- 0:30Speaker 2: Now, Hey, good afternoon, and welcome to another episode of
- 0:36Speaker 2: Wellness and Censored. I'm your host. My name's Patty G.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I'm really excited to
- 0:43Speaker 2: be here and talk with you all today. I know
- 0:45Speaker 2: a lot of times folks will tune in just looking
- 0:47Speaker 2: in for information, tips and advice. You're more than welcome
- 0:50Speaker 2: to tune in and text us with any kind of
- 0:53Speaker 2: questions you might have because the show is live and
- 0:55Speaker 2: interactive and I can always read your question up on
- 0:58Speaker 2: the comment board, so if you've out a question, feel
- 1:00Speaker 2: free to reach out. Today's topic is focused on the holidays,
- 1:07Speaker 2: and not everybody is enjoying this time of year. And
- 1:11Speaker 2: while many of us are right and it's great to feel,
- 1:14Speaker 2: you know, excited, and have the holiday spirit and really
- 1:17Speaker 2: want to be a part of things, it's just really
- 1:21Speaker 2: tough when you just don't have that holiday feeling, and
- 1:26Speaker 2: so for many folks. I'm hoping today that others will
- 1:29Speaker 2: get to understand that sometimes people may not meet you,
- 1:33Speaker 2: greet you, or respond to you in the way that
- 1:36Speaker 2: you think they should, And especially now at this time
- 1:38Speaker 2: of year. Throughout the year, we talk a lot about
- 1:42Speaker 2: mental health mental wellness, and it's really something that you
- 1:47Speaker 2: have to look at from a dynamic focus. In some
- 1:50Speaker 2: days you may feel good, some days you may not
- 1:52Speaker 2: feel so hot, but there can be crises going on
- 1:57Speaker 2: in your mind, in other people's lives around you. And
- 2:00Speaker 2: when that happens, it's really tough because we don't always know,
- 2:05Speaker 2: and you wonder why somebody may or may not respond
- 2:08Speaker 2: to you appropriately, and it's sometimes not anything that you
- 2:12Speaker 2: did or didn't do. They just may really be going
- 2:16Speaker 2: and having a tough time with things. And it's interesting
- 2:18Speaker 2: because you know, this show got started three years ago
- 2:22Speaker 2: as we were coming out of the pandemic, and it
- 2:25Speaker 2: really kind of got life from the pandemic because many
- 2:29Speaker 2: of our lives, if not all of our lives changed,
- 2:32Speaker 2: And so each year as we talk about different things,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know, September is National Suicide Prevention Month. May is
- 2:39Speaker 2: National Mental Health Awareness Month, and all the things that
- 2:44Speaker 2: go along with that, we often sometimes don't realize that
- 2:48Speaker 2: it really can be anytime, any day when crisis hits.
- 2:52Speaker 2: And it's interesting because while I get a lot of
- 2:57Speaker 2: patients that come through, and on any given day, I
- 3:00Speaker 2: can go through the emotions where people are happy, they're calm,
- 3:04Speaker 2: they're anxious, they're sad, and many times I'll even have
- 3:08Speaker 2: somebody come in and they're suicidal. And while suicide isn't
- 3:12Speaker 2: the specific topic we're talking about today, so many things
- 3:16Speaker 2: can lead to people not thinking clearly. But I thought
- 3:19Speaker 2: maybe today we could talk about things so that you
- 3:21Speaker 2: can at least be a good listener, have a good ear,
- 3:25Speaker 2: have a careful eye when you're talking with people, or
- 3:29Speaker 2: if in fact it's yourself and you're going through a
- 3:32Speaker 2: really tough time, there are some things that you can
- 3:36Speaker 2: do to get you through to reset to the new year.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And I also like talking this time of year. This
- 3:41Speaker 2: week and next week we're going to be talking about
- 3:43Speaker 2: ways to jumpstart, because it's kind of like now we're
- 3:46Speaker 2: down to maybe forty five days, well probably less than
- 3:50Speaker 2: forty five days actually because we're into December, but we're
- 3:52Speaker 2: in that final few weeks until the new year, and
- 3:56Speaker 2: people often wait till January to start, and I always say,
- 3:59Speaker 2: there's no time like the present. So instead of waiting
- 4:03Speaker 2: till the new year, how about if you start now
- 4:06Speaker 2: and start making some changes in your life. If you
- 4:11Speaker 2: really want to find joy, if you want to find change,
- 4:16Speaker 2: if you want to find peace, start taking some steps
- 4:20Speaker 2: to make some subtle changes. And it's interesting because you know,
- 4:24Speaker 2: today could be a great day and you wake up
- 4:26Speaker 2: tomorrow and everything's changed. Right some of us are experiencing
- 4:30Speaker 2: that right now. I work with a lot of folks
- 4:32Speaker 2: and there's a group that I know some of you
- 4:34Speaker 2: tune in regularly, and they're survivors or they are the
- 4:38Speaker 2: loved ones who have survived where their loved one has
- 4:43Speaker 2: passed during the COVID pandemic, and a lot of them
- 4:47Speaker 2: still struggle. You may know some of them, you may
- 4:50Speaker 2: never have heard of some of the leftover. Just I
- 4:55Speaker 2: can't even think of the word trauma if it doesn't
- 4:58Speaker 2: even put a shape to how people feel from being
- 5:01Speaker 2: so victimized and hurt. And you know, in the opinion
- 5:05Speaker 2: of what I saw was more of a decimation or
- 5:08Speaker 2: a Holocaustic type decimation of people during COVID, And while
- 5:13Speaker 2: many were out there with the best interest and intentions.
- 5:16Speaker 2: There is a lot of people who did not get
- 5:17Speaker 2: treated well or fairly or correctly, were mismanaged, misdiagnosed, or mistreated.
- 5:23Speaker 2: So there is an abundance of folks, and we've had
- 5:25Speaker 2: a few of them on the show. One not too
- 5:28Speaker 2: long ago, and in the story that he shared, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 2: he spent three months on a ventilaer and you know,
- 5:34Speaker 2: by the grace of God, he's still alive and he's
- 5:37Speaker 2: doing well and thriving. But the recovery was incredible. And
- 5:41Speaker 2: yet beyond him, there are those families who've lost moms
- 5:45Speaker 2: and brothers and sisters and dads and boyfriends and girlfriends
- 5:49Speaker 2: and husbands and wives, even children. And many of those
- 5:52Speaker 2: people today are fighting what seems silently because it's not
- 5:56Speaker 2: out there in the mainstream. And this is a real
- 5:59Speaker 2: hard time for folks like that. So my heart goes
- 6:02Speaker 2: out to anybody who's lost someone during COVID because it's
- 6:06Speaker 2: almost like nobody wants to remember how bad things really were,
- 6:08Speaker 2: and so we're not going to try to relive the past.
