Speaker 1: Welcome to the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show Just ahead, aj Loop with Space City Corvettes talks about a road trip, road trip, road trip.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: To Kentucky, jeff has this week's racing calendar and Mr Mars offers a review of the 2025 Ram 1500.
• 0:33
Speaker 1: Howdy, along with Mike out of this world, mars, down there, we always need more.
• 0:38
Speaker 1: Jeff Zekin right here.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: I'm Don Armstrong right here, glad that you could join us.
• 0:44
Speaker 1: Our IT Director of Engineering, david Ainsley, is in the Youper Youper he's a Youper boy in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, an absolutely beautiful place 49 degree mornings 62 degree.
• 1:00
  Speaker 2: evenings.
• 1:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder what that is about.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: January 20th the weather report from up there in January.
• 1:08
Speaker 3: Well, that's why he's down here in January.
• 1:12
Speaker 1: No, but what is it like up there?
• 1:15
Speaker 2: Oh, we don't know, because no one's up there.
• 1:17
  Speaker 2: They all leave.
• 1:18
  Speaker 3: Pretty much.
• 1:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, don't they all leave Snow and close down the bridge and all kinds of stuff?
• 1:21
Speaker 2: Well, the people that do the tours, like the Painted Rocks, and they take the boats and the cruises and all that they pack up and they go south.
• 1:29
Speaker 2: Well, the lake freezes over.
• 1:30
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, most of it.
• 1:31
Speaker 2: In fact, that lake only changes four-degree temperature winter, summer because it's so vast, it's huge.
• 1:38
Speaker 2: But yeah, the people that do all that, they say we've got other businesses in warmer states during the winter.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: so if you're, if you're a boat captain and you're doing something down there, you're a boat captain down in for well, it's funny because uh, david's got a friend that lives not that far from him and they are a year rounders, which is rare, because in the winter time they don't can't take the boat because the lake is frozen, so they have these things that they take to work across the frozen lake to get to their job.
• 2:08
Speaker 3: Think about that for a minute I'm kind of thinking, yeah, I'm gonna go across the lake walking on ice no, no, not walking, it's a snow machine, yeah, yeah I'm gonna get on a two thousand pound machine that's?
• 2:20
  Speaker 1: I know that's the ice.
• 2:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's thicker than what you put in your glass.
• 2:24
Speaker 1: We used to go skating on the river there in Waukesha, wisconsin.
• 2:30
Speaker 1: It was thick enough and it got too thin they would put cones up.
• 2:33
Speaker 1: You can't go back over there, or you'd hear it cracking before you fall in, yeah that did AJ Loop with Space City Corvette Club and it looks as though they've got the mother trip coming up.
• 2:46
Speaker 1: Aj, it's good to talk to you, Good to see you, my friend.
• 2:50
Speaker 4: Great seeing you guys, great talking to you guys.
• 2:52
Speaker 4: Y'all been doing okay.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: We're doing good, doing good, so I want to know about this trip to the mothership.
• 3:01
Speaker 4: It will be the 30th anniversary of the opening of the National Corvette Museum.
• 3:06
Speaker 4: They do this caravan once every five years, so this will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the opening of the National Corvette Museum and it will take place on August 29th through 31st.
• 3:22
Speaker 4: And it's a pretty neat deal.
• 3:26
  Speaker 4: August 29th through 31st it's a pretty neat deal.
• 3:27
  Speaker 4: I did it in 2014.
• 3:30
Speaker 4: The Gulf Coast region at the time ended up with 454 vets Just in the Gulf Coast region.
• 3:37
Speaker 4: That's roughly 8 miles of cars on the road.
• 3:42
Speaker 4: If you've ever seen Smoky and the Bandit, toward the end, when they got the banners over the freeways saying you know, go bandit, they had people on freeways, on the overpass with signs that said welcome care man.
• 3:54
Speaker 4: We had helicopters, police, as far as on and off the freeway.
• 3:58
Speaker 4: They had corvette specialists that would work on cars maintenance-wise along the entire route just in case something happened to one of the cars.
• 4:07
Speaker 4: But the logistics and the planning of all that is just amazing.
• 4:12
Speaker 4: Glenn Johnson, who tries at the Corvette Club, was the road captain 10 years ago.
• 4:16
  Speaker 4: To this day.
• 4:18
Speaker 4: I still thank him for all the planning.
• 4:21
Speaker 4: It took him about five years to plan.
