- 0:04MBR talk. Hey, thanks for supporting our
- 0:07channel by watching and listening find.
- 0:09Us on the web at MB Radio dot US and the Crack.
- 0:18Of the bat, they're throwing heat like a missile attack,
- 0:26mocking one hand, globing the other, talking baseball like
- 0:29your heart hitting brother. Light it up from the the
- 0:36sideline. It's a full on sport rocking the
- 0:38game for the military crowd. Slide into home, salute the
- 0:58flame, baseball and boots. It's a whole new game.
- 1:06The people have spoken. Austin Riley, who's, you know,
- 1:09he's not playing anymore, but when he was 1.8, still at 128
- 1:14strikeouts, that was months ago. And we're back for another
- 1:18season. To deliver.
- 1:20From a fantasy perspective for next year, he's going to be a
- 1:24top three shortstop again probably, you know, second
- 1:28round. I think a mid second round is
- 1:31about where he should go. Have your drink ready.
- 1:36Then you hold off, wait, and you hope that Perdomo's there for
- 1:39you in the 5th or 6th, but if he's not then your entire
- 1:43strategy just shit to bed. And prepare to be entertained.
- 1:47Guys like Riley Green, Spencer Torkelson, you know those guys
- 1:52need to also perform. Gary Carpenter in the heat of
- 1:55the moment. And those guys, all three of
- 1:57those guys I just listed are all streaky guys.
- 2:00Welcome to another season of bourbon involved.
- 2:04I'm Doug, like you. Be from Clearwater, FL over
- 2:06there. Finish your drink, go to bed,
- 2:09it's Friday night. Have fun guys.
- 2:11Take care man. It's such a grand entrance man.
- 2:22Bourbon ball show 78. Excited to be here.
- 2:26Third season fantasy baseball, fun stuff going on, man.
- 2:30I'm Doug again. That's my my lifetime buddy over
- 2:34there. Mikey V from Clearwater, FL
- 2:35here. We're bringing bourbon to ball.
- 2:37The question of the day is why bourbon?
- 2:39Why ball? Well, it's a very simple answer.
- 2:41We like our bourbon. So I topped off today and we
- 2:46like our baseball, fantasy baseball, and the stats that we
- 2:49give you are from our ESPN points league.
- 2:51It's a weekly league. We set our line up on Monday.
- 2:54Someone gets hurt during the week, then it's tough luck.
- 2:57And that's the same outcome for anybody if somebody gets hurt
- 3:00during the week. So the points that we give you
- 3:04are based off of that league. But again, if you're a top ten,
- 3:08you know, producer and points leads, you're a top ten and Cats
- 3:12League and roto and all that kind of stuff, so that all that
- 3:15stuff can really translate into whatever format you use.
- 3:19So very exciting stuff. Of course, we're coming to you
- 3:22from Patriot Radio. We're coming to you from
- 3:24military broadcasting radio and BR.
- 3:26We have a YouTube page, we have a Facebook page.
- 3:29Go ahead and like us, follow us, all that good stuff.
- 3:32But there was some military affiliation associated with
- 3:35that. I myself was a paratrooper in
- 3:37the Army for over six years. I have jumps in Ireland,
- 3:40Germany, the Netherlands, and I am a combat veteran.
- 3:43I had over a year in Afghanistan in all of 2012.
- 3:48Yeah, my grand grandfather was part of Robo One as a medic, and
- 3:52my father was in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
- 3:55He was drafted, so lot of connections there as well, Doug.
- 4:00Wow, crazy stuff, man. Crazy stuff.
- 4:03All right, man, we have a ton of stuff to talk about today.
- 4:08I know I sent you over the script.
- 4:10What do you what do you think about it?
- 4:11Some good stuff in there. Man, we're talking about the
- 4:14Young Bucks. I love it.
- 4:15Can't, can't wait. That's it.
- 4:17Let's just hop right in. Let's go around the league.
- 4:26All right, all right, let's talk about actually, I mean, this guy
- 4:29is actually come up as a a top five front runner for Cy Young
- 4:33in the National League, if you believe it or not, even
- 4:36considering he didn't have some of the best starts early on, did
- 4:40give up couple runs here and there, but he does throw very
- 4:42hard. And I'm talking about the
- 4:44Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Marinowski.
- 4:47He is the flamethrower. He last Friday after our show,
- 4:52watching that game, he had an historic start, which was
- 4:56unbelievable, really unbelievable.
- 4:59He was going up against a pretty hot Yankees team at the time,
- 5:04right? Not only did he strike out 11
- 5:06batters, he threw 10 pitches of at least 103 miles an hour or
- 5:11faster, earning him five of the fastest pitches by a starter in
- 5:17MLB history. 5 pitches by a starter.
- 5:19We all know Adrolius Chapman, he owns the overall fastest pitch,
- 5:24105.8 miles an hour, which is ridiculous.
- 5:29That was back in 2010, I believe that was probably with the
- 5:31Cincinnati Reds, if that. I mean, he's a, he's a journey
- 5:35man. So he's been everywhere.
- 5:36But he did get a start with the Reds, and I'm assuming that's
- 5:39probably back then. But not to take away from Jacob
- 5:44Barowski, but I'm going to butcher that for the rest of the
- 5:47segment. But take a look at the
- 5:50highlights. I have his strikeouts right
- 5:52here. And man, you talk about nasty,
- 5:55you talk about fast, you talk about control.
- 5:58Like how often does a guy who throws that hard have control?
- 6:01And to be able to do all that and won equals a pretty special
- 6:06season so far. So take a look at the highlights
- 6:09right here. One of the most electric
- 6:11fastballs in the big leagues, Kowski's first bullet 102
- 6:15Grisham in the games against some high level talent for 100
- 6:20miles an hour. Then Rice is back hand injury
- 6:25night, Max freed and a swing at a missing to Aaron Judge in
- 6:31there for a strike. Is he A1 Judge to Aaron Judge
- 6:36Key and the two strike pitch lined in the right field and
- 6:40right at field. Had a great start in the Miz. 3
- 6:43up, 3 down with a couple of KS. So man, I mean that was that was
- 6:49a ridiculous first inning right there.
- 6:51I mean, I think 6 of the pitches were were over 102.
- 6:55So it is AI mean man, the stat line itself, you know, one and O
- 7:006 innings pitched, 11 strikeouts, two walks, 0 and
- 7:0428.88 struck out every single starting player at least once,
- 7:10which is a it's a feat all on its own.
- 7:12I mean, if this was a guy last year that some people actually
- 7:15really did compare him to Paul Skeens, right?
- 7:18I think. But after this performance, he
- 7:20might have to say he might look just a little better when he's
- 7:24going, when he's going, he's going.
- 7:25How's that? I won't say I don't like to
- 7:28compare players. But listen, right now he's a top
- 7:31ten starting pitcher. He just went 7 innings, struck
- 7:33out 10, gave up nowhere and against the Padres Wednesday,
- 7:37not that the Padres are any good, but still the year, a 2.12
- 7:42ERA, 80 strikeouts. I mean, I think he, and this is
- 7:45my hesitation with him is that there is that dreaded innings
- 7:50cap that we talk about every year with rookies and I know for
- 7:52sure he'll get his at some point this year.
- 7:55The second one is he throws so hard.
- 7:58You just hope that he doesn't go out and he hurts himself.
- 8:00You know, like a like a Jacob the Grom of the world, right?
- 8:03I mean, how many times has he had Tommy John?
- 8:05Twice. You know, same thing Verlander,
- 8:08like the guys that throw hard sometimes are the guys that get
- 8:11hurt and that's my only hesitation.
- 8:13But I love him. Sit and forget starting pitcher
- 8:17in a redraft, though, knowing that there's an innings limit,
- 8:20right? You own a mic.
- 8:22I mean, what's your thought? You know, you're going to you're
- 8:25going to try to deal them in a in in that type of league or I
- 8:29mean, obviously ours is a keeper.
- 8:31You must definitely be thinking about maybe keeping them.
- 8:34But is it? And if there is any hesitation,
- 8:36what would it be? No, I, I think he nailed it.
- 8:40I think it's, you know, he's 67200 pounds, like he's a pretty
- 8:43big guy, you know, tall guy, but £200 was 6-7.
- 8:47I wish there was just a little bit more meat on him.
- 8:49I think that would help him out a little bit.
- 8:50But I'll tell you what, man, guys, as a stud, there's just no
- 8:54other way to put it. He's a hoss.
- 8:56He's he's, I think the real deal.
- 8:59I think it was a little taboo last year that he kind of made
- 9:02the All Star game after only appearing in what, 3 or 4
- 9:04appearances from Milwaukee? But now you kind of get the
- 9:08reason why they showcase them because of just how electric he
- 9:11can be. And obviously he's been putting
- 9:13it together this year. He's been looking great, Clearly
- 9:15top 15, top ten pitcher. At times you can even argue top
- 9:19five because of the strikeouts he has, you know, top five in
- 9:22the league. So, you know, I I value him at a
- 9:25pretty, pretty penny right now, especially if you're in a
- 9:28dynasty league, especially if you're in a keeper league.
- 9:30I think more dynasty league. Obviously, you know, you, you,
- 9:33you hit the jackpot. That's a guy that obviously
- 9:35you're not going to be trading or moving anytime soon.
- 9:38But like keeper leagues, you know that, you know, 1-2 year
- 9:40keepers like what we do, Doug, where you can only keep them for
- 9:44a minimum time. I think it's a great value.
- 9:47You know, this guy went probably 8-9, ten 11th round, depending
- 9:53on the leagues. He he was falling back a little
- 9:56bit in the pitching categories early on.
- 9:58So you could have got a great price on him.
- 10:00I you know, I did it was like what, eighth round, ninth round,
- 10:04Doug. So, you know, I have to put that
- 10:06into consideration to get a guy that could potentially be the
- 10:09top five guy going into the next, you know, couple years
- 10:13potentially. Like you said, it's injury, you
- 10:15know, precautions up there. He's so young.
- 10:19We don't know a lot about him yet, right?
- 10:22We don't know what those patterns look like yet with him,
- 10:24but everything is trending up in my opinion with Jacob
- 10:28Rosarowski. I think he's legit.
- 10:31I'm keeping them. When I say I keep them, I mean
- 10:34I'm not moving them in a in a season trade, whether if it's a
- 10:37re draft league or not. And I have to consider keeping
- 10:40him in, you know, our keeper league, Doug, that goes without
- 10:45saying. Would there be a reason outside
- 10:50of injuries where you wouldn't consider keeping him?
- 10:53What would make you say, well, you know what?
- 10:55What would make you think twice, you know?
- 10:59Man, it's really there's not a lot of cons I think with him
- 11:01right now. You know the age, obviously the
- 11:04the unknown of what this is going to turn into being.
- 11:08But if he has gotten compared to a guy like skins, you respect
- 11:11the same projectile, which means and almost a better off landing
- 11:16spot being in Milwaukee. I I think it's a good place to
- 11:20be. It's a winning organization
- 11:21these last few years, best record in the National League
- 11:24last year, playing pretty good ball.
- 11:26This year they're getting healthier.
- 11:28So he's going to have run support.
- 11:29He's going to get wins. He's going to get you extra
- 11:31points. Maybe it's the innings limit
- 11:34this year. You know, you touched on that a
- 11:36little bit. I do think he's probably going
- 11:38to get cut a little bit. I'd say sometimes this summer,
- 11:42you know, July, August or so, get him ready for September, for
- 11:48maybe a playoff push in El Central.
- 11:52They want to make sure he's there.
- 11:53He's going to be their guy. But I think it's maybe just the
- 11:57age restriction. Maybe that's the only thing,
- 11:59just because again, this year he might only finish with like 160
- 12:03innings, 170 tops, which is again, still a very good year,
- 12:08still very successful. But maybe that's the only thing.
- 12:11I don't know. Do you do you have anything in
- 12:13mind? No, I mean, it's just it's I
- 12:20don't want to compare it to like a Garrett crochet type where,
- 12:25you know, he looks really, really good and they don't maybe
- 12:31shut him down when they should. They just let him go and you
- 12:36know, not, not you might not see that come into effect the year
- 12:41that next year, but you will at some point.
- 12:43And we're we've seen it this year with crochet with the arm
- 12:47issue, right. And no one would ever say, well,
- 12:50that's probably from two years ago because no one, you know, no
- 12:53one really kind of looks that far back sometimes when they're
- 12:55looking at this stuff. But that would be my hesitation
- 12:58is how are they going to control them?
- 13:01What are they going to do to kind of minimize the innings
- 13:04that his arm is going to see? I mean he throws a hell of a lot
- 13:07harder than Garrett Crochet. So that's another kind of scary
- 13:13situation where you know how many, like we talked about the
- 13:16Jacob the Groms of the world. You know, Jacob the Grom was
- 13:19throwing 9899 hit a hundred couple times and you know, it's
- 13:24just an injury play career. I don't want to say it's because
- 13:27he throws so hard because some of the injuries I think he had,
- 13:29like, you know, hamstring and and stuff, but I might that
- 13:33would be my hesitation. I would, I mean, I would have to
- 13:36see how they handle him. You know, I, if he pitches more
- 13:39than like 175 innings, I don't know, man.
- 13:43I'd be, you know, a little hesitant, just a little, just
- 13:48because of how he throws and how hard it is, you know?
- 13:52That's a very good point. You know, the the crochet
- 13:55comparison, I get where you come from with that.
- 13:57That makes a lot of sense, right?
- 13:59That's a guy that was getting stretched out in Chicago, really
- 14:02got stretched out in Boston last year.
- 14:04And then I know this year he's running into the, I think the
- 14:07wear and tear, a little bit of getting stretched out doesn't
- 14:10mean, you know, next year, this year when he comes back, he's
- 14:13not going to be the same guy. But there's just kind of some
- 14:16roadblocks sometimes when you do get to that point where you are
- 14:19going to be pitching 180, a 190, maybe even 200 innings more
- 14:22consistently. This is the test.
- 14:25This is the very, very beginning steps of Jacob Zorowski's career
- 14:29of starting to build up these these inning limits.
- 14:31But The thing is with Jacob Zarowski and same thing with
- 14:35Garrett Crochet, the ceiling is so high for both of them that
- 14:38they could beat top three guys, top five guys, You know, you
- 14:42just mentioned like he's a top five Cy Young candidate for the
- 14:45National League right now. Lot, a lot of high ceiling
- 14:49potential for both of them. So I think that's what the
- 14:51appeal is too. I'm willing to take that risk
- 14:53sometimes, depending on your options, on what you have on
- 14:56your team. You can play the safety game,
- 14:58you can play with the distant guys, right?
- 15:00You know, the top guys, the top picks.
- 15:02You're going to get more consistency with that.
- 15:05Jacob Mesorowski, I don't think there's enough track record,
- 15:09like I said, about injury prone, but I mean, the ceilings are so
- 15:13high dunk, I just can't get over it.
- 15:15He's just. So I think with your point
- 15:18though, too, is like, so if we keep the guys, we lose the round
- 15:21we draft. So you got him in the eighth or
- 15:25ninth round. You know, losing an eighth and
- 15:28around 8th or 9th round pick for that isn't, wouldn't be a bad
- 15:33gamble. As opposed to say, I, let me say
- 15:34I draft him in the 2nd. And if he, if he does get hurt,
- 15:37well then man, I just kind of lost my like everybody who
- 15:40drafted to school, you know, they, they draft him in the
- 15:43first round. Now he's not, he might, you
- 15:44know, he might not be there for a couple months.
- 15:47So it's a tough pick to have and to get wrong.
- 15:50But because you got him in the 8th or the 9th, I think, and you
- 15:54lose him around then, if he does get hurt, it's not as big of a
- 15:58sting as it would be if you lost a second round pick or third,
- 16:02you know? Yeah, yeah, because you don't
- 16:05have all your eggs in your one basket there with him.
