- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Right, here we are.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Lloyd Kear Carlisle.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: I've got a big intro sent to me by Roy.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: So we're in a slightly different location today as we're recording this episode from Lloyd Keir Carlisle.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: Big thank you to Roy and the team for having us down.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Brilliant local business, strong supporters of the community, and also, which we've mentioned a few months ago, won a European Dealer of the Year.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: I've had a few cars off them.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Looks like Dylan's being headlocked into maybe getting on board.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: But uh nice gaffer.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Aye, very nice.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Imagine working here, coffee on tap, dyed coke, Canima Wafers, Canama Wafers, Jaffers, Roy's the Gaffer, isn't he?
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Eh?
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Roy's the gaffer.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Holidays the gaffer.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: And we've spoken about Roy a couple of times because 20 years ago in the Cumberland Cup he tested Kieran Westwood at Brunton Park.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: And it hasn't the news and started Holiday tested Westwood and he still has it on his phone.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: But aye, not a bad one.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, so decent, decent establishment.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Very good.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Getting the ball, haven't we?
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: And if you're looking on YouTube, you'll see there's a guest with us, which we will get through some housekeeping and then we'll get onto it.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: But welcome, Colin McMenan.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Thanks very much for having us, guys.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: I've heard you're a massive fan of the pod, t-shirts and hoodies you want and that.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: I'm absolutely I'll take any of it.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: But a quick one the news you dealt last week, Skip, about your mum and dad and what's going on.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: The response, probably you've had it as well, has been phenomenal.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm not gonna go through all of them, but we got the first two that came through, I just copied and put in.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: So is it all right, Barrida?
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Of course it was, yeah.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: So this is from Jamie Watson.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Oh man, pulled on the heartstrings that Pam worked with my mum in medical records at the infirmary and sorted out her match tickets at St James's Park and a signed ball through Skip when she found it.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: It was my finding she found out it was my birthday as a burn.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: So your mother sorted you together.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: I've still got the ball knocking about now.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Made us laugh last week's episode because Clarence Akuina's signature is one of the few, still he's fully intact.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: All the bets to them all.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: So obviously, you've got tickets for them to come and watch your ball boy, ball nah, sit in sit in the stand.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Sit in the stand, I come and watch, come and see one more before the game.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: He's pumping up the number two.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Say what I had a lot more friends when I was at Newcastle and all that.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: How many balls did he get?
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Remember Owen Peterson?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Owen Peterson, he he could master Alan Shearer's signature and he made a killing.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: I know he did say killing.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: One time he's gonna take pictures of all of that.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: He was gonna get released, and he knew it.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: He went sod it.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Going out the next week.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: I'm taking pictures of all them in the shower and sell them.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: And from Jamie Watson, give Boydie all my love about his mother.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Had the same experience with my old man, had to put him in a home, but it was great for him.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: They're so well trained, and he was very, very well well looked after.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Chin up me old Ash, Ashley Gaskell.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: So that's very nice.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean I've had I've had loads of messages to be fair.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: So just anybody who's got in touch in that, and I really appreciate it.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: But aye, it's uh as I said last week, it's tough, but we'll we'll be alright.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: We'll be alright.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: I I've counted about 133.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: I'll send you them all in time.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: But on that, I put some up the other day.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: We've got a signed Color United 1617 shirt, third kit, which was never really worn.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, signed by Danny Granger, Jabo Abiere, Jamie Yeah, Mark Gillespie, good team.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Nikki Adams got the playoffs.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Um that's for him, that can go in a raffle, and Carlisle Kip man Dino give us a out the blue, yeah.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Anything we want, and he's gonna get the away strip signed by all the team.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: He said one of them which has got a pen, which will come out a lot better.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, thank you for that.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Must be appreciated.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: And another thing to pull you up on skip, it's all not just the skip show, yeah.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Roy's done one.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Uh I've got a bonnet pick with you.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Fine.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Apparently, you were an Everton supporter as a young man.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: I don't know what this shit knows, wasn't it?
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Did you or did you not have an Everton shirt?
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: No, did you or did you not?
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: But as a shirt and Ferguson in the back.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it'd be cotty.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Do you know what?
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: I had a lot of football strips.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know about Everton.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: But it was the grey one.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Remember the grey one?
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: I put my nah.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: My dad wouldn't let us my dad's mad on Liverpool, so it's Roy Lion again.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: What's the most random strip they had is again?
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Um Cameroon after 1990 World Club.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Roger Miller was the man, money.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Fortuna Citars.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you what I did, love.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Remember that Ajax away one?
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: It was a blue and it just and it just had all sorts of colours there.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you what, my brother played in goals when he was a kid because he grew before everybody else.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: You might know him, but you you'll know him.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: He had the Aberdeen goalie script, Theo Snellders.

- 5:39SPEAKER_01: Did I?
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: It was very tight.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Tattoo.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: So there we go.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: We just shouted to Roy if he didn't get that.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: He said it straight away at the sponsor, and it was very tight.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: They're all tight then though.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: But yeah, Lynn Williams, an apology.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: A hundred mile Barnburgh Castle to Edinburgh Castle, and it wasn't on stages, it was 48 hours.

- 6:02SPEAKER_01: So I've had a bit of a turn mile a couple of days going.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Ramos smooth in Salon, isn't she?
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Oh seen this on uh not sell out much.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: But I think I've won because she's cooking my steak tonight.

- 6:17SPEAKER_01: So what you're still not speaking now, but she's making your tea.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Text.

- 7:40SPEAKER_01: I know I'm putting Westlight and that on, but I'll I'll get the wall on site early doors and I'll put like UB40 on, San Fender, U2, and they're all this is good.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, all right, now I'm hitting you with S Club Juniors and shit.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Call two songs?
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: Nah, have to be an Oasis song.

- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Ah he just saw BBC and stuff, man.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: But he was gonna on Twitter, he was getting barred.

- 8:31SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Like there was no there's no much there.

- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Do you know when I went to Dumfries the other week on the lash?
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: That was the pub that was shot, of course.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: Nah, you said Dumfries was decent, didn't you?
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: Aye, Imperial.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Nah, it's deep.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Imperial's cheap.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Well, that'd be fine.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: That's why it works again.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: No, it's I went in the cali for one at 10 o'clock.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: Shock.

