- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to the Inside the Birds weekly NFL preview.
- 0:13I'm Jeff Mosher. Hope everybody is doing well as we
- 0:16enter week three of the NFL season. Sure, hope you're
- 0:19all doing better than NFL quarterbacks, because as we enter
- 0:23week three, I mean, this feels like mid October already
- 0:28with all the injuries at the quarterback position. Joe Burrow out,
- 0:33JJ McCarthy out, Justin Fields out, Jade Daniels out, Block
- 0:39Party out. I mean, what is that five six of
- 0:42the you know, NFL starting quarterbacks already on the shelf
- 0:46with injuries. It doesn't sound so bad for Daniels. You'll
- 0:51obviously get replaced by Mariota for the Commanders they're playing
- 0:54the Raiders. But Joe Burrow's loss is huge. I mean
- 0:57he's going to be out for the same three months.
- 1:00You know, maybe he comes back for the last few
- 1:02weeks of the season.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Now you have to have.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Jake Browning holding the fourth down for the Cincinnati Bengals,
- 1:09and this is you know, this is bad for obviously Burrow,
- 1:12He's hurt a lot. Bad for the Bengals. They had
- 1:14high expectations. They're off to a two and no start.
- 1:17Bad for the league. I think the Bengals are gonna
- 1:20be in primetime a couple of times and instead of
- 1:22getting these great matchups of Borrow. Who's a star. Burrow
- 1:26is a star. He's an undeniable, undoubt about, no doubt
- 1:29about its star. He's a guy that people like to watch.
- 1:33They like the way he plays the game. You know,
- 1:35winner back at LSU, went to a super Bowl early
- 1:38in his career. He's catchy and for a Bengals team
- 1:41that does have catchy names, but you know, it's a
- 1:46smaller market. The league likes having Joe Burrow out there
- 1:49in primetime, and now, unfortunately for the league, for the viewers,
- 1:54for the Bengals, especially for Joe, He's gonna be on
- 1:57the show for quite a bit and we'll have to
- 1:59see if the Bengals can survive without him. The Bengals,
- 2:02you know, they've been so deficient defensively for the last
- 2:06two years that they have needed Burrow to be a
- 2:10superman and throw the ball all over the place and
- 2:13score a lot of points. When they won all those
- 2:15games at the end of last year, they were outscoring teams.
- 2:18They weren't playing better defense, they were just winning the
- 2:22offensive battle. Week after a week, and you really got
- 2:25to have a special quarterback to be able to do that.
- 2:28Speaker 2: And we'll see.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I know Jake Browning has had some success, but I
- 2:32think Zach Taylor their head coach, so I think he
- 2:34is a pretty good head coach. I think he's gonna
- 2:37have to do things differently. Maybe rely on the ground
- 2:39game more, maybe move the chains differently, ball control, try
- 2:44to keep his defense off the field, but also move
- 2:47the ball and score points. So that'll be the challenge
- 2:51for the Bengals. No challenge right now for the Bills.
- 2:54They're three to zero. Granted they haven't really played other
- 2:57than that first game against the Ravens and they open
- 3:00up the season and.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Had the great comeback.
- 3:02Speaker 1: They had two gifts against the Jets and the Dolphins
- 3:05in back to back weeks. But you know, short week
- 3:08beat the Jets, Dolphins did make it close. I was
- 3:11expecting a Dolphins team after the first two weeks. You
- 3:15heard me talk about it last week. If the Dolphins,
- 3:17I felt, if they didn't show up this week, then
- 3:20then they're in trouble.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And they are in trouble. They lost.
- 3:23Speaker 1: They did show up, but they're owing three and it's
- 3:26gonna be pretty tough for them this year. Already off
- 3:29to an zero to three start. They are just painful
- 3:33to watch. I mean, their offense two years ago was
- 3:37really nice. I mean, you had Tyreek Hill playing a
- 3:40high level, Jillen Waddle playing at a high level. The
- 3:43rookie Davon a Chan came in gave him a nice
- 3:46little dimension. They were a fun offense to watch. They
- 3:49had a lot of injuries on defense, and then last
- 3:51year they had injuries everywhere offense, defense. Hill didn't have
- 3:55a good year, and already this year, you know, they
- 3:58score eight points in the opener, they get down twelve nothing.
- 4:03I thought last week in their Sunday game against the
- 4:06Patriots Week two, I thought that that South Florida heat
- 4:10against the New England team would give them an advantage.
- 4:13They were down twelve nothing. They had to come back
- 4:15from that, and then they blew it anyway and lost
- 4:19at home thirty three to twenty seven. Then they obviously
- 4:22have short rests. They give it their best against the Bills.
- 4:25Their best is not nearly good enough. Now they're o
- 4:28win three with a third stretch. You very rarely see
- 4:31this this early in the season, but they have the
- 4:33Jets next game. They got a long rest for it,
- 4:37but they're going from Patriots to Bills to Jets if
- 4:40they don't win that game, because they have the Jets Panthers.
- 4:44Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:45Speaker 1: If the Dolphins want to salvage their season at all,
- 4:48it's over the next four weeks Jets Panthers. Then they
- 4:51got to go play the Chargers, but at least it's
- 4:53at home and then Browns. Okay, if you can't go
- 4:56three and one in that stretch, and at that point,
- 4:59that would leave with three and four and at least
- 5:02in it and viable. It's not like they have a
- 5:05very tough schedule. They got some teams that are beatable.
- 5:08But you're owing three right now. You can't beat anybody.
- 5:10Your offense stinks, your offensive line stinks, your pastor stinks,
- 5:13your defense stinks. Okay, So, Mike McDaniel, I'm sure you've
- 5:18been warned. You got an impatient owner. He liked what
- 5:21he did two years ago. Last year stunk, and now
- 5:23you're off the ow and three start. Time to turn
- 5:25it around or else you're not gonna see week seven
- 5:28a week eight. I haven't checked any of the odds,
- 5:31but I'm sure the sports books that put out the
- 5:36the prop bets, and you know who's likeliest to be
- 5:38fired first. I would have to think Mike McDaniel is
- 5:41now the leader in that clubhouse to get fired first.
- 5:44But he has a chance to turn it around. We'll
- 5:47see what they can do. All right, Let's talk about
- 5:50the one o'clock games. You got Green Bay at Cleveland
- 5:53one o'clock. The Packers are seven and a half point
- 5:57favors on the road. The Packers look legit. I mean
- 6:00they look as good as you can look after two weeks.
- 6:04Speaker 2: This will be their.
- 6:05Speaker 1: First game away from Lambeau. Love is playing well now.
- 6:08They did lose Jaden Reid. He's gonna be out for
- 6:11a long time, probably the year. He had to have
- 6:13two different surgeries. But they've got Golden Craft is a
- 6:16little banged up. We'll see if he plays. If he plays,
- 6:19he is a huge dimension to their offense.
- 6:22Speaker 2: He reminds me a little bit of Dallas Goddard where.
- 6:25Speaker 1: He doesn't have consistently these big games, but when he does,
- 6:29they're so important. Plays off contact, well, he's a really
- 6:33good tight end and you know they run the ball,
- 6:36They spread the ball around. There are times where he is,
- 6:39like last week, their top target, and when he is
- 6:42their top target, he's tough to stop. He's a really
- 6:45really good tight end, and he just gives them just
- 6:48another extra dimension. I mean they that game was close
- 6:53for the Commanders in score twenty seven eighteen, but in
- 6:57reality they dominated that game. And Craft is a really
- 7:01good player. Six for one, four and a touchdown. And
- 7:04we'll just see how they make up for Jaden Reid.
