- 0:00Speaker 1: There is things that go bump in the night. Welcome
- 0:03Speaker 1: to ghost Stories of the Unusual Paranormal podcast with your
- 0:08Speaker 1: host Joe the Ghost Guy.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Good morning, good afternoon, giving me wherever you are around
- 0:24Speaker 2: the country and around the world. This is ghost Stories
- 0:29Speaker 2: of the Unusual Paranormal Podcast. I am your host Joe
- 0:34Speaker 2: the Ghost Guy. Today I have a story from Nick Downs.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Who is a viewer of ours, and he had sent
- 0:48Speaker 3: me this.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Little story and I'm hoping to give my credit for it.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Family had spent many years to dealing with Na explained,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:05Speaker 3: There are has been nothing we could have done about them. Honestly,
- 1:13Speaker 3: there's nothing anyone could do about their paranormal activities that
- 1:19Speaker 3: happen in their lives.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Either it's nothing you must deal with, that.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Is, unless you performed blessings or other rich religious rituals
- 1:32Speaker 4: with your with your huntings blessings our home may have
- 1:39Speaker 4: seemed like a good idea, but we were not sure what.
- 1:44Speaker 2: To think of it at all. Who knows it could
- 1:50Speaker 2: have been a relative stopping by to say hello, or
- 1:56Speaker 2: to play a cracker joke like they did when they
- 1:59Speaker 2: were alive. Whatever the case movie have been, we decided
- 2:06Speaker 2: to get used to it and live in peace with
- 2:09Speaker 2: it or them, or just ignore it or them. I
- 2:15Speaker 2: kind of figured that if you respect it or them it,
- 2:21Speaker 2: they will respect you in return. So that's what I
- 2:26Speaker 2: thought until one dark and stormy night. As many stars is,
- 2:34Speaker 2: many stories start out with. It was a dark and
- 2:38Speaker 2: stormy night one night my family and I were watching
- 2:43Speaker 2: scary movies in my childhood home. Not that I paid
- 2:48Speaker 2: many attention to the movies where we watched that night
- 2:53Speaker 2: or anything, but there were something that could cop It
- 3:00Speaker 2: caught my attention in the corner of my eye, I know,
- 3:04Speaker 2: as someone walking down the hallway and then stopped in
- 3:11Speaker 2: the doorway to my bedroom. I turned to look, and
- 3:18Speaker 2: I found home was there. I was a little disturbed
- 3:22Speaker 2: at about it. I tried to explain it to my
- 3:27Speaker 2: mother from what I have seen, to reply that maybe
- 3:32Speaker 2: I've seen enough that I have seen enough bus scary movies.
- 3:37Speaker 4: For one night.
- 3:38Speaker 2: After all, I had watched frid At thirteen Grandma's and
- 3:44Speaker 2: both Poach Guts one and two that night. I just
- 3:49Speaker 2: knew that it could not have been my imagination. I
- 3:54Speaker 2: tried to pass what my mother had said. It was
- 3:58Speaker 2: nothing more than just my eyes. Any tricks on it.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I left the living room and slowly crept down the
- 4:05Speaker 2: hallway into the bed bathroom, and I turned on the
- 4:10Speaker 2: lights to brush my teeth. I stood on the stool,
- 4:16Speaker 2: and I was just a short kid, and turned on
- 4:20Speaker 2: the water faucet, and I plastered the toothpaste on my
- 4:25Speaker 2: Gi Joe toothbrush, and I heard the door behind me open.
- 4:31Speaker 2: The bathroom had two entrances. One was the door leaning
- 4:35Speaker 2: to the hallway, which I had come in from, and the.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Other was leaning from my parents' bedroom. The door leaned
- 4:57Speaker 1: to my parents' bedroom stayed open. I glared into the
- 5:02Speaker 1: mirror's reflection and saw a dark silhouette of a person
- 5:08Speaker 1: standing in the darkness. I was so terrified that I
- 5:14Speaker 1: threw my toothbrush into my parents' room where I had
- 5:19Speaker 1: seen the figure, and yelled for my mother and my father,
- 5:24Speaker 1: whom were in the living room, to come and take
- 5:28Speaker 1: a look at the uh their bedroom. I had explained
- 5:33Speaker 1: to them what I had seen, but sure enough, after
- 5:39Speaker 1: my father had turned on his bedroom light and searched
- 5:43Speaker 1: the room, nobody was there. I only had hope that
- 5:51Speaker 1: I would never have seen that again. I still remember
- 5:57Speaker 1: the outline of his or her eyes eyes staring back
- 6:02Speaker 1: at me in the mirror. For the longest time, I
- 6:07Speaker 1: would brush my teeth only once a day, and that
- 6:13Speaker 1: is only in the morning. I wonder whatever happened to
- 6:19Speaker 1: my cobra commander toothbrush. We never found it. I went
- 6:26Speaker 1: to school tired the next day. I couldn't sleep a
- 6:29Speaker 1: wink at all that that night before. Besides the roaring thunder,
- 6:37Speaker 1: the heavy pattering of the rain crashing against the house,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and the flashing of lightning, I had also heard other
- 6:47Speaker 1: strange noises coming from the hallway. I did not know
- 6:53Speaker 1: what it was. I was almost positive it was not
- 6:57Speaker 1: our dog's Gruffy wandering around with his rattling bags rattling
- 7:06Speaker 1: tags on his collar. Yeah, I had a dog named
- 7:12Speaker 1: Scruffy who was afraid of who was afraid of thunder?
