- 0:07Speaker 1: It's podcast. Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game
- 0:12Speaker 1: show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and today we're joined by Yannie Randall, Corinn Corey, Max,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Matt Brady, and Nate Mason. Nate, this is your first
- 0:25Speaker 1: time on Trivia. Tell folks what you do here at
- 0:27Speaker 1: Meat Eater.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I'm interning here for the summer, looking for full time employment,
- 0:32Speaker 3: doing a little finance, little production work, just a little
- 0:35Speaker 3: bit of everything.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Nate's been showering me with compliments about Trivia, saying it
- 0:39Speaker 1: was an honor to be invited. It's his dream to
- 0:42Speaker 1: play trivia. None of that meant anything, though. Those were
- 0:44Speaker 1: all empty words until he brought in some baked goods.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Though today they are Yes.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You think that's gonna help you in trivia?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Potentially healthy and helc two.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Uh.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I passed by bribing the smart kids with Panera bagels.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Okay, you made those Panera?
- 1:00Speaker 3: No I worked there, and you could take them home
- 1:02Speaker 3: for free at the other night.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Wait, so you don't make the bagels at Panera?
- 1:05Speaker 3: No, no, no, no.
- 1:06Speaker 4: You're saying we should be keeping an eye on you
- 1:09Speaker 4: for workplace theft.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I was told mostly. Yeah, Well that's uh,
- 1:17Speaker 1: that's a good way to turn this internship into a
- 1:20Speaker 1: full time gig. Nad do you have in the big goods?
- 1:24Speaker 1: I do not? Yeah, yeah, taking the treats away. Now,
- 1:29Speaker 1: this is a ten round quiz show with questions for
- 1:32Speaker 1: meat eaters four verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
- 1:36Speaker 1: and there is a prize. Meat eater will donate five
- 1:38Speaker 1: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winner's choosing
- 1:43Speaker 1: and for the start of the week. This week we're
- 1:44Speaker 1: looking at a breakdown of question prevalence by category. Although
- 1:48Speaker 1: I always say we have four main verticals, trivia ends
- 1:51Speaker 1: up having more like eight, with the additional ones being woodsmanship, wildlife, gear,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and natural history. Now, all of those eight categories, the
- 1:59Speaker 1: most popular one is conservation. Nineteen percent of all the
- 2:04Speaker 1: questions in Meat Eater Trivia History have been conservation based.
- 2:08Speaker 1: That's followed by fishing at eighteen percent, hunting at seventeen percent,
- 2:13Speaker 1: wildlife at fourteen percent, cooking at thirteen percent, gear at
- 2:19Speaker 1: eight percent, woodsmanship at six percent, and natural history at
- 2:23Speaker 1: five percent. So the four main verticals make up for
- 2:27Speaker 1: sixty eight percent of trivia, with the other four categories
- 2:30Speaker 1: making up thirty two percent of trivia. Now, Nate, if
- 2:33Speaker 1: I were gonna throw you a bone, what would that
- 2:35Speaker 1: bone be? Maybe? Like, which of those categories is your
- 2:37Speaker 1: strong suit?
- 2:39Speaker 3: Not fishing?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Not fishing? Okay, well that's our second most common category,
- 2:43Speaker 1: so fishing games it's not there. I'm gonna warn you
- 2:48Speaker 1: there's a good deal of fishing that's unfortunate. Today's episode
- 2:51Speaker 1: of trivia.
- 2:51Speaker 5: I'm ready to set the hook.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Good one. Max, always play the drop that was non Max.
- 2:57Speaker 6: It'd be fun when Max hosts an episode, does he
- 3:00Speaker 6: guest host? He could do like all Waterfowl. We can
- 3:04Speaker 6: invite Matt and Grady again, Get ten Bones basically.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Really clean up on.
- 3:09Speaker 2: We'd like to be present for that one.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I like.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Now here's our Infrequently Asked Question segment. If you have
- 3:17Speaker 1: a trivia related question for our crew, send it to
- 3:20Speaker 1: Trivia at the Medeater dot com with the subject line
- 3:23Speaker 1: I f a Q. Jake Emery wants to know. I
- 3:26Speaker 1: absolutely love trivia, but my brother, who also hunts and fishes,
- 3:30Speaker 1: hates it. He won't listen or play along, and when
- 3:32Speaker 1: I ask him why, he doesn't have a good answer.
- 3:35Speaker 1: He just says he hates it. Why do you think
- 3:37Speaker 1: that is? Well, Jake, I'm gonna break it to you.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I think your brother's dumb. Yeah yeah, I just think
- 3:43Speaker 1: he's dumb. If he doesn't like this and he likes
- 3:46Speaker 1: to hunt and fish, you probably already knew that about him.
- 3:48Speaker 1: But he's he's just a JABRONI Uh, that's all there
- 3:51Speaker 1: is to it. It can't be that he doesn't like me.
- 3:54Speaker 6: He doesn't like to hunt and fish or doesn't like
- 3:56Speaker 6: to play trivia.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Jake's brother likes to hunt and fish, but he does
- 4:00Speaker 1: not like trivia. In fact, his strong words are for it,
- 4:03Speaker 1: that he hates it.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Let's get on here.
- 4:05Speaker 7: Perhaps he doesn't like to be challenged.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Hmmm, yeah, not a good guy, Max, Max said it.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Good ud find a new brother. Okay. Ye. Perhaps he's
- 4:16Speaker 1: just not a quick thinker, not a quick thinker.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Maybe he just hates the sound of our voices.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I could can't be that. Now we have some
- 4:25Speaker 1: housekeeping to get to. In a previous game of trivia,
- 4:28Speaker 1: we had a question about the Spanish word that means
- 4:31Speaker 1: red that's commonly used in Mexican cuisine. The correct answer
- 4:35Speaker 1: was rojo or roja, but a few listeners wrote in
- 4:39Speaker 1: asking if colorado would also be an acceptable answer. Well,
- 4:42Speaker 1: colorado and Spanish means colored red, and the word is
- 4:46Speaker 1: often used as an adjective in Mexican cuisine. The taco
- 4:50Speaker 1: bust down the street from US actually has Colorado anchiladas
- 4:53Speaker 1: and Colorado burritos on their menu. So if you said
- 4:56Speaker 1: Colorado for that question, that would absolutely be an acceptable answer.
- 5:01Speaker 1: So you could say roja, rojo or Colorado. Now, the
- 5:05Speaker 1: Shelby index for today's game is a five, so I'm
- 5:07Speaker 1: putting us on perfect score alert and with that we're
- 5:11Speaker 1: onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, No
- 5:14Speaker 1: point at me. I need to know what I stand
- 5:19Speaker 1: to win. Actually, just tiding.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Demon suckers.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Joanni was saying there's pressure on him and Randall and
- 5:36Speaker 1: this just random. Okay, I thought you were. You were
- 5:39Speaker 1: motioning that it was the two of you.
