Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: You know the thing that you're thinking about, but you're
- 0:04Speaker 1: too polite to say, we got you. Are you calling
- 0:08Speaker 1: a cootie queen dying on the hill of controversial opinion
- 0:14Speaker 1: so you don't have to pen? This is sorry, not
- 0:20Speaker 1: sorry on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 0:23Speaker 2: What are you sorry? I'm not sorry about Angie.
- 0:25Speaker 3: If everything is a red flag, then nothing is a
- 0:29Speaker 3: red flag.
- 0:30Speaker 4: I'm very tired of people just.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Lucy Goosey throwing around the term, well that's a red flag.
- 0:36Speaker 4: That's not everything is a red flag.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Maybe it's just something you don't like, and that's okay.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Maybe it's just something that you're not into. But not
- 0:44Speaker 3: everything is a red flag. Red flag, he screams in
- 0:48Speaker 3: your face when you ask him something that he doesn't like,
- 0:52Speaker 3: that's a red flag. It is not a red flag.
- 0:54Speaker 3: To wear socks with sandals. It is gross, it gives
- 0:57Speaker 3: the ick, but it is not a red flag. I
- 1:01Speaker 3: feel like people have been using red flag so Lucy
- 1:04Speaker 3: Goosey lately that it's like, well, then is.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Anything a green flag? Is anything a beige flag?
- 1:11Speaker 5: Like?
- 1:12Speaker 4: Not a checkered flag means he has a spotty pass?
- 1:17Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I thought it was an hundred reference.
- 1:21Speaker 3: But yes, I just feel like people use everything as
- 1:23Speaker 3: a red flag when really it just means that they're
- 1:26Speaker 3: not your cup of tea.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Especially in dating.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Some things objectively are a red flag. If he tries
- 1:33Speaker 3: to control every single thing you do, that's a red flag.
- 1:37Speaker 6: But if you can, that would be a reason to
- 1:38Speaker 6: put your hands up and be like, what is going on?
- 1:40Speaker 4: But if you.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Guys just have a difference in like I'm a night
- 1:44Speaker 3: owl and I'm an early bird, Like, that's not a
- 1:48Speaker 3: red flag.
- 1:48Speaker 4: It's not a red flag.
- 1:49Speaker 3: If a man doesn't fit every single criteria and vice versa,
- 1:54Speaker 3: it is not a red flag.
- 1:55Speaker 4: If a woman doesn't.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Fit every single criteria that you know the dude is
- 1:59Speaker 3: looking for. Sometimes you're just not compatible and that's okay.
- 2:03Speaker 3: But to call everything a red flag, now nothing's a
- 2:06Speaker 3: red flag when admittedly there are some red flags.
- 2:10Speaker 6: So you want less of red flag talk until it's
- 2:14Speaker 6: a real genuine red fie.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yeah, call things icky that wait where you need to
- 2:19Speaker 3: get behind.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Okay, celebrating life's little victories every morning we practice gratitude
- 2:28Speaker 1: on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 2:30Speaker 7: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 2:32Speaker 7: basket job busted out when it was someone's acting hard.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Sare your little victories with us at seven oh one, two,
- 2:39Speaker 1: eight oh one ninety eight.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Seven kids, I also needed to win that day, all right, Angie,
- 2:46Speaker 2: do you have a little victory for us here today?
- 2:48Speaker 3: I sure do. Yesterday I finally finished head Lasso the
- 2:55Speaker 3: original three seasons, wait.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Hady, Yes, and I had been just barreling through it.
- 3:03Speaker 3: And yesterday we finally watched the final episode. Obviously, if
- 3:08Speaker 3: I had to count how many times I cried in
- 3:12Speaker 3: this run of three seasons, it was a every episode
- 3:17Speaker 3: b multiple times. Yeah, but not Cassette, sometimes Cassade sometimes
- 3:22Speaker 3: so happy. It's a really emotional show. It's really lovely.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Ten out of ten recommend So today we'll check out
- 3:29Speaker 3: the first episode of the new season.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Yeah, but I'm excited. I'm excited.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I feel like I'm a better person for having watched it.