- 6:12Speaker 2: We don't want to live in the sadness and the suffering.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But if you're not feeling your best today. And if
- 6:18Speaker 2: you're struggling, maybe you've just recently lost a pet, lost
- 6:22Speaker 2: a loved one, maybe you just aren't even in the
- 6:24Speaker 2: holiday spirit. And I'll be honest, sometimes people don't have
- 6:28Speaker 2: anything that's going on in their life. And I had
- 6:31Speaker 2: a person in my office the other day and it's
- 6:34Speaker 2: almost as if she has the world is her oyster,
- 6:37Speaker 2: great job, great career, great business, wonderful kids, kids are
- 6:42Speaker 2: of course not without issues, wonderful husband, house, family, your
- 6:47Speaker 2: name it. There's really nothing she even said. She wants
- 6:49Speaker 2: her needs and volunteers and does everything, but she feels
- 6:52Speaker 2: very empty and very alone. And that's a tough place
- 6:55Speaker 2: to be at this time of year when you're supposed
- 6:57Speaker 2: to be bubbly and happy and Christmas care and doing
- 7:01Speaker 2: all those fun things. So we just never know what
- 7:04Speaker 2: triggers strike people, and so have just that moment to
- 7:08Speaker 2: consider that the people that are in front of you,
- 7:11Speaker 2: were the people that you pass by in the next
- 7:12Speaker 2: couple of days or weeks, there could be real reasons
- 7:15Speaker 2: why they're just not in that holiday spirit. And if
- 7:18Speaker 2: you're not, that's why we're here, because we want to
- 7:20Speaker 2: talk about how to help you through the holidays with depression, sadness,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and anxiety. And it's amazing to me. And I don't
- 7:29Speaker 2: know if any of you out there want to text
- 7:32Speaker 2: us in your comments and questions, but is it hard
- 7:35Speaker 2: for you to really do good things for yourself? Do
- 7:38Speaker 2: you ever put yourself first? And if you do, more
- 7:42Speaker 2: power to you, you absolutely have to. Today was one
- 7:45Speaker 2: of those days I didn't quite put myself first. And
- 7:48Speaker 2: you feel it, You feel when you are just kind
- 7:51Speaker 2: of like working on overload or working on empty or
- 7:55Speaker 2: working on raw nerve. And so believe me, it's not
- 7:58Speaker 2: just other people. Those things happen to you know, I
- 8:01Speaker 2: go through the same things myself. And so I'm here
- 8:04Speaker 2: to talk about self care because I've spent a lot
- 8:07Speaker 2: of time making sure that I can do things that
- 8:09Speaker 2: kind of resets me. Because how many of you out
- 8:12Speaker 2: there feel like nobody understands nobody understands you, nobody knows
- 8:16Speaker 2: what you're going through. Are you the person who is
- 8:19Speaker 2: always there for everyone else? Are you the person that
- 8:22Speaker 2: people look at and go, you know, she's got it
- 8:24Speaker 2: all together, he's got it all together. He helps me,
- 8:28Speaker 2: Oh she helps me. Oh she's wonderful. Just go ask
- 8:31Speaker 2: so and so she'll tell you what to do. It's
- 8:33Speaker 2: those very people that I might just be talking to today,
- 8:36Speaker 2: because you are among the few, and if you're the
- 8:40Speaker 2: one that is always there and you're just that bright
- 8:43Speaker 2: light for other people, there's nobody that's going to help
- 8:46Speaker 2: you like yourself. And that's okay. And in order to
- 8:49Speaker 2: help yourself, you have to be able to take a
- 8:51Speaker 2: pause and do what we talk about is self care, mindfulness,
- 8:57Speaker 2: do a reset. And when you do a reset, it
- 9:00Speaker 2: sometimes means you have to step away from the busyness,
- 9:04Speaker 2: the demands, the craziness, and you just have to kind
- 9:08Speaker 2: of as nicely as you can tell folks, I need
- 9:10Speaker 2: five minutes, I need a half an hour. I won't
- 9:14Speaker 2: be in today. And I bet how many of you
- 9:17Speaker 2: would dare not call in for a mental health day. Now,
- 9:21Speaker 2: I'm not going to be able to give you a
- 9:22Speaker 2: note to get a mental health day. But sometimes you
- 9:26Speaker 2: got to put the brakes on and say, you know what, Today,
- 9:30Speaker 2: I'm going to take myself out of the equation and
- 9:33Speaker 2: I'm going to do something really good for me. And
- 9:36Speaker 2: so I'm going to share a couple things that I
- 9:38Speaker 2: have done. Last week, I literally took well, I can't
- 9:42Speaker 2: say I took the whole week off because I do
- 9:44Speaker 2: have that little little thing in me that says, well,
- 9:46Speaker 2: I'll I'll just talk to a couple people. But generally,
- 9:50Speaker 2: I think probably out of one hundred and fifty people
- 9:53Speaker 2: I see a week, I only saw five. So I
- 9:55Speaker 2: did really good. Five's not bad, and those five probably
- 9:59Speaker 2: needed a little touch point, a little tune, And so
- 10:01Speaker 2: it was. It was a good thing, and I still
- 10:03Speaker 2: had plenty of time for me. But what was really cool,
- 10:07Speaker 2: and here's just some ideas. You know, y'all live all
- 10:09Speaker 2: over the place and probably in and out of the
- 10:12Speaker 2: United States. I went for a walk with my son
- 10:14Speaker 2: on the beach and it was just like no one
- 10:18Speaker 2: else existed. And while we were walking along the beach,
- 10:21Speaker 2: it's the first time I've ever seen starfish out on
- 10:24Speaker 2: the beach, and they were alive, but they were also
- 10:27Speaker 2: stuck in the sand. And there's a story I read
- 10:30Speaker 2: once about throwing the starffish back. And so there we were,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and it wasn't a lot because I probably would have
- 10:37Speaker 2: tried to save everyone, but everyone that we found I
- 10:40Speaker 2: must have, you know, taken ten or twelve and thrown
- 10:43Speaker 2: them back in the ocean. My son did the same thing.
