- 0:00The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network. Everybody, this
- 0:03is Kelly Hanson from Foreigner and you're listening to check Talk Radio. Welcome to
- 0:09another episode of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Seanda Weird,
- 0:15and I'm Justin Lemmie. We are the show that talks about computers, tick,
- 0:19analogy, and camping. Oh wait, I'm sorry, Well you know
- 0:24other stuff. I hope you had better luck camping shown than we had trying
- 0:28to start our recording today because it was a nightmare. It's been all seven
- 0:34hours. Yeah, in the amount of time we spent troubleshooting at the beginning
- 0:37of this, I could have installed the backup camera my camper probably ten talks,
- 0:43all right. So there was that easy. Huh, Yeah it was.
- 0:46It was so simple. So we bought a new new camper. We
- 0:52bought a Forest River No Boundaries nineteen point three, which is just the model
- 0:57number, right. It's a it's a toe behind, no slide out with
- 1:00a queen bed up front and bunks in the back. It's great. It's
- 1:03fantastic integrated solar on the roof. Forest River. I don't know if they
- 1:07have a partnership with Furyon. Furyon is a basically a technology vendor for RVs.
- 1:15They make all sorts of stuff, solar solar pan or solar panels,
- 1:18solar batteries, RV cameras, all sorts of stuff. Just look them up
- 1:22furyon dot com. They're also owned by a company called Lippert, which is
- 1:26a large RV manufacturer. Down here in a cart they have what they call
- 1:30a they heard their shark fin camera. It's a rear mount camera kind of
- 1:36looks like a shark fin. Mine came pre wired for the camera, so
- 1:41there's basically just a mount on the back of my camera with a plate on
- 1:45it. Oh wow, I take the plate, I take the plate off,
- 1:47I plug the camera in, and it's one. I'm not joking when
- 1:52I said it took me longer to open the box and unpackage everything than it
- 1:57did for me to plug it in and screwed it. Wow, that's pretty
- 2:00good. So now that's because mine was pre wired. The kit comes with
- 2:05a twelve volt plug and with leads with unsoldered leads on it. Normally,
- 2:09what you would do then is just tie into one of the rear marker lights
- 2:15that runs off the twelve vole system. She just basically splice it into the
- 2:19rest of the rest of the twelve for power. But but what about for
- 2:23the video? Oh? Well, so there's the monitor. It's a four
- 2:24and a half inch monitor. I don't it's in my truck. I don't
- 2:28have it right now. But um, and that just plugs into the cigarette
- 2:30lighter in my truck. Well, what about how do you get the video?
- 2:32How do you get the how does the video comeout? It's wireless?
- 2:35That yeah, it's wireless, two point four gig wireless. So couldn't somebody
- 2:39hack like in between and like get the footage from your camper? Probably,
- 2:45but it's only running runs, it's and I'm driving, so it's not like
- 2:50what are they gonna do with it? They're just gonna see the bumper of
- 2:52my camper. Yeah, true, we get John Stumper. You know,
- 2:59we bought this Fury on camera. I think it was around three bucks for
- 3:02the camera and the transmitter, camera and the monitor. Quality's great. Yeah,
- 3:07it looks it looks great. I'll have to try and see if I
- 3:09can figure out a way to show the video somehow at some point. Um.
- 3:15But it sparked an interesting conversation. So My aunt also bought a new
- 3:19camper this year, and she also has the fury On pre pre wired system
- 3:25in her camper. But she ran into a little bit of a unique situation
- 3:30that I note that I didn't think of, and not really many people didn't
- 3:32think of. Chevy she has she bought a new Chevy Silverado no longer includes
- 3:38the twelve volte DC outlet in their vehicles. Oh yeah, that's something you
- 3:43don't find a lot in cars now, right, Well don didn't They replace
- 3:46it though, with like a standard plug though instead of a cigarette lighter?
- 3:51Right? So, right, so now it's USBA or and USBC plus A
- 3:57most of the new at least her model of the Silverado has a inverted one
- 4:01hundred twenty one hundred twenty volt outlet also, so it's inverting DC to AC.
- 4:06She had to get a USBC to twelve VOLD adapter to power her monitor.
- 4:12My truck still has the you know, my truck's twice seventeen, So
- 4:15my truck still has the cigarette lighter outlet. Right. So it just was
- 4:17kind of funny because I'm worried that Max may not get a very valuable lesson
- 4:21when he gets in a vehicle. What do you mean pushing in the cigarette
- 4:27lighter and then grab it when it comes out. Oh yeah, I've done
- 4:30that, I've done Yeah. So how many of you burned your thumbs because
- 4:33you're like, this is cool. Oh it's totally yep. Oh let me
- 4:38touch it. Yeah. I just thought that was kind of funny because that
- 4:40guy brought up was like, oh man, I remember when I burnt myself
- 4:44on that, or you know, it's funny you think about that movies and
- 4:46stuff, how that pops out and falls in your lap and you know,
- 4:48somebody somebody showed a picture the other day, do you guys remember this.
- 4:54It was a you know, an older car, maybe from the late sixties
- 4:57maybe seventies, and had the back seat see behind the driver's side and the
- 5:01passenger side, a little ashtray that was in the seat like so you would
- 5:08pull it down and there was a little ashtray and a little like lighter.
- 5:13You would do that same thing you would push on, but it was right
- 5:15in the back of the person's seat. Like how safe was that? I
- 5:18mean a lot of cars had that. I mean my first car growing up,
- 5:24we bought it at in the state auction almost mint seventy seven Chevy Malod.
- 5:30That was your first car. Wow, Yeah, it was a Yeah,
- 5:31it was my brother's first car, and then it was mine. Mine
- 5:33was a Vega and so that was it was a brown turd color brown.
- 5:40It was a great description. And I can see it now. It had
- 5:45it had two ashtrays on the backs of the seats. Yeah, like it's
- 5:48one of those weird things. You know. There's not a lot of places
- 5:51that allow smoking anymore, right, very car, it's a very distinct smell.
