- 0:15SPEAKER_00: What is going on, Sports Minds?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: It's your boy MJ coming at you with another episode of the Fantasy Fumble.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I hope you're all doing well because it's that time of the year.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: It's playoff time, baby.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Joe, how the hell are you doing today, brother?
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: Manny, I'm not sure if you're aware, but we are playing each other round one in the contenders league.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Very well.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: And it's it's I mean, you can't give too much uh to projections, but the game is projected to be very close.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: So yeah, definitely, man.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's uh it's a tough first matchup, you know.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Uh luckily my guys started firing and all cylinders, most of them, anyways.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Uh Puka, um, obviously, I have uh Josh Jacobs.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: He's gonna be RB1 for the next few weeks.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: I was looking at Jacobs specifically, just like the last four weeks.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my god.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's been going off, bro.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Two three touchdown games in the last four weeks.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: He's a he's a monster.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: But I mean, the rest of the team has to step up.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Luckily, I got some strong quarterback, you know, play to Patrick Mahomes finally picked his dead weight up.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So, you know, that should be helpful.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: But overall, man, I'm very excited.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I'm in playoffs two out of five leagues, you know.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: I got eliminated in three.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Um, obviously, we'll go over some of the details for that a little bit later.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I have a little bit of some plan on but um, excuse me, later for that.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Uh, but in the meantime, let's definitely get into that news and notes.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: But first, a word from our sponsor.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Hey there.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: My name is Manny James Gonzalez with PRB, and I'm a real estate agent here in Central Florida.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I'm a U.S.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Navy veteran, military relocation pro, and big supporter of 2A and veterans' rights.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: My specialty is VA transactions.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: I'm also experiencing all parts real estate.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: I've been living in Florida for over 20 years, and I can tell you we still believe in freedom down here.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: One of the greatest job markets, excellent economy, and no state income tax.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: When it comes to an agent, you want one that's gonna be honest, not afraid of a fight, and most importantly, willing to do the things that some agents aren't willing to do.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And what's that, Manny?
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Choose straight, Dan.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: If you ever consider buying in Central Florida, you need somebody you can trust, and I got your ticks.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I'm Manny James Gonzalez, find land for the free and home for the brave.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Welcome back, ballers.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: Now let's get into some news and notes.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: There's really not too much going on, but one thing I do want to mention is the Las Vegas Raiders running back, Sincere McCormick, has earned the team's starting running back role moving forward.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: If you picked him up off waivers, he might be a good flex play.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: He got 15 carries last week, and um, that's who they're gonna give The Rock to.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: So look to him as a possible flex play.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: And one more notable thing, because this is two weeks in a row that Josh Allen has made history, NFL history.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: He became the first NFL player with three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in a regular season game.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: And Manny, I know that you're happy about having Josh Jacobs, but I've got Josh Allen.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna see how that works out.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: They might even each other out.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we'll definitely see.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: But um, hey, either way, it's gonna be a slug fast to the end, fourth and fifth seed going at it.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: So, you know, who knows what's gonna happen then?
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: And there are many notable injuries that you got to keep your eye on, just running through real quickly.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: The people that did not practice at running back, you got Kenneth Walker, Bucky Irving, Alvin Kamara, Tony Pollard, and Brees Hall.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Keep an eye on all those guys because they are clearly your starters.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: At wide receiver, you've got Mike Evans and from the same team, Sterling Shepard, and also George Pickens, who missed last week.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: Keep an eye on him at tight end.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: I have all three of these guys Zach Ertz, Evan Ingram, and David Njoku.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Did not practice today.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: And then at quarterback, you got a handful, most of them are irrelevant, but Justin Herbert, Derek Carr, Drew Locke, and Aiden O'Connell.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: So make adjustments if you have any of those guys.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Again, the only one you probably do have is Justin Herbert, but keep an eye out.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: And um waiver wires, bone dry.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: So you're you know, this is playoffs time, you should have some depth.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: You can make some adjustments.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and my uh my note about waiver wires are uh right now is the time where you start playing like your specific matchups that you probably uh, for example, defenses, it's a good time to start playing, uh switch swapping around defenses because all some of the top rate defenses like Detroit, Seattle, and some of the other guys in the last few weeks actually have some tough matchups this week.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: So uh don't be afraid to you know flex them out, pick up someone else, because who knows, maybe that defense could give you an extra five or ten points, you know.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Great call leagues.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: And if you if you've got someone on your team that you know you're not gonna play, stash a defense.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Look look ahead a week or two.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Now let's get into our hot matchups.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: All right, you want me to lead?
