- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Eight, one, eight, six, four, three, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two, seven, two,
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, any, any feel about fall camp, or as our friend.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, so much body would say it's summer camp, which we all know is not true because summer camp is where you send a packet.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: Not a football or literally any kid.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I mean, fall camp is always, I mean, it's exciting because the season's almost here.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: But fall camp and spring camp have kind of
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: For me, taking on maybe because I've just seen how the sausage gets made too much now.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: They just, they feel quite irrelevant in a lot of ways.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like I feel like fall camp in spring camp or just built to
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: build up expectations of things that probably aren't going to be true.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: So I take everything that we hear from camp with the grain of salt.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think the most useful thing that we can learn from fall camp is literally hints at what the depth chart's going to be.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, hints, okay, who is what running with the ones?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: Who is running with the twos?
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: Anything else besides that?
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Anything about, you know,
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the defensive line looks so good.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they might look good because the offensive line's bad.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the offensive line's so bad.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they might have a perpetual question.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't it every single fall camp?
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's a zero sum game.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, man, the receivers are dominant.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe the DBs are bad.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, it's a zero sum game.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: You can't really know what the team is made of until they're facing other opposition.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that like the facts that we can glean,
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: from the from the from camp and from the things we learn from camp like those are the only valuable things just that like the hard facts of like this player is in line to play and this player is not this player is yeah running with the ones are competing with the twos or whatever especially when you look at it and this is a world in which the practices not open to the media as it used to be right so like there were
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: Days, there were camps years ago where you would go to every single practice, fall camps, spring camp, practice during the season, and you would do a podcast on Patreon.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Forty-five minutes talking about the daily updates from that practice and go into excruciating detail, right?
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would chart every pass that every quarterback through and the results of it and like what the, you know, I would be taking notes of like formations and you know, where everybody was playing and who, who won each rep at the goal line.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: You wouldn't share strategic things.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, but like, you know, like making notes of like,
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: which players were out there in different drills like seven on seven or when they were running like full team drills like you start to see okay when they're running with the receivers like these are the three that are that are going out there when they're running with two receivers like these are the two that are out there or whatever
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: But also just like, you know, X receiver beat X corner back on a slant route at the goal line in the goal line period, like, you know, just every single one of those we got every detail and now.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: you know we don't get those details and the people who do see what limited stuff that they see are very restricted and what they can even say about what they're seeing out there so our knowledge of what's going on in camp is so much more limited that you know it's it's it's tough to say uh... what is true and what isn't most of what we get is
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: Post-practice scrums with coaches and players, which certainly have their value.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can get some really good nuggets from those, but I will say that the vast majority of the answers that you'll get from a coach or from a player can be led by the question, not necessarily on purpose, not nefariously or anything like that, but like if you go to a player and ask, well, what do you think of Joe Schmo?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: chances are they're going to say something nice about joshmo like you're going to get a joshmo is doing so good but like does that actually mean anything no so what I always say when when you're looking at fall camp coverage pay attention to who is brought up without having been asked about them yeah like who do players or coaches highlight
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: out of the blue without prompting.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the players, those are the people that I think those observations have so much more meaning to them.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, it's just like, you know, who the heck knows?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that's sort of my take my overarching take on on fall campus.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Just be careful, be careful how tied to things that come out of fall camp you end up being because they're all through a lens of something.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: And like you said, unprompted shout outs, call outs about players.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think are the most telling things.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Especially, we were talking about at media day, right?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Looking at the media day transcripts, instances where our coach would be asked about one player and then brings up another player while talking about that one player.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's something that you're going to want to put a lot of weight on.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: So let's get into the news here.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get into the news.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: Just outside of camp and then we'll get more into the actual camp news.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: The coaches poll is out.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: The coach's poll always comes out at the beginning of August.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: The AP poll comes out about a week or two before the games actually start.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: SC is unranked.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: They have a hundred and sixteen votes.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's good for twenty-nine.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: If it was a top-thirty poll, it would be ranked.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: But alas, they are not.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: There's the first time the trodans are unranked in the coaches' polls since twenty-nineteen.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: That of course, coming off of the dreaded five and seven season, the Clayhilton had in twenty-eightteen.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: Troves are twenty-third.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, going into the LSU game, and then promptly jumped up ten spots after beating LSU in Las Vegas.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting coaches' poll, though, because
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of USC opponents are in there.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: Notre Dame is fifth, Oregon seventh, Illinois, twelve, Michigan, fourteen.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: Those are four ranked opponents right there.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: Two of them in the top ten, three of them in the top twelve.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Four in the top four team.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, USC has some tough games on the schedule.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we've got a circle Illinois as a very, as the big first test of the schedule.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Right now they're ranked twelve, like they're getting a lot of respect.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of that respect comes from the fact that they're returning a quarterback, which is my theory behind Illinois being twelve in Indiana being nineteen.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you know,
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: returning quarterbacks.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: The returning quarterback bump is real and they're significant.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, this goes to show like Illinois, you can't overlook Illinois as far as when we're looking at the season.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're looking at, you know, our name and and Oregon are rightly the big, the big games.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Michigan at home big game, but like there are other teams on this schedule that could be tricky and I think there are other teams on this schedule who will almost certainly find themselves ranked at some point during the season.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can never count out Iowa.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: I know Iowa is sort of a punchline at this point, but that, you know, when you got a defense that tends to be as good as Iowa's, they will
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: Potentially right up there Nebraska is one to watch so yeah, it's it's gonna be it's gonna be an interesting schedule that's that's obviously has many of its tests and I guess the question for USC is Why aren't
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: the Trojans ranked.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: How valid are the reasons for people not having the Trojans ranked and what is USC going to do to answer the questions that are that are circling around.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote something on fancited.com about the questions that I have that explain why USC is not ranked in this poll and why I don't expect them to be ranked in the AP poll frankly when that comes out.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: I expect next week, but you know, sometimes it's a little later.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: And my big three questions that I posed were, is Jade and my off of the guy?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Can Eric Gentry stay healthy and will the offensive line remain functional throughout the whole season?
