Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman podcast, and this was
- 0:09Speaker 1: the week we've been waiting on for a long time.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We finally got the matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and
- 0:15Speaker 1: the San Francisco 49ers, the Sherman Bowl, and it was everything.
- 0:20Speaker 2: That I thought it would be. We're going to talk
- 0:22Speaker 2: about all the other games.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We'll talk about your Detroit Lions putting the shellacking on
- 0:26Speaker 1: the Arizona Cardinals.
- 0:27Speaker 2: We'll talk about... A lot of things.
- 0:30Speaker 1: But right now, we got to get right to this
- 0:32Speaker 1: game because these two defenses played outstanding football, Mitchell. Hey,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and everybody that's new, hit that like and subscribe button
- 0:42Speaker 1: to keep getting great content.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Mitchell, what did you think of the game?
- 0:45Speaker 3: I mean, Richard, we'll stick in this NFC West with you,
- 0:50Speaker 3: the Sherman Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers teeing off against
- 0:53Speaker 3: the Seattle Seahawks. And you called it, my friend. Coming
- 0:56Speaker 3: to this game, I challenged you to finally pick a winner.
- 1:00Speaker 3: And I believe you had the San Francisco 49ers by
- 1:02Speaker 3: three points. And here we are. Winners by three points.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We saw it. All-game adversity, right? I mean, before the half,
- 1:11Speaker 3: absolute momentum shifter. Grayson Halton, scoop and score, forcing the
- 1:17Speaker 3: fumble on George Helani at the end zone. Richard, this
- 1:20Speaker 3: game could have gone either way. How did the San
- 1:23Speaker 3: Francisco 49ers pull this one off?
- 1:27Speaker 1: It was a defensive masterpiece by both sides. I know
- 1:33Speaker 1: Mike McDonald is frustrated that they lost, but I don't
- 1:37Speaker 1: know if you could have expected them to play much better.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And this is from every level of the defense. They
- 1:42Speaker 1: played great coverage. I'm sure you could argue that Josh
- 1:46Speaker 1: Joe on Mike Evans could have done better, and we'll
- 1:50Speaker 1: talk about that later in the show because I want
- 1:52Speaker 1: to talk about a bit of the rigidity of this
- 1:54Speaker 1: defense because you're playing a corner defense $ 35 million. You're
- 1:58Speaker 1: paying a corner $ 35 million. And if you're having trouble
- 2:01Speaker 1: stopping a guy and you're paying a corner $ 35 million,
- 2:04Speaker 1: usually those two guys match up at some point because
- 2:07Speaker 1: when you're having this kind of issue. People can say, oh,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Richard Sherman, you didn't match up with guys. If there
- 2:12Speaker 1: was a corner struggling like this, then the coach would
- 2:16Speaker 1: eventually say, hey, Sherman, go get him. Figure it out.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Let's get this figured out until we get to the
- 2:20Speaker 1: next drive and we'll be fine. And that's what would
- 2:23Speaker 1: have happened. but I don't think that's possible with the
- 2:26Speaker 1: way this defensive structure is. Not that Josh Jobe couldn't
- 2:29Speaker 1: get it done, but he has to stay inside in
- 2:32Speaker 1: some capacity unless his base downs and then he moves outside,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but that's the issue a little bit where you have
- 2:39Speaker 1: such a great player like Witherspoon and Emin War and
- 2:41Speaker 1: those guys, but you couldn't put them on Mike Evans
- 2:45Speaker 1: in this defense. They can't schematically change that many moving parts,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and But I want to talk about these defenses. I
- 2:54Speaker 1: want to talk about what happened in this game. First off,
- 2:56Speaker 1: they started off playing great defenses. The only reason these
- 2:59Speaker 1: offenses scored in the first and second half until the
- 3:02Speaker 1: fourth quarter was because these defenses set them up to score.
- 3:06Speaker 1: The first one was Jacob Cowling muffing a punt, muffed punt,
- 3:11Speaker 1: sets the Seahawks up for their first touchdown. Sam Darnold
- 3:14Speaker 1: throws a pick to Jackson Smith and Jigba. Renardo Green
- 3:18Speaker 1: reads it on the out route. This isn't tips and overthrows.
- 3:20Speaker 1: This isn't luck. This is a guy who did his homework,
- 3:23Speaker 1: read his indicators, and made an incredible play. And then
- 3:27Speaker 1: we got to talk about the defensive line for the
- 3:31Speaker 1: San Francisco 49ers because all week I kind of tried
- 3:35Speaker 1: to get people to understand this defense has been playing
- 3:37Speaker 1: great football. And they're like, oh, that's fake. They've just
- 3:39Speaker 1: been playing against this team and this team. And these
- 3:42Speaker 1: teams stink. Do they stink now? Do you get it now?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Do you see it? These guys are playing. Grayson Halton,
- 3:47Speaker 1: with the breakout game that he had, the rookie fourth-round pick.
- 3:52Speaker 1: He's been making a few splash plays here and there,
- 3:54Speaker 1: but gets his first sack of his career in this
- 3:57Speaker 1: game and then makes the biggest play of his NFL career,
- 4:00Speaker 1: very short NFL career, near the end of the half
- 4:04Speaker 1: with only a few seconds on the clock. I mean, Mitchell,
- 4:06Speaker 1: some people had already stopped watching the game and went
- 4:09Speaker 1: to go get their popcorn and go get their food
- 4:11Speaker 1: and take their beer break or whatever they do during halftime.
- 4:14Speaker 1: And he makes one of the biggest plays in the
- 4:17Speaker 1: game and really– with the point differential, the way it was,
- 4:21Speaker 1: it was a huge deciding factor and a momentum shifter
- 4:25Speaker 1: in this game, because I thought the Seahawks had kind
- 4:27Speaker 1: of climbed back in, kind of pulled the momentum back
- 4:30Speaker 1: to at least even. And then he makes a play
- 4:32Speaker 1: on the goal line. And I know the outside world
- 4:35Speaker 1: hindsight is 2020. Mike should have just kneeled the ball.
- 4:39Speaker 1: No teams do that. No teams do that. And no
- 4:42Speaker 1: teams are expecting this to happen. This, this, This is
- 4:45Speaker 1: a one in a hundred thousand. It may not be
- 4:48Speaker 1: one in a million, one in a billion, but it's
- 4:50Speaker 1: one in a hundred thousand play. It rarely happens. And
- 4:53Speaker 1: if you kneel the ball, it just doesn't end up
- 4:56Speaker 1: working out. You know, everybody has all the answers when
- 4:58Speaker 1: you're not calling the play because something bad happens. Just
- 5:01Speaker 1: because something bad happens doesn't mean.
- 5:02Speaker 2: It was the wrong call.
- 5:03Speaker 1: George Helani has to hold on to the football. But
- 5:06Speaker 1: give Grayson Halton a lot of credit. and give Fred
- 5:10Speaker 1: Warner a lot of credit. These were forced fumbles. These
- 5:13Speaker 1: weren't guys dropping the football. These weren't guys just bobbling it.
- 5:16Speaker 1: These were forced fumbles. Fred Warner punched it. Grayson Halton
- 5:20Speaker 1: pulled it out. Now, George Helani had another fumble in
- 5:22Speaker 1: the game where he just dropped the ball. It looked
- 5:25Speaker 1: like it got punched by Casper, the friendly ghost. But
- 5:27Speaker 1: that was my concern. This running back room, and it's
- 5:30Speaker 1: still a concern, is a huge weakness. Now, at some point,
- 5:34Speaker 1: you expect that they'll get Sharpenay back, and they'll lean
- 5:38Speaker 1: on him a little bit more. There's a reason they're
- 5:41Speaker 1: trying to sign running backs, but this is a huge issue,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and it showed up in a big way. Those turnovers
- 5:46Speaker 1: were the difference in the game, I mean, on top
- 5:48Speaker 1: of the interceptions. But the Seattle Seahawks defense never wavered.
- 5:53Speaker 2: They never blinked.
- 5:55Speaker 1: They kept giving their offense opportunity after opportunity. They kept
- 5:59Speaker 1: shutting them down. multiple turnovers in the second half. They
- 6:03Speaker 1: took one from Debo Samuel when he kind of just
- 6:05Speaker 1: dropped the ball on the end around.
- 6:07Speaker 2: They picked off Brock Purdy.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Nathaniel Pritchett made a great play on Brock Purdy, set
- 6:13Speaker 1: him up in scoring position, and then they held. Both
- 6:18Speaker 1: teams showing their championship medal. These are the Super Bowl champs,
- 6:21Speaker 1: the reigning Super Bowl champs. They're going to make plays
- 6:23Speaker 1: to put their team in position. They're going to force,
- 6:25Speaker 1: they're going to wield their way. The reigning offensive player
- 6:28Speaker 1: of the year, Jackson Smith and Jigba, made plays with
- 6:31Speaker 1: his ankle, a little banged up in the game. When
- 6:33Speaker 1: they had to have it, he was making play after
- 6:35Speaker 1: play after play to get his team back in this game.
- 6:39Speaker 1: And the unfortunate part is that the only thing that
- 6:44Speaker 1: will be remembered is Jackson Smith and Jigba dropping that
- 6:47Speaker 1: third and 10 pass when he was wide open on
- 6:49Speaker 1: that seven cut. And that's just, I mean, I don't
- 6:53Speaker 1: know what to say about that. That's just uncharacteristic. That's
- 6:55Speaker 1: just a bad bounce. That's just a bad beat. I mean,
- 6:58Speaker 1: he's a great player with some of the most sure hands,
- 7:00Speaker 1: but this is the NFL. Things like that happen sometimes,
- 7:02Speaker 1: but that was a huge factor in the game. And
- 7:06Speaker 1: you got to give the San Francisco 49ers defense credit
- 7:12Speaker 1: because during those sudden changes, they were able to hold.
- 7:15Speaker 1: They were able to force field goals, and that's what allowed–
- 7:20Speaker 1: them to be in position to set up Brock Purdy
- 7:23Speaker 1: to be able to drive down the field with Mike Evans.
- 7:25Speaker 1: This is why you bring a guy like Mike Evans
- 7:27Speaker 1: in if you're the San Francisco 49ers. You talk about
- 7:30Speaker 1: a true number one receiver. Everybody arguing in the offseason, oh,
- 7:33Speaker 1: he's over the hill.
- 7:34Speaker 2: He's this. He's that. He's old.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I'm going to let you know something. Have you ever
- 7:38Speaker 1: seen old carnivores, Mitchell, like an old T-Rex, an old lion,
- 7:42Speaker 1: an old tiger? Would you ever want to be locked
- 7:43Speaker 1: in a cage with a Mitchell? Because I don't care
- 7:46Speaker 1: how old they are. Those teeth are still sharp. They
- 7:48Speaker 1: still know how to do what they do. They still
- 7:50Speaker 1: know how to hunt and eat. And Mike Evans is
- 7:53Speaker 1: one of the all-time greats in the National Football League.
- 7:56Speaker 1: He's a big play threat. He's a mismatch anytime he's
- 7:59Speaker 1: on the field. And I love that Brock Purdy was
- 8:01Speaker 1: put in a position where he did not have a
- 8:03Speaker 1: choice but to throw him the football. Like, I think
- 8:07Speaker 1: that's what it was going to take for Brock to
- 8:10Speaker 1: finally understand who Mike Evans is. Like, when he does
- 8:13Speaker 1: not have a choice, he has to third down, third
- 8:16Speaker 1: and ten or whatever it was, Hey, Mike Evans is one-on-one.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He looks covered, but you got to throw it. And
- 8:22Speaker 1: he threw it and he saw Mike Evans win. And
- 8:24Speaker 1: then he threw the two point conversion. Hey, scrambling around,
- 8:27Speaker 1: running around. Everybody's covered. Mike's covered too, but then he
- 8:30Speaker 1: throws it. And Mike Evans makes the play and you
- 8:33Speaker 1: got to give you, you got to start to do that.