- 3:38Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a lot of life lessons in the Yes show,
- 3:41Speaker 6: and there is something about having a character to cheer
- 3:45Speaker 6: for and to root on.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 6: That really is just a genuinely nice I know he's
- 3:51Speaker 6: like a fake character, but a genuinely nice guy. And
- 3:55Speaker 6: that's what I love the most about Ted is you
- 3:57Speaker 6: really want to see him and whoever he's involved with,
- 4:00Speaker 6: ye do well and succeed and the team play well
- 4:03Speaker 6: and YadA, YadA YadA.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I told Mikey this yesterday that it means the world
- 4:08Speaker 3: to me, am I minister crying. It means the world
- 4:10Speaker 3: to me to see like the good inhumanity, even if
- 4:15Speaker 3: it has.
- 4:15Speaker 4: To be through a fictional show.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Right So, if you're not checking out Ted, check it out.
- 4:21Speaker 6: The new season underway right now. The only thing that
- 4:23Speaker 6: stinks is if you sprint through the first three seasons
- 4:25Speaker 6: like Angie, you now have to wait till Wednesdays to
- 4:28Speaker 6: watch each episode one. Yeah, my little victory. So yesterday afternoon,
- 4:35Speaker 6: my twenty five day old daughter was he twenty five
- 4:38Speaker 6: days old today, but yesterday my twenty four day old
- 4:40Speaker 6: daughter had by far the most fussy, kind of whiny
- 4:47Speaker 6: day she had ever had. She had an afternoon where
- 4:51Speaker 6: all was well. Corey and I, my wife, took her
- 4:54Speaker 6: and the dog on the walk in the afternoon, and
- 4:57Speaker 6: when we got home it was just like all, you know,
- 5:00Speaker 6: broke loose. She was just fussy and crying, and you know,
- 5:03Speaker 6: she'd sleep for like forty five minutes here there, maybe
- 5:06Speaker 6: even an hour, but not her normal you know, two
- 5:09Speaker 6: and a half hour naps that were used to and
- 5:11Speaker 6: so we were thinking, well, maybe she's going through a
- 5:13Speaker 6: girl spurt.
- 5:14Speaker 2: We'll just kind of get through this.
- 5:15Speaker 6: And uh so we had a day of just a fussy,
- 5:18Speaker 6: fussy baby and she was up till like nine PM,
- 5:21Speaker 6: just awake, just enjoying her life or hating it. Yeah,
- 5:25Speaker 6: and what we did we got her calm down. She
- 5:27Speaker 6: slept until from like nine to nine thirty to eleven and.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Then okay, that's not bad, that's better.
- 5:33Speaker 2: She woke up at eleven PM.
- 5:36Speaker 6: I changed her, Corey fed her, and she kind of
- 5:39Speaker 6: was whinding a little bit. I rocked her for about
- 5:41Speaker 6: twenty five seconds in my arms and she kind of
- 5:45Speaker 6: just like closed her eyes, and I said, all right,
- 5:46Speaker 6: we're gonna set you down while we got to quiet, okay,
- 5:49Speaker 6: and try to make this last another hour and a half.
- 5:51Speaker 6: We'll just hour and a half chunk this set of time.
- 5:53Speaker 6: But my daughter slept from about eleven fifteen to My
- 5:56Speaker 6: wife texted me at about five thirty saying she just
- 5:59Speaker 6: finally now woke her up. So she slept for about
- 6:02Speaker 6: five an hour or sixish hours, I.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Think stretched, Yeah, what what?
- 6:06Speaker 6: Corey texted me this morning and said, I don't know
- 6:09Speaker 6: what to do with all of the sleep I got.
- 6:11Speaker 4: That's a name.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I don't just enjoy it because we don't know and
- 6:15Speaker 2: it will happen again.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Let me tell you about the best victory you ever
- 6:18Speaker 3: e ever.
- 6:20Speaker 6: I woke up and you know, went and got ready
- 6:23Speaker 6: for the morning, and as I was getting ready to leave,
- 6:25Speaker 6: Corey was like, she has not woken up since you
- 6:28Speaker 6: kind of rocked her to sleep last night. I was like,
- 6:30Speaker 6: oh really, because you know, you never know if she
- 6:32Speaker 6: wakes up and Corey just takes her real quick to
- 6:34Speaker 6: a different room to let me sleep or something. But
- 6:37Speaker 6: she is just now sleeping about six sish or so
- 6:40Speaker 6: hours for twenty five day old baby. We'll take that.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's yeah, probably tired from a grocery
- 6:46Speaker 2: you know what.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I think that deserves a hell.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, here we go.
- 6:50Speaker 6: If you ever have a little victory, by the way,
- 6:52Speaker 6: let us know about it. At seven oh one two
- 6:54Speaker 6: eight zero one nine eight seven. It puts a little
- 6:56Speaker 6: I want to pep in your step. I'd say, to
- 6:59Speaker 6: share something positive in your life to start your day.