- 16:07And again, Jacob Mudarowski, in most leagues this year, he was
- 16:11drafted as you're probably #3 number four guy, you know, he
- 16:14was just a little bit further down, but you know, next year
- 16:17he's going to be drafted as people's maybe potentially #1 So
- 16:22that's why I see like, hey, 8th inning, I can get a number one
- 16:25guy so late on. And I can do this for two
- 16:29straight years where I can get who's my 8th pick for a guy that
- 16:32could be, again, a potential top five pitcher like that.
- 16:35That's, that's very appealing. And then that way I can kind of
- 16:37focus on other, you know, priorities on how I want to
- 16:40reshape the draft on, you know, how you want to mold that.
- 16:43Moving forward too, so. You know, there's just a lot of,
- 16:46a lot of opportunity with him. And I, I, I'll tell you what, if
- 16:50you do want to trade him in your leagues, just make sure you get
- 16:53what you, you know, should get for him, not just the, you know,
- 16:58a throw in a 2 for one for Mesirowski.
- 17:01You know, that's I, I think you got to make it a little bit more
- 17:03complicated than that. Yeah, I totally agree.
- 17:07He's he's worth a, you know, a top third round hitter at the
- 17:11very least. So, you know, but again, the
- 17:15thing that the the counter is a lot of people are going to say,
- 17:17well, listen, I don't want to trade for a guy that might not
- 17:20be there for me in the playoffs when they when it counts, you
- 17:22know, and that's, that's the pill you'll have to swallow in a
- 17:25lot of those leaves if you do want to move them.
- 17:27So you might have to lower the expectations just because of the
- 17:31potential cap that they might put on him.
- 17:35Yeah, I'm hoping that cap starts July, August, so that way when
- 17:38playoff season comes in September, hopefully he's
- 17:42playing for a division race and they're going to need him down
- 17:45that stretch, I'm hoping. I mean, if you if they were
- 17:49smart, they'd address it now and go with a six man rotation or
- 17:51something. You know, I mean, they have long
- 17:53relief guys like Henderson down there in Milwaukee that they
- 17:56could just throw in and spot start and score the six man for
- 18:00now. And you know, it'll add up to
- 18:02about 170 innings. You know, of course, if you get
- 18:05into the playoffs, that's a different beast all together.
- 18:07But at least with the six man rotation, you're really limiting
- 18:11the starts and you're eliminating the innings like the
- 18:13Dodgers are doing with their rotation, which honestly,
- 18:16they're lucky they did because we all knew the injuries were
- 18:19going to come and we're going to talk about some of those big
- 18:21injuries to that rotation. Including a brand new one about
- 18:251/2 hour ago. So.
- 18:27Oh, I can't wait to get that one.
- 18:29I know you are. All right, all right, so not not
- 18:33to be done. Last Friday, Boston Red Sox
- 18:35starting pitcher Conley Early struck out eight Tampa Bay Rays
- 18:41over 7 innings, walked one, allowed, no earn, all while
- 18:44getting the win. Now, this was a pretty
- 18:46impressive start for him. Take a look at this and tell me
- 18:52if he doesn't look electric during this start.
- 18:58Yeah, going to be a challenge here for Narvaez.
- 19:02Hopefully this has got a pretty. Good part of the plate, first in
- 19:05and 1st hitter. There will be a strike 22 from
- 19:11the lefty and struck him out fastball 94.
- 19:15To. Make Boston team where
- 19:16championships were expected. They all did.
- 19:21Swung on the miss, Strike three, 2022 wave and a miss.
- 19:26Baseball. They put pressure on you there.
- 19:28That's going to be in there. The breaking ball lands for
- 19:31strike three. Cortez off the bag in the three.
- 19:35Two look like he went. He did.
- 19:37That's going to be strike three and the 2.
- 19:40Two again, and in there for strike three.
- 19:47I mean, I got to tell you, man, the guy look good.
- 19:49He he gave fantasy owners that was a 26.36 point swing right
- 19:54there with the win. And here's a little fun little
- 19:57stat. He actually made history.
- 19:59He made MLB history with that by becoming the first MLB player
- 20:03ever since 1900 to start and allow three or fewer runs and
- 20:10five or fewer hits in 11 of their first 12 career starts.
- 20:16Interesting what they they come up with for, for history in
- 20:19these days. I mean, anything could be
- 20:20history at this point. So listen, he was one of the top
- 20:24prospects for the Red Sox for the last couple years.
- 20:27He was talked about as being like a centerpiece for some big
- 20:31trades in the offseason. For the last two years, Red Sox
- 20:34never pulled the trigger on getting on getting rid of him.
- 20:38And I think now you know why, right?
- 20:40An ERA 316 nasty fastball kind of revived the Red Sox staff in
- 20:46a way lowering that that ERA for overall as a staff, it's under 3
- 20:51in the last couple weeks. Pitching today against a a
- 20:54really good Braves team, only allowing one run still looks
- 20:59pretty good. He's got 4 strikeouts, 1 earned
- 21:01and three hits and three innings and 55 pitches.
- 21:06So still looks pretty good. I mean, not much bad.
- 21:10You could say, you know, 9495 pretty good change up.
- 21:14Like I think this could really and and I think going into the
- 21:19offseason, we said like the Red Sox pitching staff is going to
- 21:22be fine. You know, Rangers wars looks
- 21:23good. Honestly, we didn't I didn't
- 21:25really like the Sonny Gray signing, but it is what it is.
- 21:28And then that was more for death and then you got crochet, but
- 21:31he's hurt. But it's still a pretty good
- 21:34pieced up rotation even at this point.
- 21:38So I I mean, the the really only issue with them was going to be
- 21:42there their offense, and that's something that they still
- 21:45haven't really addressed. But I like kind of early, I
- 21:47think, you know, he's going to be dominant.
- 21:50I'm not to the extent of Jacob Mesorowski, but he's still going
- 21:53to be really good. You know, I don't think I would
- 21:56keep him if I was in any type of league minus like a dynasty or
- 22:00something. But I, I mean, he, you could,
- 22:04he's one of those guys where he could maybe claws way into like
- 22:07the top five rounds next year and then become a keeper.
- 22:12You know, that's a scenario I can see happening.
- 22:15But I do like him. And I did want to talk about him
- 22:17just a little bit before we start digging into the Red Sox
- 22:20in a second. No, I mean, Connor really looks
- 22:23great. This is one of the guys looks
- 22:24like it's about to shake out. Well, it's been a minute since
- 22:28the Sox had not one just but two.
- 22:31I mean, I love Peyton Tolley as well.
- 22:32I think he is a character. How about that?
- 22:36How about that? I think he's a character, but he
- 22:39is electric on the mound as well.
- 22:40So I think both these guys are going to be the future of this
- 22:43rotation moving forward. We you said we're not worried
- 22:47about the rotation. We they had all the pitching in
- 22:49the world, whether they had injuries or not, they were going
- 22:52to be OK there. It's the offense that's going to
- 22:54be the problem. But Connor early you touched on
- 22:58it. I, I think this is kind of like
- 22:59a like AI don't want to compare him to Jacob Zarowski.
- 23:02I really want to compare him because of the draft position,
- 23:05maybe because like you said, Jacob Zarowski was, you know, an
- 23:09eighth, seventh round pick, Connor early this year.
- 23:12He went way later in drafts. He wasn't on anyone's radar
- 23:15really. But maybe next year, like you
- 23:17said, maybe a 5th, 6th, 7th round pick moves up in that, but
- 23:21then takes that step forward as well.
- 23:23Because again, you got to think this year he's building out
- 23:26those innings now. He's starting to really, you
- 23:29know, put himself in a position where he is going to get this
- 23:31opportunity to get stretched out this year and he looks great.
- 23:37He looks great, lefty pitcher. He's got that great kick.
- 23:41Smaller guy too on the mound. Not a big guy, but he throws
- 23:44with a lot of power. I love it, not going to lie.
- 23:48It's it's refreshing to be honest, because I feel like it's
- 23:52been, I don't want to say since Jon Lester, but maybe you can
- 23:56think of someone else. But it's been a minute since the
- 23:58Red Sox have really developed their own guy in their rotation,
- 24:05like their own front run starter Bellow has been kind of a
- 24:09headache this year and just really a pain in the butt all
- 24:12around. And then really, I can't think
- 24:16of anyone else. Can you think of anyone else,
- 24:18Doug? I'm having a hard time thinking
- 24:19of anyone else in this organization that stepped up in
- 24:21the past. I'd say even 10 years.
- 24:25Stretch it out. No, I really can't.
- 24:27And and it's funny you bring up Toli because Toli was, I, I
- 24:31believe, ranked higher than early and a lot of people
- 24:34thought, hey, if you're going to trade one guy, trade early, keep
- 24:37Tolley. But they decide to keep them
- 24:39both, which in hindsight now is a great move.
- 24:43And early is producing much better.
- 24:46He looks like he's ready for for Major League Baseball and
- 24:49hopefully he will be a staple in his rotation for a very long
- 24:52time. You know, you go into next year
- 24:54with Ranger Suarez and Garrett Crochet and an Early and the
- 24:58Tolley and you know it doesn't look that bad anymore.
- 25:02I think they're like their rotation next year, in the next
- 25:05four or five years is set to be honest with you.
- 25:09Yeah, I think you nailed it. I think with crochet, you know,
- 25:13being your frontline starter, you got caught early in there.
- 25:15Now you can you expect Peyton Tolley to to stay up in the
- 25:18majors. You know, they're going to have
- 25:21Ranger Suarez. He signed A5 year deal though.
- 25:23He's going to be around for a minute.
- 25:25So you got four guys right there alone that you expect to see,
- 25:29I'd say in the next 5 years. Like that's the idea is to have
- 25:32these young guys in the rotation.
- 25:33You got the the veterans in there.
- 25:35You throw a little sunny Gray in there, right?
- 25:38Like you got a little formula going on in there.
- 25:40It's the, the rotation's great. It's just the bats.
- 25:43Like I just can't get over that. This offseason, they didn't
- 25:47spend really anything to to improve that offense, which
- 25:51needed improvements. They expect the guys to do more
- 25:54than what they expected, like a Roman Anthony, Jared Duran.
- 26:00They're just not they're not performing.
- 26:01And they expected these guys to be the the leaders of the bats,
- 26:06I guess to say, but they're not. So it's been it's been rough.
- 26:11It's tough to watch Doug. It's a little disappointing.
- 26:14And that is a great little entrance into the Red Sox as a
- 26:17team. All right?
- 26:19So listen, my question is going to be right, Is there still
- 26:22hope? Is playoffs still on the table?
- 26:24You know, we talked about the staff in ERA under 3 of the last
- 26:28couple weeks. Honestly, I think one of the top
- 26:3110 rotations in all baseball because of that just in the last
- 26:34two weeks, not overall, but in the last two weeks.
- 26:37So, you know, playoffs, wild card, you know, they're 10 1/2
- 26:40back in the East, the last place unfortunately, but it's still
- 26:44early. They're just three games out of
- 26:46the wild card. That's honestly a little more
- 26:48attainable than the rest. But like you said though, you
- 26:52know, they set these expectations for these younger
- 26:55guys and tried to do this little cut and paste with the lineup,
- 27:00getting a Durbin and, and, and, and maybe bringing up Marcel
- 27:03Meyer a little earlier. And so it's just, to me, there's
- 27:07just no really veteran presence in that lineup.
- 27:13And people will say, well, Duran Duran is not really a veteran.
- 27:17Like to me he's not, you know, he a veteran is someone who's
- 27:20been in this league for a decent amount of time, you know, 7-8
- 27:24years. To me, that's a veteran, right?
- 27:26Someone who's established, who's who has credentials, who can go
- 27:30into a line up and and slug. He can't slug.
- 27:33Duran is not a slugger. He you know, he had one really
- 27:36good year where he looked like me, He might have been a 5 two
- 27:38player. He was stealing bases, extra
- 27:41base hits, home runs, you know, a 280 average.
- 27:44He looked like a poor man's Kyle Tucker.
- 27:46Be honest with you. He did.
- 27:48But that hasn't equated the last two years.
- 27:52So what are you going to do? I think honestly, if they want a
- 27:57shot, changes need to happen. They need to do something.
- 28:01What can they do? I don't know, But they need a
- 28:04bat and I think they know that. So it's going to be interesting
- 28:08to see what they do. I mean, there have been some,
- 28:11you know, you, you read online these crazy trades that are
- 28:13happening. Hey, you know what?
- 28:15You know, maybe the Red Sox can strike a deal with Arizona and
- 28:17get Corbin Carroll or something silly like, no, let's be honest.
- 28:22Something's not going to happen, right?
- 28:25There are a couple teams that it could, I know, you know, Seattle
- 28:31has just been underperforming and maybe they might want to get
- 28:34out of that Josh Naylor contract, Who knows?
- 28:37I know it's really, really early to just even talk about it.
- 28:40But you know, it's there's there's talk on like Boston news
- 28:45that the Red Sox want to get out of the range of swords contract.
- 28:47It's just, you know, that's just how it is.
- 28:49So I think there's players to be had and I think they need to go
- 28:54out and they need to get at least one.
- 28:57What position? At this point, I wouldn't even
- 28:59care the position. You just go get a better bat.
- 29:02Forget the position, just get the better bat because anybody
- 29:05you you trade for could probably just fill into the roster
- 29:10anyway. If you've this, if there's a
- 29:13good third baseman out there, you go out and you get him and
- 29:15you do something with Durbin, whatever.
- 29:17You know, if there's a good shortstop there, like you go out
- 29:20and you get the best bat available and you just plug them
- 29:22in the lineup and that's, that's all you do.
- 29:25You don't try to manipulate it. You don't try to move people
- 29:28around to make it work. You get the guy, you plug him in
- 29:31and then the odd man out is just the odd man out.
- 29:34That's it. You're absolutely right.
- 29:38You can get any infant, any infielder.
- 29:41You can replace anybody in that infield.
- 29:43I think you can replace pretty much anyone in that outfield,
- 29:47probably, except to bright you and you're a better baseball
- 29:52team already. Are they going to do it?
- 29:55Probably not. It's been a John Henry shit
- 29:58show, just to say the least. But is there opportunity out
- 30:02there? Yeah, I think there's an
- 30:03opportunity. There's a lot of guys available.
- 30:07I think, like you said, Doug, struggling teams might be
- 30:09thinking otherwise, might be thinking a different direction.
- 30:12Maybe something's already happened to their team, like the
- 30:14Giants. I mean, I heard a crazy rumor
- 30:17that Devers could be coming back, but nothing like what a
- 30:19deal that would be. You know, you get rid of the
- 30:21money and then all of a sudden get the the player back without
- 30:24the money. That's crazy.
- 30:26But obviously in there rumors. Here's the other thing when I
- 30:30throw what you dug up because you know, Jimmy was in the chat
- 30:33through the night too. He was talking about the socks a
- 30:35little bit. I mean, how many more assets do
- 30:38the socks really do have? More like a perspective, a
- 30:41prospect perspective. You know, we talked about Connor
- 30:45Early, you know, what the what's the value for him, you know, and
- 30:48a Peyton Tolley. Like if you're going to go out
- 30:50and get a big guy, I feel like some of these names might have
- 30:53to come up and get moved. And at this point, do you even
- 30:57want to move these assets at this point?
- 31:00I don't know. I really don't because of Connor
- 31:02Early and Peyton Tolley. It's go early in their careers
- 31:05and they look so promising, so young.
- 31:08I don't know if I'm ready to give up that yet.
- 31:10I'm not really sure you're not going to give up Roman Anthony.
- 31:13You know, you already made all these other crazy trades to get
- 31:17in order to get in this position.
