Mega Edition: Jes Staley, Leon Black And The Conditions In The Compensation Fund (9/7/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

0:00
Speaker 1: And welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles. So Leon Black
0:05
Speaker 1: has paid a $ 62. 5 million settlement to the United States
0:10
Speaker 1: Virgin Islands for his alleged role in Jeffrey Epstein's bullshit.
0:15
Speaker 1: And isn't it amazing how all of these people who
0:17
Speaker 1: had no idea what was going on, who had nothing
0:20
Speaker 1: to do with Jeffrey Epstein and his criminal enterprise, how
0:24
Speaker 1: they're all paying out so much money? That's very interesting, right?
0:27
Speaker 1: Because if you were innocent, You would fight that. You
0:30
Speaker 1: wouldn't say, all right, you know what? Here's 62 and
0:32
Speaker 1: a half million. Let's call it a day. I know
0:36
Speaker 1: that if I was innocent, I certainly wouldn't be forking
0:38
Speaker 1: over that dough. But all of these people who were
0:41
Speaker 1: involved with this scumbag have no problem forking out this money.
0:46
Speaker 1: And all of that is to avoid going to discovery
0:49
Speaker 1: in any of these trials because they know at discovery,
0:53
Speaker 1: they're going to get absolutely walloped with evidence about their
0:56
Speaker 1: role and about their relationship. with Jeffrey Epstein. And Leon
1:01
Speaker 1: Black's no different. But the saddest part is the fact
1:04
Speaker 1: that the U.S. Virgin Islands is going to get this
1:06
Speaker 1: money and not the Epstein survivors. So if we're doing
1:11
Speaker 1: our math correctly, the U.S. Virgin Islands has now profited
1:15
Speaker 1: to the tune of $ 167. 5 million directly off the back
1:21
Speaker 1: of the survivors and the abuse that they suffered. In
1:24
Speaker 1: the words of Sebastian Maniscalco, aren't you embarrassed? Today's article
1:29
Speaker 1: is from the St. Thomas Source and the headline, Report.
1:33
Speaker 1: Billionaire Leon Black paid the Virgin Islands $ 62. 5 million over
1:39
Speaker 1: Epstein ties. But I thought they weren't really friends. I
1:42
Speaker 1: thought they were just associates. This article was authored by
1:47
Speaker 1: Cian Cobb. Billionaire investor Leon Black agreed in January to
1:52
Speaker 1: pay the U.S. Virgin Islands $ 62. 5 million to be released
1:57
Speaker 1: from any claims related to the territory's investigation into the
2:01
Speaker 1: sex trafficking of late disgraced financier, pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the
2:06
Speaker 1: New York Times has reported. And now it all makes sense, right?
2:11
Speaker 1: It makes sense why the U.S. Virgin Islands set out
2:14
Speaker 1: all of these subpoenas to all of these rich people.
2:17
Speaker 1: They were just fishing. Let's see who we can get
2:19
Speaker 1: to come to the table and give us a settlement.
2:23
Speaker 1: I know that's a cynical way to look at it,
2:24
Speaker 1: but did they send anybody to prison? Did anyone even
2:28
Speaker 1: get hit with criminal charges? Well, we all know the
2:30
Speaker 1: answers to that. Black, 71, the former chief executive of
2:35
Speaker 1: private equity firm Apollo Global Management, had a decades-long relationship
2:40
Speaker 1: with Epstein, whom he paid some $ 158 million over the
2:42
Speaker 1: years for tax, and estate planning services, according to the Times.
2:49
Speaker 1: And does anyone believe that? Has anyone ever paid $ 160
2:53
Speaker 1: million in the history of the world for somebody else's advice?
2:56
Speaker 1: I highly doubt it. Not somebody like Leon Black. So
3:00
Speaker 1: what was the $ 160 million really for? That's the real question.
3:03
Speaker 1: And my guess is Epstein was hiding money for him.
3:06
Speaker 1: You know how Epstein rolls. He was out there laundering money,
3:10
Speaker 1: had a whole ass operation set up offshore to do
3:13
Speaker 1: just that. And that's what all of these scumbags were doing.
3:17
Speaker 1: And that's another reason why you didn't see a RICO
3:19
Speaker 1: case here, because it would have been all encompassing. And
3:22
Speaker 1: all of these jackoffs that were hanging out with Epstein,
3:26
Speaker 1: giving him his money, getting money from him. Well, they'd
3:29
Speaker 1: all be caught up in this RICO scam. And all
3:31
Speaker 1: of your favorite politicians, well, they couldn't have that because
3:34
Speaker 1: who would fund their next run for office? He severed
3:39
Speaker 1: that relationship amid a dispute in 2018, according to the newspaper,
3:44
Speaker 1: and was cooperating with the V.I. government's investigation into Epstein.
3:49
Speaker 1: In 2021, he stepped down as CEO and chairman of
3:53
Speaker 1: Apollo after an internal investigation revealed his payments to Epstein.
3:58
Speaker 1: He also did not reseek election to the board of
4:01
Speaker 1: the Museum of Modern Art in New York City when
4:04
Speaker 1: his term as chairman ended that year. in the wake
4:07
Speaker 1: of protests over his financial ties to Epstein. According to
4:12
Speaker 1: reports at the time, Black saved at least $ 1. 3 billion
4:16
Speaker 1: using Epstein's tax avoidance strategies, and in 2021, pledged to
4:22
Speaker 1: donate $ 200 million to women's initiatives. They always say that, right?
4:26
Speaker 1: We're going to donate to this woman's initiative. Then the
4:28
Speaker 1: money goes to this gigantic, I'm using air quotes here, charity,
4:33
Speaker 1: where only pennies on the dollar even reach the victims.
4:37
Speaker 1: So it's all BS, and my guess is he's probably
4:39
Speaker 1: giving the money to some foundation that's run by a
4:43
Speaker 1: friend of his. You know how the nepotism works with
4:45
Speaker 1: these scumbags. All of these people, the so-called elite, they
4:49
Speaker 1: have a lot of disdain for you. V.I. Attorney General
4:52
Speaker 1: Office Spokesperson Venetia H. Velasquez said in a statement Friday
4:57
Speaker 1: evening that the settlement with Black reflects the department's determination
5:02
Speaker 1: to fight human trafficking. Oh, give me a break. So
5:05
Speaker 1: who did you arrest? How many people have you arrested?
5:08
Speaker 1: And how much of that money have you distributed to
5:10
Speaker 1: the survivors of Epstein? Oh, that's right, none. Not one
5:13
Speaker 1: single dollar and nobody arrested. So do us a favor
5:16
Speaker 1: and stop trying to tell us this is all about justice.
