- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: So right now we are talking parker Washington Parker Washington
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: This is the Parker Washington show.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: Right now we're talking, I believe the Jaguar is Will, extend Parker Washington before training camp.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's just my best guess based on how this regime has operated since they've gotten here.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about,
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: why I believe that we're going to talk about what I think the contract could actually look like and then what I actually expect from Parker Washington from a production standpoint in 2026.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited to get into it.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is one of those homegrown guys where selected what fifth round six round six round pick 187 overall in 2023.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a great success story.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to get into it.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate you all being here.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: So Parker Washington is 24 years old.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Just turn 24.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty crazy.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: And in March, turn 24.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: So his entire four season in the league, he's going to be 24 years old.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Um, if he gets a new contract, that new contract would be starting in 2027, the extension would start 2027.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: So he would be 25, his entire first year of a new contract, which, again, he was just a very young player entering the league.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: And so, um, I think that it's fair to predict that there is more to his game than we
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: incredible.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: Basically, once he became a full-time player for the Jack Wars off-inch offense, which was around week seven, I would say not around week seven.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: It was week seven.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: He took off.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: He absolutely took off.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, during that stretch, let's see here.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: He was 11th in the NFL
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: He was 12th in receiving touchdowns.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: He was 16th in catches.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: So if you extrapolate week 11 through the wildcard round, his numbers projected over a 17 game season from that stretch where he actually became a actual starter.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: 80 catches over 1,200 yards, almost 8 touchdowns would be the projected total based on what we've seen so far.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's also fair to say, look, you can't just take a 11-game sample size and say that that's what's going to be the future.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he can put up numbers really similar to that and I think he can play with the same level of efficiency that he played with during that stretch.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: He caught 65% of his contested targets during that stretch.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: He dropped a couple of balls, dropped rate was slightly high at 7.1%, but nothing to
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: really, you know, get concerned about.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: He averaged 15 yards per catch, which was, let's see here.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: Among starting, you know, full-time players during that stretch, that was 10th in the NFL.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: So again, just, and part of what made him so fun to watch was he could go up and get the deep ball down the field over the middle.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: He could take a short, quick completion, make a guy miss, go get more yards, and he could take a big hit over the middle, too, and the intermediate area of the field.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: So he was really doing it all.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: It was yak.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was, um,
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: forcing Miss Tackles.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: It was going up and getting the football.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: It was all there.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm excited for Parker Washington.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars are excited about Parker Washington.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a player that I think does everything the way this regime wants it to be done in terms of like,
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: The way he works at football, the way he takes care of his body, the high energy excitement that he brings to the field from his personality and from the way he plays the game, the effort that he plays with and practices with and studies with.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is an exemplary Jaguar.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously,
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: If you're just taking an 11 game sample size and projecting it forward, yeah, that's tough, but we've also been seeing him play this way throughout practice for years now.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: He finally got his opportunity and he took it and ran with it.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about that.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think the Jaguars are going to extend him before the season.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think they know that if he has the type of impact that they want him to have this year, it's going to be difficult to bring him back.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: is similar to what they did with Britain's strange, where they give this player, who they really value, they give them a floor, a nice floor, a comfy floor with the base salary, right?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange got $12 million base salary, which puts him in the top 10 at the position at Titan.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you're getting Parker Washington inside the top 10 at receiver.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: That would put him close to that $30 million per year mark.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: And now a lot of people have referenced the Christian Watson contract that was just signed.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: That is a, in my opinion, outlier contract for a player who has, is off-ended to say the least.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: But he got 23 million per year.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: But the thing is, it's basically one and a half years guarantee.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's not even two years of that contract guaranteed.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: The packers could get out of that contract after the first year.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: If they want to do a post-June one cut and save a ton of cap space.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: So it really is, in my opinion, an outlier type of deal and a fake number at 23 million per year.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's my opinion on that deal.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not referencing that all that much.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm referencing other contracts that were signed this off season, more in line with what I think here.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Jaden Reed is got 1675 Rashid Shahid is at 17, Romeo dobs at 17, one-dale Robbins and at 17, five, Michael Pittman Jr at 17, five.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: This is the range where I think the Jaguars will attack.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: Um, my best guess would be 16, five, base.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: with the ability for that to become like 20 to 22 million dollars per year based on incentives based on those accelerators or accelerators.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: That is exactly what they did with Britain's strange.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like Britain's strange is a base of 12 can earn up to 16 million per year.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: So the cool thing about that contract structure is again, it gives him a nice floor, a very healthy floor, for what he's going to earn.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: But it also gives him the ability to bet on himself.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: and make a lot more, because at 12 million, he's like a top 10 paid tight-end, right?
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: At 16 million, I think he's like third among all tight-ends.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I would say for Parker,
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the $16 million to $17 million range, again, gives you a really good floor, like your a valued member of this football team without question.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: But if it could get up to 20 to 22, maybe even 23 million per year on a real contract, not the Christian Watson contract, or maybe even higher.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: I, that's my best guess for how they're trying to structure this contract.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they're going to get it done.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think Parker wants to be here.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: I also think, you know, Britain's training in Parker Washington, same draft class, same team, right?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: They both played at Penn State together.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: They have a real bond together.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think they both have a real bond with Trevor Lawrence too.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the jag wars are going to extend Parker in the good thing about the wider seaver room.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: is, you know, yes, they're paying to Kobe 20 million per year for the next couple of years at least.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then after that, you're not really paying anybody.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, Travis Hunter's making a decent amount like 11 million per year, but he's also a corner.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, you don't really feel bad about that.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have BTJ, you have Parker, and a bunch of young guys.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: that aren't getting paid much at all.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: So you can very reasonably pay Parker, what we're talking about, and pay Jacobi, and you don't have to worry about a BTJ contract extension if it gets to that point.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: If he is playing the way I expect him to play this year until the Jacobi contract is pretty much done.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Brian Thomas Jr. is under contract,
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be his third year, 2026, his fourth year, 2027, and then you can do the fifth year option for 2028.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: My best guess would be if things are going well with the Brian Thomas Junior kind of like glow up here and revamp of how he was playing, trying to get back to the 2024 Brian Thomas Junior and even better than the 2024 Brian Thomas Junior in terms of an execution assignment, sounds standpoint.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: If things are going well in that regard, you would pick up the fifth year option which they would be doing that next off-season.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then before the fifth year, get that extension done, but the new money in that from a contract standpoint does not hit until 2029.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: So you're in the clear of all these contracts.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like it just stacks up and makes sense.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that's how I would operate.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: I would definitely get a Parker Washington deal done this off season, and I think that they will.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're gonna do it before training camp.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of where I'm at with the entire Parker Washington situation.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Other players that I think could be in consideration for extensions Antonio Johnson, Ventral Miller, although Ventral they might wanna see it a little bit more.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: But I think they could get a really cheap deal in ventral.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, Devon Hamilton obviously is a critical piece to that defense.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they drafted Albert Regis, fairly high on day two.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: But Devon is just arguably the best run defending nose tackle in football.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I'm excited to see what they do in between now and the start of training camp, which, you know, less than a month away.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: about four weeks.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: So, excited to see again what the Jack Wars end up doing here with Parker.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to get done.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.
