- 0:16Speaker 2: newsday on Wednesday. Can the Crack and respond now with
- 0:20Speaker 2: a super turnaround in Game four? Other six game road trip?

- 0:27Speaker 2: Mike Benton with you the Crack and take on the
- 0:30Speaker 2: Tampa Bay Lightning in the second and final matchup of
- 0:33Speaker 2: the regular season, and by the accounts from the previous matchup,
- 0:37Speaker 2: this could certainly pose a challenge the Cracking though going
- 0:41Speaker 2: head on into it for a four pm faceoff three
- 0:44Speaker 2: point thirty airtime. Once again, we've got you, by the way,
- 0:47Speaker 2: all across the global Credit Union Cracking Audio Network, and
- 0:50Speaker 2: we certainly hope that you can join us. We have
- 0:53Speaker 2: a quick Hitter episode for you Tuesday. Reaction from Matty
- 0:56Speaker 2: Beniers in Florida coming up in just a bit, plus
- 1:00Speaker 2: comments from Cracking head coach Lane Lamberts on a Wednesday
- 1:03Speaker 2: off day in between battles with Florida and Tampa Bay
- 1:07Speaker 2: coming up in just a bit as the Crack and
- 1:10Speaker 2: again still hanging around in this playoff mix, but still
- 1:13Speaker 2: have a bit of a substantial hill to climb five
- 1:16Speaker 2: points out of the cut line. With just twelve games
- 1:19Speaker 2: to play, they will need to stack wins and stack
- 1:22Speaker 2: them very very quickly. On Tuesday against Florida, a game
- 1:27Speaker 2: that appeared to be stuck in the mud for the
- 1:29Speaker 2: first couple of periods, then hit the gas in period
- 1:32Speaker 2: three the Crack and fell behind one nothing on Nolan
- 1:35Speaker 2: Foot's goal of two thirty two, and then fell behind
- 1:38Speaker 2: as deep as a three to nothing hole by the
- 1:41Speaker 2: seven to thirty seven mark period three on back to
- 1:44Speaker 2: back goals by E two Lusterenan and Carter ver Hagy,
- 1:48Speaker 2: with less than two minutes apart score between those two goals.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Ryker Evans though got the Kracking on the board at
- 1:54Speaker 2: a ten Noah Gregor though appeared to put the game
- 1:58Speaker 2: out of reach at twelve twenty one one of period three,
- 2:01Speaker 2: fresh off a call up from Ahl Charlotte's. It was
- 2:05Speaker 2: at that point where the Kraken had different ideas.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Brandon Montour back in Maddy Vaneers cuts in front water
- 2:12Speaker 3: move he scares oh Maddie b right side around Mabrovski.
- 2:20Speaker 3: The Kraken cut it back to.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Two on the nineteenth goal of the season for Maddy Vandeers.
- 2:27Speaker 5: It was a great feed by Brandon Montour who waited
- 2:30Speaker 5: for Manny Beaneers to move down the wall away from
- 2:32Speaker 5: the Panthers defense and put it back onto his tape,
- 2:34Speaker 5: and Maddy Vaneers, being a lieutenant shot coming down that
- 2:37Speaker 5: right side, was able to step across. Bbbroski tried to
- 2:41Speaker 5: pope check him and curl his wrists around and put
- 2:43Speaker 5: it behind him. Four two Penny Kulakov.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Stolen by every the captain on a breakaway. Every suits
- 2:50Speaker 4: scoreds shorted, every being hooked and held the entire way.
- 3:00Speaker 2: He pulls the.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Cracking two within a goal three thirty six to play
- 3:04Speaker 4: in the third. It's a four to three Panther lead.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Well, every picks this pock off read the cracking blue
- 3:10Speaker 5: line after doing a great job defensively to block a shot,
- 3:13Speaker 5: and gets himself a breakaway, and as you said, he's
- 3:15Speaker 5: getting hooked. In hell, there's a delayed penalty coming. But
- 3:18Speaker 5: he puts a great move on Bobrowski beats him glove
- 3:20Speaker 5: side under the bar. It's four three Panthers.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Now Folk Fish near side, stolen by McMahon. He's on
- 3:27Speaker 4: a breakaway.