5:19
Speaker 1: This is all about securing a bag and getting more
5:22
Speaker 1: money for the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the past several years,
5:26
Speaker 1: the Virgin Islands Department of Justice has made it a
5:29
Speaker 1: priority to support human trafficking victims and to enforce the
5:33
Speaker 1: law to prevent and deter human trafficking. Unlike any single individual, J.P.
5:39
Speaker 1: Morgan had detailed and comprehensive financial data on Epstein's activities
5:44
Speaker 1: and the legal obligation to share that information with law
5:47
Speaker 1: enforcement so that it could act to stop his ongoing abuse,
5:51
Speaker 1: said Velaquez. The Virgin Islands DOJ has and will continue
5:56
Speaker 1: to allocate substantial resources from settlements and enforcement actions to
6:01
Speaker 1: enhancing and expanding its counseling and mental health services. and
6:05
Speaker 1: preventing human trafficking. Oh, give me a break. They've had
6:10
Speaker 1: all this time to do that. They've had all the
6:13
Speaker 1: opportunity in the world to do that. And they've also
6:15
Speaker 1: had all the opportunity in the world to hold people accountable.
6:19
Speaker 1: They've done none of it. Not one single bit of it.
6:21
Speaker 1: But now, oh, now they're going to allocate all the
6:24
Speaker 1: resources that are needed. Yeah, I'm sure the people of
6:26
Speaker 1: the U.S. Virgin Islands, the people who need those resources
6:29
Speaker 1: the most, are going to get them. Because, you know,
6:32
Speaker 1: that's exactly what governments do after a cash grab. According
6:37
Speaker 1: to the Times, some of the money from the settlement
6:39
Speaker 1: with Black will go to mental health programs and to
6:42
Speaker 1: combat sex trafficking in the territory. No, it's not. What
6:46
Speaker 1: does that even mean? Talk about a vague ass statement.
6:49
Speaker 1: Give us a line by line itemized list of where
6:52
Speaker 1: this money is going. And here's an idea. Instead of
6:55
Speaker 1: doing that, why don't you give this money to the survivors? Oh,
6:58
Speaker 1: that's right. Because that's not what it's about. It's not
7:02
Speaker 1: about justice. It's about greed. Like everybody else involved in
7:06
Speaker 1: this bullshit, it's about greed. The settlement does not cover
7:09
Speaker 1: claims that anyone else might bring against Black, but also
7:13
Speaker 1: cannot be used as evidence of wrongdoing by him, the
7:17
Speaker 1: paper reported. Way to give him an assist, U.S. Virgin Islands. Imagine,
7:21
Speaker 1: in the middle of his other legal disputes, criminal, mind you,
7:25
Speaker 1: the U.S. Virgin Islands comes flying in here and collects
7:28
Speaker 1: a few bucks. It's like when the vultures are circling, right?
7:31
Speaker 1: Somebody's about to die. in the desert or whatever, and
7:34
Speaker 1: you got the vultures circling above them, well, that's what
7:37
Speaker 1: the U.S. Virgin Islands is like whenever there's a settlement
7:40
Speaker 1: to be had when it comes to Epstein. Whit Clay,
7:43
Speaker 1: a spokesman for Black, told the Times that the mogul
7:46
Speaker 1: engaged and made payments to Jeffrey Epstein for legitimate financial services, which,
7:52
Speaker 1: based on everything now known, he very much regrets. Consistent
7:56
Speaker 1: with settlements of other major U.S. banks, Mr. Black resolved
8:00
Speaker 1: the USVI's potential claims arising out of the unintended consequences
8:06
Speaker 1: of those payments, which allegedly involved Epstein Southern Trust Company,
8:10
Speaker 1: the same one that received lucrative tax benefits through the
8:13
Speaker 1: territory's Economic Development Commission and was at the center of
8:18
Speaker 1: the USVI's suit against his estate. And just think about
8:21
Speaker 1: that for a minute. All of these people that were involved,
8:25
Speaker 1: every single one of them is able to buy their
8:27
Speaker 1: way out of this. No extra scrutiny, no criminal charges, nothing.
8:33
Speaker 1: And it's not just about money. Remember, guys like El
8:35
Speaker 1: Chapo have money. John Gotti had money. You know what
8:38
Speaker 1: they don't have? Connections in the government. If you don't
8:41
Speaker 1: have connections in the government, you don't have connections in
8:44
Speaker 1: the DOJ, then your money is worthless if you get
8:47
Speaker 1: in trouble. When we're talking about a guy like Leon Black,
8:51
Speaker 1: he's not just a dude with money. This is a
8:53
Speaker 1: man that runs in the halls of power, knows all
8:56
Speaker 1: of the power brokers. And if anybody ever thought that
8:59
Speaker 1: he was going to be really held responsible for what
9:02
Speaker 1: he did, well, they were smoking that good good. Because
9:05
Speaker 1: guys like this, as history has shown us, are never
9:08
Speaker 1: held responsible. And that's because there's always the outlet. The
9:11
Speaker 1: outlet of paying a few bucks to get out of
9:14
Speaker 1: trouble and to get yourself off the hook. And time
9:17
Speaker 1: and time again, we have seen these governments allow that
9:20
Speaker 1: shit and we see these judges gleefully sign off on it. Well,
9:24
Speaker 1: at some point, that has to end. and there has
9:27
Speaker 1: to be real repercussions for scuzzballs who are doing the
9:30
Speaker 1: bullshit that these idiots are doing. The Justice Department produced
9:34
Speaker 1: a copy of the previously unreported settlement agreement in response
9:38
Speaker 1: to a public records request by the Times, the paper said.
9:42
Speaker 1: The deal was reached during a private mediation session in January,
9:46
Speaker 1: according to another document reviewed by the Times.

