- 0:00Speaker 1: You could just tell Palpatine that like his greatest enemy
- 0:03Speaker 1: isn't isn't Yoda or the spawn of like his apprentice.
- 0:07Speaker 1: But it's actually like an antique salesman, like in Chorissan.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You know, Welcome to May of the review, be with
- 0:17Speaker 1: you with Nick and Joe.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm Joe and I'm Nick, And today we are talking
- 0:22Speaker 2: about and Or season two and without of course further ado,
- 0:27Speaker 2: we're talking about and Or, which means we're also going
- 0:28Speaker 2: to talk a little bit about Rogue one, potentially not
- 0:31Speaker 2: to potentially the greatest Star Wars story ever, maybe even
- 0:37Speaker 2: more elevated after this and Or finale insane.
- 0:40Speaker 1: You know, it's funny that you're saying that, Like I
- 0:42Speaker 1: think I've heard like several people now say that their
- 0:45Speaker 1: their favorite trilogy in Star Wars now is and or
- 0:49Speaker 1: Rogue one and a New Hope. Like that's that's the
- 0:51Speaker 1: new like favorite child right now?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Or and or season one and or season two in
- 0:56Speaker 2: Rogue one.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Numbers funny like that you can make. You can play
- 1:01Speaker 1: with them however you want.
- 1:02Speaker 2: You know, honestly, that is a great point. And or
- 1:05Speaker 2: Rogue one and then a New Hope might be the
- 1:08Speaker 2: best trilogy if you didn't have to worry about like,
- 1:12Speaker 2: you know, original order and release or not. I'll that
- 1:14Speaker 2: BS well.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I think some of the argument for that is just
- 1:17Speaker 1: like how seamlessly all three of those work, from like
- 1:20Speaker 1: finale to fnale, Right, So yeah, it's I mean that's
- 1:24Speaker 1: pretty cool. How well's let's stitch together? Yeah yeah, same here.
- 1:29Speaker 1: But uh, Nick, let me let me ask you. You know,
- 1:32Speaker 1: as far as and Or we're a couple of weeks removed,
- 1:38Speaker 1: it sounds like you're already pretty jazzed up about it,
- 1:40Speaker 1: you know, like just an overall feeling that you had
- 1:44Speaker 1: walking away from and Or season two.
- 1:49Speaker 2: This was done extremely well. When it was first announced
- 1:52Speaker 2: that they were going to do three episodes at a time,
- 1:55Speaker 2: I was pissed because just from one being able to
- 1:59Speaker 2: keep up with that on a weekly basis, and then
- 2:02Speaker 2: two we do content and stuff, so that makes it
- 2:05Speaker 2: extremely difficult for us to also be like on it
- 2:08Speaker 2: and watch them all at the same time.
- 2:10Speaker 1: This is true every time Disney tells the world that
- 2:14Speaker 1: it's going to be releasing some popular show like three
- 2:18Speaker 1: or four episodes at a time, Nick calls and texts
- 2:21Speaker 1: me and just immediately rants about it, Like I agree,
- 2:24Speaker 1: it's what the hell?
- 2:25Speaker 2: But this time, Yes, this time ended up being a
- 2:28Speaker 2: little bit different. Actually, Granted, it's still really tough even
- 2:32Speaker 2: just like weekly, even if you didn't do content. It's
- 2:35Speaker 2: just really tough to like watch all three and then
- 2:38Speaker 2: because you want to have that enjoyment of talking to
- 2:40Speaker 2: people online about it regardless, right, and that means people
- 2:44Speaker 2: have to watch three episodes probably takes a few more days.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Then you only have a couple days to talk about it,
- 2:48Speaker 2: and then you have to watch three more again. It
- 2:49Speaker 2: just it's really quick. But the way they did this
- 2:52Speaker 2: particular season and Or it was really really awesome, right,
- 2:55Speaker 2: because like each section of three episodes is basically a
- 2:59Speaker 2: year difference, a year passes, And it was such an
- 3:03Speaker 2: interesting way to tell a story because like in those
- 3:06Speaker 2: sequences there are like really specific gaps and specific events
- 3:11Speaker 2: that like shape what happens at the very end of
- 3:14Speaker 2: and Or season two. And it ended up really being
- 3:18Speaker 2: a cool way to tell a story in my opinion,
- 3:20Speaker 2: and I loved it that that was and Or is
- 3:23Speaker 2: one of the best, if not the best, Star Wars
- 3:26Speaker 2: story in my opinion. After watching that, it was really good.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I definitely agree with you. I have it's for me,
- 3:35Speaker 1: it's it's definitely one of the better shows. I think
- 3:37Speaker 1: I'm probably gonna come off as a bit more critical,
- 3:40Speaker 1: not just that you I feel like the most, but overall,
- 3:44Speaker 1: like I had an amazing time with this show, and
- 3:47Speaker 1: like it was, it was done phenomenally well. Honestly, Like
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think my only real complaints about it are there's
- 3:54Speaker 1: so much detail. It's almost too much detail, and like
- 3:59Speaker 1: I feel like I sound like an old man when
- 4:01Speaker 1: I say that. But like there were there were times
- 4:03Speaker 1: where like certain characters, like I wouldn't know who I
- 4:07Speaker 1: because like we hadn't seen this character in a while,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and like their screen time was like so limited, I'd
- 4:12Speaker 1: be a little lost as to like who some characters are,
- 4:15Speaker 1: you know, especially in season two towards the end there.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But you know, all the all the heavy hitters, their
- 4:21Speaker 1: stories were really interesting. My favorite probably was Luthen.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Luthan is the he is the main hero of the
- 4:32Speaker 2: Star Wars universe in my opinion, he.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Wrote a strong word but like he is the father
- 4:37Speaker 1: of the Rebellion. I'll give you that much.
