Latest / What's Your (Least) Favorite Scary Movie? / #203: Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
Transcript
- 0:06Hello, What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10Oh, bother. Don't.
- 0:12Bother. And welcome to What's your least
- 0:15favorite scary movie? The broadcast where we talk
- 0:17about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the absurd, and all of
- 0:20our favorite. And least favorite.
- 0:21Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:23movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:25Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:28My name is Jesse and Happy April, everyone.
- 0:33So the recent release of Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey Two,
- 0:38and the announcement of the extended punaverse, we decided
- 0:42we were gonna dupe our toes into blood and honey.
- 0:46Yeah, dipping it into blood and honey.
- 0:49Hot. But first, a brief announcement
- 0:54budget to your patrons. Your bonus episode for March was
- 0:58uploaded over the weekend, and we talked about unedited footage
- 1:01of a bear. Oh God.
- 1:04If you're not a budget tier patron but would like to be so
- 1:06that way you can have access to that and plenty of other cool
- 1:09perks. The link to our Patreon is at
- 1:11the very bottom of our show notes on this very episode.
- 1:16We also uploaded our two VR not to be on Bloody Bloody Bible
- 1:19camp, so go check that out if you haven't already.
- 1:23I think that's it from my announcements.
- 1:25Travis, do we have poll results? We do.
- 1:27We have our poll for Jigsaw. So as you guys know, at this
- 1:32point all of our saw movies are polls about which of the traps
- 1:36you would survive. So I got four traps here that I
- 1:40am asking if you guys could survive any of these.
- 1:42So four of them are the Buckethead trap, the Pick, the
- 1:47Syringe trap, the Curly fry machine, and the Shotgun key.
- 1:51So we'll start it off with Twitter. 43% says that they
- 1:55could survive the Buckethead trap, 14% could survive the Pick
- 1:59the syringe, 14% could survive the curly fry machine, and 29%
- 2:05could survive the shotgun key. Over on Instagram, 22% on
- 2:09Buckethead, 56% on the syringe, nobody's making it out of the
- 2:13curly fry machine, and 22% the shotgun key.
- 2:17Side note, I'm really glad that we are just fully embracing my
- 2:22referring to it as the curly fry machine.
- 2:24I was torn between calling it the turbine and the curly fry
- 2:27machine. I was not sure if turbine was
- 2:30the correct word and I liked curly fry machine because maybe
- 2:33that was his inspiration. We don't know he.
- 2:36Doesn't like curly fries. Yeah, John Kramer probably
- 2:40doesn't for some weird bullshit reason.
- 2:41They're. Like, not very serious fries.
- 2:44They're not self respecting, yeah.
- 2:46Inferior shape. Inferior.
- 2:49Starch. Yeah, I, in the last episode
- 2:53said the buck I had one is the one that I could survive.
- 2:55And I mean, yeah, that's the one that I would be able to survive
- 2:58the most. So I could.
- 2:59It seems the easiest to me. It doesn't seem the easiest
- 3:02because half of them end up with like wounds all along their
- 3:06backs. Oh yeah, but they could have
- 3:08done the finger thing that Mitch tried to do until he fucked it
- 3:11up. No, Mitch was on the wrong track
- 3:13with the finger thing. You won't convince me otherwise.
- 3:16OK, agree to disagree. We also had people say the
- 3:19shotgun one was easy, which I am calling bullshit on.
- 3:22It's easy in hindsight, but I don't think it's super easy
- 3:26whenever it's like in the moment.
- 3:29I do a lot of crossword puzzles. I have the kind of lateral
- 3:33thinking that I think works well in a saw trap.
- 3:36I don't. I'm doomed.
- 3:38I think I said I could do the syringe one because, like, those
- 3:42numbers weren't even close. If you know you killed somebody
- 3:44and pulled in less than $5, yeah, that's an easy answer.
- 3:48That one right there is easy. She should have been able to get
- 3:50that one pretty easily. But yeah, that one.
- 3:52I feel like that's probably the most winnable batch of traps out
- 3:56of all of them. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:59Well, I mean, it was his first time he he was fresh off of his
- 4:01Imagineer it. Was his first time, but he had
- 4:04100% kill rate on it, so I don't know actually, nobody died in
- 4:08the bug. I had one.
- 4:09Never mind, somebody should have died.
- 4:11Yeah, I mean, he rescued Logan. Where Logan rescued him, I don't
- 4:15know. It's like.
- 4:16They saved each other. Yeah.
- 4:18It's like whenever, like the dog.
- 4:20Yeah. Saved me.
- 4:21I didn't save. You.
- 4:22Yeah. Who adopted who saved who?
- 4:24Who adopted you? Adopted me.
- 4:27I don't care. Whatever.
- 4:30All right, that's it. That's it for the poll.
- 4:32So I I think it's time for us to get into our movie for this
- 4:35week. All right, Winnie the Pooh Blood
- 4:38and Honey had a limited release on February 15th, 2023, with a
- 4:42wider release in the UK on March 17th, 2023.
- 4:45It was kind of like a staggered release worldwide, but.
- 4:47That's interesting. This thing had a shit ton of
- 4:50hype leading up to its premiere. It did mostly 'cause people were
- 4:53aghast that they were making a Winnie the Pooh.
- 4:57How did they were like, that's so stupid.
- 4:59What a cash card, which I've got a fun quote about that.
- 5:03I've got thoughts on that too here in a little.
- 5:05Bit We watched it on Peacock, but as of the end of March you
- 5:09could stream it on Peacock or rent it from Fandango at home
- 5:12Prime, YouTube or Google Play. Again, this is one of those
- 5:17weird transitional weekends for us where we're recording the
- 5:20rights tend to roll over at the beginning of the month.
- 5:23It's been on Peacock ever since it debuted and it has a little
- 5:26banner at the bottom too, saying only on Peacock.
- 5:29Does it? Yeah, I missed that.
- 5:30I think that they have an exclusive streaming deal with
- 5:32them, Okay for now at least. The script is written by Reese
- 5:36Frank Waterfield, based on characters by A.
- 5:39A Milne, directed by Reese Frank Waterfield, music by Andrew
- 5:43Scott Bell, and special effects make up by David Foxley and
- 5:46Rebecca Wheeler. They were actually in charge of
- 5:48like prosthetics starring Nikolai Leon as Christopher
- 5:52Robin. Maria Taylor is Maria, Natasha
- 5:55Rose Mill is Jessica, Amber Doig Thomas is Alice, Danielle Ronald
- 6:01as Zoe, Natasha Tosini as Lara, Paula Croys as Mary, Paula Croys
- 6:07as Mary Craig, David Dousett as Winnie the Pooh, and Chris
- 6:12Cardell as Piglet and the Stalker.
- 6:16Oh, OK. Wow.
- 6:19Travis, it's time for our favorite game budget.
- 6:21Oh. Bug Ted.
- 6:23This is very queerly a Bug Ted movie, yes.
- 6:27So according to IMDb, it's $100,000 budget.
- 6:30According to Wikipedia and other sources, it's a $50,000 budget.
- 6:33We all know that they tend to inflate their budget, so I'm
- 6:35going to guess that the $50,000 is more accurate.
- 6:38Yeah, did. You'll probably have information
- 6:43on if it's like a crowdsourcing or not.
- 6:45I thought it was. I don't actually have that
- 6:47information. OK, for some reason I thought
- 6:49that it was crowdsourced. I don't know.
- 6:51I don't know why I thought that this feels like a movie that
- 6:54would have been crowdsourced. Yeah, I have no clue.
- 6:57In an opening box office in US and Canada, $652,000 and a
- 7:01worldwide gross of this is one of those.
- 7:04That's a little bit different. On IMDb it says 4.9 million and
- 7:07on Wikipedia it said 5.2 million, so right around $5
- 7:10million. Pretty damn good ROI.
- 7:12Yeah, and an IMDb score of the lowest IMDb score we've had
- 7:19outside of A2V or not. Speed movie.
- 7:20It is a 2.9. It's a 2.9, it's.
- 7:23A 2.9 I don't even think troll 2 is that low.
- 7:26I didn't think people hated it that much.
- 7:28I knew people hated this movie, but I didn't think it was that
- 7:31bad. I picked 3 movies from 2023 and
- 7:37they are all what I'm calling childhood trauma movies.
- 7:41Okay, that's very appropriate. So the first ones, Five Nights
- 7:45at Freddy's. That's so fitting for this,
- 7:47yeah. I saw that I was like, well,
- 7:49there's my thing that released October 27th, 2023 also can
- 7:54watch that on Peacock. It had a budget of $20 million.
- 7:59Actually, Travis is a you've just had several months of Josh
- 8:02Hutcherson, 'cause we watched that and then I put you through
- 8:06all The Hunger Games maybe. Yeah, I've seen that boy a lot.
- 8:09You've seen him progress from butcher's son or a Baker's son
- 8:14to to a man with a with a sister daughter.
- 8:19A man with a sister, daughter and also a man running a well
- 8:23not running, but working at a pizza place.
- 8:27I don't fucking know. One time.
- 8:28Yeah, he's a Kentucky boy. I.
- 8:29Like him? Yeah, That had a budget of $20
- 8:33million and a worldwide ghost of $291 million.
- 8:37Blumhouse, Go and Blumhouse you know.
- 8:39Well, that's also such a huge property.
- 8:42Yeah, there was no way that movie was not gonna make money.
- 8:45It didn't have an IMDb score of 5.5 out of 10.
- 8:48That's a lot better than I expected.
- 8:49Yeah, honestly. Like we watched it and enjoyed
- 8:52it, but we've never played Five Nights at Freddy's and know
- 8:55nothing about the lore. So for us, it was just a movie.
- 8:58I know some of the war because I like there was a point where I
- 9:01like I watched those videos like 10 years ago where people were
- 9:04deep diving into it and then I just kind of stopped.
- 9:07So I got off that train pretty fast.
- 9:10The next one is based off of Stephen King property and it's
- 9:13called the Boogeyman. Oh, the boogeyman.
- 9:15That was released June 2nd, 2023, Had a budget of $35
- 9:20million and a worldwide gross of 67.3 million.
- 9:25IMDb score of 5.9 out of 10. OK, we haven't seen that one
- 9:29yet. I am too engrossed in my
- 9:31feelings of the original Boogeyman trilogy that came out.
- 9:35And I get that this is Stephen King and it's something totally
- 9:37different, but my brain can't, can't separate them.
- 9:40Yeah, that's all. That's what I always think about
- 9:41too. Yeah.
- 9:42And then it's got the second one has Stoben Bell right.
- 9:45Yeah, and 2nd and maybe third. Did they make references to him
- 9:49in the third? I can't.
- 9:50I think there's a. Picture of him yeah 'cause I
- 9:52think that's his daughter that goes to.
- 9:54School. And that's right, yeah, weird.
- 9:57A little series there. Yeah, it gets for me, for my
- 10:00taste, it gets progressively better.
- 10:02Yeah, some people might disagree.
- 10:06OK. And the third movie I have is
- 10:07one that we haven't watched yet either.
- 10:09But I've heard a lot of good things about and it's called
- 10:11Cobweb. Oh, I've heard a shit ton of
- 10:13good. Stuff about that movie.
- 10:15My hair stylist was telling me about it and she was like, I
- 10:17feel like you'd really like it. I think that we would, yeah.
- 10:21That was released October 20th, 2023.
- 10:23I'm pretty sure it went straight to streaming, I know.
- 10:25I had a theatrical. Really.
- 10:26Did it have a theatrical? A very small one.
- 10:28OK, Yeah 'cause I remember seeing people go out to go see
- 10:31it, I think. OK.
- 10:34It was very small, like it snuck out whenever another big
- 10:38release, I think whenever Talk to me came out 'cause like.