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the Jade and my off of question is certainly a reasonable one given
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: how we saw him perform at times last season.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: I also think it's the easiest one to answer in the sense that like I think he will end up being the guy.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think that after a year, a year of development, another offseason of development coming in as the incumbent starter.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like I expect him to be a capable starting quarterback for USC and not be a huge question mark coming into this season aside from
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: Less of the question mark of like can he be good and less of and more of the question mark of like how good can he be like can he sniff elite status because if he does that'll change a lot but as far as like will he be a functional quarterback I think absolutely he will be yeah
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: if she was three in one with him.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, three in one with him last year not being functional the time.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think he was a very up and down quarterback in the hope would be that as he matures and learns and develops that he will create those those values will be a lot more you know shallow as far as relative to the peaks.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then with Eric Gentry, you know, his whole career has been
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: punctuated by injuries.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: So frankly, and harshly, I'm sorry to say this.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope I'm wrong about this, but I think anyone who goes into this season thinking that Eric Gentry will be available fully available for the entire season is kidding themselves.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have to prepare yourself for the inevitability of Eric Gentry having to misgames because of injury.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's the it's the res James thing right.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's it's there.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: It was Daniel storage if we're going to go back from a Liverpool perspective.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: So on that side, like the my question about our gentry is about how good can the defense be.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think the defense will be improved from last year.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's pretty clear.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: I have a lot of faith and dent in land.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think the additions that they've made in the transfer portal recruiting and retention have all come together to form a defense that I think will be really solid this coming year.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: But I think if you have tomorrow Ramsey and Eric Gentry on the field together and one or two of the transfers click in a way that you need them to, like this defense could be really good.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: like really, really good.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: But the ceiling of this defense is more limited.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: The less off in air, gentry is on the field.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's sort of my my question on the defense defensive side.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's more about the ceiling of this defense.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of dictated by air, gentry's health and a lot of other people's health, but mainly air, gentry.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: And we talk about preseason rankings, preseason polls.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: The ones that aren't, you know, statistically based on some sort of algorithm of some sort.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: In the off season, in the preseason, when you're looking up to eight, we do this when we do like a twenty page rundown ahead of our season predictions episode.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: And we're looking at teams.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: We are looking at returning production.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: How many guys should they have back from last year?
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: And it's very easy to put a lot of weight in teams that have their quarterback coming back.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a natural thing to do.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: Teams with the fewest question marks get ranked.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the natural way of it, right?
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, as these got question marks, would you call this a snub?
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: Because
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could, you could say it is given that SC is pretty much always at least ranked last year.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: They were twenty-third coming off of a eight and five season in which they lost their high school winning quarterback.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: If they're twenty-third then then
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: with a defense that was absolutely atrocious yeah and had a million question marks last year and the defense this year has way fewer question marks than I think you can make the case that they could be you know ranked this year but again well the difference between twenty-third and twenty-nine I really don't think so not not
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: that much, I mean, when you're looking at anything after fifteen, it's all just throwing darts at a board blindly.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, you can shuffle up all of these things.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think there's an argument for USC being in there over a lot of different teams that are in there.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think Tennessee has huge questions.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think people are making a lot of assumptions about Florida.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think people are making a lot of assumptions about Texas A&M.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, BYU's in a weird spot now because of their quarterback situation.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a lot of there's a lot of question marks up and down the board.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: I just think USC's question marks are a little bit more extreme and I think the last one is the most extreme.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you are, you know, a lot of voters won't dip, you know, deeper than the quarterback question and maybe that's
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: their main reason for keeping USC out, but I think if you if you go beyond the surface on on USC and look at what's going on with the offensive line, I think there's legitimate reason for concern about what USC can do this season offensively.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because Jane might have been able to be an elite quarterback is dependent on his offensive line giving him the support that he needs.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: So from an offensive line perspective, I think USC is walking the tightest tightrope I can remember in a long, long time from the offense.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: And USC has had seasons where we've come in in the season and been uncertain about what's going to go on with the offensive line.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: This season is by far the most uncertain that I have looked at simply because I can put together a starting five.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: then you go down into the two deep and you're like, okay, USA needs a lot of things to go right and a lot of players to be ready to play after just one season of development.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, offensive lines, I don't think you can go through a season and expect to be able, I mean, if you are able to have the same five, start every single game of the season, you're doing, you're, you're probably doing pretty well.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: But at one last time, USC was able to do that.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Just go five all the way through.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: You need your six and seventh and eighth and ninth offensive linemen to be ready to go out there and play.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: And right now, USC's sixth seventh eighth and I mean, not even that.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: USC's fifth sixth seventh eighth and ninth offensive linemen are complete unknowns for a variety of different reasons.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: But it's I mean, this is this is USC leaping into the abyss and they might have a bunch of court on them.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's entirely possible.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think that cancels can come up and say, you know, all these guys are ready to go and they turn out to be ready to go and then
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: the quality of the carabiner.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all of my worries about the season go away because of the preparation that was put in place and the recruiting that was done and that everyone was ready to step up and go.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: But there is a reality where not everyone's ready to step up and go.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like you have to acknowledge that reality.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I think skepticism about USC's offensive line is completely warranted when you look at who is available and in what state
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: a projected two deep is there's some fire that you see is playing with here.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all those things are going to have to be answered.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: Hockey P in the chat said that he likes that S C is is not ranked.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: So far this year because there's little pressure as possible to start the season.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that's true.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's true.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about it a lot that S C always seems to
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: When you write them off, they perform better than you think.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's always a better season when they're not ranked.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of that is anecdotal, because SC has not had that many seasons unranked.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to see how that all comes together.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is what we're talking about the offensive light.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: I want to really get into the DJ wing field thing.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: Transfer from Purdue, looking to play at guard.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: I played at guard last year for the board of makers.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about him last week, we talked about him before that.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: He's got an eligibility thing with whether or not one of his due co-years or counts, which will give him a season one more season or not.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: This is according to Ryan Cartier of the LA Times.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: His case has been transferred to a new judge, James Selna.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: who then denied Wingfield's request for a temporary restraining order, but set a hearing for August, eight teeth in which the NCAA must show cause for why he should not get an injunction.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: The judge also intends to hear Wingfield's case and two others regarding NCAA eligibility, including UCLA, Widersever Transfer, Caden Robinson in the same August, eight teeth hearing.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: So that's twelve days away.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: looks to be like when you'll find out about this, whether or not F.C.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: will have wing field back and he's not a returning starter because he's a, you know, a new player to the Trojans obviously, but if he's in there, he's someone who has started.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: He started last year for the board of makers in the big ten, but when you, when you, when you parcel this together, like, parcel through, like, we're,
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have more confidence or less?
