- 0:30and multiple nerdgasm your guide to All
- 0:35Things
- 0:41nerdy we're all not in the same country but we're back to our normal places of
- 0:46residency you two are in the same country and that's all that's what
- 0:49counts that is true but we were in the same country last week too a different
- 0:57country not my country not your and we didn't get to meet up because I got
- 1:01really sick yeah that sucks I got food poisoning did you from that from all the
- 1:08eggs from putting eggs in beer
- 1:12from a cheeseburger from Hungry Jacks oh
- 1:16that's ironic I got a cheeseburger at the airport and I know it was the
- 1:21cheeseburger because I felt it sitting there and I've gone in the plane I can
- 1:25still sitting there and when I get to the hotel I'm going to throw this up in
- 1:28a minute and no was definitely the cheeseburger what country were you in
- 1:33that there was a Hungry Jack I'm just curious um I was in Vietnam flying to
- 1:37Malaysia okay was it a Hungry Jack or you just called Burger King Hungry Jack
- 1:41because you're from Australia I forget I'm just curious May been Burger King I get them
- 1:46confused still yeah that's fair no it's just because I worked at Hungry Jacks so
- 1:52every time someone mentions it I always think I think back and so for American
- 1:56or non- Australian listeners Burger King the trademark was owned in Australia so
- 2:01when Burger King opened in Australia they thought up another name Hungry
- 2:05Jacks yeah and there was one stage where we had two we had hunger Jacks and
- 2:09Burger King and the same time forever there was also a point where in New
- 2:14South Wales you you still had to call it Hungary Jacks but in Melbourne in
- 2:18Victoria they started being able to call it Burger King yeah right I remember
- 2:23there were literally there were both franchises in Sydney at one point and I
- 2:27mean two identical mhm exactly the same exactly same store
- 2:33layout same menu no matter which branch I worked at I did not give a [ __ ] you
- 2:39were going to get some trash I'll say this their chicken burgers damn good oh
- 2:44yeah well I'm now put off their cheeseburgers they got some ranch
- 2:49dressing on them that might be what you like about it oh yeah it's not common in
- 2:53Australia no it's not no it's not but I also do just very much like fried
- 2:58chicken so there's that too oh that was one thing welcome to Fried Chicken
- 3:05gasm was it Vietnam I think it was po eyeses oh yeah you fcking love Popeyes
- 3:10there's one right near my house I've told you that right I love Popeyes yeah
- 3:13Popeyes is good take you down the road popyes take you down the road you can
- 3:17get Popeyes and I'll get something from actually there's a restaurant called
- 3:20Dan's place where I'll get hey Matt is there an Arby near you cuz that's my
- 3:26favorite American fast food No in fact I don't know if there's an in Rhode Island
- 3:30at all I've never seen one one in New York City I've been to one in New York
- 3:35and I've been to one in um Park City Utah which is the first one I was at and
- 3:39I was like this is [ __ ] good one of the things I love have a Philly cheese
- 3:43steak have a cup of oil to dip it into well that's what I love about popey I'll
- 3:47get some fried chicken and a gallon of
- 3:50lemonade yeah and a scone zabi in Orban
- 3:54Massachusetts which is not really that close but I mean you could do it if you
- 3:59wanted to make it work I've told you about Papa John's Pizza right I know we
- 4:04talked about this when I first moved cuz I was like guys you're not going to
- 4:06believe this at Papa John's you get a pizza with dipping sauce which is to dip
- 4:12slices of pizza into and the dipping sauce is it's garlic
- 4:17butter now you're talking yeah you [ __ ] dip Pizza in garlic butter
- 4:22that's amazing and then you please tell me you get toppings on this teza and
- 4:25this is not just a cheese on bread thing no no no you no you get toppings on yeah
- 4:30I mean I get pineapple I don't know how you guys feel about that have we talked
- 4:32about this man I'm all I'm all for pineapple this should be in the AMA
- 4:36episode which we'll talk about ler should be do you like pineapple yeah I
- 4:40pineapp horrible Anchovies and Peter That's Where It's At anchovies are good
- 4:43I can't get those though cuz my wife anchovies are very good you know how L
- 4:48feels about them not sure she's ever had them you can get these little dried
- 4:50anchovies in uh in Malaysia they call I and billies and uh why are you telling
- 4:56me about this now and they're [ __ ] great a cute name did you have NY lak
- 5:00while you were there oh that stuff so good I don't think I did it's like fried
- 5:05chicken on rice with this chili sauce and these little I and billies I wasn't
- 5:10that adventurous eating food after see I used to get so when I worked
- 5:15at um I won't say where I worked I worked in um in Sydney and we went to
- 5:20God was that [ __ ] suburb anyway it was a whole street full of like
- 5:22Indonesian Malaysian food and like um I worked with a couple of guys from there
- 5:26and so we go to these restaurants that's where I got the like soft bone chicken
- 5:29that I had that's when I still ate meat and that God that food all that food
- 5:33every every place on that street was [ __ ] incredible yeah I didn't know
- 5:37what I was eating so now that you've said that that that nasty Lamar has got
- 5:41the little things in it makes sense delicious I I am upset about one thing I
- 5:45did when I got back I screwed up my Judy free
- 5:49alcohol oh I could have got more oh one of the ones I picked up I got like a
- 5:54twin pack and I was thinking they're both liter bottles they 700 mil bottle I
- 5:59could have got another 600 mil of alcohol well rookie mistake you probably
- 6:06smuggling quite a few Mills inside you though
- 6:12so that probably made up for alcohol's sort of expensive in Malaysia not on a
- 6:18plane though is what I'm is what I'm getting at in Vietnam it's
- 6:24cheap well Malaysia's Muslim majority they don't want you to drink there they
- 6:28prefer it if you did I I there was quite a lot of alcohol in
- 6:33me because we got went to the lounge before we got on the flight so I just
- 6:35sat there drinking lots of alcohol I did notice every time every
- 6:40time we got sent a photo and you said oh just having a quick beer and it was like a [ __ ]
- 6:45Stein so yeah with an egg in it Luke did
- 6:49you eventually try that I did did yeah I
- 6:52did egg be and I still you can't really
- 6:56taste the beer yeah I wouldn't oh it's egg and vanilla right it's it's
- 7:03condensed milk egg y oh yeah no no no no this is for people who don't like beer
- 7:08but there is a I think Hannah took a video so I can post that ah of me
- 7:14drinking egg beer did I tell you about my neighbor my two neighbors and I went
- 7:20to the pub for lunch one day and uh and we're like should we have a beer yeah
- 7:25let's have a beer right so I order a beer and my other neighbor orders a beer
- 7:28and then my other neighbor went ah beer eh yeah I drink beer and we're like okay
- 7:33good order yourself a beer and he's like M okay and he goes up to the barman and
- 7:38he goes what is the weakest beer I could
- 7:43possibly order and he goes well kind of the same but maybe this one's a light
- 7:47one if you're not really EAS he's okay what is the smallest glass of beer I
- 7:52could order and he's like well you can get the little midi he's like right
- 7:55could I have half a midi of being Poli wow yeah I'm like mate just get a Coke you
- 8:02don't have toess us drink you don't like beer mate if you were trying to
- 8:07impresses you have [Laughter]
- 8:12failed that's adorable he was trying to fit in yeah he was yeah yeah good to go
- 8:19if you don't like it don't drink it yeah don't don't Life's too short for that
- 8:23[ __ ] I didn't like beer until I did and I don't I don't really know when that
