- 0:01Speaker 1: The play is Inconfused.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Podcast is rated M for marijuana no minors, but your
- 0:05Speaker 2: audience is only.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Here's a question for you. If you had to come
- 0:10Speaker 3: up with a band name right now, what would you pick?
- 0:13Speaker 3: I know it's very random right now, come up with
- 0:15Speaker 3: a band name. We're starting a band. What are we
- 0:17Speaker 3: calling it? Because I have a great idea. I have
- 0:20Speaker 3: a great name for a band. See, I don't have
- 0:22Speaker 3: a great one. If you're just trying to, I don't know.
- 0:24Speaker 3: I don't know what about you, Jeff, I'm on the
- 0:26Speaker 3: spot here.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I am too. I haven't really thought about that.
- 0:29Speaker 2: And if you're you're in the band too. What do
- 0:30Speaker 2: you want to play? Like a gem on the bass
- 0:32Speaker 2: or a guitar? If you to, what do you want
- 0:33Speaker 2: to play?
- 0:34Speaker 1: Do you play bongos or something easy? You have percussion,
- 0:37Speaker 1: you have sure percussive feel and yoursso I think so.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I'm good at tapping along with songs and stuff. Everybody
- 0:43Speaker 1: thinks they can play bongos. Bongo's a hard freaking instrument
- 0:46Speaker 1: to play. I was watching a band like two weeks ago.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I was down in Lansdale. In this band, it was
- 0:49Speaker 1: called New Pony Funk out of Philadelphia. They were playing
- 0:53Speaker 1: and I was just watching this guy in the bongos
- 0:55Speaker 1: and it was so impressive. You're absolutely right. It is
- 0:57Speaker 1: very different. It's like complex, yes, and like he was
- 1:00Speaker 1: just like going to town and I was like, man,
- 1:03Speaker 1: that looks like fun up there.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Another instrument. Very hard to play tambourine if you do
- 1:07Speaker 3: it the right way. Incredibly difficult because really you're you're
- 1:11Speaker 3: I mean, I hold a tambourine in my right hand
- 1:13Speaker 3: and then you slap it on your left wrist.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Continue, yeah, mister tambourine. Man, No, but yep, great song
- 1:19Speaker 1: by what band? You can't do that right now? The
- 1:21Speaker 1: birds anyway, hold it.
- 1:22Speaker 3: In your right hand, but you're really going back and
- 1:25Speaker 3: forth with your right hand left and right and left
- 1:27Speaker 3: and right, and then you slap it in your left hand.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It's difficult. It's hard if you do it the right
- 1:32Speaker 1: word A tambourine, do you, uh, yes, somewhere, Oh, let's
- 1:36Speaker 1: find that dude, okay, please hold oh see you know
- 1:44Speaker 1: what tambourine? I was thinking of the triangle thing. I
- 1:46Speaker 1: had it completely wrong. Now I'm on board, all right.
- 1:48Speaker 1: What so the only reason why you wanted me to
- 1:50Speaker 1: get the tambourine in what it is? No either way
- 1:54Speaker 1: to see you play? I need I need a visual Mikey.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You know why they call the triangle the triangle is
- 2:00Speaker 1: it's a try and I get it. No, but this thing.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Watch see he has it in his right hand. He's
- 2:08Speaker 1: smacking it with his left hand, but the right hand
- 2:10Speaker 1: he's going back and forth on its own. Yeah, go ahead,
- 2:18Speaker 1: you try it. I don't know if i'd be left
- 2:20Speaker 1: here righty, hold on, hold on, I'm ambidextra. You could
- 2:24Speaker 1: be a switch hitter. Can you difficult? I'm telling you, Jeff,
- 2:32Speaker 1: try it. I think I did better than that. Yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you win. Oh, he gets it. He's getting it. He's
- 2:42Speaker 1: getting it. Yeah, once you figure it out. Yeah, you
- 2:45Speaker 1: did it so naturally, though, do that again one more time.
- 2:51Speaker 1: But I'm found it. But I'm also going slow. I mean,
- 2:54Speaker 1: people can go anyway. We're starting a band. What's the
- 2:59Speaker 1: band gonna mean?
- 2:59Speaker 4: Name?
- 3:00Speaker 3: Hear me out, great title for a band name. Go ahead,
- 3:03Speaker 3: hang nail, hang nail. So you got a thing with
- 3:07Speaker 3: nails these days? No, Honestly, the reason why I thought
- 3:09Speaker 3: of the hangnail is because I have one right now
- 3:11Speaker 3: and last night I'm laying in bed, I'm thinking God
- 3:15Speaker 3: hurts right now. But then I thought, Hang Now, it's
- 3:18Speaker 3: a great name for a band. It is pretty cool.
- 3:20Speaker 3: How much you don't bet there's already the genre?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah? I don't. I don't know.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Whatever we want to do, but I bet you there's
- 3:25Speaker 3: already a band name Hang Now. That's like too cool
- 3:28Speaker 3: to not already be taken.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Please hold uh, yeah, it's already taken. He searched by
- 3:37Speaker 1: nickelback too. I didn't know that now, Hangnail artist sounds
- 3:43Speaker 1: like a band that would be named Hang Now. So
- 3:49Speaker 1: that's taken, yeah, is it? But is that separate? We're
- 3:52Speaker 1: good separate hang Nail. Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And if that's taken, then we're gonna put anomlaud or
- 3:56Speaker 3: something in between a noomloud. That's not right now, umlat no,
- 4:00Speaker 3: but that's the that's the German thing above an Oh,
- 4:02Speaker 3: that's not right.
- 4:03Speaker 1: What do you m? Dash m dash umlautdato patado. Anyway,
- 4:08Speaker 1: they're both taking to come up with a symbol.
- 4:11Speaker 3: We got to come up with a band name. Then
- 4:12Speaker 3: the frozen blenders all right, so it's just random shit. Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 3: my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas when
- 4:19Speaker 3: I saw them earlier today and I said, you know,
- 4:21Speaker 3: what makes some lasagna for me?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Like some lasagna? My mom's lazanna is pretty good. He
- 4:26Speaker 1: went that for Christmas for like food that day? O really? Yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 1: like when we go over from to my families, we
- 4:31Speaker 1: always have food, you know, and it's usually like sandwiches
- 4:34Speaker 1: they might order or whatever. Right, so this is the
- 4:36Speaker 1: band name? Then lasagna frozen lasagna, frozen lasagna like Stofers.
- 4:41Speaker 1: All right, what about just STOs lasagna? Can you tell
- 4:45Speaker 1: me your mom makes homemade lasagna? Like not homemade homemade.
- 4:49Speaker 1: She doesn't make no, no, no, no, no no no. She
- 4:51Speaker 1: she'll like make the actual lasagna. It's not like she
- 4:53Speaker 1: makes the pasta at home. Wow. I mean that's but no,
- 4:56Speaker 1: she makes it like that like real for real people
- 4:58Speaker 1: actually make put it pasta it. There are people that
- 5:00Speaker 1: do that. Yeah, that's correct. Who has time to do that?
- 5:03Speaker 1: Real adults? I'm not one of them. Meybe neither, No,
- 5:06Speaker 1: me neither. How do we get on this topic because
- 5:08Speaker 1: I asked about band names? Yeah, frozen lagna lost track
- 5:12Speaker 1: because of that special stuff we're going to Let's.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Hope that nobody has frozen Lasagna taken as a band
- 5:16Speaker 3: name already. We went from Hangnail to frozen Lazagna. Wow,
- 5:20Speaker 3: it's amazing how that works. And Jeff, how do you
- 5:22Speaker 3: pronounce your last name? You have one of those last
- 5:23Speaker 3: names that it's like it could be a couple of
- 5:25Speaker 3: different things.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Longie Reedy? Ready, Jeff Reedy, the executive director of Lehighvalley Normal, Right, yes,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and tell everybody what that is?