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because the wording of this and which the answer to a must show cause for why you shouldn't get an injunction makes it sounds promising, but I don't know if I'm just reading too much into it.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: I like, like I've said, like I think if fairness were on the table and I think this would be an easy thing to sort out for the lies and always fair.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: And that is what makes this all uncertain.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: When they say that the NCAA has to show cause for why he shouldn't get an injunction,
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: what to what degree is that the case?
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Because if it's that they have to say that like, do they have to prove that it is strictly important that DJ Wingfield and Kaden Robinson don't get to play this season because the integrity of the incidental A is at stake.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: If that's their cause,
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: Then that's, I don't know, that's pretty weak.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: But if their cause is something closer to the rules, say this, everybody signed up to follow these rules.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: The judge that allowed the exceptions to be made for others was not
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: litigating the five-year clock, the five-year clock is the law of the answer to the lay, and sucks to be you.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: And if that, I mean, there is a world where that is caused for the answer to the lay, like sometimes cause is simply because I said so.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: And when you're the answer to the lay, like, you know,
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: It could be as simple as that, but like, but that's that's the question of what is what is the judge actually wanting to hear because Wingfield and Robinson are arguing a financial stake in this.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: They are arguing that the incidentally is denying them hundreds of thousands of dollars of ability to profit from on an NIL by not letting them be eligible.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: So like does the incidentally need to
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know what arguments both sides need to make as far as ensuring that there is a temporary shredding order.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like is this the kind of thing that the judge is willing to let it
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: to to give these guys their their ability to play and then let this play out further down in the courts like later on I don't I don't I don't know none of this makes a lot of sense.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: I I think you as he needs to prepare as though they will not have daydreaming field.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a piece of owners at this point.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: It feels a lot.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's obviously not the same thing.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: Not exactly a one for one, but it feels like twenty one years ago.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Mike Williams in August.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: And that whole or deal.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-huh.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: I see getting on the plane to
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: You know, fly to Maryland to go play Virginia Tech, not knowing if Mike Williams is going to play or not, right?
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: So Ryan Cartier did put together on Twitter a sort of a two deep of what he thinks S.C.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: looks like right now without being filled in there, which is like to your point.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's how we should process this as it stands now.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: If you get winged field, he's a bonus at this point.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: Um, first team, left tackle Elijah Page.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: left guard, Mike up in Willow's center, uh, Geonry, Big General Reed.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: Right guard a lot of you know a and right tackle to bias Raymond Second team Justin Tau-A-New at Left tackle left guard Hayden Treader Center Killian O'Connor right guards Katelyn Miller and right tackle Elijah Vikona Listen a lot of chat in the chat literally about you know Vikona and the guys that S.E.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: could plan on the the offensive line when you look at
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: Cartys, too deep here, what are your takeaways?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: My takeaway is that USC needs a lot of second-year players to be ready to play, and I think that we've talked about this in the past that when you're looking at offensive linemen, I just don't want offensive linemen to have to be relied on before their third year.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: just in terms of development in terms of learning a system, learning all that kind of stuff, maturing, like I don't want to ask offensive linemen to be ready to go before they're third year and USC is now asked every single one of these guys except for big general to be ready by, you know, in your two and Ben Willow says is the only one there that
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: sort of this will be his year three this will be his make or break this is this is his go to like USC is already called called on Elijah page USC is already called on a line in a line in a line in a and they've already called on to buy a ceramic with varied results I might add like I think it's obvious Elijah page is a lot of talent and ability I think that he will I I'm not necessarily worrying too much
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: about page and his ability to hold down that left tackle spot.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: It would be great if USC can get him to be like a really, really stud at left tackle.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: But at this point, like I think that if you get solid left tackle play from him, then you're feeling pretty good.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's shown that he can be there just about consistency.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: with, uh, Alani Noah again, like it's, it's consistency and also just raising his level from where he's been at.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's shown signs.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're there, but also he's shown has had issues, like all of these young offensive linemen that USC threw in because they didn't have anybody else to buy his Raymond got thrown in and struggled at times, but because they didn't have anything else and you sort of have to now hope that getting thrown into the fire has, has, has battled to us at him and, and he's ready to go.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um,
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: And if he's not, then you need Justin Talon to be ready to go as a sophomore.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: And you need Hayden Trader to be ready to go as a sophomore, or you know, Elijah Vekonot to be ready to go as a true freshman.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: These are asking a lot.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: And that's just talking about the recruited like three like these are all like three star guys that U.S.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: he needs to have developed into capable starters who are ready to go out there and win football games.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's not even talking about the fact that in U.S.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: he's current too deep.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: There are not there's not one but two.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: walk-ons, and Killing O'Connor is a former walk-on now, huge respect for Killing O'Connor.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's now been around long enough.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: These clearly, they respect and rely on him, but also they went out and got a starting center to replace him, as far as like pecking order going forward, and they weren't willing to start him
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: they instead move Jonah Monheim over to center instead of having killing an icon or take over as the former walk on so like he is a backup but he is right up there and and and one of the the few that you look at in this back line and say like they are potentially ready to stand in and and and do a job for USC everybody else is a giant question mark and then you've got it right guard Kayla Miller who is a walk on a red shirt freshman walk on
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: who was a defensive lineman at Calabassas High School, very good defensive lineman, three-time all, Marmont League, so like he was very good.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: He and his twin brother get preferred walk on spots last year.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: His twin brother is King Miller.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's a running back, but Kaylon has moved to Offensive Line and is now pushing, according to Lincoln Riley, battling Elani Noah for that right-guard spot.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just gonna be straight up honest here.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that USC has a converted defensive lineman walk on red shirt freshman in a battle for one of these starting spots that was supposed to be.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is a position that's taken care of and locked in.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is a concern for me, personally.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it, it came on Miller.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: It might be the next great USC walk on.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: I would love it.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: Love it.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: Love it.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: Love it.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: Love a walk on story.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: But we have to face the facts here too.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is the pool that USC is picking from.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: it's it's I think if you had to rely on one red shirt freshman or one sophomore or one you know true freshman and you sort of hope that one of one of three is going to be the guy that's going to have to to contribute right away
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you look at the the offensive lineman that U.S.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: he brought in in this class Elijah McConaughey Alex pain really washer and Aaron down of those four like I would say okay of the four if one of them ready to play right now then that's great because you get one of those four figures it out but like right now U.S.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: he is is is in a place where they are
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: sort of tying their hopes to a bunch of different guys who don't give them any wiggle room and create a situation where it's entirely possible that they aren't ready to play.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's entirely possible that they're not up to Big Ten level yet.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to be honest, this two deep does not inspire the kind of confidence that I wanna have.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm not looking at this two deep as like, and I know I've gone on forever.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just gonna, I'll stop after this.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not looking at this two deep as like, can this two deep get USC to bowl eligibility?