- 7:06You know again, they spread it around. You got Dubbs,
- 7:09you got the other tight end, Musgrave. We'll see Matthew
- 7:13Golden hasn't really been involved in the offense yet. He's
- 7:15a rookie. Given time, I think it'll happen. And lucky
- 7:19for them, they get to play a Browns team that
- 7:21isn't very good, doesn't have much to look forward to.
- 7:24They just got stumped by the Ravens, as you would expect.
- 7:27I thought maybe they would you give them a game
- 7:29because it's an AFC South game. Gabriel did come in
- 7:32for a little bit there at the end, completed all
- 7:34three of his passes. Is it only a matter of
- 7:37time before Dylan Gabriel becomes the quarterback? Probably it is
- 7:41probably only a matter of time Quinn Schawn Judkins had
- 7:44a I guess his first game looked pretty good.
- 7:47Speaker 2: You only had ten carries.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I mean, the Browns offense right now is it is
- 7:51what it is. It's not great. Their OWD line is
- 7:54not great. They're getting some good production from some guys
- 7:57like Harrold Fannon Junior their tight end tight end. It
- 8:01means he'll probably wind up trading David and Joku at
- 8:04some point, especially as they continue to get out of it.
- 8:08But you know, the Browns are just not a team
- 8:10that you can count on for giving you any kind
- 8:13of consistency. So you gotta like green Bay going in
- 8:16even with the big number there at seven and a half.
- 8:19Colts at Titans, you know, I feel bad for the Titans.
- 8:22You know they're trying to they're playing better. Their schedule
- 8:25has done them no favors. They had to start the
- 8:28year against the Broncos in Denver, and then they had
- 8:31to go play a very good Rams team, and then
- 8:33the Eagles fans will get to see that Rams team
- 8:35up front. And now week three, you got to play
- 8:39an Indianapolis Colts team that is unexpectedly two to oh
- 8:45and really doing it with it behind Daniel Jones and
- 8:48the running game Daniel Jones is the story of the
- 8:50Colts because they've scored sixty two points in their first
- 8:55two weeks. You know, they really put a lot of
- 8:56points on Denver. Now, they won that game. Denver gave
- 9:00them that game. There was a stupid penalty on a
- 9:03really long kick that made it a much closer kick,
- 9:05but hey, they capitalized.
- 9:07Speaker 2: They won the game. They're two and zero.
- 9:09Speaker 1: They beat Miami pretty absolutely, sambag Miami and everybody thought, well,
- 9:15that's just Miami.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Well and you beat the Denver Broncos.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Okay, Well, now you go on the road and you
- 9:19play the Titans, and the Titans are improved. They're hanging
- 9:22in there, they're fighting, but I don't think that they're
- 9:26going to be right now. You know, they got some
- 9:28offensive line issues or left tackle has been hurt. Cam
- 9:31Ward does some nice things, but there's just no consistency
- 9:35right now. With Tennessee. They played decent defense. Okay defense,
- 9:41they give up thirty three to the Rams, only twenty
- 9:43to the Broncos. But this is their chance to sort
- 9:46of make their move. I guess that to show that
- 9:49they have growth. You have a Colts team coming in there.
- 9:52It's their first AFC Central game and let's see what
- 9:57they can do. But the Colts are on fire right now.
- 9:59It's all about not only Daniel Jones, but it's about
- 10:02their running game. Taylor has been fantastic through two weeks.
- 10:06Jones is doing a good job getting the ball to
- 10:08Tyler Warren. I know Warren will see how he is.
- 10:10He was dealing with a toe injury throughout the weeks.
- 10:13Those things can be nagging, they can be pesky. They
- 10:16can put guys out for a little bit. If it's
- 10:17turf tow. I don't know what it is, but tow
- 10:19injuries are kind of difficult. But you've seen Daniel Jones
- 10:23spread the ball uh to toh Pittman to Downs. He's
- 10:28doing a nice job. I mean this, Shane Styken is
- 10:30showing you that he is still a very good play caller.
- 10:34He can still call plays and when he has a
- 10:36quarterback who you can just execute the basics for him,
- 10:40which is what Daniel Jones is doing.
- 10:41Speaker 2: In a little more.
- 10:42Speaker 1: But really the point is that Stiken just needs somebody
- 10:45who can run the offense the right way. They can
- 10:48do some things and if they win this game, it's
- 10:50gonna be really big for the Colts. They'll be three
- 10:53and oh obviously, and they'll start to generate more buzz
- 10:56and then they'll have some some games coming up.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Then they got they'll have the Rams out after that.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But again after that, Raiders Cardinals, I mean, could they
- 11:03be five and one going into Week seven against the Chargers. Yeah,
- 11:06they could be if they continue this up, but we
- 11:08got to see them over a longer period of time.
- 11:11But right now, my takeaways are Daniel Jones playing well,
- 11:14Shane Steichen's offense though is what's really coming alive, and
- 11:19Jonathan Taylor within it is still an elite back in
- 11:22the NFL. Hey, you know that one guy in the
- 11:25group chat who hit a five leg parlay a Week
- 11:28one and he wouldn't shut up about it for the
- 11:30rest of the season.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Sounds like Kaplan, right, Yeah, Yeah, it could be him.
- 11:34Speaker 3: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 11:38be you. My bookie makes it stupid easy to get
- 11:42in on the action, whether it's college ball, NFL Super Contest,
- 11:46and Survivor pools. All the spreads, player props and in
- 11:50game lines that you could want all under one roof.
- 11:55Speaker 2: What more could you want than that.
- 11:57Speaker 4: If you're new to my bookie, use our code the
- 12:02Birds THG B I RDS. The Birds use the code,
- 12:07and any bet you choose up to five hundred.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Dollars is fully covered.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Make your play and if it doesn't hit, you get
- 12:15it right back when you opt in using your bet
- 12:18back bonus token.
- 12:20Speaker 2: There is no better time to jump in right now.
- 12:23No better place to play football is back. Let's make
- 12:27some money with my bookie.
- 12:29Speaker 1: All right, Well, now we got Bengals Vikings in Minnesota.
- 12:34The Vikings are actually favored to win the game, I
- 12:37guess because the Bengals lost Burrow and they're on Jake Browning.
- 12:43But it's not any better for the Vikings. The Vikings
- 12:45are not listen. The Vikings were struggling offensively anyway. Outside
- 12:49of one quarter of football, the Vikings have not played
- 12:53very good behind JJ McCarthy. And now they're turning the
- 12:56ball over to Carson Wentz, who sets some kind kind
- 13:00of crazy quarterback record for starting for a six different
- 13:04team in six years. You know he started. His last
- 13:07year was twenty twenty with the Eagles. Then he went
- 13:10to the Colts in twenty twenty one, had a better
- 13:12year than people want to acknowledge that year, but he
- 13:15collapsed at the end and the Colts didn't make the playoffs,
- 13:18and then we all know he went to Washington the
- 13:20next year, was not very good, got hurt, lost his job,
- 13:25and then for Carson wentz. From that point on, it's
- 13:28backup city and different stops along the way. I think
- 13:32his fourth year was after the Eagles, was the Rams
- 13:37he was there for under McVeigh, and then last year
- 13:41with the Kansas City Chiefs, and he made a one
- 13:43start with them in that meaningless season finale. And now
- 13:46he's with Kevin O'Connell in the Vikings. And O'Connell is
- 13:50known for being a guy who is a quarterback guru.
- 13:53You can't say it's not working with McCarthy. I mean,
- 13:56McCarthy was hurt all last year, so it's not like
- 13:59he had a whole lot of time to groom him
- 14:00up on the field. And then of course this year
- 14:03you only get OTAs and training camp and this injury
- 14:06happens early.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm I'm not gonna look at J. J.
