- 0:01Welcome to authentic living with Roxanne, a place where we have conscious conversations
- 0:08about things that really matter in our lives.
- 0:12And now here's your host, Roxanne Derhodge.
- 0:38Hi, everyone.
- 0:38It's up Roxanne.
- 0:39How are you this week?
- 0:41This week, I have, someone that I recently met, about, I guess, about 2 months ago.
- 0:47And, I sat with Jennifer at, at, at, meeting for, the Canadian speakers association and
- 0:55ready was you know, intrigued by what she did and, thought it would be a good compliment, to
- 1:01to my show.
- 1:02So, Jennifer, thanks so much for being here today.
- 1:05Oh, so much fun to be here with you.
- 1:07What a great way to start off the day.
- 1:10Awesome.
- 1:11So I'm gonna read a little bit about Jennifer and, why I was intrigued with she's an she is
- 1:17an intuitive business coach.
- 1:19So that when she said that, I went, woah, what What is that?
- 1:22And I can just even feel by her presence sitting next to her that things were a bit
- 1:27different.
- 1:28She helps established females entrepreneurs step into an energetic upward cycle higher high
- 1:35vibration leading to more opportunities, better clients, and a huge expansion of impact and
- 1:42income.
- 1:43She helps you to realign your soul heart and mind to clearly see what you to do in your
- 1:50life, your business, and your relationships.
- 1:54Awesome.
- 1:56This allows you to confidently make decisions live like life authentically and run a business
- 2:01that bills you up and energizes you.
- 2:05When Jennifer's not working, she loves hanging out with her kids, hiking with her husband, and
- 2:10walking barefoot in the grass, Maybe not in the winter, though.
- 2:16And having delicious conversations with high vibing friends, all far parts of her spiritual
- 2:23practice.
- 2:24Wow.
- 2:24That's that's, sounds really neat.
- 2:26So Jennifer, Now I've, obviously, I've worked with business coaches.
- 2:31I've, you know, been exposed to a lot of business coaches.
- 2:33I'm sure a lot of people listening have to, done, a fair amount of business coaching.
- 2:39A lot of the things that, you know, people that talk, about business it's kinda like, you know,
- 2:44what's the vision, what's the mission, all that kind of stuff.
- 2:48So I said, tell me more about what an intuitive coaches, business coach.
- 2:55Great.
- 2:56Absolutely.
- 2:57So what I do a little bit differently is I teach people more about how they're showing up.
- 3:05I get people to be present with who they are, what their values are, what they really want
- 3:13out of life.
- 3:14And then understanding what they need to be the best version of themselves for what they need
- 3:20for their daily practice, what do they need to be giving back in community to feel filled in
- 3:25that giving and and serving what they need to have in their relationships so that they can
- 3:31feel fulfilled in being there for their kids their siblings, their parents, their friends,
- 3:36their their spouses, or their partners.
- 3:39And then once you have an idea of what that look like for how you wanna live, then we look
- 3:44at their business.
- 3:45And we energetically tune into the ideas that they have for their business because a lot of
- 3:50entrepreneurs are amazing, and they are so creative.
- 3:53And they have all these amazing ideas, but they get bogged down and make very little progress
- 3:59and a lot of ideas.
- 4:01And then they beat themselves up.
- 4:02They're not really making a lot of progress.
- 4:04So I help them with getting focused on what's really in alignment with how they wanna live.
- 4:10And then understand who do they need to be to make the decisions to get to where they wanna
- 4:18go.
- 4:18So tuning in to the vision that they have.
- 4:20So we create a structure for their business by tuning into the ideas prioritizing what's gonna
- 4:25fit in their lives.
- 4:26We create a structure for how they're gonna move forward for over the course of a year and,
- 4:30it further out depending on where they are in their business.
- 4:33But it really is about who are you being and how do you wanna live?
- 4:38Do you find most people, you're talking pretty deep stuff, right, and do you find that it's
- 4:43difficult for business people to do that?
- 4:45Cause you're talking about slowing and really listening.
- 4:49I might think that this widget is a good idea, right, because it's marketable and it's
- 4:54trending or whatever.
- 4:56Do you find that it's when you're talking about slowing, are are most people opposed to that,
- 5:02or are they open because they're attracted to you knowing the kind of coaching that you do?
- 5:07They are at that place where they are spiritually focused in some way, shape, or
- 5:12form.
- 5:12They've had a taste of it, and they know that they want it more in their life.
- 5:16And they love the concept of bringing that type of presence into their business and how do they
- 5:22how they approach their business and how they deliver in their business.
- 5:26It's much more grounded, much more, authentic and alignment to who they're really meant to be
- 5:31and how they're meant to serve because if we a lot of people so many of my clients, they've
- 5:37left the corporate world.
- 5:39Mhmm.
- 5:39And
- 5:39because they feel like they're not they're working too hard.
- 5:42They're not moving in the direction that they wanna move in, and they're just feeling
- 5:47uncomfortable and and out of alignment with yucky, and it's not who they are.
- 5:52So they start to do things for themselves, and then they break out and they do their own
- 5:56business, but then they realize, oh my gosh.
- 5:58I've got so much to do And it's a little different when you're an entrepreneur because
- 6:03you don't have the same sort of support systems as a big corporation.
- 6:06You have an IT department.
- 6:07You have somebody to order your office supplies and all of that.
- 6:10So there's that component of it, understanding what your genius is as well for how to move
- 6:15forward, but you have to make sure that you're not gonna get yourself back into that same
- 6:20spot.
- 6:21You don't wanna be back into hating where you are hating who you're being.
- 6:27You need to be making these choices in a place of where you're really aware of who you're
- 6:33being and how you're showing up.
- 6:35How is this all impacting you?
- 6:36And is this how you wanna live?
- 6:39Mhmm.
- 6:39Mhmm.
- 6:40Yeah.
- 6:41For sure.
- 6:41Because as an entrepreneur, Whether you need a paperclip or you need, like, marketing that
- 6:48same day, you can you have to go through so many so many things when you're starting off
- 6:53until you're at the point where you cannot kind of outsource things, obviously.
- 6:57You know, a lot of people, we have we all I've done it.
- 7:00I'm sure you've done it when you start your business.
- 7:02And it's draining.
- 7:03It it can be draining, right, because there's so many parts to the business that you need to,
- 7:09you know, you need to learn all the social.
- 7:11And when the new social comes out.
- 7:13It's like, you know, oh, I need to know that.
- 7:15And so it's kinda like you're constantly being pulled in a million directions.
- 7:19And everything supposedly works, podcasts work, you know, social media works, blogs, work,
- 7:25blogs work, all that stuff comes flying at you.
- 7:27And then after a while, you're like, oh, I I have a headache.
- 7:30Right?
- 7:31Is that's the so that's something that you see often with people coming to you?
- 7:35Yes.
- 7:36And I am working with people who have done a lot of that who are either starting to work
- 7:42with, virtual assistants or other team members or they already have that in place, and they
- 7:46wanna move to the next level.
- 7:48And they know that who they're being or who they were being to get to the point where they
- 7:54were.
- 7:54They've got some systems in place.
- 7:56They have an understanding of how they want to be in the world.
- 8:00Or how they have wanted to be in the world, and now it's time to move up.
- 8:04How am I gonna show up now?
- 8:05What is it that I really want?
- 8:07What's pulling me forward?
- 8:08How can they make the big difference and give back in the most magnificent way.
- 8:13So tell me how you, I mean, how did you get into a it.
- 8:17I mean, business coaching, I probably think you went to school and you did your coaching and
- 8:22stuff like that.
