- 0:00Speaker 1: We have to look at the contexts in which the
- 0:04Speaker 1: text is extrapolated from the pretext tells us the atmosphere
- 0:10Speaker 1: that exists during this time. It is an atmosphere of newness.
- 0:17Speaker 1: It is an atmosphere of new beginnings. It is the
- 0:21Speaker 1: disciples embarking on Christ's work without Christ's physically being there.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And they start the work of the Lord at a
- 0:33Speaker 1: deficit because all through the Synoptic Gospels they are referred
- 0:39Speaker 1: to as a twelve, but now they only have eleven
- 0:44Speaker 1: because in the process of the crucifixion, Judas has hung
- 0:49Speaker 1: himself and his guts have spilled out on the Potterish field.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So they have the name the twelve, but the reality
- 0:59Speaker 1: is it eleven. Sometimes your name can be greater than
- 1:03Speaker 1: your situation, and when your name doesn't have equilibrium with
- 1:09Speaker 1: your situation, you want to fix that thing so that
- 1:13Speaker 1: you become authentically what they call you. And in the
- 1:18Speaker 1: process of them attempting to fix it, they meet together
- 1:22Speaker 1: and prayed and selected two men, and they began to
- 1:26Speaker 1: cast lots to see who would be Judas's replacement. They
- 1:32Speaker 1: cast lots, and they cast lots, and the lots fell
- 1:36Speaker 1: on the lots fell on Matthias, and Matthias became in
- 1:41Speaker 1: their view, the replacement for Judas. And I'm not saying
- 1:45Speaker 1: that he wasn't the replacement for Judas, but it is
- 1:48Speaker 1: interesting to note that he didn't. That there's no recordings
- 1:52Speaker 1: of Matthias doing anything amazing, no books written by their
- 1:59Speaker 1: disagreementble where the churches were founded by, and he's not
- 2:02Speaker 1: mentioned any place in all of the epistles, but they
- 2:06Speaker 1: had picked him by casting lucks. In total contrast to that,
- 2:15Speaker 1: God has chosen Saul, who we call Paul, to be
- 2:23Speaker 1: a New Testament apostle. Now, Matthias, according to my research,
- 2:30Speaker 1: had been walking with the disciples and around Jesus all
- 2:34Speaker 1: the time, and in my Colnel mind, it makes sense
- 2:39Speaker 1: that Matthias would be a replacement because he is a
- 2:42Speaker 1: witness to the miraculous power of God. Saul, on the
- 2:47Speaker 1: other hand, has no real experience with the power of God.
- 2:52Speaker 1: But rather than having experienced with the power of God,
- 2:56Speaker 1: he is totally opposed to Christianity. In fact, when he
- 3:01Speaker 1: meets the Lord, he meets the Lord on the way
- 3:06Speaker 1: to capturing more Christians to bring back to Jerusalem, though
- 3:10Speaker 1: they were not yet called Christians. It was called the Way. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and he was trying to find people who were in
- 3:17Speaker 1: the way to bring them back to Jerusalem to persecute them.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And yet he has an encounter with God. I couldn't
- 3:28Speaker 1: help but think of the difference between in the Old Testament,
- 3:32Speaker 1: between King Saul, who was somebody that God gave Israel
- 3:37Speaker 1: because they desired a king, and David, whom God chose.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Many are called, but few I chosen. And in the
- 3:54Speaker 1: Old Testament, Saul was called, but David was chosen. You
- 4:00Speaker 1: will remember when the kingdom was rejected from Saul and
- 4:03Speaker 1: Samuel was weeping. God said, why weepings? Now over what
- 4:07Speaker 1: I have rejected, I have found a man after my
- 4:10Speaker 1: own heart. Look at the contrast between Saul and David.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Saul looks like a king by all natural rights. He
- 4:21Speaker 1: has every reason to be king. He has his stature
- 4:25Speaker 1: and the demeanor of a king. He is from the
- 4:28Speaker 1: tribe of Benjamin. He comes from the pedigree that is
- 4:31Speaker 1: prophesied that he would be king. David comes from the
- 4:35Speaker 1: house of Jesse. He doesn't have the pedigree or the background.
- 4:41Speaker 1: He's from the tribe of Judah. He doesn't have the
- 4:45Speaker 1: history behind him that connotes kingship. Saul stood ahead and
- 4:51Speaker 1: shoulders above all men. He had the right look, But
- 4:55Speaker 1: David had the right annoint the right annoyingty. And while
- 5:02Speaker 1: we pick people that look good, God will pick people
- 5:08Speaker 1: that are anointed for the service and for the task.
- 5:12Speaker 1: And all of a sudden we find ourselves in this
- 5:15Speaker 1: situation that is mirrored in the New Testament as a
- 5:19Speaker 1: reflection of the Old. Whereas we are talking about Saul
- 5:23Speaker 1: versus David in the Old Testament, in the New Testament,
- 5:26Speaker 1: we're talking about Matthias. Is he the twelfth Apostle or
- 5:31Speaker 1: is it Paul. Some would even argue that Paul is
- 5:35Speaker 1: the thirteenth Apostle. But my concern is I don't see
- 5:39Speaker 1: where Matthias ever did anything. And I'm a living witness
- 5:45Speaker 1: the folk I pick on my own. I'm just gonna
- 5:52Speaker 1: let that hang out there, because enough people laugh to
- 5:56Speaker 1: let me know that you know what I'm talking. Is
- 5:58Speaker 1: there anybody in here that ever picked somebody on your own?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Cast lots, pick somebody because your mama was born in May,
- 6:07Speaker 1: and my mama was born in May, and grandma's name
- 6:11Speaker 1: was them Man, your grandma's name was Thel, And it
- 6:13Speaker 1: makes sense to you. But everything that makes sense to
- 6:17Speaker 1: you isn't what God has for you. In fact, more
- 6:23Speaker 1: times than not, God will pick something that makes no
- 6:26Speaker 1: sense at all and raise it up, and you'll be
- 6:30Speaker 1: scared to receive it, because what God has in his
- 6:34Speaker 1: heart for you doesn't agree with what you had in
- 6:37Speaker 1: your mind for you. That's just the case here in
- 6:42Speaker 1: the text. The very fact that Saul would be chosen
- 6:46Speaker 1: was so shocking that even Ananias and his faithfulness to
- 6:50Speaker 1: God did not really want to go lay hands on Saul,
- 6:54Speaker 1: because Saul was snatching people that followed Jesus and taking them,
- 7:00Speaker 1: persecuting them. And yet Saul has an encounter with God.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Somebody say an encounter with God. He has an encounter
- 7:11Speaker 1: with God. And it is not wheth somebody witnessed to him.
