- 0:30Speaker 3: Trek podcast.
- 0:31Speaker 4: Today.
- 0:32Speaker 3: On the show, we're going to be reviewing the Star
- 0:35Speaker 3: Trek episode Deep Space nine series Acclamation mill, I mean
- 0:40Speaker 3: Starklet Academy series Acclamation Mill.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Plus. We've got Star Trek.
- 0:44Speaker 3: News and your listener feedback, and now the Emissary of
- 0:50Speaker 3: Trek Cast, Daniel Reyes.
- 0:54Speaker 5: I'm not the emissary very much, so, sir, yes you are.
- 0:59Speaker 4: You are of truck Cast. Yeah, you are of the
- 1:02Speaker 4: truck Cast.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Well that's true. I'm of the Internet. I was like,
- 1:10Speaker 5: what's this fist doing the postrong? It's the digital touching.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Oh wait that sounds really bad right now.
- 1:18Speaker 4: No please don't digital touch me.
- 1:21Speaker 5: No, no, no, not at all. Yeah. Yeah, so we'll
- 1:25Speaker 5: definitely talk about that episode. We also got some Star
- 1:28Speaker 5: Trek news right now. It's really hard to find news
- 1:31Speaker 5: stories because almost every single one is like, oh, let's
- 1:33Speaker 5: recap the latest episode, like every new story, so right,
- 1:37Speaker 5: but I found stories so I'm excited about that there's
- 1:41Speaker 5: gonna be something in there for toy collectors, so that
- 1:44Speaker 5: should be exciting. But how you guys been.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Good? Good?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yeah, right on, a lot of a lot of crap
- 1:52Speaker 3: going around, a lot of sickness going around, a lot
- 1:54Speaker 3: of yeah, a lot of cold and snowy and.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah cold snow yeah, Star Trek.
- 2:02Speaker 4: I am so over this winter.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Sometimes I feel like I want to do this show
- 2:10Speaker 2: two weeks after the episode comes out, because we did
- 2:13Speaker 2: a whole show on last week's episode, and then I
- 2:16Speaker 2: had a whole week of it like rolling around, yeah
- 2:20Speaker 2: my head and like I don't want to rehash last
- 2:24Speaker 2: week's episode, but you know, new things came to mind
- 2:27Speaker 2: that just don't make sense. Oh yeah, and I don't
- 2:32Speaker 2: And I don't know when to uh, when to.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Discuss them, yeah, or if to discuss them, Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You know what I mean. And I don't know.
- 2:44Speaker 5: So there's there's so many like, there's so many plot holes. Yeah,
- 2:48Speaker 5: there's a giant there's a giant one in this episode.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It's terrible.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Yeah, terrible, yeah, terrible. It frustrates me to no end.
- 2:57Speaker 5: I just last night, just side note last night, I too.
- 3:00Speaker 5: It's called the table read where we read somebody's script
- 3:03Speaker 5: out loud and we helped the writer like kind of
- 3:05Speaker 5: flesh out their script, right.
- 3:07Speaker 2: The thing these people are supposed to be doing. But
- 3:09Speaker 2: that got it?
- 3:10Speaker 4: Got it?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:10Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. So like I went to
- 3:14Speaker 5: this and I was thinking about, like do they not
- 3:16Speaker 5: do this? Like they don't, they don't, they have to not,
- 3:20Speaker 5: or they don't care. But we'll get into the plot
- 3:23Speaker 5: holes because there's quite a many of them.
- 3:25Speaker 2: So last week's episode, yeah, yeah, go for it. Can
- 3:31Speaker 2: we can? We touch on it again? Good briefly? And
- 3:33Speaker 2: I got a whole bunch of stuff here and I
- 3:35Speaker 2: don't know if I'm gonna cover all of it. But
- 3:37Speaker 2: the whole crux of the episode was that Klingons are
- 3:40Speaker 2: a ritualistic society, right, Okay, their entire society is based
- 3:46Speaker 2: on the warrior mentality, right, and this show is true
- 3:50Speaker 2: to that, but only when it wants to be. Yeah
- 3:55Speaker 2: you know that, Like, for an example, Jaden wouldn't eat
- 3:58Speaker 2: warrior stew because he's not he's not supposed to. But
- 4:03Speaker 2: the whole point of his characters in this show is
- 4:05Speaker 2: that he does stuff that he's not supposed to as
- 4:08Speaker 2: a clanon or doesn't do the things that he's supposed
- 4:11Speaker 2: to do. Klingons don't accept anything that they can't conquer, right,
- 4:20Speaker 2: that was my takeaway. That's why they wouldn't accept the planet. Okay,
- 4:26Speaker 2: that makes the idea of a triad house even more ridiculous.
- 4:32Speaker 2: If you can't accept charity, if you won't take anything
- 4:36Speaker 2: without conquer it, conquer it. The idea of sharing another
- 4:40Speaker 2: man's wife makes zero sense. Or if you're a man
- 4:48Speaker 2: and you and you allow someone to share your wife
- 4:51Speaker 2: without him killing you first, doesn't make doesn't make any sense.
- 4:58Speaker 2: You know, Klingons have a patriarchal society. Except for that
- 5:02Speaker 2: brief moment of time in Star Trek, six women couldn't
- 5:07Speaker 2: be on the High Council. They couldn't be they could
- 5:09Speaker 2: be chancellor. This is the whole reason that the Doras
- 5:12Speaker 2: sisters had to come up, had to find the illegitimate
- 5:15Speaker 2: son of Doras to Uh to challenge uh Galron taking
- 5:22Speaker 2: the throne. This is the whole reason that Groca had
- 5:25Speaker 2: to marry Quork, because she couldn't lead a house on
- 5:29Speaker 2: her own. You know, the idea that Jayden has two
- 5:35Speaker 2: fathers makes zero, zero sense if instead it was his
- 5:42Speaker 2: father had two wives, that would make a little more sense.
- 5:46Speaker 2: But even then, I think the wives would kill each other.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Inklingon society predominance.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, what you could argue the guys would have doo.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah. They're trying hard to say, look how different and
- 6:01Speaker 2: open and progressive we are without actually considering the story
- 6:04Speaker 2: and the rules that they've already established for themselves. And
- 6:09Speaker 2: I think the detractors would say, not all Klingons are
- 6:12Speaker 2: the same, and it's small minded if you think that.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But the whole point of this episode is that all
- 6:19Speaker 2: Klingons are the same, and that's why they won't accept
- 6:22Speaker 2: that planet. M you mean to tell me there isn't
- 6:27Speaker 2: like a small pocket of Klingons. It'd be like, you
- 6:29Speaker 2: know what, we'll take the planet. We'll take it. We'll
- 6:32Speaker 2: take it, and we will procreate and the Klingon species
- 6:35Speaker 2: will live on. And if those Klingons over there die
- 6:38Speaker 2: fighting each other in space, then that's on them. But
- 6:42Speaker 2: we're going to be the new Klingon empire to another day. Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 5: Well, and you could even argue like, because it's been
- 6:49Speaker 5: a thousand years, right, that's the whole premise. You could
- 6:53Speaker 5: even argue like, maybe there is a subset of Klingons
- 6:56Speaker 5: who did conquer a different planet, and they're like, we
- 6:59Speaker 5: live non traditionally here. That's why we have a triune
- 7:02Speaker 5: houses or whatever. Right, Like, their whole thing is that
- 7:05Speaker 5: they're different or they're yeah, they're incorporated more with other
- 7:09Speaker 5: other species.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It's just the whole thing doesn't make sense. If there
- 7:13Speaker 2: are Klingons that are progressive enough that they're gay or
- 7:16Speaker 2: bisexual or polyamorous, then surely there are Klingons who would
- 7:20Speaker 2: accept charity and take this new planet to prevent their
- 7:23Speaker 2: own extinction.
- 7:25Speaker 5: That's a good point.
- 7:25Speaker 2: So so once again it's you know, it's not intolerance,
- 7:30Speaker 2: it's bad writing. It's bad writing, yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 7:38Speaker 2: All right, Well that's got it. I got it off
- 7:40Speaker 2: my chest. Y.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Oh, don't worry. There's more bad writing to talk about later.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Oh oh, I I know you know my wife I
- 7:48Speaker 2: I before I came down here to do this, I
- 7:50Speaker 2: hear a kiss and said I'll be downstairs taking a
- 7:53Speaker 2: ship on star Trek, and it's like it's's like a yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 2: and I'm like, I know, I it's so hard when
- 8:04Speaker 2: I love something so much, Yeah, and I see it
- 8:08Speaker 2: turning into something else. I guess that's the best way to.
- 8:12Speaker 4: I felt it.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yeah, when I was I was watching this episode in
- 8:16Speaker 5: the plot holes, I will get into them, I h.
- 8:20Speaker 5: I remember thinking, I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Yeah, but all right, let's get to the Star Trek
- 8:28Speaker 5: News because sure good stuff in there, at.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Least Star Trek News.
- 8:34Speaker 5: All right, so our first news story comes to us
- 8:36Speaker 5: from Gizmoto. That's one of my favorite websites to say
- 8:40Speaker 5: the name of. I don't know if you saw this, Dan,
- 8:43Speaker 5: you're a toy collector like myself, but Nacelle is going
- 8:47Speaker 5: to be coming out with a build a bridge set
- 8:50Speaker 5: with their toy line, their upcoming toy line. This is
- 8:53Speaker 5: supposed to be in line with the figures, so the
- 8:55Speaker 5: figures were able to to be there perfectly. It's a
- 8:59Speaker 5: one ten scales, so this thing is going to be massive,
- 9:02Speaker 5: and they yeah, oh, I'm sorry, Oh, I was gonna say,
- 9:07Speaker 5: we don't know the price point on this, but they're
- 9:09Speaker 5: going to be selling it in individual sections, so separate
- 9:13Speaker 5: from the action figures.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Separate from the action figures. Yeah. See that's see, that's strange, Yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 2: because usually so we've seen stuff like this before. Usually
- 9:23Speaker 2: what this is is each figure in the series comes
- 9:27Speaker 2: with a piece of a larger figure or a set
- 9:32Speaker 2: piece like this. And you know, if you want to
- 9:35Speaker 2: build the whole Juggernaut figure, you have to buy all
- 9:39Speaker 2: seven X Men in that series, right because one comes
- 9:43Speaker 2: with an arm, one comes with another arm. You get
- 9:45Speaker 2: the head, the torso, the legs and whatnot. And it's
- 9:48Speaker 2: a marketing thing to get you to buy all of them,
- 9:51Speaker 2: not just the ones that you like. So I don't know,
- 9:58Speaker 2: it's it's strange that they're going to sell these if
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's really what they're doing, they're gonna sell these pieces separate.
