- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite?
- 0:08Scary movie. Welcome to a scary movie.
- 0:14The podcast or talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the
- 0:17Absurd in all of our favorite. And least favorite scary movies,
- 0:21because we believe every horror movie rightfully, has its
- 0:23fanbase even if we don't always get it?
- 0:26My name is Travis. My name is Jesse.
- 0:28Hey, oh. Go ahead.
- 0:30I always do this part. Go ahead today, we're here for
- 0:34another live unedited and mostly undrawn, installment of to be or
- 0:40not to be drumroll. Thank you.
- 0:44My pick mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi pick.
- 0:49Is that a reference to something the office?
- 0:52Yeah. But are they referencing
- 0:53something in that? No, I think that's just Michael
- 0:55being Michael. Okay, whatever today we it's my
- 0:59pick. They so I chose a little movie,
- 1:03so funnily titled, blood junkie. So today we're talking that, but
- 1:10before we do that, do you have any announcements first?
- 1:16No. Okay.
- 1:17And no poles, because it's the to be or not to be.
- 1:19So that'll be on this coming weeks episode?
- 1:22Yes, Scream 3 episode. Okay.
- 1:25So in the meantime, blood junkie, so This movie came out,
- 1:31made 20th 2010. We watched it on to be obviously
- 1:38and it's available there for probably ever because this is
- 1:42one of those low budget movies that it gets dumped onto to be
- 1:46and that's where it lives. You know, you're experiencing
- 1:49true magic. When it opens up with the troma
- 1:51team. Use is a troma movie.
- 1:53That is true. It's not made by them, but they
- 1:56did the distribution. They also did a DVD release of
- 1:59red. Oh, cool.
- 2:00Yeah, so that is nice of this has a physical release but this
- 2:05is a movie by Drew Rose has written and directed.
- 2:10We have music by Evan Murphy Michael was Stan.
- 2:14See I don't know if I'm pronouncing this name right.
- 2:18But seemed pronouncing. It looks like it's Ludwick.
- 2:23Brecon Hausen quiz. I didn't even write it, right?
- 2:29So, you know, that, that it's got a lot of letters in there.
- 2:33That throw me off. So you you wrote it down
- 2:36incorrectly, I did. Yeah, intentionally, I tried to
- 2:39Bracken house and when I started off writing it like how I would
- 2:44say phonetically. Okay.
- 2:46And then, I just ended up. Can I pull a drink that also?
- 2:49Can I pull it up and see if I can figure it out?
- 2:51Yeah, go for it. Yeah, okay.
- 2:52It's also and also the fourth person credited for making music
- 2:56on the scene is Drew roses roses.
- 3:00Yeah. Special effects makeup.
- 3:02Jordan Brie Wong. Oh okay.
- 3:08You see it load week broke using?
- 3:11Yeah. See that's what I'm saying.
- 3:12Yeah, it's a confusing name. It's a hard name.
- 3:14Yeah. It's just not something that we
- 3:17encounter a lot be readily. So something that probably would
- 3:24have benefited from trying to look it up ahead of time.
- 3:26Yeah, okay so yeah that's the people that worked on it.
- 3:30The cast we have next Summer Place Craig Wilson Mike Johnson
- 3:35plays Teddy Bender sir Era Luther place quora.
- 3:39The girls don't get last names in this.
- 3:41Well, of course. Yeah.
- 3:43Although actually to be fair, it's not that the guys are just
- 3:48arbitrarily given last names they were listed like they were
- 3:51spoken aloud in the movies. Yeah, I think that's more their
- 3:56character than anything. We are.
- 3:58Riding Craig consistently calls themself Craig Wilson.
- 4:02Yeah, and I need to start doing that.
- 4:04So I sell when he walks into the house, he says, hi mrs.
- 4:07Bender. Yeah, Teddy's mom.
- 4:09So we do like canonically actually no.
- 4:12Those two characters last names for those.
- 4:14Yeah, yeah, I think I think the only person that actually says
- 4:17their last name over and over is Craig, and he's that type of
- 4:21guy, well, because he's also got the Wilson wagon.
- 4:23I also have the Wilson wagon. Oh God.
- 4:26That's why. I'm going to start calling our.
- 4:28I think I should get to call mine.
- 4:30The Wilson wagon since I drive as well as hmm.
- 4:34Okay, okay. You get the Wilson.
- 4:38I can let you have that title, Emily.
- 4:43Trace. So I can try.
- 4:46Did I can't read my own handwriting here?
- 4:48Oh, you have the Jesse Kurt. I did.
- 4:51I just see it today. Okay.
- 4:53Well let me assure you sir. This is triola.
- 5:03Okay I wrote it down terribly. So Emily Trail plays Rachel.
- 5:08Brady Cohen plays, Andy and Andrews.
- 5:11Want plays the creature. I did not know that there is any
- 5:16kind of a name for it. I just referred to him as gas
- 5:20mask. I kind of did too.
- 5:23I alternated between names, I called him.
- 5:25Gas, mask killer to kill her too.
- 5:29That was it. They did hint at a creature in
- 5:33one of the stories. But yeah, I would not call this
- 5:35a creature. Yeah, honestly, I mean, I would
- 5:38call it the blood junkie because I mean it is kind of a blood
- 5:42Junkie. key, whenever we get down to it, towards the end of
- 5:45the movie, Well, I mean it's I think it's meant to be vampire,
- 5:50is it? There's just the fact that he
- 5:55dusts when he's killed. I didn't know what that was
- 5:59about. I don't know if this movie knew
- 6:01it was about. This is see this movie.
- 6:03This is such a weird move as it was such like that final shot of
- 6:06him with the mask off. It looks like nose for.
- 6:09Yeah. Right.
- 6:10You're right. Be escorting.
- 6:11Us ROTC at the beginning of the movie.
- 6:13Tim, you're right. You know what?
- 6:14This is a vampire movie? Yeah, fucking tricked into a
- 6:16vampire. which like already, there's a lot of Societally.
- 6:24We have a there's a lot of derogatory views towards folks
- 6:29with substance abuse disorders. I don't love the term junkie
- 6:34because it just, you know. Yeah, it's derogatory.
- 6:38And I think there's something there and I'm I haven't
- 6:42meditated on this movie enough to really analyze it and also I
- 6:45don't think this isn't maybe it was meant to be analyzed.
- 6:47Anyway, no it's not. This isn't this is a movie by
- 6:50the way that is. Billed as a 80s, parity type.
- 6:54Yes. And you can really kind of see
- 6:56it, but it, it still plays it fairly straight.
- 7:00Yeah, I'll being ridiculous and over-the-top.
- 7:02And yeah, pretty much every aspect of its delivery.
- 7:06But I think there's something to be said about the fact that they
- 7:09keep referring to this creature as a junkie, assuming that's the
- 7:13situation that's happening. Assuming that all folks with
- 7:17substance abuse disorders are violent, but it's actually a
- 7:20vampire and that's how It survives is off of blood.
- 7:23So yeah, there's something there.
- 7:27If I, you know, if we took the time to analyze it a little bit
- 7:31further, oh, we're gonna, we're gonna analyze it.
- 7:33This is the whole point of this thing is now that I've come to
- 7:36the realization that that's a vampire.
- 7:38I'm gonna have some questions and thoughts about certain
- 7:41scenes, and hopefully, we'll get to the bottom of it.
- 7:45We're not gonna get to the bottom of anything.
- 7:46No, smoothies so far. We're gonna get to Billy the
- 7:48bottom, Billy the bottom, we're going to get there.
- 7:51Okay, very fast because he's pretty quick.
- 7:54All right. Well, like, Billy the but what
- 7:56was the wagon? Billy?
- 7:57The, but Billy the but something.
- 8:00Hold on, I wrote it down here so I can cooler.
- 8:04That would be really the but grinaldi renauldi.
- 8:06That's a, I wrote The High Road all that, narrow it down to.
- 8:11I have my notes hidden because we're gonna work on this part of
- 8:15the body right here between, you know, this, this part that's
- 8:18right here between the back of the thigh and the buttocks,
- 8:21that's the We're focusing on today.
- 8:24Okay. So I got a little bit of
- 8:28information on this bug. Ted.
- 8:30Yes, okay. So budget about 10, obviously,
- 8:32bug tip. I do actually have the budget,
- 8:35what? Yeah, I'm kind of shocked.
- 8:39So how about a hug to do you think this thing is?
- 8:45As I know it's bugged. I think the budget went as low
- 8:48as Hermes when he was the The Jamaican limbo Champion.
- 8:53Okay. All right.
- 8:56So this isn't the lowest bug Ted that we've had on the show but
- 9:00it's close to it. Okay.
