- 1:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And again, we won't have a show, we wouldn't be able to do this without you.
- 1:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you very much for for joining us.
- 1:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh locally, we uh have been battling uh wildfire smoke uh from the Canadian wildfires the last couple days.
- 1:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Today's uh a day that at least thus far, uh while it is scorching hot, uh it doesn't seem uh the air quality index, which they call the AQI for short, um, is uh well below where it has been uh for the last couple of days.
- 2:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So uh still want to have caution, you know, being out not just for you know us humans, but you know, if we have pets, uh the same thing.
- 2:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They have lungs too, and they can get uh just as sick and and ill as uh we we can as humans with with uh with with our lungs and having that uh ash uh smoke coming through.
- 2:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So glad to have that out of the way, at least uh for right now.
- 2:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh was able to get a good workout in, and I just want to give a shout out again uh to Mark McAdams.
- 2:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh he uh he's really been an inspiration.
- 2:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh while he might not know it, um he's been an inspiration, you know, get getting to the gym, working out, being a little bit older, you know, I'm 44, I'm not 24 anymore, and uh you know, seeing the positivity uh that comes from him and his shows.
- 3:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it's uh it it's it's cool.
- 3:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh like in not like, oh yeah, it's cool.
- 3:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like it's cool because we never stop learning, we'll never stop learning.
- 3:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: At least I don't, and Mark doesn't either.
- 3:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, so I just want to give a a shout out to him because of the work he's doing, work he has done.
- 3:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He's helping a lot of people.
- 3:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um yeah, he's helping a ton of people.
- 4:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So go check out uh I believe he's got uh his own YouTube channel, his own podcast.
- 4:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it's uh it just yeah, it's just neat to see positivity.
- 4:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have too much negativity in the world, and and to see and hear him encourage uh is awesome.
- 4:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like I said, it's had a big impact on me trying to stay focused on getting to the gym, working out, believing in myself.
- 4:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's huge.
- 4:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's huge when if you don't have like a like a a lifting partner, you know, uh that that's how it was for me when I was growing up and in the late teens and twenties.
- 5:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh you'd have a lifting partner, so they would spot you, make sure you know you wouldn't drop any weight, uh, keep you safe, you keep them safe.
- 5:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and I don't have that now.
- 5:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm okay with that.
- 5:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um so it just means I have to be that you know extra cautious with what uh what weights I do.
- 5:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I'm just getting started.
- 5:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think this is on like week three.
- 5:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it I've got a long ways to go to uh yeah, just a long ways to go.
- 5:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But yeah, thank you, Mark, uh for all you've done and all you're you're doing, all the people you're helping.
- 6:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, and and that includes me, uh keeping me motivated here.
- 6:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like I said, even though it's at the outset, it doesn't matter, it it's still getting out getting to the gym, working out, being uh focused on working out, you know, don't spend too much time, you know, be there, have a workout plan, at least in your mind.
- 6:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you want to write it down, you can do that.
- 6:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I start doing that, and then that stops, and then it just kind of goes in my head.
- 6:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that's also why it helps to have somebody like Mark uh talk about different muscle groups and uh and just all the different ways you can get exercise and and uh work work those muscles out.
- 7:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um so I wanted to spend a couple minutes here at the the outset of the this uh particular episode because again, there's a lot of negativity out there, and to have a person that there's a lot of people, but this is you know personally some of it then it's something in someone who's affecting positive change for me, and maybe I'm having some of that change, positivity for uh if you're watching or listening, and again, you know, the the whole the whole terminology of like we're all in this together, like that's okay, that's that's what how people want to let they'll talk.
- 8:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, nothing wrong with that.
- 8:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um we're all in this together until we're not, and that that's kind of where I find myself uh at the gym and and that.
- 8:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um so yeah, whatever the thing is for you, watch.
- 8:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, there's so many different people that have their their shows, and they're showing how they they do things.
- 8:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some of it's for us, and some of it's like like, oh, that person's that's too much, or I don't like those exercises they're doing.
- 8:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So let me find something, and that's the whole deal is find what works for you.
- 9:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Don't find what works for other people now.
- 9:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If what works for another person that you come across and that works for you, all the better.
- 9:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and there will be you know bits and pieces that you'll pick up, might not be like every single thing A through Z.
- 9:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It might just be you know one thing here, one thing there, and that's okay.
- 9:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's no rule about you can only listen to one person, uh and you so he uh yeah, and so that's helped me mentally as well.
- 9:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh not to say that well, all the other things are helping me mentally as well, that that I've talked about, you know, from the therapy to the inpatient that I had for five days in 2017, uh to medication, you know, you name it, those have a huge impact on a day-to-day basis.