- 10:05Speaker 5: I had to look that up a couple of times
- 10:07Speaker 5: to make sure that I was right about that, that
- 10:09Speaker 5: they're selling it set there. But you can see it
- 10:11Speaker 5: that right there compared to a Spock figure. How big
- 10:16Speaker 5: this thing is just each section? Yeah, and you have
- 10:18Speaker 5: to remember their figures are seven inches, so that's gonna
- 10:23Speaker 5: be a massive, massive things. So I get why they
- 10:26Speaker 5: didn't just throw it in with with an actual figure.
- 10:29Speaker 5: It's too expensive, you know, Yeah, but you're yeah, I.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Feel like you're gonna run into a situation then where
- 10:40Speaker 2: you know the captain Captain's chair is going to sell
- 10:42Speaker 2: out right now. Yeah, but the whatever, the Science station too,
- 10:48Speaker 2: they're gonna have a million. They're gonna have a million.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Of them, right right. For sure. I thought about that too,
- 10:53Speaker 5: because everyone's gonna want the Captain Chair and get their
- 10:56Speaker 5: Kirk and that now you're done, you don't need anything else,
- 10:59Speaker 5: you know. But you know there are completionists out there
- 11:02Speaker 5: who will want the whole thing and it'll be it's
- 11:05Speaker 5: what a twelve part set or thirteen perd set, something
- 11:08Speaker 5: like that, twelve So yeah, even like the bridge right
- 11:13Speaker 5: there is its own thing and then the Captain Chair
- 11:16Speaker 5: is all by itself. So don't know the prices yet
- 11:19Speaker 5: on these things, but they're supposed to be. They're saying
- 11:23Speaker 5: if all goes well, and you know, Nacell has had
- 11:26Speaker 5: some issues with getting things released, they've had some issues,
- 11:30Speaker 5: but they're trying. If all goes well, you should be
- 11:34Speaker 5: able to complete the whole bridge by the end of
- 11:36Speaker 5: the year.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah. So I'll tell you just from personal experience, some
- 11:42Speaker 2: people are going to be a little gun shy on this. Yes,
- 11:46Speaker 2: So around two thousand and two when Enterprise came out,
- 11:50Speaker 2: art Asylum did seven inch and Enterprise figures and you
- 11:54Speaker 2: can get the regular figure or you can get it
- 11:56Speaker 2: de luxe where it came with the section of the bridge,
- 12:00Speaker 2: and the idea was eventually you'll be able to build
- 12:03Speaker 2: the whole bridge.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I remember this.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 2: They never finished it, right, so it was impossible. So
- 12:09Speaker 2: you have people who shelled out a few hundred bucks
- 12:11Speaker 2: and they had sixty percent of a bridge or something. Yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 2: and uh, you know, fifty percent of a crew. Because
- 12:19Speaker 2: there were people that never never came out. They never
- 12:21Speaker 2: did They never did Hoshi in her uniform, they never
- 12:26Speaker 2: did doctor Flox. They did both of them in the
- 12:30Speaker 2: like environmental suit, but not in their regular starfleet uniform.
- 12:37Speaker 2: One of them, I think, I think Trip Trip came
- 12:41Speaker 2: out in his bridge uniform, but it was an exclusive.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You had to order it through a different retailer or something. Yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 2: it was. It was a mess. It was a mess.
- 12:51Speaker 2: So I don't know, you gotta have the space to
- 12:53Speaker 2: display something like that.
- 12:54Speaker 5: That's the other thing too.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Look, look I love it. I love in front of it. Yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 2: three by I'm sitting in front of a three by
- 13:00Speaker 2: three card table. I'm like, I don't know, this might
- 13:04Speaker 2: take up the whole table.
- 13:05Speaker 5: See, And I was about to ask you, are you
- 13:07Speaker 5: going to buy this thing?
- 13:08Speaker 2: No? Absolutely not No, No, I have a I have
- 13:15Speaker 2: I have a nineteen eighty five g I Joe Uss
- 13:21Speaker 2: flag aircraft CA. Oh wow, it's it's seven feet long.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Yeah, it's taller than you.
- 13:28Speaker 2: It's a coffee table. Yeah, it's in my storage unit.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I don't have anywhere to put it. I won't part
- 13:35Speaker 2: with it because you know, they're they're few and far between,
- 13:39Speaker 2: and they just keep going up in price. And someday
- 13:42Speaker 2: I would like to have somewhere in my house that
- 13:45Speaker 2: is not the living room to display something like that,
- 13:48Speaker 2: but right now that's not the case.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 2: So I have a TNG bridge set from nineteen ninety three.
- 13:58Speaker 2: It's in a box. It's storage because ever pleased to
- 14:00Speaker 2: put it? So right My Proton packs right over there though.
- 14:06Speaker 5: That's cool. Yeah, I I so like. I love Voltron.
- 14:10Speaker 5: I love collecting the Vultron toys. And they just announced
- 14:13Speaker 5: that they're going to make new Voltrons for the for
- 14:15Speaker 5: the upcoming movie. Oh there it is nice? Yeah, yeah, nice, sorry.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Go ahead Vultron.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, so they're gonna come out with new toys
- 14:28Speaker 5: and I'm already driating, Like where am I gonna put
- 14:30Speaker 5: these things. Yeah yeah, So all right, so that's that
- 14:34Speaker 5: new story. Our next news story comes to us from
- 14:38Speaker 5: slash film. Actually, the next two stories come to us
- 14:40Speaker 5: from slash Film, but this first one it's kind of
- 14:44Speaker 5: interesting because we'll get into it a little bit later.
- 14:47Speaker 5: As far as the episode, but apparently Starfleet Academy episode
- 14:51Speaker 5: five has kind of removed a Star Trek comic book
- 14:54Speaker 5: from official cannon. There's the current storyline or just finish
- 15:00Speaker 5: up something like that where they did a storyline where
- 15:02Speaker 5: Cisco has returned and what does that mean for DS
- 15:06Speaker 5: nine He's got to go on a mission for the profits.
- 15:09Speaker 5: And so because of episode five of the slatest episode
- 15:15Speaker 5: where they pretty much say that Cisco never returned, that
- 15:19Speaker 5: kind of ruins the comic book.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, there that read the comics.
- 15:30Speaker 5: You know, these comics are extremely popular. I don't know
- 15:34Speaker 5: if they're like Marvel and DC popular, but they are popular.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Anybody in the chat read the comics, I'd be curious
- 15:41Speaker 4: to know.
- 15:41Speaker 5: I would be curious about that too. Maybe, you know,
- 15:45Speaker 5: I'll try to find the comic book sale in the
- 15:46Speaker 5: numbers for next episode. Maybe I can see comparatively where
- 15:49Speaker 5: they're at That would be an interesting thing, all right. Uh,
- 15:53Speaker 5: and then the last news story comes to us, also
- 15:57Speaker 5: from Slash Film, and this will be a nice dovetail
- 16:01Speaker 5: to uh when we get to our big discussion. But
- 16:05Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys saw it or missed it,
- 16:06Speaker 5: but there was a giant easter egg in the latest
- 16:09Speaker 5: episode and one of the producers I forget who it was.
- 16:15Speaker 5: They basically said that if you look up at the
- 16:17Speaker 5: clouds at the end of the episode, you will see
- 16:20Speaker 5: a giant easter egg. Dan is naughty. You must have
- 16:23Speaker 5: caught it.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you can just just about make out the
- 16:26Speaker 2: face of Benjamin Cisco.
- 16:28Speaker 5: The polls, right, yes, so yeah, if you miss that
- 16:33Speaker 5: right at the end of the episode when they when
- 16:35Speaker 5: they have the voice over and the clouds look in
- 16:38Speaker 5: the clouds like like Mufasa in The Lion King, you
- 16:42Speaker 5: will see him in the clouds.
- 16:45Speaker 4: You know.
- 16:48Speaker 5: He's right there.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Can I just say for a minute, yeah, sorock lofton
- 16:56Speaker 2: twenty six rock Lofton, if they were to make a
- 17:02Speaker 2: Deep Space nine season eight right now, he could play
- 17:06Speaker 2: Benjamin Cisco. Yeah, I would buy it. Yeah, I would
- 17:10Speaker 2: buy him as Benjamin Cisco.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it's crazy how similar look. Yeah, and they're not
- 17:18Speaker 5: related in real.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Life, no, right, no, And I don't know if he
- 17:22Speaker 2: normally shaves his head or if that's something he did
- 17:24Speaker 2: for the for the part to kind of show he
- 17:27Speaker 2: was falling in his father's footsteps, but you know he
- 17:31Speaker 2: looks like him. Yeah, i'd buy it.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Yeah for sure. So yeah, so that's all the news stories. Well,
- 17:41Speaker 5: should we get to the main topic? Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 17:48Speaker 5: fun will now come out, all right, So our main
- 17:56Speaker 5: topic is reviewing the latest episode of Starfleet Academy, episode five.
- 18:01Speaker 5: I don't even know the name of the episode.
- 18:04Speaker 4: But serious acclamation mill.