- 9:02So I think the lowest that we've had on the show is probably
- 9:05thinks killing which was three thousand dollars if I remember
- 9:09correctly, okay? And we're talking like confirmed
- 9:11budget. Yes, because that was confirmed,
- 9:13three thousand dollars, this one right here, confirmed, seven,
- 9:16thousand, seven thousand dollars make this thing.
- 9:20Okay, Really no box office because this thing probably
- 9:24premiered on to be. You know what I mean?
- 9:26Like, it got dumped on there. Maybe it got some kind of
- 9:30release of trauma was involved. Maybe they just did the DVD and
- 9:34I getting it on the streaming services.
- 9:35I don't know. I think that it helped this
- 9:38movie, though. Like, if you have troma yatch to
- 9:42it, that will give it some Buzz. Always, yeah, I mean, it's
- 9:46probably on the trohman Now app. Hmm.
- 9:51I considered that either way this movie has a 5.3 on IMDb.
- 9:57Wow yeah, I didn't expect a score that high for this thing.
- 10:01I thought people would hate this, okay?
- 10:05Spoiler alert for this weeks episode on Scream 3, but that's
- 10:09not far off from that rating. That's not a surprising, not
- 10:12surprising. In the least, come on man.
- 10:14Scream 3, that's like the most hated.
- 10:17Well, I'm excited about that one.
- 10:20Yeah, I'm excited. Cited.
- 10:21I'm also excited because in the Wikipedia, it said used to be
- 10:26widely renowned as the weakest of the series of that opinion
- 10:30has been reappraised in recent years.
- 10:33Did they say that on the Wikipedia?
- 10:35It didn't, because the Wikipedia gonna be taking Digs at a
- 10:38franchise, right? It's supposed to be all factual.
- 10:41You're not supposed to be inserting opinion.
- 10:43It wasn't inserting opinion. It's like it was inserting
- 10:45opinion. No movies.
- 10:46Always the movies and Wikipedia always include like a reception
- 10:51Oh yeah, yeah, I know. Okay, okay, let's reception I
- 10:55guess. Okay, sure I mean it is it is
- 10:57but like still it's okay. There are it does discuss
- 11:01opinions on there but normally that's type of stuff.
- 11:03Doesn't, it's not like the opinion of the writer is just
- 11:06saying like fans and critics. Fair enough.
- 11:08Fair enough, historically considered this the weakest of
- 11:10the franchise that has been realized, in recent years, I
- 11:13guarantee you there's some people like secret shade, the
- 11:15screen 5. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking,
- 11:17too. I'm, I'm saying, I guarantee
- 11:19you, there are people that think the It is the weakest.
- 11:21You know what I mean? That's the internet.
- 11:23That's a horror movie, fans fickle Bunch toxic okay, act
- 11:28like them. I did pull three movies.
- 11:30Okay. Don't have a budget for all of
- 11:32them, but most of them. Okay.
- 11:34So and there's nothing. I expect a budget for two out of
- 11:37the three, then two out of three, okay?
- 11:41So I thought that 2010 was going to be Uncharted Territory for us
- 11:46with them releases. But we've actually talked about
- 11:48a lot of 2010 horror movies here recently.
- 11:50And talked about Tucker and Dale, which is one of them.
- 11:53We've talked about Paranormal Activity 2.
- 11:57There's some others in there but I can't remember.
- 12:00So I tried my best to pick ones that we haven't talked about
- 12:02yet. The first one I have here is
- 12:05Puppet Master axis of Evil. Okay, I've not gotten that far.
- 12:10The only Puppet Master movie that I've watched is the most
- 12:14recent one. Yeah, we watched on shutter
- 12:18which was the little one. Strike.
- 12:21Yeah, yeah, I did. I didn't know anything about the
- 12:25Puppet Master franchise going into.
- 12:27It is there a lot of Nazi correlation.
- 12:32Yeah, I think so. Actually it done and that's kind
- 12:37of a surprise to me, too, that it is.
- 12:39But I think one of the I mean at least the puppets are
- 12:42definitively the bad guys so you don't have to feel ya about it.
- 12:45That's true. And I think like some of them
- 12:47some of the prequels go into like World War 2 era, okay.
- 12:53But I'm not 100% sure puppet master fans.
- 12:56Please correct me because I as a series of that went to get into
- 13:00but I've just never Taking the dive into it.
- 13:03Yeah. That movie came out, July 27th,
- 13:062010 budgets, no gross. IMDb score 4.1.
- 13:12Okay. Yeah.
- 13:13I don't think the longer that Series has gone on the lower.
- 13:17The scores of God is about the one.
- 13:19We have a lot of you, see you guys don't lie, we buy the whole
- 13:22DVD pack and I feel like it probably is involved.
- 13:25It had a lot of Puppet Master and also the clown here.
- 13:31That this is a crossover. Yeah, demonic toys.
- 13:34Okay. Okay.
- 13:36They're both full moon, I think. But I think, I think what we got
- 13:40was like a pure Puppet Master series collection on DVD.
- 13:44Yeah. Okay, next up, I don't know if
- 13:48we've watched this. Another seems like one that we
- 13:50probably would have watched, but it's a South Korean movie called
- 13:53Death, Bell to bloody Camp, I love it.
- 13:56I think it's something to do with in school type thing
- 14:00because I I looked at it, I was like, I feel like Jesse and I've
- 14:04watched this at some point because I feel like this is
- 14:05definitely a movie with Jesse would have hit play on, ya know.
- 14:08We definitely watched it was expulsion.
- 14:12I think is what we watched. Yeah, I was going to say it was
- 14:14something known where this kid was expelled from the school.
- 14:19And his quote, unquote ghost was like attacking the students but
- 14:24it was actually his father who was a janitor there.
- 14:26Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:28Different. And I forget that wasn't Korean
- 14:30there. Yeah, I was gonna say, I don't
- 14:31know what country originated from I just I know that it
- 14:34wasn't in English. We had, yeah, I remember that I
- 14:37don't remember if it was so absurd jobs.
- 14:39But yeah, well, that's not this, okay.
- 14:41I mean, maybe we'll watch this one Betty of the way that came
- 14:45out a day after puppet master that came out on July, 28. 2007,
- 14:50what a weekend. I know that had a budget of 1
- 14:55Point 1. 1 billion South Korean Won, which is what their
- 15:00currency is called. Okay, I learned that today.
- 15:03All right, what is the exchange rate that translates to a
- 15:09hundred thousand dollars in American US Dollars?
- 15:11That's actually pretty decent. It's not bad and the worldwide
- 15:15gross. Six point nine billion, South
- 15:18Korean Won which is 5 million. U.s. dollars.
- 15:22I mean, they got their budget back in then some they did
- 15:24pretty well then And that has a four point nine on IMDb.
- 15:29Okay. I'm intrigued.
- 15:31Yeah, the funny thing is, you know, I guess I will say a funny
- 15:34theme that I have for this is all of these are rated lower
- 15:38than the movie. We're about to talk about today
- 15:41on, IMDb, they're all below. Five, IMDb scores.
- 15:45I'm guessing that was an intentional theme since we don't
- 15:48wake up the ratings and I am we've chosen the movies work.
- 15:52Yeah, it do. And I mean, what I was really
- 15:55kind of going for was Things that we haven't talked about and
- 15:59kind of cheapish. Yeah, just whatever movies.
- 16:02You know, less well-known. Yeah.
- 16:04This one I think is kind of well known.
- 16:07I think that we watched this a while back its Chain Letter,
- 16:11remember that? So if they're forwarding and
- 16:13good emails, we've definitely watch that.
- 16:15Yeah, okay, that we've definitely watch that and I've
- 16:18read like three different, young adult novels around that theme.
- 16:21So it was funny because I was looking through to be whenever I
- 16:23was trying to win on a movie for this and this movie came up and
- 16:28the trailer played for a minute and Brad Dourif, is in this
- 16:31movie. I know he is, that's the truth
- 16:34that they knew what they were doing with that trailer with us
- 16:36like put bread or if they're get them interested.
- 16:40All right. All right.
- 16:40We've Teens curse. Curse Trend Trend it Chucky
- 16:49Chucky. Yes, yes, marshmallow.
- 16:52Everybody like everybody? That's it.
- 16:54That was the pitch for the movie that I walk in there.
- 16:56And everybody just stood up and clapped like yeah, yeah, you had
- 17:01me at the Chucky, okay, you don't fuck with the Chuck.
- 17:03You don't. You don't everybody knows this.
- 17:06So this movie came out, October 1st 2010.
- 17:09Okay, I had a budget of Two million dollars.
