- 0:14Hello and welcome to Arguing Ever After.
- 0:17I'm Luke and this is my awesome wife Amber.
- 0:20Hello. Together we are the Lord and
- 0:23Lady who lockhorns. The counting Countess of
- 0:26contention. The Duke and Duchess of
- 0:28Disagreement. And the king and queen of
- 0:30quarrels. We have been together since Gwen
- 0:33Stefani was just a girl, and we've been arguing for that long
- 0:36as well. Somehow we're still together and
- 0:38we like each other. In this entertainment only
- 0:41podcast, we will bicker about all things big and small and the
- 0:45audience gets the final say on who the winner is.
- 0:48We do not claim to be relationship experts by any
- 0:52means. We will debate many topics, some
- 0:54of which are submitted by our listeners, so if you have
- 0:57something you would like us to argue about, please send it to
- 1:00us at arguingeverafter@gmail.com.
- 1:03Perhaps this completely unscientific method of letting
- 1:06the masses decide who the winner is can settle your fight before
- 1:09you even have it. Mm hmm.
- 1:12And so here we are, episode dozen.
- 1:17Our very 12th episode. Which is fantastic.
- 1:20It's. Very exciting, that's.
- 1:22Three months if you counted in weeks.
- 1:23Yeah. And that is how long we have
- 1:25been reporting for folks. Well, technically a little bit
- 1:29longer. We had some bonus material that
- 1:30hasn't been released. I think that was in the middle
- 1:33of our other recordings. That could be.
- 1:35Maybe we bonused ourselves. We did, yes.
- 1:37There's a bonus for us, yes, So far only a bonus for us.
- 1:40Only for us one day. It's true because we actually
- 1:43enjoy doing this. One day we might share some of
- 1:47them with the audience. One day.
- 1:50Yes, I'm not going to give a spoiler because we don't know
- 1:53when that one day will be. It's certainly not episode 12.
- 1:56No, this is going to be a not bonus episode, it's a regular
- 1:59one. That's right.
- 2:00If we were doing this once a month, we'd be at a year.
- 2:03That's true. That's fun.
- 2:05That's kind of, yeah. But I I like doing it more often
- 2:08than that. That's true.
- 2:09I was a little scared when we started the podcast that arguing
- 2:12in front of a camera was going to make us argue like more
- 2:15heatedly, and yet here we are. No, I think it's actually been
- 2:19really good for that because honestly, a lot of times when we
- 2:22get into an argument where I know that there's more
- 2:25discussion we can have, it goes in the podcast.
- 2:28It does unless it's unless it's light and then we just.
- 2:31But yeah, yeah. It stopped a lot of fighting.
- 2:33So I don't know, maybe this is some reverse psychology for for
- 2:37us. But don't worry folks, we still
- 2:39argue about everything that's true all the time.
- 2:42That was one of the original theoretical names for the
- 2:45podcast. What if not the original?
- 2:48Luke and Luke and Amber argue. Oh, Oh yes, that was that was,
- 2:53but that sounded a little long. It did, and then this magical
- 2:56title came out of the magical land of magic.
- 2:59My head is the magical land. I mean, you didn't have to claim
- 3:03it, you could just let it be ethereal and all mysterious.
- 3:05Well. When you have a good idea, it
- 3:08seems really weird to waste it and not take credit for it.
- 3:12I would also have taken credit, so that makes sense.
- 3:15I'm sure. Well, you had to agree on it.
- 3:17We did. That was something we had to
- 3:19agree on. We had a bunch of ideas.
- 3:21Yep, Yep, Yep. And they were all pretty good
- 3:23and most of them came from you. Thank you.
- 3:26Speaking of good ideas that I didn't have and you didn't have
- 3:30this, we did have our very first live show.
- 3:36Heck yeah, we did. Wasn't our idea, Never would
- 3:38have came up with that. Not well, certainly not at
- 3:41wherever the heck we were. Episode 10 or 11:00-ish,
- 3:45something like that. Right when Quirky the band
- 3:47Quirky invited us, I was like, yeah, heck yeah, why not?
- 3:52Luke was like. Well, I was worried.
- 3:54I was worried more about them. Like I was like in a little bit
- 3:58of shock, like, well, why would you want us to do this more?
- 4:02And then two, Are you sure you want the the people that just
- 4:08talk to each other to open for a band that plays music?
- 4:11And I actually like having now done it.
- 4:13Think it makes like wonderful sense because if you have people
- 4:17talking and you're in a place where people went to see music,
- 4:21they're going to be so excited when they get the real thing.
- 4:23Oh, that's. True.
- 4:25Yeah, that was. They're like, thank God, those
- 4:27talking podcasts. They're gone.
- 4:29Shut up. Finally.
- 4:31It was a lot of fun and we had some great fans slash family
- 4:37slash friends, yeah, which it was really exciting to have
- 4:41those people there cheering us on, giving us encouragement and
- 4:45love. One friend, One friend booed me,
- 4:47which was. Yeah, you deserved it though.
- 4:49You deserved. It I mean, I don't know about
- 4:51deserved it I. Didn't get in boos.
- 4:53That's true. I got lots of laughs.
- 4:56Actually, you got a lot of laughs too.
- 4:57I'm sort of proud of you for that.
- 4:58Oh, what? Could you thinking I could be
- 5:00funny sometimes just in public I guess.
- 5:03I think it depends. But we did record that one and
- 5:08we've had people ask us since if we're going to share it, we
- 5:11might, we might. That's going to take a lot more
- 5:14technical ability than. Or we could just release the
- 5:16terrible. I don't want to.
- 5:18Do that. I want it to be like it was.
- 5:20We've done what we can though, like without an actual producer
- 5:23and real audio editing tools, which we clearly don't have.
- 5:26If you're listening to us, you know what we're talking about.
- 5:29We do our best with what we have for the limited slash free
- 5:34budget and and so far, I mean so good.
- 5:38You know, I think we sound like a Midwestern podcast couple
- 5:41that's in, you know, the the now double digits, but low double
- 5:46digits. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:48Well, I, I don't, I think it was such a cool experience for us.
- 5:53I, I want to give it the honor that it is due and for sure and
- 5:59make sure that we're giving, giving people something that's
- 6:03easy to listen to and so they can hear how excited the crowd
- 6:07was 'cause they were totally into.
- 6:10It you can almost only hear the crowd in parts of the recording.
- 6:13Which is why it's release it, but I really really want to
- 6:17because I looked great. You did say like your most
- 6:22favorite picture of yourself. Ever.
- 6:25Which is shocking cause like you've had a lot of pictures.
- 6:29Taken and most of them are terrible.
- 6:31I don't know how. And that's not the
- 6:32photographer's fault. It is the subject.
- 6:35I don't know. It took 27 years to get the
- 6:36perfect picture, but it did. I mean, it helped that my hair
- 6:40was just doing what it needed to.
- 6:42It was. It was.