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: It's hot.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Hot.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: It's time for that hot matchup of the week.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Now for my hot matchup, hat your hat matchup.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: My hat matchup for my hot matchup.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: I went with the no-brainer, uh, Bills match uh Bills versus the Detroit Lions.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: It's in uh it's gonna be in Detroit, and it's gonna be a really good game.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Definitely gonna be two juggernauts going at it, two potential Super Bowl train uh teams.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: This this is what America apparently wants as a Super Bowl, right?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: The two teams that have never won it before because one will be victorious.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Um, but either way, it's gonna be some fireworks.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Um, we saw the Bills get beat last week, and they you know, and and the crazy thing is they scored so much, right?
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: You were talking about Josh Allen.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Um, so I I don't expect it to be um uh I expect it to be much like last week, right?
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Everyone's gonna start clicking on all cylinders, it's gonna be firing away, and you know, at the end of the day, uh the best team's gonna come out on top, and that's that's typically gonna be the healthiest team.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: So let's see if any anybody stays healthy or gets injured tomorrow on the game.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I personally think that could be the best game of the year.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: Uh, as you mentioned, last week was was crazy.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Fireworks, that was one of the hot matchups we discussed.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: 86 total points.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: Can't expect that again, but my goodness.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: Um, it's gonna be a really, really fun game to watch.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: I'm seriously looking forward to that.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Both sides of the field, chalk full of talent.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Now, for my hot matchup, I went with the Rams and the 49ers.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: As we just mentioned, the Rams last week against the Bills scored 44 points and one.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: And I know I'm a broken record, but the Rams' offense has been so fun to watch with Puka and Cooper back on the field.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: Kyron had a few down weeks when they came back, but the last two weeks he was back to peak form.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: So, you know, Stafford, he's a spot start if you need him.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: Uh, but this is the playoffs, so you probably have better options.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: And the 49ers defense looked great last week, but has not been performing at the level we expected for most of the season.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: And I don't think they'll be able to contain the Rams.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: And the 49ers have had a very unfortunate year with injuries both on offense and defense.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: But the deep but the team has done pretty well picking up the pieces aside from uh the game against Buffalo.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: And uh Purdy, he's been great.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: Kittle's a machine.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Juwan Jennings has been a surprising and fantastic wide receiver to fill in for the injured Iuk and perpetually disappointing Debo Samuel.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: Obviously, there are some concerns at running back, and although third string running back Isaac Arendo was great last week, he may not play tomorrow.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: So that would be Patrick Taylor, right?
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: Patrick Taylor might be another flex play that you know I the chances are someone picked him up off waivers.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: But uh yeah, aside from the running backs, um, you know, that's that situation is very hard to navigate going into tomorrow night's game.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Or I'm sorry, it's Thursday, you're watching this tonight's game.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: But uh I think all around there will be enough offense to make that a high scoring game.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: So if you've got any of those guys I mentioned, I would put them in my starting lineup without hesitation.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: Uh definitely gonna be a fun game to watch.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Um, I got like I said, I got Puka on one team, so looking forward to another 150 yard day.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: So let's see how that goes.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Now, for my honorable mention, of course, we we have to have another game that we want to look at.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I actually really like the Bears versus Vikings matchup.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: I know it's a divisional game, but in the NFC North, they're not really known for their defense, right?
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Like against each other, they're known for like uh check check, you know, chess, right?