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think probably this two deep will get USC to bowl eligibility.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we should not be talking about that at USC.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: This needs to be a question of can this two deep?
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: Keep USC competitive in games against Oregon, Notre Dame and Michigan.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know that I can say for sure, yes.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: That is my concern with this two deep.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that they're going to have to prove it, right?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to prove that they have the ability to, you know, play well and protect my Ava and create holes in the running game.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: As thing was very good at run blocking last year.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: I had the like highest yards per carry average and in the big ten.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: We know that they struggled early on, especially against Michigan.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_00]: The Michigan game was really bad from the offensive line perspective.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_00]: They got better as the year went on, but they still weren't great.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think the only thing giving me some sort of optimism here
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: And this is entirely unfounded optimism is the last year that we completely wrote off the offensive line, which is twenty twenty one.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they were arguably the best unit on the entire team.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, this is a completely fair observation.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_00]: So that's not to say that that's going to happen again.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: I do not think the offensive line is going to be the best unit on this team.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_00]: Probably going to be the wide receivers in the secondary or whatever, but
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: The point being, lots of stuff can change from fall camp to how the season goes.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: There is the coaching change that has happened on the offensive line.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if Hanson being instead of Hanson changes things for a full season.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see we'll see how it all comes together.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is this is gonna be a fascinating challenge for Zach Hanson because like if this if if all of these guys turn out to to work then like
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: gives that cancer coach of the year award.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: Because not saying you can't do it, but like the level of uncertainty around the number of players of these ten that we're talking about.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like there are two point five, three, maybe, who you can legitimately say like,
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: you're locked in here.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like two point five to three of ten.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: And the rest are just like, well, you know, yeah.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how it goes.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: So, and you're banking to get the three point five if Winkfields can get in there.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he's up.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's at this point even.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: And this is the funny thing.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, even DJ Winkfield is not a magic bullet.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, DJ Winkfield is, he was a, a, a,
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: decent but not great line minute Purdue and and some of that could have been about Purdue you know but like it's not like he was a you know a a it's not like he was a a world beater at Purdue is not like he's guaranteed to go out there and be a really good
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: You know, offensive lineman for USC, but he's, it's much more likely that he can be a functional offensive lineman than what we currently know of Michael Benwellos, which is extremely little because we haven't seen enough of him and when he has gone in, you know, like a lot of the young guys that got thrown in, it wasn't always pretty, but you don't expect it to be pretty because you shouldn't be throwing in young guys in those situations.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, it's USC's fault, not the players fault, but this season you're coming in with it is USC's fault.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: that the sheer number of these sophomores second year players have to be ready to go with little to know like lead up.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's not on that.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's on the program.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, you live with the bed that you made.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you live with the bed that you made.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's always going to be harder when you have to think on the transfer portal.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: This is something that you've talked about with Hitler.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: Hitler Day when you've done Oregon podcasts and all that kind of stuff.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's the one good thing is Hitler's theory is that you can plug it.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: You can plug in one transfer off his alignment and you can have your line work, but you can't plug in two or three.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: And so maybe maybe it does work out.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: The USC is no longer plugging in two or three off his line.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's only one and the rest are homegrown and we're going to see how well USC has nurtured those those plans.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to say it's going to be twenty twenty one all over again because that's these coaches twenty twenty one got fired in September.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: So who was the offensive line coach in twenty two one?
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm a choir.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: Claim a choir.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they were.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they were.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_00]: He was together.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: Clay Houghton should have hired in twenty nineteen.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he brought in the air raid offense under her under Harold.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_00]: Right, Harold.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: In the chat, USC number one hundred says the fact that Lincoln Riley said portal usage in year two is the biggest regret instead of not firing Grins and wasting Caleb second years is down to me and it tells me that Lincoln Riley is still clueless.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to say in a press conference that his biggest regret was not firing a coach.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: that is something that you might hear that if he's talking to you on the streets he's not going to say that in a press conference also i think that for what it's worth i think link and really talking about the portal stuff and being forthright about it i think shows a lot of self awareness for what it is
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: uh... he made decisions to go all in on the portal in twenty twenty two certain twenty going into the twenty three season right understandably so because it works so well in your one it did not work well in your two i would i would argue uh... i think i fundamentally disagree it depends on what he what he meant by that i think that uh... i fundamentally disagree with the question of the portal in uh...
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: in year two, so I would have been going into twenty twenty three, except if he means that they should have done
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: more of what they did this year.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: With guys like, you know, we've talked about like, to Mayor Robbinson and, and, uh, a candidate or a lacquer and like, these, these, uh, judge at like these younger guys who, and that's who they went out.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: They got Anthony Lucas.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, but what I'm saying is on the offensive line.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think that the place should have been you get your next Emmanuel Pregnant because the thing is, Emmanuel Pregnant your one was not good.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: It was his second year that he came in and he, and he, you know, put it all together.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: If in twenty twenty three, they had targeted a bunch of freshmen or sophomore offensive linemen to come in and that you are not for this year.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: You are for
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: twenty twenty four or twenty twenty five.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: USA would be in a lot better place but they didn't they only offensive line and they looked at were the sort of one and done.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: Uh... grad transfers and the like so.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: I. I think it's difficult because we we talk about this with uh... recruiting all the time right or coaches all the time you're going to be judged uh... when you get hired you're going to be judged how this how the tenure goes.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: But that goes with coaching with everything right.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: except for the most part, people judge how decisions pan out, then the decisions themselves.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_00]: And we see this all out.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: You and I listen to Big Brother podcast, right?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_00]: And they were talking about on Big Brother, how many times that there's a decision that gets made that has a twenty percent success rate and then it works and then everyone's convinced that that was still the right decision based on, you know, confirmation bias.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that there is something like,
- 39:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay with Lincoln Riley talking about his regret in year two.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: But like, the regret in year two is still based on confirmation bias.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't work.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so, therefore, it was a bad decision.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's a little easy to say.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: Because you go back and you look at the list of, and we did this what a week or two ago, right?