- 5:33Speaker 2: So normal National Organization of the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
- 5:37Speaker 2: The organization has been around for since nineteen seventy. Our
- 5:41Speaker 2: chapter has been around for fifteen years, and I am
- 5:45Speaker 2: the leader of that chapter. And we fight to change
- 5:48Speaker 2: the marijuana laws locally, statewide, and nationally. And we're in
- 5:52Speaker 2: a big campaign right now to change the laws at
- 5:54Speaker 2: the state level. And I go out to Harrisburg on
- 5:58Speaker 2: a regular basis, and I basically am a unpaid lobbyist,
- 6:03Speaker 2: and I talked to legislators and get them to to
- 6:06Speaker 2: change the laws to hopefully correct the wrongs that have
- 6:11Speaker 2: been affecting us for more for many years.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow, what a damn good guest if I don't
- 6:17Speaker 1: say so much. So really, finally we get we get
- 6:20Speaker 1: the picture perfect guest on this podcast, I wouldn't say
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm picture perfect, well I would. He's a guy for
- 6:26Speaker 1: us though. Yeah, he's on our team. You know that's
- 6:28Speaker 1: pretty cool. Well, thanks for being here, Jeff. We're going
- 6:32Speaker 1: to dive into that a little bit more. We're gonna
- 6:34Speaker 1: kick off this episode, which is episode twenty seven. It's
- 6:36Speaker 1: the Blazed and Confused Podcast. My friend Joel right there,
- 6:38Speaker 1: he's gonna press that button.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Hopefully. I'm having button problems. Sounds like a personal problem,
- 6:43Speaker 3: it is, what say?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Look, yeah, welcome to the Blazed and Confused Podcast with
- 6:50Speaker 4: Becker and Joel, cent trivia podcast where the questions are high,
- 6:54Speaker 4: and so are they. It's time to suck her curiosity
- 6:59Speaker 4: and line up some go. Blazed and Confused podcast starts now.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I'm telling you personal problem. I press the buttons, the
- 7:10Speaker 3: buttons don't press. Yeah, don't you hate when that happens? Yeah? Sorry, Bud.
- 7:16Speaker 1: What am I gonna do with my broken buttons? You'll
- 7:18Speaker 1: get there? Well? Yeah? Maybe, good morning, good afternoon, good evening.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I keep saying good night at the end of each episode,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and you don't seem to like that, So I'm gonna
- 7:26Speaker 1: start covering all the bases. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening.
- 7:30Speaker 1: My name is Becker. This is the Blaze that Confused Podcasts.
- 7:32Speaker 1: That's my friend Joel over there, Hey, Joel. Hey. Today's
- 7:35Speaker 1: guest Jeff Reedy and a very awesome guess because we
- 7:39Speaker 1: get to dive into the y. Well, I'm gonna ask
- 7:41Speaker 1: you right straight out, why is marijuana not recreational in Pennsylvania?
- 7:47Speaker 2: It is twenty twenty five. What's the hold up lawmakers?
- 7:50Speaker 2: I don't want to, you know, point sides, but basically
- 7:55Speaker 2: lawmakers are stubborn, They're ignorant, honestly don't understand the subject.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And it's both yeah, yeah, it's absolutely both sides. I mean,
- 8:02Speaker 2: I've had friends on both sides of the isle in
- 8:05Speaker 2: Harrisburg for the last fifteen years trying to change these laws.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And it doesn't matter what side you're on. There's still
- 8:11Speaker 2: a little bit of refer madness in the back of
- 8:13Speaker 2: their heads when they're thinking about this, and they got
- 8:16Speaker 2: anybody that opposes them a little bit that just expands
- 8:19Speaker 2: that whole refer madness. And unfortunately in Harrisburg, they're always
- 8:23Speaker 2: talking about the almighty dollar, and I really don't appreciate
- 8:28Speaker 2: that conversation really because I want I don't want marijuana
- 8:31Speaker 2: to be a line item on the state budget. When
- 8:36Speaker 2: that happens, they overtax the marijuana, but that's sold in
- 8:41Speaker 2: the state, and then people are going to go back
- 8:43Speaker 2: on the streets anyway. So because it's cheaper, then it
- 8:46Speaker 2: would be a failed program. Yeah, so it's a big
- 8:49Speaker 2: money grab. It's what it comes down to. It comes
- 8:51Speaker 2: down to control and money, which which which has always
- 8:53Speaker 2: been what the control of marijuana has been, even since
- 8:56Speaker 2: the prohibition in the thirties.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah. I just don't understand it how we were surrounded
- 9:02Speaker 1: by states that are legal and we're just sitting here,
- 9:06Speaker 1: like the fuck is going on checking our wie.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I mean, especially being in this nook and cranny of
- 9:10Speaker 3: Pennsylvania where literally Jersey is.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Right there, right there, right there, Like I mean, like, oh,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I got to get some weed. Drive across the bridge
- 9:18Speaker 1: right over there, right across the bridge, which which still
- 9:21Speaker 1: technically is right is illegal obviously, Yes.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Trafficking over a state boarder is illegal. Yes, But you know,
- 9:29Speaker 2: we have three quarters of a million patients in Pennsylvania
- 9:31Speaker 2: that are medical marijuana patients, you know that go to
- 9:35Speaker 2: the dispensaries which are in your neighborhoods and they buy
- 9:39Speaker 2: what they needed to buy to medicate themselves and everything's fine.
- 9:43Speaker 2: We've had no problems with that, and the program has
- 9:45Speaker 2: been going on. The law was passed in twenty sixteen
- 9:49Speaker 2: and the law was enacted in twenty eighteen, so we've
- 9:52Speaker 2: been seven years into the program and there have been zero,
- 9:56Speaker 2: zero problems, zero fatalities, you know, zero medical emergencies. We
- 10:01Speaker 2: proved to them that there are no dangers to cannabis
- 10:06Speaker 2: and legalizing cannabis, and it just comes down to the
- 10:09Speaker 2: fact that they don't have any horses in a race.
- 10:12Speaker 2: The legislator has admitted they consume cannabis, so they obviously
- 10:16Speaker 2: don't even understand cannabis, but yet they want to control cannabis.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You know, they all go to their parties on weekends.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Many of them drink, some don't drink, but many of
- 10:26Speaker 2: them do drink, and that's socially acceptable.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Yes, what a double standard, Isn't it a crazy double standard?
- 10:33Speaker 3: Like there was a certain someone that I may or
- 10:36Speaker 3: may not be related to, that I was there officiant
- 10:39Speaker 3: at their wedding, and there's certain someone took it upon
- 10:41Speaker 3: themselves to say, I know you like to smoke weed,
- 10:44Speaker 3: but can you please not do it before you officiate
- 10:47Speaker 3: my wedding?
- 10:47Speaker 1: I said, who the hell do you think I am?
- 10:50Speaker 1: Black man? Yes, I enjoy some marijuana. Do you really
- 10:53Speaker 1: think that I get violently baked and then go officiate
- 10:56Speaker 1: your wedding?
- 10:56Speaker 3: Like, come on here, people, come on. But then double standard,
- 10:59Speaker 3: she goes, please don't bring any marijuana, don't smoke if
- 11:02Speaker 3: you could, just not do it for the day, but
- 11:04Speaker 3: we have an open mar I got so drunk at
- 11:07Speaker 3: this wedding. I got so drunk at this wedding, to
- 11:09Speaker 3: the point where you know, it's always one of those
- 11:11Speaker 3: drunks where you say, I'm never going to drink.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Alcohol ever, ever, ever, ever ever again. And wait, you're
- 11:17Speaker 1: a marriage efficient as well. I mean, I have my license,
- 11:20Speaker 1: so I've done it a few times. It's really not
- 11:23Speaker 1: my I really don't like it. Do you enjoy doing it? No?