- 9:08SPEAKER_01: It was good.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Why don't we go then?
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I'll come in meetings, but it's more the greatest.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: Hey, he's saying that why did we go?
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: He still hasn't had his reply.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: I'm still not in.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: We need that stand by tonight.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: Because I've got you know what I'll do?
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: I'll take the kids out, I'll go to the park, I'll get some lunch.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: I'll just do it.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Did you know there's a dune coming?
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: No.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: Oh he's not coming, is he?
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: I'm telling you now, he's not coming.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: He is coming, he's not I've broken he is coming.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: He is you're bang under now.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: But anyway, it's legion for your matter.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: Episode 27.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: Right, welcome, Colin.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: It was a former club.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: It's gonna take a while.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Newcastle United, Livingston, Shrewsbury, Gretna in the Glory Days, the Wedge I mean.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Dundee, Ross County, the famous Celtic Nation, Wedge again, and Stenhausmuir.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: And you have recently been part of Peter Murphy's coach and staff, the Queen of the South.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: So, 533 games, 250 goals.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Good goal on that, mate.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: For a right back, I think it's 254 goals.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: 250.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: I tell everybody it's 250 goals.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: He's getting half stake of what they've done you out of, who's done yet?
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: Don't know.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Um somebody told me that.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: How many hat-tricks?
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Six, I think.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Have you?
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Did you?
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Shearer hasn't got a Premier League cap trick.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: I did he got it.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Or five against Chef Well.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: I've missed I've misheard that thing.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: And he scored a hat-trick against Leicester when they come from he's got loads of people who's told you that load of shit.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, I didn't get a Premier League hat.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, so we'll touch on your career throughout and various stories through.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: We'll keep coming back to it.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: But you started as a young lad from Dumfries at Annan.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: And then your castle came in for you, and that's when you met a man then.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: So Annan school boys or something.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: No, no, but it played in friendly, wasn't it?
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: No, I know I it's part of that friendly.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: I played for Annan under eighteens in the Cala League.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: So Holtley was at working to say Skinner was it?
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Was it North Bank?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: So we played in that league, and then I just got into Annan's first team, the Eastern Scotland League.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: And somehow, don't know how, ended up at Newcastle.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Not knowing who watched it.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: No idea.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Did you and another lad come?
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Ryan McGumpfrey.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Right back.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was a right back.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: He went six months before me.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Um by all accounts they wanted to sign me, they came to watch me, but I'd went on holiday with the mates, as I did, because I was a bit a lad.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Um I went away.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: And then they they come and get me six months later, Shrews it.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: We um played against each other, you know.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: Goed further on.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: Shrewsbury against Carlisle, I scored and you scored.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: K2?
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: No.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: The uh one before, no Joe Hart, Joe Hart saved my pen.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: I got a retake.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: You scored to equalize, and you've won 2-1 down there.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: And then up here it was 2-2 and Joe Hart saved my pen again.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Just what a volley passed the north first minute.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: No, there's one on YouTube and I miss the biggest set in the world.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: Which the 2-2 one likes to redo yellow than I so did he's won a league?
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I won the league, I did score against Joe.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: Going on Joe Hart.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: He was good at the World Cup.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: He said, My mates, do you know Sam Aston?
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: So Sam is good mates with them, but he says like Joe's like the most serious person ever, or a lunatic.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: I go lunatic.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: He's a lunatic.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: So where we stayed in Shrewsbury, we'd come out of the dancing or we all know what the dancing is, they might not know what a dance is like a nightclub.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: You'd come out of a nightclub and he would just run and just start jumping on cars every roof.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: And you'd be like, What the fuck are you doing?
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: And like get arrested.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: And I stayed next to the police station, so they'd let him out at like four in the morning.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just come out and do your three hours.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: And you were like, mate, what are you doing?
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Like, you're getting your big move.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: He was going to go to Everton at Man City, and they're like, What are you jumping on car to car for?
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: So I lunatic but totally on it all the time.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: I remember Cole Hawley took the shot in that game like a volley.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: And not only has Hart saved it, but instead of parrying it, he's tucked it in.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: He's 19.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: And I went pfft.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Because he linked every week, wasn't he?
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Every week completely, and you'll know who's a who's a goalie coach who you made Carlisle.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: I've got a story about it.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: I might as well tell it now.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Timm's and Timmins.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: He was Carl goalie coach two days a week.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: He was Shrewsbury goalie coach two days a week.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: How have I missed two pens?
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Because he's in Hart's.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: He's telling me Hart's week on his left.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: So I've went his left.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Hart's saved it.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: No way.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: We're on his right now.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: I've went his right and looked at Timm's.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: I went, Done you twice.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Goalkeeper's union.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Goalkeepers union.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: So he's done it twice.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Tim will love Joe.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, but I think he thought it was going to be his agent, or something, didn't he?
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: To be fair, I messaged Joe because I thought he was in New York when I was over in New York for the World Cup.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: And I messaged him thinking, Oh, you're in New York, I'll meet you for a beer.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: He went, nah, I'm in Salford, mate.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: It's all fake and behind it.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: And they just flew them out for the BBC went over for the BBC.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: I threw it out, didn't he?
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: BBC had the fake background.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: I'm like, come out and meet you for a beer or a coffee or something.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: He's like, mate, I'm in Salford.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: So that's why they kept saying we'll we'll do it on the Hudson when Rooney lost his bet, we're never doing it until like later on.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Because they were I knew I knew I knew they were flying people out of BBC, but I thought then three were there.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: In Salford.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: But weren't the weren't the Roy Keane and all that, they were there, weren't they?
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: They were there all the time.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: They were there all the way through.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: So Nick Castle, who was the manager?
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: Bob Rostom.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Oh did he meet you the one you signed in that?
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was assigned there.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: Because usually when young'uns sign, managers leave it to youth teams and that does it.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: So he was there.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: So like when I went, this is a special guy you're talking about.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm saying.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: I went down on the Monday morning.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: Reserves had a game the Monday night.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Remember the reserve games or a Monday night?
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: I went down the Monday morning.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: So it was a case of reserves Monday there.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: It was the Tuesday night, probably.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Um you're in with the first team of this, so I was straight in with the first team.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: And who was that?
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Shearer, Dyer, Gary Speed, all these boys, Rob Lee.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Who spoke to you first?
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: Sheena.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Did he?
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Nah, he came straight up to me and wished me well.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: And he went, I heard you're a psychica.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: Because he was sound him, you know.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Well, do you care stories?
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: He wasn't.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: He was.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: Everyone I've spoken to since he was top man.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: He was just had that order about him, didn't he?
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Where like he just ran the club basically.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was in charge of everything.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: And then I mean everything.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: So like I went the week before Christmas and this was a Monday.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: So the Tuesday was Christmas night out.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: You remember that night?
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Tuesday.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: So they were doing their warm down.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, right, what's happening?
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: They're like, no, you're coming your Christmas night out.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, no, I've been out in Dumfries on the Saturday night, and then on Tuesday night I was on the Christmas night out with Sheeda.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Remember Kevin Gallagher?
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Ah, Kevin Gallagher.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: He was a lunatic.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: He was in real money.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Was he?
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: And we're in Baja, and it's just like bottles of champagne getting flung about.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Kevin Gallagher slipped me 400 quid.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Like, make sure you're alright tonight.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like coming with it home.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: I've made it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: I've made it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: But that's the uh you I was only on trial.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: We spoke about that.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: So we've all said like one minute you're at school, and the next minute I was sat getting the like getting the slips and the balls from Chris Waddle, Chris Woods, Paul Stewart, and surreal isn't it.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: I was on championship manager, football manager, signing them a week earlier.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: So you're like playing for Anna and the next thing you apprentice joiner.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: Next thing you get in vodka Red Bulls for Kevin Gallagher.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, it was unreal.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Gary Speed, Ledge.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Ledge.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Um he was one of the nicest boys you'll meet as well, to be fair.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Because when I first went down there, I'd never done the gym in my life.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: He was how to be a professional footballer.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: The boys are doing maybe 60k, and they're warm-up reps.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: I couldn't do the bar.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Like I was like, oh my god, never I've never been in a gym in my life.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Do you know how I know Newcastle players were top level?
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Compared to the Sun.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: So Sunderland must have just had spirit.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: Because all the Sunderland people are looked up doing that.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: They were getting us on the drink because they didn't want us coming through.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: Do you know?
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: Like he was on about the gym there, right?
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: So I remember when we were first year YTS and Paul Winspur.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: So we all have to do temple as course.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Temple of so like you like Gary Cole, Brian Kerr, 101010, Gorley and all that got to me.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: I was just hung there, couldn't do one.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: Put as a hang bar.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: He was going do it.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Then I was like, I can't pull myself up and do one.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: I couldn't do one.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: He was disgusted in this.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Did he not end up Beckham's personal trainer?
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Personal trainer, didn't he?
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Took him over there.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: He was a everywhere, wasn't he?
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Beckham ended up taking him everywhere as his personal trainer.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: That's fine.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: You can imagine that though, can you?
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: I remember him taking us into the driver behind Chesley Street.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: I remember that.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Ah dearie God.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: What uh character building?
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: That's not.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: What what did you think on the pitch?
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Do you think I'm up my depth?
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, did you alright?
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: Um the first week with the first team I actually felt okay.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: It wasn't until I got to the reserve boys.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: I I'm probably talking a bit of nonsense, but I felt like their standard of training was ridiculous.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: It's Tommy Craig, wasn't it?
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Tommy Craig just right on you all the time.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: When you're in the first eleven, like on a Thursday, I'll go out on you.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go easy today.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: Whereas the lads are so Tommy Craig's good coach.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: I found I found out really quickly I didn't need to be as good as Alan Shearer.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I need to be as good as James Coppinger.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Cops was a joke.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: But it was unbelievable.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: And you're like, wait, I'm nowhere near Shearer.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: I need to get close to cops and try to be as good as James Copper.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: I'd love to get Cops on because how did he go from Newcastle United to Exit a City very quickly?
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: It was a mad one, that wasn't it?
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Because he'd not long made his debut against Tottenham, remember?
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: But you know, do you know when you used to play like 11 against 11?
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: He stood out then.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: So Jamie Cop Jamie isn't it?
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: James Coppinger.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: James Coppinger.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: He's played like 500 games for Doncaster.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's probably the best ever player of Valley.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: And he was quality.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: I was very good.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: So did you know so you as you said there about Sheera, you you didn't have in your head I'm gonna be this sort of kid who comes in and scores with Galli.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: You're just like this is gonna be part of my development and be a career down the line.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I need to look look up to James Coppinger.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: I need to get where he is or Sholami O'Brien.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: I need to get where they are.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Because they'll tell you when I first came in, oh my god, I was hopeless.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: You didn't score.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: I was still scoring.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Well, I still seeing a possession, you didn't want to be anywhere near me.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Well do I tell the story about Kev Kyle?
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: That's the hard part, innit?
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: Football.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Seeing these are small-sided games, everybody would want me on their team.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: Peter Reid said to me, You need to calm down.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: I was like, nah, Kev Kyle's not on my team, I don't want him on my team position.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: He went, waitless Saturday, you want him.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Next thing I'm pinging it, and he's making my ball look like better because he's just bringing it down.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: I went, it it takes everything to make a team.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: So me and Kev Kyle came through and feet and gallery youth team.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like so our regional team it was me and Kev up front.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: So for me, Kev was a remote.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, he was like things down for you.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Did he do what you thought did you think he would go on and do that?
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: No, because when he killed Sunland, I'm not being funny.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Where does someone get him from?
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: He was he was at Stranroy Airport.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know who he's playing for.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: He was playing for a team in air.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Was it Bagger?
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: Air Boswell or something they were called.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: It was kind of low-level.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: Peter always played six foot four or five strikers, didn't he?
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: So he had Neil Quinn, he had Danny Diccio.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: Danny Diccio was always injured.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: So Kev got in next in line.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: Neil Quinn worked with him all the time.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Fair play to Kev like because one minute he was crap in possession.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: Next thing he's chipping keepers and that.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: He ragged all the reserves, didn't he?
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: Told him that, on you?
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: I can remember at Kingston Park on that Monday night.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Absolutely tore us to bit.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Didn't he was better than Shorler?
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: I think Shola was a bit lucky with the career he had me.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: If I'm honest.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: When I first came in, I'm pretty sure I got told Shola was getting flung out of the club.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Well, I've told you.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: He did centre half at one game.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Mate, he played one week he was unstoppable.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: The next he was horrendous.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: And I remember we had a youth team game and he was about to play centre half against Rex under 19th.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: And he just got put on the bench with the first team the same day against Chelsea.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: Got on, had a fight with Dennis Wise the next thing he's on the back of one.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: I'd love to have that paper, isn't it?
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Just in the right moment at the time, I don't know.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: And then he's known then.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: He's in Roddy.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: Ah, what was my man like then?
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: But I was no buttons he carried a bit of timber.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: The like left and right foot, an absolute joke.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Absolute joke.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: And I've still good mates with Brian Kerr.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And Kerse will still say to this day that skips the best play for it, yeah.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: I I I played against Kerr in midfield, and you knew Kerr's was gonna go all I'd rather play against you because I know I'm not gonna get everywhere, wouldn't I?
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna be I'll close you down, you'll pass it sideways, or you'll go in behind, that's up with the defenders to do it.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: I'll do my job.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Kerr would go, go, go, go into life.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Non stop as well.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: How are man?
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: He's quality player.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: I feel I'm sorry for our reserve team because I'm we had so many good midfielders and then if somebody dropped down, say Basidas dropped down, one of them would always get pushed to the right.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Him in right midfield, or you've got Brian Care at right midfield, or Jimmy McLean at right.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: He never played anywhere.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Just played with Greeny as well.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: So there was always one that would miss out because of like a Basidas or a Cunha or Gavalan or dropping down.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: That was my decision to leave at the time as well for Sunderland Barnesley for Barnsley because I was 20 and your year was starting to come through, and there's some good midfielders.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, if I don't go to Barnsley, there was a tie-up with McWadsworth with Barnsley, and I went, he'll send them uh so I'll get there before they they get there.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: But I so make any appearances get in squads.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: I got it, I got I travelled for the yeah.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Remember the inter Total Cup?
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: I got called back early.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: I thought, oh I've made it here because Ryan never Gary Caldwell never, but me, Kersey, and Steve O did.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Stephen I was like, I'm in here, and then they signed me with me.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: So I just got patched fade again.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Well it's I was totally having a I was going to Barnesy and Peter Reed went, I wish I could have kept you, but the the day I left I had a beer with Peter Reed and my replacement was there, Claudio Reina.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: So you're like you don't get the stage.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: You don't think is Bellamy was probably the best thing that happened to me at Newcastle.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: He was I loved him.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Did you go on a right at the board?
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: I got a brilliant guy.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: I loved him.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: People think he's not but what a guy and what a trainer, like an advice.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: And I remember we played Whitley Bay in the what's it called?
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: The not like the Northumberland Cup, yeah.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: Pitch was unplayable, and they beat us because of the pitch.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: And and I think it was maybe Mick Wash having the right ghost, and he stuck up for us and he was like, What do you expect on there?
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: Can't play the football you want him to play.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: And he was he always had our back, like he was good that way.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: Still can't be getting beer with it.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: We went we actually went to my Bay Newcastle.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: And uh me and Ryan McGuffey came home, he done freeze to get air passport, obviously went out on a lash.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Woke up in the Sunday morning, my mum's wake me up.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: You know, supposed to be the airport, and I'm like, but McGuffey's not even phoned me.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: Oh my god me.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: We're bombed down there.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: Phone said we broke down, we hadn't we're bombing it down.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: Everybody's on the plane waiting for us.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: We got up on the plane, we're just walking up and there's one seat, so it's two seats here, one seat here, there's one seat here, and I'm beside Gary Speed.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: I'm like, so I'm sitting down beside Gary Speed, and Speedo just went, Good night.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And Bellers just sitting here, Bellers just went, leave the boy alone.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: This had a good night in the center.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: But then it all kicked off from my bear as well.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: We they all got caught somewhere they shouldn't have been.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh, I'd probably be in that same place.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: That's alright, being a son, I'm probably weren't recognised.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: To be fair, because I wasn't allowed to take my luggage on because we were straight on in the turnaround, Bellamy gave me all his gear, all his Prada, and it was Prada.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: I used to go up when we were.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: And he used to go here, take this, take this.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Just don't worry about it.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: So he was alright, I mean, good lad, very good lad.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: Then I played against him when he was at Celtic.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: So he was went up to get his top after the game.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Livingston had just gone into administration.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Bell is like, why why why did they know for me?
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: How'd they give him a loan?
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: It's like he's a massive famous man.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Bell was just like, I don't give him alone, so I've still got his top because he used to cut his call.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: Well uh, he went top Celtic.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: He was on real.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: When they gave him eyebrows when you just come inside and just duel printing them.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Fuck on her.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: Was he on loan?
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, I think so, yeah.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: Ah, he done said something, didn't he?
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: He went, it was a big game for his teammate.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Went, are you up for it?
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Like, are you gonna he went?
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Listen, man, I'm gonna go past the joiner, I'm gonna make the plumber, and I'm gonna put it past the uh bin man.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: He went, I'm asked.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: I think he got three or four.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: So what what was the decision to uh what age?
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: So what age did you join?
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: I would have been 19, just turning 20, and I left it just turning 22.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: To Livingston.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: Oh Livingston, so I left 22 to go to Livingston.

