- 0:00Speaker 1: For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast,
- 0:05Speaker 1: get up even closer on Instagram.
- 0:07Speaker 2: YouTube, and TikTok. Or raw doggies.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Four to seven every weekday.
- 0:13Speaker 2: On Radio Hauraki.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Oh, g'day, fellas.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Hello.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 0:22Speaker 3: How are you, Jay?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Spritely, man?
- 0:24Speaker 1: No, not at all.
- 0:24Speaker 4: I was just saying. I was not happy waking up
- 0:28Speaker 4: this morning. I was effing and jeffing.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Just telling the fellas, before you got here, I woke
- 0:32Speaker 2: up at 1.45. Oh, good. That's my earliest one.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I did get a couple of snoozes in later, but
- 0:38Speaker 2: I was awake till about 4. I said, I've got
- 0:41Speaker 2: to get to sleep before the birds come. It'd be
- 0:44Speaker 2: a good movie.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You've got to get to sleep before the birds come.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Or you can.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Or just a comedy.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Of you versus a bird, like that Rowan Atkinson versus
- 0:52Speaker 3: a bee one.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Man versus bird.
- 0:55Speaker 2: There's fucking dozens of the bastards out there. I actually
- 0:58Speaker 2: burst out laughing... It was the day before some other bird.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I don't know what the fuck it is.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Just tweeting away.
- 1:05Speaker 2: The ambulance version of a bird. Right. The same volume. Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Weird as fucking thing. Unreal.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I woke up not yesterday morning, the morning before at two.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:18Speaker 1: After a shocking, shocking anxiety dream.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Which I'll tell you about off air because it's not
- 1:25Speaker 4: appropriate for on air, which I think you guys will
- 1:27Speaker 4: probably find very amusing.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Great.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Wait, so this was after dinner at my place?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yes. Great. Yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 3: So I triggered Jay somehow with what I do.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It was a shocker, man. But I woke up in
- 1:41Speaker 1: a cold sweat just going, oh, fuck. And then I went, no.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Because my normal thing is to get up in that situation.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Rip a vape.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, well, no. So I went, no, no, I'm not
- 1:52Speaker 1: doing that.
- 1:53Speaker 4: So instead I just lay in bed for about two
- 1:55Speaker 4: hours wide awake.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Oh, good one. Just running it through your head. I
- 1:59Speaker 2: was just dreaming about the Warriors.
- 2:02Speaker 1: It's tough to take, fellas.
- 2:03Speaker 3: We'll have to do a debrief on the show, I think.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you don't get much of one, though,
- 2:07Speaker 2: do you? Because you're talking a gub.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Even my wife was effing and jeffing. Was effing and jeffing.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Was she? Yeah, a little bit.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But how good Eden Park, man.
- 2:15Speaker 3: It looked great.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It was amazing.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it was pretty cool. I drove through Kingsland there
- 2:20Speaker 2: during the day. It was getting off, man. It was
- 2:23Speaker 2: so cool.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I bet.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It made me really, really happy. Yes. Just rammed. Such
- 2:27Speaker 2: a great place for it. All the bars. It's your
- 2:29Speaker 2: own little Caxton Street. Yeah, it is. It's a good
- 2:31Speaker 2: little setup. It should. Great.
- 2:33Speaker 3: But because the kind of All Blacks and stuff, they
- 2:36Speaker 3: don't really have raucous party kind of fans. So it's just,
- 2:40Speaker 3: the vibe's good during an All Blacks game. But during
- 2:42Speaker 3: that Waz game, it would have been fucking awesome.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was fizzing.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 2: It was fizzing.
- 2:46Speaker 1: God, I'm gutted I missed it.
- 2:49Speaker 3: What, Kingsland?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yeah. The fizz? Oh, yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 3: They would have loved having you there.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they were shouting out at me, where's Ody J?
- 2:57Speaker 2: He's coming, he's coming. I want to miss it, man.
- 3:01Speaker 3: He's steaming it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I think we started about Caxton Street.