- 10:40No, talk to me was in August 'cause we saw it on your
- 10:43birthday. Oh, really?
- 10:45OK, then maybe it didn't have one.
- 10:47I remember a lot of people talking about Cobweb during like
- 10:50Talk to Me's release, and people were kind of pissed off that
- 10:53Cobweb has like like flew under the radar.
- 10:58Well, the only reason that I say it, 'cause I knew it was on
- 11:00Hulu, but I didn't hear much about it and I don't have a
- 11:02budget for it, OK? So that's why I kind of assumed
- 11:05it went straight to streaming. Also, the worldwide gross is 8
- 11:09million, which isn't bad. Yeah, I had a worldwide gross.
- 11:12That tells me it went to some theaters.
- 11:14That was you don't generally get this like the DVD, Blu-ray,
- 11:18streaming revenue for that stuff.
- 11:20Fair enough. And that has an IMDb score of 6
- 11:23point O out of 10 right now. OK, that's actually kind of
- 11:26lower than I thought it would be, considering all the hype
- 11:28I've heard of it. OK so I've got 3 tag lines.
- 11:33First one. Of them.
- 11:34Please, bitch. Better have my honey.
- 11:37Oh my God, no. But that's our tag line.
- 11:40Yeah, we haven't even talked about any of it.
- 11:42But yeah, bitch better have my honey.
- 11:44Come on, man. Like, it's right there.
- 11:46It's amazing. I feel like I'm cheating by even
- 11:48saying that. No, that's great.
- 11:51That's gonna be a real let down for these.
- 11:54Oh, OK. The first one, the one that's on
- 11:56the DVD cover. This ain't no bedtime story.
- 11:59OK, I mean, I I like that because it's kind of like, hey,
- 12:04ain't the Winnie the Pooh. You think it might be able,
- 12:06Like, I I feel like this could also.
- 12:08I mean, it's got blood in the title, but I think there's some
- 12:11people that are still like, they just see Winnie the Pooh and
- 12:14stop reading and they're like, oh, hey, OK, there's a new
- 12:17Winnie the Pooh movie. Let's go take the kids.
- 12:20OK, second one, a horror retelling of the famous legend
- 12:24of Winnie the Pooh. I feel like calling it a legend
- 12:26is a. Bold.
- 12:30It was a thing that we enjoyed as a sad cat.
- 12:32Children and a Disney property after a while.
- 12:35It's it's 100 year old story. But you know, I would not call
- 12:38it a legend. And finally, we'll be friends
- 12:42forever, won't we? Oh.
- 12:45Sad. That one is sad.
- 12:47Oh my God, this movie does kind of get sad.
- 12:49It makes you real sad, like, oh man.
- 12:53OK, I'm sure we'll talk about it You.
- 12:55Can't. There's no way you can avoid it
- 12:57with the opening of this thing. OK so I got some fun facts.
- 13:01It was made after the book entered public domain on January
- 13:051st, 2022. It was shot in 10 days in
- 13:08Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, England.
- 13:11The masks were created by Immortal Masks which is an
- 13:15American based prosthetic mask manufacturing company.
- 13:18OK, so that's where those masks come from.
- 13:21It's always fun to know where they're where they originate.
- 13:24They're really good masks. I I really, really like the
- 13:26masks. They're really good masks -1
- 13:29thing, which I'll talk about when we get to it.
- 13:33So Reese's original script, the first draft, the plot was a lot
- 13:38closer to the original source material.
- 13:40You know the book by a. A Milne.
- 13:42Except Disney still owns several.
- 13:48Let's see, how did I write it down?
- 13:50Disney still has exclusive rights to depictions of some of
- 13:54the characters from its own franchise.
- 13:56Yes. So he had to change quite a bit
- 13:59of his original draft to not you know, be sued into non existence
- 14:05by Disney. See, this is the thing I've
- 14:07actually been really interested in here lately, and I've done a
- 14:09lot of deep diving on. Have you?
- 14:11Did you do like, any additional research?
- 14:13I don't want to steal any of your stuff.
- 14:14No. So, like, with this stuff right
- 14:17here. Yeah, that, like Winnie the Pooh
- 14:20is technically public domain now.
- 14:21But yeah, Disney had their own depiction of it.
- 14:25So, like, they probably can't have him wearing just a red
- 14:28T-shirt and like, nothing on, because that's the Disney.
- 14:32Yeah. Like characterization of that
- 14:35character. It's the same thing with Mickey
- 14:39Mouse. Right now.
- 14:40Mickey Mickey Mouse is technically public domain also,
- 14:43and it's only one type though, it's the Steamboat.
- 14:46Willy. Yeah, and any other depiction of
- 14:50Mickey Mouse, you can still get sued the hell and back for using
- 14:52them. And I think that they're trying
- 14:53to get around having him hit public domain by making him the
- 14:59logo, which smart. I'd also fuck you because, like
- 15:04public domain. Like, I like the idea of like
- 15:06having this shit, like actually be out there for people.
- 15:09I get it for them because like that's their whole business, is
- 15:12that shit. But they built their whole
- 15:13fucking business on this shit when they did the Grimm tells.
- 15:17Yeah, you know what I mean? Like it's so hypocritical of
- 15:19them to be like so controlling over something like this when
- 15:23they made so much profit on telling other people's stories
- 15:27and characters. Yeah, like, I have so many mixed
- 15:29feelings about Disney. Obviously, I grew up on Disney.
- 15:31I love Disney. I'm still kind of a Disney
- 15:33adult, you know what I mean? Yeah, I it's been a huge part of
- 15:38my life. I've got a fucking Lion King
- 15:39tattoo, you know? And I love that they're giving
- 15:44DeSantis all the trouble in the world in Florida right now.
- 15:47That's great, but there's a certain level of wealth that's
- 15:50just unethical, even for like, a corporation.
- 15:53The mouse is like way too big. Yeah, and it's definitely, it's
- 15:57starting to like, monopolize the entertainment industry in a way
- 15:59that's not great. Yeah.
- 16:02So yeah, mixed feelings about it.
- 16:04I will say one last thing. There is like there's like a lot
- 16:08of stuff like this coming out. There's a Steamboat Willie
- 16:11inspired video game coming out, though.
- 16:13It's a first person shooter. Well, and I know one of them
- 16:16maybe is what's coming out in the extended punaverse is
- 16:20Pinocchio. Pinocchio and Bambi.
- 16:22And Bambi, That one's going to be rough for me, Bambi.
- 16:25How the fuck can you do Bambi? Like it's going to get so dark.
- 16:28Yeah, I was going to say I know I told you last night I couldn't
- 16:32basically that Fox and the Hound was essentially a no go in the
- 16:35house, 'cause I got too emotional about it.
- 16:37That wasn't the only one, 'cause there was also Bambi and Dumbo.
- 16:41I got very distraught with all of them.
- 16:43Didn't you have, didn't you tell me a story about like somebody
- 16:45whose mom stopped Bambi? Like whenever the mom got killed
- 16:51and it's like that's the end of it.
- 16:52OK, that's on friends. Oh, that's on friends.
- 16:55Yeah, that was Phoebe. 'S mom shit.
- 16:57OK, but I did tell you about my friend who tried to convince me
- 17:01that Hocus Pocus ends after Thackery Binks gets run.
- 17:04Over. That's it and I.
- 17:06Was like, no, absolutely not. And she goes, yeah, that's how
- 17:08it ends. I was like, no, I've seen it.
- 17:09She goes, no, that's how it ends.
- 17:10And then I was distraught and I came home and told my mom, So my
- 17:13mom had to go fucking Blockbuster and rent me the
- 17:16movies. That way I can know that Binks
- 17:17didn't die. OK, they're very similar
- 17:20stories. That's why I got it mixed up.
- 17:21Yeah. Wow, I can't believe I mixed it
- 17:23up with friends. OK.
- 17:25Sorry, go ahead. OK, so Andrew Scott Bell who did
- 17:29the music for this? He actually he went with his
- 17:35manager and purchased a honeycomb filled violin from a
- 17:42an experimental luthier and use that to compose the soundtrack.
- 17:46That's so cool. And then I've got a really cool
- 17:49quote about why he wanted to join the film, why he wanted to
- 17:51join the film. So back in late May, a day or so
- 17:54before the film went massively viral, I started seeing some
- 17:57online chatter about a Winnie the Pooh horror movie.
- 17:59I remember looking it up on IMDb and finding the director, Reese
- 18:02Frank Waterfield, in an on Instagram, where his story had a
- 18:06screenshot of a person's comment.
- 18:07Saying something to the effect of your movie is ruining our
- 18:10childhoods. His reaction was that's what I'm
- 18:12trying to do, ruin everyone's childhoods.
- 18:15That's funny. So I just kind of like that.
- 18:17I like that they're like purposely, like taking something
- 18:20beloved and they're making it sick and twisted because
- 18:22sometimes it's where some of the most fun horror stuff lies.
- 18:24I like. It.
- 18:26Yeah, so that's all my fun facts.
- 18:28And now I'm so ready for us to talk about the good, the bad,
- 18:30the ugly, and the absurd. All right, cool.
- 18:32I I pulled at you because we watched this a couple days ago
- 18:36and I made a lot of notes on the side of my paper and they're all
- 18:39out of order, so I didn't mark them.
- 18:40I I marked mine down. It's like good, bad, ugly.
- 18:43And then? Yeah, but mine's like good, bad,
- 18:44absurd, absurd, bad, good, bad. It's.
- 18:47Not a bad way to do it, Sir. So I am gonna go out on a limb
- 18:51here and I'm gonna tell everybody that taking a popular
- 18:56character and telling this type of story is good old fashioned
- 18:59exploitation right there. Postproitation.
- 19:03That's what one of our friends referred to it as, and I
- 19:05appreciate that terminology. I do too.
- 19:07And The thing is like, yeah, it's the whole point is to take
- 19:12this thing that is so part of like our childhood culture and
- 19:17make like a horror theme thing based out of it.
- 19:21And that's going to drive a lot of attention, like exploitation.
- 19:25One of the things about it is like taking stuff like that and
- 19:29trying to like gain use it to its advantage so it can become
- 19:34like popular. Like you know what I mean?
- 19:35Like take like a public, a publicly known material like
- 19:40this and now that it is free for people to use, like they can
- 19:42fucking do their own thing with it and capitalize on people's
- 19:46interests on that. Well, also like a lot of horror
- 19:48is just taking like normal parts of our day-to-day lives and
- 19:52being like, but wouldn't it be scary if this?
- 19:54Yeah. And you know, I kind of like
- 19:56this. I mean, honestly, what where is
- 19:59the line between Child's Play and Toy Story, you know?
- 20:03Yeah. Well, they live in the same kind
- 20:05of universe. Pretty much, yeah.
- 20:07I mean it's it's very similar type of thing.
- 20:10But I mean like the thing I'm talking about like this is like
- 20:13it's like how Full Moon Pictures is releasing Barbenheimer, you
- 20:18know what I mean? They're capitalizing on public
- 20:20interest in the thing here and trying to like profit off of it
- 20:24and make like art based off of it, I mean.
- 20:26Fuck, we're talking about this movie specifically.
- 20:29This wasn't our original plan for this week, but the
- 20:32announcement of all of these upcoming movies and the release
- 20:34of the second one, we're like we should probably just ahead and
- 20:37talk. About it.
- 20:38Let's join the hype on it. Yeah, I I get it.
- 20:40Yeah. So I like it for that.
- 20:44I don't knock it for that. I give it props for doing that.
- 20:47Another thing I like about this movie is I love the Pooh design.
- 20:50I think that it is a great take on the character, like coveralls
- 20:56with the red flannel and the face.