- 26:03SPEAKER_01: I was at I was at the bottom of the left because you used to get the left.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: That's right, aye.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: But it was all one is up, one down.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: But Mick Wadsworth loved me.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: That's what I was is that the tie up with this rosebury on the living stenny.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: So Mick left before us, so I was supposed to Mick left to go to Southampton.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh I'll try you did aye.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: And Newcastle offered me a three-year contract.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: And Mick said, don't sign that, I'm gonna take you to Southampton.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: I was like, well don't go.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: I think he lasted 40 days.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: Uh didn't he?
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: Was he manager?
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: No, assistant then to oh I can't remember his name.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: But I think you last was it Grey, something Grey?
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Aye, Stuart Grey Grey.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: Stuart Grey lasted 40 days, yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: And I turned down a three-year contract.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: So the three-year contract, you're still not saying you're getting in the team, but you're on security.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: So like I've told you having a Adrian Heath left, he went, Don't worry.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: When I go, I'm taking you with us.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: Went to Chef Yo, went, yeah, we can.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: Didn't ring us.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Came back six months later because he got the sack.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: I went, he went, you're right, let me win.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Hi, where were ye?
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: He went, No, I just didn't think it was right for you.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: So then I had the chance, he he took over at Old'em.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I played against his oldem team.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: So I went down to Oldham with two, three months left to the state.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: Harold go?
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: Uh Loider went as well, didn't he?
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Loydom was there, stadium.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: So the stadium loyder.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: Get a sleep nobody.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: And then it was uh was it ITV digital or something?
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, collapsed, collapsed, and the money fell out and they were off for me peanuts.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I can't stay in Manchester on this money.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: So I had to come back up the road and sign for Livingston.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: And that was Scottish Prem.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they just finished up in the Scottish Premier.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: So that's a great move for you, isn't it?
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: It was at the time, huh?
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: Who's at Livingston then?
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Stuart Lovell, um Alan Main, Frank Lee Makle had a decent Lee Makle, Jory Makle.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Was that his debut for Newcastle?
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Ah no, my first date, Livingston.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: So I've come in my Newcastle bag.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: Didn't have a living, came in with my Newcastle bag, and he just grabbed it and he launched it with the change of Sunderland.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Sunderland fan?
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Oh welcome to Livingston.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: He's just launched.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: We should have reverse careers, mate.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: I should play for Newcastle.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: I think he won a Premier League with Blackburn as well.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: I did I did he?
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: He's on the bench against Liverpool.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: You got a you got a you got a he got a medal?
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: No, but it was some really good boys, and then Butner Bryan and David Martinamy signed the same day as me.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: So it was kind of a good call.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, some names in the past.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: I will get on to Livingston.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: First, Carl United.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: Have you been having a little look at them or not?
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: What catching up with them?
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: What from the outside perspective?
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: Because you've been a Queen of the South, so you're not.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: How did we look at them last year?
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: Um, because obviously we were hoping that they go up.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: But then it soon materialised that they were only going to win a league.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: From an outside perspective, what do you think the last couple of years, Carl?
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: I think they're a huge club.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: Um I don't think there is I don't think people realise how big they are.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: Until you're here.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: Until you're they're here or thereabouts.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Obviously they've had two teams that were unreal last year that just totally blew everybody away.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: But it makes it a bigger year this year, like massive.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: Kinda I've seen a wee bit of the game that they played against Queen of the South not that long ago.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: And you couldn't really judge them on that.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: Have you been close to a move to Carlisle?
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: And he ever come up?
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: When I was with Gretner, I was out in Dublin for a Christmas night out, and I got stitched up by big Derek Townsley, or them, Roddy Collins pulled me, like threatened me and said that I've can try to sign you for Carlisle and you knock me back, and I was just like, no, never.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: And he's like, ah, I've been on you anyway.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: So I don't have been down that road.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: I thought when I was going to Newcastle, there was talk about Carlisle and I there was talk that I'd an offer on a table, but you would think if Newcastle have seen you and because Carlisle should have seen it.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: As soon as I'd had Newcastle in my head, I was neat.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: But that was what yeah, did you go to Newcastle again?
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: 2000 and 2000.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that would have been shambles of Carlisle.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it would have been, yeah.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: Um Roddy's in the news again, isn't he?
- 29:57SPEAKER_01: Nah, him and James McClain having the right go on there.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: Ah, he's kicking off on it.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: It's a bit of a dodgy one, isn't it?
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: James McClain won't back down and he's come off uh social media put a post out of the day.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Saying he's taking the time off, aye.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: Is he still a dairy player or not?
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: Technically, I think so.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: So would them.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: Talking about football films the other day, what's your favourite football film?
- 30:19SPEAKER_01: Escape the Victory, it's got to be or not.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Escape the Victory.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: I'm still going goal, I think.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Me and Me Machine.

- 30:42SPEAKER_01: I love your life in man.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: Um my father was in one, the captain's tale.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: So only our older audience will know this.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: Captain's Tale was about West Auckland.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: That'll be winning the world first World Cup.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Guess who was in it though?
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Dennis Waterman, Minder.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: Tim Healy, Dennis.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Richard Griffiths.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: That's in Rumpel of the Bailey.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: And uh can't remember he was a chef and something.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: Anyway, my dad's on uh on the on the the trailer for it.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: My dad skins a couple and puts it out, but his acting's horrendous.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Got like appeal for a pen like that.