- 6:44The hair was there. Perfect, yes, yes.
- 6:47And the lights were really good. I don't know, I it just, it was
- 6:52perfect for all of that, so. Sounds like we need to do more
- 6:54live shows. Well, I'd be more than open to
- 6:57it. OK, if you're out there
- 6:59listening and you got a good venue and we can get some, some
- 7:04fun going, yeah, and get time maybe, maybe more people, you
- 7:08know. Yeah, I would be.
- 7:10Fill it Stadium, even. Oh, that was too far.
- 7:13I went stadium. I'm not ready for that.
- 7:15I lied. I mean, wouldn't that be crazy
- 7:17one day though? It's hard to believe, but also
- 7:19it was hard to believe that anyone would want us to be in a
- 7:22live show at at whatever. I think we were only 5 or 6
- 7:25episodes in when we were asked. I don't know but.
- 7:29It wasn't a lot. No, no.
- 7:31But I did learn and I think you did too, that and I'm sure our
- 7:36audience already figured this out, that we don't really need
- 7:39the editing or scripting or anything like that.
- 7:42We just need the same thing for a live show that we need for any
- 7:45show. And that is what are we fighting
- 7:47about. Yeah, for sure.
- 7:49In life, we don't always. Talk back and give or take 45
- 7:53minutes. And by give or take, I mean 30
- 7:55minutes to an hour. It's like we're good to go.
- 7:58We could drop a ball and we're gonna kick it.
- 8:00Let's let's do it. Yeah.
- 8:02And what are we talking about this week?
- 8:04That's a really great. I think you were doing that for
- 8:07a perfect segue it. Was team segue.
- 8:10It was team segue. Nice job.
- 8:14This week we're gonna be talking about being young.
- 8:19Oh boy. And before we get too far into
- 8:21that, I just have to say welcome to our elusive listener.
- 8:27The Youngs, yes. That's right, finally caught
- 8:31one. Watch them on the side. 27 We
- 8:35love you and I'm sure you haven't heard this today.
- 8:38We are proud of you. Yes, you're doing a great job
- 8:41with all that you have. And you know what?
- 8:46Bring more friends. Yeah, tell your friends Yeah,
- 8:49after you unsubscribe for having been called out.
- 8:51No, you were called out for good.
- 8:52Things then just tell your friends to show up so now we've
- 8:55covered all the age group demographics that exist yeah
- 8:59from zero to. Unknown no longer.
- 9:03Unknown. No.
- 9:03Longer with us. It's from, yeah, from, from all
- 9:06of it. So we got that covered.
- 9:08Yeah. And we're still international
- 9:11and national. Yes, yes.
- 9:15So. But when I was thinking about
- 9:17young, though really quickly there, I had to give that shout.
- 9:19Out. Oh, for sure.
- 9:21We, I know there have been people who've been just waiting
- 9:23for us, you know, thinking about it, whatever that word is,
- 9:27manifesting it for us, sharing it with their younger friends.
- 9:31I don't think anyone cared that much actually.
- 9:33I cared a lot. I cared a lot.
- 9:37So that one listener who you yes, thank you, thank you, thank
- 9:41you. But we were gonna talk about
- 9:44being even younger than 23 to 27, although we did kind of some
- 9:48dumb things that from 23 to. 27 I mean, I think the young spirit
- 9:53of adventure lives on through your whole life.
- 9:56Yes. But yes, certainly when you're
- 9:59actually in the young and adventurous time frame of your
- 10:02life, you do things that are more spontaneous, I think, and
- 10:07potentially more risk averse than you do when you age a
- 10:12little bit. Not that I'm doing altogether
- 10:14smart and safe things in my life today, but you don't.
- 10:18But I think I did less less of that when I was younger.
- 10:22But like when I was younger to the concept of, well, stranger
- 10:28kids, you know, like there wasn't a stranger kid, right?
- 10:31I mean, every kid you knew was, well, you.
- 10:34I mean, every kid you saw, you knew one way or another.
- 10:37It seemed like there was that. Or you knew someone that knew
- 10:39them because they came with like it was, you know, a cousin or
- 10:42somebody at whatever. Right, right.
- 10:44And like at school, you went on that you knew everybody unless
- 10:47you were the brand new kid, but then it took two minutes.
- 10:50You know, you're like, oh cool, we'd be my best friend.
- 10:52Yeah, can I share your sandwich? We're best friends.
- 10:54Yeah, yeah. And then immediately, cool,
- 10:56let's go play a game. Yeah.
- 10:57You know, And Even so, in my neighborhood growing up, we had
- 11:01several kids that was very fortunate to be raised in a, a
- 11:04neighborhood with a lot of kids my age.
- 11:07And you just go outside and you'd look and there'd be a kid
- 11:10outside and you're like, great, what are we playing?
- 11:12You know, And immediately you'd start playing something and then
- 11:16other kids would come out and they'd play something too.
- 11:18And I remember the thought of, you know, where you'd be voting,
- 11:23Like, what are you gonna play? You know, someone would want to
- 11:26play one game and another, and eventually you'd all settle on
- 11:29something. And there were so many great
- 11:32games to play. I just wonder why we don't or
- 11:37can't or won't do that as adults.
- 11:39Think about that for a second. Like, couldn't you just go
- 11:42outside in your street with like a toy, like a can or a ball and
- 11:52you're like in your 30s and then the neighbors come out and they
- 11:56join you? Yeah, like what you doing?
- 11:58Pick up game basketball. No hoop, just in the street I'm
- 12:02in. Let's do it.
- 12:03Yeah, that'd be pretty rad. Well, OK, so we did kind of do
- 12:11that, but not quite at the same level.
- 12:12When we were in our, we were talking about 20 to 20.
- 12:16So I don't remember what age groups were we would do such a
- 12:19thing. We would say, hey everybody,
- 12:22let's go meet at a park. That's true.
- 12:25Let's go play a game. We have often been coordinators,
- 12:27yeah, or coordinator adjacent. I think maybe we are party
- 12:32planners, yeah, it's just that. Little bit we just want to get
- 12:35together and have fun. But we just find them different.
- 12:38And we want other people to get together and have fun.
- 12:40We just find them differently. I mean, when I was a kid, I
- 12:44would certainly try to find something that everybody wanted
- 12:47to do, right? Like that was another thing.
- 12:49I mean, I didn't. I would never suggest something
- 12:51I didn't want to play though. I just assumed everyone wanted
- 12:54to play games all the time. It did.
- 12:57Maybe it seemed that way. I think they did.
- 13:00I mean, if there wasn't a game to be played, we would make one
- 13:02up, right? For sure.
- 13:04There was. Also in my neighborhood we had
- 13:06things called Kid Wars. That sounds dangerous.
- 13:10It was, I mean. Was it like a rock fight?
- 13:12Well, I don't. There probably were rocks, but
- 13:16crab apples? I remember that being something
- 13:18people would chuckle each. Other.