• 4:22
Speaker 1: So what do you do?
• 4:22
Speaker 1: You visit him in the hospital now.
• 4:25
Speaker 4: Man, you know, I tell you he is still at it.
• 4:31
Speaker 4: Bless his heart, man.
• 4:38
Speaker 1: All I can think of yeah, so it's a three-day event is what you're saying.
• 4:40
Speaker 4: It's a three-day event but depending on which caravan you go up with, it could be a week, it could be.
• 4:48
Speaker 4: You know, some of them might just want to get in the car and all but up there.
• 4:52
Speaker 4: But I can tell you so there's no real organized caravan from Houston, but there are two Texas caravans, and that would be the South Central Texas caravan and then the Texas Panhandle caravan.
• 5:07
Speaker 4: So the best thing to do is go on to the National Corvette Museum website, look to see what state you're in, to determine what's best fit for you.
• 5:16
Speaker 4: And then there's other people, like clubs, that are going to do a little bit different route to get there, but they'll have 8,000 to 10,000 Corvettes at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green.
• 5:30
Speaker 2: I wish I had the Talk about a parking lot.
• 5:33
Speaker 1: I wish I had the vendor license for the parking lot.
• 5:36
Speaker 1: A dollar a car would be just fine.
• 5:40
Speaker 1: The old soupy sales thing.
• 5:42
Speaker 1: Hey, can't send me a dollar.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, you wouldn't know anything about that, but whatever.
• 5:47
Speaker 3: So basically, if you I guess South Central, that would be San Antonio, Austin, that kind of part of the world, but you could look at Oklahoma maybe, or Louisiana even Now.
• 5:58
Speaker 1: wait just a minute.
• 5:59
Speaker 1: See, you're thinking way too far in advance.
• 6:01
Speaker 1: I'm thinking well, wait a minute.
• 6:03
Speaker 1: Houston's a much larger place than any of these other places.
• 6:06
Speaker 1: I'm sure that you guys have got some sort of a Houston troop that is going to meet the Central Texas guys, maybe in Texarkana or something.
• 6:19
Speaker 4: Are you asking me?
• 6:20
Speaker 4: Yes, I'm asking you.
• 6:21
Speaker 2: Are you asking me?
• 6:21
Speaker 2: Yes, I'm asking you what we're doing.
• 6:22
Speaker 2: I'm talking to you.
• 6:23
Speaker 2: I'm talking to me.
• 6:24
Speaker 2: I'm talking to you, you're talking to me.
• 6:27
Speaker 4: We're friends and everything, but what we're doing I'm not going to tell you.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: Because you don't want the word to get out.
• 6:34
  Speaker 4: That's exactly right.
• 6:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, because a lot of them are meeting up in Texarkana, from what I read on the website.
• 6:40
Speaker 3: In Houston I'm not Houston, but the South Central and the Pano, like you're talking about they end up in Texarkana for the first night and then they move on from there.
• 6:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, that route sounds like a blast to me from what I've heard.
• 6:59
Speaker 4: I have some friends of mine that are going on that route.
• 7:00
Speaker 4: We're taking a little bit different route to get there, which I'm looking forward to.
• 7:07
Speaker 4: It's going to be nice.
• 7:08
Speaker 4: It's going to be a little bit more.
• 7:09
Speaker 4: It'll take us, I think, four days to get up there, so it's different.
• 7:15
Speaker 3: Taking the scenic route.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: Well, it must be nice to be rich and be able to take all this time off in your car and doing all those kinds of things.
• 7:23
Speaker 4: Well, I am sorry that you're confused about that.
• 7:26
Speaker 4: The rich thing Just fortunate that I'm able to take the time off to go do that.
• 7:35
  Speaker 3: Yeah, working hard.
• 7:37
Speaker 4: But it is a blast.
• 7:38
Speaker 4: I can tell you something that y'all may not be aware of.
• 7:40
  Speaker 4: A blast.
• 7:40
Speaker 4: I can tell you something that y'all may not be aware of.
• 7:41
Speaker 4: They did make a 30th anniversary.
• 7:45
Speaker 4: The National Corvette Museum 30th anniversary Z06 convertible that they're going to raffle off.
• 7:51
Speaker 1: Nice, yeah, pretty cool.
• 7:54
Speaker 2: You have to be present to win.
• 7:56
Speaker 1: I can only imagine the line to the bathroom.
