Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right. The ex pole is, uh, it's based on
- 0:03Speaker 1: real life experience of our very own Gina Barberry. We
- 0:07Speaker 1: just want to know you're like emergency situations that you've
- 0:11Speaker 1: been in. Gina was had to go to the hospital yesterday,
- 0:14Speaker 1: emergency room hospital because of feeling bad. And so if
- 0:19Speaker 1: you have an emergency, how about an emergency room story?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Your story? Gina, You thought maybe you were having a
- 0:25Speaker 1: heart attack, right.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I really did. I was worried because they tell you
- 0:29Speaker 2: a heart attack is pain in the middle of your
- 0:33Speaker 2: chest and you know, difficult breathing. I thought for sure
- 0:38Speaker 2: I was having a heart attack.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Sure, is your voice all scratchy? Because did they have
- 0:41Speaker 1: to intubate you?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yes?
- 0:44Speaker 3: They did?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Really, there you go, Yes, so it was it was
- 0:48Speaker 2: it was major surgery. Yeah, I have four holes in
- 0:53Speaker 2: me that but I was four that we're just added
- 0:57Speaker 2: yet four new holes. Yeah.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Because what they do is they to you that's how
- 1:06Speaker 1: many openings there are in the human body, by the way.
- 1:10Speaker 2: They one of them is to blow your belly up
- 1:13Speaker 2: with air.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I've had them.
- 1:16Speaker 2: They can see what they're doing. One of them is
- 1:19Speaker 2: for a camera, hm, so they can see what they're doing.
- 1:23Speaker 2: And then somehow with the other two. They remove the
- 1:27Speaker 2: gall bladder, and because the gall bladder is attached to
- 1:31Speaker 2: things like your file ducts and your stomach, they have
- 1:35Speaker 2: to put a clamp in that stays in there to
- 1:38Speaker 2: steel it off.
- 1:39Speaker 1: They don't just use super glue or something.
- 1:42Speaker 2: No, it's there's I have a metal clamp inside me.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I have to have like a MRI or something.
- 1:48Speaker 4: I mean, no them, I got metal in my body.
- 1:50Speaker 1: That means your new nickname is no. It's no longer boots.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Your new nickname is clamps.
- 1:55Speaker 2: It's not as cute nickname.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So, Gina, I've just looked at it. Looked at up
- 2:00Speaker 1: a long term diet for gallbladder removal surgery. Long term
- 2:04Speaker 1: diet avoid avoid fried foods, fat eat fatty meats, bacon, sausage,
- 2:13Speaker 1: avoid butter cheese is no problem. Avoid sugary foods like
- 2:18Speaker 1: fast food and baked goods. Avoid sugary cereals. Caffeine and alcohol.
- 2:22Speaker 1: You're probably okay there. And spicy foods. You're probably okay
- 2:25Speaker 1: there because you don't need spicy foods anyway. But so
- 2:28Speaker 1: no more so, how are you going to get through
- 2:30Speaker 1: half a cow? That's what I want to know.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Well, and I found out it's interesting that the gallbladder
- 2:37Speaker 2: is like is kind of like your appendix that you
- 2:40Speaker 2: can live without it. It's not really necessary, but it
- 2:44Speaker 2: gives you a little extra oomph of bile to deal
- 2:47Speaker 2: with those fatty foods. I no longer have the extra
- 2:51Speaker 2: oomph of but yeah, I really And so for I know,
- 2:57Speaker 2: we have friends with the program listening probably who have
- 2:59Speaker 2: had at attack.
- 3:00Speaker 1: We got somebody online one who's had a gallbladder removal.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Oh okay, Amy, Hello Amy, Hi Amy, Hey guys.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Hi, So you also had your gallbladder removed.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I did.
- 3:14Speaker 6: I had to have it removed in two thousand and three.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 3:17Speaker 7: And I had just had my baby, and that's a
- 3:22Speaker 7: lot of times for women.
- 3:23Speaker 4: That's when it happened.
- 3:25Speaker 7: And so I had just recovered from a C section,
- 3:28Speaker 7: and I kept getting like at midnight on like every night,
- 3:32Speaker 7: I was getting this really bad pain and I thought
- 3:34Speaker 7: I was having like I was.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I felt like I was dying.
- 3:38Speaker 6: And so my my husband took me into the er.
- 3:42Speaker 6: And as I was being taken back to the R room,
- 3:50Speaker 6: I was not really censoring myself and I yelled.
- 3:56Speaker 8: I'm sing.
- 3:57Speaker 7: And so they were the piece that we're there, We're like, nah,
- 4:02Speaker 7: we'll get y'all picked up and you can go home.
- 4:05Speaker 7: And then as I was leaving, like three hours later,
- 4:08Speaker 7: they were like, you didn't die.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't that nut?