- 5:57Yeah, if you don't remember when you when you go to a restaurant
- 6:00that you used to you know, you go do like a Big Boy or
- 6:03a Rusts or a place that used to lets people smoke inside that still is
- 6:09relatively old. Just that that this very distinct smell of Remember remember flying about
- 6:16let's say ten to fifteen years ago, you would still see you know,
- 6:20ashtrays, Uh, not not so much in the seats, but like you
- 6:24would still see ashtrays like in the bathrooms or whatever. And you know,
- 6:29they say, slowly, just I remember flying as a kid, you know,
- 6:32I remember my first, very very first flight was like on a DC
- 6:35ten and you had ashtrays in the seats and but they but they obviously didn't
- 6:41allow smoking. But like then as time went on, then you wouldn't have
- 6:45them in the seats, but you would still have them in the laboratories or
- 6:48you know, near the galley. You would have an ashtray. Weren't the
- 6:53ones in the seats. They had like you had the arm rest and it
- 6:56was just kind of flip up like that, Like they didn't bands back in
- 7:00the sixties. You had a fan, it was in your armrest. How
- 7:04great was that? You drop it right in your lap? Yeah, yeah,
- 7:11sounds miserable. Well, and it's funny because you mentioned the restaurants Sean,
- 7:15Uh, do you guys have cracker barrel there? Oh? Yeah,
- 7:17because we have crack for the Cross was of America baby, so I we
- 7:24had a cracker. We have a cracker Borough still in it's right off Cortero
- 7:27in Morana. And they were the ones of the last places, the last
- 7:31bastions next to Old Father that would allow people to smoke. But they had
- 7:35a special section. And it's funny though, because you would walk, you
- 7:40would walk into the restaurant and as you get closer to the section, then
- 7:43you could you could smell that and people swear to me to this day they
- 7:46could still smell that, and even though that's been gone for many, many
- 7:49men, many years. Oh well, of course you can. I mean,
- 7:51you can always smell unless you get rid of every piece of interior of
- 7:56your restaurant. You know you're gonna smell that. I mean, I remember
- 7:59we're at Dennis off of let's see, what was it, Oracle and Orange
- 8:05Grove. Oh, yeah, I know that one, you know, yeah,
- 8:07yeah, or no, there was no there was an Oracle and I
- 8:13want to see it was no, maybe not Orange Grove. It was something.
- 8:16It was north of it was north of River, it was I can't
- 8:20remember if it was Orange Grove or Wood anyway, but there was another Denny's
- 8:22up there near near Ora Valley, and I worked there and I worked the
- 8:26smoking section because well at that time I smoked. I didn't mind, you
- 8:30know, working in the smoking section. But yeah, I remember that,
- 8:33like you had, half the restaurant was non smoking, half the restaurant was
- 8:37smoking. But it's like there was no divider, there was nothing to separate.
- 8:43And then fast forward a couple of years, all of a sudden they
- 8:45took that same restaurant and what they did was they just put a big glass
- 8:48wall around the smoking section and like, yeah, if you want to smoke,
- 8:52going there. But the thing is that the rest of the restaurant still
- 8:56smelled like smoke. I thought it was funny too. If you flow,
- 9:00well you've flown, you know that they had a smoking lounge inside the terminal
- 9:05and it was like a glass case. So if somebody wanted to have a
- 9:11smoke, they would go into this glass case and people would walk by you
- 9:13the room was like full of smoke. Well no, and I'll say the
- 9:20last time I actually they still have them. They still have them in Tokyo
- 9:24in Narita Narita Airport because Japan still has a very large smoking population. I
- 9:30mean it was actually a study that just got released or in America recently,
- 9:33it was something about what fifty years ago, sixty five percent of American smoked
- 9:37and now it's daring like sixteen percent wow smoke, So like it's really considerably
- 9:43dropped. But in Japan, a lot of people still smoke, and they
- 9:48actually have a smoking lounge. But what's interesting is like in Japan, you
- 9:50walk by a smoking lounge in the mall or in the airport and you don't
- 9:58smell anything. They've got amazing air filtration systems. It's like, but all
- 10:03the smoke, right, oh god, yeah, I mean yeah, but
- 10:07you walk into that room because I walked in there, you know, to
- 10:09go vape, you know, because I mean, I'm you're not supposed to
- 10:11vape outside of the room or whatever, so I went I walked in to
- 10:13go vape. The moment you walk in there, it's like a jet engine.
- 10:18It's like, I mean, and in people like they exhale and it
- 10:22just gets immediately evacuated. But the thing is is when you walk out,
- 10:28yeah, you smell so bad because you're talking about ten or fifteen people in
- 10:33a room smoking cigarettes. That stuff gets on your clothes, gets on your
- 10:37skin, and even though I yeah, in your hair, I walked.
- 10:41I walked in there for not even thirty seconds to go take two quick little
- 10:45vapes, right, two quick little vapes. I walk out. I go
- 10:48sit at my table with my family in Japan and they're like, did you
- 10:52just smoke a cigarette? I'm like, no, no, what are you
- 10:54talking about. They're like, you smell like smoke. I'm like, well,
- 10:56because everybody else and there was smoking. But but they do have a
- 11:00very good uh filtration system in all their smoking lounges, even though it's really
- 11:07loud. I like, you know, if you look at the way technology
- 11:09has has looked at that, and we've slowly seen that disappear, and now
- 11:13you don't find lighters in cars anymore. That's or even ashtrays for that matter.
- 11:20But look at some of the other things that have been pulled from vehicles.
- 11:22And now the big talk is AM radio. Oh my god, you
- 11:26guys talked about with electric cars. I know that you talked about this justin
- 11:31not too long ago. ATSC three is and that's gonna be maybe some rescue
- 11:39when it comes to that. But for anybody that is thinking about buying an
- 11:41electric car, that's one of the things I've heard that you give up,
- 11:45you give up that AM radio in your car. Well, they're they're talking
- 11:48about. Yes, the reason behind this, the the the tech technological reason
- 11:54behind it is that electric cars, they're electric system of the electric motor interferes
- 12:03with the frequency range that AM radio uses radio on a microwave while you're cooking,
- 12:11yes something yeah, something like that. But it's it's it's that it
- 12:16interferes with that you're not even going to be able to receive AM. But
- 12:20there is actually a congressional petition being sent out to say, you know,
- 12:26look, you can't get rid of AM radio because you know, even though
- 12:31AM radio is old technology by today's standards, I mean you've got FM radio,
- 12:37now you've got satellite radio, and then you got streaming and all that
- 12:39HD radio. Yes, but AM radio still serves a major purpose when it
- 12:46comes to emergencies. And when there's an emergency, what do people turn to
- 12:54They turn to their radio because a lot of times you're not going to have
- 12:58television. If there's a massive agency and you've got a power outage or something
- 13:01like that, you can't turn on your TV. What can you turn on
- 13:05a battery powered radio or even just yeah, or even just getting a battery
- 13:11pack and plugging your little portable radio into it, and now you've got radio.
- 13:18And radio provides a lot of stuff, I mean a lot of good
- 13:22information. I mean, what was a queen with a radio gaga right talking
- 13:28about how you know radio has met its match and no, no, radio
- 13:31still serves a purpose. Yeah, radio definitely serves a purpose. And so
- 13:35what they're trying to do is they're trying to say, either you know,
- 13:39technology carmakers figure out a way to make this work, or figure out a
- 13:46way with the FCC to change the frequencies of AM radio so that way AM
- 13:52radio can shift. Now, granted, the former is obviously the easier solution.