- 17:12All right, worldwide, gross of 1 million.
- 17:14We are part of that. I don't think we saw it in
- 17:17theaters. We saw we rented that one.
- 17:19Yeah, we watched it on Netflix. Yeah.
- 17:20We gave some sort of Revenue like they those we gave that
- 17:25tribute to a metric that crew made sense off of us.
- 17:30Yeah, you're well then since you're welcome IMDb score 4.1 so
- 17:37it's tied with puppet master. I think we need to have Couple
- 17:41of these movies that were fairly certain we've seen before but
- 17:45can remember very few details about just like cover some of
- 17:50those. Yeah.
- 17:51Remember how we found the that the cursed camera movie on to be
- 17:56last weekend and we watched the whole trailer and we're like
- 18:00this looks familiar but also not familiar.
- 18:02Likelihood? Yeah we couldn't remember.
- 18:04Yeah, we couldn't remember if we'd just seen the trailer or
- 18:07the whole movie. I remember that.
- 18:09Yeah okay yeah there are a lot of Those okay.
- 18:13Um, so I got one tackling okay. A harmless trip finds.
- 18:18Harm's Way. I don't know if this would have
- 18:21bought a harmless trip for Rachel and Laura anyway.
- 18:24No I don't think truthfully. I feel like that, the title
- 18:29blood junkie is awesome. I love the title.
- 18:31I feel like it deserves an equally impressive tackle.
- 18:35I now think that this does, it doesn't do it any justice.
- 18:38Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:40I don't think that it would have it didn't really Just doesn't do
- 18:46it, you know. I mean it's a tagline I guess,
- 18:48you know, it's it's saying something but come on in.
- 18:52Do a little bit better. Yeah, Lloyd Kaufman.
- 18:54He could have pitched a better one if you're.
- 18:55Yeah and distributed, you know what I mean?
- 18:58Okay, so that's it. That's all I got for that stuff.
- 19:02All right. So, Jessie, do you want to go on
- 19:06and tell me what you liked about this movie?
- 19:08Absolutely, by the way. Um, Can we like started doing
- 19:12the format that we did last week with shaken not scared, where we
- 19:15both like, we both share. Good and we'll both share a
- 19:18bottle. Yeah, I kind of like that.
- 19:20Feel like it flowed better. Okay, just do that.
- 19:22So you start off with your good, okay, I really liked the
- 19:27chemistry between Craig and Teddy, okay?
- 19:29Those those are some Bubbies. I was even though they were
- 19:33reprehensible people, I like was fully on board watching them on
- 19:37screen there. Reprehensible in a way that
- 19:40still has some charm. It's like over the top, so you
- 19:42can tell that it's not, it's not somebody that feels like this
- 19:47person writing, it's kind of making fun of that type of
- 19:49character. Yes, absolutely.
- 19:51And that's the thing about it. That makes it like fun to watch
- 19:56because everybody knows these types of guys that think they're
- 20:00cooler than they are. Don't understand the concept of
- 20:05consent. Wear briefs.
- 20:12Okay. If you wear briefs you're not a
- 20:15bad person by default but I will judge you.
- 20:20Like it's I mean and it's your own life.
- 20:23I don't have to see your underwear so I don't really
- 20:24care. I'm just saying.
- 20:25Like if you choose to be in a situation where I'm seeing your
- 20:28underwear publicly and you're wearing briefs judge, are there
- 20:32you go. It's that's what it is.
- 20:33Jesse, I will judge you, it's fine.
- 20:35People judge people on the clothes, they were all the time.
- 20:37It's not I'll judgment. It's just, you know, you're
- 20:41wearing briefs and I think that's an interesting choice.
- 20:46Anything else also, I think it's just, it's, I like that the
- 20:52girls were not dependent on these loser boys.
- 20:59And in fact, often made fun of them to their face.
- 21:03Yeah, this is true and I think, I mean, I wouldn't really say
- 21:07that they Were able to take advantage of them, I think that
- 21:09they join out of their own self-interest.
- 21:12Hmm. And whenever your shit doesn't
- 21:14go the way that they were wanting to.
- 21:15They just kind of fuck off and like make your own fun.
- 21:19Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:20Which is cool. I really like that and I really
- 21:23like to the twist at the end that this was a vampire.
- 21:28I think that's fun. It's different.
- 21:31I'll say it's different. One thing that I liked about
- 21:35this movie is I thought that for a movie is If we made as it is,
- 21:39I thought it looked really good. They did a really good job like
- 21:43it feels authentically 80s. Yes, down to the Wardrobe, the
- 21:47hairstyles, the way it's shot. Oh my God.
- 21:50So much of their accessories and stuff that they have with them.
- 21:54Just yeah. Yeah, it feels very 80s.
- 21:56It's impressive. I think that the whole location
- 21:59is pretty cool too. That's definitely just an
- 22:02abandoned Factory near his house.
- 22:06Yeah, definitely found that in his Like we're going to film
- 22:09here. We've got we've got it, probably
- 22:11an unknown amount of time before somebody catches, he's probably
- 22:15one of those Urban explorers that goes and looks at all of
- 22:18these abandoned buildings. He may have found a syringe and
- 22:21he's like, what junkie got it. You came up with a movie.
- 22:28So yeah there's a soundtrack is also one of those things and
- 22:32also as simple as it is, I think that the Killer is actually
- 22:37pretty. Effective in this.
- 22:39Like the look and the way that the actor portrays it I think
- 22:43that it gets pretty nice. Like it's kind of creepy
- 22:47honestly. Yeah, I guess just a gas mask
- 22:49but like yeah attaching the canisters of blood to that was
- 22:53crazy. And yeah whooping it up.
- 22:55That was creepy. That yeah, that was nice.
- 22:57So when we finally supposed to anteater.
- 23:00Yeah. So yeah, whenever we finally got
- 23:03to the it was nice. Yeah.
- 23:04You were like wait, what is he doing?
- 23:07Yeah, it was It was crazy. So yeah.
- 23:10Okay. That's my good for this.
- 23:12Okay. Where do your bats?
- 23:14I think that the pacing is a little bit off, which it's a
- 23:19short movie hour and 12 minutes by the way.
- 23:23Yes. And I don't I don't mind like
- 23:28seeing all of the camping stuff because that's You know, that's
- 23:33the bread and butter of any of these movies, especially in the
- 23:3680s, 70s and 80s teens, going out into the woods, getting
- 23:40naked and drunk. I think you're right, but but it
- 23:45like, It just feels like it's whoa yeah so that's my thing to
- 23:51at this like this movie takes forever to get started and it's
- 23:55a super short movie like we're halfway through the movie and
- 23:58nothing happens. Yeah like they get at the Keck
- 24:01the campsite and like half an hour.
- 24:03I am totally fine with us stuff like if have the movie is that
- 24:08and getting everything set up, you know it's cool but I think
- 24:12if you're going to do that you have to make some of the why I
- 24:15like Seems like that building up entertaining, and not boring.
- 24:20And I feel like this movie has a lot of school.
- 24:23Boring stretches where nothing happens.
- 24:26I think it would be a lot less successful for me if I didn't
- 24:31think that Teddy and Craig were so engaging on screen together.
- 24:35See, that's the thing this movie, it needed them to it, it
- 24:40relied on their chemistry, to carry those scenes.
- 24:43And sometimes I think that it Does a good job.
- 24:47But I think there's a lot of times that the humor misses and
- 24:51they lean super heavily on some of those conversations and I
- 24:56don't think it hits and if it keeps going and like hitting on
- 25:01that same thing over and over for like five minutes.
- 25:03I kind of it was just me, okay? And I think that it needs
- 25:08something else to rely on, I think it just needs to be
- 25:12written in a more interesting way.
- 25:13If you're going to do this stuff, okay?
- 25:16All right. Ugly, the fact that Laura and
- 25:19Rachel seem like they're still in high school and Teddy and
- 25:22Craig are canonically graduated. Yeah, that's ugly.
- 25:27And also, you know, all the stuff that I was talking about
- 25:29earlier like the derogatory stance towards on housed, people
- 25:34and people with substance abuse disorders.
- 25:37You know, especially I think like assuming that those are the
- 25:40people you have to watch out for and they're likely to be violent
- 25:43towards you when we've got three new stories in the past.
- 25:46Week of kids. Just going to the wrong house or
- 25:49carbonyl. Yeah, being shot.
- 25:51That's a big thing happening. Yeah.
- 25:53Like I just I it doesn't make sense to take a whole
- 25:58demographic and decide that they're going to be more violent
- 26:00or unworthy than another. Yeah, I see what you're saying.