- 8:28that transition it just happened yeah when I was about 18 I
- 8:34guess I have found out that I I like the type of beer it took a long time for me
- 8:38to work out what type of beer and I hate Australian beer Australian beers are I
- 8:43hate a lot of Australian beers too I guarantee I bet let me guess you both
- 8:47like German hell's logger kind of [ __ ] yes we do yeah
- 8:53that's pure with icy waters of North Sea the
- 8:59Purity laws beer laws nothing funny about it call the Purity laws you might
- 9:04think that's sus because it's Germany because it's German yeah the Germans are
- 9:08very well behaved at the moment oh yeah they don't they don't step out of they
- 9:13don't Goose step out of line at all beer is cheaper than water that's
- 9:17not a joke it literally is um in Vietnam it's true it was cuz I was doing this
- 9:23whole thing alternating and but sometimes it was actually cheaper just
- 9:26to have a second beard than it was to buy a bottle of water
- 9:30I'm not joking at all a beer was cheaper than a coke at the swamp bar where I
- 9:35went to UNI at Western Sydney I remember the swamp bar $5 jugs [ __ ] me I haven't
- 9:40been well obviously I haven't been at the swamp bar in a long time didn't to
- 9:44say that it' be creepy if you hung out I did go there a lot back in the day
- 9:49yeah me too yeah Jolly I went to school there to be clear but I didn't I
- 9:55didn't bands there and there were girls exactly bands and girls
- 10:01incredbly cheap beer yeah cuz I remember a Coke was was
- 10:05$280 but a beer was $2 20 like like a a
- 10:09cup of beer and if you brought your own cup it was even cheaper it was 20 cents
- 10:14cheaper if they didn't have to wash the glass for
- 10:19you I spent many a night there never went to UNI there but spent many a night
- 10:24at that bar I didn't graduate from there that was I dropped out of that one I
- 10:28went to that uni just not that campus like sure yeah so un need for
- 10:34suckers well I didn't oh I didn't finish myg I have other degrees since then but
- 10:38uh yeah yeah how many degrees do I have
- 10:43zero do I need any probably no one's asked no one's ever
- 10:50asked hey um I did get asked when I moved when I moved to Singapore they
- 10:54asked they because if you are going to get an expat Visa you have to have a
- 10:57degree hey I can oh average average um diplomas in my household I'm doing
- 11:03pretty good average because your wife has enough for the both of you yes yeah
- 11:08yeah when I I told you I did a background check for a job here and uh
- 11:12and they wanted to contact like they wanted to go way back and contact like
- 11:16schools that I went to this kind of stuff and I was like I was like good
- 11:19luck like they don't [ __ ] exist anymore mate yeah yeah go back to not
- 11:26not school this is like an ageny this some so they they hire some company do
- 11:29this and they're like oh yeah we need like references we want to contact this
- 11:31and I'm I'm like I don't even know where these people are
- 11:37like did they ask for like School in the middle of [ __ ] nowhere the school
- 11:42doesn't exist anymore cuz America's a place where they're concerned about
- 11:45diplomas aren't they they are but they don't understand when I talk about our
- 11:50school system anyway so you know yeah true no not that they don't understand
- 11:54it's just it's different so it's they kind of like yeah whatever like where
- 11:58it's here they go what's your um you know what do they call it
- 12:04um I can't even remember what they call them now we we would say like Junior
- 12:09seniors they say like freshman freshman all all these things that I'm like I
- 12:13don't know what that means high school but you can but you can also be a
- 12:16freshman in middle school and then a senior in middle school and then you're
- 12:20a freshman again in high school right yeah I don't know what any of that means
- 12:23so that's yeah you go to primary school then you go to high school and then you
- 12:27go to UNI Maybe I just play Dum look I have these certificates you're just
- 12:31going to have to take my word for it that they're legitimate you know what I
- 12:34know how to do this job mate either hire me or don't hire me
- 12:37exactly ask me if I want the job so call my boss in Sydney he will tell you he he
- 12:44loves me and he will he'll tell you that and maybe that'll be enough yeah you
- 12:47know what always makes me laugh there's a school in in London called University
- 12:51college and that is the most madeup sounding school where did you go I went to
- 12:56uh University College in London
- 13:02yeah uh well we've sort of been around the world should we jump into some of
- 13:06the news we probably should sure that's what people new probably listen to this
- 13:10[ __ ] for yes yes that's what they're here for upto-date news now I saw an
- 13:14Apple ad this week it's been a long time since I've purchased an iPad but I do
- 13:19have an iPad and interested in getting a new your daughter has iPad my daughter has an
- 13:25iPad um occasionally I'm allowed to use it to um put on TV shows for her to
- 13:31watch yeah but I'd like an iPad of my own occasionally in the future um and I
- 13:38saw an ad for for a very thin very thin iPad that packs a lot in very nice
- 13:43looking the new iPad and it was yeah well I thought it was a very nice
- 13:47looking ad too but apparently people are very angry yeah yeah it's
- 13:53interesting so the new iPad Pro specifically is the
- 13:59device Apple has ever made which is an interesting statistic that I'm sure they
- 14:03and apparently people double checked oh it actually is it's thinner than the
- 14:06iPad iPod Nano that's how [ __ ] thin this thing is wow yeah
- 14:12right IP Nano wasn't that it's I think you're remember pretty [ __ ] thin
- 14:18apparently apparently it's um some of the power cables are slightly wider than
- 14:23it like amazing yeah it's really thin this thing there's such a thing as too
- 14:28small we're not we're not asking for this someone pointed out they did have
- 14:32problems with the old ones bending how the [ __ ] is this one GNA Bend you
- 14:37remember though when mobile phones this before smartphones came in got smaller
- 14:42and smaller and smaller y until it was ridiculous I had one that was this
- 14:46little circle that you had to flip open like not not even a flip open this way
- 14:51you flipped it that way to to answer a call or to type in the tiny little
- 14:57numbers like that was that was the trend at the time it was
- 15:01going smaller smaller smaller until we went the other yeah but I'll tell you
- 15:05and I we can get back to the iPad in a sec but it's something that you said off
- 15:09the cuff months ago that I haven't been able to stop thinking about right cuz
- 15:13I've got I've got the iPhone 15 Pro Max right the largest iPhone that Apple made
- 15:20got the 14 pro Max yeah yeah I like it very much it's the best phone I've ever had
- 15:25mhm but sometimes I still think it's not quite big enough right yeah sure so get
- 15:30an iPad because as an e-reader for example it's a little bit
- 15:34small iPads are very expensive for just something that I could pop a video on I
- 15:40I really it's really hard for me to justify that why I'm I'm not going to
- 15:44buy an additional iPad while ever I've
- 15:47got this iPhone Pro Max but you jokingly said once why don't you just get the
- 15:53iPad Mini with a Sim and it's a dumb suggest but I can't
- 15:59stop thinking about it like I'd need to carry a bag around cuz it wouldn't fit
- 16:04in my pocket a phone yeah and use it as a phone cuz I don't make calls I can't
- 16:10remember the last time I made a phone call data plans are not as ridiculous as
- 16:15they used to be here anymore so you could just get a pure data plan and way
- 16:19you go maybe yeah so maybe next time you'll see me walking around with this
