- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30It is chilly this morning. Too much.
- 0:34Anyway, let's talk about resistance, because I'm
- 0:37resisting going into cold weather and I am focused on how
- 0:43much I don't like it. And the you know of course of
- 0:47that lesson then ends up showing up somewhere else in my life
- 0:50when my son is resisting doing his Spanish corrections to his
- 0:54assignment. Just the fact that he has the
- 0:56ability to redo it is pretty amazing.
- 1:00And I'm trying to remind him of that.
- 1:01And I'm saying I'm not understanding why you're
- 1:03resisting so much. And then I listen to myself and
- 1:07I'm like, why am I resisting the change of the seasons when I
- 1:09know it's part of the process? And throughout the day, I just
- 1:13noticed that this was yesterday and throughout the day I just
- 1:17noticed that there's like lots and lots and lots of resistance
- 1:21going on. So when I woke up this morning
- 1:23and one of the first things I was like, OK, I want to focus on
- 1:27getting rid of that resistance and just opening up and saying,
- 1:31OK, what am I learning from being so resistant with all of
- 1:34this? And it what, what lessons can I
- 1:37take with me into this day so that I stop doing it?
- 1:41And what's interesting is, you know, there's an old phrase what
- 1:44you resist, persist. And it could not be more true
- 1:49because the more you resist the the learning, the more you
- 1:52resist feeling a certain way about the cold weather and going
- 1:56through all this, the more you know, you're going to have the
- 1:58the rough experience. And so I was like, OK, when I
- 2:02work on this today, I'm going to pull out, like, and I know I'm
- 2:05being a colossal baby for those of you who are in much colder
- 2:08places than I am. But I'm like, OK, I'm going to
- 2:10get a hat. I'm going to get my big jacket
- 2:12out. I got jeans.
- 2:13I got my hiking boots on. I'm set.
- 2:15So I can feel good. And then magically, because I
- 2:18equipped myself for it, I didn't seem to hate it quite so much
- 2:23because I embraced it in a different way.
- 2:25I embraced the pattern of it a different way.
- 2:27And all of a sudden the outcome changes.
- 2:30So when you resist change, when you resist things, you have to
- 2:37put leverage on yourself and say, OK, do you choose to keep
- 2:40feeling this way? You know, if I ask myself, do I
- 2:43choose to keep feeling this way and feeling so?
- 2:45Gross about it. No.
- 2:47I mean, granted, I do prefer the growing seasons, but I
- 2:51understand that that's not how nature works.
- 2:53I understand that I have to let go of things.
- 2:55And in it just the reality of the world is when you resist the
- 3:00learning that you have being presented to you in any way,
- 3:03shape or form, you end up recreating it over and over and
- 3:07over to drive yourself insane. So if you are in a situation
- 3:10where things are not working out for you at work, and you are.
- 3:15Focused on the fact that they're not working out and you keep
- 3:18thinking about it over and over again rather than saying, OK,
- 3:22this is happening, what can I do to change this?
- 3:25Or what can I do to learn from this?
- 3:27Or what can I do to move through this?
- 3:30It's all going to stop the resistance and then as soon as
- 3:33you start the learning process, everything shifts.
- 3:36And this shows up consistently for me in my personal life over
- 3:40and over and over. If I just focus on that piece, I
- 3:44always end up better because I recognize I can shift.
- 3:47At the moment I shift it takes place.
- 3:51So really, sit down with yourself and if you're having
- 3:54trouble or you're resisting certain things like this time of
- 3:57year brings up a lot for people. We're getting ready to go into
- 3:59the holidays. Some people are like, Oh my God,
- 4:01now I've got to talk about this whole thing with the holidays
- 4:05and who's going to sit where and why are we going to Uncle Mac's
- 4:08house? And I can't stand him.
- 4:10And we all have so much emotion around the holidays for some of
- 4:15us. I have a very dear friend who is
- 4:18like the day after Halloween is all excited about the fact that
- 4:22we should have Christmas music on.
- 4:24I am not that person I want to experience one holiday at a
- 4:29time, so I'm not thinking about the the holiday season of
- 4:34anything else except Thanksgiving.
- 4:36Right now I'm focusing on Thanksgiving and what I can be
- 4:39grateful for. And November is all about
- 4:41gratitude. So.
- 4:44If you start focusing on the fact that you, you've got to,
- 4:48like, not resist all of the crap that's about to happen or come
- 4:52up over this, then you can say, OK, what can I take into this?
- 4:55What can I learn from this? How can I be different in this?
- 4:59What's a better way for me to show up with this?
- 5:02Bunches of questions that you can ask yourself that will put
- 5:04you in a better frame of mind, and then you won't feel so
- 5:08daunted by it all. So hopefully now you are going
- 5:12to not resist all of these challenges that you're being
- 5:15presented with and embrace them and make shifts with them.
- 5:19OK my friends, I hope you have a very blessed day and I will see
- 5:22you tomorrow. Bye.
