- 0:00Speaker 1: It's more Mark, Mark Simone on seven to ten. Woor Well,
- 0:06Speaker 1: let's talk to the dean himself. Ed Rollins has been
- 0:09Speaker 1: in a lot of white houses. He's run a lot
- 0:11Speaker 1: of campaigns, some of the most successful in the world.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Ed Rollins, how you doing.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark?
- 0:17Speaker 1: How are you very good? Hey? The idea of ice
- 0:21Speaker 1: getting criminals off the street good thing. Buying Greenland it
- 0:26Speaker 1: be a good thing. But does the White House have
- 0:28Speaker 1: a messaging problem that they're not explaining things correctly or
- 0:32Speaker 1: enough to.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Get they are? You know, the reality is, as we've
- 0:36Speaker 2: talked before, this is so much coming every day. But
- 0:39Speaker 2: let me just say this. What the speech you just made.
- 0:41Speaker 2: This was Trump's thought process. He laid out his thinking.
- 0:45Speaker 2: He laid out you know, it's not always coherent. But
- 0:50Speaker 2: the critical message was there's no going to be invasion
- 0:53Speaker 2: of Greenland, which a lot of people were worried about
- 0:55Speaker 2: Brightley or wrongly. Secondly, Greenland is still very important to Trump,
- 1:02Speaker 2: and he says this has been picked up in much
- 1:04Speaker 2: the analysis Hit but this is where it wants to
- 1:07Speaker 2: put the Golden Dome. The Golden Dome is a structure
- 1:10Speaker 2: over is Israel that basically knocks down drones and what
- 1:15Speaker 2: have you. Reagan had talked about it with the Star
- 1:17Speaker 2: Wars program forty years ago. It's an expensive not totally developed,
- 1:24Speaker 2: not certainly funded yet. But I think there's no question
- 1:27Speaker 2: that's that's his intent is to put a golden dome there,
- 1:30Speaker 2: which obviously if you view the world in a different
- 1:33Speaker 2: way and certainly the way he thinks, uh the engage
- 1:37Speaker 2: and call him they called him glom that way. The
- 1:40Speaker 2: critical the critical thing here, I think is that this
- 1:43Speaker 2: will be a speech that will be studied long after
- 1:45Speaker 2: Trump is out of office. Really today's really because this
- 1:50Speaker 2: really is a thought process. This is what he thinks
- 1:52Speaker 2: of his allies, is what he thinks of. This is
- 1:55Speaker 2: his style. And I think you know, you couldn't You
- 1:59Speaker 2: couldn't say down and say all right, this is all
- 2:01Speaker 2: all the subjects. But it's a thought process. This is
- 2:05Speaker 2: it's been repeated over and over again, but this was
- 2:08Speaker 2: a different form. This was a form of where you
- 2:11Speaker 2: had people in any business, leaders, what have you. And
- 2:17Speaker 2: he's very open his thought process. He certainly wasn't willing
- 2:21Speaker 2: to pat himself on the back, justifiably for some of
- 2:23Speaker 2: the things that he's done, pushed credit away from some
- 2:28Speaker 2: of the things that Europeans think they've done. And I
- 2:32Speaker 2: wouldn't say it was a friendly speech. It was sort
- 2:34Speaker 2: of like, here's my thought process. I'm the most significant
- 2:36Speaker 2: leader in the world, had the biggest military in the world,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and that's what my thought process is. And you need
- 2:42Speaker 2: to study it, you need to analyze it. So I
- 2:44Speaker 2: think I think there'll be a lot of there'll be
- 2:46Speaker 2: a lot of commentary, it'll be negative towards it. But
- 2:49Speaker 2: I think this is the reality. This is what he
- 2:50Speaker 2: thinks is what he's going to try and do the
- 2:51Speaker 2: next three years. And he's claiming a lot of the
- 2:54Speaker 2: things that he's done justifiably, and I think to a
- 2:57Speaker 2: certain extent, it'll be analyzed and over analyzed.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Now if you're the other world leaders. Uh, and Trump
- 3:04Speaker 1: is so blunt and he just says what he thinks
- 3:07Speaker 1: all that, even if they don't like it, do they
- 3:09Speaker 1: kind of appreciate that for once they got a guy
- 3:11Speaker 1: who straight talks with them and they know what he's thinking.