- 5:41Speaker 6: No, he squirmed when you said Shlby index was five.
- 5:45Speaker 6: You like that?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Randall Er, you don't like that? Would you have?
- 5:48Speaker 4: Like?
- 5:48Speaker 1: Okay? You like a five? Shall be index?
- 5:51Speaker 4: I love it?
- 5:51Speaker 1: Okay, here's question one. The topic is hunting, and this
- 5:55Speaker 1: will be multiple choice. Which of these states did not
- 5:59Speaker 1: have a black bear hunting season in twenty twenty three.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Is it Missouri, Florida, Washington, or New Jersey.
- 6:10Speaker 6: Oh, that's not the right one.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Which of these states did not have a black bear
- 6:16Speaker 1: hunting season in twenty twenty three? Your four choices? Missouri, Florida, Washington,
- 6:25Speaker 1: New Jersey. Three of those states had a black bear season.
- 6:30Speaker 1: One of them didn't Missouri, Florida, Washington, or New Jersey.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Nobody looks very confident in the room. Just a lot
- 6:37Speaker 1: of educated guesses. I think Randal a lot of pressure
- 6:42Speaker 1: here on the perfect game to get question one right.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Boy, that does make it tough.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Well, I mean if you have ever posed us a
- 6:49Speaker 6: trick question or a tricky question, I mean all of
- 6:53Speaker 6: these states are recent or recent Lean Okay had had
- 7:00Speaker 6: non controversy. Sure, I've been in the media about black
- 7:04Speaker 6: bear hunting.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Johanni thinks I'm trying to get you guys to trip
- 7:08Speaker 1: up and not get that perfect game and double the
- 7:11Speaker 1: conservation donation.
- 7:12Speaker 6: Did Shelby get this one?
- 7:14Speaker 1: I'm not going to tell you that a lot of folks,
- 7:16Speaker 1: so a lot of folks have request then to know
- 7:18Speaker 1: what Shelby gets right. I don't want to tell you that,
- 7:20Speaker 1: because then I think it would inform your answer. You'd think, like, Okay,
- 7:23Speaker 1: Shelby knew this, so you know it would be this
- 7:27Speaker 1: certain kind of answer because she knew the answer. So
- 7:30Speaker 1: I'm not going to tell you which ones. Honest, it's
- 7:34Speaker 1: one of the most common requests that we get. But
- 7:38Speaker 1: you're not going to find out which ones shall be. God,
- 7:40Speaker 1: is everybody ready again? Four choices? Missouri, Florida, Washington, New Jersey.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Which of those states did not have a black bear
- 7:47Speaker 1: hunting season in twenty twenty three? Go ahead and reveal
- 7:52Speaker 1: your answers. We have Brady saying New Jersey, Nate Says Washington,
- 7:58Speaker 1: Corinne New Jersey, Randall Washington, Corey Washington, Max New Jersey,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Jannis Washington met New Jersey. Nobody's gonna have a perfect game.
- 8:13Speaker 1: The correct answer was Florida whoad zero percent. Answered a
- 8:18Speaker 1: zero percent, which.
- 8:20Speaker 6: Does not didn't happen.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I'm glad we're all starting back at zero does not?
- 8:24Speaker 1: That didn't happen?
- 8:26Speaker 2: Choice? Holy God.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Washington harvested one thousand, seven hundred and ninety nine black
- 8:33Speaker 1: bears in twenty twenty three, followed by New Jersey with
- 8:37Speaker 1: four hundred ninety three and Missouri with twelve. There was
- 8:41Speaker 1: a black bear hunting season in Florida from the nineteen
- 8:44Speaker 1: thirties until nineteen ninety three. The state reopened bear hunting
- 8:48Speaker 1: in the fall of twenty fifteen, but shut it down
- 8:51Speaker 1: again after just two days. In those forty eight hours,
- 8:54Speaker 1: hunters harvested two hundred and ninety five bears, with some
- 8:58Speaker 1: regions going over triple their quota. Official said it was
- 9:01Speaker 1: a good sign that the bear populations are growing in
- 9:05Speaker 1: Florida and that the haunt could be on the table
- 9:07Speaker 1: again in coming years.
- 9:09Speaker 5: So I thought there was controversy in New Jersey and
- 9:13Speaker 5: then like a couple of years ago, they just closed trap.
- 9:17Speaker 1: It was the spring seasons that were like under its
- 9:20Speaker 1: tack in Washington and maybe New Jersey as well. But
- 9:23Speaker 1: those states' harvest. Washington guilt eighteen hundred bears last year,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and yeah, New Jersey five hundred of them.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Precious off alright.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Question two, the topic is cooking. This crab is dually
- 9:40Speaker 1: named after the cold climate where it lives and because
- 9:44Speaker 1: it's meat turns from red to white when cooked. The
- 9:50Speaker 1: topic is cooking. Randall, you have this one, right, boy,
- 9:55Speaker 1: I hope, So Maxwell, do you have this one right?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Maybe this crab is dually named after the cold climate
- 10:03Speaker 1: where it lives, and because it's meat turns from red
- 10:07Speaker 1: to white when cooked.
- 10:12Speaker 6: The question says then that it has two names.
- 10:15Speaker 1: No, it's it's dually named, meaning that it has too
- 10:20Speaker 1: one name that serves two purposes. Here, this crab is
- 10:25Speaker 1: dually named after the cold climate where it lives, and
- 10:29Speaker 1: because it's meat turns from red to white when cooked.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Yes?
- 10:38Speaker 8: Going back to answers, you disgree, don't you?
- 10:52Speaker 6: Now?
- 10:52Speaker 1: Did you change your answer?
- 10:53Speaker 2: Yanni?
- 10:54Speaker 6: I would changed it anyways.
- 10:55Speaker 1: So you did change it? Okay? Is everybody ready? Go
- 10:59Speaker 1: ahead and your answers. We have Brady saying dungeoness, Nate
- 11:04Speaker 1: saying dungeness. Corinne says snow. Randall snow Corey snow Max
- 11:12Speaker 1: snow Yanni had dungeness. He crossed it out and wrote
- 11:16Speaker 1: down snow. Matt says snow. They got it. The correct
- 11:20Speaker 1: answer is snow crab.
- 11:22Speaker 4: I think wrote down snow.