- 4:40Speaker 2: If not for Luthan, Darth Vader and the Siths win,
- 4:48Speaker 2: that's my.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, who knew that, Like, I mean, like it's it's
- 4:53Speaker 1: funny that like if you could just tell Palpatine that,
- 4:56Speaker 1: like his greatest enemy isn't isn't Yoda or the spot
- 5:00Speaker 1: of like his apprentice, but it's actually like an antique
- 5:04Speaker 1: salesman like in Chorusson, you know, like that's actually the
- 5:09Speaker 1: greatest threat to the empire he would have if he knew.
- 5:14Speaker 2: The cool part about that, or at least the Rogue
- 5:16Speaker 2: One thing is like there were some things that Andrew
- 5:21Speaker 2: does in Rogue One that immediately in my head after
- 5:24Speaker 2: we watching it, and I was like, this is this
- 5:26Speaker 2: is luthen Esque, Like and or went full circle and
- 5:33Speaker 2: is acting essentially like like luthen Wood and certain scenarios
- 5:37Speaker 2: with Jinn or so, and so I thought it was
- 5:39Speaker 2: really cool that that's the thought I had after watching
- 5:43Speaker 2: andre right, because they're creating his story basically after the fact, right,
- 5:46Speaker 2: and so they really they really did a great job
- 5:50Speaker 2: with the development of Andrew's character, with how they portrayed
- 5:54Speaker 2: Luthen and then how that all like transitioned into into
- 5:57Speaker 2: Rogue One just phenomenal.
- 5:59Speaker 1: So, Nick, tell me finale what really works for you?
- 6:02Speaker 1: And I guess, like when I say that the finale
- 6:04Speaker 1: is really three episodes, so I guess, starting really from
- 6:08Speaker 1: episode ten to twelve, what worked for you in that finale?
- 6:14Speaker 2: Oh man. So we get like the backstory for Luthen
- 6:18Speaker 2: and Clea, which I thought was really important because this
- 6:21Speaker 2: whole time we know that they've been working together, we
- 6:24Speaker 2: just don't know really, and they have like this weird
- 6:27Speaker 2: kind of relationship right where she kind of like listens
- 6:31Speaker 2: to whatever he does, but like she also is empowered
- 6:34Speaker 2: to like make her own decisions and suggestions, and so
- 6:38Speaker 2: there are always something there's like a weird tension there.
- 6:40Speaker 2: And so we get this backstory about how, like I
- 6:42Speaker 2: guess Luthen used to be like an Empire sergeant or
- 6:46Speaker 2: it was a sergeant, and he was I guess partly
- 6:51Speaker 2: responsible for her family dying. But he sees her and
- 6:55Speaker 2: essentially decides to take her in, and like this is
- 6:58Speaker 2: kind of I guess the moment where he decides that
- 7:01Speaker 2: he wants to like grow a rebellion from the bottom up,
- 7:05Speaker 2: which is kind of like a really cool origin story
- 7:07Speaker 2: in a way for their relationship and the rebellion, right,
- 7:11Speaker 2: And I thought that was like phenomenal way to give
- 7:13Speaker 2: us some information. We also find out during this time
- 7:17Speaker 2: that like this is when we first hear that like
- 7:20Speaker 2: the Empire is building a secret weapon, and of course
- 7:23Speaker 2: the secret weapon is the Death Star. This is like
- 7:25Speaker 2: the first like really proof that the energy programs lie.