- 3:27Speaker 3: McMahons.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Bobby McMahon ties the game for Seattle four four three
- 3:40Speaker 4: twenty two to play in regulation. Back to back breakaways,
- 3:45Speaker 4: back to back goals for the Seattle Cracking.
- 3:47Speaker 5: But Biby McMahon has speed and we just saw off
- 3:50Speaker 5: there on that breakaway. He created that breakaway with his
- 3:53Speaker 5: speed down the right side, he cuts in, puts it
- 3:56Speaker 5: under the bar this time blocker side. This game's tied
- 3:59Speaker 5: at fourth.
- 3:59Speaker 2: So you talk about back from the brink. The Kracken
- 4:02Speaker 2: forcing overtime on three goals in the span of two
- 4:05Speaker 2: minutes and twenty one seconds, scoring not one, not two,
- 4:10Speaker 2: not three, but four goals in that final period, harkening
- 4:14Speaker 2: back to a comeback they had to beat the Vancouver
- 4:16Speaker 2: Canucks on the road last season, and the Kraken searching
- 4:19Speaker 2: for their first multi goal comeback of a three goal
- 4:23Speaker 2: deficit in period three. All season long, they were so
- 4:27Speaker 2: close in sudden death overtime based on scoring chances, but
- 4:31Speaker 2: the ultimate game of chance brought on the shootouts, Florida
- 4:35Speaker 2: scoring in the second round, leaving it up to Jordan
- 4:38Speaker 2: Eberley in round number three against Sergei Bobrovski, the.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Captain over the line left side, back to the middle,
- 4:47Speaker 4: shoots off the pucker. Oh Bobrovski and the Kraken cannot
- 4:53Speaker 4: complete the comeback. They gave it a falliant effort here
- 4:59Speaker 4: in south out. They salvage a point on this first
- 5:05Speaker 4: half of their six game road trip, ultimately falling five to.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Four to shoot out.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Here's more from the guy who got that comeback started,
- 5:13Speaker 2: Maddy Benier's reaching one goal shy of twenty for the
- 5:17Speaker 2: third season in his NHL career.
- 5:19Speaker 6: We're trying to push, trying to get the momentum. Obviously
- 5:21Speaker 6: we got that gold Raker and that kind of you know,
- 5:24Speaker 6: sparked it up, and you know, didn't get the two points,
- 5:28Speaker 6: but there's a good push there at the end. Can
- 5:30Speaker 6: you can you take solace from this one point and
- 5:32Speaker 6: try to build some momentum now going forward.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Rather than coming away with nothing.
- 5:37Speaker 6: Hope, So hope, So absolutely, you know it's good. There's
- 5:41Speaker 6: no quit at any point in that game. So, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 6: we just gotta find a way to put ourselves in
- 5:47Speaker 6: better situations going into the third period. You know, we're
- 5:50Speaker 6: chasing a lot of games right now. It's not a
- 5:51Speaker 6: recipe for success, and you know, hopefully we can build
- 5:55Speaker 6: off that and rattle off a few wins here.
- 5:57Speaker 7: I think it was the fourth goal against that went
- 6:00Speaker 7: off of Shane's stick and he kind of stood behind
- 6:02Speaker 7: the net and looked up like, you know, devastated that
- 6:04Speaker 7: had happened. It looked like at least they feel pretty
- 6:07Speaker 7: good to kind of pick him up after after something
- 6:09Speaker 7: like that happens.