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: They're they're gonna come at each other swinging, big home runs.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Um, we saw the Vikings last week.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Sam Darnold threw for five touchdowns, three to uh uh Jordan Addison, uh, which you left on the bench.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: You still squashed me uh for the other league, for the Champions League.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: And then of course, Justin Jefferson finally uh got past that touchdown grout drought and ended up getting two touchdowns.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: So I expect them to be uh lighting it up on that side.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: And then the Bears obviously had a down week, so you know they typically don't stay too consistent with the down weeks, so I expect them to bring it up and step up to the level of competition.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: So that should actually be a pretty good game.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that first half was brutal for the Bears last week, and uh I think they do have a bounce back, and like you said, with these divisional matchups, sometimes, you know, it depends on the division.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: Sometimes they can just be a defensive battle, and other times they can light up the offense.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: And while those teams have been good on defense all year, I expect this to be a bounce back week for both and a lot of points on the scoreboard.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: Now, for my honorable mention, I have the Dolphins versus the Texans.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Although it's probably too late this season, the Dolphins seem to have found their stride over the last few weeks.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Tua, Tyreek, Waddle, John Ruh Smith, and Devon Achan have been pretty consistent.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: And even though the Texans defense has been solid, I feel like with all those guys finally in sync with each other and that offense starting to flow, um, that it's just going to be lights out.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: And Tyreek and Waddle are questionable, so keep an eye on them.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: But if everyone's healthy, that's gonna be a high-scoring game.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: And aside from Mixon, the Texans' offense has been up and down all season, but they are rested after the bye week, and they had an extra week to get right for this matchup.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: Miami has a good defense, but they're also inconsistent, and I think Mixon will run all over them.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: Nico Collins has been great the last couple weeks and should have a big game too.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: We all expected Tank Dell to put up big numbers after Diggs went to IR, uh, but he's only averaging about 10 points.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: But keep in mind, he was basically the only wide receiver that needed to be covered when Diggs and Nico were out.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: Nico's back to full health for a couple weeks now, and that should leave more opportunities open for Tank Dell.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: And CJ Stroud, we all know he's been disappointing too.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: I understand.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: But he didn't have his top two wide receivers for six weeks.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: He's only projected for 16 points this week, but he could easily put up 20 or more.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: They're eight and five and can circle and can secure a playoff spot with another win.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: So I expect them to come out playing hard, chucking the ball, and of course, keeping Mixon very, very busy.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, um, you definitely went over every detail.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I mean, there's not much else to say, those teams are just looking real good lately.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh, definitely gonna be a good game.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Um, but hopefully Tua stays healthy.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously, injuries aside, it's gonna be a good game.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Um, and I like Texas to win that one overall, so definitely should be uh some fireworks there.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Now let's get into our cold calls.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: Now for my cold call, I'm starting with the Chiefs versus the Browns.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: You never really know what to expect with the Browns.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: Sometimes Jameis Winston will come out just come out slinging and put up 40 points, and other times they struggle the entire game to put up a decent drive.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: And it's usually the latter.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Like, come on, let's get serious.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: The Chiefs have a good defense too.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: But we kind of do know what to expect with the Chiefs at this point, which is a boring, low-scoring game.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: The Chiefs D has looked great, but their offense is just boring.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: And uh, I see this being a low-scoring defensive battle, even with the teams this lopsided.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: I know that Chiefs are 12-1 and the Browns are three and ten, but this is just a recipe for I'm gonna I'm gonna guess something like 20 to 17, or or maybe even like uh 20 to 3.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: You know, it's just gonna be, I mean, if you look back through um the entire year, a lot of these games with the Chiefs have been very close.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: So they're low scoring, they're close, even though they are playing the Cleveland Browns.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: I expect this to be a little bit closer and uh and also expect it to be low scoring.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: And the Chiefs D has been great all season.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: So I expect them to step up to the plate and play.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: Like we said, sometimes you see offense, sometimes you see defense.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: I'm expecting this to be a game that's dictated by the Chiefs and basically just grinding them into the dirt.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, I definitely think the Chiefs are gonna score all the points in this one.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Um, hopefully they're through the air because obviously I'm starting Mahomes against you.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: I know you you want to put some bad juju in the air, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that the Chiefs are gonna be doing all the scoring there, and Mahomes gonna throw for four touchdowns.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: So let's get it.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: And that wouldn't surprise me either, but it could all happen in the first half, and then the second half, there's like three or four third, like three or four field goals, you know.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it I don't think the Browns' defense is good enough to stop anybody, so they haven't been all year.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: So I, you know, I could see that definitely being a Chiefs game, but will it be entertaining?