- 8:22I'm I'm assuming you can tell me if it's otherwise.
- 8:25No.
- 8:26You didn't go to school for I
- 8:28well, I did go to school.
- 8:29I did I studied, hospitality and tourism I got a bachelor of commerce.
- 8:34I remember in high school, my my, accounting teacher was actually encouraging me to become
- 8:38an accountant because I was really good with numbers.
- 8:41Okay.
- 8:42But I knew that that was not where I was drawn to be.
- 8:45So I took hospitality because I wanted to be of service.
- 8:49I loved the hospitality industry.
- 8:51I went into event planning.
- 8:53And so with that, there's also project management, lots of deadlines.
- 8:56I also worked with marketing.
- 8:59So those are 2 my areas of specialty, and I worked in the corporate world.
- 9:02I've worked in the not for profit.
- 9:04I've worked on the supplier side as well as on the, the client side for events as well.
- 9:09And when I had kids, then I realized that I did not wanna do that commute into Toronto anymore.
- 9:16So I focused on working closer to home, And when I had my second son, I realized, you know,
- 9:23I don't wanna just work just to pay for day care.
- 9:25That just doesn't make any sense.
- 9:27And it doesn't fulfill me.
- 9:28So I had a a part time job.
- 9:31And when that company closed, I then started my business.
- 9:37I was part of a Ontario program for starting up my business on Ontario self employment benefit
- 9:40program.
- 9:44And I got coached, for a whole year on getting my business started.
- 9:48And I had created a business called Live Healthy.
- 9:51The intention of inspiring people to be proactive about their health.
- 9:55I had created a video podcast.
- 9:57So this is 2008 when podcasting was still very new.
- 10:01I co hosted and co produced it with an naturopathic doctor from Toronto.
- 10:04And my intention was just to sell advertising in the podcast.
- 10:10But the problem was is that I didn't believe in myself.
- 10:13I didn't have any qualifications as a health care practitioner.
- 10:17And I didn't know why anybody would wanna listen to me.
- 10:20So I didn't do a very good job when I was approaching companies to try to get
- 10:26advertising.
- 10:27So After that period of time, how that had started was I had created a group called
- 10:32Healthy Mums Connect where I had connected with a number of different women in the community
- 10:37practitioners and community.
- 10:39And I wanted to do sessions where we could learn about how to be a healthier mom.
- 10:45So back in 2007, there like, all the wellness stuff was just starting.
- 10:50It was just starting to bubble up, and it's not at the place where it is now.
- 10:55So I went through a journey of not believing in myself being passionate about this topic, but
- 11:00not believing in myself.
- 11:02And so things did not progressed the way I'd hoped.
- 11:05So I looked at, okay, how can I use the skills, my passion for wellness, my event planning
- 11:10background, and how can I use this to still do good in the world?
- 11:14So I looked at corporate wellness.
- 11:16And so I got some corporate wellness clients.
- 11:20However, that was 2008, And at that point, I don't know if you remember what was happening
- 11:25at that time.
- 11:26That was the recession.
- 11:27So as I'm going on knocking on doors, literally going into offices and they let the
- 11:32receptionist go because they don't have the budget for that.
- 11:36Right.
- 11:36Right.
- 11:37So I nurtured my corporate clients, and I took on a few other projects.
- 11:43And I stepped back to say, alright.
- 11:47I've really only been working at my business part time because my kids were both young, and
- 11:51my youngest was still going to school every other day.
- 11:54Once my youngest gets to go to school full time, that's when I'll give myself permission
- 11:58to figure out what I wanna do when I grow up.
- 12:00And that is when the if the Pandora's box, the the beautiful, spiritual window line opened up
- 12:07for me, and I discovered all these different spiritual tools.
- 12:11And it helped me get out of that place of, like, I was I was not very good at making
- 12:17decisions.
- 12:17I would get my stomach tied up a knot.
- 12:20So for instance, when we moved into our house, we're painting our kitchen and just above the
- 12:25kitchen window, There's 2 sets of cabinets on the left side and right side of the window, and
- 12:30there's this little 8 inch strip, 3 feet wide, of wall.
- 12:35And I took me 30 minutes to decide, do I paint it the same color as the walls or the ceiling?
- 12:41And that is such a simple decision It should not have taken that long, but I was so afraid
- 12:47of making a mistake.
- 12:49So on my spiritual journey, what it's helped me to do Is to become detached?
- 12:55Do not get caught up in all of the logical things of, oh my gosh, what can what can happen
- 13:01if I do this and and take you down a deep hole of all the things that can go wrong, but rather
- 13:07take a step back, become detached from it, and look at all the possibilities, not only what's
- 13:12gonna go wrong, but what can go right and understanding How to tune into the energy of
- 13:19the different possibilities to see what's best for me, to see what's best for my clients, and
- 13:24then teaching them how to tune in so that they can feel confident when they're making
- 13:30decisions too.
- 13:31So tell me about that tuning in process.
- 13:33Tell me a little bit more what that's about.
- 13:37And, you know, for the average person, maybe that has never done anything intuitive.
- 13:42You know, it's like, they say that we have more, brain cells, like nerve endings in her
- 13:51tummy when they say I have a, you know, a a a guts feeling, And now that's been proven by
- 13:58neuroscience that there's actually more, you know, neurons in our tummy than than there is
- 14:03in our even in our head.
- 14:04And it's a wider throat or body.
- 14:06But in our tummies, especially there's that much more.
- 14:09So it makes sense what you're saying.
- 14:12So tell me a little bit more about the process of how you help people tune in.
- 14:17So first let me just, explain something in alignment with what you were just mentioning.
- 14:22In native traditions, they believe that we have 3 brains.
- 14:27Mhmm.
- 14:28We have our intuitive brain in our gut.
- 14:30We have our emotional brain in our heart, and then we have our logical brain.
- 14:35And what they do when they're making decisions is they go to that intuitive brain in their
- 14:41Whereas in North America, we are so caught up in the busyness of life.
- 14:45We're caught up in our logical brain.
- 14:47And it's just a fraction of the insight and knowledge that's available to us.
- 14:54So one of the things that I was given on my spiritual journey was my own modality called
- 15:00connect to you, and the intention of that work is to connect those 3 brains.
- 15:03Your to to frame, your soul, your heart, and your mind.
- 15:06So as you open up those communication channels, then you're able to take the best of all of
- 15:11those worlds.
- 15:13When I am teaching my clients, I don't want you to do your due diligence with your logical
- 15:18grain.
- 15:19You still need to do the research.
- 15:20You still need to collect the information to make sure you're making an educated decision,
- 15:28and then you also bring in the intuitive things.
- 15:31So to walk through an example, let's say you had three choices for 3 different suppliers
- 15:39that you're considering to work with.
- 15:41Maybe you want to do, online programs and you're looking for a membership site, for
- 15:46instance.
- 15:47So you do your due diligence.
- 15:48You get all the information, and then you look at option a, b, and c.
- 15:54I invite my clients to take a pause and notice how do they feel physically, emotionally,
- 16:01mentally, and then once your gut reaction for each option.
- 16:05So when you tune in physically, you close your eyes and you say, okay, on a scale, 1 to 10,
- 16:11how does option 8 make me feel?
- 16:14And then you listen to your body.
- 16:15You do a quick body scan.
- 16:17Oh, I feel like really tight in my stomach or in my chest, and I'm finding it hard to
- 16:22breathe.
- 16:23I'm I'm getting a tingling sensation down my leg, or I I feel heavy.