10:13
Speaker 1: Black, a married father of four, has faced accusations by
10:16
Speaker 1: a woman named Gazelle Ganieva, who claimed she was sexually
10:20
Speaker 1: harassed and abused by him for years and ultimately forced
10:24
Speaker 1: to sign a non-disclosure agreement under duress, according to reports
10:29
Speaker 1: by Business Insider, Bloomberg, and Reuters. He has said it
10:34
Speaker 1: was a consensual affair. She also alleged that he introduced
10:37
Speaker 1: her to Epstein and tried to force her to have
10:40
Speaker 1: sex with him. Another accuser, Sherry Pearson, said Black raped
10:46
Speaker 1: her in 2002 in Epstein's mansion in New York City,
10:49
Speaker 1: according to reports by CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and
10:53
Speaker 1: The New York Post. Black has denied those claims. The
10:58
Speaker 1: January deal with Black came after the territory settled a
11:01
Speaker 1: suit against Epstein's estate for $ 105 million in November. It
11:07
Speaker 1: subsequently sued JPMorgan Chase, the wealthy financier's bank, you mean
11:11
Speaker 1: pedophile's bank, in December. The bank is denied wrongdoing and
11:16
Speaker 1: said the government's lawsuit is a masterclass in deflection. It
11:20
Speaker 1: is a masterclass in deflection, but that said, J.P. Morgan
11:24
Speaker 1: is liable. Both sides here are liable, the U.S. Virgin
11:27
Speaker 1: Islands and J.P. Morgan. The V.I. government is seeking damages
11:33
Speaker 1: of $ 190 million in that case, alleging the bank violated
11:37
Speaker 1: the Trafficking Victims Protection Act and its dealings with Epstein.
11:42
Speaker 1: According to court documents, that suit is ongoing with a
11:45
Speaker 1: trial date of October 23rd. Now, remember, Deutsche Bank only
11:49
Speaker 1: paid out $ 75 million. So Leon Black pays out almost
11:53
Speaker 1: as much as a whole ass bank. OK, well, what
11:57
Speaker 1: was he really up to if he's paying out that
11:59
Speaker 1: kind of money? The government has alleged in its filings
12:02
Speaker 1: that Epstein connected JPMorgan Chase executives with some of the
12:06
Speaker 1: world's most high-profile and wealthy individuals, such as Black. It
12:11
Speaker 1: claims that in return for bringing valuable new clients into
12:14
Speaker 1: the bank, JPMorgan, through its senior executives, ignored the evidence
12:19
Speaker 1: of Epstein's crimes and traded victims' public safety for its
12:23
Speaker 1: own profits. Sounds like the same exact thing that the U.S.
12:27
Speaker 1: Virgin Islands did. Because that's what they did. How else
12:31
Speaker 1: did Epstein get all of these tax hookups? Why was
12:34
Speaker 1: he able to continue to bring girls to this island?
12:38
Speaker 1: They don't ever want to answer any of that stuff.
12:40
Speaker 1: But at some point, they're going to have to. And
12:42
Speaker 1: Judge Rakoff isn't really buying their BS. He is not
12:46
Speaker 1: buying the BS of the U.S. Virgin Islands when it
12:48
Speaker 1: comes to this lawsuit. So it's going to be very,
12:51
Speaker 1: very interesting to see what happens inside of this courtroom
12:54
Speaker 1: if it gets to that point. And I think it's
12:56
Speaker 1: going to. J.P. Morgan has no desire to settle with
12:59
Speaker 1: the U.S. Virgin Islands. In fact, they've already taken the
13:02
Speaker 1: posture that they're ready to litigate until the cows come home.
13:07
Speaker 1: And litigating against JPMorgan Chase, I don't care if you're
13:10
Speaker 1: a government or not, is not going to be a
13:13
Speaker 1: cheap or fun experience. These guys have lawyers out of
13:16
Speaker 1: the wazoo, and they're going to make it super expensive
13:19
Speaker 1: for the U.S. Virgin Islands. According to the government, Beyond Black,
13:23
Speaker 1: Epstein offered JP Morgan access to such high-profile individuals as
13:28
Speaker 1: Prince Andrew of Great Britain, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, former U.S.
13:33
Speaker 1: presidential advisor David Gergen, Israeli general and politician Ehud Barak,
13:39
Speaker 1: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the children of former Australian
13:44
Speaker 1: Prime Minister Paul Keating, Lord Peter Mandelson of the British government,
13:50
Speaker 1: the Agnelli family of Fiat Motor Company fame, and the
13:53
Speaker 1: ruling sheikhs of Kuwait, Buran, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates,
13:58
Speaker 1: among many others. That list reads like the bad guy
14:01
Speaker 1: list in a superhero movie. And it's also interesting how
14:05
Speaker 1: many people on that list have ties to you-know-who Bill Clinton. Epstein, 66,
14:11
Speaker 1: a registered sex offender who pleaded guilty to procuring a
14:14
Speaker 1: minor for prostitution in Florida in 2008, was found dead
14:19
Speaker 1: by apparent suicide in August of 2019 while in detention
14:23
Speaker 1: in New York on federal human trafficking charges. His primary
14:28
Speaker 1: residence was Little St. James, his private island off St. Thomas,
14:32
Speaker 1: where for years he trafficked in girls and young women
14:36
Speaker 1: and ran a complex web of shell companies registered. the
14:40
Speaker 1: USVI that enabled his crimes, court documents have alleged. So
14:44
Speaker 1: who set that up? Was it JP Morgan or was
14:48
Speaker 1: it the government in the US Virgin Islands? We all
14:50
Speaker 1: know who set it up and we all know who
14:52
Speaker 1: benefited from it. So now the US Virgin Islands wants
14:56
Speaker 1: to get duked on both ends of this. So you
14:59
Speaker 1: want to get duked on the front end and the
15:00
Speaker 1: back end. Meanwhile, you shouldn't be getting any money whatsoever,
15:05
Speaker 1: never mind both ends of it. Epstein, who held some
15:08
Speaker 1: 50 JP Morgan accounts, was valued at more than $ 577
15:13
Speaker 1: million at the time of his death, according to court documents.
15:17
Speaker 1: We all know it was more than that. The offshore
15:20
Speaker 1: unaccounted for money, forget it. How much is that worth?
15:23
Speaker 2: Who knows?
15:24
Speaker 1: But we know there's a ton of it. That's what
15:26
Speaker 1: he excelled in. That's what Epstein did. He hid money
15:29
Speaker 1: overseas and He hid money so you didn't have to
15:31
Speaker 1: pay taxes. And that's what he did for people like
15:34
Speaker 1: Leon Black and the rest of these dirtbags. Meanwhile, you
15:37
Speaker 1: have the government over here looking at your Etsy account.
15:40
Speaker 1: And then they wonder why people are pissed off. And
15:43
Speaker 1: it just adds to the frustration. It adds to the
15:45
Speaker 1: anger when people like Leon Black continuously are able to
15:49
Speaker 1: buy their way out of problems that would have the
15:51
Speaker 1: rest of us rotting in jail. And so the story goes.