- 13:20Yeah. We've had a crab apple tree, me
- 13:22and my brothers and we would often pelt each other.
- 13:25Yeah, I don't know why. That's the thing.
- 13:26You have a crab apple tree, you're gonna get a crab.
- 13:28They don't taste good, so you might as well pelt somebody with
- 13:31it. They can if you have the right
- 13:32cook. My grandmother made the best.
- 13:35Yeah, crab apple. You put it into a tart and use a
- 13:38bajillion pounds of sugar and yeah, but I'm just saying,
- 13:41eating one off the tree is not a delightful experience.
- 13:44I've done it. I was a kid back in sure back in
- 13:48the 2000 Wow 2. 1000 the true risk of eating fruit off the
- 13:55tree when you were a kid wasn't about, you know, getting sick.
- 13:59It was the bees. For me, it was like there was if
- 14:03it was the wrong time of the year and they already started to
- 14:06fall down, then the bees would be heavy bad news.
- 14:10I got attacked by bees a lot as a kid.
- 14:11Actually, really, it's probably because I wasn't the smarter.
- 14:14I mean, I would be the I was the bad guy a lot of times.
- 14:19Yeah. Sorry for all you bee lovers out
- 14:21there. I'm not like that anymore.
- 14:22What? Do you mean you are the bad guy?
- 14:24Sometimes I would provoke the bees, but I'd like to think in
- 14:28my defense, they weren't like honey bees.
- 14:31They were like ground Wasps. And the ones with the make the
- 14:37what's the one in the tree with? Yeah, but those ones you knew to
- 14:41just run like you hit the hit the nest with a rock.
- 14:45I mean, come on, you didn't throw a rock at a Hornet.
- 14:46I really didn't. I did not want to get stung by
- 14:49anything. Why did that?
- 14:50I mean, I had some friends in the neighborhood growing up and
- 14:53we would just go walk around and then we would find a bee nest.
- 14:58I don't want to say hive because that makes me think of honey
- 15:00bees, but like a bee nest. I remember one in I got a lot of
- 15:04bee stings. There was one in like a what's
- 15:07the kind of plant that looks and kind of smells like a pine tree,
- 15:10but it's like it grows at ground level.
- 15:12It's like a Bush. I don't know.
- 15:16Maybe it's like a short Arbor vitae.
- 15:18It sure could be, could be. Anyway, we were walking up the
- 15:21street and we saw like, you know, more than a normal number
- 15:24of free roaming stingy creatures.
- 15:28And then we determined that that was in fact a place where they
- 15:30were making their home and they were bad news.
- 15:33And so we were going to liberate the the homeowner who had this
- 15:38this bee situation happening. So we got some, you know,
- 15:42weapons that were close at hand, like sticks and rocks.
- 15:45Yeah. And we we let the bees know that
- 15:48they shouldn't live there. And then the bees let us know
- 15:50that that was where they lived. You know, hearing about these.
- 15:53These things you just don't even.
- 15:57Well, I mean like, here's the thing.
- 15:59This tells me why games were invented.
- 16:02Because left to our own devices, without something structured in
- 16:06place, we do things like Kid Wars and apparently Chase
- 16:10Hornets like this is truly. Yellow Jackets.
- 16:13Hornets. This is true stupidity.
- 16:15So to overcome that amount of stupidity, you must have had to
- 16:21have come up with something pretty great, right?
- 16:25And, and I think you need to instill that young, right?
- 16:28We are in the great state of duck, duck, Gray duck.
- 16:33It's not goose people. It's not.
- 16:35It never was. All the other 49 states are
- 16:39wrong. Yeah, They started us young,
- 16:41really young in some kind of organized play that there was
- 16:45very little rules, right, You know, like that was one another
- 16:49one I really liked a lot. I assumed to backtrack to Gray
- 16:53Duck for a second. I'm super.
- 16:55Proud of Minnesota for owning it on all levels.
- 16:58Like now you see, like Gray Duck Realty, Gray Duck Brewing
- 17:03Company, like everyone's taking it.
- 17:05They're like, you know what? This is who we are.
- 17:07We're just getting it. You know what's really
- 17:09interesting? What I never necessarily.
- 17:11I didn't necessarily put that together with the game.
- 17:14Oh. I didn't.
- 17:15Well, that's for sure. What it?
- 17:16Is makes sense, makes sense. I mean, but what is a Gray duck?
- 17:19Is that what? What kind of what breed of duck
- 17:22is a Gray duck? I mean.
- 17:24Is that a Mallard, a female Mallard or something?
- 17:27No or. Brown, right?
- 17:29I don't know. It's not.
- 17:32A goose. Geese aren't Gray.
- 17:35Really. Isn't like Canadian?
- 17:36Brownish. I mean, I guess they got a
- 17:38little Gray. OK, we're not going anyway.
- 17:39No, no, no, it is Gray Duck. That's what's up.
- 17:42Gray Duck. So anyhow.
- 17:46But that was like a good game when you were younger to be
- 17:48outside, run around, here's what you do, and you could play that
- 17:52forever until your parents called you home.
- 17:54But the one I liked at that age the best was Red Rover.
- 17:58OK. Where you'd have, you know, red
- 18:00Rover, red Rover, send whoever right over right.
- 18:03And you'd have all these kids on one side or both sides.
- 18:06And the kid would go running and get clothes lined by two arms
- 18:09from two kids who were just locked hard together.
- 18:13Or if you were really good or bigger than the kids that you
- 18:17chose, you'd breakthrough. Like.
- 18:20And that feeling of winning, of breaking through, I don't know
- 18:24if I have, but I'm sure it was pretty amazing 'cause I, I'm.
- 18:27Sure you did at some point. I really think I always played
- 18:31with older kids like my sisters and cousins and stuff, and I
- 18:34think I got clothes lined a lot. I will never forget that feeling
- 18:39of having the arm across the neck here, you know, several
- 18:43times, several times and then falling to the ground.
- 18:46But you know, I was like made of rubber.
- 18:48It didn't didn't really hurt, but I remember those feelings.
- 18:51I think today it would hurt a lot more and I'm gonna guess I
- 18:55would be running slower. You might be running a little
- 19:00slower, yeah, I'm not sure. That would be my guess.
- 19:03I mean, I always felt like you were running like the wind just
- 19:05so fast when you're. I kinda wanna try it out now and
- 19:08just see. Yeah, well, you could ask a
- 19:10bunch of people to do it. Next time we're with our
- 19:12friends, let's just get a bunch of people, yeah.
- 19:13And just. Start shouting Red Rover, Red
- 19:16Rover. Send cookie right over.
- 19:18I'm in. Oh, you will break my arm.
- 19:20I can't do that with my shoulder.
- 19:21Oh. Oh.
- 19:23Oh no, I didn't know the last time I played.
- 19:27That would be the last time I played.
- 19:28Well, maybe not forever though. Sometimes you just throw caution
- 19:32to the wind and take a chance. That's true.
