- 0:13Speaker 1: $ 150 in lineups instantly. All right, guys, Florida is 2-0,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and that is the good part. But listening to John
- 0:20Speaker 1: Summerall on Monday, I think the message was really clear.
- 0:24Speaker 1: What Florida has done through the first two weeks is
- 0:27Speaker 1: not going to be good enough by itself, to win
- 0:30Speaker 1: at Auburn. This is where the season changes. You're not
- 0:34Speaker 1: playing FAU anymore. You're not playing Campbell. You are opening
- 0:37Speaker 1: SEC play on the road, at night, in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And throughout Summerall's press conference, I thought he gave us
- 0:44Speaker 1: a pretty good roadmap to what Florida has to do
- 0:47Speaker 1: better if it wants to leave Auburn 3-0. There are
- 0:51Speaker 1: several areas where the Gators can absolutely take another step
- 0:55Speaker 1: and honestly have to take another step. Number one for
- 0:58Speaker 1: me is pretty simple. Florida has to stop the run.
- 1:01Speaker 1: That was probably the strongest thing Summerall said about Auburn's offense.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Everybody sees the wide receiver splits. Everybody sees how Auburn
- 1:09Speaker 1: spreads you horizontally. You see the tempo. You see the
- 1:12Speaker 1: potential for those shots downfield. And naturally, I think that's
- 1:15Speaker 1: where your eyes go. That's the exciting part. But Summerall
- 1:19Speaker 1: said the thing that really kills you in this style
- 1:21Speaker 1: of offense is the run game. They spread those receivers
- 1:25Speaker 1: way outside. They force defenders to respect all of that space.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And then they turn around and they run the football
- 1:32Speaker 1: right at you. His words were basically, if you don't
- 1:35Speaker 1: stop the run against this offense, you have no chance.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And I think that has to be the starting point
- 1:41Speaker 1: defensively for Florida. You can't let Auburn dictate numbers in
- 1:44Speaker 1: the box. You can't let the spacing scare you into
- 1:47Speaker 1: playing soft. And you cannot, absolutely cannot, miss tackles. You
- 1:53Speaker 1: have to be disciplined enough to defend the explosive play
- 1:56Speaker 1: without becoming passive against the run. And so that's the
- 2:01Speaker 1: balance that you're trying to strike. And someone else said
- 2:03Speaker 1: Auburn wants to put defenders in space and force them
- 2:06Speaker 1: to win one-on-one matchups. That means they are going to
- 2:09Speaker 1: be placed Saturday night where there isn't some magical scheme
- 2:13Speaker 1: that saves you. Somebody just has to beat a block
- 2:16Speaker 1: or make a tackle and somebody's gotta win their matchup.
- 2:20Speaker 1: That is gonna be a major test for this defense.
- 2:23Speaker 1: The second thing Florida has to do better Get more
- 2:26Speaker 1: out of the pass rush. Now, Semrel gave a lot
- 2:29Speaker 1: of context to the sack numbers. He talked about how
- 2:31Speaker 1: fast FAU got the ball out and that Campbell called
- 2:34Speaker 1: a ton of screens. And he pointed out you're not
- 2:37Speaker 1: going to sack the quarterback on a tunnel screen when
- 2:39Speaker 1: the ball is gone in one second. And I think
- 2:42Speaker 1: that's a fair, you know, remark. But he also admitted
- 2:47Speaker 1: Florida has had opportunities when they've gotten close and they
- 2:51Speaker 1: just haven't finished. And I think that's the part that
- 2:53Speaker 1: has to change, especially against Auburn. If you allow an
- 2:57Speaker 1: experienced quarterback to sit back comfortably and operate this offense
- 3:01Speaker 1: exactly the way it was designed, you are making your
- 3:04Speaker 1: own life incredibly difficult. Samalka says he cares about more
- 3:09Speaker 1: than sacks. He wants to know, can you hurry the quarterback?