15:55
Speaker 1: All right, everybody, that's a wrap for this one. All
15:58
Speaker 1: of the information that goes with the episode can be
16:01
Speaker 1: found in the description box. What's up everyone and welcome
16:05
Speaker 1: back to the Epstein Chronicles. Leon Black paid out over
16:11
Speaker 1: $ 62 million to the U.S. Virgin Islands after he was subpoenaed.
16:17
Speaker 1: And considering that we're going through a lot of those
16:20
Speaker 1: subpoenas right now from the U.S. Virgin Islands, I thought
16:23
Speaker 1: it would be the perfect time to revisit the fact
16:26
Speaker 1: that for some unknown reason, Leon Black came out of
16:29
Speaker 1: the pocket to the tune of $ 62 million. Now, what
16:33
Speaker 1: the hell was he up to down in the U.S. V.I.?
16:37
Speaker 1: That's going to cost him $ 62 million. My guess is
16:40
Speaker 1: none of it's good. But the real sad part about
16:43
Speaker 1: all of this is this is the story that we're
16:45
Speaker 1: always told, right? oh, well, so-and-so did this or that
16:49
Speaker 1: or the other thing. It's very vague about what they
16:52
Speaker 1: might have done. And then they buy their way out
16:54
Speaker 1: of it with a settlement. Now, imagine if it was
16:59
Speaker 1: you who was in trouble for something like this. And
17:02
Speaker 1: I know the vast majority of you would never, ever
17:05
Speaker 1: be caught up in something like this. But do you
17:07
Speaker 1: think that you'd be able to get out of it
17:09
Speaker 1: if you don't have any money? It's all about the money, right?
17:12
Speaker 1: And if you can pay $ 62 million to the government
17:15
Speaker 1: of the Virgin Islands, well... chances are you're going to
17:18
Speaker 1: steer clear of any kind of trouble. You're going to
17:21
Speaker 1: steer clear of any kind of issues. And unfortunately, you're
17:25
Speaker 1: going to remain under the radar when it comes to
17:27
Speaker 1: the overall narrative of what Jeffrey Epstein was up to.
17:32
Speaker 1: And that's the whole entire goal here, to make it
17:34
Speaker 1: just speculation, to make it just allegation. And the one
17:39
Speaker 1: remedy to all of that is depositions. They all know
17:42
Speaker 1: that at deposition time, the bullshit's over. So that's why
17:46
Speaker 1: they do everything in their power to avoid getting to
17:49
Speaker 1: that point. And that's certainly why Leon Black paid out
17:53
Speaker 1: $ 62 million. And that's why I said the USVI with
17:57
Speaker 1: their subpoenas was extorting people. That's all it was, was extortion.
18:01
Speaker 1: It has nothing to do with law and order, has
18:03
Speaker 1: nothing to do with the fact that they're trying to
18:05
Speaker 1: bring people to justice. They were trying to find a
18:09
Speaker 1: way that they could justify going after all of this money.
18:13
Speaker 1: and they came up with this scheme, this plot, that
18:16
Speaker 1: said that the USVI overall was a victim of Jeffrey Epstein. Now,
18:21
Speaker 1: for those of you who've been following the story, you
18:23
Speaker 1: know that that's absurd as it comes. If anything, the
18:26
Speaker 1: USVI was victimizing the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein. So, the
18:33
Speaker 1: whole entire narrative that they pitched was straight-up trash from
18:36
Speaker 1: the jump, and the fact that they were able to
18:39
Speaker 1: extract all this money from from hard-nosed people like Leon
18:43
Speaker 1: Black that will fight things tooth and nail inside of
18:45
Speaker 1: a court, tells you everything you need to know. Leon
18:49
Speaker 1: Black just packed up his tent and went home, didn't
18:51
Speaker 1: even bother trying to fight it. So, you can take
18:55
Speaker 1: from that whatever you want, but from where I'm sitting,
18:58
Speaker 1: certainly not looking good for Mr. Leon Black. Today's article
19:02
Speaker 1: is from the Daily Mail, and the headline, Leon Black
19:05
Speaker 1: Paid U.S. Virgin Islands $ 62 Million Settlement After Being Issued
19:10
Speaker 1: This Subpoena asking for all his communications with Jeffrey Epstein,
19:14
Speaker 1: Darren Indyke, and Richard Kahn. And the actual subpoena itself?
19:19
Speaker 1: We'll get to that tomorrow. We'll get it added to
19:22
Speaker 1: the catalog. This article was authored by Jen Smith. Billionaire
19:27
Speaker 1: Epstein associate Leon Black paid the U.S. Virgin Islands $ 62
19:31
Speaker 1: million in 2021 after being asked for all of his
19:35
Speaker 1: communications with the late pedophile and his right-hand men, along
19:39
Speaker 1: with photos of his trips to Epstein's island, DailyMail.com, can reveal.
19:44
Speaker 1: So this dude was being pressed for all this information,
19:47
Speaker 1: and instead of giving it all up, well, I'll just
19:50
Speaker 1: buy my way out of it. Must be nice. Must
19:53
Speaker 1: be nice to just buy your way out of whatever
19:55
Speaker 1: you want, whenever you want to do it. Because that's
19:58
Speaker 1: what this is. Let's just call it what it is.
20:02
Speaker 1: He effectively paid the USVI off so they wouldn't go
20:05
Speaker 1: after him. Now, he did it in a legal manner.
20:08
Speaker 1: I'm not saying that anything here was illegal. It's not.
20:12
Speaker 1: But it's a problem with the system itself. And there
20:15
Speaker 1: should be no NDAs and certainly no non-prosecution agreements with
20:19
Speaker 1: people like Epstein. And if there is, they should go
20:23
Speaker 1: back and proactively look to get them off the books.
20:27
Speaker 1: Does anyone in their right mind really think that Jeffrey
20:29
Speaker 1: Epstein was honest during the proffer session? Does anyone really
20:32
Speaker 1: believe that? so the second you're not honest during the
20:35
Speaker 1: proper session, everything gets thrown out. I mean, I know
20:39
Speaker 1: that AOC doesn't believe that RICO is a thing, but
20:43
Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you, it is. The Caribbean investigators
20:47
Speaker 1: also wanted to know about Black's own trips to Little St. James,
20:50
Speaker 1: Epstein's private island, where the late financier, pedophile, is said
20:54
Speaker 1: to have abused countless girls and allegedly handed them off
20:57
Speaker 1: to his friends too. Yeah, well, I don't know if
21:00
Speaker 1: there's any allegedly there. I think we could say allegedly
21:03
Speaker 1: about who was involved. But as far as what happened,
21:06
Speaker 1: the actual pattern of abuse, no allegedly there. We all
21:10
Speaker 1: know the deal. We all know what happened. And we
21:12
Speaker 1: all know how pervasive it was. Black ended up settling,
21:16
Speaker 1: agreeing in January to pay $ 62. 5 million to make it
21:20
Speaker 1: go away. The settlement was first reported by New York
21:23
Speaker 1: Times this week. Black's representatives have insisted that it does
21:28
Speaker 1: not indicate complicity in Epstein's crimes or even knowledge of it. Now,
21:32
Speaker 1: just to be clear, this article came out back in January.