- 16:24huge thing against my ear making a call well these [ __ ] iPads are thinner
- 16:28than the phones that's how th they are so so on that basis I guess they came up
- 16:34with this ad campaign and they wanted to show you know all the stuff you can do
- 16:38on an iPad right and I can see I completely see where they're coming from
- 16:40and I didn't even think anything of this when I saw the ad which I assume you
- 16:44didn't either right you just watch the ad go oh that's cool it's a hydraulic
- 16:48press and then it's got a bunch of creative stuff in it like musical
- 16:52instruments and paint and like cameras and lenses and it crushes everything
- 16:58down down very dramatically cuz and people like that stuff right so it cres
- 17:04down very dramatically yeah and then and then afterwards it opens up and it's an
- 17:07iPad it's it's smooshed all of that stuff into an iPad what what I
- 17:12subscribed to a YouTube channel of a guy who just crushes cameras specifically
- 17:16cameras on hydraulic presses yeah pop up on the algorithm every day again you
- 17:22people just crushing stuff and I'll watch it it's the thing yeah like
- 17:26shooting stuff or like you know that highs speeed camera one that [ __ ]
- 17:30Gavin from R slow slow-mo guys all that stuff it's very popular my daughter is
- 17:35obsessed with watching people smos packets of eyeliner on YouTube
- 17:41that's a thing they get like not eyeliner ey Shadow the pain P powdery
- 17:48stuff and yeah the powdery ones they get a like a little needly thing this like
- 17:53and I'm not talking the one one stray YouTuber I'm talking there's a trend and
- 17:58they they smos it up and they smos the next little Cube up they smos the next
- 18:03one should we start doing that as well just just going honestly my wife's like
- 18:08why aren't we cashing in on this [ __ ] yeah like that's weird
- 18:13okay well but any a lot of people online see well seemingly and again I don't
- 18:19know how much of this was just like somebody looked at it this way and then
- 18:22now everybody's trying to be like mad at Apple or whatever but the sentiment on
- 18:27the internet now is that Apple's trying to say we've destroyed all of this stuff
- 18:33because [ __ ] you you don't need it anymore use your iPad [ __ ] you musical
- 18:37instruments [ __ ] you real real artists who paint you know [ __ ] like you use
- 18:43this digital thing instead so think what they trying to say they just want to be
- 18:47angry no they're really not saying that they're absolutely not saying that the
- 18:50people at Apple are artists and creators and they're saying that this will do all
- 18:56of that stuff you this is a quote from somebody on Twitter
- 19:02everything beautiful charming and analog will be destroyed by a flat black screen
- 19:07you will never hear music from an actual instrument what do you mean you will
- 19:12never hear it don't buy the iPad if you don't want it keep your trumpet it's not
- 19:17like they're saying you want this bring me a trumpet I'm going to have to smash
- 19:20something in the same thing so are they saying that people who these artists who
- 19:25create stuff digitally and I've seen do some up that they're not artists and
- 19:29screw those guys cuz it's the same W yeah interesting there's a great
- 19:34interview from the early '90s maybe even late 80s with Trent resner right and
- 19:38he's on some Cleveland Morning Show
- 19:42program right and they're asking him why he thinks using a computer to make music
- 19:48is a legitimate yeah uh Pursuit for an artist and he was like well I don't see a
- 19:54computer differently to a trumpet or a keyboard like the the doesn't tell me
- 19:59what to write I write the music and I use the computer cuz I want a a
- 20:04futuristic computery sound and the guy's like that sounds like cheating to me
- 20:09he's like no I can't be clear enough the computer doesn't write the music I write
- 20:15the music the computer is the instrument now it can well now it can but I don't think
- 20:22Trent does it I feel like I feel like you've got to do a lot of mental work to
- 20:26think that that's like what this is you know because have you ever seen an ad
- 20:33before offended like do and and then I saw I think John grber or somebody
- 20:39posted saying is this what happened to Microsoft back in the day you get too
- 20:43big right Apple was always this kind of Plucky like um think different right
- 20:50they used to do all stuff like this and everyone was like oh good on them you
- 20:53know whatever now they are the [ __ ] richest company in the world and yeah
- 20:59where's my 25% on the Apple Store yeah yeah everything that they do gets
- 21:03scrutinized and if there's a way people can take it the wrong way they [ __ ]
- 21:06will definitely I would was fair I'm going to say half the people criticizing
- 21:13this are probably doing so on their iPhone yeah you're probably right look
- 21:17look I mean it's 2024 if they were crushing a trans person I'd get that you
- 21:22know what I mean I'd understand why that was sure controversial but a trumpet
- 21:28really we're standing up for trumpet rights now
- 21:33but is it the trumpet or is it the idea of the trumpet like I I just don't
- 21:38really understand like cuz some I did see someone said like oh they've trashed
- 21:42all these actual objects that could have been given to people who wanted them
- 21:45it's like wait what are you angry about you angry about the actual objects were
- 21:48destroyed or what if you want a trumpet mate so if it was all CGI Ian maybe it
- 21:52is for all I know it would be okay it's not the concept you're upset with cuz
- 21:56these other people are like saying oh they could have given away they're just
- 22:00looking for stuff to complain about because well that's how feel about the
- 22:03whole thing a little bit also musicians who
- 22:09use software usually use it to record
- 22:13music not to synthesize music out of thin air like Matt you are a musician
- 22:19you use computers and Etc electronics and yet do you have analog instruments
- 22:25in the very room you're sitting right now a lot of pleasure from from playing
- 22:30the guitars and lately the piano I'm trying to learn I've always wanted to
- 22:33learn Pi I'm very rudimentary piano skills I'm trying to get better and I
- 22:37get a lot of pleasure out of it because it's not the same as like the computer
- 22:40it's like you said uh like I I'm not obviously I'm not Trent resner but I
- 22:45agree with what he said which is that I can tell the computer I have this
- 22:49musical idea right I could do it on the guitar would be the easiest tool for me
- 22:54to get an idea out but I could also just go on the computer and I tell the
- 22:56computer perform these notes and then I can say okay now make it
- 23:00sound like a chill make it sound like a [ __ ] whatever I'm still like creating
- 23:05it and and it is different to do that versus just sitting down and kind of
- 23:12almost kind of feeling it out so like I just don't see how this it's not going
- 23:15to go away just because Apple made a [ __ ] thin iPad you know is it
- 23:19Kristoff Beck was is that the composer for Buffy yes he used to do the spot
- 23:24score for Buffy every week and there's a great DVD extra feature where he says
- 23:29he does all the score like the orchestral score on a synth because he
- 23:34doesn't have time to record an orchestra each time expensive however he always
- 23:39does the solo artists live because if you did it all synth you'd be able to
- 23:44tell and you'd say that's a synth score so he does the they tell you yeah like
- 23:49right yeah so he does the all the you know the basic generic strings but then he gets an
- 23:55OBO yeah whatever whatever your yeah your feature instrument is you get a
- 23:59real artist art that person interview was complain TR like using computer
- 24:04tuning do I know what FY artists do and the fact that like a punch isn't a punch