- 19:34I mean, I've had a bunch of surgeries and I'm not always the
- 19:36smartest guy with my body. Did you know like the last time
- 19:40you were playing? Like, I think about that.
- 19:42There's, I just never realized that would be the last time I
- 19:44would do something like that. And I haven't yet done it in how
- 19:47many years? 20 years, right, Of course.
- 19:49Not but like it's part of that's because you naturally grow out
- 19:52of some of that behavior. Sure, some of it, some of it
- 19:57indeed. Now, that being said, we have
- 20:00participated as full grown adults in many wonderful games.
- 20:05One of my all time favorites being capture the flag, which oh
- 20:12so good. And boy, do we have a story or
- 20:14two about that. But we invited a bunch of our
- 20:18friends who invited some of their friends, and we were in a
- 20:20local park and had, I don't know, it had to have been 30
- 20:25people at least. Maybe. 40 people because like,
- 20:28you know, we invited 15 people and then like they're like when
- 20:33we invite some people and then all of a sudden there was
- 20:35another 1520 people. We were like, oh, this is we got
- 20:40a serious game going. And this was after dark.
- 20:43Oh yeah. Well.
- 20:45Which is technically we didn't know it was illegal, but we
- 20:48found out. Remember that one cop?
- 20:50I think we, but you know, I mean like we weren't like getting
- 20:54drunk or doing anything like that in the we were just having
- 20:58a fun night time game of capture the flag in the middle of a City
- 21:01Park. And there were lots of us
- 21:04though, and we didn't get in trouble at that time.
- 21:07No, I don't think we did. Was that the time that the kid?
- 21:11But we did learn maybe you shouldn't play capture the flag
- 21:14in the dark in a park, because in the dark in a park.
- 21:19You're like Doctor Seuss. I know.
- 21:20I'm trying to come up with one more and I'm not there in.
- 21:22The dark in the park. You heard a lark.
- 21:25I That's lame. Oh, did a dog bark?
- 21:29Wow. Anyhow, there are holes that you
- 21:33can't see that you could probably see in the day.
- 21:37Oh yeah, like little divots in the ground.
- 21:39Divots and dips and but there was lots of tripping, but we
- 21:43were I was young enough where I could easily do that jump back
- 21:47up, you know, not hurt any of my already painful body parts.
- 21:52But yeah, we did have, we did have someone who.
- 21:55There's a fine young man who had joined the the fun.
- 21:58Yes. Who we did not know at the time,
- 22:01had had previous breaks in his forearm bones and he was getting
- 22:11after it. And there was a there was an
- 22:14incident in which he tumbled to the ground going way too fast.
- 22:18I don't know if he had the flag or what, but he came up with a
- 22:23crooked arm that was like a it was like it was supposed to be
- 22:26straight. And it took a couple of turns
- 22:28and we were like, Oh no. And then the kids reaction was
- 22:33not oh, this hurts. It wasn't like, what are we
- 22:37going to do now? He said my dad's going to kill
- 22:40me. Yeah, that was it.
- 22:44Because apparently he'd been warned to like where is cast or
- 22:48something. No, I don't.
- 22:49Know or not play aggressive games or something.
- 22:53Right, right. Well, and that was a definitely
- 22:55a kid answer. I mean, we were adults at the
- 22:57time, but like. He was probably.
- 23:00That was like 17 kid answer. Like my dad's going to kill me.
- 23:03Like when I was a kid, that would have been my answer to
- 23:06like, Oh my God, I got hurt, my mom's gonna kill me.
- 23:08Yeah, 'cause you were always supposed to know better than to
- 23:11injure yourself. I don't.
- 23:12Really. And shout out to my mom.
- 23:14That would not have ever been her reaction.
- 23:16She would have been concerned about our health and well-being
- 23:20and just took us in, never would have been in trouble for what we
- 23:23were doing. Well, OK, so chances are, I
- 23:26mean, yes, I'm not going to say my mom and dad wouldn't have
- 23:29been concerned, but chances are when whatever happened happened,
- 23:33we were doing something we weren't supposed to do.
- 23:36So it would be a are you alive? Great.
- 23:39What did you? What were you doing that was?
- 23:41Wrong. Oh, right.
- 23:42No, I think what I'm saying is in the case of my mother, she
- 23:46probably didn't care what wrong we were doing because if we were
- 23:51doing something outside fun and creative, she would fully
- 23:54endorse all of the stupidity most of the time.
- 23:57Wow. Well, that's that's who she is.
- 23:59See, maybe your mom, you know everything you did.
- 24:02Well, that's probably true. As I've gotten older, I've
- 24:05shared with her many of the totally insane stories that I
- 24:10did that I did participate in and or start.
- 24:15Right, right. Well, so anyhow, yeah, that was
- 24:18quite a game that we were able to play as adults, but it was a
- 24:21big one when we were kids, you know, another game or two that
- 24:26were huge and still, you know, like, still epic, Right Tag.
- 24:31Oh, for sure. The game of tag.
- 24:33I think as an adult it would be. Probably like the one
- 24:37transcending all time, I wonder. How?
- 24:40Long that game has been like let's play tag.
- 24:45I feel like that might go as far back as like the caveman era,
- 24:51like when who don't maybe even I I'd I'd like to watch a little
- 24:56Discovery Channel special and find out if like little troops
- 24:59and chimps, monkeys and gorillas.
- 25:01Maybe they. Oh, do they?
- 25:02Run around and just whack and they tag them and then they
- 25:06probably do. They play like I've seen dogs
- 25:08play chase, you know, and they go back and forth, you know, Who
- 25:11knows? Maybe that's the ultimate game
- 25:13of all species. Yeah, well, why not?
- 25:16I mean, it's I'm I'm sure they're.
- 25:18Oh for sure. Think of cat videos on the
- 25:20Internet. The cat sneaks up on the other
- 25:22cat, gives it a, gives it a. What happened?
- 25:25Takes off. Yeah, it's, it is a classic, you
- 25:29know, the new one nowadays and by new, I don't know, it's
- 25:32probably like 15 years old is Mafia.
- 25:37Oh, this is the one our child plays and had to explain to us
- 25:41'cause we thoughts that she was talking about something else.
- 25:44Well, yeah, And it's a game where you have a couple people
- 25:48who are, you know, like the probably it.
- 25:51I don't know. They're the mafia.
- 25:52They're the people who are gonna kill the other people.
- 25:55And you have the hitman or. Yeah, yeah, probably that.
- 25:59And there is a nurse and there is a sheriff.
- 26:03So everybody closes their eyes. There's a nurse and a sheriff,
- 26:06OK. I mean, apparently this is the
- 26:07town they live in. Everybody closes their eyes and
- 26:11whoever there's a storyteller too.