- 3:14Speaker 2: No, No, haven every work work for a few presidents
- 3:19Speaker 2: and a lot of political leaders. Uh, there's there's gigantic eagles.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You know, humble men and women don't basically move forward
- 3:27Speaker 2: the political process. Uh. But by being humble. Uh, you know,
- 3:31Speaker 2: you've got to got to believe in yourself, you've got
- 3:33Speaker 2: to believe in the people around you, and you've got
- 3:35Speaker 2: to march forward. Uh. And Trump certainly has never been
- 3:37Speaker 2: uh been uh calm and understated. Uh. He's someone basically
- 3:43Speaker 2: said this, wo are doing this, will have done Uh.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And he's going to march forward. Now if they could
- 3:47Speaker 2: put that in a coherent speech in which he given
- 3:49Speaker 2: repeatedly and he has his cabinet give it completely. Uh,
- 3:53Speaker 2: you can have a real strategic plan for the next year,
- 3:55Speaker 2: which the next year is the critical year for him. Uh.
- 3:58Speaker 2: You know, ten in ten months, have a mid term election.
- 4:00Speaker 2: If he loses the Congress, Uh, then the last two
- 4:03Speaker 2: years are going to be irrelevant. Uh says they're still
- 4:06Speaker 2: gonna be president. But the day the day after the
- 4:09Speaker 2: November elections, and certainly if the Democrats taken back, we
- 4:12Speaker 2: begin to begin to replacement process. Uh. And that's never
- 4:15Speaker 2: a good place to be no matter who who you're president. Uh.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You know, he lose a lot of your power, not
- 4:20Speaker 2: just to the Congress, which use a lot of your power,
- 4:22Speaker 2: to the fact that someone else is coming forward, and
- 4:25Speaker 2: my sense is that if his health health holds up,
- 4:27Speaker 2: the Trump's Trump's gonna play play a very big role
- 4:30Speaker 2: in who's his successor. Uh. No guarantees it's gonna be
- 4:33Speaker 2: a banced No guarantees it's gonna be revealed, No guarantees
- 4:36Speaker 2: it's gonna be anybody. Uh. His legacy may be picking
- 4:38Speaker 2: one of his kids and try and go take the
- 4:40Speaker 2: political process that he controls today. By looking political processes
- 4:43Speaker 2: and putting one of his kids in there, certainly bushed
- 4:45Speaker 2: into that. Now this is done in the past. So
- 4:48Speaker 2: my sense is this is a speech of the overanalyzed.
- 4:50Speaker 2: It's it's it's way beyond Marlago or the White House.
- 4:54Speaker 2: This is the world looking at the speech today, and
- 4:57Speaker 2: everyone's going to have an analysis, and everyone, every every
- 4:59Speaker 2: other leader in the world, except for a few hours,
- 5:03Speaker 2: we have for him. Always I've got to criticize it.
- 5:07Speaker 2: This is what he meant, that's what he didn't mean.
- 5:09Speaker 2: This is what the interpretations are. So I think it's
- 5:11Speaker 2: gonna be. It'll be it'll be a major major document.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Whether it was a major major speech or not, it
- 5:17Speaker 2: clearly was his thought process. This is what I think
- 5:19Speaker 2: I've done. This is why I think I've done it.
- 5:22Speaker 2: This is you know, very very upbeat. This economy is
- 5:26Speaker 2: critical and is going as I planned, and equally is important.
- 5:31Speaker 2: The country is the most important country in the world.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And if you don't like that, that's too bad. As
- 5:36Speaker 2: we are.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So yeah, Now, the President also said that he may
- 5:40Speaker 1: go to Iowa later this week. Is this important for
- 5:42Speaker 1: a president like Trump to get him out of the
- 5:44Speaker 1: White House? Let him go out there and then speak,
- 5:47Speaker 1: do speeches and do that. Is it important?
- 5:49Speaker 2: Well, I was a state that he's very comfortable with.
- 5:52Speaker 2: There's a lot of stake in Iowa this year. I mean,
- 5:54Speaker 2: it's become Republican state. But we have we have an
- 5:58Speaker 2: open Senate seat there. We've got a couple of commercial
- 6:00Speaker 2: seats that So on his run, you know, I would
- 6:04Speaker 2: not if I was the political directory again in the
- 6:06Speaker 2: White House, I would not run him around the country
- 6:08Speaker 2: like they talk about doing. I would have ten or twelve,
- 6:12Speaker 2: you know, one or two a month, big events in
- 6:14Speaker 2: which he readly gets news. If he goes out in
- 6:16Speaker 2: campaigns for fifty or hundred comgressional candidates, that's not going
- 6:19Speaker 2: to do anything. It's distraction. Its first, It wears him down.