- 26:06I think my ugly is going to be the kid because this little kids
- 26:11a fucking psychopath. Yeah no he looks like a future
- 26:15serial killer. Spoiler alert.
- 26:17He kind of is but it on. Yeah.
- 26:20He's like killing wildlife and like insects and he's just Doing
- 26:24it for fun and it's just so fucking weird.
- 26:28This kid is fucking, it's just, it's weird how it plays out
- 26:33really. Yeah, it's ugly.
- 26:34I don't like watching this kid actually do this stuff because
- 26:38like it shows him I kill a frog. Which I thought I can't tell if
- 26:42it was real or not, I won't kind of real really.
- 26:45Hope it wasn't I do too. I'm going to choose to believe
- 26:48it wasn't. This is a bonus episode so we
- 26:50didn't do a ton of background research, there's probably not a
- 26:53lot for this. Anyways.
- 26:54Yeah but I mean yeah it's just I don't like it.
- 26:57I don't like looking at it. I don't like seeing that shit
- 26:58play out on screen. Just don't like it.
- 27:01Yeah, alright absurd. Probably like the Bobby Montage
- 27:11in Teddy's basement. I was thinking thank you.
- 27:14They're like celebrating after they get the dates and they just
- 27:18like, get master. They get beer.
- 27:20I'm pretty sure there's a moment where Reagan mess.
- 27:24Yeah. And I think there's a part where
- 27:26like Craig is just like humping like a teddy like on the bed to
- 27:31it's just I like that. It's like a huge exaggeration on
- 27:36This whole thing, and it's silly.
- 27:38It's ridiculous, it's fun, but like, you know, well, and
- 27:42they're 20 minutes late to pick up Lauren.
- 27:44And because, because they were having their Bobby party, that
- 27:49was funny. That was okay.
- 27:55I think that's good. I think the Boop and sniff is
- 27:57absurd, and I'm gonna incorporate that in my everyday
- 28:00life. If what he does is he goes up to
- 28:03the clerk and just like, Boop sizzles and Boop and then he
- 28:06makes him sniff. Where he pooped and goes right
- 28:08under this sniff. It's just fucking nice.
- 28:14Okay, okay, so what do you, what do you give this thing out too
- 28:17soon? Honestly, I'm gonna give it a
- 28:19seven. You gonna give this a second?
- 28:20Give it a seven. Okay, okay.
- 28:22I didn't hate it. Like there.
- 28:25Yeah, parts of it were too slow, but it's such a short movie
- 28:29that, like, the characters are likeable enough on screen.
- 28:33And I don't mean like they're likable as people, but like as
- 28:36characters Watch on screen. They're engaging enough.
- 28:40I don't know I liked it. I think I'm going to give mine
- 28:45as a 50k because I think half of it.
- 28:48It's nice with that right there and the Killer's I think the
- 28:51other half where it's slow just to tell of like two halves
- 28:56because like once it gets into the second half, it's sort of
- 28:58super fun movie. I wish that I had more of the
- 29:02killer, the creature throughout because like it's only like the
- 29:05creatures only Really around towards the end and like, at one
- 29:09point in the very opening. And I think this is one of those
- 29:12things that It suffers from the low budget because they don't
- 29:15have a ton of cast. Yeah.
- 29:18Or they could have padded this like trip to the woods.
- 29:22That's true. Yeah, you probably and if they'd
- 29:25had if they'd been able to bring more people into the woods, they
- 29:28could have started that part of it sooner because they don't
- 29:31have to like meet out the kills. Maybe because once they start
- 29:37killing, they started killing. I think that maybe you could
- 29:40have had that hitchhiker from the beginning, like Midway
- 29:43through the movie when they're on their way there.
- 29:46Well and I've got a lot of questions about that too, which
- 29:48we'll get to. Okay.
- 29:50I'm sure. Yeah, we'll get there but we
- 29:52have a starting average of 6. Okay.
- 29:54That's actually okay for this and that's higher than the IMDb
- 29:56score. So yeah.
- 29:58We hold true to our records. Yeah.
- 30:00All right, cool. Okay.
- 30:02All right, so let's, uh, hop right on into this one.
- 30:05I start off. America's Dairyland AKA
- 30:07Wisconsin 1989, we get this hitchhiker walking along Jesse
- 30:13related super hard to his wardrobe.
- 30:17Honestly his wardrobe Teddy's wardrobe, Craig's velvet
- 30:22sweatshirt Craig sweatshirt. By the way, I couldn't tell at
- 30:28first it just looks like he's really wet but he was like okay.
- 30:32Is this part of like the like the absurdity of this?
- 30:34Be the humor where Like this really ready like this guy, he's
- 30:38like, supposed to be the town like big shot and then he's just
- 30:43like like just pouring beer all over himself all the time,
- 30:46Matthew Mcconaughey in Dazed and Confused because he's like a
- 30:50burnout that's just hitting on high school.
- 30:52Yeah the whole time and thinks he's hot shit.
- 30:59Okay. So I'm glad I wasn't the only
- 31:00one that. Yeah yeah now and that's like
- 31:03coming from somebody who owns multiple All pieces of velvet
- 31:07clothing and recognizes what the textile looks like.
- 31:11If it's an unfortunate color that the way this was shot, it
- 31:15just looks wet until you get it in the right light stuff.
- 31:18Because the way that they did this, they added a lot of
- 31:21artificial grain and like, they made it look like it was like, a
- 31:25really dumb rough Prince of the movie that we're watching.
- 31:30Okay? So it's a hitchhiker.
- 31:32He's walking along is a car that drives by and they don't pick
- 31:35him up. Frustrated, I think you could
- 31:38have had that be the group going to the campsite.
- 31:43Yeah. And if you could have just moved
- 31:46this halfway into the movie that could have been them and he's
- 31:49like, ah, fuck you guys and he wanders off into the plant and
- 31:52then dies, I really wanted him to eat a banana.
- 31:55Like the one hitchhiker and Friday the 13th, I mean, that
- 31:59would have been nice to. Okay, so he goes, he doesn't get
- 32:03picked up and this looks like an abandoned Road.
- 32:05So eventually he's Like I'm just going to hike along these
- 32:07railroad tracks, hard relate again and he finds an abandoned
- 32:11building and decides to go inside.
- 32:13He smashes up a chair for some firewood and he's like, cooking
- 32:17his little can of beans and then he gets attacked at a it and
- 32:21that we pull out and this kid Andy is watching TV it like well
- 32:26I say watching TV, he's flipping through the channels but one of
- 32:28the channels is this hitchhiker. Yes.
- 32:31It's very confusing because it's not like only Within a movie
- 32:36because later, we see The Hitchhiker's skull in the
- 32:41building. Yeah.
- 32:42I mean it's the fucking creature from this movie.
- 32:46Yeah. Awesome.
- 32:47Yeah. Like I think that stylistically
- 32:49it's fine, but like, at the same time like it makes no sense.
- 32:52It gives me kind of All Hallows Eve Vibes, kind of.
- 32:56Yeah and then also I do think maybe there's like an odd again
- 33:00to Nosferatu. You know, Dracula has some mind
- 33:04control stuff. Maybe the Kids being maybe I
- 33:07don't know. Maybe he's being recruited by
- 33:10Dracula to be a vampire Dracula. Yeah.
- 33:16And yeah. So there is foreshadowing that
- 33:20this is a vampire movie to be clear.
- 33:22Nosferatu is on the TV as Francia.
- 33:24Yes. At like and I'm leaving?
- 33:26Yeah. I'm being very clear about.
- 33:28Yeah. Can't count or a lock.
- 33:32Try to be very clear because there are so many like classic
- 33:35vampire. He thinks this is the 1920s.
- 33:38No sir out to you. That's fine.
- 33:39Yes, exactly the yeah. All right cuts to a girl suiting
- 33:43up in a leotard. She's about to start a real
- 33:47business class. Yeah.
- 33:49Billy the but Guaraldi. I like this guy's name so it's
- 33:56like a It's weird. It's a weird little workout
- 33:59tape. I think it would have been
- 34:02really cool to see this be like a Tim and Eric asked type thing.
- 34:05Yeah, because I feel like that would fit the theme like The
- 34:08Vibes of this movie, but it's just like the guy on a obvious
- 34:11green screen just thrusting into the air, but that is kind of how
- 34:15some of these tapes were. Yeah, that's true.
- 34:17Yeah, I think they just leaned into how silly these were.
- 34:21It's not that much of an exaggeration.
- 34:23No. Does it the workout tape?
- 34:26It's called Tropical buns. Yeah, way that.
- 34:30That could be real. Oh yeah, I wouldn't be surprised
- 34:32if we looked up, tropical buns. If we didn't get, like some 80s
- 34:37aerobics tapes before we got born do.