- 26:13And whoever the storyteller, I don't know, she was explaining
- 26:16to me, whoever the storyteller is will say, OK, mafia, or
- 26:20they'll tap people and they'll be like, OK, open your eyes,
- 26:23you're the mafia, right? And so then those people close
- 26:25their eyes. Everybody closes their eyes
- 26:27again, and then they tap one person and they're like, you're
- 26:29the nurse. And then the nurse picks one
- 26:32person to save. Oh, so it's blind so nobody
- 26:35knows? Nobody knows who they are.
- 26:36I think the mafia know who they all are.
- 26:38But right, right, right. OK, but it's like eyes closed.
- 26:42And yeah, yeah, I wonder if the sheriff isn't the person who's
- 26:46picking all of these folks. That might make sense.
- 26:49I don't remember but then the mafia go to kill the people and
- 26:51if the nurse picked the person to save and it was a mafia.
- 26:54Do they have to like choose a method of death?
- 26:57There's yeah, they were. She was talking about that I
- 26:59didn't fully understand. Does it have to like pass muster
- 27:02of the rest of the mafia? It does.
- 27:04Oh, no, no. And it didn't sound like like it
- 27:06had to be a real cause of death, you know?
- 27:09Do they? Oh, another game for when we
- 27:11were kids? Does anyone die of dysentery?
- 27:15Oh no. Oregon Trail.
- 27:19Yeah, yeah. No, I don't.
- 27:20I mean, they could, I feel I, I didn't fully get it, but it
- 27:23sounded like fun. I would have loved it when I was
- 27:25a kid for sure. I mean, who doesn't like a nice
- 27:28game where you get to off your friends with creativity?
- 27:31Right and like the the surprise it right, like you don't know
- 27:34who the person is and all of that sounds fun, secretive, you
- 27:38know I don't. Know that's another, you know,
- 27:40another secret kind of secretive 1 sardines.
- 27:44That's. Yes, what you call sardines in a
- 27:46can I? Do call sardines in a can.
- 27:48We have a sardine story involving bees.
- 27:50Look at that, how it all ties together.
- 27:52There you go Were. You there for that?
- 27:54I was of course again another late night park night.
- 27:57I didn't get stung. I did.
- 28:00I know, I know, you did, and so did another side. 1st I don't
- 28:03think I was the first to hide. No, you were the second you and
- 28:06the other. I was the 1st.
- 28:07To find the the hider, yes, in the little Bush, which was at
- 28:13that time was fine. And then I think we got the
- 28:17third person in. So let's explain sardines.
- 28:19In can before sorry, sorry, going and why do you keep saying
- 28:23in a can? I mean, you gotta be all
- 28:24official. So for anyone who hasn't played
- 28:26sardines in a can, it's like reverse hide and go seek.
- 28:28It's pretty great one. Person who hides and then
- 28:31everyone is quietly trying to find the person hide with them.
- 28:34Like secret find. Like you don't want people to
- 28:37know that you found the person and then you team hide and then
- 28:41the last person there clearly is the loser.
- 28:44Yeah, they lost. But they pick, they then are the
- 28:46next person to like, go hide. Yeah, the first time.
- 28:49Somewhere. Yeah, yeah, a lot of fun.
- 28:52Epic version, not the bee stinging one, because what
- 28:55happened was short. Short story Long or Long story
- 28:57short, the bees came and we got stung and we were out of there.
- 29:01Took off. Only a couple of you did.
- 29:02I was with you hiding and I did not get stung.
- 29:04It wasn't great. But you were quiet.
- 29:06I thought that was pretty crazy. Well, you can't give away the
- 29:09secret. That's important.
- 29:10Yeah, you stuck true to the game.
- 29:13One of the reasons I love that game is for the nostalgia it
- 29:16brings. From when I was a kid, we had a
- 29:19couple of great role models who were great best friends with my
- 29:23mom who we would meet in in the night time and go and go join
- 29:33the fun in a cemetery. I kind of feel weird saying it
- 29:36in front of the camera. It's illegal.
- 29:37It's super illegal and probably not the smartest thing
- 29:41especially. Disrespectful.
- 29:42Especially, well, that and especially if you believe in
- 29:45ghosts. But the theory is, I mean the
- 29:48dead. The dead folks probably don't
- 29:50care. I'm just.
- 29:51Saying I wouldn't do it. To the living, potentially, but
- 29:54if you're dead you just don't care.
- 29:56I mean, maybe. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it
- 29:58and I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy.
- 30:00Like if I was buried underground, to have people out
- 30:04there doing that, I would think that was great.
- 30:05Well, we did find a fun Halloween decoration that had a
- 30:08little from that, from our episode about death.
- 30:12The little ring the bell if you're buried alive.
- 30:14That was cute. Anyway, so the reason that
- 30:17particular Sardines event was memorable for me was the
- 30:22person's hiding place was on top of a large, not headstone 'cause
- 30:28it was like, you know, I don't know, maybe 3 by 4 feet on the
- 30:34top of a pedestal. So it was a big, big gravestone.
- 30:40Yeah. And the person who was the first
- 30:44hider posed on top of it like a statue.
- 30:48And it took forever for anyone to find out that there was
- 30:54somebody up there. And then even like when there
- 30:57was two people, it still took forever.
- 30:59Like I think this game took three hours because once there
- 31:02was enough people and it took me forever because I was young.
- 31:06I was probably 10 or something. Also shout out to my mom for
- 31:09just letting a kid at 10 run around a graveyard.
- 31:12I think that's pretty live anyway.
- 31:15So like once there was a crowd of people on the gravestone,
- 31:19then it became easy and hilarious and people were trying
- 31:21to climb up there and we didn't all fit, but it was a super
- 31:24funny game. That's not something I would
- 31:26admit in public. Well, I just admitted it to
- 31:28everybody. Yeah, yeah, it was a great time.
- 31:31Well, OK. Thankfully, I wasn't an adult at
- 31:35that time making adult decisions.
- 31:36So, Luke, let me ask you a question.
- 31:38Oh goodness, and now folks, the moment you've all been waiting
- 31:42for and that I've been surprised by in this corner claiming to
- 31:46weigh in at 135 lbs, we have the ever lovely and sometimes hair
- 31:52rockinist version of herself, Amber.
- 31:56And in this corner we have Luke and you can't see it and one day
- 32:01we'll talk about it. But he is sporting some new
- 32:03tattoos. Oh, that's true, I am.
- 32:07And we have some tallies here on winning.
- 32:10This is depressing. I think you.
- 32:13Mean tallies on losing. Well, OK, so I mean you have
- 32:16one. I have.
- 32:17Three last five, yeah, we have a tie on one and we have another
- 32:24one that is still out there. Still out there?
- 32:27I got a chance. Well.
- 32:28Actually 2 that are out there. So get out there and vote.
- 32:32You should vote for me if you. Don't vote for me with me, but.
- 32:35If you agree with, listen. Right.
- 32:37She plays dirty pool. She researches people.
- 32:40That's not that's not fair options he has.
- 32:42I told her today. Not.
- 32:44To I didn't have time to research.
