- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Today we're continuing our First Impression series where we review
- 0:34Speaker 2: the pilot episode of the series streaming on Hallmark Plus.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We're watching it so you don't have to, but maybe
- 0:40Speaker 2: you should. Let's find out. Before we hop into our
- 0:44Speaker 2: discussion of Harder, a reminder that we would love for
- 0:48Speaker 2: you to follow us on Instagram where we are Girls
- 0:50Speaker 2: Gone Hallmark.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Hey, jump into our Facebook group. It's called Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It's kind of a no brainer easy to find. The
- 1:00Speaker 1: people there are super cool and super low key, non toxic,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and they just want to talk about Hallmark. So if
- 1:08Speaker 1: that's the place for you, you are welcome.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Please. And y'all have really just been making my day
- 1:16Speaker 2: with the reviews you're dropping over on Apple Podcasts. They
- 1:21Speaker 2: are flowing in. I would like to read a new
- 1:23Speaker 2: one from Don, whose review title is a great way
- 1:27Speaker 2: to start my day. Don says, my favorite morning on
- 1:30Speaker 2: my commute are the ones where a new episode of
- 1:32Speaker 2: Girls Gone Hallmark drops.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Okay, I literally laugh out loud as they talk with
- 1:38Speaker 1: each other through their latest reviews.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It feels like I'm sitting at the table with a
- 1:42Speaker 2: cup discussing the latest movies and shows. I'm in the
- 1:46Speaker 2: best move. By the time I arrive at work, I'm
- 1:49Speaker 2: so glad I discovered this podcast.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Don, Thank you. That's killer so good? Right, yeah, really good,
- 1:58Speaker 1: really really good. I'm like, well, lucky for Don. I
- 2:01Speaker 1: mean she gets an episode nearly every single day of
- 2:04Speaker 1: the week.
- 2:04Speaker 2: So yes, and you know, if you're burning out on Hallmark,
- 2:08Speaker 2: We've got new stuff coming for.
- 2:09Speaker 1: You, so keep your ears pealed for that. Yes, let's
- 2:14Speaker 1: talk about Carter. You know what's funny. People are probably going, oh,
- 2:19Speaker 1: wtf is Carter? Right, this is nothing that's ever been
- 2:24Speaker 1: like promoted on a Hallmark channel. I mean maybe it's
- 2:28Speaker 1: been promoted maybe that it's on Hallmark Plus. But other
- 2:32Speaker 1: than that, this never aired on Hallmark channel, right.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I don't think so. However, if you do have the
- 2:38Speaker 2: Hallmark Plus platform, I feel like I'd come across it
- 2:41Speaker 2: all the time, like I just is always popping up
- 2:43Speaker 2: for me.
- 2:44Speaker 1: They're like, hey, this is a show for you.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah. But before we before we get into Carter just
- 2:50Speaker 2: real quick, Yeah, real quick. They Hallmark Plus just dropped
- 2:55Speaker 2: a new yes, five seasons of a show called Private
- 3:01Speaker 2: Eyes with Jason Priestley. Yes, I our next First Impression.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Well, I don't know when we're going to do more
- 3:10Speaker 1: First Impression episodes. You know, obviously we've done them all
- 3:14Speaker 1: this month, but I'm like, I want it to be
- 3:19Speaker 1: on the docket because you know how I love a
- 3:22Speaker 1: Jason Priestley.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I know that was shared in our Facebook group, and
- 3:26Speaker 2: as soon as I saw that Jason Priesley was in it,
- 3:28Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, we're going to have to add
- 3:30Speaker 2: it to the list. You know, a little behind the
- 3:32Speaker 2: scenes here for the listeners. I'm sure they know we
- 3:35Speaker 2: added this First Impression series because the May Hallmark season
- 3:39Speaker 2: was so light and so we don't know what's coming
- 3:42Speaker 2: month to month, Like we don't know how much content
- 3:44Speaker 2: they're giving us and when we're going to have to
- 3:46Speaker 2: do filler. So First Impressions could be like a Hey,
- 3:50Speaker 2: there's a week where there's nothing, let's do a First
- 3:52Speaker 2: Impressions episode, Or it could be like another, Hey, here's
- 3:55Speaker 2: a month we got nothing for you, and we gotta
- 3:57Speaker 2: fill it. So it remains to be seen, but First
- 4:00Speaker 2: Impressions will continue. We just don't have a current airdate
- 4:06Speaker 2: plan because we don't get homemark schedule far enough in
- 4:09Speaker 2: advance to do that.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, And if you guys like the First Impression episodes
- 4:14Speaker 1: and you want us to review a pilot of something
- 4:18Speaker 1: that you love that you want us to watch, please
- 4:21Speaker 1: email us Girlsmark at gmail dot com, Like we would
- 4:24Speaker 1: love to hear what you guys want. I mean, how
- 4:26Speaker 1: excited do you think they are for Sue Thomas FBI
- 4:29Speaker 1: next week?