- 11:27Speaker 1: The name snow crab refers to two primary subspecies that
- 11:31Speaker 1: reside in the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans. They
- 11:35Speaker 1: live in deep cold water and have long legs with
- 11:38Speaker 1: thin shells. Three pounds of Alaskan snow crab legs cost
- 11:42Speaker 1: roughly one hundred and twenty dollars online, which is about
- 11:46Speaker 1: the same price as dungeness crabs and half the price
- 11:49Speaker 1: of King crabs. Has anybody had a snow crab in here?
- 11:53Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 11:54Speaker 2: I don't think I have lotsome.
- 11:56Speaker 1: No, you have had a lot of snow crabs. Yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 1: let me tell the dectris and you missed it.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 7: Man, we have been to Joe's crab Shack, No, I
- 12:04Speaker 7: have not. They serve like, oh, you can eat snow crab?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Oh really?
- 12:08Speaker 3: Actually road Thursday nights Thursday Night.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I haven't been to Bar nine since we did kick
- 12:16Speaker 1: Still the kind of place.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Still you want to check buck first and then get
- 12:25Speaker 2: into the snow crowd.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Okay, all you can eat snow crab at Bar nine
- 12:28Speaker 1: Not the kind of place I'd want to do All
- 12:30Speaker 1: you can eat seafood, But I'm intrigued. Here's question three.
- 12:33Speaker 1: The topic is woodsmanship. This is our listener question of
- 12:36Speaker 1: the Week, which is won by Stephen Higgs for sending
- 12:39Speaker 1: this great question. Stephen is going to get a board
- 12:41Speaker 1: game signed by the crew If you want a chance
- 12:43Speaker 1: to win our listener Question of the Week, then send
- 12:46Speaker 1: your question to Trivia at the meat eater dot com.
- 12:49Speaker 1: What's the name of the North Star? Randall quick to answer.
- 12:58Speaker 4: You know, I say that is the only bar I've
- 13:01Speaker 4: danced on the bar at But then I remembered another bar?
- 13:06Speaker 1: So was Bar nine the first or the second?
- 13:09Speaker 4: I don't know?
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, import in detail?
- 13:14Speaker 6: How many weeks ago was that?
- 13:16Speaker 4: Oh? At least and fifty.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Phil Do they have the best karaoke and Bozeman? This
- 13:23Speaker 1: is like an ad for Bar nine? Now?
- 13:25Speaker 10: Oh boy, I don't know, man, I've been I've been
- 13:27Speaker 10: out of the karaoke scene pretty much since kicking Ball
- 13:29Speaker 10: because I was like my excuse to get out with
- 13:31Speaker 10: you know, two kids at home. I don't I don't
- 13:33Speaker 10: really get out of karaoke anymore. Bar I that's the
- 13:35Speaker 10: only reason I would go to Bar nine these days, though,
- 13:37Speaker 10: is karaoke.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Karaoke and all you can eat snow crab. Maybe they
- 13:41Speaker 1: fall on the same night sometimes. What a tree?
- 13:44Speaker 6: I think we got to put it on the schedule.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Here's question three again. The topic gets wooden is woodsmanship?
- 13:49Speaker 1: What's the name of the North Star? Yanni you have
- 13:54Speaker 1: this one right.
- 13:57Speaker 6: The word just popped into my head as I was
- 13:59Speaker 6: carrying a Max his eyes and I'm going with.
- 14:01Speaker 2: It, Max, Max, when you look over here?
- 14:07Speaker 1: That did that help you? Corey? Now what were you
- 14:10Speaker 1: dancing to? Randy?
- 14:13Speaker 7: Uh?
- 14:16Speaker 4: It was a whole it was a whole playlist.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Oh wow, you had you had a residency at the
- 14:22Speaker 1: bar nine.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm trying to remember. I believe one of the
- 14:26Speaker 4: songs played was Uh. I don't remember the artist, but
- 14:33Speaker 4: the song Bougatti where the choruses I woke up in
- 14:37Speaker 4: a new book, Gotti. I woke up in a new book, Gotti.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Come on, Yeah, this.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Is a long time ago.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It's not a very old song though, so uh, like
- 14:51Speaker 1: you said, and fifty weeks again, what's the name for
- 14:55Speaker 1: the north Star?
- 14:57Speaker 4: I think the artist's name is ace Hood.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Wow? Okay, well we can fact check that it's impressive.
- 15:05Speaker 1: It's not impressive because he danced on the bar to it.
- 15:07Speaker 1: It's obviously like a very meaningful song to him. It
- 15:10Speaker 1: is ace Hood.
- 15:11Speaker 11: You're right, when did that drop? Let's see here, twenty sixteen.
- 15:23Speaker 1: That was twenty thirteen, so it's within the last decade
- 15:27Speaker 1: that Randall in high school. Randall was on the bar.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Does everyone have an answer for the name of the
- 15:32Speaker 1: north PhD successfully sounds like go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 15:43Speaker 1: We have Brady saying Magellan. He crossed out Garmin. Nate
- 15:47Speaker 1: says Polaris. Corinne says you are space. She couldn't finish
- 15:52Speaker 1: the answer. Randall says Polaris. Corey says guide Star. Max
- 15:58Speaker 1: says bright. Yeah, says Polaris. Matt says Nordic. We have
- 16:04Speaker 1: a correct answer in the room. It's Polaris. I think
- 16:08Speaker 1: we had uh Nat, Yanni and Randall get that one right.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Polaris is Latin for polestar. It's found at the tip
- 16:17Speaker 1: of the little Dipper's handle. As the name implies, it
- 16:20Speaker 1: sits less than one degree away from the north celestial pole.
- 16:25Speaker 1: The star was first cataloged in one sixty nine AD
- 16:29Speaker 1: by a Roman astronomer, but it had long been used
- 16:32Speaker 1: before that for navigation. Some ancient tribes referred to Polaris
- 16:36Speaker 1: as the star of the sea because it was essential
- 16:39Speaker 1: for traveling by water. Question four. The topic is fishing, Sorry, Nate.
- 16:45Speaker 1: This next great question is via Jimmy Horn, what nautical
- 16:49Speaker 1: measurement is equal? To six feet.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I think I got this one.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Okay, what nautical measurement is equal to six feet? The
- 17:00Speaker 1: topic is fishing. It's his question for Yanni. Nate Randall
- 17:04Speaker 1: all appear confident.
- 17:07Speaker 6: I think Nate's playing a pretty strong game for his
- 17:09Speaker 6: first one.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Nate told me the other day he got eight right
- 17:13Speaker 1: in uh in the Gerony episode, which would have sent
- 17:16Speaker 1: him to a tiebreaker.
- 17:17Speaker 4: I think Nate's a strong competitor.
- 17:20Speaker 3: And then I double tied with Hansei in overtime.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I would have loved that. We still have yet to
- 17:25Speaker 1: have a double tiebreaker. Phil said he has a special
- 17:29Speaker 1: soundback there he's gonna play for when that happens, if
- 17:32Speaker 1: we ever go to a second tiebreaker. It's never happened
- 17:35Speaker 1: in one hundred and thirty something episodes of Meat Eater Trivia.
