Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
0:06
Speaker 1: where he left off with the BBC article talking about
0:10
Speaker 1: Anya and her experience with Jeffrey Epstein once again. This
0:15
Speaker 1: article was published by BBC and the authors are Chee Chee,
0:19
Speaker 1: He's Undu, Olivia Davies and Will Dalgreen. This was just
0:26
Speaker 1: the start of the grooming process that would unfold over
0:29
Speaker 1: many months, stringing Anya along with empty promises an extended deception.
0:35
Speaker 1: Over the course of almost a year, Anya began exercising
0:39
Speaker 1: religiously to get the body she says Epstein wanted. Leslie Groff,
0:44
Speaker 1: his executive assistant who managed his diary, would email for
0:47
Speaker 1: updates on her progress, and Epstein pressured Anya for pictures,
0:51
Speaker 1: telling her not to be shy when he insisted on nudes.
0:55
Speaker 1: And look, it wasn't just casual when Epstein would get
0:58
Speaker 1: those nudes. Now he has blackmail, right, Look, you better
1:01
Speaker 1: do what I say or I'm sending this to your mom.
1:04
Speaker 1: That kind of shit. Maybe not as crude, but you
1:06
Speaker 1: get where I'm going. Epstein eventually arranged a meeting between
1:11
Speaker 1: her and the co founder of Model Agency next management,
1:14
Speaker 1: Faith Kates, as he had promised, Anya says. She says
1:17
Speaker 1: it lasted less than thirty minutes, and Anya was told
1:21
Speaker 1: Epstein would let her know the outcome. Why would Epstein
1:23
Speaker 1: let her know? Faith Kates couldn't tell her? The whole
1:26
Speaker 1: modeling industry is garbage. If I had a daughter, zero chance.
1:31
Speaker 1: I would never leave my daughter unattended with anybody in
1:34
Speaker 1: the modeling industry or a fashion show, any of it.
1:38
Speaker 1: Bunch of degenerate, weird people. Sorry, the finance here told
1:44
Speaker 1: her that Next did not want to hire her because
1:47
Speaker 1: she wasn't good enough for the New York market, Anya says,
1:50
Speaker 1: with Epstein adding that she was out of shape again
1:53
Speaker 1: talking about how somebody looks and then Faith Kates, have
1:56
Speaker 1: you taken a look at her? I mean, for real,
2:00
Speaker 1: this lady looks like Bethany Frankel and the crip keeper
2:03
Speaker 1: had a baby. And she's over here talking about, Oh,
2:06
Speaker 1: you're a hot model, You're sexy, You're this, you're that.
2:09
Speaker 1: I never understood it. It's like having somebody with no
2:12
Speaker 1: fashion sense pick out your clothes. Anya said she was dejected.
2:17
Speaker 1: Epstein told her to visit him in Palm Beach, Florida,
2:20
Speaker 1: where he was on day release while he served a sentence.
2:24
Speaker 1: He had blamed his conviction on a girl deceiving him
2:26
Speaker 1: with fake ID. She says, Anya had to sign a
2:29
Speaker 1: register kept by a uniform police officer to see him.
2:32
Speaker 1: Epstein escorted her into a back room, where he sexually
2:36
Speaker 1: assaulted her for the first time. At least two other
2:39
Speaker 1: women have said he sexually assaulted them while serving a sentence. Well,
2:44
Speaker 1: I hate to say it again, but who told you so?
2:48
Speaker 1: I had people reach out to me and tell me
2:50
Speaker 1: that they were abused by him on work release. Like
2:53
Speaker 1: it's unconscionable. And the authorities down in Florida, they're supposed
2:58
Speaker 1: to be minding him, right, he's under their care, But no,
3:03
Speaker 1: he's out here abusing people. Oh, sign into the registry,
3:07
Speaker 1: then go get abused. How is nobody sued? How is
3:10
Speaker 1: it that nobody has been brought up on charges? How
3:13
Speaker 1: is it that there's no accountability? And I know you
3:17
Speaker 1: can't take people's pensions for the most part, but bro,
3:20
Speaker 1: there gotta be a way to hold these people accountable.
