- Lucas: Hej och välkommen till Learn Swedish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 20 — can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? Twenty episodes. We've learned so much. Greetings, numbers, colors, days of the week... Luna: Yeah. And today I hear we're tackling something I've been wondering about — how to say 'my' in Swedish. Lucas: Exactly. Possessives. So, in Swedish, 'my' changes depending on the noun. Ready for the first one? Luna: Ready. Lucas: The word 'min' — for common gender nouns. Like 'en katt' — a cat. So 'my cat' is 'min katt'. Say it with me: min katt. Luna: Min katt. Lucas: Good. Now, what about 'min bil' — my car? Luna: Min bil. Lucas: Perfect. So 'min' is for en-words. Then we have 'mitt' — for neuter gender nouns. Like 'ett hus' — a house. So 'my house' is 'mitt hus'. Luna: Mitt hus. That one's a bit different. Lucas: It is. And 'ett äpple' — an apple. 'My apple' is 'mitt äpple'. Luna: Mitt äpple. Okay, I think I've got that. Lucas: And the last one is 'mina' — for plural nouns. Like 'böcker' — books. So 'my books' is 'mina böcker'. Luna: Mina böcker. Lucas: Exactly. And 'my cats' is 'mina katter'. Luna: Mina katter. So we have min, mitt, mina. Lucas: You got it. Let's practice a full sentence. 'Det är min katt.' — That is my cat. Luna: Det är min katt. Lucas: Good. Now 'Det är mitt hus.' — That is my house. Luna: Det är mitt hus. Lucas: And 'Det är mina böcker.' — Those are my books. Luna: Det är mina böcker. Oof, that one's a mouthful. Lucas: You did it. Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're showing me your things. You point to a cat and say... Luna: Det är min katt. Lucas: Aww, cute cat. And then you point to a house. Luna: Det är mitt hus. Lucas: Nice house. And then some books. Luna: Det är mina böcker. Lucas: Perfect. You just used all three. How do you feel? Luna: I feel like I can actually say 'my' now without guessing wrong. Lucas: That's the idea. Let's do a quick review. 'My' for en-words? Luna: Min. Lucas: For ett-words? Luna: Mitt. Lucas: For plurals? Luna: Mina. Lucas: You're a natural. Now, remember last episode we learned colors? Let's combine. 'My red car' — 'Min röda bil'. Luna: Min röda bil. Oh, that's cool. Lucas: And 'my yellow house' — 'Mitt gula hus'. Luna: Mitt gula hus. Lucas: And 'my black books' — 'Mina svarta böcker'. Luna: Mina svarta böcker. This is actually fun. Lucas: I'm glad. So, listener, repeat after us: min, mitt, mina. Min katt, mitt hus, mina böcker. Det är min katt. Det är mitt hus. Det är mina böcker. Luna: Great practice. I'm definitely going to use these when I talk about my stuff. Lucas: And that's what we love at Fexingo — using Swedish in real life. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Hej då! Luna: Hej då!