• 7:59
  Speaker 1: You've got 8,000.
• 8:02
Speaker 3: Corvettes At Don's age.
• 8:04
Speaker 3: These things are important.
• 8:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, and what they're doing this year on the way in the way the traffic will come in.
• 8:13
Speaker 4: When you get there you'll be able to go around the plant and then go to the stoplight I have a stoplight shut off, obviously and then bring it into the museum down 350 Corvette Drive.
• 8:26
Speaker 4: It was kind of neat.
• 8:27
Speaker 4: As you're coming in you get to go around the plant, the road around the plant and then get to go across the street.
• 8:35
Speaker 1: It's kind of neat how they're going to bring us in there.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: I can only imagine the logistics in trying to get 8,000 cars of any kind, much less picky Corvette owners that don't touch my car.
• 8:49
Speaker 3: Coming in from different areas of the country got different ideas.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds like a great time.
• 8:55
Speaker 1: I can only imagine the walk through the display field of all the cars.
• 9:01
Speaker 1: It'd take you two days just to see them all at least.
• 9:04
Speaker 4: Well, it's almost like a car show outside the museum.
• 9:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, not to discredit going inside the museum.
• 9:12
Speaker 4: Then you've got all the different displays they've done over the years.
• 9:15
Speaker 4: They've really amped up and really done a great job with some of their exhibits, like the Love fair and the spear, uh, where the sinkhole was.
• 9:26
Speaker 4: Uh, in june 30th of last year, on corvette day, they unveiled what was called america's love affair and they made all that like a video screens all throughout on the bottom.
• 9:38
Speaker 4: That just made that room come to life, because before it was, it was neat but it was a little boring, not now.
• 9:44
  Speaker 4: It's amazing what they've done.
• 9:46
Speaker 4: Um, and then this past year we celebrated 71st birthday of corvette.
• 9:53
Speaker 4: Uh, we were out at garage ultimate.
• 9:55
Speaker 4: All the seven corvette clubs came together and we had 302 cars out there.
• 10:00
Speaker 4: National corvette museum store came in and we had 302 cars out there.
• 10:04
Speaker 4: National Corvette Museum store came in and we had Cary Ridge, lexi Stewart.
• 10:05
Speaker 4: So as a matter of fact, I'm wearing one of the hats from the National Corvette Museum, Nice hat yeah, thank you.
• 10:12
Speaker 4: I saw that I'm like red, white and blue.
• 10:14
Speaker 4: Fourth of July coming up.
• 10:15
Speaker 4: I got to get it, absolutely.
• 10:17
Speaker 4: I bought a bunch of other stuff that I didn't need, but it was great and we ended up raising uh twelve thousand three hundred eighteen dollars, uh for the national corvette museum nice, very nice.
• 10:28
Speaker 1: you know it's, uh, I, every time I talk to you, I don't know whether to love you or to hate you, because, because, because, because I, I, it's like I remember the corvette club days.
• 10:40
Speaker 1: I haven't been a member of a Corvette Club a long, long time, but those are the fun things that we used to do back in the day.
• 10:48
Speaker 1: And you know, you're in touch with your other Corvette friends and boy, it just sounds, it speaks to me, as it were.
• 10:58
  Speaker 4: How good.
• 10:59
Speaker 4: Yeah, I probably should have, I guess, called y'all.
• 11:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, you should have, but I wasn't going to bring that up it was on a Sunday too, so you didn't have the radio show.
• 11:09
Speaker 4: It was 10 to 2 and it was hot and meekless to say.
• 11:12
Speaker 4: But thank god, a lot of the people that own garages I mean, if you ever saw some of these garages that garage ultimate here in Friendswood they live in them.
• 11:21
Speaker 1: They're amazing yes, we know a couple of the people that actually build and, uh and and sell those garages.
• 11:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, we've been down that road.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: It's beautiful man cave.
• 11:32
Speaker 4: They're gorgeous so they open them up, so we speak out of it.
• 11:35
Speaker 4: The uh, the heat inside the ac, and a lot of people, uh, catered.
• 11:38
Speaker 4: They had fruit, kebabs, cookies, brownies, chips, you know, lots of water and drinks.
• 11:44
Speaker 4: And then the clubhouse had the National Corvette Museum store and they sold a ton of their items, which was good and it was just a great day.
• 11:55
Speaker 4: But a great day because we got together and celebrated and united all the seven Corvette clubs.