3:25
Speaker 1: After the assault, Epstein ushered her out of the back
3:28
Speaker 1: room and started joking with the other assistants waiting outside
3:31
Speaker 1: that Anya was so shy. They all laughed at her,
3:34
Speaker 1: she says, and their reaction made her blame herself. Well, yeah, look,
3:38
Speaker 1: it was certainly a bunch of people that wanted to
3:41
Speaker 1: please Epstein. And I think when you call it a cult,
3:44
Speaker 1: I think that's pretty spot on. This dude was certainly
3:47
Speaker 1: a cult leader. But it wasn't done by charisma or charm.
3:52
Speaker 1: It was done because he had money. He looked for
3:54
Speaker 1: vulnerable girls who had nothing or who had dreams that
3:58
Speaker 1: he said he could help, and then he rilled them in.
4:02
Speaker 1: You notice he wasn't going after which girls, right, and
4:06
Speaker 1: you know why, because they don't have those vulnerabilities. They're
4:08
Speaker 1: not going to give you a massage for two hundred bucks.
4:11
Speaker 1: And furthermore, if they go to the police, the police
4:14
Speaker 1: would probably listen. When you have a girl from Palm Beach, Well,
4:18
Speaker 1: we all know the result. I thought, maybe nothing wrong
4:22
Speaker 1: really happened here. Maybe it's just my reaction that is wrong,
4:25
Speaker 1: she says. Maybe it's my Russian upbringing, maybe it's how
4:28
Speaker 1: strict my parents were, but there's something off with me
4:31
Speaker 1: and not with him. It was only when the Epstein
4:35
Speaker 1: files were released that Anya says she realized what had
4:38
Speaker 1: really happened. Email showed up that despite her face to
4:41
Speaker 1: face meeting with face Kates, the agency founder had in
4:44
Speaker 1: fact rejected her a year earlier. Anya says she realized
4:49
Speaker 1: she had been strung along for months by Epstein and
4:51
Speaker 1: set up to fill in a very elaborate grooming. Then
4:55
Speaker 1: when she was vulnerable, isolated, and far from home, Epstein
4:58
Speaker 1: had struck and Faith Kates she played her part, not
5:03
Speaker 1: just in this case either. How many girls and women
5:07
Speaker 1: were led to the belly of the beast, That's the
5:10
Speaker 1: real question. And until we get close to the answer,
5:13
Speaker 1: me and my big fat yap are gonna keep moving.
5:20
Speaker 1: The type of slow, steady grooming Anya describes is designed
5:24
Speaker 1: to avoid triggering the target's sense of danger, like stealth
5:27
Speaker 1: bombers are designed to just go under the radar, says
5:31
Speaker 1: the psychologist Quinn Cirillo. Faith Kate's lawyer told us in
5:34
Speaker 1: a statement that any claim or client had any knowledge
5:37
Speaker 1: or involvement in Epstein's purported trafficking is false and defamatory.
5:42
Speaker 1: Suggesting Epstein would relay the agency's decision to Anya was unusual,
5:46
Speaker 1: false and uncorroborated. The lawyer added, so it's the survivor
5:50
Speaker 1: who's a liar again, Huh, everybody's a liar, but Epstein's friends.
5:55
Speaker 1: Enough is enough. You're not going to scare people talking
5:59
Speaker 1: about that's defamatory. Bro, it's in the emails. Do you
6:04
Speaker 1: really think a jury of twelve people would take a
6:07
Speaker 1: look at that and say, oh, you're being defamed. No,
6:10
Speaker 1: what are you doing? Why do you have this relationship
6:13
Speaker 1: with Epstein? And how many other girls did you bring in?
6:16
Speaker 1: And all these people that talk about, oh, it's defamatory
6:19
Speaker 1: and this and that, they don't soon nobody do they?
6:22
Speaker 1: And you know why. There's this little thing called discovery
6:26
Speaker 1: and they don't want anything to do with it. The
6:31
Speaker 1: agency met its own decisions about which models to take
6:34
Speaker 1: on and did not see Gapstein's approval for such decisions,
6:38
Speaker 1: the statement continued, adding, obviously, there is nothing unusual about
6:42
Speaker 1: a potential model being considered and rejected from a modeling agency,
6:46
Speaker 1: even more than once. Oh that's all, it was no
6:49
Speaker 1: big deal. Come on, guys, Faith Kates hell of a woman.