- 7:30Speaker 2: And like we just got.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Ten to SI. There have been there were subtle hints. Yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 1: the Empire has like been up to something, sure, but
- 7:40Speaker 1: like all the way back in season one, Yeah, but like.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Ten through twelve is like the official like walls are
- 7:46Speaker 2: falling right, Like communication is like falling, Like walls are
- 7:51Speaker 2: falling on like the secretiveness of things and so and
- 7:55Speaker 2: then we're also getting some backstory.
- 7:57Speaker 1: That whole sequence is so it's it's so cat and mouse.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I mean the moment that Deirdre has has Luthen like
- 8:06Speaker 1: in her sights and she's she's in the shop and
- 8:11Speaker 1: and you know, like you know he's not going with her,
- 8:14Speaker 1: but you're just not really sure how and Luthan just decides, yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I'm off myself. Yeah, and it becomes this cat and
- 8:20Speaker 1: mouse race of like can we keep Luthan alive? And
- 8:24Speaker 1: Clia's on like a war path to to make sure
- 8:27Speaker 1: that Luthan dies, right, and then of course, like you said,
- 8:31Speaker 1: we get that that emotional backstory between the two. That's
- 8:35Speaker 1: that's pretty h It's it's interesting to see them in
- 8:41Speaker 1: that way, right, this father daughter relationship, which is not
- 8:44Speaker 1: really something it's not really how I had seen them before. Yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 1: i'd seen them more of a partnership. And I think
- 8:52Speaker 1: that's I think throughout the majority of their past they
- 8:55Speaker 1: do actually have that as far back as like she's
- 8:58Speaker 1: even a child, But there are those moments right where
- 9:01Speaker 1: it is a father daughter relationship.
- 9:02Speaker 2: And how heartbreaking too, how like their relationship was built
- 9:07Speaker 2: so well and they both had such a great understanding
- 9:10Speaker 2: that like the only thing that matters is the rebellion,
- 9:13Speaker 2: and so she knew she had to finish him off
- 9:16Speaker 2: to ensure that their plan was like gonna go through.
- 9:22Speaker 2: And it was just like so heartbreaking, but also like
- 9:25Speaker 2: impressive because you also get to see her in a
- 9:27Speaker 2: little bit of a different light than you hadn't seen
- 9:29Speaker 2: her yet, Right, she was like very behind the scenes,
- 9:31Speaker 2: very secretive, and then this moment she had to just
- 9:34Speaker 2: be like use all of her spy power basically and
- 9:37Speaker 2: everything that she had learned to kill the guy that
- 9:40Speaker 2: taught her everything she knows which is like so crazy
- 9:44Speaker 2: that that's kind of like what we got through that
- 9:47Speaker 2: so interesting.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Well, it kind of like hearkens back to a conversation
- 9:51Speaker 1: that Luthern has with Cassie and earlier in the season,
- 9:55Speaker 1: right where he actually might not be Cassie, and I
- 9:59Speaker 1: forgot who he had this conversation with where he reminds
- 10:03Speaker 1: whoever the person that he's talking to, who there's so
- 10:08Speaker 1: many of them just want to get out at any
- 10:10Speaker 1: given time. Luthen has this conversation so many times with
- 10:12Speaker 1: people of someone who wants to get out, and he
- 10:15Speaker 1: reminds who he's talking to that, like their destinies had
- 10:19Speaker 1: been decided as soon as they made this their mission, right,
- 10:24Speaker 1: it's going to end in their death, and like whether
- 10:26Speaker 1: or not they get to see the fruit of their labor,
- 10:29Speaker 1: they don't know. But they're going to make sure that
- 10:32Speaker 1: they actually die for a cause worth dying for, right,
- 10:35Speaker 1: hopefully planting the seeds of the destruction of the empire.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So I agree with you that I think the finale
- 10:43Speaker 1: is is really really awesome. I I wasn't expecting the
- 10:48Speaker 1: reveal at the end, you know, Like I I was
- 10:52Speaker 1: really unimpressed with the end of season one with the
- 10:55Speaker 1: conversation between Cassie and Luthen. I thought, honestly, I thought
- 10:57Speaker 1: it was kind of lame. I thought it was like
- 10:59Speaker 1: the first part of the whole show was the finale,
- 11:03Speaker 1: because it was it was one of those situations where
- 11:05Speaker 1: he was asking him, you know, it's like either choose
- 11:08Speaker 1: to you know, worth live a life worth living, or
- 11:11Speaker 1: choose death right, and it's like, well, we know he's
- 11:14Speaker 1: not gonna die at the end of this, like what
- 11:15Speaker 1: what we know? He stills work to do. So I
- 11:19Speaker 1: was pretty dis Uh. I was disenfranchised by that ending, right,
- 11:22Speaker 1: And then season two ends up being phenomenal, phenomenal, same
- 11:25Speaker 1: way that season one was really phenomenal. But you know,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I figured that this was really only going to end
- 11:30Speaker 1: in one way with like, you know, some kind of
- 11:32Speaker 1: good segue into Rogue one. Uh, And of course that
- 11:35Speaker 1: does happen. But then you get that extra scene with
- 11:38Speaker 1: bicks And and the child, and that was so unlooked
- 11:43Speaker 1: for and like it you know what that was, that
- 11:46Speaker 1: was a new hope baby like that that felt like
- 11:50Speaker 1: at the end of Rogue one, while like, man, that
- 11:52Speaker 1: movie is awesome, it's filled with so much doom and
- 11:54Speaker 1: dread and like it's I think that movie stands out
- 11:58Speaker 1: because it doesn't feel very star right, Like so much
- 12:00Speaker 1: of Star Wars is built on hope.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Rebellion's built on hope.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So to have that that, like this inkling that like
- 12:07Speaker 1: not not all of Cassian and Or is dead, like
- 12:10Speaker 1: there's a part of him that is still alive out there,
- 12:13Speaker 1: Like that was awesome. I love that.