- 14:09Speaker 1: McCarthy's early struggles and say O'Connell is no, is not
- 14:12the guru that we think he is. But I tell
- 14:15you this is somewhat of a red flag for me
- 14:17on Carson Wentz all right, the last two years I
- 14:21just said, he spent with La Rams under McVeigh and
- 14:25the Chiefs with Andy Reid. All Right, those are two
- 14:29excellent offensive line, two guys known for bringing out the
- 14:32best in quarterbacks, and neither team wanted him back as
- 14:36their backup. It's important to have a backup quarterback in
- 14:39this league. Why did the Commanders want Mariota back? Because
- 14:43he knows the system? He played well last year. You
- 14:46want a guy who's been in your system and knows
- 14:48your offense, right, especially when you're trying to compete. Why
- 14:51did the Eagles get rid of Kenny Pickett and promote
- 14:52Tanner McKee's business third year? They felt that he was
- 14:55ready to be a backup. He played well last year
- 14:58when he got in.
- 14:59Speaker 2: It's important you like teams.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Jake Browning, we'll see this with the Bengals. The Bengals
- 15:04are probably feeling a little bit more confident than ordinarily
- 15:08because Browning has played with them, has been with them.
- 15:11Speaker 2: This is I believe this is his.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Third year with them, even though he was a journeyman before.
- 15:15That has shown some decent things. I think he completed
- 15:18seventy percent of his passes two years ago when he
- 15:20had to play seven games. So it concerns me that
- 15:26two guys who had Carson Wentz in their system, who
- 15:29are known for being quarterback guruz, if you want to
- 15:32call it, that decided that they didn't want Carson Wentz
- 15:35to be their backup.
- 15:36Speaker 2: But we'll see.
- 15:37Speaker 1: He'll be in Minnesota. He'll have you listen. We know
- 15:40he likes to throw the deep ball. He's got, Jefferson got,
- 15:43Addison Hockinson is off to a kind of a rough start.
- 15:45The offensive line's beat up, though, And the one thing
- 15:47we know about Carson Wentz is if he's under siege,
- 15:52he's not going to get out of the pass rush anymore.
- 15:54It's gonna make some bad throw It's gonna make some
- 15:55rush throws. It'll be very interesting to see how Kevin
- 15:59o'c connell manages this game and if he tries to
- 16:03shift into a ground game. But guess what, Aaron Jones
- 16:07is out with an injury, Darris on the left tackle
- 16:09all beat up, So even if he wants to be
- 16:12able to be more of a run play action team,
- 16:14will he be able to do it. I guess, you know,
- 16:17against the Bengals defense, he'll probably have an easier time
- 16:20than as opposed to if he was playing maybe the
- 16:22Lions or the Packers defense. So I suspect that Connor
- 16:25will try to do that. It'll be Jordan Mason time.
- 16:28Of course, in Minnesota. He's they acquired him for a reason.
- 16:31They've been playing him a lot anyway, and now he's
- 16:34gonna get the majority of the carries.
- 16:35Speaker 2: And with the Bengals, you know, you just gotta see Burrows.
- 16:38I'm sorry.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Browning has plenty of weapons, he doesn't have the arm
- 16:41that Burrow has. He can make accurate passes. I think
- 16:45that Zach Taylor will try to do the same thing,
- 16:47maybe lean a little more on that run game with
- 16:49Chase Brown the short passing game, and then every once
- 16:53in a while try to open it up and hit
- 16:55Higgins or Chase downfield. The offense is gonna look different,
- 16:58there's no doubt about it. But it doesn't have to
- 17:00be worse per se. All Right, Steelers at New England.
- 17:05The Steelers are one and a half point favorites on
- 17:09the road, despite the fact that they have looked downright
- 17:12terrible defensively and not great offensively, but really especially their
- 17:18running game. I mean, they beat the Jets thirty four
- 17:21to thirty two. Aaron Rodgers look good everything. Hey, maybe
- 17:24the Steelers are flying high. Then they come home where
- 17:27they are a very tough team to beat and they
- 17:30just look terrible, losing thirty one seventeen to the Seahawks.
- 17:34And here's the thing about the Steelers right now. They
- 17:37have no run game. Their defense is allowed thirty points
- 17:41or more in the last two weeks, first two weeks
- 17:43of the season. When is the last time you talked
- 17:46about the Steelers and said their defense stinks and they
- 17:49have no run game. It's been a long time, So
- 17:53I don't know that you should give them the benefit
- 17:55of the doubt. I do think that they usually figure
- 17:58out ways. Mike Tomlin is good at figuring out ways
- 18:01to correct his issues fairly quickly, so I would expect
- 18:04that they'll go to New England. I'm not counting them out.
- 18:08New England is obviously not a great team in itself.
- 18:11Speaker 2: They're one and one.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Their only win came from the Dolphins and they almost
- 18:15blew that, so this will be an interesting game. But
- 18:18I'm just shocked at the Steelers not being a good
- 18:21defensive team and have no running game. I know that
- 18:23their running game when you look at the personnel isn't
- 18:27very good because you're seeing Jalen Warren and Kenneth Game Weell.
- 18:30They drafted the kid third round, Caleb Johnson. He's perfect
- 18:34for their scheme, but he's not getting on the field,
- 18:35so he's not doing something right for the coaches to
- 18:38believe he belongs on the field, and so that's forced
- 18:41them to be one dimensional offensively. And this is not
- 18:44the year of Aaron Rodgers where you want him throw
- 18:46the ball forty times a game.
- 18:48Speaker 2: You want to be able to run.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You want to limit how many times Aaron Rodgers has
- 18:51so you can still throw. He's fine in that regard,
- 18:54but you just you don't want him to throw forty
- 18:56times a game. You want to manage the game. They
- 18:59were just awful against Seattle and he threw the ball
- 19:02thirty three times two interceptions. That's too much at this
- 19:06stage of his career. As for the Patriots, you know
- 19:10they're not playing well, but I know that some of
- 19:11their Milton Williams played well for them. Eagles fans know
- 19:14all about how good. Milton Williams is he's playing well
- 19:17for them. They got to get figure it out. It's
- 19:19gonna take very ball a little bit because he has
- 19:21so many new players. Drake May is gonna be inconsistent.
- 19:24This will be a really nice win at home if
- 19:27the if the Patriots can pull this off Rams Eagles
- 19:33one o'clock at the link, we'll cover that on inside
- 19:36the Birds pregame show myself, Adam Kaplan, Greg Cosell will
- 19:40break it down. It's a really I think it's a
- 19:43great matchup two teams that have very good defenses. The
- 19:46Rams offense is playing better than the Eagles offense right now,
- 19:49but the Eagles keep winning. So and we all know
- 19:53what the Eagles running game did to the Rams rush
- 19:56defense last year twice. Sa Kwon Barkley still hunting Sean
- 20:01McVay and Krishule in their dreams.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I'm sure Jets at Bucks.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Now, this is a game that I mean, you got
- 20:10you got Fields not playing for the Jets. He's out,
- 20:14and so they got Tarrod Taylor. Who's listen. If you're
- 20:17gonna have a backup, let it be Torod Taylor. He
- 20:19can he can run your offense. He's fine, that's not
- 20:22the issue. The issue is that Justin Fields brings a
- 20:26running element and they're trying to play You would think
- 20:30a ground and pound game with Bryce Hall with Brayalen
- 20:33Allen with Fields running the ball, and it's a little
- 20:36different with Torod Taylor back there. But hey, Torod Taylor
- 20:40is respectable. And on the other side, you know, Baker
- 20:43Mayfield credited him. He hasn't had greats that like last year.