- 8:35Speaker 2: You got to feed him. He needs 10 targets a game.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I think in order for him to really be show who,
- 8:40Speaker 1: what he's capable of and how much of an asset
- 8:42Speaker 1: he can be for this team. Uh, Christian McCaffrey was
- 8:46Speaker 1: able to get some yardage on the ground. 11 carries
- 8:48Speaker 1: for 68 yards. George Kittle didn't do a ton. He
- 8:51Speaker 1: had a 13-yard catch. Brandon Cooks gets in the end zone,
- 8:54Speaker 1: a critical touchdown after the timeout call, the timeout, last-second
- 9:00Speaker 1: timeout after they threw him a touchdown pass. They turn around,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and Brock Purdy throws him a touchdown pass. Fred Warner
- 9:07Speaker 1: had a great game. The battle of these two linebacker
- 9:09Speaker 1: groups was an underrated storyline in this game. Fred Warner
- 9:14Speaker 1: and Drake Greenlaw, Drake Thomas and Ernest Jones. And Ernest
- 9:19Speaker 1: Jones made a critical play, Mitchell, and he wasn't even
- 9:22Speaker 1: on the field. He made a critical play. And I
- 9:24Speaker 1: know if you're a San Francisco 49ers fan, you're up
- 9:27Speaker 1: in arms.
- 9:27Speaker 2: He shouldn't be in his face. Yes, he should. He
- 9:29Speaker 2: on the sideline. It's the game within the game.
- 9:33Speaker 1: And if the jersey numbers and the jersey colors were
- 9:35Speaker 1: swapped and it was your team did it, you would
- 9:37Speaker 1: have called it a great play because that's what it was.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Great job by Ernest Jones. Being a heady player and saying, hey,
- 9:44Speaker 1: everything is elevated. Everything is heated. Let me heat it
- 9:47Speaker 1: up a little bit more and see if we can
- 9:48Speaker 1: get a little bit more out of this. See if
- 9:50Speaker 1: we can squeeze a little bit more juice out of it.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And he got one of San Francisco 49ers' best players
- 9:56Speaker 1: ejected from the game while he was on the sideline.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Sure, he drew a little blow.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Now. He drew a little blood. He's a sacrifice. But
- 10:03Speaker 1: on the flip side, Drake Greenlaw, my guy, that's my guy.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I was there winning the rookie. We went to a
- 10:08Speaker 1: Super Bowl, that huge play he made in Seattle to
- 10:11Speaker 1: win the game for us and get us the number
- 10:14Speaker 1: one seed. That season, he knows better. He knows better.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And Kyle, thank goodness they rallied around him. After that,
- 10:23Speaker 1: it was another sack by, I think, Valdez and a
- 10:27Speaker 1: sack by Adigizua to kind of rally behind him.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And they didn't allow that.
- 10:32Speaker 1: To turn into a back-breaking moment for the San Francisco 49ers.
- 10:36Speaker 1: But I think Ernest Jones deserves a lot of credit
- 10:38Speaker 1: for just being a heady player. Mitchell, there are so
- 10:41Speaker 1: many instances, so many things like that where the tides
- 10:44Speaker 1: change in a game where you don't really understand.
- 10:46Speaker 2: You're like, oh, man, he shouldn't get in the guy's face. Yes,
- 10:49Speaker 2: he should. All is fair.
- 10:50Speaker 1: If he's within the rules, he's on his sideline, he's
- 10:53Speaker 1: not breaking any rules, he's not doing anything, he can
- 10:55Speaker 1: do it. If you react a certain way, that's on you.
- 11:01Speaker 1: And another MVP of this game I want to give,
- 11:03Speaker 1: Mike Evans. Mike Evans, you know, and I love Trey Diggs.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Trey Diggs is a friend of mine, a good dude.
- 11:09Speaker 1: But that time, when he walked over and pulled and
- 11:12Speaker 1: looked at his name on the back.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Of the jersey... Oh, my God.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I was in tears, and I wanted to go back,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and I was like, I wish I had a time
- 11:21Speaker 1: machine because next time I got into a confrontation on
- 11:24Speaker 1: the field, I just walk up to the guy and
- 11:26Speaker 1: look at the back of his jersey like, I don't
- 11:28Speaker 1: have to say anything. That says it all. I don't
- 11:30Speaker 1: know who you are, and you're on my field talking
- 11:33Speaker 1: to me. I'm trying to figure out what you think
- 11:34Speaker 1: this is going to be. And Mike Evans tries to
- 11:37Speaker 1: play it off later and says, oh, you know, trade day.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Because Mike Evans is actually a really, really cool dude
- 11:41Speaker 1: on the field. That's going to be an all-time moment,
- 11:44Speaker 1: no question about it.
- 11:45Speaker 3: He pulled one from you, Richard. There's no question about it.
- 11:50Speaker 3: You don't see that very often from Mike Evans. And
- 11:52Speaker 3: like you talked about, this has totally transformed this offense.
- 11:55Speaker 3: It's given Brock Purdy that number one reliable wide receiving
- 11:59Speaker 3: option that he frankly has never had outside of George Kittle.
- 12:02Speaker 3: This team, I mean, what one season difference can make
- 12:07Speaker 3: for a team? The last time they were in Lumen Field,
- 12:09Speaker 3: they got beat 41-6. And here they are knocking off
- 12:13Speaker 3: the defending Super Bowl champions. the 32 to 29. Richard,
- 12:19Speaker 3: what's the ceiling for this team? They look like they're
- 12:22Speaker 3: borderline unbeatable right now. I got to believe they're Super
- 12:25Speaker 3: Bowl favorites. I mean, call me down here.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what the ceiling is because we
- 12:31Speaker 1: haven't seen this team fully healthy. I mean, in this game,
- 12:34Speaker 1: another huge factor in this game was the terrible officiating.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I thought this was one of the worst officiated games.
- 12:39Speaker 1: And a lot of the calls were went against the Niners,
- 12:43Speaker 1: and there was an intentional grounding where Brock Purdy, I
- 12:46Speaker 1: thought it was going to, you know, you're going to
- 12:47Speaker 1: rule it a fumble, but the tight end recovers it,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and then they say it's intentional grounding when the tight
- 12:52Speaker 1: end's right there. I thought that was a crazy call.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I thought there were a number of bad calls that
- 12:56Speaker 1: went against the San Francisco 49ers, but at the end
- 12:58Speaker 1: of that game, on fourth and ten, Cooper Cupp breaks
- 13:01Speaker 1: a tackle, goes down the sideline, kind of tiptoes the sideline,
- 13:05Speaker 1: reaches for the first down, and it looked like he
- 13:07Speaker 1: got it. In my eyes, it looked like he got that,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and The ref calls him down. It looked like he
- 13:13Speaker 1: stepped out. That's what the ref called. You go back
- 13:16Speaker 1: to the replay. He did not step out. Now, you
- 13:18Speaker 1: can't see where the plane is. I don't think they
- 13:20Speaker 1: had a good enough angle to see, hey, where does
- 13:22Speaker 1: the ball cross the plane? They would have needed a
- 13:25Speaker 1: top angle right over the top to see where his
- 13:27Speaker 1: body crossed the line with the ball, et cetera, et cetera.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And they didn't have that angle, so they couldn't overturn
- 13:32Speaker 1: the field. But I thought that was a bad call.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I don't think you ever leave it in the ref's
- 13:37Speaker 1: hands in that situation. I think if Jackson Smith and
- 13:39Speaker 1: Jigba catches that seven cut, we never get to this
- 13:41Speaker 1: situation where there's a controversial call.
- 13:43Speaker 2: But there was.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I don't know what the ceiling is for this team.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But when they get healthy, when they get Demarcus Robinson back,
- 13:51Speaker 1: when they get Stribling back, when they get Nicholas John Bolson,
- 13:55Speaker 1: think about a reigning defensive player of the year just sitting,
- 13:59Speaker 1: healing up while you go 5-0. While you're D-line, that
- 14:02Speaker 1: has to be a scary proposition for both teams. You've
- 14:04Speaker 1: got to think, Sam Darnold didn't play his best football
- 14:07Speaker 1: in this game, and they still had a great chance
- 14:09Speaker 1: to win. So if you're the 49ers, you've got to say, hey,
- 14:14Speaker 1: there's some meat on the bone on the other side.
- 14:15Speaker 1: This team is a great team, and they had a
- 14:17Speaker 1: chance to win this game. They had opportunities. Regardless of
- 14:19Speaker 1: how well that defense played, they still had opportunities. But
- 14:22Speaker 1: if you're the Seattle Seahawks, and you're watching this game,
- 14:24Speaker 1: and you're saying, hey, their best defensive lineman, is Nicholas
- 14:30Speaker 1: John Bolsa, and he wasn't on the field, and they
- 14:32Speaker 1: sacked us five times. I don't think before this game
- 14:36Speaker 1: you could have named, I don't think anybody on the Seahawks,
- 14:39Speaker 1: if you're a fan, would have named the five guys
- 14:41Speaker 1: that got sacks in this game, outside of Adigie Zua probably,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know. And that's the great thing. I think the
- 14:50Speaker 1: growth of this defensive line, the maturity, guys starting to
- 14:53Speaker 1: develop into issues, guys starting to shine, with in the
- 14:57Speaker 1: absence of Nicholas John Bosa is only going to bolster
- 14:59Speaker 1: them more when he returns, give a lot of credit
- 15:02Speaker 1: to Mustafa and Jair Brown too.
- 15:05Speaker 2: They played really well.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I mean, when there was, there was a couple of
- 15:08Speaker 1: plays early on where Mustafa was a missile and coming
- 15:11Speaker 1: downhill and just really setting the tone, setting the tempo
- 15:14Speaker 1: time and time again, he was doing that. And I
- 15:17Speaker 1: think he deserves a ton of credit. Uh, Jaden Duggar
- 15:20Speaker 1: came in there, made some plays, had a sack of
- 15:22Speaker 1: this game as well. Uh, I thought he played admirably.
- 15:25Speaker 1: You could tell he's not playing as fast as Ray
- 15:28Speaker 1: Greenlaw's playing. He's still figuring it out. But I think
- 15:31Speaker 1: he went in there and held it down as best
- 15:34Speaker 1: he could. Again, another really solid game for the 49ers
- 15:38Speaker 1: offensive line. I knew they would give up sacks in
- 15:39Speaker 1: this game just because you got Byron Murphy. Byron Murphy
- 15:44Speaker 1: is earning himself a $ 30 million contract, Mitchell. Whether it's
- 15:48Speaker 1: here or somewhere else, Byron Murphy is going to get paid.
- 15:51Speaker 1: He was unblockable in the first half, in the second half.
- 15:54Speaker 1: They're double teaming him. And I knew that, hey, you
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't just forget things year to year. Like certain things
- 16:00Speaker 1: carry over. And Byron Murphy and his defensive line carries over.