- 35:46SPEAKER_01: No.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Right, he's just gonna start guessing.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: So three more guesses.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: No, not in Forest.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: Not like teams like that, is that so he's managed Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Leeds, West Brom and Palace.

- 36:15SPEAKER_01: Did they?
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: Done one at Palace.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: Has he done now?
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: Is that him?
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Who's number two?
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: Sammy Lee.

- 36:30SPEAKER_01: He said, Listen, I'm gonna sign this player if this other deal falls through.
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: Jeff would have got 400 grand if this deal went through.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: And that night he's having lunch.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: Didn't have a Sam.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: Sam's gone, look at him, still play him, fit as fuck, could still play.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: See you in the morning, Jeff.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: He didn't.

- 36:46SPEAKER_01: No.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: Got it.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: This is a funny one.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: One more question.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: Which player was famously unveiled by Man United in 2018 of him playing the piano in Amsterdam by him playing the piano 2018.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Big hitter.

- 37:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, he's not been there?
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: Eight years ago, man.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: Eight years ago.
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but he signed and then went away in that, didn't he?
- 37:13unknown: No.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: I think he's thinking of it doesn't matter.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Eight years ago.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: Which player was famously unveiled by Manu in 2018 have him playing the piano.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: No, Harry Maguire or something.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: Sanchez.
- 37:27SPEAKER_01: That's what I mean.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: Don't know where I get the O from.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: See what I meant?
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: You went who?
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking Sancho hasn't been there right here.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: You got anything for us this week or not?
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: Nah.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: No, no, I've been busy this week.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: You got it.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: Gip, you got a question for us?
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Uh I have.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: If there's any younger viewers or listeners who'll think I'm I'm uh a bit mad, but at 17 years old, who would you think was better?
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: Jamal or Michael Owen?
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: Better or who are having the team?
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I know your males won everything.
- 38:05SPEAKER_01: I'd have Michael Rowan, but I think players for Spain, but Michael Owen at 17 was just I mean, he won how old was he won the Ballon d'Or?
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: But what about when the squad at Hack trick at Newcastle?
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: At Newcastle and the World Cup.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: And how old was he against Argentina?
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: 17?
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: 17.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: Listen, I've said this five times.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: See the game against Argentina?
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: Have you seen the defending?
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: Honestly, please.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: And Michael Owens, like, when he was that age, was like unbelievable.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: But the defending back then was just everybody talks about Michael Owens' pace.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: His pace has got nothing to do with that goal against Argentina.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: Do the Argentina defenders fall over their own feet turning down the wrong way?
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: I thought he was offside because I didn't see any defenders and then he's running at the back.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: What chance you got you?
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: Defenders are sitting on the edge of the box.
- 38:49SPEAKER_01: Not lost the name's a joke.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: But Lamal, Lamal's going to World Cups and like the best teams in the world, having to like double up on him, he's still getting it.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: He didn't do that well in the World Cup.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: See, I'm gonna get ridiculed.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna get ridiculed now.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: But in the World Cup, like weren't Argentina one of the best teams in the world, no?
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: Or were they not?
- 39:06SPEAKER_01: I'm just asking at the time.
- 39:07SPEAKER_01: You're saying he's playing against the Yamal's playing against the best teams.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: Is Argentina not one of the best teams at that time?
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: That's all.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, the Mike's not at the Prem.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Ah, yeah, I know that, but I just it's hard to compare, innit?
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: It is just because you do look at that defending now.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: If if a team done that defending now, it's like the other social media be like I'm gonna have to go again or something.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: I've not changed my mind though.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: We need to put it up, we'll put it in.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: It still annoys me about Michael Owners as well.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: We went down to play Newcastle with Gretna in a training game because Michael Owen's come back for injury.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: Who's the manager?
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: Glenn, what's his name?
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: Glenn Roder.
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: Glenn Roder was a matcher, and it was blown a gale, and we've won the toss and turn those round.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: Owen was only playing 45 when Glenn Roders came sprinting on the pitch and said to the referee, turn them back round.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, because they and we were like, nah.
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: And like, turn them back round.
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: So we actually had to turn back around because Glenn's because of him, or because of Michael Owen.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: That happens.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: I played them being closed doors game, they're not allowed to touch certain people.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: So Michael Own played 45 with the wind, like love in life.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: You're uh getting battered.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: It's good at Newcastle though, because like if when when us residues for training with the first team, you'd have to be careful against it.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: But Gary Colin and Stevie Coller didn't care.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: Just was flew it full on.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: Could they ever get back in the door?
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: I think they just got on with it.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Like that's just the way the way they stand out, though.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: They were loved though.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they were their attitude was f second to none.
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: Can I be controversial?
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: They were fucking brutal on the ball, weren't they?
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Especially Gary.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: Gary wasn't guys.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: The only thing was that.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: I know I didn't get the appreciation.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: I like them.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: Use I've seen them close, but I feel from watching them, he probably didn't think oh he was brilliant on the ball.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: But he used always looking through them, played right back as well and centre back, but he had that stupid point that would point his finger at everybody, but it'd be zinged, didn't he?
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Stevie had a great career as well, didn't he?
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Burnley promotions, Sunland, Sunland promotions, Liffelese, I spunly great, honestly, great, great career.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: And Gary as well.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: Great career.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: But you always say they were built different, weren't they?
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: Oh they were just uh they were just they were ready for an apprenticeship at 10, weren't they?
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: They knew well they knew from day one where they wanted to get to.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: Well they they weren't in your digs, were they?
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: Um no.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: Feels to me they were.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: No, Stevie was.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: Stevie wasn't.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: I thought they might have already, their dad might have put in place that they were like not in the growth.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: Gary and Cursey would be the growth.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: No, I came straight down here from first team areas.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: And I went down, I stayed with I McGuffin then at the time.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: Where'd you live?
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: Gosworth.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh, uh with Dave McMahon.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: Dave McMahon, brutal European champion though, under 16.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: Scored a winner for Ireland with Nighter.
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: Well, Knight he was a year older.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: You had some bad players, he was like good lads, broadbent.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: And then I said Rick Kersey for a ban and Bradley.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: There's one lad, Scottish right back, Barrett.
- 41:57SPEAKER_01: He was kept on an extra year to do impressions at the party.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, he'd done a good deal.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: He done have Nick Jagger, it was unreal.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: I sat with him at college.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: So Livingston, you went up there and did your well, your goal record there.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: How's it so how does that work?
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: You get the goals for Livingston and then you get a move to Shrewsbury.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: It was uh I just done okay.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: I put Livingston in the Premier League and in and out of the team because back then you had the under 21 rule, you had to have two under 21s, so I was in, and because you were a striker, you always got on.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: Always got on.
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: So I got loads of game time, um, scored a few goals, and then Paul Lambert was coming in to Livingston as manager.
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: I didn't do that managed.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was his first manager's job.
- 42:40SPEAKER_00: And I just heard these stories about him no being the best.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: Didn't he really like strikers and and Mick had been on the phone, Mick had been on the phone at shit?
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: Mick constantly.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: So was Snodgrass there?
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: I was there with Snoddy, yeah.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: Snoddy, Dorans.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: Dorins, Grand On's.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: Snoddy was stand out a mile at all, not there.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, do they stand out a mile?
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: No, Snoddy especially no.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: Did he not?
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: No my god, he was mild.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: No.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: Technically unreal, but heavy, late all the time.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: Say Duke Street Snoddy.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: Like Richard Goff came in his manager, and Richard Goff was that old school fashioned where suiters.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, totally brown shoes and everybody for training.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: That's just Snoddy, a wee boy for the Duke Street and all that.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: Like he was like, I've not got a suit.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: You buy your suit, you borrow a suit, you go and get one for a second hand shop.
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: So remember back in the day you used to get a tag on your suit cut off.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: Snoddy first came in with his suit when he's still a decent bonic.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: I was at Nabifer with him last year, he was top man, top man.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: He went from this to that.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: So he did.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: I was tr I was at Dundee when he was leaving Livingston, trying to get me signed for Dundee and Lee Matthews.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: Remember Lee?
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Lee, I know Lee.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: Lee got too that's That's why they were there, but the the agents the agents do.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: So Lee got a hold of him because Lee came up to play for Livingston's big striker.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: And uh he got a hold of him.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: And he said, No, you're I'm taking your leads on tile.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, mate, you're not good enough.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: Come on, play two years in Dundee.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: Five years later, it's probably long enough.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: Color looked at him.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: I remember Carla looked at him when I was there.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: Great lad.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: Some grey though, didn't he?
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: Well, as I told you, it's not he I played against him, we're two footing each other, and that and then that day I was he was loud as out, and I went, Oh, I'm with me last like a four-day break.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: And she went, he's loud.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: And I went, I know next thing he went, Chris, come and join her.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: Gentleman, top man for four days, like good lad, really good lad, good player.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Love the boy as well.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Um so he got you down to so that's where Shrewsbury went down.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: Sam Aceden, Joe Hart, Tolly middle.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: Tolly, dream, do you meet Tolly?
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Aye.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: You lived in Shrewsbury.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: I loved it.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: I love Shrewsbury.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: Beautiful.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go down because obviously Gath Cowen, who's a manager now, yeah.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: He played with his I'm gonna go down and Dave Edwards played.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Dave's he's just ex-Wolves, yeah.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: So Dave, he's down there as well.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: So I've said I'm gonna go down for a weekend, have a beer with them all.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: I say we we played each other a few times, but I had that there, Joe Hart, the pen stories, Dave Timmins.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: So where did he go from choose by Joe Hart then?
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: I think they signed Schmeichel in the same week.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Uh no, they said the oh no, they had Schmeichel in.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: It was an Italian, I'm sure they signed.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: Um, but I remember him coming to my flat saying I've been offered this from Everton, this with Man City, and Man City weren't me much uh much at the time.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: And Chris Woods was at Everton, and he loved Chris Woods.