- 20:59So fucking effective. So, and that was actually
- 21:01something I was gonna talk about too, this movie, I was kind of
- 21:04like, I didn't really have strong opinions about it one way
- 21:07or the other, but there was somebody at Scare Fest doing a
- 21:10Winnie the Pooh cosplay, and he nailed it and seeing it in
- 21:14person. So fucking scary.
- 21:17Yeah, it was like it was honestly frightening.
- 21:20Really. Like no shit.
- 21:21Y'all like this guy could have come straight from set from that
- 21:24movie. He looked exactly like same body
- 21:26frame. And everything.
- 21:27If you told me that it was Craig Craig, David Dousett, I would
- 21:32have believed. You.
- 21:33We talked to him too, and he's like, yeah, I dressed as this
- 21:35other guy the other day too. It's like, oh, I saw that too.
- 21:37That one was also awesome. He's just really good at playing
- 21:41bigger word killers. I will say that.
- 21:44I thought that the piglet mask was kind of he's just a fucking
- 21:47pig with tusks. I.
- 21:48Like that they gave him tusks because piglets whole thing in
- 21:51the original is being a little tiny pig baby.
- 21:54I know. Yeah.
- 21:55So him growing up, I like, I was like, well, I never considered
- 21:58him being a bore, but you know. Yeah.
- 22:00I mean, OK, Yeah, sure. I like that he had signature
- 22:02weapons too. He had them change, yeah.
- 22:05And his little mallet. He had mallet.
- 22:07Yeah, the Pooh have poo had some weird shit going on.
- 22:11I'm going to get into here in a. Little bit.
- 22:13I've got a punch out for poo stuff.
- 22:17And like it just this movie just reminds me of like whenever I
- 22:22watch this, I got the feel of like I could swap on some grain
- 22:27on there and like make it a mono track.
- 22:29This thing could have come straight from like the 80s.
- 22:32You know what I. Mean like this thing?
- 22:34It plays out like an old school slasher and I really, really
- 22:38enjoyed that. OK.
- 22:42Do you have any other goods? No, go ahead.
- 22:43OK, this movie definitely has some homages to other horror
- 22:47movies, and I love it when you can tell that a movie is coming
- 22:49from a horror fan. Yeah, the ones that I noticed
- 22:52right away. The storyline feels very like
- 22:55Friday the 13th remake to me, 'cause we start off with like
- 22:58Christopher Robin and Mary and then we cut to this other group
- 23:02of people and eventually leads back around to him and he's got
- 23:04to close out his whole chapter and his whole storyline hostel
- 23:10with Charlene seeing her eye in the mirror.
- 23:13And I thought of that too. I thought she was going to kill
- 23:16herself then. And then also Halloween kills
- 23:19where the international gang of rednecks starts attacking.
- 23:24I wrote in my notes they're trying to kill evil tonight.
- 23:30Like that was straight up from Halloween Kills right there.
- 23:33So I yeah, I I loved all of those little nods to other
- 23:37horror franchises. I also thought it had some good
- 23:40tension at certain points, like the storyline with Maria's
- 23:44soccer that. Was fucking creepy it.
- 23:47Was so creepy. And it was done so, like,
- 23:49respectfully, which it's weird to say on an exploitation film,
- 23:55but the whole reason that she's there is they're trying to
- 23:59disconnect and help her deal with some of the PTSD she's been
- 24:02going through. Therapist recommended a
- 24:04disconnect weekend. Yeah, so they're all there and
- 24:07she tells them the story. She hasn't even told all of her
- 24:09friends yet, which is also a very realistic thing.
- 24:12And I like that. It didn't get like super graphic
- 24:14stalking and all the stuff that goes along with that.
- 24:16And I appreciate the way they told the story.
- 24:18It was creepy, it was realistic and honestly, it was kind of
- 24:22respectful in the way it was done.
- 24:23The thing that like got me with that one is like with movies and
- 24:27TV shows like that. Like I see the trope.
- 24:29I mean like I guess you could call it a trope, but like points
- 24:33where they take somebody and they like stalk somebody and
- 24:36they watch them sweep and they break in.
- 24:37They like, stand over them or something like that.
- 24:39I've never seen one where a guy tries to undress the girl in her
- 24:43sleep before and that really, really made me uncomfortable.
- 24:48Like I was like, what the fuck? Yeah.
- 24:50And the way the guy did it was just like watching him do it and
- 24:53like, you're like, Oh my God, no.
- 24:55Yeah, it was so fucking. Weird.
- 24:56And like just her talking about little things.
- 24:58Like she was like, I would just go out and like my back patio
- 25:01and I'd see like my chair had been moved or, you know, things
- 25:04were missing and like, it was weird.
- 25:06Yeah, you know, like it's always like little things like that,
- 25:08that you start to get kind of paranoid and you brush off and
- 25:11then it like, you know, it escalated for her.
- 25:13So I thought that that that was like, really?
- 25:17I'm glad that they didn't make it poo or piglet though, 'cause
- 25:19that would have been really. Weird.
- 25:20I mean, they did technically make it piglet, but it was just,
- 25:22'cause it was, you know, the same actor, which we kind of
- 25:25talked about in RTV or not to be coverage, you know, reusing
- 25:29actors. We talked about that in our
- 25:30Patreon. Wasn't in the Patreon.
- 25:32Was the twin. No, I feel like we did, Yeah.
- 25:34With Tim Sullivan. You're right.
- 25:35Yeah, Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 25:35Yeah, yeah. I thought maybe Tim Sullivan was
- 25:38just used as like a body, though.
- 25:39Yeah, that's right, body. And then the other thing, that
- 25:44car kill for Laura, that was I've never seen it dine in such
- 25:49a way where somebody's head gets run over, they pause on the
- 25:52head, you see her head not quite exploding yet because of it.
- 25:56Like that was so fucking gross. And I mean that in the best way.
- 26:01Is like a horror fan. I really like the subversion of
- 26:04Piglet Dragon, the mallet over there, or the switch hammer and
- 26:08like not killing her with it but using it to pin her down so Pooh
- 26:11could do that. Yeah, like.
- 26:13Oh fuck, that's extra nasty. Yeah, and I love, I love it.
- 26:16I piglet hog ties people all the time.
- 26:18Yeah, that's a nice little. I like that too.
- 26:21A. Little bit, Yeah.
- 26:22OK. What's your dad?
- 26:25I think that this thing has some pretty poor acting, you know, I
- 26:30mean that goes into like the cheap exploitation 80s movie
- 26:32thing. But like, it gets to the point
- 26:34to where I was like some of the people are just not super up to
- 26:39stuff with their acting. I think Christopher wasn't
- 26:41exactly the best one. I think some of the friends.
- 26:44Or was it his dialogue? Because I feel like they didn't
- 26:48give him a lot to work with because he's going?
- 26:50No, I had to go away. I didn't have a choice.
- 26:53I had to. I had to.
- 26:54No. Did they just tell him to, like
- 26:57beg for his life and that's all he could come up with?
- 26:59Or was that what he was told to say?
- 27:02Be careful because we don't want to get Disney on her back.
- 27:04She's going to say these lines, say it just like this.
- 27:08Yeah, you got to play really careful with this right here.
- 27:12I think that her friend group, though, was probably the worst
- 27:15batch of them. I also just kind of thought that
- 27:20like, it took me so long to get their names.
- 27:23I hate I I get it that they wanna like do it in a natural
- 27:27way, but if you're gonna naturally introduce it, have
- 27:30people using each other's names just make it happen.
- 27:33Yeah, just yeah, you can, like, make it organic, like it can
- 27:36happen. But like Jess, I wrote her as
- 27:38glasses throughout, like until the very.
- 27:40End of the movie. It took so long for me to get
- 27:41her name. And that's my name.
- 27:43Yeah. Zoe took so long to get her
- 27:45name, and that's her dad's name. Yeah, I it's just like, I don't
- 27:48know, like stuff like that. I thought that it had a pretty
- 27:54bad mix of CG and practical effects, like the head crushing
- 27:59kill. It was great, but I can't
- 28:02tolerate the really bad CG boy that's just spurting out of the
- 28:05head. Like, I feel like Damian Leone
- 28:10kind of set people up to like, be like, look, I did this shit.
- 28:14With this budget, you should be able to do this.
- 28:18However, he's insanely talented as an effects artist, so he's
- 28:21got that edge on people. But it's made me aware that it
- 28:25can be done, It can be done practical for cheap.
- 28:29And whenever I see people use CG blood like that, it really just
- 28:33bums me out and kind of takes me out of it.
- 28:34I'm like this had so much potential to be a way better
- 28:39kill. Yeah, and like, that was the
- 28:40thing too, when I was writing down the special effects,
- 28:42because all I had was prosthetics and I was like, Oh
- 28:45no, but there's so much more to to effects than prosthetics.
- 28:49And last thing, some of the writing just not that great.
- 28:53Like it's a lot of it is just things just happening.
- 28:56Yeah. Like, it's like, they get to
- 28:59their vacation cabin and things just happen.
- 29:03Poo comes over here, kills somebody, poo comes over there,
- 29:06just kills somebody. Like, not a lot driving things.
- 29:09It's just like a scene. And then like, OK, let's do it
- 29:12again, new person instead. You know what I mean?
- 29:15Like, they just didn't didn't have much of A story.
- 29:19OK, yeah, So that's that's not bad.
- 29:22My bad. And I get that this is for
- 29:24copyright reasons, but it's not spelled HUNNY.
- 29:30That is canonically how POO spells honey.
- 29:33HUNNY. Yes.
- 29:35Yeah, you can't do it. No, wait, was it spelled like
- 29:39that in the book? I wonder like if it's in the
- 29:41book, it's free game. I don't know, but that's what I
- 29:45iconically associate Woo Poo with this little jar of honey.
- 29:49And it's spelled wrong. Yeah, silly Willy Nilly killed
- 29:52Bear. You know, there's also like a
- 29:58lot of people going, no, don't leave her alone.
- 30:02And then just standing there as one of the characters is killed,
- 30:06like they're not moving. Like it happens with Christopher
- 30:09Robin when Mary is being choked out.
- 30:11Like he just stands and he goes Piglet Piglet.
- 30:16It happens with. And it happens with Zoe and
- 30:19Alice too. Yeah.
- 30:20Cuz Zoe is like no, not Alice, no or not.
- 30:24I don't know, I don't know which one's which.
- 30:25They look very similar. He.
- 30:26Was like, you can come get her, She's like, no, it's OK but
- 30:30don't but. Don't.
- 30:32And I also like, I wanted this movie to be just, like, a little
- 30:35bit campier. You know what I mean?
- 30:36I play. It really, really straight.
- 30:38Yeah, and like. I kind of like that though.
- 30:41I like that. But like, there were certain
- 30:43punch UPS that I thought could have been really fun.
- 30:45Like, 'cause the bees appear whenever Pooh murders somebody.
- 30:48I wish we'd had more bee action. Like, let's get it.
- 30:52Like let's get it to fucking Candyman levels of bees.
- 30:56Let's do more with bees. Let's let's do more with bees.
- 31:04I just like your enthusiasm for bees, even though you.
- 31:06Hate I do. You hate bees?
- 31:09I thought it would have been cool because he keeps pouring
- 31:11the blood honey on people. I wanted it to be like acid or
- 31:14something. I thought it.
- 31:16Was going to be something too. But yeah, to burn them.
- 31:19And then also, I don't know, maybe they could have a little
- 31:22fun being like furries, you know what I mean?
- 31:25It's there, yeah. What do you mean?
- 31:27Maybe have, like, furries in the cabin and then they see Pooh and
- 31:31Piglet and they're like, Oh yeah, they're deep in it.
- 31:34Yeah, that would be. I don't know enough about furry
- 31:37subculture, but I feel like there's a potential for
- 31:39something there. No, I think you're right,
- 31:42actually. Like, like, whoa, that's a
- 31:44really good mess. Yeah, there's like, no mess.