- 34:40But I was going to say, both will for sure, show up, but I
- 34:44think aerobics will show up before pouring.
- 34:47All right, everybody look up, tropical buns, and tell us what
- 34:49your first search result. Okay, it cuts the teddy, he's
- 34:56asleep at his house. I think he like lives in the
- 34:58basement of his mom's house. Just absolutely, he does and
- 35:01he's woken up by Craig Wilson who has some beers over first
- 35:05thing in the morning and I he's like, be right back.
- 35:08When we will fucking mom, you just goes inside then were
- 35:12greeted to Teddy's mom and I do, I get the impression that there
- 35:16is a thing between Teddy's mom. And Craig here, I think she's
- 35:21either recently divorced Or store her husband travels a lot.
- 35:25It's a very like The Graduate mrs.
- 35:27Robinson, kind of like, oh, hi teddy.
- 35:30Yeah, or hi. Craig.
- 35:33That would be. Yeah.
- 35:34That's upsetting, yeah. The sweaty look was going hard
- 35:38here though, which is why I was thinking.
- 35:39Oh my God. Is he just like really sweaty
- 35:41like nervous to talk to his mom? Yeah.
- 35:43But he opens the jar of mayonnaise.
- 35:45And what's really funny is it's not like a jar like with the
- 35:48metal lid. It's like The plastic, the blue
- 35:52plastic lid. Yeah, he's like let me open that
- 35:55for you and then we get this really gross up close shot of
- 35:59hers just like plopping an ace up some white bread.
- 36:02Yeah, it's so fucking nasty. Meanwhile, back at Andy's house,
- 36:10his sister Laura walks in and asks, where their parents are.
- 36:13And he says, they've already left on their trip, there's a
- 36:16note on the counter for her, they left an emergency fund of
- 36:19$35, so chic The Rachel aerobics girl who says, oh yeah, we can
- 36:26get a lot of booze with that. So they go to the mini-mart and
- 36:30they flirt shamelessly with Wade, who I think it Wade, Wade,
- 36:35Never Gonna Get Laid. Wait in.
- 36:37I think he realizes that they're flirting with him just to get
- 36:41booze. But also, poor Wade has such low
- 36:45self-esteem. He was like, but maybe there's
- 36:48pants. I get the impression that this
- 36:53is like a small town in Wisconsin and like he's not got
- 36:57a lot of options but still at the same time this is high
- 37:00school or so yeah I don't know. I don't fucking know either.
- 37:05I feel like it now Russian that he was in the same graduation
- 37:07class is Teddy and Craig. Yeah.
- 37:11So they get their booze and they leave and this is where Cragin
- 37:17Teddy hit on them and invite them to go camping this weekend.
- 37:21Never go to a second location. I think it's funny whenever
- 37:26Craig goes over to talk to his like.
- 37:27Yeah, Craig, and I like who you Craig Town, Hero?
- 37:32Okay. I like the only way I can tell
- 37:37the two apart is one has a mullet and one's got like the
- 37:40little shaved Lions and the side in his sideburns.
- 37:44Yeah, I don't want to look sweaty all the time.
- 37:47Well, he eventually takes off the sweater near the end.
- 37:49Oh yeah, he does. See ya at the point where he
- 37:52actually would have become a sweaty.
- 37:54Yeah. So they're asking the girls if
- 37:58they want to go to the camp with them and they're like they do
- 38:03because they want They are also interested in them.
- 38:07Yeah. They have to convince or as a
- 38:09little brother Andy to tag along because and Tom would be so mad
- 38:13to not. Tell the parents.
- 38:16Yeah. So but they tell all the guys
- 38:18pick them up in an hour. Yeah.
- 38:20So they got all their stuff ready and they're waiting on a
- 38:22curb after and he's done burning in sex with his magnifying glass
- 38:28fucking a little psycho, man and he's not, he's not just burning
- 38:31ants with a magnifying glass, like he brought it out, I guess.
- 38:34Cream sandwiches to draw the ants over to him.
- 38:38Yeah, this kid. He's a psycho.
- 38:40Yeah seriously and the weird thing about it is he's doing all
- 38:44this fucked-up shit the entire movie and nobody calls me.
- 38:46Yeah that's intentional ha ha. It's intentional like part of
- 38:50the humor I go look at look how fucked up this kid is and nobody
- 38:53does anything. Yeah they bribe him with five
- 38:57dollars a and if he tells on her that he has to be her personal
- 39:03say this way for A month. Yep.
- 39:06Yeah. So the boys end up picking them
- 39:08up 20 minutes late because they have their party session.
- 39:13Yeah. And they honk at them and I
- 39:15cannot emphasize enough. The girls and Andy are sitting
- 39:19on the sidewalk at the curb, the car pulls up to the curb and
- 39:24they honk the horn a ton, by the way, we've crossed over the
- 39:29Boop. Sniff.
- 39:30Oh yes. But yeah, after they
- 39:33successfully, It's Lori and Rachel to travel to an
- 39:37undisclosed location with them. They go in and make fun of Wade
- 39:42for never getting a date, and which Craig walks over, Boop's
- 39:48make some sews and then he makes him stick his fingers.
- 39:51It's amazing. Weird and gross and funny.
- 39:54So, yeah. They pick them up in the Wilson
- 39:56wagon. Yeah.
- 39:57And the entire time Craig is given this shitty.
- 40:00Like it's like an airline pilot. Yeah, resonation the entire
- 40:04time. I'm yeah, I like the girls are
- 40:08immediately like, making fun of the boys.
- 40:11They're making fun of the car. They're making fun of the
- 40:13cassettes that are available. They're calling the boys.
- 40:16Loser. I liked, and it doesn't even
- 40:18bother them either. No, I could.
- 40:20Yeah there there who like their dialogue the two, boys the
- 40:25entire time. It's funny.
- 40:27I really think that they, I get the impression that they
- 40:29improved a lot of it. Like seeing I feel like what
- 40:32happened was because this All of the, the dialogue in this movie
- 40:36is dubbed over. So I feel like they, like, we're
- 40:40watching the footage and then like they probably dubbed over,
- 40:44like making jokes of what was going on at the time.
- 40:47Type things, a Mystery Science Theater themselves.
- 40:50Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 40:52And I think also like, that's one of the things too.
- 40:55That is kind of distracting about this movie is how obvious
- 40:58the ADR is, and a lot of points. Yeah.
- 41:00And his sound mixing isn't it's mostly is eating.
- 41:04I feel like it. It's intentional though.
- 41:05Yeah. See, that's the, that's the
- 41:07genius of going. Like intentionally low-budget
- 41:0980s movie, because, like, you can be like, I mean, we meant to
- 41:12do that. Yeah.
- 41:13It wasn't because we had seven thousand dollars.
- 41:17So they get to the Raven, building a random building know
- 41:23what this place, it's what it would have been like where you
- 41:27would get your permit for like a campsite rental or whatever and
- 41:32maybe get, you know, brochures and No, I think that there's a
- 41:35map of the trails there. Yeah but the guys are just
- 41:39acting like they need to go in there for a minute.
- 41:41Even though it's like shut down what they do is they like get it
- 41:44on. I will be right back if we're
- 41:45not back in 10 minutes, we're dead and then they get out and
- 41:49they run to the back of the building and Teddy's.
- 41:52Like, what are we doing is like ladies, love it.
- 41:54When you make them way is like, you sure is a, I don't know.
- 41:56It's worked before though. And then like they don't even
- 41:59know what they're doing. They're just walking around the
- 42:01building and they're just like doing a little Bubby time
- 42:04together. I mean while somebody is lurking
- 42:06in the woods watching I couldn't tell if it was somebody actually
- 42:09working around or if it was just Teddy because like right after
- 42:12that Teddy sneaks up on the girls in the car.
- 42:15Yeah. Then they drive to their actual
- 42:17campsite and they set up there's like a flipped over picnic
- 42:21table. The girls are setting up the
- 42:23tent. They have awkward, campfire
- 42:27conversations or Ted. He's trying to like, flirt with
- 42:32water and it's just really uncomfortable That whole scene
- 42:37right there is really uncomfortable, but it feels so
- 42:40real and how uncomfortable it is.
- 42:43Pretty sure this is Teddy's first time actually talking to a
- 42:45girl. Yeah, so that's where he's like,
- 42:49I found this brochure in the old building.
- 42:51It's got some old hiking trails. Maybe we can check some of them
- 42:54out. Yeah.
- 42:57Then they told ghost stories because they're by a campfire,
- 42:59and that's what you do. It's what you do in Teddy's,
- 43:01talking about his grandpa used to live near this area and he It
- 43:04always talk about this explosion.