- 10:46Speaker 2: And what was good for that was I felt like
- 10:49Speaker 2: I helped starfish. And it's silly, right, It's just one
- 10:52Speaker 2: little thing, but sometimes you have to step back and
- 10:56Speaker 2: be out of the rat race. You have to be
- 10:58Speaker 2: out of the craziness. Another day, since he was here visiting,
- 11:03Speaker 2: we went to a park that I had never gone,
- 11:07Speaker 2: and it's only a couple miles from my house. We
- 11:09Speaker 2: had the best time, and I can't tell you the
- 11:12Speaker 2: last time. I stopped and I saw a turtle in
- 11:14Speaker 2: the grass, and then we went farther down the road
- 11:17Speaker 2: and there was an armadillo and there was no one
- 11:19Speaker 2: else around. And that was probably one of the second
- 11:23Speaker 2: most good days that week. That again, I was grounded.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I took myself out of the equation so I could
- 11:30Speaker 2: fill my cup, so I could go back to taking
- 11:32Speaker 2: care of all those patients every week. So it's those
- 11:35Speaker 2: little things. It may mean you just doing something that
- 11:39Speaker 2: you don't often have time for, but those are the
- 11:41Speaker 2: kind of things that I want you to think about.
- 11:43Speaker 2: As we talked today, a couple good questions. So what
- 11:47Speaker 2: does it why does it feel we're taught to take
- 11:49Speaker 2: care of others? But never taught to take care about
- 11:51Speaker 2: ourselves first. You know, it's really true. And I don't
- 11:55Speaker 2: know who's doing the teaching, because we grow up by
- 11:59Speaker 2: what we learn, and how we learn is through our family,
- 12:02Speaker 2: our parents, our teachers, maybe people in your church community,
- 12:06Speaker 2: and it is really not something that people focus on.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And by the time people come to focus on it,
- 12:12Speaker 2: that's usually when they're coming to see people like me
- 12:15Speaker 2: and their life is in disarray. They've got a lot
- 12:18Speaker 2: of stress, they've got a lot of challenges. But I
- 12:21Speaker 2: will tell you there are a lot of good, you know,
- 12:24Speaker 2: self help books. We've talked about some of them one here,
- 12:28Speaker 2: and there's just some really good ones. One that kind
- 12:31Speaker 2: of comes to mind and I talk about a lot
- 12:34Speaker 2: on here is the mel Robins stuff. She's got a
- 12:37Speaker 2: lot of good stuff, and I think, you know, for
- 12:40Speaker 2: all that that can be really helpful. She gets a
- 12:43Speaker 2: lot of great stuff from people on her podcast and
- 12:47Speaker 2: just really helpful timely advice. So I definitely recommend grabbing
- 12:51Speaker 2: one of her books, especially the book called let Them
- 12:55Speaker 2: Really is helpful to let you take your eyes off
- 12:57Speaker 2: of what everybody else worries and thinks about for you
- 13:01Speaker 2: or because of you. Or should you, or whatever the
- 13:03Speaker 2: case may be. So that's a good book and things
- 13:08Speaker 2: like that. How often when was the last time you
- 13:10Speaker 2: actually took a moment to read a book or read
- 13:14Speaker 2: a chapter in a book. And you know, when you
- 13:16Speaker 2: think about it, the one place to answer your question, Lester,
- 13:20Speaker 2: the airlines are the best ones to say. Before you
- 13:23Speaker 2: can help someone else, you've got to put that oxygen
- 13:25Speaker 2: mask on for yourself, right, Well, that's the stuff that
- 13:29Speaker 2: I'm talking about. You absolutely have to take a moment
- 13:34Speaker 2: and do that very thing. You've got to put your
- 13:37Speaker 2: own oxygen mask on. And so what does that look like?
- 13:40Speaker 2: You know? And I don't physically mean oxygen, although oxygen
- 13:43Speaker 2: is not a bad thing to get every now and then,
- 13:46Speaker 2: because it does give you a little bit of an
- 13:48Speaker 2: energy boost and helps the blood flow in the circulation.
- 13:51Speaker 2: But if you don't fill your day with a plan
- 13:55Speaker 2: for you somewhere in your day, you've got to make
- 13:58Speaker 2: time for you when we often short change it. You know,
- 14:02Speaker 2: today I'm a creature of my own mistakes because I
- 14:06Speaker 2: had such pressing things to do this morning. I didn't
- 14:09Speaker 2: start my day with orange theory. And it has made
- 14:12Speaker 2: a difference, not in a good way, so full self disclosure.
- 14:17Speaker 2: This is why you have to make time for you. Now,
- 14:20Speaker 2: I will make up for today tomorrow, but you really
- 14:23Speaker 2: have to try to be what I call healthy selfishness.
- 14:27Speaker 2: You have to make time for you, even if it's
- 14:30Speaker 2: only ten or fifteen minutes a day, it can be
- 14:32Speaker 2: the best ten or fifteen minutes that you really spend
- 14:36Speaker 2: to fill your cup. And I'm sure you have lots
- 14:39Speaker 2: of ideas, things that are simple, that aren't t time consuming,
- 14:43Speaker 2: but sometimes you do need to spend the time. It's
- 14:46Speaker 2: almost like you brush and you polish and you shape
- 14:50Speaker 2: a fine stone because you really want it to be
- 14:53Speaker 2: just remarkable. You do have to polish and brush and
- 14:57Speaker 2: fine tune yourself because if if you don't, like I said,
- 15:01Speaker 2: who will. And the important part about that is when
- 15:06Speaker 2: you don't, your cup will get so low before you
- 15:09Speaker 2: know it, people will just wear you down. Life will
- 15:14Speaker 2: wear you down, Situations will wear you down, and then
- 15:18Speaker 2: things get overwhelming and then that's where the imbalance takes place. Yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 2: you know, Vinnie, it's kind of true. There's a lot
- 15:26Speaker 2: of companies that don't really allow for a sick day
- 15:28Speaker 2: or personal day. So my only solution and suggestion for
- 15:33Speaker 2: that is creating a climate and a culture that works
- 15:37Speaker 2: for you if you can't get a day off, and
- 15:41Speaker 2: I would probably question some of the companies. I literally
- 15:43Speaker 2: had a patient yes day before yesterday. He was so
- 15:47Speaker 2: distraught and upset because of some information that he wasn't
- 15:50Speaker 2: able to achieve and get for his own physical being,
- 15:54Speaker 2: and it was just a mismatch of situations with a
- 15:57Speaker 2: medical situation. He got so upset he just couldn't function
- 16:01Speaker 2: and go to work, and his employer demanded the only
- 16:04Speaker 2: way you're going to get covered for calling out sick
- 16:07Speaker 2: is with a note. And that's unfortunate because to me,