- 18:06Speaker 5: There you go, there you go. So we're very clearly
- 18:09Speaker 5: doing episodes about each individual main cadet, and this time
- 18:14Speaker 5: it was Sam's term, so we're doing an episode on her.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:21Speaker 5: These photos are gonna be out of order too, because
- 18:23Speaker 5: Paramount does not release them in order, and I don't
- 18:25Speaker 5: I don't care to try to figure it out.
- 18:27Speaker 2: So I'm out of order. You're out of order. This
- 18:29Speaker 2: whole show's out of order.
- 18:31Speaker 5: That's right, that's right. So ah, what did you guys think?
- 18:37Speaker 5: Did you like it? Did you not?
- 18:38Speaker 4: I liked this episode?
- 18:40Speaker 5: Okay, I did, Okay, it was.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Fan service, and I don't care, and I'm not sna
- 18:47Speaker 3: apologize for liking it, Okay, I uh I when I
- 18:52Speaker 3: you know, when I when I when I saw Sarrock
- 18:57Speaker 3: lofton huh you know I you know, it brought a
- 19:00Speaker 3: tear to my eye when I heard the theme. It
- 19:02Speaker 3: brought a tear to my eye when I when when
- 19:06Speaker 3: it was revealed who it was, Dax, it brought a
- 19:09Speaker 3: tear to my eye when I heard Averybrook's voice over.
- 19:12Speaker 3: You know, it brought me back and it was nostalgia.
- 19:16Speaker 3: And I don't care if it was fan service. It's
- 19:19Speaker 3: still like I said, it was nostalgic and it I
- 19:24Speaker 3: have a deep, deep love for Deep Face nine.
- 19:28Speaker 4: And uh you know it was it was.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Her, And I go, uh, wait a minute, is I'm
- 19:38Speaker 3: looking at the actress that played the Cardassi and I'm like,
- 19:40Speaker 3: wait a.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Minute, is that is that tawny news? So oh yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 4: my wife looks it up. She goes, yeah, well.
- 19:46Speaker 3: And then uh my uh my wife did oh. I
- 19:49Speaker 3: was so mad at my wife and she she admitted
- 19:54Speaker 3: halfway like it wasn't halfway through the episodes. Towards the
- 19:56Speaker 3: end of the episode, I'm like, is that Tawny Newsome?
- 19:59Speaker 3: And so she starts, she gets on her phone and
- 20:02Speaker 3: I hadn't figured anything out yet, yeah, and uh yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 3: there she is and she goes, yeah, she's playing blah
- 20:07Speaker 3: blah blah Dax and I.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Go, oh, you just ruined it for me.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Oh so yeah, so we're getting a divorce and uh
- 20:20Speaker 4: oh wow, No, I'm kidding. I forgave her. I forgave her.
- 20:24Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought a spoiler alert if you haven't
- 20:27Speaker 3: seen the episode, I thought that was interesting.
- 20:31Speaker 4: I know a lot of people are gonna be pissed
- 20:32Speaker 4: off about that, but whatever. Dez brought up a good
- 20:36Speaker 4: point though, how long do the Symbians live?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Not this long?
- 20:41Speaker 4: You don't think so?
- 20:42Speaker 2: No, no, why not? I was established in Deep Space nine.
- 20:47Speaker 2: They live several hundred years. This is thousands of years
- 20:52Speaker 2: at this point.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Well in the Daks, I mean, is already three hundred
- 20:54Speaker 3: years old by the time we get to Deep Space
- 20:56Speaker 3: nine too.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Am I wrong in thinking the Dax to be? Didn't
- 21:00Speaker 5: it pop up also in Discovery? Wasn't that like one
- 21:03Speaker 5: of the Symbians helping out Gray or one of the I.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Don't know, I don't I don't remember. But while, but
- 21:12Speaker 2: while we're talking about that. Yeah, this woman here who's
- 21:17Speaker 2: on screen. She she is Dax, Yes, okay, which means
- 21:25Speaker 2: she is a member of the House of Martalk. The
- 21:30Speaker 2: Klingons were facing extinction last episode, and we have a
- 21:34Speaker 2: member of the House of Martalk stationed right here where
- 21:39Speaker 2: this show takes place. Yes, And she's not involved in
- 21:44Speaker 2: that at all.
- 21:47Speaker 5: Doesn't have anything to say to help out.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Nothing, nothing, nothing. Yeah, you know, even if we just
- 21:57Speaker 2: learned the fate of the House of Martin, is the
- 22:00Speaker 2: House of Martalk one of these eight houses that's still left?
- 22:04Speaker 2: Did the house? Is she the last? Is she the
- 22:07Speaker 2: last of the House of Mark?
- 22:09Speaker 6: Talk?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Now, I know she doesn't get revealed until the end
- 22:13Speaker 2: of this episode, but you know, maybe these two episodes
- 22:17Speaker 2: should have been flip flopped. Yeah, yeah, yeah, when you
- 22:26Speaker 2: I wish she had been walking around earlier in the series.
- 22:28Speaker 4: I wish they'd you know, I wish she had been
- 22:32Speaker 4: part of the series earlier.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I wonder if she if she even shows up the
- 22:35Speaker 5: rest of the series, they're just gonna drop Dax say
- 22:39Speaker 5: she's there, and probably.
- 22:42Speaker 4: This episode, right, Tonnie Newsome.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Right, But.
- 22:49Speaker 5: My my big problem with it that I just I
- 22:52Speaker 5: couldn't get past for me was okay, So Sam is
- 22:56Speaker 5: the whole premise is Sam is a holographic uh synthetic
- 23:01Speaker 5: life form, and she is supposed to be some sort
- 23:04Speaker 5: of emissary or ambassador for her people. She's supposed to
- 23:09Speaker 5: learn about the organics and report back to her people
- 23:12Speaker 5: and tell them whether or not it's safe to to
- 23:15Speaker 5: be reintegrity with them.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:18Speaker 5: But you have the doctor, who himself is a holographic
- 23:23Speaker 5: being who has lived among them for hundreds of years one, okay.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Who who who has made contact with other photonic beings
- 23:31Speaker 2: exactly right, and we're just going to ignore that he's
- 23:35Speaker 2: having you know, he's having dinner with the with the
- 23:37Speaker 2: captain while she makes an ass of of the other
- 23:40Speaker 2: chancellor for no, for no other reason other than comic relief. Right.
- 23:45Speaker 5: So I get you don't want to make those two
- 23:49Speaker 5: worlds collide, but you need to acknowledge that because it's
- 23:52Speaker 5: gonna drive people nuts. It did for me, Like I
- 23:54Speaker 5: couldn't even lock into this episode at all because I
- 23:58Speaker 5: kept thinking, well, just talk to the doctor. Even at
- 24:01Speaker 5: the very least It's like, look, I know you don't
- 24:02Speaker 5: want to talk to those people. But your photonic, what
- 24:05Speaker 5: do you suggest I do something something you know you couldn't.
- 24:11Speaker 2: There's a lot that doesn't make sense. She's there because
- 24:13Speaker 2: they don't trust She's there because they don't trust biologics, right, right,
- 24:19Speaker 2: that's what they call them, biologics. Yes, yet we witness
- 24:23Speaker 2: a biologic with the ability to just access her systems
- 24:28Speaker 2: that's the other one and change her program. Yes, how
- 24:32Speaker 2: is that even allowed?
- 24:35Speaker 5: The other thing is okay, so you're a society who
- 24:39Speaker 5: does not trust these people, so you send a kid
- 24:42Speaker 5: like you don't just send I don't know an adult
- 24:47Speaker 5: or have an actual ambassador like, I'm not part of
- 24:51Speaker 5: you guys at all. We're just trying to get to
- 24:52Speaker 5: tell you people.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yes, you know it makes no sense, and you know
- 24:56Speaker 2: what and again, all right, so this is what I'm
- 24:59Speaker 2: talking about. This is what I'm talking about. Had they
- 25:04Speaker 2: sat down and talked about these things and had a
- 25:08Speaker 2: table read, there is a way to make this make
- 25:11Speaker 2: perfect sense. Right.
- 25:13Speaker 5: That's she.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Is the child of the ambassador. Yes, and while he
- 25:19Speaker 2: is on Earth doing his ambassador stuff, she is attending
- 25:24Speaker 2: Starfleet Academy and she's not reporting back to them. She's
- 25:29Speaker 2: reporting back to him, and he is reporting back to them.
- 25:33Speaker 2: He's reporting the stuff that he encounters as an ambassador
- 25:38Speaker 2: when everyone is on their best behavior, trying to put
- 25:41Speaker 2: their best face forward and sell everything to him. And
- 25:45Speaker 2: he's coming back to her saying, you know what happened
- 25:47Speaker 2: with my friends today, Dad, My friends did this and
- 25:50Speaker 2: my friends did that, and because of that, I learned this,
- 25:52Speaker 2: that and the other thing. So he's taking what they're
- 25:56Speaker 2: showing him and what she's bringing to him, and that's
- 26:00Speaker 2: what he's reporting back. This is what the biologics want
- 26:03Speaker 2: us to know. This is what we found out. That
- 26:07Speaker 2: would make so much more sense, it would be so
- 26:09Speaker 2: much more interesting. Instead we you know, we get this.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Yeah. The other thing too, is okay. So at one
- 26:18Speaker 5: point they show her point of view and she's reading
- 26:21Speaker 5: everybody like the terminator, like she can you know, scan
- 26:24Speaker 5: them and all that. Okay, why doesn't the doctor have
- 26:27Speaker 5: that ability. It's been a thousand years. There wasn't an
- 26:30Speaker 5: upgrade he could do to make him a better doctor
- 26:33Speaker 5: and not need you know, a medical transer tricorder and
- 26:37Speaker 5: you know, like yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just but it was cool seeing Jake. I
- 26:46Speaker 5: was happy to see Jake.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Jake.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I was happy to see Jake. But at the same time,
- 26:53Speaker 2: you know this wasn't Jake, right, this was well, we
- 26:57Speaker 2: don't even know what it was. Jake wrote a leatherbound
- 27:01Speaker 2: book and she reads it, and now she has this
- 27:03Speaker 2: moment where she's talking to him but we don't but
- 27:08Speaker 2: we don't know Jake.