- 7:16Speaker 1: It is not where somebody preached to him. It is
- 7:19Speaker 1: not where somebody persuaded him. God did not use any
- 7:23Speaker 1: human hand or sticks like lots to choose him. God
- 7:29Speaker 1: stepped into Saul's life. And if you read the whole text,
- 7:33Speaker 1: you will read it was a fight on the road
- 7:36Speaker 1: to the Dabascus. It starts out with a fight. There
- 7:40Speaker 1: is a fight between God and Saul. Now Saul has
- 7:44Speaker 1: gotten permission from the high priests to go down and
- 7:48Speaker 1: attack Christians. He's got permission from the priests, but not
- 7:53Speaker 1: from the one who the priests served, and he is
- 7:58Speaker 1: credentialed to go down there and attack Christians. But God
- 8:04Speaker 1: has another plan. He intervenes into his life. He disrupts
- 8:09Speaker 1: his life, and he starts wrestling with him. A great
- 8:13Speaker 1: light appeared and knocked him off of his beast, and
- 8:17Speaker 1: then he said, who is it? Lord? And he said,
- 8:21Speaker 1: it is Jesus, whom thou persecutor? Wait a minute, I
- 8:25Speaker 1: got to talk about that at a minute. Saul had
- 8:28Speaker 1: never done anything to Jesus. He had only attacked those
- 8:33Speaker 1: who followed Jesus. But Jesus takes it personal when you
- 8:38Speaker 1: attack his kids. It is Jesus whom thou persecutor. You
- 8:47Speaker 1: think you're just rounding up my disciples, but you're actually
- 8:51Speaker 1: persecuting me. That's why we try to teach you that
- 8:54Speaker 1: the battle is not yours. It belongs to God. Because
- 8:58Speaker 1: people think they're fighting you, but they're not fighting you.
- 9:02Speaker 1: They're fighting the God that annoyed you. The battle is
- 9:06Speaker 1: not yours, and you don't have to get even. And
- 9:08Speaker 1: you don't have to feel bad because you didn't get
- 9:10Speaker 1: the last word in. And you don't have to fend
- 9:13Speaker 1: for yourself, and you don't have to struggle for yourself
- 9:16Speaker 1: because God has a way of dealing with your enemies.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I prophesy to somebody, your enemy is about to get
- 9:22Speaker 1: knocked off his heath. He's about to get knocked off
- 9:29Speaker 1: his feast. This is a radical, warlike conversion. It is
- 9:34Speaker 1: not a nice, easy conversion. It is not a polite conversion.
- 9:38Speaker 1: It is not that somebody gave him a track. It
- 9:41Speaker 1: is not that somebody prayed with him, and it's not
- 9:44Speaker 1: that somebody talked to him. It's not that somebody intellectualized him.
- 9:48Speaker 1: God just came on the road and knocked it over.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Oh God, have mercy, Lord of God. I'm just in
- 9:55Speaker 1: my introduction, I'm trying not to get happy. But when
- 9:58Speaker 1: I start thinking about all the things that God knocked over.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Is there anybody in here that's had God knock over
- 10:06Speaker 1: some stuff? Glory to God, that was coming to get
- 10:09Speaker 1: you and you knew it was coming to get you,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and God knocked it over you. It might not be
- 10:15Speaker 1: but ten people in here, but you're praising God, not
- 10:19Speaker 1: for a new car or a new house, or a
- 10:21Speaker 1: new job or a new place. You're praising God because
- 10:24Speaker 1: when the enemy was coming at you, God knocked it over.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Nudge somebody and tell them he knocked it over. They
- 10:32Speaker 1: were after me and he knocked it over. They were
- 10:35Speaker 1: after my job and he knocked it over. They were
- 10:37Speaker 1: after my mind and he knocked it over. They were
- 10:40Speaker 1: after my peace and he knocked it over. They were
- 10:43Speaker 1: after my sanity and he knocked it over. They were
- 10:46Speaker 1: after my family, and he knocked it over. And I'm
- 10:49Speaker 1: still praising God. How God can overthrow the plans of
- 10:53Speaker 1: the enemy, the tactics of the enemy, the wilds of
- 10:57Speaker 1: the devil. When God gets ready to do it, you
- 11:00Speaker 1: don't have to run out to the middle of Damascus
- 11:02Speaker 1: road God, or meet him in the middle of the
- 11:05Speaker 1: road and knock them off their beasts. Can I get
- 11:08Speaker 1: about ten seconds of praise for a knockover? Oh, it's
- 11:12Speaker 1: gonna be a knockhover. I knock over, I knock over,
- 11:15Speaker 1: I knockover, I knock over. God can knock it over.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Threw him on this back, knocked him to the floor,
- 11:27Speaker 1: and he says, who is it? Lord? And the Lord
- 11:30Speaker 1: said it is Jesus, whom thou persecuted. This alone is
- 11:36Speaker 1: enough to make you be careful about who you attack,
- 11:43Speaker 1: because you can inadvertently be attacking Jesus fighting people and
- 11:55Speaker 1: get knocked over because you didn't even realize who he
- 12:00Speaker 1: was fooling with. Saul has no idea that it is
- 12:07Speaker 1: Jesus that he is persecuting. Anytime you get in the
- 12:12Speaker 1: way of God's purpose with your opinion, your opinion does
- 12:20Speaker 1: not equate to God's purpose. God has a purpose. And
- 12:25Speaker 1: when God has a purpose, your opinion don't amount to
- 12:29Speaker 1: God's purpose. And if you put your opinion in the
- 12:32Speaker 1: way of God's purpose, God's gonna knock it over. It
- 12:40Speaker 1: is Jesus who loud persecuted. And the Bible said that
- 12:45Speaker 1: when Saul humbled himself that he when he got up,
- 12:49Speaker 1: he saw no man. So watch, watch, watches, because you
- 12:53Speaker 1: got to see this. This is a radical This is
- 12:56Speaker 1: a radical fight out here on the road to Damascus
- 13:00Speaker 1: between a belligerent individual who is courageous enough to snatch
- 13:06Speaker 1: people out of their house and drag them back to Jerusalem,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and a God who don't care nothing about his personality says,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I will come against you. I don't care how tough
- 13:18Speaker 1: you think you are, and knocked him right over. It
- 13:21Speaker 1: reminds me of Jacob being on penial and how he
- 13:24Speaker 1: comes to penial, and how God dealt with him and
- 13:28Speaker 1: wrestled with him and brought him down and changed everything
- 13:33Speaker 1: he thought about himself, his name, his destiny, his background.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Jacob had that kind of radical conversion. There are some
- 13:47Speaker 1: people in this room that had a radical conversion. God
- 13:50Speaker 1: just came into your life. You weren't planning for it,
- 13:54Speaker 1: you weren't expecting it, You had no intentions of doing it.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Some of y'all used to talk about church folk, never
- 14:01Speaker 1: thinking in your life that you would end up clapping
- 14:03Speaker 1: your hands and jumping around in church today. Can we
- 14:06Speaker 1: be real for a minute. Some of you never thought
- 14:09Speaker 1: you'd be in the partner's house, and here you are
- 14:12Speaker 1: sitting in the part of his house clapping your hand
- 14:15Speaker 1: because God did something radical in your life to turn
- 14:18Speaker 1: you around. Glory to God, Glory to God. Glory to God,
- 14:23Speaker 1: Glory to God. Some of you never thought you belonged
- 14:25Speaker 1: to a big church. You said, I don't like big churches.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I don't like being in crowd. But God has a
- 14:30Speaker 1: way of knocking you off of your beach and sending
- 14:33Speaker 1: you in a completely different direction. He said, anybody that
- 14:37Speaker 1: can be real in here and be honest, radical, a
- 14:42Speaker 1: radical converge, a radical converse, a radical converg. We don't
- 14:53Speaker 1: use the word conversion much in church. We don't talk
- 14:57Speaker 1: about conversion, and we don't talk about conviction. It used
- 15:03Speaker 1: to be in the church they talked about conviction. People
- 15:06Speaker 1: would come to the altar convicted. Now they come to
- 15:09Speaker 1: the altar taking pictures. Now people come to the altar
- 15:16Speaker 1: facetiming you and doing Facebook life. You had the altar
- 15:22Speaker 1: supposed to be looking for Jesus and you think you're
- 15:26Speaker 1: a film producer. But when conviction gets a hold of
- 15:30Speaker 1: your life, you cut your camera off and lay down
- 15:34Speaker 1: on the altar with tears running down your face because
- 15:37Speaker 1: you've had a radical encounter with God. I'm not talking