- 12:15Speaker 2: That was very unexpected, and it really does change the
- 12:19Speaker 2: ending of ro One. It changes these feeling, right, It's
- 12:22Speaker 2: crazy when you think about how that one scene completely
- 12:27Speaker 2: changes how you view a movie that's been off for
- 12:29Speaker 2: years now, right, like the way that they've done this
- 12:32Speaker 2: and so really interesting.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Does it change how you view Juanerso and and Cassian's relationship?
- 12:42Speaker 1: Oh for sure, yeah, like saying.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Like I think the first time I watched it, or
- 12:49Speaker 2: you know, originally like there was some tension there, right,
- 12:51Speaker 2: you were like, oh, what what if in another world,
- 12:53Speaker 2: if they weren't gonna die, maybe there's something there. Yeah,
- 12:56Speaker 2: But upon rewatching it after and Or finished, I was
- 12:59Speaker 2: just like, Genny, you never stood a chance, girl, you
- 13:02Speaker 2: got There's no way it was Yeah, it was purely
- 13:06Speaker 2: like business the whole time you know in a way.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I feel because like there's definitely like something there, like
- 13:13Speaker 1: towards the end, right like as they're they're doing the
- 13:16Speaker 1: final mission together and like you like I kind of
- 13:19Speaker 1: like imagined it is like like not that they showed
- 13:23Speaker 1: anything romantic, but it felt like there was a chemistry
- 13:25Speaker 1: there right a little bit, especially as like they're waiting
- 13:28Speaker 1: to die, and I don't know retroactively now that I
- 13:32Speaker 1: see it now with like the idea that Bix is
- 13:35Speaker 1: still out there, by the way, that was a nice twice.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I kept waiting for Bicks to die. I was like, well,
- 13:38Speaker 1: this is dumb. Bix is gonna die at any moment,
- 13:41Speaker 1: and like the idea that she just leaves that she
- 13:43Speaker 1: just decided like I'm gonna leave the story, like I don't,
- 13:47Speaker 1: I don't need to be in the story anymore. Like
- 13:48Speaker 1: I love that. It was like, holy crap, that was
- 13:51Speaker 1: actually really unexpected and like somehow worse than her dying.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Right exactly, it was worse.
- 13:57Speaker 1: It was worse.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I'm assuming she was she knew she was pregnant in
- 14:00Speaker 2: that moment or she.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I think, looking back on it, I think that's the implication.
- 14:06Speaker 1: But yeah, like with like retroactively looking at Jinnerso story
- 14:10Speaker 1: and like hercas in I think now, like I think
- 14:13Speaker 1: it's more like he feels I think it just he
- 14:17Speaker 1: believes in her right, Like when she's like I'm gonna rally,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna do this, like whatever chemistry I thought was
- 14:23Speaker 1: going on there retroactively, I'm like, no, no, no, He just
- 14:26Speaker 1: he feels inspired by her.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, and he plays a very luth and esque
- 14:30Speaker 2: role in getting her to join the rebellion essentially and
- 14:33Speaker 2: like get on board with like wanting to change this,
- 14:35Speaker 2: and that was just a cool That's the thing I
- 14:38Speaker 2: really loved about watching them back to back is like
- 14:40Speaker 2: you really get to see the full character development of
- 14:43Speaker 2: Andor and then he ends up essentially turning into this
- 14:46Speaker 2: Luthen figure in that Rogue one. In Rogue one. The
- 14:49Speaker 2: one more thing I wanted to mention real quick about
- 14:51Speaker 2: Luthen and I forget if this is in season one
- 14:53Speaker 2: or at the beginning of season two, because like I
- 14:55Speaker 2: rewatched them, you know, we watch them basically congruently together,
- 14:59Speaker 2: and I don't think there's a more badass ship than Luthen's.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Show me a better.