- 6:11Speaker 6: Yeah. Absolutely, I mean every everybody has, you know, things
- 6:16Speaker 6: like that that happened. You know, I can think of
- 6:19Speaker 6: five or six off the top of my head that
- 6:21Speaker 6: I remember pretty clearly on my mistakes. So you know,
- 6:24Speaker 6: everyone makes mistakes. It's a game of mistakes. He did
- 6:27Speaker 6: a good job of, you know, brushing it off and
- 6:29Speaker 6: going back out to the next shift and playing and
- 6:31Speaker 6: playing his game. And that's a really hard thing to do,
- 6:34Speaker 6: especially when you you know, you know, it goes off
- 6:36Speaker 6: a stick, goes off your stick and finds the back
- 6:38Speaker 6: of the night.
- 6:38Speaker 5: It sucks.
- 6:40Speaker 6: You know, he knows we got him, and you know
- 6:42Speaker 6: it's obviously we get we get the point and can
- 6:45Speaker 6: get back in that game.
- 6:47Speaker 8: On your goal.
- 6:48Speaker 7: At what point do you decide that you're going to
- 6:50Speaker 7: try to wrap it around him in the way that
- 6:52Speaker 7: you did, Like, do you have to make a split
- 6:54Speaker 7: second decision? Is that always your plan to try to
- 6:55Speaker 7: take it wide?
- 6:59Speaker 6: I think it was. I think I just saw that
- 7:01Speaker 6: d we're pretty We're pretty up, and I just had
- 7:04Speaker 6: some roomdom get across the net. Babarovski plays pretty aggressive,
- 7:09Speaker 6: you know earlier I think in the first catch made
- 7:11Speaker 6: a nice flight to me on coming down and he
- 7:13Speaker 6: was way out, So, you know, I kind of knew
- 7:16Speaker 6: if I could get to the week side of the ice,
- 7:18Speaker 6: I might be able to just tuck it in there.
- 7:21Speaker 2: So a valiant and near historic comeback falling short, And
- 7:24Speaker 2: that's only a footnote in a five four shootout loss
- 7:27Speaker 2: for the Kraken against Florida, salvaging a point but losing
- 7:31Speaker 2: ground by one after Nashville beats San Jose, leaving the
- 7:35Speaker 2: Kraken five points out of the playoffs entering Thursday. Roster
- 7:39Speaker 2: movement also going down the Coachella Valley shuttle in full
- 7:43Speaker 2: effect on Wednesday, the Kraken sending Yannie Newman back to
- 7:47Speaker 2: the Firebirds this season, putting up four goals and six
- 7:50Speaker 2: points in twenty six games in his spot, Oscar Fisker
- 7:54Speaker 2: Mouleguard recalled one assist in three NHL games. Fisker Moleguard
- 7:59Speaker 2: all so putting up ten goals and thirty two points
- 8:02Speaker 2: in forty six games with Coachella Valley with a Krake
- 8:06Speaker 2: and then transitioning into Tampa Bay Lane. Lambert, the Kraken
- 8:10Speaker 2: head coach, met with the media the day before the
- 8:13Speaker 2: final matchup against the Lightning.
- 8:14Speaker 8: I thought we did a lot of good things offensively.
- 8:17Speaker 8: I thought we did some things that we talked about,
- 8:21Speaker 8: you know, and have been talking about since the beginning
- 8:24Speaker 8: of the year. We played a lot faster. I thought
- 8:26Speaker 8: we made some plays. Thought we had some good opportunities
- 8:28Speaker 8: for sure, and I thought we were better in our
- 8:29Speaker 8: defensive zone. We spent less time in our defensive zone obviously,
- 8:33Speaker 8: which meant that we had a little more energy for offense.
- 8:36Speaker 8: So there was a lot of positives to that game.
- 8:39Speaker 8: And obviously the comeback was huge. The point was huge.
- 8:41Speaker 8: It's unfortunate we didn't get two, but to be down
- 8:44Speaker 8: like that, and you know, to mount a comeback like that,
- 8:48Speaker 8: you know, hopefully that catapults us here there. I kind
- 8:51Speaker 8: of always say there has to be some sort of
- 8:52Speaker 8: an event that happens. Maybe that was our event.
