If your PhD feels easy, something is wrong.
When I hear people say their PhD was easy, I almost cringe.
Because that tells me they’re not getting pushed.
The process itself is not terribly difficult.
What’s difficult is dealing with people that are very smart, internalizing what they have to say, processing it, and still moving forward in a healthy way.
If you’re in a halfway decent program, working with people that are sharp, it will be very tough.
It will be rigorous.
You will feel challenged all of the time.
It’s like training with a coach.
Hours. Constant push. Sometimes people get upset…