- 4:30Speaker 2: Probably as much as I am. Well, let's talk about Carter.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Can I tell you a few things about this series? Yes,
- 4:40Speaker 2: Carter is a crime comedy drama and it originally it's
- 4:45Speaker 2: a Canadian show and it originally aired on CTV Starting
- 4:48Speaker 2: on May eighteenth, twenty eighteen, the airing rights were acquired
- 4:52Speaker 2: by WGN America. I remember WGN, I do, Wasn't that
- 4:57Speaker 2: like a Chicago station? Yeah, And it began airing the
- 5:02Speaker 2: series in the United States shortly after its Canadian debut,
- 5:05Speaker 2: so both seasons were available in the United States as
- 5:09Speaker 2: well as in Canada. WGN was actually the network responsible
- 5:12Speaker 2: for renewing Carter for season two. It ran for a
- 5:16Speaker 2: total of twenty episodes and both of those seasons. All
- 5:20Speaker 2: twenty episodes are currently streaming on Hallmark Plus.
- 5:23Speaker 1: So here's a synopsis. This is. In the pilot episode
- 5:27Speaker 1: of Carter, it says Harley Carter returns to his Ontario
- 5:32Speaker 1: hometown after a public scandal, only to find that his
- 5:35Speaker 1: housekeeper has been accused of murder. Utilizing his experience from
- 5:40Speaker 1: playing a detective on television, Harley teams up with his
- 5:44Speaker 1: childhood friends to solve the case and clear his housekeeper's name.
- 5:49Speaker 2: For some news and notes about Carter, Gary Campbell created
- 5:52Speaker 2: the series Carter. In addition to Carter, word I keep
- 5:56Speaker 2: saying over and over again. Gary has written on the
- 5:58Speaker 2: Jamie Kennedy e Mad TV and North of North, which
- 6:02Speaker 2: is a currently airing series on Netflix.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Jerry O'Connell plays our lead, Harley Carter. Jerry got a
- 6:11Speaker 1: start in the movie Stand By Me, and his career
- 6:14Speaker 1: has included one hundred and thirty seven acting projects. He's
- 6:19Speaker 1: been in iconic movies like Jerry maguire cush here do
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about? I think that's what
- 6:25Speaker 1: he says when he answers the phone. He's like the
- 6:27Speaker 1: football player, right, right, y Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I love
- 6:30Speaker 1: that movie. He was also in Can't Hardly Wait, as
- 6:34Speaker 1: well as TV series like Sliders, Crossing Jordan, and Star Trek,
- 6:39Speaker 1: Lower Decks FYI. Jerry O'Connell is also a big Bravo fan.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Huge heay, that's fun. Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Sidney to Mia Poitier, daughter of Sidney Poitier, plays Detective
- 6:56Speaker 2: Sam Shaw. Her resume of thirty eight acting projects includes
- 6:59Speaker 2: other crime dramas like Hawaii five O and Chicago p D.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Christian Brune plays Dave Lee. He has a long list
- 7:05Speaker 2: of acting credits and has been in some Hallmark projects
- 7:08Speaker 2: like Crashing Through the Snow and Good Witch. Brenda Kamino
- 7:12Speaker 2: plays Dot Yasuda. Brenda also appeared in The Glass Castle,
- 7:15Speaker 2: the movie, and the series You're Never Alone.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Dennis Akiyama plays Kogi Yasuda. Dennis sadly passed away in
- 7:23Speaker 1: twenty eighteen and only appears in six episodes of this series.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Let's take a quick break, and we're gonna come right
- 7:31Speaker 2: back with our first impression of Carter. All Right, Wendy,
- 7:42Speaker 2: let's talk. What's your first take on this series?