- 16:28And then maybe for the next one, you feel this lightness and you you feel like excitement and
- 16:34you you feel like you wanna bounce up and down.
- 16:36And then for the third one, you Yeah.
- 16:39You just don't really notice anything.
- 16:41It just seems kind of neither here nor there.
- 16:44And then you go in, alright, emotionally.
- 16:46How does each option feel emotionally?
- 16:49So maybe that the first one, it it feels like there's this funny feeling in my mouth.
- 16:55Like, I I almost wanna, I wanna I want I say, well, I'm a vomit.
- 17:01It's sort of a thought that I have, and it's just you feel yucky.
- 17:05You feel ill at ease.
- 17:06There's something really uncomfortable about that.
- 17:08The second one feels really exciting and really, really happy.
- 17:12And, like, there's something really good about the energy of that one.
- 17:14And then the third one, I feel like deflated.
- 17:18And so tuning into the energy of how you feel emotionally.
- 17:22And then you go into your logical mind.
- 17:24Okay.
- 17:25Well, the first one You know what?
- 17:26It's a really comprehensive program.
- 17:28It does a lot, but I have to get 3 other programs to hook into it to get it to really
- 17:34integrate with my system.
- 17:36Alright.
- 17:36So that one is like a a 3 out of 10.
- 17:40And then the next one, I really like the, the integrity of the company.
- 17:46It really is an alignment.
- 17:47It flows effortlessly into my other programs.
- 17:50I need to get one more thing in to really get it to work properly.
- 17:54But I can I like the other solution, and it feels great?
- 17:57And then the last one, it just is not comprehensive enough.
- 18:01It just it doesn't talk to other systems.
- 18:03It's not gonna help me.
- 18:04There's just just nothing with that.
- 18:06So bringing in the intuition like that one, the situation I just described It's kind of more
- 18:11clear on the logical mind, but sometimes the there are things that are a little closer that
- 18:16makes it harder to distinguish which one's really the best, and that's when you go through
- 18:19this and you start to recognize the subtleties that are going on and in your body as you start
- 18:23to think about working with each of the systems.
- 18:26That's that sounds amazing because when I think of myself and business and what I'm passionate
- 18:34about, it's it's speaking.
- 18:35Like I love to speak.
- 18:37Right?
- 18:38And every time I've kind of diverted away from that, I I can tell.
- 18:44Like, it's it's just work.
- 18:45It's just, you know, it's too much.
- 18:47And, yes, I might the other stuff I might enjoy also, but when I get back online with anything
- 18:52related to the part that I love because it doesn't feel like work for me.
- 18:56So it's interesting.
- 18:57So that's when you say that, that that would make a lot of sense because when you sit with
- 19:03it, you know, we generally go in the you're right.
- 19:05In the west, we go to the logical mind immediately, and we go to the metrics and
- 19:09what's gonna happen and all that stuff.
- 19:11We really most people don't often slow down, which is, I think, what you're seeing is really
- 19:19the the pebble and the rough there.
- 19:21And that's slowing down.
- 19:23That is the genius for everything.
- 19:25We're we are trying to cram too much into our days, into our lives.
- 19:32And in the process, we're missing the joy of the process of bringing it to life.
- 19:40Because we gotta get it all done, and I gotta get this done.
- 19:42I gotta get that done.
- 19:43But what about, like, the joy of the the research?
- 19:46Of, you know, learning new things.
- 19:48And what of the what about the joy of, oh my gosh, the things that this is going to create
- 19:53that's possible and there's a lot of joy that when we can slow down rather than just trying
- 19:58to get it done, that we can That's what we're here to do.
- 20:04Right?
- 20:04We're not here to just to just make this widget.
- 20:07We're not here just to make this widget.
- 20:08We are here to have the the joyful process of creating all of the different components that
- 20:14make the widget, of getting into that creative space space, the problem solving space, and and
- 20:21going into new dimensions of, like, areas that we've never explored before for new materials
- 20:26to make that widget and create leading edge conversations for this widget.
- 20:32Even though it's just a widget, it could still be a leading wedge widget.
- 20:36And I think you're right.
- 20:37It's like it's almost like I've heard it describe, like, child's play.
- 20:40Right?
- 20:40If you look at a child play
- 20:42Yes.
- 20:43Right?
- 20:44You know, they're like they're like their eyes are like lit up all the time.
- 20:48Right?
- 20:49And and with adults, we lose that because it was so outcome driven.
- 20:55You know, and and you know, sometimes, I don't know if you go through this.
- 20:58Sometimes I'll look back at my ear because I'm needing, you know, to get something together
- 21:02to, to, you know, renew something.
- 21:04And I'm, I'm looking, and I'm, I'm guilty of it.
- 21:07I'm sure a lot of, people that you are too.
- 21:10I I sometimes I think, oh my goodness, I cannot believe what I've done in 1 year.
- 21:16Yes.
- 21:17I'm gonna celebrate it.
- 21:19No.
- 21:19I know because you're going, going, going, And then you're like, and then you stop because,
- 21:23you know, I'm renewing a membership where they need validation or something, and then I'm
- 21:28like, wow.
- 21:30How did I get all of this stuff done?
- 21:33But you're so right.
- 21:34You don't I and I'm I'm a lot better now, but I wouldn't stop and say, well, I've, you know,
- 21:40I've started the podcast of, you know, I've hired an assistant, you know, all that stuff
- 21:44that, you know, it's kinda like, you know, and these are big decisions.
- 21:47Not a lot of decisions.
- 21:49And I think you're right.
- 21:50It's it's almost like giving that emotional part of yourself a pat on the on the back, but
- 21:54I literally say Wow.
- 21:56You've done well.
- 21:56And there's things that have failed also, but, you know, how much you actually done.
- 22:01So celebrate, I think, is very, very key.
- 22:04It is.
- 22:04And so I have, a business mastermind, and that's one of the things that we do on every
- 22:09call.
- 22:09We celebrate what we've done in the last 2 weeks.
- 22:13And then we also look at what it is that we are working through, what do we need help with,
- 22:18what are and then create what we're accountable for for the upcoming period.
- 22:22And then we always always always finish off our calls with who are we going to be for the next
- 22:282 weeks.
- 22:29And declare that.
- 22:30Because that's
- 22:31where are you going to be versus what are you going to achieve?
- 22:35Yeah.
- 22:35Yeah.
- 22:36Well, we do do them.
- 22:37What are you gonna achieve?
- 22:37Because we do have an accountability, but who are you gonna be to in order to be able to
- 22:42achieve that?
- 22:44Does that make sense?
- 22:45I like that, Jennifer.
- 22:46Like, seriously, because when you're out of alignment, I know what I am, I can feel that
- 22:52Right?
- 22:52Yeah.
- 22:53But if I'm kinda thinking in the world of why I started doing what I'm doing, I I wanted to
- 22:58make a difference you know, my thing was when I started as a little girl, I liked to talk to
- 23:03people, and they liked, when I talked to them, they felt better.
- 23:07So I like that element of being able to talk to people and make them feel better, which
- 23:12obviously ended up into me going to school and all those things.
- 23:15And really, the element is just feeling the feeling the impact of changing someone's life.
- 23:21Yes.
- 23:22Right?
- 23:22And when I do things that take me off course, of that, whatever the the activity is, then I I
- 23:29I get stifled.
- 23:30Yeah.
- 23:31You know?
- 23:32So it sounds it sounds very so you're actually having people go in.
- 23:36Alright.
