- 0:03Speaker 1: Hey, we have changes. We have a team advancing to
- 0:08Speaker 1: the Championship Series, that pretty bracket looking a little bit different.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And also we are well aware that AJ is traveling
- 0:16Speaker 1: back to Seattle, I believe after the show today. Hence
- 0:20Speaker 1: the Seahawks sweatshirt. Is that a fresh Seahawks.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Fresh, brand new because I went to the game on Sunday,
- 0:26Speaker 2: But I just have I also have a Michigan hat on.
- 0:28Speaker 2: It's a Michigan's Laws tune, so it's in the state
- 0:30Speaker 2: of Michigan.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I don't know if you can see it, yep.
- 0:33Speaker 2: But just since every fan thinks that I hate Detroit
- 0:38Speaker 2: and I hate Seattle, I figured i'd wear a Michigan
- 0:40Speaker 2: hat and a Seahawks that way, I have them both covered.
- 0:42Speaker 1: See, they're going to really confuse people. Wait, I thought
- 0:46Speaker 1: he hates me, but he likes me. I'm so mad.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I just want to tell my frustration out on the broadcasters.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yes, yes, your team's losing. I'm sorry that we talk
- 0:56Speaker 2: about the team that's winning and doing the right things.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I am sorry. You know, we should really talk about
- 1:01Speaker 2: the team that's losing and can't get a hit or
- 1:03Speaker 2: can't score run or makes errors instead, because that's your team,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and that's the team that's doing the right thing.
- 1:09Speaker 1: How dare you? How dare you talk about the Tigers
- 1:12Speaker 1: offense exploding, which we'll get to later. This is cool.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We have three teams left and we can show the
- 1:17Speaker 1: bracket in the American League side. Obviously we're gonna get
- 1:21Speaker 1: a game five that AJ is going to be calling
- 1:24Speaker 1: Tigers and Mariners. That's tomorrow blue Jay's advance. We'll talk
- 1:28Speaker 1: plenty about that. We're in a situation where either the
- 1:31Speaker 1: Blue Jays make to the World Series. Been a minute,
- 1:34Speaker 1: Tigers make it to the World Series, been less than
- 1:37Speaker 1: a minute, but they haven't one in a while, and
- 1:39Speaker 1: the Mariners make it to the World Series for the
- 1:42Speaker 1: first time ever. So some cool scenarios that are set
- 1:45Speaker 1: up here with what is left in the American League?
- 1:48Speaker 1: And can I ask a TV question because we're going
- 1:50Speaker 1: to do a postgame show after Phillies Dodgers today, anyone
- 1:54Speaker 1: show a hands know why the Phillies and Dodgers are
- 1:57Speaker 1: going to play an early game today after that late
- 2:00Speaker 1: game so they can travel back quicker, you just.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They have to go to Philly so they have a
- 2:05Speaker 2: day off.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know why timing.
- 2:13Speaker 1: We have the Central time game at nine, and we
- 2:17Speaker 1: have the West Coast game eighth Central the West Coast
- 2:21Speaker 1: game at three pm Local time in Los Angeles. I'm
- 2:25Speaker 1: sure fans in Los Angeles are thrilled.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, they're gonna be They're gonna make it right on time.
- 2:33Speaker 1: That does suck, though, I would love an explanation on
- 2:36Speaker 1: that one, besides the oh, we're gonna save people three
- 2:39Speaker 1: hours of flying time. So if they played the late game,
- 2:42Speaker 1: they'd fly back, they'd still or they can sleep there
- 2:45Speaker 1: and then fly back on a full day off and
- 2:49Speaker 1: then play game five on Friday. That ends up happening.
- 2:52Speaker 2: That's what the Mariners did. I mean the Tigers did
- 2:55Speaker 2: before they played the Mariners in Detroit. They waited and
- 2:57Speaker 2: flew later. The Mariners took the red eye home and
- 3:00Speaker 2: the other team did not. So, but I have a
- 3:02Speaker 2: question for y'all. You know the Mariners, Blue Jays or
- 3:04Speaker 2: Tigers are going to represent the a L. I was
- 3:07Speaker 2: just walking around outside in Detroit and people were asking me.
- 3:10Speaker 2: They're like, Oh, it's so good for these small market
- 3:12Speaker 2: teams to win, and I'm like, is it good? Though?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Because my question about that is if a small market
- 3:18Speaker 2: team wins, doesn't incentivize the small market teams not to
- 3:20Speaker 2: spend money. Doesn't It doesn't incentivize these teams to say, oh,
- 3:25Speaker 2: look the Brewers are doing it on this payroll and
- 3:28Speaker 2: this team didn't spend money and they won the World Series.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Doesn't incentivize teams not to spend money.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I hear, I hear what you're saying.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just this is not my I'm
- 3:41Speaker 2: just asking because these these these guys were working and
- 3:45Speaker 2: they came up to me and you know, hey, you
- 3:47Speaker 2: know we're Tigers fans.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Don't know.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I watched the broadcast. You know, we're super excited because
- 3:50Speaker 2: these small market teams have a chance this year. And
- 3:53Speaker 2: then when he said that, I was like, Okay, I
- 3:55Speaker 2: get it. You want your team to win, and you know,
- 3:57Speaker 2: small any team to win is great. That hasn't done it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, I mean, if
- 4:02Speaker 2: if the Rays would have won World Series all those
- 4:04Speaker 2: years they haven't won one, every team already wants to
- 4:07Speaker 2: be the Raids. Wouldn't it push more teams to be
- 4:08Speaker 2: the Rays.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Detroit is a top fifteen TV market, so I hope
- 4:13Speaker 1: they're not considered.
- 4:15Speaker 2: They don't. They don't spend. They didn't spend a lot.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Well, they used to, and now they don't. Also, let's see,
- 4:21Speaker 1: let's see the Tigers make it to the World Series first, Okay,
- 4:24Speaker 1: the Brewers out there. I don't think the Tigers are
- 4:26Speaker 1: going to be representing the AL. I think it'll be
- 4:29Speaker 1: there and the Mariners, Brewers.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Mariners, and then you go in the NL. I mean
- 4:35Speaker 2: the Brewers, I mean the Cubs, Phillies, Dodgers. Obviously a
- 4:38Speaker 2: big market. The Cubs sometimes don't act like it, but
- 4:41Speaker 2: the other two do. Okay, So there's two things half
- 4:44Speaker 2: and half.
- 4:45Speaker 1: One in Major League Baseball, there is parody. And that's
- 4:48Speaker 1: why the whole salary cap tired discussion is lame when
- 4:52Speaker 1: you see a season like this. The other side of
- 4:54Speaker 1: the coin is the Mariners can't afford to be like this.
- 4:58Speaker 1: They didn't do this the last couple of years. They
- 5:00Speaker 1: push chips in a little bit, right, a little bit.
- 5:02Speaker 1: At the deadline, you pick up some guys that are
- 5:04Speaker 1: going to be free agents after this year. Anyway, it
- 5:06Speaker 1: just costs you for the rest of this season. Gino Suarez,
- 5:08Speaker 1: Josh Naylor. Look how much of a difference that makes
- 5:11Speaker 1: to the lineup Beja and also for Seattle in general,
- 5:14Speaker 1: the way they've handled things. They've barely made any postseason
- 5:18Speaker 1: appearances in the twenty first century. So I feel like
- 5:20Speaker 1: both sides of the coin apply here. It's like, if
- 5:23Speaker 1: you try a little bit harder like you do now,
- 5:25Speaker 1: look at where things end up for you. I actually
- 5:28Speaker 1: think the lessons are good here.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But that's my question, though, don't you see don't you
- 5:32Speaker 2: see the question and listen? I know Detroit's not a
- 5:34Speaker 2: small market. Toronto's definitely not a small market. They have
- 5:37Speaker 2: all of Canada. Okay, Seattle could be a big market.
- 5:41Speaker 2: They've been in the past, they just haven't hasn't worked.
- 5:43Speaker 2: They just act like they're small market. Detroit could be.
- 5:46Speaker 2: They used to spend money. They don't even more because
- 5:48Speaker 2: they say, oh, we're in the central we're small market,
- 5:49Speaker 2: blah blah blah. Milwaukee definitely is a small market, right,
- 5:52Speaker 2: So three of the six teams act like they're small markets,
- 5:56Speaker 2: and three of the six teams don't. So it just
- 5:58Speaker 2: it's just a question, don't It was just something I
- 6:00Speaker 2: was thinking about and I figured you guys might have
- 6:02Speaker 2: an opinion one way or.