- 4:14Speaker 7: And yeah? And then I had to have my gallbladder
- 4:16Speaker 7: removed like a week later.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Okay, now now wait now I want to ask you
- 4:20Speaker 1: when I ask you a question, because we need to
- 4:22Speaker 1: get on to other stuff. What has so it was
- 4:24Speaker 1: two thousand and three, have you altered your diet considerably
- 4:28Speaker 1: since that time?
- 4:30Speaker 7: I did it first because it was I mean it
- 4:34Speaker 7: basically it gives you the trots. If you're not.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Please don't call it. Don't call it the trots. Use
- 4:43Speaker 1: the technical term, it's the hershey sports.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Uh, it'll give you the diarrheas.
- 4:49Speaker 7: And sometimes it just is not great. But I mean
- 4:54Speaker 7: I don't have any issues now.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Oh so we kind of get over it. Huh. All right,
- 4:58Speaker 1: there's good luck here, Thank.
- 5:01Speaker 6: You.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Amy.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So for a while you're gonna maybe maybe you can
- 5:04Speaker 1: get back to eating French fries.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Doctor Neil in the chat room says, Gina, be careful
- 5:09Speaker 5: with a fatty meal. I had Little Caesar's pizza about
- 5:12Speaker 5: a week after.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Mine got yanked out and it damn near killed me.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Well, I won't do that for sure, Gina.
- 5:19Speaker 9: There's there's perhaps an Italian conspiracy theory that I'm going
- 5:23Speaker 9: to float you ready for this?
- 5:25Speaker 1: So you've been in Italy? You were there like what
- 5:27Speaker 1: like a week ago or.
- 5:27Speaker 2: So my cousin.
- 5:31Speaker 9: My cousin was on his mission in Italy and they
- 5:35Speaker 9: had to remove his gallbladder. Really, yes, maybe it's the
- 5:39Speaker 9: air in Italy that something is up.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I'm just saying, all right, all right, we're gonna go
- 5:43Speaker 1: listen to stories of people's emergency room visits. Now. It's
- 5:47Speaker 1: hard to do these things without you rambling on, so
- 5:51Speaker 1: I may cut you off and make you get to
- 5:53Speaker 1: the point occasionally.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Don't be yeah, because we've got we've got a full
- 5:56Speaker 5: bank account here.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So let's let's just get to it. And if I
- 5:59Speaker 1: have to cut you off, don't be offended. Start with Maggie. Hi, Maggie,
- 6:03Speaker 1: what's your story?
- 6:05Speaker 8: Hi?
- 6:06Speaker 10: It was god bladder emergency, my horror, my horror stories.
- 6:11Speaker 10: I had to drive myself and that was horrible. I
- 6:17Speaker 10: was on the same thing Gina was in. But anyways,
- 6:21Speaker 10: it all worked out. My doctor had actually called them
- 6:25Speaker 10: and they were waiting for me.
- 6:29Speaker 1: All right, all right, thanks Maggie.
- 6:33Speaker 10: What did you say, Maggie, I wanted to tell Gina
- 6:37Speaker 10: the worst recovery. The worst part is the gas.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, stay home, Gina Ginner back in the studio.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Actually no, not that kind of gas.
- 6:47Speaker 10: Getting the gas out of the body of your cavity hurts.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Gina has that problem anyway. So yeah, thanks for Let's
- 6:57Speaker 1: go to is it Glenna? Glenna, Glenn, I woked your story.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Hey.
- 7:02Speaker 11: I started having a funny thing with my eye where
- 7:05Speaker 11: it felt like when I blinked there was like a
- 7:08Speaker 11: piece of saran wrap on my eye. So I went
- 7:10Speaker 11: to urgent care and they said, oh, you have shingles
- 7:13Speaker 11: in your eye. Let's give you some antibiotics. And it
- 7:17Speaker 11: just kept going and going, and so finally I kind
- 7:20Speaker 11: of started throwing a fit and got into an eye
- 7:22Speaker 11: doctor and they looked at my eye and they looked
- 7:24Speaker 11: at my eyes some more, and then they started asking me,
- 7:27Speaker 11: what if you had to eat and drink today, And
- 7:28Speaker 11: I thought, oh, this isn't good. They said, drive to
- 7:32Speaker 11: the hospital, do not pass go you have a retinal detachment.
- 7:36Speaker 1: WHOA, We'll be.
- 7:37Speaker 11: Waiting for you. And if I have not had surgery
- 7:41Speaker 11: within about twenty four hours of when they diagnosed it,
- 7:44Speaker 11: I would have lost the vision in my eye.
- 7:46Speaker 1: WHOA true story that happened to my wife. Thanks, Thanks Glenn,
- 7:49Speaker 1: A good story. Thank you. Wow, that's something. Sarah.
- 7:52Speaker 7: Hello, Sarah, Hey, Sarah alhead guys, Sarah, my story is.