- 16:04Speaker 1: He was causing problems. And you can tell the offense
- 16:07Speaker 1: was sitting back, getting ready for him to bull rush.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And all he was doing was attacking edges. And that's
- 16:12Speaker 1: the game within a game. We're not going to go
- 16:13Speaker 1: too deep into that. But he was a huge factor
- 16:16Speaker 1: for the Seahawks. And that's another positive sign. from this game,
- 16:19Speaker 1: a guy that could be dominant at times. And I
- 16:22Speaker 1: look forward to seeing him continue that. I knew this
- 16:26Speaker 1: game would be electric, and it lived up to all
- 16:29Speaker 1: the billing. Seven turnovers between both of these defenses and
- 16:33Speaker 1: a spectacular ending.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I can't wait for the next one.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Let's talk a little bit more about the Seattle Seahawks.
- 16:39Speaker 3: This team is 1-2 in their last three games. This
- 16:41Speaker 3: is not something the Seattle 12s are used to, and
- 16:44Speaker 3: that's losing. What's the panic meter like in Seattle right now?
- 16:49Speaker 3: They've been unable to establish a run game. The Kenneth
- 16:52Speaker 3: Walker absence is glaring. And they tried to establish it today,
- 16:57Speaker 3: given Emmanuel Wilson, 20 carries, netting 61 yards. If you're
- 17:01Speaker 3: in Seattle, which you are, Richard, what's the panic meter at?
- 17:06Speaker 2: It's not very high for me.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Some things I'm concerned about are early turnovers by Sam Darnold,
- 17:13Speaker 1: multiple interceptions on plays where it looked like You know, the.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Play to Arroyo, I thought Arroyo.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Had a step. You got to hit him on time.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You got to get it there. He wasn't able to
- 17:22Speaker 1: do that. The other interception, you kind of got to
- 17:26Speaker 1: eat that football or figure out somewhere else to go
- 17:28Speaker 1: with it. Renardo Green had a great break on it.
- 17:30Speaker 1: You got to just accept that, hey, no matter what,
- 17:33Speaker 1: this is my best receiver. He's a guy, but we
- 17:36Speaker 1: don't have it right here, and you got to eat that.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And I think Sam has that maturity to understand that,
- 17:40Speaker 1: to see the film and improve. The run game lacking
- 17:44Speaker 1: and continuing to lack. And I know Emmanuel Wilson had
- 17:46Speaker 1: a couple, you know, he had a couple plays in
- 17:48Speaker 1: the red zone. I saw he had a lane and
- 17:52Speaker 1: he did okay with that. But overall, the overall run
- 17:55Speaker 1: game and the ideas behind it, you know, was limited today.
- 17:58Speaker 1: And you got to give San Francisco a lot of
- 18:00Speaker 1: credit for that. But I think they got to find
- 18:04Speaker 1: another back or get Sharpen A back in there. I
- 18:06Speaker 1: think they have to find ways to open that up more.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I like that they were trying to attack with Shahid
- 18:11Speaker 1: down the field. I think I would love to see
- 18:13Speaker 1: more of that. getting Barner involved, A.J. Barner more involved
- 18:17Speaker 1: in the game. I would love to see more of that. But, no,
- 18:20Speaker 1: my panic meter isn't high. Mitchell Adetian is probably a four.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Still, the Seattle Seahawks team, man, they've been so dominant
- 18:27Speaker 3: over the last couple years. They've got to find their
- 18:30Speaker 3: groove here. They'll get an opportunity next Thursday, a game
- 18:33Speaker 3: you'll be at in Denver. We'll see if they can
- 18:36Speaker 3: shake off these losing ways over the last couple weeks.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Let's go to Arizona. I've been itching to talk about
- 18:43Speaker 3: my team, the Detroit Lions. Nervous coming into this game, admittedly.
- 18:48Speaker 3: At 2-2, this is not the start of the season
- 18:50Speaker 3: that us Detroit Lions fans expected. And, you know, you
- 18:55Speaker 3: saw the Carolina Panthers on the schedule and you thought, okay,
- 18:58Speaker 3: that's more than likely a win. Until you get diced
- 19:01Speaker 3: up by Bryce Love. And this defense looked like Swiss
- 19:05Speaker 3: cheese out there. Holes everywhere. Kelvin Shepard was very vocal
- 19:09Speaker 3: and animated in his press conference this week, talking about
- 19:12Speaker 3: his defense, saying that it was the right calls, that
- 19:15Speaker 3: they just need to execute a little bit better. We
- 19:17Speaker 3: saw a change today. We didn't see as much of
- 19:20Speaker 3: a blitz-heavy focus. We saw dropping more guys back into coverage,
- 19:24Speaker 3: and it seemed to work. Granted, their play against Arizona,
- 19:28Speaker 3: the Detroit Lions looked like the Detroit Lions of two
- 19:31Speaker 3: years ago, dominating this game. That being said, could not
- 19:35Speaker 3: score in the first quarter. Again, scoring 24 points in
- 19:39Speaker 3: the second quarter alone to get them started. And then
- 19:42Speaker 3: we see Jameer Gibbs rush for his 58th or score
- 19:46Speaker 3: his 58th touchdown, passing Barry Sanders for most total touchdowns
- 19:50Speaker 3: before the age of 25. The Lions certainly have a
- 19:54Speaker 3: good one here. Richard, take my bias out of this, please,
- 19:59Speaker 3: because in my eyes, the Lions are back. They're going
- 20:02Speaker 3: into the bye week. They look better. What do you
- 20:05Speaker 3: see from this team, this improvement this week? Is it
- 20:08Speaker 3: more of the opponent or do you think schematically there
- 20:11Speaker 3: are changes that you like?
- 20:14Speaker 1: Both, both, both are true. I think there are changes
- 20:18Speaker 1: that I like schematically. I think guys are in better position.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I think guys are coached better, how to melt, how
- 20:24Speaker 1: to relate to people within their zone. 99, 99% of
- 20:26Speaker 1: the time you're looking at the quarterback every now and
- 20:30Speaker 1: you're glancing to figure out who's in your zone and
- 20:32Speaker 1: figure that out. I think they, likely went back to
- 20:34Speaker 1: the fundamentals and were able to reemphasize that and say, hey,
- 20:38Speaker 1: we don't need all this fancy 1,000 calls. We're going
- 20:41Speaker 1: to play quarters. We're going to play this and do
- 20:43Speaker 1: all this sexy stuff. We need to just go back
- 20:45Speaker 1: to the basics, run the basics, and master them. And
- 20:48Speaker 1: we'll let our front rush. They sacked Jacoby Brissett five
- 20:52Speaker 1: times in this game, still had the success they needed
- 20:55Speaker 1: while playing really solid football on the back end.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I think this is something they can build on.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I thought it was a disastrous press conference when Kelvin
- 21:02Speaker 1: Shepard said all that because You start to wonder who
- 21:04Speaker 1: he's throwing under the bus there. But his team responded
- 21:07Speaker 1: in a big way, and you got to respect that.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I think everybody can respect that. This offense, 45 points
- 21:12Speaker 1: in the game, phenomenal game, no question about that. But
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think, obviously, you're impressed with how this defense stood up,
- 21:20Speaker 1: especially early on. They ended up giving up 21 points,
- 21:23Speaker 1: but the game was out of hand at that point. And,
- 21:25Speaker 1: you know, they were mostly in prevent. Jameer Gibbs, 58 touchdowns,
- 21:30Speaker 1: passing Barry Sanders for most of all time. is incredible
- 21:33Speaker 1: before turning 25. I mean, the sky's the limit for
- 21:36Speaker 1: that guy. You guys are blessed to have him. And
- 21:40Speaker 1: he's a guy that's one of the best at his
- 21:42Speaker 1: position in the National Football League, and that's really impressive.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I need to tell you about this new prediction market
- 21:48Speaker 1: called Polymarket. It's the best new way to trade in sports.
- 21:53Speaker 3: In the past, if you wanted action on the game,
- 21:56Speaker 3: you put some money in. And if your team was
- 21:58Speaker 3: doing well and you wanted to cash out, They'd lock
- 22:01Speaker 3: the trade or take a huge fee.
- 22:04Speaker 1: But Polymarket is a prediction market. It's a stock exchange
- 22:08Speaker 1: for sports, buying in and selling out on your terms.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Richard, I've tried them all, and Polymarket is simply the
- 22:16Speaker 3: best prediction market. It's better than DraftKings. It's better than FanDuel, CalSheet,
- 22:21Speaker 3: you name it.
- 22:22Speaker 1: And they're so confident that you will never go back
- 22:25Speaker 1: to the other guys that they're giving you a free
- 22:27Speaker 1: $ 25 on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10.
- 22:32Speaker 3: And now they've launched a new feature. It's called Squads,
- 22:36Speaker 3: a group chat where you can see what everyone is
- 22:38Speaker 3: trading on.
- 22:40Speaker 1: So download the Polymarket app today and use the promo
- 22:43Speaker 1: code Sherman when you sign up. That's S-H-E-R-M-A-N to get

- 23:06Speaker 3: And you haven't stopped talking about them you've been talking
- 23:09Speaker 3: about them before they even arrived.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Because they take me back to my childhood era man
- 23:14Speaker 1: rip the bean mitchell Any chance I get to just
- 23:19Speaker 1: remember the bean and have something that he wore, it

- 24:29Speaker 3: And what a crazy start to the Sunday morning, Richard.
- 24:34Speaker 3: 6.30 a.m. Pacific time. I know you were up and
- 24:37Speaker 3: at it watching the Jaguars take on the Eagles in London.
- 24:40Speaker 3: And boy, did that fan base in London get a show.
- 24:44Speaker 3: What looked like a walk-off Eagles win quickly turned to
- 24:48Speaker 3: a walk-off Jaguars win. Richard, simply put, how the heck
- 24:53Speaker 3: does this happen?
- 24:57Speaker 2: That was one of the most bizarre games, especially near
- 25:00Speaker 2: the end.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I mean, but throughout the game, there were so many
- 25:02Speaker 1: bizarre moments. You think about right before the half ended,
- 25:05Speaker 1: all the Jacksonville mistakes. Was it a fumble? Was it
- 25:09Speaker 1: not a fumble? Then they get the ball back, and
- 25:11Speaker 1: then they cannot convert. They end up getting zero points
- 25:14Speaker 1: before the half when they could have at least had three.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And there were a number of red zone trips that
- 25:20Speaker 1: just really had you scratching your head. There was a trip.
- 25:23Speaker 1: They were at the, I think it was the two-yard line,
- 25:26Speaker 1: And then Trevor Lawrence gets two delay a game penalties
- 25:30Speaker 1: that knocks them back almost all the way to like
- 25:33Speaker 1: the 15-yard line. And you're like, okay. And again, they
- 25:38Speaker 1: end up not converting. But when they had to have it,
- 25:42Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence puts a pass up on fourth down to
- 25:46Speaker 1: Parker Washington, who makes a one-handed grab over to Reek
- 25:50Speaker 1: Woolen to what appeared to be seal this game. But
- 25:56Speaker 1: It was not to be, Mitchell. Cam Little misses the
- 26:02Speaker 1: extra point, which only leaves the Jacksonville Jaguars up two.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Philadelphia goes down the field. Jake Elliott hits a 48-yarder
- 26:12Speaker 1: with eight seconds to go, or 12 seconds remaining in
- 26:15Speaker 1: the game. And at that point, you think, all right,
- 26:19Speaker 1: that's it. That's it, that's all. Ladies and gentlemen, get
- 26:22Speaker 1: to your cars, get to your, Get to your homes.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Get ready for the next games. This one's over. Philadelphia fans,
- 26:28Speaker 1: sigh of relief. The offense was banged up coming into
- 26:31Speaker 1: this game. No Saquon Barkley, no Devontae Smith, and they
- 26:34Speaker 1: were able to come out with a win. They're big-time players.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Jalen Carter, two sacks, forced fumble. Played big in this game.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Quinion Mitchell gets the first regular season interception of his career.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Big play.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Thought the defense played really well against one of the
- 26:49Speaker 1: most talented receiving cores. I know Trevor Lawrence was 24-39.
