  It seems Iranians are somewhat thinking about negotiating.

  The Israelis continue shelling Hezbollah.

  Great, keep doing it.

  Obviously, you don't see the Iranians saying, I'm the leader, because typically they pop their heads up and like whack them all, the Israelis take him out.

  It's an interesting way that we're doing war right now.

  We are decapitating people.

  Typically, war has always been done troop on troop.

  Now war has changed where it's asymmetrical, drones, proxies.

  It's um you could kind of say there's a bit of a total war going on.

  I would call this a sneaky way to do war.

  Um the whole drone warfare thing, it it's it's really fascinating.

  Uh, what's gone on, obviously in Ukraine, the Chinese have been watching, the Russians have been learning, the Iranians have been supplying drones.

  So the Iranians obviously have a large cachet of missiles and drones.

  They keep firing off at US assets, the United States has this incredible military that can strike seemingly anywhere at any time, block the Strait of Hormuz, take on the Chinese in the South China Sea, etc.

  However, what's there's a fascinating thing going on though, right now.

  We learn that the entire Ukrainian um impeach of Donald Trump was a hoax.

  We learn about former Congressman Eric Stalwall, huge critic of Donald Trump, big proponent of the Russia hoax, like uh it pains me to say it's Senator Adam Schiff, the stupid people of California put them there, complete liars, fabricators, uh Eric Stahlwall on his second marriage, seemingly has cheated on his wife, uh has been accused of raping women, sexually uh molesting them.

  Uh, of course, if you go look at his social media history, you know, believe women, me too, Donald Trump's a horrible person, Republicans are the antichrist, etc., etc., etc.

  So it's usually you kind of see the Democratic Party doing this thing where they just take people out.

  Joe Biden's a we can't have Joe Biden winning, so let's we get rid of him, put in the unvetted, never won a single vote, Kamala Harris.

  He's gone, and we'll go with just someone who seemingly is pretty vicious and awful to her staff.

  Um do a pretty big pause here because Victor Davis Hansen.

  I think he's arguably probably the most sage, intelligent, wise, even handed, factual, uh man or woman going right now when it comes to commenting on being an um pundit and the expert commentator, full disclosure.

  Uh I studied under him in graduate school.

  It was one of the hardest, most exhilarating, certainly academic things I've ever done in my life.

  The man did his PhD in Latin.

  It was 8 a.m.

  I think it was one day a week.

  And I mean, when the moment he walked in the room, you better be ready to go.

  Brilliant man connected, has traveled the world, classicist, been a professor.

  Certainly has written what I would say is the best book on World War II you'll ever read.

  Uh, gives the probably the most judicious understanding of Roosevelt outside of a book called FDR's Folly.

  It talks about what Roosevelt did well, but what he did that truly got a lot of Americans killed.

  Um his policies.
• 5:28
  So you're talking about somebody he's written the book, The Case for Trump.

  When you think about uh Dr.

  Victor Davis Hansen, you're talking about someone who has an unbelievable breadth of knowledge.

  And you're hard, I would be hard pressed to find somebody smarter than him.

  About the only person I've ever seen that has the depth of intelligence he does is Vaklab Smill, professor out of Canada.

  He's Bill Gates' favorite author.

  Wrote what I consider the Bible of energy called Energy and Civilization.

  Highly recommend the book.

  Uh for organization called the Daily Signal.

  He's been connected with the Hoover Institute at Stanford for years, and he'll do interviews with them.

  Hanson, he's been on Tucker Carlson, Megan Kelly, Fox News.

  I would assume at some point he's probably been on the more left, you know, the left-wing channels of uh CNN.

  Don't know if he's ever been on the MSNBC.

  I don't think he's ever been on MSNow.

  I think Dr.

  Hansen has 25 books.

  Uh, has written extensively on the Peloponnesian Wars, which is kind of how modern international relations and foreign policy, but particularly on national relations.

  That's kind of the framework for how you look at how countries behave with one another, how you interact with one another, how you can think about military strategy, you can throw Klauswitz in there, Sun Tzu.

  But you're you're talking about a man with just a knowledge base that's that's really uncanny, and frankly, probably unmatched.

  So he put out a video where he talked about the the interviewer asked him, and this is where I want to talk about real politics today.

  Want to give the setup in the context, but and let's remember the Iran war.

  People are going crazy.

  Why is Donald Trump doing this?

  He's going against MAGA, he's going against forever wars, Democrats hate him, they're gonna hate him about everything.

  And Republicans are gonna stay away.

  We've seen this from Republicans before, we've seen this from Christians before.

  They get mad and like little children, they take their toys and you know, go home.