- 15:09Speaker 2: This is what the Millennium Falcon wishes it was.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Lutship is so much more advanced than anything we've seen
- 15:20Speaker 2: someone in a Rebellion fly before, like the getaway from
- 15:25Speaker 2: that Starship or the Starter story or whatever. It is
- 15:28Speaker 2: so freaking cool, Like it is as good as it gets,
- 15:32Speaker 2: and I will definitely clip it in here because it's
- 15:34Speaker 2: just like the coolest It's the coolest scene, one of
- 15:37Speaker 2: the coolest scenes in like all of Star Wars in
- 15:39Speaker 2: my opinion, Like, I freaking loved it, and I think
- 15:41Speaker 2: we've done a top five Star Wars moments before that
- 15:45Speaker 2: might be in my top five now because that moment
- 15:48Speaker 2: was so cool. Anyway, I had to say it. I
- 15:51Speaker 2: had to mention it.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I uh, if we're if we're talking about uh top
- 15:57Speaker 1: Star Wars moments, episode nine, Welcome to the Rebellion with
- 16:04Speaker 1: Moz's speech on the Senate floor.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Dude, I'm so glad to bring this up. This is
- 16:09Speaker 2: the next top thing I was gonna say.
- 16:10Speaker 1: That is that that episode. I think that's the best
- 16:13Speaker 1: episode in all of Ander and I think it's one
- 16:16Speaker 1: of the best Star Wars stories. Yeah, it is. It
- 16:20Speaker 1: is intense and really awesome and it's funny to me like,
- 16:24Speaker 1: I think the tricky part about prequels is you know
- 16:27Speaker 1: ultimately where it's gonna go, So like trying to create
- 16:30Speaker 1: steaks or trying to build tension I think can be
- 16:32Speaker 1: really tricky. Yeah, but that episode doesn't masterfulke right, you know,
- 16:37Speaker 1: she's probably gonna get the speech out maybe or not? Right,
- 16:40Speaker 1: Like you start to question, You're like, well maybe she
- 16:42Speaker 1: doesn't actually, like I know she'll survive, but like this
- 16:45Speaker 1: is important, like how is she going to get this
- 16:47Speaker 1: out here? And yeah, everything that goes into that of
- 16:50Speaker 1: like who do you trust? Who can't you trust? Right?
- 16:53Speaker 2: Like I have friends every God.
- 16:55Speaker 1: It was such a masterclass in building suspense. It was awesome.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely riveting, honestly best. Yeah, I think I'm with
- 17:06Speaker 2: you with that being the best episode for sure, van
- 17:08Speaker 2: Or Like that was insane. The speech was fantastic, delivered
- 17:10Speaker 2: brilliantly by Genevieve O'Riley.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Excellent. Yeah, props, props perhaps where props are due?
- 17:17Speaker 2: Hell yeah, hell yeah? What else is on your mind?
- 17:22Speaker 1: I have to bring up my favorite character in Olive,
- 17:27Speaker 1: and I don't know if this is true for most people.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I feel like most people probably don't like him.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I love Cyrel, No, he's I love I love you.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You stink, dude, this story? Are you kidding me? This
- 17:43Speaker 1: story fantastic dude.
- 17:47Speaker 3: But but that's why it's so interesting because he sucks
- 17:52Speaker 3: so hard.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I did like where his story went. I really hated
- 17:57Speaker 2: him the first like half of the whole show.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Like, well, like he kind of felt like in the beginning,
- 18:04Speaker 1: at the beginning, he probably wasn't my favorite. I don't
- 18:06Speaker 1: think I really started to enjoy him until season two
- 18:09Speaker 1: because like he kind of felt like Team Rocket in
- 18:11Speaker 1: the beginning, like because like it's like, you know, bad
- 18:13Speaker 1: guy who sucks set his job, right, Yeah, that's what
- 18:17Speaker 1: he was. He was Team Rocket. Yeah, he just he
- 18:21Speaker 1: was never imposing or really threatening. And then in season two,
- 18:24Speaker 1: I feel like he really kind of comes into.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Because he's studying a powerful woman.