- 3:12Speaker 1: Can you flush him out of the pocket? Can you
- 3:13Speaker 1: make him throw before he wants to? Can you move
- 3:16Speaker 1: him towards an area where he is less comfortable? And
- 3:19Speaker 1: all of that is important. Florida needs disruption. And I
- 3:23Speaker 1: think we're getting to the point where Jaden Woods in
- 3:25Speaker 1: particular needs to start making his presence felt a little
- 3:28Speaker 1: bit more. Summerall acknowledged that protections have been sliding towards him.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So obviously teams are respecting him. But he also said
- 3:37Speaker 1: there are things Jaden can do better and there are
- 3:39Speaker 1: things this coaching staff can do to help him. This
- 3:42Speaker 1: would be a pretty good week for all of that
- 3:44Speaker 1: to just go ahead and come on and come together.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Auburn's offense has become a lot harder to defend today.
- 3:50Speaker 1: when the quarterback is comfortable, and Florida has to change that.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Number three, Florida has to play cleaner football, and this
- 3:57Speaker 1: one is the most obvious to all of us. The
- 4:00Speaker 1: Gators had five offensive line penalties against Campbell. Three of
- 4:04Speaker 1: them were holds, two unnecessary roughness penalties, and all five
- 4:08Speaker 1: happened in the second half. You can survive that against Campbell,
- 4:12Speaker 1: as obviously the Gators did. You cannot survive that at Auburn.
- 4:16Speaker 1: A holding penalty that turns a second and four in
- 4:19Speaker 1: a second and 14, that kills a drive, or at
- 4:21Speaker 1: least can. An unnecessary roughness penalty that gives Auburn 15
- 4:25Speaker 1: free yards, that can potentially flip field position. And in
- 4:29Speaker 1: a game that could very easily come down to a
- 4:31Speaker 1: single possession, those are the types of mistakes that get
- 4:34Speaker 1: you beat.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Hey guys, I'm going to take a quick break from.
- 4:37Speaker 1: This video to give some love to Summit Wealth Advisors.
- 4:41Speaker 1: You guys know my husband, Eric Wilber, as a national
- 4:43Speaker 1: champion punter. This week, you might be a little bit
- 4:46Speaker 1: reminded about that dropped punt against Auburn. But what Eric
- 4:49Speaker 1: is now is a financial advisor who really takes care
- 4:53Speaker 1: of his clients. He brings his championship mentality from his
- 4:56Speaker 1: football days into the office, and he helps you guys
- 4:59Speaker 1: get ready for retirement, make it through retirement, plan for
- 5:03Speaker 1: the unexpected. He helps young families, old families, teachers in retirement.
- 5:07Speaker 1: He's an expert in FRS. Anything you might need, Eric
- 5:11Speaker 1: can help you get there. There's going to be a
- 5:12Speaker 1: link in this video you can check out. You can
- 5:15Speaker 1: make an appointment with him. Gators, take care of Gators.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Set a 20-minute is-it-right-for-you appointment and find out if what
- 5:21Speaker 1: he does might help make your family life a little
- 5:24Speaker 1: bit easier. We appreciate Summit Wealth Advisors for all their support.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So I'm all basically said that some things along the
- 5:30Speaker 1: offensive line were better. The snaps improved. He liked what
- 5:33Speaker 1: he saw from Bryce Lovett, but the cleanliness of the
- 5:37Speaker 1: operation still has to improve. And that goes beyond the
- 5:40Speaker 1: offensive line. Florida has to play a mature football game.
- 5:45Speaker 1: No pre-stab mistakes because it's loud there.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It's going to be.
- 5:49Speaker 1: No emotional penalties because somebody gets under your skin.
- 5:52Speaker 2: They're going to.
