- 0:00Speaker 1: They took care of business. I know, you know, players
- 0:03Speaker 1: have short memories, but I know the guys remembered what
- 0:05Speaker 1: happened a couple of nights ago against Xavier. I think
- 0:07Speaker 1: they put that into play today.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Oh, no doubt about it. I mean, hey, these guys
- 0:11Speaker 2: have been nipping at our heels for for a few
- 0:14Speaker 2: years now, and you know, they they really know how
- 0:18Speaker 2: to compete. I didn't like the way that we responded
- 0:20Speaker 2: on you know, on Wednesday night. Knowing what we know
- 0:25Speaker 2: about Xavier, we shouldn't be surprised that they're going to
- 0:27Speaker 2: keep clawing and keep coming. And you know, they scored late.
- 0:31Speaker 2: We didn't, and I felt like I didn't feel like
- 0:32Speaker 2: we put it in cruise controls. But but we got it.
- 0:36Speaker 2: We have it had to have a better edge, and
- 0:37Speaker 2: Charlie West just provided that, you know. I mean, it's
- 0:40Speaker 2: just so I'm so proud of him and and made it.
- 0:43Speaker 2: You know, it took us a little bit of a
- 0:44Speaker 2: little bit of time to get the offense going against
- 0:47Speaker 2: their starter. But that second time around the order with
- 0:49Speaker 2: the hard contact, you know, after we're SPOLEI reaches, I
- 0:53Speaker 2: think he I think he reached on a walk and
- 0:54Speaker 2: then spur Daniels Minnick. You know, right in a row,
- 0:57Speaker 2: they're really hard contact, and you know that that was
- 1:00Speaker 2: a fun inning, and and then we just kept kept
- 1:02Speaker 2: the hammer down. You know, there's pressure, there's traffic every inning.
- 1:04Speaker 2: I think we only had one one two three inning
- 1:07Speaker 2: the whole day, and you know, really proud of the
- 1:09Speaker 2: way that the bats responded. I thought we played good defense.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I think they give Caleb and error for falling down
- 1:15Speaker 2: on a tough I.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Wish I was the official score.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I don't think that's one.
- 1:20Speaker 1: That was his only era of the season.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I think, well that that should be a race. I mean,
- 1:25Speaker 2: he's making a tough backhand play on the gap and
- 1:27Speaker 2: if it gets by him, it's a double. He prevents
- 1:29Speaker 2: it from getting buy him and he's penalized from making
- 1:31Speaker 2: a hustle playing falling down. But you know, it's the
- 1:34Speaker 2: only thing I could really complain about today. I thought
- 1:36Speaker 2: we did a really good job. But you know, even
- 1:38Speaker 2: Garbauski getting thrown out at third base, he just with
- 1:41Speaker 2: one out, it's a good bass running play. He just
- 1:43Speaker 2: didn't go right away. He's got to go right away
- 1:45Speaker 2: on the read. He didn't get a great read on it.
- 1:48Speaker 2: But really happy with the way that we performed. And
- 1:50Speaker 2: I thought again, I thought, Charlie, who's who hasn't been
- 1:53Speaker 2: in that position in our uniform, but certainly has. He
- 1:56Speaker 2: looked very experienced in a pressure game with our backs
- 1:59Speaker 2: up against the wall. He's been there in high school
- 2:01Speaker 2: and he took that experience with him today and did
- 2:04Speaker 2: not disappoint. He was really special.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty six batters faced eighty nine pitches, six and
- 2:10Speaker 1: a thirty A little bit of control issue there in
- 2:12Speaker 1: the seventh inning, but Sean Finn came in and you
- 2:15Speaker 1: went the rest of away with him. I was wondering
- 2:17Speaker 1: what you might do you had a big lead, might
- 2:19Speaker 1: just throw a couple other guys in there, But you
- 2:21Speaker 1: stayed with him.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, we got close. I mean, we just
- 2:24Speaker 2: wanted the game to get over with and you know,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I don't know if we'll have him tomorrow now with
- 2:28Speaker 2: the number of pitches that he threw. But he just
- 2:30Speaker 2: he was a little wild. Maybe he needed to get
- 2:32Speaker 2: that out of his system too. I mean, but he
- 2:34Speaker 2: did strike a lot of guys out, and I thought
- 2:36Speaker 2: he minimized. I thought the best job that he did
- 2:38Speaker 2: was in the seventh inheriting a crummy situation there with
- 2:40Speaker 2: the bases loaded after three straight walks, gets one out
- 2:43Speaker 2: and then walks in another, but then minimize, you know,
- 2:47Speaker 2: just one run there with the bases loaded and went out.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I'll take that any day. And he didn't have to
- 2:51Speaker 2: be a hero. And I thought he's just overthrown, trying
- 2:53Speaker 2: to do too much and yanked a couple of fastballs
- 2:56Speaker 2: and a couple sliders. But his stuff is very good.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You can see. I mean what strikeouts and that short
- 3:01Speaker 2: he did, yeah, amount of you know, walk to Yeah,
- 3:04Speaker 2: I mean, he's he's got electric stuff. So hopefully we'll
- 3:07Speaker 2: have him tomorrow. It's going to be all hands on deck,
- 3:09Speaker 2: you know, and get two ball games to go win.
- 3:12Speaker 2: But we have an opportunity now to win another championship.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be something else to have you done that before?