- 31:20You know, with Sonny Gray getting moves and then you move
- 31:22Kyle Harrison, who you just got in the demonstrates in
- 31:25Milwaukee, who's pitching great. Like what do you I mean, like
- 31:29how many how many more guys do you have of value to go out
- 31:33there and get a really good player without really trading a
- 31:36a blue chip guy? That's that's where I I just
- 31:39feel like the socks are putting themselves in a really difficult
- 31:42position when it comes to like player leverage, especially in
- 31:48the near future unless they spend money.
- 31:51I think it's all about who they can get.
- 31:53You know, if you go out and a lot of people say maybe Jordan
- 31:56Alvarez might be available. If he's available, you might
- 31:58have to think about trading one of those guys.
- 32:01I personally would rather keep Connor early.
- 32:03I like the left. I like how he throws.
- 32:06I like, I like everything about him.
- 32:08I would keep going early and maybe trade it totally.
- 32:10But I mean, they do have some chips.
- 32:12I mean, they have that young infielder who's who's ranked top
- 32:15five prospect in baseball. I forget his name.
- 32:18I want to say he's a second baseman or a shortstop, but he's
- 32:20an infielder and he's pretty good in their system.
- 32:23You know, they, they do have some chips, but it's all going
- 32:27to come down to who's out there. Like who, who are you going to
- 32:30trade him for? And if in, I mean, you know,
- 32:33we've, I've heard you're not in the last week and a half because
- 32:37Houston just looks so rugged and so rough.
- 32:40And they're kind of approaching that rebuild stage because they
- 32:43swung and missed on Amina and that the, that Japanese pitcher
- 32:48that they just signed for, I think it was like 3 or 4 years.
- 32:51So they just want to on that. And now it's like, OK, I think
- 32:56we need to rebuild. And so that's where they're at.
- 32:58And so if that is where they're at, then you can see a Yuan
- 33:02Alvarez come off the books. And if he does, what's it going
- 33:05to take if it takes a Tolley? I I would you hate that.
- 33:11No, I wouldn't hate it. It's just that I know you're
- 33:13going to have to move one of those guys in order to do a deal
- 33:15like that. Like you said, like Corbin
- 33:17Carroll, you know, if you said, hey, Corbin Carroll for Peyton
- 33:20Tolley and maybe another player or two, I think that'd be fair.
- 33:23I think that's a fair trade. I think that's fine.
- 33:26But man, it's just, I don't know, I, I get a little nervous,
- 33:32you know, I don't want them just to sell the farm and then also,
- 33:34you know, be, you know, left with nothing in their hands
- 33:37after so. Well, I'll be honest, some of
- 33:41the trades they really lost out on, you know, Kyle Harrison,
- 33:44like you said, the guy's pitching lights out.
- 33:47Not to say that he'd be pitching that good if he was here, but
- 33:50he's pitching good anyways. You know, you can't hate some of
- 33:54the moves they made. You know, the you can go back to
- 33:58all the way back to the bets trade and say, well, they
- 34:00screwed the pooch on that. But you know, what were they
- 34:04going to get out of them if they signed up for that eight-year
- 34:06contract, like 3 good years? And then what the IL like he
- 34:10he's been the last two years is just ILIL, you know, Xander
- 34:14Baulgard. So I mean, he wanted an 8 year
- 34:16contract. I mean, he really hasn't looked
- 34:18amazing since he's been to San Diego, honestly, and they
- 34:23unloaded this entire endeavours contract and he looks horrible.
- 34:26So the the stars that they traded, you can make the case
- 34:31that honestly, they weren't bad. You know, they didn't really get
- 34:35a ton back. I think, you know, I I did the
- 34:38Conor Wong he you know, with Sal, he looked pretty decent,
- 34:41really good last year, you know, still not getting a plate
- 34:43appearance this year. But I mean, he's still back and
- 34:47you can just, you can at least make an argument.
- 34:50They made some right moves in all this.
- 34:54They do. I, I think you're right on that.
- 34:56It's just like, again, like when we were talking about Kyle
- 34:58Schwarber last year and like, what were the best places for
- 35:00him to really land to become a Hall of Famer, right?
- 35:03We were talking about I was going to be on that projectile.
- 35:07I think maybe Dever's not so much because there's clearly
- 35:10something else there along with just not just a talent in
- 35:13baseball. Like he hated Boston for some
- 35:15reason. He just turned on us, which is
- 35:17whatever. But I think exam the Bogarts, if
- 35:19you had a contract with him and he stayed in Boston, I think he
- 35:22would have played a little bit better than what he's been
- 35:24playing in San Diego. That's just kind of yeah.
- 35:27It's just, it's odd. I don't know.
- 35:29It's going to be wrong. It can be totally wrong, but
- 35:32you're right. You know, if you look at their
- 35:33records and look at their stats and see if they've gone since
- 35:37they've left, Boston hasn't really been that great.
- 35:39No Endeavors has looked atrocious.
- 35:41He's horrible. He's the worst.
- 35:44He's the worst man. I mean, hey, think about it
- 35:47though, if he does end up coming back.
- 35:50For. And and they not only did they,
- 35:52you know, offload the contract, they get them back at a free.
- 35:55I mean man talk that you can't complain like you an.
- 35:58Instant. Upgrade.
- 35:59As much as he's garbage, he's an instant upgrade.
- 36:02He really is. You need a third baseman.
- 36:05He's he would be the. Best player.
- 36:06In the lineup. That goes to show you how bad
- 36:08the lineup is. They need a third.
- 36:11Like, you know, if you go back 365 days, this is about the time
- 36:15where John Henry Flew is playing out this Kansas City to talk to
- 36:18him. Like from a year from now.
- 36:21Who would have thought that you'd be looking for 1/3
- 36:23baseman? You thought you had Bregman.
- 36:25You didn't think you needed Devers.
- 36:27You wanted to move in the first. Then all of a sudden now you,
- 36:31you don't have 1/3 baseman. Durbin's been terrible.
- 36:34Talk about a player that's been really bad, really, really bad.
- 36:38Super frustrating. Super frustrating for soccer
- 36:40fans this year. Yeah, well, like I said, it kind
- 36:45of makes it look like those moves actually did pay off.
- 36:48But hey, time will tell. We'll see what happens.
- 36:51So let's keep the trend going with these younger guys here.
- 36:53And let's let's talk about Cardinals rookie sensation,
- 36:58shortstop, second base JJ with a hold.
- 37:00Guy's a stud, man. He had an interesting game on
- 37:03Friday as well. He hit a Little League home run
- 37:08which is when the the batter scores due to an error so it
- 37:12rounds around the entire base. Pretty funny.
- 37:16Giant Southfield Junghui. He had a similar play last night
- 37:19against the Dodgers where he hit one as well.
- 37:21But take a look at J JS and man it just makes you laugh, I'll
- 37:24tell you. It's a hard crop ball base hit
- 37:29to right, it scores. Mason win.
- 37:32How the fuck Gets by Tatis and rolls all the way to the wall.
- 37:36Church scores. Scott is around, Here comes
- 37:39Weatherholt. He's going to make it all the
- 37:41way home. It's a Little League Grand Slam
- 37:44for JJ Weatherholt and the Cardinals have a four nothing
- 37:49lead. A Little League Grand Slam
- 37:52that's even worse in Tatis. God, the year he's having
- 37:55they're talking about him going on Red Sox.
- 37:57I don't think I'd want him. He's he would be just as bad.
- 38:00So so anyways, look at I think if JJ doesn't make NL rookie of
- 38:04the year I I don't know who would.
- 38:07He's been a gem and an asset in the world of fantasy.
- 38:10He's drafted in the 21st round like you got him in the 21st
- 38:14round. Shortstop, second base
- 38:17eligibility already 121 fantasy points averaging 2.8 a start.
- 38:23Crazy. The real question is can he
- 38:25maintain the production right? Solid team in the thick of
- 38:29things in a very competitive NL Central.
- 38:33As an owner, you do you think? I mean, we all know how baseball
- 38:37is. We know it's a game of
- 38:39adjustments and pitchers will make adjustments.
- 38:41Batters have to make them and then the pitcher.
- 38:43So it's almost like a game of chess, one move after the other.
- 38:47What's your take? What is your take?
- 38:50I mean, the guy's a gamer for sure.
- 38:52I just, I don't know if it's if, if he'll maintain it, That's my
- 38:56thing. Or he might fall into a slump
- 38:58and then kind of bust out. But because you've been chopping
- 39:01them around lately, so I think you think something's going to
- 39:04happen where it might not be sustainable.
- 39:07What do you think? So early in the week, we were
- 39:09talking about Sal Stewart, how he took a little dip, you know,
- 39:13obviously from his hot hog April, and, you know, being a
- 39:16stud. JJ Witherholt.
- 39:19Look, he he's been electric for the Saint Louis Cardinals.
- 39:22They needed some new blood in that team.
- 39:25They needed a lead off guy. They got their second baseman
- 39:28clearly looks like he's going to be their future with Jordan
- 39:30Walker, who's been playing great, obviously.
- 39:33And yeah, there's an adjustment period.
- 39:35Like you said, it's a game of chess.
- 39:37People are going to figure you out.
- 39:38You're going to see what you can do, what you can't do, and
- 39:40they're going to expose that for a bit.
- 39:42Now it's up to the batter to make that adjustment, right?
- 39:46It it's so early in the season too, still.
- 39:49But yeah, I do think there's going to be a little bit of a
- 39:51dip. I'm trying to see the dip
- 39:53already. You know, he was really
- 39:55consistent. He was OBP was I think over like
- 39:588:30 for a bit. I think now it's dipped under
- 40:01800 and now his batting average I believe is like 23232 or so.
- 40:06Maybe bumped up a little bit from a couple hits from the
- 40:09other day. But yeah, he's.
- 40:11He. He's electric, he steals bases
- 40:13so he doesn't strike out often. So he's not going to kill you at
- 40:17times right now. So it's not a bad guy to have.
- 40:21You know what he reminds me of the maybe just a little bit more
- 40:23pop and just maybe a little bit more swag, but it's like a a
- 40:27Jacob Wilson type. You know, he's going to make
- 40:29contact a lot. He's going to hit those those
- 40:32straight, you know, fastball down the middle for homers at
- 40:34times and yields to bases. He might strike out a couple
- 40:38times more than Jacob Wilson does.
- 40:40But really, that's the kind of player I see JJ with a Hulk as,
- 40:45and I do think he is going to be a fantasy relevant guy for years
- 40:49to come for sure. This year is just going to be an
- 40:52introduction. This year is an introduction to
- 40:54the league, the travelling, the adjustment that he's going to
- 40:58have to make on the day-to-day. I don't think he's an elite
- 41:02hitter, right? So I do think when he does go
- 41:04through these slouches, they're going to be rough at times where
- 41:10I got him in the drafted, like you said, I drafted him in the
- 41:1221st. I sniped him.
- 41:13I that's my, that was my guy. You know, both drafts that we
- 41:17did together. I, I can get good value for him,
- 41:21you know, back in return, I got a couple of injuries happening.
- 41:24So it's like, hey, you know what, this is the guy that I
- 41:26could dangle out there. He was kind of like my second,
- 41:29third backup guy, you know, for each of those positions at 2nd
- 41:32and short, you know, now I can go out, maybe get a pitcher
- 41:36that's pretty good, you know, pretty decent, that can get me
- 41:39over the hump, you know, with some of the injuries that I'm
- 41:41starting to get. So it's just kind of like that
- 41:43kind of shopping value that I guess I'm trying to do right
- 41:47now, you know, trying to bolster up that rotation.
- 41:49Doug. I mean, you definitely can.
- 41:53Like I said, I mean, we, we've talked about kind of selling
- 41:58high on a player and, and going out and getting a position you,
- 42:02you might need to fill on your roster or upgrade a position.
- 42:06I mean, that's the, that's, that's the quintessential what
- 42:09you're doing is, is what we do in the show, right?
- 42:12I mean, it's what we talk about. Go out and do it.
- 42:15I think I still think he's going to be solid.
- 42:17I mean, I honestly, I don't think he's going to fall off a
- 42:21Cliff. 2.8 a start is a lot for a rookie.
- 42:29I could see that come down, but even if it's 2.42 point 5A start
- 42:33and he finishes the year with A2 four or two five, that's pretty
- 42:36good. That is pretty good.
- 42:39You know, I think he's like top four or top five in shortstop.
- 42:43So in a position that was so deep, and I think he was drafted
- 42:48as a shortstop for you anyways, you went out and got him as a
- 42:51shortstop. So like you said, he was like
- 42:53your second or third backup at that point.
- 42:56Now you can go out. He's got tons of value and get
- 42:59your guy. So.
- 43:01And and I do have Jacob Wilson and he's on the IL.
- 43:03We'll talk about it in a little while.
- 43:05We might have to talk after the show.
- 43:07Might have to break some bread and discuss after the show.
- 43:11Yeah. We can have a conversation.
- 43:14All right, so let's move on from some of the some of the rookies
- 43:19and that's kind of fun to talk about those guys and see what
- 43:21they're doing and where they're going.
- 43:22And let's talk about Mariners catching DH Cal Riley.
- 43:28So on Tuesday, he ended an over 38 hitless streak, which was
- 43:31actually put him in the top 10 for hitless streaks.
- 43:35The owner of the number one spot, and I know you already saw
- 43:37this, but, and I think we already know we don't even need
- 43:40to look at this was Chris Davis, good old crash from Baltimore,
- 43:44who went over 54 from 2018 to 2019.
- 43:50Oh my God. Fun note, Davis is also getting
- 43:53paid until 2037. Oh my God.
- 43:59So it's it's kind of funny when he actually ended the the over
- 44:0338 streak with Cal and some of his teammates didn't have a good
- 44:06time about it. So take a look at the hit that
- 44:09ended it and then they actually asked for the ball back to keep
- 44:12the ball. It's pretty funny.
- 44:14Take a look at this clip. Oh, everybody take a nice deep
- 44:23breath in a rejoice, Cal Raleigh finds a knock.
- 44:26He is a board. Yes, and he is very happy about
- 44:32it in first base. The.
- 44:33Long hitless drought has. Come to an end.
- 44:36Now look at this. Look at him smile.
- 44:38Getting carrying the mail for your boy.
- 44:40Randy's out there going, man, That's my catcher, right?
- 44:43There. We go silent treatment here in
- 44:45the dugout. Oh no, no those.
- 44:46Guys were too happy for him. Look at Seitzer.
- 44:49I mean, every single person was up.
- 44:51Standing up when that ball dropped into right center field.
- 44:55Oh, neither's got the ball. Awesome, awesome stuff.
- 45:03I, I think that's, that's hilarious to kind of laugh it
- 45:06off. You know, deep down, though, he
- 45:07was pretty kind of pissed off, right?
- 45:10I mean, you're, you're, you're this guy that just hit 60 plus
- 45:12home runs last year and now you go over 38.
- 45:16I mean, it's a streak that lasted almost two weeks.
- 45:18You never hit in two weeks. That's insane to think about,
- 45:23dude. I mean, he has since hit the IL,
- 45:26but his season numbers come on 161, seven homers, 18 ribby, 16
- 45:32runs, 57 strikeouts. He was on pace for over 200.
- 45:38He's got two stolen bases. He gave you 48 points, one point
- 45:40to a start. Listen, I hate to say that we
- 45:45told you so, but we told you so. We said this last year, we said
- 45:51it the year before. If he's not hitting home runs
- 45:53all the time, he's he's going to be a tough contributor to
- 45:57fantasy. He really is.
- 45:59And you're seeing that, you know, seven home runs strikes
- 46:02out a lot. His home runs offsets those
- 46:04strikeouts. And when they're not there to
- 46:05offset it, you're seeing it. You're seeing it and I, you
- 46:10know, I, I kind of feel bad for the people that drafted him
- 46:12early. You know, he was a second
- 46:14rounder late first, maybe in some really deeper leagues.
- 46:17You know, if you're in a 12 man, 18 man league, he's probably
- 46:22going in the first round at the end of it for sure.