- 20:46But they are too and zero and they are about
- 20:49as beat up as beat up can be. I'm just
- 20:52surprised at all the injuries that we have seen. I mean,
- 20:55they started off with injuries because they didn't have worfs.
- 20:58They're left tackle. They have an Godwin yet, I mean
- 21:01those guys. They're waiting for those guys to come back.
- 21:04But now they have more offensive line injuries. I mean
- 21:06they're really banged up on the old line, and they
- 21:09lost a defensive tackle, Elijah Canti, a really good player.
- 21:13First round pick for them, or I think it was
- 21:14a first round pick, yeah, a couple of years ago.
- 21:16But hey, they've beaten the Falcons, they've beaten the Texans,
- 21:20just barely. I mean, they are skating by they're averaging
- 21:22like twenty one to twenty two points a game in
- 21:25their first weeks, but they're only giving up about nineteen.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And a half.
- 21:28Speaker 1: So they've played really good defense and they should be
- 21:31able to beat this Jets team at home, especially with
- 21:35the Jets being undermanned.
- 21:37Speaker 2: It'll it'll be. It won't be easy.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Honestly, I don't think this is gonna I think because
- 21:41of the injury situation and the Bucks not being a
- 21:44full strength that they're gonna struggle a little bit to.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Move the ball.
- 21:49Speaker 1: But they should be all right. They should come out
- 21:51with a win. And I told you in the Week
- 21:53one show that they had a rookie that I really
- 21:56liked who I thought would make an immediate impact, and
- 21:58he already has with three touchdowns a Mecca Abuca has
- 22:01been great. Obviously, they're running back from last year. He's
- 22:05picked up where he left off so irving. So Mayfield
- 22:10just has to keep studying the ship and weathering the
- 22:12storm until his offensive line gets healthy. A one o'clock
- 22:17game in Landover, Maryland, Washington, will host the Raiders for
- 22:22the second time in three weeks. The Raiders have to
- 22:25fly to the East Coast for a one o'clock game. Now,
- 22:30I know you've heard me say that the statistics on
- 22:31that aren't what they used to be. That West Coast
- 22:34teams travel to the East Coast and win games much
- 22:37more commonly than they did a long time ago when
- 22:40for one o'clock games. But this is a little different.
- 22:42This is two times in three weeks, I mean, and
- 22:46with the Chargers at home sandwiched in between, and that
- 22:48was a tough loss for them. They did beat the
- 22:50Patriots twenty thirteen, and now they face a Commander's team
- 22:54that's not gonna have jayde Daniels. It'll be Marcus Mariota.
- 22:58And to me, the bigger law though for the Commanders
- 23:01in the long haul, is losing Eckler when he went
- 23:04down with the achilles, which you could see it immediately,
- 23:07non contact injury, lost his footing, couldn't get up, had
- 23:10to be helped off. You knew it was an achilles
- 23:12right away, and I think it's fair to wonder if
- 23:14he'll ever be able to play again. But with Tampa Bay,
- 23:19I'm sorry, with the Commander's offense being what it is,
- 23:23which I've said for a couple of weeks. Now, I
- 23:26like this team, but they really lack explosive playmakers.
- 23:30Speaker 2: All right, Is.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Austin Eckler an explosive playmaker? No, but he's a running
- 23:33back who can do multiple things. Can run the ball,
- 23:36he can catch the ball, he's good in space, good hands,
- 23:39he can pass.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Pro let's pick up all that. That's a big loss
- 23:44for them.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I just think that they have to rely too much
- 23:47on Jayden Daniels for offense.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Mclaurin's good. I'm not saying anything about McLaurin. He's good.
- 23:52Speaker 1: He's not justin Jefferson, here's a good player. Deebo's okay.
- 23:57He adds dimension, but they don't have anything fearful now.
- 24:00Speaker 2: In their run game. We'll see how they're rookie that
- 24:02they really like.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Bill Krossky Merritt comes along, he's gonna be a guy
- 24:07that's gonna have to be play a bigger role. Maybe
- 24:10they can get Debo and McLaurin the ball a little more,
- 24:13you know, even though Mario is a quarterback today, I
- 24:15just think that they're they're missing a little bit offensively,
- 24:19but against this Vegas team that is just not you know, obviously,
- 24:23Genti hasn't had the start that I think a lot
- 24:26of people thought myself included, he would have. Gino can
- 24:29be very good. Sometimes he can be okay. Other times
- 24:32I like Gino, but he's working with limited options here.
- 24:37And and the Raiders just have not yet found their stride,
- 24:41you know, they were They were outclassed pretty pretty big
- 24:43time against the Chargers, and now they gotta fly east again.
- 24:47So the Commander's two and a half point favorites there,
- 24:50all right, Atlanta at Carolina one o'clock at they Carolina.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Is just a man. They are a mystery to me.
- 24:58They do not look good. They are getting nothing, I
- 25:02mean nothing.
- 25:03Speaker 1: From their first round pick two years ago in Xavier
- 25:05l Get I mean, he has just been a colossal disappointment.
- 25:09They have some injuries up front. They lost their guard,
- 25:12Robert Hunt, good player, Pro Bowl guard, I think.
- 25:14Speaker 2: So.
- 25:14Speaker 1: They already got injuries on the O line. They don't
- 25:17have Bryce Young playing well. They don't have anybody offensively
- 25:20that can do anything other than Teed Totora McMillan, who is.
- 25:24Speaker 2: A volume receiver.
- 25:25Speaker 1: And they're gonna give him eight nine ten balls a game,
- 25:27and that's fine, he'll get his yards.
- 25:29Speaker 2: But who else is giving you anything? Not no one?
- 25:33Speaker 1: And so they to me, I don't care that they're home.
- 25:37You know, Atlanta is five. Atlanta is five and a
- 25:40half point favorites over the Falcon. I'm sorry over the Panthers,
- 25:45and Atlanta is the road team and they're one and one,
- 25:48and the only team Atlanta's beaten is Minnesota, who doesn't
- 25:51look like a very good team. But I don't blame
- 25:54the Alans makers. I think the Falcons will win this game.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Probably pretty easily.
- 26:00Speaker 1: And the Falcons got a pass rush last game, folks,
- 26:04that was important. I think they had six sacks if
- 26:06I'm not mistaken, which they didn't have any that I
- 26:09can recall in the first game. But in the second game,
- 26:12the defense got going. Tell you in the second how
- 26:15many sacks?
- 26:16Speaker 2: They had?
- 26:17Speaker 1: One, two, three, four, five? Yeah, six sacks. So that's
- 26:21a really big number for them. And that's the one
- 26:23element to the Viking the Falcons defense that they have
- 26:26been missing. If they can continue to get sacks and
- 26:29if they can put pressure on on Bryce Young, which
- 26:34they should be able to do, then they'll look good
- 26:36and they'll win. Houston at Jacksonville another one o'clock game.
- 26:40Jacksonville is one and a half point favorites. You know,
- 26:43Houston's been a big disappointment for me. If you heard
- 26:46me talk about them. I really love their defense, and
- 26:49I just thought they would be better offensively. Now they've
- 26:52got a lot of issues in their offensive line and
- 26:55run game.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Again.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I just can't believe this early in the season how
- 27:00much injuries are impacting a team. And the Texans had
- 27:03to redesign their offensive line because they've had some injuries there.
- 27:07It was already an offensive line they were trying to
- 27:10remake from last year. They traded tunsl they drafted Ursery,
- 27:13did a few.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Things, you know.
