- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to The Favorites, the podcast from the Action Network.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We are part of the Volume podcast Network. I am
- 0:18Speaker 1: Chad Millman. I have my co host, Simon Hunter with me.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And Simon, I know you're gonna be very excited about
- 0:29Speaker 1: what happened last week, because something very interesting happened. You
- 0:33Speaker 1: are my bff. You are my professional football betting buddy,
- 0:40Speaker 1: so you would be thrilled that. As March Madness was beginning,
- 0:45Speaker 1: the trending Twitter sphere was dominated not by Gunzaga or
- 0:50Speaker 1: Michigan or twelve versus five bracketbusters. It was dominated by
- 0:58Speaker 1: NFL Free agent sheet. And by the way, Simon, it
- 1:03Speaker 1: wasn't like Tom Brady signed. It was John Brown signed,
- 1:09Speaker 1: Curtis Samuel will sign with Washington, Ryan Fitzpatrick signed with Washington.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Not big names, but that was big enough for our
- 1:17Speaker 1: Twitter obsessives. Simon, my buddy, the joy of Northern England,
- 1:24Speaker 1: the pride of South Jersey. How did that make you feel?
- 1:29Speaker 1: The intro always so good? Yeah, it was hilarious. How
- 1:32Speaker 1: many people are hit me up? I was like, can
- 1:33Speaker 1: we just enjoy these college basketball games just for a weekend?
- 1:36Speaker 1: But now there are no all dings of the NFL,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and uh yeah, we'll talk. We're definitely gonna dive in.
- 1:42Speaker 1: We'll talk about our own personal teams, the misery we're
- 1:44Speaker 1: going through with all this free agency, and uh man,
- 1:48Speaker 1: it's I mean, we can all agree. The biggest, second
- 1:50Speaker 1: biggest sport in Americas the NBA. And you saw the
- 1:54Speaker 1: NBA is gonna sign a new TV deal, big number,
- 1:56Speaker 1: eight billion dollars. That's that's a lot of money. And
- 1:59Speaker 1: then you just see the NFL coming over and over
- 2:01Speaker 1: top saying, yeah, we're doing a hundred and ten billion
- 2:04Speaker 1: dollar deal TV deals. So NFL is king. It's just
- 2:08Speaker 1: it's just so far out of all the other sports.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's pretty crazy, just how obsessed the fans are with it.
- 2:12Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm excited to dive in and everything I
- 2:14Speaker 1: have in this last couple of weeks. Well, look, you
- 2:17Speaker 1: you mentioned, uh your team struggling, My team, no heartbreak
- 2:23Speaker 1: whatsoever because of all the free agency news. For those
- 2:26Speaker 1: of us who love the Bears, our national nightmare is
- 2:31Speaker 1: over because Mitch Trubisky has moved on. And who is
- 2:36Speaker 1: he signed with? Producer Matt Mitchell? Who has he signed
- 2:40Speaker 1: with your beloved Buffalo Bills? What do you think of
- 2:44Speaker 1: that buddy chat. I've played fantasy college football since two
- 2:50Speaker 1: thousand and in t U n C S MITR Trobiski
- 2:54Speaker 1: was my fantasy quarterback. Then it gets trapped by Chicago.
- 2:57Speaker 1: All my in laws are Bears fans, and now he
- 3:00Speaker 1: signs with Buffalo. So this is gonna be six seasons
- 3:04Speaker 1: where I can't get this guy out of my life.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So as a Bills fan, we can't light enough Josh
- 3:10Speaker 1: Allen prayer candles to adequately protect his precious, precious body
- 3:16Speaker 1: to prevent Mitch Robinsky from taking the field. And if
- 3:18Speaker 1: it wasn't illegal, I kidnap him and encase him in
- 3:21Speaker 1: loose sight like a giant, fancy paperweight, because if I
- 3:24Speaker 1: see Josh Allen go down, I'm just gonna calmly turn
- 3:27Speaker 1: my TV off, unplug it, put it in my car,
- 3:31Speaker 1: drove it a mile down the road, and I'll just
- 3:33Speaker 1: toss it into Lake Michigan. Yeah. I feel so bad
- 3:36Speaker 1: for you. This couldn't be any worse, Like this is
- 3:39Speaker 1: the I already beat my Buffalo Bill's future, and I
- 3:42Speaker 1: wish I was getting a refund. I understand how you
- 3:44Speaker 1: feel there, you know, especially when you're when you're backing
- 3:47Speaker 1: Mitch Robinsky, or as our our Old Pals document call
- 3:50Speaker 1: him Mitch Bordles. It never feels good. You've just been
- 3:54Speaker 1: bordled with time to own field. It's a lot of same.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Intercepted by Shakil and intercepted again by Shakil Priffin. It's
- 4:07Speaker 1: intercepted Trabisky over the middle, sucking mile Tropisky gets caught
- 4:15Speaker 1: trying to force something in there, Rabinsky fading back and
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Waggles got the football picked off and pass deep
- 4:23Speaker 1: the field into a lot of traffic and made has
- 4:26Speaker 1: tonna be picked off at the thirty ships yard line
- 4:29Speaker 1: And that's gonna spting at the forty yard line overthrow.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You did not have to do that. You did not
- 4:35Speaker 1: have to do that. You you're forcing something in the
- 4:38Speaker 1: Well look now, Simon, we're not even gonna get into
- 4:41Speaker 1: this because Andy Dalton is now the quarterback of the
- 4:44Speaker 1: Chicago Bears. And it can't get worse than that, no
- 4:48Speaker 1: matter how bad it has gotten for the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 1: we just brought in Joe Flacco for a workout, Joe Flacco,
- 4:55Speaker 1: so it can get worse. But yeah, that's about to
- 4:57Speaker 1: say you're throwing a lot of stones on the glass
- 4:59Speaker 1: out there feeling pretty high and mighty. I by getting
- 5:01Speaker 1: rid of mich Sture whisky for Addie Dalton. I don't know.
- 5:04Speaker 1: We'll definitely talk about when the season gets closer, but
- 5:06Speaker 1: I feel so bad for Bears fans. It was like
- 5:09Speaker 1: they went for it, they went for Russ, it didn't
- 5:11Speaker 1: work out, and we'll talk about obviously the whole thing
- 5:14Speaker 1: going Watson. They didn't want to touch that whole situation.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So they're like, you know what, Andy Dulton, let's bring
- 5:19Speaker 1: him in. And there's people they are defending and don't
- 5:21Speaker 1: be like, hey, this guy has been in the playoffs
- 5:22Speaker 1: a bunch of times, YadA YadA, YadA. Oh man, it's
- 5:26Speaker 1: he's kind of a stop gap. I think. I don't
- 5:29Speaker 1: know because at the GM and we'll talk about, like
- 5:30Speaker 1: your guy's owner, this is everything, like this is their
- 5:33Speaker 1: last season supposedly, but I don't know how they worked
- 5:36Speaker 1: fired after the whole Niche thing, so who knows what's
- 5:38Speaker 1: going on. They weren't fired because the owners stood in
- 5:41Speaker 1: front of the media and gave a press conference. He said,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I'm keeping them around for one more year, but I'm
- 5:47Speaker 1: not giving him extension. I feel like they've earned it
- 5:50Speaker 1: because Ryan Pace found a wide receiver in the sixth
- 5:53Speaker 1: round who performed really well this year. Swear to god,
- 5:56Speaker 1: that's what he said. But you said one of the
- 5:58Speaker 1: things you said, we'll get We'll talk it as the
- 6:00Speaker 1: season gets closer. Dude, the NFL season never ends like
- 6:04Speaker 1: free agency. There's new right steals. You mentioned that yesterday
- 6:08Speaker 1: was trending on Twitter that the draft will have in
- 6:10Speaker 1: person attendance, and so like we're going to discuss all
- 6:15Speaker 1: of that, how it impacts future odds, how it impacts
- 6:19Speaker 1: fantasy productions projections, or to discuss all that with not
- 6:25Speaker 1: just Simon Hunter, who is one of our newest employees
- 6:30Speaker 1: but one of my new favorite people at Action Network
- 6:35Speaker 1: and someone I truly can stand Samantha Prived, our newest
- 6:41Speaker 1: Action Network analyst and TikTok star. And Matthew Freedman, who
- 6:46Speaker 1: was actually, by the way I've done the math, he
- 6:48Speaker 1: is atop our Action Network leaderboard as most likely to
- 6:52Speaker 1: get fired, slightly ahead of Simon Hunter, who is racing
- 6:55Speaker 1: up very very quickly. Hello Matthew try Uh, it's great.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I mean, the odds really should be am I fired
- 7:04Speaker 1: While we're recording this podcast or not. Um, I like
- 7:08Speaker 1: my chances of being inflammatory enough to get fired, but
- 7:12Speaker 1: you never know, Simon might outdo me and I get
- 7:15Speaker 1: fired first. But I can still get fired on the show.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'm really excited to be here, uh and to talk
- 7:20Speaker 1: more about Mitchell Troubinsky and to rub as much salt
- 7:23Speaker 1: in your wounds as I can. Not my problem anymore.