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Probably not.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Now for my cold matchup, uh, I went with the Jags uh Jags, Jets versus Jags.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Uh, both two teams that are struggling.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Jets may or may not be without Brees Hall, which hurts me because I have him in all my leagues.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: Um obviously they're gonna be uh passing the ball, Devontae Adams, Garrett Wilson.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: They both had a good week last week, and the Jags are definitely uh, you know, not known for their defense, but also not known for their offense either.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: So um I expect the Jets to sputter, spur, you know, and and and struggle, because that's just the New York Jets.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: And um the Jags on the other side, they don't even have they're starting Mac Jones as quarterback.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: You know, they they just look horrible.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: You know, Travis Etienne is down, I guess, too.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: And you know, Tank Bisbee actually has looked better all year, but it's just not a game I want anybody in.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be slow, probably a lot of field goals, and you know, at the end of the day, I'm probably gonna tune into a different game, probably watch some golf or something instead, but uh definitely not gonna be entertained by that game at all.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no doubt.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: I'm with you on all that.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: Now let's get into our shit calls of the week.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Smells like shit.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: I guess it's time for that shit call of the week here.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Now for my shit call, I'm I'm going ahead and saying uh going back to draft strategy here.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: So my shit call is you know, going into the playoffs now, I get to really see my results all almost into fruition.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Um, and at the end of the day, I just don't any team that I didn't really draft my normal way.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: I you know, I did a contrarian draft, I end up doing bad in.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: I know you were saying that you you are the opposite, you did good in all your contrarian leagues and and stuff like that.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: I just for me, man, I just completely dumpster fire, man.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Like between two to four wins, and I'm not afraid to admit that on the air, guys.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I'm an honest dude, you know, and I and I know my football, but unfortunately, sometimes when it comes to draft strategy, you might reach or you might you know pull somebody thinking he's gonna be good, and then at the end of the day, he's not, or he gets injured.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: So um, I would say that's my shit call.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Hindsight 2020.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: I know what I'm studying, I spent hours doing it.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: So uh going into next year, of course, make sure I don't second uh second guess myself.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean that makes sense.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: Stick to your guns.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: And the only thing I did in the and it's in the contenders league, I just you know went against the grain and drafted a quarterback early.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: That's why I got Josh Allen.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: I don't normally do that, I usually wait until much, much later to draft a quarterback, and obviously that's working out pretty well for me.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: But again, you can't predict injuries, and you know, in James's league, my first two picks were McCaffrey and um Pacheco.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: So that really hurt me all year, and I didn't make the playoffs in that league.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: So you win some, you lose some.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: Even when you do stick to your strategy, it doesn't always work out.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: That's why I do like to do at least one league where I kind of go against the grain, and rather than going running back heavy, I'll pick some stud wide receivers and a stud quarterback and just roll the dice.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: This year it worked out, usually it does not.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: So I feel you on that.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: Now for my shit call, I'm just going back to last week.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: I thought Kamani Vidal was gonna have a lot more action, but the fact of the matter is the Chargers run game is trash without J.K.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: Dobbins, and that's probably not gonna change this year, regardless of the matchup.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: Both running backs, Gus and uh Kamani Vidal, had more touches and they didn't do anything.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: Gus, if you did start Gus, he may have bailed you out with a touchdown, but he only had 36 yards and Vidal only had 34.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: So these guys they did get a little uptick in touches and they didn't do anything with him.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: So my shit call was you know, telling you to pick up Kamani and put him on your bench to see what happens.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: If you did, you saw that nothing happened.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: Drop him, move on.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: All right, ballers.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, it's that it's that time of the day.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: I know it's it's been uh a short episode, so we apologize for it.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: It's been obviously, you know, uh a lot going on here.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: We do appreciate your support.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: We appreciate everything you guys have uh you know tuned into every week, you know, and and give us your feedback.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: And uh we definitely appreciate all the all the support you folks have given us so far.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Um, Joe, do you have anything for these guys?
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: No, I absolutely appreciate all the support.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, every subscriber helps, and uh, you know, it's it when you get towards the end of the season, you really don't have as many player profiles to do.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: So I've just been trying to put together uh you know some cool clips from time to time.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: I did one on Josh Allen last week.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: Maybe I'll do another one on Josh Allen this week with that six touchdown game he had.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: But either way, we appreciate all the support.