- 5:53Speaker 1: No wasted downs. No giving Auburn free yardage. SEC road
- 5:58Speaker 1: games are already difficult enough. You cannot make them harder
- 6:02Speaker 1: on yourself. And that leads me directly to number four.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Florida has to handle the environment. This is Aaron Filo's
- 6:08Speaker 1: first start in a setting like this. And Summerall didn't
- 6:11Speaker 1: pretend otherwise. Jordan Hare is going to be loud. Florida
- 6:15Speaker 1: is going to pump crowd noise into practice this entire
- 6:19Speaker 1: week to prepare. But even Summerall admitted that there's really
- 6:22Speaker 1: no way to completely simulate these SEC stadiums and what
- 6:25Speaker 1: they are like until you're just standing in the middle
- 6:28Speaker 1: of one. And that makes all of this a massive
- 6:31Speaker 1: test for Aaron Filo. I don't think necessarily because he
- 6:34Speaker 1: has to throw for like 350 yards. I don't think
- 6:37Speaker 1: he does need to do that. But what Florida does
- 6:39Speaker 1: need from him is composure. Summerall talked about why he
- 6:43Speaker 1: believes in Philo. He called him competitive and he called
- 6:46Speaker 1: him confident. He also said he has short memory and
- 6:49Speaker 1: that he's coachable. And he said he doesn't get caught
- 6:51Speaker 1: up in trying to be a superstar. And I did
- 6:54Speaker 1: love that part of the press conference. Summerall said he
- 6:56Speaker 1: wants his quarterbacks to worry way more about being quarterbacks
- 7:00Speaker 1: than about being superstars. That's exactly what Florida's going to
- 7:03Speaker 1: need Saturday night. Don't try to win this game on
- 7:06Speaker 1: every snap. Don't let one bad play become two bad plays.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Don't let a hostile crowd speed you up.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Manage the game.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Get Florida into the right looks. Protect the football. And
- 7:18Speaker 1: if something goes wrong, move on. Summerall said Philo continues
- 7:23Speaker 1: playing the way he has really through the entire season.
- 7:28Speaker 1: If he does that, he's going to give Florida a
- 7:30Speaker 1: chance to win every week. That's the standard Saturday. Give
- 7:34Speaker 1: your team a chance. Number five, and I think this
- 7:38Speaker 1: one's going to matter the deeper we get into the season,
- 7:41Speaker 1: Florida needs its depth to be better. Semra was pretty
- 7:45Speaker 1: candid about what he saw when Florida started going deeper
- 7:48Speaker 1: into the roster against Campbell. He didn't think the football
- 7:51Speaker 1: was clean enough, and he wasn't making excuses for the
- 7:53Speaker 1: fact that the players are young. He understands that there
- 7:56Speaker 1: is a development process, and some of these guys are
- 7:58Speaker 1: right smack in the middle of it. But at the
- 8:00Speaker 1: same time, Florida can't get through the SEC schedule with
- 8:03Speaker 1: 11 guys on each side of the ball and just
- 8:05Speaker 1: hope nobody gets tired or hurt and nobody ever needs
- 8:07Speaker 1: a break. That's not realistic. You are going to have
- 8:10Speaker 1: to rotate. You're going to have to use younger players.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And when they're going into the game, the standard can't
- 8:16Speaker 1: completely change. Summerall talked about urgency. That's the word that
- 8:21Speaker 1: I keep coming back to, too. He knows that they're young,
- 8:25Speaker 1: but he wants them to grow faster. Because the schedule
- 8:27Speaker 1: is about to demand it. And Auburn is the first test.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Maybe it's only five snaps for a young DB. Or
- 8:33Speaker 1: maybe it's a backup offensive lineman coming in for a series.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Maybe you need somebody on special teams in a critical moment.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Whatever it is, the moment cannot be too big. The
- 8:43Speaker 1: depth of this roster has to start becoming dependable. On offense,
- 8:47Speaker 1: there is a very real challenge coming in the run game.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Sarmal was extremely complimentary of Auburn's defense. He thinks they
- 8:53Speaker 1: are very good against the run. He praised their defensive front.
- 8:56Speaker 1: He talked about how they reset the line of scrimmage.
- 8:59Speaker 1: He loves their linebackers. He talked about how well their
- 9:02Speaker 1: safeties fit the run. So Florida cannot just assume that
- 9:05Speaker 1: it's going to line up and run the football the
- 9:07Speaker 1: same way it has against lesser competition. This may be
- 9:10Speaker 1: the week where we learn a lot about Florida's offensive line.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Can they create movement against SEC bodies? Can they keep
- 9:17Speaker 1: Florida out of obvious passing situations? Can they stay patient
- 9:21Speaker 1: if the run game isn't explosive early? Because what Florida
- 9:25Speaker 1: does not want to do is spend Saturday night in
- 9:28Speaker 1: second and 11 and third and nine while Jordan Hare
- 9:30Speaker 1: is going crazy. That, my friends, is a losing formula.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Florida has to stay ahead of the chains. And to
- 9:37Speaker 1: do that, the offensive line has to be physical and disciplined.