- 32:45I did not research. I did not need to well.
- 32:48So here we go. So let.
- 32:49Me ask you a question. Yes, please.
- 32:52What was your favorite game to play as a kid?
- 32:56And so here we go. The deliberation process of
- 33:01what's the best childhood game is like agonizing because we
- 33:06already mentioned some pretty strong contenders and some of
- 33:10those at one point or another were in the top for me and I
- 33:16it's, I mean, there's so many, it's hard to pick.
- 33:19We did. I will say just for clarity, for
- 33:21the sake of the listener, we stayed away from sports because,
- 33:26well, like. Organized.
- 33:28Sports, Yeah, that's what I mean, like organized, like not,
- 33:30not, you know, game sports, but like basketball, baseball, you
- 33:35know, soccer, stuff like that. And so for me, trying to pick a
- 33:41favorite was super difficult. I already talked about
- 33:44nostalgia. I have quite a few capture the
- 33:46flag stories as well, one somehow involving a watermelon.
- 33:50I think we decided that the flag was a watermelon at some point.
- 33:55OK. And so carrying a watermelon as
- 33:57you ran through the woods was, you know, was pretty tough.
- 34:01Like, you don't want to drop that because then you killed the
- 34:04flag. That added a layer of of mystery
- 34:07to the game. I digress.
- 34:12That was not my choice. So for me, the choice today was
- 34:18partially about what was my favorite, but was also about
- 34:22what might be most people's favorite because the listener
- 34:28ought to have a little fun too. And I just wasn't sure if some
- 34:32of these games that I played as a kid were commonly played by
- 34:35all. So for me, I chose the classic
- 34:41cops and robbers, which might be called something else now.
- 34:46And I love that game because it was a mixture of two all time
- 34:53classics. That will be man.
- 34:56I mean, if you would have had this be the contenders, hide and
- 34:59go seek and tag, that would have been that would have been tough.
- 35:03That would have been tough. But you mix those two games
- 35:08together and you have cops and robbers.
- 35:12You do. Which is pretty great.
- 35:15So for if anyone, I mean, I'd be shocked if there are people
- 35:18listening to this who don't know the game, but I'll just briefly
- 35:21a brief summation for the new age group of 23 to 27, they have
- 35:25to know this for the Youngs. They all know this.
- 35:28They they all know, but. You can explain.
- 35:30Has our kid ever played it? I don't know but.
- 35:33You. I don't know if she knows anyway
- 35:36that'd. Be very sad if.
- 35:37She so good guys, bad guys, you could pick whatever name you
- 35:39want and the the bad guys all go hide.
- 35:44And traditionally, at least with me growing up, this was you had
- 35:48to set boundaries, but it was anywhere in the neighborhood you
- 35:51live. Yeah, anywhere on the block.
- 35:52And it didn't matter. You could have been in.
- 35:54I often was in somebody else's yard.
- 35:56Yeah. Or tree.
- 35:57Yeah, or whatever. If the door was open, it counted
- 36:00like a garage. You couldn't go in someone's
- 36:03house that was off limits. So inside house was off limits
- 36:06and outside of the boundaries was off limits.
- 36:09And that was it. So we did some wild stuff back
- 36:13in the day, like we would hide on top of roofs.
- 36:16We, we would hide in trees, under bushes, I mean, all kinds
- 36:23of stuff. And the radius typically was big
- 36:26enough that it could, it could take a while.
- 36:29And as well it should if you're trying to entertain children
- 36:34for, you know, I don't know, let's say it's in the summer
- 36:37'cause that's when I remember playing most of these games for
- 36:40like hours because you needed to figure out how to fill a full 2
- 36:451/2, three months. How long in summer?
- 36:462 1/2 months. Not long enough, not long
- 36:49enough, but try to fill that up. And, you know, back when we were
- 36:53growing up, I mean, I don't know if it was just us and our
- 36:56economic surroundings, but nobody was in like, like, like
- 37:01daycare or like nobody was rare. Nobody was in like a program.
- 37:06There's a lot of people that play like sports in the summer,
- 37:09but not like like it wasn't as common as it seems like it is
- 37:12now. It's like we were all latch
- 37:14kickers. Yes.
- 37:16So to entertain somebody, you got to have a game to last a
- 37:18while. So our boundaries in my
- 37:20neighborhood would be substantial.
- 37:23I mean, it'd be like, I can't even, I, I don't know, 12 blocks
- 37:29long. I feel like I remember it
- 37:30sometimes. Oh.
- 37:31Wow. Oh yeah, like.
- 37:33Caps and robbers. Sure, all the all the way down
- 37:36to the park, all the way to the train tracks.
- 37:39That's. Weird.
- 37:40Well, I don't know what kind of you had what A2 block radius or
- 37:43something. One block?
- 37:44One block. Yes.
- 37:46Oh my goodness. There's like 30 houses, 30 yards
- 37:50to hide in. Well, we anyway.
- 37:52So we did. We did some wild, wild hiding.
- 37:57There was a lot of tree action, a lot of bushes and it would
- 38:01take a while and then. Like a month?
- 38:03No, that's a long time. I mean, you play the same game
- 38:07with the same people in the same neighborhood for long enough and
- 38:10the hiding spots get sort of known.
- 38:12Well, sure, you know, you got to mix it up anyway.
- 38:16Plus the time matters. Like if you have, you know, 4
- 38:21hours versus 2, you could change the radius and then and then,
- 38:26OK, so getting past the hiding. So you got the boundaries, you
- 38:30got the hiding area. Then the most fun part comes is
- 38:34not only because you're a bad guy or a good guy, not only do
- 38:38you have to be seen and then you have to be caught, so you get to
- 38:44run away. So you got your hiding spot, and
- 38:47then the cops, like I found you and you're like, catch me
- 38:52sucker. And you take off running.
- 38:54And then it's basically a game of really, really intense tag,
- 38:58weaving around bushes and around houses and over fences and
- 39:03trying to avoid capture. And then if you get caught, you
- 39:09go to jail. And when you go to jail, you
- 39:11lose. I mean, I feel like there were
- 39:13some variants when maybe you could have got broken out of
- 39:16jail, but I could also be wrong. And so that's why for me, like
- 39:21that's probably the best game as a kid and the best game because
- 39:27it blends the two classics that are all standing that it's they
- 39:32stand the test of time. They're they're all fantastic,
- 39:35all wonderful, all-encompassing tag and hide and go seek mixed
- 39:39together with some adventure. So that for me, that's it.
- 39:45And I think my argument's complete at this point, although
- 39:48your face has to be concerned. No, only cuz I'm blown away that
- 39:52you played it on a 12 block radius.
- 39:55Well, how far? OK, you know where I grew up.
- 39:57Are you? Yes.
- 39:58So if you were from like my house to the to the track.
- 40:03To the territory. It went to the tracks.
- 40:06Often it would be to the tracks down to the park.