- 16:10Speaker 2: that's bullying. You're bullying an employee who have to take
- 16:15Speaker 2: measures that they almost have to go and you know,
- 16:18Speaker 2: plead their case to someone to say, please give me
- 16:20Speaker 2: a note. We're adults, so maybe we all have to
- 16:24Speaker 2: take a look in how we reach back and respond
- 16:26Speaker 2: to our corporate culture. You know, I'm only one little person,
- 16:30Speaker 2: and as best as I tried to shape and mold
- 16:33Speaker 2: some things in a corporate culture, I can only tell
- 16:36Speaker 2: you the work that I did and how I handled things.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I always tried to make a positive impact and a
- 16:40Speaker 2: difference but I shape all of health care way. No,
- 16:44Speaker 2: obviously not definitely not because so much still goes on
- 16:47Speaker 2: in healthcare today. It's kind of why I got into
- 16:49Speaker 2: my own private work. But I still think we have
- 16:52Speaker 2: a voice, and I think we should when we need
- 16:55Speaker 2: to express something. You've got a human resources department, many
- 16:59Speaker 2: please is have employee committees and different things. And if
- 17:04Speaker 2: you're in that bad of an environment and you have
- 17:06Speaker 2: no support in any grounds, I do have to ask
- 17:09Speaker 2: why would you stay in a job that doesn't treat
- 17:12Speaker 2: you with compassion, respect, kindness as a human being. So,
- 17:18Speaker 2: not to get off onto a tangent for Venue's comment,
- 17:20Speaker 2: but let's say you don't have time. Let's say you
- 17:23Speaker 2: can't take a personal day. You do your job. You
- 17:25Speaker 2: work hard. Sometimes we work so hard we don't know
- 17:28Speaker 2: when to take a pause. And so in taking that pause,
- 17:33Speaker 2: do it after work, do it before work most days.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Because there's a place that I work a few days
- 17:40Speaker 2: at that you know, I always have to report to
- 17:41Speaker 2: someone some of the stuff I do on my own
- 17:44Speaker 2: and I have my own business, but another place that
- 17:46Speaker 2: I do work for, you know, I've got a couple
- 17:48Speaker 2: of days where it's seven a to seven p. If
- 17:50Speaker 2: I want to do self care on a seven eight
- 17:52Speaker 2: to seven p day and I know that I'm going
- 17:54Speaker 2: to be at another employer, I have to find a
- 17:57Speaker 2: way to do something for myself at six am, which
- 18:00Speaker 2: I do, or if I can't get it from six
- 18:04Speaker 2: am to six thirty or six forty five. At the
- 18:07Speaker 2: end of that day, I get home and I set
- 18:11Speaker 2: a plan and I make an intentional time to do something.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And that's something really just depends on your mood and
- 18:19Speaker 2: what you feel is going to help you. It could
- 18:21Speaker 2: be taking a walk. It could be getting on a
- 18:23Speaker 2: bike if you have an indoor gym. It could be
- 18:27Speaker 2: having a cup of coffee although you don't want it
- 18:29Speaker 2: to keep you up at night. It could be calling
- 18:31Speaker 2: a friend. It could be calling a loved one. It
- 18:33Speaker 2: could be writing in your journal. You get to pick
- 18:36Speaker 2: what feels good for you. But I will tell you
- 18:39Speaker 2: the other thing too. This time of year, with just
- 18:42Speaker 2: the increased stress and the pressure of sadness, depression, worrying
- 18:48Speaker 2: about who to buy gifts for, worrying about the holidays,
- 18:52Speaker 2: worrying about decorating, worrying about things, I'm beating the sun again.
- 18:57Speaker 2: You know, I moved my desk, just as an aside,
- 18:59Speaker 2: you guys or here with me last week and the
- 19:01Speaker 2: sun was like beaming in. I made a little change,
- 19:04Speaker 2: and it seems like it's still fine in the right
- 19:06Speaker 2: corner to just beaming on me. But finding ways to plan.
- 19:11Speaker 2: You know, if it's important enough to be on your calendar,
- 19:15Speaker 2: you should be planning self care time. And as busy
- 19:19Speaker 2: as we all are, you know, you've got work and
- 19:22Speaker 2: kids or family, older parents, whatever the case may be.
- 19:25Speaker 2: You might have two jobs. The sustainability of just go go, go,
- 19:29Speaker 2: go go is not there. And let's talk a little
- 19:33Speaker 2: bit about if you're sad, if you're anxious, if you're uptight,
- 19:36Speaker 2: especially around this time of the year, not even to
- 19:39Speaker 2: go and do things any other thing. The one thing
- 19:42Speaker 2: that I did, and again that's why I thought it
- 19:44Speaker 2: was a perfect day. You know, I set the tone
- 19:47Speaker 2: for the podcast and then it's just funny how things unfold,
- 19:52Speaker 2: usually the day of the podcast. But because I wasn't
- 19:55Speaker 2: able to do some of the things that I normally
- 19:56Speaker 2: like to do in the morning to kind of set
- 19:58Speaker 2: the tone set the day, I did make sure that
- 20:01Speaker 2: I took care of my inner self with the vitamin
- 20:04Speaker 2: supplements protein, drink a few extra things that I'd use.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I love using the X thirty nine patches. You guys
- 20:12Speaker 2: can see them up on the screen. They're also a
- 20:14Speaker 2: great way if you're busy and on the go, you
- 20:17Speaker 2: have got to fuel and arm yourself for your days,
- 20:22Speaker 2: maybe a battle ahead. Right. So this doesn't mean having
- 20:26Speaker 2: to take medication, This doesn't mean having to cook yourself
- 20:29Speaker 2: a full breakfast before you go out. But if you
- 20:32Speaker 2: engage in using a couple of supplements you hydrate. The
- 20:36Speaker 2: X thirty nine patches are great. You can get them
- 20:38Speaker 2: at Magnolia cell patch dot com. I think they had
- 20:41Speaker 2: that up on the screen earlier, but at Magnolia cell
- 20:43Speaker 2: Patch you can just click it on get yourself a
- 20:45Speaker 2: pack of the X thirty nine or X forty nine.
- 20:48Speaker 2: They're sort of the powerhouse energizers. And what it is.
- 20:51Speaker 2: It's light reflective that pulls light into the skin into
- 20:57Speaker 2: your blood vessels, and it helps your blood vessels to
- 21:00Speaker 2: stimulate more stem cells. Stem cells are fresh, healthy cells.
- 21:06Speaker 2: They're energizing. They drop off as we get older. And
- 21:10Speaker 2: you pop a still a cell patch on and try
- 21:14Speaker 2: it for like two or three weeks, and you'll notice
- 21:16Speaker 2: subtly you have a little more stamina, a little more energy,
- 21:19Speaker 2: you feel a little bit better. So we have those
- 21:22Speaker 2: on our website. It's definitely something to take a look at.