- 31:50So yeah, that's that's what I thought could have been, you
- 31:53know, maybe made it a little campier in a way that would have
- 31:56been fun. I agree.
- 31:57Like can't put up in certain moments, but play it straight in
- 31:59others. I mean you.
- 32:01That's a good formula. Right there.
- 32:02I I'm never like, fully opposed to like a movie playing
- 32:06something like silly, very straight.
- 32:09But I just feel like there were maybe a couple of moments that
- 32:11could have been, could have been.
- 32:13More this movie right here. You look at it, Winnie the Pooh
- 32:16Butt and honey, you like, I mean, that's a movie title
- 32:20Screamin to be camp, like full blown camp.
- 32:23And I kind of respect them for just going straight, full blown
- 32:27horror with it, 'cause you know, like that's that's a fun take
- 32:29too. Yeah, OK.
- 32:31What's your ugly? They ate you, Eeyore.
- 32:34I don't like that. Eeyore had to go first.
- 32:37Why Eeyore? It's like first thing too.
- 32:40Like Christopher's gone for one day.
- 32:43What the fuck do we do, Eeyore? Eat them.
- 32:47I knew you guys didn't like me as much as each other.
- 32:52This is why I'm sad all the time.
- 32:56I. Always knew I would be first to
- 32:58go in a cannibal situation. And I've heard Poo talking about
- 33:02he's been looking for an excuse to eat me this whole time.
- 33:07That bastard. I mean, come on, man.
- 33:10Like, I wanted to always see him.
- 33:12We don't even see him. And then we get the fucking
- 33:14tombstone of him when he comes back there later.
- 33:17I'm like, don't do that, he. That was just so.
- 33:21Yeah, I hated that. OK.
- 33:24What's your ugly? My ugly is probably like the
- 33:27whole stalking bit. And then also like abandoning
- 33:32his childhood friends. Like, I get it, you got to go to
- 33:36college at some point, but and you know when he's telling Mary
- 33:40about it, she is playing it off. Like, you know, it's a childhood
- 33:43thing. But for Christopher Robin, it
- 33:45wasn't a childhood thing. Did he not come home at any
- 33:48point while he was in college? He didn't come see his friends
- 33:50ever. He didn't tell him that he was
- 33:52leaving. Yeah, that's kind of stupid.
- 33:54That's kind of fucked up. Even if you thought they could
- 33:56fend for themselves, you didn't say goodbye.
- 33:59You didn't say goodbye to Pooh. Yeah, I think he did say
- 34:02goodbye. I think he did, didn't he not,
- 34:04Isn't there not like a flashback of him going like, I'm sorry, I
- 34:06gotta go. I gotta go to college.
- 34:08No, I don't think so. It's maybe he's apologizing
- 34:11later. He's saying like I had to go to
- 34:13college but he's not it. The voice over narration at the
- 34:17beginning says that he made the difficult decision to go to
- 34:20college and therefore he wasn't there to feed his friends
- 34:22anymore. So they had to eat Eeyore and
- 34:24then they became anti human. This is what happened in Toy
- 34:28Story, like after Toy Story 3 when Andy left, like he went to
- 34:30college. So the toys like we got to eat
- 34:32each other. Like what?
- 34:33Are we going to do more Disney shit?
- 34:37No, they got taken to a daycare. I didn't watch Toy Story 4, so.
- 34:41I didn't watch Toy Story Four. That wasn't Toy Story 3, friend.
- 34:46Wow. Well, they could have.
- 34:48They had lots of the bear, lots of hugs.
- 34:52I think this. Is there's a?
- 34:53Yeah. He's like an evil mop boss in
- 34:55the daycare. There is so spoilers for Toy
- 34:58Story 3, but Speaking of like people having endings be like
- 35:03cut short like that, or like you think how a movie's supposed to
- 35:06end. There's like a YouTube video of,
- 35:08like, these people edited Toy Story 3 and showed it to their
- 35:12mom. And you know that scene where
- 35:16they're all on the conveyor belt about to be, like, put into the
- 35:18fire to be killed. Like they made it fade to black
- 35:22there and go to credits. The mom's like, what the fuck?
- 35:26That's like the quote UN quote alternate ending for the
- 35:28collector. Yeah, stick your fingers of
- 35:31like, fuck you toys. You are dying, OK?
- 35:35Absurd. Yeah, Let's see here.
- 35:38So the first thing I asked myself here, and I put it under
- 35:41the absurd, is, are these masks or faces?
- 35:44I learned later that they're the actual faces, but they look like
- 35:48masks. Well, here's my my absurd in
- 35:51relation to the mask is that you can see their fucking mouths
- 35:54under them. Can you?
- 35:55Yes. No, I didn't pay attention.
- 35:57To that much, yeah. Well 'cause there's so many
- 35:59close-ups of poo eating his honey and.
- 36:01Like so dark. I don't see it.
- 36:04Really. Yeah, I never saw that.
- 36:06Yeah, it's distracting. Maybe that's just what that bear
- 36:08is, man. I mean, they're like anomalies.
- 36:10Like there's. Enough shots of it where like
- 36:12far away and like I can see why. Like they're fine with this
- 36:15design, but it's like the up close shots where I'm sure it
- 36:17was kind of like a let's just hope people aren't scrutinizing
- 36:20it too much. Kind of thing I didn't.
- 36:21I wonder how distracting it would have been in like a
- 36:24theater screen though. Yeah, OK, more extended poo
- 36:32torture to with the song playing that is singing that smell.
- 36:39OK, this music, this music it. Is.
- 36:42Gregorian monk chanting. And it's like that smell.
- 36:47Something something, something, something.
- 36:51And I'm not. I'm not saying something because
- 36:53I don't know the words. Those are the actual.
- 36:54Literary. No.
- 36:55It's also like, I think there's also a where's, like, where,
- 36:59where's that smell? Like, where's it coming from?
- 37:01Like that smell Where the fuck? And it's like, it's literally
- 37:05like the lyrics are literally. Duck smell.
- 37:07Something something, something. Duck smell.
- 37:10Yeah. It's just like him torturing
- 37:12Christopher. And it's not even that good of
- 37:14torture. Like, it's like Rio Christopher.
- 37:17I'm giving you a shower. He whips him.
- 37:21And at first I was like, please don't tell me that it's fucking
- 37:23Ewer's tail. That's what I thought it was
- 37:24too. I'm very concerned It's Ewer's
- 37:27tail. I think it is.
- 37:28I think that. Oh, oh, that's bleak.
- 37:30Dude, this tail is fucking harsh.
- 37:32That shit cuts that cut him pretty fucking deep.
- 37:37And my final absurd is Pooh controls bees.
- 37:44Bees. Like like he can just sick bees
- 37:48on people. Like he did it in the Halloween
- 37:50kill scene with the last guy. Like the final guy is like bees
- 37:54go get him. Like when the guy is like
- 37:56running away and they just go over there and kill a guy to
- 37:58death. Has that ever been a thing?
- 38:02Does poop control bees? Like what the fuck is?
- 38:04That I mean, at one point he got stuck in a honey, like a hive,
- 38:07like trying to get honey. It's in a tree.
- 38:09Yeah, but he doesn't control the bees.
- 38:11Yeah, but he doesn't control the bees.
- 38:12Yeah, like it's a whole thing. And so he has to stop eating the
- 38:14honey so he can lose enough weight to fall out of the tree.
- 38:17Poor poo. So, so you you touched on a
- 38:23couple of my absurds there. There is some absurdities that
- 38:28them wearing clothes, first of all because they supposedly hate
- 38:32their human parts. So, and I know that the real
- 38:35reason is because they didn't want to have to do like a full
- 38:38bear suit and he was supposed to look like half bear, half human.
- 38:42Well. There's, there's They all wear
- 38:43clothes in the show. Or not all of them pickle?
- 38:46Does it? Who is the only one that does?
- 38:48Wait, I thought Pickle. It was wearing like a fucking
- 38:51tank top. No, that's just his little pink
- 38:54body. Doesn't he have stripes on it?
- 38:56Yeah, this is Stripes. Pinks don't have stripes.
- 38:59Cartoon pigs do I. Thought I think it's a tank top.
- 39:02I don't think it's a tank top. That's her pole.
- 39:09Yeah, So there's that. And like, supposedly they never
- 39:11spoke again. But then when they're rescuing
- 39:13Charlene, she's like, they kind of speak.
- 39:16So I'm like, which is it? And then my final upsurge is the
- 39:19international Gang of Rednecks, because there's the four
- 39:23rednecks from the convenience store and they all have
- 39:26different accents, cause we've got the American one, the
- 39:29British one, the Australian one and the one who I never actually
- 39:32hear talk directly. I like to think that that's like
- 39:34the United Nations and rednecks like they all just, like gather
- 39:39together in England. To be fair, I've never been more
- 39:42on a redneck side in a horror movie than I have with these
- 39:45guys. But I was very like, they were
- 39:48multicultural, yeah. Yeah, I'm good on them for, you
- 39:51know, being inclusive like that. It doesn't work well for them.
- 39:55But, you know, and they, they seem like they might be sketchy
- 39:58too. I thought that they were going
- 39:59to be bad like, oh, poo, here's your target over here.
- 40:02Like I thought that they were going to.
- 40:03Help. No.
- 40:03They were doing full, like Halloween, like vigilante mob
- 40:08justice. Shit like they see.
- 40:09They see Maria and Jess running. They're like, well, savior.
- 40:12It went Tommy Wallace on, yeah. OK, so Travis, what's your
- 40:16score? I think this movie lies around
- 40:236.5. 6.5. Yeah.
- 40:26I'm giving it a 7.5. 7.5 I had. A lot of fun with it.
- 40:31I was expecting to hate it the way people talked about it and I
- 40:34just honestly, I had a good time.
- 40:36I'm ready for the second one. I'm ready for the third one.
- 40:38I am too. I I, you know, like I watched it
- 40:41and I was like, this is what people have been shooting on.
- 40:43Like, it's not nowhere near as bad as I've seen.
- 40:48I think it was just a lot of people shitting on the concept
- 40:51more than anything, being like, oh, what a stupid thing, we're
- 40:54just gonna make a Winnie the Pooh horror movie, no new ideas
- 40:57in Hollywood. And it's like sometimes it's
- 40:58harder to take an existing property like that and turn it
- 41:01into something opposite. Yeah.
- 41:03I can understand did a good job. I think I can understand
- 41:05people's criticism with that, like that it's not original.
- 41:09I don't know, like I just. I don't have any issues with it
- 41:12myself and I feel like this it probably got more eyes on it
- 41:18than like most movies of this quality.
- 41:21And yeah. Budget would do to that shout.
- 41:24Out to a cult of Humpty. Yeah.
- 41:26Oh God, Joe. That's yeah, Peacock wants us to
- 41:30finish that movie now. Yeah, and tried to, like, put
- 41:33that up there for us to watch after this.
- 41:35But no. I mean, I thought that it was
- 41:38really good. I've seen some real trash
- 41:40movies. I mean, we talked about one for
- 41:42our two year not to be. Hello, Buddy.
- 41:43Buddy. Bible Camp.
- 41:44Yeah. And this movie was Miles.
- 41:46Miles. Better than that.
- 41:47So yeah, 6 1/2. All right, I've got a 7 1/2,
- 41:51which means we have a starting average of seven.

- 43:48Start off with Christopher encountering Al Rabbit.
- 43:52It's like a cartoon like the old like illustrations Owl Rabbit,
- 43:56Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh. The narrator explains that some
- 44:00people would consider them abominations, but Christopher
- 44:03Alvin became friends with them, fed them daily, and then just
- 44:07fucked on off to college. Yeah, like, I guess, like, he
- 44:11was still like a teenager when he was hanging out with him,
- 44:13which, I don't know the Canon of Winnie the Pooh, but like, I
- 44:17don't know. Like I feel like.