- 6:03Speaker 3: The other.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Well, I think the last thing we should mention before
- 6:09Speaker 1: we get to the Phillies Dodgers series officially, is that
- 6:12Speaker 1: Kratz forgot to notify us that the Eagles play tonight.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I can plainly forgot about that. I was actually looking
- 6:19Speaker 3: at that game. So can't cross over the market even
- 6:23Speaker 3: though they're on the West coast, even though baseball is
- 6:26Speaker 3: in the greatest time of the year for baseball, we
- 6:29Speaker 3: bow down to the NFL.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yes, exactly, Well, we're going to go up against the
- 6:33Speaker 1: NFL tonight live on YouTube with our postgame show because
- 6:38Speaker 1: our postgame show is going to be during that Eagles game.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Not to mention this game is still going to spill
- 6:43Speaker 1: into the football game. I get it, But just go
- 6:46Speaker 1: right up against it. I mean, if you went late,
- 6:49Speaker 1: you I would have said, okay, maybe do a nine
- 6:51Speaker 1: thirty or something right, and then you watch the second
- 6:53Speaker 1: half of Eagles and then you watch the second half
- 6:55Speaker 1: of the Phillies game, if that's what you choose. But anyway,
- 6:59Speaker 1: not our proper Phillies Dodgers Game four postgame show on
- 7:02Speaker 1: the FT YouTube channel later tonight. This episode of FT
- 7:08Speaker 1: is presented by Fox one AJ. If people have the
- 7:11Speaker 1: Fox one app. Then they get to listen to you, Adam,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Wayne Right and Adam Amin for one more game, A
- 7:18Speaker 1: Game five five on Friday, all alone. No Yankees, blue Jays,
- 7:24Speaker 1: just your game A game five? What time is that game?
- 7:28Speaker 2: Eightiestern so prime, prime time in listen eighties. I'm pomped
- 7:33Speaker 2: man Friday. There's no other games. There's really not a
- 7:35Speaker 2: lot of college football on Friday night. It is baseball.
- 7:38Speaker 2: And we complained there was no games on a Friday
- 7:40Speaker 2: night before. Well, guess what you get? Game five? My
- 7:43Speaker 2: question is this going to be the only Game five?
- 7:45Speaker 2: Because I don't know do we think the Phillies get
- 7:48Speaker 2: it done? But I love the fact that we get
- 7:50Speaker 2: a game five I've done. This will be my third
- 7:52Speaker 2: Game five I've got to do. They are awesome, they're fun.
- 7:55Speaker 2: My first two years I did this, I got to
- 7:56Speaker 2: do Game five and I haven't had one since. So
- 7:58Speaker 2: guys are pretty excited about it. So that the crew
- 8:00Speaker 2: is super excited about can to do a win or
- 8:02Speaker 2: take all game?
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's fun. Crazy things happen, right, we'll probably see.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Manager's panic, like nobody, oh my gosh.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Decision scrutinized. So we're excited about it. We'll be watching
- 8:16Speaker 1: and listening to you guys, and if you don't have
- 8:20Speaker 1: a way to get the game, everyone has a way
- 8:21Speaker 1: to get the game.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Now.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Okay, it's the Fox one app. We're pumping it the
- 8:25Speaker 1: next few weeks. Here on FT you can stream Fox one.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You can get yourself a free seven day trial by
- 8:32Speaker 1: hitting that QR code or going to the description either
- 8:35Speaker 1: in this YouTube episode or if you're listening to us
- 8:39Speaker 1: on podcast form, you can do the same over there.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Can I actually read this news that just came through here?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Nathany Valdi sports turnia surgery. Okay, that's not that bad.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I saw surgery and I was like, uh oh, sports
- 8:54Speaker 1: turnia surgery. He'll be back for spring training, right. You
- 8:57Speaker 1: guys haven't had ernias, have you?
- 9:00Speaker 2: No? I look pay Forrey Seger had to remember and
- 9:04Speaker 2: he was out for a long time.
- 9:05Speaker 1: They missed it. That was the problem. Corey Seeger had
- 9:09Speaker 1: a very unique situation. They could not figure out what
- 9:12Speaker 1: was wrong, or they misdiagnosed. They don't remember, but they
- 9:15Speaker 1: did not diagnose the sports tourney. And then they finally
- 9:18Speaker 1: did and that's why he missed a little bit of
- 9:20Speaker 1: the beginning of this season, right? Was it this season
- 9:22Speaker 1: or year before? I don't even remember it was this year.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I mean, I know he missed part of the the
- 9:28Speaker 3: beginning of the season.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, okay, I thought that was anyway.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I thought it was after the World Series.
- 9:34Speaker 1: It might have been after the World Series. The years
- 9:36Speaker 1: are starting to string together. Hotcorner, Let's fizzle planes in
- 9:42Speaker 1: the Bronx today. People are very pissed all around the
- 9:46Speaker 1: Tri State area. The Yankees are taken down in a
- 9:49Speaker 1: Game four where they were pretty heavily favored. We'll spend
- 9:52Speaker 1: a lot of time on the Blue Jays later in
- 9:54Speaker 1: the show, let's first focus on the Yankee side of
- 9:57Speaker 1: the equation. AJ Cam sh Slitler essentially did his job,
- 10:02Speaker 1: but so did the bullpen game scripted and executed beautifully
- 10:06Speaker 1: by Toronto in this win.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you know why, because nobody had a bad night.
- 10:11Speaker 2: That was why nobody had a bad night. Everybody was
- 10:14Speaker 2: locked in. Everybody from the beginning of the game in
- 10:17Speaker 2: Varlin to the end at Hoffman, everybody was locked in
- 10:20Speaker 2: and everyone pitched great, and man it was it was
- 10:24Speaker 2: perfectly executed. And I don't know what you want. I
- 10:27Speaker 2: don't know what Yankee fans want want someone to say
- 10:30Speaker 2: that the Blue Jays finished ahead of him in the
- 10:33Speaker 2: season because they won the season series and now they
- 10:35Speaker 2: beat him three out of four, they dominate him in Toronto.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It probably, you know, other than the Judge game yesterday
- 10:41Speaker 2: or two days ago, they probably should have swept them.
- 10:44Speaker 2: And listen for all the people that say Judge can't
- 10:47Speaker 2: hit any in the postseason, well he hit this postseason
- 10:50Speaker 2: and the Yankee still didn't win. So I don't know
- 10:52Speaker 2: what y'all want, But there's some other people that ain't
- 10:54Speaker 2: Judge's fault, and it ain't Aaron Boone's fault. Aaron Boone
- 10:57Speaker 2: did everything he can. Judge did everything that he could.
- 11:00Speaker 2: You know, some guys didn't pitch their best. Some guys
- 11:02Speaker 2: didn't play their best.
- 11:03Speaker 3: So I don't know. I just thought it was.
- 11:07Speaker 1: The Blue Jays were just better.
- 11:09Speaker 2: That's all I can say. In this series, the Blue
- 11:10Speaker 2: Jays were better. And for this year, the Blue Jays
- 11:12Speaker 2: were a better team.
- 11:13Speaker 3: The Blue Jays baseball is better. They were able to
- 11:18Speaker 3: get guys over when they needed to. They were facing
- 11:20Speaker 3: a dude that just came off of one of the best,
- 11:23Speaker 3: most dominant playoff performances pitching that you've seen and really
- 11:28Speaker 3: just kind of worked him enough. There's plenty of times
- 11:32Speaker 3: where a pitcher is throwing and you're like, man, he
- 11:36Speaker 3: is dominating us. Let's just let's get him out of
- 11:39Speaker 3: the game. Because they didn't strike out, they worked his
- 11:44Speaker 3: pitch count enough that you know what, it was time
- 11:48Speaker 3: eventually to get him out. Hats off to Cam Schlitler
- 11:52Speaker 3: go from twelve strikeouts to one and still have an
- 11:56Speaker 3: awesome start. He did an amazing job. Hats off to
- 12:01Speaker 3: Aaron Judge. He did an amazing job this entire series continuing.