- 46:24You know, if not, he's in early 2nd, but and and he could have
- 46:28even been a keeper for some people and it kind of just
- 46:32scratches your head. I mean, it's funny.
- 46:34I was thinking about, I thought about Tim in our league, our
- 46:37money league and how he did that stupid trade that ruined the
- 46:41league. So, you know, he traded Aaron
- 46:43Judge in school for crochet last year because he wanted crochet.
- 46:46And you know, we don't put vetoes on because we think
- 46:49people are adults. They can make their own
- 46:52decisions. But when a trade is that a
- 46:53gorgeous, you have to like step in and be like, come on, man,
- 46:57let's come on, you're trading 2 for one.
- 46:59Just imagine what his team would look like today because he was
- 47:01going to keep Cal Riley. He was going to have Garrett
- 47:03crochet. If he was still in this league,
- 47:05he would be in last place. There's no doubt about that in
- 47:07my mind. But he's not in the league.
- 47:12Cal Riley went in the second round.
- 47:15What do you do with Cal? You know, I mean, when he comes
- 47:18back one point to a start, you could find that off free agency
- 47:23like that like nothing. And it's weird because honestly,
- 47:27catchers will Smith's only giving you 1.9.
- 47:31You know, luckily I picked up Herrera off the IL.
- 47:33He's giving you 2.4. He's a top five catcher right
- 47:36now. You know, plays every day.
- 47:37DH is a lot. So what are we doing with Cal?
- 47:42What are you doing with Cal if you're an owner?
- 47:46I'll do I'll be I'm going to be the first to say it, though.
- 47:49First I was wrong. I I thought Cal Riley, I knew
- 47:52last year was an outlining career year, right, MVP
- 47:55candidate type year, but I thought he at least could hit,
- 47:58you know, 3540 bombs this year. Doesn't mean he still can't
- 48:02obviously with the terrible start that he just had.
- 48:05But I don't think that's really going to happen anymore.
- 48:08I don't think that's a realistic lofty goal.
- 48:11The way he's been playing, the way the Seattle Mariners been
- 48:14playing in general. It's just not that same spark
- 48:16that we saw last year. And then Cal Riley was obviously
- 48:20a huge part of that spark too, but we're just not seeing it
- 48:23anymore. I don't know.
- 48:25I would obviously be shopping him for sure.
- 48:27And I feel like when we talk about catchers, if you don't
- 48:31get, you know, a decent catcher, the free agent market sometimes
- 48:35can help you out a little bit. There's a lot of good guys this
- 48:38year that came off a free agency.
- 48:40If you you probably missed them at this point.
- 48:42But you know, deeper leagues, maybe not so much, but in like,
- 48:46you know, a 10 man league, a presario, you know, was probably
- 48:49available from Baltimore. Liam Hicks obviously breaking
- 48:52out this year, playing catcher in first.
- 48:54Like there were guys out there after the draft that you could
- 48:58have went out and you could start him and, you know, you
- 49:00don't know what you're going to get sometimes, but that's how
- 49:02catcher goes. I mean, with Cal Riley, if you
- 49:05want to trade for him, you can hope and pray that the old Cal
- 49:09Riley of last year of 2025 comes back.
- 49:12But you know the cost of Cal Riley at this point.
- 49:15Doug, man, what are you trading for Cal Riley at this point?
- 49:18I mean, you're not going to be trading a lot, right?
- 49:21You're not going to be really wanting to put up anything for
- 49:24that matter. He's drafting him in the second
- 49:26round and then all of a sudden you're really dreading him for a
- 49:30guy that you might have even just picked up.
- 49:32That's plain good. Like I'm not giving any value
- 49:35away from for Cal Riley at this point.
- 49:38I'm just, I, I, I want to pay pennies on the dollar, Doug.
- 49:40That's what I want to pay for him.
- 49:42I want pennies on the dollar. Yeah, and unfortunately I don't
- 49:46I don't think owners would take pennies on the dial dollar.
- 49:48So they're going to be stuck with him and that's not
- 49:50something you would want. You know, like I said, I owned
- 49:53Will Smith. He kind of went in a little
- 49:55slump. He hit a home run the other day,
- 49:56which was nice. So I went out and I picked up a
- 49:58Herrera and I started Herrera and I kind of struck gold.
- 50:01I'm not going to lie. You know, doesn't strike out a
- 50:04lot. 2.4 star. I mean, that's what you want for
- 50:07a catcher. He DHS.
- 50:08So more, more times than not, he's in the lineup every day
- 50:11because he DHS, he only catches like once or twice a week, which
- 50:14is nice. But if you can go out and you
- 50:16can get a Herrera or a a really good free agent catcher and then
- 50:24that might ease the pain of trading at Cal Riley for pennies
- 50:27on the dollar. But if you can't do that, then
- 50:30you're kind of stuck with them because you're not going to want
- 50:32that, right? It it, I don't know unless you
- 50:35can, unless you have a backup catcher like I don't.
- 50:39I like I honestly I wouldn't mind offering a Will Smith for a
- 50:42Cal Riley straight up. I mean, two underperforming top
- 50:47tier catchers, no drafts, That's not really a bad deal.
- 50:52I don't know that's that's kind of a fair deal.
- 50:54I think Will Smith's the safer pick, but.
- 50:57Right. Not this year.
- 50:58I don't know, it's been weird. I feel like Dalton Rushing has
- 51:01actually been playing better than than Will Smith on that
- 51:04team and they're giving him more at bats and but yeah, I I don't
- 51:10know a Will Smith or a Cal Riley.
- 51:13Don't hate it. Don't hate it.
- 51:15I. Mean it's a fun trade, but like
- 51:16I said, I mean I can't afford to do it because you know I have a
- 51:21Kyle Schwarber just hit a second home run today this.
- 51:25Guy's on fire. But I can see I can do that
- 51:29because I, I, you know, I, I struck gold picking up a free
- 51:33agent catcher. You know, that's why I have the
- 51:36options. Some, you know, if if some
- 51:39owners own Cal and they don't have that option, then it's
- 51:41going to be tough. It's a tough pill to swallow.
- 51:43So listen, at this point, you own them.
- 51:45You're not going to trade them for for what you don't think
- 51:47he's worth. You're going to hold on to them
- 51:50and you're going to have to ride them out.
- 51:51If that means keeping them on the bench and picking up a free
- 51:53agent catcher for a couple weeks.
- 51:55I mean, the whole team, the the team as a whole is just
- 51:57underperforming. We talk about it all the time.
- 51:59Like you. It looked like maybe Josh
- 52:02Kneeler was coming out of a little funk that he had to begin
- 52:05the year and he really hasn't looked good the last week.
- 52:09Kind of, you know, not striking out as much as he was earlier
- 52:12the year, but still doesn't look amazing.
- 52:15And honestly the only good player on the team, believe it
- 52:17or not, to me. Anyways, Brendan Donovan came
- 52:21back and he went like 4 for four the other day and a AAA AA
- 52:24single and another single. I mean, he looked great.
- 52:28That to me is the only player that's producing and it that
- 52:32entire team is just underperforming and it's a tough
- 52:34thing to see. And it really is, you know, you
- 52:36had thought that they were going to go really, really far, but
- 52:40you know, and it and you didn't think that the offense would let
- 52:43him down. You thought more of the
- 52:44pitching. And it's kind of been the
- 52:45opposite. The pitching is really kind of
- 52:47held their own for the most part.
- 52:49And the offense is just struggle.
- 52:52It's crawling. It is crawling.
- 52:55It's too bad too, because they did go out out of their way to
- 52:58to build out a pretty good offense, you know, to get it
- 53:00Brandon Donovan to to go out and re sign a Josh Naylor.
- 53:03Like that's a little unorthodox of the Seattle Mariners in their
- 53:06history. So they did, I think their part
- 53:09in the front office. I I think they should be
- 53:11credited with building a good roster and putting themselves in
- 53:15contention in that AL West, but they just got to perform better.
- 53:19I I think they still can too. That division's kind of up in
- 53:21the air, I feel. But they, you know, Houston's
- 53:25not playing really good baseball really either.
- 53:27So I, I just think that's a division that they can still
- 53:29easily win. They just need to get their
- 53:31their shit together really. That's all it is.
- 53:34Just like the fox. Yeah, I agree.
- 53:36And then last but not least, we're going to talk about real
- 53:39quick. I mean, man, we're almost
- 53:41halfway through. Time's fine.
- 53:44Let's talk about some more history here.
- 53:46So on Tuesday, history was made as Braves first base and Matt
- 53:50Olson cracked the top 10 for most consecutive games played.
- 53:55Honestly, when all is said and done at the end of the year, he
- 53:57could probably crack the top 8, which is an an amazing feat on
- 54:01its own. Honestly, number one is, well,
- 54:04maybe the top 2 is going to be pretty tough.
- 54:07Take him a couple more years to do that.
- 54:09But I mean, man, Olson has quite a year so far for Atlanta,
- 54:14really keeping the team, you know, on his back really, you
- 54:17know, I think with the help of of Baldwin and Albies, you know,
- 54:22and having one of the best rotations, I think in baseball,
- 54:26man, I'll tell you one of the craziest things.
- 54:27Chris Sale gave up nowhere and in six innings and still got a
- 54:30loss. Wildest thing I've ever seen in
- 54:33baseball. How do you give up nowhere and
- 54:35get a loss? I'm.
- 54:36Sorry, that's bad error. That's what it was.
- 54:39Yeah, I know, I know. But on the year, look at Matt
- 54:42Olson, 29414 homers, 37 ribbies, 36 runs, 47 strikeouts.
- 54:47Strikeouts are there. He's got a stolen base, 157
- 54:50points, 3.6 a start. But on the week, just eight
- 54:53points, 1.3 a start, 8 strikeouts.
- 54:56We all know he's a very streaky guy, similar to like an Aaron
- 54:59Judge type. And I think what he's going
- 55:01through right now and and believe it or not, Aaron Judge
- 55:04going into today, same exact eight points, 1.3 a start for
- 55:07the week, both exactly the same crazy.
- 55:10But I think what we're seeing right now might be that stat,
- 55:14that correction for Olson. I think maybe he's starting to
- 55:16fall back down to earth. Amazing to start the year.
- 55:20But that Braves team is just an enigma.
- 55:22It's like when one fails, everybody fails on offense.
- 55:25It's like they'll either post, you know, four or five runs or
- 55:29zero. It's there's the it's tough to
- 55:31get in between at the end of the day.
- 55:34So when they're shut out, they just shut out.
- 55:37But I think you're seeing, you're seeing Matt Olson come
- 55:41back down to earth. I'm not saying I I wouldn't
- 55:44trade him. I mean, you can still hold on to
- 55:45him, but again, you know, he's not hitting home runs.
- 55:47He's striking out. He's got almost 50 this year.
- 55:50So on pace to to do what he always does 180 plus strikeouts.
- 55:55I would just still start them. Nothing, nothing bad about him.
- 55:58Keep him in your lineup. But I don't know, he was a guy
- 56:01I, I never really kind of went for.
- 56:03So if I did own him and he started hitting like this man, I
- 56:07mean, you could go out and you can, you can get a top top, you
- 56:10know, first round, second round pick for, for what he's doing
- 56:13right now, for sure. You probably got him around the
- 56:153rd or the 4th, but you know something to think about for
- 56:20sure with him. I, I definitely think it is.
- 56:23I think he's having a pretty good year.
- 56:25Let's just call for what it is so far.
- 56:27It's been pretty good years for him so far.
- 56:28Bounce back, I call it and and really for the whole Braves team
- 56:32too, we knew they were better on paper than what they played last
- 56:35couple years. I think they're signing it be
- 56:37better, which is great. Obviously Chris Sale being at
- 56:40the helm of that. But Matt Olson, you know,
- 56:44Speaking of Chris Sale watching that outing and I'm sure you
- 56:46watch that game too, Doug. You know, obviously I was
- 56:49watching some of the Matt Olson at bats and I'm looking and I'm
- 56:52like, OK, it looks great up there.
- 56:54You know, it's 22 count. You know, he's ball 3.
- 56:58Looks like a good eyed. I'm like OK, looks like he's
- 56:59going to come back and you know, get this walk dude balling with
- 57:02dirt and he's just swinging at it and it's just the free
- 57:05swinger. I think he's just thinking, oh
- 57:07that all the success. I'm just going to start free
- 57:09swinging. I don't know what's up with
- 57:10that. But yeah, I think this is a sell
- 57:13high guy. This is a great sell high guy.
- 57:15At this point, first base is kind of sneaky deep.
- 57:19Also. So if you didn't hit on him, you
- 57:23might have hit on someone else that you might have on your
- 57:25roster or maybe even picked up, like I said, like if you picked
- 57:28up the Liam Hicks, I mean, he's been great this year.
- 57:31And again, first base eligibility, so he's a little
- 57:33flexible. So if you wanted to go out and
- 57:35trade it, Matt Olson, and let's say you're not a Matt Olson guy,
- 57:38let's say Doug, you're not a Matt Olson guy.
- 57:40And you had Matt Olson, you're like, man, that's great, but I
- 57:45hate him. I don't like him.
- 57:46You know, he's a strong word, but let's say I don't like him.
- 57:50So what do you do? You're going to Dingle him out
- 57:52there. I think you can get a lot of
- 57:53good value for him because if you're a Matt Olson guy, you're
- 57:56you're rubbing your hands thinking, oh, he's back.
- 57:59This is him. You know, this is the the MVP
- 58:01here. This is the MVP Matt Olson that
- 58:03I know it's not, it's not it's it's may people are starting to
- 58:09figure each other out. There's a lot of tape on Matt
- 58:12Olson. There's been a lot of
- 58:13unsuccessful at bats for him. So I think I go back to the tape
- 58:17from last year and say, hey, what's working for pitchers and
- 58:20what's, you know, the zone that we need to be pitching them in
- 58:22and what what are we going to be doing for pitchers and stuff?
- 58:24So I think it's time to come out just like a Sal Stewart, like I
- 58:27said again, you know, kind of figuring it out.
- 58:29But then, you know, pitcher is a chess game.
- 58:31Like you said, that's the perfect analogy, Doug, I just
- 58:34can't get over that analogy. You're so you're so good at
- 58:36that. You're so good.
- 58:41But yeah, I'm a seller. I'm I'm selling Matt Olson and
- 58:44honestly, I'm probably selling anyone on the Braves team at
- 58:46this point. From an offensive perspective,
- 58:49there's really no one. Maybe Drake, Drake Baldwin,
- 58:52maybe I'd hold onto. But other than that though, I'd
- 58:56probably dangle it just about everyone out there, including
- 58:58Albies. We're going to talk about that
- 59:00later on. Don't don't give out my secrets.
- 59:03Don't give out the don't give the cliffhangers, my friend.
- 59:07They're all right. So that was going around in the
- 59:11league. That was actually really fun.
- 59:12I'm surprised it took an hour. Just really good stuff to talk
- 59:14about. Let's dive into the Hurt Locker
- 59:16real quick and then take a break.
- 59:22Everybody. Hurt sometimes.
- 59:31All right, let's. What I'll do is I'll run through
- 59:36like I always do, the regular, the people who have just hit the
- 59:41IL. Then we'll start talking about
- 59:44some updates. There are some more.
- 59:49I did add an extra update to the list that I did see today, which
- 59:52is very encouraging. So I got Dodger starting
- 59:56picture. You had Tyler Glass now he was
- 59:57placed on the 15 day IL with back spasms.
- 1:00:00This puts him back around late May, early June.
- 1:00:03I did see the update that he's going to take longer than the
- 1:00:05minimum. So now it's looking like early
- 1:00:07June. Hey, still a great year.
- 1:00:10You still hold them, you know, 3 and O39 innings, 49 strikeouts,
- 1:00:1413 walks, a 27 ERA. Was giving you 15 point win a
- 1:00:17start, 106 points total. That's a really good pitcher.