- 40:10I guess maybe it didn't go past the end of the street and then
- 40:14it would go back, but it didn't go back past the alley.
- 40:20So I'm just, OK. So it really was.
- 40:22So it was like 1 block. OK.
- 40:25Like lengthwise, but probably I don't know 3 or 4 the other
- 40:32width wise I guess because it went through 123 4 rows of like
- 40:39houses, so that would be equivalent to like four blocks I
- 40:42guess it. Still seems really large.
- 40:44It was. We were wild.
- 40:46I don't know. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:47And fast. I mean, I, I kind of thinking
- 40:51today as an adult, it would be really weird to have some kid
- 40:56just randomly hiding in the yard.
- 40:58Could you imagine? You just go out?
- 40:59You'd. Be like, what are you doing?
- 41:01Maybe like cops and robbers. I'd be like, heck yeah, that's
- 41:04amazing. I hope you win.
- 41:07I mean, I would actually probably be very happy for them
- 41:09if they were to say. But you would ask though.
- 41:11Yeah, I'd be like, can I help you and begging mom.
- 41:14Or nobody would have asked. No.
- 41:16Like they just no. No, there was always some
- 41:19someone who. Oh yeah, you had like a old man
- 41:22crotchety or something in your neighborhood.
- 41:23I'm not naming names on purpose. Well, I think everybody had
- 41:26somebody in their neighborhood who was a killjoy.
- 41:29That's probably true. Who didn't want?
- 41:31People. I don't recall what.
- 41:32And they were talking I Oh, well, maybe not in
- 41:34Pleasantville, but like. I think in Pleasantville.
- 41:37I think that, well, that was a good game When we were talking
- 41:44about this, the the game that I always loved as a kid that was
- 41:50so great that it was not that it was that even the the adults
- 41:58around really kind of encouraged this game.
- 42:01It would be actually more of a gym game, which later would be
- 42:06turned into a sport because it was so epic.
- 42:10Was dodgeball. Mm hmm.
- 42:14I loved dodgeball and what was great about dodgeball to me was
- 42:19that you would have all these people who, you know, and this
- 42:24was kids that probably in general would, you know, just
- 42:27just really their size in common, right?
- 42:30Their age in common. And you would have two captains.
- 42:34And those captains would look at this huge line of people and
- 42:38they'd be sizing them up, right? Like very different than, you
- 42:42know, like a hide and go seek where you're picking one person.
- 42:45But you'd have this captain and they'd be looking and they'd be
- 42:47strategizing. How can I build the best team?
- 42:50How do I get this team? And as a kid, well, I wasn't
- 42:55though best at sports. I was pretty darn good at
- 42:58sports. And being a kid in elementary
- 43:02school, it was very much boys versus girls type of a concept.
- 43:07And really well, OK, finish listening where frequently boys
- 43:14would be picked first on teams, right?
- 43:18So I would not be picked before the last boy.
- 43:22I'd always be picked probably before one of the last boys,
- 43:25which would make me one of the top girls, right?
- 43:29Because people knew that I knew how to play the game really
- 43:31well. And while I wasn't like I
- 43:36wouldn't be able to throw the ball clear across the gym and
- 43:39just pelt somebody, you know that boy, would you hit
- 43:42somebody? I that, but I was really good at
- 43:45catching the ball. Oh yeah.
- 43:47And that is a huge thing in dodgeball to catch the ball and
- 43:52get you're a good. Catcher, you're getting picked
- 43:54for sure. You are getting picked and like
- 43:56it would just be one of those times.
- 43:58Every time I got picked I was like captain, my captain.
- 44:01How? How can I help your?
- 44:04Team captain, yeah. Yeah, it just felt such like
- 44:08such a charge of honor. I don't know, I couldn't I it
- 44:10just it would felt good to be picked and to play well.
- 44:15Like I played that game really, really well.
- 44:18And it's I could hit somebody close enough.
- 44:20I would. But like that quite that that
- 44:23slap and like you could hear that big red rubber ball, the
- 44:28sound of that pelting somebody in a face.
- 44:31Yeah, you know, and the thing was face it would I wouldn't use
- 44:35that stuff. I wasn't hitting them in the
- 44:36face, but you could hear that sound and the kid would be like,
- 44:40I'm OK, because they still want to play, you know, like it
- 44:43wouldn't matter. They're like, boom, back in the
- 44:46game. Let's win this for whatever team
- 44:48it was. If it was class on class, it was
- 44:50a matter of who who could actually bring it.
- 44:53And then the bragging rights from that game, if you were good
- 44:58at that game, that reputation that continued with you, you
- 45:03know, and people were like, that kid can play and if you weren't
- 45:06good, it's OK. We still needed bodies to get
- 45:08hit by the ball. That's.
- 45:09True, you need bodies. There was a role for everybody,
- 45:13and sometimes there would be sacrificial lambs, and that's
- 45:16OK. You know, that was your that we
- 45:19needed people to get hit to, you know, like the strategies and
- 45:23like the combining together. And it was not like here are the
- 45:28rules, you know, or you didn't have a coach saying here are the
- 45:31plays or anything like that. It was kids, how can we make
- 45:35this happen? It was so well, you had to have,
- 45:39if you're in school, your teacher would say you can play
- 45:41this game. But also like thinking about
- 45:43that, you know, like the teachers just like, I just want
- 45:46to see these kids throw balls at each other all day.
- 45:49Just kick up and relax that. 'D be pretty fun.
- 45:51And they knew that we would always love it.
- 45:53Always. You know, there was never I,
- 45:56well, of course I see the eyes and with you myself, but I don't
- 45:59ever remember thinking I don't want to play that game right
- 46:02now. There's a few different versions
- 46:04of dodgeball and when I was a kid, we had something that was
- 46:07really similar to dodgeball. It was essentially dodgeball,
- 46:10but we called it trench and I think it had to, there was maybe
- 46:13a couple more balls and there were in dodgeball, I have no
- 46:15idea. But then there was another kind
- 46:17of dodgeball where people would stand against a wall and you'd
- 46:22have the person who's throwing trying to hit people with the
- 46:24big rubber ball. That is not my favorite version.
- 46:27It is the team version which is not now later on has now it is
- 46:34such a great game that has turned into a sport, which is
- 46:37not typical. I mean maybe all sports started
- 46:40this but it is now a sport and I also.
- 46:43Roller Derby is a sport. Now, roller Derby is a sport
- 46:45too, but that's not what I'm talking about.
- 46:47I'm talking about dodgeball and I years ago.
- 46:51This is a really weird memory, but years ago I had a dream.
- 46:56This was when I was pregnant. I had a dream about dodgeball,
- 47:00which is a weird thing to dream about, but I really liked it as
- 47:03a kid. Had you recently watched the
- 47:04movie Dodgeball? No, no.
- 47:06But I had a dream, and I was. I was dreaming that suddenly out
- 47:14of somewhere, someone had invented trampoline dodgeball.