- 24:09like they're all probably not Luke probably not yeah yeah probably not i'
- 24:14I'd go as far saying yeah they thought all that dialogue in Madam web was
- 24:17recorded on set that's a deep cut joke listeners if you don't know apparently
- 24:22did you heard about this The Madam web ADR I just heard it was terrible I
- 24:25haven't seen it all apparently it's like you know talked about the remastered
- 24:29versions of Buffy where you can see people are on screen now and they but
- 24:33their mouths aren't moving this is a [ __ ] multi-million dollar 20124 movie
- 24:37that this happens in there's literally a character standing there
- 24:41talking and his mouth's not moving because they ADR dialogue into it so
- 24:46weird wow what film that came out recently is in trouble for using oh it's
- 24:53Roadhouse was uh shot before the strike edited after the strike they couldn't
- 24:58get the actors back so they used AI for some ADR oh
- 25:04interesting and everyone who was on strike were like you know why we were on
- 25:08strike right yeah H and they're like well no no no we're doing it off the
- 25:13actors in the movie and they're like well that's a fine line mate ill
- 25:18informed well yeah the we talked about the um late night with the devil thing
- 25:23already right would they had the pictures in I think we talked about that
- 25:26that oh that was contrs that movie have you seen that no no I know I really I
- 25:30want to watch that I might watch that this weekend actually that looks very
- 25:33good I'm going to go watch um Fallout I need to do that the show yes yeah you
- 25:39should I need to I think it's just okay how many episodes in are you how many EP
- 25:46two yeah see no no I felt the same way I I watched the first one I was like oh
- 25:50it's okay second one I got to the end and I actually said to Jan I was like
- 25:54you know what I don't really mind if we don't watch this that's that's where I'm
- 25:57at right now the first one was pretty good but the second one was so flat I
- 26:01was like but then she said no no no we should watch it and then I was like all
- 26:05right and then after I I it must have been after 3 I was like oh you know what
- 26:10no no no it it is good started to click okay something about episode two was
- 26:14because you know it was the big fight with the ghoul and uh you know no
- 26:18spoilers there's a big fight in a town and I was just like I just don't care
- 26:22about this yeah I don't care about anybody I don't know what's going on
- 26:26like why why is this happening and all my knowledge I have based on the games
- 26:31not on anything that told me in the show yeah yeah I get excited they mention the
- 26:36enclave and I go o and Jenna was like oh what's that and I'm like oh they'll
- 26:40explain it if it's important I don't want to overload because Jenna hates
- 26:43Bethesda doesn't she Yes she hates yeah yeah she doesn't like she doesn't like
- 26:49the the look of them there something about the the the character style in the
- 26:54animation that she finds offputting like uncanny valley too real yeah and
- 26:59the bug she got I told you she tried to play Fallout 4 and she hit this bug
- 27:03where you your your um cryo tube doesn't open apparently it was a quite a common
- 27:06bug I didn't get it you guys didn't get it she got it and she said she just sat
- 27:10there being like I don't know what to do because she didn't know it was a bug
- 27:15because she doesn't play these [ __ ] games like and that would be very offputting
- 27:20for that was literally her introduction to this this this series of games was
- 27:24trying to play Fallout what I [ __ ] do it just doesn't work yeah yeah I read
- 27:28recently that if you don't put any points into luck in Fallout 4 before you
- 27:33begin you don't even make it into the shelter into the Vault that's funny I
- 27:40kind of want to try that because you default with points and like if you just
- 27:42if you go in and minus all the way down to zero yeah then you don't make it in
- 27:48yeah it's Shut by the time you get there the um the show oh just to wrap up that
- 27:53Apple thing that Apple's apologized they're pulling the ad it's not going to
- 27:56make it the TV uh yeah well I mean the sentiment is strong
- 28:01enough that they kind of had no choice right yeah I'm going to buy an iPad now
- 28:06just to piss everyone off and I'm going to smash all my stuff yeah yeah yeah I
- 28:11got to smash a trumpet going to smash it so good not my trumpet someone else's
- 28:15I'll find a kid with a trumpet and I'll smash it I don't have a trumpet but I
- 28:18still just find it very strange that all these people are complaining like this
- 28:21one here um everything beautiful Charming analog will be destroyed by a
- 28:26flat black screen you must never scul see a sculp bus never hear music from an
- 28:30actual instrument never feel the texture of real things a silicon slab and Tim
- 28:34Cook would permanently stand between you and the world and I'm posting this on my
- 28:39iPhone Yeah Tim Cook came to my house smashed my trumpet and he's foring to
- 28:45use an iPad y I just I I don't did
- 28:50people say that when they first saw film in 1905 did they say well plays plays
- 28:55are [ __ ] now you know about this the other day about how you know like people
- 29:01thought books were like people are just going to be [ __ ] reading all day now
- 29:05kids are [ __ ] they're not going to remember anything they've got these what
- 29:08what you know yeah yeah yeah in their minds looking at these [ __ ] books
- 29:14yeah mate there were whole movements the Lite movement went around from printing
- 29:17press to printing press smashing the Machinery cuz they were like this is
- 29:21[ __ ] they make a TV commercial where they smashed
- 29:24them might have been less successful if they had M I didn't watch Fallout yet I
- 29:30I I will I did watch the first episode of Shogun oh I got to watch that apparently
- 29:36it's like the best [ __ ] show in the world look it is very
- 29:42good but I think it's not as good as the original see I love the original I'm
- 29:46worried about that because the original is is like a very I guess important piece of pop
- 29:53culture for me personally yeah so the strong part of the the original at least
- 29:59in the first few episodes for me was this utter sense of isolation that this
- 30:04character felt being in Japan not speaking the language not understanding
- 30:09the culture even slightly in this he can speak to any one of about a dozen people
- 30:14oh really and yeah and like he's having a bit of trouble but not a whole lot of
- 30:20trouble that's and uh so it is still very good they're focusing much more on
- 30:27surrounding character story lines as well so in the old one it was mostly
- 30:31just what he saw and what he understood and what he didn't understand whereas
- 30:35this is like a a much more holistic story being you kind of saw everything
- 30:39from his perspective in the original and you figured out what going it's like you
- 30:42know kind of like I talked about I I like movies that do that where you you
- 30:46learn along with the character you learn as they learn yeah this is not that this
- 30:50is not that but it's beautifully done it's beautifully done yeah okay I mean
- 30:55because it doesn't need to be the same I did because one of the you just made me
- 30:58think one of the things I always think of is you know um George Lucas's thing
- 31:03about with THX where it's like you uh it's this world and things aren't
- 31:08explained you know like what are they doing with the [ __ ] cubes and all
- 31:10that kind of stuff you wanted to capture that feeling of these Japanese films
- 31:13when he would watch a Japanese film and he'd be like are they doing that yeah
- 31:18exactly what is that but they don't explain that because that's just what
- 31:20they do in Japan and like when I watched that um there's a a Chinese film called