- 7:26Speaker 1: It's on Matt Mitchell's Uh. Samantha, Hello, welcome to your
- 7:31Speaker 1: first appearance on the favorite podcast. Hello, and thank you
- 7:34Speaker 1: so much for having me. That was quite an interest.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Thank you. Well. Listen, I do think before we even
- 7:40Speaker 1: get into it, I think you should share with listeners
- 7:42Speaker 1: because it's the first time that people are getting a
- 7:45Speaker 1: chance to be introduced to you on the podcast, uh
- 7:49Speaker 1: in the Action Network universe. So explain to people your
- 7:53Speaker 1: path from what you were doing to UH fantasy analyst.
- 7:59Speaker 1: It really a beloved media business. Um that really, it
- 8:05Speaker 1: couldn't be a better spot. Yeah, thank you so much.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I was previously at the New York Post as the
- 8:13Speaker 1: director of analytics and sort of started to do the
- 8:17Speaker 1: fantasy stuff on the side. It became a much bigger thing,
- 8:20Speaker 1: and I'm kind of best known quote unquote for silly TikTok's.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I mean I would take basically my start Said articles,
- 8:29Speaker 1: my waiver wide articles and try to make them into
- 8:32Speaker 1: like different types of content. So that included doing handstands
- 8:36Speaker 1: and giving start Said advice at the same time, so
- 8:39Speaker 1: really kind of out there type stuff, just embarrassing myself
- 8:42Speaker 1: in front of gen Z. It's very exciting. Um. And
- 8:45Speaker 1: then I just you know, this season was the first
- 8:48Speaker 1: season that I got very involved with like the fantasy community.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I would say like being part of Scott Fish Bull
- 8:54Speaker 1: really helped that. Just meeting a lot of new people
- 8:56Speaker 1: and everything like that. And you know, Matthew was kind
- 9:01Speaker 1: of to slide my d MS, not in a creepy way,
- 9:03Speaker 1: just like a normal way, and I was like, hey, like,
- 9:06Speaker 1: why don't we just want don't we chat about action?
- 9:09Speaker 1: And I'm just like so excited to be here. So yeah,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I guess that's my little circuitous path by the definitely
- 9:18Speaker 1: not not creepy. But yeah, it's good you clarified, because
- 9:21Speaker 1: that just could have been one more reason why I
- 9:24Speaker 1: want to fire Matthew Freeman. We'll listen. You're doing fantastic work.
- 9:27Speaker 1: The most amazing thing for me was you mentioned you
- 9:30Speaker 1: were the New York Post. You were the director of
- 9:32Speaker 1: analytics there, so you weren't even in a sort of
- 9:36Speaker 1: official professional journalism role. And yet how many stories did
- 9:42Speaker 1: you write for the New York Post in in I
- 9:48Speaker 1: think it was about four and fifty articles, which was
- 9:52Speaker 1: about I think twenty three million page views in twenty twenty,
- 9:55Speaker 1: so a significant amount of work that was layered on
- 10:00Speaker 1: top of my normal job duties. I was not paid
- 10:03Speaker 1: or compensated for any of that stuff, which kind of
- 10:06Speaker 1: shocks a lot of people to know that I wrote
- 10:08Speaker 1: six something articles for free. But it's all part of
- 10:12Speaker 1: the hustle, and I just I really loved it. I
- 10:14Speaker 1: never complained for a second because it's just, uh, it's
- 10:18Speaker 1: so exciting to be able to talk about this stuff.
- 10:20Speaker 1: It really doesn't feel like work to me, so that's
- 10:23Speaker 1: why it's been great to be here. Well, listen, there's
- 10:26Speaker 1: no doubt that we can turn this from fun into
- 10:28Speaker 1: work in no time flat. I have full confidence. So
- 10:33Speaker 1: welcome to Action. Welcome to the Favorites podcast on the
- 10:36Speaker 1: Volume Network. We're thrilled that you're here. Um, oh my god,
- 10:42Speaker 1: there have been so many signings starting with you, Simon Hunter,
- 10:45Speaker 1: tell me from the last week the most impactful signing
- 10:50Speaker 1: that you've seen that would make you consider betting on
- 10:56Speaker 1: a team. I be easier to say which one's happened
- 11:01Speaker 1: that make it so I won't bet on these teams. Um,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm already in on Washington. They signed Fitzpatrick, so that's fun,
- 11:09Speaker 1: that's good. Yeah, he has some upside, but I don't
- 11:13Speaker 1: think either of us feel great about our futures. That
- 11:15Speaker 1: doesn't really do much for us. And then with Cam
- 11:17Speaker 1: with the Patriots, I loved a lot of the moves
- 11:19Speaker 1: of Patriots made. I mean, both those tight ends. They're
- 11:23Speaker 1: both everyone's one and two free agent tight ends, and
- 11:25Speaker 1: they signed both of them. I just don't really get
- 11:29Speaker 1: the move with Cam. Um. Maybe people are saying it's
- 11:33Speaker 1: true they still have o their money left over to
- 11:35Speaker 1: make a move to get a quarterback in there. He's
- 11:36Speaker 1: being paid back up quarterback money. I just don't know.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I don't know they if they come into this season
- 11:42Speaker 1: with Cam, it kind of makes it so. I don't
- 11:44Speaker 1: value any kind of feature on the Patriots. So those
- 11:47Speaker 1: are two moves at quarterback positions that just didn't really
- 11:49Speaker 1: do much for me. So there hasn't really been any
- 11:51Speaker 1: move that's like, oh, this is really improve this team
- 11:54Speaker 1: so much, I need to jump on. So it's kind
- 11:56Speaker 1: of been a fun free agent period, but not really.