- 27:09Speaker 3: There was a There was the holographic representation of Jake
- 27:14Speaker 3: from the museum, which was a which was the museum
- 27:18Speaker 3: itself was a holographic representation because I was.
- 27:22Speaker 2: But later, but later she's interacting with him and.
- 27:27Speaker 5: I asure you, if kail me are wanted to mess
- 27:31Speaker 5: with my internals, I would also say yes.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Yeah, he's he's easy on the eyes.
- 27:41Speaker 2: So she says to him, hey, sis, which says to me,
- 27:46Speaker 2: he's also a hologram, right, okay, And she asks him
- 27:51Speaker 2: are you real, which means she doesn't know if he's
- 27:53Speaker 2: a hologram or not or or and he says do
- 27:57Speaker 2: you want me to be? And then later she says,
- 28:00Speaker 2: will you disappear when I closed this book? And he says,
- 28:02Speaker 2: I thought you were controlling all of this, So this
- 28:05Speaker 2: is all happening in her mind from yeah, I was
- 28:08Speaker 2: confused by this from yeah it is. It is confusing.
- 28:11Speaker 2: But my point is, you know, this wasn't real Jake.
- 28:14Speaker 2: This was hollow Jake or imaginary Jake. But at the
- 28:17Speaker 2: same time, if this series was set in the twenty
- 28:19Speaker 2: fifth century instead of the thirty second century, could have
- 28:22Speaker 2: been real Jake. We could have had real Jake, we
- 28:26Speaker 2: could have had real Dacks. But we didn't get that
- 28:31Speaker 2: right at this.
- 28:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's God, there's so many like it's so
- 28:40Speaker 5: close to like it could be good.
- 28:42Speaker 2: But then but yes, but then there's things that are
- 28:45Speaker 2: just one thousand percent stupid. Yeah, like this guy, this
- 28:48Speaker 2: guy puke and glitter, what the hell is that?
- 28:51Speaker 4: I don't like that either? Uh, the bombic glitter that
- 28:53Speaker 4: that that was weird.
- 28:55Speaker 5: That he's like, this would be wacky, to be wacky?
- 28:58Speaker 2: And did they did they? Did? They just admit that
- 29:02Speaker 2: the entire but youring belief system is nonsense. Yeah, okay,
- 29:08Speaker 2: And and you might think you know what I'm talking about,
- 29:13Speaker 2: But there's two reasons I'm saying that she walks in
- 29:16Speaker 2: and basically ships all over there.
- 29:17Speaker 5: There right in a church version of.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah okay, But also the guy who greets her, he
- 29:27Speaker 2: puts his hand on her ear or a holographic representation
- 29:30Speaker 2: of her ear, and then proceeds to tell her her
- 29:33Speaker 2: paw is strong. What exactly are you sensing? Yeah, she's
- 29:37Speaker 2: not real? So does that mean that that was never real?
- 29:43Speaker 2: That's just that's just a greeting. I'm gonna grab you
- 29:45Speaker 2: by the ear and tell you it's gotta be because
- 29:49Speaker 2: at this point it's it's nothing. They're sensing nothing.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I did like what she she grabbed his ear back.
- 29:59Speaker 4: It's like, no, no, no, that's that's not how it works.
- 30:03Speaker 5: You know. It also hit me this episode is because
- 30:06Speaker 5: they do the whole subplot about well they won't they
- 30:08Speaker 5: with with Mirror and the Beta's head girl, right and
- 30:11Speaker 5: they're naking out at the bar and all that. But
- 30:15Speaker 5: you know, Mirror is supposed to be like obsessed with
- 30:18Speaker 5: finding his mom, and it's been five episodes now apparently
- 30:21Speaker 5: we don't care, like you don't. He never mentions it, really,
- 30:25Speaker 5: he's never like trying to do anything that's gonna be
- 30:28Speaker 5: the cliffhanger.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna get a he's gonna get an ICQ
- 30:32Speaker 2: message from his mom.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Yeah for sure. But like his girlfriend there, her dad
- 30:38Speaker 5: runs Beta's head, right, Yeah, you don't want to ask
- 30:41Speaker 5: your girlfriend like, hey, does your dad maybe have any
- 30:44Speaker 5: hints on my mind? At least you know, Like I I,
- 30:50Speaker 5: it's you can't just leave these things hanging and not
- 30:54Speaker 5: let the audience have those answers. That's not how It's
- 30:58Speaker 5: not true to the characters. Yeah, but so I imagine
- 31:05Speaker 5: the next episode will be a Genesis episode and we
- 31:07Speaker 5: hear what her backstory or.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Her backstory is. She does what nintend don't that's right.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Her in Miles that the little two tailed a rabbit thing.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Are you gonna just go up and adventure?
- 31:23Speaker 4: All right?
- 31:25Speaker 2: Say one? Say one nice thing, one nice thing.
- 31:30Speaker 5: I like this. I like the voiceover at the end.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Yep, that was the that was taken from a jazz
- 31:37Speaker 2: album that he did. Yeah, got Scott, one thing nice.
- 31:45Speaker 3: I liked the episode. I was I nostalgia cry during
- 31:49Speaker 3: most of it. I I I liked it. There's a
- 31:55Speaker 3: few things that I didn't like. I didn't like the
- 31:58Speaker 3: vomit glitter. I thought I thought twelve shots was a
- 32:03Speaker 3: little too much. Yeah, but uh, I kind of envied
- 32:10Speaker 3: the fact that she could go from twelve shots to
- 32:13Speaker 3: zero shots.
- 32:15Speaker 5: I mean, you could have done something funny with like
- 32:17Speaker 5: she does eleven and he goes this thing goes to
- 32:18Speaker 5: eleven and you know, yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Yeah, some of the items on display. Okay, So I
- 32:25Speaker 3: got confused with the ORB. I'm like, wait a minute,
- 32:29Speaker 3: how is this there's an ORB there? And then I realized, oh,
- 32:32Speaker 3: it's a museum. It's actually a holographic museum. R Then
- 32:36Speaker 3: I got confused, why is there a typewriter there? That
- 32:39Speaker 3: was Benny Cisco's typewriter. That typewriter should not exist.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Doesn't exist, right, Yeah, but it's real.
- 32:48Speaker 2: It's real.
- 32:50Speaker 4: It's real that typewriter should not exist. And but a
- 32:56Speaker 4: few other things in there. Oh the I like the
- 32:58Speaker 4: uh you notice the hat that I'm wearing?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Is there was that?
- 33:03Speaker 4: That hat was in there?
- 33:06Speaker 3: But yeah, his typewriter and glasses from Far Beyond the Stars.
- 33:11Speaker 3: I'm looking up a couple other things, baseball glove and
- 33:15Speaker 3: uh the Willie Mays baseball.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Card it smells like bubble gum.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Yeah from uh the one that Jake got him in
- 33:25Speaker 3: the in the cards and then the one of the orbs.
- 33:30Speaker 4: So yeah, I liked the episode. I it was so
- 33:33Speaker 4: for me. It was my favorite episode of the series
- 33:35Speaker 4: so far.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Okay, okay, So awaiting Game says I don't recall as
- 33:40Speaker 5: well as I wish, But doesn't the ending of d
- 33:42Speaker 5: S nine verify that the prophets are real Sansisca joins
- 33:45Speaker 5: the prophets.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well, I mean it was never it was
- 33:49Speaker 2: never in dispute whether they're real. Yes, it's whether they're
- 33:52Speaker 2: gods or are they aliens? Worm whole aliens? You know,
- 33:58Speaker 2: is Cua god or see an alien? It's, you know,
- 34:03Speaker 2: the same same thing.
- 34:06Speaker 5: I will say this since the beginning, I've had a
- 34:09Speaker 5: hard time with the Sam character. I just those overly
- 34:13Speaker 5: enthusiastic Pollyanna, you know, super cheerful characters. I've never connected
- 34:19Speaker 5: with those types. It's one of the reasons why I
- 34:21Speaker 5: don't like anime. It's a very anime character. So I
- 34:25Speaker 5: get why they put it in this show because they're
- 34:27Speaker 5: targeting youth, and for sure they read the demographics and
- 34:30Speaker 5: they're like, oh, the teens love their anime, let's do that,
- 34:33Speaker 5: you know. Yeah, So I get why she's there, but
- 34:37Speaker 5: it's just I just do not connect with those kinds
- 34:40Speaker 5: of characters.
- 34:42Speaker 2: So I did like the use of the theremon. Yes, yeah,
- 34:47Speaker 2: even though everybody thinks the TOS theme song was originally
- 34:52Speaker 2: performed on a theremon, and it was not. It is.
- 34:55Speaker 2: It is often covered using a theremon, but it was not.
- 35:01Speaker 2: It was not made with a theremon. But you listen
- 35:03Speaker 2: to a theremon and man, the TS theme is made
- 35:05Speaker 2: for this instrument.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, that's funny. But I bring up that I
- 35:11Speaker 5: don't like the cheerful character, and Blah was like I
- 35:13Speaker 5: love Sam and uh a tree. He was like, two
- 35:16Speaker 5: darn cheerful. So I mean that's what It's a divisive character.
- 35:19Speaker 5: That's fine, you know people. Yeah, but yeah, it was
- 35:25Speaker 5: cool to see after the fact that sarrock Laften started
- 35:28Speaker 5: posting all these behind the scenes pictures of him being
- 35:31Speaker 5: there and he looks really happy to be there. That's cool.