21:36
Speaker 1: Once a titan of the finance industry, Black stepped down
21:39
Speaker 1: in shame from his firm Apollo in 2021 after his
21:43
Speaker 1: deep ties to Epstein were revealed. He paid Epstein $ 158
21:47
Speaker 1: million over the course of five years between 2012 and
21:53
Speaker 1: 2017 after Epstein had been convicted of soliciting prostitution from
21:56
Speaker 1: children in Palm Beach.
21:58
Speaker 2: Imagine?
22:00
Speaker 1: This dude knew that Jeffrey Epstein was out here diddling
22:02
Speaker 1: kids because that's what he went to jail for and
22:05
Speaker 1: still was willing to give him $ 158 million after Epstein
22:10
Speaker 1: was already a convicted sex offender. I don't want to
22:13
Speaker 1: hear shit from Leon Black. Oh, I had no idea
22:15
Speaker 1: what was going on. Yes, you did. You had every
22:18
Speaker 1: idea in the world. And in fact, I'll take it
22:20
Speaker 1: a step further. You knew a lot more. Now, can
22:23
Speaker 1: I prove that? Unfortunately, I can't. But I think that
22:26
Speaker 1: the $ 62. 5 million payment is a pretty good tell. Black
22:32
Speaker 1: insists the payments were for estate planning and tax advice
22:35
Speaker 1: and that he was given poor advice by Epstein, whose
22:38
Speaker 1: professional credentials barely touched his own. And that's so crazy
22:42
Speaker 1: to me, and I've said this from Jump Street. Anyone
22:44
Speaker 1: who knows about Apollo Global knows that they're one of
22:47
Speaker 1: the biggest and top investment firms hedges around. And these
22:51
Speaker 1: guys are not the kind of group that's out here
22:53
Speaker 1: looking for the advice of anybody else, Jeffrey Epstein or otherwise.
22:57
Speaker 1: So all of a sudden, Leon Black needs to go
22:59
Speaker 1: to the guru, Jeffrey Epstein, to the tune of $ 158 million? Yeah,
23:05
Speaker 1: I don't buy it, okay? Not for one single second.
23:09
Speaker 1: There is no amount of advice on this planet that's
23:12
Speaker 1: worth $ 158 million. The Senate Finance Committee is now investigating
23:18
Speaker 1: whether Black, worth a reported $ 11 billion, owes taxes on
23:22
Speaker 1: those payments. Oh, you and I would owe taxes on them.
23:25
Speaker 1: Go ahead and go and sell something on eBay. You
23:27
Speaker 1: owe tax on that. But Leon Black paying out $ 300 million,
23:32
Speaker 1: paying out $ 600 million, paying out $ 60 million, ah, no
23:34
Speaker 1: big deal. Black was a pillar of the New York
23:38
Speaker 1: High Society as the chairman of the Museum of Modern
23:42
Speaker 1: Art and husband to theater producer Deborah Black. The pair
23:45
Speaker 1: remain married and have four children, even though he was
23:48
Speaker 1: cheating on her, even though he had a gumad on
23:50
Speaker 1: the side, even though that same gumad, Guzel Ganieva, has
23:54
Speaker 1: made some horrible claims about him, even though his wife
23:58
Speaker 1: was sick at the time he was cheating on her,
24:01
Speaker 1: Good old Leon Black, the captain of industry. Mr. Moma, Mr.
24:05
Speaker 1: New York City High Life himself. Black has also been
24:09
Speaker 1: sued in Manhattan federal court by a Jane Doe who
24:12
Speaker 1: claims that he raped her in 2002 when she was
24:15
Speaker 1: 16 at Epstein's house. Now in her 30s, she is
24:18
Speaker 1: too old to file a claim against him with the
24:20
Speaker 1: New York Police Department, even in light of New York
24:23
Speaker 1: State's stretched historic child abuse statute limitations. The woman is autistic.
24:29
Speaker 1: and has Mosaic Down Syndrome, a condition that is only
24:32
Speaker 1: manifested internally and has no physical symptoms. She describes in
24:38
Speaker 1: graphic detail how Black allegedly raped her on a massage
24:42
Speaker 1: table at Epstein's mansion after sodomizing her with sex toys
24:46
Speaker 1: and making her bleed. She claims he threw her to
24:49
Speaker 1: the ground after the assault, calling her a whore. The
24:53
Speaker 1: woman's attorney, Jean Christensen, described in the filing how she
24:56
Speaker 1: had been allegedly trafficked to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, now
25:00
Speaker 1: in prison, for her part in the sex trafficking operation
25:05
Speaker 1: by a mystery couple named only as Elizabeth and Charlie.
25:09
Speaker 1: She says the girl had been given to them by
25:12
Speaker 1: her unsuspecting parents, then was subjected to horrific sexual and
25:17
Speaker 1: physical abuse. And we know that several of these lawsuits
25:20
Speaker 1: against Leon Black have been thrown out, whether on merit
25:23
Speaker 1: or because Leon Black is just too powerful. Either way,
25:27
Speaker 1: going after a man like Leon Black, you better come prepared.