- 13:58You know you're trying to if you talk about changing every AM radio's frequency
- 14:03to something else, right, it's not gonna happen. No, not gonna
- 14:05happen. And and they're saying, well, why don't AM radio just switch
- 14:09to FM? Well, there's a lot of stations out there. They can't
- 14:13they can't afford it. Yeah, there, but there are some stations that
- 14:16are making a lot of money on their AM. So the idea is,
- 14:20okay, well, if that's going to happen, then they moved to an
- 14:22FM frequency. Are they gonna have as much range? No? I mean
- 14:26that's the benefit for AM radio. I mean, how many times have the
- 14:28range? How many times have you been driving across the country or you know,
- 14:33I took a drive up to Idaho and I remember I was able to
- 14:35pick up AM radio for a great distance. This station that we're on,
- 14:41you could pick it up far away. I mean, and sometimes all of
- 14:45a sudden boom, it's there again. I mean it's it's pretty amazing.
- 14:48Yeah, the range for AM radio is there, and like you said,
- 14:50in an emergency situation, it's gonna be one of those things. But if
- 14:54they come up with this new ATSC three for radio, that could be one
- 15:00way. That's for TV though, true, but I think the original concept
- 15:03is for use for television. But now they're actually looking at it. As
- 15:07of last month the study was done. They're looking at ATSC three point zero
- 15:11for radio to see how that would actually help improve to get AMFM radio in
- 15:16homes where we see some radio's disappearing. I've I've not heard about that.
- 15:20I don't know. I remember our old stomping grounds Andy. Oh yeah,
- 15:24we actually both worked at another radio station together in town. Not doing this
- 15:30tech show, but although you did come in onto the tech show a little
- 15:33later on, but we both worked at a radio station. The head AMFMS.
- 15:37So I remember when I used to be the the PD, right,
- 15:41the program director. I remember boss at one time. At one time,
- 15:45yeah, for a little bit. Yeah, I was after after you know,
- 15:48Chapman passed away. Yeah, I became PD for a little while until
- 15:52I joined the Navy. But I remember receiving a call from a guy in
- 15:58I want to say it was Ohio, right, and he was like,
- 16:00Yo, I'm picking up your station in Ohio. My god. See,
- 16:06so you maybe thinking, okay, how did you pick up a station so
- 16:08far away? All right, justin how was that station laid out? When
- 16:12it comes to you know, the power settings on that station. During the
- 16:17day, we would be at ten thousand watts, and then at night we
- 16:19would drop down to one thousand watts because at night the propagation is much farther.
- 16:25Right, radio waves travel much farther in the ionosphere at night without the
- 16:30heat of the sun. Right, Yeah, So at night one night,
- 16:36there was a problem with the transfer switch and I remember remember Old Hank,
- 16:41Remember engineer good old Hank. Yeah, yeah, Well, so so there
- 16:44was a problem where a rat got into the transfer switch and the switch went
- 16:49to go bang, and it didn't complete the circuit because the rat was in
- 16:56the way. So we stayed at ten thousand watts while this rat just got
- 17:00fried. Yeah, and we stayed at ten thousand watts overnight. And this
- 17:04guy in Ohio was like, yeah, I'm I'm, I'm I'm picking up
- 17:07Tucson in Ohio. Yeah, the clear Knight, Yeah, definitely clear Night.
- 17:14Yeah. Yeah. It's it's interesting what they're gonna do for it is
- 17:18said that they're gonna be pulling AM radio out of their vehicles as well,
- 17:22or and that's still shouldn't be except one fifty lightning they'll still have it will
- 17:29still include the AM radio. I don't know, it's just it's what it
- 17:32says. Reading an article from Autoblog, uh, and it says Mercedes has
- 17:37their EKE vehicles have AM from radios, right. Um, they're signing the
- 17:44decline of AM radio usage in Europe and the US has big reasons. Tesla
- 17:48and Rivian don't have it. Fisker and Lucid do still have AMFM radios.
- 17:53Um because they say that there are still enough listeners in the US to warrant
- 17:57it. Yeah. Uh yeah. So then this goes into the you know
- 18:03ed Markey, the senator from Massachusetts is the one that wrote that article.
- 18:07Hey, bis marquis no Ed markeyos from Massachusetts says, hey, automakers deal
- 18:15with the e M shielding and maintain them radio. You know it because a
- 18:21any phase out of broadcast radio could pose a significant communication problem during Immerse,
- 18:26which Justin covered. Y that's exactly what yep. Yeah, and it's needed,
- 18:30so it should it should certainly still be around now. Speaking of this,
- 18:33Justin told us something just before the show that had us go, huh,
- 18:37you're actually thinking about getting yourself one of these electric vehicles. Well yeah,
- 18:44I mean we're we're looking at it. I mean, it's it's it's
- 18:45time. I mean, Messa's vehicle is getting kind of old. I mean
- 18:48it's it's the twenty thirteen Ford Cmax, but we're having problems with it.
- 18:52I mean a lot of times. I mean, you made me feel terrible.
- 18:56Gloria is driving around into two thousand and one FOURD Escape and you're saying,
- 19:00mesas car is old. It's a twenty thirteen. Well your car is
- 19:04really old. Yeah, yeah, but no. But the thing is is
- 19:08hers is a hybrid, so hers is electronic. But also this was her
- 19:11The car that she got was only released for I want to say, two
- 19:15years. It was kind of like an experimental car because they didn't make the
- 19:18Cmax much after that, and the entertainment system, the computer system that runs
- 19:25the whole car, I want to say, was probably designed by some high
- 19:30school engineers because it is. It is absolutely horrible. It was the first
- 19:34edition of sinc you know, the Microsoft for sync board sink. Yes,
- 19:38yeah, it was the first edition of that. And the problem is now
- 19:41that she has it where half the time when she turns off her vehicle,
- 19:45the radio won't turn off. The radio just keeps playing even though she's turned
- 19:48off her vehicle. She has to pull a fuse. She has to get
- 19:51on the passenger side, get underneath. I mean I've taught her how to
- 19:55use the needle nosed pliers and like, first off that yeah, well,
- 19:59first off, I shouldn't have to teach her how to use a needle nose
- 20:02players. But we're not going to go there. Um, but yes,
- 20:04I've had a teacher where which fused to pull? And then other half the
- 20:07time her battery just doesn't want to turn over, Like there's just nothing.