- 23:37So do you do things like, actual slowing process with your masterminds and your one to
- 23:43one coaching where you do, like, body scans, you know, for people listening, a body scan is
- 23:50just like it sounds.
- 23:51It's it's kind of going into a state, and I'm thinking this is this is what I do with a body
- 23:55scan.
- 23:55You you get very relaxed and you're really kinda Listen to what your head, your, you know,
- 23:59what's happening at the top of your head, kind of what's happening in your cheek.
- 24:03You've and you go all the way over your body, and then you kind of become in tune with what
- 24:08your body's sharing with you.
- 24:10Is that the same thing that you do?
- 24:13Yes.
- 24:13So I teach people how to do this.
- 24:17I call it personal energy management, and I teach them how to do it every day for
- 24:22themselves so that when they're making the decisions, It's something that they're able to
- 24:26do kind of automatically.
- 24:28So imagine doing this quick check-in every single day, how am I feeling physically,
- 24:32emotionally, mentally, and then spiritually to know how you're feeling.
- 24:36So you're doing this body scan.
- 24:38It's like, oh, you know what?
- 24:39I didn't really I got a kink in my back.
- 24:41I must have slept funny last night.
- 24:43But that kinky netback could be a distraction for you all day.
- 24:47You might be better served by taking 5 minutes to do some stretching or booking an appointment
- 24:53to see your health care practitioner to get it looked at or or making a note that if it's not
- 24:58better by the next day, to get it looked at.
- 25:01But once you've done this check-in and you write it down, then you know what's going on in
- 25:07your body.
- 25:08Physically, emotionally, you might realize that you're tired.
- 25:11You might realize that you're still feeling some heaviness in your heart because of a
- 25:15conversation you had with somebody that you cared about.
- 25:17Yes, today and it's still affecting you today.
- 25:20So getting present and then mentally, you can tune into, alright, I'm feeling really alert.
- 25:26I feel really alive.
- 25:27I feel like I can take on the day.
- 25:30Or, it could be that my brain's in a fog because it didn't sleep last night because my
- 25:35back's bothering me.
- 25:36So I need to re reorganize my day in order to make sure I have some time to get myself into a
- 25:44place where I can think better or perhaps, you know, that accounting or or proposal that I was
- 25:49gonna work on I need to move it to the next morning when I'm in a better mental state, so
- 25:54I'm not ending up redoing it all over again.
- 25:58So it's really it's really about gentleness and kindness to yourself.
- 26:02I mean, you know, at the end of the day, certain things have to go out certain times.
- 26:05We know about deadlines.
- 26:07Don't have to tell business people that they understand that.
- 26:09Right?
- 26:09Do you know if you're working on you're talking about working on a speech I'm working on.
- 26:13It's gonna get done because sometimes you just have to work through things.
- 26:17But overall, you're you're telling people to really intuit where they are on every level.
- 26:24Yes.
- 26:25Maximize their energy based on what's happening for them.
- 26:29Do you have people kind of, map out what their most productive times of the day are and kind
- 26:35of work with that also.
- 26:37If people don't have that awareness yet, Doing this check-in three times a day helps them to
- 26:42identify that.
- 26:43Okay.
- 26:44And even though you might have things that you need to get done, Well, because you know that
- 26:49you have some things that you need to get done, we review what are the best tools for them to
- 26:54reach for, to get into a better feeling state so that they can get that work done.
- 26:59How
- 26:59can they use their energy?
- 27:01So for me, when it's nice out, my go to is going outside.
- 27:04Even when if it's a a cold today is a rainy day, not such a great day, but if even if it's
- 27:09winter time, but it's nice and sunny out, I'll put my boots.
- 27:12I'll put my coat on.
- 27:13Go for a walk around the block.
- 27:14Go for a walk around my garden.
- 27:16Get grounded.
- 27:17And that will if I'm feeling Anytime I'm feeling less than a 7, I have to do something
- 27:23immediately to fix that because I know that the work that I'm gonna do I'm just gonna have to
- 27:28fix it anyway.
- 27:29So I'm better off spending 5 minutes, 15 minutes, whatever it might be to boost my
- 27:34energy in order to have thing that I'm working on, have the best energy, have me showing up as
- 27:39the best version of myself.
- 27:40Otherwise, yeah, I'm gonna redo it.
- 27:42It'll take me longer in the end.
- 27:44Makes so much makes so much sense.
- 27:46Right?
- 27:47You know, because sometimes you'll hear the prescription, you know, get up, do this, do
- 27:52that, you know, which, and I try to apply to everyone.
- 27:56And we know that that's not reality.
- 27:57It's really about it tailoring to who who we are, where we're at, Do you have young, I mean,
- 28:02you know, when people, I know you work with a lot of, female, entrepreneurs, you, you know,
- 28:08you're still, you know, you know, getting the lunches and and and throwing them up the front
- 28:13door and driving them to school, all that stuff.
- 28:16That's still part of your day.
- 28:18So kind of trying to figure out with people what what the best flow is for them and being
- 28:22authentic, which obviously I talk a lot about that because about being Why am I doing what
- 28:27I'm doing?
- 28:29Yes, we all work, and we have to make a living, but when I've connected to this what who I am
- 28:34and what I do, it's just easier to produce.
- 28:38Yes.
- 28:39And especially the women who still have children and that they need to take care of
- 28:44their needs.
- 28:45If we were a phone, if you can imagine your phone battery, If it is on, like, 30%, you're
- 28:52gonna wanna charge it up before you begin your day.
- 28:55So you need to charge yourself up before you begin your day with whatever you need to do for
- 29:01the kids.
- 29:02So if it means getting up half an hour earlier, then you need to do that.
- 29:06To do some sort of practice to take care of yourself.
- 29:10Even if you had to stay up late to finish off something else for someone else, and you're not
- 29:16able to get that full half hour in 15 minutes, 10 minutes, something to nurture you, to get
- 29:23you into a better place.
- 29:24Because if you're just trying to get the kids out the door at 30% and then you're getting
- 29:29frustrated.
- 29:30And then that starts their day off in a frustrated way.
- 29:34I'm gonna be ill.
- 29:36Oh my gosh.
- 29:36I shouldn't have yelled at them.
- 29:38And then that is it just it snowballs for the rest of your day.
- 29:42So taking that 10 minutes.
- 29:45Even is gonna set the tone for the rest of your day.
- 29:48We get so distracted by everybody else's needs and we need to really take care of our own
- 29:55needs in order to to shine.
- 29:57And just even that quick check-in, how do I feel physically emotionally mentally and
- 30:01spiritually even if you have to do it in the bed before you get out of bed?
- 30:06Mhmm.
- 30:06That's great.
- 30:07I I encourage people to do it when they brush their teeth.
- 30:10Because that's a natural time.
- 30:11So you could check-in on before you get started with your day.
- 30:14And then at the end of the day, and then find a natural time in the middle of the day, maybe
- 30:18it's when you fill up the water bottle or when you go by lunch.
- 30:23Nice.
- 30:24So I'm intrigued by this, and I wanted her to talk a little bit, about it.
- 30:30There's a a pendulum that she uses, and I want I and I still and I have to get to you,
- 30:36Jennifer, to to to experience this.
- 30:41And I think you took it out of the meeting and we we kind you know, you kinda showed me what
- 30:45you did, but I want you to explain it to people because I think most of the a lot of people
- 30:49were all trying to figure out more ways to clear ahead, get more true, you know, and, you
- 30:56know, as we as we're ending off 2013, I know I know I'm thinking, you know, what could I do
- 31:01differently?
- 31:02How can I, you know, as I get a year, I my birthday is in January, so I'm, you know,
- 31:07another year later?