- 21:25Speaker 2: But if not for that, you need to try to
- 21:28Speaker 2: remember to fuel and hydrate. And the fuel and the
- 21:31Speaker 2: hydrate are things that I got really good the last
- 21:33Speaker 2: couple of years. How many of you pack yourself in
- 21:37Speaker 2: the morning or pack yourself the night before a little
- 21:40Speaker 2: toolkit of a lunch box that has some hydration, some water,
- 21:44Speaker 2: a protein drink, maybe a protein bar, healthy snacks. I
- 21:49Speaker 2: did that every day for probably the last three years,
- 21:53Speaker 2: maybe longer. And it needs such a difference because as
- 21:56Speaker 2: I carry around my you know, and it's not a
- 21:58Speaker 2: little kid lunchbox, but I refer to it as a
- 22:02Speaker 2: little kid lunchbox, that little lunch box allows me to
- 22:06Speaker 2: be able to have hydration and nourishment. And yesterday was
- 22:12Speaker 2: a super busy day for me, so busy, but I
- 22:15Speaker 2: didn't feel bad or down or tired or depleted from
- 22:19Speaker 2: seven am to almost eight fifteen because I had my
- 22:22Speaker 2: little lunchbox. I was able to take a quick potty
- 22:24Speaker 2: break because like many of you out there, when you
- 22:27Speaker 2: have a you have to beat to the drum of
- 22:29Speaker 2: your employer. They often don't seem to remember that you
- 22:33Speaker 2: didn't get a lunch break or that you need to
- 22:35Speaker 2: go to the bathroom. And so when your go go go,
- 22:38Speaker 2: you know, I made it work for me, and you
- 22:40Speaker 2: can use those things to your advantage. Be real curious
- 22:44Speaker 2: to know who's out there that's struggling, and if anybody
- 22:47Speaker 2: wants to share a story or share a question. You know,
- 22:51Speaker 2: I often find this time of year people come out
- 22:53Speaker 2: of the woodwork, and it's really hard because there's so
- 22:56Speaker 2: many people out there that just don't know what to
- 22:58Speaker 2: do to feel better. And so some of the things
- 23:01Speaker 2: that I'm going to suggest today, you know, we've already
- 23:03Speaker 2: talked about just some nutrition and hydration and some supplementation.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Things to do to physically work on your body to
- 23:11Speaker 2: feel better. One of the things that I always talk about,
- 23:14Speaker 2: and it doesn't cost much other than a pen and
- 23:17Speaker 2: a little notebook. Try to start to write your thoughts
- 23:21Speaker 2: and your feelings down. Writing thoughts and feelings down allows
- 23:25Speaker 2: you to get them out of your head. And how
- 23:28Speaker 2: many of you, and I would love I wish we
- 23:30Speaker 2: could see a show of hands, But how many of
- 23:33Speaker 2: you think about all the things that you can possibly
- 23:37Speaker 2: think of to worry and wonder about, and it takes
- 23:41Speaker 2: up rent in your head. And who really needs to
- 23:44Speaker 2: have that space occupied in your head when there's so
- 23:47Speaker 2: many other things you have to think about. So try
- 23:49Speaker 2: this as a tip to clear your head and look
- 23:54Speaker 2: up writing things down at the beginning of your day
- 23:57Speaker 2: or at the end of the day, and really try
- 24:00Speaker 2: to find a way to start doing that on a
- 24:03Speaker 2: regular basis. If you struggle with that, then get one
- 24:07Speaker 2: of the journals. You can get them on Amazon. We've
- 24:11Speaker 2: had Amazon visits to our house pretty much every day
- 24:14Speaker 2: the last two weeks. It seems so I guess it's
- 24:17Speaker 2: a little Christmas in a box. But get a journal.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Get one that has if you type in the words
- 24:24Speaker 2: thought journal or mindful journal, it will give you little
- 24:30Speaker 2: questions so that you don't have to go through thinking
- 24:33Speaker 2: about how to write your life story. You can actually
- 24:36Speaker 2: just have questions to answer, and before you know it,
- 24:40Speaker 2: it'll start provoking some really good, good thoughts in your head, like, Wow,
- 24:44Speaker 2: you know, I didn't realize I wrote ten things down
- 24:47Speaker 2: that are really stressing me. And when you start writing
- 24:50Speaker 2: those ten things down, now you're getting it out of
- 24:53Speaker 2: your head. But there's more I want you to Now,
- 24:57Speaker 2: if you found ten things that are stressing, I want
- 25:01Speaker 2: you to write down ten things that you're grateful for.
- 25:03Speaker 2: And if you do this for a couple of days,
- 25:07Speaker 2: you would be hard pressed to see that you don't
- 25:09Speaker 2: just start to feel a little bit more reflective, a
- 25:12Speaker 2: little more relaxed. Maybe you don't feel like you own
- 25:15Speaker 2: the problem is deeply and that's what we're going for now.
- 25:19Speaker 2: If you're in the grief process, there could be something
- 25:23Speaker 2: really deep, really hard, other than just getting caught up
- 25:26Speaker 2: in the holidays, maybe more sad, more upset. It could
- 25:30Speaker 2: be a time of year where you've lost a loved one,
- 25:32Speaker 2: where you may have recently lost a loved one. It
- 25:36Speaker 2: may be something that you've gotten, bad news, you've gotten,
- 25:41Speaker 2: just anything. Dwelling on it is not going to change.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And we talk about the five phases of grief, and
- 25:48Speaker 2: you know it always comes around to where be first
- 25:50Speaker 2: you deny it, you go through all of the actions
- 25:53Speaker 2: of anger, and then you bargain and then you come
- 25:55Speaker 2: to acceptance. But it doesn't stay in acceptance. And so
- 26:01Speaker 2: with some of the triggers that couldn't be going on
- 26:04Speaker 2: certain times a year, or especially now around the holidays,
- 26:07Speaker 2: those memories, those triggers become so apparent and they're really
- 26:11Speaker 2: hard sometimes to be able to get past. And so
- 26:16Speaker 2: in trying to get past those, it's really important that
- 26:20Speaker 2: you put them in a place, allow yourself some time
- 26:23Speaker 2: to think about them. But you can't dwell on them
- 26:26Speaker 2: and so marinate on them for a little bit, write
- 26:30Speaker 2: some of those thoughts down in your journal, talk about
- 26:35Speaker 2: the sadness, the despair, the feelings that you're having. And
- 26:39Speaker 2: then again, if you can't start to feel better on
- 26:43Speaker 2: your own, this is a great time of year to
- 26:46Speaker 2: consider starting to talk to someone else. You don't have
- 26:49Speaker 2: to talk to a therapist every week, and there's many
- 26:51Speaker 2: therapy folks out there. You know, there's a lot of
- 26:54Speaker 2: good web based applications that if you're on the go
- 26:58Speaker 2: and you don't want to be in a specific situation
- 27:02Speaker 2: where you're tied up book in an appointment and having
- 27:05Speaker 2: yet one more thing to have to go to, go
- 27:07Speaker 2: to somebody on a telehealth site. Try them out. And
- 27:11Speaker 2: if you go to psychology today dot com, that is
- 27:14Speaker 2: a place that you can look up all different providers.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Some prescribe medications, some do therapy only, and you can
- 27:22Speaker 2: look at their bios and I encourage all of you,
- 27:25Speaker 2: especially this time of year. You know, just like we're
- 27:28Speaker 2: talking today, this is exactly what a telemed session is.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Like.