- 11:26Speaker 2: I got my license the first time, said, of my
- 11:29Speaker 2: friends who are gay, they wanted to get married, and
- 11:33Speaker 2: it was shortly after the laws were changing, so they
- 11:35Speaker 2: asked me if I would become an officiant. So they
- 11:38Speaker 2: paid for my license for the Universal Churches Universal Church
- 11:43Speaker 2: of Life or whatever it is, and so I got
- 11:46Speaker 2: my license and did them and married them. And then
- 11:49Speaker 2: another friend of mine, actually my boss at Normal, wanted
- 11:53Speaker 2: to get married and I officiated his wedding in Washington,
- 11:57Speaker 2: d C. Which is kind of cool being a part
- 11:59Speaker 2: of their big ceremony and stuff. And then another friend
- 12:03Speaker 2: who's also an activist in the marijuana community, asked me
- 12:08Speaker 2: to be as eficy And but that's it.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I've only done a three.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I've done it a handful of times. My thing
- 12:12Speaker 3: is like, right now, you're listening to my voice. You're
- 12:15Speaker 3: not looking at me. When I'm on the radio, people
- 12:18Speaker 3: listen to my voice, you don't look at me. Even
- 12:20Speaker 3: when I go DJ a wedding, you look at me.
- 12:22Speaker 3: But I have I'm hiding behind my table, you know
- 12:25Speaker 3: what I mean. It's not me just standing there. Even
- 12:27Speaker 3: when I perform on stage with the band while I
- 12:29Speaker 3: have a guitar, I never stand on a stage and
- 12:31Speaker 3: just sing. I always have a shield in front of me.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Something about just standing there creeps me out. I need
- 12:37Speaker 3: something in front of me, Like, I don't know what
- 12:39Speaker 3: to do with my body. I feel awkward. Is it
- 12:42Speaker 3: stage fright or just gawking eyes people looking at me?
- 12:46Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 12:46Speaker 3: It's in Yeah, interesting for somebody that does public speaking.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I'm not a great public speaker. I'm really not.
- 12:52Speaker 1: We're completely off topic.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the whole point of this podcast though, which
- 12:55Speaker 3: speaking of So, Jeff, you really did your homework.
- 12:58Speaker 1: You be like, this is the thing with our guests.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Some of our guests listen to, you know, previous episodes
- 13:05Speaker 3: of the podcast, so they know what they're getting themselves into,
- 13:08Speaker 3: and then other people have no idea whatsoever. Yeah, but
- 13:10Speaker 3: you have really done your homework, you know what your.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Two episodes only listen to two.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Let's do a wrapid round with Jeff and then we'll
- 13:16Speaker 3: hit some random thoughts and then we'll go back to
- 13:18Speaker 3: trivia between two of us.
- 13:19Speaker 1: It sounds good.
- 13:20Speaker 3: All right, So you know the rapid rapid round. You're
- 13:22Speaker 3: answering the questions right, yes, sir?
- 13:24Speaker 1: All right? Are you ready for the rapid round? As
- 13:26Speaker 1: ready as I'll ever be. The game begins in three?
- 13:34Speaker 1: All right, Jeff? What state is the peach state? Georgia? Georgia? Yes? What?
- 13:39Speaker 1: Herbivore has a long neck? A draft got very good?
- 13:45Speaker 1: If it's a leapy ear. How many days are in
- 13:47Speaker 1: February twenty nine. In art, what term describes a painting
- 13:51Speaker 1: or a drawing of a person's face portrait? Got it?
- 13:55Speaker 1: What muscle brings your ankle to your butt? You? I
- 14:01Speaker 1: don't know? Frogs are in Which animal grew amphibian? What's
- 14:06Speaker 1: the currency of Japan? Yeh? Got it? Which swimming stroke
- 14:11Speaker 1: is named after an insect? Crawl? What kind of beans
- 14:19Speaker 1: is chocolate made from cocoa? It? What is the study
- 14:22Speaker 1: of plants called herbology? Yeah? Well yes? Uh? What muscle
- 14:31Speaker 1: brings the ankle to the butt? You?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Pull it? Pulled a hamstring?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Got it? Wow? Damn you're smart. Yeah? Yeah. That might
- 14:40Speaker 1: be one of the best records thus far on the
- 14:42Speaker 1: Blazer podcast.
- 14:43Speaker 2: As my wife says, I got a brain full of
- 14:45Speaker 2: useless knowledge.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Ah, I'm impressed. So there was only one that you missed.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The swimming stroke that's named after an insect? Is a butterfly? Insect? Yes,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I guess I don't know about that. What do you
- 14:58Speaker 1: think it is a bird? It's not a bug. It
- 15:00Speaker 1: starts as a caterpillar? Yeah? Which is a pillar? Is
- 15:02Speaker 1: not an insect? Hmmm? That's that's ask andy. Oh, so
- 15:08Speaker 1: I think that I have Andy like hooked up to
- 15:10Speaker 1: the screen now, so yeah that I have to watch
- 15:12Speaker 1: get the experience of Andy today.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, so hang on here, I think that if
- 15:16Speaker 3: I press this button.
- 15:18Speaker 1: None of these buttons are working. What the fuck?
- 15:20Speaker 2: So did you get did you get to create the
- 15:23Speaker 2: voice of Andy or Oh.
- 15:24Speaker 1: No, it's all just on the computer. All right, So
- 15:27Speaker 1: let's see what was the question again? Is a caterpillar insects?
- 15:32Speaker 1: A caterpillar and insect? Yeah?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Hey, Andy, is a caterpillar an insect? And furthermore, is
- 15:40Speaker 3: a butterfly and insect? Like is a butterfly a bug?
- 15:42Speaker 3: I don't consider fly a butterfly bug?
- 15:45Speaker 1: What do you think? Yeah, so scientifically speaking, both caterpillars
- 15:49Speaker 1: and butterflies are absolutely in Huh you cut it off
- 15:53Speaker 1: on purpose because you're wrong? No, I didn't keep going,
- 15:56Speaker 1: No worries. I'm definitely not trying to cut off or
- 15:58Speaker 1: notadge anything. So hell Andy speak and bashful? All right? Absolutely?
- 16:05Speaker 1: What's not? Yeah? It works great? Yeah, I'm glad you
- 16:10Speaker 1: got that hooked up. Hey, Andy's talking like Mitch McConnell. Well,
- 16:17Speaker 1: hopefully I won't freeze up mid sentence on you. But
- 16:20Speaker 1: to fully finish that, the yes, caterpillars and butterflies are
- 16:23Speaker 1: both insects, and well some folks might not think of
- 16:26Speaker 1: butterflies as bugs in the everyday since. All right, all right,
- 16:29Speaker 1: all right, enough, all right, enough of this, thank you
- 16:32Speaker 1: for that.
- 16:33Speaker 3: All right, so I guess you were right right. Wow,
- 16:35Speaker 3: so a butterfly is an insect. That doesn't sound right
- 16:37Speaker 3: to me, but whatever it is.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Wow? All right, Well you learn something new every day.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You get the rest? Right? Oh? What is the study
- 16:42Speaker 1: of plants called botany? Botany?
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, herbology. Damn good, Jeff, I'm impressed. I think we're herbologists. Right, Yeah,
- 16:49Speaker 2: you're really good at that. What is your educational background? Like,
- 16:54Speaker 2: do you have a degree? Do you go to college?
- 16:55Speaker 1: What's sure? I have an art degree?
- 16:57Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah, when could sound universe? Went to that
- 17:00Speaker 2: act Ampton for a year and a half and then
- 17:04Speaker 2: I did a year it quits down. But I have
- 17:06Speaker 2: no I have no bachelor degree or anything. Okay, well, hey,
- 17:11Speaker 2: associate degree.
- 17:11Speaker 1: That's it.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I'm very impressed with your ability to answer questions rapidly.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I do have a question for you, though, mister Becker,
- 17:17Speaker 3: why didn't every answer start with a certain letter?
- 17:19Speaker 1: Did we give up on that. I'll come back to that.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I didn't think you liked that. I mean, it was
- 17:25Speaker 1: the questions just got a little lame, all right, all right,
- 17:28Speaker 1: trying to be better about it.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I would see the one episode I listened to your
- 17:31Speaker 2: your letters were wrong for one of the for one
- 17:34Speaker 2: of the answers.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I believe.
- 17:37Speaker 2: It sounds about right. Yeah, yeah, one of them didn't
- 17:39Speaker 2: start with the same letter.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, Base, you know they started the same letter.