- 11:58Speaker 1: It's kind of been a dud, right, Well, That's that's
- 12:00Speaker 1: what's interesting, Friedman. It feels like there's been a lot
- 12:05Speaker 1: of activity and a lot of people being signed, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: yet do any of these people move the needle for
- 12:13Speaker 1: any team whatsoever. I'm gonna disagree a little bit with
- 12:17Speaker 1: Simon On Washington. Not that Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to
- 12:21Speaker 1: propel this team to a super Bowl, but the defense
- 12:24Speaker 1: should continue to improve, and it was pretty good at
- 12:27Speaker 1: the end of last season. I think it will be
- 12:29Speaker 1: a little bit better this year. And Fitzpatrick should be
- 12:33Speaker 1: better than I mean, the combination that they had last
- 12:38Speaker 1: year of Dwayne Haskins and Alex Smith. Like he he
- 12:41Speaker 1: can't be any worse. I think at a minimum, he
- 12:43Speaker 1: gives them more upside. Maybe he gives them more downside,
- 12:46Speaker 1: but he also gives them more upside in the futures market.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That's really what we're looking for. And so in terms
- 12:51Speaker 1: of you know, their odds to win the Super Bowl,
- 12:53Speaker 1: I don't think it changes much. But their odds to
- 12:55Speaker 1: win the division. That's a little more intriguing. I think
- 12:58Speaker 1: they're a little more live there. Adding Curtis Samuel like
- 13:01Speaker 1: that offense should be markedly better than it was last year.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So I do think that the Fitzpatrick signing is a
- 13:06Speaker 1: little bit interesting, and for Cam I agree. I don't
- 13:09Speaker 1: think it really does much for the Patriots in terms
- 13:11Speaker 1: of their odds to win the Super Bowl, but for fantasy,
- 13:14Speaker 1: Cam Newton is once again someone who's kind of intriguing
- 13:17Speaker 1: as a guy you can get late in drafts, but
- 13:19Speaker 1: who has a lot of capability with his rushing. Does
- 13:24Speaker 1: he really though Samantha like, does Cam Newton really have
- 13:28Speaker 1: capability with his rushing? It felt like he's gonna score.
- 13:31Speaker 1: He might score a lot of touchdowns, but like to me,
- 13:34Speaker 1: that also felt kind of flukey last year, and that's
- 13:37Speaker 1: not where you want to have Cam Newton sort of
- 13:39Speaker 1: on a game to game basis. I don't know if
- 13:42Speaker 1: it's necessarily I felt fluky. He ended up finishing as
- 13:44Speaker 1: QV twenty, and I do feel like the rushing offsets
- 13:47Speaker 1: some movie and the mack passing. He only passed for
- 13:50Speaker 1: eight touchdowns last year, but we've seen him consistently sort
- 13:54Speaker 1: of put up that like five rushing yards number or
- 13:56Speaker 1: more every season, which gives you a really safe for
- 13:59Speaker 1: for in a C. So I think he finished his
- 14:02Speaker 1: QB twenty with the I mean Julian Edelmanan was like
- 14:06Speaker 1: injured all season and their best pass catcher was probably
- 14:10Speaker 1: James White year. So, uh, you know, with all these
- 14:13Speaker 1: additions that they've made, I can certainly see him being
- 14:17Speaker 1: impactful and probably a good draft I steal. I can't
- 14:22Speaker 1: believe it took you all of one question to go
- 14:26Speaker 1: against me and to side with Freedman. Am I already fired? Well,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you're moving up the draft. You're moving up the board
- 14:36Speaker 1: pretty quickly. I can't believe I got all three of
- 14:38Speaker 1: the people most likely to be fired on the podcast
- 14:41Speaker 1: at the exact same time. It's amazing to me, Simon.
- 14:48Speaker 1: That might say more about you, Chad. What did you
- 14:52Speaker 1: say about me? Freedman? I don't know that everyone you
- 14:54Speaker 1: look at is a threat someone you might want to fire.
- 14:58Speaker 1: M hm OK, that's interesting, that's very interesting. I'm looking
- 15:04Speaker 1: at you right now. That's the person I most want
- 15:06Speaker 1: to fire. Simon Hunter, you want to talk a little
- 15:10Speaker 1: bit about your Eagles, dilemma right now, in no real dilemma.
- 15:15Speaker 1: It's it's a lot of noise, and um, I try
- 15:19Speaker 1: to just not here, like listen like local radio any
- 15:22Speaker 1: of that, and just read the beat writers in the area.
- 15:25Speaker 1: But it sounds like it's real that we might take
- 15:27Speaker 1: a quarterback at the top of this draft. And I
- 15:30Speaker 1: know that there's a rumor came out to the owner
- 15:32Speaker 1: wants to give him a year and the owner is
- 15:34Speaker 1: like really on top of this and like wants wants
- 15:37Speaker 1: to do that, and I'm so in on that move.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I hate that we would just draft another quarterback. And
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm in the exact same position that we were just
- 15:45Speaker 1: in this past off season. So as an Eagles face,
- 15:48Speaker 1: I'm really hoping to either take the tight end for
- 15:50Speaker 1: Florida Pits or they draft one of these receivers. Um.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Everyone has different rankings and they have different ways looking
- 15:56Speaker 1: at it. Jamaar Chase incredibly, he took the season off.
- 15:59Speaker 1: He's like twenty years old from l s U. The
- 16:01Speaker 1: kids are freak. But I just want what I know
- 16:04Speaker 1: is good, and that's Smith from Alabama. The kid won
- 16:06Speaker 1: the Heisman and he has that quality that's uncoachable, unteachable
- 16:11Speaker 1: either born whether or not, and that's just scoring the
- 16:13Speaker 1: kick and just get to the end zone and he
- 16:15Speaker 1: gets in the open field. I know it's the same
- 16:17Speaker 1: thing with Jerry Rice. I rememb really talked about Jerry
- 16:19Speaker 1: Rice not fast Comana College. This guy won't burn you.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You watch that old game film when he gets the
- 16:23Speaker 1: ball in his sayings, Jerry Rice wud burn people back.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And then I think it's the same thing with Smith.
- 16:27Speaker 1: He's just an underrated guy. So an Eagles fan, I
- 16:30Speaker 1: know how he's gonna screw it up somewhere because he's
- 16:32Speaker 1: the worst general match. But I'm praying he just takes
- 16:35Speaker 1: one of these weapons with the pick, the sixth pick,
- 16:38Speaker 1: are you uh? And this is a good question for
- 16:40Speaker 1: Samantha and from Matthew. Let's start with you, Samantha sticking
- 16:44Speaker 1: on the Eagles for a second, Like how much of
- 16:47Speaker 1: a believer can you be in Jalen Hurts based on
- 16:51Speaker 1: what he did and should he be the quarterback that
- 16:55Speaker 1: should be leading the Eagles when we get into the season.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I do think he should be the quarter going to
- 17:00Speaker 1: the season. I think he showed a lot of really
- 17:03Speaker 1: great things, some rookie mistakes, some points, and definitely some
- 17:08Speaker 1: moments where you could see where he could improve, But
- 17:12Speaker 1: especially for fantasy purposes, I'm very excited for him. He
- 17:16Speaker 1: was a rock star. I think he was a league
- 17:18Speaker 1: winner for some people. Absolutely, so he definitely offers a
- 17:22Speaker 1: lot of upside and I would love, um, like you said, Simon,
- 17:24Speaker 1: if they went with like Pits or something like that.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I think, especially with like their system being pretty tight
- 17:29Speaker 1: end friendly, I would love to see that that fit there.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Free minute. Know you got something to say and you're
- 17:34Speaker 1: dying to jump in. Yeah, absolutely, I agree with Samantha
- 17:38Speaker 1: out of that was because of the rushing ability that
- 17:40Speaker 1: he has. I don't think that's going anywhere. He has
- 17:43Speaker 1: some Lamar Jackson type of capabilities. Uh, maybe he takes
- 17:46Speaker 1: a step forward. I bet him at a hundred to
- 17:49Speaker 1: one to be the m v P that's now sixty
- 17:52Speaker 1: six to one at DraftKings. Probably not gonna happen, but
- 17:56Speaker 1: I mean I still I like the odds in a
- 17:57Speaker 1: hundred to one. And in terms of who they should aft, yeah,
- 18:00Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts. He makes a lot of sense in that
- 18:02Speaker 1: too tight end system. But then you could also go
- 18:05Speaker 1: with whatever of those wide receivers. They certainly need help
- 18:08Speaker 1: at the position, but mar Chase is the guy I
- 18:10Speaker 1: prefer a little bit more. But if you went with
- 18:12Speaker 1: Davontae Smith, I want to think you were making a mistake.