- 27:32Speaker 2: It's just you and the person on the other side,
- 27:34Speaker 2: and at least it will give you someone to unload
- 27:39Speaker 2: all those thoughts that you may be holding on to yourself,
- 27:42Speaker 2: feeling like I just can't deal with it, but yet
- 27:45Speaker 2: I feel so bad. And why is that important? Because again,
- 27:49Speaker 2: if I know I see at least eight or ten
- 27:52Speaker 2: people a day that have a really heavy weight, I
- 27:54Speaker 2: know there's a sea of thousands of people out there
- 27:57Speaker 2: this time of year that are not singing Christmas carols.
- 28:01Speaker 2: So we've got journaling, we've got hydration, we've got nutrition,
- 28:06Speaker 2: we've got therapy. What other things can be really helpful
- 28:11Speaker 2: around this time of year? Mental health days? If you
- 28:14Speaker 2: can't take the mental health day, you've got to schedule
- 28:18Speaker 2: something before or after work for you and do it.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Take a walk, book, a massage. It's really something that's
- 28:27Speaker 2: so important. It can change the way you feel today
- 28:31Speaker 2: just by working on changing your mindset, changing your scenery,
- 28:36Speaker 2: stepping out of a situation. And again, I don't know
- 28:40Speaker 2: if any of you are tuning in at work, but
- 28:43Speaker 2: wherever you might be, if you can't get out of work,
- 28:46Speaker 2: or if you can on a lunch break, get outside
- 28:49Speaker 2: of the building. You know, it may be cold in Minnesota,
- 28:52Speaker 2: but you know, two or three minutes of that crisp
- 28:55Speaker 2: air up there, it's just like doing a cryo treatment.
- 28:59Speaker 2: So where wherever you are, and you know what, if
- 29:01Speaker 2: it's raining, I'm sure there's an overhang, or you know
- 29:04Speaker 2: what's a few little rain drops, but get outside being outside,
- 29:09Speaker 2: especially during the day. The other thing we struggle with
- 29:12Speaker 2: is light. I think this time of year. I could
- 29:15Speaker 2: be wrong, but Alaska is brighter now and lighter. It
- 29:18Speaker 2: may be the opposite, but if anybody's in Alaska, let
- 29:21Speaker 2: me know. But I would say people probably thrive a
- 29:24Speaker 2: lot with more daily I know myself, and you know,
- 29:28Speaker 2: if we talk about the general area of the United States,
- 29:31Speaker 2: when it's lighter later, it feels good. You feel like
- 29:33Speaker 2: you can get more done in a day. If you're
- 29:35Speaker 2: feeling like the days are dark, you can't get much
- 29:38Speaker 2: done in a day. Then you have to be able
- 29:40Speaker 2: to create that light. We can get you fake light.
- 29:45Speaker 2: The fake light's great. Get those the bright lights that
- 29:48Speaker 2: they use for Oh my gosh, just flew right out
- 29:53Speaker 2: of my head. We were just talking about it. But
- 29:54Speaker 2: seasonal affective disorder and have those on Amazon too. Another
- 29:59Speaker 2: light that's it's really good, that can really help your
- 30:02Speaker 2: mental health. The company is called Magellan. I know there's
- 30:06Speaker 2: a bunch of companies out there, but I use Magellan
- 30:09Speaker 2: and given them a free plug today. But Magellan has
- 30:12Speaker 2: red light therapy, and if you put yourself on a
- 30:16Speaker 2: little red light mat and you put an eye protection
- 30:19Speaker 2: on because the red lights can be irritating to your eyes,
- 30:22Speaker 2: we recommend not to look at the red light. It
- 30:26Speaker 2: provides warmth, it provides healing, it provides pain relief, but
- 30:29Speaker 2: it also improves mood. I've got a big, full body
- 30:32Speaker 2: red light mat and probably one of my own self
- 30:36Speaker 2: care to do list for today is to jump on
- 30:38Speaker 2: that red light mat. Since the day was a bit
- 30:41Speaker 2: bumpy up until I got started with all of you.
- 30:43Speaker 2: So red light mats are fantastic. And we'll go over
- 30:46Speaker 2: all these things too before we finish today. There's a
- 30:50Speaker 2: couple questions about seeing people in other states. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 30:54Speaker 2: If you want to text into our office. It's nine
- 30:58Speaker 2: oh four three seven seven one one ninety six, and
- 31:03Speaker 2: we can set up a time to do a consult
- 31:05Speaker 2: with you anywhere in the United States. We can also
- 31:08Speaker 2: have you go on to magnoliab Wellness dot com. When
- 31:12Speaker 2: you go onto magnoliab Wellness dot com and it's Magnolia
- 31:17Speaker 2: A letter B Wellness dot com, you can put in
- 31:21Speaker 2: request to have us follow up with you and we
- 31:24Speaker 2: can help you pretty much from anywhere across the United
- 31:27Speaker 2: States with consultation, guidance, you know, therapy, treatments, whatever it
- 31:32Speaker 2: is that you might need, and we're here for you.
- 31:36Speaker 2: You know. That's the great part about having a network
- 31:38Speaker 2: of people is that even like the trauma group that
- 31:42Speaker 2: I work with the Trauma Group, I also want to
- 31:45Speaker 2: share many of you out there either know of someone
- 31:49Speaker 2: or you could be someone also who has lost a
- 31:53Speaker 2: loved one during that pandemic. The Betrayal USA dot org
- 32:00Speaker 2: Betrayal Project betrail Project USA dot org is a wonderful
- 32:05Speaker 2: site that will help you to connect with other people
- 32:10Speaker 2: who have lost loved ones during the pandemic. It's a
- 32:14Speaker 2: great support. There's a lot of information on that site
- 32:18Speaker 2: and you can also tune into some of the support groups.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I do a Thursday night support group for trauma folks,
- 32:24Speaker 2: and we do a lot of teaching, a lot of education,
- 32:27Speaker 2: and then we open it up to sharing if you
- 32:29Speaker 2: want so. Betrayal Project USA dot org is a great site,
- 32:35Speaker 2: and I think they had that up there on the
- 32:38Speaker 2: on the little ticker across the podcast today. If you
- 32:42Speaker 2: want to reach out, like I said, nine oh four
- 32:44Speaker 2: three seven seven one one six, and you can text
- 32:49Speaker 2: uh meme information and we'll reach back out to you,
- 32:52Speaker 2: or Magnolia letter b Wellness dot com is a great
- 32:57Speaker 2: way to reach us. So again, there's been a couple
- 33:00Speaker 2: folks that have asked some questions on here, and I
- 33:03Speaker 2: think the biggest thing that we started talking about today
- 33:06Speaker 2: is how to get through the holidays, and it's just
- 33:09Speaker 2: it's so important during this time of year. I have
- 33:12Speaker 2: to shift to the other side. Let's see if this works.