- 17:45Speaker 1: That's both it's violent, and Base calls it out. Don't worry,
- 17:48Speaker 1: all right. It was trying to fit the base underneath you.
- 17:51Speaker 1: That chin right, Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. It should
- 17:54Speaker 1: have been a standing instrument. That's what I should have said. Yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 1: oh man, all right, So some random thoughts here before
- 18:00Speaker 1: we oh yeah, we start with our trivia portion blazed
- 18:04Speaker 1: and confused random thoughts. The Target thing is very funny.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So Target just started up this new policy for employees
- 18:13Speaker 1: writ in time for the holidays, right in time for
- 18:15Speaker 1: Black Friday. It's called the ten four policy. So like
- 18:19Speaker 1: they're just basically kissing your ass pretty much.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Their Target is now requiring employees to smile, make eye contact,
- 18:26Speaker 3: and use welcoming body language within ten feet of a customer.
- 18:32Speaker 3: And then if you're within four feet of a customer,
- 18:34Speaker 3: if you're an employee, you have to offer a quote
- 18:36Speaker 3: unquote verbal greeting and assistance.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Yeah, customer service is dead these days. I'm glad they're
- 18:42Speaker 1: kind of enforcing this, but it's not gonna it's not
- 18:44Speaker 1: gonna work. It's not gonna work.
- 18:45Speaker 2: We should go there. I used to work retail. Yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 2: it's a it's a really terrible environment, especially this time
- 18:51Speaker 2: of year. Yeah, and I dread holidays just because I
- 18:55Speaker 2: use work retail for many years. I was assistant manager
- 18:58Speaker 2: at Ors Department store when they were in exists in Bethlehem,
- 19:01Speaker 2: And uh, yeah, it's it's not a fun life. And
- 19:05Speaker 2: and and it's the customer. Customer greetings and things like
- 19:09Speaker 2: that are very important and recognizing customers, And like you said,
- 19:12Speaker 2: you don't see that anymore in retail anymore. You go
- 19:14Speaker 2: to loads, you go to you go to Low's Home deepot,
- 19:17Speaker 2: you can't even find what you're looking for. And where
- 19:19Speaker 2: the hell is where's whatever I'm looking for? Not to
- 19:23Speaker 2: name drop a store, but I've done that before. I've
- 19:26Speaker 2: gone to that store.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Not Lows Rose, Yeah Rose sorry Home, Yeah, whatever, it's
- 19:31Speaker 1: called I remember going there one time and I was like, hey,
- 19:34Speaker 1: I'm looking for the three M strips, you know, and
- 19:37Speaker 1: they were like they just looked at me like and
- 19:39Speaker 1: didn't say anything. I was like, all right, I guess
- 19:42Speaker 1: I'll go home. They didn't want to help me at all.
- 19:45Speaker 1: The film that bothers me now, and I see this
- 19:48Speaker 1: a lot is man. Not to sound like an old man,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but the kids that have their damn headphones in with music,
- 19:53Speaker 1: and like, while they were Donald's in the drive through,
- 19:56Speaker 1: come on, you don't even say hi, how are you nothing?
- 19:59Speaker 1: Because you're you busy you listen to your music. I
- 20:01Speaker 1: want to listen to music at all hours of the
- 20:02Speaker 1: day too, But you work in the drive through and
- 20:05Speaker 1: take that shit out. It bothers me.
- 20:06Speaker 2: So I used to react exactly that way all the time,
- 20:09Speaker 2: and until I had the conversation with a friend of
- 20:11Speaker 2: mine who's whose daughter is autistic, and I've come I've
- 20:15Speaker 2: come to recognize that, you know, On a serious note, note,
- 20:20Speaker 2: there are some kids that actually wear the headphones to
- 20:22Speaker 2: try to block out the loud noise of society. So
- 20:26Speaker 2: some some of that, some some kids are doing it
- 20:29Speaker 2: just for attitude, but some kids are doing it to
- 20:32Speaker 2: to actually help themselves, to co op, to cope with things.
- 20:35Speaker 1: And I get that totally. I just I could not
- 20:38Speaker 1: believe I was I went through the McDonald's drive through.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry, not McDonald's. It's lickdonald's, McDonald McDonald's. Yes, I
- 20:45Speaker 1: was there one lick donald I'd rather not anyway, but no,
- 20:52Speaker 1: So you go through the one window where you pay.
- 20:54Speaker 1: The girl there had her AirPods in, didn't say anything,
- 20:57Speaker 1: no greeting, no, how are you, and then go to
- 20:58Speaker 1: the next one where they give you food. Two other
- 21:01Speaker 1: people also had their earphones, and not just like one
- 21:04Speaker 1: in the other out, No both in. Isn't that a hazard?
- 21:08Speaker 3: That's a little extreme, but you know anyway, So now
- 21:11Speaker 3: Target is going to turn into chick fil A basically
- 21:13Speaker 3: pretty much.
- 21:14Speaker 1: See how long that last? You don't want to go
- 21:15Speaker 1: to chick fil A? And after every word out of
- 21:17Speaker 1: your mouth they say, my pleasure, Sure, ma'am, my pleasure.
- 21:21Speaker 1: They go there with it. I'm like, I feel better
- 21:23Speaker 1: about myself now. God, I don't Chick fil A would
- 21:26Speaker 1: taste better if I don't have to hear my pleasure.
- 21:30Speaker 3: They stop making pennies this week as of this week.
- 21:33Speaker 3: We're recording this episode on Sunday, November fourteenth. Now here's
- 21:36Speaker 3: the thing. They're no longer making pennies, but it costs
- 21:40Speaker 3: four cents to make one. Sense, So now it makes sense.
- 21:43Speaker 3: If that makes sense, good job.
- 21:47Speaker 1: What can I say?
- 21:48Speaker 2: So, what are we gonna do with all that money
- 21:49Speaker 2: we're saving that by not making pennies?
- 21:51Speaker 1: Well, here's my question. If the year total is nine
- 21:53Speaker 1: to fifty three, right or okay, nine to ninety three,
- 21:57Speaker 1: and you give them a ten, what do you get back?
- 21:59Speaker 2: They're gonna be rounding up, they say, that's running up,
- 22:02Speaker 2: rounding up or rounding down, and it's going to be
- 22:05Speaker 2: depending on the retailer how they're going to do their rounding.
- 22:08Speaker 2: But again, they're gonna be some somewhere along the line.
- 22:11Speaker 2: You're going to be making excess, you know, because they're
- 22:15Speaker 2: the tax rate isn't going to change, so they're still
- 22:17Speaker 2: gonna be charging six percent on a dollar, so they're
- 22:20Speaker 2: still gonna be collecting six six cents for every dollar
- 22:23Speaker 2: you pay, So so what what are they doing with
- 22:26Speaker 2: that extra four or five cents? And the prices will
- 22:30Speaker 2: still go up next year the same same way they
- 22:32Speaker 2: have every other year.
- 22:33Speaker 3: So my question is, it's not like every penny that's
- 22:36Speaker 3: on planet Earth now is obsolete.
- 22:38Speaker 1: We're not going to run out of pennies. There's enough pennies,
- 22:40Speaker 1: isn't there. I got a couple of thousand home of indivations.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Do you really? A girl I work with she is
- 22:47Speaker 1: looking for pennies, and a massive amount of them for
- 22:51Speaker 1: any reason. She has a book called Pennies in Heaven
- 22:55Speaker 1: or something like Pennies from Heaven, and it's all about
- 22:58Speaker 1: pennies for her. Pennies like she find and means something
- 23:01Speaker 1: to her, you know, hey, you do you right? Yeah?
- 23:03Speaker 1: But she wants to make like like a table or
- 23:06Speaker 1: something and like have it covered with them. And but
- 23:08Speaker 1: she's looking for pennies. She went to the bank the
- 23:09Speaker 1: other day on her lunch break and it would only
- 23:11Speaker 1: give her one box twenty five dollars pennies. That's it.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Because I guess the demand's crazy er whatever's going on.