- 3:17Speaker 1: Come back and won four games out of the losers.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Clemson in twenty ten or twenty eleven. I know that.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I don't know if we've done it in a conference
- 3:27Speaker 2: turn where we must have done it at some point, right,
- 3:29Speaker 2: haven't we? I don't know. I got to look it up.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I do a good problem to have, I guess, yeah, yeah, right,
- 3:33Speaker 2: you're happy, But we did do it in twenty eleven
- 3:36Speaker 2: and Clemson. After losing the first one in Coastal Carolina,
- 3:38Speaker 2: we charged back and found a way to come out
- 3:41Speaker 2: of loser's bracket and win two against those guys. So
- 3:43Speaker 2: you can do that as a program. You can do
- 3:45Speaker 2: it against anybody. And I know it's a long time ago,
- 3:47Speaker 2: but these guys are capable of beating anybody. And if
- 3:50Speaker 2: our offense, you have to hit. Ed Blankmeyer from Saint
- 3:53Speaker 2: John's legendary coach told me a long time he goes
- 3:56Speaker 2: you got to hit in the postseason. You can't. You
- 3:58Speaker 2: can't just rely on pitching in defense. You have to
- 3:59Speaker 2: hit in college baseball and and I think that's that
- 4:03Speaker 2: holds true more often than not. So we've hit. You know,
- 4:07Speaker 2: we've hit all three games. Didn't hit quite as well
- 4:09Speaker 2: in the first game, but you know, I have no
- 4:11Speaker 2: complaints with the way that we played today. I'm really
- 4:13Speaker 2: happy that they got another opportunity tomorrow to win out
- 4:17Speaker 2: here in Ohio.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, A blank By are one of my favorite guys.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I love that guy. They won ten championships. You won
- 4:22Speaker 1: five in this conference, but the top four guys.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And they were in a lot longer. Mike.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We we took a little vacation. I know that's true.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But if I do the numbers, you're right there. I
- 4:32Speaker 1: trust me. I know you're right there. Top of the order. Hey,
- 4:35Speaker 1: two h's Forspoli, two for Spur, three for Daniels, three
- 4:38Speaker 1: for Minnick. I mean, these guys are just raking up there.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's uh, you know, those guys have to hit.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Coach Mac and I were talking earlier today, went and
- 4:46Speaker 2: got a quick clift in before we came to the ballpark,
- 4:48Speaker 2: and he said, you know, our Daniels and Minnick have
- 4:50Speaker 2: to hit. Daniels and Minnick hit, we hit, and and
- 4:54Speaker 2: everybody in the lineup, you know, did get at least one.
- 4:57Speaker 2: You know, it was it was a good offensive day. Uh.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I thought Brian, you know, Brian needed that one today too.
- 5:03Speaker 2: He's been scuffling a little bit and taking called strike
- 5:06Speaker 2: threes and he would need that. That two RBI single
- 5:08Speaker 2: was huge for him too. Hopefully that gets him going
- 5:10Speaker 2: a little bit a little bit more confidence. You know,
- 5:13Speaker 2: we're gonna need Garbo to catch to tomorrow. You know,
- 5:16Speaker 2: he's he's the guy with Connor out, you know. For
- 5:19Speaker 2: for the rest of the season. We're gonna need Matt
- 5:21Speaker 2: Garbowski to step up, and he did like a co
- 5:24Speaker 2: captain or a try captain today, got a sacrifice punt down,
- 5:27Speaker 2: had a nice RBI clean single up the middle, and
- 5:31Speaker 2: you know it, did a really nice job behind the
- 5:33Speaker 2: plate squeezing that last one on the last fall tip.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I know it doesn't take talent, but that a lot
- 5:37Speaker 2: of that's gonna squeak away, and he didn't let it tonight,
- 5:40Speaker 2: so he was really good. He's using a different glove too.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and creaton tomorrow. Obviously you played them three times
- 5:45Speaker 1: in Omaha. Probably can't remember it.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I remember it. Yeah, we didn't play well, you know we.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, season you were like two and four in the conference, right,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I mean after these.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Two we had a good opening night, we had we
- 5:58Speaker 2: scored early, they came back. We we and we carried
- 6:02Speaker 2: that kind of we held on on Friday night and
- 6:04Speaker 2: we were on our heels the rest of the weekend
- 6:06Speaker 2: and played very poorly and it didn't help the kid
- 6:08Speaker 2: and Suki went down the next morning or the next
- 6:10Speaker 2: day with his season ending injury. Kind of took the
- 6:14Speaker 2: wind out of our sales and just we really laid
- 6:16Speaker 2: an egg and omaha, I mean, and that's I mean.
- 6:19Speaker 2: They played very well. They deserve to win the ball games.
- 6:21Speaker 2: We just didn't play up to our potential. They're a
- 6:24Speaker 2: really good team. I think they have, you know, a
- 6:26Speaker 2: really good balance pitching, defense and offense. But you know,
- 6:31Speaker 2: the Huskies are hot now, so let's let's keep it going.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And sometimes you don't like that off day, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 2: because you're sitting around watching, watching, And we didn't use
- 6:41Speaker 2: much pitching today, so that's a good sign too. We
- 6:42Speaker 2: had a couple of guys up in the pen. But
- 6:45Speaker 2: you know it's gonna be all hands on deck tomorrow.
- 6:47Speaker 2: We're gonna pull this off.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not how you start season, it's how you
- 6:50Speaker 1: end them. That's always the fun part. And you guys
- 6:53Speaker 1: are on a roll. See if you can get it done,
- 6:55Speaker 1: you gotta sweep too.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we're keeping you here nextra day to home.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I love baseball, all right, coach. That's Jim Pender's congratulations.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yukon winsor by final of eleven to two.