6:53
Speaker 1: Ignore those emails though, Ignore the fact that her and
6:56
Speaker 1: uncle Jeffy were so so close. Ignore all of that,
7:00
Speaker 1: and just listen to what they're telling you because you
7:03
Speaker 1: know trust me. Bro Next Management said in a statement
7:10
Speaker 1: that the company had no relationship with Epstein, and Kate's
7:12
Speaker 1: alleged actions had been hers alone. Wasn't us, We had
7:16
Speaker 1: nothing to do with it. It was just the president
7:18
Speaker 1: of the company. Buh what. Epstein continued to hold out
7:23
Speaker 1: the prospect of modeling work to Anya, introducing her to
7:26
Speaker 1: Jean lu Brunell, founder of the MC squared agency. Epstein
7:30
Speaker 1: did not tell her he was one of the company's
7:32
Speaker 1: financial backers. MC two is closed down in it's Miami
7:36
Speaker 1: and New York offices, and the founder of its remaining
7:39
Speaker 1: branch in Israel has previously said he had no relationship
7:43
Speaker 1: with Epstein. Okay, sure, anybody who works at MC squared,
7:49
Speaker 1: what are you doing? Plenty of other places to work.
7:53
Speaker 1: Almost zero jobs came from the agency, she says. Instead,
7:57
Speaker 1: her agent would tell her she was going to Palm
7:59
Speaker 1: Beach for a booking. Anya says, but there was no
8:03
Speaker 1: modeling job, just more abuse from Epstein. Nobody's been traffic
8:07
Speaker 1: here of folks. Dupa, dupa, durpu. Have you seen the
8:11
Speaker 1: fraud files? A bunch of fucking unserious clowns. After a while,
8:18
Speaker 1: Epstein told her modeling was not working out for her
8:21
Speaker 1: and that the industry was dead. Anya recalls him saying,
8:24
Speaker 1: come work for me. I'll teach you a real business.
8:27
Speaker 1: You'll travel, you'll meet important people all over the world,
8:32
Speaker 1: and you'll get molested and abused and raped, and I'll
8:35
Speaker 1: do whatever I want to you. Sounds like a gray
8:37
Speaker 1: trade off, said nobody. Ever, But work as Epstein's assistant
8:42
Speaker 1: was not what Anya imagined. She says Epstein taught her
8:45
Speaker 1: nothing about business. Instead, she says she would largely sit
8:49
Speaker 1: around waiting for Epstein to give her something to do,
8:52
Speaker 1: while Epstein berated her for sitting around doing nothing. Sometimes
8:57
Speaker 1: he would give her a menial task to do, answer
8:59
Speaker 1: the phone, someone to a meeting room, or announce a guest. Nevertheless,
9:04
Speaker 1: the assistant were on call twenty four to seven, Anya says.
9:07
Speaker 1: One time. Anya says she popped out for lunch to
9:10
Speaker 1: meet someone and Epstein went crazy, repeatedly calling her and
9:14
Speaker 1: insisting she can never leave the house without his permission. Well,
9:18
Speaker 1: they were indentured slaves. Anya was completely dependent on Epstein.
9:24
Speaker 1: If she got sick and needed health care, she says,
9:27
Speaker 1: he would tell her, I'm your medical insurance. She didn't
9:30
Speaker 1: have a bank account or correct documentation to rent her
9:33
Speaker 1: own home. But she says Epstein kicked her out of
9:36
Speaker 1: the Manhattan apartment a few times, telling her figure out
9:39
Speaker 1: where you're staying. These were strong mechanisms of control. She says,
9:44
Speaker 1: that's a fact. And I know there's people out there
9:47
Speaker 1: that'll say, well, why doesn't she just stand on her own.