- 15:40Speaker 1: about coming up to the altar because your dress is cute.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm not coming up to the altar because you want
- 15:45Speaker 1: a picture to take home to show your friends who
- 15:48Speaker 1: were there. You don't come to see me, You come
- 15:51Speaker 1: to see Jesus. You don't come to see people. You
- 15:54Speaker 1: come to see Jesus. You don't come because you're a
- 15:57Speaker 1: film producer. You come to see Jesus parade. I can converge.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Hold it up. I want all the folks who got
- 16:09Speaker 1: convicted about your life and your mess and your stuff
- 16:12Speaker 1: and the way you live, to jump up on your
- 16:15Speaker 1: feet and just fair witness that there's still some conviction
- 16:18Speaker 1: left in the church. Conviction about sin, conviction about evil,
- 16:23Speaker 1: conviction about wicked. There still exists a convicting Holy Spirit.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It's not just a dancing holy spirit. There's a convicting
- 16:32Speaker 1: Holy spirit. There's a holy spirit that will knock you
- 16:34Speaker 1: off your beasts, bring you down to your knees, make
- 16:40Speaker 1: you surrender, make you sell out. There's a convicting Holy
- 16:43Speaker 1: Spirit that will make you walk away from people you
- 16:46Speaker 1: thought you couldn't live without. A convicting holy spirit that
- 16:50Speaker 1: will disrupt you, that will change your life, that will
- 16:53Speaker 1: make you uncomfortable with stuff you like. A convicting Holy
- 16:57Speaker 1: Spirit that will come into your life to you about
- 17:00Speaker 1: your nasty sitting for a way. I convicting holy spirit
- 17:04Speaker 1: that will bring you down to your knees and make
- 17:06Speaker 1: you surrender to God and say yes. To God. I
- 17:10Speaker 1: don't care how long you've been doing it. And because
- 17:18Speaker 1: we have little conviction, we have little conversion. Because you
- 17:24Speaker 1: can't have true conversion until you have true conviction. Glory
- 17:29Speaker 1: to God. I can't make you be convicted. I can't
- 17:32Speaker 1: talk you into being convicted. You have to have an
- 17:35Speaker 1: encounter with God that shows you yourself. And all of
- 17:42Speaker 1: a sudden you see him like you've never seen him before.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Who is it? It's Jesus, whom thou persecuted. And he
- 17:50Speaker 1: shows up as light. Jesus shows up as light. In
- 17:59Speaker 1: him was light, and the life was the light of men.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Jesus shows up as light. Stop making choices in the dark.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Jesus shows up as light. He illuminates situations. He'll show
- 18:16Speaker 1: you perspectives. See the problem. Now all the prophets can
- 18:20Speaker 1: see everybody but themselves. I'm a little bit leery on
- 18:28Speaker 1: people who know what you ought to do but don't
- 18:30Speaker 1: know what they ought to do. How come you can
- 18:32Speaker 1: see my life and you can't see your life. How
- 18:34Speaker 1: come you can see my child but you can't see
- 18:36Speaker 1: your child. There you are talking about my child. Your
- 18:39Speaker 1: child was out there with my child? Shut up? Did
- 18:49Speaker 1: I say that out loud. Well, I did. I said
- 18:53Speaker 1: it out loud. I said it out loud. I said
- 18:56Speaker 1: it out loud. I said it out loud. He had
- 18:59Speaker 1: a moment with God. I'm going to talk to you
- 19:02Speaker 1: about four things. I'm gonna talk about the moment, the misfit,
- 19:06Speaker 1: the messenger, and the message. The moment, the moment, the moment,
- 19:13Speaker 1: the moment. It's a moment. It's a moment. That's how
- 19:20Speaker 1: salvation reaches you. It's a moment, the moment, the misfit,
- 19:26Speaker 1: the messenger, and the message. He had a moment with God,
- 19:33Speaker 1: a moment with God that disrupted everything he knew about himself.
- 19:39Speaker 1: He was of the tribe of Benjamin. He knew that
- 19:42Speaker 1: about himself. He was a Pharisee. He was a Pharisee,
- 19:48Speaker 1: the most conservative group. He was a Pharisee. Concerning the law.
- 19:54Speaker 1: He was zealous, he was committed to what he believed,
- 20:00Speaker 1: lived all over his life up under the law, and
- 20:04Speaker 1: in one moment, it was all disrupted. Do you know,
- 20:09Speaker 1: I don't care how long you've been in a religion.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I don't care how long you've been following an idea.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I don't care how many generations it's been in your family.
- 20:17Speaker 1: One moment with Jesus can radically revolutionize your life. Somebody
- 20:23Speaker 1: listening at me, you're trying to hold on to your
- 20:26Speaker 1: traditions and get a little bit of Jesus. And you
- 20:29Speaker 1: like some of the stuff Jesus said, and you think
- 20:32Speaker 1: that religion as a smorgast. Boy, I have a coup
- 20:34Speaker 1: of this and a little bit of that and a
- 20:36Speaker 1: little bit of the other, and I'll mix it all
- 20:38Speaker 1: up together. Me and God got my own thing. No,
- 20:41Speaker 1: if you encountered Jesus, you got to give up everything
- 20:45Speaker 1: you encountered before and walk away from it. That's why
- 20:49Speaker 1: Paul said, I counted all has tongue, everything, I knew, everything,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I learned, everything I lived for. I had a radical
- 20:57Speaker 1: moment with God that changed my value system. My values
- 21:07Speaker 1: have been misaligned. And all of a sudden, Paul, who
- 21:13Speaker 1: was leading men, ends up being led by the men
- 21:17Speaker 1: he was leading, and they had to lead him because
- 21:20Speaker 1: he was blind. Because God said, I'm gonna shut your
- 21:24Speaker 1: eyes till you get this right. I'm gonta shut you
- 21:28Speaker 1: down till you get this right. I'm gonna shut up
- 21:31Speaker 1: your finances till you get it right. I'm gonna shut
- 21:34Speaker 1: up your strength until you get it right. God has
- 21:37Speaker 1: a habit of shutting you down till you get it right,
- 21:40Speaker 1: especially when you're stubborn, especially when your heart headed, especially
- 21:44Speaker 1: when you like to fight. God knows how to shut
- 21:47Speaker 1: you down. He said, I'm gonna bring you to a
- 21:49Speaker 1: place of vulnerability where you're gonna need the people that
- 21:52Speaker 1: you used to lead, and they're gonna have to lead
- 21:55Speaker 1: you as I bring you into the truth some moment.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It was some moment to change the rest of the
- 22:04Speaker 1: moments for the next two thousand years, and God didn't
- 22:10Speaker 1: trust no evangelist to do it. He appeared unto Saul
- 22:17Speaker 1: on the road to the maxis Now. Part of the
- 22:19Speaker 1: criteria of being an apostle is to be an eyewitness
- 22:23Speaker 1: to the resurrection, and Saul wasn't at the tomb. So
- 22:28Speaker 1: Jesus did a special appearance. Oh God, God will do
- 22:36Speaker 1: a special appearance. He'll come in your room, He'll come
- 22:38Speaker 1: in your hotel, he'll come in the club, he'll come
- 22:41Speaker 1: in the bar. God will do a special appearance. He'll
- 22:44Speaker 1: come right where you are and just shut Oh, read
- 22:50Speaker 1: to God. Somebody holler. He shot up. He showed up
- 22:55Speaker 1: in my life. I wasn't planning to get saved. He
- 22:59Speaker 1: showed up when I came back to the club. I
- 23:02Speaker 1: went to Columbus. I brought two sets of clothes. I said,
- 23:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to the convocation and at night, I'm
- 23:07Speaker 1: going to the club. I never got to use the
- 23:10Speaker 1: sucond set because he shot up. I had packed all
- 23:21Speaker 1: my sharp stuff too. I was gonna be clean, baby,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I was gonna be clean. I put a couple of
- 23:27Speaker 1: suits in there. You know, give God a nod. How
- 23:31Speaker 1: you doing, Jesus, Yeah, I'm going to the club, creick
- 23:38Speaker 1: change out to church. Never made it to the club
- 23:48Speaker 1: because he shot up. Next thing I know, I'm walking
- 23:53Speaker 1: down now with tears running down my face. Mother Macassle
- 23:58Speaker 1: singing all of my life. I'll say yes Lord, and
- 24:00Speaker 1: I'm crying in an offering, coming back to the Lord.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Have you had a moment with Jesus or do you
- 24:11Speaker 1: just go to church? Have you had a moment with Jesus?