25:31
Speaker 1: Because not only is he a downright scoundrel, he's going
25:36
Speaker 1: to bring in the big guns, and he has enough
25:38
Speaker 1: money to litigate you from here to Saint-Gennard. The lawsuit
25:43
Speaker 1: describes shocking and twisted tactics allegedly used by Ghislaine to
25:47
Speaker 1: win the child's trust. The girl's attorneys claimed Ghislaine called
25:50
Speaker 1: her beautiful darling and compared her to a doll, lauding
25:54
Speaker 1: her with praise whenever she pleased Epstein sexually, and even
25:58
Speaker 1: clapping after the first time she made him ejaculate. Maxwell
26:02
Speaker 1: has long denied the many allegations against her from a
26:05
Speaker 1: number of women. She remains in prison, serving a 20-year
26:08
Speaker 1: prison sentence for her crimes, but she is the only
26:11
Speaker 1: person in Epstein's orbit to have been sent down for
26:14
Speaker 1: what is described as a worldwide pedophile ring. And not
26:19
Speaker 1: to digress too far, but come on. All of these
26:22
Speaker 1: people involved, all of these people named in court documents,
26:25
Speaker 1: how is it that only Maxwell's in prison? Epstein killed
26:30
Speaker 1: himself in jail, allegedly, in 2019 while awaiting trial. Black's
26:35
Speaker 1: attorneys have strenuously denied the most recent lawsuit filed by
26:39
Speaker 1: Jane Doe. They say he has never before even met
26:42
Speaker 1: the girl who claims he raped her. And you know,
26:45
Speaker 1: the question still remains that I asked in the beginning
26:48
Speaker 1: of the episode. What the hell is this guy giving
26:51
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein $ 158 million for? And furthermore, how is it
26:56
Speaker 1: that the USVI is just going to let him get
26:58
Speaker 1: off with a payout? Unless, of course, the USVI has
27:02
Speaker 1: been bullshitting you all for all this time when they
27:04
Speaker 1: say they care about justice. Because the optics and their
27:08
Speaker 1: actions tell us that it's not about justice. And in fact,
27:12
Speaker 1: just like the estate, it's all about money. And just
27:15
Speaker 1: like with the financial institutions and with Leon Black, when
27:19
Speaker 1: it comes to the USVI, it's profits over people. All right, folks,
27:25
Speaker 1: that's going to do it for this one. All of
27:26
Speaker 1: the information that goes with this episode can be found
27:29
Speaker 1: in the description box. What's up, everyone? And welcome back
27:33
Speaker 1: to the Epstein Chronicles. So according to the New York Times,
27:39
Speaker 1: there were some provisions that were carved out inside of
27:43
Speaker 1: the Survivors Compensation Fund that allows the Survivors to go
27:47
Speaker 1: after people like Jess Daly and Leon Black. And that's
27:52
Speaker 1: exactly what at least one of the Survivors is going
27:56
Speaker 1: to do. And that's according to a new article that's
27:59
Speaker 1: out in the New York Times. So let's dive into
28:02
Speaker 1: this article and let's see what's going on in the
28:06
Speaker 1: world of Jeffrey Epstein. and his dirty-ass scumbag friends. Today's
28:12
Speaker 1: article was published by the New York Times, and the headline,
28:17
Speaker 1: Epstein victim may pursue claims against two Wall Street executives.
28:22
Speaker 1: A carve-out provision allows at least one sexual abuse victim
28:26
Speaker 1: of Jeffrey Epstein, who settled with his estate, to pursue
28:30
Speaker 1: claims against Leon Black and James Staley. Other survivors may follow.
28:36
Speaker 1: This article was authored by Matthew Goldstein. At least one
28:42
Speaker 1: longtime sexual abuse victim of Jeffrey Epstein, who received a
28:46
Speaker 1: monetary settlement from his estate, can also pursue separate claims
28:51
Speaker 1: against two powerful Wall Street executives who had ties to
28:55
Speaker 1: the convicted sex offender, according to two people briefed on
28:58
Speaker 1: the matter. And that's good, right? If there's other people
29:02
Speaker 1: who are liable here, they shouldn't be absolved of any
29:05
Speaker 1: sort of responsibility because Jeffrey Epstein's estate decided to pay
29:10
Speaker 1: out some money. That's ridiculous. If I was abused by
29:14
Speaker 1: Leon Black and Jeffrey Epstein, both of those scumbags are
29:18
Speaker 1: paying up. End of story. And that's the way it
29:21
Speaker 1: should be. Richard Kahn, an executive of Mr. Epstein's estate,
29:26
Speaker 1: testified in a deposition in May that the victim's settlement
29:30
Speaker 1: involved included a carve-out provision involving Leon Black, a billionaire
29:34
Speaker 1: private equity investor, and James E. Staley, a former top
29:40
Speaker 1: executive at JPMorgan Chase and Barclays, said the people who
29:44
Speaker 1: were briefed on the deposition and spoke on the condition
29:48
Speaker 1: of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss
29:52
Speaker 1: the matter. Well, we had not heard that Richard Kahn
29:55
Speaker 1: had been deposed, so that's a good thing. Getting that
29:58
Speaker 1: guy under oath was a very, very important matter to
30:03
Speaker 1: get handled. And I wonder if he perjured himself at
30:06
Speaker 1: all during that testimony. We know that Darren Indyke and
30:11
Speaker 1: Richard Kahn were key pieces of what Epstein had going on.
30:15
Speaker 1: They were around from the very beginning. indicts name and
30:19
Speaker 1: signature is everywhere on documents as well as cons and
30:22
Speaker 1: then just listen to what the survivors had to say
30:25
Speaker 1: about these two dudes and it's certainly a head scratcher
30:28
Speaker 1: how they ended up as the executors and not as defendants.
30:34
Speaker 1: The exceptions made for Mr. Black and Mr. Staley show
30:37
Speaker 1: how the two men continue to be dogged by their
30:40
Speaker 1: social and business dealings with Mr. Epstein. Four years after
30:44
Speaker 1: he killed himself in a federal jail, allegedly Mr. Goldstein,
30:48
Speaker 1: while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. You know what's
30:52
Speaker 1: so funny to me? All of these people that are
30:54
Speaker 1: so gung-ho to believe what the OIG wrote in that
30:58
Speaker 1: ridiculous report, but out of the other side of their mouth,
31:01
Speaker 1: they're criticizing this ruling or that ruling, and then they say, well,
31:06
Speaker 1: that was just a bad decision by the court or
31:08
Speaker 1: a bad decision by the Supreme Court. Well, how about
31:11
Speaker 1: a bad decision by the OIG? But that would run
31:15
Speaker 1: directly in the face of the narrative that they're trying
31:18
Speaker 1: to spin. And that narrative is, look, everybody's a conspiracy theorist,
31:23
Speaker 1: and Jeffrey Epstein most certainly killed himself. How do we
31:26
Speaker 1: know that? Well, we're telling you that. Meanwhile, the OIG
31:30
Speaker 1: report did nothing, nothing, not one single thing, just to
31:35
Speaker 1: be clear, okay? You want it in Italian? I'll give
31:37
Speaker 1: it to you in Italian, too. It did ugaz, when
31:40
Speaker 1: it comes to furthering any sort of reliable narrative about
31:44
Speaker 1: what happened inside of that jail cell. And furthermore, what happened...
31:48
Speaker 1: the first time around, inside of the jail cell with
31:51
Speaker 1: Nicholas Tartaglione. You notice the New York Times and Mr.
