- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn French with Fexingo? Luna: Yeah, I am! What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're talking about daily routine — things you do every day. Very useful. Luna: Oh, like waking up, eating breakfast, that kind of stuff? Lucas: Exactly. And speaking of Fexingo, we keep these episodes ad-free because we think learning should be simple. Luna: Right, no interruptions. If you like that, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, it helps keep the show going. So let's start with the first phrase of the day. Luna: Okay, hit me. Lucas: To say 'I wake up', you say 'Je me réveille.' Say it with me: Je me réveille. Luna: Je me réveille. Lucas: Good. 'Je me réveille' means 'I wake up'. Use it when you get out of bed. Let's try a mini scene: Every morning, you wake up. 'Chaque matin, je me réveille.' Luna: Chaque matin, je me réveille. That's nice. Lucas: Now, after waking up, you eat breakfast. In French, 'I eat breakfast' is 'Je prends mon petit-déjeuner.' Luna: Je prends mon petit-déjeuner. That's a long one! Lucas: It is, but you'll get it. 'Je prends' means 'I take', 'mon petit-déjeuner' is 'my breakfast'. So literally 'I take my breakfast'. Luna: Je prends mon petit-déjeuner. Lucas: Perfect. So after breakfast, you might go to work. 'I go to work' is 'Je vais au travail.' Luna: Je vais au travail. Lucas: 'Je vais' means 'I go', 'au travail' means 'to work'. So 'Je vais au travail'. Luna: Je vais au travail. Got it. Lucas: Then after work, you come home. 'I come home' is 'Je rentre à la maison.' Luna: Je rentre à la maison. Lucas: Yes. 'Rentre' means 'return' or 'come back', 'à la maison' means 'home'. So 'Je rentre à la maison'. Luna: Je rentre à la maison. Lucas: Finally, at night you go to bed. 'I go to bed' is 'Je me couche.' Luna: Je me couche. That sounds like 'je me réveille' but opposite. Lucas: Exactly! 'Je me réveille' in the morning, 'je me couche' at night. Let's do a full day: 'Le matin, je me réveille. Je prends mon petit-déjeuner. Je vais au travail. Je rentre à la maison. Je me couche.' Luna: Le matin, je me réveille. Je prends mon petit-déjeuner. Je vais au travail. Je rentre à la maison. Je me couche. Wow, I just described my whole day! Lucas: You did! And it's all useful. Now let's practice a quick exchange. If I ask you 'Qu'est-ce que tu fais le matin?' — what do you do in the morning? Luna: Je me réveille et je prends mon petit-déjeuner. Lucas: Excellent. And if I ask 'Qu'est-ce que tu fais le soir?' — what do you do in the evening? Luna: Je rentre à la maison et je me couche. Lucas: Perfect. So to review: 'Je me réveille' — I wake up. 'Je prends mon petit-déjeuner' — I eat breakfast. 'Je vais au travail' — I go to work. 'Je rentre à la maison' — I come home. 'Je me couche' — I go to bed. Luna: That's a solid routine. I'm going to practice these tomorrow morning. Lucas: Great idea. And remember, if you want to support us and keep these episodes ad-free, you can visit buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it really helps. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you next time! Lucas: À bientôt!