- 8:55Speaker 7: Well, and does that point kind of keep some optimism
- 8:59Speaker 7: that you guys can still it because I think if
- 9:00Speaker 7: you came up empty last night, you're looking at a
- 9:03Speaker 7: six point deficit more kind of bad feelings, right, Like,
- 9:06Speaker 7: how much does that keep you guys alive?
- 9:09Speaker 8: Yeah? It definitely you know, you're you're not wrong there.
- 9:14Speaker 8: There's some some optimism obviously, but there was some optimism
- 9:18Speaker 8: in our game from that standpoint, you know, So that
- 9:22Speaker 8: was good, and you know, we focus on our game
- 9:25Speaker 8: and how we're playing. Uh, you know, our problem right
- 9:29Speaker 8: now is defensively, we're leaky than have been, you know
- 9:34Speaker 8: since the break. We've got to clean that up. We're
- 9:36Speaker 8: trying to clean it up. And again I thought the
- 9:39Speaker 8: guys did a better job at that last night. But
- 9:41Speaker 8: at the same time, we still go up four goals. Now,
- 9:44Speaker 8: you know, I don't think that, you know, I thought
- 9:46Speaker 8: there was a couple of maybe that could have been
- 9:49Speaker 8: not goals, but certainly, you know, we have to be
- 9:53Speaker 8: better in front of our goaltender.
- 9:56Speaker 7: Oscar Fisker Molgard coming up beyond him and going back down.
- 9:59Speaker 7: What's the thinking on that one.
- 10:01Speaker 8: Well, we you know, we've been running with four penalty
- 10:03Speaker 8: killers here a little bit. Oscar's pretty smart player, obviously
- 10:07Speaker 8: penalty killer. He's playing well down there, you know, I
- 10:11Speaker 8: think as it stands right now, you know, the game
- 10:14Speaker 8: is and his game is a little more suited for
- 10:16Speaker 8: this time of the year for you know, from that standpoint.
- 10:19Speaker 8: So we'll see where we go.
- 10:21Speaker 7: I want to ask you more about Berkeley too. You
- 10:23Speaker 7: had him on the top line last night. You said
- 10:25Speaker 7: something along the lines of you wanting to cycle him
- 10:27Speaker 7: in a little bit more. What have you liked about
- 10:29Speaker 7: his game that led to putting him in that position
- 10:32Speaker 7: last night in such a critical game for you guys.
- 10:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I think you know, if you watch Berkeley play,
- 10:38Speaker 8: you know, obviously the production side of it, we love
- 10:42Speaker 8: to have more. But at the same time, he's making plays.
- 10:46Speaker 8: He made a couple of extremely elite plays last night,
- 10:51Speaker 8: and you know, for me, you know, from an offensive standpoint,
- 10:57Speaker 8: we need him certainly with mccannby and out, with Schwartz
- 11:00Speaker 8: being out. You know, I think you know, he's he's
- 11:05Speaker 8: got some elite vision, elite talent from you know, in
- 11:08Speaker 8: order to make some plays and so I thought he
- 11:10Speaker 8: played a very good game last night. I thought he
- 11:12Speaker 8: I thought he did a big job of creating.
- 11:14Speaker 7: And his linemate Maddie. I think he's he stood out
- 11:18Speaker 7: to me last night. I think he's shown some real
- 11:21Speaker 7: determination here over these last well, well I'm stretched, but
- 11:24Speaker 7: especially these last few games as the desperation is really
- 11:27Speaker 7: setting in for you guys, he sticks out to me
- 11:28Speaker 7: as a guy that's really putting everything into it. Do
- 11:31Speaker 7: you agree with that statement?
- 11:33Speaker 5: I do.
- 11:34Speaker 8: Actually, I think that he's his leadership qualities. You know,
- 11:41Speaker 8: they're coming through as well, they're coming through on the bench.
- 11:45Speaker 8: There's different things that he's doing that maybe you know,
- 11:48Speaker 8: people don't see from that standpoint, and you know, he's
- 11:52Speaker 8: bringing his he's bringing his a game, he's bringing his
- 11:54Speaker 8: desperation level. I thought he played a good game last night.