- 44:18He's like eight or nine years old.
- 44:19So, like, he didn't. Unless this gets a fucking
- 44:22prodigy. He wasn't going off to college.
- 44:25Like, even whenever we get a flashback later, like as a kid,
- 44:27he's like, I'm going to college and like.
- 44:29I don't think he ever says that in a flashback.
- 44:32I don't know where you decided this was coming from.
- 44:34I feel maybe I'm just filling in blanks with my my brain here.
- 44:38I thought that he said that the. Flashback, we see, is him saying
- 44:41we'll be friends forever and ever.
- 44:43OK, that is true. I do remember seeing that.
- 44:46I it is a shame that they were able to use like the style of
- 44:50Winnie the Pooh for this right here.
- 44:51Like they clearly had to do, like a different style that
- 44:53doesn't resemble anything close to like the Disney
- 44:57illustrations. Yeah, so when he left, they
- 45:00didn't know how to fend for themselves anymore.
- 45:02And then one winter day, it was really cold, and they were
- 45:05starving, and they ate. Or, and because they were so
- 45:12traumatized from having to do that, they renounced their
- 45:14humanity, hated everything human, and especially hated
- 45:17Christopher Robin, and they never spoke again.
- 45:20Except apparently they did. And also they still were close.
- 45:23Yeah, I then they speak later in the movie too.
- 45:27Like, I I guess, like, I don't know.
- 45:29Maybe they're just pouty about it.
- 45:32Okay. So we cut later in the future,
- 45:34Christopher. Five years later.
- 45:35Five years later, Okay. So we know we have a timeline
- 45:37now, Christopher turns to the woods with his.
- 45:40I feel like they said fiance. He says fiance at one point and
- 45:44he says wife at a different. Yeah, that's why it threw me
- 45:47off. I wrote Fiance here, but he has
- 45:49Mary there to show and prove that they exist, because
- 45:54apparently he's been telling her all about these people and she
- 45:56doesn't exactly buy. Yeah, she's like, she's like, I
- 46:00believe that they were an important part of your childhood
- 46:03and that sometimes we make up things to keep us happy when
- 46:07we're younger. And I'm here to support you and
- 46:10help you deal with coming to this realization on your own as
- 46:12an adult. So they find the old place that
- 46:18they used to live at. It's in really bad shape.
- 46:20You see yours little tombstone that they made there.
- 46:24At least they had enough respect to make him a grave.
- 46:27Which what did they bury there? Skeleton, I don't know.
- 46:30Like, yeah, that's one I'm question too, but maybe his soul
- 46:34is there. Maybe it's still, I don't know.
- 46:35They kept parts of him, obviously.
- 46:37Mary is freaking out, 'cause they're seeing like little
- 46:40skulls and blood on like, different dry lids.
- 46:45And then there's like honey mixed with blood and abandoned
- 46:49vehicles and bikes all around. It just looks like bad news.
- 46:54They go in a house and they find a drawing of Chris.
- 46:57Except it's not like a happy friendship drawing.
- 47:00It's a bad news drawing. Do we actually see?
- 47:03We don't. See.
- 47:04It. But we get the gist.
- 47:06Yeah, I I was kind of bummed that I didn't get to see what
- 47:09this was because she's got this like horrified reaction and like
- 47:13they put it down and hear footsteps so they have to hide
- 47:16underneath the bed. Sometimes gone by.
- 47:20It's night time now. Pooh is asleep on the bed, so
- 47:23they managed to sneak out, but as they walk outside, Piglet has
- 47:28something else in mind for them. He wraps chains around Mary's
- 47:31neck and he kills her. Then Pooh finds Chris and then
- 47:36they take Chris. I thought that they killed him
- 47:39here, but that's. Implied because they show a
- 47:41drawing and it looks like they throw Chris in a fire.
- 47:43Yeah, I I thought that they were gonna eat him.
- 47:46Yeah, like that's what it seemed like.
- 47:48And that's it. We get opening credits
- 47:50highlighting news reports of people going missing in the
- 47:53woods, mutilated bodies being found.
- 47:55One of the newspapers says man pig or bear, man pig.
- 48:02Bear Man Pig. Bear man, Pig.
- 48:05Yes. Yeah, that's definitely
- 48:07intentional. Oh, it has to be 100%.
- 48:11So we cut to a woman, Maria. She's in therapy and she's
- 48:14talking about how she's been living on edge and she's just
- 48:16scared all the time, especially in crowds, and she just doesn't
- 48:19want to be like that anymore. And the therapist says that
- 48:22she's made a lot of progress and the fact that she knows why she
- 48:24wants to be in therapy is a good thing and suggest that maybe she
- 48:28needs, you know, just a break away from everything reset.
- 48:33So she and her friends decide that they're gonna go to a cabin
- 48:37for the weekend. As they're driving, they call
- 48:39their friend Tina, who is late. Apparently that's just Tina.
- 48:42Yeah, two hours, Tina. Yeah, she's a late person, as
- 48:46Mike Birbiglia, I would say. Ladies, Maria arrives at a gas
- 48:49station. It's, you know, typical
- 48:52surprise. We don't see the harbinger there
- 48:54from Cabin in the Woods. It's like it's one of those.
- 48:56She goes in and it seems abandoned, but she keeps saying
- 48:58hello and eventually one of the rednecks comes out and she's
- 49:03like, does those gas pumps work And he goes no.
- 49:06It's like, have you seen them? Like they?
- 49:08Obviously are not. Do you see this place?
- 49:11What even is this place anymore? Is this just his home?
- 49:13Is this where the United Nations headquarters is for the
- 49:17Rednecks? Apparently Charlene walks in.
- 49:20I guess she's also part of this United Nations because she seems
- 49:23very at home in this place. She does, yeah.
- 49:27So they all arrive at their little rental cabin.
- 49:30They have to give up their phones for the weekend, cause
- 49:32the whole point is to disconnect.
- 49:33Lara's not happy about it and they're like, you'll be fine
- 49:36without Face or Instagram for a weekend.
- 49:39And of course, because they've given up their phones, they
- 49:42didn't wait for Tina to get there.
- 49:43So Tina's calling, 'cause she's lost.
- 49:45And she's like, man, GPS doesn't want me to go here, but it says
- 49:48100 Acre Wood. So I'm just a little bit
- 49:51confused on what I'm supposed to be doing.
- 49:54And then as she's hanging up the phone, she sees Pooh, who chases
- 49:58her into a barn in the woods. And he he puts her in a wood
- 50:05chipper and then laughing because he, like, dashes her
- 50:09head a lot first, so she should be dead.
- 50:11But when he puts her in the wood chipper, her legs are like
- 50:14kicking about, like they clearly had her like act like she was
- 50:19being like struggling to fight still, even though she would
- 50:22have been long dead by the point, her legs were still
- 50:24kicking. That was some brutal head
- 50:26bashing. That we got there.
- 50:27Like, I was kind of impressed. I was also really shocked to see
- 50:30that we get poo chasing like people and killing them this
- 50:33quick into the movie. Yeah, he just runs.
- 50:36Yeah, he's just like sees her and just sprints at her.
- 50:38Like he's. A fast bear.
- 50:40Bears are fast, so I guess that makes sense.
- 50:43OK, so we're good. Two of the Friends are lesbians,
- 50:46which is cool, but it leads to this, like, very abrupt
- 50:51storyline because one of them had called in and set up like a
- 50:54little romantic surprise and the other one says it's too soon,
- 50:57And then that's all we get with that.
- 51:00That's all we get. Is it a new relationship?
- 51:02Did something happen and they're not ready to make up?
- 51:05I don't know what's happening. I don't know either.
- 51:08I feel like they were trying to establish like characters here
- 51:12for whatever reason, that I don't feel like it truly
- 51:14connects. Maybe in the long line of maybe
- 51:17homages, maybe this isn't homage to the strangers.
- 51:20It could be like she proposes and like she says no.
- 51:24She's like, this is not the time.
- 51:27So Maria shares her trauma with her friends.
- 51:30She tells her or tells them all the reason why she is wanting to
- 51:35do this trip, and then she tells the story about what happened.
- 51:38So she had a stalker. There was a guy, she woke up in
- 51:42the middle of the night one night and saw him staring at her
- 51:45from outside the window, which really freaked her out.
- 51:47But he ran off and the police couldn't find him, you know,
- 51:50which is based off of that, she said.
- 51:52Things got a little bit better, but a month later, she started
- 51:54feeling kind of like weird in crowds, like she was being
- 51:57watched. And eventually it led to him
- 52:00breaking into her house and trying to undress her in her
- 52:04sleep. The police did get him that
- 52:06time, and they said that they got his computer from his home
- 52:08and it was just filled with stuff about her that's so fun.
- 52:11He had been stalking her for a while.
- 52:15So we cut over to the piglet. Piglet doing 6,000,000 merits to
- 52:23power up the Murder Barn. I think it's impressive that he
- 52:26has to power this thing with the bike.
- 52:29So we learned Chris is alive and he is a hostage and he's crying
- 52:33and apologizing and whereas before he was like I had to
- 52:37leave, I didn't have a choice and I was like I never would
- 52:39have left if I could have avoided it.
- 52:43I get it, man. Like these guys held a fucking
- 52:46grudge. The thing is, he was always
- 52:48bringing them food so they didn't have a source of food
- 52:52anymore, so. Sad, because Pooh goes over to
- 52:54the mirror and he thinks about Christopher Robin being a little
- 52:59baby boy and saying we'll be friends forever.
- 53:01Why won't we Pooh? And then Pooh has a single
- 53:04little tear run down his face, and then he starts smashing
- 53:08stuff. I like, I thought whenever I
- 53:11first saw I was like, did he just cry?
- 53:12Honey, I wish that that was the case.
- 53:17But no. Yeah, he goes on a full 1
- 53:19rampage here. He gets possibly eat your cell
- 53:23and starts to whip Christopher with it, and it makes some
- 53:26pretty brutal cuts on his back. And then he showers him with
- 53:29blood. Yeah, and props up a skeletal
- 53:32corpse next to him. I was that Mary.
- 53:34I'm guessing that's probably. Mary, I don't know the way Chris
- 53:37reacts. It's bad.
- 53:39And then this is where we get the first something something.
- 53:42Yeah, that smell. So Lara has snuck her phone out
- 53:47from the group's phones because of course she did, and she is in
- 53:52a hot tub and she is trying to take all manner of selfies.
- 53:54And I appreciate this realistic version of it where she's doing
- 53:58a million different angles and poses and trying to find the
- 54:01best one. And it also sets up for a really
- 54:03good jump scare because she's taking all these pictures, you
- 54:07know, going through it, and after she's done about 20 or so,
- 54:10she decides she's going to look and see which ones are the best.
- 54:12And she's like bad, bad, bad. And as she's looking through,
- 54:15she notices poo in the background of her picture
- 54:17sneaking up and she was like, what the fuck?
- 54:19And then cause Laura is the kind of monster that I love in movies
- 54:22like this. She's like the bad friend
- 54:24archetype, very stuck up. And I love her.
- 54:28She gets out and she goes, Who are you?
- 54:31Are you here for Maria so fucked up as a friend to say that After
- 54:38what? Just what she just don't do.
- 54:40Yeah. And she's also just so quick to
- 54:43be like, whatever, like she's like, OK, I'm going to go back
- 54:46to the hot tub. So she just gets back in the hot
- 54:49tub and. Then Piggly comes out.
- 54:50Piggly's got fucking chloroform. This movie I will.
