- 0:00Steve, how are things? So, Matt, let's further explore
- 0:03the Orwell metaphor regarding Republicans, though.
- 0:07Oh, how surprising that you're going down that direction.
- 0:10Well, I don't know how much longer Matt Republicans can deny
- 0:14what they know down deep to be true, that under the charismatic
- 0:19Donald Trump, Republicans have, in the words of George Orwell,
- 0:23learn to love Big Brother. Big intrusive government.
- 0:28Big government intervening in. OK, I'm not.
- 0:31I'm not actually disagreeing yet.
- 0:32I'm not disagreeing yet, Steve. Big government intervening into
- 0:36multiple layers of our lives, into our economy, met into free
- 0:41market trade. Big government intervention into
- 0:44free. Press Do you care about those
- 0:45things, Steve? Free speech, intervening into
- 0:48other countries and even and even intervening into our own
- 0:53state-run election. Steve, sweetheart, do you
- 0:56believe in those things? Do you care about those things?
- 0:59I know that the Republicans are being hypocritical because
- 1:01they're they supposedly do and they clearly don't.
- 1:04But I'm curious if you do. Why do you think I'm I'm, I'm,
- 1:07I'm so ripped. At, at at, at, at, What are?
- 1:11Republic. So you care about like, like
- 1:13free, you know, markets and you care about civil liberties and
- 1:18you care, you care about those things.
- 1:20What I care about is what we have now is Republicanism turned
- 1:24upside down. No, no, I don't want you.
- 1:26I'm not here for political broadcasting, friend.
- 1:28I, I want you to answer the question because if, well, if
- 1:31you do, if you care about it and you're hitting the Republicans
- 1:34for this, I will just make note of the fact that while you are
- 1:38accurate and I agree that the Republicans no longer care about
- 1:42this at all and Trump is proof of that, the populist turn has
- 1:45been incredibly disappointing to me as somebody that actually
- 1:49does care about this stuff. But if you do care about those
- 1:52things, then you look at the Democratic Party and they have
- 1:55not cared about those things for longer and worse.
- 1:58So I'm it's interesting that you're picking the target that
- 2:02you're picking when the lack of freedom and respect for free
- 2:06marketing that exists far worse, far, far worse on the left right
- 2:10now, We now have no party that cares about it.
- 2:12That's the real take away from this is that neither party does.
- 2:16But the the Democrats abandoned it first, and they abandoned it
- 2:19longer ago and much, much more aggressively.
- 2:22Well, here's my cake that right now Republicans are believing
- 2:26that 2 + 2 = 5, and they really see that 5 now they really see
- 2:31that fifth light bulb and. At least they still believe in
- 2:35math even if they're wrong about their math.
- 2:37I mean, the, the Democrats proposals for, I mean, like just
- 2:41Medicare for all is an example of it.
- 2:42I mean, like there is not the tax revenue to fund that.
- 2:45There isn't. Like, I mean, it's just
- 2:47preposterous the amount of the amount of fairy dust that I'm
- 2:50expected to believe in. If I listen to AOC or Bernie
- 2:53Sanders. It's it's not you, not even
- 2:56math. It's not even math.
- 2:58So you're not wrong, Steve. You're not wrong.
- 3:01Hey, thank you. But and to add to everything,
- 3:05what about our exploding deficits?
- 3:07I mean, this is this is republicanism turned.
- 3:11On it. I'm not letting you get away
- 3:12with that. Yes, as I just said in the last
- 3:16statement you made, the Republicans don't care about
- 3:18deficits and they've proven it and they're awful.
- 3:21And it's the most thing that makes me the sickest about
- 3:23having a Republican majority in office now twice under the Trump
- 3:26administration, number one and two, and having done not only
- 3:29nothing about it, but making it worse.
- 3:31But if you really want to sit there and say that while the
- 3:34presidencies of Joe Biden exist and the presidencies of Barack
- 3:37Obama exist, then you have absolutely zero legs to stand
- 3:40on, Sir, because they were worse than this.