- 12:05Speaker 3: In the last game, he almost he was two feet
- 12:07Speaker 3: from another dinger. To me, the Blue Jays just were
- 12:11Speaker 3: a more complete baseball team, a more complete twenty six players,
- 12:17Speaker 3: and you could dive into every single one of them
- 12:20Speaker 3: on the Blue Jays and what they did. They just
- 12:23Speaker 3: played baseball better than them. And you know what, kudos
- 12:28Speaker 3: to the Blue Jays because they a lot of people
- 12:31Speaker 3: were like, oh, you can't do it this way. You
- 12:33Speaker 3: can't you can't win this way. There's no way it
- 12:35Speaker 3: doesn't succeed. They could still hit some dingers, they can
- 12:38Speaker 3: still drive some runs in, and they out pitched the
- 12:42Speaker 3: Blue Jays and they out hit I mean, they outpitched
- 12:44Speaker 3: the Yankees and they out hit the Yankees.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Game on ye game. You're playing baseball. So if they
- 12:52Speaker 2: out baseball them, that means they were a better team.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you think.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Isn't that what the Brewers do to most teams? They
- 12:58Speaker 2: out baseball them because they go first to third and
- 13:00Speaker 2: they bunt and they take the extra base and do
- 13:02Speaker 2: all those things. Isn't that baseball? Yes, homers are nice
- 13:05Speaker 2: and homers are great, but you still have to play
- 13:07Speaker 2: baseball and the Bluers or not the Bruers, the Blue Jays.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Listen to the Blue Jays the game they lost it.
- 13:12Speaker 2: You can say what you want. I know, the Judge
- 13:14Speaker 2: homer is what everyone remembers. And by the way, people
- 13:16Speaker 2: that say that's Judge's moment, Okay, it was a cool moment,
- 13:18Speaker 2: but they didn't win, so it doesn't really matter. It
- 13:20Speaker 2: goes away. Yankee fans only care if you get those
- 13:22Speaker 2: in the World Series. I remember Derek Jeter because he's
- 13:24Speaker 2: hitting homers in the World Series. So, but the Blue
- 13:28Speaker 2: Jays lost that game because Barger dropped a pop up
- 13:30Speaker 2: that led to all the trouble starting right if he
- 13:32Speaker 2: catches that pop up. The Blue Jays probably sweep the
- 13:34Speaker 2: Yankees and they go quietly into the night. No one's
- 13:36Speaker 2: talking about anything, right, So it came down to the
- 13:40Speaker 2: Blue Jays with just a better baseball team because we
- 13:42Speaker 2: played baseball.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yep, that's it, and I think that's lost in the numbers. Look,
- 13:50Speaker 3: you can go to all the metrics and everything. The metrics.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Metrics are going to say the Blue Jays are a
- 13:56Speaker 3: good team. The metrics are going to say, well, in
- 13:59Speaker 3: a vacuum, the Yankees are a better team. Well in
- 14:03Speaker 3: a vacuum, that's what the Yankees are using right now
- 14:05Speaker 3: because they're sweeping up their locker room and they're going home. Like,
- 14:09Speaker 3: you have to play the game on the field. You
- 14:12Speaker 3: have to say, how's Vladimir Guerrero gonna beat me? If
- 14:15Speaker 3: he's hitting six hundred in the series, he's gonna beat
- 14:19Speaker 3: me by walking him and then he's gonna have to
- 14:21Speaker 3: get around the bases on his own. We're gonna make
- 14:23Speaker 3: someone else beat us. That's baseball. How are we going
- 14:26Speaker 3: to be able to recover from not having our starting shortstop? Oh,
- 14:30Speaker 3: because we traded for Andre Samenez, who you knew wasn't
- 14:33Speaker 3: going to hit, but he can step in and play
- 14:37Speaker 3: shortstop if we need them. We also have someone else
- 14:39Speaker 3: that can step in and play shortstop. Like those are
- 14:42Speaker 3: things that your team has to be able to be
- 14:46Speaker 3: fluid and be able to make plays, put a bunt
- 14:49Speaker 3: down if needed, and field the ground ball. Like, there's
- 14:53Speaker 3: a lot of things. There's a lot of things that
- 14:56Speaker 3: go into being a baseball team. And that's why I
- 14:58Speaker 3: said they got baseball. They played baseball better. And it's
- 15:03Speaker 3: a funny, quirky way of saying it, but it's the truth.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Also, last year this team made the World Series. They
- 15:10Speaker 1: had one soda, They lost Juan Soto, they had to
- 15:14Speaker 1: do other things. They fixed some parts of the team,
- 15:17Speaker 1: but other parts of the team are still not good enough,
- 15:20Speaker 1: right Kratz. For me, Wan Sota would have helped a lot.
- 15:24Speaker 1: They needed a lot more offense in a series like this.
- 15:27Speaker 1: First of all, in the first two games, Gossman and
- 15:29Speaker 1: Trey Savage with their splitters alone, And I know those
- 15:31Speaker 1: are two of the best on the planet, but every
- 15:33Speaker 1: young pitcher out there now is like, oh, I know
- 15:35Speaker 1: how to beat the Yankees. I got to learn how
- 15:36Speaker 1: to throw a splinter. If I don't have a splitter.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I got to learn how to throw a splitter. But
- 15:40Speaker 1: for the Yanks, I mean, there were plenty of opportunities here.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Even in this game, right Hoffman loaded up the bases
- 15:45Speaker 1: and Wells didn't come through. Anthony Bolpi had one of
- 15:49Speaker 1: the worst series I've ever seen in my life in
- 15:51Speaker 1: a Division series. In a four game spot, he was
- 15:54Speaker 1: one for fifteen with eleven strikeouts, and he had a
- 15:58Speaker 1: nightmare year. It's true, right, his defense took a major
- 16:01Speaker 1: step back. Tons of swing and miss. He can give
- 16:04Speaker 1: you that flash, but for the most part, it was
- 16:07Speaker 1: a nightmare season. And this was the series where he
- 16:09Speaker 1: was a super super negative. And not that they're just
- 16:12Speaker 1: relying on him, but overall, when you look at this team,
- 16:14Speaker 1: I'm like, were they a better team than last year?
- 16:17Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 16:19Speaker 3: This is like, this is going to come across as
- 16:21Speaker 3: being super critical of the Yankees, and I'm going to
- 16:24Speaker 3: try to not make it about one player. It's not
- 16:26Speaker 3: about Volpi, It's not about you know, Max Freed not
- 16:31Speaker 3: having his best outing, and it's about the team and
- 16:35Speaker 3: the fact that they won to win a World Series.
- 16:38Speaker 3: They're built to win a World Series. Fans expect that's
- 16:41Speaker 3: so we're criticizing them, not on the same level as
- 16:44Speaker 3: you criticize a team that's never in the playoffs, that
- 16:47Speaker 3: never puts money forward. To me, it's criticism of this
- 16:51Speaker 3: is an incredibly well built offense in the sense of
- 16:55Speaker 3: we're gonna score runs, We're going to do this. I
- 16:58Speaker 3: get it, there's chance we can get pitched too, but
- 17:01Speaker 3: you know what, overall, in one hundred and sixty two games,
- 17:04Speaker 3: we're going to be this good. But when you get
- 17:08Speaker 3: to the playoffs, you have to be able to make
- 17:10Speaker 3: an adjustment. I saw one of the guys on the team,
- 17:13Speaker 3: because I said, I'm not going to make an individual
- 17:16Speaker 3: kept taking the same exact swing on every single pitch,
- 17:20Speaker 3: and they hit his bat one time and the ball
- 17:22Speaker 3: went out of the ballpark other times. Never made an adjustment,
- 17:28Speaker 3: and his at bats were kind of meh, can you
- 17:33Speaker 3: make an adjustment? I love the fact that they picked
- 17:35Speaker 3: up Paul gold Schmith. Paul gold Schmidt tries to make
- 17:37Speaker 3: the adjustments at this point in his career is not
- 17:40Speaker 3: an MVP anymore. Cody Bellinger tried to make the adjustments.
- 17:44Speaker 3: So I felt like the team was built to win.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Were they built to be the best team in Major
- 17:51Speaker 3: League Baseball. Clearly not well enough because they didn't accomplish it.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And clearly you're talking about Jazz would be my guest
- 17:59Speaker 1: because hit a homer. But besides that, I mean, I
- 18:01Speaker 1: didn't play, but I saw swings like that, So that
- 18:04Speaker 1: sounds like Jazz. That sounds like what I'm talking about
- 18:06Speaker 1: with Fulpy. John Carlow was superhuman last year. He wasn't
- 18:11Speaker 1: this year. They pitched well, But I love his point.
