- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's Almost Famous podcast. We are here today with a
- 0:08Speaker 2: very special guest. We thought, Hey, they're great at entertaining us.
- 0:13Speaker 2: They were entertaining on last night's episode of The Golden Bachelorette,
- 0:17Speaker 2: and so why not bring in a current Chippendale. Ryan,
- 0:21Speaker 2: Welcome to Almost Famous podcast.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Hey man, happy to be here.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Ryan. So many questions for you, but let's start with
- 0:29Speaker 2: talking about this show. The show in general. It feels
- 0:33Speaker 2: like a new kind of theme of the Bachelor franchise
- 0:38Speaker 2: where they're bringing in, uh Chippendale to teach men how
- 0:44Speaker 2: to dance. How do you hear about the call? And
- 0:48Speaker 2: why do you agree to come on to this crazy show.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Yeah, we've been developing a relationship with the Golden Bachelor
- 0:55Speaker 4: that throughout this year that we've really enjoyed. Yeah, I
- 0:59Speaker 4: know a few of the guys. Before I'd done this
- 1:01Speaker 4: particular episode, a few of the guys had flown out
- 1:03Speaker 4: to do a few others, been to New York and
- 1:06Speaker 4: a few other places. So my I'm the dance captain
- 1:10Speaker 4: for the show. I've been with the show for over
- 1:12Speaker 4: a decade now, and my job is to teach and
- 1:17Speaker 4: organize the show. So anyone knew that's coming in, Let's
- 1:20Speaker 4: say anyone from you know, just a new hire, to
- 1:24Speaker 4: one of our celebrity guests like Vinty G from Jersey Shore.
- 1:27Speaker 4: When these guys come in and need to learn the shows,
- 1:29Speaker 4: my job to teach them. And then it's my job
- 1:32Speaker 4: to organize who's in what spot for the night where
- 1:35Speaker 4: everyone goes.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Make sure that what's running into each other, make sure
- 1:38Speaker 3: all the tracks are covered.
- 1:39Speaker 4: So when the old Bachelor came and they're like, hey,
- 1:42Speaker 4: we we want to work with the Chip and Nails
- 1:46Speaker 4: and work with you guys and have a few of
- 1:47Speaker 4: our guys, you know, get coached up. That's kind of
- 1:50Speaker 4: my role in the show anyway, And I was I
- 1:53Speaker 4: was really excited to take a call and say yes.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So it does it change anything for you when you hear, hey,
- 2:01Speaker 2: these guys are all going to be sixty plus or
- 2:04Speaker 2: is it the same kind of strategy if you had
- 2:08Speaker 2: a celebrity guest.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Come on, Yeah, it's the same kind of strategy. It's
- 2:12Speaker 4: it's usually age is less much less of a fact
- 2:15Speaker 4: than you know, how familiar you are with movement and
- 2:19Speaker 4: how familiar you are with your own body and how
- 2:22Speaker 4: to get around and what your arm's doing while your
- 2:24Speaker 4: legs doing something, while your head's doing something. So it's
- 2:27Speaker 4: more kind of getting familiar with people and how much
- 2:30Speaker 4: they know their body rather than if they're twenty or
- 2:33Speaker 4: forty or sixty either.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So if you were a critic, what, how do you
- 2:39Speaker 2: feel like these men knew their body going into it?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Good? Good?
- 2:43Speaker 4: You know, I'd say age always helps that you know
- 2:46Speaker 4: a little more. The more time you have in it,
- 2:48Speaker 4: the more you know about it, good, the good end,
- 2:52Speaker 4: the bad.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:53Speaker 4: That can include like, ah, these not going well today,
- 2:56Speaker 4: or you know it's going to rain, but yeah, no, no,
- 3:02Speaker 4: these those guys are great man, and uh you know,
- 3:05Speaker 4: and and different levels you know within that, but I
- 3:09Speaker 4: you know, I tend to find and I don't know
- 3:11Speaker 4: the story of all these guys, but especially anyone that
- 3:14Speaker 4: used to be like a former athlete, like if anyone
- 3:16Speaker 4: played football or hockey or even like MMA or stuff
- 3:19Speaker 4: like that, they tend to just carry a body awareness
- 3:22Speaker 4: with them.