- 43:07That happened at the old chemistry, chemical plant and
- 43:10thus, operator, like, mess something up.
- 43:12The pressure was all wrong, whatever he was instantly
- 43:16evaporated. And that's the working
- 43:18assumption, anyway, because they never found any trace of his
- 43:20body, right? He said, but what happened after
- 43:23that is that his grandpa was like journaling and keeping a
- 43:27lot of stuff like you know, keeping a lot of these bizarre
- 43:30notes which they didn't find till after his death.
- 43:32And you know, in his journal he's talking about All of these
- 43:36animals that were like being drained of their blood.
- 43:39It says like he caught glimpses of a man-beast.
- 43:42Yeah, the tormentum. Now we get another Montage with
- 43:48drinking smoking smoking. It isn't that marshmallow?
- 43:53Marshmallow is involved? Yes.
- 43:55Yeah. Laura tux Andy into bed and the
- 44:02tent Rachel. Well, and Teddy go off on their
- 44:06own and Laura like she tries to hit on Craig, but he like passes
- 44:10out against a tree. He's fucking Hammer.
- 44:12Yes, he can't even operate, right.
- 44:14He can't hang. Yeah.
- 44:17So Rachel and Teddy are. Yeah.
- 44:20Rachel and Teddy are exploring the abandoned office from.
- 44:24Before they find newspaper about the chemical plant accident, and
- 44:30then they go lay on the back of Craig's car, they make out.
- 44:34And they get to Third Base, maybe because like, after the
- 44:37fact, they're not entirely sure what the faces are because it
- 44:40was funny because like, yeah, Craig wakes up and fucks with
- 44:45them the next morning. Yeah.
- 44:48Yeah. He has some, he's like, well,
- 44:50how far do you make? Is a, I got the third base, as I
- 44:52don't know, what even is a, I don't know.
- 44:57So, the next morning and he wakes up, he pees in the fire,
- 45:04he's weird. He's wearing cowboy boots.
- 45:06That are too big for him. Yeah, he goes hiking in the
- 45:10woods stabs a frog. It's really sad.
- 45:15Laura gets up out of her tent. She's grossed out by passed out.
- 45:18Craig, r or agent. Andy.
- 45:22Go for a hike. Laura tries to tell Craig that
- 45:26they're leaving, but he's like me.
- 45:28Yeah, because yeah, so they find the band.
- 45:34And chemical plant or they assume that's what it is.
- 45:37And there is a sign that says like chemical testing sites, and
- 45:40that's something something. So they go in and they explore
- 45:43for a minute but Laura gets creeped out.
- 45:45So she takes Andy and she tries to get Rachel to come and
- 45:49Rachel's, like, I just want to explore for a little bit and
- 45:54Laura is like, are you sure you're gonna be able to find
- 45:55your way out? Like, we're really creeped out.
- 45:57We don't want to hang out here and Rachel's like, no, it's
- 45:59fine. Go ahead and go.
- 46:00Yeah, I'm sure. I'm kind of surprised that she
- 46:02would stay behind. Yes.
- 46:04I guess people, that's the thing with Urban exploring, the me
- 46:07like it looks creepy in general. I know that people have fun with
- 46:10it, but like, I could, I would be so uneasy the entire time.
- 46:14Absolutely. And unfortunately, Rachel does
- 46:22get attacked. Yeah, she gets God by the
- 46:25vampire. What was it called?
- 46:28The creature? The creature?
- 46:29Yeah. Okay, so what is back at the
- 46:33camp? She where Craig and Teddy asked?
- 46:38Her where Rachel is she tells them and she was like, we're
- 46:41going to go swimming. Here's the brochure.
- 46:44If you want to go try and find Rachel, she wouldn't come with
- 46:47us. Yeah, so the two of them decide
- 46:49to go. Then she she's smart.
- 46:52She was like, give me your keys. Craig He's like, why?
- 46:56And she's like because if you idiots don't make it back, I'm
- 46:59not going to be trapped here. That is smart, that is smart on
- 47:02her part. So they go off to go, find
- 47:05Rachel, she goes, but to go first, a perv on Laura changing
- 47:08into her swimsuit? Yeah, Craig climbs to the top of
- 47:11a tree Bullseye binoculars and just watches the entire time.
- 47:17Yeah. It's just more of like the
- 47:20Bobby's being grabbed Bobby's. I will say that there is a funny
- 47:24part that actually Got a laugh out of me how he he keeps
- 47:28getting yes, either Branch. I love is so Mike.
- 47:31Craig is leading the way in every time.
- 47:33They he like moves the branches. He like moves it far enough to
- 47:36like catapult back into the face of Teddy.
- 47:39So like teddy gets hit in the face by a branch of five
- 47:41separate times and like the branches get bigger every single
- 47:45time they didn't just the right amount of times.
- 47:48Yeah if I mean it was funny I really enjoy that so they make
- 47:53it to the plant. And they they had down in there
- 48:01but they find a bunch of needles which keeps them out.
- 48:05And they keep talking about like what if we fall?
- 48:07Nobody would ever find us. So they end up believing.
- 48:09They get pissed off about junkies to.
- 48:12Yeah, like Craig, especially has a hatred for.
- 48:15Yeah, this is really start, making a lot of, like really
- 48:17derogatory remarks. Yeah, me.
- 48:20And while Laura, and Andy go back to the campsite and she's
- 48:24going to start making some Some lunch for them and Andy has
- 48:28found a machete. And he's not at all concerned
- 48:30about where it came from and they're not at all concerned
- 48:32about letting this child have a machete.
- 48:34Yeah, as I just go over there and hit some, it's somewhat
- 48:37yeah, hit some trees and while he's doing that and gas mask
- 48:42comes up and grabs Laura. So Andy comes running hits him
- 48:46with a machete and they run for the car, but gas mask ends up
- 48:51breaking the car window and dragging Laura out.
- 48:54Here's the thing. The Twist at the end where it
- 48:58shows the like Andy was the one doing all this makes sense
- 49:01because at first, I was like, why is all the gas all the glass
- 49:03on the outside of the car. He broke the window in mmm.
- 49:09But if and he's in the car with her and he likes, you know,
- 49:12they're fighting and he knocks the window out that way.
- 49:14That makes more sense. There's a lot of moments like
- 49:16that shtetl. That makes sense after the fact.
- 49:20Yeah. That's what the screen.
- 49:22Okay. So untidy and Oh, and he ends up
- 49:27following gas mask. Who's got, like a wheelbarrow.
- 49:31Yeah. Laura tied up in there and like
- 49:34the creature and Teddy. And Greg accidentally kind of
- 49:39crossed paths going separate. Directions.
- 49:42Creature is going back to the building.
- 49:43They're going back to the campsite they make it back to
- 49:46the camp sites. And they find the Ruckus there,
- 49:49they find like the buses that window, they flipped that Bloody
- 49:53machete. Yeah.
- 49:55And so they grabbed their gun and they're like, all right,
- 49:58we're going to go save the girls and as they're hiking, they find
- 50:01Laura's glasses on the ground because Wars glasses my Laura
- 50:06like to see. And I do like this, because the
- 50:12next moment is Laura, waking up, and she's tied up to a table
- 50:15next to Rachel, and I do like that.
- 50:18They made her POV shot. Very fuzzy.
- 50:20Yeah, that was a nice touch. I give him credit for that.
- 50:25So yeah, the she's getting tied up.
- 50:27Meanwhile, like the whole time, you can see Andy has been
- 50:30trailing. Yes, following.
- 50:32I love how I mean, it's obvious, but like how nobody cares about
- 50:36Andy at this point. Like, the guys aren't concerned
- 50:38about finding any that are concerned about finding the
- 50:41girls and the creature isn't concerned about yeah at all
- 50:44either. I mean honestly there were a lot
- 50:46of hints that we should have gotten from them from the get.
- 50:49I mean, like I already said like worth of, why the fuck where did
- 50:52Andy go because like there's a party.
- 50:53Right here, where Andy goes to untie wara and then, like he
- 50:57partially unties her, and then it cuts to her later.
- 51:00Untying herself. Yeah.
- 51:01And then he's gone and he's not hell.
- 51:03Yeah. You were like, where the fuck is
- 51:05Andy? Yeah, it didn't make sense.
- 51:07It makes sense. Now.
- 51:09So yeah, Craig and teddy gets to the outside of the factory and
- 51:13from the favorite part, Greg has to pep-talking.
- 51:16So know, the best part about this is like, he's got the gun
- 51:19and then like before anything else he walks towards the
- 51:22entrance holds up the gun and just As a blind shot into the
- 51:24exception, but the gun I love. I was just shit.