31:56
Speaker 1: Goldstein here and the rest of the reporters that cover
31:59
Speaker 1: this case, I'm using air quotes, they never bring that
32:02
Speaker 1: part of it up. And the reason that they never
32:04
Speaker 1: bring up Tartaglione and what happened in that jail cell
32:08
Speaker 1: is because it absolutely destroys the rest of the narrative
32:11
Speaker 1: moving forward. The arrangement could set a precedent for other
32:15
Speaker 1: victims of Mr. Epstein, potentially exposing Mr. Black and Mr.
32:20
Speaker 1: Staley to further scrutiny and liability. They deserve all of it,
32:25
Speaker 1: all the scrutiny, all the liability, and hopefully all of
32:29
Speaker 1: the repercussions that comes with it. She was a victim,
32:33
Speaker 1: potentially to these individuals, Mr. Khan said in the deposition,
32:38
Speaker 1: according to one of the people. Mr. Kahn said that Mr.
32:41
Speaker 1: Epstein's estate agreed to the carve-out provision so that the
32:45
Speaker 1: unnamed woman could potentially sue for harms that she incurred. Well,
32:50
Speaker 1: as much as I hate Indykin Kahn, I'm glad to
32:53
Speaker 1: see that the estate acquiesced to this portion of it.
32:57
Speaker 1: That way, the woman here doesn't just have to say,
33:00
Speaker 1: you know what, I got a payment from Epstein's estate,
33:04
Speaker 1: so everybody else is off the hook. Screw that. Enough
33:07
Speaker 1: of that nonsense. Everybody who was involved has to be
33:10
Speaker 1: brought in, prosecuted, if they've done something criminal, and arrested.
33:15
Speaker 1: I don't understand what the holdup is here and what
33:18
Speaker 1: the problem is. In the deposition, Mr. Kahn, who was Mr.
33:23
Speaker 1: Epstein's longtime accountant, said at least one other victim had
33:26
Speaker 1: sought a similar carve-out from the estate, according to the person.
33:31
Speaker 1: He suggested in testimony, without providing details, the other victims
33:36
Speaker 1: might have asked for the provision with regard to other men,
33:39
Speaker 1: the person said. It was unclear from Mr. Khan's deposition
33:43
Speaker 1: whether either of the women had pursued claims against Mr.
33:47
Speaker 1: Black or Mr. Staley or what their specific claims might be.
33:51
Speaker 1: The people briefed on the deposition said, well, we know
33:55
Speaker 1: what the claims are. We know what women are saying
33:58
Speaker 1: about Leon Black and Jeff Staley. And then we have
34:01
Speaker 1: Jess Daly's own emails that are more than suspect. Talking
34:06
Speaker 1: about Snow White, Beauty and the Beast. Come on, do
34:10
Speaker 1: you really think they were talking about Disney movies? Or
34:13
Speaker 1: were they talking about something a lot more sinister? In
34:17
Speaker 1: settling claims with victims, Mr. Epstein's estate had sought to
34:20
Speaker 1: limit the potential for litigation against anyone with ties to Mr. Epstein.
34:26
Speaker 1: Something that should have never been allowed, by the way.
34:28
Speaker 1: That should have never been allowed by the government, but
34:31
Speaker 1: you know, the USVI and the government down there, they
34:33
Speaker 1: care so much about the victims, right? Give me a break.
34:38
Speaker 1: As they're stuffing money in their pockets like Scrooge McDuck.
34:41
Speaker 1: Both Mr. Black, co-founder of the private equity firm Apollo
34:44
Speaker 1: Global Management, and Mr. Staley had been frequent visitors to Mr.
34:49
Speaker 1: Epstein's Manhattan residence. Mr. Black paid Mr. Epstein $ 158 million
34:55
Speaker 1: for tax and estate planning services Outsized payments that are
34:59
Speaker 1: now drawing scrutiny from the Senate Finance Committee. Oh, they
35:03
Speaker 1: finally got around to it, huh? That's nice of them.
35:06
Speaker 1: Were they too busy playing political fuck the football before? Oh,
35:11
Speaker 1: that's exactly what they were doing. The whole lot of
35:13
Speaker 1: them disgust me, by the way. All of our elected officials,
35:17
Speaker 1: I don't look at any of them and say to myself, man,
35:19
Speaker 1: this is somebody I can trust. This is somebody that's
35:22
Speaker 1: going to do the right thing. And why do I
35:24
Speaker 1: take such a cynical outlook when it comes to our politicians? Well,
35:29
Speaker 1: take a look at the way they behave. Take a
35:31
Speaker 1: look at all of the shit going on, all of
35:33
Speaker 1: the things that are wrong in this country, and they
35:35
Speaker 1: can't even figure it out. They can't come together. They
35:38
Speaker 1: can't work together. Everything's a big argument. Everything has to
35:42
Speaker 1: be absolutely politicized. That way they can continue to divide
35:46
Speaker 1: me and you so they can continue to do what
35:49
Speaker 1: they want to do without any scrutiny. That's the plan.
35:52
Speaker 1: I can't believe more people don't see it, but that's
35:55
Speaker 1: what they've been doing forever. And that's what they continue
35:57
Speaker 1: to do. Do you really think that these politicians that
36:01
Speaker 1: are out there talking all this trash about the other
36:04
Speaker 1: politicians really mean that? It's like wrestling. Oh sure, they
36:08
Speaker 1: hate each other when the cameras are on, but when
36:10
Speaker 1: the camera goes off, they all work together again to
36:13
Speaker 1: continue to plunder your future and your wealth. Meanwhile, everybody
36:17
Speaker 1: stands on the sidelines and cheers them on. Susan Estrich,
36:21
Speaker 1: a lawyer for Mr. Black, said the leak of Mr.
36:24
Speaker 1: Khan's deposition testimony is baseless character assassination involving anonymous women.
36:30
Speaker 1: who have never brought a claim against Mr.
36:32
Speaker 2: Black.
36:33
Speaker 1: So you know that this is a heavy claim if
36:35
Speaker 1: Susan Estrich is trying to get out in front of
36:37
Speaker 1: it the way she is. She knows that this is
36:40
Speaker 1: going to have blowback, and she knows that the writing
36:42
Speaker 1: is on the wall for Leon Black to now face
36:46
Speaker 1: other civil suits.
36:47
Speaker 2: Lawyers for Mr. Staley did not respond to her request
36:49
Speaker 2: for a comment. A lawyer for Mr. Khan declined to comment.
37:00
Speaker 1: The deposition for Mr. Khan was in connection with a
37:03
Speaker 1: class action lawsuit filed last year by Mr. Epstein's survivors
37:08
Speaker 1: against JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States,
37:12
Speaker 1: and a related lawsuit against the bank by the U.S.