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: I'm like, get yourself at Everton, mate.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: Like, that's a great club to go to and you'll dingley because he used to always ask me about Newcastle and the levels, and I'm like, get yourself Everton.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Now I signed for Man City and they became the richest club in the world.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: So good move.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Good choice.
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: Any characters down there?
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: Who was it?
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: Mossy.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: I left that I meant he was always at nights out.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Is it Darren Moss?
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: Darren Moss, fullback, couldn't let it go.
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: Think he moved club, he couldn't let it go, just kept going back to nice things sacrificed his Christmas dude to go to Luke Rogers as well.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: I look Luke Rogers would always beat our nights out, but we had a boy, yeah, Kevin Sharp.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, left back.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Sharp, just an absolute lunatic.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: Is he?
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: Um like the quiet lunatic 18-year-old, him as a horror left Leeds and went or was left somewhere and went France.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: France and they came back and he always looked straight laced now.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: The Auxerre Academies the famous Auxerre Academy, so then he like he ended up rooming McCantana at some point as well.
- 46:34SPEAKER_00: So there's but he would just one of those eyes didn't change, just get drunk and then just pick up a pint, just launch it across a pub.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: Good idea.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: See the dangerous ones at the aisle.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: Well, we we went a Christmas night out coming back to Birmingham, and Sharpie phoned the manager saying that Joe had been done for drugs.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: And like you could have said anybody, Gary Peters.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, anybody, you could have said it but anybody, Gary Peters would not have cared less.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: Soon as he said Joe Hart had been done for drugs, it was like every single one of you get to the club right now, and Sharpie's like, I'm st I'm I'm telling you, Gaffer, I tried to get him away for it, but he was just he was blowing everything up his nose, it's carnage, he's been arrested.
- 47:14SPEAKER_00: A fucking hospital.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: Gary Peters is losing his rag.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: That's a little project, isn't it?
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: He was thinking, oh no, we need to be depth in the how are we gonna get home?
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: You were there with Stu Nicholson?
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: No, uh he said Gary Peters.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: So my mate, Stu Nicholson, was from at West Brom, he went on loan, super kid, went on loan to Shrewsbury, fancied a holiday, told Shrewsbury he was back at West Brom doing rehab, told West Brom he was still at Shrewsby, got off of it.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: Gary Peters was the guy.
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: I listened to Hope on your podcast and Holt he talking about how the chairman said tell me to watch them in a game and yeah, that he said that after that game I want to go and get you.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: And I'm thinking I sat and watched him going, I was a fucking triker for Shrewsbury that day.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: He must have been quickly.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: I must have been brutal.
- 47:55SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I fucking fucking flip.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: We've got a little bit they've got four games into the season, he's wanting rid of it.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: We're going on to Clown Watch quickly.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: Go on.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: Who?
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: It's been quiet this week, isn't it?
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: I think York have still got to get it a second uh still can't get my head round that.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: Or the uh FIFA boy.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: Um Fun Heroes.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: You know these kind of people, right?
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say I just don't get what he's trying to what is it he's trying to do?
- 48:20SPEAKER_01: He well he was trying to sell it off and like make billions and billions and billions and make it like a private so they could do what they wanted with it.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: But he's kind of like got that aura of I'm gonna say it, John Nixon at Carlisle United.
- 48:33SPEAKER_01: When everyone's against you, they still don't know, they're like Teflon, they don't realise, they just pile one, you're like, no, try this, and they won't try it, they just keep going down that that rabbit hole, and they're like everyone wants them to quit.
- 48:45SPEAKER_01: And he's like, nah, I'm not going anywhere, but they're already selling off like the the hydration brakes and all that, the the commercials and that wouldn't they in America?
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: Like you can kind of see it going that way a wee bit already, can't you?
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: Like the big kind of tournaments, right?
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: We need we need a little bit on this Gretna and Celtic Nation.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: So Dylan's only learned about Celtic Nation since he's been here.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: But Gretna first, you went in the throwing money at it, we're gonna get th right through the leagues with Brooks Mileson.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he'd come to Carlisle and pick me, other players and offer us treble our wages at Carlisle, four-year deals, Chrysler Cause.
- 49:21SPEAKER_01: We'd go out on a Saturday night, we'd just beat like Nottingham Forest, user just beat Sterling, and you're pulling up in the club.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, man, what's going on?
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: No, well, again, it was Mick, Mick Wadsworth.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: So when I got you are Mix Love Children, I was our boys, won't I?
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I just loved to be.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: I wish he'd still be here.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: What's it like though when a manager absolutely loves you like that?
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: It's brilliant.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: You just know wherever he's doing.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: So Mick was great with me.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: It's like when Alex Ferguson stayed on, didn't he?
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: He decided to retire and then he stayed on, and everyone's going to Dwight York.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: Oh no, you're gonna have to go now, you've had a nightmare.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: And Ryan Giggs went, oh no, I've just signed a new five year deal.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: So Mick was my the assistant up at Gretna, and I was on decent enough money at Shrewsbury.
- 50:10SPEAKER_01: What year was the where was what league had Gretna got to by this time?
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: Uh first division, so championship now.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: To go up to the Prem.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: To go up to Prem.
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: And I'm I remember driving up with my agent and they were talking about so, but it's just going to be the same money as you're on at Shrewsbury.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: And I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, that's not what I got told.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: And mixed just on I'm like, all right, I am saying if I'm gonna take lever.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: So I got good dough, good bonuses.
- 50:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I got I that that that put Brooks somehow got my deal over the line of Carlisle with who did you play out front with?
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: Was it O'Grady?
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: No.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: Well, James Grady played uh we played a 43-3.
- 50:43SPEAKER_01: I for some reason I was like the middle of the three, yeah.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: Um had David Gray on one side.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: You guys couldn't have been on one side, could he?
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: He never played three.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: Did he not?
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: Nah, see he he played the third division, second division.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: So first game of the season we played Hamilton, we beat them 6-1, and I was like, I'm never going to play here.
- 50:59SPEAKER_00: But then we played in the Wafer Cup against Derry, got scuddied 5-1 or from them, and I was like, they had a couple of boys playing for them, like they were class, and you were like, Oh, they all kind of got moved down to England, and then I played every game after that.
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: Did you?
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: And Kenny Juker got punted and I'm sure he went down south sometime.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: What was it like though for you?
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: It was like that home game in the Premier League, it was rubbish.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: Because you went mother well with it.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: Was there a good atmosphere at Ray Dale?
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: Redale it was decent, it's a good wee tight wee ground.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: And all four streets were open or not.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and if you could get well, behind the goals wasn't yet, the other three were open.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: See if you could get eight, nine hundred folk, and it wasn't a bad thing.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: It's good because everybody's on top of you.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: Um but then when we were on promotion to go to the Premier League, it was ridiculous.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: You we played it for part, Motherwell.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: And that's a what, an hour and a bit?
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: An hour and twenty on the road.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: I remember.
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: What was it?
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: What was it what happened to getting wasn't it right at the death of the last game or something like that?
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: He's got promotion.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: So we'd we were top of the league for miles, miles in front, and then St Johnson that was Derek McKinney on Coils.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, St Johnson, Claude is back, and Claude is back in the last game of the season.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: We were away to Ross County.
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: We needed to win.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: I think St Johnson were away to Hamilton, they'd won 4-0.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: They were on the pitch waiting on our score, it was 2-2, and we scored in the 95th minute.
- 52:19SPEAKER_01: Um James gives better than that, does it?
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: And obviously, Brooks loved that now they're drinking money that was flung about in that bus on the way down the road.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: I was telling them Brendan McGill was like still part of Simmons plans.
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: And he had a year left, and Simmo went, You might not play that much, but Gretnara in for you.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: Do you want to talk to them?
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: Three-year deal on double money.
- 52:37SPEAKER_00: He barely played for us.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he barely played, and he was a crack we played.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: He got a three Brooks signed him.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: I know it might not be.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: I got the youth team to mid-table, mate.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: He just watched you in a warm-up, didn't he?
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: So did you sign it at the same time as Baldy in that?
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: I was there with MIME, Birchie, Baldy, Big Digsy, Davy Bingham, um Stevie Tosh in the middle.
- 52:54SPEAKER_01: Stevie Tosh.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: Some right good players.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: I got removed arm books all for money, wasn't it?
- 53:00SPEAKER_01: And then when it went pop, it just went pop, didn't it?
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: Just David Irons told me in the January, get yourself out of here.
- 53:08SPEAKER_00: Get yourself out, it's gone, it's gone, it's gone.
- 53:10SPEAKER_01: And I was like, right, so I just what year was that?
- 53:13SPEAKER_01: 2008, probably.
- 53:15SPEAKER_01: So was it one season in the premier?
- 53:16SPEAKER_01: One they disappeared after that.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: 2008, Jan.
- 53:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: Remember we needed a striker, Jordan's cruise shit, didn't he?
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: And I was just thinking David Irons was saying get out, or wouldn't that?
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: Could have been I could have been like John Water a little luck.
- 53:31SPEAKER_00: I made an I made an asset basically because my first six months at Gretna, I got off the new contract after six months.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: Scored 20 goals before Christmas.
- 53:41SPEAKER_00: And uh Hibs and I think it was St.
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: Mirin both offered me a contract and Gretna blew them out of the water.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: Did they?
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: Aye, and I was like, I could stay with Gretna and I signed another two and a half year deal with Gretna.
- 53:53SPEAKER_00: I think they still owe me a fortune.
- 53:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, so you didn't get it?
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: Hibs, you've got to go, Hibbs.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: I'm not, I've got to go with it.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: I'm sitting listening, I know.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: I know and it's it's hard for until you're in that position.
- 54:06SPEAKER_01: You said before then my last game, like proper game in the Premier League, it was against Celtic, and he was only back.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: Do you go on?
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: No, no, he said no, I couldn't remember.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: 18, 19, you're right though, there, like you got another two years on, say I'm not saying double the money, but and you think I've already been around a bit, I've learned from players at Shrewsbury and that that it's a small, it's a tiny profession, small wind that you've got and you're enjoying it.
- 54:32SPEAKER_01: And at that point, then do you think the other season's the right bid for you anyway?
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: What age were you then when they got offered that?
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: 2008, 27.
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: Did you have like an agent at the thing?
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: I had an agent, uh Alan Person, you know.
- 54:42SPEAKER_01: I and Well and I.
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: What did you where did you go from there then when it went pub?
- 54:45SPEAKER_01: Dundee.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: Ah.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: No, back into the first division.
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: Championship in Prem were kind of back then were good players, weren't they?
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: It was good sports.
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: You still get even now, you've still got big clubs in it.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: I part it's I still know that, but but then it we had when I went to Dundee, we had Dundee, St Johnston, Hamilton, Inverness.
- 55:04SPEAKER_01: What kind of decent what was your favourite game in Scottish football?
- 55:07SPEAKER_01: The Celtic couldn't be related to it.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: Scored against them.
- 55:11SPEAKER_01: Scored a couple against Celtic.
- 55:13SPEAKER_01: You better celebrate.
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: I never celebrated again.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, you can celebrate no.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: Well, you can celebrate again.
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: The first what the first time I scored against Celtic was the Scottish Cup semi-final with 3-0 done.
- 55:22SPEAKER_01: If I scored against we were pulled the tops off.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: Or ever because you're evited, fuck.
- 55:29SPEAKER_02: Because you're evited.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: And then my second goal against Celtic, if you watch it back on YouTube, it's the ball over the top.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: Boric comes out to clear it and misses the ball completely.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: And I just tap it in for absolutely.
- 55:41SPEAKER_01: You can't celebrate that either.
- 55:45SPEAKER_01: Scored against him or not?
- 55:46SPEAKER_01: I scored against him, right?