- 17:39Speaker 6: Where is everybody's head go When you say Phil has
- 17:42Speaker 6: a special noise, he's gonna play.
- 17:44Speaker 1: God, I don't know. We're gonna find out, Phil. He
- 17:46Speaker 1: talks about it all the time. He says, I can't
- 17:49Speaker 1: wait till we do the second tiebreaker and I can
- 17:51Speaker 1: unveil the sound.
- 17:52Speaker 6: How do you find a special noise?
- 17:54Speaker 1: Phil?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:54Speaker 10: Phil, I wish I had to good. Answer that question, Joanna,
- 17:59Speaker 10: Spencer's can talk out of his ass right.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Now, still on the spot. So he has a special
- 18:05Speaker 1: noise when that happens, you don't Maybe that special noise
- 18:10Speaker 1: just comes out of his mouth. It's not even a
- 18:12Speaker 1: drop that he ok to you.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Just play the regular.
- 18:18Speaker 6: Twice as loud.
- 18:20Speaker 4: What does it say when you play it backwards?
- 18:22Speaker 1: It's backmasking. It's uh yeah, I would reveal a lot
- 18:25Speaker 1: of things about phil that we don't want to know again.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Question for what nautical measurement is equal to six feet.
- 18:34Speaker 9: Between two and last time I got my captain's license?
- 18:39Speaker 9: You know forgot it?
- 18:44Speaker 7: Is?
- 18:44Speaker 1: Everybody ready?
- 18:45Speaker 2: I think I'm in trouble.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brady saying,
- 18:51Speaker 1: what's that say? Brady tears that's not right, Nate says fathom,
- 18:56Speaker 1: Karinn says League Randall fathom, Cory crossed out, Fathom wrote down,
- 19:02Speaker 1: League Max says not Yannis Fathom met without an answer.
- 19:09Speaker 1: The correct answer is fathom. About half of you got
- 19:13Speaker 1: that one right. A fathom is a unit of measurement
- 19:17Speaker 1: for depth. The measurement originated as the distance from the
- 19:21Speaker 1: middle fingertip of one hand to the middle fingertip of
- 19:24Speaker 1: the other hand of a large man holding his arms
- 19:27Speaker 1: fully extended. The United States EPA allows anyone to perform
- 19:32Speaker 1: a burial at sea, but requires you to be at
- 19:35Speaker 1: least three miles off shore and in one hundred fathoms
- 19:38Speaker 1: of water before doing so. Those are their words, one
- 19:42Speaker 1: hundred fathoms of water. If you're going to do a
- 19:45Speaker 1: burial at sea, question five, the topic is geared. This
- 19:48Speaker 1: next great question is via pressed in dominie, sometimes referred
- 19:53Speaker 1: to as the trailer hook. This is the extra hook
- 19:56Speaker 1: that's added to an existing lure to improve hook sets.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Sometimes referred to as a trailer hook. This is the
- 20:07Speaker 1: extra hook that's added to an existing lure to improve
- 20:11Speaker 1: hook sets. Randall, do you have this one right?
- 20:15Speaker 4: Not sure?
- 20:16Speaker 1: Okay?
- 20:17Speaker 4: Max?
- 20:17Speaker 1: You you appear to be confident, very confident. Why do
- 20:20Speaker 1: you think you know this one? Max? Without without giving
- 20:22Speaker 1: away too much, what would you add one of these
- 20:24Speaker 1: hooks to? Do you want to say? I'm not gonna
- 20:27Speaker 1: say I've already got you already gave Yanni the snow
- 20:32Speaker 1: crab answer? This is question five. We're gonna scoreboard updates?
- 20:36Speaker 6: Is not right?
- 20:38Speaker 1: You fix? Okay? Sometimes referred to as a trailer. This
- 20:44Speaker 1: is the extra hook that's added to an existing lure
- 20:47Speaker 1: to improve hook sets. Max to you and Yanni. Are
- 20:49Speaker 1: you in agreement on the answer?
- 20:55Speaker 6: Change once we play this game? Change it?
- 20:59Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 20:59Speaker 6: It's a new thing and we've started doing it mostly
- 21:01Speaker 6: you do it with rand not yeah, and it's fun.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Typically, though you don't wave your answer to.
- 21:10Speaker 9: The entire.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I trust you, guys, not to change Randall. Did you
- 21:16Speaker 1: see his answer? Did do you agree with his answer?
- 21:19Speaker 4: I don't want to say, because everybody knows answer is Randall.
- 21:24Speaker 5: When Spencer asked me, I said no, Hopefully he was
- 21:26Speaker 5: going to change his answer.
- 21:27Speaker 4: I just don't know how Like she's.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Well, we know he's a thief, so he might be.
- 21:34Speaker 6: He said, allowed him to take the bangles.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Dude, Yeah, I guess you're right. We allow him to
- 21:41Speaker 1: take answers sometimes if the whiteboard happens to you know,
- 21:45Speaker 1: seeing it just the right angle. Is everybody ready go
- 21:49Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brady saying the
- 21:53Speaker 1: boot look caboose, caboose. Uh Nate says, Buddy, Karen says, anchor,
- 22:00Speaker 1: Randall says stinger Corey says stinger, Max, stinger, Yanni, stinger, Matt,
- 22:09Speaker 1: stinger upside down. They got it. The correct answer is
- 22:13Speaker 1: stinger hook. Stinger hooks are used across every fishing pursuit,
- 22:18Speaker 1: from saltwater fishermen to fly fishermen to ice fishermen. They
- 22:21Speaker 1: are commonly attached to lures that have a big profile
- 22:25Speaker 1: with small hooks, or when there's a light bite. A
- 22:28Speaker 1: stinger hook can be attached to an existing hook or
- 22:31Speaker 1: connected by line or swivel. Phil we have half or
- 22:36Speaker 1: we are halfway through the game of trivia, give us
- 22:38Speaker 1: a leaderboard update.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Terrible sir.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Apologies to Brady got zero points.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Glad I said yes to this.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Questions, that's what it looks like.
- 22:49Speaker 10: Karinn has Ony, Max, Matt, and Nate all have two
- 22:54Speaker 10: points apiece and then tied up in first place are
- 22:57Speaker 10: Giannis and Randall with four.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Here we go almost a perfect.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Almost Cory, Yanni, what in the fly fishing world would
- 23:07Speaker 1: you attach a stinger hook to?