- 3:23Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:23Speaker 4: It's it's if you're you know, even just in college
- 3:26Speaker 4: for a couple of years played defensive back. You know,
- 3:29Speaker 4: you're learning to turn your hips and run and move
- 3:31Speaker 4: and put your hands up or you know, definitely any
- 3:33Speaker 4: sort of you know, karate, jiu jitsu, any of that stuff,
- 3:36Speaker 4: any fighting. You know, you are learning how to use
- 3:39Speaker 4: your body in multiple ways at once, and I can
- 3:42Speaker 4: get I can get a lot of dance moves out
- 3:43Speaker 4: of that.
- 3:44Speaker 3: It was.
- 3:45Speaker 2: It was impressive to I think the audience.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Uh.
- 3:48Speaker 2: In fact, I talked to a Bachelor producer today that
- 3:51Speaker 2: said that this date was their favorite group date they've
- 3:55Speaker 2: ever shot, that it was the most fun. And I
- 3:58Speaker 2: felt like, as a fan now of the show, when
- 4:02Speaker 2: I watched it, it was joy filled. There was a
- 4:06Speaker 2: lot of fun, a lot of commitment. And then I
- 4:10Speaker 2: was also impressed that every one of these guys, at
- 4:12Speaker 2: least from what we saw, just dove into this. Is
- 4:15Speaker 2: that what you experienced while you were filming it?
- 4:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that was.
- 4:19Speaker 4: It was a really fun process because of that. And
- 4:23Speaker 4: I think you're gonna hit the nail on the head
- 4:25Speaker 4: there that I've taught for a long time, I've been
- 4:30Speaker 4: not only dance captain here for a long time. I've
- 4:31Speaker 4: been dance captain to the other non review shows, like more
- 4:35Speaker 4: traditional song.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And dance shows.
- 4:37Speaker 4: I've taught a lot of dance to a lot of people,
- 4:39Speaker 4: and I can do it.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I know what I'm doing. The one thing I cannot.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Teach and cannot put in someone is the ability to
- 4:48Speaker 4: buy in and the ability to care right, So, you know,
- 4:51Speaker 4: having someone be braver, especially you know, it's think of
- 4:55Speaker 4: any skill you've tried that was out of your comfort
- 4:57Speaker 4: zone or a new skill, especially in front of people,
- 5:00Speaker 4: in front of people you're friends with, competing against, in
- 5:04Speaker 4: front of you know, these cameras that are going.
- 5:06Speaker 3: To be someone that's famillions of people.
- 5:09Speaker 4: It can be scary. It can be scary to jump in.
- 5:11Speaker 4: It can be scary by yourself alone with all that
- 5:13Speaker 4: other stuff going on. So these guys were just headfirst
- 5:18Speaker 4: into the deep, into the pool. And that's that's the
- 5:20Speaker 4: one thing I can't teach. And that's what makes it fun.
- 5:23Speaker 4: That's what actually helps people learn quicker and get into
- 5:27Speaker 4: it quicker is the ones that are like, all right,
- 5:29Speaker 4: we're doing this.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And every single one of those gentlemen had that, So
- 5:33Speaker 3: that was very fun.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Is there anything that we didn't see? I'm assuming you
- 5:39Speaker 2: saw last night's episode. If you didn't, that's okay, But
- 5:42Speaker 2: is there anything that wasn't shown that happened during this
- 5:46Speaker 2: whole day that you were like, gosh, I wish that
- 5:49Speaker 2: would have been shown or that really kind of was
- 5:51Speaker 2: a good memorable moment for you.