- 23:17Speaker 2: They now keep pennies in a vault ironically, Yeah, yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 2: they don't even keep the dog. Yeah, they're so in
- 23:23Speaker 2: demand and they have so few that they keep them
- 23:24Speaker 2: in a vault. Oh so maybe we are going to
- 23:26Speaker 2: run out of pennies. I know somebody that tiled their
- 23:29Speaker 2: entire floor with pennies. Yeah, it's pretty cool. That's gonna
- 23:33Speaker 2: be worth something soon.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Great, right, the floor alone, floor is worth fifty dollars.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Right, yeah, yeah, So what are they gonna do with
- 23:42Speaker 2: penny loafers?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Though? That's the question. A few more here. We did
- 23:47Speaker 1: get a little political last week, and not that we're
- 23:49Speaker 1: going to get political again. It was the most political
- 23:52Speaker 1: episode we've done so far. It wasn't that bad. It
- 23:54Speaker 1: still wasn't that bad.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Everybody always says, oh, I feel so much safer with
- 23:59Speaker 3: my gun. I need my gun because my gun makes
- 24:02Speaker 3: me safe. I always say, man, I feel again. Certain
- 24:06Speaker 3: people I just said earlier, I shouldn't be trusted with
- 24:09Speaker 3: a drill alone.
- 24:10Speaker 1: What do you think about a gun with me? Bad idea? Right,
- 24:13Speaker 1: certain people just should not have guns around them, right.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Listen to this. A dog shot his owner. Yes, it's
- 24:20Speaker 1: a true story. This guy was cleaning his gun. He
- 24:23Speaker 1: placed it next to his bed, like perched up on
- 24:25Speaker 1: his nightstand. The dog goes to jump on the bed
- 24:28Speaker 1: and shot the owner. Like in the I was gonna
- 24:33Speaker 1: say in the face, it wasn't that bad, Thank god.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Jeez in the.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Back, but it could have been Yeah, how did he
- 24:40Speaker 2: I mean, dogs don't have thumbs, How did they get
- 24:42Speaker 2: how did they.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I have no idea now picturing a dog with a shotgun.
- 24:49Speaker 1: This is not a funny story, but it is elm
- 24:55Speaker 1: So anyway, watch where you put your guns. The true
- 24:58Speaker 1: gun people are gonna say, well, it's the gun owner's
- 25:02Speaker 1: fault and if he was cleaning his gun, he should
- 25:04Speaker 1: have been safe with it. Dude, I'll never forget.
- 25:08Speaker 3: When I was twenty twenty one, I had I was
- 25:11Speaker 3: moved out of my own and you know, I used
- 25:13Speaker 3: to hang out with my friends on the weekend when
- 25:15Speaker 3: I used to be a social person. We used to
- 25:16Speaker 3: get together on the weekend and just sit around and
- 25:18Speaker 3: smoke and drink and hang out. And my buddy went
- 25:21Speaker 3: on on his twenty first birthday, uh went out and.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Bought a gun, like a glock or whatever. And the
- 25:26Speaker 1: one night they come over to my apartment and he
- 25:29Speaker 1: was so excited to sit down and put place his
- 25:31Speaker 1: gun on my table. Wow, I get amadass the wild
- 25:37Speaker 1: wild West. Come on, what excuse me, sir, You're in Nazareth,
- 25:41Speaker 1: Pennsylvania right now. Let's relax. Okay, mister, I need my
- 25:45Speaker 1: gun for protection. And furthermore, too, that just creeps me out.
- 25:48Speaker 1: We're sitting here drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. I don't
- 25:51Speaker 1: know what happens when you people get all fucked up
- 25:53Speaker 1: in your system and now there's a gun here. I
- 25:56Speaker 1: don't want that here. I can just picture your face.
- 25:58Speaker 1: It was somebody putting a gun on your coffee table
- 26:02Speaker 1: in front of you. I know, so casually too, like
- 26:05Speaker 1: it's no big deal. This is where my gun goes,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and you're about to learn absolutely nothing. Go blazed and confused, podcast.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I have that bad habit of putting stuff a little
- 26:18Speaker 3: too loud. I think I might end up death by
- 26:20Speaker 3: the time I'm eighty or sooner.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Maybe, who knows. Probably, So it makes sense. You're DJ.
- 26:25Speaker 1: You probably hang out in clubs.
- 26:26Speaker 2: You probably stand right next to the PA system like
- 26:28Speaker 2: I always did when I was a kid.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So yeah, you're gonna be deaf soon. What question number one?
- 26:36Speaker 1: Who's going first? Me or you? I want to go first? Five?
- 26:40Speaker 1: I have good.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Questions this week, all right. I would let you pick
- 26:44Speaker 3: your category, but I don't want to. Well, I want
- 26:47Speaker 3: to save one for last. So music, world history or
- 26:50Speaker 3: world geography.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Oh god, yeah, h world geogra Now one more time,
- 26:56Speaker 1: what were the categories music, world history or world gi
- 27:00Speaker 1: world geography? World with that? Okay? Uh? What country shares
- 27:06Speaker 1: the longest border with Germany? Oh my god, I have
- 27:11Speaker 1: no idea, you know, I can't even picture where Germany is.
- 27:14Speaker 1: This is good. This is what I called. This is
- 27:16Speaker 1: what I call pain. By the way, I was listening
- 27:19Speaker 1: back to earlier episodes of this Week, and you know,
- 27:21Speaker 1: I think that you were going incredibly difficult with your questions,
- 27:25Speaker 1: and mine were not as difficult. So I can't you Austria, Austria,
- 27:29Speaker 1: son of a bitch? Are you? I? Oh my god,
- 27:36Speaker 1: that is so unfair. I'm like I would have said, France. Yeah,
- 27:40Speaker 1: I can't even picture that part of the world. Is
- 27:42Speaker 1: Germany is. You're a border with France. I guess it does, right.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I have no idea. I've been to these places, and
- 27:47Speaker 1: no idea I've been to these places. Yeah, Austria, I
- 27:51Speaker 1: just think of the sound of music. Doh a dear
- 27:55Speaker 1: a female, dear ray, drop of golden sun, me name
- 28:03Speaker 1: I call myself? Was that? What's next? I really don't know.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I don't fucking know it at.
- 28:09Speaker 2: All a long long lady, So and needles thread thread,
- 28:18Speaker 2: I don't know any more of it.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Question two, all right, mister Becker, uh, let's see here
- 28:24Speaker 1: music or world history, because I'm saving one for last
- 28:30Speaker 1: world history. You're avoiding the music one, aren't you. I'm
- 28:33Speaker 1: saving it because I think Jeff's gonna be of help.
- 28:35Speaker 1: All right. I I asked this question of my trivia
- 28:38Speaker 1: night this past a week, and a lot of people
- 28:39Speaker 1: got this wrong. Okay, I think this is pretty damn
- 28:42Speaker 1: hard if I don't say so myself. So, the Black
- 28:45Speaker 1: Great the Black Death plague killed an estimated one third.
- 28:51Speaker 1: That's freaking nuts to think about. By the way, one
- 28:53Speaker 1: third of Europe's population during what century? That's my question?
- 29:00Speaker 1: Death plague killed an estimated one third of Europe's population
- 29:05Speaker 1: during what century? It was like a long long time ago.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I mean, do you know anybody personally that died of
- 29:12Speaker 1: the Black Death? Because I don't know? Seveneen it's it.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Your final answer, do you have a lifeline here? You
- 29:24Speaker 1: could go to your lifeline? So your second question, what
- 29:26Speaker 1: did I just say before seventeen? Sixteenth? Sixteenth? Final answer? No? Fourteenth?
- 29:31Speaker 1: Fuck you? Fourteenth century? Did I get it? No? What
- 29:34Speaker 1: that's it? Did I get it?
- 29:35Speaker 4: You know what?
- 29:35Speaker 1: I got it? Now? You would I'm going with your
- 29:38Speaker 1: first guest, which was seventeenth, which you're wrong, but I
- 29:41Speaker 1: meant fourteen. No you didn't. What's the right answer. It's fourteen.