37:16
Speaker 1: Virgin Islands. The lawsuits contend that the bank turned a
37:20
Speaker 1: blind eye to Mr. Epstein's trafficking of teenage girls and
37:24
Speaker 1: and young women to and from his residences in the
37:27
Speaker 1: Virgin Islands, Manhattan, Florida, and New Mexico because he was
37:31
Speaker 1: a wealthy client with famous and powerful friends. Don't even
37:35
Speaker 1: get me started on New Mexico. What occurred down in
37:38
Speaker 1: New Mexico, as far as an investigation, is straight up embarrassing.
37:44
Speaker 1: And everybody involved down there, Balderas and everybody else, should
37:48
Speaker 1: hang their heads in shame for the rest of their lives.
37:52
Speaker 1: In June, JPMorgan agreed to pay $ 290 million to settle
37:56
Speaker 1: the class action lawsuit, but it continues to contest the
38:00
Speaker 1: suit by the Virgin Islands, which seeks $ 190 million in damages.
38:05
Speaker 1: JP Morgan is also suing Mr. Staley in connection with
38:09
Speaker 1: that suit, claiming he could be liable for damages. So
38:12
Speaker 1: basically what we have here are a bunch of monkeys
38:15
Speaker 1: banging a football. That's what it looks like, okay? Lawsuits
38:18
Speaker 1: coming from every side. This one's liable. That one's liable.
38:22
Speaker 1: Breaking news, you bunch of dicks. You're all liable. In
38:27
Speaker 1: a court filing on Monday, J.P. Morgan said it continued
38:30
Speaker 1: to do business with Mr. Epstein because it relied on Mr.
38:34
Speaker 1: Staley's representations that Mr. Epstein had turned the page on
38:38
Speaker 1: his past conduct. So his past conduct, he was fixed
38:42
Speaker 1: from that. He was no longer a molester. He was
38:45
Speaker 1: no longer a child abuser. We all know that people
38:48
Speaker 1: that do what Epstein did don't stop. What are you
38:51
Speaker 1: even talking about? He turned the page. It's not like
38:55
Speaker 1: this guy didn't pay his taxes and got nailed for that.
38:58
Speaker 1: We can all forgive that, right? Ah, yeah, the guy
39:01
Speaker 1: didn't want to pay his taxes. Shitty, but I get it.
39:04
Speaker 1: Hurting children? Trafficking women? Yeah, sorry, not the same thing.
39:10
Speaker 1: An internal review of Mr. Staley's company emails conducted by J.P.
39:14
Speaker 1: Morgan following Mr. Epstein's 2019 arrest found that the two
39:19
Speaker 1: men had shared sexually suggestive emails. Lawyers for Mr. Staley,
39:24
Speaker 1: in court papers, have said he did nothing wrong and
39:27
Speaker 1: he was unaware of any sex trafficking. by Mr. Epstein.
39:31
Speaker 1: He had no idea, folks. None of them knew anything.
39:34
Speaker 1: They had no idea. In 2021, Mr. Black resigned as
39:40
Speaker 1: chairman and chief executive of Apollo over his ties to Mr. Epstein.
39:45
Speaker 1: This year, he quietly agreed to pay $ 62. 5 million dollars
39:49
Speaker 1: to the Virgin Islands to head off a potential lawsuit
39:52
Speaker 1: that would have claimed his large payments to Mr. Epstein
39:56
Speaker 1: helped finance a sex trafficking operation in the U.S. territory.
40:00
Speaker 1: And you see why they don't use Rico, right? Because
40:03
Speaker 1: if they did, they'd have to arrest Leon Black. They'd
40:06
Speaker 1: have to arrest all of these scumbags that hold the
40:08
Speaker 1: keys to the kingdom. And when I say the keys
40:11
Speaker 1: to the kingdom, I mean the financial sector. Who do
40:14
Speaker 1: you think puts your favorite politicians in office? You think
40:18
Speaker 1: it's you? You think it's all those ballots that were
40:20
Speaker 1: sent in? No, it's not. It's these people that are
40:24
Speaker 1: pulling the strings of their puppets. They're the puppeteers. People
40:28
Speaker 1: like Leon Black, okay? So keep that in mind when
40:31
Speaker 1: you're arguing about your favorite politicians. Mr. Black is also
40:36
Speaker 1: being sued by two other women who say they were
40:39
Speaker 1: raped by him roughly two decades ago at Mr. Epstein's
40:43
Speaker 1: Manhattan townhouse.
40:44
Speaker 2: Ms.
40:44
Speaker 1: Estrich called those allegations false and frivolous. Lawyers for Mr.
40:49
Speaker 1: Epstein's survivors have estimated that he sexually abused hundreds of
40:54
Speaker 1: teenage girls and young women over two decades. More than
40:58
Speaker 1: 125 women have received $ 153 million in settlement payments from
41:00
Speaker 1: either a restitution fund set up by the estate or
41:08
Speaker 1: in deals negotiated directly by the estate, as was the
41:12
Speaker 1: case with the two women Mr. Kahn was asked about
41:16
Speaker 1: during his deposition. All right, so as you can see here,
41:19
Speaker 1: Leon Black and Jess Daly certainly aren't out of the
41:23
Speaker 1: woods when it comes to getting sued. survivors who have
41:27
Speaker 1: taken money from the survivors fund well they're still going
41:31
Speaker 1: to be able to sue jess staley and leon black
41:34
Speaker 1: according to the deposition of richard khan and that's a
41:38
Speaker 1: big development because now that means that they're personally liable
41:42
Speaker 1: for their bullshit but unfortunately it's not going to matter
41:46
Speaker 1: because at the end of the day they're just going
41:48
Speaker 1: to break out their checkbook and pay their way out
41:51
Speaker 1: of whatever trouble they find themselves in. And that's what
41:54
Speaker 1: happens when everything's civil and nothing is criminal. So here
41:58
Speaker 1: we are, talking about a SECO case that should have
42:01
Speaker 1: been a RICO case, and all of Jeffrey Epstein's pals
42:05
Speaker 1: and fellow travelers are doing nothing more than pulling out
42:08
Speaker 1: their checkbook and buying their way out of trouble, while
42:11
Speaker 1: the rest of us are left aghast, wondering if any
42:14
Speaker 1: real justice is ever going to arrive. All right, folks,
42:18
Speaker 1: that's going to wrap it up for this one. All
42:20
Speaker 1: of the information that goes with this episode can be