- 5:54Speaker 3: So yeah, full disclosure, I have not seen the episode yet.
- 5:56Speaker 4: So we did have a Chipendale show last night while
- 5:59Speaker 4: it was airing, and uh, I just came out afterwards,
- 6:01Speaker 4: spent a whole time with my wife and I haven't
- 6:03Speaker 4: gotten to it yet. But uh, but yeah, I I
- 6:08Speaker 4: there wasn't from my experience on the show, I don't know,
- 6:12Speaker 4: you know, I'm sure a couple of things on the
- 6:14Speaker 4: cuategy floor, but I don't think that because there wasn't
- 6:18Speaker 4: like multiple locations or multiple sections of this like you know,
- 6:23Speaker 4: especially compared to other TV that I've done, it seemed
- 6:26Speaker 4: pretty uh pretty honest as far as you know, I
- 6:29Speaker 4: almost didn't totally know in the best way.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I didn't totally know what to expect what was going
- 6:33Speaker 3: to go on. You know. They taught me like, hey,
- 6:35Speaker 3: these gonna be the guys. We want to teach them
- 6:37Speaker 3: a couple of moves.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Even when I asked for framework of like well, do
- 6:40Speaker 4: you want like a B and C or D E
- 6:42Speaker 4: enough like you do.
- 6:44Speaker 3: You have fun with it?
- 6:47Speaker 4: So yeah, once the the guys came in, even the
- 6:51Speaker 4: the little intro number that you know, the three classic
- 6:54Speaker 4: guys did and then the three current guys. Did you know,
- 6:57Speaker 4: we we set that on the spot because I didn't
- 6:59Speaker 4: know what to Say's just gonna be like with the room.
- 7:01Speaker 4: It's going to be like sometimes if you choreograph something
- 7:03Speaker 4: too much in advance, you get there, the room is
- 7:05Speaker 4: different in the time stiff, you got to redo it anyway,
- 7:07Speaker 4: So you know, the six of us all work together
- 7:09Speaker 4: and just set that up on the spot. And then
- 7:12Speaker 4: when the guys came in and you know, I honestly
- 7:14Speaker 4: met them, and then you know, there's three cameras around
- 7:16Speaker 4: the room and they were like, all right, go, So
- 7:20Speaker 4: I assume what what was showed on TV is uh,
- 7:26Speaker 4: you know, pretty pretty straightforward of what we actually did,
- 7:30Speaker 4: which was just come in and meet the guys.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Everyone's having fun, shake hands, start learning.
- 7:34Speaker 4: A couple of moves, do a little warm up, learning
- 7:37Speaker 4: video team, and then uh, you know, we took like
- 7:40Speaker 4: an hour or two when they all got into their
- 7:42Speaker 4: costumes and then we had to come out as honest,
- 7:44Speaker 4: honest fans there and sit in the audience and watch
- 7:46Speaker 4: it go down.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Was there anybody that surprised or impressed you? I mean,
- 7:50Speaker 2: for me, I look back, I think one, it was
- 7:53Speaker 2: awesome to see Charles come out and do what he did.
- 7:56Speaker 2: But also his name's but I call him Goldie. Uh
- 8:02Speaker 2: he ripped off his shirt. Let that you know, belly
- 8:06Speaker 2: just get shown. It was awesome. It was just such
- 8:09Speaker 2: a fun moment. Was there anybody else that like surprised
- 8:13Speaker 2: you as you watched it bat or as you were
- 8:14Speaker 2: watching in the audience.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll tell you exactly. To surprise me, every single
- 8:19Speaker 4: one of them. Okay, awesome and not to get like
- 8:22Speaker 4: a much of a cliche diplomatic answer, but no, the
- 8:26Speaker 4: the amount of buy in from all the guys, because
- 8:29Speaker 4: it's it's that's something you learned pretty fast doing our show.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Is that.