- 35:35Speaker 5: I'm sure on his podcast we'll be talking about it,
- 35:37Speaker 5: you know.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, So I spotted Jaden wearing a skirt. Yes, and
- 35:45Speaker 2: then I went on, what is it, Gronk, is that
- 35:49Speaker 2: the AI generator?
- 35:51Speaker 5: That's one of it? Yeah?
- 35:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and I and I took I took one of
- 35:57Speaker 2: Wharf's nine inch action figures and asked Gronk to put
- 36:02Speaker 2: him in a skirt, just just for fun. Yeah, and
- 36:06Speaker 2: it was fun. And then I'm like, all right, put
- 36:08Speaker 2: him in a party dress. All right, put him in this,
- 36:11Speaker 2: put him in there. And I just started selectical because
- 36:13Speaker 2: it was amazed at how how quickly and easily, you know,
- 36:17Speaker 2: it would put him in different outfits. And you know,
- 36:20Speaker 2: I'm chuckling to myself because I'm I'm imagining Wharf as
- 36:23Speaker 2: like the next generation Barbie Doll. So there's a police war.
- 36:27Speaker 5: Wait, you made your own makeover machine.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I did. I did, so I'm gonna post. I'm gonna
- 36:32Speaker 2: post the pictures to the Facebook. But there's Wharf, Wharf
- 36:38Speaker 2: in a bikini. There's there's Wharf in a field hockey uniforms,
- 36:43Speaker 2: Wharf as a doctor, Wharf is a postal worker.
- 36:46Speaker 5: So girl scout.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Maybe I didn't do a girl scout. You know, I might.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I might go back and make a few more.
- 36:54Speaker 3: That reminds me of that d Phase nine episode where
- 36:57Speaker 3: they all go to Riza and Wharf is standing there
- 37:00Speaker 3: holding the swim suit that jod Ziya gives him.
- 37:03Speaker 2: I do have more in a bikini.
- 37:05Speaker 4: We never got to see him actually wearing that. We
- 37:10Speaker 4: need to see a picture of him actually wearing that speedo.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Make it happen. I'm on it. We don't.
- 37:20Speaker 5: Let's let's ask the chat if they want Warf in
- 37:22Speaker 5: the speedo.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Yeah za, yeah, I mean standing next to John Zia
- 37:29Speaker 3: in her in her one piece.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Everybody gets what they want, all right.
- 37:32Speaker 2: All right? I got wharf Wharf in a burka. Wharf
- 37:37Speaker 2: is a Catholic bishop. Oh god, oh no, it was
- 37:43Speaker 2: an equal opportunity.
- 37:44Speaker 4: Yeah, opportunity.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Why not suit?
- 37:47Speaker 2: You know what I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go back
- 37:49Speaker 2: and before I post it, I'm gonna go back and
- 37:51Speaker 2: I'm gonna make a few more.
- 37:52Speaker 5: Yeah, Batman wharf.
- 37:55Speaker 2: I already have a green lantern and a wonder woman. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:01Speaker 2: super war I have him as a chef.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Oh, I can't wait.
- 38:07Speaker 2: And you know what, here's and here's the thing. Okay,
- 38:09Speaker 2: so AI is scary? Yeah, the one where I said
- 38:13Speaker 2: put him in a in a soccer uniform. You know
- 38:16Speaker 2: what numbers on his chest? Forty seven? Forty seven?
- 38:21Speaker 4: Really?
- 38:22Speaker 2: Yep?
- 38:23Speaker 4: Really wow? I didn't tell to do that.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Yep. It knows.
- 38:31Speaker 5: Warping a Trek cash shirt.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Doing it? Yeah?
- 38:35Speaker 5: Oh God, to tray you with the deep cut post
- 38:39Speaker 5: Warf in the speedo. But to tray you said, sure,
- 38:42Speaker 5: speedo warf will make the calendar. Check that down there.
- 38:46Speaker 5: God damn, we have not talked about that in forever.
- 38:50Speaker 2: No, it's been a while.
- 38:52Speaker 5: Yeah, but maybe next year. This is a trek gass calendar.
- 38:56Speaker 5: Oh man, this poor guy, that the college guy. Uh yep, yeah,
- 39:03Speaker 5: he's just there to be shipped on.
- 39:05Speaker 3: You're growing on me. I'm starting to like him. Okay,
- 39:08Speaker 3: I'm starting to like him.
- 39:10Speaker 5: I still don't get the purpose of the war College.
- 39:13Speaker 5: If they're all in the same facility, what's the difference? Yeah, yeah,
- 39:18Speaker 5: what are we doing?
- 39:22Speaker 2: Yeah, aqua wharf.
- 39:26Speaker 5: We're just gonna get a list of warfs. So, uh, dan,
- 39:32Speaker 5: what's your nice thing about the episode the Theremon, the
- 39:35Speaker 5: Theremond Okay, yeah.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Yep, all right, yeah, but like the Theremid.
- 39:40Speaker 5: All right, well, it feels like, oh god.
- 39:43Speaker 4: He warf, he warf. So that that reminds me. I
- 39:50Speaker 4: do want to do a show this summer.
- 39:52Speaker 3: I want to cover Masters of the Universe from nineteen
- 39:56Speaker 3: eighty seven.
- 39:57Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 3: The reason why I want to cover Masters of the
- 39:59Speaker 3: Universe from nineteen eighty seven, don't do it is because
- 40:02Speaker 3: don't don't do it, because my buddy Robbie Duncan McNeil.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Robbie's in it.
- 40:10Speaker 4: Okay, boy, yeah, my boy was blown up.
- 40:13Speaker 3: So we're gonna have to cover that for an episode
- 40:15Speaker 3: of Trek Cast, all.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Right, and then and then throw it down.
- 40:20Speaker 4: And then we can then we can go and watch
- 40:22Speaker 4: the new movie.
- 40:23Speaker 5: I mean we could do it before the movie. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 5: that that's possible.
- 40:28Speaker 2: We should do it like right before the new movie.
- 40:31Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, that's when you do it.
- 40:33Speaker 2: So watch the movie is like a palette, so the
- 40:35Speaker 2: old so the old one is fresh in your mind
- 40:37Speaker 2: when you watch the new one.
- 40:38Speaker 5: Yeah, and how much better it's going to be. It
- 40:39Speaker 5: looks like yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm so excited for.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I'm so excited for it too. And you know, similar
- 40:50Speaker 2: to this fandom. I mean, there are people that that
- 40:53Speaker 2: hate it, the new one. They hate it already, Yeah
- 40:57Speaker 2: they have, they haven't even at least I've seen this
- 40:59Speaker 2: and I hate it.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Fair. At least you experienced it and you were like, yeah.
- 41:05Speaker 4: No, good, at least they got the sword right.
- 41:09Speaker 3: They got the sword right, so yeah, after that they
- 41:12Speaker 3: can I mean, get the sword right.
- 41:16Speaker 4: You could take creative license with just about anything else.
- 41:18Speaker 5: Dan, did you see that they're starting to sell the sword,
- 41:21Speaker 5: like big foam versions of the sword.
- 41:23Speaker 2: That is actually from a few years ago. I think
- 41:25Speaker 2: they're doing a new run on it. It was a
- 41:28Speaker 2: few years back, about ten years ago. You can find
- 41:30Speaker 2: that at the Halloween store.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Oh nice. Yeah, I'm gonna have to get it. I
- 41:34Speaker 5: need the sword. So all right, Well should we get
- 41:39Speaker 5: to listener feedback? Sure, listener feedback?
- 41:50Speaker 4: All right, jas Bis says he's on a trip. He'll
- 41:55Speaker 4: see us next week.
- 41:56Speaker 5: That's right. Well, if anyone wants to join us on
- 42:00Speaker 5: the show, you can x up in the chat. Just
- 42:02Speaker 5: put a letter X and you can join us. We
- 42:05Speaker 5: do have some voicemails, but before we get to them,
- 42:08Speaker 5: I just want to say you can leave us a
- 42:10Speaker 5: voicemail at five seven zero six six one zero zero
- 42:14Speaker 5: zero one. That's five seven zero six six one zero
- 42:18Speaker 5: zero zero one. And yeah, we got a lot, so
- 42:23Speaker 5: let's let's start with those.
- 42:26Speaker 6: Want to track cast. Yeah, I got a theory. And
- 42:29Speaker 6: why Academy is kind of a low budget. Well I
- 42:35Speaker 6: won't say you say a little budget by why the
- 42:36Speaker 6: writing is subpart? Okay, Like you said from the burn
- 42:40Speaker 6: that these kids are being isolated, so that's why this
- 42:45Speaker 6: new class isn't the best of the best, so they're
- 42:47Speaker 6: acclimated to the burn. Very similar to when we went
- 42:52Speaker 6: through the pandemic, people sort of stayed inside and didn't
- 42:57Speaker 6: couldn't get out much and educational. So that's why I'm
- 43:00Speaker 6: thinking that's what happened to the writers for Starfleet Academy
- 43:05Speaker 6: and why everything's like twenty twenty six. Also, as a note,
- 43:08Speaker 6: back in the sixties, the the producers were like star
- 43:12Speaker 6: treks to Cerebral for from of the Autist, and so
- 43:15Speaker 6: they had to double down a little bit. It took
- 43:17Speaker 6: sixty years, but they got it. So unfortunately, we don't
- 43:24Speaker 6: have the.
- 43:30Speaker 4: The what.
- 43:33Speaker 5: Oh I got off there. Oh that's why.
- 43:36Speaker 2: All right, let's do let's do mad lips. We don't
- 43:39Speaker 2: have the what go yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why we don't have the burn, the the
- 43:46Speaker 5: Liveyon crystals.
- 43:47Speaker 3: I don't I don't know, man, all right, we'll got
- 43:49Speaker 3: go sexual desire.
- 43:51Speaker 5: Sexual desire. Oh, it's always strong.