- 31:08Kinda, how do I, you know, kinda do it, but don't be so harsh about it, just learn more
- 31:15ways.
- 31:16And when you showed me the pendulum about the questions, I was fascinated.
- 31:20So I I asked, Jennifer to tell us a little bit about that process and, you know, what she does
- 31:26with it.
- 31:27So.
- 31:27So first, I wanna explain what working with the pendulum is.
- 31:31It's called dowsing.
- 31:33And dowsing is something that's been around for 1000 years.
- 31:35It's even mentioned in the Bible.
- 31:37A lot of people are familiar with the term of dosing.
- 31:41I know I first heard about it in school where we heard about people who would go on a
- 31:47farmland and they would have a y stick.
- 31:50So there'd be two handles that would be held in each hand, left, and right, and then the the
- 31:54stick that goes down for the y is what would point out in front of them, and they would walk
- 31:58the land to see where to drill for water.
- 32:01And then that why the stick part would wiggle when they found the location.
- 32:06What you're doing is you're tuning into life force energy with that stick.
- 32:11I uses process of dowsing with a tool called a pendulum.
- 32:16And a pendulum is really, like a chain or a piece of string that's like 3 to 6 inches long
- 32:22and a weight at the end of it.
- 32:24You could use a pendant of a necklace as a pendulum.
- 32:27You can buy pendulums from different spiritual stores or some health food stores even.
- 32:33They are often made out of a crystal material.
- 32:37Or wood, or it could be metal.
- 32:40Those are the most common materials.
- 32:42I can douse with pretty much anything, even if I had a tea bag, a weight, a wet tea bag, a
- 32:47light tea bag, not so much, but a a a tea bag that's been wet, but not dripping light because
- 32:51you don't want making a mess, And it's about whenever I pick up my pendulum, I feel like I'm
- 33:00having a conversation with the universe.
- 33:03I'm saying, okay, universe.
- 33:05My soul, I believe my soul is the universe.
- 33:08That's my personal belief.
- 33:11Okay.
- 33:11What information is it that I need to know about this situation?
- 33:16I can I've programmed my pendulums for a response for yes, no, yes, but, and no but.
- 33:24So it's kinda like the 20 questions game.
- 33:27If I ask a question, I can get a yes answer or no and then yes but and no but help me to it's
- 33:33more like the hot and cold game where you're getting warmer.
- 33:36You're getting warmer.
- 33:37So I need to reframe my question to make sure that I'm getting the answer that I the end
- 33:43result of the answer that I'm looking for.
- 33:46I prefer to use something called a Ray chart.
- 33:49And what a rate chart is is if you can think back to school days where you have a protractor
- 33:55and on the edge of the end of the pro factor.
- 33:57There's all the degrees of the radius for that semi circle.
- 34:01Now imagine instead of there being all those numbers at the end, that there were options of
- 34:06the different things you're trying to consider.
- 34:08So let's say go back to that 3 different systems you're trying to evaluate.
- 34:13You wanna get clear as to what are the parameters for the end result that I'm looking
- 34:18for?
- 34:18So for those the system that I'm evaluating for, I wanna sure that it's easy to use.
- 34:23It integrates into my existing systems.
- 34:26I wanna make sure that, the the The way it looks represents my brand and that it's gonna
- 34:33be also easy for my clients to use.
- 34:36So I'll write down all those parameters, and and I needs to fit my budget.
- 34:40And so I'll write down all those parameters of what a positive end result looks like.
- 34:46Now tuning into that, feeling that, alright, getting so you read it over.
- 34:50This is what feels really good for my end result.
- 34:53This is what I want it to feel I write down on a rate chart.
- 34:57So I draw a line across the bottom and then up straight for where 90 degrees would be and then
- 35:03up to the left and up to the right.
- 35:05So there's a line across the bottom and then 3 of lines that stick out.
- 35:09And then I will say based on these parameters, what is the best option for me to choose?
- 35:16And then I can pick that option.
- 35:17It'll swing towards.
- 35:18So so the middle is is no.
- 35:22The middle will actually be so if I draw a line across the bottom Okay.
- 35:29Just kind of like a a baseline.
- 35:31Okay.
- 35:32Okay.
- 35:32And then if I draw a line up top for option b, align to the left for option a, and align to
- 35:39the right for option c.
- 35:42Okay.
- 35:43And then I hold my pendulum at the bottom intersection with that b line.
- 35:51So the the line that's at 90 degrees intersects with baseline.
- 35:56Okay.
- 35:57I'll ask the question based on these parameters, which system is best for me, and I
- 36:02wait to see where it swings.
- 36:03And I also need to have other because there could be another system that I haven't
- 36:08evaluated that I need to look at.
- 36:11So one of those, the baseline to the right, I'll write other.
- 36:15Okay.
- 36:16So
- 36:16that's how I use a rate chart.
- 36:18When I, use the pendulum to get a yes or no response, I've programmed my pendulum to show a
- 36:25clockwise rotation for yes and a counter clockwise rotation for no.
- 36:30So I can ask well, to be honest, I I find that asking yes and no questions gets to be tedious
- 36:39it's good for getting started as you're learning how to DAOs, but I just go to rate
- 36:43charts.
- 36:44I'll ask instead on a scale of 1 to 10, and Roxanne, I'm gonna show you what my I keep this
- 36:51under my keyboard.
- 36:53It's a yellow one at a time.
- 36:54So it's a gray chart with a scale of one to 10.
- 36:56So if I Right.
- 36:57To douse an to get the insight on a question on a scale of 1 to 10, how beneficial is it for me
- 37:03to do this interview with Roxanne?
- 37:05I was presented with an opportunity to do a presentation this Friday on a scale of 1 to 10.
- 37:11How beneficial is it for me to do this presentation?
- 37:14And I got a 10 and it kinda surprised me because I had decided I was gonna focus on
- 37:19other things and yet I got a yes for this.
- 37:22And it was something that I was gonna make a priority for next year, but I can see how
- 37:27saying yes to this helps me get things in alignment to make it a priority for next year.
- 37:32So you're holding the the chart and then just using the pendulum this way.
- 37:37Yeah.
- 37:38So I hold the chart horizontally in front of me so that all the desk in front of me.
- 37:42Right.
- 37:43Right.
- 37:43And then I hold the pendulum over the midpoint section where all of the lines reach the Right.
- 37:50The base.
- 37:50Okay.
- 37:51Okay.
- 37:51That's interesting.
- 37:53Like, and I and I said, like I said, I was fascinated by the time you'd you told me I
- 37:57didn't even fascinated.
- 37:58And what did it say about being on my show?
- 38:01A 10, of course.
- 38:03Well, I don't know.
- 38:04I'm like, okay.
- 38:05I hope she got a 10 or at least somewhere high.
- 38:08For me, I need a 10.
- 38:10For me to
- 38:10say that.
- 38:11To to to move forward, you go with a 10.
- 38:13I go with a 10.
- 38:14And if you get if you get anything, let's say, less than a 10, like an 8, What does that
- 38:20signify for you?
- 38:22So that for instance,
- 38:28I'm gonna walk you through the example that, something that we're deciding in in our home
- 38:32right now.
- 38:32My son's deciding what university needs to go to.
- 38:35Mhmm.
- 38:35In case decision, I like to tune in to understand what he's considering.
- 38:42And of the 4 schools that he's going to, I dowse and I determined, okay, so this is the
- 38:47best school for him to go to.
- 38:49And I said, oh, just at curiosity on a scale 1 to 10, how is it if he goes to this school?