- 27:14Speaker 1: They brought Nick Chubb in to run the ball, mixing
- 27:17it may not play again this year, so they had
- 27:19to go get Chubb and they draft Woody Marks. I'm
- 27:21sure they'll get him more involved. But their offense is
- 27:24pathetic right now. The two receivers they drafted have not
- 27:27been able to get involved. They scored twenty eight points.
- 27:30Speaker 2: In two games.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Granted they faced some good teams in the Rams and Bucks,
- 27:34but if they don't get it going against this Jags
- 27:37team that I don't think has been impressive at all
- 27:39through two weeks, they're in trouble. You can't go lose
- 27:43this game, fall to zero to three at lose to
- 27:46Jacksonville and AFC Central Team fall behind.
- 27:50Speaker 5: There.
- 27:50Speaker 1: They are better than the Jaguars, but they're not playing
- 27:53very good and neither of the Jaguars, although I'm sure
- 27:58at one and one they feel good, but really feel
- 28:00all right. They beat the Panthers, lost to the Bengals.
- 28:04Their schedule is a little interesting because after the Texans
- 28:06they get the Niners and the Chiefs and the Seahawks
- 28:08and the Rams. So if the Niners the Jaguars want
- 28:11to have a good year, they've got to win games
- 28:13that are winnable. And right now Houston is vulnerable. But
- 28:16Houston is the better team. The Jags offense not very good.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I just think that.
- 28:23Speaker 1: As down as I am right now on Houston, I
- 28:25was high on them going into the year. I think
- 28:28with offensive line, you need continuity. You got to get
- 28:31your quarterback comfortable. I still think Stroud can fling it
- 28:34as well as anybody in the league. Just got to
- 28:36be protected. He and Nico finally connected last week. One
- 28:41of these days they got a breakout game. Maybe it'll
- 28:43be this week against the Jags. All right, let's get

- 31:16may apply. Check out the link below or in the
- 31:18show notes and support the show. It's really not a
- 31:21great slate at four o'clock games. You got the Broncos
- 31:24at Chargers. That's a good one. We'll get into that
- 31:26in a second. You know, Saint Set Seattle, Cowboys at
- 31:31Bears not not necessarily exciting, Arizona at San Francisco, So
- 31:35you got to call it an NFC West matchup in
- 31:37that one, Broncos at Chargers. Chargers are playing really well
- 31:43home two and a half point advantage. Denver's the head
- 31:46scratcher so far. I mean, they did not look good
- 31:49offensively at home in their opener against the Titans, and
- 31:54then they did not look good defensively, and that's where
- 31:56they make their money. They did not look good defensively
- 32:00in their week two.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Game against the Colts. They lost that.
- 32:05Speaker 1: So now they go on the road to face a
- 32:06Chargers team that's just playing really well. Obviously, justin Herbert
- 32:10early on, playing very well. They beat the Raiders twenty
- 32:15to nine. It was a pretty sound thumping. And you
- 32:18look at the Chargers right now. If you can beat
- 32:21the Broncos and go to three and oh, you get
- 32:23the Giants after that Commanders, that'll be a little bit tough,
- 32:27depending on Daniels's back or not, but that's at least
- 32:30at home, and then the Dolphins, So could six and
- 32:34oh be within the realm of possibility. And then week
- 32:37seven is Colts. Then you get Vikings, Titans, Steelers, Jaguars
- 32:44headed into the bye week. I don't like to look
- 32:46ahead that much after two weeks, but if you're talking
- 32:49about winnable games for the Chargers the way they're playing,
- 32:52and assuming they take care of business against the Broncos
- 32:55and go to three and oh, you got to like
- 32:57how they would at least do against the Giants the Dolphins.
- 33:02Who knows, we'll be quarterbacking the Vikings by then, But
- 33:05it is in La. So Vikings, Titans, and Jaguar. That's
- 33:10five of those seven games. You know, the Commanders are
- 33:13still tough, and I still think the Steelers in general
- 33:15are tough, but that game is in LA. But the
- 33:18schedule looks really good here for the Chargers in the
- 33:21second half. A little harder when they go Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Texans, Broncos.
- 33:25But you know they're gonna do what they do. They're
- 33:28gonna run the ball, they're gonna play great defense. And
- 33:30of Herbert, who has been banged up throughout his career.
- 33:34You know, he dealt with Planter for schitis, He's dealt
- 33:36with other leg injuries, He's dealt with a shoulder injury.
- 33:39Speaker 2: He gets beat up.
- 33:40Speaker 1: But right now he's healthy, he's playing well, he's driving
- 33:44the ball. The biggest most interesting thing about the Chargers
- 33:48right now is how much they're passing the ball. We
- 33:50all know Hardball and Greg Roman love to run the ball.
- 33:54They've drafted the rookie in the first round. Oh, maryon
- 33:56Hampton's not off to the greatest start. I think that
- 33:58will change. I do think they will run the ball.
- 34:01But Harrball is in love with If you ever hear Jim.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Harbaugh talk about Justin Herbert, he has like a man
- 34:07crush on his quarterback. So it doesn't surprise me that
- 34:11they've opened the offense up and they're letting Herbert throw
- 34:13the ball around.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I don't know if they have enough overall playmakers to
- 34:16throw it as much as they have, but when Herbert's
- 34:19playing this well, why not.
- 34:21Speaker 2: And we'll see.
- 34:22Speaker 1: We'll see against the Broncos defense that again didn't play
- 34:24well last week, but they have got some great pass rushers.
- 34:27Nick Benido is a fantastic, fantastic pass rusher. Saints at
- 34:35Seattle Seattle seven and a half point favorite. Seattle shook
- 34:39off a Week one loss and then came back and
- 34:42beat the Steelers pretty good there, so I'm not quite
- 34:45sure who they are.
- 34:47Speaker 2: That was a rough Week one.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Loss to the forty nine ers, they only scored thirteen points,
- 34:51but then they erupt for thirty one against the Steelers.
- 34:54They should beat the Saints. I mean, the Saints are
- 34:57a weird, weird team zero and two. They are throwing
- 35:01the ball everywhere. This is amazing to me. Spencer Rattler
- 35:06already has eighty pass attempts in two games, so they
- 35:10are clearly understanding of who they are.
- 35:12Speaker 2: The Saints.
- 35:13Speaker 1: They've got Rashi Yahid, they have Olave, they have Juwan Johnson.
- 35:18Their offensive line is okay. It's hard for them to
- 35:20run the ball the way they want to. With Alvin
- 35:24Kamara because he's a little bit older, so, I mean,
- 35:26he's much older now, so he probably can't handle the
- 35:30workload that he used to be able to handle. And
- 35:33you know, they're trying to figure out what they got
- 35:35in Rattler and maybe they go to Tyler Shuck at
- 35:37some point, but right now and then they're also behind.
- 35:40They're not very good defensively, so they're gonna be behind
- 35:43in games, although both of their games so far have
- 35:45been pretty close. But Kamara has only carried the ball
- 35:48thirty two times in two games. He's caught four pass
- 35:52I'm sorry, he's caught eight passes, so averages four a game.
- 35:55So he's touching the ball seventeen eighteen times a game.
- 35:59But it's it's just the high vibe. This guy used
- 36:01to get the ball. I mean in his heyday, you know,
- 36:03he was good for fifteen to twenty carries, five to
- 36:07eight catches. I mean, he was one of the premier
- 36:09backs in the league. But what happens to those guys,
- 36:11They get hurt a little bit and they wear it down,
- 36:14so they have to go to Seattle. Seattle obviously bounce back.
- 36:18Darnold's playing well. Jackson Smith and Jigba has really stepped up.