- 3:04Speaker 2: No, I enjoyed the game. It was great. Disappointing result.
- 3:07Speaker 2: It's hard, it's hard. It's a long year, isn't it?
- 3:09Speaker 2: It's a long year. It's a long year.
- 3:11Speaker 3: It's a fucking long year.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It's a long year to have it end like that,
- 3:14Speaker 2: I've got to say.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I was eating leftover lasagna.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Because my coffee table folds up and you can eat
- 3:22Speaker 3: on the couch. So I was sitting on the couch
- 3:24Speaker 3: there eating leftover lasagna, drinking leftover red wine, just effing
- 3:28Speaker 3: and jeffing a wee bit. Just gutted, actually. I wasn't
- 3:30Speaker 3: even swearing. I was just gutted.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah, my daughter ran a tally of about $ 27. She
- 3:35Speaker 2: wasn't allowed to say $ 1 to me every time I swore.
- 3:38Speaker 2: She'd run a tally and she went, She said, booyah,
- 3:42Speaker 2: she said. Right. Yeah. What, who, who?
- 3:45Speaker 4: I actually, funnily enough, Mokey, I was thinking of you
- 3:48Speaker 4: when I was watching that game going, I wonder if Frankie's,
- 3:50Speaker 4: you know, getting the old money into a kitty.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Who owes you the most?
- 3:55Speaker 2: Who owes who?
- 3:56Speaker 3: Who owes you the most? Who caused the most F-bombs?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Oh.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Because for me, it's Ali Leotawa.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't notice anything from him. That's funny.
- 4:03Speaker 3: It's just that's, honestly, there was just a few. And
- 4:06Speaker 3: he almost scored that try.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 3: No, it's just defensive plays and just little dumb things defensively.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Who's the halfback? Not Tahiri Martin, the other guy?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Tamairi Martin.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Tamairi Martin, Chanel Harris-Tavita.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Yeah, he had me effing and jeffing. A couple of
- 4:24Speaker 4: crucial missed tackles. A couple of really shit kicks.
- 4:28Speaker 2: The kicking was shit. Yeah, the kicks was not good.
- 4:30Speaker 1: The kicking was shit. It was like, oh, man.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Mind you, they did say, we'll get into this in
- 4:35Speaker 4: the show, obviously. They did say before the game it
- 4:37Speaker 4: was not good conditions for kicking because it was swirling all.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Over the place.
- 4:40Speaker 3: You put it up fucking high.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's right.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That's right.
- 4:43Speaker 3: To make it hard. Put it above Greg Marju, who
- 4:45Speaker 3: sucks at taking high balls.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Oh, God. Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Good stuff.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Now that's good listening. And it's live.
- 5:01Speaker 2: What are you listening to there? Oh, me?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Oh, sorry. I was listening to the Radio Hauraki Big Show.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Four to seven weekdays.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's quite specific.
- 5:14Speaker 3: And iHeartRadio.
- 5:16Speaker 2: What? Cheers.
- 5:19Speaker 3: The Hauraki Big Show Podcast. Well, we'll talk about.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll talk about it.
- 5:23Speaker 3: But we need you guys to know that... my dishwasher
- 5:27Speaker 3: packed up after I thought I fixed it oh no
- 5:30Speaker 3: so I loaded up my.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Kitchen bench this is after come dine with the fellas
- 5:33Speaker 2: Keezy Keezy had a house full of dishes and his
- 5:36Speaker 2: dishwasher packed up it was good stuff we left him to.
- 5:38Speaker 3: It it broke straight away and like my bench this
- 5:41Speaker 3: is the most dishes I've ever had to do and
- 5:44Speaker 3: I went star and it just shat itself and I
- 5:46Speaker 3: was like fuck so I thought I fixed it started
- 5:49Speaker 3: working fucked out again I just went to bed I
- 5:50Speaker 3: was like I can't deal with this yeah good I
- 5:53Speaker 3: was dealing with the idea of hand washing a billion
- 5:55Speaker 3: things yeah But the next morning I was in the
- 5:57Speaker 3: park because I got up, had a coffee, pulled the
- 6:00Speaker 3: side off the dishwasher, managed to fix it, and then
- 6:02Speaker 3: got through all the dishes.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And it was fine.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 2: How was it?