- 24:18Speaker 1: Or is there a nice looking girl in his church
- 24:21Speaker 1: and you're coming over here because you're trying to convince
- 24:23Speaker 1: her that you you and Jesus are you cool? We're cool?
- 24:27Speaker 1: I'm could give Jesus a nod there. It's really you
- 24:31Speaker 1: I'm out to. You can experience the part's house and
- 24:37Speaker 1: not experience Jesus. You can experience me and not experience Jesus.
- 24:43Speaker 1: If you have a moment with Jesus, it will radically
- 24:47Speaker 1: change your perspectives, your attitude. And look at how look
- 24:52Speaker 1: at how how Jesus wrecked everything that Saul's life was
- 24:57Speaker 1: built on it suddenly and one moment it's gone. You
- 25:02Speaker 1: can't be a member of the sand heedron and preach Jesus.
- 25:07Speaker 1: You can't be a pharisee and preach Jesus. You can't
- 25:13Speaker 1: be zealous concerning the law and teach grace. Wow. It
- 25:20Speaker 1: changed his head, It changed his identity, It changed his personhood,
- 25:26Speaker 1: It changed everything about him. He wi God wiped the
- 25:30Speaker 1: sleep clean, completely clean. This is why you hear Paul
- 25:36Speaker 1: saying over I profess to know nothing but Christ and
- 25:40Speaker 1: him crucified. He is not going to fall into the
- 25:43Speaker 1: trap of thinking he's smart again. He's spoke in five
- 25:48Speaker 1: different languages and he says, I am a fool for Christ,
- 25:55Speaker 1: God what I'm saying. And he has a moment with
- 26:01Speaker 1: God alone, with nobody there but the men who were
- 26:05Speaker 1: with him, and they're leading him. They're leading him into Damascus.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And this is not how he planned to go into Damascus.
- 26:13Speaker 1: He didn't plan to come into Damascus blind being led
- 26:17Speaker 1: by men. He planned to come into Damascus straw attacking men,
- 26:24Speaker 1: snatching women out of the house. But it doesn't always
- 26:28Speaker 1: end up like you thought. Just because you think something
- 26:33Speaker 1: right now doesn't make it true. He comes into Damascus helpless.
- 26:43Speaker 1: The powerful man is now helpless, blind, groping, depending on
- 26:51Speaker 1: them to lead him. And God tells him to go
- 26:55Speaker 1: to a man he doesn't even know, nay Man Anius.
- 27:00Speaker 1: And there he is on a street called street doesn't
- 27:04Speaker 1: even know anonyusis address. Y'all, don't hear what I'm saying.
- 27:10Speaker 1: And Antonius, when God tells Anonius to pray for Saul,
- 27:16Speaker 1: he says, are you serious? Or Saul of Tarsus? You
- 27:22Speaker 1: want me to pray for him? You want me to
- 27:25Speaker 1: go pray for him. See, we get in these cliques,
- 27:31Speaker 1: and sometimes we won't pray for people because they're not
- 27:33Speaker 1: in our clique. I'm not praying for no democrat, I'm
- 27:40Speaker 1: not praying for no Republican. I'm not praying for no
- 27:43Speaker 1: white folks. I'm not praying for no black folks. I
- 27:47Speaker 1: went through something. You'll know what I went through. I
- 27:48Speaker 1: don't care what you went through when you was a child.
- 27:54Speaker 1: God will humble you down because God is not promise
- 28:01Speaker 1: to always use who looks like you, votes like you,
- 28:05Speaker 1: dresses like you to bless you. God uses whoever he
- 28:14Speaker 1: wants to use. He don't meet with you. He doesn't
- 28:17Speaker 1: do a poll, he doesn't do a census. He doesn't
- 28:20Speaker 1: meet with the committee. He doesn't need board approval. When
- 28:23Speaker 1: God gets ready to snatch it or y'all got quiet.
- 28:26Speaker 1: When God gets ready to snatch somebody, he will snatch somebody.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And and I just doesn't want to be seen with Saul.
- 28:37Speaker 1: It's bad for his brand, it's bad for his reputation,
- 28:44Speaker 1: it could be bad for his life. And yet God says,
- 28:52Speaker 1: he prayeth now, there ought not be nothing that supersedes
- 28:59Speaker 1: the command of God in your life. When God says, forgive, forgive,
- 29:08Speaker 1: When God says let it go, let it go. When
- 29:11Speaker 1: God says it'll all be over in the morning, It'll
- 29:14Speaker 1: all be over in the morning. When God says we've
- 29:17Speaker 1: been made, do it for a night, but joy comes
- 29:20Speaker 1: in the morning. He don't ask you how you feel
- 29:23Speaker 1: about it it. Well, Lord, I just don't feel like
- 29:28Speaker 1: and I don't feel like this morning. It don't feel
- 29:31Speaker 1: like morning to me. Shut up. If God says this morning,
- 29:34Speaker 1: this morning, it may still be dark outside, but this morning.
- 29:37Speaker 1: You do know that morning starts in the dark. When
- 29:40Speaker 1: God says this morning, it's morning. So he wants you
- 29:43Speaker 1: to rejoice like this morning. He wants you to shout
- 29:46Speaker 1: like this morning. He wants you to move like this morning,
- 29:49Speaker 1: and that anias, He wants you to go down to
- 29:52Speaker 1: a street called straight and pray for a man who
- 29:56Speaker 1: was coming to kill you. Cord of us, how do
- 30:06Speaker 1: you pray for a man who is coming to kill you,
- 30:15Speaker 1: a man you have art against. That's why God won't
- 30:20Speaker 1: accept your gift if you have malice in your heart.