- 9:41Speaker 1: One thing that should help Florida is how well the
- 9:43Speaker 1: skill players.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Have been blocking. Summerall raved about that on Monday.
- 9:47Speaker 1: He talked specifically about Bailey Stockton and really the receivers
- 9:51Speaker 1: as a whole, the tight ends. He said the perimeter
- 9:53Speaker 1: blocking has been really, really good. And against a defense
- 9:56Speaker 1: like Auburn, those little things are really good. actually the
- 10:01Speaker 1: big things. They matter even more. Maybe the difference between
- 10:04Speaker 1: a four-yard run and an eight-yard run is a receiver
- 10:06Speaker 1: finishing a block. Maybe the difference between a screen getting
- 10:10Speaker 1: stopped immediately and becoming an explosive play is somebody blocking downfield.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Those plays are going to matter in a game like this.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Summerall said one of the best measures of.
- 10:20Speaker 1: A skilled player is how he plays when he doesn't
- 10:22Speaker 1: have the football. Florida's going to need a lot of
- 10:25Speaker 1: guys willing to do the dirty work Saturday night.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And then there's special teams.
- 10:30Speaker 1: This is another area where Florida has a chance to
- 10:32Speaker 1: create an advantage. We saw what Vernell Brown can do
- 10:35Speaker 1: in the return game. Summerall has shown he is willing
- 10:38Speaker 1: to be aggressive. We saw that fake pun. And he
- 10:41Speaker 1: basically said after the game that Florida's willing to let
- 10:43Speaker 1: it hang out a little bit. I would not be
- 10:46Speaker 1: surprised if special teams plays a significant role in this game.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Not necessarily another punt returned for a touchdown, but field position,
- 10:54Speaker 1: a long field goal, a punt that gets down inside
- 10:57Speaker 1: the 10, maybe another aggressive call if Auburn gives Florida
- 11:00Speaker 1: a look that it likes. In close SEC games, one
- 11:04Speaker 1: special team's play can completely swing momentum. And Florida finally
- 11:08Speaker 1: looks like a team that might be able to create
- 11:10Speaker 1: those moments instead of just hoping to avoid disaster. So
- 11:14Speaker 1: when I look at this Auburn game, I don't think
- 11:16Speaker 1: Florida needs to reinvent itself. I don't think they need
- 11:18Speaker 1: to become something completely different.
- 11:20Speaker 2: They just need to be cleaner, more mature, and more
- 11:23Speaker 2: physical than what we've already seen. Stop the run. Affect
- 11:27Speaker 2: the quarterback. Cut down the penalties. Handle the crowd.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Get dependable snaps from your depth. Protect Aaron Filo and
- 11:35Speaker 1: allow him to manage the game. Stay ahead of the
- 11:37Speaker 1: chains offensively and continue winning on special teams.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Sounds simple. It won't be.
- 11:43Speaker 1: This is the first time this season that Florida is
- 11:45Speaker 1: going to play an opponent that can punish every mistake.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And that really is the crux of what.
- 11:51Speaker 1: SEC play is. Summerall said these games count twice. I
- 11:55Speaker 1: kind of loved that. They count in your overall record.
- 11:58Speaker 1: And then they count in your conference record. Florida did
- 12:01Speaker 1: what it needed to do through two weeks. But now
- 12:03Speaker 1: comes the first real measuring stick. Not whether Florida can dominate.
- 12:07Speaker 1: not whether Florida can score 50, but can you go
- 12:10Speaker 1: into a hostile sec stadium against a physical football team
- 12:14Speaker 1: and play clean enough for four quarters to win?
- 12:18Speaker 2: That is the challenge.
- 12:20Speaker 1: And Saturday night, we are going to learn a whole
- 12:23Speaker 1: lot more about who exactly this Florida team really is.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Appreciate you guys for tuning in. Do me a favor,