- 43:54Speaker 2: I'm gonna do a first contact and say we don't
- 43:56Speaker 2: have the time to argue about time.
- 44:01Speaker 5: Nice nice, yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 2: But either way, thanks thanks for the call, thanks for
- 44:06Speaker 2: the message.
- 44:07Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, all right, we got another one. Let's play
- 44:10Speaker 5: this one. Here we go.
- 44:14Speaker 8: Hey, what's up?
- 44:15Speaker 9: Check cast? This is Nick from California. I just wanted
- 44:19Speaker 9: to mention the mccardo Monto one. He actually was in
- 44:21Speaker 9: the convention in two thousand and nine. Why gott you
- 44:24Speaker 9: give one thousand and one in Pasadena. It was a
- 44:27Speaker 9: Grand Slam nine convention. My sister took me to it.
- 44:31Speaker 9: Uh and uh he went up on stage, was on
- 44:34Speaker 9: stage with him.
- 44:34Speaker 6: He's in a wheelchair.
- 44:35Speaker 9: They're making jokes.
- 44:36Speaker 6: He was like.
- 44:37Speaker 9: A anyway, he was a great podcast and uh talk
- 44:41Speaker 9: you guys too, all right.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Nice, nice, all right, So I stand appreciate it.
- 44:46Speaker 2: H I stand corrected. Riccardo mont Ubon did a few,
- 44:49Speaker 2: Uh did a few conventions. It's good to know. It's
- 44:51Speaker 2: good to know that that, you know, some of the
- 44:53Speaker 2: fans got to actually see him in that in that way.
- 44:58Speaker 5: So yeah, it's very cool. And then our last one
- 45:01Speaker 5: comes to us from Tim. So you're a girls.
- 45:05Speaker 8: Uh the fifth episode of this atrocious Abomination.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Star Trek show.
- 45:13Speaker 8: I'll read through my notes. So the first thing I
- 45:17Speaker 8: wrote down is this this Sam thinks she's another Emirus emissary.
- 45:23Speaker 8: And all the way through the show, I was like,
- 45:26Speaker 8: get those words out of your filthy mouth? How dare
- 45:30Speaker 8: you compare yourself to the Cisco? And another thing that
- 45:36Speaker 8: really annoyed me and I couldn't stop thinking about it
- 45:38Speaker 8: throughout the show was this I can't remember his name,
- 45:41Speaker 8: but he was talking about heating the ocean because of
- 45:43Speaker 8: these eels, heating all the water in the Yeah, what
- 45:46Speaker 8: could possibly go wrong?
- 45:47Speaker 4: I mean, do they not?
- 45:49Speaker 2: Are they so dumb that they.
- 45:51Speaker 8: Don't think about heating the ocean and the damage you
- 45:53Speaker 8: could do to all the other wildlife there. It's painful.
- 45:57Speaker 8: It's really painful. This show, the whole fish ritual thing
- 46:01Speaker 8: where they were dancing and singing. I could I could
- 46:04Speaker 8: almost not watch it. It was unwatchable. Every week I watch this,
- 46:10Speaker 8: I think of future Star Trek cons. Will anybody ever
- 46:14Speaker 8: go to a Star Trek con dressed as any of
- 46:16Speaker 8: these characters? I don't like any of them. I can't
- 46:20Speaker 8: stand them. This show gets worse as the weeks go on.
- 46:23Speaker 8: Why didn't what's her name have a hangover? When she
- 46:26Speaker 8: had all of those drinks? See, that would have been
- 46:27Speaker 8: funny if they've given her a hangover. It's all very well,
- 46:30Speaker 8: having all the drinks and everything, but give her a
- 46:31Speaker 8: hangover as well. As I say, I don't like any
- 46:35Speaker 8: of them. This show is awful. I'm watching it for
- 46:37Speaker 8: comedy value now and it just gets worse and worse,
- 46:42Speaker 8: and there are no redeeming features about it now. I
- 46:45Speaker 8: don't even think it looks that great now with all
- 46:47Speaker 8: the lens flair and everything. The best thing about this
- 46:51Speaker 8: show is that I get to send in a recording
- 46:53Speaker 8: every week and listen to you boys and that note
- 46:55Speaker 8: I shall leave you, have a great day, love you lots, bye.
- 47:00Speaker 5: So there you go.
- 47:02Speaker 2: So yeah, So tell me if you picked up on this.
- 47:09Speaker 2: When she says that the Cisco is so revered, they
- 47:15Speaker 2: don't even have pictures of him. Yeah, anymore, they don't
- 47:19Speaker 2: show pictures of him. Did that, say Mohammed?
- 47:24Speaker 5: So yeah, I thought that too, Like that's definitely where
- 47:26Speaker 5: they got that inspiration, for sure. I think the other
- 47:30Speaker 5: inspiration was like, we don't want to pay for his likeness,
- 47:32Speaker 5: but then they put him in the clouds, you know,
- 47:35Speaker 5: I don't I don't know. I don't know what they're
- 47:36Speaker 5: doing there. But we also have a couple of people
- 47:40Speaker 5: on the line, so let's uh, let's get your arch
- 47:42Speaker 5: nemesis Scott, he's back weaker beard and so yeah, yeah
- 47:54Speaker 5: I like it.
- 47:54Speaker 4: Welcome back.
- 47:55Speaker 7: Yeah, nice to get for a week.
- 47:59Speaker 2: The weak beard than a strong beard collide? How much
- 48:02Speaker 2: energy is released? And can you can you power a
- 48:05Speaker 2: starship with it?
- 48:07Speaker 4: Is it like?
- 48:08Speaker 2: Is it like a mat yeah? To control the Yeah?
- 48:12Speaker 10: Yeah, you need a you need a beard field. It
- 48:20Speaker 10: contains like I.
- 48:22Speaker 5: Feel like a beard field is like a wing stop.
- 48:25Speaker 5: There's a lot of beard.
- 48:26Speaker 4: I think, like, yeah, special.
- 48:32Speaker 2: I'm just picturing somebody tapping tapping the consoles the beard.
- 48:35Speaker 2: The beardfield is collapsing.
- 48:41Speaker 5: You bember, what you think?
- 48:42Speaker 4: Did you like it?
- 48:43Speaker 5: Did you not? I?
- 48:46Speaker 10: I enjoyed Miss Marvel okay, And that's how this felt. Yeah,
- 48:52Speaker 10: it's like just a stylization and everything. But it was
- 48:55Speaker 10: actually the first episode that I actually realized there was
- 48:58Speaker 10: an A plot, B plot and you and I think
- 49:00Speaker 10: a C plot, which was It felt like a real
- 49:03Speaker 10: episode for once, not like a more serialized It feels
- 49:06Speaker 10: like this one could just PLoP it in anywhere. To
- 49:09Speaker 10: Dan's point about they should have probably had this one
- 49:11Speaker 10: after the Klingon episode, but up until I found out
- 49:15Speaker 10: about the comics, I thought that they didn't. This is
- 49:19Speaker 10: the first episode where they didn't care or destroy or
- 49:21Speaker 10: reboot or undo something from Old Trek. They left Cisco
- 49:28Speaker 10: like like the Mystery of Where He Went and didn't
- 49:32Speaker 10: try to change it and red con it. I know
- 49:35Speaker 10: the comics did a lot, but yeah, it felt like
- 49:38Speaker 10: they actually kind of tried to honor it rather than
- 49:43Speaker 10: try to make it their own or destroy it or something.
- 49:45Speaker 10: And that's the one thing I liked about.
- 49:47Speaker 2: And it was.
- 49:48Speaker 10: Funny because I totally didn't pick up that Tawny Newsome.
- 49:52Speaker 10: Well I knew it was Tony Newsome, but I ain't
- 49:54Speaker 10: pick up the character that she was a Cardassian or
- 49:57Speaker 10: a Cardassian hybrid until the very end when she revealed
- 50:01Speaker 10: the trill spots and then I turned and she turned around.
- 50:05Speaker 10: Oh oh oh, so that was kind of a cool review.
- 50:09Speaker 10: But yeah, I totally didn't pick up on that the
- 50:11Speaker 10: whole time because all that was distracted was Hey, that's Tony.
- 50:13Speaker 7: Newsome alien Alien of the Week makeup.
- 50:17Speaker 10: So I don't know, maybe it was the way her
- 50:18Speaker 10: hair was kind of covering the forehead ridge a little
- 50:21Speaker 10: bit so you couldn't really tell, and then the color
- 50:24Speaker 10: was off, so hmm, yeah, but yeah, I think it was.
- 50:28Speaker 4: A little too big. But other than that, yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Was that racist to say to say spoon Ridge, It
- 50:37Speaker 3: wasn't even noticeable to me because.
- 50:40Speaker 10: Yeah, I think for me, it's like when I see Cardassis,
- 50:42Speaker 10: because she had everything covered up.
- 50:45Speaker 7: What do you call those like the neck?
- 50:48Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, that was always a big giveaway because they
- 50:52Speaker 10: never could fit in like a normal uniform because they
- 50:54Speaker 10: would always stick out so much.
- 50:56Speaker 2: So, but I wonder if she could do the Cardassian,
- 51:01Speaker 2: which is what we've never seen it.
- 51:03Speaker 10: I know, Yeah, oh gosh, don't don't. They're gonna put
- 51:07Speaker 10: it in season two for just to kill it. Yeah,
- 51:11Speaker 10: that we probably should have seen. There was one issue
- 51:14Speaker 10: I had though, is with and this is the whole
- 51:17Speaker 10: photonic thing, is when Sam's talking to her, I don't
- 51:21Speaker 10: know whatever you call overlords or whatever.
- 51:23Speaker 7: Why why was it like, yeah.
- 51:27Speaker 10: Yeah, the KALs, That's exactly what I was thinking of,
- 51:29Speaker 10: Like they stole this story from the Ple, But why
- 51:33Speaker 10: was it like this non corporeal light source, they're photonics.