- 20:11Like you get in the car and it's dead as a doornail. You have
- 20:12to literally jump the car to let the battery know. Oh yep, I'm
- 20:15still alive. Yep. Okay, yeah, I'm good. And this is
- 20:18a hybrid. This is a hybrid, okay, and it's got like sixty
- 20:22five thousand miles on it. I mean, it's it's starting to get up
- 20:25there. But it being in a hybrid with a battery system, it's like
- 20:27a it's like a Prius, Like think of a Prius, right, No,
- 20:32because the Vault is straight electric like a Prius is like a hybrid,
- 20:36right yeah, So it is a definitely a hybrid. It's got the gas
- 20:38engine, but it does have a battery and it's just getting to the point
- 20:42where it's not good. So we started talking about it, and I'm like,
- 20:47you know, looking at different you know, electric vehicles, and we
- 20:48came across Tesla obviously, and you know Tesla there, Um, what is
- 20:56it? The model? Why the hatchback? It looks a little bit like
- 20:57a Cmax. Their hatchback is on sale. I mean, I won't you
- 21:03want to say on sale. For some reason, they drastically lowered the price.
- 21:06Now granted, at of the time of this recording, the price has
- 21:10already gone back up a little bit, but it got to a point where
- 21:14you could buy a brand new model why for out the door, out the
- 21:18door of the dealership forty five thousand dollars, which is below the cost of
- 21:23a typical new car. Now it's back up to about fifty. But that's
- 21:26still the average for a new car, and considering that this is considered a
- 21:30luxury vehicle, it's well below the average for a luxury vehicle. So we're
- 21:37looking at it. But she wants to go. She wants to go test
- 21:41drive one and and for good reasure, you know, to make sure she
- 21:44likes it. The problem is Tesla. They don't seem to care because they're
- 21:48only open Monday through Friday, nine to five. They're not open on the
- 21:52weekends. You can't go to a Tesla dealership and test drive a car on
- 21:56Saturday or Sunday. I literally have to take time off work to go to
- 22:00a Tesla dealership to buy a Tesla. Wow, that's stupid. Yeah,
- 22:07or just buy its side unseen and it gets still everything you drive. Well,
- 22:10okay, so there you go. Yeah you could do that. You
- 22:11can just buy a sight unseen and go pick it up. Now that's the
- 22:14good thing about it. You can just place your order online. They don't
- 22:17do negotiations. You can't walk into a Tesla Edition and be like, well,
- 22:19yeah, that's a good Tesla, but you want fifty thousand, I'll
- 22:25give you forty five. Nope, Nope, it's it's literally the price on
- 22:29the car, that's what you pay. But the beauty of that is now
- 22:32you can just go online. I can just go on to Tesla dot com
- 22:33and just buy a Tesla straight up and be like, Okay, I'll go
- 22:37pick it up tomorrow. But there's a lot of problems with the Tesla cars
- 22:42that I'm I'm starting to understand better and I'm starting to realize, and I'm
- 22:47wondering if maybe the reason that they lowered the price is to get rid of
- 22:52all the models that have had problems and they're going to replace it with something
- 22:57different later. I don't know. I'm not exactly sure, but we can
- 23:00we can definitely talk about some of those things in the next segment. But
- 23:04I did want to touch upon is that you know, I can buy the
- 23:11car straight up, we can go pick it up, and then she just
- 23:15has to get used to it. But the big concern that she has is
- 23:18that screen in the middle, Like everything is controlled by the screen. There's
- 23:23no buttons anywhere in the car. Really. Now, your left hand side
- 23:27of the screen wheel, you still have your left and right turn signals,
- 23:32you have your high beams and whatnot. Your Your headlights are automatically automatic.
- 23:37You don't have to ever turn on your headlights. It's automatic. Your windshield
- 23:41wipers are completely automatic. There is no windshield wiper turn on or turn off.
- 23:45It is just automatic within the app on the on the tablet, you
- 23:52can you can adjust the speed, but they just turn on automatically. The
- 23:56on the right side where you would normally find your windshield wipe is your park,
- 24:00reverse and drive and neutral. So those are the only two physical switches
- 24:07or buttons you have in your car. Everything else is controlled by the tablet.
- 24:11Now, this wouldn't be one of the cars that drives themselves, right,
- 24:15No, this car does not include the self driving kid, but it
- 24:18does come with a basic self driving But if you want to get the full
- 24:22self driving, you're talking about another fifteen thousand dollars on top of it.
- 24:26We got to take a break. But question for each of us, Sean,
- 24:30if you could do self driving, would you no? Justin, Yes,
- 24:36I wouldn't. I don't trust it me too. All Right, we'll
- 24:41be back with more of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean
- 24:45Weird, and I'm Justin. Let me find us online at tech Talk Radio.
- 24:48Dot Com. We'll be right back now back to TikTok Radio. So
- 24:53before the break, we were talking about what I'm thinking about doing, and
- 24:57that's getting a Tesla. Um. So one of the things that I was
- 25:03discovering about the Tesla's though watching this video. I watched a couple of videos
- 25:07on YouTube about from some different owners and then there's a couple of different owners
- 25:11that have you know, had it for over a year, and what they've
- 25:15had to say about it was the overall the car is amazing. I mean
- 25:21the driving of the car. They all say the same thing, like,
- 25:25you never get used to driving the car. It always excites you. It's
- 25:30it's an exciting car to drive all the time. But the problems they're having
- 25:36is manufacturing issues with the car. There are air gaps between the panels and
- 25:45these gaps will increase over time as the car is stressed in certain fashions h
- 25:52going over bumps or whatever. Um from going over a bump to having your
- 25:56your your bumper just fall off or or come loose or the panel between the
- 26:03driver and passenger door separates by a couple millimeters. And Tesla's like, yeah,
- 26:11that's within spec. It's fine, but it's like, no, it's
- 26:14not. You've got like a giant gap in your car, like, this
- 26:17isn't this isn't supposed to happen with with a brand new vehicle, especially a
- 26:22luxury vehicle like you should and if in Tesla's it's not repairing them, they're
- 26:26just like, no, this is within spec. You just if it happens
- 26:29again, come back and we'll fix it. The guy was like, my
- 26:32bumper literally fell off. How am I supposed to drive with a bumper falling
- 26:38off? Well, you know, just just popping back in place. And
- 26:41the guy was like and he just popped it back in place, and he's
- 26:42like, oh, well, you know, if it falls off again,
- 26:45just come back and tell us, like you want just lego car. Yeah,
- 26:49I'm like, dude, I just paid fifty five thousand dollars for this
- 26:52car. You're telling me that I could just pop the bumper back in place,
- 26:56like, no, no, fix it, you know. But the
- 27:00thing is is Tesla is not doing any recalls, you know, And that's
- 27:03and also the other the other factor is the charging of the car. Right,
- 27:10so you've got you've got three options when it comes to charging a Tesla,
- 27:12and I'm sure This probably goes for a lot of electrical vehicles. You've
- 27:18got the standard one ten outlet that you can just plug into a regular outlet,
- 27:26and you only get around three to four miles per hour of charging.