- 31:24riger mortis or the American version is called riger Morse and it's about
- 31:27vampires and ghosts but they're the Chinese version of those which are
- 31:31completely different and it's like like like the vampires have to count the
- 31:35grains of rice in a like there all these weird Legends and and it's just like I
- 31:41like what the [ __ ] is going on and it's like oh but that makes it
- 31:44awesome never seen thing to get away from those vampires was it you throw
- 31:48like right and they had to stop and count yeah and then and to to to
- 31:52interact with the ghosts on a physical level you have to put your blood on the
- 31:55on the string and then you can wrap the string around and it's just all this
- 31:58stuff that's just like wow this is amazing and it's like I don't understand
- 32:01it at first but you figure it out from like context clues and and it's not kind
- 32:06of like you're not kind of babied into understanding you just have to figure it
- 32:10out and then yeah original Shogun felt like that there's this cultural thing in
- 32:15China which is awesome and I think it's just DST or maybe it's just budhist
- 32:19because there's lots of religions in China but the funeral culture Li last
- 32:24seven days and each day there's a different thing to do and the last last
- 32:28day you sprinkle rice flour all over the floor in your house and the next day you
- 32:32check for Footprints wow yeah just to make sure
- 32:37that is is a Chinese custom where you burn paper Effigies of things you want
- 32:42the dead to have yes that's [ __ ] awesome I watched a movie it's huge like
- 32:47if you go to the markets in Chinatown like in Singapore for example there'll
- 32:51just be store after store after store with paper iPads paper cars paper houses
- 32:57how do make an Effy of hookers and blow yeah but like yeah so if I died you
- 33:02could crush a trumpet and then I would have a trumpet that trumpet yeah yeah no
- 33:07because there was a movie I watched I fig I no idea what it was called a
- 33:10science fiction movie where one of the characters is a ghost and so the the
- 33:14other an main character would like go and buy a burn bur a thing and then the
- 33:19ghost would get it he would have it straight away yeah and I was like what
- 33:23the [ __ ] and then I found oh that's there was a girl I worked with who was
- 33:26legitimately angry one day cuz she was like she'd gone to her grandfather's
- 33:30funeral on the weekend and they were like they burnt an a paper iPad for him
- 33:34but they didn't burn a paper charger how's he going to charge it
- 33:40wow it's a good question where do it's so cool though I mean I I think it's
- 33:46cool I mean yeah yeah I don't obviously I don't believe it's he's gon to ask
- 33:51someone he's GNA have to borrow a charger now yeah from another ghost
- 33:54every time from another ghost yeah well there there's a Hungry Ghost Festival
- 33:59every August um in Chinese culture where ghosts are [ __ ] hungry and they're
- 34:04coming around and everyone leaves food outside their house for the month of
- 34:07August that's awesome because otherwise they're coming in Matt they're coming in
- 34:12House of course yeah right yeah so mostly oranges and fruit and stuff
- 34:17outside every door that that was sort of one thing I sort of found a little bit
- 34:21weird in Vietnam because Vietnam is primarily atheist but they're also quite
- 34:28religious as well so they'll have shrines and
- 34:32everything so they don't believe in like a religion but they'll leave stuff at
- 34:36shrines and stuff for the ghosts that are around but they're also not it's
- 34:42like Customs versus what do you actually believe yeah yeah I think the word
- 34:47Superstition probably applies except that it sounds like it's derogatory but
- 34:51it condescending in a way it's not it's not meant that way look on the subject of Fallout
- 34:58um Fallout the show is very popular it was been more popular than apparently
- 35:04Bluey and uh that's that's a big call and uh and apparently gry's Anatomy wait
- 35:10wait are you going to say crossover are you going to say Fallout Blue Cross that
- 35:14would be interesting that would be very interesting I'd love to see bandit in uh
- 35:19in the Fallout Universe in the Wasteland hang out dog meat
- 35:24yeah yeah yes blue as dog meat I I thought was interesting Grace Anatomy
- 35:29apparently is very popular which is interesting to me because Jenna's
- 35:33watching it and I don't know that is it just been released on Netflix I I guess
- 35:38you probably don't know but I always has watched it but I've never
- 35:44seen is that the one with McDreamy is that gra Anatomy um yeah what's his name
- 35:50uh Patrick Duffy is that his name Patrick Duffy no Patrick Duffy is from
- 35:54step by step isn't he is he am I just making that up oh my God my
- 36:00keyboard doesn't work that's going to be a problem for typing yeah that's all it will be a
- 36:07problem though to be honest apart from that's fine I'm just going to plug a
- 36:10power cord into it in case there we go don't be [ __ ] around with power cords
- 36:15mid recording man oh it's definitely not Patrick
- 36:19Duffy Patrick Duffy's from step by step
- 36:23right Anatomy Patrick Dempsey Patrick Dempsey
- 36:28yeah there you go that's you mean no I don't know half the shows on his name is
- 36:33Patrick at least so I look like less of a [ __ ] witht on the top 10 close I don't
- 36:38know half the shows and the other half shows I'm sort of surprised are on
- 36:44there so we've got fallouts number one that's just surpass Bluey then we got
- 36:49Grace Anatomy then we have Vikings it's a good show then we have the residents
- 36:55certain point it's a good show yeah the residence res residents um unlocked a
- 37:00jail experiment all right then NCIS that's always popular I forget that
- 37:06show exists that was a trivia question at trivia and then when he read the
- 37:10answer I was like I [ __ ] forget that show exists there now a mil can't
- 37:13believe they had enough story lines to
- 37:17stretch Naval detectives out into an entire show
- 37:23literally 21 seasons of NCIS the m just
- 37:27the one there's 21 Seasons yeah I've got one episode of Friends
- 37:33left oh wow I've done it almost amazing
- 37:38I I proba die in my sleep tonight having never watched we've had it on a little
- 37:42bit and uh we just watched the the series where Tom celic is oh yeah yeah
- 37:47yeah and uh it is very good yeah that where her dad's like maybe I'll let you
- 37:52drive my Porsche and you let me and he's like Dad please stop talking yeah yeah
- 37:57yeah let it go yeah and then we get on
- 38:01to the last three Family Guy okay which
- 38:04I bobsburgers which Bobs Burgers is good I could see I don't know bobsburgers and
- 38:10then Bobbers is funny you might like it okay then a movie every told me I'd like
- 38:15boj Jack Horseman and I wasn't too F I didn't like boj Jack Horseman so
- 38:20bobsburgers I think you would like okay bobber is funny yeah right yeah it's
- 38:25different yeah it is different I don't know exactly how to describe it's almost
- 38:31like it's very dry it's like I like dry like dry yeah but it's I think it's very
- 38:36funny yeah it's not like family guide or anything it's very it's its own thing
- 38:41mhm yeah it's good show I watched two things this week I watched baby reindeer
- 38:47because everybody is talking about it look it's very good but I didn't enjoy
- 38:52it and when I when I finished it
- 38:57it's it's listed as a comedy but it's not a comedy I mean he it's about a
- 39:02comedian and he tells jokes but it's not a comedy and
- 39:07like you there there's some really some
- 39:13really full-on rape scenes in this show right
- 39:17really yeah and one episode where this just just dude just gets continually
- 39:23raped and uh like I was like I don't know man like I don't know why