- 51:38Speaker 10: I would rather have seen her what's the okay something
- 51:42Speaker 10: what her species looked like or was programmed to look
- 51:44Speaker 10: like by their creators.
- 51:46Speaker 7: That would have been more realistic.
- 51:47Speaker 10: But they're making it seem like she's a non corporeal
- 51:51Speaker 10: being like a organian or something as opposed to a photonic.
- 51:56Speaker 2: And that's the part of because because when her bosses
- 52:00Speaker 2: are in the Great Link, that's how they exist. They
- 52:03Speaker 2: exist as one big, non non.
- 52:07Speaker 7: Sh shape ones in Zero's or.
- 52:11Speaker 5: You watched uh, you watch Prodigy, right, yeah, when there
- 52:16Speaker 5: one of the yeah Zero, she.
- 52:18Speaker 7: Was contained in the still Yeah.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Yeah, wasn't that what she looked like when when she
- 52:22Speaker 5: was out of it?
- 52:24Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly.
- 52:24Speaker 10: And that's what threw me off because I'm like, are
- 52:27Speaker 10: they saying that these photonics are actually non corporeal all
- 52:31Speaker 10: of a sudden now they invaulved or are they actually still?
- 52:35Speaker 10: And I don't know if that's why they can say
- 52:37Speaker 10: that she can do things that the doctor can. Yeah,
- 52:43Speaker 10: it's throwing me off a bit, and it feels like
- 52:47Speaker 10: they haven't fully defined what she really is as a
- 52:50Speaker 10: photonic or what a photonic really is, especially when you
- 52:53Speaker 10: hit the doctor like right there, yeah, and he's still
- 52:56Speaker 10: dealing with trauma.
- 52:57Speaker 7: Too, It's oh, yeah, for sure they hold on that
- 53:00Speaker 7: thread more.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the one question. Are we going to get
- 53:04Speaker 2: a Doctor episode where we're actually going to see some
- 53:06Speaker 2: of this.
- 53:06Speaker 5: I think we are.
- 53:08Speaker 2: I hope so, because Yeah, that's probably one of the
- 53:12Speaker 2: few threads they have going right now that I'm actually
- 53:16Speaker 2: curious about and actually interested in seeing.
- 53:20Speaker 5: He's going to have a drink with that one kid
- 53:21Speaker 5: and they're going to talk about their lives and then
- 53:23Speaker 5: that kid's gonna throw up glitter.
- 53:25Speaker 4: Oh God, that was so stupid.
- 53:28Speaker 7: Yeah n at that point.
- 53:32Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, I hope they don't with that episode though.
- 53:36Speaker 10: I hope they don't just solve it there, because that
- 53:39Speaker 10: would just be too soon, too quick, Like thousands of
- 53:41Speaker 10: years of trauma and this one kid solves it in
- 53:44Speaker 10: one episode, Like that's that should be a lingering thing
- 53:48Speaker 10: that they pulled through the whole series. I don't know,
- 53:52Speaker 10: two years we'll see.
- 53:54Speaker 2: So I'm wondering if the reason he likes the Chancellor
- 54:02Speaker 2: it is because she's a Lantheonite and he's While he
- 54:06Speaker 2: will probably outlive her, also it won't be it'll take
- 54:12Speaker 2: a lot longer, Like maybe he's attaching himself to longer
- 54:16Speaker 2: lived beings because he's experienced so much loss over the years.
- 54:21Speaker 2: He's outlived so many of his of his friends.
- 54:25Speaker 4: But yeah, but if.
- 54:28Speaker 5: He's that hurt and that bitter. Why is he still
- 54:31Speaker 5: in Surfleet. Why isn't he off somewhere else away from
- 54:36Speaker 5: people because he doesn't want to deal.
- 54:37Speaker 2: With because the happiest moments of his life were when
- 54:42Speaker 2: he was in Starfleet. That's why. Yeah, because even though
- 54:47Speaker 2: even though the people are no longer constant, the mission
- 54:50Speaker 2: is always the same.
- 54:53Speaker 10: I wonder if they're going to pull that deep cut
- 54:55Speaker 10: of that episode in Voyager where he he was trying
- 54:59Speaker 10: to deal survivor's guilt and they they deleted that part
- 55:02Speaker 10: of his code and through a spiral, and it feels
- 55:05Speaker 10: like that's kind of similar things where they just have
- 55:09Speaker 10: to leave him like running, just to kind of get
- 55:11Speaker 10: over and process it, and it feels like that's still
- 55:14Speaker 10: something where he still has to deal, which is I think,
- 55:18Speaker 10: you know, when we think about artificial life forms and
- 55:21Speaker 10: everything and trying to be more human and that's aspect.
- 55:24Speaker 10: I think they're succeeding in that kind of writing to
- 55:26Speaker 10: do that. But yeah, it's interesting to see if they
- 55:30Speaker 10: even know that episode kind of like how they don't
- 55:33Speaker 10: realize that that's as part of the House of bar talk.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like if they are going to do
- 55:39Speaker 3: a Doctor episode in academy, they are going to have
- 55:43Speaker 3: to go back to a specific episode of Voyager, to
- 55:48Speaker 3: a specific you know, type of plot point with the doctor,
- 55:56Speaker 3: and and go on that.
- 55:58Speaker 5: When they eventually do the Doctor episode, which boy Woyager
- 56:02Speaker 5: cast members coming back to the cameo.
- 56:03Speaker 2: You know, I was just thinking to myself when they
- 56:06Speaker 2: do this, they could do a series of flashbacks and
- 56:15Speaker 2: you know all of them.
- 56:17Speaker 10: Yeah, that's gonna be the Yeah, but they can only
- 56:23Speaker 10: do it one of two ways.
- 56:24Speaker 3: It can only be flashbacks from previously done footage from
- 56:28Speaker 3: Voyager or from the twenty fifth century.
- 56:31Speaker 2: That's That's what I'm talking about. Okay, So I'm not
- 56:33Speaker 2: interested in I'm not interested in the clips episode.
- 56:37Speaker 4: I know, it's like.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Remember that time one of the episodes and then they
- 56:44Speaker 2: just show.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Now twenty Yeah, hey, I would not be mad at
- 56:49Speaker 3: an episode where thirty or seventy percent of it takes
- 56:53Speaker 3: place in the twenty fifth century.
- 56:55Speaker 5: That'd be great. You still got those card sets.
- 56:59Speaker 4: You know. Even how would they do it? Though?
- 57:01Speaker 3: If the doctors could interact with they would have to
- 57:05Speaker 3: be heavily cg with the doctor because he didn't you know,
- 57:09Speaker 3: he didn't change his appearance until.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Well, we don't know when he changed disappearance.
- 57:15Speaker 5: They said, oh okay, yeah.
- 57:17Speaker 10: I would want to see just pre burn, like what
- 57:22Speaker 10: was the peak of Starfleet right before the burn happened.
- 57:25Speaker 10: That'll be interesting to see if anything, But that's gonna
- 57:28Speaker 10: take too much resources to be able to show that.
- 57:31Speaker 2: You know, you know, if they did a flashback to
- 57:35Speaker 2: the twenty fifth century and it still takes place at
- 57:39Speaker 2: Starfleet Academy, you know who the chancellor.
- 57:40Speaker 5: Is, right who?
- 57:44Speaker 2: It's Patrick Stewart.
- 57:46Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's that's my weekly reminder of what we
- 57:51Speaker 2: could have had at this show. Can you make a
- 57:55Speaker 2: bumper for next week what we could have had?
- 57:58Speaker 5: And then you know, that sounds like great.
- 58:03Speaker 10: Jean Picard's School for Gifted star Fleet Officers. Yes, yes,
- 58:11Speaker 10: he's wearing a green uniform for some reason.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Yeah. And his his chancellor is Jeane yeah yeah, and
- 58:19Speaker 2: his office is on is on deck ten, but it's
- 58:21Speaker 2: a Roman.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's always sitting in his chair yep.
- 58:28Speaker 5: In his chair it floats him everywhere. Yeah, there's a
- 58:33Speaker 5: there's a class that talks you about risk. It's called
- 58:35Speaker 5: the Gambit.
- 58:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they already already have the Danger Room we saw
- 58:44Speaker 2: two weeks ago.
- 58:45Speaker 5: Yes they do. Oh god, it's perfect, all right. We
- 58:49Speaker 5: also have Insterstock waiting. So yeah, thanks Bear, very good.
- 58:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to see tourists too.
- 58:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, the trees once Bana.
- 59:00Speaker 4: That's great, all right, Ax, who else do we want
- 59:03Speaker 4: to see? Uh? You know, we can see there's other
- 59:05Speaker 4: characters that we can see.
- 59:07Speaker 3: We can see uh, you know, ancestral characters we can see.
- 59:12Speaker 3: You know, Jake Cisco's great great great great grandchildren.
- 59:19Speaker 5: Oh we can make them up.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Kira's or anybody you know. Yeah, but Sheer O'Brien's.
- 59:25Speaker 3: I'd like to see an O'Brien.
- 59:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I want to see the O'Brien statue.
- 59:30Speaker 3: Though, I'd like to see the O'Brien statue. I'd like
- 59:34Speaker 3: to see you know who I'd like to see, And
- 59:36Speaker 3: I've said it on the show many times, I would
- 59:40Speaker 3: like them to finally find the cryo container that Charles Tucker.
- 59:44Speaker 4: The Third is in.
- 59:45Speaker 5: Oh yeah, there.
- 59:46Speaker 3: They finally unthought him because he had they the last
- 59:50Speaker 3: time we saw him, he was going into a into
- 59:52Speaker 3: a stasis container and they never showed him dying or
- 59:55Speaker 3: coming out. So I think he's still in a cryo
- 59:59Speaker 3: chamber and he's still among.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Us, you know, h Junior would be fun.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Sure, sure, yeah, yeah, I could do another Q episode.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: It's been a while.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, hiss Respark has been waiting for a
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: long time. Very patient. Thank you for waiting, his respark.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: You're on.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Hello, guys, how are you doing good? There? Are you good?