- 54:54I will say one thing about this movie they love themselves some
- 54:57strobe wide effects because that's what is happening here,
- 55:00'cause she turned on one of the outside sunlight and it's
- 55:02flickering. So it's just shots of poo and
- 55:05Piglet walking up from behind, but like inching closer with
- 55:08each time the light. It is not great for
- 55:10photosensitivity. No.
- 55:12Yeah, yeah. He gets her all tied up and then
- 55:14we see her out in the middle of the road hog tied by a piglet,
- 55:19and he is slowly dragging the sledgehammer to the road over to
- 55:23her. Takes it, doesn't bash her head,
- 55:27pins her to the ground with it. It's also really weird to see
- 55:31him poo in a car. He's just revving the engine
- 55:33over there like we taught. Him how to drive.
- 55:37Michael Myers did. Christopher Robin teach him
- 55:39before he went to college 'cause he would have had his license,
- 55:42right? Yeah, maybe.
- 55:44Maybe they went on. Why didn't joyride together?
- 55:47He should have teach a man to fish, teach a poo to fish, and
- 55:50you just won't have him kill you later on.
- 55:52That's how that saying goes. That's exactly how that goes.
- 55:57Oh, so yeah, he slowly drives over her head.
- 56:00And it's God that's such a fun kill.
- 56:03Like seeing her eyeballs just bugged out and her not
- 56:06immediately die and explode. So Maria and Jess, they find her
- 56:13body. They start to freak out.
- 56:16And Zoe and Alice come downstairs.
- 56:18They all heard her scream and Maria and Jess let let them know
- 56:22that they found her body. They look towards one wall
- 56:25that's just entirely made of windows and they see a message
- 56:28that says get out. Again, strangers this.
- 56:31Yeah, yeah. Why do they want them to get
- 56:33out? I thought that they would want
- 56:35them for food. Like why are they trying to get
- 56:38rid of them? Maybe they taste better when
- 56:40they're scared. I don't know.
- 56:41I feel like, I feel like this is, this is probably stupid
- 56:44riding right here where they're just, like throwing in like
- 56:46horror tropes. Like, I don't know, like it's
- 56:48scary, right? Like, it doesn't.
- 56:50It doesn't line up with any of the motivations of our
- 56:52characters here, but it gets a scare.
- 56:54They're looking for their phones and weapons to, you know, be
- 56:57able to protect themselves and call for help.
- 56:59And then they see Pooh through the window.
- 57:02Maria starts panicking, and Jess has to, like, give her a little
- 57:05pep talk. Meanwhile, Zoe goes to close the
- 57:07front door, and Maria remembers she's got a gun upstairs.
- 57:12So they go up there. Pooh has snuck into the house
- 57:16and Piglet sneaks up on Zoe and Alice, who are in the pool area
- 57:21to see if there's like a door back there left open by Laura
- 57:25and Piglet kills Zoe this. Is I like the sequence?
- 57:31So, like, he knocks one of them out, yeah?
- 57:35He knocks Alice out, and so Zoe is like trying She's.
- 57:38In the pool, she jumped in. I think he tossed her in the
- 57:41pool or something. So she's like he's walking after
- 57:44her in the pool trying to get her.
- 57:46In. Yeah.
- 57:46And it's like a lap pool, so they can walk in it, but like it
- 57:49it's really weird, like intense because you know how you move
- 57:53slower in water. And it's just like this whole,
- 57:55like we get shots of like the hammer underwater and stuff, and
- 57:58it's just it's really, it's actually really well done for a
- 58:01tensing. Until we get like him whacking
- 58:04her repeatedly with the sledgehammer, and I'm thinking
- 58:07to myself, these are some weak ass swings.
- 58:10And cuz Alice has woken up at this point and she does the
- 58:13thing that Christopher did at the beginning, where he's like,
- 58:15no, and she's just in there she goes, no, leave her alone.
- 58:19No, you could have ran around to the other side of the pool,
- 58:22distracted Piggly the way she distracted him for you.
- 58:26That's not what happens. So Zoe dies, Jess and Maria
- 58:30finds Zoe's body and they see Pooh and Piglet carrying Alice
- 58:34and they decided to follow her. Follow them.
- 58:38Alice is tied up once again, love a hog time moment, and Pooh
- 58:44comes over and starts just beating her.
- 58:46Just for funsies apparently. Cause just Maria get to her and
- 58:51they see that she is like still alive and they start to leave.
- 58:54But they hear a scream and they all agree we don't want to leave
- 58:58anybody here with these people. It's a bad idea.
- 59:01So they run towards the scream and they find Christopher, Robin
- 59:05and Maria goes to untie him and suddenly Alice and Jess are
- 59:08like, we've got to get out of here and it's like, but we all
- 59:10just agreed. I like how many times they hear
- 59:16a scream and they go and untie somebody in the sequence, 'cause
- 59:19it happens at least three times. Yeah, yeah, This is the second
- 59:22time. So they get Christopher Robin
- 59:24United and they're like, OK, we gotta go help you.
- 59:27And then there's another scream and he's like, oh, that's that
- 59:30woman she just got here, You should go help her all catch up,
- 59:33which is SUS. And also they just leave him and
- 59:37suddenly just Jess and Alice are OK with going in untying sites.
- 59:42Their internal consistency is not great here.
- 59:48So they go and they find Charlene.
- 59:50She's the woman from the gas station earlier.
- 59:52I say gas station, but it's not really because the gas pumps
- 59:55don't work. You in the headquarters.
- 59:57Yeah, yeah, yeah. She has been beaten and chained
- 1:00:01up and she says that they talk and their names are Poo and
- 1:00:05Piglet. And she says.
- 1:00:07Something like piglet smells me like.
- 1:00:09What is? What is happening?
- 1:00:12We need to see more of this stuff.
- 1:00:13I need to know what Charlene has gone through.
- 1:00:15When did they get her? How did they get her?
- 1:00:17Where did they get her? I when legit criticism and like,
- 1:00:21I feel like this whole thing is so out of nowhere, 'cause she
- 1:00:25has this big dramatic showdown with him because like, so like
- 1:00:29she's gonna. Pay for what he did.
- 1:00:31OK, listen. Yeah, she's been beaten up, but
- 1:00:33it doesn't look like anything that's gonna scar her
- 1:00:35permanently. It's like swelling from like
- 1:00:37having her like face it, like, I think she'll be open.
- 1:00:40Yeah, she's. She's not like the woman in
- 1:00:42Hostel that had her eyeball cut out.
- 1:00:44But she's looking at herself like she is.
- 1:00:45She stumbles upon a window that, like is showing her reflection.
- 1:00:50She's like, Oh my God, what have they done to me?
- 1:00:52And Maria's like, you know what? You're right.
- 1:00:54And she gives this stranger her gun so she can have a standoff
- 1:00:59with Piglets. It's so stupid.
- 1:01:00She takes the gun and starts wandering around.
- 1:01:02She's like piglets or something. I don't fucking know.
- 1:01:05She's like. Oh, wonder.
- 1:01:07Yeah, she's like firing the gun wildly.
- 1:01:10And then Piglet just kind of strolls them like, hey Piglet.
- 1:01:13Counted them bullets, 'cause he comes up and she's got nothing
- 1:01:16left to shoot at him. That's smart.
- 1:01:18That's smart for Piglet right there.
- 1:01:20So he smells her, he walks up to her, and they What happened?
- 1:01:29Really? Piglet squeals.
- 1:01:31Yeah, basically. And then Poo appears and they
- 1:01:33they kill her. She backs in the poo, yeah, and
- 1:01:36then like he pours honey on her face, which causes the beast to
- 1:01:39attack her. Yeah.
- 1:01:40No, no, it causes Piglet to eat her face.
- 1:01:42Yeah, he pours. Honey on her face and Piglet's
- 1:01:45like, I'm going to eat that shit and I smelled it first, so.
- 1:01:49Then Poo hears our trio from the cabin.
- 1:01:52They're hiding behind something, so he goes to follow them.
- 1:01:55Maria and Jess run, but Alice decides that she's gonna beat
- 1:02:00Piglet up. She takes the sledgehammer and
- 1:02:04starts whacking on his face and. Actually starts to fuck him off.
- 1:02:07Yeah, she ties him up and she's bludgeoning him.
- 1:02:09One thing I will say the chains here and the same chains that
- 1:02:12were used for Charlene, like, clearly they didn't want to
- 1:02:15actually use chains on the actors because it's ropes.
- 1:02:18Oh yeah, And then like a chain sound effect, but the way
- 1:02:21they're moving is much more like ropes.
- 1:02:22That's. Funny, I didn't notice.
- 1:02:25Yeah, it was very distracting, like the way it was like
- 1:02:27literally being tied. I wonder if like in post when
- 1:02:29they were doing all the CGI blood they were like that would
- 1:02:31be more intimidating his chains so.
- 1:02:36Pooh hears Piglet start to shriek out in the background
- 1:02:39there, so he, like, runs off to go save him, gets revenge on
- 1:02:44Alice. Let's see what's he.
- 1:02:46Oh, he stabs it through the mouth.
- 1:02:48Yeah, Oof. Well, through the mouth, but it
- 1:02:51was more like a sleight of hand from our because we could tell
- 1:02:55that it was like being slid in next to her face.
- 1:02:58That's true, he He also proceeds to bobber, as in like Halloween,
- 1:03:01like Bob, like sticks her. Up on Oh yeah, Yeah.
- 1:03:04And I don't know if I remember this correctly, but I think he
- 1:03:07does something kind of like a head tilt matter.
- 1:03:10He he stares at the body like it reminded me a lot of Michael.
- 1:03:14So there's a shot of poo running and it's like almost like shot
- 1:03:18from underneath his face and it's like a moving camera with
- 1:03:21him. And I love that shot.
- 1:03:24Like it's a really cool shot. It's creepy.
- 1:03:26And I don't know, it just worked for me.
- 1:03:29Maria and Jess finds the international gang of rednecks
- 1:03:32and they beg for help and the rednecks do what rednecks do.
- 1:03:35And they they're like, oh hell no, not Narwhaz.
- 1:03:38We don't give these parts a bad name.
- 1:03:40We're understanding rednecks. We like people.
- 1:03:44They are interesting because I like that he's like, you know
- 1:03:47what, No, like the looks of this guy.
- 1:03:49Like he just kind of backs off for a minute, but then they're
- 1:03:52like, Nah, we got to fuck him up.
- 1:03:53So they all get weapons to get bats and like all kinds of like,
- 1:03:57shit, like pipes and shit. I don't know.
- 1:04:01So they approach him. They try and, like, convince him
- 1:04:04to like, leave, but Pooh just kind of stands there silently.
- 1:04:07It is fully If you want to know what this scene looks like that
- 1:04:10you don't want to watch the movie, just watch the scene in
- 1:04:12Halloween Kills where the mob beats up Michael, and then
- 1:04:15Michael beats the mob. Up.
- 1:04:17The only thing it's missing is like a iron, like pressing.
- 1:04:21Iron, but what it's lacking in a clothes iron, it's making up for
- 1:04:25in. Bees.
- 1:04:27Does that bees? It has bees.
- 1:04:30I like how Pooh like, he this is really cool here, how he fucks
- 1:04:34them up so like, they like they get their licks in and you know,
- 1:04:38Pooh's kind of, like budging a little bit, but he's not really,
- 1:04:41like, showing like he's hurt in any way.
- 1:04:43Then he takes his knife and slices the gas station attendant
- 1:04:47Redneck's face in half. Yeah.
- 1:04:50So the guy runs over to the car, freaking the fuck out.
- 1:04:53He takes the other guy. We'll see.
- 1:04:55What does he do to him? Chops his hand off.
- 1:05:00Then he head stomps him. And then he takes the other
- 1:05:04dude, slashes his throat, and then the other guy, as he's
- 1:05:07running away, he takes his bees and he sticks them on them.