- 7:44Speaker 1: Having watched the pilot, well, I thought the pio Okay,
- 7:49Speaker 1: hear me out for a second. I thought the pilot
- 7:51Speaker 1: episode overall was okay. There were there were funny moments,
- 7:57Speaker 1: funny dialogue. I'm gonna talk about that in Just the
- 8:00Speaker 1: Little Bit too. I wasn't especially interested in that mystery
- 8:04Speaker 1: that they were trying to solve. No, like, I wasn't
- 8:06Speaker 1: like invested, but there were elements throughout the episode that
- 8:11Speaker 1: kept me interested. I wasn't like bored by any means.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But what got me was the last freaking ninety seconds
- 8:19Speaker 1: of this show where he's looking at a murder board
- 8:23Speaker 1: in his house about his missing mother. I was like, Oh,
- 8:27Speaker 1: now I'm intrigued. Now I'm intrigued.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I agree.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I loved that little hint at what's to come and
- 8:35Speaker 1: his perhaps motivation for wanting to take on this consulting
- 8:40Speaker 1: job with the police. I like you agree that I
- 8:44Speaker 1: wasn't super invested in the mystery. However, I was very
- 8:48Speaker 1: interested in the character of Harley Carter himself, and I
- 8:51Speaker 1: really wanted more about him. So other than that first video, which,
- 8:58Speaker 1: by the way, I gotta say, I did, I love
- 9:00Speaker 1: the opening TMZ style video, saying, especially after last week's
- 9:06Speaker 1: when calls the Heart, it's not a knock on when
- 9:07Speaker 1: calls the Heart.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I was just prime for something edgier and snappier, and
- 9:11Speaker 2: so I was like, yes, this is fun, give it
- 9:14Speaker 2: to me. And I love like celebrity drama like that anyway.
- 9:18Speaker 2: But other than that, and then there's a little bit
- 9:21Speaker 2: of a discussion he has with his friends about how
- 9:24Speaker 2: he found his wife with another man. There's not a
- 9:26Speaker 2: whole lot discussed about his actual life drama. Brooke Nevin
- 9:32Speaker 2: does go on to play his wife in two episodes
- 9:34Speaker 2: of this series, and so it does seem like there's
- 9:37Speaker 2: some closure coming, but it also feels like a very
- 9:40Speaker 2: loose end that's dangling here, and I want to know
- 9:43Speaker 2: more about that. How we're gonna wrap that up. I
- 9:46Speaker 2: know the story is like Harley and his new life
- 9:49Speaker 2: as a police consultant. I get that, but I'm like, oh,
- 9:54Speaker 2: tell me more about the drama in your life, Like
- 9:57Speaker 2: let's meet your wife, what happened there, what's going on
- 9:59Speaker 2: with your mom? Like I'm so interested in all these
- 10:02Speaker 2: other things that are happening.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Then the mystery that they give us, right, yeah, but
- 10:07Speaker 1: that's it's always going to be secondary. Like CSI is
- 10:12Speaker 1: not the Salan Order SVU, like people are tuning in
- 10:16Speaker 1: for the two main characters whose names I do not know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: but Marishka Hargatea and the other dude. Yeah, like you
- 10:22Speaker 1: care about them and how they're managing the solving of
- 10:26Speaker 1: the crime. You're not like as invested in like the
- 10:29Speaker 1: week to week crime stress of it all. I don't, Yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I don't. Yeah. I think we talked about this with
- 10:36Speaker 1: sigin Stiel delivered too, and I know it's a completely
- 10:39Speaker 1: different show, but the mysteries are always secondary and I'm
- 10:42Speaker 1: fully invested in the four main characters.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, of course. So yeah, it's called Carter,
- 10:49Speaker 2: not Murder of the Week.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, exactly. So speaking of Carter, I freaking love
- 10:54Speaker 1: Jerry O'Connell. Me too. He first of all, if I may,
- 10:58Speaker 1: he's just one of those dudes that continues to look
- 11:01Speaker 1: better as he gets older, which is so unfaked. It's
- 11:05Speaker 1: annoying freaking fifties. Yeah. Like, but I really liked his
- 11:10Speaker 1: character of Harley as well, and like you said, I'm
- 11:13Speaker 1: interested in what his backstory is like as a teenager,
- 11:20Speaker 1: but then also as like an actor leaving Hollywood. It's
- 11:27Speaker 1: it's working for me. Yeah. I also thought It was
- 11:32Speaker 1: very funny how he brings Harley brings his acting experience