- 18:30Speaker 1: For the record, I love Edge or two. Yeah, she
- 18:34Speaker 1: is great and I love where both of their stories go.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think both of their stories end perfectly. Yeah, to
- 18:40Speaker 1: have Ceil be this Uh what's the line from Rogue
- 18:44Speaker 1: one where where Vader being like the ultimate like dad
- 18:47Speaker 1: jokester to choke and then he starts force choking. Uh So, Cyril,
- 18:56Speaker 1: I feel like it is the embodiment of that, like
- 18:57Speaker 1: don't choke on your ambitions, like weighing over his head
- 19:02Speaker 1: trying to get stuff done and and shooting way above
- 19:06Speaker 1: his pay graade and just messing it all up. Only
- 19:09Speaker 1: find out that he's being used for like this horrible
- 19:12Speaker 1: manufacturing job going on on Gorn, and to find out
- 19:17Speaker 1: that the empire is like this manipulative and it's using
- 19:21Speaker 1: him as a tool to like sow those seeds, and
- 19:23Speaker 1: like someone he loves is like using him to sow
- 19:25Speaker 1: those seeds right, only for that all to start blowing up,
- 19:29Speaker 1: and then to see the man he believes ruined his
- 19:32Speaker 1: goddamn life on the other end of this, and for
- 19:35Speaker 1: him to just snapah and try to put it all
- 19:38Speaker 1: on him and then actually whoop his ass, only for
- 19:44Speaker 1: that guy to look at him and say, who are you, dude? Amazing?
- 19:52Speaker 2: Cerl died twice that day, he did.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He died. That's such a great call. He did twice.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Oh my god, my boy, my boy got shot through
- 20:02Speaker 1: and heart.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and or absolutely bodied him with that. It's like,
- 20:06Speaker 2: who oh my god.
- 20:08Speaker 1: You know what's funny? Like minutes before Cassie and said that,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I actually said it to myself out loud. I was like,
- 20:15Speaker 1: does causn't even know who this is anymore? Because like
- 20:17Speaker 1: they hadn't seen each other in so long and Cassie
- 20:20Speaker 1: has been through so much said and then and then
- 20:23Speaker 1: perfectly who are you? Yeah, it was apparently.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I think it was the director had to like fight, not.
- 20:29Speaker 1: The director showrunner Tony Gilright, Maybe it was Gilroy.
- 20:33Speaker 2: He had to fight to have that line in there.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Oh did he really?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Apparently?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Dude, that's like one of the best moments the whole show.
- 20:40Speaker 2: It's like crazy, it's crazy it was considered not to
- 20:42Speaker 2: be there. Like anyway, that was a moment for sure,
- 20:46Speaker 2: that whole thing with Gorn, that whole that whole like
- 20:50Speaker 2: marketing campaign, really like the well done, so well done,
- 20:56Speaker 2: Like the storytelling that was really cool. Crazy.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I really I really liked this show for how it
- 21:01Speaker 1: represents the Empire. I think that throughout most of Star Wars.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Maybe this isn't true with like Rogue one or not
- 21:09Speaker 1: Rogue with with like Rebels, but like most of Star Wars,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I feel like we don't really get to see like
- 21:14Speaker 1: the Empire like be a cunning and ruthless machine, like
- 21:20Speaker 1: really like we get to see the Scyth like do
- 21:23Speaker 1: its thing right, and like I don't necessarily as so,
- 21:27Speaker 1: I mean they are the same, right, but to right,
- 21:30Speaker 1: they're both part of the same entities, but they don't
- 21:34Speaker 1: operate the same. And most people in the galaxy are
- 21:37Speaker 1: familiar with the Empire, so like it's really cool or
- 21:41Speaker 1: it was really fascinating and horrifying to see the Empire
- 21:44Speaker 1: be an actual well oiled machine, not the lame stormtroopers
- 21:48Speaker 1: who can't aim that we're used to, right.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And how dedicated all of the members of the Empire
- 21:54Speaker 2: were to.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Their cause, right to the Empire.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's yeah, that was me insane, Like they're all
- 22:00Speaker 2: there's no one is questioning anything. They're all just right.