- 18:13Speaker 1: AJ do you agree the Yankees could beat the crap
- 18:17Speaker 1: out of some teams this year? They destroyed teams they
- 18:20Speaker 1: were supposed to destroy. Those pitchers are not as good
- 18:23Speaker 1: as the ones that you're going to see in the postseason.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Do you think that BASS, the famous computer system for
- 18:29Speaker 1: the Yankees, is not factoring in how postseason baseball is
- 18:33Speaker 1: different when they're constructing the roster and even the lineup, which,
- 18:36Speaker 1: according to Derek Jeter, is how things are done. Jeter
- 18:39Speaker 1: on the postgame show said quote, I'm pretty sure Aaron's
- 18:44Speaker 1: not the one that's calling every move that they make
- 18:46Speaker 1: throughout the game.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Listen, it's a human game, okay, And you have to
- 18:51Speaker 2: understand in the postseason and in the regular season, you
- 18:53Speaker 2: can catch guys and you can get fourth starters. You
- 18:57Speaker 2: can get fifth starters, you can get middle relievers in
- 18:59Speaker 2: the third game of a series because you've beaten up
- 19:02Speaker 2: the other guys. But in the postseason, those guys go
- 19:05Speaker 2: a way and you get everybody's best shot, and you
- 19:08Speaker 2: get everybody's best matchup. And if you don't have guys
- 19:11Speaker 2: that can do multiple things, kind of like Kratz is saying,
- 19:14Speaker 2: make adjustments, put the ball in play, get the guy over,
- 19:17Speaker 2: do little things, and you better be able to play
- 19:19Speaker 2: defense in the postseason, because if you can't play defense
- 19:21Speaker 2: and you're giving good teams extra outs, it usually doesn't
- 19:24Speaker 2: work out for you. So, yeah, do I think it's
- 19:26Speaker 2: roster construction one hundred percent. I think what Alex Rodriguez
- 19:28Speaker 2: said was smart. And they have what three left handed
- 19:31Speaker 2: hitting catchers, five dhs and first basements that they have
- 19:34Speaker 2: to platoon all the time. He's like, it's not good
- 19:35Speaker 2: roster construction, And I can't argue that because it comes
- 19:39Speaker 2: down to if you're Aaron Boone, you got to ride
- 19:42Speaker 2: with the guys you got. You can't make a magical
- 19:44Speaker 2: trade in the postseason and say, hey, we want this
- 19:46Speaker 2: guy we want that guy. You got what you got.
- 19:48Speaker 2: So I just think it was a flawed team this year.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I don't think they were I think they were a
- 19:52Speaker 2: good team. They weren't a great team. And I just think,
- 19:55Speaker 2: Askrat said earlier, the Blue Jays were a better team,
- 19:58Speaker 2: and they outplayed baseball against him. And that's what the
- 20:00Speaker 2: Blue Jays have done to a lot of teams. They
- 20:02Speaker 2: string hits together and then boom, someone pops one. They
- 20:04Speaker 2: play in unbelievable defense, they don't give up extra extra outs.
- 20:08Speaker 2: They're starters especially or strike throwers, and they don't give
- 20:12Speaker 2: up a ton of home runs. So I think, yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 2: they just got beat by a better team. It's okay,
- 20:17Speaker 2: it happens. I've been on teams and I thought were good.
- 20:19Speaker 2: But you know what, we ran in a team that
- 20:20Speaker 2: was better, and you lose.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Stuff happens, and you sit there and you go, what
- 20:25Speaker 3: are the holy grails of baseball? For the metrics? For bass?
- 20:29Speaker 3: You were talking about bass, it's who hits the ball
- 20:32Speaker 3: the hardest, who throws at the hardest and strikes the
- 20:35Speaker 3: most people out. You build your team on that. You
- 20:38Speaker 3: better never ever ever veer from that and have a
- 20:42Speaker 3: bad day of that, because if you do, it's gonna
- 20:47Speaker 3: look listless. It's gonna look lifeless, it's gonna not look
- 20:51Speaker 3: like the first series of the year where they played
- 20:53Speaker 3: the Brewers, a team that's still in contention for the
- 20:57Speaker 3: World Series, and they put up twelve eleven, thirteen runs.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Like they can bludgeon teams to death with their lineup,
- 21:07Speaker 3: but can they make the adjustment? I disagree with Scott.
- 21:12Speaker 3: I think this offense is elite and was built to
- 21:15Speaker 3: be elite. I think they need to figure out how
- 21:19Speaker 3: to make adjustments. How many years did we talk about
- 21:22Speaker 3: the Dodgers not making adjustments, not making adjustments, not you know,
- 21:26Speaker 3: always being platoon heavy. Max Muntsey came on last year,
- 21:29Speaker 3: was like, oh, yeah, we had to line or yesterday
- 21:32Speaker 3: and he said, we used to have the line change
- 21:34Speaker 3: of John Peterson, Cody Bellinger and him from the left side.
- 21:38Speaker 3: And he's like, now we've kind of shifted that. Can
- 21:40Speaker 3: the Yankees shift that? Because they are already up at
- 21:44Speaker 3: the top elite class in the American League in my opinion,
- 21:48Speaker 3: they need something to get them over the top. No
- 21:50Speaker 3: longer do they have the advantage that they used to
- 21:52Speaker 3: have building teams being the best team, they need something
- 21:56Speaker 3: that gets them over the top. And I don't think
- 21:58Speaker 3: they're that far from that.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yeah, when when they're elite, they need VOLTI going, they
- 22:03Speaker 2: need Jazz going, they need Ryan McMahon to do something.
- 22:06Speaker 2: They need Bellinger good, they need Stanton Good. There's a
- 22:08Speaker 2: lot of guys they need good. It's not a it's
- 22:11Speaker 2: a hit or miss. That's the thing. When they're hitting
- 22:13Speaker 2: and they're going, oh, look out right. But when they're
- 22:16Speaker 2: not hitting and they're just you know, judging, everyone else
- 22:19Speaker 2: is trying to play catch up. You know, they're not good.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I'm sorry they're not. They're so home run and reliant
- 22:25Speaker 2: that that's why the record wasn't good in the extra innings,
- 22:27Speaker 2: because they couldn't get the guy over to score that
- 22:29Speaker 2: run when they needed to do. It's too many strikeouts.
- 22:32Speaker 2: So yet, could they be great, absolutely, but could they
- 22:35Speaker 2: also go through stretches where they were terrible? We saw
- 22:37Speaker 2: that too.
- 22:39Speaker 1: They have a type and that type is not working
- 22:41Speaker 1: for them lately in terms of going the distance. Again,
- 22:43Speaker 1: they made it to the World Series last year, but
- 22:45Speaker 1: I look at that as and also that year yet
- 22:48Speaker 1: an outlier because but.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Here's the thing for Yankee fans. They look at the
- 22:52Speaker 2: American League and say, gosh, how can we not beat
- 22:54Speaker 2: the Mariners?
- 22:55Speaker 4: Oh man, the Tigers, the Blue Jays who haven't been
- 22:59Speaker 4: there were the Yanks we should beat this should have
- 23:01Speaker 4: been We already beat the Red Sox, right, and they
- 23:03Speaker 4: celebrated like they won the World Series when they beat
- 23:05Speaker 4: the Red Sox.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Fine, that's good for them. But they look at the
- 23:09Speaker 2: American League and say, we're the Yankees, we should dominate
- 23:12Speaker 2: all these other teams. And now we're bounced and we're
- 23:14Speaker 2: gonna have to watch the Blue Jays playing the Mariners
- 23:16Speaker 2: of the Tigers. What is going on in Yankee lan
- 23:19Speaker 2: that's the fans perspective, true or not, that's the fans
- 23:22Speaker 2: the way they look at it.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and you can say we're being haters, but I mean,
- 23:27Speaker 1: most real Yankee fans are disappointed today. And Pinstriped Territory
- 23:32Speaker 1: was crazy last night after the game, and then he's
- 23:35Speaker 1: already put out his top five Yankees who won't be
- 23:38Speaker 1: back for twenty twenty six, So make sure you check
- 23:41Speaker 1: that out. That one always gets a lot of attention.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Derek Lewandowski running point and also, by the way, fair
- 23:48Speaker 1: Territory with Ken Rosenthal Tomara will touch on what happened
- 23:51Speaker 1: to the Yankees in that game and this season. Mark
- 23:55Speaker 1: Krigg has a tweet from the Athletic Baseball is so funny.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Jay switched to their white penal hats to change the vibe,
- 24:01Speaker 1: and they've won them ever since. After not wearing them
- 24:03Speaker 1: for years, Philly's asked for permission to wear powder blues
- 24:06Speaker 1: and they were opening a can on the Dodgers. I
- 24:12Speaker 1: like it. It's a superstitious sport. I mean, aj you
- 24:15Speaker 1: know that, Oh.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I trust me.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Guess what they'll be wearing today, powder blues one hundred yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 2: I mean if you were I know, in two thousand
- 24:25Speaker 2: and five we had the vests. We had to sleeveless uniforms.