- 1:05:10So like he goes like the bees just chase him down and kill
- 1:05:13him. Maria and Jess have driven away
- 1:05:15at this point, but because Winnie the Pooh is fully Michael
- 1:05:17Myers at this point, he is in the back of the truck and
- 1:05:21sneaking up on him, causing a crash, and Pooh has taken Jess
- 1:05:26out of the cab of the truck. And when Maria looks up, he's
- 1:05:31just holding Jess's head. I'm kind of mad that we got that
- 1:05:34off screen. Pooh pulls no punches.
- 1:05:38That's what I'm learning about, about this silly, Willy nilly
- 1:05:41old bear. He's really fucking brutal.
- 1:05:45So like, you think that she's going to be able to drive off,
- 1:05:48but she can't get the truck to start back.
- 1:05:50So Pooh walks over there and grabs her, pulls her out of the
- 1:05:53truck and is about to kill her. But wouldn't you remember
- 1:05:57Christopher Robin? He's right there.
- 1:05:59Yeah, yeah, he's still in this movie and he's got a truck of
- 1:06:02his owns. So I had such a worry at the
- 1:06:05beginning of all of this that when they brought in Maria, I
- 1:06:08was like, is this going to be a cheap replacement for Mary for
- 1:06:10Chris? Like, are they going to do a
- 1:06:12weird forcing together? And he's going to be like, can I
- 1:06:14just call you Mary? That would be.
- 1:06:16That would be so. Don't be fucked up.
- 1:06:19I like how he has no regard for her life though.
- 1:06:21And like pins, he like pins. Pooh up against the car, but.
- 1:06:25Recommend to very easily hit her.
- 1:06:27She was right there, too. She just happens to fall to the
- 1:06:30side whenever Pooh drops her, like she should have been
- 1:06:33crushed alongside Pooh. So he gets on to help Maria, and
- 1:06:36Pooh is superhuman and he just pushes the car away from him and
- 1:06:41he grabs Maria. Chris is like begging.
- 1:06:44He's like, like, just take me you can.
- 1:06:46We'll be friends forever. We'll be together forever.
- 1:06:48Just let her go and and. Poo just says you left.
- 1:06:55Yeah, I really wish that they'd done like the actual Winnie the
- 1:06:58Pooh boys and have been really high pitched like you.
- 1:07:00Left. No, that would have been
- 1:07:01awesome. Yeah.
- 1:07:04I was shocked to hear him talk though.
- 1:07:06Like, yeah, you left. And then as soon as he says
- 1:07:08like, he switched her throat, so.
- 1:07:10She's dead. Yeah.
- 1:07:12Before that happens that they were, we're talking about this
- 1:07:14and they're so muddy. Like they're so fucking muddy
- 1:07:17and we don't see that much mud. And I was just like thinking of
- 1:07:20all and then I just started listing all of the ANTM photo
- 1:07:23shoots where they involve mud. And I was like, they look as
- 1:07:26muddy as these models that were made to look specifically muddy.
- 1:07:30Like, it's crazy they're covered in this like white mud.
- 1:07:33Yeah, I was going to say it doesn't even look like mud.
- 1:07:35It's like, why? I was like, is this some kind of
- 1:07:36weird honey thing that he's doing?
- 1:07:38I don't fucking know. He's got some weird it seems.
- 1:07:41Yeah, but Chris runs and then we just get a notice that poo will
- 1:07:45return. Yeah, yeah, He just runs away.
- 1:07:49The car explodes too, by the way.
- 1:07:51Yeah, it was kind of cool. But yeah, that.
- 1:07:54I mean, it just kind of ends abruptly, like Christopher gets
- 1:08:00away and who's gonna be back? Yep.
- 1:08:06Yeah, you know what? I really like this movie, and
- 1:08:08I'm gonna keep it at a 7 1/2. I think it's a lot more fun than
- 1:08:11people give a credit for. I agree.
- 1:08:13I think it's way better than people.
- 1:08:14So, like, I think that is kind of helping us sue, because it
- 1:08:18got hyped up as this terrible movie by so many people that I
- 1:08:22went into this with such low expectations that I walked away.
- 1:08:25Like that was actually pretty, pretty good.
- 1:08:28Like pretty OK. Yeah, I had fun with it in a
- 1:08:31way. I, like, wasn't excited.
- 1:08:32Yeah, I was going to be like, oh man, we're just going to have
- 1:08:34fun roasting this movie. And then that's not what ended
- 1:08:37up happening. But I'm happy though.
- 1:08:39I'm keeping mine 6 1/2. OK, I'm I'm happy that I liked
- 1:08:42it. I'm happy that we both liked it
- 1:08:43because like, I don't know. Like I feel like it also needs
- 1:08:47some love. I feel like we need to show some
- 1:08:49love to some. Of this stuff too.
- 1:08:50It's fun to like things. Yeah, I'd rather like things
- 1:08:53than hate things. It's more fun to like things.
- 1:08:56What would you change about it to give it a higher score?
- 1:09:00Well, I just feel like I would have like more interesting
- 1:09:06things happen in the middle there.
- 1:09:08Like they show up there and then like Pooh starts to.
- 1:09:14It all happened so fast. Like he gets there and then they
- 1:09:17all kind of like split up and then go to their place.
- 1:09:19And like, I just, it just felt like a sequence of events that
- 1:09:24happened. And it didn't really feel like
- 1:09:26things were like strung together with any thought, OK, It just
- 1:09:29kind of felt like things just happened.
- 1:09:33It would just be kind of nice to have like a little bit of, like
- 1:09:35plot to go with this. I don't know like I don't need
- 1:09:39like a heavy plot, but it just. To some plot.
- 1:09:43Yeah, I mean the movie was the friends go to the cabin because
- 1:09:47she suffered A traumatic experience and who happens to be
- 1:09:51there and he like killed them and like nothing ever gets like.
- 1:09:56Yeah, it might have been nice to see like maybe her have like a
- 1:09:59like a couple of moments of like what is happening.
- 1:10:02Maybe be a little bit paranoid drawing that storyline of her,
- 1:10:05like trying to deal with that trauma while like this thing is
- 1:10:08actually happening, which is fucked up from like a, you know,
- 1:10:11just a person standpoint, like, oh God, let this woman have some
- 1:10:14peace. But also from, like a storyline.
- 1:10:15It's interesting because we know that she's experienced this and
- 1:10:18she has every right to be paranoid.
- 1:10:19And also as an audience, we know that she has every right to be
- 1:10:22paranoid. Yeah, like.
- 1:10:23But it would have been interesting to see her go
- 1:10:25through that and see her friends, like, navigate that
- 1:10:27without being, like insensitive to what she's just gone through.
- 1:10:30And then it slowly dawn on everybody what's happening?
- 1:10:33It's weird because, like, I agree with that.
- 1:10:36But like, on paper, this movie plays out exactly how I would
- 1:10:41like for a lot of movies to play out.
- 1:10:43Like, I don't need a lot of plot to, you know, go through a
- 1:10:47movie, and this movie doesn't really offer a lot.
- 1:10:49But like, I just feel like there's something missing.
- 1:10:52I don't really know if I'm able to put my finger on it exactly,
- 1:10:55but I feel like there's like something from it to make it
- 1:10:58truly great. I just can't.
- 1:11:01I'm sorry, I can't articulate it.
- 1:11:04So yeah, that's much, that's much change, make, figure out
- 1:11:08what I'm trying to think, whoever you are, that's making
- 1:11:11the next one. OK, so Talia was on the couch
- 1:11:16and she was mostly calm. But then during the pool scene,
- 1:11:21she started playing with her rabbit.
- 1:11:22She got really into it. She's afraid of water.
- 1:11:25Not a fan. That scene really got her
- 1:11:28nervous. She's got also all of her
- 1:11:31stuffed friends. They're very important to her.
- 1:11:33She doesn't like to leave them behind.
- 1:11:35In fact, one time we went to the lake and we told her she
- 1:11:38couldn't bring her stuffed Caterpillar, so she swallowed a
- 1:11:42piece of its antenna and spit it up.
- 1:11:44When? We got on house, but I forgot
- 1:11:45about. That so, yeah, she she will not,
- 1:11:48she will not be like Christopher Robin.
- 1:11:49She will not leave them behind. And in fact she kind of sides
- 1:11:51with Pooh and Piglet in this. And I think Talia, for that
- 1:11:54reason gives it a 10 out of 10. Wow, she did fill this one.
- 1:11:57She was filling herself big time during this movie.
- 1:11:59So I I 100% agree with that. Yeah, Joey was on board.
- 1:12:03Yeah, I I recall her watching the whole thing.
- 1:12:06She started off being in the kitchen because it was close to
- 1:12:10food time, but once she got fed, she was.
- 1:12:12She hung out on Lauren Squirt in a shark bed.
- 1:12:15The rest of the movie so. OK, who did you relate to?
- 1:12:27I don't know. I guess.
- 1:12:32I guess, Tina, because I also frequently get lost, even when
- 1:12:37my GPS is telling me to go a certain way.
- 1:12:39I'm like, I don't know that, I believe that.
- 1:12:41That's pretty good shit. I'm going to go with Maria
- 1:12:56because sometimes I wake up in the middle of night and feel
- 1:12:58like I'm being watched. You usually are.
- 1:13:01Battalia, yeah. Battalia, you're going to go out
- 1:13:04at 2:00 AM. No, it's usually Zoe.
- 1:13:05She's up in my face like, hey, hey, I'm watching you.
- 1:13:08She's like, seriously in my face, making eye contact with my
- 1:13:10closed eyes. Just.
- 1:13:11Like watching me, OK? All right, so there is a sequel.
- 1:13:17It's already released so. A lot of people say it's better
- 1:13:21than the first one, so I'm very excited to see it Based off of
- 1:13:23that I. Am too, but let's talk about
- 1:13:26what we would want from a dream sequel.
- 1:13:28We know nothing about the sequel, so.
- 1:13:30I want some of the other friends.
- 1:13:33I want Kanga or Rabbit. A God rabbit was already kind of
- 1:13:39like a grumpy little fuck. Like I would love to see a
- 1:13:41killer rabbit, You know? I.
- 1:13:42Feel like Rabbit would be like the art, the clown of them all.
- 1:13:46Like like go sadistic with their deaths.
- 1:13:49Like we saw Pooh and Piggly and they were already pretty fucked
- 1:13:53up and gnarly with what they do. Like, I feel like Rabbit can
- 1:13:56really, really do some damage. And I want to see like little
- 1:14:00Joey or not Joey Roo. He was Joey and I want to see
- 1:14:05him grown up the way Piglet did I.
- 1:14:07Want to see Tigger? I want to see how they handle
- 1:14:09Tigger bouncing on his tail. Oh my God.
- 1:14:11How are you going to incorporate that in a live action?
- 1:14:13Oh my God. He's got to like have some kind
- 1:14:16of like kill like a Pogo kill, like he like jumps on their head
- 1:14:19with his tail, crushes it. See.
- 1:14:23But what you got to remember is that the wonderful thing about
- 1:14:25Tiggers is that Tigger's a wonderful thing.
- 1:14:27He is a wonderful thing. Yeah, that's very true.
- 1:14:30But what about Plot W? Like, what do we want?
- 1:14:33Like, OK, so like, Christopher, like, is he trying to come back
- 1:14:36with the cops? Like, look, I understand.
- 1:14:39Like, Oh yeah, I know that. Like a hills have eyes two
- 1:14:42thing. Yeah, like he's like, look, you
- 1:14:45guys have had all these reportings of like, mutilated
- 1:14:48pier bag, Big Bear man people out there, I don't fucking know,
- 1:14:53but like, I'm a survivor. Clearly I'm fucked up.