- 38:54This one's the the school.
- 38:55And of the 4, 3 of them are 10 and 1 as an 8.
- 38:59So I know Wow.
- 39:01But he can't make a bad decision.
- 39:04Mhmm.
- 39:05I know I can give him the space.
- 39:08To feel what's right for him.
- 39:11And I know that I can rest easy, but it's all good.
- 39:14So let's say there were There's 4 options of something I'm considering considering 3 of them
- 39:19are 10 and 1's an 8.
- 39:21But maybe there's maybe number 8, the one that's 8, maybe I get to work with somebody
- 39:25that really, really, really, really wanna work with.
- 39:28It will help me understand, a couple of things.
- 39:32If I really, really, really am attached to working with that person, I might say, okay.
- 39:37It still is pretty decent, and I'll still say yes to it.
- 39:41Or and it will also me also help me say, alright.
- 39:46Working with that person is really good and really exciting, but there's something even
- 39:51better waiting for me with these other options.
- 39:56Nice.
- 39:57Yeah.
- 39:57No.
- 39:57No.
- 39:57Absolutely.
- 39:58Because sometimes
- 40:01you have a
- 40:01lot of options They don't have a clear and definite differentiating, variable logically.
- 40:09Right?
- 40:09Yes.
- 40:10Yes.
- 40:10Right.
- 40:10And then like, if you're doing the the dows thing and and, like, with your son, like,
- 40:14clearly, you know, that that 4th that 4th option can go aside.
- 40:18And then it really comes down to their 3 great options for him.
- 40:21It really depends on which way he wants to go.
- 40:24And think about it in business.
- 40:27How often are we we're faced with options like that?
- 40:31I'm doing an online course.
- 40:32I have I can do this and this and this and this and this And, you know, I can coach this way or
- 40:37I can do this, and there's all there's, like, every step, you know, to adding a product
- 40:44there's 20 steps potentially of things that you could do.
- 40:48So every every time it becomes confusing.
- 40:51Yes.
- 40:52And the most important part, though, is that you have to step back from the decision.
- 40:59And until you can learn how to become detached and be neutral, your dowsing will not be
- 41:05accurate.
- 41:06Okay.
- 41:07Okay.
- 41:07It took me a year to build up my accuracy because I would be here with a pendulum in my
- 41:12hand and be like, I need to throw an asshole.
- 41:15And that that doesn't That doesn't help me because it will be a reflection of, right, I
- 41:22had to tune into based on these parameters.
- 41:25What is the best outcome?
- 41:26But if I'm dealing like this, that's the that's the perspective of the answer that's gonna be
- 41:31reflected back to me.
- 41:32Right.
- 41:33Right.
- 41:33So the year that you used, you worked was just getting spiritually connected, slowing down.
- 41:38Yeah.
- 41:39I'm doing lots of different spiritual practices.
- 41:41I would assume.
- 41:42Yes.
- 41:42Learning meditation.
- 41:43I learned automatic writing.
- 41:45I learned more about how to work with the pendulum.
- 41:48I learned about tuning into energy, and I've actually been working with energy since I was
- 41:53four years old, and I just didn't realize it.
- 41:55Oh, wow.
- 41:56And because on the baby of 7, and my eldest brother had, a bad water skiing accident and
- 42:04his back was thrown out.
- 42:05So I became the family massage therapist when he was lying on the living room floor just
- 42:10trying to get some reliefbers back, and I'd wrap back.
- 42:13And now I realized that I actually was doing energy work
- 42:17with him.
- 42:17My uncles
- 42:17and energy healer in Europe and he had told me that there's one in every generation.
- 42:25And while that might sound really woo, we all work with energy.
- 42:31Our it all of our senses are 5 senses.
- 42:33It's all energy.
- 42:35And the way I work with it is just heightened awareness for it.
- 42:40And those are the things that's the skill that I teach my clients is how do you heighten those
- 42:47skills, how do you heighten those senses so that when you feel something coming on, you get
- 42:52a funny taste in your mouth, a funny feeling in your body, that you stop and you listen to it.
- 42:58Mhmm.
- 42:58But you have to have slowed down in order to have noticed it.
- 43:05Right.
- 43:06Right.
- 43:06Absolutely.
- 43:06And I think of when I see my clients, whether I'm coaching them or or, in my practice as
- 43:12psychotherapist, I think I said that to you.
- 43:14Sometimes I will feel like I can wade through their words and really, really hear what
- 43:22they're trying to say on a profound level.
- 43:25And then I'll say it back to them, and they'll go, Where'd you get that from?
- 43:30Yeah.
- 43:31I'm like, what do you mean?
- 43:32Like, no.
- 43:33Tell me where those words you picked where and I said, I'm I was just listening to you, but
- 43:39really this thing on a deep level, and they're blown sometimes they're blown away.
- 43:43They're like, wow.
- 43:44It's like you were reading my mind.
- 43:45And I'm like, oh, okay.
- 43:47You know, because you could get it.
- 43:49It's so bang on and maybe something they weren't even saying in the words that they were
- 43:54thinking that, you know, so, like, I didn't know you and I talked a little bit about that.
- 43:59You know, it's about it I guess it's intuitive plus years of doing what I I I do.
- 44:05And then, you know, you're just trying to tune in that much more just to figure out What is
- 44:09the client's needing that they're maybe not saying?
- 44:13Yeah.
- 44:13There's an there is all of that.
- 44:16And so the skill that I see you have built up is you have become so attuned to the energy of
- 44:25words And the words people choose as well as the way they sound as they express it because
- 44:34If somebody, you you somebody says, you go, how are you?
- 44:37And I say, I'm fine.
- 44:39It feels way different than, oh, I'm fine.
- 44:41Thank for us.
- 44:42You know, there's a very different energy.
- 44:44And sometimes that I'm fine is just very subtle in the difference of I'm fine.
- 44:52Right?
- 44:52It's it's subtle, but you can still see that there's something there, and you can pull that
- 44:57out.
- 44:57I'm the same way when I'm having conversations with clients.
- 45:00There'll be 1 or 2 words that really jump out of what they're saying.
- 45:03It's like, oh, oh, oh, oh, tell me more about that.
- 45:05There's something about that word that's really important for you and your business.
- 45:09And then you've as you go in, it's like, that is, like, their soul's purpose.
- 45:14And that is what is the foundation for the whole reason why they created the business in
- 45:18the first place.
- 45:19And it's coming out in this one word.
- 45:21It's like, okay.
- 45:22You need to really make sure you express this in your marketing as you're working with
- 45:26clients.
- 45:26Because it's foundational for the work that you do with them.
- 45:29So that listening.
- 45:31And when when we can become aware of the things that we are saying, right?
- 45:38Because it's easier to pick up what's going on around us, but to pick up what we're projecting
- 45:43out That is a huge skill to learn too because if you can understand how you're landing and
- 45:49how you're being heard by the outside world, and some of these subliminal things that that
- 45:55are going subconscious things that are going on within yourself and how it's affecting the
- 46:00words that you're using and the the way that you're presenting yourself, that's huge.
- 46:05That's even more powerful.
- 46:07And that's what I wanna empower people with.
- 46:10So this is personal, but, you know, my husband and I, we have a a raised garden bed in our
- 46:16backyard where we're growing vegetables.
- 46:19And we first started it about 3 years ago, and my husband wanted to move it by, like, a foot
- 46:24because he wanted to get the lawnmower in around it.
- 46:28And I really didn't want him to move it.