  When you think about real politics, real politics, real politics, the politics of reality.

  Coswich said, war is politics by other means.

  I would say now, when you think about the Democratic Party, people always like to say the left.

  I think that takes away the responsibility.

  I say the Democratic Party.

  And someone could counter and go, well, look at Bernie Sanders.

  He's an independent.

  He caucuses with and votes probably nine out of 10 times, if not more, with the Democratic Party.

  So you've this radical part of the Democratic Party.

  So you think about what let me tell you what Dr.

  Hansen said.

  He talked about, he said, people are going crazy that Donald Trump wants to hit infrastructure, bridges, power plants.

  And he gave it in context, and he goes, Well, look what we did to Libya.

  Look what we did in Serbia.

  Look what we did in World War II, Korea, Vietnam.
• 9:31
  Um, these are things that have always happened, but now because of media, social media, phones, you can have everybody can be CBS.

  Uh, everybody can be CNN, everybody can be a war correspondent.

  So, what's fascinating to me about that is imagine if you would have had.

  Phone cameras during World War II.

  Imagine that.

  Imagine if you could have seen what the Nazis were doing, the Russians were doing.

  Imagine what you could have seen is us that the Allies were doing.

  What would it have looked like when we when we literally firebombed with Napalm Tokyo?

  Killed more people in that than we did with the atomic bombs.

  What would have happened?

  Would there have been outrage?
• 10:32
  I had family members who fought there, and I remember being told that they didn't come home for two years, three years.

  They didn't speak to anybody for two and a half years.

  Drove them crazy in many ways.

  So Dr.

  Hansen says, okay, let's just put all this in context.

  Look what we did in Serbia under Bill Clinton.

  Look what look what Barack Obama did in Libya.

  Look what George H.W.

  Bush did in the first Persian Gulf War.

  Look what George W.
• 11:04
  Bush did in the second Gulf War.

  Look what Congress voted for or didn't vote for or kind of voted for in Korea and Vietnam, World War II, World War I.

  Really, what you began to see was this idea of including civilians or what the term is total war in World War II, where everything and everyone was fair game.

  Whether you were a baby in Dresden or a power plant in Tokyo or an elderly person in Russia in Stalingrad, if you were where a battlefield was, or where piece of property or land or strategic location was, it didn't matter who you were.

  We're not talking about just a Holocaust in World War II.

  More civilians were killed by a very large factor than soldiers.

  Look what the Japanese did by making women comfort women, raping them.

  You're doing that as a psychological warfare, torture.

  Okay, you may go, but those are those are acts, those are evil people.

  Well, look what Barack Obama drone drone people killed Americans without due process.

  What we did in Libya, Hillary Clinton, Uncle Obama, Susan Rice.

  Um look at the lies of the Russian collusion and hoax.

  In other words, when you think about these things, and now look what the evil Donald Trump is doing.

  That's not what's going on here.

  And when you think about the MAGA right, you know, make America great again, people who say we want to be isolationist, uh, no more forever wars.

  We don't want Afghanistan, we don't want Iraq, we we don't want our version of Vietnam.

  We don't want any of those things.

  The thing I would ask anybody on that, let's go, let's let's kind of let's talk about that then.

  Does anybody know what we did in Korea?

  Um Ridgway, Matthew Ridgway took over the faltering uh Korean war, killed about two million Chinese in three months or less, a little more.

  Uh two million of them, bombed them into oblivion, pushed them back to the 38th parallel and Truman, which certainly looks wise and sage now.

  Stopped.

  And we've been in a forever state of war since uh the 50s.

  So people that freak out about their Strait of Hormoes, what do you want to do about the DMZ?

  You ever thought about that one?

  Well, we can't stay there.

  You can close down the Strait of Ormooth, the Houthis can go shut down the Red Sea eventually.

  People are going to figure out other ways to get that oil out.

  Maybe the Europeans decide to join, invade Iran, whatever happens, somebody's going to get oil somehow, somehow.

  Maybe the Americans, we decide to go all in.

  The Israelis use a nuclear weapon.

  When it comes to oil, all bets are off.

  That's the energy part of our of our uh real politics today.

  If you would say a title of this, this show today, it would be Victor Davis Hansen and the real politics of life and war.

  That would be today's title.

  And Dr.

  Hanson brought up a wonderful thing.

  He said, okay, so here's all this background context I've given you.

  When you think about, so Tucker Carlson has been very upset about this.

  Meghan Kelly, very upset.

  Um, Candace Owen, very upset.
• 15:33
  Alex Jones, very upset.
• 15:34
  These are all people that have supported Donald Trump.

  And then he says, he goes, well, they have a right to be upset.

