- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30We are continuing our series on stress and we're talking about
- 0:35filling yourself back up. So what do I mean?
- 0:38When I say filling yourself back up?
- 0:41Well, I'm talking about doing the things for you that make you
- 0:44happy that, you know, are healthy for you.
- 0:48I'm not talking about filling yourself back up with things
- 0:50that are not healthy for you. I'm talking about the things
- 0:53that are good for you, good for your soul, things that make you
- 0:56feel great. And I think an important aspect
- 1:00Act of stress is to understand how to fill yourself back up,
- 1:05because a big component of stress is not understanding how
- 1:09draining it is on your soul, when you keep doing it every
- 1:13day, every day, every day. Every day now granted, let's be
- 1:17very clear. Stress happens.
- 1:18Even in the most prepared moments, myself included, there
- 1:22are moments of stress. I am not a stress-free person,
- 1:26but I am someone who can pivot quickly out of it.
- 1:28I'm someone who can work through it.
- 1:30And I'm definitely someone who has set my life up to have as
- 1:34little stress as I possibly can by being prepared, understanding
- 1:39how to schedule. And looking at things just like
- 1:41last night, I had a client who requested a session that was
- 1:44very late past my time zone. I don't book a session that
- 1:48starts at 7 p.m. because it's way too much for me.
- 1:51And I know I'm not mentally capable of doing it.
- 1:54So, rather than getting stressed out about the fact that I had to
- 1:57say no to them. What I basically just said, was,
- 2:00I'm sorry. Sorry, I'm just no good at at 7
- 2:02p.m. I won't be mentally present, so
- 2:05we can't do it. Then we have to find another
- 2:07time and that's the truth. And when you tell the truth, it
- 2:11takes away a huge moment of fear in something because I'm not
- 2:18going to show up well. Now, granted, do I think she's
- 2:20going to go somewhere else? No, because I'm telling the
- 2:23truth and I want to give her the best possible experience I can
- 2:27and she knows that. So we're going to work on that
- 2:29today too. You're out something of a time
- 2:31for her but in but in any event back to filling yourself back
- 2:36up, one of the most important things that you can do is look
- 2:41for the things that fill you up. One of the reasons that I record
- 2:45out here in the chicken coop and that I have these chickens to
- 2:48begin with is because they bring me so much joy.
- 2:52You know, I had them when I was a child and it was disastrous,
- 2:56it was great in the beginning and then it ended in a very,
- 2:59very disastrous. Way and they were all killed by
- 3:03a neighbor's dog and I so I was so sad and I so wanted to do it
- 3:08again and have more of them and my mother was absolutely
- 3:12insistent that we not do it because she said no this is the
- 3:15dog is still there. The dog is going to do it again
- 3:18and I'm like, well, can't we have it in a place where they
- 3:20won't get to him? Know the answer was just no, and
- 3:24we didn't have chickens again and from my whole life, from the
- 3:26time I was 6 years old until the time I am now.
- 3:31I want two chickens. I talked about it because it
- 3:34filled me back up, it made me happy having them and there was
- 3:39just something about them, and unless you have them, you don't
- 3:41understand it, that you just look at them, like they're
- 3:44chickens, but when you have them and you understand their
- 3:46personalities, their quirky, they're fun.
- 3:49And for me, I can walk out into this chicken coop, which is why
- 3:52I record from here and watch them.
- 3:55And they're like, little quirky beings, and they have all their
- 3:59own personalities each And has their own personalities and they
- 4:04bring me joy. So because of that, it fills me
- 4:08back up having plants. Another thing that fills me back
- 4:12up gardening, fills me back up, painting fills me, backup
- 4:16cameras and taking pictures. Huge thing for me about filling
- 4:19me back up. Huge huge, I have an iPhone and
- 4:24I have constant picture-taking throughout my day.
- 4:27All the little things around me that I can you Use to take
- 4:32pictures of if I see a feather on the ground and it looks cool.
- 4:35I'll take a picture of it and those are moments of mindfulness
- 4:39that I capture visually for myself.
- 4:42And I can put those in my phone, revisit those throughout the
- 4:45day, which I do. And funny enough, my family has
- 4:48a habit of grabbing an iPad at night and looking at pictures
- 4:52all the time. So we have probably I think I'm
- 4:55up to 80,000 photos legitimately in iPhone and not Just in my
- 5:01iPhone but in the cloud and my family will scan through them
- 5:04because I basically record life for us but that feels me back up
- 5:11and that's the point doing those things.
- 5:13Having that list of stuff simply coloring putting Play-Doh out on
- 5:17a table. Those are moments to fill
- 5:20yourself back up, bring you back to Childhood.
- 5:23You want to try something fun by six pack of Play-Doh.
- 5:26Keep it on the kitchen counter and watch how people just dive
- 5:29into it, random. Lee, they'll just pick it up and
- 5:31start playing with it. I have cards on my counter, the
- 5:35quiz cards, like, you know, Trivial Pursuit cards but
- 5:38they're they're more like brainbuster cards.
- 5:40But years ago, we went to a bar and they always had Trivial
- 5:43Pursuit cards on the bar and I always thought gosh, that's so
- 5:47much fun. I love that and just started
- 5:49doing it in our own house and it, you'd be so surprised the
- 5:53kids gravitate to it, our neighbors kids walk in, and grab
- 5:56cards, and start reading the questions right away to see if
- 5:59they know, These are things that fill me back up, so I don't have
- 6:05to feel like I'm constantly giving giving giving giving
- 6:08giving giving giving and not filling back up.
- 6:11But it, the trick to, this is notice, I am not waiting for
- 6:14someone else to fill me back up. I am filling me back up.
- 6:18And this is where a lot of our stress comes from because we
- 6:21wait for other people to fill us back up.
- 6:23Sure. Is it nice one.
- 6:25My husband does something very kind for me.
- 6:27You better believe it is and I'm thrilled with it.
- 6:30Is it nice on my son? Does it?
- 6:31Absolutely my daughter 100%, but I don't just wait for those
- 6:36moments. I participate in my own rescue
- 6:38and film myself back up. Because when I'm doing that,
- 6:42then I'm more likable and then I'm likely to have somebody else
- 6:45want to film me back up to, because if I'm just depleted all
- 6:48the time, nobody wants to fill you back up.
- 6:51So work on this focus on it, find out what your little things
- 6:56are, they can be as simple as cooking.
- 6:58They can be as simple as sitting and reading In A Book Like a
- 7:01real book. What a concept whatever it might
- 7:04be do it. Figure it out.
- 7:06I'm not saying you gotta go out and get 47 chickens like I did
- 7:09but what I'm saying is find your thing, find your things have a
- 7:13list. So it's right there at your
- 7:15fingertips. Just like my iPhone is when I
- 7:17take the pictures and hopefully you work today on billing
- 7:20yourself back up. Okay, guys.
- 7:22I will see you tomorrow and I hope you have a blessed day.
- 7:26Bye.