- 51:30Yeah. But like the whole time, he's
- 51:31like, they fucked your shit up, you fuck like he's like,
- 51:35pep-talking himself because and and tatties.
- 51:39Like, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna wait by the exit in case
- 51:42somebody tries to run out and Craig is like, that's a smart
- 51:46idea. It's a real pussy move but it's
- 51:48a smart idea this right here though after that because that's
- 51:53That was all funny but it gets like legitimately tense here and
- 51:56I feel like it feels like a straight-up horror movie at this
- 51:59point. Yeah I appreciate it.
- 52:01We're seeing the creature like I thought.
- 52:05Rachel was fully exsanguinated at this point and she awaited
- 52:11fully drained of blood. Oh yes.
- 52:13Because they did hiccup like a syringe to them died while he's
- 52:18tied to. Yeah.
- 52:18Like when you donate blood just got one of those blood bags and
- 52:21it's like full to bursting. And what he's doing is he is
- 52:25drawing blood from that with a needle and he's emptying that
- 52:29needle into a canister and attaching the canister to the
- 52:31bottom part of his gas mask and yeah, it's disturbing as fuck.
- 52:35Yeah, the slurping is gross, the whole concept of it is gross.
- 52:39You don't know what's inside the mask so I don't know what is
- 52:43happening this whole time I just thought it was a do those
- 52:45addicted to blood? Yeah and then it's a vampire
- 52:49that's may be controlling and e or maybe it's just Andy.
- 52:52I don't know. There's The mystery surrounding
- 52:54the ending of this, it's strange.
- 52:56But um, it is tense watching Greg, like hold up the gun and
- 53:01like, walking through the abandoned building because the
- 53:04shots are pretty creepy. And there's like standard horror
- 53:08movie stuff like doors opening and then.
- 53:10Yeah, and he hears a door closed and he's like, I got you now and
- 53:14it's like this little closet, so he goes and he opens the closet.
- 53:17But all that's in, there is like a piece of machinery and there's
- 53:21no room for a man and He closes the door and horror movie Trope
- 53:26of all troves. Yeah, The Killers right behind
- 53:28the door but it doesn't stop it from being terrifying.
- 53:30Yeah, saws his throat open with a Shard of glass and the effects
- 53:35actually really well done here. Yeah, I'm pretty impressed.
- 53:38And then this is where Teddy decides that he's going to come
- 53:40in and check on Craig and he's going.
- 53:43Okay. It's yeah, he's yelling where's
- 53:46and Craig's? You get him.
- 53:47Crack crack crack, getting progressively more quiet and
- 53:53stuff. So it just if I was like a
- 53:55random hole in the wall and then he's like, okay Craig Stephanie
- 53:57there Greg Greg together and then that's when gas mask
- 54:01reaches his hand through and smashes Teddy's head again.
- 54:04Okay? So here's the thing that I have
- 54:06a question about if this is a vampire, why is he not
- 54:10interested in their blood? Does?
- 54:11He only drink the blood of women?
- 54:13It seems like it seems like it because you just straight-up
- 54:15kill us. Assume it is like a is like
- 54:17homophobic. He's like I can't drink man
- 54:19blood. Although he drinks The
- 54:21Hitchhiker's blood does he, we never seen Just really just see.
- 54:26So at this point, Laura has untied herself.
- 54:29She's trying to untie Rachel. And she like looks through a
- 54:34door at one point and finds a bunch of dead bodies including
- 54:37The Hitchhiker's. Yeah, body.
- 54:40Yeah, that's true. We don't have any confirmation
- 54:43if his Justice are not. Yeah.
- 54:47Andy has disappeared. He finds Craig's body and he
- 54:52picks up the gun. And so he like it's just Michael
- 54:57Myers. Like slow.
- 54:58Walking everywhere. Yeah.
- 54:59Except in cowboy boots that are so it was a little bit of yeah,
- 55:04packed with them. Yeah.
- 55:05And he's like very little boy, like the cowboy boots and his
- 55:08jeans are like all bunched up, but yeah, top of them and it's
- 55:11just like, it was definitely a parent to sign them up for this,
- 55:14not knowing that this was a horror movie.
- 55:16I, my theory is that it's the child of one of the Crew members
- 55:20know, there was a working title for this movie.
- 55:22I was there. Yeah.
- 55:23So I don't think that they could have been tricked during the
- 55:27casting and like filmed it under this for that part.
- 55:31Hold on its it was called Rocky Trails.
- 55:34Okay so maybe they like where the men with that I can by the
- 55:36way your kid just filmed blood junkie.
- 55:40Hmm. so, Rachel is trying to leave but gas mask comes in and
- 55:50he stabs her in the stomach. Yeah, she's gags.
- 55:55Yeah, he stabs Rachel in the stomach and then sticks his mask
- 55:58in the wound and does more of that slurping and that's
- 56:00disturbing this Yak directly connects it straight into her
- 56:03stomach. Yeah.
- 56:05And so this is where Laura tries to run.
- 56:08She finds some bricks and she throws one at gas mask and it
- 56:11knocks him down and she like beats him up with it, but he's
- 56:15Apparently indestructible, she takes off his mask.
- 56:17He's got zero damage. That's the thing, too.
- 56:20I don't understand why she had the impulse to take out.
- 56:22Like, what does it matter? What his identity as you're not
- 56:24going to know this dude, just like get the fuck out of there
- 56:27bashes hadn't run, get out. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:30But it's off the mask and the guy pounces and pounces on her
- 56:34and decides to just stir like ripping her, throw it out with
- 56:37his own mouth directly on. This is where Andy walks in with
- 56:40the gun and the creature looks up at him and he was Bald.
- 56:45And he's got like ears that stick out and very intense
- 56:48eyebrows. And it's like a very, very
- 56:51obvious reference to the Nosferatu shot that, you know
- 56:54what you have on the, on the TV at the beginning of the movie.
- 56:57Yeah. You made that comparison when we
- 56:59were watching. I didn't notice until you
- 57:00actually mentioned it though. So he shoots him and then he
- 57:06dusts like he actually like Poof's into dust.
- 57:10Yeah. It's like some kind of like
- 57:12black Misty. Shit.
- 57:15Like, I'm just goes out into the sky and then we cut to Channel 5
- 57:18news. They talk about eight year old
- 57:21Andrew Johnson, LED authorities to an abandoned Factory where
- 57:24for teenagers were slain, there was no evidence of the killer
- 57:28man in military, Garb Andy Remains the sole suspect and
- 57:33then we get a POV shot going through the hospital Halls,
- 57:37which you assume is the killer. Mmm.
- 57:39But then, we're seeing flashes back to everything that happened
- 57:42except it's very, it's all shots of.
- 57:44And People like permitting that kills murderers.
- 57:47Yeah and so we're its kind of ambiguous because it seemed like
- 57:52it was a whole vampire thing but now it's like maybe it was Andy.
- 57:55But yeah, you killed The Hitch-Hiker.
- 57:58The beginning is just fine. Control.
- 58:01Is he the vampire? Now?
- 58:03I don't know. It's a weird twist.
- 58:05I guess a little bit too confusing for its own good right
- 58:08here, I think. Yeah.
- 58:09And then that's, that's the end of the movie cuts, the credits,
- 58:12they're leaving, you wondering. Yeah.
- 58:14What the fuck just Happened. What the fuck?
- 58:16Did you just watch? Honestly, though.
- 58:18Thank you, Canada, seven. You know what this needed?
- 58:20What this needed. Because like the entire time I
- 58:23was watching this. I was thinking things and this
- 58:27could have just ended with you. Just experienced blood junkie.
- 58:31Mmm, I thought you're going to say this needed its own song.
- 58:36Yeah. That would have been nice to or
- 58:38just tailspin just borders. Mortals.
- 58:40Borrow this on. Yeah, you can't have too much
- 58:42tailspin in your life. This movie very much has the
- 58:45Energy of party, party party. All right, I fully believe that
- 58:49if Craig and Teddy had survived this movie, they would have gone
- 58:51on to party party party with those guys, it's possible that
- 58:54this is in the same universe, I believe it.
- 58:57I'm throwing that out there. That's my dream SQL cross over.
- 59:02Yes, it goes on to things man. Things junkies junkie things.
- 59:09Hmm. Well we got a-what tails, what
- 59:12things? Yeah.
- 59:14Okay. All right.
- 59:15Well that's our Dream sequel right there, the crossover
- 59:18between things. And this I did there has been
- 59:21one thing that we I feel like we've been forgetting with
- 59:23recent episodes. What would you change?
