- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I'd say there's a pretty good chance that you know somebody who has a tattoo, or maybe you have a tattoo yourself.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: What's the purpose of a tattoo?
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Well, a tattoo is a way to mark your identity.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: A tattoo can be a picture, a name, a date, or even a symbol, and any of those images can be a reminder to yourself and the world of who you are and what's important to you.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: However, there's another kind of marking that can define you, and that is your scars.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: A scar represents past trauma or brokenness, and a scar can be visible on your skin, or it can also be stored inside your heart and mind where other people can't see it.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Your scars don't detract from your power as a writer.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Instead, I believe the opposite is true.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: I believe scars actually enhance your power.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Stephen King said, a little talent is a good thing to have if you want to be a writer, but the only real requirement is the ability to remember every scar.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So I want to encourage you, my friend, don't be afraid to let your scars show through.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Those wounds are part of your story, and those wounds have given you life lessons that you couldn't have gotten any other way.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So don't try to erase the scars, rather, embrace them as a powerful part of your story.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Here's today's challenge.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Think about an area of your life that you've been a little bit afraid to reveal to other people.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And how can you let your guard down just a little bit and use that experience to help others?
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: A big thanks to today's sponsor, Thumbprint Creative.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: You've probably heard the saying, don't judge a book by its cover.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: But in the book world, it's absolutely not true.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: People do judge the quality of a book by its cover, and in fact, the cover design is the first thing people notice about a book.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: That's why my graphic designer of choice is Christy Griffith, owner of Thumbprint Creative.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I've worked with Christy for many years, and she's designed covers and interior layouts for my own books, my ghostwriting clients, as well as lots of books for friends that I've sent her away.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Christy works closely with you to design a layout that perfectly captures the theme and genre of the book.

- 2:46SPEAKER_00: As always, my friend, thanks for listening, and I'll see you next time.