- 26:53Speaker 1: for 331 and two touchdowns but they did get the
- 26:56Speaker 1: interception they did sack him twice Jalen Carter um but
- 27:00Speaker 1: nobody's stopping Parker Washington right now he was sick he
- 27:02Speaker 1: had six catches for 124 and two touchdowns uh defensively
- 27:08Speaker 1: you this opportunistic Jacksonville defense did not was not able
- 27:13Speaker 1: to get a turnover uh on Jalen Hurts in this
- 27:15Speaker 1: game they they really did a great job um just
- 27:19Speaker 1: containing them. They held them to, I want to say,
- 27:22Speaker 1: 22 overall rushing yards as a team. They held the
- 27:25Speaker 1: Eagles to 22 yards rushing as a team. And that's
- 27:29Speaker 1: an incredible stat. That's an incredible day. You never hear
- 27:31Speaker 1: about an NFL team being held that well in check.
- 27:36Speaker 1: But Jacksonville's red zone struggles, I thought, would doom them today.
- 27:40Speaker 1: They were 0-3 in the red zone. We talked about
- 27:43Speaker 1: their struggles. But Weren't we just talking about Amir Abdullah?
- 27:48Speaker 2: We were. Weren't we just talking about him?
- 27:50Speaker 1: And you were like, man, how is he still in
- 27:51Speaker 1: the league? Mitchell, this is how he's still in the league.
- 27:55Speaker 3: It's wild.
- 27:58Speaker 2: It's really wild.
- 27:59Speaker 1: When they needed to have it, Amir Abdullah, with one
- 28:03Speaker 1: of the biggest kick return moments in his life, I'm sure,
- 28:07Speaker 1: sets them up for the game-winning field goal, gives Cam
- 28:10Speaker 1: Little a chance at redemption, and he takes care of business,
- 28:13Speaker 1: knocks it through, and takes his helmet off, shows so
- 28:16Speaker 1: much emotion in London. I'm sure he heard it from
- 28:18Speaker 1: those Philadelphia fans all day, especially after that miss, and
- 28:22Speaker 1: he wanted to show them, hey, I'm back. Now y'all
- 28:25Speaker 1: go home and talk about me. I respect it. I'm
- 28:28Speaker 1: a villain, Mitchell.
- 28:29Speaker 2: I love it.
- 28:30Speaker 3: And just for context, Richard and I were together last week,
- 28:33Speaker 3: and we saw Amir Abdullah got picked up by the Jags,
- 28:35Speaker 3: and I'm like, how the heck is this Amir Abdullah
- 28:38Speaker 3: guy still in the league? I mean, he was with
- 28:39Speaker 3: my Detroit Lions. He bounced around the league a long time.
- 28:42Speaker 3: And then here he is, and Richard simply says because
- 28:45Speaker 3: he's a difference maker in key situations. He's slippery. He's
- 28:49Speaker 3: a unique skill set to him, and we saw that today.
- 28:52Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 28:53Speaker 3: My main takeaway from this game, Richard, I thought the
- 28:56Speaker 3: Jaguars were good. Now I know they are good because
- 28:59Speaker 3: they did not play their A ball, and they came
- 29:01Speaker 3: out of this game with a win with their backs
- 29:04Speaker 3: against the wall in worst-case scenario. A team that can
- 29:07Speaker 3: win when they're not playing their best football, to me,
- 29:09Speaker 3: that's a tip of the cap to the Jaguars. On
- 29:12Speaker 3: the other side of that football field, the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 29:15Speaker 3: It looks to me, Richard, like they're punting on the season.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Cam Juergens gets traded. Obviously, Lane Johnson retires. Saquon Barkley's
- 29:24Speaker 3: status is pretty much up in the air. They're down
- 29:27Speaker 3: to Will Shipley and Damian Pearson are still hanging into
- 29:31Speaker 3: this game. What's the rest of the season outlook look
- 29:34Speaker 3: for the Philadelphia Eagles? I mean, is it.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Our playoffs?
- 29:40Speaker 3: The expectation for this team realistically?
- 29:42Speaker 1: I don't see how playoffs can be a realistic expectation.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Let me reverse that. I do.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Because of how the rest of the league and the
- 29:52Speaker 1: rest of this division has shaken out. The Cowboys are
- 29:55Speaker 1: three and two right now. The commanders and the Giants
- 30:00Speaker 1: have battled it out today. You know, the Giants are
- 30:02Speaker 1: still leading this division. So it's still, I think it's
- 30:06Speaker 1: still in reach for this team, but they have to
- 30:10Speaker 1: get some things figured out. I thought Jalen Hurts did
- 30:13Speaker 1: a really good job today. A solid job. I can't
- 30:14Speaker 1: say really good. Even he said it's not up to
- 30:17Speaker 1: his standard. It's not up to the standard they expect.
- 30:21Speaker 1: But with a bit of a skeleton crew, and missing, uh,
- 30:24Speaker 1: right tackle Lane Johnson, who just retired.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Uh, they trade away Cam Juergens.
- 30:29Speaker 1: These are, these are guys he hadn't gone to battle
- 30:31Speaker 1: with before figuring it out. Uh, Makai Lemon, uh, Darius
- 30:35Speaker 1: Cooper had, had the big catch and run, but a
- 30:38Speaker 1: lot of these guys haven't, he hasn't played in big games,
- 30:42Speaker 1: big moments with, and he needs to depend on them today.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So I thought under those circumstances, he did a solid job. Um,
- 30:51Speaker 1: You know, there were some things said during his press
- 30:53Speaker 1: conference that made you feel like maybe he's not trusting
- 30:55Speaker 1: the play calling, but he's executing it. He's doing his
- 30:57Speaker 1: best to execute it. But, you know, I think there
- 30:59Speaker 1: may be some doubts to some of the calls they're
- 31:03Speaker 1: making and whether he felt like, hey, I could have
- 31:05Speaker 1: said something and got us in a better call or
- 31:07Speaker 1: help them understand what's really happening out there so that
- 31:11Speaker 1: we can play better, so we can execute better, so
- 31:13Speaker 1: we can push the ball down the field in a
- 31:15Speaker 1: better way. This was a tough one. This was a
- 31:18Speaker 1: tough one. This was one of those emotional roller coasters
- 31:21Speaker 1: that kind of drains the team. They play the Carolina
- 31:24Speaker 1: Panthers next game, and I know Eagles fans are like, oh,
- 31:27Speaker 1: that's a get-right game.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Be careful.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I know the defense is playing really well. I know
- 31:31Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles defense has played really well. They're always,
- 31:35Speaker 1: Vic Fangio always has this defense ready. But that Carolina
- 31:38Speaker 1: Panthers offense with Bryce Young, I know what he's been
- 31:41Speaker 1: in the past, and he had his struggles. He is
- 31:44Speaker 1: striking right now. So be careful because that's not just a,
- 31:48Speaker 1: easy game. And then the Jags have the Texans who,
- 31:50Speaker 1: who seem like they kind of found their rhythm against
- 31:53Speaker 1: the Titans, but it's the Titans. So, uh, I'm not
- 31:56Speaker 1: putting any, uh, a ton of, uh, onus on that game,
- 31:59Speaker 1: but we will see what the Texans are when they
- 32:02Speaker 1: face the Jags. If the Jags have their way with them,
- 32:04Speaker 1: then the Texans are the same team that had been
- 32:06Speaker 1: struggling all season, but, uh, they were able to hold, hold, uh,
- 32:11Speaker 1: the Titans in place. Finally play some great defense. I
- 32:14Speaker 1: felt great about this game. This was, this was my,
- 32:17Speaker 1: a way to start the weekend.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Well, I agree with you on that. And to add
- 32:22Speaker 3: to your point, with the Eagles, if they want to
- 32:24Speaker 3: seriously look at the playoffs as their reasonable expectation for
- 32:27Speaker 3: this season, the offense is going to have to get
- 32:30Speaker 3: it together. We've seen the defense come together of late.
- 32:32Speaker 3: They certainly gave them an opportunity in this game. But
- 32:35Speaker 3: reality is, through five weeks of this season, the Philadelphia
- 32:39Speaker 3: Eagles have only scored 24 points twice. The rest of
- 32:42Speaker 3: the year, 20 points or sub that, 17-7. These are
- 32:47Speaker 3: not numbers that you're going to hang your hat on.
- 32:49Speaker 3: So a lot of eyes are going to be looking
- 32:51Speaker 3: at Jalen Hurts and what can he do? I think
- 32:54Speaker 3: he's a good quarterback, Richard, but I wonder if he's
- 32:56Speaker 3: a better athlete than he is a quarterback. Because when
- 32:59Speaker 3: you look at him, he's always had stars around him.
- 33:02Speaker 3: This is the first season we've seen without true star-studded
- 33:05Speaker 3: options opposite him. How is he going to be able
- 33:07Speaker 3: to elevate those players? I have not seen that yet,
- 33:10Speaker 3: and that's where questions arise for Philly. I know you
- 33:13Speaker 3: still think playoffs are the expectation. I would be surprised
- 33:17Speaker 3: if they make it there. The only thing I think
- 33:18Speaker 3: they have a fighting chance with is this division looks
- 33:22Speaker 3: rather weak. It looks NFC South-ish.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Right. But I'm not ready to write off Jalen Hurst
- 33:30Speaker 1: just yet. He's having his struggles, just like a lot
- 33:33Speaker 1: of these other quarterbacks have their struggles. They have their
- 33:35Speaker 1: peaks and valleys. And, of course, we criticize them when
- 33:37Speaker 1: they're in a valley. He's without his number one receiver. And, again,
- 33:41Speaker 1: you have to look at it with that lens. He's
- 33:43Speaker 1: without his number one. He's trying to make it happen.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And today he almost made it happen with Cooper and
- 33:50Speaker 1: Wicks and Makai Lemon and Dallas Goddard. You know, he
- 33:54Speaker 1: was almost able to get that done without much semblance
- 33:58Speaker 1: of a running game at all in this game. And
- 34:00Speaker 1: I think he's overcoming some things right now. I was
- 34:02Speaker 1: impressed with how he played under these circumstances. Now, you
- 34:06Speaker 1: still got to find a way to win, but he's
- 34:08Speaker 1: been a winning quarterback. So You have to give him
- 34:11Speaker 1: that credit. You know, there was some breaking news today
- 34:14Speaker 1: about the AFC South. The Houston Texans trade for Marvin
- 34:21Speaker 1: Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals. That was a move
- 34:25Speaker 1: we expected to happen. I mean, we expected him to
- 34:27Speaker 1: get traded away. Just looks like he's fell out of
- 34:29Speaker 1: the good graces. They're using Michael Wilson. They're not finding
- 34:34Speaker 1: a way to get him into football. It seems like
- 34:36Speaker 1: he's lost his confidence. A change of scenery would be
- 34:39Speaker 1: great for him. on the opposite side of Nico Collins
- 34:43Speaker 1: in that receiving core, I think he'd be a great addition,
- 34:45Speaker 1: and that's a great move for that team. I'm looking
- 34:47Speaker 1: forward to seeing how that works out. The other game
- 34:50Speaker 1: we had today, another early game we had, the Green
- 34:53Speaker 1: Bay Packers dismantled the Chicago Bears. In the last few games,
- 34:58Speaker 1: we've kind of seen the Chicago Bears, and you're like, hey,
- 35:00Speaker 1: Ben Johnson's doing a great job. Even without Caleb Williams
- 35:04Speaker 1: in the fold, he's found a way to do it
- 35:05Speaker 1: with Case Keenum and Tyson Bajan.