9:50
Speaker 1: We're talking about a woman from Russia who Jeffrey Epstein
9:54
Speaker 1: brought over here, who knows nobody, can't work, can't do
9:57
Speaker 1: anything really, And is that the bees of a sick
10:01
Speaker 1: monster like Jeffrey Epstein, And you find fault with a
10:03
Speaker 1: woman like I don't get it, bro. Honestly, you got
10:07
Speaker 1: all these dudes out here talking to all this nonsense
10:09
Speaker 1: about how they're so manly and this and that. Well,
10:12
Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. Any man that doesn't look at
10:15
Speaker 1: this situation and doesn't want to serve up three piece
10:18
Speaker 1: combos to everybody involved is not a man. I'm sorry,
10:23
Speaker 1: but you're not. Now that doesn't mean you have to
10:25
Speaker 1: believe all women, because I certainly don't do that. But
10:29
Speaker 1: when there's documented a proof of what went on, and
10:32
Speaker 1: you try and downplay it, and you try and make
10:34
Speaker 1: it out to be something that's not over politics. That's
10:37
Speaker 1: when we got a problem, and that's when your bitch
10:40
Speaker 1: ass gets your man card pulled. Because there's no man
10:44
Speaker 1: on this planet who's worth his weight that would ever
10:47
Speaker 1: be okay with this happening to people he loved, So
10:50
Speaker 1: why the fuck would you be okay with that happening
10:52
Speaker 1: to anybody? Epstein only started paying Onya a small salary
10:57
Speaker 1: years later because her visa required it. She says he
11:00
Speaker 1: would often say, don't worry, I'll always support you. The
11:04
Speaker 1: sexual abuse continued frequently throughout this period. Anya says, Sarah
11:09
Speaker 1: Kelln painted a similar picture to US lawmakers. I had
11:12
Speaker 1: no money, no family, no education, and no sense that
11:15
Speaker 1: I deserved any better. She did have family. We've heard
11:19
Speaker 1: from her parents already. She is in a different situation
11:23
Speaker 1: than Anya. Is she in a different country? Does she
11:25
Speaker 1: not speak the language? Does she have visa concerns? A word?
11:29
Speaker 1: None of that? Oh? Okay? Cool? Meanwhile, Ebstein shut off
11:33
Speaker 1: his power and connections to her. Jeffrey made certain I
11:37
Speaker 1: knew that defying them would cost me my life. She says. Now, look,
11:40
Speaker 1: I don't doubt that, okay, and I don't want to
11:43
Speaker 1: come off as crass here and somebody that has no
11:45
Speaker 1: empathy for Sarah Kelln Vickers. I do. But empathy is
11:49
Speaker 1: not enough. You have to be accountable, responsible for the
11:53
Speaker 1: shit you do, the same way the rest of us do.
11:56
Speaker 1: Like if I go out and do something, say I
11:58
Speaker 1: drive too fast, Well, I'm accountable to the law. Right
12:01
Speaker 1: I get a ticket, I gotta pay it. All these
12:04
Speaker 1: people though, there's never been any accountability. But now you
12:07
Speaker 1: want to skip that part and just become the victim.
12:10
Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. I'll call you a victim after
12:13
Speaker 1: you take responsibility for what you did. Let's start there.
12:19
Speaker 1: On one occasion, an assistant ran away, Anya recalls. Anya
12:24
Speaker 1: says the woman had called her during her escape, leaving
12:27
Speaker 1: Anya fearful that Epstein would find out that they'd been
12:30
Speaker 1: in contact, as she owned their phones and he monitored
12:33
Speaker 1: their calls. Epstein hired a private investigator to trace the
12:37
Speaker 1: missing assistant, Anya says. She says he showed her an
12:41
Speaker 1: email detailing the expenses he calculated the missing woman owed
12:45
Speaker 1: him a total of seven hundred thousand dollars. Anya says
12:49
Speaker 1: she got the message loud and clear, if you leave,
12:52
Speaker 1: you'll owe me money, and I will hunt you down
12:55
Speaker 1: to get it back. That tracks too. This man was
13:01
Speaker 1: running a human trafficking empire, and not your traditional human
13:05
Speaker 1: trafficking empire, one that fed his own desires and the
13:09
Speaker 1: select few. Okay, that's what it was. And the sooner
13:13
Speaker 1: people hit themselves to that, the better we're going to be.
13:16
Speaker 1: This was not the only thing Epstein held over the woman.
13:19
Speaker 1: He also gathered compromising material, Anya says, and you would
13:23
Speaker 1: casually remind her that he had naked pictures of her.
