Tasmania Housing Affordability Hits Record Low as Hobart and Launceston Face Supply Pressure

Tasmania’s housing affordability has reached its lowest level on record, with a typical regional household needing 1.7 average incomes to service a mortgage. Hobart values fell 0.2% in August but remain 8.1% higher year-on-year. Launceston faces tight housing stock, while new flood-related planning controls affect more than 2,900 properties.