- 59:26Hmm. Well that's that's on you
- 59:28because you had the lower score know I'm actually I'm gonna I
- 59:32mean I it's still lower but I think I'm changing my score to a
- 59:356. OK.
- 59:37Anything that it's fine. It's a fun movie.
- 59:39It's got a lot of, it's got a lot of good moments, but I still
- 59:42think that I would change the Staff of the movie and I would,
- 59:47I would put that kill. I would move it more towards the
- 59:49Middle where you have a lot of nothing happening.
- 59:52And then during them going to the campsite, I think that that
- 59:57would help the pacing a lot. Yeah, that way you don't have
- 1:00:00nothing for 40 minutes of an hour and 12 minutes movie.
- 1:00:04Okay. Just needs better pacing.
- 1:00:07Yeah. Who did you relate to?
- 1:00:11I'm sorry. I was just six point five, six
- 1:00:13percent. Okay.
- 1:00:14That's it. Pretty damn good for this.
- 1:00:18That's it sir. Okay for us I can I can
- 1:00:22definitely see why people might not like this maybe but I like
- 1:00:24it. Um I'm gonna relate to to Craig
- 1:00:30because my last name is Wilson what?
- 1:00:33Um, yes. I very much enjoyed the boob
- 1:00:38Sniff and I think that I'm going to start doing that to our pets.
- 1:00:43Maybe you maybe. Rangers and if I get drunk
- 1:00:47enough at a bar on my go over to somebody and Boop's if them do
- 1:00:50it to the bartender, if I could do it.
- 1:00:54I don't know. I really did too.
- 1:00:56I mean he's a kind of a shitty guy but I've his funny moments I
- 1:01:00thought that it related to my humor.
- 1:01:03I think what about you who you really to I think I relate to
- 1:01:07Rachel because I too like to do workout videos in specific
- 1:01:13workout gear. Buns, tropical buns.
- 1:01:17I also I like the idea of urban exploration.
- 1:01:21I'm probably too terrified to actually do it but like I think
- 1:01:24if I was out in the middle of the woods I'd be a lot more
- 1:01:27inclined to do it. Yeah I could see that and now I
- 1:01:30feel like I would be too but then at the same time like by
- 1:01:34myself fuck that I would not do that.
- 1:01:37Like if I if you were there with me.
- 1:01:39Sure because I can, you know, build play off of you.
- 1:01:43Yeah, yeah. What Scouts favorites?
- 1:01:47Okay. I've been thinking about this
- 1:01:50Scouts favorite part of the movie.
- 1:01:52I think Scouts favorite part of the movie was when there was ice
- 1:01:57cream on the ground know so she could go eat it.
- 1:02:01Obviously Scouts favorite part of the movie was also Boop's net
- 1:02:06Food sniffs. She likes boobs.
- 1:02:07If she would like Boop sniff is he would like doing it to other
- 1:02:10people. She would not like it being done
- 1:02:12to her side note. There is this, there is this
- 1:02:17post. I don't know if it was Tumblr or
- 1:02:19something where this guy just like, randomly stuck his finger
- 1:02:23in his cat's mouth while I was yawning.
- 1:02:25And then the next time he on his cat stuck, his paws, it's got
- 1:02:31was laying next to us while this movie was on and she owned.
- 1:02:35And I just stuck my finger in her mouth because it was just
- 1:02:38like, I was like, I wonder what that's like, she did not
- 1:02:41appreciate it. She did not enjoy that moment at
- 1:02:43all. I'm waiting for the payback on
- 1:02:45that, but I can't wait, that'll be a maybe, maybe you'll get a
- 1:02:49boot sniff. Maybe I will get a boob sniff.
- 1:02:51But yeah, I do think I do think she enjoyed that.
- 1:02:54All right. All right, what?
- 1:02:56Next? The titular question.
- 1:03:00Okay. To be or not, to be.
- 1:03:02Yes, I would recommend this. All right.
- 1:03:04Yeah, I would, I would watch it again to a, to of two people who
- 1:03:09know who I think, enjoy that type of movie.
- 1:03:13I wouldn't suggest it to somebody wanting.
- 1:03:15Something serious to watch. I wouldn't suggest that to like
- 1:03:17a casual horror fan who's somebody.
- 1:03:19That's like, yeah. Once the more accessible this is
- 1:03:23not an excessive, somebody. If somebody asks like, what's a
- 1:03:28lesser-known horror movie, that's a Swagger that you could
- 1:03:31recommend me. That's fun.
- 1:03:33I would recommend this to the same people that I recommend
- 1:03:35things to honestly. Okay, I, yeah.
- 1:03:39And there are certain people that I like once I've talked to
- 1:03:42them a little bit. I mean, like, you know what,
- 1:03:43maybe I think you should Should watch at least once in your
- 1:03:46life. No.
- 1:03:47Okay. Nobody.
- 1:03:48I don't think this is things. I know.
- 1:03:52And that's the thing. I think people would actually
- 1:03:54enjoy this movie, if you recommended it to the right
- 1:03:56person. Yeah, that's some people enjoy
- 1:03:58things. So if you recommend it to right?
- 1:04:00Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like, I think this was one of
- 1:04:02those that, like, I'm not going to go about recommending it to
- 1:04:04everybody, but I do think that there are people, that would
- 1:04:06enjoy it. Sir, everything to be a day
- 1:04:07where we talk about things on here.
- 1:04:09Um, probably. Oh God.
- 1:04:10Okay. Jesus.
- 1:04:12How do you even talk about that? Movie is so It's nonsense.
- 1:04:16You get a cheese sandwich, a couple of beers and get ready to
- 1:04:19party party party. I guess that's pretty much all
- 1:04:22you. That's all you do new.
- 1:04:23Yeah that's okay. So I did find a review.
- 1:04:28Okay. And so it's funny there's like I
- 1:04:32could only find two written reviews on IMDb five weigh-ins
- 1:04:35and it was either a five star or a nine.
- 1:04:38So wow. The five, the five star rating
- 1:04:42is a short one that I don't really feel like Like is I don't
- 1:04:47know. I could read a real quick and we
- 1:04:49could talk about both of them. I want to I want to hear the
- 1:04:51nine serve you. That's what I was going to be my
- 1:04:53main review. Even though we both like this.
- 1:04:55I'm going to hear from somebody who really liked it.
- 1:04:58I I'm interested. Also this person review that on
- 1:05:01June 12th. 2011 called junkies, man, junkies all right to
- 1:05:05awesome guys. Take two awesome girls and a
- 1:05:08less awesome little brother on a camping trip.
- 1:05:10Once they're things go re as our friends are introduced to the A
- 1:05:15junkie right? As I have what I say Ari.
- 1:05:20Yeah. Yeah, right.
- 1:05:23Excuse me. This movie is made and that 80s
- 1:05:25style. Cheesy dialogue, hideous
- 1:05:28Fashions, red synth music and mullets matched with feeble,
- 1:05:31mustaches the look of the film. Also carries That 80s themed
- 1:05:34complete. With the grainy scratchy look
- 1:05:36that we can all remember and reproduces.
- 1:05:39This look better than any of the slew of grindhouse styled movies
- 1:05:42released in the last few years. I think I could agree with Yeah,
- 1:05:45absolutely. There is some genuinely funny
- 1:05:47moments in this movie. The dialogue has that
- 1:05:49purposefully badly written feel to it, which generated several
- 1:05:52laughs the various montages had me chuckling to in particular,
- 1:05:56when the two awesome dudes. Celebrate bagging a day with the
- 1:05:59girls Q, slow-motion dancing in the bedroom, including some
- 1:06:02truly wonderful. Mole is swinging.
- 1:06:05If why isn't the greatest, but in keeping with the style it
- 1:06:08perfectly suits the movie, there's a twist, ending that
- 1:06:11doesn't quite work when you think about it, but I enjoyed
- 1:06:14the rest of the movie. So, Much that didn't care if you
- 1:06:16go into watching this movie expecting Citizen Kane, you'll
- 1:06:20be disappointed, but hey, it's called blunt Chucky, so, that
- 1:06:23shouldn't happen. Anyways, if you're looking for a
- 1:06:26great pizza night movie, then I fully recommend blood junkie.
- 1:06:28I loved it. All right, I agree with
- 1:06:31everything this person said I was a solid right up at that
- 1:06:33perfectly encapsulates. My feelings towards it.
- 1:06:36Also wouldn't give it a 9 that I think six is appropriate, but if
- 1:06:40you enjoy it that much, I don't, I mean I can totally see how
- 1:06:43that would be a 9? Yeah.
- 1:06:45Star rating from somebody. Absolutely.
- 1:06:47Alright, okay, alright, so that's it for this, but for this