- 36:21I mentioned in week my Week one show they have
- 36:23a rookie that they really liked. I think they drafted
- 36:26him in the fifth round. Last name is Horton, think
- 36:29Tory Horton, and he kind of became that third receiver
- 36:34for them because they don't have Tyler Lockett anymore. And
- 36:37he caught a touchdown for them in I believe their
- 36:42last game, and they're gradually easing him into the offense,
- 36:46so he's going to be a guy to watch. He
- 36:49had a twenty one yard catch. He's not a big
- 36:52part of the offense. And their rookie tight end Elijah
- 36:54Royal I thought would be a bigger part. He hasn't really.
- 36:58He hasn't really stepped into it. Mostly Jackson Smith and Jigbo,
- 37:01who's a really good wide receiver. Doesn't get into the
- 37:04end zone a lot, but he catches a lot of passes.
- 37:07Great in space, good against man, good against zone. He's
- 37:10just a really complete receiver and.
- 37:12Speaker 2: They're riding him right now.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I feel like until they get somebody to step up
- 37:17as a second or third weapon, there are probably gonna
- 37:19be games where they struggle offensively and maybe they even
- 37:23do against the Saints. Again, I'm surprised at how well
- 37:25they were able to play against the Steelers.
- 37:28Speaker 2: But there's something going on with the Steelers.
- 37:30Speaker 1: But Seattle's got to feel pretty good about itself at
- 37:33home against the Saints Dallas at Chicago.
- 37:38Speaker 2: The Cowboys are road one and a half point favorites.
- 37:41Speaker 1: All Right, I have to talk on this because I'm
- 37:45already bothered by the Bears head coach Ben Johnson the
- 37:49way he is talking in his press conference. All Right,
- 37:52I mean they lose their first game to the Vikings
- 37:55where they have the lead and then they blow it
- 37:57in the fourth quarter. Okay, I mean, you're the Bears,
- 37:59You're you're you've been bad for a long time. You're
- 38:02trying to find some positives. They were playing well against
- 38:06the Vikings, uh, and you know you're you're just trying
- 38:10to build from that, and then then they go.
- 38:12Speaker 2: And get their teeth kicked in by the Detroit Lions.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And Ben Johnson this week says things like, we are
- 38:24not practicing at a championship caliber level. Well, no freaking surprise,
- 38:32the Bears aren't practicing at a championship level.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Well, how do you expect a bunch of guys.
- 38:38Speaker 1: You don't play in the championship to haven't had Super
- 38:42Bowl experience, to just practice at a championship level?
- 38:45Speaker 2: What does that even mean? That comment was so stupid
- 38:51on so many levels.
- 38:52Speaker 1: First of all, why are you rolling over the bus
- 38:55on your team already two weeks in the seed ROWO?
- 38:57And two you just got your rear end hand it
- 39:00to you by the team you used to be the
- 39:02offensive coordinator for the team that everybody thought you were
- 39:05a genius for. They knew everything you were gonna do,
- 39:08and they just rolled you. They rolled you like they
- 39:11didn't even miss you. So I get it you your
- 39:14butt hurt by that.
- 39:16Speaker 2: I totally understand.
- 39:18Speaker 1: But in this league, when you were a young first
- 39:21year coach, you're not gonna help yourself by throwing your
- 39:25team under the bus by saying they don't practice at
- 39:29a championship level tone or pace.
- 39:32Speaker 2: That they need to practice at.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Well, guess what, not, only have they not won any championships,
- 39:38neither of you, Ben Johnson, how do you know what
- 39:41a championship level practice is? What championships? Have you coached
- 39:46a team too that we all know about? That is
- 39:48an asinine remark to make about a team that's been
- 39:52bad for a long time and a coach who's got
- 39:55two games under his belt criticizing them for not practicing
- 39:58at a championship level. And I'll give you, I'll stick
- 40:01this on to it. Whose fault is it that your
- 40:04team doesn't practice at a championship level? Tell me that
- 40:07who's fault. Did you just start practicing two weeks ago?
- 40:11Or did you have the team since April? You've had
- 40:13these guys in your facility earlier, because every OTA for
- 40:19a rookie head coach or a first year head coach
- 40:20starts a week earlier. All right, So you had these
- 40:23guys earlier than most of the rest of the league.
- 40:26You've had them since April. You've had an opportunity to
- 40:30have OTAs a rookie camp, training camp practices now and
- 40:35you're telling me they're not practicing at a championship level.
- 40:37You've had them for April, May Drew and July five,
- 40:40five six months now. Okay, So maybe you should take
- 40:44a look in the mirror and ask yourself, why isn't
- 40:47your team practicing better?
- 40:50Speaker 2: All right?
- 40:50Speaker 1: If you think it has nothing to do with you,
- 40:52it's certain players get rid of the players bench players
- 40:55play the players that you brought in, which apparently and
- 40:58we'll see in this game. It sounds like, just from
- 41:02some of the things I was reading, that they want
- 41:04to get Luther Burden, their second round pick, more involved
- 41:07in the offense. It may come at the expense of
- 41:10Dj Moore. Dj Moore didn't have a good year last year,
- 41:14and there were rumors that he might be out the door. Anyway,
- 41:17he's not out the door yet, but he had five
- 41:20for forty six against the Lions. I don't think he
- 41:24did anything all that great in that first Bears game,
- 41:28either three catches sixty eight yards. But if they want
- 41:31to get Luthor Burden on the field, and he gonna
- 41:33take Roma Dunsay off, he's got three touchdowns, alright, he's
- 41:36been pretty good. Not gonna take the other kid that
- 41:38you're the tight end they drafted off the field. Zakias
- 41:42has played all right. So you want to take one
- 41:44outside receiver or even slot guy off the field, It's
- 41:48not gonna be a Douneesa, it's not gonna be Loveland.
- 41:51It's gonna be more And so maybe there's a trade
- 41:54of some sort that will eventually happen.
- 41:57Speaker 2: If that's the case. I just listen.
- 41:59Speaker 1: We all remember Nick Siriani getting his teeth kicked in
- 42:03by the Kansas City Chiefs his first year. And the
- 42:05week before that, I think they lost to the Niners,
- 42:08and they did not play well offensively. In fact, I
- 42:11think that's the game. They had a ninety one yard
- 42:13pass from Hurts. I think the Quz Watkins inside the
- 42:18five and didn't score, went fur on fourth down, didn't
- 42:20even get it.
- 42:21Speaker 2: They had problems.
- 42:23Speaker 1: They had a lot of problems first year. And Nick
- 42:25Sirianni did he roll the bus over his team.
- 42:28Speaker 5: No.
- 42:28Speaker 2: In fact, he looked at himself.
- 42:29Speaker 1: In the mirror and he gave play calling over to
- 42:32Shane Steichen and that made a big difference, right, And
- 42:35then he gave the old impassioned Flower speech that he
- 42:38got made fun of but wound up be true.
- 42:40Speaker 2: The Flower speech being Hey, we're just we're like a flow.
- 42:43We're gonna grow right.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Well, this is the early stages, this is the growing pains.
- 42:48We have not blossomed. We haven't come into our own.
- 42:51He had his team's back, and all he was trying
- 42:53to relay is let's get through the growing pains together.
- 42:56Speaker 2: These are inevitable. They happened to everybody.
- 42:59Speaker 1: But if we stay together and we play together, and
- 43:02we trust each other and we become a family, we
- 43:05can win.
- 43:06Speaker 2: There's enough talent we can win.
- 43:08Speaker 1: And they started to win, and they've won at a
- 43:10higher rate than anybody under Nick Sirianni. You're two games in,
- 43:15you're Ben Johnson, and you're saying your players don't practice
- 43:17at a championship level. That is the most anti player.