- 35:08Speaker 2: And this, on this day... Neither had the answers.
- 35:12Speaker 1: And this Green Bay Packer, Jonathan Gannon, coach-led defense, played
- 35:19Speaker 1: their best game of the season. They had three interceptions,
- 35:21Speaker 1: two fumble recoveries, just really, really created chaos out there.
- 35:28Speaker 1: They sacked Tyson Bajan twice, and they intercepted him twice.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And then they switched to Case Keenum, and they said,
- 35:33Speaker 1: you can get it too. Sacked him twice, intercepted him once.
- 35:37Speaker 1: It didn't matter who you put out there. It was
- 35:39Speaker 1: just their day. And give a lot of credit to
- 35:42Speaker 1: Jordan Love. Has dealt with a beat-up offensive line all
- 35:46Speaker 1: season long.
- 35:48Speaker 2: And they've kind of, you know, they.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Went to free agency and picked off everybody that has
- 35:53Speaker 1: ever started an NFL game in free agency when they
- 35:55Speaker 1: picked up. Makai Becton, Lakin Tomlinson. And, you know, they
- 36:01Speaker 1: played Lakin last game. And they're having success. Christian Watson
- 36:06Speaker 1: had a dominant game. Six catches, 143, two touchdowns, a
- 36:10Speaker 1: 42-yarder and a 53-yarder. Matthew Golden, 123 yards on six receptions,
- 36:15Speaker 1: another 50-yard long catch. And everybody was waiting for when
- 36:20Speaker 1: you were going to see all this speed, all this
- 36:22Speaker 1: speed finally break out for Green Bay. When are you
- 36:25Speaker 1: going to see all these weapons finally start to figure
- 36:28Speaker 1: it out for Green Bay?
- 36:29Speaker 2: And this was that day. They protect it.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Jordan Love, he was 25 of 31, 367, two touchdowns,
- 36:35Speaker 1: 137.5 passer ratings, 11.8 yards per attempt, and he was
- 36:40Speaker 1: only sacked twice.
- 36:42Speaker 2: That's a great game. That's a great game.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Devontae Wyatt, two sacks in a game, two TFLs, two
- 36:46Speaker 1: quarterback hits, and a forced fumble. Zaire Franklin, he was
- 36:51Speaker 1: all over the place, nine combined tackles, a TFL pass deflection.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Xavier McKinney had two picks on the day, a great safety,
- 36:58Speaker 1: one of the best safeties in the National Football League.
- 37:01Speaker 1: The Packers are doing a great job, and that's the
- 37:03Speaker 1: way you have to play. When your back's against the wall,
- 37:07Speaker 1: when things haven't been going well, they're finding a way
- 37:10Speaker 1: to stack wins against the team. Everybody thought, including us, Mitchell,
- 37:14Speaker 1: when we put them in the power rankings, I'm not
- 37:16Speaker 1: going to let them fool me again. I keep saying
- 37:18Speaker 1: I'm not going to let people fool me. Dallas keeps
- 37:20Speaker 1: getting me. Cleveland, I mean, Cincinnati's defense got me. Jacksonville
- 37:27Speaker 1: got me once, but This is inexcusable. This is inexcusable.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Their defense played a horrid game. And give the Green
- 37:36Speaker 1: Bay Packers all the credit in the world, but some
- 37:38Speaker 1: of these passes, you've got to be better than this.
- 37:40Speaker 1: You've got to expect, hey, Christian Watson, he's a vertical threat.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Matthew Golden, vertical threat. You know, stay on top of them.
- 37:47Speaker 1: You know, contain them. But they didn't.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Well, to steal one of your sayings, Richard, we thought
- 37:51Speaker 3: this was going to be a matchup. Missed match.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Because.
- 37:56Speaker 3: You look at it, and I don't know what it is,
- 37:58Speaker 3: these road games in division. I mean, people talk about
- 38:01Speaker 3: road divisional games. The Bears are the hot team. Everyone
- 38:04Speaker 3: thinks they're the hot team. We thought they were the
- 38:06Speaker 3: hot team. We both included them in our power ranks
- 38:08Speaker 3: this week. What is it with divisional games? Because this
- 38:12Speaker 3: is one of the most high-profile offenses in the NFL,
- 38:15Speaker 3: the Chicago Bears. Every other week, with the exception of
- 38:18Speaker 3: the Minnesota Vikings putting three points on the board, and
- 38:21Speaker 3: now against the Packers putting seven points on the board,
- 38:24Speaker 3: This team just looks like a shell of itself when
- 38:26Speaker 3: it plays a divisional opponent on the road. And I
- 38:28Speaker 3: know the excuses are going to be coming flying. Caleb
- 38:32Speaker 3: Williams is out this week.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Well, you know what?
- 38:34Speaker 3: They've proven it over the last couple weeks with Tyson
- 38:36Speaker 3: Bajan and Case Keenum. This offense can still get things moving.
- 38:40Speaker 3: That was not the case today. The Packers defense was swarming.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Five turnovers forced. Very impressive. And then whenever Jordan Love
- 38:49Speaker 3: was in trouble, he heaved the ball downfield. He found
- 38:51Speaker 3: his guys, Christian Watson. and Matthew Golden. You've got to
- 38:55Speaker 3: love to see this as a Green Bay Packer fan,
- 38:57Speaker 3: especially after a rough, questionable start to the season. Maybe
- 39:01Speaker 3: this is a turning point in their season, a quarter
- 39:04Speaker 3: way through. They're about to get Michael Parsons back in
- 39:07Speaker 3: the next few weeks. Things are trending upwards for the
- 39:10Speaker 3: Green Bay Packers. Let's stay in the division. Let's talk
- 39:14Speaker 3: about this 5-0 Minnesota Vikings team that took care of
- 39:17Speaker 3: the New Orleans Saints and held this offense that has
- 39:20Speaker 3: had their way with other opponent's to just 13 points. Richard,
- 39:25Speaker 3: is it time that we start taking this team seriously?
- 39:28Speaker 3: Is it time that we include them Minnesota Vikings in
- 39:31Speaker 3: our top five power rank?
- 39:34Speaker 2: Yes, yes, it's time. It's time. I have seen enough, Minnesota.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I have seen enough.
- 39:39Speaker 1: And I know I am as hard on you guys
- 39:41Speaker 1: as anyone because of the Sam Darnold debacle. I told
- 39:44Speaker 1: you guys, you guys came at me. Don't, you know,
- 39:46Speaker 1: we won't revisit that. But Kyler Murray made some really
- 39:50Speaker 1: impressive passes today. The most impressive, in my opinion, was
- 39:54Speaker 1: the corner to end zone pass to Justin Jefferson. Three
- 39:57Speaker 1: guys around him had to be.
- 39:59Speaker 2: You had one spot to put it. He put it there.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson, the hometown Louisiana kid, makes the play in
- 40:05Speaker 1: New Orleans. They go into a tough environment and come
- 40:08Speaker 1: out with a win. Aaron Jones, 25 carries, 113 yards
- 40:11Speaker 1: and touchdown. The way he ran the safety over on
- 40:14Speaker 1: his way to the end zone, just menacing. This defense
- 40:17Speaker 1: continues to swarm. create turnovers, really make an impact on
- 40:22Speaker 1: each and every game. Minnesota had two turnovers in this game,
- 40:26Speaker 1: and not that they were perfect. I mean, they forced
- 40:30Speaker 1: three turnovers, but their offense had two turnovers in this game.
- 40:33Speaker 1: But Byron Murphy, two interceptions in the game. Andrew Van Gink,
- 40:39Speaker 1: the guys that you expect to have production from continue
- 40:42Speaker 1: to be productive. It's been incredible to watch this defense.
- 40:47Speaker 1: and the special teams. The special teams has also, whether
- 40:50Speaker 1: it's in the return game or they forced the fumble
- 40:53Speaker 1: that led to that Justin Jefferson touchdown that we talked about.
- 40:57Speaker 1: And I know we can talk about, do you really
- 41:01Speaker 1: trust this offense? Do you really trust this offense against
- 41:04Speaker 1: great teams? It's kind of that New England Patriots last
- 41:07Speaker 1: year team where you're like, who are they really playing?
- 41:10Speaker 1: But they're 5-0, and they're finding a way to win
- 41:13Speaker 1: each and every week.
- 41:14Speaker 2: This defense is real. It's legit.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Kyler Murray looked explosive. He was getting out of trouble.
- 41:19Speaker 1: He's making plays with his legs, with his arm. He
- 41:22Speaker 1: was improvising. I'm sure that Kevin O'Connell is feeling incredible
- 41:27Speaker 1: about both sides of the ball. He has a great,
- 41:30Speaker 1: great coordinator and Brian Flores on the other side who
- 41:33Speaker 1: keeps dialing it up. This defense is in rhythm. And
- 41:36Speaker 1: sometimes when Brian Flores gets hot in his mad scientist
- 41:40Speaker 1: mode and he gets to executing in the way he
- 41:42Speaker 1: has this season, you look out. I mean, that's what
- 41:46Speaker 1: happened when they had that 14-win season with Sam Darnold.
- 41:49Speaker 1: That defense was incredible. And all you got to do
- 41:52Speaker 1: on the offensive side is be productive. Don't turn the
- 41:54Speaker 1: ball over. Keep them in these games. Don't let, you know,
- 41:58Speaker 1: throw too many interceptions and throw the game away. But
- 42:01Speaker 1: I thought this was a great game. Jonas Sanker for
- 42:05Speaker 1: the Saints, that 87-yard touchdown return that really, really gave
- 42:09Speaker 1: them life in this game when I.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Thought it was over. Huge play.
- 42:13Speaker 1: It was forced by I want to say Warner and Emerson.
- 42:17Speaker 1: That was a big play while the Vikings were driving
- 42:20Speaker 1: in that game. But at the end of the day,
- 42:22Speaker 1: Kyler Murray was efficient. They ran the ball efficiently and
- 42:25Speaker 1: they played great defense. That's the formula for success in
- 42:28Speaker 1: this game. The Vikings continue to find a way to win. Yes,
- 42:31Speaker 1: they're entering my power rankings. I promise you, Minnesota fans,
- 42:34Speaker 1: if they won this week, they'd be in there. They
- 42:36Speaker 1: will be in there.
- 42:37Speaker 3: And they deserve to be in there. And they're one
- 42:39Speaker 3: of these unique teams because their defense is dominant. And
- 42:43Speaker 3: you just said, I mean, the Saints, the Sanker was
- 42:46Speaker 3: a defensive score. So, I mean, this team has given
- 42:48Speaker 3: up 22 points week one against the Packers, three points
- 42:51Speaker 3: against the vaunted Bears, 16 points against the Buccaneers, 10
- 42:55Speaker 3: against the Dolphins, and truly six points offensively against the Saints.
- 43:00Speaker 3: What makes it so different about this Minnesota Vikings teams?