- 11:38Speaker 1: to this crime that he's trying to solve with his friend,
- 11:42Speaker 1: Detective sam Shaw. But at the end, considering the end
- 11:46Speaker 1: piece of it, I was like, huh, because I don't
- 11:50Speaker 1: know if you looked closely at like the news articles
- 11:53Speaker 1: that they were showing on the wall, but it was
- 11:56Speaker 1: there was a picture of like him and his teenage
- 11:59Speaker 1: friends sam Shaw and Dave Lee, and it was like
- 12:03Speaker 1: teenage teenage crime solver or something like that, which was him.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And I was like, Okay, well, what came first? Like, yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 1: did the acting come first? Or did the crime solving
- 12:16Speaker 1: come first? Like do you know what I'm talking about? Yeah?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Or was he like into crime solving and then his
- 12:22Speaker 2: mother goes missing and now he gets to apply those
- 12:24Speaker 2: skills or was his mother going missing the catalyst that
- 12:27Speaker 2: made him interested in all.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Of that exactly exactly. It's enough there though for me
- 12:34Speaker 1: to go, Okay, all right, let me see what you
- 12:36Speaker 1: have next. So another thing I really liked about it
- 12:41Speaker 1: was the clever quick dialogue. I mean, you and I
- 12:46Speaker 1: raised on Gilmore Girls, so this is a speed we like, right.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I really enjoyed that, and then I really enjoyed some
- 12:54Speaker 1: meta moments where like Harley would to say, well, this
- 12:57Speaker 1: is where a commercial break would go.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yeah, this is did you hear that?
- 13:02Speaker 1: That's the music? That's plain?
- 13:03Speaker 2: I thought that was very clever and funny. Yeah, I
- 13:08Speaker 2: liked it.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I liked it a lot.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. I really liked our team of detectives,
- 13:13Speaker 2: Harley and his childhood buddies Sam and Dave. However, I'm
- 13:19Speaker 2: gonna let me say the whole thing. I find it
- 13:21Speaker 2: super implausible that the chief actually offers him a consulting
- 13:24Speaker 2: job as oh of course. However, as a viewer, that's
- 13:30Speaker 2: easier to accept than someone who just bumbles their way
- 13:33Speaker 2: into helping solve crimes. It just happens to be crime
- 13:35Speaker 2: adjacent all the time, like Hannah Spenson. And it's very
- 13:39Speaker 2: similar to the show High Potential, which I know you
- 13:42Speaker 2: have seen and liked, where this super smart woman is
- 13:45Speaker 2: offered this police consulting job even as she was a
- 13:50Speaker 2: housekeeper in the police department. Would happen to like accidentally
- 13:52Speaker 2: solve a crime and they're like, you're come work with us.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I mean, of course that's not gonna happen, but it
- 13:57Speaker 2: gives us a way to get these people and working
- 14:01Speaker 2: in a logical way. So I'm willing to let it go.
- 14:05Speaker 1: It's so funny that you bring up that shows. What's
- 14:08Speaker 1: it called again, High Potential?
- 14:09Speaker 2: I was trying to think, I'm like, what is.
- 14:12Speaker 1: This show comparable to you? Because I wanted to tell
- 14:14Speaker 1: listeners who are not familiar with Carter, like, what is
- 14:17Speaker 1: this show comparable to? And so I did a Google search,
- 14:21Speaker 1: Actually I asked chat GPT and it said that Psych,
- 14:25Speaker 1: the show Psych was a comparable equivalent. And I actually
- 14:32Speaker 1: think High Potential is an equivalent to it as well.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I do too. I do too.
- 14:36Speaker 1: So if you like those kind of shows, like this
- 14:39Speaker 1: is that kind.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Of show, And in High Potential, she has the same
- 14:42Speaker 2: ulterior motivation where she's looking for the father of her
- 14:47Speaker 2: eldest child, like that person has gone missing and she
- 14:50Speaker 2: believes there's more to that story. So they both have
- 14:55Speaker 2: this external motivation to their detective right right, all right,
- 15:00Speaker 2: anything else before we move on to the Hallmark test?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Nope?
- 15:04Speaker 2: All right, well let's talk is it giving Hallmark? Look,
- 15:08Speaker 2: I think there are some minor elements that we see
- 15:11Speaker 2: repeated in like a Hallmark mystery here.