- 7:10Speaker 6: There is a tiny chance you saw this story, and
- 7:12Speaker 6: by tiny, I mean it was everywhere last week when
- 7:15Speaker 6: this happened. But Dominique Dylan is a Memphis news anchor
- 7:20Speaker 6: and she fell asleep live on the air. There was
- 7:23Speaker 6: someone out doing a report, you know, out on the scene,
- 7:26Speaker 6: and they threw it back to her in the studio
- 7:28Speaker 6: and there she is just sleeping.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Away live on air. It's pretty crazy.
- 7:34Speaker 6: You know, when you watch TV, they have the person
- 7:36Speaker 6: who's like out on the scene, it's like the split screen.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Of course, they go to the split screen to cut
- 7:41Speaker 6: it back to the studio and this woman sadly had
- 7:44Speaker 6: fallen asleep. Now there is a reason, I'd say a
- 7:48Speaker 6: lot of people would say justifiably why she fell asleep
- 7:52Speaker 6: on the air. And there were a gajillion parents who
- 7:55Speaker 6: immediately came to her defense. And here is what happened,
- 7:59Speaker 6: and you know why the nap ensued while she was
- 8:02Speaker 6: live on the air.
- 8:02Speaker 7: Okay, So the night before my husband he worked at
- 8:05Speaker 7: double at BNSF Railway. I have a two year old,
- 8:08Speaker 7: I have an eight month old, and I was trying
- 8:12Speaker 7: to get them down to sleep at eight o'clock. But
- 8:14Speaker 7: my eight month old, she wasn't having its teething.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, she was teething.
- 8:19Speaker 7: She was teething, and I just couldn't console her. I
- 8:22Speaker 7: gave her some teething medicine and nothing was working.
- 8:26Speaker 6: It turns out this two year old and this eight
- 8:28Speaker 6: month old just kept mom awake pretty late, and she
- 8:32Speaker 6: wakes up at about one thirty in the morning. So
- 8:35Speaker 6: eight pm is crazy late for her. And then if
- 8:38Speaker 6: they're not going to sleep at eight pm, it's even
- 8:41Speaker 6: worse or she gets even less sleep.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so that makes sense.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I mean, I know even I don't think you'll fall asleep,
- 8:48Speaker 3: but yeah, you're a new dad.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I'm just built different.
- 8:52Speaker 3: There's not But there's no way that you're getting an
- 8:55Speaker 3: appropriate amount of sleep these days.
- 8:58Speaker 6: No, last night might have been the first first time
- 9:00Speaker 6: we were Yeah, we had about six hours or so,
- 9:03Speaker 6: which I know Corey when she woke up today was like,
- 9:05Speaker 6: I don't even know what to do. Yeah, she'd feel
- 9:07Speaker 6: like a home news part so rested. What do I
- 9:09Speaker 6: do with all this extra sleep?
- 9:11Speaker 3: If you're gonna fall asleep at work, that's a good
- 9:14Speaker 3: reason why, because I feel like there are other people
- 9:17Speaker 3: who've fallen asleep at work.
- 9:19Speaker 4: And then what was your excuse?
- 9:21Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, And there were a ton of people on
- 9:23Speaker 6: social media and Twitter or x or whatever you want
- 9:26Speaker 6: to call it who immediately came to her defense.
- 9:29Speaker 2: And now I have about a one month old now.
- 9:32Speaker 6: Thankfully, the way Corey and I have kind of worked
- 9:34Speaker 6: it out is, you know, I kind of sort of
- 9:37Speaker 6: have the afternoon shift so Corey can get as much
- 9:40Speaker 6: napping or not napping if she doesn't need it as possible.
- 9:43Speaker 6: I'll kind of do this shift between like nine and eleven,
- 9:46Speaker 6: or at least I try to, and then Corey will
- 9:49Speaker 6: kind of take over after that and thankfully let me
- 9:51Speaker 6: sleep as long as possible.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Do we always get the most amount of sleep? No?
- 9:55Speaker 2: Does this kid wake us both up?
- 9:57Speaker 6: Of course she does, but you know, we try our
- 9:59Speaker 6: best to help each other out in that way.
- 10:01Speaker 2: But it did get us thinking.