- 1:14:56This is like your hair that whipped me here.
- 1:14:59Don't ask me who that is, but yeah, like he like brings like a
- 1:15:05crew back there to like try and help them take out Poo and
- 1:15:11piglet. But Piglet and Poo bring
- 1:15:14reinforcements of their own with.
- 1:15:16Yeah. The the rest of the crew there.
- 1:15:18I would love to see Tigger like come and do the forest and
- 1:15:21somebody be like tigers don't live around here.
- 1:15:24We're in East Sussex. Yeah, this is, that is true.
- 1:15:28Like Kangaroos too. You know what else I think would
- 1:15:32be fun is in a really, really fucked up way.
- 1:15:36So they maybe they get caught and they're taken to a zoo
- 1:15:41because they like animals, right?
- 1:15:42Maybe they radicalize the other animals in the zoo and they all
- 1:15:46plan an attack on humans. I would like to see something
- 1:15:49like that. I would like to see them in a
- 1:15:50zoo. That would be interesting.
- 1:15:51Like, yeah, what the fuck do you, like, do with them?
- 1:15:54'Cause they're also like, they're being fed, which was
- 1:15:57like a whole thing for them, but they're also being like, watched
- 1:16:00daily by humans, and that's got to be irritating.
- 1:16:02I just have a mad picture. Like, if we're doing more horror
- 1:16:07homages in that one, like, you see poo.
- 1:16:10But he is like Hannibal Lecter and he's got the face mask on or
- 1:16:15he's like got his own tattoo, but now he's talking.
- 1:16:17He's like, ah, Christopher, that'd be nice.
- 1:16:22I can see it. You know, I like both
- 1:16:24approaches. Maybe you can have both of them
- 1:16:26happen in one movie. Like, they.
- 1:16:27Yeah, they swoop in there and get them and actually take them
- 1:16:29to the zoo. Oh, OK, we got it.
- 1:16:32We. Got a There we go, There we go.
- 1:16:33All right, I wonder what the real sequel's like.
- 1:16:35Don't tell us if you've seen it 'cause we're going to watch it.
- 1:16:38Yeah, we got, we got. Spoilers.
- 1:16:39Yeah, it's in theaters. We need to watch it soon.
- 1:16:44OK. All right.
- 1:16:45All right. So we already got A tag on
- 1:16:48Bitch. Better Have my Honey.
- 1:16:50All right, so now it's time for interview.
- 1:16:51Jesse. OK, so I knew that we were
- 1:16:53generally positive about this and I know that there are a lot
- 1:16:56of people that generally aren't and I wanted to find something
- 1:16:58that wasn't just like oh why would they do this to poo.
- 1:17:02So I found somebody that had some actual criticisms. 2 out of
- 1:17:0610 does not utilize its premise. I fully expected Winnie the Pooh
- 1:17:11Blood and honey to have indistinguishable,
- 1:17:13indistinguishable, disposable characters.
- 1:17:15Kills that are gross and mean spirited, a bone thin plot,
- 1:17:18inane dialogue and acting that is mediocre at best.
- 1:17:21I was right about the film having all of those things and I
- 1:17:24didn't mind these things. They're par for the chorus in
- 1:17:27the slasher genre and I embrace the self aware trashiness of it
- 1:17:30all. What I was not prepared for was
- 1:17:32just how boring this movie is, and it's because it does not
- 1:17:35even attempt to make use of its characters that should make for
- 1:17:38a slam dunk of a hilariously enjoyable concept.
- 1:17:40Christopher Robin and his college friends should have been
- 1:17:42the focal characters, but Christopher Robin is barely in
- 1:17:45this movie and instead we get a group of vapid girls who have no
- 1:17:47relation to Christopher. They get killed off instead, and
- 1:17:50there is no reason to care because they're completely
- 1:17:52detached from the connection between Pooh and Christopher.
- 1:17:54At the beginning of the film, it would have been so easy for them
- 1:17:57to capitalize on a concept that could have been that could be
- 1:17:59found only in Winnie the Pooh. The animals kill Christopher's
- 1:18:02family and friends as revenge for him abandoning them, but the
- 1:18:05plot we got could be interchanged with literally any
- 1:18:08other plot in the slasher genre, as it's just a bunch of randos
- 1:18:11getting killed. What also doesn't help is this
- 1:18:13disaster is the awful editing. Almost every shot lasts longer
- 1:18:16than it should, and it makes each scene feel agonizingly
- 1:18:19long. Oh my God.
- 1:18:22I agree with everything that that person says that I think
- 1:18:26that's the thing that's missing. I think I wanted it to be
- 1:18:30Christopher as the main focus because it would have that
- 1:18:35ongoing like thing between them there.
- 1:18:37I feel like it would have like the motivation, the heart like
- 1:18:41'cause you can like. He clearly loved them.
- 1:18:44This scene, this movie could have been a sequel, honestly.
- 1:18:47Like, we get Christopher Robin for the first one and then this
- 1:18:51one where we've got a group of people out in the woods that
- 1:18:54we've already established poo hates people.
- 1:18:55Like, you know what I mean? So I think that could have been
- 1:18:59a decent enough change. But yeah, I do agree.
- 1:19:01Like Christopher Robin, every time he showed up on screen, I
- 1:19:03forgot that he had been in this movie.
- 1:19:06You know, like by the time we would see him again, I'd be
- 1:19:07like, oh, like especially at the end when he hits poo with the.
- 1:19:11Car, that's why. Someone, do you remember?
- 1:19:13Because like. Yeah.
- 1:19:14I I I completely forgot that he was here.
- 1:19:16Like, yeah, he he becomes like an afterthought in this movie
- 1:19:20that he should be like a protagonist in.
- 1:19:23Yeah, it is kind of strange. I agree with like the bad acting
- 1:19:27and editing and I mean, but I like that because like to me
- 1:19:31that stuff did kind of fit in with the genre and type of movie
- 1:19:35that this was, you know, like it just kind of fit for me.
- 1:19:38Like, I it felt at home with horror.
- 1:19:43But yeah, no, I, I I really, That makes me really wish that
- 1:19:46that's what we got now. OK.
- 1:19:48OK. We have you listener reviews.
- 1:19:52We do. OK, cool.
- 1:19:53I'm. I'm happy we've got some.
- 1:19:55Yeah, all righty. So I'm gonna start off with our
- 1:20:02one, one word one on Instagram. It's a apotheosis.
- 1:20:09Productions, they say. Garbage, Garbage.
- 1:20:13Why? Why is it garbage?
- 1:20:14I wouldn't like. I fully respect that, that's
- 1:20:16your opinion, but I would like to know why you think that.
- 1:20:18I'm curious to know too. Like I know a lot of people
- 1:20:21think that it's really stupid. I but I I wanted to know, like,
- 1:20:24is it because, like, is it because if they're using the
- 1:20:27premise of Winnie the Pooh and trying to make a horror movie,
- 1:20:29or did you just not think that would have been a good horror
- 1:20:32movie despite the killer? Like if it would have been
- 1:20:35anybody else? Is it the acting?
- 1:20:36Is it the editing? Is it the facts?
- 1:20:38Like what? What is it that you dislike?
- 1:20:41Cube Saves says Not fun. Seems to have kicked off a
- 1:20:45series of public domain trash coming down the line.
- 1:20:48I'm here for some public domain trash.
- 1:20:50I'm. I'm here.
- 1:20:50For I'm public domain trash. That's fine.
- 1:20:54I hope that they like they don't half ass it.
- 1:21:01I love the idea that they have a cinematic universe that is
- 1:21:06clearly making fun of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with how it
- 1:21:09is because I think that that's hilarious.
- 1:21:13But I just hope that they really, really put effort into
- 1:21:18this thing and not just think like how we did it because it
- 1:21:20was funny. Like no.
- 1:21:22Like, I like take this opportunity and like you have
- 1:21:25like the chance to make something good with it.
- 1:21:29Like prove the people wrong. Like it could be trash, but it
- 1:21:31could also be great. It could be so many things.
- 1:21:37Over on Twitter, Jake Richardson says a good time for sure.
- 1:21:40Better intoxicated for sure. The sequel is much better.
- 1:21:44All right, cool. I'm excited to see the.
- 1:21:45Sequel. Yeah, that's what I've been
- 1:21:47hearing from everybody is that the sequel is better.
- 1:21:49This does seem like a good like have some friends over by
- 1:21:52yourself, like drinkers too, and just kind of like sit back and
- 1:21:57have a good time with it. I feel like that'd be like a
- 1:21:59good fun movie to watch. Like that final review word
- 1:22:02zombie. The idea was great, The acting
- 1:22:04was bad, Some of the actions in the movie were terrible.
- 1:22:07I really wanted this to be good, but it was just so bad.
- 1:22:11It felt like watching a sci-fi movie on the big screen and not
- 1:22:14in a fun way. I get that.
- 1:22:17That's actually I I can totally see this being a sci-fi movie.
- 1:22:20Absolutely. I got the biggest grin on my
- 1:22:23face with that though, 'cause I fucking love a sci-fi movie.
- 1:22:26I understand where they're coming from though.
- 1:22:28Like the sci Like for a long time sci-fi movies were just
- 1:22:32kind of like, not good. I feel like we're now in a era
- 1:22:36where sci-fi movies are actually becoming pretty decent, but I
- 1:22:40felt like this was better than something that would see on
- 1:22:42sci-fi Channel. Like I liked it, but no, I
- 1:22:47totally, totally see it being like pretty comparable to that.
- 1:22:52Definitely. Maybe check out the sequel,
- 1:22:54because yeah, it's sounding like it's pretty good.
- 1:22:56So if you like the premise, at least you know the sequel might
- 1:22:59actually work. We'll report on that and once we
- 1:23:02actually see it, which will probably be sometime soon.
- 1:23:05Hopefully. Yeah.
- 1:23:07All right. That's it for reviews.
- 1:23:10OK. All right.
- 1:23:10So we don't fully have the schedule made out yet.
- 1:23:15I would think that the next movie will be Predator.
- 1:23:17Right. Are we doing OK?
- 1:23:19We can do my pic next. So yeah, next movie that is
- 1:23:21coming on Dylan, we're going to be talking about Predator.
- 1:23:27Yes, it is a horror movie. There is.
- 1:23:30Whenever I ever have questions about whether or not I want to
- 1:23:32cover a movie like this on a podcast, I like to go online and
- 1:23:35see how other people feel about it.
- 1:23:36And from my experience, Predator has been unanimous, unanimously
- 1:23:41decided as a horror movie. And after watching it for the
- 1:23:45first time last year, I can also tell you it's a slasher.
- 1:23:48It's a fucking action movie slasher, and I'm really excited
- 1:23:51to talk about it. It is.
- 1:23:52So much fun and I really am a sucker for Arnie too.
- 1:23:56So. He's good and yeah, he's really
- 1:23:58good. I like the whole cast and crew
- 1:23:59of people there. Yeah, it's like, and we watched
- 1:24:02it and the whole time we're like, oh, that's where that's
- 1:24:04from. That's where that's from.
- 1:24:05Like, I can't believe it took us this long to watch this movie,
- 1:24:08but I'm so happy that we have and I'm very excited to talk
- 1:24:10about it. Yeah, Chad actually goes out to
- 1:24:13you, Chad and Mandy, for giving us a copy of that cause Chad is
- 1:24:19really, really big on that movie.
- 1:24:20And I remember he was like, you've not seen this before?
- 1:24:22And like, yeah, he's like, here, take this.
- 1:24:25Yeah, it's it's pretty yeah, it's pretty serious business.
- 1:24:29So yeah, I'm not gonna read where it's available to watch
- 1:24:31'cause we're recording this on March 30th, and by the time this
- 1:24:36is out, it'll be a new month. Streaming services will likely