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: Where, I mean, transfer points, let's Google this.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: the names at S.C.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_00]: brought in twenty twenty three uh... dory and singer Anthony Lucas barrel exander manual pregnant uh... the offensive line guys that they went and then ended up not being able to work out like at the time everybody was on board those things yeah they did not work and because they did not work i think it's easy to say that it was a regret of how the he would rather put his eggs in the high school basket that point instead of doing some it didn't turn out
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: I understand that I totally totally get it.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that it's a lot.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: But they're also were wins in that like manual pregnant was they win before USC left and walked Anthony Lucas was he's he's been a starter when he's been healthy.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's just been the issue of health.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Marshall Lloyd was a home run.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: Tarkwin played.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: Mason Cobb was a regular starter.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: Singer was obviously a dud, but Christian Roland Wallace was a really important starter for USC in that year that he was there.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Mohamed starter.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: He on bars probably wasted.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm willing to say that Mason Cobb's issue was coaching related.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well, because he was much better.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: Last year that he was.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, let's get to the other sort of news that news came out today.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: I am going to preface this as watchless season.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: You say this every year is the biggest dumbest.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_00]: Do not buy into any of this kind of stuff too much kind of stuff.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: What matters less than fall camp votes?
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: Watchless.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_00]: However, just talking about this from a strict, how the sausage is made kind of way.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: Just like with fall camp quotes you ask you're writing a story on Joe blow and then you ask a question about Joe blow and then there's a long answer about Joe blow and then everybody else writes a story about Joe blow and then now there's written record about Joe blow turning heads in camp because of all this kind of stuff like that's how things work right yeah and
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: When you're looking at previews and you're putting together information about teams, we do this all the time, we're putting together a twenty-page run-down of a season prediction to episode where we're looking at, I've already written my little preview notes for Missouri State and Georgia Southern.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I have written that first team pre-season all sunbout or whatever, right about whoever the players.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: Those things that you write down, like, belitton cuff, watch list stuff.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: affects how you discuss players going forward if from a media perspective because those are listed in the media guide when it's week three and this game is going to be on big ten network and the big ten network announcers are calling the game they have a call to see so far this season they're going to look in the media guide and they're going to say in this so it's a was you know he was on the water so then I need to account for this dude
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: That kind of, you know what I mean?
- 43:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, this is how these things matter.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: A name recognition also matters for voting on actual, yeah, like, all whatever teams that are actually the real teams.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, like, this stuff shouldn't matter.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_00]: I understand how it does when you look at how this ostrich is made, right?
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: So what are about to say?
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: All the opinions I have here, surface level do not mean anything, but zero stock in this.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: McCy-Lemon named the twenty twenty-five Bill and a couple of words watched list.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, understandably so fifty two catches seven hundred sixty four yards three touchdowns last year.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: But Jacobi Lane left off the watch list.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_00]: On the surface.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: This to me.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that makes sense.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: McCy-Lemon looked better than Jacobi Lane last year.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's fine.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: Then you look at it and you go, I'm sort of offended from the, again, the pre-season, thirty thousand foot view of it all.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_00]: Jacoby Lane had twelve touchdowns last season, which is still mind blowing to me.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_00]: I still don't believe that he was well-prepared.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: At least how many wider severs in the Big Ten had more touchdowns than Jacoby Lane left here?
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: Well, here's a little problem is that I can currently see the answer to this trivia question.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to just, you know, vamp for a little bit to give the audience time to think and try to decide how many receivers had more touchdown catches than Scooby Lane last year.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then I will tell them that there was only one.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_00]: That was Jeremiah Smith.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_00]: Lane was tied for fifth, nationally in touchdown catches with twelve.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_00]: Of all, that means there's four players ahead of him that could potentially come back this season, right?
- 45:06[SPEAKER_00]: But of those four players, two of them have graduated.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Nash and Kyle Williams from Washington State.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: Some guy I don't know if you ever heard of this guy Travis Hunter.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you heard of him.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_00]: He's in the NFL now.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: He had more touchdown catchers last year.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't even win the bullet in the cough last year.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_00]: And the high spin and Jeremiah Smith.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: Jeremiah Smith, the only guy still in college football who had more touchdown catches than him.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Cody Lane, not on the bullet in the cough loss list.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: This to me is a bigger snob than S.C.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: not being ranked in the preseason coaches.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: Especially because you just need to be breathing in order to qualify for the watch list.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: Watch this.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: They get made by someone going to CFP stats and then sort by all the production stat.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like how do Mr. Kobe laying that in?
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, it's time for story time, though.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: As a few years back, while I was covering USC on, on Reinhardtroy, on Reinhardt.com, there was a preseason watch list for the Belinic Off that was put out and it was missing a name.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember who that name was?
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is snub.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, dude, you should be on this watch list.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I got an email from the guy who runs the frickin' bulletin' a couple of wards or whatever, saying, like, don't call it a snub.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, getting mad at me because I called it a snub.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, this is just the watch list and we just sort of like, do that and like, he can get put on it later or whatever.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, no, but like, it was a frickin' snub.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm sorry.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: I know you don't want me to say that it was a snub, but also like, this was a damn snub.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: But also, and it's a snub on a meaningless thing.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, I got proven very correct that it was very much a snub, because I'm pretty sure he was a finalist for the award that year.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, it's just one of those things, like they miss guys.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Especially if you're like the number two, like, you know, they seem a Kylaman, the Kylaman's the best receiver on the team, and so they just leave it at that.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: But, yeah, do Kobe Lane deserves to be on the watch list at least?
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: Does it matter?
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: Does it change whether or not Kobe Lane will be good or not this season?
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: But he deserves to be there.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_00]: It means literally nothing.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like we talked about.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pulling up the actual list right now.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: How many people are on this list?
- 47:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it looks pretty.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: How many does it say how many names are on this?