• 11:59
Speaker 4: I think that was great.
• 12:00
Speaker 4: We had Sam Houston, san Jacinto, we had Coach, we had NACC, we had Accelerated Vents, northwest Vents and Rides and Space City Corvette Club and we had 302 cars out there 302, wow and.
• 12:14
Speaker 4: Space City Corvette Club had 91 of those 302.
• 12:17
Speaker 4: I got you ragging on us.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's talk about your twice-a-year event.
• 12:23
Speaker 1: I assume that that's coming up in the fall.
• 12:26
Speaker 4: Yes sir, october 12th we have our 12th annual Good Grubbing Gears Fall Car Show.
• 12:31
Speaker 4: It'll be in Stevenson's Park in Friendswood and that's an open-class car show, so we want to see everything Lincolns, pontiacs.
• 12:41
Speaker 1: Is that a Saturday?
• 12:42
  Speaker 4: or a Sunday.
• 12:42
  Speaker 4: It's on a Saturday.
• 12:43
Speaker 4: That's the one you came out to.
• 12:45
  Speaker 4: Yes.
• 12:46
Speaker 2: Last year, last year.
• 12:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a great car show.
• 12:49
Speaker 1: It's underneath all the trees and every kind of car that you could possibly imagine, not just Corvettes, and I really like the variety.
• 12:58
Speaker 1: You know that show pulls in cars from really all over the area.
• 13:03
  Speaker 1: It's a very well-done show, I think.
• 13:06
  Speaker 4: Thank you.
• 13:06
Speaker 4: We greatly appreciate that.
• 13:08
Speaker 4: We'll have our major sponsor out on there again, bayway Chevrolet Electric, eye Customs, and we'll have Gulf State Trucking as our major sponsors.
• 13:18
  Speaker 4: They'll be there.
• 13:18
Speaker 4: We'll have Cole helping hand.
• 13:20
Speaker 4: They'll be doing our food.
• 13:22
Speaker 4: He had 253 cars there last year.
• 13:25
Speaker 4: We raised $100,000 for Tim Miller and Texas EquiSearch.
• 13:29
Speaker 4: So far from the spring car show we had 160-plus Corvettes there Corvettes only and we raised $40,000 for Tim.
• 13:38
Speaker 4: So we're ahead of last year's total on that.
• 13:41
Speaker 4: So good Lord willing, with good weather, we'll be like the Ants to a victory.
• 13:44
Speaker 1: So is there an entry fee?
• 13:45
Speaker 1: I assume there is.
• 13:47
Speaker 4: Well, for you guys it'll be double, but for me I think it's going to be.
• 13:53
  Speaker 4: I remember right.
• 13:55
  Speaker 4: It's $45.
• 13:56
  Speaker 4: Don't quote me.
• 13:57
  Speaker 4: It's either $40 or $45.
• 13:58
  Speaker 4: I can't remember.
• 13:59
  Speaker 4: I haven't seen the flyer.
• 14:00
  Speaker 3: We'll go with $45.
• 14:06
Speaker 4: So what's the name of the show?
• 14:07
Speaker 4: It's the Good Grub and Gears Fall Car Show.
• 14:11
Speaker 2: Good Grub and Gears.
• 14:12
Speaker 4: Good Grub and Gears.
• 14:14
  Speaker 1: And where can?
• 14:16
Speaker 1: Is it already listed on Facebook or someplace where everybody can go?
• 14:22
Speaker 4: Well, so we haven't opened up the registration yet.
• 14:24
Speaker 4: We're about to do that this week, if you go to SpaceCityCorporateClubcom.
• 14:30
Speaker 4: But what we did do last year is because we have a cash match.
• 14:35
Speaker 4: All cash donations that are made, our club will match them up to $20,000.
• 14:42
Speaker 4: So we started sending people at scccinfo and what I can do is I can let you guys know either way you better.
• 14:52
Speaker 4: Oh, yes, sir, I'll send you the flyer.
• 14:54
Speaker 4: I'll send you where we're going to go to registration, but I'm pretty confident at this point it's going to be spacecitycorporateclubcom.
• 15:01
Speaker 4: We've been blessed to be on Fox News a couple times and, to make it short while we're on air, it's seccinfo and it's a splooshed one page, a splash page that you can go make a registration and donation and everything's right there, instead of trying to go to our website.
• 15:20
Speaker 2: He's heading up the end of August to do that.