- 33:15Speaker 2: There we go getting away from the sunshine. By next week,
- 33:19Speaker 2: I'll have that problem solved because I can't have the
- 33:22Speaker 2: sun like eating on my face. But this is like
- 33:25Speaker 2: my home office away from home. But it's my safe place.
- 33:30Speaker 2: It's very comfortable here. I got my dogs at my feet,
- 33:33Speaker 2: and it's very grounding. So that's another tip for what
- 33:39Speaker 2: you might be going through this time of year. How
- 33:42Speaker 2: many of you know how to ground rounding is very
- 33:45Speaker 2: comforting because it's really putting you in touch with just
- 33:48Speaker 2: the elements of our world. And it's important because the
- 33:54Speaker 2: elements around us, the air we breathe, the round where
- 33:57Speaker 2: we put our feet. I just venture to say, maybe
- 34:00Speaker 2: even the concrete probably has some element to it, but
- 34:03Speaker 2: I'm talking about dirt, grass and sand. There's an elemental
- 34:07Speaker 2: focus and that force of positive negative energy. You really
- 34:12Speaker 2: need to be able to put yourself in a place
- 34:14Speaker 2: where you can smell with your senses, smell a flower,
- 34:19Speaker 2: smell the fur tree, you know, smell what's around you,
- 34:23Speaker 2: put your feet on the ground and let the ground
- 34:26Speaker 2: work some sort of elemental energy. It's very RESTful, very peaceful,
- 34:31Speaker 2: and it will fill you up. You know. I go
- 34:33Speaker 2: out put my feet in the sand, I always feel
- 34:35Speaker 2: amazing after I have my feet in the sand. There's
- 34:38Speaker 2: tons of energy and we just need to capitalize on
- 34:41Speaker 2: it because you know, things like this and what we're
- 34:44Speaker 2: on the computer, these all produce a fair amount of
- 34:48Speaker 2: negative energy. I know enough to be dangerous about five
- 34:52Speaker 2: G and all it does to kind of deplete us,
- 34:55Speaker 2: and yet we can't stop it, but we can fight
- 34:58Speaker 2: against it. And if we can fight against it, those
- 35:02Speaker 2: are some of the things that will also help your mood.
- 35:05Speaker 2: You know, you may just be overladen with some of
- 35:09Speaker 2: the energy in all the technology. So when I tell
- 35:14Speaker 2: you about self care, it's finding ways to utilize different,
- 35:19Speaker 2: different techniques, different things that are available to us to help.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I normally have some of my different stones and quartz
- 35:30Speaker 2: type bracelets. The elements that you can find in some
- 35:34Speaker 2: of these different stones. Again, I don't want to see
- 35:37Speaker 2: or make it sound like they're magical, but there's a
- 35:40Speaker 2: healing element and when you are at your worst, where
- 35:44Speaker 2: I'd like to see us go forward, especially now until
- 35:48Speaker 2: the risk unfolding of twenty twenty six, is let's start
- 35:52Speaker 2: making some plans to do better self care as we
- 35:56Speaker 2: go into twenty twenty six. And you know, kind of
- 35:59Speaker 2: like Leicester's, you're not taught to care for yourself, but
- 36:03Speaker 2: we have to start somewhere. And I can promise you
- 36:06Speaker 2: some of the best moves that I've made in my
- 36:09Speaker 2: life was to change jobs, change careers, change a relationship,
- 36:15Speaker 2: let go of things, that I cannot control in my life,
- 36:19Speaker 2: make purposeful time for myself and know that when my
- 36:24Speaker 2: battery is low, that I put it on the charger
- 36:29Speaker 2: to reset. And sometimes that means you are going to
- 36:33Speaker 2: have to tell other people no. And if you are
- 36:36Speaker 2: alone and you don't have to tell anybody no, and
- 36:40Speaker 2: that's part of why you're so upset or sad or down.
- 36:44Speaker 2: I want you to look at some other ways to engage.
- 36:47Speaker 2: And so between engaging and stepping back, you got to
- 36:51Speaker 2: find where you are on that. I do want to
- 36:54Speaker 2: throw that out as well, you know, and we've talked
- 36:56Speaker 2: about it throughout the year. This is the time of
- 36:58Speaker 2: year if you've not heard and it still surprises me,
- 37:01Speaker 2: but it's okay because we're here to tell you. Nine
- 37:04Speaker 2: eight eight is a number if you are at the
- 37:07Speaker 2: last thought in your mind that you don't want to
- 37:10Speaker 2: be here. Nine eight eight is a very safe number
- 37:12Speaker 2: to call. It's only three numbers, nine eighty and you
- 37:16Speaker 2: can reach out to someone who will be there to
- 37:18Speaker 2: talk you down and through to get some conscious awareness
- 37:24Speaker 2: about yourself, to realize why you're here and why you
- 37:28Speaker 2: can make a difference, if just for yourself, but there
- 37:31Speaker 2: is probably another reason why you are here. We all
- 37:35Speaker 2: have a journey. We don't always know what that journey is.
- 37:39Speaker 2: But if you're not feeling like you're right for the journey,
- 37:42Speaker 2: or you're not meant for the journey, or you want
- 37:44Speaker 2: your journey to end, dial nine eighty if that's the fastest, quickest,
- 37:48Speaker 2: only way that you will trust to reach out to
- 37:52Speaker 2: someone anonymously. No one will come to your door, no
- 37:55Speaker 2: one will call you back unless you ask for help.
- 37:59Speaker 2: If you reach out, they'll be there and they'll give
- 38:01Speaker 2: you some really good sound support. So keep that number.
- 38:04Speaker 2: And if you have someone that you know is really hurting,
- 38:07Speaker 2: ninety eight eight is a great lifeline and I've had
- 38:10Speaker 2: people use it and it really has made the difference.
- 38:14Speaker 2: You know. And again I see this often, but many
- 38:16Speaker 2: of you probably don't, but it may be you that's hurting.