- 8:00Speaker 12: My story is right. As COVID was hitting, my son
- 8:04Speaker 12: was having a hard time breeding, and so we rushed
- 8:07Speaker 12: them to Primary Children's Hospital. His oxygen level was really
- 8:10Speaker 12: really low, but they were also like really weird about
- 8:13Speaker 12: the mask and we didn't quite understand what was going
- 8:16Speaker 12: on with the whole COVID thing yet. At the point,
- 8:19Speaker 12: long story short, he had pneumonia. He had spend twenty
- 8:22Speaker 12: four hours in the hospital, so he's fine. But I
- 8:25Speaker 12: wanted to just shamelessly plug Primary Children's Hospital. They are
- 8:29Speaker 12: amazing and if you can and donate to them at
- 8:33Speaker 12: any I mean anything you can give to them.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they're great. Thank you, Thanks you. Sarah. All right, Morgan,
- 8:40Speaker 1: I like this. Morgan has an unidentified rash.
- 8:43Speaker 13: Oh. Yes, it was twenty eighteen. I woke up in
- 8:48Speaker 13: the morning with blood blisters inside my mouth and thought
- 8:51Speaker 13: I had just been my cheeks in my sleep, no worries.
- 8:55Speaker 6: Went to work, and all.
- 8:56Speaker 13: Of a sudden I got a big rash on my hands.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Just it was your bubonic take.
- 9:01Speaker 13: Care, No, not quite, uh huh. Went to the urgent care.
- 9:06Speaker 13: They ran some tests and then said go to the
- 9:09Speaker 13: emergency room. Don't stop at Windy's, but don't run any
- 9:12Speaker 13: red lights. When I got to the emergency room, they
- 9:16Speaker 13: told me that I had one platelet left, I could
- 9:20Speaker 13: not clot any blood.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah, huh. What do they do for that?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Although it was a.
- 9:26Speaker 13: Little bit confusing because one plate lit in medical term,
- 9:29Speaker 13: is really one thousand. Oh your normal platelet count is
- 9:33Speaker 13: as eighteen I'm sorry, one hundred and eighty thousand.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So what do they do for that? Give you transfusion?
- 9:40Speaker 13: Yeah, five days in the hospital be getting transfusions.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Oh no, thanks Morgan. Thanks, that's quite a story, that is. See.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Let's go to Derek.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Hi, Derek, good morning for let me listen.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you had to stay in the hospital for thirteen months.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Well it was a combination of two hospitals. But yes,
- 10:01Speaker 3: I checked into the emergency room. Didn't know what was
- 10:03Speaker 3: going on. I was peter king and diarrhea not stop
- 10:08Speaker 3: and it ended up that I had necrotizing pingreat titus.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Look it's skin eating disease and alive.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Jeez.
- 10:19Speaker 3: It ended up with my intestines protruding bikes to my
- 10:23Speaker 3: abdomen and I had to live with my intestines outside
- 10:27Speaker 3: of my body for a period of nine months or
- 10:31Speaker 3: so till I could get surgery. And then they know,
- 10:34Speaker 3: they did surgery, put it all back together, blah blah blah.
- 10:36Speaker 3: You know this is like four years ago. So I'm
- 10:38Speaker 3: all healthy now, but my gosh, yeah, I checked into
- 10:41Speaker 3: the hospital and didn't wait for thirteen months.
- 10:43Speaker 1: What wow deal Wow. Oh Derek, glad you're better. Yes,
- 10:47Speaker 1: see you later. All right, let's go to Katie. Hi, Katie, Hello, Yes,
- 10:53Speaker 1: what's your story?
- 10:54Speaker 2: So I had to have three surgery.
- 10:56Speaker 14: So I had had a baby in September of two
- 10:59Speaker 14: thousand and five. Member side pain, Go.
- 11:01Speaker 3: To the hospital.
- 11:02Speaker 14: Oh all, ladder's got to come out. Okay, About a
- 11:05Speaker 14: month and a half later, start getting the same pain.
- 11:08Speaker 14: Go back in ohe we got to take the appendix
- 11:10Speaker 14: out from only twenty five at this time.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Oh man.
- 11:13Speaker 14: So after I wake up from my appendix surgery, the
- 11:16Speaker 14: doctor comes in and tells me that I have chlamydia.
- 11:20Speaker 14: My actually was apparently cheated on me, and it's the
- 11:25Speaker 14: birth of my daughter. Set it off like a bomb
- 11:28Speaker 14: in my body started attacking all my main organs. Oh lord,
- 11:33Speaker 14: So I also had to have a hysterectomy and.
- 11:39Speaker 12: Divorce.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You bet, yeah, and a divorce. Everything's okay now, Katie.
- 11:45Speaker 14: Oh yes, this is many years ago. I'm forty five now, ok.