  And I'm paraphrasing Dr.

  Hansen, but look where the economy is, look where crime levels are lower, deportations are in over a million people.

  Um all sorts of of yeah, crime and uh inflation has been lower up into this point.

  The economy has been growing.

  You're starting to see we can do this because you have oil and natural gas, like never before.

  There's possibly nuclear power plants are going to be built.

  Uh, he took on DEIs, taking on the crazy universities these days.

  There's someone that was just in grad school 10 years ago, Pepperdine was conservative, had a Christian bent to it, but I took on a crazy professor one time.

  Uh, a guy like I I wrote something because I knew that's what he wanted to see, because I'd written something before and he deeply criticized it.

  And and I like the professor.
• 16:38
  And um, but he I knew how to play the game.
• 16:43
  But here's the fascinating part.

  And Dr.
• 16:46
  Hansen makes a great point about all this.

  We saw back during the Tea Party movement.

  I remember there was a congressional race or Senate race, like in Connecticut or New Hampshire.

  And the person who was, there was a Republican who could have won.

  Except he was pretty liberal on the social issues.

  Pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage.
• 17:10
  I'm not for either one, but at least he was amenable to talking about it.

  Wasn't didn't seem that he was going to do infanticide, which is truly the killing of a child outside of the womb.

  Um it's a I don't even want to describe it.
• 17:25
  It's so horrific what infanticide is.

  And he was rock solid on economic issues, foreign policy, national security.

  A conservative Republican guy wanted to pay down the debt, the deficit, and Tea Party people got mad.

  We want 100% purity.

  Something called the Studio City Neighborhood Council, the local city, city council, advisory role to the elected council member for all of Los Angeles for their district.

  Then I was um I ran, was asked to run by the California State Republican Party for uh the local state assembly seat against a man named Mike Gaddo.

  Mike killed me.
• 18:19
  Killed me by 30 points.
• 18:21
  I didn't have any money, and but everywhere I campaigned, I won.
• 18:24
  And I actually won my city.
• 18:26
  I was in La Cañada, which has turned deeply blue, crazy people.

  I think I'm the last Republican to win there.
• 18:32
  I win in 20 that part.
• 18:34
  He beats me everywhere else.
• 18:37
  But here's what I learned.

  Um met a lot of Republicans, which were this kind of ideological purity.

  Um they didn't like the way I looked, they didn't like this, they didn't like that.

  Um people would go, my God, you're one of the best, you're the best speaker we've ever seen.

  You're the issues, you understand things, you understand crime, you understand economy, you've got a background in economic development.

  You're even socially conservative.
• 19:05
  You you tell us you're a God-fearing man.
• 19:08
  And I remember people did not like the way I looked.
• 19:12
  They thought I should be older looking.
• 19:14
  And when I ran, I was in my mid-40s.
• 19:18
  And it was a fascinating, it was fascinating to me.

  I then one time was asked to go speak at a conference.
• 19:25
  The election, this is about a year or two after the election, someone had seen me speak.

  They bring me to a conference, fly me to Dallas, Texas, and put me up in a beautiful hotel.

  And I'm one of the featured speakers on energy and give this big big talk and take questions.

  I do it a couple of times, and they say, hey, we'd love to keep here and just you know, go downstairs, have dinner with people.

  I was like, great.
• 19:49
  They gave me a suite.
• 19:50
  I mean, it was it was very kind to these people.

  And I'll never forget um at that point.

  I was working on a book on the electrical grid and this.

  Guy comes up to me, a Republican guy, and starts arguing with me all about the electrical grid.

  He's like, I'm a utility executive, and this is how it works, and you don't know anything.

  And I'm just listening to them, and I kind of start telling them different things about qualifications.

  I'm actually working on a book about the grid right now.
• 20:18
  I'm looking at you know, smart grid systems.
• 20:21
  So I kind of I start labeling things.

  Wasn't gonna hear it.
• 20:24
  He's like, this is how it works.
• 20:26
  And frankly, us utility guys, you know, we don't really listen to somebody unless they're in their 60s.

  It wasn't some ageism or age discrimination.
• 20:36
  It's just they had their minds made up.
• 20:38
  And so Dr.

  Hansen, getting back to him, I again I want to give context.

  He talks about, he says, they get upset because they want President Trump to be this thing.

  You're not supposed to go do this.

  Now maybe Tucker Carlson, Megan Kelly.

  I'm I'm not going to pretend I have any audiences like them.

  I don't, or influence, or power.

  Alex Jones, Candace Owens, these are people with massive platforms.

  They're multimillionaires.
• 21:10
  Um they're reaching hundreds of millions, probably billions of people at this point.

  But Dr.