- 10:03Speaker 6: You might not necessarily have been caught sleeping live on television,
- 10:07Speaker 6: but have you been caught falling asleep at work? Let
- 10:10Speaker 6: us know it's seven oh one two eight zero one
- 10:12Speaker 6: nine eight seven, Angie, if you ever fallen asleep at work,
- 10:15Speaker 6: I think.
- 10:15Speaker 3: You'd be able to tell, based on what my job
- 10:17Speaker 3: is now, if I ever fell asleep dead air And
- 10:20Speaker 3: then I'm fired.
- 10:21Speaker 2: However, I'd have to really hold it down that morning.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Do your best Angie impression.
- 10:27Speaker 3: What would you two of you asked me a question
- 10:29Speaker 3: and I was asleep, and you wanted to answer back as.
- 10:32Speaker 6: Me, My best Angie impression would be, oh my god, Gabe,
- 10:37Speaker 6: good morning.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I gotta tell you something. I gotta tell you something
- 10:39Speaker 2: right now.
- 10:41Speaker 4: That was pretty good.
- 10:42Speaker 3: So I've never fallen asleep during radio land. But back
- 10:47Speaker 3: when I was working retail and I was in my
- 10:50Speaker 3: early twenties, when I.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Had some late nights out drinken.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I'm not even thought or superwoman.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah, so it was it was a time where we
- 10:59Speaker 3: would go to the club in business casual.
- 11:01Speaker 4: It was the twenty tenth.
- 11:03Speaker 3: We'd got to the club in business casual, stay out
- 11:05Speaker 3: till like seven in the morning, and then go home,
- 11:09Speaker 3: switch shoes and go to work. And I thought I
- 11:11Speaker 3: had this like down pat until I fell asleep in
- 11:15Speaker 3: the break room.
- 11:15Speaker 4: I went on break and then I just fell asleep.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Forever you went on break and just never I.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Never came back out.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I never got off.
- 11:23Speaker 6: The break Allison, really quickly, what about you? You ever fallen
- 11:27Speaker 6: to sleep at work?
- 11:28Speaker 7: I knodded, off at my desk for maybe ten minutes,
- 11:31Speaker 7: but apparently that was enough time for my coworker to
- 11:34Speaker 7: take a picture of me, and then they made it
- 11:36Speaker 7: the group chat photo for weeks.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Okay, all right, no, no, no, I was in the
- 11:40Speaker 3: first half. I was like, what a hater coworker. But
- 11:43Speaker 3: it was just in the group chat.
- 11:44Speaker 2: That's fine. Yeah, what happens in the group chat stays
- 11:47Speaker 2: in yeah chat.
- 11:48Speaker 6: Well, back when I was just a young, young, young
- 11:51Speaker 6: radio guy, I was twenty one, twenty two years old.
- 11:53Speaker 6: I actually used to have to work Monday to Saturday
- 11:57Speaker 6: six am, so six days a week. I was, you know,
- 11:59Speaker 6: getting up in five five point fifteen ish and you know,
- 12:02Speaker 6: schlepping on into the studio. And there was one Saturday,
- 12:06Speaker 6: after a very fun, i'm sure exciting Friday that at
- 12:10Speaker 6: twenty two year old Gabe was like, I'll be all
- 12:12Speaker 6: right tomorrow, and I got it in the studio.
- 12:14Speaker 2: All was fine.
- 12:15Speaker 6: And then at about seven thirty, for whatever reason, there
- 12:17Speaker 6: was just a long song set coming up. It was like, oh,
- 12:20Speaker 6: I got fifteen twenty minutes here, and I leaned back
- 12:23Speaker 6: and put the feet up on the desk and then
- 12:25Speaker 6: I fell asleep from seven thirty to about nine. So, boy,
- 12:29Speaker 6: were there are a lot of songs playing on that
- 12:30Speaker 6: Saturday morning?
- 12:32Speaker 2: Bryce, So what about you? Man?
- 12:34Speaker 5: I accidentally dozed off during a long virtual training session
- 12:38Speaker 5: while working from home and woke up just as my
- 12:41Speaker 5: name was called, and after a very awkward silence, I
- 12:45Speaker 5: admitted I needed the question repeated. My coworkers tees me
- 12:48Speaker 5: about it for weeks, but I never skipped my morning
- 12:51Speaker 5: coffee again.
- 12:52Speaker 6: Well, your camera had to be off, yeah, one hundred percent.
- 12:55Speaker 6: I bet there's a ton of people who can relate
- 12:57Speaker 6: to fall in asleep during like yeah, you know timing.