- 8:36Speaker 4: You know, there's you know, all of us are you know,
- 8:39Speaker 4: good look and all of us are in shape. But
- 8:41Speaker 4: but there could even be different degrees of that right there.
- 8:44Speaker 4: There's you know, sometimes I'm i feel like I'm in
- 8:46Speaker 4: good shape and I'm standing next to someone that's sticks
- 8:49Speaker 4: for two fifty you know, twenty eight ads, I'm like, ah,
- 8:53Speaker 4: but what matters more?
- 8:55Speaker 3: Than that your your actual size, your actual stature, or
- 8:59Speaker 3: you know.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of women and people that
- 9:02Speaker 4: come to our show, you know, of course they're here
- 9:04Speaker 4: for fit guys, but they care more about having fun
- 9:06Speaker 4: in the experience than than you absolutely having every tiny
- 9:11Speaker 4: little thing perfect. And when you when you buy them,
- 9:13Speaker 4: when you have fun, when you when you let it
- 9:16Speaker 4: loose and and you know you're able to enjoy the moment,
- 9:18Speaker 4: able to enjoy yourself, able to enjoy your own body
- 9:22Speaker 4: in a in a fond and comfortable way, right then
- 9:26Speaker 4: that's when the audience, that's when the.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Women, the customers, everyone at our.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Show has the most fun. And that's exactly what those
- 9:34Speaker 4: guys did, which was go out there. I think a
- 9:37Speaker 4: lot of people would rather when they're having when they
- 9:39Speaker 4: get a dance from someone, whether it's at a professional
- 9:41Speaker 4: show or it's just you know, your partner in your
- 9:43Speaker 4: room and you're you're having a good time, I think
- 9:46Speaker 4: you'd rather have them be in the moment than have
- 9:48Speaker 4: every tiny thing be quote unquote perfect.
- 9:51Speaker 3: So that's what those guys did.
- 9:52Speaker 4: They're they're dancing, they're they're living their bodies, they were
- 9:55Speaker 4: shaking things, they were sharing their joy with with the
- 10:00Speaker 4: rest of us, and that's absolutely the core principle that
- 10:04Speaker 4: makes it good.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right, that's right.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I know.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Also, this whole date supported stand Up to Cancer, and
- 10:11Speaker 2: so I'm sure that also helped everybody go, hey, I'm
- 10:15Speaker 2: just gonna let this thing loose because it's for a
- 10:18Speaker 2: good cause and it's a really fun experience.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:31Speaker 2: I have some rapid fire questions for you that were
- 10:33Speaker 2: not given to me by anybody. They're off the top
- 10:36Speaker 2: of my head. It's more out of curiosity. Do you
- 10:39Speaker 2: mind if I spend the next few moments and just
- 10:41Speaker 2: shoot them your way? Fire away, my friends, How in
- 10:45Speaker 2: the world do you end up being a chippendale dancer?
- 10:48Speaker 2: I never got asked because I am not the six
- 10:52Speaker 2: foot I am six foot four. I am not the
- 10:53Speaker 2: twenty eight abs type of guy. So I was never,
- 10:57Speaker 2: you know, recruited, But I'm very curious.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Yes, very long story short.
- 11:02Speaker 4: My entire I'm Vegas Wan and raised my entire family,
- 11:05Speaker 4: Uh were performers out here in Vegas.
- 11:08Speaker 3: My mom, when she retired, became a dance teacher.
- 11:10Speaker 4: So I grew up in the dance studio La Tap
- 11:13Speaker 4: Jazz Musical, theed I'm trained in all that since I
- 11:15Speaker 4: was twelve. I did sell and dance shows until I
- 11:19Speaker 4: was twenty eight, and I was doing a swim dance
- 11:22Speaker 4: show at a different hotel in Las Vegas and someone
- 11:25Speaker 4: from Shipp and Dale's just by happen Stance saw that show. Uh,
- 11:29Speaker 4: they wanted to recruit more trained dancers, and they were
- 11:33Speaker 4: trying to get more you know, uh, conditioned choreography into
- 11:37Speaker 4: the show, and so they found me there they asked
- 11:39Speaker 4: me to come over. Those two jobs were those two
- 11:42Speaker 4: shows were at different time, so I was able to
- 11:43Speaker 4: do both. Started at part time, fell in love real fast,
- 11:47Speaker 4: and I've been here for a decade now.