- 30:26Speaker 1: He said, leave your gift at the altar and reconcile
- 30:30Speaker 1: yourself with your brother. Because whatever they did, it ain't
- 30:34Speaker 1: worth you losing your authority with God. Whatever they said,
- 30:39Speaker 1: it ain't worth you losing your power with God. No
- 30:42Speaker 1: matter how it hurts you, it doesn't matter. You still
- 30:45Speaker 1: got to do what you got to do. And if
- 30:48Speaker 1: God says do it, you gotta do it. See we
- 30:50Speaker 1: don't use this word, any word, the old word obedience. Obedience,
- 30:54Speaker 1: it is better than sacrificing. Obedience is better than sacrificing.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I appreciate whatever you sould, but obedience, it's better than sacrifice.
- 31:02Speaker 1: You can't give your way, it does getting a license
- 31:05Speaker 1: to do wrong. So Annius obeys God and he goes
- 31:17Speaker 1: down there and he lays hands on the man who
- 31:20Speaker 1: was going to lay hands on him. Can you do it? No? Serious,
- 31:32Speaker 1: can you do it? Can you lay hands on the
- 31:35Speaker 1: person who was coming to hurt you? Anonius lays hands
- 31:49Speaker 1: on Saul, who was going to lay hands on him,
- 31:54Speaker 1: and the power of his obedience costs a scape to
- 32:01Speaker 1: fall from Saul's eyes. I don't know who I'm preaching to,
- 32:06Speaker 1: but I'm talking to somebody that if you would just
- 32:09Speaker 1: do what God says do and stop wrestling with your
- 32:12Speaker 1: ego and your pride and to humble yourself the power
- 32:17Speaker 1: you would have the scales fall from his eyes, and
- 32:24Speaker 1: suddenly Saul can see and he goes from having a
- 32:30Speaker 1: moment with God to a moment as a misfit. I
- 32:37Speaker 1: want you to feel this. How can he go back
- 32:44Speaker 1: to the Sanhedrin court and tell him about Jesus because
- 32:50Speaker 1: he is no longer one of them. There is no
- 32:54Speaker 1: seat for him amongst a sanhedron. He's lost all that,
- 33:01Speaker 1: He's lost all credibility with thehedron because he is taking
- 33:06Speaker 1: on this Jesus philosophy that they hated. They have empowered
- 33:15Speaker 1: him to attack what he has become. So he she
- 33:28Speaker 1: got medicle, so he can't. He can't go back. There
- 33:34Speaker 1: is a point in God. It's not that you don't
- 33:44Speaker 1: want to go back. It's not that you ain't tempted
- 33:48Speaker 1: to go back. It ain't that your flesh don't want
- 33:51Speaker 1: to go back. But there is a point in God
- 33:54Speaker 1: where you cannot go back. Not somebody's word watching right now.
- 34:02Speaker 1: You cannot go back. You can't go back and undo
- 34:08Speaker 1: what God has done in your life. You can't unknow
- 34:12Speaker 1: what you know once you know who Jesus he is.
- 34:15Speaker 1: You can't unknow that. I don't care how you drink,
- 34:18Speaker 1: how much weed you smoke, how high you get, I
- 34:22Speaker 1: don't care how many light dances you get. Once you
- 34:25Speaker 1: know Jesus, there's a mark on your life that something
- 34:30Speaker 1: is always gonna be missing until you say yes, you
- 34:34Speaker 1: can't go back. The problem, however, is not just said
- 34:47Speaker 1: he can't go back because I can leave one group
- 34:51Speaker 1: if I connect with the other, I can. I can,
- 34:57Speaker 1: I can I can be rejected by this group if
- 35:00Speaker 1: I'm accepted by the other. The problem with Saul is
- 35:05Speaker 1: when he comes to the Apostles, they don't believe in him.
- 35:15Speaker 1: They don't believe him. They don't believe in him. They
- 35:21Speaker 1: don't like him, they don't accept him, and so he
- 35:27Speaker 1: has to accept being a misfit. You have to accept
- 35:43Speaker 1: being a misfit. You can change your hair, you can
- 35:49Speaker 1: change your clothes, you can change your style, you can
- 35:52Speaker 1: change your walk. They still not gonna like you, because
- 35:55Speaker 1: when God has called you out, you can't go back.
- 36:00Speaker 1: You have to accept being a misfit. Look at somebody
- 36:04Speaker 1: saying I'm different. I'm different. You ain't never seen nobody
- 36:08Speaker 1: like me before. You're never gonna see anybody like me again.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I'm different. And after years and years of low self
- 36:15Speaker 1: esteem and crying about it, I'm finally starting to accept
- 36:20Speaker 1: that I'm different. I'm cool with it. I'm okay with it.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I can live with it. I understand that I've been
- 36:27Speaker 1: trained in it. I learned how to be a misfit.
- 36:30Speaker 1: It doesn't matter that you don't like me, and it
- 36:32Speaker 1: doesn't matter that you don't believe in me. I can
- 36:35Speaker 1: stand on my own because I had an encounter with Jesus.
- 36:47Speaker 1: And so when Saul, who is now called Paul, starts
- 36:51Speaker 1: to minister, he ministers from the place of a misfit.
- 36:58Speaker 1: All my misfit people hear me. Good, The reason you
- 37:04Speaker 1: have the annointing is because you're a misfit. The reason
- 37:10Speaker 1: you have your anointing is because you're a misfit. Had
- 37:14Speaker 1: they accepted you, you wouldn't have had the annoyingty. Had
- 37:19Speaker 1: they embraced you, you wouldn't have had the annoyingty. Because
- 37:23Speaker 1: Paul was a misfit. He gives us most of the
- 37:27Speaker 1: New Testament epistles because he does not fit in with
- 37:32Speaker 1: either groove. He's an outcast on both sides. But when
- 37:36Speaker 1: you're an outcast with men, you are in cast with God.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Or do you hear what I'm saying. I'm talking to
- 37:44Speaker 1: somebody I don't even know who it is. You are
- 37:47Speaker 1: a misfit. Stop fighting it, Stop changing yourself, stop redoing
- 37:52Speaker 1: your philosophy, Stop trying to be what everybody else wants
- 37:55Speaker 1: you to be. You were meant to be a misfit.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Your Savior was a misfit. It. The stone that the
- 38:01Speaker 1: builders rejected has been made the chief corner store. Stop
- 38:06Speaker 1: crying about it, Stop worrying about it, Stop being frustrated
- 38:09Speaker 1: about it. You don't want to be in with them.
- 38:12Speaker 1: God saved you from being in with them. He meant
- 38:16Speaker 1: for you to be different. Look at your neigh and
- 38:18Speaker 1: introduce him. Say hello, I'm different. Yeah, my name is different.
- 38:24Speaker 1: My name is that, my walk is different, my talk
- 38:27Speaker 1: is different. The way I think it is different, the
- 38:30Speaker 1: way I believe is different, the way I flow is different.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I understand it. If you don't like me. Everybody can't
- 38:37Speaker 1: walk with a misfit. You have to be a misfit
- 38:40Speaker 1: yourself to understand another misfit when you see it. I
- 38:44Speaker 1: want some misfits in this room to give God a pray.
- 38:48Speaker 1: You don't fit in with your family, you don't fit
- 38:51Speaker 1: in with your community, you don't fit in with your neighborhood.