- 29:47Speaker 1: That's it. I'm not saying final answer. I so credit.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I would have actually said fifteenth. I'm sorry. Yeah, you
- 29:52Speaker 1: know what we're gonna we'ren't stating a new rule. It's
- 29:54Speaker 1: gonna be like everybody wants everybody wants to be a millionaire?
- 29:58Speaker 1: Who wants to be a million that show me like this?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Now you have to be the one that says, this
- 30:03Speaker 1: is my answer, final answer. You walk it in, not me? Okay,
- 30:06Speaker 1: you don't ask? All right? All right, feel better now?
- 30:10Speaker 1: Not really? Question three? All right? Music?
- 30:17Speaker 3: Roland, Oris Ball and Kurt Smith are the duo that
- 30:21Speaker 3: make up what popular eighties band? Oh man, think about
- 30:26Speaker 3: bands from the eighties that only consist of two. I
- 30:29Speaker 3: don't know why I'm trying to give you hints, but
- 30:31Speaker 3: I'm creating conversations duos.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to go with Jeff, I think because
- 30:40Speaker 1: my what's your talking out? What's your first gut instinct? Duo? Though,
- 30:47Speaker 1: oh man, this band is an honest to god duo.
- 30:50Speaker 1: There's two of them. That's it? Kind of music? Is it?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Can you give me that? Like? What kind of It's
- 30:54Speaker 1: eighties music? Sounds like eighties music. That's the best way
- 30:58Speaker 1: I can describe it. Would it be danced like popular dance?
- 31:01Speaker 1: It's dancy enough, But I'm giving you too many hints.
- 31:05Speaker 1: When it was like the eight million vanilla here round?
- 31:08Speaker 1: When did they come around? No? No, I do Jeff
- 31:10Speaker 1: any insight? Not really? I had Tears for Fears in
- 31:14Speaker 1: my head. But duo, though, Yeah, I have no idea, dude,
- 31:19Speaker 1: I got it wrong. Do you want to guess anything
- 31:23Speaker 1: I did it was wrong? I don't know any other one.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I can't think of anything. You have to give me
- 31:26Speaker 1: something here and say final answer so I could stay
- 31:28Speaker 1: wrong Duo. It means I got another chance here because
- 31:32Speaker 1: I didn't say final answer. I'm still kinda got it wrong.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Milli Vanilli. I have no final answer. I got it wrong.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I guess what it is? What is it should have?
- 31:41Speaker 1: What with your lifeline? Tears for Fear? That was a
- 31:46Speaker 1: duo or nine? Yeah, I guess you're right, Tears for Fear.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I couldn't picture him. I should have went with him.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Shout shout. You know it's funny. I'm driving home from
- 31:58Speaker 1: my DJ gig last night. It's one o'clock in the morning.
- 32:00Speaker 1: I'm driving home and the song on the radio is
- 32:02Speaker 1: so in the Seed It's up. And I had the
- 32:05Speaker 1: random thought, I bet Becker doesn't know that Roland oors
- 32:08Speaker 1: Ball and Kurt Smith make up Tears for Fears. And
- 32:11Speaker 1: you were one hundred percent correct. Yes, all right, let's
- 32:13Speaker 1: see if you can meet the challenge of my fourth
- 32:15Speaker 1: and final question, question four twenty.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Last week, you asshole, you made me spell esophagus, which
- 32:23Speaker 3: I'm standing by.
- 32:24Speaker 1: It should be spelled E S f O g A S.
- 32:27Speaker 1: It's easier. It sounds like esophage E S f O
- 32:30Speaker 1: g A S. Should be esophagus. Okay, anyway, nobody can
- 32:34Speaker 1: spell us. It's like the phonetic version of the word.
- 32:36Speaker 1: But good, Yeah, okay, anyway, spelled diarrhea d I A
- 32:45Speaker 1: h R E A h Oh. There's a double r
- 32:48Speaker 1: in there, r r ah start over World War time?
- 32:53Speaker 1: D I A h r E r r e A
- 32:58Speaker 1: h final answer, damn it? What extra are huh? D
- 33:05Speaker 1: I A R R ah, I put it in. That
- 33:11Speaker 1: sucks trivia.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Man, It's like the universe asking us questions. You know, yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 4: the Blazing Confused podcast.
- 33:22Speaker 1: You want mathematics, science, animals, or acronyms first, I don't
- 33:26Speaker 1: want any of them. Pick one? Uh, animals, I guess Okay,
- 33:30Speaker 1: sounds a littleast scary out of all of them. Question
- 33:33Speaker 1: number one, Which bird is known for its elaborate courtship
- 33:37Speaker 1: dance to attract a mate? Courtship dance? Which bird? Which
- 33:45Speaker 1: bird is known for its elaborate courtship dance to attract
- 33:49Speaker 1: a mate? It's real silly looking? Uh? Peacock. Peacock is
- 33:59Speaker 1: definitely tender. Final answer, I don't know. I'm also thinking
- 34:04Speaker 1: a swan came to mind, But they don't. You just
- 34:06Speaker 1: said they're funny looking. Swan's not funny looking. That's like
- 34:09Speaker 1: elegant looking. I just met. When they do it, it's
- 34:10Speaker 1: funny looking. You know. It's crazy. And what did you
- 34:13Speaker 1: call it again? A mating? What? What are they like?
- 34:16Speaker 1: Hump the air? They're trying to No, no, no, they're
- 34:18Speaker 1: trying to attract a mate.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So they do like a dance, fluff their wings, shaking tail, feathers.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Like their tail feathers and stuff. Shake your tail feather baby. Hey,
- 34:27Speaker 1: speaking of birds, let me ask you this.
- 34:29Speaker 3: If the dove is the bird of love, what's the
- 34:32Speaker 3: bird of true love?
- 34:33Speaker 1: I don't know. The swallow? Of course? Good for you.
- 34:40Speaker 1: I'm a bird ologist. You are anyway? What's a peacock?
- 34:45Speaker 1: Final answer? Peacock? Got it right? Yes? Yeah, thank you?
- 34:50Speaker 4: Question too?
- 34:51Speaker 1: You want mathematics, science, or acronyms? I chuck it all three?
- 34:56Speaker 1: I know, yeah, that's why you picked them. I guess acronyms.
- 35:01Speaker 1: What does IQ stand for?
- 35:04Speaker 4: Like?
- 35:05Speaker 1: Intelligence? Quiz?
- 35:09Speaker 3: That's the first thing that comes to mind. Intelligence. What
- 35:12Speaker 3: do you think your IQ is?
- 35:14Speaker 1: All? Right? We should get somebody on here to test
- 35:16Speaker 1: our IQ's. I think the problem I thought about doing
- 35:19Speaker 1: an IQ test on the radio before, but I think
- 35:21Speaker 1: you have to like it's very pen and paper esque.
- 35:25Speaker 1: It's pretty intense. Yeah is it? Have you done the
- 35:27Speaker 1: IQ test?
- 35:27Speaker 2: I never have, but I think they're pretty intense from
- 35:29Speaker 2: what I've would have heard about them.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I don't think I need it. I'm pretty confident in
- 35:34Speaker 1: being a low average Yeah me too.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Now.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I remember years ago I downloaded one of the apps
- 35:40Speaker 1: because there was like an app on the app store
- 35:41Speaker 1: that said test your IQ, and I thought this is interesting,
- 35:43Speaker 1: and I did like three questions. I couldn't pronounce half
- 35:45Speaker 1: the words on your phone stopped working. Virus. I'm deleting this. No,
- 35:49Speaker 1: it wasn't a viruel. It was a virus to my brain. Actually,
- 35:52Speaker 1: it was a wake up call and I'm a dumb ass.
- 35:53Speaker 1: That's really what it was. Anyway, IQ stand for I
- 35:57Speaker 1: think it's intelligence quiz intelligence intelligence quotient. Well I didn't
- 36:02Speaker 1: say final answer, So all right, what's your final answer?
- 36:06Speaker 1: Intelligence quote quote unquote whatever, whatever. Three mathematics or science.
- 36:23Speaker 1: M I guess science. Science. She blinded me with science.