- 27:32So wow, you charge it overnight, you're gonna get about thirty miles out
- 27:36of it, right. But if you take it from home to work,
- 27:40and your work also has a charging port, well, then you can just
- 27:44charge it there during your working hours and then you take it home, and
- 27:47but you get like thirty to forty miles or so for like an eight hour
- 27:51charge. Right. The other option is you install a two hundred and twenty
- 27:56volt charging station in your home. So you have to buy and this is
- 28:02this is four hundred and fifty dollars on Tesla's website, and then you have
- 28:06to pay the electrician to come out and install a two hundred and twenty volts
- 28:08you know circuit and hook this up, and then you got to drag the
- 28:12cord across the you know, the garage or whatever. I mean. Some
- 28:15people might be able to put their charger right next to their their their Tesla
- 28:18ours. Our panel is actually located in the garage or main electrical panel that
- 28:26is, but it's on my side of the garage where I park my car,
- 28:30and Mesa is not gonna Mesa's not gonna switch the sides of the garage
- 28:33where she parks. Just to you know, seven years of muscle memory is
- 28:37not going to change overnight. We're not gonna switch the way we park our
- 28:40cars. So we would have to drag that cord across the garage every time
- 28:45we want to charge. The third option is the supercharger. Now, Tesla
- 28:49has been putting in superchargers all across the nation, and Sean you probably have
- 28:53heard of these things. You know, they're they're they're they're everywhere. They're
- 28:56like every one hundred miles or so, you've got a supercharger. The problem
- 29:02with supercharging is you're you're stressing your battery. If you use a supercharger all
- 29:07the time, you're gonna lose life on your battery. You're gonna lose about
- 29:12ten percent of your battery every year. What's the life Do we know what
- 29:17the lifespan is of those batteries yet? We don't know the life span,
- 29:22but we know the warranty. The warranty is I want to say, it's
- 29:26it's it's eight years or two hundred thousand miles. Okay um, And that's
- 29:33the life span on the battery. But again, if you're using supercharging,
- 29:37which again supercharging is the best because you can you can get like fifty percent
- 29:41of your battery back within one hour. But you're basically putting four hundred and
- 29:45forty volts into your car at any given moment. You're you're overloading your battery.
- 29:52Tell me again why you want to buy this thing? Wait? And
- 29:57also you're driving down a road. There's no sound, right, I mean
- 30:00is there a sound? Oh? Okay, speaking of sounds, this is
- 30:06the coolest part about the Tesla. Right right, we have a friend of
- 30:08ours has a Tesla. Every seat has a speaker in it, embedded in
- 30:15the seat. Right. It's more of a subwoffer. Really, every single
- 30:19seat has a subwoffer you can get I am not joking here. You can
- 30:26make every seat fart. We needed that. Why would you want that?
- 30:30Because it's funny. I just bring my uncle and have him sit in the
- 30:33car. That's that's what we paid fifty five thousand dollars for. What have
- 30:37we come to? I remember used to because you had a big V eight
- 30:41you know engine in it, and it would make a lot of noise basically,
- 30:45and now you're just it basically turns the UI into a seat map that
- 30:49you can drop a whoope because over the seat and press the whoa. Now,
- 30:55now, the Tesla does have a feature, I believe, and correct
- 30:57me if I'm wrong, Seun, because you're kind of looking this up the
- 31:00background. But I do believe the Tesla does have an external speaker that you
- 31:04can pump a sound of a vehicle through it if you need to. You
- 31:08can pump a sound of a typical vehicle, so it will make a noise
- 31:14as it's driving some people, some people have said that that's of concern for
- 31:18an area like seeing two soon. We have the Arizona School for the h
- 31:22deaf and blind, and you know, they're you know, going down the
- 31:26street, they go off auditory if they're blind, and they they you know,
- 31:32they can't tell if a car's there. And I'm I'm that's been a
- 31:36concern for many people. So it happens that the sound would definitely help that.
- 31:41Yeah, they have all I'm not sure when this article is written,
- 31:45but it says at the time this article is written, I'm trying to freditate.
- 31:48All model threes have the pedestrian Alert sound generator. So its fact that
- 31:53there's a pedestrian in that area, is that what it is? Yeah,
- 31:59So it looks like it's got a speaker. It makes noise. I think
- 32:04it makes some sort of like an not really necessarily ultrasonic, but it makes
- 32:07the kind of like a sonic, you know, pinging noise to let so
- 32:12that way somebody who's walking by will here or something like that where they'll be
- 32:15like, oh, there's a car there or something. You know. I've
- 32:19I've heard people talking about the Tesla's and other electric vehicles, and I've heard
- 32:23them talking about, you know, the different comforts the screen, how everything
- 32:28has run off the screen. We've heard the stories about the negative sides when
- 32:32it comes to the self driving vehicles, some of those incidents that have happened.
- 32:37Then we've heard some positives when it come off of it. But you
- 32:39know, the one thing is driveability. Like Sean said, I like to
- 32:45drive, and I got no problem taking a twenty hour drive. I've done
- 32:47that before, all right, and maybe not twenty hours along, but Sean,
- 32:52the same thing. How comfortable is this vehicle? I mean I would
- 32:57hope for that amount of money and for what you're you're doing, it gonna
- 33:00be one of the most comfortable rides you've ever had. I I personally have
- 33:04written in an a Tesla and I can say that it is absolutely fantastic.
- 33:08It is so comfortable. Sean, have you ever written in Tesla? No,
- 33:13I've done never. I haven't either. It is it is, it
- 33:16feels. It feels like AE hundred thousand dollar car. I mean it,
- 33:22it's very comfortable. The seats even though they I think, what what they
- 33:24what they call him? I heard something like they call them vegan leather,
- 33:28which is just a fancy name for rubber. Um No, I mean seriously,
- 33:32like the seats are just literally rubber, but they call him vegan leather,
- 33:36right yeah, um yeah, this it's ridiculous, but um but no,
- 33:40the seats are comfortable that they all all the seats have Every Tesla has
- 33:46heating and cooling seats, so like if you're in Tucson or whatever, you
- 33:52could actually set your car to have. Well, that's another cool feature.
- 33:55I didn't mention about this, like places like extreme temperatures like way North where
- 34:00it's super cold during the winter, or way down South where it's super hot,
- 34:02like or Tucson when it's super hot during the summer. You can open
- 34:07up the Tesla app and say, you know, hey, I'm going to
- 34:09come to my vehicle here in thirty minutes. I want it at this temperature.
