Cold Case Solved After 40 Years
After nearly 40 years, a cold case from 1986 in Iowa has finally been solved thanks to modern DNA technology. A farmer found the remains of a man wearing brown suede shoes and a blue windbreaker, buried in hay bales. Initially thought to be a hitchhiker from Ohio, the case went cold until Deputy Cole Tweten pushed for DNA testing in 2026. The match revealed the man to be Clifton Womack, a 28-year-old Ohio resident who vanished in 1985. His family’s dental records and DNA helped confirm his identity.