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like fifty names.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: But they like do it in tooth like they they add to it later.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a Charlie, I guess.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: If you put a gun in my head and said, but should Jacobi Lane be on the watch that I say, I say, sure, but I don't really care.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but like, it only annoys me because he didn't have the twelve touchdowns.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't matter.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's just guys on this watch list that are just like, okay, I don't, I don't know.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I get it.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan Williams obviously, but like you got to put Jeremy Bernard on there for Alabama, like I don't know what to do with his stats last year.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, let's get to the mail back, Charlie.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, Jeremy Bernard had fifty catches for seven hundred ninety four yards and two touchdowns.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what did Lane have?
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was forty six and then yeah, so you know more yards but wave fewer touchdowns.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know whatever
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's go to a discord message that we got from Tim and L.A.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_00]: Based on USC's reasonable expectations for this upcoming season, what performance would you constitute an above average expectations?
- 49:01[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely amazing season.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_00]: Likewise, what do you think would be pretty good, medium bad, and a wheels falling off this aster?
- 49:09[SPEAKER_00]: Ideally, this is just regarding USC's record and on field performance and not injuries of a success, et cetera.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe in精xes, but I'd rather not put that up to the test.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I ended up creating cat my categories and I separated absolutely amazing and above expectations.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: So my my my sort of lineup is absolutely amazing above expectations pretty good medium bad wheels fell off disaster.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: So we will start with wheels fell off disaster six and six.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: Five and five and seven.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: Any area where USC is flirting with, if we are talking about bowl eligibility in November, we'll spell off disaster.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: Not here for it.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: I do not want to have to go through that season.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: Seven and five is bad.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: Seven of five is bad because you're just standing pat.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like you cannot have the season that USC had last year and then come out this season and have the same season.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_00]: Especially the surface when the schedule is.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, more reasonable than that.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because you should have four wins before the start of October.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't, that.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so, uh, you know, just straight up, you cannot be Nebraska.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: Do not be Nebraska.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: Seven and five.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: You're entering Nebraska.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: eight and four is medium.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I think that probably means that you lost to Michigan and Notre Dame and Oregon and eight, maybe we're going to have to leave the pendant on the context of that eight and four.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, if your four losses are Michigan, Notre Dame, Illinois and given the unrest that SC fans have at the moment, eight and four will not satisfy anyone as a medium.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: No, but it will be, it will be very medium, very mid.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_01]: It medium mid in the sense of like, is this, is this objectively wheels fell off disaster?
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: No, but is anybody happy?
- 51:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, nobody's, no, this is the medium place.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you got beer, but it's room temperature, you know?
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: So for pretty good, we're going up to nine and three.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: nine and three means you've won nine games which I presume means you've won the games that you should win.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: As we always say nine and three is always a tricky spot because nine and three looks different.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: If those three are blowout losses versus you know you played organ tough and you played Michigan or Notre Dame tough and you know you barely are breakingly lost those games and you're nine and three but you know you looked like you could have won every game right.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty good.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: Fine.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: Ten and two is above expectations, which is to say that now we're talking about you have taken care presumably, you have taken care of business against the other sort of ranked-ish teams that are on the schedule, IE, your Illinois's and your Michigan's, and you've probably lost to the two teams that are going to be in the playoff, IE, Oregon, and Notre Dame.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: If, if not, if the two losses are not to those two teams, then you probably had more of a peak carol type season, which is to say that you got a big win.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: You beat one of those two, no name in Oregon.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: Big win, big win.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: But you also probably just, you know,
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: You have a big ten road opener, gotcha, or something, you know, one of them.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, whatever it was, like just, you got, got somewhere, but if you have a big win, you got that big win and ten wins overall, you're feeling pretty good.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's really competitive.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: Eleven and one, absolutely amazing, because that means you've got eleven wins and you beat one of those two teams and you're in the playoff guaranteed.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_01]: Eleven and one gets you in the playoff.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: Ten and two probably gets you in the playoff.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_01]: So, eleven and one, absolutely amazing.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_01]: Off the charts, twelve and oh, is it possible?
- 53:10[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, but I didn't want to put it on the charts.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with this.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a good way of putting it.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_00]: My only thought is first, my general thought is always, what does it look like, right?
- 53:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I said it's every year and probably annoying that I said this all the time.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_00]: But what does it look like, right?
- 53:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, was, was,
- 53:34[SPEAKER_00]: where you down to the third string quarterback and you lost the game because you look down you know what what what is it look like right yeah I think a ten and two can be absolutely amazing if it's a situation where
- 53:50[SPEAKER_00]: You lose to Illinois by a late field goal value after.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_00]: The right number nine, and you lose on the road, uh, twenty four, twenty one.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_00]: You were in the game.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: It was a classic football game.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_00]: You lose that one.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_00]: You go to Notre Dame.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: Makes you better.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, makes you better.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: You go and you face number one Notre Dame and you lose it over time.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then you go into Eugene and you beat Oregon.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's an incredible scene.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: Are you telling a story?
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: Are you telling us a story where USC is growing?
- 54:28[SPEAKER_00]: You're just doing nothing better throughout the season.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_01]: The best thing that Pete Carroll seasons always had was there was always a coherent story.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like, let's do a thousand two seasons.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, those teams just always got you.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: You were on a journey with them and that journey was always trending upwards.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_01]: Even if there were little, you know, hiccups through and through, you always knew you were going to end up somewhere good.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_00]: I see loses at Kansas State and the game that was super windy and Mike Williams couldn't catch a pass.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_00]: They lose a week or so later.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's like triple overtime against Washington, a really good Washington State team up on the pull-ups.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_00]: That was Washington State team that went to the Rose Bowl with Jason Gasser at quarterback, right?
- 55:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then they went every other game and they
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: Dominantly beat a top ten to her name team at the end of the season and Carson Palmer wins the high.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's a world where that happens where like your early stumbles are Illinois and Michigan, and then you beat everybody else in the telestore.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: You get better.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's a world that happens.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: There's also a world in which
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: This is the twenty-three re-ducks.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_00]: SC starts the season six and out.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then gets absolutely turtle forks by Notre Dame and Oregon and double at Nebraska.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then end up losing an embarrassing game to UCLA, whether just have no interest, you know what I mean?
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's all possible.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: West Texas, Mike in the chat says, in all caps, can we stop referring to the Notre Dame game as a loss?