- 18:15Speaker 1: But they do need to get Jalen Hurts some receiving weapons.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Simon's head just perked up when you said you bet
- 18:22Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts it a hundred of one to win the
- 18:24Speaker 1: m v P. I'm right there with him. I bet
- 18:27Speaker 1: it too, But like like you just said, it was
- 18:30Speaker 1: pure value, But I don't have any real faith in it.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Where I saw just like Samantha, I saw flashes too,
- 18:36Speaker 1: but also saw a guy that didn't do well the
- 18:39Speaker 1: second half adjustments. He panics, he looks down, and he
- 18:42Speaker 1: looks down too quick and pulls a Bundan, pulls the
- 18:44Speaker 1: ball down, runs aloud. So it's like you just said,
- 18:47Speaker 1: were betting on a second year quarterback that's gonna be
- 18:49Speaker 1: a new offensive scheme. It's worth the upside. But faith
- 18:52Speaker 1: in this Eagles team, uh none. I go through all
- 18:55Speaker 1: the numbers. We have so many holes. So if if
- 18:58Speaker 1: he can get this team to eleven and five, I've
- 19:00Speaker 1: told them for I honestly do think you could win
- 19:02Speaker 1: m VP of this upcoming season. Well, look, all of
- 19:05Speaker 1: a sudden, the NFC East as as a conference, as
- 19:07Speaker 1: a division is truly fascinating because you've got the Eagles,
- 19:13Speaker 1: new system, new coach, quarterback who was going to be
- 19:16Speaker 1: in a second year. You don't know what's going to
- 19:18Speaker 1: be happening there. You've got the Cowboys who resigned Dak
- 19:21Speaker 1: Prescott and gave him all the money, so now they
- 19:25Speaker 1: have nothing to build with the defense that was already
- 19:29Speaker 1: just atrociously bad. Um. Then you've got the Giants, and
- 19:33Speaker 1: I want to get to the Kenny Galaday signing and say,
- 19:36Speaker 1: Kawon Barkley coming back, and then and they had a
- 19:40Speaker 1: really good defense, and they also, like they resigned Leonard
- 19:43Speaker 1: Williams and gave him a whole bag of money. So
- 19:45Speaker 1: and then you got Washington, which has probably the best
- 19:48Speaker 1: front for in the NFL, and they signed a quarterback
- 19:51Speaker 1: who to me, like you said, Freeman, has enough upside
- 19:55Speaker 1: to make you excited about the division. I'm not really
- 19:57Speaker 1: thrilled about. My future is better than them anymore. But
- 20:00Speaker 1: give me a full handicap. Starting with you, Simon On,
- 20:04Speaker 1: the NFC East Division adds as you see them right now,
- 20:09Speaker 1: you don't have to tell me, like who the best
- 20:10Speaker 1: value is, tell me who you think is most likely
- 20:12Speaker 1: to win the division. I was right there with him,
- 20:14Speaker 1: Like I liked Washington coming into it. I just thought
- 20:17Speaker 1: I'd think could just find an upgrade A QB and
- 20:20Speaker 1: I don't have the greatest opinion Fits, but I think
- 20:22Speaker 1: we all agree it's he's been on thirty different teams NFL,
- 20:25Speaker 1: there's only thirty two teams, so he's definitely a journeyman.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Fits magic magic magic. But from looking at a value
- 20:35Speaker 1: perspective that that is tough to say, because like remember
- 20:38Speaker 1: last year, you wanted to do the Giants and I
- 20:39Speaker 1: talked to you off of it because I just said,
- 20:41Speaker 1: we don't trust Daniel Jones. And and once again they've
- 20:45Speaker 1: made all these moves. That's another team. They've spent a
- 20:46Speaker 1: lot of money and didn't really do anything for any
- 20:50Speaker 1: of us, not really, because it's still Daniel Jones. So
- 20:53Speaker 1: for upside, it's gonna be that with the Giants, where
- 20:56Speaker 1: if he can somehow figure it out, that team has
- 20:58Speaker 1: so many pieces around them that he should be better
- 21:01Speaker 1: and that offense should be better, especially with say Kwan
- 21:03Speaker 1: back now they have Gallada. But man, I can't tell
- 21:06Speaker 1: people listen to put their money on him. I rather
- 21:08Speaker 1: put the money on like like matt was saying, the
- 21:10Speaker 1: Washington defense. That's the most to me, that's the best
- 21:13Speaker 1: thing of this entire division is that defense. I think
- 21:15Speaker 1: they're better than Dallas's offense. So for me, when I'm
- 21:17Speaker 1: just looking at that for this division, I still feel
- 21:20Speaker 1: more more comfortable bet in Washington. I don't know, man,
- 21:23Speaker 1: I guess the question, Samantha. The question is with Kenny Golladay,
- 21:29Speaker 1: with say Kwan Barkley back, all of a sudden, do
- 21:33Speaker 1: we end up having more faith in Daniel Jones. Not really.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I would say, just to the original question, I would
- 21:39Speaker 1: say that I think Washington is the more complete team.
- 21:43Speaker 1: They seem to have more of the pieces there. And
- 21:45Speaker 1: like Matthew mentioned about what the rotating cast of quarterbacks
- 21:50Speaker 1: Kyle Allen and Doing Haskins and a lot of that,
- 21:53Speaker 1: I think a lot of that, like dysfunction and just
- 21:56Speaker 1: legacy kind of stuff about Washington makes them a really
- 22:00Speaker 1: good value pick two in general, because people tend to
- 22:02Speaker 1: undervalue the team itself in terms of the giants. I mean,
- 22:08Speaker 1: I think that Mattie and I are both on the
- 22:11Speaker 1: same page about the Kenny Golladay signing, especially from a
- 22:14Speaker 1: fantasy perspective, just because we have very little faith in Jones.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I think that I was actually one of the people
- 22:20Speaker 1: that was high on him going into the season. I
- 22:22Speaker 1: thought he would make that year to leap and it
- 22:24Speaker 1: seems like he took a huge, huge step back. And
- 22:28Speaker 1: you know, it doesn't help that the Giants o line
- 22:31Speaker 1: allowed I think the thirty first the second most sacks
- 22:34Speaker 1: in the NFL UM. I think it's like three point
- 22:36Speaker 1: one sacks per games. So he's got no protection. And
- 22:41Speaker 1: Daniel Jones is a f E F best. He's kind
- 22:43Speaker 1: of like a I think he's in like a Drew
- 22:45Speaker 1: Lock type position this year where they're surrounding him with
- 22:47Speaker 1: weapons and like make or break, like he got Kenny
- 22:51Speaker 1: Golladay last year, Drew Lock gut Jerry Judy and a
- 22:54Speaker 1: number of other weapons, and he still wasn't good. So
- 22:57Speaker 1: I kind of don't think that any of these signings
- 23:00Speaker 1: are going to make the Giants um a winning team
- 23:03Speaker 1: this season. Friedman, why don't we have any faith in
- 23:07Speaker 1: Daniel Jones? I get that everyone's saying they don't, but
- 23:10Speaker 1: why not, Like, why can't he get better with better weapons.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Aren't there aren't there examples of quarterbacks who have gotten
- 23:17Speaker 1: better with better weapons? Answer the first question first. I'm
- 23:23Speaker 1: not going to answer the first question first, and the
- 23:25Speaker 1: hope of getting fired. There are quarterbacks who have progressed,
- 23:30Speaker 1: and we saw it last year with Josh Allen. I
- 23:33Speaker 1: think you know, the big difference is that as great
- 23:36Speaker 1: as Kenny Golladay is, Stephen Diggs is a different type
- 23:41Speaker 1: of receiver who can win with separation, and when a
- 23:44Speaker 1: guy is open downfielled, it's a lot easier to hit
- 23:48Speaker 1: him and make it look like a good throw Versus
- 23:50Speaker 1: Kenny Golladay, who's a contested catch artist. It's a little
- 23:53Speaker 1: bit hard for a player like that to elevate a quarterback. Uh.