- 11:58Speaker 7: Separate topic, but news came out of about Jacob Winterton
- 12:01Speaker 7: and what happened there that went public today. Anything you
- 12:04Speaker 7: can share about just where you guys are thinking about
- 12:07Speaker 7: with the Winterton family.
- 12:08Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, obviously it's an extremely difficult time for
- 12:13Speaker 8: you know, for Ryan and his family, and you know,
- 12:16Speaker 8: we're obviously and always very very supportive, supportive, of him,
- 12:22Speaker 8: you know, can't imagine and certainly, uh, you know, we
- 12:25Speaker 8: just want we want everyone from their family to be
- 12:30Speaker 8: as good as it can possibly be. And certainly, uh
- 12:33Speaker 8: you know, in terms of his game when he comes back,
- 12:36Speaker 8: we we miss him and we can use him.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Yeah, many hearts are certainly heavy with Ryan Winterton and family,
- 12:42Speaker 2: as Winterton right now away from the team mourning the
- 12:45Speaker 2: death of his brother Jacob, certainly those surrounding the Kraken
- 12:49Speaker 2: and many across the Pacific Northwest and the regis of
- 12:53Speaker 2: Ontario and elsewhere. With Ryan Winterton and family right now
- 12:57Speaker 2: during this time, the Crack and facing Tampa Bay coming
- 13:00Speaker 2: up for their second and final matchup of the regular season,
- 13:04Speaker 2: they aim for a splits in the two game season series.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Tampa Bay beat them six to two back in Seattle
- 13:10Speaker 2: earlier this month, pushing the Kraken record to one seven
- 13:14Speaker 2: and one all time against Tampa Bay and the Krack,
- 13:17Speaker 2: and aiming for Juster's second win in the head to
- 13:19Speaker 2: head series that lone win previously accomplished in Tampa Bay
- 13:24Speaker 2: back in the thirtieth of October in the twenty twenty
- 13:27Speaker 2: three and twenty four season. The Lightning also going through
- 13:30Speaker 2: roster matters on their side. Captain Victor Headman also taking
- 13:34Speaker 2: a temporary leave of absence that due to personal reasons.
- 13:38Speaker 2: The Lightning reportedly not sharing any further details and asking
- 13:43Speaker 2: for Headman's privacy to be respected. He is in his
- 13:47Speaker 2: seventeenth NHL season, all with Tampa Bay, and a part
- 13:51Speaker 2: of that back to back Stanley Cup championships in twenty
- 13:54Speaker 2: twenty and twenty twenty one. Tampa Bay, though, is still
- 13:58Speaker 2: moving along at a swift pay, staying two points back
- 14:01Speaker 2: at Buffalo for first place in the Atlantic Division. They
- 14:04Speaker 2: are six to three to one in their previous ten games.
- 14:07Speaker 2: They come off a six to three victory over Minnesota,
- 14:10Speaker 2: boosting a dominant season right now third best in the
- 14:14Speaker 2: NHL at two point seven goals per game, second best
- 14:17Speaker 2: in the NHL at three point six goals per game,
- 14:20Speaker 2: and led by a favorite to win the Art Ross
- 14:23Speaker 2: and potentially the Hard Trophies, Nikita Kucharov, leading the NHL
- 14:27Speaker 2: with one hundred and twenty points, and in case you forgot,
- 14:31Speaker 2: he had a five point game at Climate Pledgerina earlier
- 14:34Speaker 2: this month, picking up his seventh career hat trick. Containing
- 14:38Speaker 2: him certainly we'll have its set of challenges the Kracking
- 14:42Speaker 2: though ready here to take him on this evening at
- 14:44Speaker 2: four pm Pacific time, officially on the West Coast three
- 14:48Speaker 2: thirty airtime, EVERA fits you, Al Koniski with you for
- 14:51Speaker 2: the call. I'll join you once again for your pregame show,