- 43:22That's the That's a great way to lose your locker
- 43:24room really fast. And now I gotta wonder. I have
- 43:27to wonder about Ben Johnson. You know, everybody thought it
- 43:29was a little weird anyway, because he turned down a
- 43:32bunch of jobs and he never went to to to
- 43:34one of the jobs that I think it was a
- 43:36commander's job he was supposed to interview for and then
- 43:38just never went.
- 43:40Speaker 2: You want, you know he was. He's kind of seen
- 43:42his quirky.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I really hope this is not an Adam Gays situation
- 43:46all over again. I hope not, because I'm excited for
- 43:49what Ben Johnson can do. Give him what he did
- 43:51in Detroit. But man, did the Lions look like they
- 43:53missed him by the way. I don't mean that from
- 43:56an on field standpoint. I mean the handshake between him
- 43:59and Dan Campbell of the game was first to say
- 44:02the best or quick and I don't know. I mean,
- 44:06how many people came out from Detroit and said, oh man,
- 44:08we're gonna miss this guy.
- 44:10Speaker 2: We love him, He's gonna be great. You just didn't
- 44:12hear that.
- 44:13Speaker 1: So it just makes me wonder about his personality and
- 44:16how that's gonna go over in Chicago. And it's no
- 44:19benefit to him that the Cowboys are coming in town
- 44:23coming off that big win against the Giants and Dak
- 44:25Prescott's playing really really good football. Chicago's beat up their cornerback,
- 44:30Jon Johnson's bangs up, he's out. I'm again injuries. Injuries
- 44:33are so much injuries early in the year, So Chicago
- 44:37could be walking into a buzzsaw here and I would
- 44:40watch out real quick if I was Ben Johnson. What
- 44:42I'm saying, what I'm doing, how I'm treating my players,
- 44:46that is just something you gotta watch out for. The
- 44:50NFC West Game four twenty five, you got the Arizona
- 44:53Cardinals at the forty nine ers.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Now the forty nine.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Ers are actually two and a half favor despite all
- 45:01the injuries they have, and despite the fact that they're
- 45:04playing an Arizona team that looks good on the surface
- 45:08at two and oh, but they have probably played the
- 45:11weakest schedule in the NFL. They've beaten two zero to
- 45:13two teams, the Saints and the Panthers, So I get it.
- 45:16They're on the road at San Francisco. They historically struggle
- 45:20with San Francisco. This will be a real litmus test
- 45:23game for the Cardinals, who are getting good defense.
- 45:27Speaker 2: You know.
- 45:28Speaker 1: I think Josh Wett is helping make a difference. They
- 45:30drafted that rookie corner from Michigan, Will Johnson. I think
- 45:33he's making a difference there. They've only allowed thirty five
- 45:37points through two weeks, but again they've only they played
- 45:39the Saints and the Panthers. So to me, this will
- 45:41be a test for if the Cardinals are for real.
- 45:44You're getting a forty nine ers team that is still
- 45:46dealing with a lot of injuries. All right, Uh, You're
- 45:49getting a forty nine ers team that is by its
- 45:55is itself, you know, trying to pick up the pieces
- 45:57from last year. They're also two and oh, so I
- 45:59get why they're favored they are at home. They have
- 46:01also only beaten the Saints and the Seahawks. You know,
- 46:05to beat the Seahawks, but it was a close one.
- 46:07It's kind of a litmus test, honestly for both teams.
- 46:10But it's a big game because it's an NFC West
- 46:12game and you're trying to get every advantage you can
- 46:15this early in the year. Hey, Philly fans, game day
- 46:18is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines, We've all been there,

- 47:15Speaker 2: Twenty one and up.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Sky Motor Cars and West Gust there's a different building.

- 47:22owned vehicles and people all over the country.

- 47:41to one, eight seven five.
- 47:47Speaker 1: And then you got the Chiefs who are six and
- 47:50a half point favorites against the Giants. Always fun to
- 47:54see an zero to two team on the road that
- 47:58is six and a half point favorites. Let let's talk
- 48:01about Kansas City for a second, all right, In this
- 48:03battle of oh to two teams the Chiefs.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Everybody says the Chiefs should go go out trade for
- 48:09Tyreek Hill.
- 48:10Speaker 1: It's not working in Miami. They don't need a wide receiver.
- 48:13I know their pass offense thinks right now, they are
- 48:16they're they'll get Xavier Worthy back, and obviously Rashid Rice
- 48:20will come back.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Uh, this will be the third game of his six
- 48:22game suspension. They're gonna get him back.
- 48:24Speaker 1: And when they get Rice and Worthy healthy, and you
- 48:27still got Travis Kelcey and that will help Mahomes out.
- 48:31They'll be okay with the pass offense, and that left
- 48:34side of the line I think will come together.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I'm I don't.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I feel like Justin Simmons is a really good athlete
- 48:40and he's just going through as a rookie. I expect
- 48:43him to be better. I think they'll be okay, but
- 48:46they have got to get some semblance of a running game.
- 48:50Right now, their running game is pathetic. Isaiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt. Now,
- 48:58they drafted a kid for Art Smith late day three
- 49:01that might start to see a little more.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Time in the offense. But you're trying to win another championship.
- 49:07You're the Chiefs.
- 49:08Speaker 1: You can't rely on that to happen unless this kid
- 49:11is just that good. I think the Chiefs are the
- 49:14top team right now to pull off a move like
- 49:17the forty nine Ers did a couple of years ago
- 49:19when they got McCaffrey to put him over the top
- 49:23or something like the Eagles. They didn't trade, but they
- 49:25obviously signed Saquon Barkley and that put them over the top.
- 49:29If I'm the Chiefs, if I continue along this way
- 49:32where my offense just has zero running impact and everybody's
- 49:36team off on my quarterback, who's the leading rusher by
- 49:39the way, which you don't.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Want that out of Patrick Mahomes.
- 49:42Speaker 1: All right, the first person I'm the first team I'm
- 49:44calling is the Miami Dolphins.
- 49:47Speaker 2: I'm calling on Devin Hn. Right.
- 49:49Speaker 1: You put Devin Hn in that offense, and oh man,
- 49:53I mean he can catch the ball, he's run, he's explosive,
- 49:55he gets hurt a lot, but he's played more games.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Than he's missed. Devin Chan in the Chiefs offense would
- 50:01be a cheat code.
- 50:02Speaker 1: And if Miami continues to lose and they're gonna blow
- 50:05it up and new coach, new front office, this is
- 50:08his third year a chen. If they don't see themselves
- 50:10giving him a big extension, then you know they.
- 50:15Speaker 2: I could see a trade like that happening. Potentially.
- 50:17Speaker 1: It all depends on what happens with the Miami Dolphins.
- 50:20That's the first team I would call. Second team i'd
- 50:22call probably the Jaguars. The Jaguars drafted two running backs.
- 50:27They want to play these guys, but Shual Tooton is one,
- 50:29the Quinn Allen is another. They're already starting to get
- 50:32toot and more involved in the offense. Etn is at
- 50:35the end of his deal. It is, I believe, and
- 50:40I don't know if he's gonna be if he's gonna
- 50:42get an extension there, and he would be another really
- 50:46good fit for that offense. I think he'd be a
- 50:51perfect fit for the Chiefs offense. He can catch the ball,
- 50:53he runs. He's a little up and down in his
- 50:55career with the Jags. It seems like one minute he's
- 50:58falling out of favor. Like last year he fell out
- 51:00of favor with the coaching staff. This year he's back
- 51:02into favor. You know, he's up and down. He's had
- 51:05some really good years. He's got some years where he's
- 51:07just okay. He does get injured a little bit, But
- 51:09I think he'd be perfect in the Chiefs offense. So
- 51:12chan Travis Atn or guys that have my ie off
- 51:16for maybe go to Cleveland. Now they got Judkins and
- 51:19maybe Cleveland has Jerome Ford. I don't think Jerome Ford
- 51:22gives them, you know, nearly what ATM would give them,
- 51:26or nearly what HM would give them, but.