- 23:09Speaker 6: I think I've only attached them to streamers.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Yeah, streamers swinging big streamers.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Growing up, we did jig heads for walleyes.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Walle anglers will go after him a lot. Question six
- 23:26Speaker 1: the topic is hunting. Bow Hunting dot Com declared this
- 23:31Speaker 1: brand of baked Goods to be one of the best
- 23:33Speaker 1: tree stands snacks of all time. O Man, Yanni's jaw
- 23:40Speaker 1: is on what uh good? We're throwing the bone and
- 23:51Speaker 1: the baked goods category. I mean hunting. Bow Hunting dot
- 23:54Speaker 1: Com declared this brand of baked Goods to be one
- 23:58Speaker 1: of the best tree stands snacks of all time. Randall,
- 24:04Speaker 1: you have this one brand? The brand looking for the
- 24:08Speaker 1: brand declared this brand of baked Goods to be one
- 24:11Speaker 1: of the best tree stand snacks of all time.
- 24:15Speaker 4: If my answer is wrong, they're wrong.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Okay, it's not one of the Yeah, you wrote down
- 24:22Speaker 1: an answer for one of the best duck blind snacks

- 24:27Speaker 5: My favorite turkey snack is Incrustables.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I did see you posting about them this season.
- 24:38Speaker 1: I'll tell you this Max that was on their list
- 24:40Speaker 1: as well. Really well, like number two A PB and
- 24:43Speaker 1: J was on I think it was number nine on
- 24:45Speaker 1: their list of the best tree stand snacks should be
- 24:49Speaker 1: Number one.
- 24:49Speaker 6: Is everybody Ready brown Schwager with a thick layer of
- 24:55Speaker 6: butter on.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'd really questioned some things about their authority on tree
- 25:03Speaker 1: stand snacks. If they said that one, it's everybody ready,
- 25:07Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brady saying hostess.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Nate says little Debbie. Krinn says, what's that? Say? Crin
- 25:18Speaker 1: crossed out? Little Debbie Randall and Cory and Max and
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yanni and Matt say little Debbie. They got it. The
- 25:26Speaker 1: correct answer is little Debbie. Little Debbie makes gas station
- 25:31Speaker 1: staples like Swiss rolls, chocolate cupcakes, zebra cakes, oatmeal cream pies,
- 25:37Speaker 1: cosmic brownies, nutty buddies, fudge rounds, and honey buns. Other
- 25:41Speaker 1: foods on bowhunting dot COM's list include Halloween candy, trail mix,
- 25:46Speaker 1: jerky lunch abules, and apples.
- 25:49Speaker 4: With all due respect to bowhunting dot Com, that's like
- 25:53Speaker 4: saying the best breakfast food is Kellogg's, right, I mean correct.
- 26:00Speaker 1: They didn't want to offend anybody with like their specific
- 26:02Speaker 1: Little Debbie choice, because if they would say, you know,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like oatmeal cream pie sucks and then be fighting words.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but what's your favorite candy mars?
- 26:13Speaker 1: What's your favorite? Little Debbie Randall.
- 26:15Speaker 4: I like omeal cream pie s iced to eat a
- 26:17Speaker 4: lot of them. Get them in the big box.
- 26:21Speaker 1: What about in the duck blind Matt and Brady? What
- 26:24Speaker 1: what little debbies make it there?
- 26:26Speaker 2: Well, you can tell by my answer. I wrote hostess,
- 26:28Speaker 2: which is.
- 26:32Speaker 9: And I'm a hostess, crunchy donut guy with a little
- 26:34Speaker 9: mountain dew about four in the morning.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Little diel feel down the hatch and you're.
- 26:41Speaker 1: A lot of ducks.
- 26:42Speaker 7: I like Nutter butters. Yeah they're really good. But here's
- 26:45Speaker 7: my problem. From a tree stand snack standpoint, is.
- 26:49Speaker 4: There too loud? That rappers are way too loud and they.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Can get crushed real easy. It's yeah, it's like a
- 26:55Speaker 1: smash burger by the time.
- 26:56Speaker 7: But if you go oatmeal cream pie, it doesn't matter.
- 26:58Speaker 2: It's just as good.
- 27:00Speaker 1: In seven, the topic is cooking. This word translates to
- 27:05Speaker 1: barbecue in Spanish and refers to meat that's been slowly
- 27:10Speaker 1: cooked and shredded. This word translates to barbecue in Spanish
- 27:18Speaker 1: and refers to meat that's been slowly cooked and shredded.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You have this one, right, Max, Maybe Brady.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I'm looking for my first point, so yeah, any any help?
- 27:32Speaker 2: I think I got it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: The flying V duck blinds, do those have like little
- 27:39Speaker 1: grills in them?
- 27:40Speaker 2: They do.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Yeah, well gets cooked on those.
- 27:43Speaker 9: Typically it's we're kind of a breakfast burrito crew, so
- 27:46Speaker 9: I'd say like sausage and bacon, potatoes, eggs, cheese.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Oh so you're making the burrito in the blind. Oh,
- 27:53Speaker 1: it's not a pre made burrito.
- 27:54Speaker 2: No, no, no, no no. We have a bit of a
- 27:57Speaker 2: rolling roster.
- 27:58Speaker 9: So if I cook one day, then Matt's cooking the
- 27:59Speaker 9: next kind of runs down the roster. And yeah, somebody
- 28:03Speaker 9: in the blind just kind of you can still keep
- 28:05Speaker 9: your gun by and shoot, but when the rest of
- 28:07Speaker 9: the time you need to focus making the whole breathing
- 28:10Speaker 9: the team, feed the team.
- 28:13Speaker 1: This word translates to barbecue in Spanish and refers to
- 28:17Speaker 1: meat that's been slowly cooked and shredded. This is question seven, Yanni,
- 28:27Speaker 1: do you have an answer at all?
- 28:28Speaker 6: I haven't answered, but it's not.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Okay, separate him and what do you got.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Max, Let's just not have any more funny business inside
- 28:40Speaker 4: of the table.
- 28:42Speaker 6: What does it say? This is never play a leap
- 28:45Speaker 6: frog with a unicorn. I didn't write that. But speaking
- 28:51Speaker 6: of unicorns, you know the museumand Rockies right now has
- 28:53Speaker 6: a mythical creature. Uh, really cool. It like explains the
- 29:01Speaker 6: genesis A lot of these things, you know, or possibly
- 29:04Speaker 6: what could be the it's.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Exactly what kind of like, well, that's exactly kind of
- 29:08Speaker 1: stuff they should curate there. That's fun. Museums too stuffy
- 29:17Speaker 1: if it doesn't have something weird like that, it is
- 29:20Speaker 1: everybody ready, Corey, Max or what do you got?
- 29:30Speaker 4: I don't remember?