- 1:00:21You want to hold on to him, He'll be fine.
- 1:00:23Same thing. Giant starting pitcher Logan
- 1:00:25Webb, he was placed on the 15 DIL with a bruised right knee,
- 1:00:28putting him back in the rotation.
- 1:00:30They they say about the same time like late May, early June 2
- 1:00:34and 448 innings, 42 strikeouts, 15 walks, a 5 ERA, 63 points,
- 1:00:397.9. That's a guy that you probably
- 1:00:41want to hold just so he UPS his value when he comes back and
- 1:00:44then unloads if you want to unload them.
- 1:00:46But right now it's tough to see the value in that.
- 1:00:50Next up, this one hurt. This one I took to heart right
- 1:00:52here, a shortstop, Jacob Wilson, He was placed on the 10 day IL.
- 1:00:55He's got a left shoulder which was partially dislocated on a
- 1:00:59diving catch. No timetable on his return, but
- 1:01:02for now they're saying at least a month. 292 three homers, 19
- 1:01:05Ribby's, eighteen runs, only 20 strikeouts, 2 stolen bases, 90
- 1:01:09points, 2.3 a start really turned it around after a very,
- 1:01:12very slow first couple weeks for him.
- 1:01:15Next was is the one of the surprising pitchers Twins
- 1:01:18starting pitcher Taj Bradley landed on the 15 DIL.
- 1:01:22He's got a right pectoral inflammation.
- 1:01:25They're thinking it's possible he could take longer than the
- 1:01:27minimum. So I guess maybe in early June,
- 1:01:28mid June type return would be in the cards for him.
- 1:01:32Really good year, amazing year so far for him.
- 1:01:34This is the prospect that Tampa Bay envisioned when they when
- 1:01:37they had him and called him up. 4 and 147 innings pitch 52,
- 1:01:41strikeout 17 walks AT28070 already he's giving you 14.9 to
- 1:01:45start. Almost 120 points. 1/19/56
- 1:01:48total. Really good numbers for him.
- 1:01:51This one I did update today, Yankee starting pitcher Max
- 1:01:54Freed, he was on the he was day-to-day, but it and I my
- 1:01:59notes on here look like he was headed to the a lengthy IL stint
- 1:02:02after being removed from the game earlier this week against
- 1:02:04the Orioles did a left elbow soreness.
- 1:02:08He was then placed on the IL earlier today.
- 1:02:10No timetable yet. They want to let the
- 1:02:12inflammation go down before conducting more tests, but for
- 1:02:15now, they're calling it just a bone bruise.
- 1:02:17Kind of pretty good year, you know?
- 1:02:194 and 361 innings, 50 strikeouts, 19 walks at 32 ERA,
- 1:02:2411.3 a start, 112.6 points total.
- 1:02:27And then last but not least, we have Mariners catcher DH.
- 1:02:29We just talked about Cal Riley. He was placed on the 10 day IL
- 1:02:32with a right oblique strain. This is the first time in his
- 1:02:34career he's landed on the IL. Believe it or not, as of now,
- 1:02:37there's no timetable for this. They take they, they need time
- 1:02:40like hamstrings to heal. You can't kind of rush it.
- 1:02:42You can't go put in a lineup and take the minimum.
- 1:02:44So it might take a little longer than the 10 day.
- 1:02:47I'd probably say early June type return would be in the cards for
- 1:02:50that. 161, seven homers, 18 baby, 16157 strikeouts, 2 stolen
- 1:02:55bases, 48 points or 1.2 a start. That's the list I got.
- 1:03:01Oof. I mean, let's start with Cal
- 1:03:03Riley, obviously. Disappointing so far.
- 1:03:06Yeah, I think he's going to be on the IL.
- 1:03:08For a little bit I I. Think he's going to be on there
- 1:03:10for a second. So again, we've talked about the
- 1:03:12trade value for him. It's already being at pennies.
- 1:03:14I don't think there's anything lower than pennies at this
- 1:03:16point. So you're just going to have to
- 1:03:18IL and wait and see on him. Go back to the top of the list.
- 1:03:22I've made Kyle Glass now talking about the Glass man for a
- 1:03:25second. Obviously a terrific year so
- 1:03:27far. You had him, Doug.
- 1:03:28You traded him at an extremely high value.
- 1:03:30We talked about that last week. You got Paul Schemes in the deal
- 1:03:34that you put Kyle Glasslow in and then almost immediately this
- 1:03:37guy hits the shelf. Lower back spasms, tall guy
- 1:03:41always on the shelf. We know this is always coming
- 1:03:44every year. No surprises.
- 1:03:45That's why he went later in drafts.
- 1:03:47That's why he wasn't projected as high as as he could have been
- 1:03:50with the potential that he has. So we'll see you when he comes
- 1:03:54back. And again, there's no rush for
- 1:03:56the Dodgers because they already have that.
- 1:03:58So just expect to just IL him keep him on the bench.
- 1:04:03Jacob Wilson, I mean, like you said, he's been hitting the ball
- 1:04:06really well lately before he hit that.
- 1:04:08I else then and that's what you expected from going into the
- 1:04:12year. So it was a little
- 1:04:14disappointing. We saw the play together kind
- 1:04:16of, you know, diving at shortstop, just looking that
- 1:04:19shoulder. Really, really tough to watch, a
- 1:04:20lot of pain. So hopefully it's not too bad,
- 1:04:26like you said, if you can kind of just weather it for 3-4 weeks
- 1:04:28or so at shortstop. And again, he went later in
- 1:04:33drafts. So you probably already have
- 1:04:35your replacement on your team already.
- 1:04:37If you don't, you're going to have to look at other options.
- 1:04:40I mean, there's not a lot out there for short stops, I feel,
- 1:04:43or at least from a fantasy perspective.
- 1:04:45So we'll see what happens there. So Todd Bradley.
- 1:04:50Like you said, came from the rays.
- 1:04:52Shout out Griffin Jacks getting stretched out for starting roles
- 1:04:55moving forward, which is very fun to watch down here for me.
- 1:04:58But to watch Taj Bradley be so successful.
- 1:05:01It's been disappointing as a Rays fan down here to see his
- 1:05:04extent just all of a sudden pop out of nowhere after committing
- 1:05:09to him for so many years. Taj Bradley's one of my guys.
- 1:05:12He really is. And I I said that even before
- 1:05:15the season started. He is a very good pitcher that
- 1:05:18was ready to break out. He's only 26, really found his
- 1:05:22stride this year, so it's kind of a tough time to hit.
- 1:05:25Yeah, yeah. I'll pick the whole information.
- 1:05:27That just sounds painful. That just sounds like that's
- 1:05:29just going to be a minute before he comes back.
- 1:05:32That's not going to be minimum. So obviously he's going to over
- 1:05:35perform from where he drafted him.
- 1:05:37So it's a hit. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:05:39Because you had all the bonus points.
- 1:05:41I call him. I call him bonus points.
- 1:05:44But yeah, you're going to have to find somewhere else next
- 1:05:47week. There's a couple of other two
- 1:05:49starters out there that could be free agents.
- 1:05:51It's kind of risky, but one's Matt Painter pitching for the
- 1:05:55Phillies Kind of been up and down this year.
- 1:05:58He's had some clunkers, but he's also had some pretty good
- 1:06:00starts. So he could be out there free
- 1:06:06agency, the Jared Jones. Is coming back.
- 1:06:08Pretty soon, but I think we're going to talk about him in a
- 1:06:10second too. So I think he's might be out
- 1:06:12there if someone didn't stash him.
- 1:06:14So there's other options out there.
- 1:06:15I think for starting pitching, if if you look deep enough, I
- 1:06:18think what you can't replace is a Max Reid though.
- 1:06:21Can't replace a Max Reid guy. Was drafted what?
- 1:06:24High, second, low third round, give or take.
- 1:06:29Clearly A1A. You know, starting pitcher, 2
- 1:06:33type guy going into drafts. Playing for the Yankees, we get
- 1:06:36a lot of opportunities to win baseball games.
- 1:06:41Having a pretty good year so far this year.
- 1:06:43Top 15 guy. The strikeout's a little bit
- 1:06:47down. I like to see him up tick a
- 1:06:48little bit, but he is going to be on the ili think for a little
- 1:06:52bit as well. So again, tough guy to replace.
- 1:06:55You're going to have to get strategic, maybe make a move,
- 1:06:59trade if you have a gap now, if you don't have the depth that
- 1:07:03you're going to have to make a move.
- 1:07:05So tough list. I hate to see these guys that
- 1:07:08are pitching well and then hit the list.
- 1:07:10You know, last year, Shane Bieber, obviously we love Shane
- 1:07:14Bieber on this program. We saw how good he was pitching
- 1:07:17last year, then all of a sudden hits the shelf.
- 1:07:19Same thing with kind of like a Taj Bradley here.
- 1:07:21Then you also have Logan Webb on this list too.
- 1:07:23Also, I think he's been pitching her all year.
- 1:07:26He's been not the the same guy that we've seen last year.
- 1:07:29So I think there was an overdue IELTS then and he should
- 1:07:32probably take his time because they're not playing good
- 1:07:35baseball anyway. So it's nothing to rush back to.
- 1:07:40Yeah, it's it's a tough list. Because these are guys.
- 1:07:42A lot of these guys are like top three, top four round picks all
- 1:07:45together. You know, Webb, Webb and Freed
- 1:07:47probably went around the same time.
- 1:07:49Cal Riley went really early. Like these are guys that you,
- 1:07:52you know, Tyler Glasno. Yeah, they went later.
- 1:07:54But for the most part, a lot of this list is is a lot of guys
- 1:07:57that went pretty, pretty early in drafts.
- 1:08:00So it's tough to see for sure, but on the flip side, you got.
- 1:08:04Some people coming back so. Let's talk updates real quick.
- 1:08:06Let me run run through this list.
- 1:08:08We'll break it down for you Mike Mike can break it down.
- 1:08:10Excuse me and then we'll we'll take a quick break.
- 1:08:13So you got Red Sox 90 pitch of Garrett crochet.
- 1:08:16He threw a twenty pitch bullpen session Wednesday.
- 1:08:18It's the first time he threw any type of session since landing on
- 1:08:22the IL Next step will be to any bullpen session this weekend,
- 1:08:25then live hitters next week, putting him right on track for
- 1:08:28an early June return, which is nice to see unless you know he
- 1:08:31hits. He hits a snag, but fingers
- 1:08:32crossed he doesn't. This one was a fun one.
- 1:08:34I like to add just because I love Justin Verlander, Tiger
- 1:08:38Stony pitcher Justin Verlander. He faced live hitters this past
- 1:08:40week. He'll need a few more rehab
- 1:08:42starts before rejoining the rotation.
- 1:08:44So that could be a probably like a mid June type return for him.
- 1:08:48Speaking of catchers we were talking about earlier, Chicago
- 1:08:50catcher Kyle Thiel began a rehab assignment Tuesday.
- 1:08:52He could be activated early next week.
- 1:08:54So that's something to keep an eye on if you do need a catcher
- 1:08:56and you owned a Cal Riley who hit the IL.
- 1:09:00And then Speaking of Jared Jones, Pirate signing pitcher
- 1:09:03Janet Jones. He threw 4 scoreless innings,
- 1:09:05struck out four in his latest rehab start on Tuesday, threw 52
- 1:09:08pitches. So he's going to need a couple
- 1:09:10more to be stretched. But early June, late May is
- 1:09:15looking like his return, which is really good because couple
- 1:09:17years ago he was he was a really, he was a great pitcher
- 1:09:20for for Pittsburgh. And then you got Yankee starting
- 1:09:23pitcher Garrett Cole. I know we talk about him every
- 1:09:26week, but Dave not calling him up yet and they still won't.
- 1:09:30We'll probably talk about him again on this on this segment
- 1:09:33next week as well. Excuse me.
- 1:09:35He pitched 5 innings in his last rehab start on Sunday, Allowed
- 1:09:38two are in strikeout, 8 threw 77 pitches.
- 1:09:42They say two more rehab starts before being called up so late
- 1:09:46May, early June. And the last but not least, I
- 1:09:49did add this on here, Pedro, Padres starting pitcher Lucas
- 1:09:53Giolito. He pitched 6 innings, struck out
- 1:09:55three. He only gave up one one urn in
- 1:09:57his last rehab start. The club's debating whether they
- 1:10:00want to bring him up this weekend or give him one more
- 1:10:03start in the minors. He's been pitching every 4th day
- 1:10:06in the minors and his last start he went 75 pitches.
- 1:10:09So I don't think they would be a wrong answer either way.
- 1:10:12You call him up, you have him go 8590.
- 1:10:15Not that bad, but they might might be in the need for him.
- 1:10:20They may need that that rotation needs to get a rest.
- 1:10:23So I would say probably maybe call him up And man, Speaking of
- 1:10:31Speaking of the red. The Red Sox earlier.
- 1:10:34Myself, mayors just tied the game with a home run.
- 1:10:36Good to see. Yeah, there's no decision.
- 1:10:39He didn't get a quality. Start so.
- 1:10:40I'm happy man. But OK, that's the list.
- 1:10:43I own Lucas Giolito. I own Gary Cole.
- 1:10:45Very happy to see them come back.
- 1:10:47I I might even actually start Lucas Giolito next week in one
- 1:10:50of my leagues just because I have Max Reid.
- 1:10:53I had Tyler Glass. Now I'm strapped for starting
- 1:10:55pitching and it's that's what I have to do.
- 1:10:59That's what I have to do. But I'll be 4 and 2, so whatever
- 1:11:03I can afford to to do that. You got time.
- 1:11:05You got time on your hands when it comes to that.
- 1:11:07No, on the list. I mean, Garrett Crochet, good to
- 1:11:09see him coming back soon. I mean, Kyle Teal, you nailed
- 1:11:12it. We talked about, you know,
- 1:11:14replacements for Kyle Riley going on the IL.
- 1:11:16This is a guy that performed in the WBC.
- 1:11:19So this is a guy I think he's ready to take that next step.
- 1:11:22He's going to hit you for average.
- 1:11:23I think he's going to have some pop at his bat too.
- 1:11:25He is going to be fantasy relevant.
- 1:11:28He will be. So I think this is a time to get
- 1:11:30him right now if someone else already didn't pick him up.
- 1:11:34Jared Jones, obviously great to see Electric when he's healthy.
- 1:11:37He could be the real deal. That's an Oklahoma guy.
- 1:11:40And then Derek Cole, obviously we talk about him all the time,
- 1:11:44Probably talk about him next week, but we'll see.
- 1:11:46Really excited about him coming back.
- 1:11:48I think the Yankees are as well, especially with Max Freed
- 1:11:50hitting the IL now. They're going to see him come
- 1:11:52back. Andrew, don't he's been coming
- 1:11:54back pitching again. So that's been good to see.
- 1:11:56And then I guess there's another injury, Doug, I think Blake
- 1:12:00Snell, if I read it correctly, I believe he is back on the IL
- 1:12:03today as well. It sounded like he actually had
- 1:12:07some. He has the scubal, he's got the
- 1:12:09loose, the loose bones. So it looks like he's going to
- 1:12:12be gone for a little bit in that rotation.
- 1:12:15So between him and and Glasgow this week, they both went down.
- 1:12:20Yeah, I know. I saw they have.
- 1:12:23They they penciled in What's his name?
- 1:12:27Will Klein. To start tonight.
- 1:12:29And against the angels. So but I will say I like, I mean
- 1:12:34just I don't want to like get off topic, but that staff, I
- 1:12:37mean yesterday Sheehan looked really good like he went 6.
- 1:12:43I think he had about 6 strikeouts only gave up to one
- 1:12:46of them. But that was really an error
- 1:12:47that I don't think that was his fault at all.
- 1:12:49He looked good and you know, honestly, night and day for him
- 1:12:53in his starts, but he could be turning the corner.
- 1:12:56You know, it's not a bad rotation still.