- 46:30And he's like, I don't understand why are you so upset about me moving this this race garden
- 46:36bed, a foot.
- 46:36Like, what's the big deal?
- 46:38And so I had to pause.
- 46:40I was like, okay.
- 46:41What's going on for me?
- 46:42And I realized that I felt sad.
- 46:45I was like, okay.
- 46:45Well, what's that sadness about?
- 46:47I felt sad for the plants.
- 46:49The plants that would have already receded themselves that would grow all themselves if we
- 46:53leave it straight where it was.
- 46:55So there was this connection to me and my little babies of the plants that I had planted
- 47:00in that garden.
- 47:01That I wanted to see come up and once I was able to realize, okay.
- 47:04That's what it is.
- 47:05Alright.
- 47:06I feel badly about it, but my lot, I can I can handle that?
- 47:09We can sure we can move it over a foot to make things easier for you.
- 47:12And Oh.
- 47:14But does that make sense?
- 47:15Like
- 47:15Absolutely.
- 47:16Absolutely.
- 47:17Because I think you know, I think we we you know what?
- 47:21You in my psychotherapy role, people are, you know, are they kinda common?
- 47:25They're open, but then in the business world, you know, this is I think the concept is the
- 47:31exact same concept, but it's really then your full seeing more on in on what your business is
- 47:38projecting out.
- 47:39And guess what?
- 47:41Is it any different in a lot of ways of when people are stuck in different parts of their
- 47:44life?
- 47:45You know, I will I will deal with people with every parts of their life, you know, as a when
- 47:50I coach, it's different, obviously.
- 47:51It's not as as in-depth but as a psychotherapist, it could be any part of their
- 47:55lives.
- 47:56And your business coaching, you're kind of you're really dealing with them.
- 48:00And their expression of themselves through their business.
- 48:03Yes.
- 48:03Exactly.
- 48:04Right?
- 48:04Exactly.
- 48:05So you're tuning into all the things that matter and what they value and who who, what,
- 48:10why, and when, and, you know, all those things because at the end of the day, if you're
- 48:15aligned with that, and you create from that space, then it's kinda like play.
- 48:21Right?
- 48:21You still have to work.
- 48:22We all have to work, but then then it's you're not efforting as much as, you know, you're
- 48:27going along with what you want versus kinda trying to create something like, oh, yeah.
- 48:32I should be doing this because Jane is doing this or whatever.
- 48:36And, you know, it's like, you know, that squirrel, which also when you, entrepreneurs
- 48:41get and I've got I've been there and still do it at times.
- 48:44Or then I stop and say, why am I doing what?
- 48:46Why am I why am I doing this?
- 48:48What what's the what am I talking to?
- 48:49Is it just outcome driven?
- 48:51Is it something that I think I should be due, or is it something that I really get deep
- 48:55within me knows that I I have to do this?
- 48:58Is really something that I, you know, is necessary for my business.
- 49:03And and the thing is is that when we create this awareness, the self awareness for how
- 49:08we're showing up, and this awareness of what's most important to us for how we wanna live our
- 49:14lives and how we wanna express our business.
- 49:18It helps us to create a container that makes that intuitive business decision making easier.
- 49:24Because if you know where you're focusing your attention and intention, then it's easier to
- 49:30say yes to this opportunity or no.
- 49:33To that opportunity.
- 49:35Because if it's not aligned in alignment with where you're going, then it's not gonna help
- 49:41you.
- 49:42So before we started on a call, I shared that, you know, I I've been presented with an
- 49:47opportunity to to speak this Friday And in the last few weeks, I've decided, no, I'm gonna
- 49:53focus my attention here because I wanted to do some corporate stuff.
- 49:58I wanted to do personal stuff.
- 49:59I wanted to do entrepreneurs.
- 50:00I was like, no.
- 50:01I need to focus on entrepreneurs.
- 50:04I need to pick a lane.
- 50:05Right?
- 50:05Pick a lane.
- 50:07And so when I tuned in to the soft opportunity.
- 50:11And I got a yes for this.
- 50:13It's just like, alright.
- 50:15I'll I'm gonna say yes.
- 50:17I'm gonna jump in.
- 50:18I'm gonna be courageous and I'm gonna get this all put together.
- 50:23And then just in our conversation here, I realized, and I said this earlier that even
- 50:28though it's not really what I wanna do, focus on right now, I know that's gonna lay a
- 50:34foundation for it to be for me to be able to focus on it in the future, like, in next year.
- 50:40And the work that I do for this is also gonna help me prepare for my target market too.
- 50:46So it's it's all gonna be valuable, and it's gonna create some other, interesting insights
- 50:52for me and for those that I connect with.
- 50:55So it's all good.
- 50:57Sounds sounds amazing.
- 51:00Now To me, this is sounds like an alignment.
- 51:05So with people that are coming to you, you said there there are people that are already started
- 51:11to be do you starting a use with startups, or have they been in business for what's the right
- 51:16kind of match for client for you for people listening.
- 51:19And, you know, and then we're gonna talk.
- 51:20I know you have an event coming up, which I would love to hear more about.
- 51:23And if you know, and to tell people where if they wanted to get their business planning
- 51:28done, they might be able to come out and work with you.
- 51:30In this in Burlington and Missus.
- 51:33Alright?
- 51:34So so
- 51:37I work with people who are already established in their business.
- 51:41Okay.
- 51:41They already have a foundation in place.
- 51:43They already have some of the systems in place.
- 51:46I can help them with fine tuning that, but I can best serve people who already have a
- 51:52foundation in place.
- 51:53Okay.
- 51:53Okay.
- 51:54Want to fine tune how they're showing now and go up to the next level.
- 51:58They have figured the basics out.
- 52:01Like, I'm I'm not here to help you create your initial business plan.
- 52:06You need to have already figured out, in general, what you wanna do.
- 52:10I can help with fine tuning that or going in a new direction.
- 52:14But you have to have an idea of of where you're starting and foundation for whether you are
- 52:20making widgets or if you are doing coaching or if you're doing online products, you have to
- 52:25know what your offer is in general, and we can find 2 things going forward, but you have to
- 52:29have something that you're starting from, a base that you're starting from.
- 52:32Okay.
- 52:33Okay.
- 52:34And so tell us about this, year end, biz biz business planning.
- 52:39That it's it's coming up soon.
- 52:41So tell everybody a bit about it and, where they can get information further on it or where
- 52:46they can just reach out to you to sign up for for this event.
- 52:50Absolutely.
- 52:51So on Wednesday, December 12th, I'm hosting a small group here in Burlington for an intuitive
- 52:58business planning full day workshop.
- 53:01So we'll be beginning by reviewing 2018.
- 53:04Celebrating.
- 53:05We were talking earlier about celebrating, your our wins.
- 53:09Celebrating what went really well, reflecting on some of the things that didn't go so well
- 53:14and doing a release.
- 53:15So you're not carrying the energy of beating yourself up for what didn't go well in 2018.
- 53:20We don't want you carrying that energy into 2019.
- 53:23Then we're gonna look at, giving the space for all of those ideas that you have for what
- 53:29you're considering doing for 2019.
- 53:31Tune into the energy of the ideas, prioritize some creative structure for the year ahead, and
- 53:36then start to map them out across every month so you can start to have your plan for how
- 53:41you're moving forward.
- 53:42So by the end of the day, you'll have, at least the the beginning outline, you'll have to still
- 53:47drill down a little bit more for all the fine details, but you'll know that in this month,
- 53:52I'm focusing on this.