- 39:29everyone's everyone's so ened with this show yeah [ __ ] hell um why is it
- 39:36called baby reindeer may may I ask okay so the premise of the show is no not at
- 39:41all so minute one of episode one you find out so okay he's a Scottish standup
- 39:47comedian wannabe comes down to London gets a job in a bar while he's doing
- 39:52gigs and this lady who comes into the bar every day calls him baby dear and
- 39:58flatters him tells him he's good looking tells him he's funny and he [ __ ]
- 40:01loves it after a while it starts getting a bit creepy but by that time where he's
- 40:07decided she's probably a stalker he's kind of egged it on for months and
- 40:12months and so he's in this he's in this weird position where he doesn't know
- 40:15what to do okay that's the story that's the that sounds pretty good it's
- 40:19interesting and it's beautifully done but uh I don't know it's not funny it's
- 40:25not comedy all right um yeah so genre is TV drama
- 40:30British TV comedies this shows offbeat I saw it listed as a black comedy in what
- 40:35I just Googled so all right I don't know man I did watch something else though
- 40:40that the rape is not as funny as the rape in norsman I guess is what you're
- 40:43saying all all the rapes in Norman are funny all of them I don't know how they
- 40:49managed to make them that funny cuz you feel like they shouldn't be funny but
- 40:54they but also because you know how you you know how you can make fun of
- 40:57yourself but you can't make fun of others that's that's the line you can
- 41:00you can punch up but you can't punch down yeah Nori is made by Vikings modern
- 41:05day Vikings who everyone knows they were rapists so they make jokes about them
- 41:10raping I think that's the only way it works yeah that show is [ __ ] funny
- 41:15because there's no yeah yeah it's very very good uh the other show I watched is
- 41:20Ripley which is a a ret or not it's
- 41:25about I say I love that yeah no this is this is a
- 41:31remake of The Talented Mr Ripley or rather it is it is a new adaptation of
- 41:36the book that that was based on it's the exact same story line so if you've seen
- 41:40it uh the movie you know this story except that it's done completely
- 41:45differently for starter it's shot in black and white like a European film it
- 41:49is the most beautiful television series I've ever watched but also instead of it
- 41:55being like this kind of the the whole point of The Talented Mr
- 42:00Ripley movie was that like it's so awkward this guy's like copying this guy
- 42:04is he does he is he in love with him is he just trying too hard no in this
- 42:10coldhearted psychopath right from the start Andrew Scott plays Ripley I like
- 42:16him he's good yeah he's excellent in this and they've had to kind of shift it
- 42:20because they're meant to be in their 20s so they've kind of had to shift
- 42:22everyone's age up 10 years so Andrew Scott can play it not
- 42:27he's double that easily right yeah that's right so they've made him 30 and he passes he
- 42:32passes if you squint 47 he's 47 is he I mean he looks good
- 42:39for it like no question but yeah I I was G to say I know he's older than
- 42:44that yeah he's good actor though oh cool yeah I watch something I won't I won't
- 42:50go on about it because I already have no I want you to I want you to I want you
- 42:53to go right on about it I will say I finished Star Trek bicard season 3 and I [ __ ]
- 43:00loved it and I did I cannot believe I'm so glad that I forced myself
- 43:07to watch season two even though I could have skipped it but I I wouldn't have
- 43:11because it's just not how I I I'm not sure I would I would have watched season
- 43:143 I would never have done that you missed something or I would have yeah I
- 43:18would have just never watched season 3 and so I'm just so glad I I forced
- 43:22myself season 2 which was absolute garbage and to be honest you you can and
- 43:26should skip it it's literally there's a throwaway sentence in season 3 where
- 43:30they mention it and then they go anyway forget that [ __ ] literally the character
- 43:34says forget that nonsense amazing and uh man yeah the
- 43:39last two episodes of season 3 of Picard were
- 43:45manipulative but in a way that I was
- 43:49like okay pretty awesome yeah if they can convince you to go along with it it
- 43:54does it doesn't matter how heavy-handed it is I mean I was smiling as I was
- 43:58going yeah all right fine okay let's do
- 44:01that then so did they Lean Into The
- 44:06Nostalgia Star Trek is that
- 44:09yes and and it surprised me surprised me
- 44:14that's how I speak now yeah um I like
- 44:17that it wrapped up a little plot
- 44:21hole from that I hadn't considered yeah there is a plot Hole uh technically and
- 44:27I don't I don't want to spoil anything I know this Show's been out for ages does
- 44:30anyone give a [ __ ] if I spoil something we've seen it so the rules are there
- 44:34we've got the rules why you're not you're not you're not spoiling Picard
- 44:38you're spoiling the Next Generation right to be clear well it is a spoiler
- 44:42for Picard in a way because until you get to the end of season you won't know
- 44:47that this is even a plot Point that's going to come up I see right but in in
- 44:52Star Trek the Next Generation bicard is assimilated he becomes lutus of B he
- 44:57becomes a Bor and they get him back and they get all the implants out and you
- 45:01think he's back to normal turns out not so much and it answers a weird thing that I
- 45:06never considered because I've watched these and I just accepted it but like in
- 45:10like first Contact he says he can still
- 45:12hear the Bor mhm oh right yeah why yeah
- 45:17yeah yeah now you know oh okay yeah I
- 45:20was like ah huh neat okay yeah that was I guess that was a loose thread that I
- 45:26never even thought of cuz I just accepted it and back then I don't think
- 45:29they used to worry so much about they just made [ __ ] back then didn't they
- 45:34they didn't worry about anything interconnecting as much as they do I
- 45:37don't know if they ever intended to go anywhere with that or if it was meant to
- 45:40be like metaphorical but there is literally I CU I went back and looked at
- 45:42Clips there there and I remember it from first Contact where he says when they're
- 45:46nearby he says I can I can like hear them like in my Consciousness kind of
- 45:51thing and it's like oh yeah well makes sense now okay
- 45:57interesting no it's it's really good yeah you should watch it then you really
- 46:01should you skip the rest I kind of want to now yeah but the first four episodes
- 46:07of it just were my favorite just because I was not expecting it at all and then
- 46:13and then there was like a bit of a dip that had me worried but then it I was
- 46:17like you know what but should I watch season two or not no you can skip it not
- 46:22unless you not unless you have I'm going to watch I'm going to I'm going I'll
- 46:25watch a recap somebody must have done honestly season 2 is awful except for
- 46:31still in that red dress see I'm not that was that didn't sway me at all it was
- 46:36just so awful it swayed me I got to look at Ellis and
- 46:43pill and Jerry Ryan's in it you know if you if that's all you're after Jerry
- 46:47Ryan's hot seven of nine oh yeah it's a nice red I she's in three as
- 46:53well oh I mean this is a spoiler but I'll be vague we're not getting that
- 46:59TV series I was mentioning Luke thank you for not saying
- 47:04anything we're not getting that spin-off that I was hoping for oh somebody's dead
- 47:09the continued Adventures of somebody sorry if that spoils something
- 47:15anything for anybody I didn't want to ruin anything for you
- 47:20yeah I mean it still might happen just it' be also it just be yeah yeah yeah oh
- 47:27do you know what someone else pointed this out too right and
- 47:31this this is very funny there there are a number of things in season 3 Bard