- 24:27Speaker 2: There's crowd says it's powder blue, but we had our
- 24:30Speaker 2: vests and we didn't lose in our vest, and as
- 24:31Speaker 2: soon as we lost in our vest, we switched to
- 24:33Speaker 2: the other one. So, I mean, it's just it's just
- 24:38Speaker 2: the way, especially you have now all the different options
- 24:40Speaker 2: you have, Like people don't want to if the Rays
- 24:42Speaker 2: remember got on a hot streak and those their city connects?
- 24:45Speaker 2: Was it last year or two years ago? And guess
- 24:46Speaker 2: what they wore every game the City Connects. They were like,
- 24:48Speaker 2: we want to wear them on the road.
- 24:50Speaker 3: We don't care.
- 24:51Speaker 2: And you know, baseball led them and they stayed hot,
- 24:53Speaker 2: and as soon as they lost, they switched back. It's
- 24:55Speaker 2: just it's baseball.
- 24:56Speaker 3: It's funny.
- 24:57Speaker 2: It doesn't matter, and that it doesn't really matter, but
- 24:59Speaker 2: people think it matters.
- 25:00Speaker 3: A J. A J. Loves the Baby Blues. That is
- 25:04Speaker 3: the one team besides the fact that he just wants
- 25:06Speaker 3: to hang out with the boys in the clubhouse with
- 25:07Speaker 3: the Phillies, the Baby Blues will make his Baby Blues
- 25:12Speaker 3: come out.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I never played with the team Baby Blues. I should have.
- 25:18Speaker 3: You know, I would be illegal. They would have been.
- 25:22Speaker 3: It wouldn't be. It wouldn't be Tom Brady on on
- 25:25Speaker 3: the cover of Fox one. It would be it would
- 25:28Speaker 3: be just like.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Hey, listen, Brady's my pal. Okay, I have a picture
- 25:35Speaker 2: with him.
- 25:35Speaker 1: So yeah, do all of our fans know Zoolander or
- 25:41Speaker 1: is that already too long ago?
- 25:45Speaker 2: Brought up Tropic Thunder to you the other day, Scot,
- 25:47Speaker 2: I know what the movie is, though you did not
- 25:49Speaker 2: know what the movie is.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Don't want Yes, I did know what the movie is,
- 25:53Speaker 1: not you didn't know I did Downy Jack Black. I've
- 25:57Speaker 1: seen bits and pieces. It's like when it's one of
- 26:00Speaker 1: the premium channels when you're growing up, and then you
- 26:03Speaker 1: know it's all fuzzy because they don't get the channel
- 26:15Speaker 1: better than box scores. The Tigers win and they force
- 26:18Speaker 1: a game five on Friday in Seattle. We do have
- 26:21Speaker 1: a postgame show posted on our YouTube channel with me
- 26:25Speaker 1: and with Trevor may So if you'd like to check
- 26:28Speaker 1: out thoughts from us right after the game, you can
- 26:30Speaker 1: do that later. But AJ is calling that series, So
- 26:34Speaker 1: let's get your instant reaction to what's coming next here.
- 26:37Speaker 1: What should we expect for Game five? Does that Tigers
- 26:40Speaker 1: offensive burst carry over? Does Schooble finally beat the Mariners
- 26:45Speaker 1: this year? How do the Mariners employ their starting staff right,
- 26:50Speaker 1: because they've got two guys that can go in Luis
- 26:53Speaker 1: Castillo and George Kirby. What do you have for us?
- 26:57Speaker 3: Do you? Okay?
- 26:58Speaker 2: First of all, we'll start with this. Do you think
- 27:00Speaker 2: that at the beginning of this series, if you would
- 27:01Speaker 2: have told Aj Hinch they'd be two to two, they
- 27:05Speaker 2: would have lost the Scooball game and they'd have Scooball
- 27:08Speaker 2: going Game five, he would have taken it even though
- 27:11Speaker 2: they got a fly to Seattle. Do you think he
- 27:12Speaker 2: would have taken it. Hell, yes, one hundred percent, he
- 27:16Speaker 2: would have taken it out. If you're the Mariners, you say,
- 27:20Speaker 2: we've beaten Schoobul three times already this year. Luis Castillo
- 27:23Speaker 2: has beaten him twice head to head. Now not him,
- 27:25Speaker 2: but they won both. They won all three games that
- 27:27Speaker 2: Schoobol has pitched against them. Do you think the Mariners
- 27:30Speaker 2: are afraid of Terror's Schoobel. I don't know, because they've
- 27:33Speaker 2: already beat him three times. They got a chance to
- 27:35Speaker 2: beat him four times in a season, and he's the best.
- 27:38Speaker 2: You know, him and Schemes, you could make the argument
- 27:40Speaker 2: are probably the best two pitchers in the world right now.
- 27:42Speaker 2: So wow, I don't know. There's a lot of drama
- 27:45Speaker 2: for this. The Seattle crowd is going to be going
- 27:47Speaker 2: bonkers because they're thinking they got a chance to not
- 27:49Speaker 2: only win this series, but go to the World Series
- 27:51Speaker 2: for the first time ever. The Tigers, I know, Detroit
- 27:54Speaker 2: is crazy. Detroit was rocking yesterday. It's going to be fascinating. One,
- 27:58Speaker 2: how how well Trek pitches really well? Last time seven
- 28:01Speaker 2: Inning's really only two mistakes to two homers to Polanco,
- 28:04Speaker 2: Luis Castillo pitch Greg George Kirby pitch really well, and
- 28:07Speaker 2: the gave up the one mistake to carry Carpenter and
- 28:09Speaker 2: then the bullpen deployment. Man, these two guys, it's like,
- 28:12Speaker 2: all right, well I saw this guy, Now I'm going
- 28:13Speaker 2: to pitch this guy and you Hinch and Dan Wilson
- 28:15Speaker 2: are going back and forth and why they making moves
- 28:17Speaker 2: and trying to take pieces off the board and move
- 28:19Speaker 2: guys around, and this then change in lineups to scent matchups.
- 28:23Speaker 2: There's a lot of strategy in this game, and there's
- 28:25Speaker 2: a lot of ifs, and there's a lot of butts,
- 28:27Speaker 2: and there's a lot of we can see this and
- 28:29Speaker 2: we could see that there's a million different scenarios. It's
- 28:31Speaker 2: it's going to be an awesome game just because of
- 28:33Speaker 2: all the things that can go wrong or right, depending
- 28:35Speaker 2: on who you're looking at.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I really wonder how they're going to deploy these bullpens.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I think Aj Hinch has a much easier game. I
- 28:43Speaker 3: think it is Arry Scougele's to win or Tarry Scoogeles
- 28:47Speaker 3: to lose. I don't think when he gets into struggles.
- 28:50Speaker 3: You know, if he has a second and third situation,
- 28:52Speaker 3: let's say gives up a walk and then a double
- 28:56Speaker 3: second and third, that's when Terry Scouoble goes into strikeout mode.
- 29:01Speaker 3: But Aja, hint's not gonna sit there and go. I
- 29:04Speaker 3: think I'm going to take him out. I think Dan Wilson,
- 29:07Speaker 3: if it's Kirby, if it's Castillo, whoever it is, it starts.
- 29:11Speaker 3: If one of his pitchers gets into trouble, I'm going
- 29:14Speaker 3: right to it. So to me how these bullpens are used,
- 29:18Speaker 3: not just oh well, this is my best guy. I
- 29:21Speaker 3: want to go. But hey, you know what, Javier Bias
- 29:24Speaker 3: has faced completely blanking on his name. Help me out
- 29:30Speaker 3: who to hovey Bias face? Like four times.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Bizardo Edward Bozo. Thank he's facing four times four games,
- 29:36Speaker 2: He's facing four at bats.