- 36:30Speaker 1: What does that song? She blinded me with science? I
- 36:33Speaker 1: don't remember Thomas, Oh, I didn't know that. Lucy stop it? Hey, Lucy,
- 36:43Speaker 1: what are the three requirements for fire? Hey? Stop it?
- 36:48Speaker 1: You said one, two, three. She's just kind of helping out.
- 36:50Speaker 1: What are the three requirements for fire? Okay? So like
- 36:54Speaker 1: oxygen's one of them? Right, you tell me. I know
- 36:58Speaker 1: that oxygen's one of them because when you I didn't
- 37:01Speaker 1: do boy Scouts. I did cub Scouts for a year
- 37:04Speaker 1: and it wasn't good. But I do remember that building
- 37:10Speaker 1: like a campfire, you have to like blow on it.
- 37:13Speaker 1: But is that given an oxygen or like carbon dioxide
- 37:17Speaker 1: or some shit like that. You do have a lifeline.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Oh that's right with that in mind. Oh yeah, yeah. Wait,
- 37:23Speaker 1: what was the question? What are the three requirements for fire?
- 37:27Speaker 1: One year of cub scouts and it didn't.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Go Yeah, I'm going to my lifeline. Okay, what's the
- 37:33Speaker 3: three requirements for fire?
- 37:34Speaker 1: Jeft? All right, how do we get a fire going? Yeah?
- 37:37Speaker 1: Three things.
- 37:38Speaker 2: We need a spark, we need oxygen, and we need fuel.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I'll give it to you. It's heat, fuel and oxygen.
- 37:46Speaker 1: So spark, heat, you know. So that Yeah, that's what
- 37:50Speaker 1: it is. Okay, i'd say you make fire. If you
- 37:51Speaker 1: take any one of those away, the fire all will
- 37:53Speaker 1: go out or magically these days a big lighter works. Yes, yes,
- 37:57Speaker 1: so I was right when I said oxygen. I do
- 37:59Speaker 1: remember partially right, Thank you lifeline, Thank you, Jeff appreciate.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Question four, All right, if you drove two hundred and
- 38:09Speaker 1: forty miles from Orlando to Miami, oh god, at an
- 38:12Speaker 1: average speed of eighty miles an hour? Oh, how long
- 38:17Speaker 1: did it take you to get there? I have no
- 38:18Speaker 1: idea you drove two hundred and forty miles at eighty
- 38:22Speaker 1: miles an hour? How long did it take you? Okay,
- 38:25Speaker 1: wait to get there? Wait, wait a second, let me
- 38:27Speaker 1: get a pen here, Not that that's going to help me,
- 38:30Speaker 1: all right, it's two hundred, two hundred and eighty miles
- 38:33Speaker 1: an hour. No, if you drove two hundred wait, two
- 38:42Speaker 1: hundred and forty miles and you were doing eighty miles
- 38:45Speaker 1: an hour the whole time, Yeah, at an average of
- 38:48Speaker 1: eighty And what's what? Yeah, eighty, And what's the question?
- 38:52Speaker 1: How long would it take you to get there? To
- 38:54Speaker 1: where you're going? So, if you're going to Orlando to Miami,
- 38:56Speaker 1: it's two hundred and forty miles and you're going eighty
- 38:58Speaker 1: miles an hour, how long is it going to take
- 39:01Speaker 1: you to You've got to divide this, right, two hundred
- 39:03Speaker 1: and forty divided by eighty. I'm using a calculator because
- 39:06Speaker 1: I'm allowed to do that. Shit, can't Yeah you can?
- 39:09Speaker 1: All right, that's bullshit. You know what.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Here's the thing I feel bad for the parents nowadays.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Like a friend of mine posted on Facebook a photo
- 39:15Speaker 3: of her child, who I think is in like the
- 39:18Speaker 3: first grade.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Her math homework ridiculous right, I won't be able to
- 39:22Speaker 1: do this first grade math. And I'm thinking to myself, Wow,
- 39:25Speaker 1: when I was in the first grade, my teachers all
- 39:27Speaker 1: said the same thing. Well, you're not always going to
- 39:29Speaker 1: have a calculator in your big boocket. How about this?
- 39:34Speaker 1: Guess what? How about this? Hold on, Hold on a second,
- 39:36Speaker 1: don't do that yet, listen, stop write it down? To
- 39:41Speaker 1: try to do it by writing it out? Two I
- 39:45Speaker 1: don't even know how. Isn't it like this divided by eighty?
- 39:50Speaker 1: So I do remember this is long division. I do
- 39:54Speaker 1: remember the steps divide, multiply, a subtract, compair, bring down,
- 39:58Speaker 1: so divide How many times does zero go into eight?
- 40:03Speaker 1: How many times does zero go into eight? Yeah? I
- 40:06Speaker 1: good luck on that one. Yeah, I don't remember that
- 40:10Speaker 1: one in the SATs. Wow. No, all right, I'm fucking
- 40:17Speaker 1: I'm not doing that.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Two forty divided by eighty is three Yeah, three hours,
- 40:25Speaker 3: three hours, three hours you were driving.
- 40:27Speaker 1: If you're driving two hundred forty miles, you're going eighty
- 40:29Speaker 1: miles an hour. It takes three hours get three from
- 40:31Speaker 1: this doing long division. Man, I need a refresher on
- 40:35Speaker 1: the long division longer. Yeah, but that's just it. Everybody
- 40:42Speaker 1: needs a refresher on the long division. When's the last
- 40:44Speaker 1: time you, Jeff, no offense here, but when's the last
- 40:46Speaker 1: time you did long division?
- 40:48Speaker 2: I do it often. Yeah, I'm sorry you really? Yeah, yeah,
- 40:52Speaker 2: I'm always doing long division two.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Oh yeah, most days it smells like shit that you're
- 40:59Speaker 1: both full of. It's time for me. So these are
- 41:07Speaker 1: from my childhood. I don't know if you've ever had
- 41:08Speaker 1: these before. I feel like this is a candy that
- 41:11Speaker 1: was bottle caps before your time. Yeah. I never had these.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Bottle cap the front, different flavors there. Each color means soda, pop, candy,
- 41:22Speaker 1: root beer, cherry, grape cola, orange. So what they're little
- 41:25Speaker 1: things that taste like soda. Oh you know I'm on
- 41:28Speaker 1: a big soda kick now, right, So yeah, all right.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Bottle caps interesting. Yeah, very smarty esque, very popular when
- 41:36Speaker 1: I was a kid.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Kind of like Smarties though. It's like a good mix
- 41:39Speaker 3: between Smarties and sweet tarts.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, bottle caps on the munchy minute and uh yeah,
- 41:44Speaker 1: Joel approved. Definitely Joel approved.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Hey, we got to talk about Hemp Harvest Fest, which
- 41:49Speaker 3: is coming up in December. It's the first weekend in December,
- 41:53Speaker 3: December sixth and seventh.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Where is this for our local listeners, Jeff?
- 41:56Speaker 2: That is out in Lebanon Valley and it's at the
- 42:01Speaker 2: Lebanon Valley Convention Center. A couple hundred vendors, you know,
- 42:05Speaker 2: they'll be vending everything cannabis related. They call it the
- 42:09Speaker 2: Holid Days.
- 42:10Speaker 1: D A Z. E. Ties writing with you.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Guys, Yeah very much so, yes, yeah, definitely, and he
- 42:17Speaker 2: and I are going to come out for that.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:18Speaker 2: That's awesome out there. Yes, you're broadcasting from there. I
- 42:21Speaker 2: will be I will be yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Are you going to be there? I'll be there
- 42:24Speaker 1: the Valley normal booth will be there. So you check
- 42:26Speaker 1: this out. Yeah, so it's first weekend in December, December
- 42:30Speaker 1: sixth and seventh. Where where is this again, Lebanon Valley
- 42:33Speaker 1: Convention Center. Yes, yeah, speaking of Lebanon, you ever have
- 42:36Speaker 1: Lebanon boloney?
- 42:37Speaker 2: I just bought some yesterday for the first time in
- 42:39Speaker 2: like two or three years, underrated lunch mate.
- 42:43Speaker 1: As an adult. I've never bought it from my seat.