- 3:46I don't think so. I think they are.
- 3:47Explored. Let me tell you what $1.5
- 3:54trillion will do to the deficit for a military.
- 3:57How about 3? I mean, when you're talking
- 3:58about Biden, I mean, dude, that that he was proposing a $4
- 4:01trillion. He he didn't even get what he
- 4:04wanted. He had to chop that stupid
- 4:06infrastructure bill that did nothing for this country in half
- 4:10to make it $2 trillion. The but the deficit that year
- 4:13was 2 1/2 trillion, I think. I mean, it was it was an insane
- 4:17amount. I mean, we're already we're at
- 4:19an insane every year, yes, but like the the degree to which
- 4:22which Joe Biden did not care about the deficit was in advance
- 4:25of what Trump doesn't care about the deficit.
- 4:28Let's just agree here, Steve, that neither one of them care
- 4:30about it. But to to act the thing that I
- 4:34have for a problem with your calls, Sir, is not the point
- 4:38you're making because I've repeatedly said that I actually
- 4:40agree with most of what you're trying to say here.
- 4:42My my problem with your call, Steve, is that the focus of your
- 4:46ire is on the right. It's on the Republican side of
- 4:50the aisle and it is you have this blind spot for the
- 4:55Democrats, the progressives, the left.
- 4:58And you know, as you talk about the left and the right and all
- 5:02that stuff, every time, it's amazing to me how much of A pass
- 5:05you give to the reckless insanity of America's left wing
- 5:09of politics while you focus on the hypocrisy of the right not
- 5:14doing things that you claim you care about, but you clearly
- 5:19don't. If you support any left wing
- 5:20politicians, that's that's you solve that problem, Steve.
- 5:25Your calls will increase in quality by 2000%.
- 5:29Chris in South Portland. What's going on, Chris?
- 5:32Not much. Just listening to that in the
- 5:34morning, Steve calls, you know, every.
- 5:36It's always a fun experience. It is.
- 5:38He does make some points every now and then, but.
- 5:41Dude that was actually one of the most the calls that I agreed
- 5:44with the most of his. Like he's not wrong about a lot
- 5:47of it, it's just the motivation behind the call bugs me.
- 5:50Right. And then he jumps on he.
- 5:51Yeah, he jumps on the same train.
- 5:53Yeah, oddly enough, you and I have met Steve from.
- 5:57That is accurate. Brick in person.
- 5:58We have indeed. But let's hop on just a little
- 6:03fun train here. We got the nationally known
- 6:08Democrat with a Nazi tattoo, and AOC is just AOC and Bernie
- 6:14Sanders say the most nonsensical things because they're pandering
- 6:18to people who truly don't have an education of any kind.
- 6:22And the words sound big, but if you understand words, you're
- 6:24like, none of what you put together makes any sense.
- 6:27But he always rides on the Conservatives and you know.
- 6:34It's good, right? Look, I mean the Conservatives
- 6:36deserve. To hit the other side.
- 6:38Yeah, you do. I mean, the conservatives
- 6:39deserve, deserve to get whacked like they're, they are
- 6:42hypocrites and they're it's it's pathetic to watch the
- 6:44Republicans in Congress. It just is.
- 6:47But please don't insult my intelligence to if you care
- 6:51about the debt, if you care about math, I mean to actually
- 6:54say that the Republicans are the problem while the Democrats have
- 6:58been sitting there for the better part of 40 years doing
- 7:01what they've been doing. The the national debt has is
- 7:05true in my opinion, is a product of too much good feelings on
- 7:10each side. And like unfortunately we're
- 7:12going to people are going to have to suffer to get it under
- 7:15control. Otherwise the true suffering
- 7:17everyone will feel. But anyway, you guys have a good
- 7:20day. Thank you, Chris.
- 7:21Appreciate it.