- 23:58Speaker 1: And plus Josh Allen, it's a rarity. Uh. It's not
- 24:01Speaker 1: often that a guy is, you know, pretty subpar his
- 24:05Speaker 1: first couple of seasons. It really relies a lot on
- 24:08Speaker 1: his legs. And then in your three transitions into a
- 24:11Speaker 1: guy who can really pass it, pass it with accuracy,
- 24:14Speaker 1: pass it at all layers of the field, and all
- 24:16Speaker 1: of a sudden your offense changes. On top of that,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I'll just say I don't want to have anything to
- 24:22Speaker 1: do with a quarterback who asked to count on Jason
- 24:24Speaker 1: Garrett to develop. It happened with Tony Romo, but I
- 24:28Speaker 1: think that's more Romo and less Jason Garrett. So, uh,
- 24:32Speaker 1: if you're asking me to back a team that has
- 24:34Speaker 1: Jason Garrett is the offensive coordinator, there is no way
- 24:38Speaker 1: I'm going to do it unless that team is getting
- 24:40Speaker 1: like plus eight hundred odds or something like that. So absolutely,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I'm with Samantha. I'm hands off on Daniel Jones, and
- 24:46Speaker 1: from a fantasy perspective, Kenney Golliday, although I have a
- 24:49Speaker 1: high opinion of him, I think the situation that he's
- 24:52Speaker 1: in means that right now he has not much upside
- 24:56Speaker 1: and quite a bit downside. I think him I I
- 25:01Speaker 1: said all last year that I thought Daniel Jones was
- 25:06Speaker 1: getting too much credit coming into the year. He is
- 25:10Speaker 1: not a good quarterback and had not developed, and for
- 25:13Speaker 1: some reason, like Mitch Trubisky, who was much much better
- 25:17Speaker 1: in his second year, gets slammed for being a total bust.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Whereas everyone kept saying Daniel Jones, Daniel Jones, Daniel Jones,
- 25:25Speaker 1: consider you know, continues to get the upside and the
- 25:28Speaker 1: benefit of the doubt. Um, But what are you saying?
- 25:33Speaker 1: What are you seeing in Daniel Jones that makes you
- 25:35Speaker 1: think he cannot develop? It can't be like Tony Romo
- 25:40Speaker 1: was the anomaly with Jason Garrett. It can't be that
- 25:43Speaker 1: Stefon Diggs was the anomaly with Josh Allen. Like those
- 25:47Speaker 1: are just two anomalies. Like what is it specifically about Jones?
- 25:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not a quarterback and grew, so my
- 25:54Speaker 1: opinion on sort of watching him means almost nothing. But
- 25:58Speaker 1: I'll just say it doesn't team as if he actually
- 26:02Speaker 1: is good at progressing from his first read to his
- 26:05Speaker 1: second and third reads. So if the obvious immediate schemed
- 26:09Speaker 1: throw is not there, he's not good at progressing to
- 26:14Speaker 1: the next guy he should be throwing to or moving
- 26:17Speaker 1: out of the pocket and creating something out of nothing,
- 26:21Speaker 1: and behind an offensive line that isn't giving him good protection.
- 26:25Speaker 1: It's really necessary for him to be able to create
- 26:28Speaker 1: a little bit more than your average passer. So the
- 26:32Speaker 1: combination of inability to move from first read to second
- 26:35Speaker 1: read an inability to create behind an offensive line that
- 26:38Speaker 1: isn't giving him the protection that a quarterback needs, that
- 26:42Speaker 1: to me, signals an inability to progress. Go ahead. I
- 26:48Speaker 1: was gonna say, appraise mechanics. It's it's basically everything you
- 26:51Speaker 1: just said. Any of his small hands that was a
- 26:53Speaker 1: not coming in onto the ear. We've seen it. He
- 26:55Speaker 1: fumbles a lot when he gets bodies and around him.
- 26:57Speaker 1: So right now his regression has been his body being
- 27:00Speaker 1: underneath him and he sets his feet. The throw doesn't
- 27:02Speaker 1: set him right. He doesn't keep his body in oneath him.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Today he's putting all his weight into his throat. So
- 27:07Speaker 1: he's just like you guys just said, he's not progressed
- 27:11Speaker 1: at all. And he's one of those guys where I
- 27:12Speaker 1: just don't have faith and that's why, like I'm not
- 27:14Speaker 1: betting on him, and who knows. Like he just said,
- 27:17Speaker 1: Josh Allen had that crazy year last year, he turned
- 27:19Speaker 1: it around. I talked about this upcoming season, I'm gonna
- 27:21Speaker 1: fade Josh Allen because you just know there's anna reaggression.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Thatt's just the NFL teams figure out. We always talked
- 27:28Speaker 1: about there's three to four great quarterbacks in any given
- 27:30Speaker 1: time in the league. Like it takes so much to
- 27:32Speaker 1: be great in this league. So for me, I always
- 27:35Speaker 1: look for those positions of fading these quarterbacks after a
- 27:37Speaker 1: great years. So like we saw last year with Jimmy
- 27:39Speaker 1: Garoppolo the forty nine, we faded them last year. They
- 27:42Speaker 1: just weren't the same team and it worked out. So
- 27:44Speaker 1: that's one of those the NFL just so much turnover
- 27:47Speaker 1: that with Daniel Jones, I could see him not being
- 27:49Speaker 1: good this year, and just like Mitchell be let go
- 27:51Speaker 1: after the season. One more thing to to add on
- 27:54Speaker 1: to this. What you saw him with Josh Allen in
- 27:56Speaker 1: progression from year one to year two was that he
- 27:58Speaker 1: actually did improve as a passer in terms of his
- 28:01Speaker 1: ability to move the ball down the field, so he
- 28:03Speaker 1: moved from five point four to six point seven adjusted
- 28:06Speaker 1: yards per attempt from year one to year two. With
- 28:09Speaker 1: Daniel Jones, he actually regressed last year, which moving from
- 28:12Speaker 1: year one to year two is a massive red flag.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Six point five adjusted yards per tempt to six point one.
- 28:18Speaker 1: It's very rare for a guy to get significantly worse
- 28:22Speaker 1: than year two and then take a big step forward
- 28:24Speaker 1: in year three. Simon, we debated betting the Giants and
- 28:30Speaker 1: pull the trigger on the Giants. I feel like we
- 28:32Speaker 1: did that last year seventy five times. That's just because
- 28:38Speaker 1: of value though, because we're just talking about no one likes.