- 34:13When I get there, the temperature the car will turn on, set
- 34:15the temperature inside, cool it down, cool your seats down, and that
- 34:21way, when you get into your car, that car is the perfect temperature
- 34:23for you. No more having to get into a super hot car or a
- 34:28super cold car. I actually like the sound of that. That actually would
- 34:30be kind of cool. That'd be a neat feature to have. I've just
- 34:35I don't know that's that worries me about the battery, And it's not for
- 34:39the environmental reasons we've heard. It's just I mean, I'm used to a
- 34:43car with an engine, and I know engines could burn out. Maybe I
- 34:46just don't understand it. Well. You also don't have to pay think about
- 34:50it, if you get an electric vehicle like a Tesla or like a Rivion
- 34:52or you know even some of the major manufacturers that have all electric now you're
- 34:57not having to pay for gas, You're not having to pay for oil,
- 35:00like oil changes. You're not having to pay for regular engine maintenance. You're
- 35:05not having I think the only thing you have to pay for it really is
- 35:07like a like an AC recharge, you know, every you know higher seven
- 35:12years yeah, or tires, yeah, tires. But otherwise you're saving a
- 35:16lot of money when it comes to it. Now. I didn't mention this
- 35:19earlier, but I mentioned like, if you were to walk out of a
- 35:22dealership, you're looking at paying around fifty five thousand dollars to get a decent
- 35:25model, y right, But what you're saving in gas over and then they
- 35:30proudly tout this on their website, but you're saving approximately you know, sixty
- 35:37five hundred dollars a year in gas. You're also getting a seventy five hundred
- 35:40dollar federal income tax credit. You're getting a state credit which happened to be
- 35:45for Colorado. I don't know about other states, but for Colorado it's a
- 35:49twenty five hundred dollar tax rebate. So when you add up all of that
- 35:55plus the lack of cost of maintenance, you're talking about, you know,
- 35:59a hundred bucks every six months to get oil change, you're looking at walking
- 36:02out of there. After everything's said and done, about thirty two to thirty
- 36:07three thousand dollars for a brand new Tesla when you take the deck. The
- 36:09cost is that the electrical costs though. Well, okay, so they talk
- 36:15about this. To charge the tesla, you're looking at around approximate depends on
- 36:19where you live. Because the electricity prices vary. You're looking at between four
- 36:22and six hundred dollars a year a year to charge a tesla. Yeah,
- 36:27that's not bad. Now, what's the range on them? Because if I
- 36:30wanted to drive to California, say, you know the model Yeah, you're
- 36:35gonna need to charge it. But the standard model Why and again there's mini
- 36:38models, so everyone varies, but the standard model Y gets two hundred and
- 36:43seventy miles per charge. The long range edition of the model Why, which
- 36:46is about seven thousand dollars more, gets about three hundred and thirty miles,
- 36:52right, and then you just have to make sure wherever you're going they're gonna
- 36:54have charging stations. Sure. And that is a beauty of a tesla is
- 37:00if you start to get to the point where you're starting to get low,
- 37:01your tesla will automatically reroute you to a charging station dependent it doesn't matter where
- 37:07you're going. It's like, Nope, it's time to sleep, and it
- 37:10will say you need to go this way now. You need to get to
- 37:13this charging station right now, or else you're going to have a bad day.
- 37:15Now, Sean, I know that the trailer you bought is pulled by
- 37:20a big truck. That truck is not electric, is it? It is
- 37:22nice? What type of engine do you have to have in that to pull
- 37:25a trailer like the size you got? So the size that I have right
- 37:30by. I have a twenty seventeen Colorado. It's got a two point seven
- 37:37leader V six I think, yeah, sounds of us those right, tell
- 37:39us it just fine. I think the growls value weight loaded with water and
- 37:44everything, it's just over five thousand pounds. Wow. I wouldn't want to
- 37:46tell much more net with my Colorado right upgrading to a Silverado or something a
- 37:52little bit larger would be ideal. To go up any larger. I get
- 37:59about thirteen miles to the gallon roum toeing. That's got a good day.
- 38:04Yeah, thirteen miles. It's like that old jag I used to have,
- 38:08Oh my god, in the X twelve. Yeah, terrible car. Some
- 38:12guy here. Bought it. When I sold it for five hundred bucks,
- 38:15it was terrible. He's probably listening. It's you know, I've seen Tesla
- 38:22tow their their stuvs can tow right, and it's just i'd be so I
- 38:27go camping where there's no charging stations, an electric vehicle doesn't make sense for
- 38:32me. I don't live near Denver, I don't live near Phoenix. I
- 38:37don't live near the big cities that you guys live by. Right, Yeah,
- 38:42you know if I lived near Chicago or a suburb of Chicago, or
- 38:45a suburb of Detroit, or you know, somewhere where I had more infrastructure
- 38:51in place to have an electric vehicle. Sure. Now, granted there are
- 38:54Teslas here and there, there are some superstars charging stations here. I just
- 38:59go more places in camp, more places than I would feel comfortable having.
- 39:02Just act you don't want to depend on Yeah, yeah, I think it's
- 39:07gonna else. Yeah, it's gonna be where depending on where you live.
- 39:09For you, maybe the best thing is like a hybrid, so you could
- 39:13get the best of both worlds. Oh yeah, like Caitlin's Rav we have
- 39:16she has RAV four. That's a hybrid. It's not a plug in hybrid,
- 39:20but it's it's a hybrid and it gets really good. Is almost forty
- 39:23miles of the gallon on the highway. Yeah, so I mean we're not
- 39:29opposed to the hybrid or you know, she had a pres for the longest
- 39:32time, which was way hybrid, and she had that from twenty thirteen until
- 39:37she got to an accident. I don't think they're that ugly, but like
- 39:42a boot, all right. Yeah, everybody boos on the you know the
- 39:45priests and they're I think they're cool, and I think the Freest Primes are
- 39:50pretty cool. I think I like them. I don't know. All right,
- 39:52another quick we come back. I got a new product to show you
- 39:54guys. Tomorrow's Mother's Day, so we'll talk about maybe some gift ideas for
- 39:59Mother's Day. Will we come back with more of tech talk Radio. I'm
- 40:01Andy Taylor, I'm Seanda Weird, and I'm justin. Let me tweet us
- 40:06at tech talk Radio. You'll be right back and now back to tech talk
- 40:09Radio. Mother's Day is tomorrow, of course, you know, celebrate moms
- 40:15everywhere, so we thank you for those whose moms are no longer with us.