• 15:21
Speaker 2: Maybe we can get him back on in a Zoom call up there at the end of August.
• 15:25
Speaker 2: Have him chime back in.
• 15:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, generally he also comes out over to.
• 15:31
Speaker 2: Woody's, I'm saying from the museum, his trip up to the museum.
• 15:34
Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, get him there.
• 15:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, I would definitely do that.
• 15:38
Speaker 1: Okay, well, we'll depend on that.
• 15:40
Speaker 1: Mr Marr's making a note of that, so don't play hooky.
• 15:45
  Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
• 15:48
Speaker 1: Well, listen, man, it's great to talk to you, get caught up.
• 15:50
Speaker 1: So August 29th through the 31st is the big Corvette caravan to the mothership in Bowling Green.
• 15:59
Speaker 1: I can imagine what it's like.
• 16:01
Speaker 1: What do you got to go about 50 miles outside of Bowling Green to find a motel room somewhere.
• 16:07
Speaker 4: Well, actually the hardest part of this whole entire deal is finding a room in Bowling Green or on the outskirts.
• 16:14
Speaker 4: Luckily, I've got one in Bowling Green, so I'm blessed I'm staying at the Embassy Suites.
• 16:20
Speaker 4: If you ever go to Bowling Green, the place to stay in Bowling Green at the Embassy Suites.
• 16:24
Speaker 4: If you ever go to Bowling Green, the place to stay in Bowling Green is the Embassy Suites.
• 16:26
  Speaker 4: It's all car-related Corvette.
• 16:29
  Speaker 4: It's just new.
• 16:30
Speaker 4: It's probably been open less than two years Fantastic.
• 16:34
Speaker 1: Well, if we go, you're going to get the phone call.
• 16:38
  Speaker 4: Can I bring?
• 16:38
Speaker 3: my sleeping bag and put it on your room floor.
• 16:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, I got no place to stay, that's right.
• 16:45
Speaker 1: And then October the 12th.
• 16:46
Speaker 1: Saturday, october the 12th Stevenson Park in Friendswood.
• 16:50
  Speaker 1: Yes sir.
• 16:51
Speaker 1: Good Grub and Gears Car Show.
• 16:53
  Speaker 1: It's a cruise here.
• 16:54
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, is it a judge cruise in.
• 16:56
  Speaker 4: It's a judge show.
• 16:57
Speaker 4: We have, I think, almost nearly 50 classes, and last year we had 253 cars on there.
• 17:08
Speaker 4: Very nice, so hopefully we're not competing against cars and guitars this year, so I'm going to imagine we have a shot at cracking 300 this year.
• 17:19
Speaker 1: Well, good luck to you, AJ.
• 17:21

• 20:10
Speaker 1: All right Time now for the racing calendar sponsored by Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge.
• 20:16
Speaker 2: Thank you, texas Muscle Car.
• 20:17
Speaker 2: We got NASCAR tomorrow.
• 20:20
Speaker 2: It is on the streets of chicago, chicago road course.
• 20:23
Speaker 2: It is at 4 30 pm eastern time, which central time is 3 30 uh, it is going to be on nbc mike and tickets are available speaking of that, did you see or hear that michael andretti's thinking about getting into, uh, into, nhra drag racing?
• 20:38
Speaker 1: yeah, I told you that like three weeks ago.
• 20:40
Speaker 2: Well, okay, it was in passing, but yeah, I'm keeping up with the guy.
• 20:47
Speaker 1: And I haven't given you any reports lately, because I guess he's doing this in retaliation, because Formula One won't let him in.
• 20:52
Speaker 2: No, they're going into Formula One and they're going to kick the door down when they do it.
• 20:55
Speaker 2: But that's not official.
• 20:58
Speaker 2: Well, no, not official.
• 20:59
Speaker 2: But last week Mercedes won and Toto, the guy that's in charge, the group Toto.
• 21:05
Speaker 2: No, the guy's name is Toto.
• 21:06
Speaker 2: He's walking around like a big old peacock.
• 21:10
Speaker 2: His team won First win he's had in like three years, so something like that, mr Toto.
• 21:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, anyways, don't like the guy.
• 21:17
Speaker 2: It's kind of like Tata, speaking of which Formula One is in Qatar.
• 21:23
Speaker 2: They're doing the Qatar British Grand Prix.
• 21:24
Speaker 2: The practice was going from the 5th all the way through tomorrow, and then the race is tomorrow.