- 15:14Speaker 1: But for me.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Mostly this is not passing the Hallmark test. That's not
- 15:18Speaker 2: a negative. There are questions about Harley and Sam hooking
- 15:22Speaker 2: up drunk at a holiday party that obviously we wouldn't
- 15:25Speaker 2: see in our standard Hallmark fair. Harley uses the lying,
- 15:28Speaker 2: tiny little hate crime to describe a lawn jockey, which
- 15:31Speaker 2: a I thought was hilarious and be like, casual racism
- 15:34Speaker 2: is not called out super blatantly and Hallmark either. I
- 15:40Speaker 2: caught that, So I just think it's edgier than your
- 15:44Speaker 2: standard Hallmark Fair. That said, I don't think it's offensive
- 15:48Speaker 2: in any way. It's certainly not like premium cable offensive,
- 15:53Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Like, we live in a
- 15:54Speaker 2: world of streaming, so when I think of like anything
- 15:59Speaker 2: goes on streaming now, but when I think back to
- 16:01Speaker 2: my younger years, like, it's not an HBO level show, No,
- 16:06Speaker 2: it's like a basic cable level programming exactly things they
- 16:11Speaker 2: can get away with exactly.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I thought. In terms of the Hallmark test, I was like, Okay, yes,
- 16:16Speaker 1: there's elements we have like a small town setting and
- 16:19Speaker 1: we have this protagonist who returns home to rediscover himself
- 16:23Speaker 1: or whatever. Right, But like you said, like there were
- 16:26Speaker 1: some little moments like there was some edgier dialogue that
- 16:31Speaker 1: at one point says something about like sleeping with Lucy
- 16:33Speaker 1: Lou and I was like, they would never ever say
- 16:37Speaker 1: that on Hallmark. So but I wanted to be clear,
- 16:41Speaker 1: like I'm not like grabbing my pearls, like.
- 16:44Speaker 2: No either, no no, no, no, no, no no.
- 16:47Speaker 1: This was so mild on so many levels. I think
- 16:51Speaker 1: it's highly enjoyable. Nobody is going to be offended by anything.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Agree, Agree, All right, let's talk about the cast.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Okay. I was enjoying Harley and Sam. There are characters,
- 17:06Speaker 1: but it was the addition of Dave that took it
- 17:09Speaker 1: to the next level. For huh when Harley tries When
- 17:13Speaker 1: Harley figures out that he needs like a I don't
- 17:18Speaker 1: I can't remember what he called it, what the agent
- 17:20Speaker 1: called it. The agent was liking it to his character
- 17:23Speaker 1: having like a right hand band to help him or whatever,
- 17:26Speaker 1: right kick, a sidekick, and then he's like, oh, I
- 17:29Speaker 1: know who to call, which is funny because obviously, like
- 17:32Speaker 1: he has deep relationships with these people. It's not a
- 17:36Speaker 1: random like dude you went to school with Anyway.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I thought it was great.
- 17:41Speaker 1: The whole scene where he goes to Dave and Dave's
- 17:43Speaker 1: setting up his coffee car or whatever. Whole scene so good,
- 17:48Speaker 1: so funny. Well, and I love the backstory about how
- 17:51Speaker 1: he had like co opted Dave's character to use in
- 17:54Speaker 1: his show. Totally.
- 17:56Speaker 2: That's so funny. I am glad you brought up Dave
- 18:00Speaker 2: Christian brun He's given me real dandy Jaeger vibes.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, who is a character who excuse me,
- 18:08Speaker 1: an actor who I really enjoy on screen. And I
- 18:11Speaker 1: was getting the same, like, oh yeah, I really like
- 18:13Speaker 1: this like buddy sidekick role for him.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I think the three of them are really well balanced out.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I agree, and by that I mean Dave and Harley
- 18:22Speaker 2: and Sam. I really like the three of them together,
- 18:25Speaker 2: with the exception of Jerry O'Connell. This cast was all
- 18:28Speaker 2: new to me, and I thought it was a good mix.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I'm a big fan of our sassy Dot Yasuda.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Oh same.
- 18:39Speaker 2: However, I'm preemptively sad that we are going to have
- 18:41Speaker 2: to deal with the loss of Dennis Akayama as Kogi Yasuda.