- 47:35where they kind of give a middle finger to the previous
- 47:38Seasons as a sequence at the end okay I'll try not to be spoilery where a
- 47:43bunch of ships get destroyed Starfleet
- 47:46ships one of them is the ship that uh what's that [ __ ] that uh character
- 47:53from the ninja character from seasons 1 and two oh
- 47:57name um card ninja the he's a rulan isn't he yeah
- 48:04he's a Romulan what's his name yeah elnor elnor that's the ship elnor was on
- 48:11there's literally a scene where they're in the elevator and and he's like oh
- 48:14[ __ ] the is it the excelsia the excelsia has been destroyed and it's
- 48:17like that's the ship elnor was on just to pick that one to
- 48:23mention good stuff so yeah that's all I have to say oh I'll
- 48:29say one more thing the fact that they slowly introduced the cast and they
- 48:36didn't just shove them all together at the beginning and go well looks like
- 48:40we'll have to engage and then they go off in this adventure like that would have been
- 48:44dumb they are organically brought into the story yep and some some of it's a
- 48:50bit convenient but like yeah it's good it was just it was fun to have them all
- 48:55back yeah those last two it's like yeah all
- 49:01right [ __ ] it let's go this is a bit contrived but bit on the nose but you're
- 49:06all this if you familiar with Battlestar
- 49:11Galactica cu the showrunner for this is you'll know you'll know what I mean
- 49:18you'll know what I mean all right all right what else well let's
- 49:23finish up let's we've got one more bit of news for Star Trek oh oh
- 49:27yeah is this news is it news is this a real thing or is this someone asking hey
- 49:34would you like to come back to it and Shatner going yeah yeah William Shatner
- 49:37says he's up for up for more if if feasible I don't
- 49:43think Kirk is dead let's be clear yeah I don't Kirk died in St generation but
- 49:49Kirk's not dead because William Shatner didn't want to do anymore and now so
- 49:54they killed him off and now they're saying yeah oh he does want to do I
- 49:58think that probably maybe that may well have been a condition of him doing it he
- 50:01said fine but kill me off I'm done I think stage he was I think back then he
- 50:05may have been a little over it and just like that more didn't Harrison Ford say
- 50:09that for Star Wars he said I'll come back as long as hans's [ __ ] dead yeah
- 50:14I want this to be done that way you can't ask me to come back anymore and I
- 50:17think at the time I think he would have been happy for this to be over for him
- 50:21and yet Harrison did one more after that yeah that's true he did he showed up for
- 50:25uh for the last one but Shatner says and this is interesting
- 50:29B because of some of the other stuff we said earlier Shatner seems to be down for being
- 50:35deaged to do it or to voice some other
- 50:40to do the voice and then have some other you know computer generated thing
- 50:45involved because here's an interesting one like a
- 50:5093 like he's even so like we've got Captain Kirk's brain Frozen here there's
- 50:56a scenario let's see if we can bring him back a little a little bit of this a
- 50:59little salt little pepper oh look here comes Captain Kirk so like bring back a
- 51:03young version of him that's true they do that I mean that's a side thing that's a
- 51:07little throwaway thing but they do have Kirk's body that's in season 3 of Bard
- 51:10they mentioned it yeah they retrieved it so it is possible
- 51:16that hey let's bring him back I'm in
- 51:19let's do it I mean I'll watch it yeah it
- 51:24just
- 51:28yeah I don't know man if it's like Discovery I'm probably not going to
- 51:33watch it no that's not true Discovery I'll watch it I'll watch it if it's got
- 51:36shut oh on that note literally the night that I finished the last episode of
- 51:41Picard I I I like it ended and I was
- 51:44just like wow like is Star Trek good now
- 51:49so give me more you can't go from Bard to train true worlds they are different
- 51:54I did I did and that was a mistake and it was not fair of me to do that and
- 51:58I've since I've since put episode two on and I'm like okay no no no I was
- 52:04completely wrong frame of mind yes it's not the same kind of show it's cuz
- 52:10Discovery it's way more lighthearted cuz it's it's more into discover cuz it it's
- 52:14a spin from Discovery but Discovery I think went stupid where strali World
- 52:20Went is trying to capture like the original series like just
- 52:24stand every episode's a different thing and it's more it's light on and yeah the
- 52:30tone is completely different the way that Pike behaves was VE clashes so much
- 52:36with what Picard season 3 was that I was like I was like oh no I'm I [ __ ] up I
- 52:40[ __ ] up this is not more of that same thing this is something different yeah
- 52:45it is something different but I think it's something different in a good way
- 52:49yeah yeah like I said start I've given another shot and I'm like no no no I
- 52:52it's not that I don't like it it's just that it wasn't what I was looking for
- 52:56yeah that time yeah I should have just sat there in the dark and thought about
- 52:59what I'd seen yeah yeah but yeah I'm H I'm happy I'm happy
- 53:05you have gone back to it and I think you will enjoy it it does get better and I
- 53:09think they've just finished filming season 3
- 53:14okay yeah because the characters in strange new
- 53:18worlds talk like modern people which is very
- 53:23off-putting when it's Star Trek but only because I'm used
- 53:27to Star Trek from from the '90s or ' 80s and 90s where where they're all very
- 53:32it's all very like it's it's all like pseudo military
- 53:37in a way they're all very professionals they're Professionals in space they're
- 53:41not Professionals in space and strangely worlds they're normal people in space
- 53:44yes goofing around making mistakes and it's it's way more light-hearted yeah
- 53:49yes yeah it's it's just a bit more fun yes and I just yeah had to had to
- 53:56kind kind of bring myself around to that yeah which if you actually look at it's
- 54:01a little bit like next generation was a bit they were more a little bit serious
- 54:05but it was also fun back then as well whereas Bard was very serious yeah oh
- 54:11yeah the first season of Bard bicard Picard yes
- 54:16um [ __ ] huous the second season I
- 54:21can't less swearing in season 3 of Bard oh well that's disappointing
- 54:26some but less okay and also a little I guess anachronistic
- 54:32language CU they do call they Stu say like I think it calls
- 54:37sha like a [ __ ] or something like that at one point and it's like ah
- 54:42whatever you wouldn't have said that
- 54:46ow maybe Luke would have sorry it's being attacked by a cat he's abusing an
- 54:52animal I was being abused Al the innocent party here we've got some abuse
- 54:59news but that's for the Afterparty before we move into the Afterparty
- 55:02though I did want to I want to get Luke's opinion on the big dump that
- 55:06Microsoft took on a bunch of game studios this week did you see this I
- 55:12actually wasn't a big fan of this game Studio to begin with so you thought [ __ ]
- 55:19the employees wait which game Studio they've shut down a bunch of them this
- 55:22week um Arcane Arcane okay
- 55:27they made prey what are you talking about hold on were they the ones that made
- 55:32Dishonored no oh the the so the the I
- 55:37download dished the studio that made Dishonored is Arcane but a different you
- 55:42know they've in different cities yeah the one that made Dishonored is still
- 55:46there the one that got shut down is the one that made redfall which I don't care
- 55:50about they also made uh is this was the Austin team made redfall and then they
- 55:55also made prey which was a [ __ ] excellent game did you finish it I did
- 56:02actually okay yeah that's how it was I tried to play it a few times and could