- 53:53On this month, I'm gonna focus on that, or maybe these 3 months, I'm focusing on this
- 53:57project, and then I'm gonna do that launch, and then I'm gonna focus on that.
- 54:00So you're not running all over the place, you're able to manage your energy better, focus
- 54:05your efforts in a more productive way, and also then start to do your marketing planning so you
- 54:10can get your content calendar figured out and and create content that you can make once and
- 54:18use multiple times.
- 54:19So you create, alright, this month, I know that I need to talk about business planning safe for
- 54:252000.
- 54:26That's for December.
- 54:27In my December, I'm gonna be in November next at the end of next year, focusing my
- 54:31conversations on.
- 54:32The business planning for the following year.
- 54:34So I will be creating posts on why you do it.
- 54:37How do you do it?
- 54:38And then I can use it not only for blog posts, but I can then use it for Facebook posts,
- 54:43LinkedIn posts, and videos, all the same content, so you're not efforting as much.
- 54:48You're using all the same information, and then it flows into what you're offering is.
- 54:54Great.
- 54:54Well, it's that sounds like a fantastic day.
- 54:57So is there someone, somewhere people can go, to sign up for it, or what's the process for
- 55:03them to sign up for it?
- 55:05So if they went to my website, jlyall.comforward/events, on the left hand
- 55:13side, you'll find the event and be able to click on it and register there.
- 55:17Okay.
- 55:17Great.
- 55:18Well, this has been fascinating yet again.
- 55:22Talking to you about this and, you know, the level that's, you know, I've worked with
- 55:27coaches and I'm presently working with 1, but this is, again, a different kind of way of
- 55:32approaching, which is which really makes sense, right?
- 55:35Because initially, when you're right, when you get started, you're, like, you're waiting and
- 55:39you're you're knee deep and you're in the weeds, you know, you're you're trying to figure
- 55:43all that stuff out.
- 55:44And, be a couple years in now.
- 55:47I'm I'm clearer, but this really helps me to see how you could provide clarity to people
- 55:53that are in in that space because when I talked to some of our our, my colleagues, they'll talk
- 55:58about, oh, I shouldn't have done that.
- 56:01You know, it it took me offline.
- 56:03For, you know, 4 months or, you know, yeah, I got it done, but you know what?
- 56:07It really I didn't have fun.
- 56:10Yeah.
- 56:10There's a revenue stream, but it's Yeah.
- 56:13I I won't do it again.
- 56:14I've I've heard so, and I know that there's things that I've done even in this last year
- 56:18that I think, wow, I shouldn't have done that.
- 56:21Yeah.
- 56:21And I still will look at things that sometimes I get guided to do it, and it might not make
- 56:28sense then in that moment.
- 56:30However, the skill set that I learned or the relationships that I formed are still hopeful
- 56:36for moving forward.
- 56:38So there are some people who will be cursing.
- 56:41Oh, you know, I wish I'd left corporate sooner, but then they forget about that if they had
- 56:46left it the year before, they wouldn't have gotten that extra training that the corporation
- 56:50had paid for them to do that they're now able to use in their business.
- 56:53Right?
- 56:54Right.
- 56:54Right.
- 56:55It's always looking at the gift and those experiences.
- 56:59So when we can stop beating ourselves up for it too, like, I I get that there's that reflection
- 57:04of, like, Okay.
- 57:05So that's not quite the outcome that I was expecting and seeing what you can learn from
- 57:10it, but as long as you're not beating yourself up for it, what is what what are the gems that
- 57:15you can take away from it?
- 57:16And I'm sure that you must do that with all of your clients too, whether it's the coaching
- 57:20clients or the psychotherapy clients.
- 57:22Alright.
- 57:23Sure.
- 57:23This disaster happened, but you ended up being a stronger person on the other side of it.
- 57:28And what was it about who you're being that you learned?
- 57:31Right.
- 57:31Oh, no.
- 57:32It's it without a doubt, you learned so much about yourself.
- 57:36Like, every time you try something new and then you think, okay.
- 57:38Well, yes, I did gain skills, but then in, you know, like you said, when you go inside and
- 57:43kinda think about what would I what did I learn?
- 57:46What will I not repeat?
- 57:48What will be?
- 57:48What will, you know, how will this guide me differently?
- 57:51Absolutely.
- 57:52You're you gain so much from, you know, some of the new things that you you experienced.
- 57:57And then now you have all this additional knowledge, right, to bring with you.
- 58:02So that prior to doing something like an event, I did my first event this year, I learned a
- 58:06ton, and I learned how not to do it on my own again.
- 58:11Just because I was awfully tired after I because I I pulled it most of it, it off by
- 58:15myself.
- 58:16So, you know, so again, learning and more energy and those types of things, but it was a
- 58:22still ended up being quite successful.
- 58:24But again, you know, that like you said, that learning experience Did it add to my brand?
- 58:29Absolutely.
- 58:30Did I have people attend?
- 58:31Absolutely.
- 58:32Did we get a lot of exposure?
- 58:33Absolutely.
- 58:34And but I think from a business perspective, it took energy away from me that I would have
- 58:40used, you know, I could have used my energy in different ways by hiring or or subcontracting
- 58:47out a lot more parts that could have been done by others, right, which is kinda like what you
- 58:51said.
- 58:52Learn what learn what that genius is and stick to it.
- 58:56And then Yeah.
- 58:57Let Kyra try to kinda outsource, you know, the ones the parts that other people can, take care
- 59:02of better than you could.
- 59:04Yes.
- 59:04And I also believe that having that experience from the get go helps you understand how you
- 59:09still want things done and who you need to get, and it just helps still too.
- 59:14So it's amazing.
- 59:16Well, this has been a pleasure.
- 59:18Thank you so much.
- 59:19And, you know, you can I think video doesn't create the, the feeling that you get around,
- 59:25Jennifer?
- 59:25I could tell you then when I was sitting with her, in Mississauga, for the last well, the
- 59:30first time I met her, I sat next to her and they I could feel the I don't know what the
- 59:34energy was, but I could just it was somebody I I I said I have to talk to her.
- 59:39I just knew I had to talk to her.
- 59:40So I was It was really a pleasure, and then we saw each other again just recently.
- 59:45So thank you so much for sharing all your wisdom.
- 59:49For anybody that's, you know, at the stage, like she's saying, where you're kinda trying to
- 59:54give that get that clarity, that course, Burlington is, you know, obviously, in the GTA,
- 1:00:00we're not too far out here in the, Golden horseshoe.
- 1:00:03It's it's easy to get to.
- 1:00:05It's a one day right in your backyard.
- 1:00:08So definitely look it up.
- 1:00:10And, anything that you can do to get more authentic be connected to yourself, which is
- 1:00:17what I talk about with my brand, the authentic connection movement is we're helping ourselves.
- 1:00:22And the more anchored we are within ourselves, ultimately, what are we doing?
- 1:00:26We're better in our relationships.
- 1:00:28We're better in our friendships.
- 1:00:30We're better in our, you know, you know, our businesses.
- 1:00:33We're better in our community, and we're just overall radiating that that space.
- 1:00:39That genius, like you said, that we're meant to be in the world.
- 1:00:42And but that takes time.
- 1:00:44It takes time, and it takes commitment, and it takes slowing down.
- 1:00:50And, you know, what I would say is, you know, the intuity doesn't just happen.
- 1:00:55It's something that it's a muscle like anything else where you really have to start to learn to
- 1:01:00slow down and and develop that muscle so that it makes it easier to access.
- 1:01:05So, Jennifer, again, thank you so much for being here and for everybody listening, or
- 1:01:11watching.