- 11:49Speaker 2: How many nights a week do you perform siks? Six
- 11:52Speaker 2: nights a week? How do you keep your body from
- 11:56Speaker 2: feeling every single injury that exists in your life if
- 12:00Speaker 2: you perform six days a week.
- 12:02Speaker 4: It's all the simple answers, you know, stretch, uh, work
- 12:06Speaker 4: out and healthy diet. You know it's it's you know
- 12:10Speaker 4: then the diet is not just for your for your
- 12:12Speaker 4: abs and for your gut. It's you know, you're you're
- 12:14Speaker 4: joints and your muscles. Thank you when you're eating well too.
- 12:18Speaker 2: You mentioned something that I think our listeners can gain
- 12:21Speaker 2: a lot of wisdom from, and that is to be
- 12:25Speaker 2: in the moment and to you know, just have fun
- 12:31Speaker 2: or you said joy, to experience that joy.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I'm sure you have bad days, we all do.
- 12:36Speaker 2: How do you if you're doing this six nights a
- 12:39Speaker 2: week after a bad day, prepare yourself to go out
- 12:43Speaker 2: on that stage and perform so that the people watching
- 12:47Speaker 2: enjoy it and that you are experiencing some joy.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Well, the good news is is my favorite place in
- 12:55Speaker 4: the world is on the stage, and and particularly that stage.
- 13:00Speaker 4: So it's usually the other way around. If I'm having
- 13:03Speaker 4: a bad day, I'm looking forward to it because that's
- 13:06Speaker 4: the remedy for me. That's you know, it makes me present,
- 13:10Speaker 4: you know, it puts me in the moment. It just
- 13:13Speaker 4: look out there and see smiling tastes. I'm sure there's
- 13:15Speaker 4: some form of ego involved in this where yeah, all right,
- 13:18Speaker 4: people are cheering for the stage, and that of course
- 13:20Speaker 4: feels good. But it really does warm me up to
- 13:24Speaker 4: look out there and to see you know, however, many
- 13:27Speaker 4: one hundred and fifty people, two hundred people really forgetting
- 13:30Speaker 4: about their their bad day, right, or forgetting about the
- 13:34Speaker 4: all the craziness in the world right now, and they're
- 13:35Speaker 4: just present as well, so there's not a lot of prep.
- 13:40Speaker 3: It's usually I'm looking forward to being like, all right, I.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Am lucky enough to have an able body that I
- 13:45Speaker 4: get to use, and for some reason, all these people
- 13:49Speaker 4: care and then we get to have fun together for
- 13:53Speaker 4: an hour and a half.
- 13:55Speaker 2: It's one of my favorite questions. But this is your
- 13:58Speaker 2: you know where you said your remedy, it is your focus,
- 14:00Speaker 2: it is your profession. We got to see it highlighted
- 14:04Speaker 2: on The Golden Bachelor at when somebody comes to your show,
- 14:10Speaker 2: what do you hope they leave feeling, thinking, experiencing.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I hope they feeling better, you know, even if it's
- 14:19Speaker 3: just a little bit. I hope they have fun. Both
- 14:25Speaker 3: sides have fun. Yeah, no, but but it is that simple, right.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I've seen, you know, families come in love with like
- 14:30Speaker 3: mother and daughter come or grandmother mother daughter. I've seen that.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Combination and they have both family bonding time. I see
- 14:35Speaker 4: quite often people who come either solo or groups of
- 14:38Speaker 4: two will make friends with other groups and they literally
- 14:40Speaker 4: walk out of there with new people that they've they've
- 14:43Speaker 4: met in the show, and oh my god, we're all
- 14:45Speaker 4: going to a drace together. We had so much fun
- 14:46Speaker 4: at the show. You know, it's one of the clothes
- 14:48Speaker 4: here in Vegas. So yeah, I I you know, moments
- 14:52Speaker 4: like that are the ones I treasure.