- 55:47SPEAKER_01: But you celebrated against that man score.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: Who was the Ranger keeper?
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: Stefan Kloss.
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: What year was that then?
- 55:54SPEAKER_01: I'd have been 2004.
- 55:56SPEAKER_01: So who was in them rangers and Celtic teams then?
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: Well, Sunday we played Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final on a Sunday, so Larson scored one, Sutton scored two.
- 56:04SPEAKER_01: You had Petrov, Harson, Baldy, Barn.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: Nakhamura was a bit later later.
- 56:10SPEAKER_01: Um you had day players Lennon.
- 56:12SPEAKER_01: Frank Namara?
- 56:13SPEAKER_01: Matt Amara would have played.
- 56:14SPEAKER_01: Lambert?
- 56:15SPEAKER_00: No, we see it would have played.
- 56:17SPEAKER_00: So I scored.
- 56:18SPEAKER_00: Scored on that Sunday against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi- on a Wednesday we played Rangers and it would have been both De Boers.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: Ferguson?
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: Ferguson.
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: Frank Frank Horst or what he had.
- 56:29SPEAKER_00: Oh he wouldn't have been there.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: But Stefan Kloss was a goalie.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: Frank De Boer, Ronald De Boer, Michael Moles.
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: I got Middle Mules' shirt.
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: If he was he'd never done was it his knee or something?
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: I didn't scrub it before I think he would have been like the game I scored against Rangers, it was 1-1.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: That was Michael Moles' last goal for Rangers as well.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: Was it?
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: And then it it's as close as I'll ever get to Celtic because Celtic then won the league on the Sunday again come on in the paper next day was McMeneman and Celtic's title.
- 56:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, you boss him with that on it.
- 56:57SPEAKER_01: Did you get a medal for that?
- 56:58SPEAKER_01: Um the parade on the bus.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: I certainly was a beer at the parade anyway.
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: Oh that's class.
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: So that was a Sunday Wednesday, to be fair.
- 57:07SPEAKER_01: Celtic Nation, just a quick touch on it.
- 57:09SPEAKER_01: So Celtic Nation is when a American Scottish businessman ended up in Carlisle, drove to Guildford Park.
- 57:16SPEAKER_01: Could have made him film about that.
- 57:17SPEAKER_01: Fell in love with it, and you said it's I'm gonna get this team right through all the leagues, and I'm gonna call them Celtic Nation, make them play in green and white.
- 57:26SPEAKER_01: And to be fair to him, he had a thousand Celtic supporters down every other Saturday.
- 57:30SPEAKER_01: It was good to be.
- 57:31SPEAKER_01: And the wedge reminded me, Paul Arneson, Jeff Smith, Spike Lee, all players could have played still, came here for like 600, 700 quid a week.
- 57:39SPEAKER_01: You had Murph, Willie Gibson, Colin, Peter, but yeah, some like learning.
- 57:42SPEAKER_01: Mike Wasrath's manager.
- 57:44SPEAKER_01: I Mike Rosrath's manager.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: I couldn't believe what was going on, like it was I didn't know anything about it.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: Like I was at I'd left Ross County, fell out with Derek Adams.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, the Derek Adams Arsehle, Derek.
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: What's he like?
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: Why is he an Arsenal?
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: Well, we played Celtic on the Dillon's on the bench and we're gone.
- 58:04SPEAKER_01: And you won and you wanted to wear the Celtic?
- 58:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was 18.
- 58:08SPEAKER_01: Trying to play against one Yama and Joe Ledley.
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: That was actually I think the midfield was one Yama.
- 58:14SPEAKER_01: Um Scott Browns.
- 58:17SPEAKER_01: Kyle, that would have been that.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: Keysun Young.
- 58:20SPEAKER_00: It was nil-nil at half time.
- 58:21SPEAKER_00: I'd done well with a few chances.
- 58:22SPEAKER_00: Game finishes 4-0.
- 58:24SPEAKER_00: Like Gary Hooper scores two.
- 58:26SPEAKER_00: I think Samaras scores and James A.
- 58:28SPEAKER_00: Forrest comes off the bench and scores.
- 58:29SPEAKER_00: Like, good team, 4-0.
- 58:31SPEAKER_00: I'm played the 90 minutes as a striker.
- 58:33SPEAKER_00: Barely touched the ball, you're getting boped about, and he came up to me after night.
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: He went, That's as good as you've played for me.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: You've worked hard and you've taken us up the park and you've got a couple of chances and you kept us in it.
- 58:44SPEAKER_00: I was like, ah bro.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: We went to Marbair two weeks later, winter break in Scotland.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: Came back for the winter break, and there was a list up for a team to go play against Brewer, and I wasn't on it.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I went chapter's door.
- 58:56SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I'm known that list.
- 58:57SPEAKER_00: He went, You're not part of my plans.
- 58:59unknown: Eh?
- 58:59SPEAKER_01: I went.
- 59:00SPEAKER_01: What you done out in that one.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: Aye, he's heard he's heard about the aspects in Mar Bear again.
- 59:04SPEAKER_01: I didn't do nothing.
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: There was a few boys that did, and he just said, You're not for me, you're not letting you go.
- 59:09SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 59:10SPEAKER_01: And I was like, You just said two weeks ago it was my best game for you.
- 59:13SPEAKER_01: And he went, Nah, but we we clashed all I think.
- 59:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it seems that way.
- 59:16SPEAKER_01: Done well at Walkham like, but didn't do well at Bradford.
- 59:19SPEAKER_01: Seems a bit strange.
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: I just seems a bit of a strange character, to be fair.
- 59:22SPEAKER_01: And then something is so you're just getting what this money twice a week training?
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: Well, I got promised it was gonna be full time, but it was gonna be proper, professional, and everything was gonna happen.
- 59:33SPEAKER_00: So I had an offer to go to Morton or I had an offer to go to Celt Nation, and I was like, he was telling me he's gonna sign Skip and he's gonna talk to Willie Gibson, and we're gonna talk to this player and that's why.
- 59:42SPEAKER_00: John Paul McGovern.
- 59:43SPEAKER_00: Johnny.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: He walked out, didn't he?
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: Well, you can't be playing on the ice.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: I thought they were picking up at a car park, turns out it was the stadium.
- 59:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we've been on the street.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: And I'd obviously I'd been at Livingston with Johnny, so I'd knew Johnny Pee for Livingston days, and he was just like, nah.
- 59:59SPEAKER_00: But he was all that there was a lot of promises flung about, and then it the boys got me through it to be fair because they had such a good group of things.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: Wait, on Tuesday night, Thursday night.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_00: Tuesday night, Thursday night.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: I but it was good.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_00: I tired of doom with the manager a lot of the time because well next day took over.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he did, right?
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_01: And then we got good guy in money, brilliant guy, yeah, really good.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_00: And then we had Jim Patterson sign, remember Jim Patterson that played with Bristol and Plymouth.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: And he he came and played, so it was the three of us in the car, and then so it was actually the boys put me through.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: I loved the away days Tuesday night away at my door, but I put up the back wrong.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_01: It was professional like, and then again that went pot, and then Sten asked me off to finish off the case.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_01: He got me into to be a coach.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_01: Scott Booth was a manager, and he asked me to be a Dick Striker, yeah.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_01: He was you up with Scotland that in it as well, Scott Booth.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_00: Aberdeen Strike, was he Aberdeen Strike?
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_01: Aberdeen, then went to Bruce.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was Aberdeen, went to Bruce and Dortmund.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_01: I'm sure I had him with one of the youth teams of Scotland.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_01: He done this he'd done the schoolboys team under 15, some teenage shield, under sixteen.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: Ah, back to the shield, aye aye.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_01: So were you in like with Daniel Higgins and no, was he what's it were Calvin Miller not that?
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_01: No, they're younger than that.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_01: But he done their team as well, right?
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_00: So he did so he became the manager and then I was taking the reserves and me and him clashed as well.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_00: I'd set my team up left back being number three, and he said no no no no no.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_00: Because he came through the Dutch side, he went two, three, four, five, left back, and I'm like, nah, that's the bit.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_00: And I was like, no, it's not for me.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_00: So I felt like him as well.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: Right, we've got some quick fire questions at the end, but we've got what's the crack?
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: Sponsored by Tony Everton.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_01: Was that with them on Saturday?
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: Where where uh where did you end up?
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_01: Where was what was the last place you were in?
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_01: The Cumberland.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_01: Rouge.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_01: No, well there, don't need to be there.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_01: Cumberland, Ramas pounced.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_01: Um the window.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: How do lads?
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: Been listening since the first episode and always look forward to the next one.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: Something I've always wondered is how the three of you ended up doing the podcast together.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_01: Obviously, skipping Lummy were mates prior, but how did Dylan come into the mix from the outside?
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_01: Dylan's career doesn't look like it would have crossed path with you, so I've always wondered how that came about.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_01: However, it happened, definitely worked because the three of you bounce off each other really well, and it's a great listen.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_01: Keep them coming, Kieran Graham.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: Nice one.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: Well, I seen his social media following, and I thought we can tap into this, seen the open goal, and then a lad says put him onto it.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_01: So he he had to put in the application form to his wife, who then said yes, and then we got it, and then got it over the line.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_01: We got a deal over the line, don't we?
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: The deal over the line, yeah.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: Few deals going on round, and now we settled, yeah, signed a big contract at Gretna, settled in Carlisle.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_01: It wasn't as big as mine, yeah.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_01: It would never be in as big as mine's at Grenna.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_01: You maybe it will be, actually.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: I'm hearing stories.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_01: Are you doing uh couple of dodgy results?
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_01: Aye, a few, but well, we've we've done alright during the week.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_01: We've got a 3-0 win and then oh yeah, good win good win during the week.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_01: By the way, first game, first week of the season, three games now.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: Ah, yeah, no, it's madness, innit?
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_01: Um fast part-time, innit?
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_01: Um but I won't up at the half time and then lost 4-1.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: Just um folded second half.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: But aye, listen, it's Sally Doors, and I think there was a quite a few missing.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, by all accounts, um the manager said there's a few boys that'll be missing managers.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_01: Every club around here at the minute saying there's got lads missing.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_01: Is it because Kendall caught it's holiday season, peak holiday season?
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: Um Kendall callins on, festivals are all over the place.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_01: That's a big thing with part-time teams, it's just the getting them getting them there.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_01: Get your full squad there, fate and fire, and then you're right.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_01: You've got loads of players to play from.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_01: Here you haven't got as many right now.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_01: I don't feel like it's not a big pull, is it really?
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_01: Or you haven't gone to travel too long either.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: But um but we'll get there a few weeks.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: Even myself, I still don't feel uh up to speed.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, I've had one training session straight into a game the Saturday and then game Wednesday.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_01: Hardly training, do you know what I mean?
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_01: So I think after a few weeks, get a few games under the belt.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_01: Myself and obviously a few others or start feeling it.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_01: Even probably you don't feel right till eighth, ninth game, I don't think.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_01: I blow until about the seventh, eighth.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_01: First game of the season was horrific.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_01: Horrific.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_01: Boiling off.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_01: Especially the stadiums that had the timer up.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_01: You could see how long you'd played a whole field.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, residents in the biggest.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_01: Suit me.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: Cheers for that.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: Anyway, alright, lads, cracking podcast, loving it.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: On the subject of icks, I've got a major one.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_01: Brits constantly smashing vapes like they're going out of fashion.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_01: Never got one out of their hand or their mouth, it's proper cringe worthy.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_01: Even more so on holiday when you just casually see Europeans smashing a 20-deck of Marlboro heads.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, and on the subject of best takeaways, Chutney's on Wignan Road.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: The rap.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_01: Ooh, the chicken take a rap's phenomenal.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_01: Is it?
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_01: Chutneys on Wigton Road take some beating, especially their raps.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: Just get just don't hang around too long in there.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: You might start questioning their hygiene rate.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_01: Ah, you go in with your eyes closed.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_01: Keep up the great episode, Steve Hastings.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_01: So the rap from Chutneys.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, have a go, mate, honestly.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_01: For now.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna have to.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_01: Them vapes, I mean, imagine charging something on the wall and then smoking it.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_01: I kind of get my head bit in my mind.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: Honestly, some of the vapes are that size.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_01: But see, for me, it's for it's kids, man.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_01: Like I've got a neck.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_01: Young teenagers with vapes.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_01: You like you older people and that you can do what you want, but you're on a neck who don't realise what they're doing.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_01: Arroya, this Chinese debate, the Royal Adamant.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_01: There's been a a Chinese in the Arroyo.