- 13:01Speaker 3: As soon as COVID hit and most things went remote,
- 13:04Speaker 3: there was a lot of sleep in workers.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 6: Seven oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven?
- 13:09Speaker 6: Did you ever fall asleep at work?
- 13:13Speaker 2: In the world of rules?
- 13:14Speaker 1: In gray Areas, one morning show dares to ask the
- 13:17Speaker 1: hard questions.
- 13:18Speaker 2: We both know you're guilty. He's guilty. Is it legal?
- 13:22Speaker 8: You're guilty of the worst crime of all?
- 13:24Speaker 6: On Big ninety eight point seven, could you pay your
- 13:29Speaker 6: taxes entirely in pennies?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Why you do want to do that? I don't know.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Maybe you're just angry.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Because that's funny.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Maybe you're just angry, angryt uncle Sam.
- 13:38Speaker 6: Yeah, well, technically, yes, beautiful. Federal law says that US
- 13:44Speaker 6: coins and currency are legal tender for public charges and taxes.
- 13:49Speaker 6: So in theory, you could show up with a trailer
- 13:51Speaker 6: full of pennies and say, here you go government.
- 13:55Speaker 2: But there is a catch here.
- 13:56Speaker 6: In North Dakota, tax agencies don't have to sit there
- 14:00Speaker 6: and count a massive pile of loose change at the counter.
- 14:05Speaker 6: They can reject payment if the amount of coins is
- 14:07Speaker 6: considered disruptive or impractical to the process. So, yes, you
- 14:13Speaker 6: could pay in pennies, but if you show up with
- 14:16Speaker 6: two hundred thousand of them, don't be surprised if the
- 14:19Speaker 6: tax office says, how about we just use a check
- 14:24Speaker 6: kind of interesting penny rolls, Well, then it'd be easier
- 14:28Speaker 6: to count. Should it probably be more likely to accept them.
- 14:31Speaker 6: But if you're angry and you show up with a
- 14:33Speaker 6: bunch of wheelbarrows full of pennies, the chances of them
- 14:36Speaker 6: sitting there counting them are basically zero. It is kind
- 14:39Speaker 6: of crazy how few pennies we really see anymore.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I know they're trying to phase them out because obviously
- 14:45Speaker 3: they have been discontinued they're not making them.
- 14:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I shared this story a couple of minutes ago,
- 14:50Speaker 6: but if you missed it. When I go to the
- 14:51Speaker 6: gas station in the morning, or on mornings i've stop
- 14:53Speaker 6: at the gas station, I'll grab myself a Celsius or
- 14:56Speaker 6: some energy drink. It normally comes out to be about
- 14:59Speaker 6: three and fifty four cents. So instead of giving me
- 15:04Speaker 6: the forty six cents back, if I give them like
- 15:06Speaker 6: a five dollars bill, they always just give me two quarters.
- 15:09Speaker 2: They don't.
- 15:09Speaker 6: I don't even know if they have pennies in the
- 15:11Speaker 6: drawers anymore. This is a good question. If you at
- 15:14Speaker 6: a gas station or a grocery store, do you really
- 15:17Speaker 6: even deal with pennies anymore? Let us know it's seven
- 15:20Speaker 6: oh one two eight zero one to nine eight seven.
- 15:23Speaker 6: But if you were compelled to pay your taxes in pennies, technically, yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 6: you can try, but you could also get denied. So
- 15:30Speaker 6: remember that coming up next February March April tax season.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I need some good.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 15:43Speaker 1: good news on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 15:46Speaker 6: There's a pretty cool piece of NDSU history coming full
- 15:50Speaker 6: circle right here in Fargo. As NDSU has just dedicated
- 15:54Speaker 6: it's brand new Bowldy Agricultural Laboratory, which is a state
- 15:59Speaker 6: of the art facility designed to help researchers find better
- 16:02Speaker 6: solutions for North Dakota agriculture. It's named after Henry Bowlee,
- 16:07Speaker 6: one of NDSU's first faculty members and a pioneer in
- 16:10Speaker 6: plant science who spent decades helping North Dakota farmers and
- 16:14Speaker 6: NDSU's vice President of Agriculture, Greg Lardy says, this new
- 16:18Speaker 6: facility is all about finding solutions that can make a
- 16:20Speaker 6: difference for farmers and communities.
- 16:22Speaker 8: When you look at what you know, the buildings represent,
- 16:24Speaker 8: you know, one piece of what we need to do