- 14:53Speaker 3: So I just, you know, I hope you know.
- 14:56Speaker 4: I don't know, the world is crazy and we all
- 14:59Speaker 4: got first battles going on, and I don't know how
- 15:01Speaker 4: to fix all that, but I do know that I
- 15:03Speaker 4: can create a little bit of light. So I hope
- 15:05Speaker 4: that that people get fun and joy and peace for
- 15:08Speaker 4: just a little bit.
- 15:08Speaker 2: The final question for you is you mentioned your wife
- 15:14Speaker 2: that you're married. Does she come to your show? And
- 15:16Speaker 2: when she does, because I'm assuming she does, I guess
- 15:19Speaker 2: if she does, that's even more of a curious response.
- 15:24Speaker 2: What is her typical like response when she sees you
- 15:28Speaker 2: up there doing your thing.
- 15:30Speaker 4: So I'm really like dropping the W bomb hard right
- 15:33Speaker 4: now because I got married two weeks ago, so let's go.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you very much. No, she's the best, and
- 15:41Speaker 3: that's why we're married.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 3: So she she's a current nurse, but a former performer herself.
- 15:49Speaker 3: She did a few Las Vegas shows out here as well,
- 15:51Speaker 3: so she very much understands the world, understands the industry.
- 15:55Speaker 4: She might be the most supportive human that has ever existed,
- 15:59Speaker 4: and that, yeah, she'll come to the show. I mean,
- 16:02Speaker 4: it's it comes in waves. But you know, when she's
- 16:04Speaker 4: she's very proud of it. I'm very honored that she's
- 16:07Speaker 4: very proud of it. So she has friends or family
- 16:09Speaker 4: in town, she'll she'll pop by the show. She also
- 16:12Speaker 4: it's very fun for me that I'm very close to
- 16:15Speaker 4: my management team, and my management team very much loves her.
- 16:19Speaker 4: The guys love her too, but but it's especially that
- 16:21Speaker 4: the managers. You know, when she comes in to see
- 16:23Speaker 4: my bosses light up and give her a big hug,
- 16:26Speaker 4: and you know, they'll a.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Lot of times she'll watch the show in the back

- 16:40Speaker 4: you know, I very much understand that this is it
- 16:43Speaker 4: could potentially be you know, a landmine of a of
- 16:46Speaker 4: a job for a relationship, and you know, I think
- 16:50Speaker 4: the successful relationships I've seen in the show, it really
- 16:52Speaker 4: goes both ways. You have really understanding partners and then
- 16:55Speaker 4: you know, being in the show having you know, making
- 17:00Speaker 4: sure that she feels loved and supported and taking care
- 17:03Speaker 4: of him that you know, if I'm creating an atmosphere
- 17:06Speaker 4: where the show isn't an issue, then that makes it
- 17:08Speaker 4: easier as well.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Congrats on the marriage, Ryan, that's an awesome step, awesome deal,
- 17:14Speaker 2: and it's great to hear that you have a partner

- 17:33Speaker 2: wants to find you in Vegas, not in a creepy way,
- 17:36Speaker 2: but to watch you perform, where do they go?

- 18:25Speaker 2: ups in a row who's six foot four, doesn't have
- 18:28Speaker 2: an ab to show, but they're in there somewhere, and
- 18:30Speaker 2: I can move my body like one of those bullet
- 18:32Speaker 2: machines at the car washes, you know, they kind of
- 18:35Speaker 2: go like that.

- 18:39Speaker 3: you some cuffs and collarilers immediately. Deal.