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I don't think it would be a good idea for
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: them to do the twenty fifth century thing, because that
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: would really remind the fans what they could have had,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: like what you said, so like that would be like
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: that would be really suicidal for them. I would rather
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: have like, like you know, you know who would be great.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Garrett Wan Makan cameo, oh yeah, and you know it's
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: it's good for him to get a paycheck too, right,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Like I was happy that loft and got a paycheck
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: this week. You know, he's such a nice guy and
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: then everything, so yeah that I mean, you know, usually
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I would be trying to trash that thing, but it's
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: nice to see somebody that cool getting a paycheck.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Yeah, checks, paychecks are nice, and yeah, if anyone out
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: there wants to send us a paycheck, right because I
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: do this ship for free, my friends.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: There's one of the behind the scene photos of Rocket
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: Sam all together, so yeah, that's right, or guy just
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: randomly in the background like some probably right.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: Speaking on Sam, I mean.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: They totally did her dirty by doing having all this
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: stuff happening and like, uh the first episode and her
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: being completely you know, ditsy and stuff, because you know,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I think if they wanted to do her correctly, it
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: would have been great if she was like really caring
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: and really authentic and stuff like that, and you know,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: like really basically a Neelix like a person that that
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: would definitely grow on people, because you know with Neelix, Okay,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: he's a little annoying, but he knows the gamma quadrant.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: S more like Dato mm hmm, you know, naive but
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: capable mm hmm.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: And like, uh, I didn't watch the episode, but did
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: they have her drink anything green?
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Didn't drink Yeah, yeah, she just download some shots. She
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: didn't actually drink anything.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: It would have been better if she dranks shots, you know,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: and then you know, drink something green and then say,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: you know this is this is disgusting, but I like
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: it and it's green.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Yeah, right, Yeah, have have that, you know. Yeah.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: By the way, this this.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Episode, you know, it reminds me of this nineteen ninety
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: nine classic that goes, oh dad dress so scandalous. Tong
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: tong tongue tong right, yeah, so, you know because of
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: the party scene and and this song was sing by
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: a guy named Cisco.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: I get it. I get it, we got it, we
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: got it.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Yeah anyway, yeah, yeah, okay, one one last thing. Rather
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: than commenting on the on the episode or the series
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: and stuff, I wanted to talk about March. Okay, is
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: it okay?
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: But March March?
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: March merch oh merch. Yeah yeah, that makes more sense. Yeah, yes,
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: what are we planning for March? Guys like that?
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Like I was thinking, like, you know, this four hundred
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: dollars like Lego set that was a totally missed opportunity
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: because if they had produced a set for like five
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: to ten dollars or even up to twenty dollars and
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: it was like the Athena or like the Enterprise, and
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: and then they released it around Christmas, that would have
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: been great stocking stuffers and it would be uh getting
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: an Enterprise into the hands of like tons of kids
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and getting them like interested in Star Trek and having
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: their their dads or grandfathers explain the Star Trek universe
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: to their grandkids or their kids. And then that would
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: you know, revitalize the whole franchise.
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: I mean, that's a lot of lifting for one Lego set.
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: But maybe.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: You know, they could they kept like just the Enterprise,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: the Bird to Prey and you know, all all these
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: other things.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know if they're Yeah, for sure, that'd
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: be great, But I don't know if they're going to
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: do a full line. I think that we're just getting
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: the Enterprise, but who knows.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: I think got time.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it would have been a lot better,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: and they would okay, it's they would make a lot
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: more money and you know, a lot more people would
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: be involved because you know, unless you're and then because
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: a lot of chech merchandise are overpriced and the and
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: the quality isn't that great, you know, with the exception
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: of Ego Moss those ships are amazing. Yeah, So I
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: mean I think they could maybe up the temp, up
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: the ante in that department.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I don't know if you heard earlier
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: in the show, but there's going to be a bridge
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: you can buy soon. So it's going to come in
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: all sorts of parts and it looks pretty big.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: But still that's big. Yeah.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: You want you want, you want as many people to
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: to have access to it as possible at this point, not.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: Able to get another storage in it.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Yeah, don't go for the you know, super big premium
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: stuff because that's I mean, if you guys can't can't
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: afford it, then it's too expensive.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Well, I mean, for the record, it's not
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: that I can't afford it. Yeah, I don't know the
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: space for it.
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: Okay, same with me.
- 1:07:25Speaker 7: That's the issue, you know what I'm talking about.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: Yeah, that you need to be able to be part
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: of it.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, you want a lot more people to be
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: to participate.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: So here's the thing. You look at the Star Wars sets,
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: and they will have the Millennium Falcon similar to that
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: enterprise that was put out, and then they will have
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: a smaller version of it that's more reasonably priced, and
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: then they'll have one that's this big that you can't
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: put them any figure. And okay, but Star Wars has
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: a draw that Star Trek just does not have with children.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: So I think if they did those those little sets
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: like that, I think they'd be in the clearance aisle
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: after a while. And that's something else that you don't
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: want when your product is seen in the clearance aisle. Yeah,
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: it sends a message that you know, this brand is
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: not viable.
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so they got to be careful with stuff like that. Yeah, okay,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: that's that's a fair point. But yeah, I just feel that.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I mean, I would love to I love always wait
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: here in Europe, and I would love to have access
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: to a lot more trek merge, but it's nearly impossible
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: to get out here.
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: Yeah, somebody goes and I can't afford it because I
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: need to when to build and when to keep steal.
- 1:08:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, a lot of people do that. I'm not.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: I'm not one of those people that has to keep
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: it in the original patch. For me, I want to
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: touch it, I want to know my play with it.
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: Yeah. My problem.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: When I was a kid, I I not only opened
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: everything up, but I took everything apart too.
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: I had the bridge set too, but.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: It's it's gone because I took it apart and it's
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: in it's you know a part I have like one
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: side panel piece and then the rest is in landfills
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: the rest the other is in an attic that in
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: a house that got sold years ago at just a
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: different pieces.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: You read that, I'm reading it. I read it ahead.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: You read it.
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: What kid wouldn't be reenacting measure of a man with
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: Lego toys? Though?
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Oh my, exactly Yeah, yeah, what's the candle one? What's
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: that one?
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: That's great?
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: Yeah, the ghost one?
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: But you know, like a while back, a while back,
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: there was a a company called Makeup Blocks and they
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: they had like they cling on uh like ship and
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: they uh and the Enterprise and was like pretty reasonably
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: priced and stuff.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: So it's not like it's never been done.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: They didn't sell very well.
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's like when they had the movies, like
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: arguably it was even.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: More well, no, you're you're talking about Creo, which was
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: which was has Hasbro's version of of Lego for a
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: while was Creo. And Megablocks is Mattel's version of Lego,
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: which is which is still around. They the the he
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Man uh ones are all Megablocks, which is Mattel. All
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: the Halo stuff is Megablox, Call of Duty is Megablox,
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Pokemon is is is Megablocks quality is great. Uh doesn't
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: have the same draw as Lego though, because there because
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: the thing with Lego, there are people that will buy
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: Star Wars Legos because they love Star Wars, and there
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: are people who will buy them because they love Legos.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: Lego itself has its own following.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, all right, all right, thank you guys, Yeah,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thanks for being on.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: All right, you know it's approved. It's a proved that
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Lego has its own draw. You know, you can get
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Lego sets where it's a it's a thousand piece set
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: of a television. Yeah right, yeah, a potted play it,
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: but it's made of Legos.
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: I was reading about there are people who they will
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: it doesn't matter, they will buy the Lego sets when
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: they come out and just hold on to them for
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: a few years because they always go up in value
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: and they just resell them.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: Then that's crazy.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: Yeah So whatever, But all right, I guess before we
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: head out, you guys are ready for the super Bowl?
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: What's that? The superb Owl?
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: The super Bowl? Yes, my favorite of the Owl. He's
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: got a tsy pop.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, I have a little together over here.
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: Oh nice, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I had to explain to my daughter why we're going
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: to Grandma's house later. What we're gonna watch the Super Bowl?
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: Well, what is that?
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Well, it's a football game, but there's funny commercials and
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: we have yummy snacks. She's like, oh, yeah, I couldn't
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: care less about the football, but no yummy snacks. What
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: kind of snacks, daddy. Yeah, they're gonna be tater tots, Daddy. Yo, honey,
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: there will be tater tots. Oh yeah, I would I
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: would like to go to the Super Bowl, Daddy.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: We're having some friends over that.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: They don't watch football, but it's more about food and
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: the fellowship and whatever.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't follow it. I don't know who's playing.
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: We're supposed to get a Spider Man trailer. That's all
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: I care about.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: And that's and that's the thing I was saying to
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: my son, what do you think we're gonna get? Oh,
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: get Spider Man. Maybe we'll get an Avengers and Other
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Avengers teaser. We might get a longer Masters of the
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: Universe trailer.
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: You know, we'll see they've announced the movies that it is,
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: and I know for sure we're not getting an avengerous one.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: All right, well, thanks for ruining it for me, you know. Sorry,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: you can just let me have.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: Super Bowl viewers dropped by millions of people.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: Yeah, the lowest rated super Bowl.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: Now we're gonna be on the news thanks to trek Cast.
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: That's right, that's right, we ruined it. All right?
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: What's next week's episode?
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: I don't know more, serf leat Academy, I don't as
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: anybody know. Nobody knows. Yeah, but it'll be on next week.
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: I look it up. Oh you got it?
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: Okay, all right, well, thanks everybody for listening. We'll catch
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: you next week.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: All right, bye.
- 1:13:54Speaker 11: This is Captain Benjamin Cisco of Deep Space nine and
- 1:13:57Speaker 11: Space God to the Bajorans.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I have a mission for you.