- 29:38Speaker 3: That's like I was a career two h nine hitter.
- 29:42Speaker 3: If you put the nastiest pitch on a pitching machine
- 29:45Speaker 3: and you say, Eric, I need you to get a
- 29:47Speaker 3: hit on it, you know what, I'm probably gonna look
- 29:51Speaker 3: pretty stupid my first few at bats, my first or
- 29:53Speaker 3: my first few pitches facing it but if you keep
- 29:57Speaker 3: throwing that pitch at me, you keep throwing it and
- 30:00Speaker 3: putting it in the machine, and you don't change it
- 30:01Speaker 3: up at all, because that's what's happening. When you face
- 30:04Speaker 3: guys back to back to back to back days, everything
- 30:08Speaker 3: looks the same. You're like, I remember this, not even
- 30:10Speaker 3: talking about the fact that the dude's exhausted, not even
- 30:13Speaker 3: talking about the fact that you know some guys can
- 30:16Speaker 3: and can't make adjustments on the mound. It's advantage hitter.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I would be able to get a hit off of
- 30:23Speaker 3: the nastiest pitch if you show it to me enough time,
- 30:26Speaker 3: So it'll be interesting if that comes into Dan Wilson
- 30:29Speaker 3: or AJ Hinch's mind, like he's seen him so many times,
- 30:32Speaker 3: we can't wait. I saw the swings he had on
- 30:34Speaker 3: him last time. Maybe we don't go to it. Maybe
- 30:37Speaker 3: our lanes that are predetermined pregame may need to shift
- 30:42Speaker 3: a little bit. And it's gonna take a lot of
- 30:44Speaker 3: balls for a manager to say, I get it. He's
- 30:48Speaker 3: my best pitcher in this sixth inning spot. Just didn't
- 30:52Speaker 3: like what I saw last time. I'm going to this
- 30:55Speaker 3: guy because if it doesn't work, there'll be a lot
- 30:57Speaker 3: of scrutiny on your side.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I had another school, might scoobl might throw one hundred
- 31:02Speaker 2: and fifty pitches in this game. If he's on, he might.
- 31:05Speaker 3: He might.
- 31:05Speaker 2: If he's on, he might, He seriously might, he might
- 31:08Speaker 2: throw two hundred pitches. And everyone you talk to on
- 31:13Speaker 2: both sides they know it. And his his presence was
- 31:18Speaker 2: looming over the whole game yesterday, and that's why. But listen,
- 31:22Speaker 2: I'll be honest, I don't care who wins at all,
- 31:25Speaker 2: so let's get that out there. But I will say this,
- 31:29Speaker 2: and we said it on the broadcast. The Tigers offense
- 31:32Speaker 2: did absolutely nothing. I mean, we were I told I
- 31:34Speaker 2: told aj Hinch. I saw aj Hinch on the street
- 31:36Speaker 2: last night. Okay, I was walking and he pulled up
- 31:39Speaker 2: in his car and he stopped me and he started
- 31:42Speaker 2: yelling at me. You know, I was like, gosh, here
- 31:43Speaker 2: was this random, crazy person yelling at me from their
- 31:46Speaker 2: super nice car. And it was Hinch and he's like,
- 31:49Speaker 2: what'd you think? And I was like, man down three nothing.
- 31:52Speaker 2: I was booking my flight home. I'm like, you guys
- 31:54Speaker 2: had nothing going. And then all of a sudden, one inning.
- 32:00Speaker 2: I don't even know what happened. It was like Bryce
- 32:02Speaker 2: Miller was dealing. They'd never scored a runoff of them,
- 32:04Speaker 2: and then Dingler hits the double, and then as soon
- 32:07Speaker 2: as he hit that double, it was like they've remembered
- 32:09Speaker 2: how to hit again. I can't explain it because then
- 32:12Speaker 2: then then the Marrior's like, okay, we got spire against
- 32:15Speaker 2: Riley Green who hadn't done anything the whole shit. And
- 32:19Speaker 2: Adam Waynwright said before he literally said before we went
- 32:22Speaker 2: on the air, beginning, he goes, Riley Green might go
- 32:24Speaker 2: deep here, and he's probably going to go deep here,
- 32:26Speaker 2: and then that he's gonna get hot as all fire,
- 32:28Speaker 2: and watch out, boom he hits the homer and then
- 32:31Speaker 2: the wheels came off, and I can't explain it. I
- 32:35Speaker 2: don't know what changed. It was literally nothing changed. It
- 32:38Speaker 2: was like the Marrier's pitching was dominating the Dolphins offense.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Offense, whack that.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Hit by Dingler changed everything, and now Game five is
- 32:45Speaker 2: a toss up. But I can't explain it. I wish
- 32:47Speaker 2: I could explain it. I don't know.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I have one question. It's a conspiracy theory thing. But
- 32:53Speaker 1: we'll do it in the break because we want to
- 32:55Speaker 1: let everyone know that Tiger Territory is available for you
- 32:58Speaker 1: to check out their episodes. Almost Ailey Coming Out to
- 33:01Speaker 1: cover what Detroit's been through so far in the postseason
- 33:03Speaker 1: and beyond, Cody staven Hagen, Kirien Steckley, Austin Jackson. Josh
- 33:08Speaker 1: Naylor made it very obvious that he wanted the Tigers
- 33:12Speaker 1: to know that he was watching the side.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Aj, what.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Are your thoughts? You were great at picking that out.
- 33:18Speaker 1: And do you think that pisses a team off? I mean,
- 33:20Speaker 1: we've talked about it. That would piss me off. I
- 33:21Speaker 1: know you don't need extra motivation, but just listening to
- 33:24Speaker 1: Cam Schlitzler in his first start against Boston, he literally said,
- 33:26Speaker 1: I have extra motivation. People were pissing me off on
- 33:29Speaker 1: social media. Do you think that Josh Naylor pissed off
- 33:32Speaker 1: and lit up the Tigers?
- 33:35Speaker 2: I don't know what the hell Josh Naylor was doing.
- 33:37Speaker 2: He goes. Everyone I talked to after the game was like, oh,
- 33:39Speaker 2: that was fake. It was just fake. It was just fake.
- 33:41Speaker 2: And he was going like this, But the only thing
- 33:43Speaker 2: that gave it away is the next guy that got
- 33:46Speaker 2: on second Dom can Zone did something also and he
- 33:49Speaker 2: went like this and both times he did it, it
- 33:51Speaker 2: was an off speed pitch, so he made it like
- 33:54Speaker 2: obvious too. So I know you have different signals with
- 33:57Speaker 2: different hitters and different runners. I don't know what Naylor
- 33:59Speaker 2: was doing, but I mean it's like again, it goes
- 34:02Speaker 2: back to what you know. Krats and I have talked
- 34:04Speaker 2: about this. Used to just get smoked if you did
- 34:07Speaker 2: anything like I remember, I would just stand there and
- 34:09Speaker 2: be like, I don't want to move because I don't
- 34:10Speaker 2: want anyone to get hit. You know, right, and you
- 34:12Speaker 2: don't hit Naylor, You hit Suarez and you say that's
- 34:15Speaker 2: for him acting like a fool out of second base
- 34:17Speaker 2: and jumping around.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 34:19Speaker 2: You hit cal Rawley and you say, tell Naylor to
- 34:22Speaker 2: calm down if you don't want to get hit next time. Right,
- 34:24Speaker 2: And then that guy goes in the dugout. But that
- 34:26Speaker 2: doesn't happen anymore. It's fine, that's the way they play.
- 34:28Speaker 2: But again, does he have anything? I don't know. The
- 34:31Speaker 2: only thing I thought was because it was a lefty,
- 34:33Speaker 2: and I think it was Holton Tyler. Holton, the way
- 34:36Speaker 2: he set he could see and then when the right
- 34:38Speaker 2: he came in Finn again, he was set different. So
- 34:41Speaker 2: they couldn't see the balls, the ball in his hand.