- 38:20Speaker 2: My other point that I want to share with all
- 38:22Speaker 2: of you is why do we spend so much energy
- 38:26Speaker 2: at this time of year worrying about the holidays. Why
- 38:30Speaker 2: do we spend so much time this year getting caught
- 38:33Speaker 2: up in the must dews, the have to's, the shoulda
- 38:37Speaker 2: kuda wouldhas? I wish I didn't have to see I
- 38:40Speaker 2: wish I didn't have to do. Why don't you let
- 38:43Speaker 2: go of all? I shared with the patient the other day,
- 38:45Speaker 2: because they were having such a time and the last
- 38:48Speaker 2: thing they wanted to do was get caught up in
- 38:50Speaker 2: the holidays. It was already so upsetting to them and
- 38:53Speaker 2: so stressful. And I told him about a holiday at
- 38:57Speaker 2: Christmas that we departed. We didn't spend the regular holiday
- 39:03Speaker 2: with family, and we booked a last minute trip to
- 39:07Speaker 2: North Carolina and we went skiing. We were to really
- 39:10Speaker 2: quaint little lodge. You wouldn't have known it was Christmas
- 39:14Speaker 2: except there were some things around. But we just went
- 39:17Speaker 2: and did a physical activity. I want to encourage you
- 39:22Speaker 2: to embrace the thought of if you can take a
- 39:26Speaker 2: step away from your routine, and if you're not in
- 39:30Speaker 2: the holiday spirit, or if you don't want to celebrate
- 39:32Speaker 2: the holidays, you don't have to, and that's really in
- 39:36Speaker 2: your control. You don't have to answer to anyone, you
- 39:39Speaker 2: don't have to explain to anyone. And if you're alone
- 39:42Speaker 2: and you're really sad and you want to do something
- 39:46Speaker 2: and you just don't want to have to face the holidays,
- 39:49Speaker 2: and for I know there's people out there that they
- 39:52Speaker 2: would rather just end it all than have to go
- 39:54Speaker 2: through the holiday. Don't end it, go explore. And my
- 39:58Speaker 2: message to all of you today is take this time.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Whether you're embracing the holidays and having a great time,
- 40:06Speaker 2: perhaps suggest to someone that you know is hurting, or
- 40:11Speaker 2: take the message for yourself and do some exploration from now,
- 40:16Speaker 2: anytime now all the way through till January. That may
- 40:20Speaker 2: mean taking a day trip, that may mean taking a risk,
- 40:24Speaker 2: and if you have the ability, go book a cruise,
- 40:27Speaker 2: go book a trip, Go do something for you. It
- 40:32Speaker 2: may be the best thing you've ever do for yourself.
- 40:36Speaker 2: And whatever it is, do have fun. If you don't
- 40:40Speaker 2: feel like you can have fun again. Another tip, the
- 40:45Speaker 2: best way to break the cycle and to get you
- 40:48Speaker 2: out of some of the deep, dark, sad, hurting feelings
- 40:51Speaker 2: is to smile. And it's to laugh. Whether you turn
- 40:55Speaker 2: on a comedy, whether you turn on a funny movie,
- 40:58Speaker 2: whether you put on is that on Serious XM. There's
- 41:02Speaker 2: a couple of laugh tracks. Laugh channel. Serious XM has
- 41:05Speaker 2: a couple of comedy channels. Start with that, but find
- 41:11Speaker 2: a way to go have some fun, whether it's an
- 41:14Speaker 2: hour or a day or a weekend, or take the
- 41:17Speaker 2: whole Christmas week. Whatever you can manage to do and
- 41:20Speaker 2: do something out of the ordinary, that's what is needed.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Perhaps in your life. You don't have to do what
- 41:29Speaker 2: the world is doing. I think we have had not
- 41:32Speaker 2: many you have seen Christmas decorations. I think as early
- 41:34Speaker 2: as July this year. I know I started seeing them
- 41:37Speaker 2: sometime in August or September. Couldn't even get through Halloween
- 41:41Speaker 2: before they're pushing Christmas. Now we're approaching the holidays and
- 41:46Speaker 2: we still have three weeks to go. I'm almost over
- 41:49Speaker 2: Christmas before it started. And again, this is meant for
- 41:55Speaker 2: anybody who just is caught up and needs to go.
- 41:58Speaker 2: You know what, I'm gonna worry about the holidays. I'm
- 42:01Speaker 2: gonna go buy myself something nice this weekend. I'm gonna
- 42:04Speaker 2: go do something nice for myself. You absolutely, just like
- 42:08Speaker 2: in an airplane, have to put your own oxygen mask on.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I like to make it a full body experience. So
- 42:15Speaker 2: I want you to take care of yourself on the inside.
- 42:18Speaker 2: I want you to do something nice for yourself on
- 42:20Speaker 2: the outside, and I want you to do something that
- 42:23Speaker 2: lets you laugh and enjoy you even if you're in
- 42:28Speaker 2: the darkest part of life. Right now, do something for yourself.
- 42:32Speaker 2: It's that important. And again, if anyone is really out
- 42:36Speaker 2: there hurting, you can always reach out here. We're at
- 42:40Speaker 2: nine oh four three seven seven one, happy to send
- 42:45Speaker 2: some support, help ideas. Next week we're going to do

- 42:53Speaker 2: have a special guest on and we might do some
- 42:56Speaker 2: coffee chat for the for the session that we're going
- 43:00Speaker 2: to do next week. It's funny, I put my cup
- 43:03Speaker 2: up and I actually have a clearer screen. Don't know
- 43:06Speaker 2: what that is, but maybe I'm bringing clarity to the situation.
- 43:10Speaker 2: But you know, mental wellness and mental health, you know,
- 43:14Speaker 2: in all seriousness, folks, you're not going to get it
- 43:17Speaker 2: anywhere unless you start with you and whatever that might be,
- 43:20Speaker 2: whether it's journaling, finding a therapist, going to Psychology today
- 43:25Speaker 2: dot com, giving us a text, or sending us a
- 43:28Speaker 2: message on Magnolia b Wellness dot com. Get in some
- 43:33Speaker 2: stem cell patches, change in your diet, get yourself to
- 43:37Speaker 2: the gym, take in a moment a day, take a
- 43:40Speaker 2: day trip, take a weekend trip, take a cruise, get
- 43:43Speaker 2: a massage, read a book, take five minutes before your
- 43:47Speaker 2: day starts, or take twenty minutes after your day ends
- 43:50Speaker 2: and be feed in the dirt, go outside and smell
- 43:54Speaker 2: the crisp aar. Go be with a friend, Maybe call
- 43:58Speaker 2: a friend that you've not talked to in a long time.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Maybe rekindle a relationship that you really want to have
- 44:04Speaker 2: a better relationship with. It can be very healing ment
- 44:08Speaker 2: a relationship. It starts with you. So those are the
- 44:12Speaker 2: things that I want you guys to focus on. It's
- 44:14Speaker 2: really that important. And let's go into twenty twenty six.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I don't know why I almost in twenty twenty two,
- 44:21Speaker 2: but let's go to twenty twenty six with a list