- 11:51Speaker 14: Thank you, guys.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I'm a great on that topic.
- 11:53Speaker 9: When when Gina when she had her uterus removed a
- 11:56Speaker 9: few years ago, I remember we got her a plush Yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 9: I don't remember her uterus had a name.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It was a plush us.
- 12:05Speaker 9: But now do we got to get Gina a plush
- 12:07Speaker 9: gall bladder to add to her calles?
- 12:10Speaker 2: I'm sure they do, all right, Wine up, line up
- 12:13Speaker 2: the push organs on my desk.
- 12:15Speaker 1: There you go, Mark, Mark is there? Good morning? Hi Mark.
- 12:20Speaker 4: So several years ago I was in a really bad
- 12:23Speaker 4: car wreck and burned extensively and uh so I went
- 12:27Speaker 4: to the hospital. My what then wife met me at
- 12:31Speaker 4: the hot well, didn't meet me. I was unconscious. That
- 12:33Speaker 4: met at the hospital, and just before I was going
- 12:36Speaker 4: into the surgery the end, a geologist was talking to her. Uh,
- 12:41Speaker 4: is there any history of drinking? No, No, he never
- 12:44Speaker 4: did drink. Any history of drug use that I needed
- 12:47Speaker 4: to know about, Nope, nope, never drugs. How about smoking?
- 12:50Speaker 4: Just the one time?
- 12:56Speaker 1: Thanks Mark.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Nice to hear from you, Mike and Nashville.
- 13:01Speaker 14: Hey, Mike, Hi, it's exactly Casey.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I sold the.
- 13:05Speaker 8: Phone from him.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Oh I see, Okay, I can't tell the story.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Right, okay, okay.
- 13:11Speaker 8: So Hi, So about five years ago, I was five
- 13:15Speaker 8: months pregnant. We were on vacation in Hollywood, and I
- 13:19Speaker 8: ended up in the er on the last next to
- 13:21Speaker 8: the last day we were there with saltwaterstone. They said
- 13:26Speaker 8: I had about about eight hundred of them in there.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Eight hundred yeah geese, Yeah, yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 8: Five months pregnant. But they couldn't operate, so I just
- 13:37Speaker 8: had to deal with it for another, you know, four months.
- 13:42Speaker 8: I had a sea section with that pregnant sea so
- 13:44Speaker 8: that was fun. And then eight weeks after my sea section,
- 13:49Speaker 8: they brought me back in to take my ball butter out.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Do you have to go back to Hollywood.
- 13:53Speaker 8: Take it out while you're in there?
- 13:54Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Now, listen, Casey, Uh, I asked me, Mike, Mike's from here.
- 13:59Speaker 1: But you grew up in the South, in Nashville, in
- 14:02Speaker 1: that area.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Uh.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And I asked if Mike. I asked Mike if you
- 14:05Speaker 1: had a Southern accent, and he said you did. I
- 14:08Speaker 1: can't hear it talk like you would normally talk.
- 14:13Speaker 8: Well, I've actually done considerable work to turn it off,
- 14:17Speaker 8: but I can turn it back on.
- 14:19Speaker 1: There. It was slipping in there for a second. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:23Speaker 1: I could just hear a little touch of it.
- 14:24Speaker 8: But I can tell. He can tell when I get
- 14:27Speaker 8: mad because I lose my control of it.
- 14:29Speaker 13: Uh huh, get mad, plank.
- 14:32Speaker 8: Comes back out. But I want to say thank you
- 14:34Speaker 8: so much for for acquiescing to my requests and allowing
- 14:38Speaker 8: Mike to come on. He has he he had said
- 14:41Speaker 8: a good time. He is so gushing about it, and
- 14:44Speaker 8: he was giddy at the school girl when he got
- 14:46Speaker 8: out of there.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Oh that's funny. In casey just telling him we're still
- 14:50Speaker 1: looking for that five hundred dollars check. He was sending, yes,
- 14:53Speaker 1: all right, I'll mail, all right, thank you.
- 14:58Speaker 13: Uh.
- 14:58Speaker 5: You know we're at a time to take phone call,
- 15:00Speaker 5: so we have one text I've been saving here though.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Sorry we don't get the testicular torsion story.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Here's a text. I'm too embarrassed to call. But just know,
- 15:12Speaker 5: don't insert anything into your body unless it has a
- 15:15Speaker 5: flared base.
- 15:16Speaker 1: That's right.
- 15:18Speaker 9: And Gina, I have a gift on the way for you.
- 15:22Speaker 9: I feel and Carrie luck. You can see. It comes
- 15:25Speaker 9: with the little gallstones and they have little evil.
- 15:27Speaker 5: There are a little plush gall bladders.
- 15:29Speaker 9: Gina, Yeah, for you when you get back.
- 15:32Speaker 1: All right, we'll get one. Add that to your collection.