- 6:06Speaker 3: It had overflowed due to something went in the filter
- 6:08Speaker 3: and made it overflow. And then I pulled out the
- 6:10Speaker 3: filter and cleaned it. But there's a bit underneath that
- 6:12Speaker 3: catches water. And if it senses there's a lot of
- 6:15Speaker 3: water in there, it won't turn on.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:17Speaker 3: So I pulled it out, mopped up that water, cleaned
- 6:19Speaker 3: the filter, and it was fine.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Happy days.
- 6:21Speaker 4: We– and I think you were probably similar, Mogi. Ours
- 6:24Speaker 4: took about two days to clear all the dishes.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 6:28Speaker 4: But also, like our dishwashers– got a really small capacity
- 6:33Speaker 4: is it one.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Of those draw ones yeah it's.
- 6:35Speaker 4: It's fucking annoying actually and so you can only load
- 6:37Speaker 4: it up so much um but yeah it was a
- 6:41Speaker 4: fucking pain in the ass.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Are you like my parents where you don't use the
- 6:44Speaker 3: dishwasher because you like hand washing the dishes no i've.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Got a mate who's like that i don't get it
- 6:48Speaker 2: yeah neither.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I do like i don't mind hand washing dishes but
- 6:52Speaker 4: no i'm not but.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Mom and dad will be like oh it's not enough
- 6:55Speaker 3: to Turn on the dishwasher because they've got a full-size dishwasher.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:59Speaker 3: And so I'll go around there and I'll be like, oh,
- 7:01Speaker 3: so I'll just put this in the dishwasher and I'll
- 7:02Speaker 3: open the dishwasher and, like, fucking spiderwebs are in there.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 3: And I'll put a dish in there. No, don't put
- 7:06Speaker 3: that in there. Yeah. Just put it next to the sink.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yeah, just wash it, you lazy bastard.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Maybe if it's just two of you.
- 7:13Speaker 3: They just love it. Just love mucking in.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Well, yeah, because if there is just two of you,
- 7:19Speaker 4: you're only getting a few dishes and you might as
- 7:22Speaker 4: well just bang them out.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Could you tell my missus that?
- 7:24Speaker 2: Sure. Sure.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Honestly, in lockdown, I don't think I told you guys,
- 7:28Speaker 3: but we had to have a chat about reusing the
- 7:29Speaker 3: same mug and cup.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 3: We didn't have a dishwasher and I was hand washing everything.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I was always on dishes.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And I was like, holy fuck.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Let's get a fresh one out every time.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Just without thinking.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Fresh spoon.
- 7:39Speaker 1: It's out, right? Like my daughter is so bad.
- 7:44Speaker 4: We will have, I swear to God, in one day,
- 7:48Speaker 4: 20 cups.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Should we open the show with us?
- 7:50Speaker 1: 20 cups.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah, no, Lucy's the same.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And glasses.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Shut up, Keezy.
- 7:54Speaker 4: And it's like, can you just fucking use one glass, please?
- 7:59Speaker 3: And what else does she do?
- 8:01Speaker 1: Oh, don't get me started.
- 8:03Speaker 2: No, Lucy's the same.
- 8:04Speaker 3: But she just, I've just noticed, there's so many times
- 8:06Speaker 3: I've been like, geez, how many cups you got? And
- 8:08Speaker 3: she'd be like, oh, sorry. She just doesn't notice, you know?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 3: This is obviously just what she's like. Just floats around
- 8:13Speaker 3: getting mugs out.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Divorce, man.
- 8:15Speaker 2: You reckon?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I'm thinking so.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Maybe I just, like, divorce her and then just go
- 8:23Speaker 3: move to Bali for, like, a couple of months.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I think so, man. Just say you're doing some groundwork.