• 21:29
  Speaker 2: Nhra is off.
• 21:31
Speaker 2: They're going to be on the 14th.
• 21:37
Speaker 2: We're off until the 14th on the NHRA, and I don't know where they're going to be running after that because it's to be determined.
• 21:41
Speaker 2: Indy is running tomorrow at their Mid-Ohio.
• 21:45
Speaker 2: Imsa is off tomorrow.
• 21:47
Speaker 2: So enjoy the racing schedule.
• 21:49
Speaker 2: If you're going to be rained out with anything, just turn on the TV and watch racing.
• 21:52
Speaker 2: You know it's funny.
• 21:54
Speaker 1: You would think that every racing organization would have an event this weekend, you'd think, but they don't.
• 22:00
  Speaker 1: Well, it's.
• 22:03
  Speaker 2: July, 4th weekend.
• 22:03
Speaker 1: Fourth weekend, yeah, I mean everybody's off looking for something to do other than the fireworks, and they could do that too.
• 22:09
Speaker 1: They could do it, Mr Mars.
• 22:12
Speaker 1: It's time for a car review, and actually it's not time for a car review.
• 22:16
  Speaker 1: It's time for a truck review the 2025 Ram 1500.
• 22:21
Speaker 3: Yes, and this year for the 25, they have a new trim level called the Tungsten.
• 22:26
Speaker 3: So the Ram 1500 actually comes in nine different trim levels and we happen to have.
• 22:32
Speaker 3: It starts at the bighorn, down at the bottom, it goes all the way up again.
• 22:38
Speaker 3: The Tungsten is the new top trim level Four by four.
• 22:40
Speaker 3: Down at the bottom, it goes all the way up again.
• 22:41
Speaker 3: The tungsten is the new top trim level 4x4.
• 22:42
Speaker 3: And it is a full-size pickup, 4-door crew cab.
• 22:48
Speaker 3: You can get the 1500.
• 22:49
Speaker 3: You can actually get two different bed lengths.
• 22:52
Speaker 3: But this is the five-passenger luxury model.
• 22:55
Speaker 3: Now, on the exterior of it you're going to find all kinds of things like the retracting doorsteps.
• 23:01
Speaker 3: You've got the chrome mirrors, the electric folding heated mirrors, roll on some nice 22 inch wheels and had some really nice ivory white paint on it.
• 23:12
Speaker 3: That just really stands out in the in the bright sunshine.
• 23:15
Speaker 3: It just it really looks good.
• 23:16
Speaker 3: So you get to the inside of it and you're going to see that they stepped up.
• 23:21
Speaker 3: They already had a really nice interior.
• 23:23
Speaker 3: They were known for the luxury interiors on their trucks, but this goes a step further Leather seating, of course.
• 23:28
Speaker 3: Front and the rear seats are heated and ventilated.
• 23:32
Speaker 3: Wow, now the thing I really liked about the back of it the rear seat area, the rear passenger area.
• 23:37
Speaker 3: It's got a flat floor in it and it makes it a whole lot easier to put stuff back there, makes it a whole lot easier to reach back behind the seat and move something around.
• 23:45
Speaker 3: But you really look at it and you raise the seat up and you could do a lot of things back there with that flat floor.
• 23:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, now the other thing that was great.
• 23:52
Speaker 3: It comes standard with a 14 and a half inch center stack screen.
• 23:55
Speaker 3: Now this is the big, tall one that you can do all kinds of things with.
• 23:58
Speaker 3: Split it, split and make multi-screens out of it.
• 24:01
Speaker 3: You're going to find all your convenience controls there, your nav, even your camera selection for your front and rear cameras, and also up front on the interior.
• 24:11
Speaker 3: You're going to find that it has the rear passenger screen interactive that they can use to get into it and do some things with it instead of messing with the center stack.
• 24:25
Speaker 3: And we had the digital rear view mirror, which is the camera shows up up there and you get your surround view and everything there.
• 24:32
Speaker 3: Also has the heads up display and a 23 speaker sound system.
• 24:39
Speaker 3: Now the Tungsten logo, I will say it's got a real nice interior at the top of the console.
• 24:44
Speaker 3: Ram's been known to put the tungsten logo up there or logos up there.
• 24:48
Speaker 3: This one, they put a tungsten logo up there, big, nice belt buckle looking thing that's got, uh, the bin number on it.
• 24:55
Speaker 3: Very nice, looks very nice.