- 22:03Speaker 1: There's zealots.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Yeah, they're like yeah, this is the right way for sure.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Like you know, like what a what a crazy thing.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I mean, that's a that's a really great I mean,
- 22:13Speaker 1: but that's a great point because I mean, like you know,
- 22:16Speaker 1: the end of Revenge of the Sith, you know, you
- 22:17Speaker 1: get the line we heard a lot these days that uh,
- 22:20Speaker 1: this is how democracy dies. Uh to to thunderous applause, Right,
- 22:24Speaker 1: So like we we should be seeing that blindness, right,
- 22:28Speaker 1: that that people believe what they're doing is right and
- 22:30Speaker 1: this is the way, And it's such a great contrast
- 22:32Speaker 1: to all the different rebel factions that we see. Sure,
- 22:36Speaker 1: like Solgerera is a is a great contrast to the empire, right,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Like he's someone who vastly believes in what he's doing
- 22:43Speaker 1: and like he's insane and he's not really the heroic
- 22:47Speaker 1: type that we associate with the rebels, Right, Yeah, that's
- 22:51Speaker 1: that's a that's a really great call that, like for
- 22:54Speaker 1: as efficient as they are, like they's zealous and like
- 22:57Speaker 1: you look at them and you question, like how are you?
- 22:59Speaker 2: Like in one moment that really stands out how much
- 23:02Speaker 2: they are dedicated to the empire is that there's that
- 23:07Speaker 2: moment where the isb agent or sergeant or whatever it
- 23:12Speaker 2: is the one that's kind of in charge of making
- 23:15Speaker 2: sure I think he's the one who's in charge of
- 23:18Speaker 2: like dedra and they end up like failing and Luth
- 23:24Speaker 2: ends up dying and like basically the IBA guy ends
- 23:28Speaker 2: up killing himself instead of going to face the reprimand scenes.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Instead of being reprimanded, he ends up killing himself. And
- 23:35Speaker 2: the the cool part about this scene is there's a
- 23:38Speaker 2: recording playing in the scene and it's it's Mnemic reading
- 23:44Speaker 2: one of his passages from his book from end or
- 23:47Speaker 2: season one, like he you know how he was like
- 23:49Speaker 2: recording the rebellion things or whatever on his on the
- 23:52Speaker 2: secam quorder, and the Empire like had this in their
- 23:55Speaker 2: possession and we're listening to Nemec basically talk about how
- 23:59Speaker 2: rebellions are made while the I speak, guys like killing
- 24:02Speaker 2: himself because he failed. What's worse, so end up ending
- 24:05Speaker 2: up in one of those prisons, like didro at the end?
- 24:07Speaker 2: You know, like.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Can we talk about that? Like that was actually that
- 24:12Speaker 1: was probably my favorite concept of the entire of the
- 24:15Speaker 1: entire show was the prison, the empire prison that was created.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Uh that I really want to know who came up
- 24:24Speaker 1: with the concept of that prison or like what inspired
- 24:26Speaker 1: them to make it, because it ness with you mentally
- 24:31Speaker 1: is true torture.
- 24:32Speaker 2: It's insane, especially the whole reveal in season one about
- 24:35Speaker 2: like you're never getting out of there, right, they just
- 24:37Speaker 2: like move into a different wing.
- 24:39Speaker 1: To my knowledge, I feel like that's the first time
- 24:41Speaker 1: that we learned that the Empire's up to something, because
- 24:45Speaker 1: like that they're they're building, they're building stuff and they're like,
- 24:48Speaker 1: what are we even building? What even is this force?
- 24:51Speaker 1: Like the Death Star? Right, Like the question that hangs
- 24:54Speaker 1: as we the viewers know it's, oh, it's probably Project Starts.
- 24:58Speaker 1: It's probably the Death Star. I will say, like there
- 25:01Speaker 1: are like like I said earlier, there there are moments
- 25:03Speaker 1: in this show where there's like heavy emphasis on a character,
- 25:08Speaker 1: on a minor character, and I don't understand why. Like
- 25:14Speaker 1: there's I think it's the end of episode I want
- 25:16Speaker 1: to say it's episode seven in the second season where
- 25:18Speaker 1: the last shot is of someone from Castiane's past is
- 25:23Speaker 1: with the rebels, right, and like somebody recognizes him. It's like, oh,
- 25:27Speaker 1: it's Tuo, and like that's the last shot and like
- 25:28Speaker 1: I'm literally I can't even remember the guy's name. Like
- 25:31Speaker 1: he's with Casside in the last three episodes of the
- 25:34Speaker 1: whole show, and when it like freezes on him, it's
- 25:37Speaker 1: like this big moment that he's there, and I was like,
- 25:39Speaker 1: I don't remember who this character is. Show, like you've
- 25:43Speaker 1: hit me with so many other important things. Who is this?