- 38:54Speaker 1: You just some misfit for Jesus. Often it takes half
- 39:09Speaker 1: your life to accept being a misfit, because we are
- 39:16Speaker 1: always advertised, marketed, modeled, and promoted fitting in, and it
- 39:27Speaker 1: hurts to not quite be either one. It's lonely. It's
- 39:45Speaker 1: lonely being a misfit. When you are a misfit, you
- 39:52Speaker 1: are misunderstood. There are ques. You are being arrogant, their
- 39:59Speaker 1: ques You are being high minded. They accuse you, we
- 40:03Speaker 1: used to say, are being such a much. They accuse
- 40:06Speaker 1: you of walking around with your head up in the air.
- 40:08Speaker 1: They accuse you of forgetting where you came from. Come on, misfits,
- 40:13Speaker 1: back me up on this. Being a misfit means that
- 40:19Speaker 1: you have to learn to be okay with being misunderstood.
- 40:25Speaker 1: That ain't easy. That ain't easy. That ain't easy. It
- 40:35Speaker 1: was not easy to be the apostle Paul. It was
- 40:39Speaker 1: not easy to be shunned by your future and rejected
- 40:48Speaker 1: by your past. It'll make you pray harder because you
- 40:55Speaker 1: don't have nobody to depend on but the Lord. It'll
- 41:04Speaker 1: make you get up and come to church on Sunday morning.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I don't care how cold it is outside. You wrapped
- 41:11Speaker 1: up and came to church because this is the only
- 41:14Speaker 1: place you fit. Not the building, the presence of the Lord,
- 41:19Speaker 1: the glory of the Lord, the annoying of the Lord.
- 41:22Speaker 1: This is a place where we feed the misfits, Hey, misfits.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Dinner is served, and the Minus says that he needed me.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Paul started preaching immediately. Ain't that something? Immediately he starts
- 42:09Speaker 1: preaching in the synagogue. He didn't come back to the
- 42:15Speaker 1: synagogue to be accepted. He knows they think he's crazy,
- 42:22Speaker 1: but he's preaching in the synagogue. He has to fight
- 42:29Speaker 1: all of his life, but in between the fights he's
- 42:35Speaker 1: writing most of the New Testament. In between fights. He
- 42:42Speaker 1: came to Listra and they threw rocks at him, and
- 42:47Speaker 1: they stoned him till his head was busted and his
- 42:51Speaker 1: back was bleeding, and they drug him out the city
- 42:54Speaker 1: as half dead. But as soon as he woke up,
- 43:01Speaker 1: he got in between the fight and started preaching again,
- 43:05Speaker 1: saying stuff like, there is therefore now no condemnation to
- 43:10Speaker 1: them that are in Christ Jesus who walk no longer
- 43:13Speaker 1: after the flesh, but after the spirit. If any man
- 43:19Speaker 1: be in Christ, he is a new creature. All old
- 43:23Speaker 1: things have passed away, the whole old things have become new.
- 43:28Speaker 1: For we know if this earthly house or tabernacle shall
- 43:32Speaker 1: be diusol, we have another building eternally in the heavens.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Having this assurance that God, who has begun a good
- 43:43Speaker 1: work in you shall perform it unto the day of
- 43:46Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. I want to talk to everybody in here
- 43:50Speaker 1: that's been in the fight, out to fight, out to fight,
- 43:53Speaker 1: the Lord said, in between the fights, preached the gospel,
- 43:57Speaker 1: lay hands on the sikh, blinded eyes, rebuilt the devil,
- 44:03Speaker 1: and keep on going to put him on the boat.
- 44:07Speaker 1: And the boat fell apart. He survived, the ship wrecked,
- 44:11Speaker 1: and the snake bid him. But in between the fights,
- 44:15Speaker 1: he kept on telling them, Jesus is Lord to the
- 44:19Speaker 1: glory of God. I wish I had a hundred people
- 44:23Speaker 1: that would praise God in between the fight. You're steal God.
- 44:37Speaker 1: You're steal God. The ship has wrecked, but your steal God.
- 44:44Speaker 1: The snake has bidden me, but your steal God. The
- 44:49Speaker 1: rocks made me bleed, but your steal God. See it,
- 44:53Speaker 1: ain't no praise till you're praising God with blood running
- 44:58Speaker 1: down your face. Ain't no praise. Tell your praise of
- 45:02Speaker 1: God in the middle of rejection and pain. Let the
- 45:06Speaker 1: redeemed of the Lord say, soul. I'll give you thirty
- 45:11Speaker 1: seconds to give God a praise like you lost your mind.
- 45:34Speaker 1: You got ten seconds to open your mouth, every misfit
- 45:38Speaker 1: in the building, every misfit on line, every misfit in
- 45:43Speaker 1: the mouth of that you got five suconds in your mouth,
- 45:48Speaker 1: and give God some praise. And settle in on being disliked.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Settle in, I'm being controversial, settle in, I'm being mired.
- 46:00Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 46:12Speaker 1: This is why it's okay said, this is this is
- 46:17Speaker 1: why it's okay to be a misfit. Because number three,
- 46:22Speaker 1: you're the messenger, and you can't be the messenger if
- 46:30Speaker 1: you fit in. That's what's wrong. Now. We got too
- 46:36Speaker 1: many folks trying to fit in, too many preachers trying
- 46:40Speaker 1: to fit in. If you're gonna be the messenger, you
- 46:45Speaker 1: gotta be willing to be the misfit glory towd. You
- 46:49Speaker 1: can't be common with the people that you're trying to lead.
- 46:55Speaker 1: That's why we don't have parents no more, because they're
- 46:57Speaker 1: too busy trying to be friends with their kid. You're
- 47:00Speaker 1: so busy trying to meet friends that the kid ain't
- 47:03Speaker 1: got no parent. And now if you're not a friend,
- 47:06Speaker 1: you're not a parent. The devil is a lie. You
- 47:08Speaker 1: gotta understand that. You gotta be a misfit. You gotta
- 47:11Speaker 1: be a misfit if you're gonna win this battle. If
- 47:14Speaker 1: you're gonna be a boss, you gotta be a misfit.
- 47:17Speaker 1: You can still be nice, but you ain't got no
- 47:19Speaker 1: business chasing it behind people trying to make them like you.
- 47:23Speaker 1: This ain't no election. Your paycheck voted me boss. I'm
- 47:27Speaker 1: the boss. You can't cash the check and not recognize
- 47:35Speaker 1: who signed it. Come on, we might as well clean
- 47:43Speaker 1: it up in here. Look at somebody say clean it up.
- 47:48Speaker 1: You are the messenger. You are the messenger. You are
- 47:52Speaker 1: the messenger. I don't care whether you're a preacher or not.
- 47:55Speaker 1: You're the messenger. You still a witness. You're a soul winner.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Stop trying to be an undercover agent on your job.
- 48:02Speaker 1: You don't want nobody to know that you saved so
- 48:05Speaker 1: that you still got permission to live out your own life.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Go ahead and be a messenger. Start praying for people
- 48:12Speaker 1: on break. You're a messenger. God didn't put you on
- 48:14Speaker 1: the job to make money. He puts you on the
- 48:17Speaker 1: job to change lives. You could have made money anywhere.
- 48:22Speaker 1: You're on an assignment. You're a messenger. You got a message.
- 48:26Speaker 1: You're on a mission. That's why the enemy keeps fighting you.