13:25
Speaker 1: What did I say earlier? That's what he does. That's
13:28
Speaker 1: what he's always done. And if anybody thinks that wasn't happening,
13:33
Speaker 1: they are crazy, friend, enemy, anybody in between. Because Epstein
13:38
Speaker 1: was always looking to have the one up right, always
13:42
Speaker 1: needed to have something over somebody, had to have leverage,
13:46
Speaker 1: and boy was he good at it. On one occasion,
13:51
Speaker 1: she says, he gathered his assistance for a photoshoot. Epstein
13:54
Speaker 1: encouraged them to go topless and dance, joyfully, insisting it
13:57
Speaker 1: was filmed. Anya recalls, he said, this way, I know
14:00
Speaker 1: you'll never go against me, suggesting that it would be
14:03
Speaker 1: hard for them to argue they were not consenting if
14:05
Speaker 1: he showed the video. That's his library of evidence, she says,
14:09
Speaker 1: And all of this is because of the first prosecution
14:12
Speaker 1: down in Florida. Epstein and his legal team they came
14:15
Speaker 1: up with a plan to stop going after high school
14:17
Speaker 1: girls and to start going after vulnerable girls from Russia
14:21
Speaker 1: and other countries. So I have a question about Alan
14:25
Speaker 1: Dershowitz's role in that strategy. Did he have anything to
14:28
Speaker 1: do with it, Who came up with it, Who guided
14:31
Speaker 1: Epstein's hand, who told them to switch it up. The
14:36
Speaker 1: financier also made his assistants write of emails, which they
14:39
Speaker 1: called gratitude letters, gushingly thanking their abuser. I was so
14:43
Speaker 1: terrified of not saying thank you enough to them, Anya says.
14:47
Speaker 1: I think partially maybe those gratitude letters, or another mechanism
14:51
Speaker 1: of him saying, how can you go against me if
14:54
Speaker 1: you're thanking me all the time. Epstein would also pit
14:57
Speaker 1: the assistance against each other. Anya says, let slip that
15:00
Speaker 1: another woman was mad at her for being useless and
15:04
Speaker 1: so lazy, but he would say he was advocating for
15:07
Speaker 1: you as your biggest supporter. She says. In this way,
15:10
Speaker 1: he prevented the woman from forming real relationships. With each other,
15:14
Speaker 1: making them easier to control, kind of like a harem.
15:17
Speaker 1: I hate to say that, but that's what it's like, right,
15:19
Speaker 1: And like in the old Ottoman Empire, you would have
15:23
Speaker 1: all the concubines at war with each other. Basically, you know,
15:27
Speaker 1: everybody was scheming and conniving, so nobody made relationships, and
15:31
Speaker 1: everybody was, you know, basically at each other's throats. And
15:35
Speaker 1: that was the kind of environment that Epstein was trying
15:37
Speaker 1: to foster. He didn't want these women to be friendly.
15:40
Speaker 1: He wanted them to be obedient. As Anya talks to us,
15:46
Speaker 1: she lifts up her top to reveal several scars across
15:49
Speaker 1: her stomach. Then she shows us old modeling photos where
15:53
Speaker 1: she had a small tattoo dating back to when she
15:55
Speaker 1: was a teenager. Epstein wanted her to remove it, and
15:58
Speaker 1: a doctor came to his house, she recalls, but he
16:01
Speaker 1: did not want her to have later treatment because it
16:04
Speaker 1: would take too long, so he suggested the doctor cut
16:07
Speaker 1: the tattooed skin off. Only I could come up with that,
16:10
Speaker 1: she recalls him, saying, Yo, what what the fuck does
16:14
Speaker 1: that mean? Cut the skin off? What do you leather face? Bro?
16:20
Speaker 1: She says, she had the surgery which left scars. A
16:23
Speaker 1: year later, he insisted that it was done again because
16:27
Speaker 1: he did not like the results. The most shameful part
16:30
Speaker 1: of her time with Epstein was having to recruit other women.
16:33
Speaker 1: Anya says, her eyes welling up with tears. Each assistant
16:37
Speaker 1: had to bring in at least one other assistant, she says,
16:40
Speaker 1: and Epstein told them to recruit young women like her.