- 28:41Speaker 1: No one liked Daniel Jones. So I wasn't telling you
- 28:43Speaker 1: to do that week two or three, But by week
- 28:46Speaker 1: ten eleven, that's what we did. Baby. The same thing
- 28:48Speaker 1: with the Jets. You were so mad at me, and
- 28:50Speaker 1: I was telling you we have to take the Jets.
- 28:51Speaker 1: It's like, this is the time they can't. They're not
- 28:54Speaker 1: gonna go oh in sixteen against the spread. We have
- 28:56Speaker 1: to get on the Jets eventually. So it's one of
- 28:58Speaker 1: those I'll talk people right here all off season. I'm
- 29:00Speaker 1: gonna shoot on a lot of teams often that's about
- 29:04Speaker 1: the teams I've bet on. That's just how I make
- 29:05Speaker 1: my living. So people get so upset about it. That's
- 29:08Speaker 1: where you find value. We're in bad teams. So yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: we're gonna be betting on the Giants this up coming season,
- 29:13Speaker 1: but we're gonna be fading them early on for sure.
- 29:16Speaker 1: By the way, by the way, I totally remember last
- 29:20Speaker 1: week of the season. We are desperately needing the Giants
- 29:24Speaker 1: against the Cowboys and it is a terrible, terrible game
- 29:28Speaker 1: and it's a gray, sleety day in Connecticut. I finally
- 29:32Speaker 1: get one of my kids out of the house, take
- 29:34Speaker 1: them to like some small crappy ski mountain with a buddy,
- 29:38Speaker 1: And I'm sitting in the parking lot because it's too
- 29:40Speaker 1: far away to go home and come back. And I
- 29:43Speaker 1: know that they're gonna want to do this for about
- 29:44Speaker 1: fifteen minutes, so I get them out there. I'm sitting
- 29:47Speaker 1: in a parking lot, listening to the radio and like
- 29:50Speaker 1: knowing that the Giants just need to kneel down to
- 29:55Speaker 1: end the game and us to win our bet and
- 29:57Speaker 1: stay in the money for DraftKings. Of course they fumbled
- 30:00Speaker 1: the ball and then recover it like they have to
- 30:02Speaker 1: give us the heart attack and the last player of
- 30:04Speaker 1: the game. Um, all right, I want to switch it up.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I want to go to a different team because another
- 30:08Speaker 1: team that I have a big futures bet on, the
- 30:13Speaker 1: Las Vegas Raiders, Samantha. The Las Vegas Raiders have signed
- 30:20Speaker 1: who do they sign? Kenyan Drake as a backup running back?
- 30:25Speaker 1: So what is that saying about Josh Jacobs right now?
- 30:28Speaker 1: They signed John Brown as a receiver. How many more
- 30:33Speaker 1: down the field speed receivers who probably aren't that great
- 30:36Speaker 1: at running roots do they need? Why does John Gruden
- 30:40Speaker 1: get to keep his job forever and ever and ever
- 30:43Speaker 1: as if these are good ideas. And they also didn't
- 30:46Speaker 1: they trade away like half their offensive line of the Patriots,
- 30:48Speaker 1: So like, tell me what am I supposed to think
- 30:51Speaker 1: about the Raiders? Where is the value in terms of player,
- 30:54Speaker 1: in terms of thinking about fantasy? It's a lot of questions.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Something we're at you, but you know you're director event
- 30:59Speaker 1: a X in a form of life, so you know,
- 31:01Speaker 1: fucking analyze the question. That's funny. Uh So, Yeah, I
- 31:05Speaker 1: mean I think there's definitely cause for concern with the
- 31:08Speaker 1: offensive line. Those are some pretty major losses for them,
- 31:12Speaker 1: and that obviously has huge downstream effects to a lot
- 31:16Speaker 1: of different parts of the game. And it's been interesting
- 31:18Speaker 1: to see how they've handled free agency going after a
- 31:21Speaker 1: running back when they seem to have an RB one. Um.
- 31:25Speaker 1: You know, Josh Jacobs has his moments, but he still
- 31:28Speaker 1: finishes a thousand yard rusher, finish his RB four teen
- 31:30Speaker 1: for for fantasy. So getting Drake seems very strange to me. Um.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And then yeah, getting another stretch the field type guy
- 31:38Speaker 1: when you have Derek Carr as your quarterback, A lot
- 31:42Speaker 1: of that doesn't seem to add up, especially when you
- 31:44Speaker 1: don't have an offensive line, so I really don't know
- 31:47Speaker 1: like what to think of them as a team. But
- 31:49Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like a good situation for betting or fantasy.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Just it just feels like until they make the right additions, Uh,
- 31:58Speaker 1: you know it, these kind of don't really matter that much,
- 32:01Speaker 1: Um I don't. I obviously hate the signing the Drake
- 32:03Speaker 1: and Josh team out of the out of the backfield now.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I think that that really hurts Josh's Josh Jacob's value
- 32:12Speaker 1: for fantasy. And you know, Kenyan Drake could I think
- 32:16Speaker 1: we went into last season thinking that he was gonna
- 32:18Speaker 1: be like low end RB one and obviously had taken
- 32:21Speaker 1: a huge, huge dive from there. So I'm pretty much
- 32:25Speaker 1: staying away from those two guys. I didn't hear anything
- 32:28Speaker 1: you said after you said that's funny because no one
- 32:30Speaker 1: ever gives me credit for that. Simon is shaking his head,
- 32:34Speaker 1: he knows how much that I appreciate that. You have
- 32:37Speaker 1: definitely now have longer odds to get fired. Friedman Um
- 32:42Speaker 1: work on it. How How like if you're Josh Jacobs,
- 32:46Speaker 1: how mad and frustrated are you right now? Well, one, Chad,
- 32:51Speaker 1: you should be fired for saying roots instead of routes. Okay,
- 32:54Speaker 1: that's that's number one. To Josh Jacobs, well, let's yeah,
- 32:57Speaker 1: let's let's talk about it. He has to be serious.
- 33:00Speaker 1: It's great that the team drafted him in the first
- 33:03Speaker 1: round a couple of years ago, and from the fantasy perspective,
- 33:06Speaker 1: you think, okay, a a big back from Alabama who's
- 33:09Speaker 1: twenty one years old, who was drafted in the first round.
- 33:12Speaker 1: This guy is dynasty gold. And then they never use
- 33:16Speaker 1: him as a receiver. He's good enough as a runner,
- 33:19Speaker 1: but they don't use him enough as a receiver. And
- 33:21Speaker 1: for fantasy it's it's poison for a running back not
- 33:25Speaker 1: to be used in the receiving game. So you know,
- 33:27Speaker 1: going where he is right now in fantasy drafts, middle
- 33:31Speaker 1: of round three, that's okay, but his upside is significantly capped,
- 33:35Speaker 1: and really, you do want upside when you're going for fantasy.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I should say, though, that as as bad as this
- 33:41Speaker 1: team looks, I do see some upside in John Brown
- 33:45Speaker 1: because he's available, like in the twenty second round, and
- 33:48Speaker 1: he's the like the loan professional receiver on this team.
- 33:52Speaker 1: He actually like what Nelson Aghalore was last year, and
- 33:55Speaker 1: he was a surprise fantasy asset. John Brown actually might
- 33:59Speaker 1: be the number one wide receiver on this team, and
- 34:02Speaker 1: to be able to get him as the wide receiver
- 34:04Speaker 1: seventy five when in fantasy he could finish is maybe
- 34:08Speaker 1: a low end wide receiver three. I think that's significant value.