- 43:05Speaker 3: I know they blitz a lot. They've got the highest
- 43:07Speaker 3: blitz percentage in the league, but what makes them truly dominant, Richard?
- 43:11Speaker 3: Because I think there's a very, very fair argument that
- 43:14Speaker 3: they are the class of the NFL defensively.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Well, it's the pressure that they put, they force and
- 43:21Speaker 1: dictate a lot of things for the offense. They dictate
- 43:24Speaker 1: where the protection is going to slide by the personnel.
- 43:27Speaker 2: They put out there. And they blitz a whole lot.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I want to say their blitz rate earlier in the
- 43:33Speaker 1: season was like 80, almost 80%. And I don't think
- 43:35Speaker 1: it's wavered too much off of that and not, there
- 43:38Speaker 1: aren't many teams that are, equipped to deal with that
- 43:40Speaker 1: on a play-in, play-out basis.
- 43:42Speaker 3: But why is it so difficult to adapt to as
- 43:44Speaker 3: an offense? Because you see quarterbacks being able to adapt
- 43:47Speaker 3: on RPO plays, watching for that blitz, swinging it to
- 43:50Speaker 3: the wide receiver on his quick slant. How are defenses
- 43:55Speaker 3: not able to adapt to Brian Flores' defense? We've seen
- 43:59Speaker 3: it year after year. He's always so dominant.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but you see it. Because it's personnel as well.
- 44:07Speaker 1: He has the personnel around him that are executing it
- 44:10Speaker 1: at a high level. They understand where the hot reads
- 44:12Speaker 1: are for the quarterback. So, you know, you're saying, hey,
- 44:15Speaker 1: the Blitz is coming here. He's going to be hot here. Yeah,
- 44:18Speaker 1: he's sending somebody over there that also knows he's hot
- 44:21Speaker 1: here and what their hot route is, whether it's a hitch,
- 44:24Speaker 1: a slant, an out, and they're defending it and making
- 44:27Speaker 1: you go to your next read. And when you're hot,
- 44:29Speaker 1: you don't have time to go to a next read,
- 44:30Speaker 1: so you have to eat the football. And he's not
- 44:33Speaker 1: just doing it on third down. Teams are used to saying, hey,
- 44:36Speaker 1: what are their third down pressures? What are their pressures?
- 44:38Speaker 1: It's first down. It's second down. It's run blitzes. It's
- 44:41Speaker 1: pass blitzes. You don't know who's blitzing. And then in
- 44:44Speaker 1: the back end, they play with a lot of confidence.
- 44:46Speaker 1: They play fast. They communicate well. They've played together for
- 44:49Speaker 1: a number of years. It's an experienced secondary who is
- 44:52Speaker 1: experienced in this system. And when you have all those
- 44:55Speaker 1: things together, guys like Dallas Turner, Andrew Van Ginkle, Blake Cashman,
- 45:02Speaker 1: it works out really, really, really well. He has the
- 45:04Speaker 1: perfect guys for his system, playing it at a high level.
- 45:08Speaker 1: And you got to respect that. I hope that Brian
- 45:10Speaker 1: Flores gets another head coaching opportunity. He's one of the
- 45:13Speaker 1: best coordinators in the National Football League and is showing
- 45:15Speaker 1: week in and week out.
- 45:16Speaker 3: He certainly deserves it. And to Minnesota and the Vikings
- 45:20Speaker 3: fan base, congratulations and welcome to the top five of
- 45:24Speaker 3: Richard Sherman's power ranks. And honorable mention also for mine
- 45:29Speaker 3: as well. This segment is sponsored by Sling TV, and
- 45:33Speaker 3: it's called Rule Breakers. Who was a cornerback in the
- 45:37Speaker 3: past who you would classify as a rule breaker?
- 45:43Speaker 1: Mitchell, it has to be the great prime time Deion Sanders,
- 45:48Speaker 1: the head coach for the University of Colorado, a guy
- 45:51Speaker 1: who's been breaking rules since he came out of the womb,
- 45:54Speaker 1: as he would say. a guy that played both sides
- 45:57Speaker 1: of the football and baseball during his NFL career. I
- 46:00Speaker 1: think he was the first guy to play in a
- 46:02Speaker 1: Super Bowl and a World Series game. He's a guy
- 46:05Speaker 1: that just continued to elevate and break the barriers of
- 46:10Speaker 1: what's possible for an athlete to be, and especially a
- 46:12Speaker 1: defensive player. I think he showed that a defensive player
- 46:15Speaker 1: could be the face of a league and could be
- 46:18Speaker 1: a primetime, exciting, charismatic face of a franchise. And he
- 46:23Speaker 1: made an incredible impact during his time. I think he
- 46:25Speaker 1: had 53 interceptions, some pump return, special teams touchdowns, some
- 46:33Speaker 1: receiving touchdowns. The guy did it all and continues to
- 46:36Speaker 1: make an impact on the game and continue to make
- 46:38Speaker 1: a positive impact on young men's lives.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Deion Sanders was definitely a rule breaker.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Check out Sling's Day Pass subscription and get instant access
- 46:47Speaker 3: to 24 hours of live TV starting at just $ 4. 99.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Drop who you think is the best rule breaker in
- 46:53Speaker 3: the comments and watch the game on Sling TV. It's
- 46:57Speaker 3: time for Fresh from the Oven Takes brought to you
- 47:00Speaker 3: by DiGiorno. Just like a fresh pizza out of the oven,
- 47:04Speaker 3: these takes are hot, fresh, and ready for Monday night.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Let's break down the matchup between the Rams and the Bills. Richard,
- 47:13Speaker 3: going into Monday night, this is an interesting game, a
- 47:16Speaker 3: matchup of two juggernauts teams. What do you have as
- 47:20Speaker 3: your hottest take coming into this game between Buffalo and
- 47:24Speaker 3: the LA Rams?
- 47:25Speaker 1: The Rams may score 40 in this game. That's my
- 47:28Speaker 1: hot take. I don't have a lot of respect for
- 47:33Speaker 1: this Buffalo Bills defense, and I don't think they've done
- 47:35Speaker 1: anything to earn it. Josh Allen, I need to figure
- 47:38Speaker 1: out what's going on with Josh Allen. Has been really
- 47:41Speaker 1: hesitant to use his legs the last couple games. Does
- 47:44Speaker 1: that continue? I think Matthew Stafford has a big game.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Maybe Josh Allen finds his legs again. He makes this
- 47:50Speaker 1: a game, but I got the Rams winning this one
- 47:55Speaker 1: for sure.
- 47:56Speaker 3: There's some big names on both teams and two MVPs,
- 48:00Speaker 3: Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford. Which player will be the
- 48:04Speaker 3: deciding factor in this game on Monday night?
- 48:09Speaker 1: Well, honestly, anything with the Buffalo Bills that has to
- 48:11Speaker 1: do with the Buffalo Bills, everything that decides whether they
- 48:14Speaker 1: win or lose starts with number 17 under center. And
- 48:17Speaker 1: it's going to continue to be that way. If they win,
- 48:20Speaker 1: it's because he had an incredible day. If they lose,
- 48:23Speaker 1: it's because he did not have the day that he desired.
- 48:26Speaker 1: There is no middle ground. Like, sure, they have James Cook,
- 48:30Speaker 1: the reigning, leading rusher in the National Football League. He's
- 48:33Speaker 1: an explosive player who can take over a game, no
- 48:35Speaker 1: question about that. I don't think the Rams are just
- 48:38Speaker 1: going to allow him to run for 250 yards or
- 48:40Speaker 1: anything like that. I think it's going to be up
- 48:42Speaker 1: to Josh Allen to find a way to beat this thing.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Richard, if I had to put you in two categories,
- 48:48Speaker 3: the first one would be ball knower. I think you've
- 48:51Speaker 3: exemplified that over the course of your career. The second
- 48:55Speaker 3: category would be pizza lover. What type of DiGiorno pizza
- 48:59Speaker 3: are you popping in the oven to eat and enjoy
- 49:01Speaker 3: while you're watching this game?
- 49:03Speaker 1: Mitchell, I keep it simple. I just need a pepperoni pizza.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Needed hot, extra cheese. You know, I might add a
- 49:09Speaker 1: little cheese myself, Mitchell, because I like a cheesy pizza.
- 49:13Speaker 2: But it's definitely going to be pepperoni, bud.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Well, those were the fresh from the oven hot takes
- 49:18Speaker 3: brought to you by our friends and partners at DiGiorno.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Make Monday night pizza night with a fresh from your
- 49:24Speaker 3: oven taste. It's not delivery. It's DiGiorno. And it's that
- 49:29Speaker 3: time on the Richard Sherman podcast. It's the fourth quarter
- 49:32Speaker 3: and we're going to operate quickly here in these quick takes. Richard,
- 49:36Speaker 3: let's go to... Tennessee, the Titans, your boy Robert Sala.
- 49:43Speaker 3: You know, a lot of high hopes, new coach, second-year quarterback.
- 49:46Speaker 3: They made a lot of aggressive moves in free agency,
- 49:49Speaker 3: and nothing seemed to work in Tennessee. The Texans finally
- 49:53Speaker 3: get a win in the win column here, and they
- 49:56Speaker 3: also made a big trade. Marvin Harrison Jr. goes to
- 50:00Speaker 3: the Texans from the Arizona Cardinals for a second-round pick
- 50:05Speaker 3: and a sixth-round pick. Before we get into the game,
- 50:09Speaker 3: I want to talk about Marvin Harrison Jr. Obviously, it
- 50:12Speaker 3: was a failed experiment in Arizona, but do you believe
- 50:15Speaker 3: he's got gas left in the tank to make a
- 50:17Speaker 3: difference here in Houston and revitalize his career?
- 50:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I do, and especially in a crowded receiving room
- 50:24Speaker 2: like this.
- 50:24Speaker 1: They got talent. They got guys. They got Nico Collins,
- 50:26Speaker 1: Jalen Newell, Kayshaun Booty. They got guys who can go.
- 50:31Speaker 1: They're not expecting a ton from him, and I think–
- 50:34Speaker 1: Nico Collins being a similar build is a guy he
- 50:36Speaker 1: can learn from a veteran who has played at a
- 50:38Speaker 1: high level for a long time, but has been a
- 50:40Speaker 1: little banged up. I think he can benefit from this.
- 50:42Speaker 1: And then you give him his college quarterback back and
- 50:44Speaker 1: CJ Stroud, a guy who spoke life into him, who
- 50:47Speaker 1: believes in him, who throws an accurate ball. I think
- 50:50Speaker 1: that putting them around people like that is going to be,
- 50:53Speaker 1: be really positive for him. A new, new, like kind
- 50:57Speaker 1: of stress-free environment for him. There aren't the weight of
- 51:00Speaker 1: expectations on him anymore. He's been traded away. You know,
- 51:04Speaker 1: whatever you feel about him is what it is at
- 51:06Speaker 1: this point. And I think this gives him a chance
- 51:09Speaker 1: to go somewhere new, reestablish himself and figure it out.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Let's talk about this game. You know, the Houston Texans
- 51:16Speaker 3: are 1-4 on the season. There's only been one team
- 51:18Speaker 3: in the history of the NFL to start 0-4 and
- 51:21Speaker 3: then make the playoffs. They square off against the Jaguars
- 51:23Speaker 3: next week. Is there any hope in Houston? Are you
- 51:26Speaker 3: at all optimistic about this team going forward?