- 10:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so we don't want to we don't want to overlook that because it can kind of get easy to do that if we're like if we're doing something that really feels good and we're doing it on a semi-often basis, like working out the gym, if we're able to, it can eat it can be an easy thing to feel like, oh, I don't need to take my medication anymore because I I feel fine because I'm going to the gym, I'm doing a workout, and I feel better, so I don't need to take it.
- 10:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's not the case.
- 11:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like a bonus level or a bonus thing going to the gym.
- 11:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, wow, that may help people uh not have to be on medication.
- 11:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm I'm giving my my testimony, you know, with our ministry, Voices for Voices, that it can be an easy thing for me to just stop, like, all right, yeah, I've been working out for three weeks.
- 11:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's 52 weeks in the year.
- 11:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Okay, I've been working out for three.
- 11:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So how do I know that the rest of the weeks of the year I'm gonna have those same uplifting positive feelings?
- 12:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't, and that's why we just continue that regimen, you know, with the whatever that may be for you.
- 12:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, I share what it is for me, and then just working at the gym, again, it's just a bonus of helping our body be in a positive mind mindset for a little bit longer, maybe.
- 12:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know.
- 12:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, I'm sure there's all kinds of research and all kinds of shows and books and um all these different things that can can tell us, well, if you do this, then you don't need that.
- 12:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I'm not one of those people.
- 12:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not saying don't read the books.
- 12:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: All I'm saying is when you're dealing with the brain and you know, chemicals inside our mind, inside our body, you gotta be very, very careful not to not to think that you know it all because I thought I knew it all, and I was very, very, very, very mistaken.
- 13:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I thought I knew it all, thought I could handle it, and that was not the case.
- 13:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're all unique individuals.
- 13:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So, like I said, you gotta find what works for you.
- 13:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I just look at the working out as a bonus.
- 13:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So, like I said, if I lift one pound ten times in a certain exercise, great.
- 14:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's one thing that I didn't do yesterday and I didn't do for the last oh geez at least 14 years.
- 14:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I'm trying to I'm trying to be just a little bit smarter in how I approach my recovery.
- 14:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Not putting all you know, there's a terminology of you know, not putting all your eggs in one basket.
- 14:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that would be like you have a basket and you have a bunch of eggs, and you put them all in the same basket.
- 14:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And let's say it's the it's the gym basket.
- 14:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like I'm putting everything into the gym basket.
- 14:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not putting anything into the medication, to the therapy, to the coping mechanisms, none of that.
- 15:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's where again, I'm not a doctor, but I know from my experience, not just with mental health, but so many other things that we just we don't want to put everything in one specific area.
- 15:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's okay.
- 15:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I have the things that I were doing that I was doing before I started working out at the gym, just a shorter time.
- 15:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like I said, I just started the gym a short time ago, and so I have some eggs in the medication basket, some eggs in the therapy basket, some eggs in you know, the coping mechanisms, like how to handle situations the best that I can.
- 16:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I have a few eggs in there, and now I have probably one egg in the in the working out in the gym basket.
- 16:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: See how it's diversified, it's not just one specific area, one specific thing.
- 16:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um my diet, I I I try to work work on that, and so it's another thing, you know, working on our our our diet.
- 16:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Not even a diet, working on what we're eating, just I don't like that word diet because it sounds like we're restricting, and I don't like that.
- 16:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and so there's there's a particular cereal that has certain minerals and and that that I took took that that I ate many years ago, and then I started to get all bent out of shape about how much things cost.
- 17:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because as I've mentioned on other shows, I worked at companies where you come in one day and then you are you are fired, you're let go, you don't have that job anymore.
- 17:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So the first time I went through that process, that was probably the first trauma, work-related trauma that I went through.
- 17:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um, I wasn't let go in the structural restructuring, other people were, but it was the first time in the work structure that I realized wow, there's people being walked out of the building.
- 18:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They've been working here for 20, 25, 30 years, and so then I restricted a lot of things, so I stopped spending money on the gym, which was not a good idea, uh, because it's helpful.
- 18:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um I stopped, so that included, you know, uh not purchasing protein bars, not um get protein shakes at the at the gym, after workout, uh the cereal I was eating, I was like changing all that up so that all those constructs were were changing.
- 18:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And now I am trying to get back to this spot of all right, this is like, and I think the serial not given we're not sponsored by them, so I'm not gonna give them the credit uh on the show yet, but in the name is uh I think something power it and so it it gets me in the zone like I was when I was younger, as much as I can when I'm 44 now.