- 34:12Speaker 1: It's not sexy, but those are the types of picks,
- 34:14Speaker 1: especially in bestball leagues, that can really pay off something.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I know you have an opinion on what the Raiders
- 34:19Speaker 1: have been doing right now. Yeah, and just adds up
- 34:24Speaker 1: chat if I ever chuckle and say that's funny, in
- 34:26Speaker 1: my mind, I'm hoping. I hope this guy jumps off
- 34:28Speaker 1: a bridge. It's never funny if someone says that's funny,
- 34:30Speaker 1: you know what I mean, it's that's funny. Um, she's
- 34:35Speaker 1: just that, yeah exactly. Um Yeah, I don't know, man,
- 34:40Speaker 1: this I feel like I just wasted two thousand dollars.
- 34:43Speaker 1: This team is now winning a Super Bowl. They got
- 34:45Speaker 1: rid of all their offensive linemen. I still love the offense,
- 34:48Speaker 1: but I don't know they're running back. Having two running
- 34:51Speaker 1: backs it's such an ancient dinosaurs sign. So it's right
- 34:54Speaker 1: up Grooting and Maddox Alley where it's like, Okay, now
- 34:57Speaker 1: you guys have two good running backs and shake ups
- 35:00Speaker 1: I think way better Thanking and Drakes, So I'm open.
- 35:04Speaker 1: It's one of those things where it's just adding assets
- 35:06Speaker 1: that are I still hope they're trading for Deshaun Watson.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I mean they have car now, they have a good
- 35:12Speaker 1: running back. They can trade to Houston, which Houston loves.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So I don't really know that. It kind of feels
- 35:18Speaker 1: like our our bet might be kind of dead there,
- 35:20Speaker 1: just because if you don't have an offensive line, you
- 35:22Speaker 1: can have all the weapons in the world. What's Derek
- 35:25Speaker 1: are gonna do? Is not how many times? So it's
- 35:26Speaker 1: just it's just been a weird offseason for someone that's
- 35:29Speaker 1: a big backer of Oakland. Well, it feels like all
- 35:32Speaker 1: of our futures bets are going by the wayside. Washington
- 35:35Speaker 1: is not working out, Las Vegas is gonna workout. We
- 35:41Speaker 1: still have the Colts in Miami. Those are fun ones
- 35:43Speaker 1: that might last. I forgot to bet the Cults. I
- 35:46Speaker 1: still got to get that. But I did get the Chargers.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I don't hate it. They they've been pretty quiet um
- 35:54Speaker 1: with everything going on. It's gonna be interesting to see
- 35:57Speaker 1: what this offense is gonna look like. But that's just
- 36:00Speaker 1: one of the teams. I it's hard for me to
- 36:03Speaker 1: have faith in them, just in the fact that Herbert
- 36:07Speaker 1: was incredible last year and he was so good that
- 36:10Speaker 1: he's not going to really sneak up on anyone of
- 36:11Speaker 1: this cup will coming season. So I got high hopes
- 36:14Speaker 1: for him. I liked them a lot, but it's just
- 36:17Speaker 1: one of the teams. I'm just not gonna They're one
- 36:19Speaker 1: of the rare teams that if they weren't the Chargers,
- 36:22Speaker 1: say this was, uh, the Eagles or the Giants, and
- 36:25Speaker 1: they had the same exact quarterback, I probably would but
- 36:27Speaker 1: a future on them. But the fact that it's the Chargers,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I'm not doing it. They're just inherently curse. So when
- 36:33Speaker 1: I when I when they make the playoffs the following year,
- 36:35Speaker 1: then I'll start betting them to win Super Bowls. All right,
- 36:39Speaker 1: I have I have one last question for each of
- 36:40Speaker 1: you that is right up your alley, and then we're
- 36:42Speaker 1: gonna get to a special opening. We're going to do
- 36:46Speaker 1: another opening with Simon Hunter. I'm not sure what we're
- 36:48Speaker 1: gonna open yet. Is it going to be a top Shot,
- 36:50Speaker 1: Is it going to be the package that Simon hunter
- 36:53Speaker 1: got from. He doesn't know who, but there's gonna be
- 36:56Speaker 1: an opening the first question, Simon, it's going into you
- 37:00Speaker 1: and I'll throw it back to the beginning. After all
- 37:02Speaker 1: this free agency, the team you most regret betting a
- 37:06Speaker 1: futuron or the team you are least likely to better
- 37:10Speaker 1: future on. Now that some of the free agency signings
- 37:12Speaker 1: have happened, it's kind of the same where it's the Colts.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I had really high hopes the cultu are going to
- 37:19Speaker 1: make a lot of moves here. They had a lot
- 37:20Speaker 1: of salary cap and I know their generative manager is
- 37:24Speaker 1: really smart and he kind of likes to wait and
- 37:26Speaker 1: see what's left over and get the best value for
- 37:28Speaker 1: like the bank for his book. But I just like
- 37:31Speaker 1: there's a lot of players there that went on discount
- 37:33Speaker 1: the certain teams that like, I don't know why the
- 37:35Speaker 1: Colts and reach out and try to fill these holes.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Um So for me, yeah, I would say it's the
- 37:41Speaker 1: Colds that it's the team. I'm not gonna, like you said,
- 37:43Speaker 1: you're gonna bet them again. I don't know. Now I
- 37:46Speaker 1: might I might hold off on that and see what
- 37:47Speaker 1: if they can add people free agency or what they
- 37:49Speaker 1: do in the draft. But ums, as far as we
- 37:52Speaker 1: go for upside at this point, Um, yeah, that that
- 37:57Speaker 1: Oakland's but feels like it's dead to right Spuddy. I
- 37:59Speaker 1: I don't know what moves are gonna make, but right
- 38:02Speaker 1: now the moves they've made are just the worst ones.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I'm a huge, huge fan of offensive line of defensive line,
- 38:07Speaker 1: and they have just made their own line a lot weaker.
- 38:10Speaker 1: So for me, that the worst one has to be s.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I mean, you're like thirty years old and you still
- 38:15Speaker 1: call the Raiders Oakland not Las Vegas. Matthew Freedman, I'm
- 38:21Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna throw one at you that is right
- 38:24Speaker 1: up your alley. With what's happened during free agency, which
- 38:29Speaker 1: team with the right draft pick is most poised to
- 38:36Speaker 1: make a move on the Super Bowl Futures board? I
- 38:43Speaker 1: would say the Panthers. And part of it is that
- 38:46Speaker 1: they haven't done anything stupid in free agency. They haven't
- 38:50Speaker 1: traded away a lot of their ability to make moves
- 38:54Speaker 1: in the draft. Uh, it's hard to know what's gonna
- 38:57Speaker 1: happen with Deshaun Watson with his legal situation, but it
- 39:00Speaker 1: if the Panthers could get a quarterback, they're right in it.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I think defensively they're going to improve. They spit all
- 39:08Speaker 1: seven of their draft picks last year on defense, and
- 39:11Speaker 1: it was markedly better last year. And it was it
- 39:13Speaker 1: was good in a bend, but don't break fashion. If
- 39:17Speaker 1: it could continue to improve, and then of course, if
- 39:20Speaker 1: they can get a quarterback, that offense could really take off.
- 39:24Speaker 1: And that offense was able to move the ball lash year,
- 39:26Speaker 1: they just weren't able to score many points. And so
- 39:29Speaker 1: with the ability to move the ball, eventually points will come.