- 48:30Speaker 1: It's because you're a messenger. He wouldn't try to shut
- 48:32Speaker 1: you down if you didn't have something to say. The
- 48:36Speaker 1: reason he's attacking you is because you're a messenger. I
- 48:40Speaker 1: want every messenger in here to cop your hands. I'm
- 48:43Speaker 1: a messenger. I'm a messenger. I'm a messenger. I'm a messenger.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I'm a messenger. I'm a messenger. But messengers get fucked
- 48:58Speaker 1: with being misfits because being a messenger means saying yes
- 49:10Speaker 1: to being a misfit. So when the enemy wants to
- 49:15Speaker 1: shut down your message, he'll show you how bad you
- 49:19Speaker 1: don't fit. Am I preaching writer? I say, am I
- 49:29Speaker 1: preaching writer? You are a messenger. Most of what we
- 49:37Speaker 1: know about church, about the fivefold ministry, about the resurrection
- 49:43Speaker 1: from the dead, about the mystery of the Godhead, about
- 49:47Speaker 1: the peace that passes all understanding, about having peace with God,
- 49:53Speaker 1: about no condemnation. Most of what we know about the
- 49:56Speaker 1: resurrection came from Paul, not Matthias. Stop worrying about who
- 50:05Speaker 1: they picked. God picked you. God pigged you. I'm gonna
- 50:18Speaker 1: say it again. God pigged you. I'm gonna say it again,
- 50:23Speaker 1: God pig you, and you don't have to be eighty,
- 50:26Speaker 1: and you don't have to be seventy, and you don't
- 50:28Speaker 1: have to be sixty. You don't have to be fifty.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Jesus started ministering when he was twelve because God pigged you.
- 50:37Speaker 1: You have to understand that God picks you, and it's
- 50:40Speaker 1: not because your past is in alignment. It's because you
- 50:52Speaker 1: had a unique moment with God. And stop being frustrated
- 50:57Speaker 1: because you can't teach people how to have a moment
- 51:02Speaker 1: that they didn't have. Oh God, that's so good, Thank
- 51:10Speaker 1: you Jesus. I'm gonna watch this on YouTube again myself.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Some of you that are messages are frustrated because in
- 51:18Speaker 1: your loneliness, you are trying to make disciples out of
- 51:22Speaker 1: people who do not have your moment. And if they
- 51:29Speaker 1: did not have your moment, they cannot have your mantle.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Let me tell it to the people over here. If
- 51:40Speaker 1: they did not have your moment, they cannot have your mantle.
- 51:45Speaker 1: That's why Elijah told Elisha, if you see me when
- 51:49Speaker 1: I'm taken up, you can have my mantle. You can't
- 51:53Speaker 1: get my mantle just because you want it, just because
- 51:56Speaker 1: you think you got a write to it just because
- 51:58Speaker 1: you gave me a love offering. You can't buy me
- 52:01Speaker 1: off and get this until you've been knocked off your beast,
- 52:04Speaker 1: until you've had an encounter with God, until you walked
- 52:08Speaker 1: around blind, and until you're willing to be a misfit.
- 52:16Speaker 1: You can't teach people how to be what they didn't see.
- 52:24Speaker 1: So forgive yourself for not being able to reduplicate yourself
- 52:35Speaker 1: when Jesus picks out twelve to say, y'all pull it
- 52:38Speaker 1: at me. Now, when Jesus picks out twelve disciples, you
- 52:41Speaker 1: know the first thing he tells them, take up your
- 52:43Speaker 1: cross and follow me because you're gonna hear me teach
- 52:49Speaker 1: all you want to, but you're not gonna get my
- 52:52Speaker 1: mantle off of what I teach. You're gonna get my
- 52:56Speaker 1: mantle off of what I suffer. So the invitation is
- 53:04Speaker 1: until you have a shared experience, you cannot receive my
- 53:14Speaker 1: spirit without receiving my cross. Most of us are stuck
- 53:24Speaker 1: in the misfit stage, hindering our message because we are
- 53:30Speaker 1: still grieving over not fitting And until you resolve and
- 53:42Speaker 1: say yes not only to God, but yes to not
- 53:45Speaker 1: quite fitting in with either group, Yes, to being peculiar,
- 53:53Speaker 1: Yes to thinking different, Yes to having a flow that's
- 54:00Speaker 1: different from other people's flow. You will never discover your message,
- 54:08Speaker 1: your message, which is your purpose. Nomber for your message
- 54:15Speaker 1: because you are a messenger. Your purpose is predicated on
- 54:21Speaker 1: your message, not your emotions. God didn't call you for
- 54:32Speaker 1: your feelings. He called you for your message because you
- 54:42Speaker 1: are a messenger to a dying world. To model what
- 54:54Speaker 1: love looks like, what strength looks like, what looks like,
- 55:02Speaker 1: what diligence looks like, what commitment looks like, what forty
- 55:08Speaker 1: two looks like? In between fights, you got to keep
- 55:13Speaker 1: teaching people how to be survivors, how to walk alone.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Sometimes am I helping anybody? Let me tell you something.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Most of the divorces that we're having we should have
- 55:39Speaker 1: never had because we are trying to get something out
- 55:46Speaker 1: of marriage that it is not designed to give you.
- 55:56Speaker 1: You're taking marriage for therapy, and when you don't get
- 56:04Speaker 1: therapy out of it, you get out of it. If
- 56:09Speaker 1: you want therapy, go to a therapist. It is not
- 56:16Speaker 1: my job to fix you. It is my job to
- 56:21Speaker 1: love you. The reason I can't fix you is that
- 56:30Speaker 1: I'm trying to fix me, and it is wrong of
- 56:38Speaker 1: me to expect you to fix me, because whatever's broke
- 56:45Speaker 1: in me was broke when you bought me. I'm the
- 56:49Speaker 1: house you bought as is. I'm a fixer upper. The
- 56:58Speaker 1: drain don't work, and the life splash on and off,
- 57:01Speaker 1: and when it rains real hard, I leak in the kitchen.
- 57:05Speaker 1: But I'm still your house shod don't hear me? And
- 57:26Speaker 1: you are angry with me over stuff I don't know
- 57:30Speaker 1: nothing about. You're trying to work out in me stuff
- 57:35Speaker 1: you had going on with your daddy. I'm trying to
- 57:38Speaker 1: work out in you stuff I had going on with
- 57:40Speaker 1: my mama that ain't even fair. You wasn't even married.
- 57:44Speaker 1: You don't even know what happened. And if I tell you, you
- 57:47Speaker 1: only get my side. And yes, I got a devil
- 57:59Speaker 1: to fight. How many people in here are honest enough
- 58:03Speaker 1: to say you got a devil to fight. That's why
- 58:08Speaker 1: I'm at church this morning because I got a devil
- 58:11Speaker 1: to fight. That's why I was clapping my hands and
- 58:15Speaker 1: praising God when you were singing, because I got a
- 58:18Speaker 1: devil to fight. That's why your job is so important,
- 58:22Speaker 1: because you helped me fight my devil. That's why I
- 58:25Speaker 1: can't cross my legs and look cute in church because
- 58:29Speaker 1: I got a devil to fight, and I came in
- 58:31Speaker 1: here this morning to get some ammunition to help me
- 58:36Speaker 1: in the fight. Because when I leave this place, I'm
- 58:39Speaker 1: going back to the front lines, and I'm gonna have
- 58:42Speaker 1: to do battle. I'm not talking about doing battle with people.