- 1:12:58I mean, Yamamoto is not the Yamamoto, but we'll talk about
- 1:13:01him later on too. But you still have show a, you
- 1:13:04have Yamamoto, you have, you know, Sheehan and.
- 1:13:11And Klein is. ERA he's two and one with a 227.
- 1:13:14So it's not horrible, but I mean, The funny thing is the
- 1:13:19guys you actually paid for are all on the IL, You know, I mean
- 1:13:23you you busted out big contracts for Snell and big contracts for
- 1:13:25Tyler Glides. Now when they're not there, it's
- 1:13:28it and it's funny 'cause it's like this is how they win,
- 1:13:31right? They got the big names.
- 1:13:33They don't, they're not there for the regular season because
- 1:13:36they're resting for the playoffs and the playoffs come and they
- 1:13:39go in and they're in playoff mode.
- 1:13:40I mean, Blake's now, but he's how many times He had 10
- 1:13:43strikeouts, 10 plus strikeouts twice in two games last year.
- 1:13:47You know, he comes back and he just becomes a a playoff guy and
- 1:13:50then people think he'll be fine for the regular season and they
- 1:13:53fall into it and they race an early pick on him, but then he
- 1:13:55gets hurt. Same thing with Glass now, but
- 1:13:57that's the success. You know, this team, they'll
- 1:13:59stumble to the finish line, but when they get there, those guys
- 1:14:02will be there and it's like it kind of just always works out
- 1:14:05for them. It's just so weird.
- 1:14:07Yeah, it's a. Competitive division too.
- 1:14:11So it's it's. It is weird.
- 1:14:13It's weird, but it's fun to talk about, all right?
- 1:14:20Let's take a quick break and then we'll come back and talk
- 1:14:22about who's hot and who's that. How's that sound?
- 1:14:25Love it. All right, Don't go anywhere.
- 1:14:28Well. Get a refill, use the restroom.
- 1:14:31We'll be here. You got about a minute and a
- 1:14:32half, All right. You going back in there's.
- 1:14:37Still men out there. God damn.
- 1:14:48When I go home people ask me, hey who?
- 1:14:54Why do you do it man? Wow, some kind of war junkie.
- 1:15:01I won't say a goddamn word. What?
- 1:15:06They won't understand. They won't understand why we do
- 1:15:10it. They won't understand it's about
- 1:15:15the men next to you. And that's it.
- 1:15:19That's all it is. Find us on the web at MB Radio

- 1:15:34Remember, this is all about having fun and.
- 1:15:36Enjoying the. Ride.
- 1:15:41And now the guys you just love to hate, they're.
- 1:15:44Trash. It's it's.
- 1:15:47Man, it's a dustified man it's a man it's it's.
- 1:15:50Not Doug and Mike are. Back with more bourbon and ball.
- 1:16:09All right, is that time we're going to breeze through the?
- 1:16:11Who's hot, who's not? Section coming up right now,
- 1:16:13we're going to post a picture. I'm going to talk about the two
- 1:16:15hottest hitters, give you some honorable mentions.
- 1:16:18Mikey will come in, take control, break them down a
- 1:16:20little bit more. We'll do the same thing with
- 1:16:22pitchers and then we'll move on to who's not hot and who's been
- 1:16:26really cold this past week. So let's start out with who's
- 1:16:29not? All right, there you have it
- 1:16:34here. We go.
- 1:16:37There's the list right there for you, man.
- 1:16:40Some surprises, some not too surprises you.
- 1:16:45Know it's a it's a fun. List and I got to say I'm
- 1:16:48playing against Kurtz this week, so it was tough to see him hit
- 1:16:51that Grand Slam yesterday. Ace ace first baseman Nick Kurtz
- 1:16:5696% own a 409 average this past week.
- 1:16:59Two home 1, two home runs. Excuse me, One was a Grand Slam,
- 1:17:028 ribbies, seven runs, five strikeouts, even a stolen base,
- 1:17:0641 points, 6.8 a start. Next up and and this one's wild,
- 1:17:11'cause it's like every time I looked at the score for a
- 1:17:14Mariners game, it just showed him on the bottom hitting a home
- 1:17:17run. It was I was like, dude, this
- 1:17:19guy's on fire. It seemed like it.
- 1:17:21Anyways, you get Mariners outfield at first baseman Luke
- 1:17:23Really. 10.4% owned, A-350 average, 4 homers, 11 ribby, 7
- 1:17:29runs, six strike, gots, no stolen bases, 38 points, 6.3 a
- 1:17:33start. You got some honorable mentions.
- 1:17:35JJ Ballet, 37 points, Byron Buxton 36, Kyle Schwerber 34 and
- 1:17:41Bobby Witt junior. Good to see him turn the corner.
- 1:17:43He's got 32 points on the week. Yeah, he's been playing really
- 1:17:47good baseball. Lately.
- 1:17:49I was watching some of his highlights this week and he
- 1:17:50looks really, really good. Looks like he's been to the
- 1:17:52Bobby, Bobby Whit for him that we know of last year.
- 1:17:56Man, what a fun list. Let's start with Nick Kurtz.
- 1:17:59I mean, finally, like welcome back to the hot list.
- 1:18:02Nick Kurtz spent a minute, but you made it.
- 1:18:05You made it back. I mean, obviously the Grand Slam
- 1:18:08juiced it up a little bit, but he is starting to hit.
- 1:18:11I mean, two home runs, 8 RBIs, you know, the five strikeouts
- 1:18:15was also pleasant surprise too. You know, cut that down a little
- 1:18:19bit. So 41 points the week.
- 1:18:22Fantastic. This is the guy that you thought
- 1:18:24you were drafting. Hopefully he can keep it up.
- 1:18:26I don't know if he's going to keep it up.
- 1:18:28I hope he does. But you ride with them at this
- 1:18:31point. You also ride with Luke Riley at
- 1:18:33this point as well. This is a name that we don't
- 1:18:36really talk about often. We talk about how poor the
- 1:18:38offense has been Seattle and but really we don't highlight the
- 1:18:42guys that actually have been hitting well.
- 1:18:44And Luke Riley deserves a spot on this list.
- 1:18:47I mean, four more runs in a week, 11 RBIs, just an absolute
- 1:18:51stud. Just absolutely crushing it to
- 1:18:53Seattle. And if his teammates can pick up
- 1:18:56on that, that would also be great.
- 1:18:58But some of the the honorable mentions, I'm really excited to
- 1:19:01talk about JJ Podete. So.
- 1:19:05I've been watching a lot of Cincinnati Red games.
- 1:19:07Doug JJ Bladay is electric. He bats right behind Sal Stewart
- 1:19:12now. He bats fit and I feel like
- 1:19:15every time I watch him at bat he is at least getting a base hit.
- 1:19:19He has just been on fire for them.
- 1:19:21Also showing a little bit of pop as well.
- 1:19:23So if he's still free agent in some leagues, you got to go out
- 1:19:27and snag them, you got to ride the high hand while you can.
- 1:19:29This is the type of guy that you do go out and get.
- 1:19:32So if he's available, go get him, pick him up.
- 1:19:34Byron Buxton, Speaking of pickups, he was dropped in our
- 1:19:37league way too early and maybe in some other leagues too.
- 1:19:40People thought the old Byron Buxton was there.
- 1:19:42Nope. Byron Buxton is here to stay
- 1:19:45from last year. Clearly he's prepared the corner
- 1:19:47in his career where he's figured out majorly kidding and he's
- 1:19:50actually producing at a very high level for an outfield
- 1:19:54fantasy position. So great to see him on this
- 1:19:56list. I mean Kyle Schwarber, I'm
- 1:19:58watching the highlight right now.
- 1:19:59Kyle Schwarber's two home runs today.
- 1:20:01This guy is just a monster. He is looking to skip another 50
- 1:20:05plus home run season under his belt.
- 1:20:07Picked up where he started off last year and he should be a
- 1:20:10must start in all fantasy lineup.
- 1:20:12He's just an absolute beast for that.
- 1:20:15Philly's team that's trying to turn a corner, so they just
- 1:20:18intentionally walked them. They don't want to smoke.
- 1:20:20They rather they rather pitch to a Bryce Harper with the bases
- 1:20:23loaded up by three. That as Kyle Schwar would have
- 1:20:26tie the knee. That's the kind of hitter that
- 1:20:28he became. So great to see this.
- 1:20:31It's a fun list, Doug. Great list, Great list of guys,
- 1:20:35bunch of dudes. All right, let's start talking
- 1:20:38about. I'm going I'm going up against
- 1:20:42Jimmy has Bryce Harper, so I got to kind of watch that.
- 1:20:45Don't want another Grand Slam. So let's talk.
- 1:20:49Excuse me, throwers up with the bases load.
- 1:20:52Yeah, I was going to say, OK, let's talk.
- 1:20:54Pitching real quick when we already talked about him earlier
- 1:20:57today in a segment around the league.
- 1:20:59We're going to talk about him right now, Brewers starting
- 1:21:02pitcher Jacob Mesorowski. He's 97.3% owned one and O and
- 1:21:05two starts. So you got a no decision, but 13
- 1:21:08innings pitched, 21 strikeouts, two walks, no earned 47.24
- 1:21:14points and they weren't gimmies. Home versus the Yankees, home
- 1:21:17versus the Padres, pretty tough starts.
- 1:21:20So to see him with those numbers is really good.
- 1:21:23Dylan Cease, this was the guy we had on a buy low segment.
- 1:21:26You know, this is a guy that we had Blue Jays starting to pitch
- 1:21:29it, 98.7% owned, he wouldn't want to know and two starts.
- 1:21:33So we got a no decision, 14 innings pitched, 19 strikeouts,
- 1:21:36three walks, 1 earned, 44.72 points, Really good weeks.
- 1:21:40Honorable mentions. Chase Burns, he's coming into
- 1:21:43his own this year too. 43.76 points.
- 1:21:46Parker Messick, starting pitcher for Cleveland, 41.92 points,
- 1:21:50offering Bailey over 40.32 points.
- 1:21:54And that was because of a a complete game shut out that he
- 1:21:57pitched. And then last but not least, you
- 1:21:59have Anthony Kay, who I believe pitches for the White Sox with
- 1:22:0337.28 points. And that White Sox rotation
- 1:22:06might be a little underrated. A little underrated.
- 1:22:09It's upon rotation, you know, between.
- 1:22:11Between Martin, you got Burke going today.
- 1:22:14Like there's there's some guys in that rotation for sure.
- 1:22:18I mean, Leah, I mean, we already talked about Jacob Mesorowski.
- 1:22:20I don't want to keep popping on it, but he's been great.
- 1:22:22But like you said, I think Chase Burns, you can almost say he's
- 1:22:26on that same exact projectile as a Jacob Mesorowski.
- 1:22:30He's been pitching really good 6th innings, getting strikeouts
- 1:22:33left and right, get a strikeout pitcher, power guy, and I think
- 1:22:37he's got a good home in Cincinnati.
- 1:22:38I think that's a guy that we're going to have to keep an eye on
- 1:22:41at next year's drafts as well. But he's been playing great this
- 1:22:44year. Great to see him make this top
- 1:22:46list. Dylan Sees, I guess I made a
- 1:22:48mistake. I traded Dylan Sees in a bat for
- 1:22:51Logan Webb and that's just not going to fly.
- 1:22:53Dylan Sees, Power pitcher, strikeout, top three in the
- 1:22:56league and strikeouts absolutely crushing up in Toronto.
- 1:22:59Really good to see spent what, $240 million on them so far.
- 1:23:04They're getting their money's worth.
- 1:23:05So great to see him on this Bailey over.
- 1:23:08But you just said he had the the Maddox.
- 1:23:10He had the other 100 pitches, complete game, kind of an
- 1:23:13outliner game. Not a Bailey over guy anymore.
- 1:23:16Obviously got burned by him a couple times.
- 1:23:18Obviously I'm also playing against them.
- 1:23:19So I feel a certain way about all this.
- 1:23:21So I'm just going to leave it alone.
- 1:23:22I'm going to just throw it away and just say this is a one off,
- 1:23:25but Parker Messick. That's the guy I really.
- 1:23:30Do want to talk about that guy's actually becoming the front
- 1:23:33runner rookie of the year in the AL.
- 1:23:37You know, that kid from Detroit is a very, very good, but you
- 1:23:41have to kind of consider Emir Kami as well.
- 1:23:43But this kid Parker, if he can keep this up and pitch really
- 1:23:47consistent throughout this year and get enough innings under his
- 1:23:50belt, you have to consider him as rookie in the year in the AL.
- 1:23:53So again, great list of guys here.
- 1:23:56Little bit of new old school guys.
- 1:23:59It's it's it's a good mix. I like it.
- 1:24:01I like it. Yeah, I like I said, it's.
- 1:24:04It's funny that we had. Talked about Dylan sees for some
- 1:24:08some time a couple weeks ago on the show.
- 1:24:11And I like I said, when I saw him come out opening opening
- 1:24:14night and he looked electric against the A's, I thought this
- 1:24:18was going to be kind of a special year for him.
- 1:24:20And it's really turning out to be just that which you like to
- 1:24:23see. You know, it's the guy that
- 1:24:24maybe the Padres were just like, you know what, you can have him.
- 1:24:27You want to pay that much for him.
- 1:24:29And like you said, he's kind of showing his worth.
- 1:24:30So it's good. I think it's a good story
- 1:24:32personally, but I absolutely agree.
- 1:24:35All right. So who's not?
- 1:24:38There it is. It's like a lineup.
- 1:24:40Look at Kevin Gosden's face. It's like we just line these
- 1:24:43people up. The only one smiling is Max
- 1:24:44Reid. Maybe because he doesn't have to
- 1:24:46pitch anymore. He's got a little break.
- 1:24:49He's he's got a two week vacation.
- 1:24:51First and foremost, you got Ranger shortstop Corey Seger,
- 1:24:54who's 82 points. I think the funniest thing about
- 1:24:56these who's hot who's not list is that to see the drastic
- 1:25:02change in ownership in a week. Corey Seeger was owned a 95% of
- 1:25:08the leagues just a couple weeks ago.
- 1:25:10He was a hot. He was he was hot.
- 1:25:12He was a hot streak. But now 82.7% owned.
- 1:25:17That is wild. A0 average, no homers.
- 1:25:20One ribby. One run, 8 strikeouts, no stolen
- 1:25:23bases -5 points. Jazz, same thing.
- 1:25:27Second third baseman eligibility 85.1% on.
- 1:25:31This was a guy everybody talked about.
- 1:25:33Oh my God, you want this guy? Dual eligibility?
- 1:25:37He's going to be great. Pick him up.
- 1:25:38Plays for the Yankees. Contract year.
- 1:25:41What more could you ask for? You Add all that up, that's
- 1:25:43going to be a All Star year. 158 on the week, no homers, 1 ribby,
- 1:25:49no runs, 10 strikeouts -3 points.
- 1:25:52Not a fan of him. Never was honorable mentions.
- 1:25:55You had Cal Riley, Mike Trout, Kristen yelich -2 and Tyler
- 1:26:00soderstrom -1 yeah, the sold. Man, I thought he was going to
- 1:26:05turn it. Around a little bit.
- 1:26:06He's been struggling this year so far.
- 1:26:08At this point it really hasn't been that same same night like
- 1:26:11you saw in years previous. So far I mean.
- 1:26:16Man Corey Seeger 0 batting. Average woof.
- 1:26:22Terrible. We.
- 1:26:24Talk about guys all the time, right?
- 1:26:25We talk about. Guys that can lose your weeks,
- 1:26:28Corey Seeger's one of those guys that can lose your weeks -5 for
- 1:26:31the week that's really bad. That's just you.
- 1:26:33You'd rather have a vacant. That's the worst possible
- 1:26:36scenario in my opinion. And like you said, he was
- 1:26:40running a little. Bit of a hot bath.
