THE FIRST MARTYRS FOR CHRIST
Our meditation today has the theme: The First Martyrs for Christ. We have celebrated just two days ago the first martyr in the newly established Church in Jerusalem, namely St. Steven. Today we meet a large number of martyrs, namely children the same age as the infant Jesus in Bethlehem, and they deserve the title of the first martyrs for Christ.