- 1:05:56SPEAKER_01: I'm just thinking about food here.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_01: I need breakfast.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: I need lunch and I need snacks.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: Isn't on a Sunday.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_01: You are going to be well fed.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_01: On Sunday, you are going to be I'm probably too well fed.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, I don't mean that.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: I don't want you bloated, but you're going to be well looked after.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_01: What's the crack on the train when we get on it at five to ten in the morning?
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_01: We're going to do some content.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_01: We don't because last time I went on train with you and we went over Newcastle, you had four bottles of Esper Desperado.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: Smack on the train and went and watched the New Castle game.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_01: Only place we could watch the final was the casino because it was not the busiest bit.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_01: I've watched him walk out and I'm texting them going, Don't you dare go.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: I know you've got a history of don't you dare go.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_01: Phone off, gone.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_01: I've got to travel back from Newcastle on me todd.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_01: Harry Potter's cloak on in it.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_01: So we're not boozing on the train.

- 1:06:40SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_01: We're then going to flight club.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_01: His food will be there.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_01: What are we doing for breakfast though?
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_01: You've missed it.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_01: I'm having my breakfast at nine o'clock at Lydes.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_01: Is it a Greg's?
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_01: I'm going Lydes at nine.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_01: Is it a Greg's bacon rolling?
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_01: Lydes at nine.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_01: I was two years at Newcastle with him and never seen him out in Newcastle once.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_01: He came home every weekend.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: I said that's away.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_01: Couldn't get on.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_01: I remember we played looting away.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_01: Open his car door, his course a door and all came out.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_01: Back on its pairs.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: We played lootin' away for Port Vale, and I was still in the nightclub and car all of a sudden, like you win.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_01: So head up.

- 1:07:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_01: I didn't even want to go out, but you cannot break that habit because you think you're missing out in 19.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_01: See you on a Monday night.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_01: No, what it is, it's see when you see like Chase.

- 1:07:53SPEAKER_01: Ah, you've got to go back and get past the card.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_01: But I had a barhaw card, didn't I?
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_01: Who was the guy?
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_01: Who had the McDonald's card?
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_01: Do you have a McDonald's card?
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_01: The big guy that had the crosses and James's.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, big Steve.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_01: Pugger.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_01: Got you.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_01: The black bull.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_01: The black bull, that's it.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_01: Remember McCollin?
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_01: You would just say to him, I've got six boys confident tonight.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_01: We used to trip up.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_01: Pugger, I used to run in the Castle United pub, always with us, and then lads, because his best mate was Armasus, Arvey Mix.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_01: Um, did he get a McDonald's card?
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_01: I did when I went to Scotland.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_01: We got it.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_01: So you can only use this bull gold McConnell McDonald's for one meal.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_01: One meal.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_01: But you know only at Killenbath, there's one on the roundabout at Silver Link and there's one at Dudley.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_01: So you just I used to get one there and just bomb up two minutes.

- 1:08:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, that is broke.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_01: Sweat that right.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_01: Anyway, Baz Rob said, There's never been a Chinese in the Aroya.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_01: He's right.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_01: Save your pod for Friday drive home every treat.