  Hanson said something interesting, and it's what I felt before.

  So tell me what's better.

  Okay, guys, you hate every Democrat when I ran, but you don't like me.

  I'm the nominee.

  I'm the guy.

  I uh I won the won the primary.

  I think full disclosure, I think I even told the Republican Party, hey man, I'm not gonna run against people.

  So if you want me to do this, you clear the field and I'll prepare for the general election.

  Um had a really bad campaign manager, really nice guy who was a treasurer, but the campaign was poorly run.

  I didn't have enough money.

  I think I even I end up firing my campaign manager like three weeks before the election.

  It's that typical Republican thing where they eat their own.

  And so now you have these people gripping and moaning about President Trump.

  President Trump writes a truth social thing.

  These are low IQ people.

  I would agree with Dr.

  Hansen.

  I don't find Tucker Carlson or Megan Kelly or Candace Owen or Alex Jones to be low IQ people.

  Um I don't agree with the things Alex Jones said about school shootings.

  I think it's disgusting.

  Uh, I certainly don't agree with Candace Owens attacking Charlie Kirk's widow and the anti-Semitism.

  Um I don't agree with how some of the things Tucker has done.

  Megan Kelly likes to cuss a lot.

  I I kind of laugh at the whole thing, I feel like sometimes there's some virtuous things going on with her.

  Yet she took those really hot photos of herself and Maxim years ago, a little bit like the there's a sports commentator for ESPN, kind of did the same thing.

  That's great.

  You're very attractive women.

  Take your photos if you want.

  In Maxim or FHM or whatever magazine, you're you know, bikinis, lingerie, low-cut dresses, knock yourself out.

  Just can we be honest about you made a buck off how beautiful you are?

  Again, fine by me, but let's let's keep it real.

  But what Dr.

  Hansen said is what I would echo as well.

  He said, okay, you agree with him about 85% of the time, but you don't agree with him about this, and you think he shouldn't bomb a you shouldn't bomb a power plant or a bridge, but he goes, we did the exact same thing in Serbia, Libya, World War II, et cetera, et cetera.

  Um we're 40 days into this.

  Every death is awful, but we've hardly lost anybody.

  We haven't lost one ship or aircraft carrier.

  Uh we're we're taking out vile, vicious people.

  The Europeans are just weak, feckless people, and they just want to do nothing but quote unquote live the good life.

  So if something doesn't change, they will be taken over, probably my lifetime.

  I hope it doesn't happen.

  They'll likely be taken over by all the folks they continue to let in.

  Hungry just made the same decision.

  So if you guys want to be taken over by angry men from predominantly, you know, militant, poor starving, pitiful, hungry, Muslim-dominated nations.

  Well, look how that goes for people.

  And if that's what you want, because you're a globalist and you think that your society is going to collapse and it's going to lead to chaos.

  And so you, you know, a Swiss billionaire or Macron or Starmer, your left-wing godless, ridiculous vision of life is, you know, you're going to be worshipped.

  Not going to work that way.

  You don't make a deal with the devil.

  You don't make a Faustian bargain and come out on the other end.

  Doesn't work that way.

  Um, and it would be the same thing that I would say here.

  Whether I read the honor of going on Megan Kelly or Tucker Carlson or, you know, Alex Jones or Candace Owen, the latter two, I'd be a little like, what do you want to talk about?

  I would go, I'd go, here's my own experience.

  So Mike who beat me, this gentleman Mike Gaddo was a fairly somewhat conservative Democrat, understood business, ended up, I think for personal reasons.

  Um, tragically, his father had passed away, ended up leaving politics, but does pretty good job.

  I used to follow him on Twitter.

  Uh, he didn't get back into politics as far as I know, but actually seemed to have a head on his shoulders.

  Wasn't a complete radical Democrat, actually seemed to care about taxes and people having jobs and affordable energy.

  Go look at what go look at what's been elected now.

  Uh it's the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.

  Just look at the person.

  Go drive around there.

  Go to LA and see what you're you're in for.

  I lived in LA, Los Angeles for 26 years.

  Most of Los Angeles, I would tell you, is it's not very safe anymore.

  Just, I mean, go study the downfall of Los Angeles.

  Look at from about 1992 to now.

  Look at who they've elected, look at what they've done, look at their governors, look at their legislature.

  Just man, go to your favorite AI uh platform and just do a search from the last time a Republican was elected president out of California, they voted for until now.

  Homelessness, welfare, immigration, education, housing costs, energy affordability, infrastructure.

  Just look at it.

  It is a downward trajectory.

  It is go look at what the Democratic Party does on immigration.

  They bring these people in because they want to replace you.