• 24:56
Speaker 3: But if you leave it out in the driveway All day in the sun, do not lay your arm on top of that thing or you will be a tungsten fanboy from now on.
• 25:05
Speaker 3: Now you get up there Under the hood.
• 25:08
Speaker 3: So this is their new engine lineup and it has it's a 6 cylinder, and in the work truck you can get a V6, but other than that You're looking at a straight 6.
• 25:18
Speaker 1: What's wrong with that?
• 25:19
Speaker 1: Nothing wrong with that.
• 25:21
  Speaker 3: Straight 6 engine.
• 25:21
Speaker 3: I love those, particularly these six.
• 25:21
Speaker 3: So we had the three.
• 25:21
Speaker 3: What's wrong with that?
• 25:21
Speaker 3: Nothing wrong with that.
• 25:22
Speaker 3: No, no, wait, straight six engine.
• 25:22
Speaker 3: I love those well, particularly these 3.0 liter.
• 25:26
Speaker 3: Uh, we had the straight six high output version.
• 25:30
Speaker 3: There's two different versions, so we had 540 horses, 520 pound, 21 pound feet of torque out of this straight six.
• 25:38
Speaker 3: So it's backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, so there is more than enough power there.
• 25:44
Speaker 3: In fact, there's so much power.
• 25:45
Speaker 3: The haul rating on this truck as it came was 2300 pounds and it will tow 11 580 pounds.
• 25:52
Speaker 3: So it's not quite as much as some of the others, but it's more than the average person is going to ever tow with a half ton truck.
• 26:02
Speaker 3: Now the epa says you should be looking for around 17 miles to a gallon combined on this vehicle.
• 26:07
  Speaker 3: Well, I drove it 312 miles and I got 15.9.
• 26:10
Speaker 3: It is a lot of fun to drive.
• 26:13
Speaker 3: I had a lot of time inside the city.
• 26:15
Speaker 3: About a third of my mileage was inside the city.
• 26:17
Speaker 3: So, uh, you could probably do a little bit better than that if you drove it more.
• 26:20
Speaker 3: Like don does now the ride and drive on this vehicle I.
• 26:24
Speaker 3: So I got out of the 2015 ram truck that we used for the show and I like driving it.
• 26:30
Speaker 3: It drives very good, it's got a sweet spot on the speed and everything.
• 26:33
Speaker 3: But I got into this one with the coal spring suspension, the air ride, the nice seats on it, the the glass that dampens the sound, and it was so quiet.
• 26:44
Speaker 3: I was surprised at how much difference there was between a truck I liked and this truck that I got into, that I fell in love with because of the way it rode, the way it handled, the things it would do.
• 26:56
Speaker 3: You could lower it to get in and out if you wanted to.
• 26:58
Speaker 3: It was just a lot of things on this truck I really liked.
• 27:02
Speaker 3: Now the base model price for the new 1500 for the tradesman is $45,020.
• 27:07
Speaker 3: Base trim price on the tungsten is $89,070.
• 27:12
  Speaker 3: Wow.
• 27:13
Speaker 3: Now the MSRP as tested $91,085.
• 27:18
  Speaker 3: Oh my God.
• 27:19
Speaker 3: Now you put that up against some of the others.
• 27:22
Speaker 3: If you're looking at base price of the top trim levels, ford F-150, the Platinum is up around $73,800.
• 27:28
Speaker 3: And this is 24 pricing.
• 27:30
Speaker 3: They haven't got their 25 pricing that I could find.
• 27:32
Speaker 3: The 24 Chevy Silverado, the High Country, is $66,500 to start, the 24 GMC Denali at $72,395 for the Sierra.
• 27:42
  Speaker 3: So base.
• 27:44
Speaker 3: Starting the base price on this Tungsten is a little bit higher than the others, but it's got lots of stuff in it.
• 27:51
Speaker 3: It's a really nice truck If you're looking for something that's more of a luxury family truck $91,000.
• 27:58
  Speaker 1: I like it.
• 27:58
  Speaker 1: It's a big truck.
• 27:59
Speaker 3: A big, nice truck, like I say, with that flat floor in the back.
• 28:04
Speaker 3: You can pull it up, you can put a bunch of cargo in there, a bunch of stuff in there, a bunch of kids with a mattress that's kind of what I'm thinking.
• 28:11
Speaker 3: You could do that too, music equipment, so that's my report of the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten.