- 1:26:41For a little bit, but yeah, just a really, really bad week.
- 1:26:46You know, Texas has kind of been the weird team.
- 1:26:49I, I don't know, I and I think he needs to change the scenery
- 1:26:51too. I I think he needs to get out of
- 1:26:53Texas and go somewhere else and try to find, find some type of
- 1:26:57spark, because it's not Texas, that's for sure.
- 1:27:01Jazz. I'm not a Jazz.
- 1:27:04Guy never been. Jazz Guy, We talk about jazz
- 1:27:06sometimes. We don't understand where the
- 1:27:08rankings come from. We know from boys from CBS
- 1:27:11sometimes and the way they they juice up guys like they juiced
- 1:27:15up Jazz, like he was going to be a top three second baseman and
- 1:27:19man, he's been anything but that.
- 1:27:22Honestly, Doug, I think he's droppable. 85% owned in leagues,
- 1:27:27doesn't score a lot of points for him.
- 1:27:29I think. I think the name is the only
- 1:27:31reason why he's at 85%. If you put blank bases up there
- 1:27:35with their stats, he used to be more like 50 percent, 40%.
- 1:27:39Like this guy shouldn't even be rostered at this point.
- 1:27:42Maybe that's a hot take, maybe not, but that's just my opinion
- 1:27:44on it. To see Mike Trout on here again,
- 1:27:47big strikeout guy. He doesn't hit the power or the
- 1:27:50home runs or anything like that. He can kill you after that.
- 1:27:53You know, Cal Riley talking about enough about Kyle Riley.
- 1:27:56He's not going to be around for a little bit.
- 1:27:58Christian Yelich, you know, the guy that's not usually talked
- 1:28:01about on this list on the who's not, but unfortunately just
- 1:28:04didn't have that great of a week.
- 1:28:06So and again, Tyler Swordstrom, there's kind of been a
- 1:28:09disappointment I think so far at this point.
- 1:28:11I had high expectations going into the year for him.
- 1:28:13Maybe he turns it around, maybe I'm overreacting.
- 1:28:16It's halfway through May. But hey, you know, we're just
- 1:28:19about 1/4 of the way through the season.
- 1:28:20So at this point, you know, we can say there's a bigger sample
- 1:28:24size out there now to say, you know, is, is this true or not
- 1:28:28true, you know, with some of these guys?
- 1:28:31Yeah. And and.
- 1:28:32Then I mean just to harp on the. Pitcher, you'll notice the
- 1:28:34common theme there is that you got 2 Yankees.
- 1:28:36We talked about the struggle that judges having this week.
- 1:28:39They're out of first place. I mean, the whole team right now
- 1:28:41I think is, I mean they're playing the Mets right now.
- 1:28:44They're up for zip, but it's the Mets and Clay Holmes is your
- 1:28:47starter. So these are the games that you
- 1:28:49should win, which they they are probably going to win today.
- 1:28:52But I mean, they're, they're struggling a little bit as a
- 1:28:55team offensively, you know, Max Freed, 99.7% on.
- 1:29:00I don't think that's ever going to change though, because when
- 1:29:02he's healthy, he's good. But you know, O and 29 innings
- 1:29:07pitch, 7 earned, four walks, 8 I mean, 987 KS, four walks, 8
- 1:29:12earned, excuse me -6.88 points. Well, you can sit there and say,
- 1:29:16well, his last night he got pulled.
- 1:29:18Well, what about the start before that?
- 1:29:20He still got a loss. So he he kind of wasn't in the
- 1:29:23right frame of mind even before he got hurt, right.
- 1:29:26His first start was in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
- 1:29:29The second when he got hurt was in Baltimore against the
- 1:29:32Orioles. Then you got Blue Jays starting
- 1:29:34pitcher Kevin Gozman. This is the guy we had a sell
- 1:29:36high guy when he was going. I mean, man, we're 2 for two
- 1:29:40early year, but two for two, I'll take it.
- 1:29:42A 94.4 average. Again, that was like 98 at the
- 1:29:46beginning of the year, you know, O and 1/4 and 2/3 innings
- 1:29:49pitched, 5 strikeouts, no walks, 6 earned -3.76 points.
- 1:29:55That was against Tampa Bay at home.
- 1:29:57That probably could have, should have been a winnable start in my
- 1:30:00opinion. But, and it's weird 'cause when
- 1:30:02you look at Gosman's numbers, like quality starts for him have
- 1:30:06been really tough to come by. I don't know what it is.
- 1:30:09I really don't like he's not walking a ton of people, zero
- 1:30:12walks. They're just really getting to
- 1:30:14him, I think. So it's his turn to make the
- 1:30:17adjustment. And then on the flip side of
- 1:30:19that, you had a lot of lot of Dodgers on here.
- 1:30:21You had Blake Snell, who gave you -2.56.
- 1:30:24You had Yamamamoto who only gave you a point.
- 1:30:26Ron Doan gave you 3, and then Bryce Miller actually first
- 1:30:29thought back from the IL. He didn't look too bad, didn't
- 1:30:31give you negative points, but didn't give you a ton.
- 1:30:34He gave you 3.56 points. Yeah, it's.
- 1:30:38It's a fun list again, you know. When you say Blake's now, when
- 1:30:41you say Carlos, Ron Doan, those are the guys that are just
- 1:30:43coming back from injury trying to get that feet under
- 1:30:45themselves still, you know, so I I kind of just.
- 1:30:49Chalked those up as kind of. Like a a shrug.
- 1:30:52You know, I think there's just there's going to be some time
- 1:30:54for those guys to, to get 100% the use of the, the day-to-day
- 1:30:59again from a Major League level level.
- 1:31:02And you know, they they'll figure it out, You know, except
- 1:31:06Blake Snell. So he's on the IL again.
- 1:31:09But hey, it is what it is. Again, you're going to have to
- 1:31:12stash Max Freed. That is what it is as well. 99%
- 1:31:16on obviously drafted very high. He's going to have to wait him
- 1:31:19out. That's just how it goes.
- 1:31:20And then Kevin Gosman, I watched this game, Doug, this was on
- 1:31:24Monday night. It was a rematch of Drew Rosman
- 1:31:27and him from the week prior. And man, it was like day and
- 1:31:31night for both of them, really. When I noticed with Kevin
- 1:31:34Gozman, though, like you said, there was no Watts, but he was
- 1:31:37leaving it over the plate. I remember Junior Caminero
- 1:31:39coming up. I think he had a couple of base
- 1:31:41hits off of them, but I remember they were hit hard they.
- 1:31:43Were very hard. You know, they they were
- 1:31:45barreling up him on Monday. So I don't know what's going on
- 1:31:50with the Gozman AM IA big. Fan of the gods man sometimes.
- 1:31:55Sometimes I like the gods, man. Sometimes he can get me 6
- 1:31:58innings, 10K's and a win. Like he, he just got that
- 1:32:00capability. But we also know the the bad
- 1:32:04that comes with the good sometimes with him.
- 1:32:06And like you said, Doug, if that velocity was at 98 pumping in
- 1:32:10April and all of a sudden now it's down to 94, you have to
- 1:32:13kind of question maybe there's something going on there with
- 1:32:15him. So just to keep in mind, you
- 1:32:18know, if you have an opportunity to maybe, you know, maybe move
- 1:32:21them if you got them you. Know maybe we're.
- 1:32:23Trying to give you some a sneak peek of what could happen in the
- 1:32:26next couple days if he doesn't pitch well on Sunday and you
- 1:32:31know, maybe he is having some, some issues.
- 1:32:33So it's, it sucks. It honestly, I don't want to
- 1:32:38spend too much time on it, Doug, but Toronto's not playing good
- 1:32:40baseball. Toronto's losing a lot of
- 1:32:42baseball games. They just got beat tonight 9th
- 1:32:44inning. So they're they're not playing
- 1:32:46well. Yeah, no, I I get you.
- 1:32:50I think that window to. To trade Gozman though for value
- 1:32:53wise is closed. I think you know what you're
- 1:32:56going to get to for him tomorrow or today versus what you could
- 1:33:00have got for him maybe 2 weeks ago.
- 1:33:02Is is drastically different. I don't think.
- 1:33:05I think it definitely went down a couple notches in my opinion
- 1:33:08anyways. Oh, it did.
- 1:33:10It definitely did. And that's how it.
- 1:33:11Goes sometimes it just they can switch in in a week or two then
- 1:33:15all of a sudden you value shot or you value skyrocketed.
- 1:33:20You know, either way sometimes, but Gosman right now it's down,
- 1:33:23stock is down and that's why we do these hot or not skits is.
- 1:33:27Because they're based off weekly stats, not yearly.
- 1:33:30So it'll give you an idea of, well, who's trending up and
- 1:33:33who's trending down. It's like the stock market of
- 1:33:35fantasy baseball really is how I picture it.
- 1:33:39And just to not. Don't want to get too a little
- 1:33:42off topic, but Soto just hit a home run offshore that's
- 1:33:45back-to-back. Days with a home run, so maybe
- 1:33:47he. Might be turning in the right
- 1:33:49direction and they're going to put people on base for him they.
- 1:33:52Got to give gifts guys on base for him.
- 1:33:54I'm hoping when Lindor comes back that can.
- 1:33:57Really ignite I I really am, you know, but we'll we'll have to
- 1:34:00see what happens. So, all right, let's talk about
- 1:34:03some Wheeling deal in here, All right.
- 1:34:13Now this is what I mean. This is going to be selling.
- 1:34:15The hype, I'm going to start with people I'm selling and let
- 1:34:17me tell you, this one might throw you off a little bit
- 1:34:20because you're going to be like, well, what?
- 1:34:21But if there's a good argument to be had here, so just throw me
- 1:34:24to the wolves right away. There he is.
- 1:34:27King Tuck. We all know the Tucker men right
- 1:34:29from the Astros. Listen, Dodgers off fielder Kyle
- 1:34:32Tucker, he's 99.7% on. I'm not saying he's horrible.
- 1:34:35I'm not saying you should go out and trade him tomorrow.
- 1:34:37But hear me out first, OK? This is him on the week.
- 1:34:41He's got a 263, no homers, ribby, three runs, 4 strikeouts,
- 1:34:45no stolen bases, 14 points to a start.
- 1:34:48All right, again, numbers on the week.
- 1:34:50All right, OK. But you know what scares me a
- 1:34:54bit? He has four home runs on the
- 1:34:56year. He has four.
- 1:34:59He's on pace for just about 20, maybe even less, right?
- 1:35:03You look at his case, he's at 36 for the year.
- 1:35:06That's not bad. But he's never broken 100
- 1:35:09strikeouts in a year. He's on pace to break 100
- 1:35:12strikeouts right now. OK, Everyone expected a great
- 1:35:153030 year from him being with the Dodgers.
- 1:35:19He's three stolen bases. This is not the output you
- 1:35:23expected from your late 1st, early second round pick.
- 1:35:26It's just not, you know, listen, he's got a lot of name appeal.
- 1:35:30He's playing for the Dodgers. That definitely helps,
- 1:35:33especially if you're looking to sell.
- 1:35:34You know, I'd be tempted to at least see what's out there.
- 1:35:37If I owned him, I really would. You know, there are players that
- 1:35:40are in the outfield eligible right now that are that, that
- 1:35:42are just outperforming him, which is crazy to think about.
- 1:35:45You know, Randy, Rosarina, Burleson, O'Neill, Cruz, Buxton,
- 1:35:49Paje, Trout Woods, like all people that were drafted much,
- 1:35:52much, much later than Tucker. I don't think Tucker's overrated
- 1:35:56at all, don't get me wrong, But I think the the lack of the
- 1:35:59power and speed that he usually does have that you're not seeing
- 1:36:03kind of scares me. And as an owner, that might make
- 1:36:06me look to see what's out there and what's available to trade
- 1:36:09because those stats are just wild to see their their career
- 1:36:13lows and career highs for strikeouts.
- 1:36:16So those are just things you should really pay attention to
- 1:36:18because it it's that Dodgers lineup is kind of struggling a
- 1:36:22little bit. You know, Otani, one of the
- 1:36:25longest Hitler streaks he's had in his career this year just a
- 1:36:28week ago. And so just things to think
- 1:36:32about, you know, not to say he's horrible.
- 1:36:34He's still averaging like 2.8 to start, but I would kind of be
- 1:36:38inclined to see. What's out there?
- 1:36:40Before. If it does get any worse, well
- 1:36:44if you get the. Depth to to shop around this.
- 1:36:46Is the guy to shop around, you know, with it's a guy that's
- 1:36:49underperforming. You drafted him high, but I
- 1:36:51think you nailed it with the name appeal.
- 1:36:53The name appeal I think is almost kind of his biggest asset
- 1:36:56because we know what is track it is.
- 1:36:59He's got a pretty good track record.
- 1:37:00He's an overall, you know, 52 type player when he's a healthy
- 1:37:04guy. I don't know what's going on in
- 1:37:06LA with him right now. I do think he will shake it up.
- 1:37:08I do think he's a good better hitter than what he's been
- 1:37:10performing with. Again, the track record shows it
- 1:37:14and I think I'd stern, I'd stay firm with the value of a Kyle
- 1:37:20Tucker, like you said, late first round, second round type
- 1:37:23guy, you know, maybe early third round in some leagues, whatever.
- 1:37:27But really for the most part, I think you if you shot a Kyle
- 1:37:31Tucker, I would expect I think a pretty good value back.
- 1:37:36Still. And whether if you believe.
- 1:37:39It or not? If you're not a believer, it's
- 1:37:41like you know what? Then you make the deal.
- 1:37:43You just may go out and you make a good deal.
- 1:37:45Now, what kind of value do you want to get for a Kyle Tucker?
- 1:37:48I think there's good value out there for a Kyle Tucker.
- 1:37:52You're not going to get these guys that are over performing
- 1:37:54right now and they're playing at a high level, but the guy that's
- 1:37:57also maybe not playing at a high level either is probably the
- 1:37:59guys that you want to target, especially guys that were
- 1:38:02drafted around the same time. For sure.
- 1:38:06I think there's a lot of opportunity there.
- 1:38:08What do you think, Doug? What would you do with the Kyle
- 1:38:10Tucker if you had a Kyle Tucker? Well, he's not performing.
- 1:38:13Where I think he. Should be, not.
- 1:38:15To say that he can't, but let's just I hate when people, you
- 1:38:19know, people say, oh, well, you know, you know, we can turn it
- 1:38:22around like he can. But Willy, you know, show me
- 1:38:25before you tell me that's I'm a man who likes to see things
- 1:38:28happen as opposed to hear them happen.
- 1:38:32At this point, if I was a Kyle Tacorona and I was going to shop
- 1:38:36him around, I'd probably do it 2 For one, I do a quality.
- 1:38:40Picture a quality hitter. Because A1 for one right now
- 1:38:44would be a tough sell for for both people involved.
- 1:38:47Like you're selling Tucker for a one person and I might be giving
- 1:38:52up a great person who's hitting now, but who's to say that he
- 1:38:54can't? You know what I mean?
- 1:38:55It's like I think a trade with a Tucker would be a 2 for one.
- 1:38:58And I'm not saying like bottom of the barrel 2 for one, like 2
- 1:39:01OK guys. I'm talking about two really
- 1:39:03good guys for a Tucker to me would would make more sense than
- 1:39:07A1 for one. That's all what 2 guys?
- 1:39:10I I mean, man, that's you would really have to sit down and look
- 1:39:14at your roster and figure that out.
- 1:39:16You know that obviously I think an outfielder would be in there
- 1:39:18and I would probably maybe throw in a pitcher, but it would be
- 1:39:23it'd be tough. I'd have to see what the what
- 1:39:25what you would have on your roster.
- 1:39:27That would make sense, Really. Yeah, I was thinking.
- 1:39:31You know my the 1st. Thing that pops in my head for
- 1:39:33like a one for one would be like a Jackson Cheerio.