- 47:20So I was really kind of excited about this concept, you know,
- 47:25And then like a few days later or something, I don't know,
- 47:27maybe it probably heard something about it, but it
- 47:29didn't cross my brain at the time.
- 47:31But then at some point, well, I was pregnant, someone said, did
- 47:34you know that they're playing trampoline dodgeball at the
- 47:37trampoline park? And I was so sad.
- 47:39I was like, but I can't play. I'm like 85 weeks pregnant.
- 47:44Jumping on a trampoline and throwing balls is probably not
- 47:47what I should be doing. I was so sad and I was going to
- 47:50play it when I was no longer pregnant and I haven't yet.
- 47:54Well, I have and it is. It's wild.
- 47:58I bet it's epic. I don't know if I like it more.
- 48:03With the trampoline than without the trampoline it.
- 48:06Definitely adds an element of insanity that is not there in
- 48:10the regular game and it's much more dangerous because if you're
- 48:15I've seen some bad listen if you get hit hard enough while you're
- 48:20in like a mid jump, it's going to mess up your landing.
- 48:24Yeah, yeah. So folks like you and me, we're
- 48:27probably breaking an ankle in that situation.
- 48:31Well, there's many reasons why I don't jump on trampolines
- 48:34anymore. And yeah, I don't it's, it's
- 48:39not. Maybe one day I'll risk it
- 48:42again. I mean, I would play against you
- 48:44in trampoline basketball. It would be my pleasure.
- 48:47I feel like I would win. I would sacrifice certain parts
- 48:51of me that have been broken down by time because I did.
- 48:55I mean like I I can throw pretty.
- 48:59Sounds like you could catch pretty well.
- 49:00I can catch real. Well, that's a good, that's a
- 49:03good skill to have. Yeah.
- 49:04Yeah. I was picked for throwing when I
- 49:06was a kid. Really.
- 49:08Yep. You dodgeball?
- 49:09Hell yeah. So.
- 49:12OK, what do you say? You haven't played any sports.
- 49:14I'll trust you. How many sports have you played
- 49:16with me? I will trust.
- 49:18You. That's like 0.
- 49:20I, I, I will trust you. OK, I don't trust you.
- 49:23A lot of eye rolling on that's. Because I have seen you throw.
- 49:27A dodgeball. No.
- 49:29OK, no, they're not all the same.
- 49:32I understand. Yeah, I am the one who played
- 49:35lots of sports with throwing balls.
- 49:37The reason I'm probably better at dodgeball than the small ball
- 49:39sports is because. Than the small ball sports,
- 49:43yeah. I mean, like, I'm OK at just not
- 49:46like a fastball with like a baseball or a softball.
- 49:49I could get it to somebody. I can throw football pretty
- 49:53well. I'm not good at basketball.
- 49:55There's something about getting it in the hoop, but I feel like
- 49:58it's cuz of the size of the ball.
- 50:00It's similar to a soccer ball and I was really good at soccer
- 50:03as a kid, so I think that might have something to do with it.
- 50:08OK, maybe, maybe not. But again, goes to show you,
- 50:11you're like, I was good at dodgeball too.
- 50:14I think most people have really good memories of dodgeball.
- 50:17I bet there's a bunch of people that have pretty terrible
- 50:20memories of dodgeball. Those sacrificial lamps might be
- 50:23listening and watching. No, but no.
- 50:25Right now. Such an.
- 50:26Important theory, you Amber. I know, but you're trying.
- 50:29To throw them a bone? No, it's you're out here pelting
- 50:32them in the face. I did not say I.
- 50:35Did that? No, because I.
- 50:36Said I couldn't really do that. We were.
- 50:37Just on the team that had the sacrificial lamps.
- 50:40Everybody had sacrificial lamps, that's how it was.
- 50:43My game was about the inclusion of the neighborhood.
- 50:48No, this is including Everett. It wasn't.
- 50:50Violence happening. What I've kind of heard, they
- 50:54were talking about chasing people all over the place.
- 50:57Yeah, we weren't beating each other up.
- 50:59OK, you love you also said that you really like dodgeball, so
- 51:02you can't go for sure. You cannot go banging on a game
- 51:06that you're. Just.
- 51:07Saying that you liked. I can't imagine there's many
- 51:10people out there that have played cops and robbers that
- 51:13would think, I gotta think, oh, I did not like that game.
- 51:15But I guarantee you there's people out there who play
- 51:17dodgeball who are thinking back on it right now going that was
- 51:20not a good game for me. But I remember.
- 51:22That's OK, I'm not trying to take you down.
- 51:24I know. Yeah, you are.
- 51:26The voters are gonna do. No, no, no, Luke.
- 51:28Luke definitely want to take me down.
- 51:30I understand. But here's me again.
- 51:33I really have to go with my own personal favorite and not a vote
- 51:37getter, OK? And for me, honestly, it's
- 51:40dodgeball. And for me, it's cops and
- 51:44robbers. It's tag plus hide and seek.
- 51:46That's what it is there. It is.
- 51:50There it is. That's the question asked and
- 51:53answered for all the world. Literally the entire.
- 51:58World. Whole world.
- 51:59Yeah, yeah. So if you have enjoyed this
- 52:03episode, please like it and rate it where you find it, whether
- 52:08it's on one of the podcast places or on one of the video
- 52:12places. We're sort of all over now, so
- 52:15you can find us where you want to find us.
- 52:18And for us, one of the most fun parts and part of the premise of
- 52:22the show is to have you vote. Yeah, Now where can they vote?
- 52:26So voting, you know what the best place to vote is going to
- 52:30be through the Spotify pool, which is where you can actually

- 52:37can vote. That's the best place to vote.
- 52:39You could vote on our social media pages for the Arguing Ever
- 52:43After at which is on Facebook, or Arguing Ever After on

- 52:53Wow. We're on all those things.
- 52:55That's everything so you could. Comment within there and we
- 52:57would track that as well. It's not everything.
- 52:59It's almost everything. So that's what I would say.
- 53:03But you know, again, share the show, share it with your
- 53:05friends, family, share it with those people you used to play
- 53:10dodgeball and cops and robbers with and be like, hey, remember
- 53:13when you pelted me in the head? Or remember when what?
- 53:17If we came up with a a version of cops and robbers dodgeball
- 53:21for our friends, like right now, like let's go do cops and
- 53:23robbers, but the cop has a dodgeball and the way he gets
- 53:27you in jail is hitting you with the dodgeball.
- 53:29I'm sure you know what, there would have been a time back in
- 53:33the day when I'm sure a game like that was.
- 53:34Created. So I mean, if you know the name
- 53:37of that game. Let us know.
- 53:40Heck yeah comment We love your comments.
- 53:42And please tune in next time. Yeah, to lucky number 13 and
- 53:53seasonally appropriate. Yeah.
- 53:54We'll. See, cuz I think it might come
- 53:56out in October. Hey yo, all right folks.
- 53:59Thanks for joining us. Bye.