- 29:31Speaker 1: Yanni? Are you ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 29:36Speaker 1: We have Brady saying barbaricae. That's too obvious, says Barbica.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Corinne and Randall and Corey say barbaricoa. Max as the
- 29:47Speaker 1: word that's gonna get me in trouble because I don't
- 29:48Speaker 1: roll my rs enough. That's bria.
- 29:51Speaker 9: Uh.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Yanni says barbarica. Met crossed out asado and wrote down barbaricoa.
- 29:57Speaker 2: That's too obvious.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Everybody except Maxico it's barbarica. Although most associate barbaricoa with
- 30:09Speaker 1: Mexican cuisine, it was actually created in the Caribbean centuries ago.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Barbarica can be made by roasting or brazing, and is
- 30:18Speaker 1: typically served with tortillas for a great barbicoa recipe that
- 30:22Speaker 1: can apply to venison, goose, or beef check out Dannielle
- 30:26Speaker 1: Prouveit's article on the medeater dot com called barbicoa tacos
- 30:29Speaker 1: with peaches. Question eight, topic is conservation?
- 30:35Speaker 6: Really, I didn't I didn't know.
- 30:37Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 30:37Speaker 3: The shredding for me is what gave me. I was questioning.
- 30:41Speaker 3: I was worried about.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Carnitoes, barbica.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Here's questions about getting the right answer.
- 30:46Speaker 1: The topic is conservation. This military base is located inside
- 30:52Speaker 1: of the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Really, Yanni's jaws on
- 30:58Speaker 1: the floor for the second time this game. Uh, and
- 31:02Speaker 1: we have Maxwell quick to answer answer. You're sure he's
- 31:05Speaker 1: gonna now peek at the boards of Corey and Yanni
- 31:09Speaker 1: with all this extra time he's given himself. This military
- 31:12Speaker 1: base is located inside the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Max,
- 31:20Speaker 1: how do you feel about your answer?
- 31:23Speaker 6: You shouldn't even ask me.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Okay, Karenne with a total freaking guess, She's declared, Nate,
- 31:30Speaker 1: do you have this one right?
- 31:33Speaker 3: I think what branch of the military were you in?
- 31:35Speaker 6: Again?
- 31:35Speaker 11: Army?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Army thrown it. We've thrown two bones to him now
- 31:41Speaker 1: with the baked goods and with this question about the
- 31:44Speaker 1: military base. It's located inside of the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.
- 31:50Speaker 3: I don't consider there's a bone, one because he didn't
- 31:53Speaker 3: plan it. And two I'll explain later.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Okay, Randall, has he had to come up with a name?
- 32:01Speaker 5: I don't even know if mine's a military basically, be
- 32:02Speaker 5: honest with you.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I don't either's. That's where I'm at, Randall.
- 32:08Speaker 1: How do you feel about your answer?
- 32:10Speaker 4: I don't really like it?
- 32:12Speaker 11: Okay, it does not I know, I know this, but
- 32:14Speaker 11: I don't really like what.
- 32:15Speaker 1: I have to Yanni, do you like what you have down?
- 32:19Speaker 1: I think you and Randall are in front right now.
- 32:23Speaker 1: We'll get a scoreboard update from Phil after this.
- 32:27Speaker 6: I'm happy with my answers.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Okay, is everybody ready? Randall?
- 32:32Speaker 6: I'm happy I have one.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I'll go. I'll go with this.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Okay, Matt, are you ready? Brady? Are you ready? Go
- 32:38Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brady saying, Doug Way,
- 32:45Speaker 1: Nate Says, White Sands, Corinne White Sands, Randal Elsberg, Cory
- 32:52Speaker 1: White Sands, Max Area fifty one, Yanni White Sands, Matt,

- 33:08Speaker 2: I erased yesh Area fifty one and twenty nine palms.
- 33:13Speaker 5: You should give me like five points for God.
- 33:15Speaker 1: The Desert National Wildlife Refuge is the biggest refuge in
- 33:19Speaker 1: the Lower forty eight. It was created in nineteen thirty
- 33:23Speaker 1: six to protect critical habitat for the desert big horned
- 33:26Speaker 1: sheep and desert tortoise. Area fifty one moved into the
- 33:30Speaker 1: refuge in nineteen fifty five, selecting the desolate site because
- 33:34Speaker 1: the dry lake next to it was the perfect place
- 33:37Speaker 1: to test aircrafts. The best view that a citizen can
- 33:40Speaker 1: get of Area fifty one is from Tickaboo Peak, which
- 33:43Speaker 1: sits about twenty five miles to the east of Area
- 33:46Speaker 1: fifty one on Blm Land. From that mountain you can
- 33:49Speaker 1: catch a glimpse of the Air Force hangars. However, thirty
- 33:52Speaker 1: years ago, Tickaboo Peak was actually the third best place
- 33:56Speaker 1: to see Area fifty one. From prior to that, you
- 33:58Speaker 1: could hike to White Sides Ridge or Freedom Ridge, which
- 34:02Speaker 1: are located fifteen miles from the base on federal land,
- 34:05Speaker 1: but those places were close to the public in nineteen
- 34:08Speaker 1: ninety five due to security concerns. Phil we have two
- 34:12Speaker 1: questions left give us a leaderboard update, you can.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Just skip me.
- 34:18Speaker 10: Unfortunately we camp Brady, you got one point last place,
- 34:21Speaker 10: Thank you. Coming up next to carenn with two nates, Corey,
- 34:26Speaker 10: Max and Matt are.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Weren't they tied up the last time we did this.
- 34:28Speaker 6: Everyone's got in the same exact spot.
- 34:30Speaker 10: They've all got four points and still tied up. A
- 34:33Speaker 10: Randall and Giannis was six.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Did area fifty one come to anyone else's mind last?
- 34:38Speaker 2: I mean, I had I wrote it down the race.
- 34:42Speaker 4: It crossed my mind. I didn't think it was. I
- 34:44Speaker 4: was searching for the name of a realm my emotion.
- 34:48Speaker 2: I didn't know if it was like an actual base.
- 34:50Speaker 5: Yeah, my emotion's going from the only person who didn't
- 34:53Speaker 5: get the right answer to the only person getting the
- 34:55Speaker 5: right answer.
- 34:56Speaker 3: It was like night and day.
- 34:57Speaker 4: That's probably a rare feat in this room.
- 34:59Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I could run around the office right now.
- 35:02Speaker 6: This is my rival, your other upcoming big day. You're
- 35:05Speaker 6: feeling to.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Think about that for a second. Max gets married in
- 35:09Speaker 1: about ten days. Here's question nine. The topic is woodsmanship
- 35:13Speaker 1: and this next great question is via Arnie Goff. According
- 35:17Speaker 1: to the CDC, the three most common poisonous plants in
- 35:21Speaker 1: America are poison ivy, poison Sumac, and poison blank. Nate
- 35:29Speaker 1: and Corinne and Max all quick to answer. According to
- 35:33Speaker 1: the CDC, the three most common poisonous plants in America
- 35:38Speaker 1: are poison ivy, poison Sumac, and poison blank. Randall, do
- 35:44Speaker 1: you have an answer?