- 18:46Speaker 2: If you look at the IMDb, Dot is in thirteen
- 18:49Speaker 2: episodes and Dennis is in six, So I mean, I
- 18:54Speaker 2: could understand why they wouldn't necessarily need to be in
- 18:57Speaker 2: every episode. But obviously we are going to deal with
- 19:00Speaker 2: Dennis's loss, and I am I'm a little like premptively
- 19:04Speaker 2: nervous about that, like knowing that it's coming.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It's like, you know, how did I handle that? Well?
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, like if you're a west Wing watcher, especially I
- 19:12Speaker 2: did not watch West Wing in real time. Uh, and
- 19:16Speaker 2: Leo dies during the filming of that show and they
- 19:19Speaker 2: got to deal with it, and knowing that it's coming
- 19:24Speaker 2: is a hard watch. So not quite the same level
- 19:29Speaker 2: of Grandma here, but I it's it's sad to know.
- 19:33Speaker 1: That's sad.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Sad any more.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Casting thoughts, I you know what, we didn't talk about him,
- 19:39Speaker 1: but that the actor who plays Harley's agent who comes
- 19:43Speaker 1: to do and basically I thought he was very funny.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And the scene where he was trying to.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Do like a one turn or what if I say
- 19:53Speaker 2: they won't what you say they will? That scene, I laughed.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I just thought it was so funny.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I thought it was funny too, although I was like, Harley,
- 20:03Speaker 2: everyone's replaceable, man, I'm like, they will absolutely drop your
- 20:07Speaker 2: ass for disappearing like this.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it was funny because at the beginning where he's like,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I'm not in Hollywood, I'm in Canada, And I was like,
- 20:15Speaker 1: why would they have him run off to Canada? But now,
- 20:17Speaker 1: of course it makes sense because that's where his hometown.
- 20:20Speaker 1: So yes, no shade to Canada. I just was like,
- 20:24Speaker 1: that's why would he rent a The Bally Show? Yeah?
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, why wouldn't he rent a BALI all right,
- 20:30Speaker 2: keep it or skip it, Wendy, I would keep it.
- 20:33Speaker 1: It's twenty episodes. Yeah, so funny. That's such that's such
- 20:39Speaker 1: a key factor. It's well, especially for like something like
- 20:43Speaker 1: Wynn calls the Heart last last week. I'm like, yeah,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'm not gonna watch one hundred and fifty episodes or
- 20:48Speaker 1: whatever it is.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I'm not doing it, But I kid you twenty and.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I don't have to be like that invested in the
- 20:55Speaker 1: mystery part of it. I just want to see what
- 20:57Speaker 1: happens with Carter, so agree to keep.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yeah, my feeling was, I don't feel compelled to immediately
- 21:04Speaker 2: binge this series. I think if we're like ranking these
- 21:07Speaker 2: in terms of the four first impressions we've done, the
- 21:11Speaker 2: show that made me want to keep watching more immediately
- 21:14Speaker 2: of all of these, with Chesapeake Shores. Absolutely. However, I
- 21:18Speaker 2: am curious about a lot of things, including Harley. They
- 21:22Speaker 2: talk about did they or did they not hook up
- 21:24Speaker 2: at this holiday party, and she's like, no, we didn't.
- 21:26Speaker 2: But I thought, is she lying? Is she lying? I
- 21:29Speaker 2: wondered about that. It's also the kind of show that
- 21:32Speaker 2: I think is so easy to throw on when you
- 21:34Speaker 2: need like a low stakes entertainment distraction. It's easy to
- 21:38Speaker 2: watch a couple episodes here and there and it's not
- 21:41Speaker 2: you know me, it's not stressful, it's not going to
- 21:44Speaker 2: make you cry. M So it's a it's a mild
- 21:49Speaker 2: keep it for me awesome. Hey, thanks for listening to
- 21:53Speaker 2: this episode of Girls Gone Homework or Bramble Jam Podcast.
- 21:55Speaker 2: That's it for our first impressions. Now go for them
- 21:58Speaker 2: your own. We'll be back with more or homework reviews
- 22:00Speaker 2: next time. Goodbye.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Bye.
- 22:15Speaker 2: All right friends, before we go, just a quick heads up.
- 22:17Speaker 2: You're about to hear some ads. These little gems help
- 22:19Speaker 2: us keep the show running and the Hallmark love flowing.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So do with that info what you will, Grab a snack,
- 22:26Speaker 2: hit the skip button, or maybe just maybe listen in
- 22:29Speaker 2: and discover your new favorite product. Bye.