- 34:44Speaker 2: That was the only thing I was thinking he was
- 34:45Speaker 2: picking up because Dingler was setting up late. He was
- 34:47Speaker 2: setting up the same, so I don't know what the
- 34:49Speaker 2: heck he was doing. It's just crazy when you see
- 34:51Speaker 2: guys out there jumping around and waving their hand like,
- 34:53Speaker 2: first of all, would have been like, dude, stop, you're
- 34:55Speaker 2: distracting me from trying to hit, because there's all this
- 34:57Speaker 2: junk going around out there right like who they're doing,
- 34:59Speaker 2: like all kinds of dance moves and stuff like, just
- 35:01Speaker 2: stand there and let me try to hit unless you're
- 35:04Speaker 2: giving me something. Calm down.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And Trevor May said he thinks he really was picking
- 35:08Speaker 1: up some off speed, both of them, and they're looking
- 35:11Speaker 1: like they're TikTok dancers. That would piss me off. I'm
- 35:13Speaker 1: just throwing that out there. I feel like, I agree,
- 35:16Speaker 1: this little trend that's going on right now is bush league,
- 35:19Speaker 1: and if you're faking it, it's still bush league. In
- 35:21Speaker 1: my mind, I think it's bush league. You don't need
- 35:23Speaker 1: to do that win the freaking ball game. I think
- 35:25Speaker 1: they pissed the Tigers off just throwing that out there.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Somebody should ask the question to the Tigers if they
- 35:30Speaker 1: win this series.
- 35:32Speaker 3: If Scott's ever pitching against me, I'm definitely doing some
- 35:35Speaker 3: of this because that's an advantage. If it makes you mad,
- 35:38Speaker 3: if it makes the Tigers mad, if it makes the
- 35:40Speaker 3: Mariners manas whoever's doing it, then you have an advantage
- 35:44Speaker 3: if you're able to get under their skin a little bit.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Making many people mad often makes them better and more
- 35:50Speaker 1: locked in. Okay, in the weeds, this is our opportunity
- 35:57Speaker 1: to talk about Matthew Boyd and Freddie peraltat up in
- 36:00Speaker 1: Game four in this pictures ballpark, Yes, it's a pitcher's park.
- 36:06Speaker 1: These days, parks change and Rickley Field has taken center stage.
- 36:10Speaker 1: The friendly confines are friendly four pictures. If you look
- 36:14Speaker 1: at smart analytical factors like extra distance that a ballpark
- 36:22Speaker 1: provides according to stat Task based on elements that don't
- 36:25Speaker 1: include the temperature breaking that part up. Last year, Rigy
- 36:31Speaker 1: Midfield ranked twenty ninth. I'm not making that up. I'm
- 36:34Speaker 1: not even smart enough to put that sentence together without
- 36:37Speaker 1: reading it. Okay, I'm run Burgundy anyway. This year it
- 36:42Speaker 1: still ranked in the top five in terms of that
- 36:46Speaker 1: distance factor, so still very very difficult, balls not traveling
- 36:50Speaker 1: as far as they would in other spots, winds swirling,
- 36:54Speaker 1: people like the Cubs heads groundkeeper can't figure it out?
- 36:59Speaker 1: Can you? You guys figure it out?
- 37:01Speaker 3: I have an idea. I have an idea.
- 37:03Speaker 2: I do actually have it.
- 37:04Speaker 3: This is this is legit.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Besides global warming, which you know global warming has changed
- 37:09Speaker 2: the wind patterns in Chicago because you know, Cal farted
- 37:11Speaker 2: in New Mexico the other day and so the wind changed.
- 37:14Speaker 2: But anyways, I can't, I can't, but you know what
- 37:19Speaker 2: I honestly think it is. I think it's the scoreboards
- 37:22Speaker 2: they put up and the way they've constructed all the
- 37:24Speaker 2: stuff around it. It was it was kind of an
- 37:27Speaker 2: open air stadium. In the outfield, there was no scoreboards
- 37:29Speaker 2: and there was no anything to block the wind, so
- 37:33Speaker 2: the wind could just rip through there, either in or out.
- 37:36Speaker 2: And now, honestly, I think what happens is, even if
- 37:38Speaker 2: the wind's blowing out, it hits those giant scoreboards and
- 37:40Speaker 2: it turns it so it makes it even though it
- 37:43Speaker 2: seems like, oh man, the wind's blown out, it still
- 37:45Speaker 2: hits those scoreboards and turns it back in. And then
- 37:47Speaker 2: when it's blowing in, it just blows in and it
- 37:50Speaker 2: doesn't turn it. You know, it doesn't affect it as much.
- 37:52Speaker 2: So I think, honestly, and this I could be way
- 37:54Speaker 2: off on this, which you know probably am, but I
- 37:57Speaker 2: just think it's those giant scoreboards they put in in
- 38:00Speaker 2: all the buildings and everything they put around it has
- 38:02Speaker 2: kind of boxed it in, and you know, it kind
- 38:04Speaker 2: of gets that effect where even if it's blown out,
- 38:06Speaker 2: it still hits it. And you to get it over
- 38:07Speaker 2: the scoreboards, it'll help you. But if you hit it
- 38:10Speaker 2: under those giant and those scoreboards are gigantic, it probably
- 38:12Speaker 2: kills a little bit. Probably wrong, but it's my theory.
- 38:15Speaker 1: And Jesse Rodgers wrote the article, by the way, from
- 38:18Speaker 1: espn our Buddy, so props to him. But Kratz, if
- 38:21Speaker 1: AJ's theory is true, then maybe they need to create
- 38:24Speaker 1: something that bounces it back out.
- 38:28Speaker 3: But only on Thursdays when the sun is shining through
- 38:33Speaker 3: some cumunanimous clouds like that is the most random. Why
- 38:37Speaker 3: on Earth is a groundskeeper telling me how the ball
- 38:39Speaker 3: is traveling. He don't do nothing in the air. He's
- 38:43Speaker 3: making sure the ground is wet, making sure the grass
- 38:45Speaker 3: is green and the ivy is trimmed. Like, this kind
- 38:49Speaker 3: of stuff happens all the time. Look, they added the
- 38:52Speaker 3: humidor to all stadiums in different levels. When you put
- 38:56Speaker 3: up a massive scoreboard and take away away from what
- 39:00Speaker 3: I think was the cool aesthetics of Wrigley Field, and
- 39:04Speaker 3: then you add another massive scoreboard when you only had
- 39:08Speaker 3: something in center field, Yes, it's gonna change. Like some
- 39:13Speaker 3: where was it ballpark in Arlington where the Rangers used
- 39:16Speaker 3: to play that used to be just an absolute launching pad.
- 39:20Speaker 3: They put sweets in the back, which meant they glassed
- 39:24Speaker 3: up that area and then all of a sudden wind
- 39:27Speaker 3: wasn't blowing through anymore and it just became a regular ballpark.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Like these are major renovations that can change the way
- 39:36Speaker 3: the ball travels.
- 39:38Speaker 1: What are you guys thinking for Game four? Matt Boyd
- 39:40Speaker 1: on normal rest, That makes more sense. Freddy Parolta, Eric
- 39:43Speaker 1: has been the ace for the brew Crew. They almost
- 39:47Speaker 1: came back, but they fell just short and most of
- 39:49Speaker 1: the action has been early in these games. What do
- 39:51Speaker 1: you think happens?
- 39:53Speaker 3: I think the Brewers take them. I think Freddy Peralta
- 39:55Speaker 3: says we're not going back to Milwaukee as much as
- 39:57Speaker 3: I liked that place. He won. He wants to beat
- 40:01Speaker 3: the Cubs in regularly, and I think it's it's a
- 40:05Speaker 3: case that the Cubs I don't I don't understand why
- 40:08Speaker 3: the Cubs all of a sudden are like looking for
- 40:10Speaker 3: one swing and one one spot and then it's just
- 40:13Speaker 3: like I mean, Michael Bush, he's been he's been nails.
- 40:19Speaker 3: But then the rest of the game, it's like they're
- 40:21Speaker 3: scoring in one inning and then they're just letting the
- 40:24Speaker 3: Brewers climb back into it. They need to get ahead,
- 40:28Speaker 3: they need to take that lead and continue to add
- 40:31Speaker 3: to that lead. And they haven't been able.
- 40:33Speaker 2: To the Birds pitching them too. They've they've given up
- 40:37Speaker 2: some runs early and then they've they've really settled down.