- 42:45Speaker 2: It's funny if you from if you're not from if
- 42:46Speaker 2: you're not from this area, you wouldn't even know what
- 42:48Speaker 2: Lebanon boloney is, you know, But it's it's a delicacy,
- 42:51Speaker 2: and it's really funny. When I lived in Arizona, my
- 42:54Speaker 2: uncle who grew up in Northampton, he grew up with
- 42:57Speaker 2: Lebanon blooney as well, so he used to have my
- 42:59Speaker 2: great parents send them pounds of lebon and bolognie. If
- 43:02Speaker 2: you and local grocery store, just a big big log
- 43:05Speaker 2: of lebon and bolooney.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Lebanon and boloonia is great.
- 43:07Speaker 3: So how would you describe Lebanon blooney for people that
- 43:10Speaker 3: don't know what it is? It's like salami with shitn't
- 43:12Speaker 3: it right?
- 43:12Speaker 1: Not shit?
- 43:13Speaker 2: And it's usually thicker, right, But blone is usually a
- 43:16Speaker 2: bigger sleighs is usually about three and a half inches round.
- 43:19Speaker 2: It's a little bit sweeter than salami, I think, and
- 43:22Speaker 2: maybe maybe a little bit not oilier, but it's a
- 43:26Speaker 2: little bit moister than salami, as I think too. You know,
- 43:29Speaker 2: it's uh, it's just it's a very unique flavor and
- 43:33Speaker 2: it's it's a delicacy that the local farmers have been
- 43:36Speaker 2: doing for hundreds of years.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Getting back to what you do with lea valley normal
- 43:41Speaker 1: all about the laws marijuana laws locally. You know here
- 43:44Speaker 1: in Pennsylvania are there people that are behind bars right
- 43:46Speaker 1: now because of marijuana fencers in the state of Pennsylvania.
- 43:49Speaker 2: There there are there absolutely are, not not as many
- 43:52Speaker 2: as some people might say, but there there are some
- 43:55Speaker 2: people that are that are getting caught in the glitch
- 43:58Speaker 2: of these laws that pro ambition of cannabis and things
- 44:01Speaker 2: like that.
- 44:02Speaker 1: In anticipation for this episode, by the way, I looked
- 44:04Speaker 1: up the arrests the last couple of years. They're going down.
- 44:07Speaker 1: They are going down in Pennsylvania.
- 44:08Speaker 2: And I account some of that to the fact that
- 44:11Speaker 2: we make local efforts to change the laws, and locally
- 44:15Speaker 2: we can do things like we can decriminalize locally. We
- 44:19Speaker 2: can we can go to a city council in any
- 44:22Speaker 2: city locally, and I've done that in Allentown, Bethlehem, and
- 44:26Speaker 2: most recently in Easton, And so we can talk to
- 44:29Speaker 2: city council and they can bring it up for a vote,
- 44:32Speaker 2: and they can decriminalize it so that it makes it
- 44:34Speaker 2: more of like a traffic ticket. If you get caught
- 44:36Speaker 2: with a small amount, you still can't consume in public
- 44:39Speaker 2: and things like that. And that's just a common courtesy
- 44:42Speaker 2: for people in public because a lot of people have
- 44:44Speaker 2: their kids out and things like that. So I understand that,
- 44:48Speaker 2: but decriminalizing locally is a start, you know, and then
- 44:51Speaker 2: we just can continue to fight and fight and fight
- 44:53Speaker 2: and try to try to do that on the state
- 44:55Speaker 2: level as well. But the reason that the arrest gone
- 45:00Speaker 2: down is years ago we were having twenty five thousand
- 45:04Speaker 2: arrests annually for cannabis for just possessions, simple possession. Just
- 45:09Speaker 2: that's a joint, you know, it doesn't have to be
- 45:12Speaker 2: a lot.
- 45:13Speaker 1: That was ten years ago. Wow.
- 45:16Speaker 2: So nine years ago Philadelphia passed decriminalization. They were the
- 45:23Speaker 2: first city in Pennsylvania to do that. Then Pittsburgh followed,
- 45:27Speaker 2: Harrisburg followed, and other cities followed. Those small decriminalization efforts
- 45:32Speaker 2: have spread across the state where we're We've got many counties, municipalities,
- 45:38Speaker 2: and small cities that have done these decriminalization So we've
- 45:43Speaker 2: dropped the rest locally any local jurisdictions, but the state
- 45:48Speaker 2: police are still arresting because they're still going by the
- 45:50Speaker 2: state law.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Gotcha. So that's what's happening.
- 45:53Speaker 2: When people are driving on highways, they're mostly getting busted
- 45:56Speaker 2: by state cops.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, makes sense.
- 45:58Speaker 2: You've got to be causing trouble and how a bag
- 46:00Speaker 2: of weed in your pocket in order to get in
- 46:02Speaker 2: trouble for weed these days, or do it being doing
- 46:05Speaker 2: something really stupid on the highway with a bag of
- 46:07Speaker 2: weed on the console, or smell like or your or
- 46:10Speaker 2: your car just smells reeks of weed.
- 46:12Speaker 1: You know.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Otherwise these local cops don't want to deal with it.
- 46:16Speaker 2: But I will say local cops would rather deal with
- 46:19Speaker 2: somebody on weed than somebody who's who's been smoked, who's
- 46:22Speaker 2: been drinking. Yeah, and you got to ask any cop,
- 46:25Speaker 2: nine times out of ten, I'd rather deal with somebody
- 46:27Speaker 2: with that's been smoking weed because they're just they'll just
- 46:30Speaker 2: mellow out, where somebody that's been drinking gets rather combative.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Yeah, well, thanks for fighting the good fight. I think
- 46:37Speaker 1: I love this stuff. It really enhances my mood and
- 46:41Speaker 1: because the world's pretty shitty right now, change my mood
- 46:44Speaker 1: for many years, and it's helped me with ailments and
- 46:47Speaker 1: pain and stuff like that and my mood and whatnot.
- 46:50Speaker 1: So I believe in it and I think it helps people,
- 46:52Speaker 1: and I think it's just it's about time. Yeah, I
- 46:55Speaker 1: did on that. I mean, like I said, I've been
- 46:57Speaker 1: fighting this fight. I want to hear what Joel wants
- 46:58Speaker 1: to say no, no, no, no, no, it's bad. What
- 47:03Speaker 1: were we going to say? Yeah, you're just such a
- 47:05Speaker 1: fucking stoner. It's so funny. What's wrong with that? Yeah?
- 47:08Speaker 1: I love this stuff. Dope with me with my ailments
- 47:12Speaker 1: and whatnot.
- 47:14Speaker 2: It has Yeah, I mean, even when you don't think it,
- 47:17Speaker 2: even when you don't think it's about medication, It's about medication, man.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, it's like, why do you do it? Really?
- 47:24Speaker 2: You?
- 47:24Speaker 1: Why do you enjoy it? It makes you feel good?
- 47:27Speaker 1: I mean, I think the reason why I gravitate towards marijuana,
- 47:31Speaker 1: especially marijuana versus alcohol, it's that marijuana is really the
- 47:34Speaker 1: only thing that allows my brain to like shut the
- 47:37Speaker 1: fuck up and calm down and just relax, you know,
- 47:42Speaker 1: all the time. It's a good way to put it,
- 47:45Speaker 1: you know me very well? Right, Yeah, he's a lot. Yeah,
- 47:50Speaker 1: but he's my friend. That's Joel. I'm Becker. This is
- 47:52Speaker 1: episode twenty seven. Oh, by the way, we didn't do it.
- 47:55Speaker 1: We didn't do it earlier. We started a new the
- 47:57Speaker 1: area code. Oh yeah, so episode twenty seven to two seven.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Oh area code I had it earlier is western and
- 48:07Speaker 1: south central Kentucky. Oh, thanks to those people, listening to us.
- 48:10Speaker 1: That's very kind of them, are a Kentucky and listeners.
- 48:13Speaker 1: They should come up for the Hemp Harvest Festival. That's
- 48:15Speaker 1: what it's called Palmer Time. Where is it at Lebanon