- 56:05[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_01]: We can't.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_01]: USC is not beaten Notre Dame in South Bend since two thousand eleven guys.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot say it's a win until you prove you can do you can win there.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot you like it's just you have to get over that hump before I will even consider that that game is a win and the problem I have is that Notre Dame is always fricking beatable.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like USC has never faced a Notre Dame team that was unbeatable.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's just USC was, you know, being USC for the last decade.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: So that's like, that's not it.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's not it.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that USC should always go into the Notre Dame game and think that they can win that game.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: But until USC goes into South Bend and proves that they can win that game, I have to pencil it in as a likely loss because quite frankly, it is a likely loss at this stage.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with you.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is the one to think like I'm not calling out my sexist right here, but like a lot of times we get comments of like, uh, why are you too negative?
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: Why are you too positive and and all this kind of stuff?
- 57:10[SPEAKER_00]: So much if it goes down to I will believe when I am proven that there's a reason to believe.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I will believe as he can go into the South Bend when there is a reason to sit here and say that
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's an obvious argument to make.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think that SE can be competitive against Notre Dame that were competitive against Notre Dame last year.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_00]: SE has been competitive in South Bend several times in the last decade.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_00]: They have not won in the last decade.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what I mean?
- 57:42[SPEAKER_00]: So... Yes.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_01]: West Texas, Mike says I'm Owen, three in South Bend.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe you're the problem West Texas, Mike.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you should stop, stop scheduling that road trip.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe this is a, maybe you are cursed.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_01]: And when you stop going into the game, you will say, well, I mean, I'm Owen, one in South.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, no it.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_01]: Am I done two?
- 58:05[SPEAKER_01]: No one.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_00]: I am Owen, two.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: I am on one.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to look up what the number one song was.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_00]: In two thousand eleven.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_00]: Lord.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_01]: There's a Wikipedia for this.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_00]: There is.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_00]: I was on the.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: Here we go.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_00]: The number one song in.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, at the beginning of October in twenty eleven, it was, moves like Jagger.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's incredible.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's incredible.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_00]: Later on, October fifteen, twenty eleven, it was someone like you by Adele, which doesn't feel that old to me.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it moves like Jagger feels like it's ancient.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_00]: Gangam style.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_00]: Gangam style, I think was twenty twelve.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's just really depressing to like look at it.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's really depressing to go to Windsopedia and look at just the current state of the rivalry because USC is not doing well in the rivalry right now.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like the long streak like there has been in the past, but Notre Dame has had the edge for over a decade now.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I would like that to stop personally.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_01]: So if USC could do a thing, that would be very fun.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get to question we got in the YouTube chat from Cameron.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_00]: At first go Texas, what are your thoughts?
- 59:44[SPEAKER_00]: We're very into off topic stuff by the way.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: What are your thoughts so far on the new season of Big Brother do you like Rachel and her turning house guess if not who would you have preferred to return to the Big Brother house?
- 59:55[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I like Rachel is a returning house guest because I think she's just, you know, she's interesting.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_01]: She's always going to bring she can be entertained.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: Bring the drama.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I dig it.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_01]: Um, this news.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's in a big brother.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's painful is what I will say.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_01]: I do not know if you're watching the feed.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't want to give any, uh, anything away.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I will say that there are currently discussions among, um, feed watchers and, and people in the community about whether or not this is the stupidest big brother cast in the history of the, of the, of the game.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_00]: They're making season nine and season sixteen.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_00]: And fifty, keeping them all around for their money.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is a lot of people doing things that they should not, that are going against their interest for reasons.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_01]: As for who would I have preferred to return to the big brother house?
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: I am low key against returning players because I feel like Rachel's in this situation, she can't win.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_00]: And in that sense it kind of makes it boring because this is not going to be on the show because they never would put this on.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_00]: She was begging to go home.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like she doesn't want to get stuck on the jury and be away from her family that long if she's not going to have a chance to win.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_01]: But like the fact that she just doesn't have a chance to win realistically because number one, she's not the companies that she used to be because she's gotten older and you know, the game has passed her by in that sense.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: And number two, because no one's going to vote for somebody who's already won the half million.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm sorry.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't either have a all stars three or have nobody and all stars two was so awful at this point.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather just have new people.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I personally think it would be fun if they were going to do a, if they were going to do a returning player season, I think it should be all copies.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_01]: So like, get Michael Brunner, get, get jagged, get, you know, anybody who like was winning.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_00]: So that way someone can't just run through it.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_01]: So then it's just like, okay, it's a game of compies.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, we'll find out who actually are good at comps and who were just circumsantially better than everybody who was bad at comps.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I'd be interesting.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_00]: I would be interesting.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we got an email from Michael in the Valley.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is Michael to stylo.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_00]: This is the Valley.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_01]: A YouTube chat.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Michael.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, sorry.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: Michael.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: Michael.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_01]: Michael.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_01]: Michael in the Valley.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: Michael Castilello in the Valley says top four US cities go.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, okay.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: I got lots of opinions on this.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I want to bring this up is because this is going viral on on Twitter.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, not Twitter.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_00]: Take that.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like there's so many people with the wrong answer to this.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_00]: the top four cities undoubtedly there's one answer and the answer is New York L.A.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_00]: Chicago and pick your poison for number four that's what it is any other answer like the one that eventually went viral was someone saying Miami Atlanta Houston and something like I don't even think New York L.A.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_00]: Chicago was in it and it's like what
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_00]: I tell you, I'll make the argument for Houston.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think Houston has no business being in it.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_00]: I, uh, for the fourth city is like pick your poison between Boston San Francisco Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Philadelphia, any of those.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you think that was something.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think I agree with you that the three are obvious New York L.A.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: Chicago.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: There are just no question.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can absolutely make a case for Miami and and just let that be your sort of more southeast representative of the group.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't put San Francisco in there, but I'm also San Francisco Hater.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I saw somebody say that not that it should be based on
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_00]: the world's preference.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like what the biggest for the world would see and that and that is why San Francisco and Miami Miami and like if you're talking about international cities yes it's LA New York San Francisco Miami I will listen to that argument any day of the week
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_00]: That is the only reason in which Chicago would not be in there, but that is a different list.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_00]: That is, top four international cities.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_00]: If we're just talking about top four, the big four US cities, Chicago is in there.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_00]: There's no, what are we doing?