- 40:40Speaker 2: And the Brewers have actually just controlled this series, I
- 40:43Speaker 2: mean other than I mean they lost yesterday, clearly I
- 40:45Speaker 2: know that, but they've kind of I just feel like
- 40:47Speaker 2: they're in much more control of this series. The way
- 40:50Speaker 2: they're dictating to the Cubs who they want to pitch,
- 40:52Speaker 2: when they want to pitch them, and the Cubs are
- 40:53Speaker 2: kind of playing ketchup. And that's always kind of been
- 40:55Speaker 2: Creig Council's things. Use ahead of the game, right with
- 40:58Speaker 2: the pitching stuff, so I don't know, it's been It's
- 41:00Speaker 2: been a fun series to watch because if you like runs,
- 41:02Speaker 2: and you like homers, and you like all those things
- 41:05Speaker 2: and people, you know, redemption stories with Andrew Vaughn hitting
- 41:09Speaker 2: that homer in the first game and all those things,
- 41:11Speaker 2: or the second game is sorry, I mean, it's it's
- 41:13Speaker 2: been a fun series to watch. But I think you're right.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I think Freddy p steps up tonight and says bye bye,
- 41:17Speaker 2: Cubby's time to go home.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Yeah, Quinn Priester was a little rattled, and then Murph
- 41:24Speaker 1: did the classic hey we're gonna need you later in
- 41:28Speaker 1: the month, so keep your head up. And then they
- 41:32Speaker 1: almost came back and swept them.
- 41:34Speaker 2: But they should have. I mean they should have. They
- 41:35Speaker 2: had runners, they had a million base runners. They just
- 41:38Speaker 2: left a million guys on base. But they had chances.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Don't think that Birrs didn't have chances to win that
- 41:42Speaker 2: game yesterday.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Had all kinds of chances.
- 41:44Speaker 1: That's why I watched that game, and I'm like, man,
- 41:47Speaker 1: the Brewers look like a much better team right now,
- 41:50Speaker 1: but we'll see what happens. Speaking of coaches, and by
- 41:52Speaker 1: the way, that was great. I think that anyone that
- 41:55Speaker 1: missed an ounce of that. Should listen to all of it,
- 41:57Speaker 1: even it doesn't have to do with the Mets. Just
- 41:59Speaker 1: also just listening to where the game is changing from
- 42:01Speaker 1: someone who is a hitting coach in the sport just
- 42:04Speaker 1: now anyway, will Yachty join Ali Marmle in twenty twenty
- 42:08Speaker 1: six on his coaching staff. Recently, Yachty said, quote, right now,
- 42:13Speaker 1: we're in contact with Saint Louis to become a coach
- 42:14Speaker 1: for the Cardinals and help Marble. He's still a manager,
- 42:17Speaker 1: but I'd be there alongside him. Nothing's concrete yet, but
- 42:20Speaker 1: we're working on it. Okay, so maybe they're working on
- 42:23Speaker 1: what the setup would be Kratz and I mean, Money's real.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Maybe they're working on that all of that. But it
- 42:28Speaker 1: sounds like he wants to do it. Otherwise he wouldn't
- 42:30Speaker 1: talk like that.
- 42:31Speaker 3: And there's like nineteen openings right now, so clearly he's
- 42:36Speaker 3: good with being in Saint Louis a little awkward, but
- 42:40Speaker 3: Ali is pro. Ali knows everything comes to an end,
- 42:44Speaker 3: and you know, maybe this helps, this helped, you know,
- 42:48Speaker 3: helps him. I think if if Ali thinks it's good
- 42:51Speaker 3: for the team, he could get on board with it.
- 42:54Speaker 3: But Ultimately, I get Yachti doesn't want to be in
- 42:56Speaker 3: another uniform because if that's the case, if he threw
- 42:59Speaker 3: his name in the hat, he could easily be the
- 43:02Speaker 3: Pirates or Rocky's manager.
- 43:04Speaker 1: The one thing that stood out to me with our
- 43:06Speaker 1: conversation with Adam wayn Wright the other day was the
- 43:08Speaker 1: media and the team representation factor, right, Kouhols and Yachti.
- 43:13Speaker 1: For sure, Yadi does not love the media, not that
- 43:16Speaker 1: he's mean, He just doesn't love to speak, and you
- 43:18Speaker 1: do have to speak. It's just part of the job.
- 43:20Speaker 1: It's a huge part of the job these days. So
- 43:22Speaker 1: I think it'll be good for him if he does
- 43:24Speaker 1: spend time with Ali, who's a very good speaker, really
- 43:27Speaker 1: good with the media, and he learns from that. Right So,
- 43:31Speaker 1: as as much as Yady knows, there is a component
- 43:34Speaker 1: that I think he'll be able to pick up more
- 43:36Speaker 1: from if he spends time with Ali, and in exchange,
- 43:38Speaker 1: Olly knows that Yati's a brilliant baseball mind and if
- 43:42Speaker 1: he can help him win games, then Ali's all for it.
- 43:44Speaker 1: He's a guy I think that's truly not worried about
- 43:47Speaker 1: job security. He's like me. He's been quoted saying it.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Not everyone is. He's like, I'm going to do my thing,
- 43:53Speaker 1: and then yeah, if you think Yadi's better, like, okay, cool,
- 43:56Speaker 1: I'll figure out what's next.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yadi. I don't know him very well, just playing against him,
- 44:00Speaker 3: but hearing people that played with him, great teammate. How
- 44:04Speaker 3: does a Hall of Famer, how does a superstar connect
- 44:08Speaker 3: with all twenty six guys? He's never been called into
- 44:12Speaker 3: the office to get sent down? How does he handle
- 44:14Speaker 3: that part of it? Things that can be learned? And
- 44:17Speaker 3: I think if he's on the staff, maybe he sees that.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Maybe he's like, oh, you know what, I got to
- 44:23Speaker 3: be able to talk to Segi JC and see what's
- 44:26Speaker 3: going on in his mind because he's a big part
- 44:28Speaker 3: of the team, but not a Sparta every day.
- 44:32Speaker 1: All right, Second, little bet MGM, spare I've been told
- 44:36Speaker 1: we have things to show, so we can show them.
- 44:39Speaker 1: First off, bet MGM posted should the Yankees fire Aaron Boone?
- 44:46Speaker 1: Like for yes, retweet for no. Can I get a
- 44:49Speaker 1: live update on how that went? Not a single retweet?
- 44:55Speaker 1: Last checked. How many likes though, is a large number
- 44:59Speaker 1: of likes that were actually saying yes? Or were there
- 45:01Speaker 1: a lot of people who what's the word abstained. Let's
- 45:04Speaker 1: see if we can get alib thirty five likes. Okay, Well,
- 45:07Speaker 1: they're wrong, because if you think Boon's the problem, you're wrong.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I think that the Yankees would be in a much
- 45:12Speaker 1: worse spot if Boone wasn't leading the charge the last
- 45:15Speaker 1: several years, much worse. There's some others that can do
- 45:18Speaker 1: a good job like him, but I think there are
- 45:21Speaker 1: very few that can handle all of that. It's a lot,
- 45:24Speaker 1: and it is a clunky roster for years, and they
- 45:26Speaker 1: have been going pretty far. World Series last year, Yes,
- 45:30Speaker 1: bounce from DS this year. The Blue Jays are a
- 45:32Speaker 1: better team.
- 45:34Speaker 3: They're a better team. They're better. It's just different construction.
- 45:38Speaker 3: And I don't even remember which it is. But I'll
- 45:41Speaker 3: take the exact opposite what everybody said. He should not
- 45:45Speaker 3: be fired. Aaron Boone has done everything to me. He's
- 45:50Speaker 3: maybe even exceeded what he could have done. He hasn't
- 45:53Speaker 3: exceeded expectations. They yeah, the expectations are World Series or bust.
- 46:00Speaker 3: We see how hard that is. He has gotten this
- 46:03Speaker 3: team as far as they could physically go, and he
- 46:09Speaker 3: should He shouldn't be fired.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Absolutely, not a team built for the postseason correctly in
- 46:13Speaker 1: my mind, I know that Gerardi has a better postseason
- 46:16Speaker 1: winning percentage. I'm sorry, I mean it's a roster construction issue.
- 46:19Speaker 1: That's me.
- 46:20Speaker 3: They're a team built for the postseason. If you want
- 46:22Speaker 3: to flip a coin and see how they do in
- 46:24Speaker 3: the postseason, home run.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but there it's a home run reliant team.
- 46:32Speaker 1: It's different. And if you listen, Eric Traviz just now
- 46:35Speaker 1: to me, I think the Yankees are actually behind and