- 7:17Speaker 1: But like I stated, I knew it wasn't him. Wimprind
- 7:24Speaker 1: The sound was like a distant, smuttering sound, like your
- 7:31Speaker 1: hands pressed in a press rubbed against damp glass. I
- 7:40Speaker 1: recall my older brother Gary had climbed down from the
- 7:45Speaker 1: top of our bunk bed and went into the hallway
- 7:49Speaker 1: and turned on the bathroom light. The sound stopped. Moments later.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I heard the toilet flush and saw the bathroom might
- 8:02Speaker 1: turn off. My brother climbed back into the top bunk.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Not long after that, he asked me, did you hear that?
- 8:15Speaker 1: Hear what? I tested? That scratching sound in the hallway,
- 8:21Speaker 1: he continued, I've been hearing it for that past half hour. Yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I heard it. I turned on the light and I
- 8:33Speaker 1: swear I had seen something turn in the corner and
- 8:38Speaker 1: went down the stairs at the end of the hallway.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I felt relieved that I was not the only one
- 8:48Speaker 1: who had seen the dark figure in the house. I
- 8:53Speaker 1: asked my brother if he had ever seen it before. Nope,
- 8:59Speaker 1: he replied. Other strange things have happened to other members
- 9:06Speaker 1: of my family and friends in the house. I I
- 9:10Speaker 1: grew up in a in a Mormon trail, or on
- 9:15Speaker 1: a Mormon trail northwest of Northwest Territories. The yellow house
- 9:22Speaker 1: in the middle of the block had grown somewhat popular
- 9:28Speaker 1: attention to our neighboring friends. Many neighbors thought it was
- 9:35Speaker 1: cool to believe it was harmed. We did too. Many
- 9:40Speaker 1: summer nights, a group of a group of mine and
- 9:43Speaker 1: my siblings friends from around the neighborhood would always play
- 9:48Speaker 1: hide and go seek. Our hiding areas were in the
- 9:53Speaker 1: front or backyards of our neighbors within the block. Enough
- 10:01Speaker 1: home base was always on our front porch, and often
- 10:08Speaker 1: a few kids were not bold to count for too
- 10:12Speaker 1: long when it was there turned to seek. In my
- 10:18Speaker 1: parents' bedroom, my mother had makeup mirror lamp that stood
- 10:23Speaker 1: on top of a dresser with about a dozen lights
- 10:27Speaker 1: circling its mirror. One night, after a shower, my mother
- 10:34Speaker 1: turned her mirror, turned on her mirror. All the lights
- 10:39Speaker 1: flickered on, and everything seemed to rio at first, but
- 10:44Speaker 1: shortly after the lights blinked and flickered rapidly in a
- 10:51Speaker 1: complete circle and back again, turning off one light after another,
- 10:59Speaker 1: although the mirror lights were designing to turn on or
- 11:04Speaker 1: off all at once. She had the light mirror for
- 11:10Speaker 1: a long while, but after that little mysterious happening she
- 11:16Speaker 1: got rid of it. The lamp seeing the vampsetting was
- 11:21Speaker 1: only to one fixture, and that was to stay on solid,
- 11:28Speaker 1: not dance around like a like a light on a
- 11:32Speaker 1: Christmas tree displaying. Another time, a friend of my father's
- 11:41Speaker 1: had come to the house to visit. He was an
- 11:46Speaker 1: old fellow, but there were some things my family could
- 11:51Speaker 1: tolerate about him. My father was playing or messing around
- 11:58Speaker 1: with his new bast your video recorder. Continuously he would
- 12:06Speaker 1: videotape something or videotape everything and anything in everything that
- 12:14Speaker 1: ever happened, even if they were things that you would
- 12:18Speaker 1: never want to remember. When it came to embarrassing moments,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I didn't remember the whole compensation, but I do recall
- 12:31Speaker 1: my father's friend who called, who was called Buddy, had
- 12:37Speaker 1: cracked some joke or statement about the ghost in our house.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Who the house is haunted, but he joked, you don't
- 12:48Speaker 1: want to get caught naked running around while the dead
- 12:53Speaker 1: or watching you. When all sudden we all heard a
- 12:59Speaker 1: loud ping, followed by buddies cry out. My dad had
- 13:09Speaker 1: a look of shocking his face. After my mother had
- 13:15Speaker 1: finished laughing, she asked what happened? I followed, couldn't catch
- 13:22Speaker 1: his breath and we and he was still laughing. He
- 13:27Speaker 1: stopped recording, pulled out the old VHS tape from the recorder,
- 13:34Speaker 1: popped it into the VCR, press rewind a bit, then
- 13:41Speaker 1: press play. For those who don't know what a VHS
- 13:46Speaker 1: tape or VCR player is, it's an eighties and nineties
- 13:51Speaker 1: thing similar to a DVD, but you actually have to
- 13:55Speaker 1: rewind a VHS tape in the VCR to start the
- 13:59Speaker 1: video over. Our family and I sat before the TV
- 14:04Speaker 1: and saw Buddy on the screen as he Recent Past
- 14:11Speaker 1: was playing. Recent Past was playing. He heard all through
- 14:17Speaker 1: the through the TV Buddy's joke about the house being haunted.
- 14:24Speaker 1: By our amazement, we all saw the candle holder, which
- 14:28Speaker 1: had been mounted to the wall on the stairs, had
- 14:33Speaker 1: pinged off the wall and landed on Buddy's head. We
- 14:39Speaker 1: laughed and we laughed so hard. From odd reason, the
- 14:44Speaker 1: ghost did not like his comment. It could have been
- 14:49Speaker 1: it could could have have been a coincidence. And this
- 14:54Speaker 1: is from nixt book that he wrote. And I want
- 15:02Speaker 1: to thank Nick for this wonderful story. And until next
- 15:14Speaker 1: time for Nick and his wonderful story, I am Joe
- 15:19Speaker 1: the ghost guy.