- 51:32Speaker 1: Well, just because of what they did last year and
- 51:36Speaker 1: the way they closed the year, you always have to
- 51:37Speaker 1: kind of keep that in mind and keep a semblance
- 51:40Speaker 1: of hope. But, again, this Jacksonville Jaguars team is a
- 51:43Speaker 1: really talented team. If they find a way to beat them,
- 51:45Speaker 1: you know, they're going to have to find a way
- 51:47Speaker 1: to win some games that people aren't expecting them to
- 51:49Speaker 1: win now because of how they played.
- 51:50Speaker 2: But when you get a game.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Like this where Will Anderson has three sacks, Daniel Hunter
- 51:55Speaker 1: has a sack– Aziz Alshair has 11 tackles like you
- 52:02Speaker 1: start to see and remember what this defense can be
- 52:06Speaker 1: when they're on when they're rolling. And if if they
- 52:08Speaker 1: find some momentum and start to be disruptive as they
- 52:11Speaker 1: once were, then they're going to be tough to deal with.
- 52:13Speaker 2: And if C.J.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Stroud finds his rhythm and is as efficient, I don't
- 52:17Speaker 1: think he's played bad at all this season. I thought
- 52:19Speaker 1: he's played good football. The defense just haven't lived up
- 52:22Speaker 1: to their to their billing so far.
- 52:25Speaker 3: Let's go to New England. As the New England Patriots
- 52:29Speaker 3: take on the Las Vegas Raiders, and I'll say one thing.
- 52:33Speaker 3: It is a great thing we did not put the
- 52:35Speaker 3: Raiders in the top five of our power ranks because
- 52:38Speaker 3: that would have bit us. And you called that going
- 52:40Speaker 3: into the week four game. This Raiders team started 3-0
- 52:44Speaker 3: and now have gone 0-2 these last two games with
- 52:46Speaker 3: tough losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and now the
- 52:49Speaker 3: New England Patriots. Let's talk about the Patriots. This team
- 52:52Speaker 3: started off 1-2 in the season and has got two
- 52:56Speaker 3: big wins of recent on the road against the Buffalo
- 52:59Speaker 3: Bills and then at home destroying the Las Vegas Raiders 45-17.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Are the New England Patriots back in your eyes in
- 53:07Speaker 3: terms of being competitors in the AFC?
- 53:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Their defense has been playing pretty good all season long.
- 53:15Speaker 1: So This isn't anything new for them, but what changed
- 53:18Speaker 1: in this game was Drake May. Drake May played with
- 53:20Speaker 1: incredible confidence, poise, accuracy. He was 26-34, 374 yards, four touchdowns,
- 53:27Speaker 1: 150 passer rating against a defense that's not been world beaters,
- 53:30Speaker 1: but they've been solid. They've been solid to good throughout
- 53:33Speaker 1: this season, and they played Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas
- 53:35Speaker 1: City Chiefs pretty tight. So I wasn't expecting a New
- 53:39Speaker 1: England Patriots who have been struggling this season to really
- 53:42Speaker 1: get away from them like this, but 45-17.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Is really incredible.
- 53:47Speaker 1: That's an incredible game on both sides of the ball
- 53:49Speaker 1: for this Mike Frabel coached team, and maybe they're finding
- 53:53Speaker 1: their magic and regaining their form. And again, this AFC
- 53:57Speaker 1: East isn't Buffalo's right now. At this point, Buffalo still
- 54:01Speaker 1: has things to figure out, especially defensively, and the New
- 54:05Speaker 1: England Patriots already went to Buffalo and beat them. So
- 54:07Speaker 1: when that happens, you see this team is regaining their confidence.
- 54:11Speaker 1: The Raiders are You expected them to have a kind
- 54:15Speaker 1: of come back to, you know, come back to earth moment,
- 54:18Speaker 1: and this is probably that come back to earth moment.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins played a solid game, but, you know, struggled
- 54:23Speaker 1: for the most part. Brock Bowers continues to be a force.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Eight catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. Seems to
- 54:29Speaker 1: be consistent for him. The run game didn't really get going.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Aston Gentile ravaged 2.7 to carry this game. And, you know,
- 54:38Speaker 1: just not a lot of things going well for him.
- 54:40Speaker 1: We'll see what they do against the Buffalo Bills next week,
- 54:42Speaker 1: but I think if the Patriots keep playing like this,
- 54:46Speaker 1: obviously they got a great chance to win this division again.
- 54:50Speaker 3: And Fernando Mendoza made his debut as a Raider this week, too.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Six of eight for 48 yards. You know, you never know.
- 54:57Speaker 3: The Raiders square off against the Bills next week. Like
- 55:00Speaker 3: you say, if they lose that game, they go to
- 55:02Speaker 3: three and three. They go on a little losing streak.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Maybe we see more of Mendoza. But for now, you
- 55:07Speaker 3: got to stick with the faith in Kirk Cousins and
- 55:09Speaker 3: hoping that he can right this ship. Let's talk about
- 55:12Speaker 3: the Cleveland Browns a little bit more here, Richard. They
- 55:15Speaker 3: took on the New York Jets in New Jersey, right?
- 55:20Speaker 3: And the Jets come away with a win. But this
- 55:23Speaker 3: game was one of those games that you thought, hey,
- 55:26Speaker 3: if the Browns are serious about trying to compete for
- 55:28Speaker 3: the playoffs, they got to come away with a win
- 55:30Speaker 3: here against the Jets. And ultimately, they blew this game. Yes,
- 55:34Speaker 3: it was raining. Yes, it was wet. But it's inexcusable
- 55:38Speaker 3: to be up points in a very tight game, a
- 55:41Speaker 3: defensive battle, and a long snapper snaps the ball over
- 55:44Speaker 3: his punter's head, giving the Jets life and ultimately allowing
- 55:48Speaker 3: them to go on to score the go-ahead touchdown. How
- 55:54Speaker 3: big of a deal is a loss like this for
- 55:56Speaker 3: Cleveland's longevity this season? Because it seems like every game
- 56:00Speaker 3: is going to matter for a team like this.
- 56:03Speaker 2: No question about it.
- 56:04Speaker 1: It goes a long way because they've been finding a
- 56:07Speaker 1: way to win these games, and it looked like they
- 56:09Speaker 1: had found a way again because their defense, when you
- 56:12Speaker 1: give them a long field, they have been really making
- 56:14Speaker 1: it difficult for the Jets to score. And then you
- 56:18Speaker 1: have a mishap like that on special teams where there's
- 56:20Speaker 1: really nothing your defense can do. It's a short field.
- 56:23Speaker 1: They're going to find a way to get in the
- 56:24Speaker 1: end zone. Deshaun Watson didn't play great by any stretch
- 56:28Speaker 1: of the imagination, but they also didn't give him an
- 56:30Speaker 1: opportunity to play great. Sacked eight times in a game.
- 56:34Speaker 1: and they were still in position to win the game
- 56:36Speaker 1: at the end if the punter doesn't have that mishap
- 56:39Speaker 1: and the special teams doesn't have that mishap. So it's
- 56:42Speaker 1: a frustrating game. I'm sure Todd Monken is kicking himself
- 56:47Speaker 1: because that's one of those games that you would love
- 56:49Speaker 1: to have. You're looking at a Browns team that could
- 56:51Speaker 1: have been potentially 4-1. You're going to have some tough
- 56:54Speaker 1: stretches in November and December where you might lose some
- 56:58Speaker 1: games that you should have won, etc., etc., and you
- 57:01Speaker 1: would have wanted to have a little bit more of
- 57:02Speaker 1: a cushion than you do It's unfortunate, but you got
- 57:07Speaker 1: no time to cry or think about it. You got
- 57:10Speaker 1: the Baltimore Ravens coming into town. You got the Baltimore
- 57:14Speaker 1: Ravens next week, and you got to figure that out.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Isaiah Bond with a huge drop in this game. I
- 57:19Speaker 1: thought he played solid, but he had a drop that
- 57:22Speaker 1: could have made the difference. I think the Browns had
- 57:24Speaker 1: five or six drops in this game, and it's hard
- 57:27Speaker 1: to win like that. If the quarterback's throwing accurate passes
- 57:30Speaker 1: and receivers are dropping them, I know sometimes the conditions
- 57:33Speaker 1: get to them, but you can't have it. Gino Smith
- 57:37Speaker 1: and Garrett Wilson continue to have a great connection, seven
- 57:39Speaker 1: receptions for 104. Gino was 17 of 30 for 182, uh,
- 57:44Speaker 1: 85 passer rating. He was sacked four times. You expect this, this, uh,
- 57:49Speaker 1: Browns defense to get after people. They always do, but
- 57:54Speaker 1: I don't know. I, I, I don't know. I, I,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I'm disappointed by this. Um, by this game from the
- 58:00Speaker 1: Browns because, you know, we just had them against Pittsburgh,
- 58:03Speaker 1: and they gutted that game out. You know, you start
- 58:06Speaker 1: to root for a team like that, and it's unfortunate,
- 58:09Speaker 1: but great for the Jets. They're now 2-3, and Aaron
- 58:15Speaker 1: Glenn gives us another historic meme with his challenge flag,
- 58:20Speaker 1: and he was dangling.
- 58:21Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw it.
- 58:23Speaker 1: That was hilarious, but this is one of those games
- 58:27Speaker 1: that the Browns would wish they could have had back.
- 58:29Speaker 3: Let's go to Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Steelers survive the Indianapolis
- 58:33Speaker 3: Colts 34-22. Before this game, D.K. Metcalf is joking about
- 58:39Speaker 3: Sauce Gardner and asked about him, and he says, who?
- 58:42Speaker 3: And then D.K. Metcalf goes for three and 12 yards.
- 58:46Speaker 3: I don't know if that's a good way to show
- 58:47Speaker 3: up in a game, but Aaron Rodgers showed up in
- 58:50Speaker 3: this game with three passing touchdowns, 235 passing yards. Jalen Warren,
- 58:55Speaker 3: major contributor, 101 rushing yards, a touchdown, 50-yard gain. and
- 58:59Speaker 3: then an 80-yard reception for a touchdown. This Steelers team's
- 59:03Speaker 3: an interesting one. They're three and two right now. This
- 59:06Speaker 3: division is interesting. You've got the Baltimore Ravens dealing with injuries.
- 59:11Speaker 3: You've got the Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow kind of
- 59:14Speaker 3: up in the air as well. And then enter the
- 59:16Speaker 3: always steady Pittsburgh Steelers. Richard, is there a a glimmer
- 59:23Speaker 3: of hope for them to win the AFC North again
- 59:25Speaker 3: this year with the way they're playing, with an aging
- 59:28Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers still able to get it done?
- 59:32Speaker 2: No question about it.
- 59:33Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers is getting the ball out of his hands
- 59:35Speaker 1: really quickly, and he's benefiting from checkdowns. When you look
- 59:41Speaker 1: up and Jalen Warren is taking a check down 80
- 59:43Speaker 1: yards for a touchdown, Aaron Rodgers is sitting there like, yes,
- 59:47Speaker 1: one of the longest passes of.
- 59:48Speaker 2: His career ever.