- 40:19Um there certainly in everybody's thoughts. So did a segment on chemistry Fox
- 40:23eleven and Studio showing off the Echo x gear. Big huge, massive,
- 40:30big radio. This thing is enormous as an amos, as an Amazon uh
- 40:36no Eco x gear. Um, it's it's it's called the Tundra. What's
- 40:42cool about this is you can actually pick it up and throw it into a
- 40:46pool. It's i P sixty seven resistant uh and it's got fifty about fifty
- 40:52hours of battery life on it. You could charge you know, charge it
- 40:54up. You'll get about fifty hours of use. Um. It's so heavy
- 40:59and so mass with a speaker that it comes with wheels and like a handle
- 41:04almost like a laptop bag that's on you know, on wheels, and you
- 41:07can you know, move it around. It's got Bluetooth, you can plug
- 41:10a microphone into. It's got a USBND amazing. I was really impressed by
- 41:16it. Huge. Echo x Gear is the company, and this one is
- 41:22the Echo Tundra, and I think it has AM on it uh huh and
- 41:28has FM. It has uh the ability to plug in a microphone, so
- 41:31you could use it as a loud speaker. So justin you do the mobile
- 41:36decase stuff that'd be kind of cool. And then holders and a bottle opener
- 41:40and a bottle opener. That's one thing I need to even mentioned in the
- 41:45TV segment. I had a bottle opener on it, so you know,
- 41:46if you're out there by the pool or if you put it in the pool
- 41:50with you while you're swimming. Oh my god, this thing can assist in
- 41:54childbirth. What it's no, not that, not that Sorry, wrong site.
- 42:04Yeah, but that was a cool product. I showed showed the Samsung
- 42:09Galaxy tab A eight, which I love. That's a nice Android tablet and
- 42:15you, being an Android user justin I knew you would appreciate that. And
- 42:19then we showed fur Zapper, the most non technical thing I think I've ever
- 42:22shown, but I like how they're using the Internet to market their product.
- 42:27It's fur Zapper. And what it is the glove? Do you now?
- 42:30Do you have dogs? You have cats? I have a cat? You
- 42:34have any cats? Sean, you don't have anyone. We don't have any
- 42:36pets, No pets. It's a glove. You put the glove on and
- 42:38you pet your your Oh I've seen these yet? Yeah, And then it
- 42:42pull you can pull all the fur off the glove and it's just it's nice
- 42:45for the cat and it's nice for you too. You don't get all the
- 42:47fur all over your hand. But one thing I just I didn't get in
- 42:51time, and I just got this in it's aries gadgets and you guys could
- 42:55see this, right, So uh La sent this to me because she saw
- 43:00it and thought this was kind of cool. This is what it is.
- 43:05How many times have you've gotten somewhere and you need it at your own keyboard
- 43:08or you want to use your keyboard with your smartphone? Right? This thing?
- 43:14Check this out, guys. It unfolds and it's a Bluetooth keyboard and
- 43:20it has a mouse pad on it, a touch pad, so you can
- 43:24use that. And what's nice about it When you're not going to be using
- 43:28it, you just fold it up and take it with you. Sells for
- 43:31a thirty bucks and it can be used with your smartphones, your tablets,
- 43:37or anywhere you need your very own Bluetooth capable keyboard. And it does have
- 43:42a USB connector in it so you can charge it up as well, so
- 43:45it doesn't have to be tethered. Can just how cool is you just pull
- 43:47up, sit down and go and that's from Airs pretty cool Aares gadgets,
- 43:52So that's kind of a neat thing. I like that. Yeah. So
- 43:58did you see Dungeons of Dragons? I have not. Yeah, and what
- 44:02do you think of a Sean? I thought it was great. It from
- 44:07somebody who plays Dungeon Dragons. The the movie feels and watches like you're playing
- 44:16the game. Oh, really nice, the pacing, the banter combat,
- 44:22and you know, just kind of every aspect of D and D you feel
- 44:28it. It's it's a little off putting. I think if you're if you're
- 44:30not a D and D player, or you haven't experienced a D and D
- 44:34game, because it's just a little it feels a little disjointed. A lot
- 44:37of things happened really quickly and then they're onto the next thing. Yeah,
- 44:42that's how a D D game goes. That's just Yeah. So I thought
- 44:45it was great. I liked the story. I liked seeing the forgotten realms
- 44:49brought onto the big screen. Forgotten Realms is the world that DD is said
- 44:52in Sean, have you seen Super Mario Brothers yet? Because you were not
- 44:55seen. Oh I have seen that, Yeah, I know, justin you
- 44:59went to go to see what We were hoping that Sean was going to see
- 45:00it. But the big movie, the big movie, and I'm wondering,
- 45:04who's going to see that this week? Maybe take mom out to a movie
- 45:07when it comes to Mother's Day. Is Guardians of the Galaxy Volume three?
- 45:10Yeah, well, I can tell you right now, Missa is not going
- 45:13to want to go to see Guardians of Galaxy volume three. She has no
- 45:15interest. She has no interest in that stuff. Didn't like that, but
- 45:19I did find it fascinating that Guardians of the Galaxy Volume three knocked Mario off
- 45:28of the top spot in the box office. So Mario was at the top
- 45:31spot in box office. But if you think about it, what does that
- 45:34mean? Chris Pratt just knocked off Chris Pratt off the top of the box
- 45:38office two movies that were at the top that Pratt plays Mario and Chris Pratt
- 45:45plays star Lord and Guardians the Galaxy. So he is I mean, like,
- 45:49oh my god, he's got to be living his best life right now.
- 45:52Wait, so he's been in so many movies. Who is more popular
- 45:55because I've heard people talking about this, Mario or Luigi le Mario is definitely
- 46:00more popular, but Luigi has a cult following. It's weird because people seem
- 46:05to think that Luigi is the one. Right. Have you played Luigi's Mansion?
- 46:09Nah? Is that fun? Amazing? Yeah? The Luigi Mansion games.
- 46:15The Luigi Mansion games are very isocrated. I bought I bought that for
- 46:21Eric for his switch, and he said it was too scary for him.
- 46:23The Luisi's Mansion is not like a Hani Mansion. Yeah, it's kind of
- 46:28a haunted game. Yeah, all right. So so coming back to giving
- 46:31moms stuff from Mother's Day? What would be good recommendations from you guys For
- 46:36anybody listening is thinking I need to get mom something for Mother's Day? What
- 46:39should I get her? Non tech or tech? Go ahead, let's go
- 46:45with tech since we're a tech show. What would be maybe within a price
- 46:50reasonable budget? Okay, okay, yeah, good question. I got Caitlin
- 46:57and a new Kindle for Christmas. That's pretty good. Maybe it ams like
- 47:04gift card for more books? Give cards always nice? Right, Yeah,
- 47:07I can't think of anything else? Maybe do Apple watch Apple? How about
- 47:14a how about a UM you're thinking about getting something from mom? How about
- 47:21a backup drive for the smartphone? Because I think I think some some moms
- 47:25some dads can't figure out how to make backups to their smartphones, and that's
- 47:30why exactly we use. But what about making a physical backup? You know
- 47:37where you plug in I like the expand I expand line where you just plug
- 47:40it into your your smartphone and you go that way. So you can do
- 47:45that. You can just plug it in and just plug it in. There's
- 47:46an app and then you just follow the app and it will tell you go
- 47:51ahead, and it'll back up every single photo that's in there. You can
- 47:53choose then delete them or just have it back up the actual system or just
- 47:59no just pictures, just documents, photos, contacts. It just does that.