- 39:32Speaker 1: If they can get a better passer. Man, I think
- 39:35Speaker 1: they move from you know, forty or fifty to one
- 39:38Speaker 1: in the market too closer to thirty to one. I
- 39:41Speaker 1: grabbed them before before free agency shortly after the draft
- 39:45Speaker 1: at sixty six to one. I really like the value
- 39:48Speaker 1: that I've had on them so far. I think a
- 39:50Speaker 1: lot of it is just not making mistakes in free
- 39:52Speaker 1: agency and by staying out of it and keeping their
- 39:56Speaker 1: ability to sign more players, uh, and then to make
- 39:59Speaker 1: moves in the draft. I think they are positioned. Oh
- 40:03Speaker 1: my god, I I I bet on the Panthers future
- 40:06Speaker 1: odds too. That's amazing. Simon did too. I think, yeah,
- 40:11Speaker 1: there you go. That's all in it all right, Samantha.
- 40:15Speaker 1: For you, given everything that we've talked about all of
- 40:19Speaker 1: the free agency signings, what is who is the one
- 40:22Speaker 1: player you're looking at that, given their new environment, you
- 40:27Speaker 1: think is primed to break out and would be sort
- 40:31Speaker 1: of your best sleeper pick as we speak for fantasy.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Have been so so many good moves for fantasy, Like,
- 40:39Speaker 1: I feel like there have been a lot of moves,
- 40:41Speaker 1: but not ones that have been super fantasy friendly. I
- 40:45Speaker 1: would say I one of those signings I do like
- 40:47Speaker 1: is well Fallered to the Dolphins. I think he is
- 40:49Speaker 1: a type of like stretched the field deep threat that
- 40:52Speaker 1: could really help. I mean, I think the verdict is
- 40:55Speaker 1: very still much out on to a I think he's
- 40:58Speaker 1: a very polarizing type topic right now. So it's kind
- 41:02Speaker 1: of a lot of that will depend on kind of
- 41:04Speaker 1: the progression that we see him taken to year two.
- 41:08Speaker 1: But I think that he could definitely improve this season. Obviously,
- 41:14Speaker 1: he missed a lot of last season with the PD stuff.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Him is the first game of this season, but I
- 41:19Speaker 1: think he could certainly finish in that low end wide
- 41:22Speaker 1: receiver one territory. If two is also progressive as well,
- 41:27Speaker 1: I don't mind that I feel like he was the
- 41:29Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson security blanket. And then of course he's always
- 41:33Speaker 1: getting injured and always you know, getting suspended or whatever
- 41:35Speaker 1: the case may be. And when you get him into
- 41:38Speaker 1: a new system with another young quarterback and he's a
- 41:41Speaker 1: strong weapon to get down the field, I like it.
- 41:44Speaker 1: I like it a lot. Samantha Prividi, Matthew Friedman, thank
- 41:48Speaker 1: you for joining the favorites from the Volume and podcast Network. Simon,
- 41:54Speaker 1: we gotta open some stuff, man. Alright, folks, listen, there
- 41:58Speaker 1: is nothing more excited ben opening packs. And we got
- 42:03Speaker 1: Top Shot. We got another Top Shot pack. This time,
- 42:06Speaker 1: Simon went all in. Simon, you went all in all
- 42:09Speaker 1: Star game Top Shot. I'm kind of out of the
- 42:12Speaker 1: Top Shot game now, Like I'm tired of the glitches.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm tired of not being able to so anything. I'm
- 42:17Speaker 1: tired of the beta. I'm tired of like how hard
- 42:19Speaker 1: it is to get a pack. Explain to me what
- 42:22Speaker 1: you did and what we're looking at. Well, look at
- 42:25Speaker 1: that you're just like all the other people online. And
- 42:27Speaker 1: I keep looking at the perspective that it's a free
- 42:29Speaker 1: lottery ticket and if you don't hit it, you don't
- 42:32Speaker 1: spend any money. So it's one of those are people
- 42:34Speaker 1: are complaining right now there's thre hundred thousand people in line,
- 42:37Speaker 1: and they feel like it's unfair. It's gonna keep blowing up,
- 42:40Speaker 1: but there's gonna be millions and millions of people are
- 42:41Speaker 1: gonna be in line to get these really small amount
- 42:43Speaker 1: of packs. So we've seen the market going down. I
- 42:45Speaker 1: think people are the same intuit of you. They're kind
- 42:47Speaker 1: of sick of it. They just want to pull their
- 42:49Speaker 1: money off the site. So again, these things are gonna
- 42:51Speaker 1: go in waves. That's why I'm just gonna hold my
- 42:53Speaker 1: cards because this one's probably the most expensive one I pay.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I think it was two nine for the pack. I
- 42:59Speaker 1: remember what I know. There's an All Star. There might
- 43:01Speaker 1: be seven other moments in it. So obviously we're open
- 43:03Speaker 1: for a Lebron or Steph Carry or something along those lines.
- 43:07Speaker 1: So I'm pretty pretty excited to find about open up
- 43:10Speaker 1: the pack. Let's open it. It's so exciting when you
- 43:13Speaker 1: get like the burst and the rotation. We're clicking to
- 43:17Speaker 1: reveal right now, just so people know what's happening. I'm
- 43:20Speaker 1: seeing up the first one, my guy kick number two.
- 43:30Speaker 1: You got a comment, we got a Max Cleber Jesus
- 43:37Speaker 1: not going well for you so far, Thank you cha.
- 43:42Speaker 1: We got a jump shot from Cole anth Anthony numbers
- 43:48Speaker 1: like Cole Anthony was on the path to being like
- 43:50Speaker 1: having a Rookie of the Year chance, and it's kind
- 43:52Speaker 1: of falling off the map here Team Durant All Stars. Holy,
- 44:00Speaker 1: that's a nice pool, dude. He's probably like Kauahi Leonard
- 44:05Speaker 1: from the Star Game. Always hope it's a dunk, but
- 44:08Speaker 1: I'll take a three pointer from Kauai. It's just the
- 44:10Speaker 1: name right, hoping for Lebron Common Steel. I'm a Sixers
- 44:18Speaker 1: fans I love, and you're a Sixers fans, so that's
- 44:20Speaker 1: who they headline at a Steel. But it's really a dunk. Now, Well,
- 44:25Speaker 1: I got my money back. Here we go, dude, are
- 44:28Speaker 1: you kidding me? Now? I got my money back. Dunk
- 44:33Speaker 1: my money back easy on the Kauai. Kauai is probably
- 44:35Speaker 1: going for like four or nine. But again, I'm not
- 44:38Speaker 1: gonna stell. You'll totally get it back. Lay up from
- 44:44Speaker 1: Ullo Boynzo. There's another Philly boy for you, a good
- 44:49Speaker 1: old Nova kid. Yeah. So not the best comments, but
- 44:52Speaker 1: with we'll take it with Kauai yeah, look, the Kauai
- 44:57Speaker 1: is a winner. It's just like and the market is
- 44:59Speaker 1: still sort of on fire, but it just feels like,
- 45:01Speaker 1: you know, it had that moment for about two weeks
- 45:03Speaker 1: where it's all anybody could talk about. But it was
- 45:05Speaker 1: too much broke. People shouldn't be paying sixty bucks for
- 45:08Speaker 1: like a common cart. It was like just insanity of pricing. Alright,
- 45:11Speaker 1: that's gonna wrap it up. For the favorites on the
- 45:14Speaker 1: Volume podcast Network, we had Matthew Friedman, we had Samantha Prividi,
- 45:19Speaker 1: we had Simon Hunter, my co host. You can download