- 1:09:10SPEAKER_01: Did he do them though?
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_01: Question favourite pair of boots?
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_01: I'm expecting some proper black leather classics from you and Ski.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_01: I love the Pew McKing.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_01: I like to copamondial.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_01: Black and white ones I've had, but I didn't like white.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_01: I always cut the tongue off.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_01: I just didn't like tongues.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_01: I just liked it.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_01: I always cut the tongue off.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_01: Like even Pew McKing and I've cut them off.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_01: I would never wear black boots.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_01: Have you never wore black boots?
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_01: Never.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_01: Are you a Nike or Adidas man?
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_01: Nike.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_01: I've always been my Nike, yeah.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_01: I used to wear a D this back in Rangers when I was a youth boy.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_01: Used to wear Preds and then they changed the shape.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_01: Remember there used to be like the Beckham ones and that and then they changed them to like an arrow shape.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_01: Did you get a big we used to get a big bag of gay, I remember?
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_01: Ah.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_01: And there was a pair of um a day's boots where they were all black.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_01: A bit of grey on, did they?
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_01: A little bit of grey on, yeah.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_01: Remember them, yeah.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_01: The coaching boots and I used to sell them.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_01: Dag and I remember you were in Umbro for a bit.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_01: Thought he was Sheera.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_01: No, I'm sure he'd I'm sure he bought a pair of boots too.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_01: Umbro boots and thing when Shearer seen them and brought you in boots and said, I don't ever buy them again.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_01: I don't have a Umbro again.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_01: Couldn't get sponsored by night, could you?
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_01: He's like, nah.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_01: I had to pair a lot or lot or lot of ores.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_01: I was sponsored.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_01: I heard of it when I was at Newcastle.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the Greek.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_01: What were you?
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_00: I was sponsored by night when I was at Newcastle.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_00: I'd get a box every six weeks, it was about that by that.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_00: And then Speedo's box would come in.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_00: I could probably stand on his box.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_00: Like I'd just get in on it, on it.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_00: But then I assigned for Livingston in my age.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_00: It was like, I'm going to get you a sponsor deal, and I got mitre.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_01: Might it um and Roy will have to put his question in.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_01: Are you where do you put your boots on?
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_01: Are you boot, boot, tie left, tie right?
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_01: Are you boot on, tie it, next boot on, tie it?
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_01: Put them both on, then tie them both.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_01: Left on first?
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_01: I was left first.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_01: Left first.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_01: Why does it seem like every footballer that I've spoken to or heard about this question always left to right?
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_01: I that's what I do.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_01: Just in order, innit?
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_01: Is it well why is it not right to left?
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_01: I haven't asked them.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_01: Do you know that it's just gonna go?
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_01: Left to right.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_01: Do you do that as well?
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_01: Left, right, everything, like even shimpad saw, choose, everything.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_01: Everything's left.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_01: Everything's left in this country at the moment.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_01: I'm not allowed to go into politics.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_01: Impassedly right.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: Um anyway quickfire questions to finish.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_01: Best player you played with.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_00: Who?
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, same for Celtic.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_01: Did you go sell it?
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, very sell it.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_00: I think he he's uh he became one of the top uh scouts for Barcelona.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_01: Did he?
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_01: Remind me of Junior.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_01: Sorry?
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_01: Was it plastic pitch back then?
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_01: Against player he played against.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_01: It's easy to see Henry Larson and that too.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_01: We'll just leave it at that.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_01: I'll do the next question.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_01: Bobby Valde was weak though, wasn't he?
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_00: That's the thing playing against Celtic team.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_01: I'd be like five foot ten, like about like the side of fiver, and you'd have Volgarin, Yalbe, and Bowdy, which would be the three you'd drop against.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_01: Sorry, they're just Roy's high heels were going past again.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_01: Ah, you have to say Henry Larson.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_01: Best ground?
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_01: Parkhead.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_01: Best biggest game you played in Scottish Cup final against Celtic Scorem and Larson scoring in the same game.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_01: Class.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_01: That's phenomenal, that I'll take that one.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_01: Biggest cock, as in Dickhead, not in the shower.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_01: I don't say you can't say your own.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_01: Probably Keyntier.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, Colin.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_01: He was just found himself now, though.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_01: He seems a bit nice.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_01: I've seen a bit of him on the TV and I was like, nah, Matt is neither person.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_01: Maybe growing up with it.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_01: Is he a fraud for everybody?
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_01: Hammer my cause.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_01: He'd just hammer everybody.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_01: I'll up this side of the boys, I mate.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_01: No one of these if you take a bad touch, it's that one of them just constantly sounds alright to me.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_01: Massive time.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_01: Hammer everybody.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_01: To be fair, I said to him off, I said to Peter Murphy, I went, as long as he's good as what he says he is, and Murph went, not that best pro the Caldrills were gotta be there.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_00: Speed.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_00: I know Gary Speed was on new, but spend so much time with Gaz and Steve, especially Gaz, because in terms of ability, he he made everything of his career.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_01: And Steve as well.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_01: You can imagine him not being the best at presenting us a mate, and then he's gonna mare himself a channel in Canada to be great at it.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_01: I've seen him a couple of Christmases ago and had a pipe with him.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: Great at that.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: There's a story about Gaz as well when he's leaving Celtic.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_00: So when he was leaving Celtic, I think he was on eight grand a week.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_00: Celtic captain, just one player a year.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_01: You forget that, I forget he was a Celtic.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_00: A Van Der Snow was on 20 odd grand a week, and when they were doing his contract negotiations, they were like, ah, we'll we'll get you up to this, and he was like, No, I want what Denati's on, I want what the Van Der Snow's on.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_00: Nah, they wouldn't give him it.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_00: He was got to sign for Middlesbrough, Gordon Stracken was the manager at Middlesbrough.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_01: He life took the field, didn't he?
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_00: And uh they were sitting, shook his hand, and they were going, right, sign in the morning.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_00: I think he was getting 18 a week or something at Middlesbrough.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_00: And Martinez phoned for Wigan saying and Gaz was like, I just gave him a telephone number.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_00: Martinez went, right, we'll send a helicopter.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_00: It's like fuck.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_00: He was on bonuses galory stay-up that they got.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_00: So he got made fortunes and he had to tell Gordon Stratton the next day, I can't really normal.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_01: I've heard this and Gordon Strack and just supposedly they just turned around and walked back at him three times.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_01: He's got that on him straight and you can tell.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_01: Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_01: I I think Stracken's funny, but every player's played for him thinks he's a bit of a medic.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_01: I love him.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_01: I love him.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_01: Um superstitions, any?
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_01: No, but probably uh left foot, right foot, put my foot on it.
- 1:15:13SPEAKER_01: Like I always poached eggs, same thing every time.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_01: Changed a few times.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_01: I used to banana with honey on toast as well.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_01: What was yours?
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_01: Couple of wraps.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_01: Mine was a fry-up.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_01: Nine o'clock in the morning, then nothing.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_01: Nah.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_01: Maybe a banana, as you say, one o'clock.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_01: A Jaffa cake.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_01: I used to batter the Jaffa cakes as well, guys.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_01: Best manager.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_01: Mick Oldswell, doesn't he?
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_01: Make that took care of it.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_01: Mick is never my manager.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, he was at Celly Nation for four games.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_01: Um I had John Hughes at Falk up and I thought he was brilliant.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_01: He kind of got a big thing.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_01: Just the OZB good.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_01: What do you call him?
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_01: He's alleged, mate.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_01: Um he was doing the sports science stuff before anybody was doing it.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_01: He's an animal, mate.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_01: Have you seen the size of him now?
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_01: His age, he's a fucking unit.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_01: He's doing a bit of work for the umit, the LME for Scotland.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_01: Ah, yeah.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_01: And I spoke to him and he came to see me and all that and had a good crack with him.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_00: Looked a million dollars with the BPK blinders hat and all that.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_00: Looked unreal.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_00: But he was he was brilliant.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_00: He was a player manager with me, so he was he was top not yet.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_01: Worst manager?
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_01: Who?
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_01: I know your answer.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_01: No, you don't you've said it about three times.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_01: But he was successful.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_01: I had one out of Zanberry getting a scrolling.
- 1:16:33SPEAKER_01: Yes, he was.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_00: He's a titter.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_00: One day we half time he was going nuts and he went, see when you get the ball.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_00: Throw it to the fullback.
- 1:16:44SPEAKER_00: Fullback.
- 1:16:44SPEAKER_00: Give it to the winger.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_00: Winger, come inside, one, two with a striker, get wiped, cross the ball, you gotta go.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_00: And I just thought he was hiding under the table.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_00: I just thought it was my agent was giving him the spiel.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_00: Colin can drop into wide areas if you're struggling.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_00: We play 4-3-3, you stay high.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_00: We'll never tell.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_00: I was just like, oh no, he was brutal for me.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_00: Brutal, brutal.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_01: I agree with him.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_01: He was he you never clue what he was doing.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_01: Last one.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_01: Any regrets?
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_01: Nah, no regrets.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_01: Hibbs?
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_01: Ah, yeah, no, it's day for the veg.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_01: I double I was just about to say that.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_01: I blame you.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_00: I I kinda think.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_01: And it was uh Tommy Craig was there at the time.
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_01: Aye.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, was it?
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_01: Aye.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_01: It was still you've still got if the difference in money, if it's that much, you can't.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_00: I know, and it's just if we were flying at Grena.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_00: You were thinking it would go to the Premier League, everything was good.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_00: Brooks was healthy in the police years.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_01: Really, really good.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_01: When you jump out, like sometimes it's not always about money as well.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_01: I know you've got better, but you when you jump out of bed playing for a club, that's the best bit, isn't it?
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like looking forward to getting in, because other times you during your career like that, I don't want to go in, yeah.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_00: At one point though, Gretner were just on the march, weren't they?
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_00: Like they were unstoppable.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_00: But when I think about it, is it a regret?
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_00: No, because if I'd went to Hibs, I would have been that's when Fletch was coming through, and all these boys, and you're like, pfft these boys are better than me.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_00: So it's no regrets, there's no point.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_01: I've just got one confession to make.

- 1:18:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the one.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm on about.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_01: And everyone just like turned away from the pitch and he's just looking off.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_01: He needs to be James Bond.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_01: He could do it.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_01: Grew?
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_01: Grew an inch and a half.

- 1:19:12SPEAKER_01: Jordan Pickford always remember.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_01: I've told the story.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_01: Elliot Anderson, Jordan Pickford didn't really want to leave their agents and saying, listen, this is how their life's gonna change.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_01: You're going from that money to that money.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_01: Just think longer term is a change in lifestyle and all that.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_01: But you don't get many jumps like that though, do you?