- 19:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so when I eat that cereal in the morning, and then I get ready to go, I'm ready to go to work out, I'm ready, I'm ready to get things done, ready to to do it.
- 20:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so things have kind of come a little bit full circle in that respect.
- 20:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I might not always do that, but I know it is like the gym is like especially because it's close, we as humans, we like convenience, right?
- 20:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We like going to one place and get in as many things as we can.
- 20:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so some of that has to deal with how close we live to a particular grocery store, herb market.
- 20:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so because we're we're the place that I I I go to work out at is close, it makes the feeling of not wanting to go sometimes less.
- 21:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So there's less of a feeling of oh, I don't want to go today, I'm sore, and that and there are days like that, and I do take days off till into my workout schedule plan, whatever you want to call it.
- 21:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But when you have some a place that's close, where it's like, all right, it takes five minutes if that to get go.
- 21:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Then it's then that's where the mental part comes in, right?
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, well, I don't want to go.
- 22:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't have to go.
- 22:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No, nobody's forced me to go.
- 22:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Nobody.
- 22:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's no contractual.
- 22:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, right?
- 22:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You got to pay your fees like for going.
- 22:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But as far as you know, I have to go today.
- 22:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I have to go tomorrow, or whatever the time frame is, nobody's telling me like you have to do it today.
- 22:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or you have to do it tomorrow.
- 22:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then there's the times where you're traveling.
- 22:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And there might not be a I'll say like a full service gym where you have the free weights, you have the cables, you have um the machines.
- 23:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You name it.
- 23:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so have a basket if you're able to for the gym.
- 23:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And put an egg in there, proverbial egg.
- 23:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you don't like to eat eggs, this has nothing to do with eating.
- 23:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This is just this is a hypothetical here.
- 23:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, like I'm a I'm a visual learner.
- 23:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that's how I think.
- 23:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, okay, there's these baskets, and then there's things.
- 23:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So if it's baseballs, if it's softballs, if it's whatever it is, look at seeing if you're you're able to put whatever that is.
- 24:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: For me, I'm I'm using eggs in my example.
- 24:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm putting an I'm starting to put an egg in into that gym working out bucket or basket.
- 24:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Could be a bucket too.
- 24:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But don't don't try not to neglect the other buckets or the other baskets or the other hats, what whatever your you know helps helps you visualize it.
- 24:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Just as a financial planner or a money manager will tell you, you know, you don't want all your money and one investment because if that one investment goes down to zero, well, you have zero.
- 25:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whereas if you have three, four, or five different investments, some are gonna be up at times, some are gonna be down at times.
- 25:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that's the thing.
- 25:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Sometimes that for me, the basket with the eggs with the gym is gonna be fuller than others, and other times the gym basket with the gym eggs is gonna be lower than other, like less eggs than others, and all of this is to help us all, not just me, not just you, but everybody in the world.
- 25:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Help us feel better, help us be more confident.
- 26:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I know I need it, I know I need more confidence.
- 26:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's why again, I'm I'm constantly learning and watching seeing what works for me or seeing what doesn't work for me and go, eh, I don't like that.
- 26:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That doesn't work for me.
- 26:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Let me try to find something that is similar, does kind of the same thing, and then you always want to rotate things.
- 26:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you for joining us on this episode of the show.
- 26:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you can give us a thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, reshare, repost.
- 26:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you're watching on your phone or listening on your phone, if you can pull up 25, 50, 100 of your contacts, connections, and share the voices for voices, podcasts, and TV show, would greatly appreciate that.
- 27:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um you can find us as well as your contacts and connections can find us wherever you or they get their podcasts, and we are well on our way to reaching and helping at least three billion people over the course of my lifetime and beyond.
- 27:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's because of you, because you have demanded more episodes, have demanded more content, and so country by country, we're adding with our analytics, city by city, province by province, state by state, territory by territory, whatever the breakdown is, we're continuing to add with each additional episode.
- 28:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And from the bottom of my heart, and everybody at Voices for Voices, thank you.
- 28:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I knew I always wanted to make a difference and help people, and I didn't know how I was going to be able to do that, and because of you, you've helped shine the light for me, for voices for voices, and mythical creatures around the world.
- 28:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So until next time, please let's celebrate all the voices of the world and let's be a voice for not only ourselves, but uh maybe another person who isn't able to share their voice.
- 29:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And we'll see you on our next episode and hope you have a great day.
- 29:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If it's warm, really warm, where you're at, try to stay cool.
- 29:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If it's really cold where you're at, try to stay warm, and we'll see you next time.
- 29:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Goodbye for now.