- 25:47Speaker 1: Tell me give me some kind of context. And then
- 25:48Speaker 1: like we didn't address it again until like episode ted
- 25:51Speaker 1: and was like, oh, okay, he's just with cast now, Okay,
- 25:53Speaker 1: so yeah, his name is Rule Scott Melschie. He's not
- 25:55Speaker 1: that important, and like an episode ends with like the
- 25:58Speaker 1: fact that he's like in YEVN and it's like the
- 26:02Speaker 1: camera actually frames on him for like a moment, like
- 26:05Speaker 1: he peers out from like the corner of like or
- 26:07Speaker 1: behind somebody else and like they're surprised to see me, Like,
- 26:10Speaker 1: oh my god, he's here. It's this guy who's been
- 26:13Speaker 1: so important to this story and like I don't know
- 26:15Speaker 1: who this is.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Actually, you know what? I think he was also in
- 26:18Speaker 2: the prison with and or.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Oh that would explain why it's supposed to be a reveal. Okay,
- 26:27Speaker 1: oh right, that's it's the same guy who they separate
- 26:31Speaker 1: from each other. That's right. Yeah, now I remember who
- 26:35Speaker 1: this is.
- 26:35Speaker 2: That's why he's more important.
- 26:37Speaker 1: That's why it's like a reveal.
- 26:39Speaker 2: But fuck, but it's not hard to tell.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Like did you did you when you saw that? Did
- 26:45Speaker 1: you know who? That's who? That was?
- 26:46Speaker 2: Finding this out for the first time?
- 26:48Speaker 1: This is my whole point. This is my whole point.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And it actually is kind of cool now that I
- 26:52Speaker 1: know who he is, Like that is.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Cool, But like what I'm like and that that's from
- 26:58Speaker 3: the first season crazy, and like it's episodes ago and
- 27:02Speaker 3: like years ago at this point in the in the
- 27:04Speaker 3: actual timeline of things.
- 27:05Speaker 1: And we've seen so many characters. I don't know who
- 27:07Speaker 1: this dude is, and like, I'll be honest with you,
- 27:12Speaker 1: as far as prison characters go, not the character I
- 27:15Speaker 1: was hoping to see. Andy Serkis's character is the character
- 27:19Speaker 1: from the prison I was hoping to see. But he
- 27:21Speaker 1: had probably one of the most devastating lines in the
- 27:23Speaker 1: whole show. I can't, I can't, I can't swim. I
- 27:28Speaker 1: actually yelled at the TV when he said that, I
- 27:30Speaker 1: will never forget that. When he actually when he says
- 27:33Speaker 1: to that, I'm like, no, it was devastating, absolutely devastating.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Absolutely heartbreaking. Like you're gonna learn right now, sir, Just chuck,
- 27:42Speaker 2: just chop.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Oh my god. Two more things. I feel like we
- 27:48Speaker 1: I feel like Saalgerera like could have been explored a
- 27:51Speaker 1: lot more through this show, especially. I don't know, we
- 27:55Speaker 1: were told how insane he is, we got to see
- 27:56Speaker 1: him be insane for like an episode. I wanted to
- 27:59Speaker 1: see do more. Though, Yeah, I feel like that was
- 28:04Speaker 1: not necessarily a missed opportunity. Just I just want him
- 28:08Speaker 1: more out of Salgerrera in general. I think he's an
- 28:10Speaker 1: interesting character.
- 28:11Speaker 2: What what are you giving a rating? Give me a rating?
- 28:14Speaker 1: What do we do for shows?
- 28:17Speaker 2: I think it's ten.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's ten too.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I usually ask this question.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I feel like I can't go lower than nine. I
- 28:23Speaker 1: can't go lower. Oh, actually, I'm so sorry, I have to. Okay, okay,
- 28:29Speaker 1: So there is one thing. There's one thing. The budget
- 28:31Speaker 1: for the show is really great at times, and then
- 28:33Speaker 1: there are other moments where I'm like, the restraints of
- 28:36Speaker 1: this budget are showing, like Gorn, the fact that we
- 28:40Speaker 1: can't see any other part of Gorn except like the
- 28:43Speaker 1: main city, the main city plaza and like one random
- 28:47Speaker 1: street and that's it. Like that's it. Like I don't
- 28:51Speaker 1: get me wrong. The budget was used phenomenally in like
- 28:54Speaker 1: most other parts of the show, but like Man in Gorn,
- 28:57Speaker 1: like you could see it, like stretching hard there. It's
- 29:00Speaker 1: fun and I couldn't like unsee it once I had
- 29:03Speaker 1: the thought. But anyway, I probably still a stick with
- 29:07Speaker 1: an eye. It's a great show. It's fantastic.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Nine point seven.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Oh, look at this guy shooting for the stars.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Wars as a gift. Wow boom, all right, that's a review.
- 29:18Speaker 2: That's a review. Please let us know in the comments