- 58:46Speaker 1: I'm talking about doing battle with me, doing battle with
- 58:49Speaker 1: my own head, doing battle with my own pain, doing
- 58:54Speaker 1: battle with my own self, sometime doing battle with my prophecy,
- 58:58Speaker 1: with my destiny. Am I ready? Can I handle it?
- 59:03Speaker 1: Can I pull it off? Am I enough? No? I'm
- 59:07Speaker 1: not enough. But with God, I'm more than enough. I
- 59:11Speaker 1: can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me. Can
- 59:17Speaker 1: I get a praise in this place? Can I get
- 59:21Speaker 1: a praise in this place? So, when Paul gets down
- 59:30Speaker 1: to the end of his life, he sends a message
- 59:34Speaker 1: to his mentee. He does not tell Timothy about all
- 59:42Speaker 1: his revelations. He does not tell Timothy about all the
- 59:48Speaker 1: places he traveled. He does not tell Timothy how he
- 59:54Speaker 1: was trained at the feet of Gamill. He does not
- 59:57Speaker 1: tell Timothy how many languages he spoke. He he does
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: not tell Timothy that he is solely responsible for the
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: gospel reaching the Greeks, that he preached the gospel on
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Mars Hill until a whole nation got saved. He does
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: not tell Timothy that it was not Peter alone that
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: brought the gospel to Rome. But that's why the shipwrecked,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: was to keep him from getting to Rome, because when
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Paul got to Rome, the whole game change and the
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: headquarters of Christianity slipped over from Jerusalem over to Rome.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: He doesn't tell him any of that. You know what
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: he tells him, I thought a good fight. Ah fought
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: a good fighter. I did it when I felt like it.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: I did it when I didn't feel like it. I
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: did it when things were going good. I did it
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: when things were going bad. I did it when I
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: was on the mountain. I did it when I was
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: in the valley. I did it when people liked me.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: I did it when people hated me. I did it
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: when they understood. I did it when they didn't understand.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I have fought a good fight. And you got to
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: learn how to clock for yourself and say I have
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: fought somebody, clopped for yourself. I fought a good fight.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: I raised them kids by myself. I'm a single mother,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: but I fought a good fight. Holly low Yah. I
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: divorced some mother, but I kept on taking care of
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: my children. I fought a good fight. I fed people
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: who didn't like me. I came to work where they
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: talked about men. I kept on going to work, even
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: though the person I trained ended up getting the job.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I should have gone, but I still came to work,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: and I fought a good fight. I want to talk
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: to some people that have been into some fights. I
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: don't want to talk to these cutie people that I
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: ain't been through nothing yet. I want to talk to
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: some real souldiers that's been in some real fights. Paul
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: tells him a time I fought, I fought. I fought
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: a good fight. I fought fights other people wouldn't even
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: take up. I fought fights I could have avoided. I
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: fought a good fight. You know what, I kept the faith? Yeah,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: sometimes that was the fight. Some see y'all think I'm
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: fighting with people. Sometimes the fight is to keep the
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I fought a good fight. I kept the faith. Wait
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: on this, here's what you've been waiting on now. Laid
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: up for me is a crown of righteousness. Didn't get
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: it when I wanted it, didn't get it where I
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: worked at it. Some stuff only God can give you.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Now laid up for me is a crown of righteousness.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: We used to sing stuff like we shall behold Him
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: or that other song. The marketplace is empty, no more
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: selling in the streets. The king is coming. We don't
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: sing about heaven right now because we got better cars.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: We don't think about heaven because we got air conditioning.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: We don't think about heaven because we got dishwashers and
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: garbage disposals and stuff like that. But the truth of
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: the Mighty is nothing you own is your crown. None
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: of it is a crown. There is a crown for
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: those of you who have fought a good And it
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: ain't down here. It ain't down here, bro, it ain't
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: down here. Why would you appreciate Because every time I
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: open up the paper, somebody else has committed suicide. You
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: know why most people commit suicide because they never got
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: the crowd. They put in the fight and they didn't
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: get the crowd. But Paul tells Timothy, now laid up
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: for me is a crown of righteousness, And not for
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: me only, but for all of those who will wait
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: his appearing, Stand to your feet. If God spoke to
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: you today, giving me some kind of praise quick teacher's
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: review is make your life count in between fights. Don't
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: survive a fight only to be in misery about an
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: old fight. You wasted your free time talking about your
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: old time. In between fights, make your life out. Do
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: something purposeful. That's what the fight was about in the
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: first place. In between fights, do what you were created
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: to do. This is a teacher's review. The power of obedience.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Understanding that sometimes you have to go against your feelings
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: and obey God and lay hands on people who were
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: trying to lay hands on you because this is not
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: your business. This is God's business you're doing. Do you
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: hear what I'm saying? Teachers Review? I want you to understand.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: You didn't choose God, God chose you. Teachers review. Fitting
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: in is overrated. Be okay with being different. Nobody writes
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: books about ordinary, only extraordinary. Be cool with it all
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: of m not all, but most of our heroes were
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: lauded after they died. If you demand payment up front,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: you are distracted from your destiny. Who am I talking
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: to when you worry about being a misfit? You put
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: your happiness in the hands of someone else, means I
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: can only be happy if you like me. That's too
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: much power to give to any clique, any group, any crowd,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: any co workers. That's too much power to give anybody.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: You gotta be cool with doing you, y'all. If the
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: joke talking about how my wife loves Christmas and she
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: got the house, you know it looked like Santa Claus
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: lived there, and uh and and the one who always
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: teasing her about it? I said, how come you ain't
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: playing your music? You know why. It ain't my thing,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: but it's hers. And if it gives you joy, turn
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: the music off. It takes a long time to stop
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: trying to change people and just love them like they are.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: It ain't nothing wrong with that, I thought, Let me
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: turn the music on, let me help, let me do something.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Stop trying to make people into you, because can we
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: be honest a minute. You ain't that happy being you,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: so why are you trying to make me be you?
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Early in the message, I used two words that I've
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: said we don't use much conversion and conviction. Conversion the
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: right to change, the right to be somebody else is important.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Don't walk yourself into situations you can't get out of,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: because your conversion is a process, and conviction is the
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: decision that I need to change directions now. I'm not sure,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: but I believe that somebody in this room will watch
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: it online. Has been knocked off your beasts, the wind
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: knocked out of you, blackout, you can't see your way clear.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: And God has disrupted your life because He's got something
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: for you that's different than where you were headed. And
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: you can be hard headed and come to him on
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: a cart lowered down through the roof, or come to
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: him in a dread disease, or you can come to
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: him now and say, Lord, I need to make some changes.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Ain't no need of me having a new year if
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: I'm not going to be a new me, even if
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I am despised, if I have to leave my click,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: my gang, even if I have to change jobs, whatever
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I have to do to fulfill what you created me
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: to do. I'm tired of fighting you. God. It's enough
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: to fight me. You know what Jesus told Uh Paul
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: that I left out. He said, it is hard for
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: you to kick against the pricks. The prick was something
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: that they put at the end of the stall to
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: stop the mule from kicking the stall trying to get away.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: It was a s our object that the more you
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: kicked against it, the more it hurt you. And when
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: God says