- 48:02But that way, you know, you see, you know, I
- 48:06would love to get that from my parents, but they would forget. To
- 48:08plug it in. It takes like three minutes though, depending on your smartphone.
- 48:16You plug it in, it goes through you tell it yeah, go
- 48:21ahead, and I give your permission. It goes through, grabs all the
- 48:22photos, then says do you want to delete them? And if you don't
- 48:25want to delete them, fine, you just unplug the device and you're good
- 48:29to go. Yeah, I mean, I don't think that would worked for
- 48:32my parents. Right. But you know, we set up with my parents
- 48:37and Caitlin and I we all share iCloud storage and we all do our phones
- 48:45because we're all Apple, right right. We do all of our iCloud storage
- 48:49backups there and we've had zero issues. And it's actually funny because my dad
- 48:53actually had just had to get his phone replace. My parents are on vacation
- 48:57and my dad jumped into the pool with his phone. Oh no, when
- 49:00did he realize that as he's in the air going in, I don't know.
- 49:05He didn't say. He just said, got a new phone, went
- 49:07into the pool with the phone in my pocket. So it's my dad has
- 49:13destroyed probably five or six phones over the years. Oh jeez. But I
- 49:17just told this story because when we talked to him, he told us the
- 49:22story, and I said, do you remember the time I called you while
- 49:24you were at home and you were out more on the lawn and you picked
- 49:28up and they fell out of your hand and bounced off the deck of the
- 49:30lawn more you ran it over. Oh my gosh. All right, here
- 49:36here's another product I would recommend. This is from a company called Solo New
- 49:40York and moms I think could always use a tablet protector because sometimes when you
- 49:46buy the tablet, depending on which one you get and what price point you
- 49:51pay for it, you don't get a case to protect it. And this
- 49:55is a hard case made from recycled you know, plastic bottles, uh,
- 50:00And so you know you're being in friendly to the environment. And it will
- 50:05work with iPads uh, the Samsung Android tablets, the whole bit. And
- 50:09again it's a nice little hard shell to protect. And their inexpense or about
- 50:15twenty four bucks. So if you're looking looking for something for mom, you
- 50:17can find those just about anywhere and it fits most most of the Android and
- 50:24Apple tablets set are out there. So that's that's a little bit more along
- 50:29the lines than was something my mom would want, right. My mom uses
- 50:30her iPad pro a lot, right, and she draws, she draws with
- 50:36it, she does her work stuff on it um and she loves her iPad
- 50:39pro. She uses the little ey stylists and she's she's an iPad wizard.
- 50:45She would blow me out of the water. In terms of doledgar, your
- 50:46mom has the pro, is she got the ten or the twelve, I
- 50:51don't know. It's ginormous. That's gotta be the twelve. Yeah, it's
- 50:54she does. She does her when she does her judging for gymnastic stuff.
- 51:00She just does all her little doodles on there and then it's fantastic. She
- 51:02loves it. A friend of mine he got his wife a couple of years
- 51:06ago a rumba, and yeah, I would love to have one. But
- 51:10that didn't go over very well, remember, you know, and then I
- 51:15think in the comment that he made, hey look at it this way,
- 51:17you don't have to do the vacuuming anymore. I think that did not go
- 51:22over that well. There are too many toys in our house for a rumba
- 51:25right now. Yeah, so I think maybe less about appliances, maybe more
- 51:31about, you know, stuff for the smartphone, maybe for the tablets,
- 51:37something along that left that line for technology and if you want to look into
- 51:40that, you know, a little backup drive I expand from sand disc.
- 51:45Is that one that works? That works really well? So that might be
- 51:47something to think about. Or go Justin's rod and get her a tesla.
- 51:52Mom would love a tesla. All right, Well, take a quick break,
- 51:54come back a website of the week. We wrap up the show with
- 51:58tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor. I'm Sean Dward and I'm justin Let
- 52:01me once again find us on the web at tech talk radio dot com.
- 52:04We'll be right back and now back to tech talk Radio. Hi, Sean,
- 52:08I wanted to know the name of the camper that you've got if our
- 52:13listeners want to look it up, because I know they like to kind of
- 52:15follow the show and go on the web. So we bought a Forest Rivers
- 52:19and Forest River is the manufacturer and the model is no Boundaries nineteen point three.
- 52:24So if you just go to Forest Rivers website you can look up the
- 52:28no boundaries model. The version is nineteen point three. All right, So
- 52:31instead of a website of the week, I've actually got an app of the
- 52:35week that everybody can download to their smartphones and keep up with what's going on.
- 52:39Oh cool, Sure sounds great. So back in April, Kevin Sistram
- 52:45and Mike Krieger, a couple of guys behind Instagram they founded that started their
- 52:50own app. It's a news app called Artifact. Now you can get the
- 52:53app available. It's open to everybody now. But what they've done is taken
- 52:59a lot of us. When we want to get online news, we may
- 53:00go to news dot Google dot com, which is still great, but the
- 53:05Artifact app keeps it all in one place, giving the ability to look up
- 53:08tech news, world news, business news, TV and movie news and just
- 53:14about everything. And it's super easy to use, nice and it kind of
- 53:17differs a little from news dot Google dot com or some of the other news
- 53:22sources that are out there. Microsoft course has theirs is it almost uses a
- 53:28machine learning kind of an AI because of the stories that you look at and
- 53:32you are researching, it will continue to give you feeds based on how you
- 53:38are using the app. So Artifact is really a great way to kind of
- 53:42keep up on what your favorite subjects are and what you're looking at, and
- 53:46it kind of, yeah, it's going to learn a little from you about
- 53:50how you're doing your news search, but it's stories that you're really going to
- 53:52be interested in. So you can get the Artifact app again at your Google
- 53:57Play Store or your app store and download at your smartphone and begin to have
- 54:00that news right there at your fingertips. Well, that wraps up this week's
- 54:04Tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean Dewar, and I'm justin
- 54:07Let me find us on Facebook at facebook dot com, forward slash tech talkers
- 54:13have yourselves, great week.