- 59:49Speaker 1: He threw five yards. He threw five yards, and his
- 59:52Speaker 1: receiver did the rest. You got to love it if
- 59:54Speaker 1: you're Aaron Rodgers. He had three touchdowns in this game,
- 59:57Speaker 1: 125.1 passer rating, was only sacked once. Jalen Warren was
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: doing it through the air, on the ground. He was
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: finding Pat Friermuth in the end zone. For those short,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: they seem to have a great rapport and a great relationship.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Their defense was making enough plays. uh, throughout this game to, to,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: you know, you have to stop the run. And that's
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: what it starts with when you play the Indianapolis Colts
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: and they held Jonathan Taylor to 45 yards on 15 carries.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: That's good.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Three yards to carry, um, held them to a bunch
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: of field goals. And that's important in this game. Daniel
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Jones had a little bit of success, but, uh, you know,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: 24 or 44 for two 67, 72.8 passer rating, nothing special. Um,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: This game against the Bucs that the Steelers are playing
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: next week, I mean, you just never know. That's one
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: of those games that could go either way because both
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: of these teams have been up and down. You know,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: we just had the Buccaneers against the Dallas Cowboys, and
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: the rookie didn't play out of his mind, but the
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: defense brought a lot of pressure.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Todd Bowles got back to his ways. A lot of blitzes.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: A lot of blitzes forcing the quarterback to make quick
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: decisions and get the ball out of his hands, obviously.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers has played against Todd Bowles quite a few
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: times throughout his career, so I'm sure he will have
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: a few answers and some things, but that's one of
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: those games that could go either way. I expect the
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Pittsburgh defense to really get after Jalen Daniels, the rookie.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Really great story. We had him on the desk for
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: Thursday Night Football. Had a really good game the other day,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: but I know they're going to make life very difficult
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: for him. I would have Pittsburgh in that one. The
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Colts have the Titans. I think that'll be a get-right
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: game for them like it was for the Houston Texans.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: I expect the same thing. Let's talk about this Washington
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Commanders team. They seemingly had this game in hand, and
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: that ultimately blew it to Jameis Winston and the New
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: York Giants. This game ends in a tie, 27-27. There
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: was a number of mistakes down the stretch for this
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Commanders team. Jaden Daniels played his best. With one arm, essentially,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: he was running all over the field. He had over
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: 100 yards rushing, a couple touchdowns.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: He said at the end of the game, we got
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: to relay that as an offense and it starts with
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: everyone top down.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Ultimately, it's on me. What do you think about that response, Mitchell?
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I think Jalen Daniel needs to understand. I mean, Jaden
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Daniels needs to understand the point in the field that
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: he's on. What what what's going on in the game
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: and know that, hey, you don't have any timeouts. You
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: don't have time. You can't play around like this. Like.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: If you guys are going to sneak it and spike it,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: then everybody has to be on the same page. And
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: you have to talk about that in the huddle. And
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: I think that's on him. That's on the quarterback. And unfortunately,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: there's a lot of responsibility put on the quarterback. And
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: he's the quarterback of the team. When there's no timeouts,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: the coach has a tremendous amount of trust in the
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: quarterback that he is aware and he understands the situation
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: and he's going to get it done. And, you know,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: people may say that's unfair, but that's why they get
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: paid the big bucks. That's why they get all the
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: attention and acclaim. That's why it's the hardest position on
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: the field. because there are so many things you have
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: to be aware of at the same time. That's on
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: the quarterback. Sure, the head coaches can try to alert
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: him in the 15 or 16 seconds or whatever they get,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: 20 seconds, as they're giving him the play, but he
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: should have known.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Well, this New York Giants team now sits atop of
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: the division, and they stay there. I mean, Jameis Winston
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: came alive late in that fourth quarter. Malik Nabors, 11 receptions,
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: 121 yards, and ultimately the big story is Isaiah Likely,
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: who just looks like a major factor for them coming
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: over for the Ravens this offseason. This Giants team is
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: going to stay competitive. It's a tie. It is a tie,
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: but it felt and looked like a win at the
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: end of overtime there as you saw that team celebrating.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: So we've got to keep our eyes on this Giants
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: team as they trend forward because it certainly looks like
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: John Harbaugh is changing things there in New York. Let's
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: go to the Cincinnati Bengals. They're taking on the Miami Dolphins.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: No one thought a whole lot about this game coming in.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: The Bengals win 31-24. Joe Burrow, four touchdown passes, big game.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Jamar Chase with the touchdown grab and 77 yards receiving.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: What are your thoughts on the Cincinnati Bengals here, Richard?
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: I know we are high on them super early in
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: the season. Is there any reason to think highly of
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: them now after it went over the Miami Dolphins?
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Well, before we get away from this, this commander's game,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: that was one of the most crazy endings I've ever
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: seen to a game. But there's a funny stat going
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: into the game. The New York Giants were on to,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: 0-230 since 1970 when trailing by 14 or more points
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: in the final eight minutes of regulation. Mitchell, now they're 0-230-1.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Great job.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: Finding a way to make history. That's how you do it.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: John Harbaugh effect, man.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Come on. They're figuring it out. Do I trust this
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: Bengals defense anymore? No, I don't. I don't. They got
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: me in the first couple weeks, you know, but it
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: was a flash, Mitchell. It's longevity.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: You got to keep doing it over time and If
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: you're allowing the Miami Dolphins to score 24, you know,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: there was some, he had 74, Malik Willis had 74
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: on the ground. I mean, they rushed for quite a
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: few yards, and that's been the strength of the Cincinnati Bengals. Obviously,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Malik Willis isn't a world beater. They had two interceptions
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: on him. But this is a team without a ton
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: of talent, you know, in cap hell. They got a
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: bunch of young guys playing. You're not expecting a ton
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: from them, and they still found a way to score
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: 24 points and make this a much closer game. Joe Burrow,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: it did a great job, 23-32, 190. Jamar Chase made
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: some incredible catches, including that 45-yard touchdown catch. But, yeah,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I'm left not too impressed by this Cincinnati Bengals defense. Again,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: we'll see as the season progresses, as they get later
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: on down the line, what they do.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: Let's talk about your new favorite subject matter, and that's
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: the L.A. Chargers, and more specifically, Justin Herbert. Another lousy
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: game against the Denver Broncos. This Broncos defense is good,
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: but to only throw for 121 yards and one touchdown
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: with a 68.2 passer rating, questions are starting to rise
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: week after week with Justin Herbert in L.A. And then
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: you look at the Broncos. They were able to get
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: things done, winning 23-17, but the question still is, What's
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: going on with Bo Nix? They go on to add
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Jalen Waddle this offseason, two receptions, 19 yards. His other
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: running mate, Cortland Sutton, two receptions, 18 yards. I don't
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: know if I can say I'm truly impressed with Denver,
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: but let's start with Denver. What are your thoughts on
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: this Denver Broncos team as they pull off the win
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: against the Chargers?
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: I mean, at this point, you have to start to
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: question if Bo Nix has regressed. You're not seeing the
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: same confidence. You're not seeing the same accuracy, pushing the
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: ball down the field. And I don't know what that is.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Sean Payton retook the play-calling duties, but you didn't see
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: a ton different. You didn't see the explosive offense that
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: you thought you may see.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: They scored 23 points.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: They won the game against a Chargers team that hasn't
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: won a game all season. So you got to give
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: them credit for that. But at the end of the day,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: the Denver Broncos won. The Chargers lost. They're 0-5. What
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: are they going to do? You hear a lot of
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: the fans complain about Mike McDaniel. Do you want to
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: get rid of him? Do you want to do something else?
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: Is it his fault? Is it Herbert?
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Nobody thinks it's Herbert's fault. So we can't blame Justin
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Herbert because this offensive line has been atrocious and you
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: got to give him credit for that. They, they, I mean,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: there are some terrible clips online that you, you look
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: up and you're like, my goodness, you guys are NFL
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: football players and you couldn't figure out, figure this out.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: You couldn't do better than this. It's concerning.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: But, um, I think that there are some things Justin
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: Herbert could do better. I think there's a lot of
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: things this offensive line can do better. It's an offensive line. Obviously,
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: they lost Rashawn Slater again. That needs some help, especially
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: on the interior. But no help is coming. No help
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: is coming. I don't know what they're going to do.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: They got the Kansas City Chiefs next week. Things aren't
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: getting easier for them. I heard their fans early in
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: the year like, oh, man, it's not going to be
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: that bad, yada, yada, yada. At the end of the day,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: something's going to have to be done. you're either going
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: to have to fire the head coach or you're going
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: to have to trade the quarterback. And I know you
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: guys don't want to hear that, but this is year seven.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: This is year seven of it. And, you know, you
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: could say the defense played good enough in this game.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: There's been a couple games this season that the defense
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: has played well enough to put them in position to
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: win the game.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: And I thought the Buffalo game in Buffalo was another.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: One of those opportunities where their defense played well enough
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: to keep them in the game and they didn't get
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: it done. This week, the Denver Broncos defense, three takeaways,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: two forced fumbles and an interception. They sacked Herbert five times.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Their defense won them this game when Bo Nix struggled
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: and Bo Nix didn't get it done and he wasn't
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: effective and efficient enough. I thought Jadae Barron, six tackles
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: and five solo. They had a lot of guys making plays.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: My guy DJ Jones had a sack in the game.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Zach Allen, Benito had two sacks. Their defense is starting
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: to regain its form just in time. We got them
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: this Thursday. The Seattle Seahawks are coming into Mile High Stadium.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I look forward to that game. Another defensive battle. Seattle's
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: coming out of this bloodbath of a battle with the
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: San Francisco 49ers. Can they correct the things they need
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: to correct going forward? Can they find their run game?
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Can Sam Darnold be more efficient with the football? On
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: the flip side, can Bo Nix be better? Because if
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: he plays like this against the Seattle Seahawks, I don't
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: think they walk out of that game with a win.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: But we shall see. The Chargers.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I don't have a lot of hope for them going forward,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: but we will see. The Denver Broncos have to fix
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: their red zone issues. They were two for five in
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: the red zone. The turnovers helped them. But, yeah, the
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Denver Broncos offense went one for 12 on third down.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Another thing that they need to get fixed because this
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Seattle defense is great on third down, and they're coming
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: off a tough battle. I can't wait to be at
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: that game and talk about everything we're going to talk
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: about in it.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: We'll see you there, 7 p.m.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Eastern.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: 4 p.m. Pacific, TNF tonight. Good time.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: I would not want to be a Denver Bronco fan
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: going into that game on Thursday night. I just have
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: a bad feeling for them. I feel like Seattle is
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: going to come out with a vengeance. This would have
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: been the Super Bowl matchup, but for Bo Nix getting
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: hurt in that AFC title game, or leading into the
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: AFC title game, rather. But Richard... Back to L.A. before
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: we wrap up. This team, they're staring down the barrel
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: of an 0-8 start. I mean, just call it how
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: it is. I mean, they've got the Kansas City Chiefs
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: followed by the L.A. Rams followed by the Houston Texans.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: It doesn't get much easier for them. And like you said,
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: you're going to have to pick your poison. Are you
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: going to give up on your coach or are you
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: going to give up on your quarterback? Because there's way
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: too much talent in L.A. for them to be struggling
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: like this. It's noteworthy. going forward the rest of the season.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: You don't see it often for a team to start
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: 0-5 with that much talent on the roster. Richard, my friend,
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: it's always a great time sitting down with you every
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Sunday night, breaking down these games. Huge game this weekend.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: San Francisco 49er and the faithful in San Francisco. Congratulations
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: on a 5-0 start. If you guys are new to

- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Well, if you guys had any questions about me, I
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: don't always get it right. I'm not perfect, but I'm
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: a ball knower. I'm a ball knower. Lose the bias,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: lose the nonsense, ball knower. I call it like I
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: see it. The stats match the field play today. Sometimes
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: that happens, sometimes that doesn't. Sometimes the football looks a
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: lot different than the stats say. But today it matched.