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_00]: Also, I hear people make the argument for New Orleans.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_00]: New Orleans, I'm sorry, it isn't belong in the top four, either.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry on the chat says New York, LA Chicago, Stanford, just go.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_00]: I, I will listen to that.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I will listen to that.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think I put it, Lana is my number four.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like Atlanta.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_00]: I like Atlanta.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_01]: I like Atlanta as my phone number four.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_01]: I understand the instinct to put something from Texas, in which case I'll go Austin.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_00]: Texas and Florida have the issue of, like, there's two cities.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_00]: Collectively a state.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_00]: You and I watched it take like the other day.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the top four states.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have to pick somebody else.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_00]: And that's New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, like, pick your poison.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_00]: But like, Texas and Florida need to belong.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_00]: But that would be states, not cities.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_00]: There's too many different cities in those states.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like even Miami.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_00]: South Florida, I think, has way more than just Miami has to offer, you know what I mean?
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I mean Los Angeles is also like, you know, what is LA?
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_00]: Can't my says it's Philly hints down.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, could you say Seattle?
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_00]: If we're talking about best or favorite, yes, if you're talking about like the top four major, no, Seattle's not in there.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle wouldn't even be.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle is sort of an international city to some extent from just being on the west coast and having like international flights to Asian whatnot.
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_00]: But like, no, as efforts just go, it'd be over.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle at that point.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_01]: We should do a sorry.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_01]: Saga is asking about a rock follower meetup like a meetup at the end of the month, which we have talked we we do want to do last year we did a like a tailgate.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_01]: which was fun except that we're bad at tailgates because our grill never works or we don't have enough seating or this or this that.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_01]: So now I was thinking like should we just do it at our and I want to say the name Michael for you know you'll know what I mean when I say like our local ideal bar place that would you know is that it's not a bad idea.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't know.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we're always sort of game for those kind of thing.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_00]: We need to shake these a couple of years to go.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_00]: Shake his hands.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_00]: Sort of a joke.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_00]: And it was fun.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, yeah, um, they get a YouTube chat from Michael E that says, yes, sir, my favorite couple.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_00]: Fun fact.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think I saw them in Ralph's year, years ago in someone, California next to the sizzler.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_00]: This was before they announced they were a couple.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so this is legitimately funny.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's hilarious, but also, this is why I don't venture outside the house.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, what is funny is that you absolutely saw a set of Ralphs in someone Michael because we used to live around there and that Ralphs next to says there was literally like our Ralphs.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this must've been before I started exclusively doing online orders.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_01]: Well, COVID had a lot to do with that, too.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_01]: I need to avoid the, the, the, the, the, the, I know the paparazzi just all over the place, but, uh, but hey, we're being recognized.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_01]: We can add another, you know, belated recognition.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_00]: Where's this rank from being recognized on the, on the cruise and middle of the ocean?
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_01]: love about this being recognized on the cruise wilds because just like there's only a couple thousand people on that cruise and you know whatever but I do think it's really funny that like we have not lived there in like several years so this was years ago yeah
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's entirely possible that Michael didn't see us.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then he just saw some random people at a Ralphs in some London.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, it was like, well, I don't know how that could be us.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, like it was one hundred billion percent us.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_01]: So like, I think this is just really funny that like, there was somebody in that Ralphs us unknowing, you know, thoughts and so on.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's Michael.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really super ready to try it.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_01]: But then, you know, didn't come up and talked to us because, you know, we're all people and that's fine.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_01]: We get it.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_00]: This hat is a dough wise hat.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_00]: And we had the awkward
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, yeah.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_00]: We were at a wedding anniversary.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_00]: We decided we were going to go to Tamo Shantar.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the reasons I mentioned Tamo Shantar was because I was listening to the doughboys and they were talking about going to Tamo Shantar and how they have been going there a lot lately or whatever it was, right?
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, oh yeah, we should go.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't met in a while.
- 1:09:51[SPEAKER_00]: Make a reservation.
- 1:09:52[SPEAKER_00]: We go there and sitting two tables away is Mitch from Dubois, which was like,
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_00]: We were just listening to them, talked about this place, and they're there.
- 1:10:09[SPEAKER_00]: Michael was freaking out.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Michael was freaking out.
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I was freaking out.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very composed.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get stuck.
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get stuck.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_01]: He spent the entire dinner talking at a whisper.
- 1:10:20[UNKNOWN]: Because he didn't want anybody near us, they hear him.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, I can't hear you.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, that's weird.
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I don't know who.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_00]: And you see in the same photo episode where, uh, we're, Cramer sees, uh, Jonah Maschio dunk his donut.
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I have seen that.
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it was, it was not going to be one of those things where I was just going to.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I wasn't going to be doing one of those.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we're gonna have things up.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, I've, I've queued up Badger to part.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_01]: You guys definitely won't be hearing this because our sound is good enough, but Badger has literally spent the last hour howling.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_00]: They might have heard, they might have heard.
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it's, yeah.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we'll be back next week.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Monday, there will be an audio only episode posted Monday,
- 1:11:24[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be with our friends, uh, cross-stab pod, uh, Dick Marrfield from The What's Brewing Show.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Also, we have, and I need to add this to my board before we get there.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_00]: The, um, from travel age Thursdays.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Kenny, Kenny Martin, gonna be on there.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_00]: We love Kenny, we love Jake.
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_00]: To our two of our best friends of the world.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna record a podcast with them later this week.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be audio only until you go up on Monday.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be back here YouTube side of things.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_00]: Next Wednesday, four PM.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna start looking ahead towards the season a little bit more.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_00]: Look at more camp headlines and whatnot.
- 1:12:08[SPEAKER_00]: Two weeks from today is, sorry, two weeks from a week from Monday, the eight teeth.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to preview the offense.
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Two weeks from today, we're going to preview the defense.
- 1:12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Episode six hundred and twelve would be on August twenty fifth, the season predictions episode, you know, with our twenty eight page rundown.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then three weeks from today, episode six hundred and thirteen would be the U.S.C.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_00]: versus Missouri State.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_00]: Preview.
- 1:12:39[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, look at more of that.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's exciting.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_01]: Season's almost here.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's all hot.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's all hot.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we'll be back next time until then, we will see you.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