- 35:45Speaker 3: I do?
- 35:46Speaker 1: Okay? Oh Randall? Randall so quick to answer. I didn't
- 35:49Speaker 1: even see him write down.
- 35:51Speaker 4: I've been thinking about this statistical anomaly that Max's past
- 35:56Speaker 4: two questions must have been. I challenge our scorekeeper, whose
- 36:00Speaker 4: name is escaping, if he could scour the archive for
- 36:06Speaker 4: any previous You don't need.
- 36:08Speaker 1: To do that, Matthew. We'll trust that this is the
- 36:11Speaker 1: only time it's ever happened. Max can ride that high,
- 36:14Speaker 1: breathtaking for the rest of his life. According to the CDC,
- 36:20Speaker 1: poisonous plants in America are poison ivy, poison Sumac, and
- 36:25Speaker 1: poison blank. Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 36:32Speaker 1: We have Brady saying LG. Nate and Corinne and Randall
- 36:38Speaker 1: and Cory and Max and Yanni and Matt saying oak.
- 36:43Speaker 1: They got it. The correct answer is oak. Similar to
- 36:47Speaker 1: poison ivy poison oak has three leaflets. There are two
- 36:51Speaker 1: main types of poison oak in America, the poison the
- 36:54Speaker 1: Pacific poison oak, which is found on the West coast,
- 36:58Speaker 1: and the Atlantic poison oak, which is found in the
- 37:01Speaker 1: South and the east. Pacific poison oak usually grows as
- 37:04Speaker 1: a vine, while Atlantic poison oak typically grows as a shrub. Ron.
- 37:09Speaker 1: To question ten, with Yanni and Randall tied up with
- 37:13Speaker 1: seven correct answers, they're the only players left in the
- 37:16Speaker 1: game this.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Have you ever had anybody just get one entire game?
- 37:21Speaker 9: Oh?
- 37:21Speaker 1: I mean, we've had zero's, We've had one. It's not
- 37:24Speaker 1: unheard of them. Okay, you're in good company with I
- 37:27Speaker 1: think Corrinn. She just said that she's she's been there before.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm shooting for two though, so hang.
- 37:32Speaker 1: On question ten, the topic is fishing. This Island Nation
- 37:37Speaker 1: holds the IGFA world record for brown trout, Pacific bluefin, tuna,
- 37:44Speaker 1: and striped marlin. Randal very quick to answer. He feels
- 37:50Speaker 1: confident Yanni's gonna have to get this one right to
- 37:53Speaker 1: force overtime. It seems This Island Nation holds the igf
- 37:59Speaker 1: A world record for brown trout, Pacific bluefin tuna and
- 38:04Speaker 1: striped marlin.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Randall, do you want me to help him?
- 38:08Speaker 2: I'm feeling confident.
- 38:09Speaker 4: What do you think that I just tried to really
- 38:12Speaker 4: juice you up on that last question.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Corey was looking at his hand trying to picture the globe.
- 38:19Speaker 1: It seems did you find the island nation on your hands?
- 38:23Speaker 1: Just making sure it was in the Pacific Oa?
- 38:26Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 38:27Speaker 1: Wells a brown trout, a Pacific blue fin tuna and
- 38:33Speaker 1: striped marlin. Oh wow, everyone's encouraging Yanni here Randall?

- 38:49Speaker 1: and Girlfriends? If if the wives and girlfriends wins count
- 38:53Speaker 1: towards the husband's and the boyfriends? His wife?
- 38:57Speaker 4: Not an unreasonable question?
- 38:59Speaker 1: I thought Randal was the most invested out of everybody.
- 39:04Speaker 1: When the women emerged from the room and word had
- 39:07Speaker 1: spread that his wife, Sidney was the winner, there was
- 39:11Speaker 1: a very earnest fist pump from Randall. He looked like
- 39:14Speaker 1: Tiger Woods just winning the Masters, and he said, yes.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Well, I had to listen all week to the Oh
- 39:21Speaker 4: I'm not gonna do well. I hope I get one
- 39:23Speaker 4: question right, I hope I get one question right, and
- 39:26Speaker 4: so I felt I was right.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's satisfying. Okay again Question ten. This island nation
- 39:34Speaker 1: holds the IGFA world record for brown trout, Pacific bluefin tuna,
- 39:39Speaker 1: and stripe marlin. Yanni, are you ready, Yeah, go ahead
- 39:43Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Brady saying New Zealand.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Nate says Australia. Corinne says New Zealand, Randal New Zealand,
- 39:54Speaker 1: Corey New Zealand, Max New Zealand, Yanni New Zealand, Matt
- 40:00Speaker 1: New Zealand. They got it. The correct answer is New Zealand.
- 40:04Speaker 1: New Zealand holds fifty five IGFA world records, including smooth
- 40:10Speaker 1: hammerhead shark, thresher shark, eagle ray, yellow moray eel, and
- 40:15Speaker 1: short tail stingray. Fly. Fisherman magazine declared New Zealand the
- 40:19Speaker 1: second best place for trout fishing in the world, saying
- 40:23Speaker 1: the country has giant trout who live in a beautiful
- 40:26Speaker 1: place and aren't picky about what flies they'll eat. We
- 40:29Speaker 1: have Randall and Yanni tied up at eight points, meaning
- 40:33Speaker 1: we're going to overtime play.
- 40:35Speaker 6: The drop Phil was the best place to fly tie breakup.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't remember.
- 40:42Speaker 10: How they just cut it at if you ain't first
- 40:44Speaker 10: your laughs and then like going to other stuff.
- 40:46Speaker 1: It's funny.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I never liked a film.
- 40:50Speaker 1: The tie breaking topic is fishing, and this question came
- 40:54Speaker 1: to me via James Costan. What is the assumed average
- 40:59Speaker 1: way per person that the coastguard uses when determining a
- 41:04Speaker 1: boat's passenger capacity? So what this question is implying if
- 41:09Speaker 1: you had a boat that said it's rated for six people,
- 41:13Speaker 1: what is the weight that they are using to calculate
- 41:17Speaker 1: that that they think each person weighs. Here's the question,
- 41:21Speaker 1: what is the assumed average weight per person that the
- 41:24Speaker 1: coastguard uses when determining a boat's passenger capacity. We're down
- 41:29Speaker 1: to Yanni and Randall, but everyone else in the room
- 41:33Speaker 1: is going to write down an answer, because if somebody
- 41:35Speaker 1: gets it right on the nose, meat Eater will add
- 41:37Speaker 1: an extra one hundred dollars donation to the end of
- 41:40Speaker 1: the game. Randal very quick to answer. It's almost as
- 41:43Speaker 1: though you know it well.