- 56:06just not not get into it no that was excellent um I thought it was Dishonored
- 56:11cuz I've not a fan of Dison series I don't know there's something about it I
- 56:14just could not get into it is it's the same Studio but it's different different
- 56:18office um and then they also got rid of people made highi rush or was that the
- 56:24same shudio no no Tango different studio with The Evil Within
- 56:28they did they shut down Alpha Dog they shut down roundhouse
- 56:32Studios look it's not good I know it's not good but this is actually the world
- 56:39in games at the moment unfortunately it's not a Microsoft thing I know but
- 56:44they so they've come out and they they've said as a as kind of a followup
- 56:49to it they said yeah we uh we did buy these Studios but we just can't afford
- 56:52to keep them all open like why' you buy them then buy them yeah well stop buying
- 56:57them they were weren't buying them for these ones no I I know yeah that's yeah
- 57:04and I know there's I have been seeing an article about there that evidently an XB
- 57:07B just come out and going we need to make more smaller games and people going
- 57:11but you just got rid of like the people made highi Rush HiFi Rush was not a small
- 57:17game it was actually still quite a big game big deal it was still like a 10hour
- 57:23game and I think what they're saying when we need smaller games these more sort of 4 Hour
- 57:28story maybe yeah right okay like a smaller game is something you can sit
- 57:33down and finish in 4 hours type of thing yeah that type of thing maybe look I
- 57:38look it looks bad they just went out and purchased all these and then they're
- 57:42getting rid of but the game shudio which makes no sense to me at the
- 57:47moment it's happening across the board they're shutting down left and right
- 57:50yeah I know I know or even though that they're all making billions of dollars
- 57:54and they're all setting record profit but they shut down across the board so I
- 57:58don't think it's a Microsoft thing I think it's a problem with the industry as a
- 58:03whole got too big for its boots like the industry is making a fortune but they
- 58:09can't afford to keep any anyone open doesn't make any sense to me yeah he's a
- 58:14bit odd I suppose but we wait see but yeah like I
- 58:19pray I didn't mind but I never finished couldn't get into high five Rush was
- 58:24fine Evil Within I don't know how that got a sequel to be
- 58:29honest cuz the first one was terrible all these people online being like oh
- 58:33these poor game developers and looks like yeah but what did they make what
- 58:36have they done for me lately well no the reason why I'm not these poor game
- 58:40developers is is cuz I looked into becoming a game developer yeah it was
- 58:46actually a very nearly something I did and the reason why I didn't get into it
- 58:50is it's such a volatile industry yeah that's true and it's a choice that people make and
- 58:56you always got to have that resume resume up to date no [ __ ] him but it's
- 59:01like kind of like uh the way on Films you you form a company to make a film
- 59:07this is how AAA Studios work now is you form a company to make a film and then
- 59:10if you're lucky they'll hire you again for the next one yeah but but if not
- 59:14you're [ __ ] yeah yeah you're gone G studos are quite like that these days
- 59:20more more and more so it seems like um the thing that I hate about it
- 59:26is is the live service games seems to be the direction a lot of shiters want to
- 59:30take whereas you have this investment at the start and then you just keep working
- 59:34on that game forever which it works in a small a
- 59:41couple of games like I don't know Hill divers 2 have you heard about that yeah
- 59:45I have yeah like that's a game like so that Sony D tried to
- 59:52destroy I don't think they meant to they they forced everybody to create a PSN
- 59:55account out to play it and everyone was like [ __ ] you [ __ ] well well the
- 59:58problem is is um it me in 177 countries they couldn't create a PSN account so
- 1:00:05they couldn't play play the game anymore yeah that was pretty stupid they rolled
- 1:00:08it back but damage they back but damage is done but that's but that's the type of
- 1:00:13game shio see game like that working like this live service where there's
- 1:00:18constantly stuff happening and they everyone wants that but you can only
- 1:00:21have so many games like that but then why is it something like look at Bal
- 1:00:26Gate 3 please look at Boulders Gate 3 look how [ __ ] successful that was it
- 1:00:30won all the awards it made a fortune like you can make single player
- 1:00:36experiences it just it's just a game you make the game we pay for the game we
- 1:00:39play the game you pay the game you make your money back you go away yes make a
- 1:00:44good product and then people will pay you for it and then you don't to [ __ ]
- 1:00:48around and try and charge him for extra stuff here and there like they're not
- 1:00:52doing any of that stuff alen wake 2 still hasn't made its money back
- 1:00:56yeah remedy have pulled they've cancelled development on what was going
- 1:01:02to be their next game to focus on existing franchises so they're doing
- 1:01:08they're doing the max pain remakes which they said they were going to do anyway
- 1:01:12they're doing a sequel to control but then they're also doing a a a control
- 1:01:17spin-off which is a multiplayer version of control oh well I
- 1:01:22don't know how I feel about which is the one thing we don't want yeah but also I
- 1:01:27don't know I've tried twice to play control and I've not finished it I weird
- 1:01:32about it that just I don't know controll is you need to if to play control cuz I
- 1:01:39know what you're talking about cuz I struggled to play through it the first
- 1:01:41time I sat down the second you need need to sit down and spend the 10 hours and
- 1:01:46play it you can't yeah you have to start to end because it is a very strange game
- 1:01:52and the second you stop playing and you come back to a week later you go I have
- 1:01:56no idea what I was doing yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah the concept is great it's
- 1:02:02great I just don't yeah and that's why control two I think will be a bit more
- 1:02:08will be a bit easier in that regard yeah yeah control to to control
- 1:02:13will likely be what Alan Wake 2 is to Alan Wake yes speaking of I'm I am
- 1:02:18progressing through Alan Wake it's longer than I thought the first one it
- 1:02:23ends you think it's going to end and then it keep keep going are you playing
- 1:02:27the first one or the second one the first one the first one first one yeah
- 1:02:29um I just got past the bit where you go to the farm with the
- 1:02:33two the old yeah the of Odin yes exactly
- 1:02:37and then you end up in prison and I'm literally in the
- 1:02:42prison and and and with night yes
- 1:02:46exactly right so um I I'm assuming there's only a chapter or two to go there must
- 1:02:52be so yeah you're getting there you getting there it just keeps getting
- 1:02:57better and better that um that sequence com tedious though I've got to say yeah
- 1:03:03correct yeah yeah they they learned from that for number two I mean it's the same
- 1:03:08this I'm enoy until I'm not and then I'm like come on yeah that's what like the second one
- 1:03:15there it's not there you can actually just run past some stes you to certain
- 1:03:21areas very few mostly you just have to stand there and fight until everyone
- 1:03:26goes away and then you can progress yeah yeah but yeah you're towards the end
- 1:03:30yeah I did shoot a tractor with a flag and that was pretty cool nice nice blew
- 1:03:35up well disintegrated I guess more accurately
- 1:03:40but you know what we should probably do about now what's that we should head
- 1:03:45over to the Afterparty the [ __ ] is the Afterparty Luke you keep talking about