- 6:24Speaker 2: He needs to focus on the American economy. People have
- 6:27Speaker 2: to say, I don't care about Greenland, I don't care
- 6:29Speaker 2: about this, I don't care. What I care about is
- 6:31Speaker 2: my paycheck, my health care, my kids, my schools, my neighborhoods,
- 6:35Speaker 2: and those are things he needs to focus on, and
- 6:37Speaker 2: he can do that. He can be very charming when
- 6:39Speaker 2: he wants to do that.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Now. I know traditionally the party loses the Congress in
- 6:44Speaker 1: the midterms. But let's say all the big beautiful bill passes,
- 6:49Speaker 1: stuff starts happening, paychecks increase, prices start coming down, the
- 6:53Speaker 1: economy looks great in four or five months, Doesn't that
- 6:56Speaker 1: mean the Republican's got a good chance of holding Congress?
- 7:00Speaker 2: You It certainly certainly gives every unication. With the end,
- 7:04Speaker 2: there's a lot to make that happen. Again, Wherever it's
- 7:08Speaker 2: going to happen is going to happen because he's sorry
- 7:12Speaker 2: put in place. The communication message is what's very important.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And again, if he's running around the world doing things
- 7:20Speaker 2: everywhere else and not here, the Pantry doesn't care at
- 7:24Speaker 2: this point game about what happens in Ukraine, does not
- 7:29Speaker 2: care what happens in Venezuela does not care what happens
- 7:31Speaker 2: in Cuba. They care about what's happening in Iowa, Nebraska, Texas.
- 7:38Speaker 2: You know, we're going to fix the energy prices, We're
- 7:40Speaker 2: going to fix the food prices. But take care of
- 7:42Speaker 2: our farmers, but take care of healthcare. Those are things.
- 7:45Speaker 2: He's got a powerful voice if he wants to use
- 7:48Speaker 2: it for those things. If he use it for those things,
- 7:50Speaker 2: he gives Republicans watch for the chance to feel like well.
- 7:54Speaker 1: For Democrats, all these crazy women with the nose rings,
- 7:56Speaker 1: yelling and screaming at the law enforce. In the end,
- 7:59Speaker 1: does that really help Democrats?
- 8:01Speaker 2: No, you know, it may energize them a little bit,
- 8:05Speaker 2: but there's nothing Democrats can come up with this point
- 8:08Speaker 2: in time. It's going to be this new magic policy.
- 8:13Speaker 2: You know, it's going to make every soul. I want that.
- 8:15Speaker 2: What people want is either want Trump, do you want
- 8:19Speaker 2: more Trump? Or you want less Trump? And my sense
- 8:22Speaker 2: the Democrats are smarter to go out and just make it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: If you want to stop Trump, where the vehicles to
- 8:26Speaker 2: stop Trump. If you don't want to stop Trump, go
- 8:28Speaker 2: ahead and go vote for him again. It's ready to
- 8:30Speaker 2: turnout historically to turnout is not high, and mid terms
- 8:34Speaker 2: like it isn't presidential. It's not the attention, it's scattered.
- 8:37Speaker 2: It's just, you know, it's hard to get the attention
- 8:41Speaker 2: that a president can get when he's out there campaigning.
- 8:44Speaker 2: And the two races we lost this year in New
- 8:45Speaker 2: Jersey in Virginia, there was a real low turnout among
- 8:49Speaker 2: the Republicans a very high turnout among Democrats. If that's
- 8:52Speaker 2: the key, that's that's why historically people usually why people
- 8:56Speaker 2: vote presidents just party out is because they're mad at
- 8:59Speaker 2: the president for some reason. The same kind of energies
- 9:02Speaker 2: duote it to the campaign. This is duot in the
- 9:04Speaker 2: presidential campaign.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Well, Ed roands, great stuff. We always love talking to you,
- 9:08Speaker 1: Ed Rowinds the Dean himself, and we'll talk again soon.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us.

- 9:15Speaker 1: Take care. Hey, Buck and Clay are coming up at