16:43
Speaker 1: It's one or ten, Like, you're already complicit BINGO. If
16:48
Speaker 1: I get you involved with my crimes, then you're not
16:50
Speaker 1: gonna go to the police, right, you're part of it.
16:53
Speaker 1: Oh if you go, we're all going down, etcetera, etcetera.
16:58
Speaker 1: Anya says she wanted to speak out now to help
17:00
Speaker 1: people understand how women became trapped by Epstein and to
17:03
Speaker 1: explain how his operation had trafficked to adults like her
17:07
Speaker 1: as well as children. Yo, that's something I've been telling
17:09
Speaker 1: you for a long time. Grown asks. Women can be trafficked,
17:13
Speaker 1: they can be abused, and we should have empathy for that. Now,
17:18
Speaker 1: that doesn't mean everybody that comes out and says they
17:20
Speaker 1: were abused or traffic by Epstein is telling the truth.
17:23
Speaker 1: We have to use some discernment. But I think when
17:26
Speaker 1: you have the documentation and the contemporaneous emails and things
17:30
Speaker 1: line up. Well, it just is what it is. And
17:33
Speaker 1: people can deny the evidence all they want, but at
17:35
Speaker 1: this point they're just telling on themselves. He built this
17:39
Speaker 1: whole ecosystem of abuse that was serving them, she says.
17:42
Speaker 1: When you have people like Bill Gates come to his
17:44
Speaker 1: house for dinner and shake his hand, you think, who
17:47
Speaker 1: am I to question it? Who am I to speak
17:49
Speaker 1: up there? It legitimized the abuse. Both Anya and Sarah
17:53
Speaker 1: Kellen have subsequently received compensation from the Epstein Victims Compensation Fund,
17:58
Speaker 1: which was established to provide financial relief to survivors and
18:03
Speaker 1: involve sharing corroborating evidence of their abuse. When he was alive,
18:07
Speaker 1: I didn't speak to a single person about this, Anya says.
18:10
Speaker 1: She now hopes that her voice can help just one
18:13
Speaker 1: woman escape an abusive relationship. I'm not in any way special,
18:17
Speaker 1: she says. I just somehow managed to find the strength
18:20
Speaker 1: in me to preserve and to survive. If I can
18:23
Speaker 1: do it, you can do it. I think that's a
18:26
Speaker 1: powerful message. Short to the point, but powerful. And Look,
18:32
Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and tell anybody how
18:34
Speaker 1: to live their life or what they should do. But
18:36
Speaker 1: if you're in a situation where somebody's abusing you, putting
18:40
Speaker 1: their hands on you, hurting you, it's only going to
18:43
Speaker 1: accelerate and eventually it's going to get to a point
18:47
Speaker 1: where there's no coming back. And look, I know it's
18:50
Speaker 1: not easy. I know it's not an easy thing to
18:52
Speaker 1: do to reach out to people, become vulnerable and tell
18:56
Speaker 1: people what's going on. But if you're in that position
18:59
Speaker 1: and so somebody is hurting you, I really hope that
19:02
Speaker 1: you reach out and get the support you need because
19:05
Speaker 1: it doesn't end well. Unfortunately, it just doesn't end well.
19:08
Speaker 1: And so if a message like Anya's can keep somebody
19:11
Speaker 1: out of the grips of somebody like Epstein, so much
19:15
Speaker 1: the better. And like I've always told you, if you
19:17
Speaker 1: want to know the real story about Jeffrey Epstein, if
19:20
Speaker 1: you want to know who was there, if you want
19:21
Speaker 1: to know what was happening, if you want to know
19:23
Speaker 1: who was involved in the abuse, then you should be
19:26
Speaker 1: listening very carefully to what people like Anya say. And
19:30
Speaker 1: then just remember that there's over a thousand girls and
19:33
Speaker 1: women just like Anya. So the next time that Todd
19:37
Speaker 1: Blanche and the DOJ tell you that there's no actionable intelligence,
19:41
Speaker 1: that there's no investigations to be had. I want you
19:44
Speaker 1: to think about Anya and the countless other women with
19:47
Speaker 1: no names. All the information that goes with this episode