- 8:28Speaker 2: You're exploring maybe moving there. Yeah. Doing a bit of groundwork.
- 8:32Speaker 2: And you're just over there just, you know. You know
- 8:34Speaker 2: what you like. Yeah. Just. Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Muck it in.
- 8:38Speaker 4: It's funny, eh, because I watch a lot of videos
- 8:40Speaker 4: of people that move to Bali, old fellas.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah, young woman.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Actually, I watched a lady talking about moving over there.
- 8:47Speaker 2: He does.
- 8:48Speaker 3: The other day on YouTube on Saturday or something, I
- 8:49Speaker 3: watched the thing about an older lady who had moved
- 8:52Speaker 3: to Bali and was talking about her overheads and how
- 8:54Speaker 3: much it costs.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:56Speaker 3: But what I didn't realise is that you build a
- 8:57Speaker 3: house there, someone owns the land, and you can only
- 9:00Speaker 3: ever lease it?
- 9:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 3: And then once the lease is up, they get to
- 9:03Speaker 3: keep the house and the land, and you can't do
- 9:05Speaker 3: anything about it.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Which is great.
- 9:07Speaker 4: There was one guy, this Aussie fella, and he was about.
- 9:11Speaker 1: 65 or something like that.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Damn it.
- 9:15Speaker 1: And he retired there, and it was in like a
- 9:18Speaker 1: hotel kind of setup.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 4: And he had a room, television, toilet, you know, bathroom,
- 9:23Speaker 4: all that sort of stuff. It was $ 30 a night,
- 9:25Speaker 4: and he lived there permanently.
- 9:27Speaker 3: In a hotel.
- 9:28Speaker 4: It was kind of a hotel, but fucking hell, he
- 9:30Speaker 4: had this like, And, you know, there was pools and
- 9:33Speaker 4: all that sort of stuff. But he had his own
- 9:35Speaker 4: little sort of balcony that overlooked this amazing.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Beautiful courtyard. And he said, I love it.
- 9:42Speaker 4: It's, you know, $ 30 a night.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I live here permanently. I know all the staff. They
- 9:47Speaker 1: look after me.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I'd hate that.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I hate hotel rooms. He was into it.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Nah, I wouldn't like that. One hotel room.
- 9:53Speaker 2: You haven't seen it.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Nah, I don't like it.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Is it a fancy hotel room?
- 9:55Speaker 1: It was really nice.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Nah.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Nah, really nice.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Nah, not really. It was really big. Really big.
- 10:02Speaker 3: It sounds, I hate big.
- 10:04Speaker 4: 30 bucks a, yeah, like 200 bucks a week.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Do you know what it reminds me of?
- 10:10Speaker 1: You could last a while doing that.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Is the odd person has been suckered into thinking they're
- 10:15Speaker 3: renting an apartment in downtown Auckland, but they're actually getting
- 10:18Speaker 3: a room in the Heritage. And it's literally like an
- 10:21Speaker 3: old hotel room.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Those shitters, yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 3: They're real shit. And a few people I know have
- 10:25Speaker 3: done that.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We're doing the Airbnb thing at the moment. And I'm
- 10:28Speaker 1: always slightly dodgy with that.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Because when we went to Vietnam, out of five places
- 10:34Speaker 4: we stayed in, or maybe six, four of them were
- 10:36Speaker 4: really good and two of.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Them were just shithouse.
- 10:39Speaker 2: This was for Aussie.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yeah, for Aussie. Booked a couple more places.
- 10:44Speaker 2: On the bright side, fellas, I'm not going to the
- 10:46Speaker 2: old grand final. We're going to have to discuss this.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I need to know what your plan is. But we'll
- 10:51Speaker 3: discuss it on air because it's interesting. Hey, listen to
- 10:54Speaker 3: The Big Show.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Or don't.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Today, 6 till 10am. Tomorrow, 4 till 7pm.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Bye.