- 51:28Speaker 2: You know, he's probably better than what they got now
- 51:31can do everything.
- 51:32Speaker 1: And yeah, you just start to look at teams that
- 51:34are you know, out of it or be willing to
- 51:37pawn off pieces. You know, Tennessee, the Titans, you know,
- 51:40they need more draft picks, they need to continue to build.
- 51:43They will at some point get Ty J. Spears back
- 51:46and then maybe that'll make Tony Pollard expendable for them
- 51:48if they don't think that they're really.
- 51:50Speaker 2: In the race.
- 51:51Speaker 1: So there'll be some options for the Chiefs. But I
- 51:54think they're just gonna be real, real hard watch at
- 51:58times until one of two things happen. One they get
- 52:01a better running game or.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Two they get Rice and Worthy back and on the field.
- 52:05Speaker 1: At the same time, that being said, I don't trust
- 52:09that Russell Wilson's gonna have a game like he had
- 52:11against the Cowboys every week. The Giants offensive line is
- 52:15still an issue. The Giants defense is an issue right now.
- 52:19They're not stopping the run very well. And also when
- 52:22you don't stop the run and you can't get the
- 52:24opponent in those third and long situations, then you can't
- 52:27rush the passer all right, and they have great pass rushers,
- 52:31but these guys are not able to do that with
- 52:33any regularity because the team just isn't good and never
- 52:37has a lead. So it's almost a little bit of
- 52:40a waste. But the defense still has to play better.
- 52:42Giants defense did not play well against the Cowboys, played
- 52:46okay against the Commanders, but the Commanders made a lot
- 52:49of mistakes in that opener. They made a time management mistake.
- 52:52They dropped like four or five balls. The Giants defense
- 52:54is not playing well. It's sort of a shame that
- 52:56this is the eight to twenty game. I don't know
- 52:58whose idea that was or why, but you know you
- 53:02got two h and two teams Prime time, the A NBC.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Good for you.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I mean, people will watch A because it's football, B
- 53:09because it's the Chiefs, But I mean two oh and
- 53:13two teams. That's all you gotta say. All right, last game.
- 53:18This is now this Monday night game. This is like
- 53:21Game of the year type game. If you thought the
- 53:23opener between the Ravens and Bills was.
- 53:25Speaker 2: A great game.
- 53:26Speaker 1: This game is going to be fantastic and that's Detroit
- 53:30Lions at the Baltimore Ravens.
- 53:33Speaker 2: The Lions, I told.
- 53:34Speaker 1: You last week, and I didn't expect them to break
- 53:36out the way they did. But too many people were
- 53:39talking about the new offensive coordinator and not enough about
- 53:43their offensive line that had undergone a lot of losses
- 53:46in the offseason. Now sure didn't look at like it
- 53:50when they were playing the Bears, who stink. I mean,
- 53:52obviously they were able to do whatever they wanted offensively.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Gibbs had a good game.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Montgomery ran the ball well, GoF another five touchdown. Jared
- 54:02Goff must have five touchdown games like two or three
- 54:04times a year. It's unbelievable. Now what kind of quarterback
- 54:08he's become. I mean, he only threw the boy he's
- 54:10twenty three or twenty eight five touchdowns. They had two
- 54:13different receivers go over one hundred yards. This kid, Tesla,
- 54:16they drafted him in the third round, makes another crazy catch.
- 54:19Speaker 2: So they're good.
- 54:21Speaker 1: They're set, But now they got to go play the Ravens.
- 54:24That'll be a much better test for their ability to
- 54:27control the line of scrimmage, to run the ball, to
- 54:30do you know, to play how they want, how the
- 54:32Lions want to play. The Ravens will pose a big
- 54:35threat to that. Probably will have to throw the ball
- 54:37a little more. And that's when sometimes GoF gets a
- 54:39little bit out of his realm and makes a mistake,
- 54:43and the Ravens can do that to you. The Ravens
- 54:46have now scored forty points in back to back games.
- 54:49They lost forty one to forty to Buffalo. I talked
- 54:51about that, and then they beat the Browns forty one seventeen.
- 54:55That's a pretty amazing statistic to go forty. I think
- 54:59the Saints did that actually last year. I'm gonna go
- 55:02back and check this really quick. I think the Saints
- 55:03actually scored forty points in each of their first two
- 55:07games last year, and we all saw what happened to
- 55:10their season. Yeah, they did forty seven to ten and
- 55:12forty four nineteen. So I'm guessing the Ravens are gonna
- 55:17fare a little better than the Saints did last year.
- 55:20Lamar is playing at a great level. Defense did not
- 55:23look good against Buffalo, looked way better against the Browns.
- 55:26The defense did look terrible against Buffalo, because, yeah, the
- 55:28Buffalo's just hard to defend.
- 55:30Speaker 2: They're very hard to defend.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Allen uses every square inch of the football field to
- 55:35either run or throw in, so you really have to
- 55:38defend every piece. Every blade of grass is defensible when
- 55:43you have to play the Bills, so it's tough. And
- 55:45then they were winning that game by fifteen before that turnover.
- 55:49But the bottom line is the Ravens are on fire
- 55:52right now they are home.
- 55:54Speaker 2: That gives them the advantage.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I wouldn't put money on this game because anybody could
- 55:58literally win it, and it should be the best game
- 56:02of the week overall. And that wraps up the games.
- 56:05I had a bad week last week as far as
- 56:07my picks.
- 56:08Speaker 2: I went oh and three.
- 56:09Speaker 1: I had the Dolphins covering one and a half over
- 56:12the Patriots.
- 56:12Speaker 2: They just lost out right.
- 56:14Speaker 1: The Steelers beating the Saints, I'm sorry, beating the Seahawks
- 56:17by two.
- 56:17Speaker 2: And a half.
- 56:18Speaker 1: They lost outright. And the Cowboys did not cover five
- 56:21and a half over the Giants. They won by only three,
- 56:25So I went oh and three. That brings me to
- 56:27two and four this week. I like the Cowboys. They
- 56:30are one and a half point favorites at the Bears.
- 56:32I like them to cover that for a whole lot
- 56:34of reasons that I just discussed. I like the Bengals
- 56:37going into Minnesota. They're getting two and a half points.
- 56:40This game could go either way. It could be a
- 56:42one point win for the either team. But I'm just
- 56:46not putting my faith in Carson Wentz to come out
- 56:48there and beat up on the Bengals, especially with all
- 56:52the injuries that the Vikings are dealing with outside of
- 56:55just the quarterback. So I like the Bengals to cover
- 56:57the two and a half that they're getting and the
- 57:01Texans one and a half points that they're getting against
- 57:04the Jags. Yeah, two of the three games, I'm taking
- 57:07a team that's getting points on the road. I just
- 57:11don't love what I've seen from the Jaguars, and I
- 57:13don't love at all what I've seen from the Texans,
- 57:15but I do think they're gonna break out of it
- 57:17at some point, and I just think.
- 57:19Speaker 2: That they're overall better than the Jaguars.
- 57:21Speaker 1: So you're giving the Texans one and a half, I'll
- 57:23take the Texans one and a half.
- 57:24Speaker 2: Those are my three picks.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Everybody, enjoy your football watching this weekend and We'll do
- 57:29it again next week.