- 41:46Speaker 4: I am a captain.
- 41:48Speaker 1: And a doctor. Doctor.
- 41:50Speaker 4: I think I know it. I think I know it.
- 41:52Speaker 4: I've always remembered it as like a percentage of a Randal,
- 41:56Speaker 4: so I try to just are you really a cat?
- 42:01Speaker 4: I haven't expired captain's license?
- 42:03Speaker 1: Thanks captain?
- 42:04Speaker 6: Where are you living when you got that?
- 42:06Speaker 4: Alaska?
- 42:08Speaker 1: Yanni? How do you feel about your answer? You don't
- 42:10Speaker 1: have the captain credential as it appears.
- 42:13Speaker 6: No, I'm taking an educated guess.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Here, okay, educated guess. Nate also quick to answer, Nate,
- 42:19Speaker 1: do you know this one?
- 42:21Speaker 2: No clue?
- 42:21Speaker 1: Okay, no clue?
- 42:22Speaker 5: Maybe change it.
- 42:24Speaker 1: After Maxwell changes his answer, we will reveal our whiteboards again.
- 42:28Speaker 1: The question is what is the assumed average weight per
- 42:32Speaker 1: person that the coast guard uses when determining a boat's
- 42:37Speaker 1: passenger capacity. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 42:43Speaker 1: Brady saying one hundred and eighty pounds. Nate says one
- 42:47Speaker 1: hundred and sixty five pounds, Corinne says one hundred and
- 42:50Speaker 1: fifty pounds, Corey says one hundred and sixty five pounds.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Max says one hundred and fifty five pounds, Matt says
- 42:59Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty five pounds. And our two players left.
- 43:03Speaker 1: We have Yanni saying two hundred pounds and Randall saying
- 43:07Speaker 1: one hundred and sixty pounds. One of you got it
- 43:11Speaker 1: right on the nose. The correct answer it's going to
- 43:15Speaker 1: be two hundred pounds is one hundred eighty five pounds,
- 43:19Speaker 1: making Yanni our winner. He has fifteen pounds off and
- 43:23Speaker 1: Matt getting it right on the nose with one hundred
- 43:26Speaker 1: and eighty five pounds.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Nice work, boys.
- 43:29Speaker 1: So Yanni fifteen pounds off, Randall twenty five pounds off
- 43:34Speaker 1: and Matt right on the nose. From nineteen sixty to
- 43:38Speaker 1: twenty eleven that number was one hundred and sixty pounds,
- 43:42Speaker 1: but the Coastguard i'd making a change to one hundred
- 43:45Speaker 1: eighty five pounds in two thousand and six and made
- 43:48Speaker 1: it official five years later. So it used to be
- 43:51Speaker 1: one sixty, which I think a few of you said,
- 43:54Speaker 1: including Randall who has the expired captain's.
- 43:57Speaker 6: License that aspired.
- 43:58Speaker 1: But in two thousand poetic.
- 44:00Speaker 4: There's something poetic about.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Till one hundred and eighty five pounds.
- 44:04Speaker 2: In certain areas of the country, a certain attire, they.
- 44:07Speaker 6: Had the air on the side of caution, because I mean,
- 44:10Speaker 6: what you know is it if you have six of
- 44:13Speaker 6: you know me Randall and not Grady, then the one
- 44:18Speaker 6: sixty five or the one eighty five you're way under
- 44:21Speaker 6: is the both gonna hold us?
- 44:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 44:23Speaker 4: I also think this number might be stuck in my
- 44:25Speaker 4: head from being in a canoe. And you see the
- 44:28Speaker 4: US Coast Guard radio on the little plateon pre twenty eleven.
- 44:32Speaker 4: I probably spent all my childhood staring at that thing. Well,
- 44:35Speaker 4: I better not get any bigger one hundred.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Eighty five pounds.
- 44:39Speaker 5: I sent a picture to my coast Guard buddy and
- 44:42Speaker 5: he said one to eighty.
- 44:43Speaker 6: Oh, so he even got that rong.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Okay, Well, yeah, he's afric Coast Guard right there. Yanni
- 44:47Speaker 1: is our winner. He gets to choose where the six
- 44:50Speaker 1: hundred dollars donation from me eater goes. Yanni, what's it
- 44:54Speaker 1: gonna be?
- 44:55Speaker 6: Uh? Colaradden's for responsible wildlife management. Still, I know everybody's
- 45:00Speaker 6: sick of hearing about it, but I believe it's still
- 45:02Speaker 6: very important topic. The latest over there is that the
- 45:07Speaker 6: signature gatherers that needed to collect I forget one hundred
- 45:11Speaker 6: and twenty six thousand verified signatures, they turned in like
- 45:14Speaker 6: one hundred and ninety thousand, So there's a good chance.
- 45:17Speaker 6: It sounds like if those get verified that it's gonna
- 45:21Speaker 6: make it to the ballot and the real big push
- 45:24Speaker 6: is gonna come now, and I know that, you know,
- 45:26Speaker 6: we all hear a lot about it because it's on
- 45:28Speaker 6: everybody's feed all the time right now. But I feel like, again,
- 45:32Speaker 6: those of you live in Colorado, especially on the Front Range,
- 45:35Speaker 6: you need to do outreach to the non hunters and
- 45:39Speaker 6: do it in a nice way and educate them about
- 45:42Speaker 6: sound wildlife management. And that's gonna be where we're gonna
- 45:45Speaker 6: lose or win this. It's not gonna be all because
- 45:48Speaker 6: all the hunters vote for against it.
- 45:50Speaker 1: You know, Yanni and Meat Eater helping the cause sending
- 45:53Speaker 1: six hundred dollars their way. I know we got a
- 45:56Speaker 1: big announce next week. If you're not a Jabroni like
- 45:58Speaker 1: our Ifaq Emailer's brother, you'll be interested in this. So
- 46:03Speaker 1: something I'm very excited to tell you about in the
- 46:05Speaker 1: next episode and join us next week for more Meat
- 46:07Speaker 1: Eat or Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Spencer, Nice work, Johnny, nice.
- 46:14Speaker 6: Work, nice randol.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yes, Spencer from South Dakota. He's the host using those smooth,
- 46:21Speaker 1: mellow tones.
- 46:22Speaker 5: He lays them questions down, and he likes taking those
- 46:31Speaker 5: two and three year old bucks.
- 46:34Speaker 4: It is an avid amateur lock