- 1:39:36Jackson Cheerio got drafted, you know, fourth, fifth round or so,
- 1:39:40came back from his injury about a week ago.
- 1:39:42So pretty good baseball hit for average, right?
- 1:39:45So is he the type of guy that you would, you know, be inclined
- 1:39:48for for Kyle Tucker, even though, yeah, he went a few
- 1:39:50rounds later and there's really not much of A track record this
- 1:39:55year yet with Jackson. But is that something that you,
- 1:39:58if you just want to give up on the Kyle Tucker experiment all
- 1:40:00together? Maybe that's a person I go out
- 1:40:02to. But like you said, maybe a guy
- 1:40:04like a Roman Anthony in another piece, you know, a guy that's
- 1:40:07really underperforming. Obviously does have the tools to
- 1:40:10be a better hitter. Maybe you put him in, maybe you
- 1:40:12get another starting pitcher in there, you know, but it's tough
- 1:40:17because everyone values guys differently.
- 1:40:19I would say. Is she in, you know, is she in
- 1:40:21in a Roman Anthony for Kyle Tucker?
- 1:40:24I don't know. I think it's a little light
- 1:40:26still. It's it's kind of tough to think
- 1:40:28about it on the spot, but I think that's something.
- 1:40:30I think you're right. I think A2 for one would be
- 1:40:32perfect for Kyle Tucker. Yeah.
- 1:40:36Yeah, I mean, I, I think. Maybe like someone a little
- 1:40:39better than than those guys, but, you know, not not too much
- 1:40:43better, you know? Yeah, I I agree with that.
- 1:40:48Next up, this is who I'm selling.
- 1:40:50And this is really more for value right here.
- 1:40:53There he is. Look at that.
- 1:40:55I I looks like snow starting pitcher for the Giants.
- 1:41:00You got Robbie Ray. He's only 78.4% on which is kind
- 1:41:03of silly on the year. 3 and 550 innings pitch.
- 1:41:06Forty strike, 49 strikeouts, 20 walks.
- 1:41:09A little high a 3 ERA, three O 4 which is really good. 81 points,
- 1:41:1310.1 a start. Very rosterable.
- 1:41:15Startable on the week 1 and 1. 10 and 2/3 innings, 9
- 1:41:21strikeouts, 4 earnings, six walks, 20 points.
- 1:41:24He first start was a win at home versus the Pirates, which is a
- 1:41:27really good team. Second was a loss against the
- 1:41:30Dodgers, which is to be expected with the offense.
- 1:41:32Listen, I think Robbie Ray with these overall numbers is
- 1:41:35pitching like a Cy Young contender again, like he did
- 1:41:37with Toronto. Great numbers overall.
- 1:41:40We all knew that. The Giants offense though,
- 1:41:43looked a little rough. And I think that's what you're
- 1:41:45seeing and that's why I have him on here as a cell.
- 1:41:49Because when you're giving up two earned and three earned and
- 1:41:52you're not winning any of those outings, that's that's more the
- 1:41:55offense and how you're pitching. I mean, listen to this, right?
- 1:41:58Give up two earned at Cincinnati, got the loss. 3
- 1:42:02earned at the Nationals, got the loss, 3 earned.
- 1:42:04Tippa Bay lost 3 earned at the Dodgers in the loss.
- 1:42:06He literally can only give up 1 earned run.
- 1:42:09Any more than that and he gets the loss.
- 1:42:11It is a wild sad story for that entire rotation.
- 1:42:16Still drafted him in the 19th round.
- 1:42:18Right around that's you hit a home run.
- 1:42:21With the pick. Now here's your chance to cash
- 1:42:24in on it. A lot of pitchers have gone down
- 1:42:26with injuries. Desperate teams sometimes offer
- 1:42:29more than they normally would for a really good pitcher.
- 1:42:32Here's a chance to to capitalize and take advantage of that.
- 1:42:35You know, maybe look to upgrade a different position.
- 1:42:39Chances are when you drafted him in the 19th round tells me he
- 1:42:42was probably a bench guy that you took a gamble on.
- 1:42:44You paid off on the gamble. Now's your chance to move them.
- 1:42:47So I would probably look to maybe trade them on a team that
- 1:42:51maybe does have a Max freed and A and a Tyler glass now that hit
- 1:42:54the IL today, you know, and and try to offer a try to get a
- 1:42:58little more because desperation is a huge thing you could take
- 1:43:01advantage of in fantasy. I absolutely.
- 1:43:05Agree. Hey, I'm a Robbie Ray guy.
- 1:43:07Doug, you. Know that I'm a big Robbie Ray
- 1:43:08guy and he's been pitching so good this year.
- 1:43:11I don't know, I'm, I might be on the other side of that on his
- 1:43:16performance just because I'm what I'm doing right now is I'm
- 1:43:18going to see what his contract looks like because I think they
- 1:43:20just picked up his option. He's an unrestricted free agent
- 1:43:232027. So right now, this is actually
- 1:43:26his last year with the Giants. The way the team has been
- 1:43:29playing, there could be an implosion on that team.
- 1:43:32We talked, we kind of hinted about it earlier in the show and
- 1:43:35Ronnie Ray is kind of that perfect candidate to say, hey,
- 1:43:39I'll tell you what, we'll trade you.
- 1:43:40Robbie Ray, he's $25 million this year.
- 1:43:43Obviously, if he's traded halfway to the years 12.5, let's
- 1:43:47say, if you could just eat 10 mil or 6 mil or half of it,
- 1:43:50right? You know, And then you just all
- 1:43:52of a sudden on maybe a contending team, there's a lot
- 1:43:55of teams I think that would love Robbie Ray going into September
- 1:44:00and August and really boostering people's rotation that are in
- 1:44:03contention. And I think he's just one of
- 1:44:06those guys that you got to seek out.
- 1:44:08So the run support, yes, I 100% agree.
- 1:44:11He doesn't get it, which sucks because we saw the last year
- 1:44:15with Paul Skeens and the Pirates.
- 1:44:17And obviously it kills you in vanishing with the points
- 1:44:21because wins do add up. And if you lose, you know, four
- 1:44:25or five wins, that's 4050 points off a guy that's that's a ton of
- 1:44:28points, you know, throughout the year.
- 1:44:30So, but yeah, I think right now. I'm still holding.
- 1:44:34I still. Think he's a great pitcher and I
- 1:44:36do think there's an opportunity for him to move from the Giants
- 1:44:40if they continue to keep losing the way they are.
- 1:44:43They have way too much money on their payroll to keep afloat.
- 1:44:48Just keep losing. It just doesn't doesn't make
- 1:44:51sense between Devers, between Chapman, between Adamas, between
- 1:44:57Lee and the outfield, between, you know, Robbie Ray's
- 1:45:0025,000,000, there's just a lot of money out there.
- 1:45:02So I, I, you know, again, just think there's an opportunity
- 1:45:06there. So I'm hold, I'm a, I'm a Robbie
- 1:45:09Ray Holder. Like I said, man, I I.
- 1:45:12Would not. Hate you to hold because you got
- 1:45:14to steal on him. And you know, we all know when
- 1:45:17he's healthy how good he can be. Proved it with Toronto.
- 1:45:21I'm just saying if if you have a pretty decent rotation and you
- 1:45:26can afford to let somebody go and you need help somewhere
- 1:45:29else, why not try to try to make the move?
- 1:45:33That's all I mean I. I wouldn't, you know, but yeah,
- 1:45:37there are a lot of if he does get traded, like I, I would love
- 1:45:40to see him get traded because Giants aren't doing him any
- 1:45:43favors, right that we talked about the offense.
- 1:45:46So that would probably best case scenario that he does get
- 1:45:50traded. But if he doesn't and you're
- 1:45:54stuck holding a guy that's probably going to finish 500
- 1:45:56with, you know, a 334 ERA where on any other team he'd probably
- 1:46:03be like, you know, 13 and five or something.
- 1:46:05So that's, yeah, he'd be toast. He'd be toast.
- 1:46:10Yeah, All right, so let's. Talk about buying a hype and
- 1:46:12this. Was a guy that you had mentioned
- 1:46:14earlier today talking about the Braves team and he's my boy.
- 1:46:19I think this is a great time to buy if you if you need a second
- 1:46:23basement. There he is second baseman for
- 1:46:27the Braves. Ozzie Albies, 96.6% own not the
- 1:46:31best week, you know, a .83 average, no homers, 2 ribbies,
- 1:46:34one run, 4 strikeouts, just two points, but they're not
- 1:46:37negative. So it's all right.
- 1:46:38It's not too bad. I think this right now is the
- 1:46:40ultimate by low for him. Not a great week.
- 1:46:44Not a great week for the entire team, as we talked about with
- 1:46:47Matt Olson's numbers. And it also probably didn't help
- 1:46:51that they played nine games away, right?
- 1:46:53They were in Colorado, then they were in Seattle, then they went
- 1:46:55to the Dodgers. So they were they were gone.
- 1:46:56They were on the road for the last week and a half.
- 1:46:58You know, that's a lot of travelling.
- 1:47:00They're home tonight. But still, you know, I mean, the
- 1:47:04thing about his numbers, he's only got 24 strikeouts on the
- 1:47:07year. That's a number he's really cut
- 1:47:09down on. That tells me he's making
- 1:47:10contact. You know, he's still hitting
- 1:47:12290, which is not too bad. And you also got to take into
- 1:47:16account the Acunia junior factor.
- 1:47:17He's out. The team has really struggled
- 1:47:20that leadoff. You know, the lineup changes
- 1:47:22every day. And as much as I think Acuna is
- 1:47:25overrated, he does make the lineup go just because.
- 1:47:30People realize when he's in. The lineup where they're going
- 1:47:32to hit, right? I mean, if Acuna is that in
- 1:47:35leadoff, that means Albi's probably going to be in the
- 1:47:36middle. But now he's not there.
- 1:47:39He's on the IL still a couple weeks away.
- 1:47:41Albie's bats lead off. Sometimes he's third, sometimes
- 1:47:44he's 4th. So he's everywhere just because
- 1:47:46he's trying to fill these roles. You know now, now they have
- 1:47:48Mauricio Dubin starting lead off.
- 1:47:50I mean, it's it's a tough thing to swallow when you're when
- 1:47:54you're an owner and these people that are figures, key figures in
- 1:47:59a lineup are hurt. So I you.
- 1:48:03Know he's still a couple weeks from.
- 1:48:04Returning, I still think I'd buy on Albie's right now just
- 1:48:07because this, this is probably the floor, you know?
- 1:48:10Yeah, he's been struggling this past week.
- 1:48:12He's still the 4th 2nd baseman. He averages 2.7 to start.
- 1:48:18The Braves are still a great team offensively, regardless of
- 1:48:21the struggle. You know, and I'll say it again,
- 1:48:23when one guy struggles, the entire team does.
- 1:48:25That's just how they are. But I think this is a great
- 1:48:28chance to buy or upgrade on a position that a lot of people
- 1:48:31punt on during drafts. You know, second base is a
- 1:48:33position where people are like, you know, what if I'm not
- 1:48:35getting, you know, these two guys or whatever, I'm just going
- 1:48:38to wait. And L BS was probably one of the
- 1:48:41guys that went earlier. So I think it's a great chance
- 1:48:44to go in and buy, buy, buy an L BS and plug them in.
- 1:48:46So I, I think I'm buying, I'm buying Alby's.
- 1:48:51I mean, you, you, you're an Alby's guy, Doug.
- 1:48:53I mean, this guy has bounced back this year from last year
- 1:48:56and showing some more, some more hope than what he what he was
- 1:49:01doing previously. And the whole team, I think, is
- 1:49:04playing better offensively as a whole, maybe not at this moment,
- 1:49:07but as a whole from like last year.
- 1:49:10Last year, I just feel like they couldn't get anything together.
- 1:49:12No one stepped up for that Braves.
- 1:49:15Line up and they had a. Really, really tough year,
- 1:49:17except for Chris Sale, but this year it's a different.
- 1:49:21Story we're talking about. Matt Olson we're talking about.
- 1:49:24Alby's we're talking about a little bit Michael Harris a
- 1:49:26couple weeks ago who was hot for a little bit.
- 1:49:29Like now we're starting to talk Braves offensive baseball again,
- 1:49:32and I think Albiz is the centerpiece of that.
- 1:49:34He's the guy that kind of makes it go round, right?
- 1:49:36Like you said, he's batting second, he's batting third, he's
- 1:49:39batting 4th. Like he can bat wherever he
- 1:49:42needs to in that lineup, which means he's going to get
- 1:49:44opportunities for RBIs, runs. This is the player he is.
- 1:49:48I'm a buy, you know, 2.7. That's startable all day in my
- 1:49:52book, especially at a position at second base.
- 1:49:55Yeah, I'll definitely buy. I.
- 1:49:57Would definitely give an. Asset up if I needed a position
- 1:49:59like second base yeah, I I. I think you have to give.
- 1:50:05Up a little something there you know first thing that came to
- 1:50:08mind Doug think about it like a Bregman right, a Bregman for
- 1:50:12albies. I don't think Bregman's really
- 1:50:15crushing it right now but I don't know if he's loving
- 1:50:18Chicago at this point. I don't know, I really can't get
- 1:50:21a a pulse on Bregman, but an Albies, you kind of know what
- 1:50:25you're getting with them. So what are your thoughts?
- 1:50:28What are your thoughts though? That's maybe I'm talking crazy.
- 1:50:32No, no, no, I mean. Again, it's all about like the
- 1:50:36right trade and if I'm trading in LB's, obviously he was
- 1:50:39drafted as my primary second baseman.
- 1:50:41So I would probably want, if I didn't pick up a good player off
- 1:50:44off the free agent wire, I'd probably want one back in return
- 1:50:46and somebody else, you know you would.
- 1:50:49I think you would have to do a 2 for two like an LB's and another
- 1:50:52player for, you know, a, a, a second baseman you have and
- 1:50:56somebody else, you know, or, or yeah, I mean, now I'm thinking
- 1:51:00about it like Ajj Weatherholt. You play second base, right?
- 1:51:03Throw him in the tree with Albies and then do a, you know,
- 1:51:05do A2 for two. It's kind of even all that out.
- 1:51:10I mean, that's not a bad trade. Honestly.
- 1:51:14Actually that's. A That's a pretty good
- 1:51:15foundation. Yeah, it really is right.
- 1:51:20And I love the Braves. I love the line up.
- 1:51:21So I, I, like I said I would, I would buy low because I really
- 1:51:25do think this is his floor. And if this is his floor, then
- 1:51:28we've seen the ceiling. It can go pretty well.
- 1:51:30I mean, he's got a decent amount of home runs already.
- 1:51:32I think he's got like what, 8 or 9 for the year?
- 1:51:35I mean, you know, he's kind of right on pace with almost thirty
- 1:51:38home runs, which is wild for a second baseman.
- 1:51:40And he's gotten there before. So it's not like he can't do it.
- 1:51:45But yeah, I would, I would definitely try to buy him if if
- 1:51:47I could. I I would.
- 1:51:50Oh, yeah. No, I think that's.
- 1:51:52AI think that's a really good buy.
- 1:51:53Located right now. All right, so let's go.
- 1:51:56With another one and this. One is, I mean, man, we just
- 1:52:00talked about this guy. We talked about the rotation
- 1:52:03there. He is doing some.
- 1:52:04Yoga. We all know who that.
- 1:52:06Is that is Mr. Yamamoto the starting pitcher for the Dodgers
- 1:52:0999.8% owned This is there's a big explanation to why I have
- 1:52:15him as a buy low. You could also, Yeah, I would
- 1:52:18just say it by level. Let me go over his year numbers
- 1:52:20here. He's 3 and 350 innings pitched,
- 1:52:2248 strikeouts, ten walks, a three, 6 ERA, 97 points, 12.1
- 1:52:26start. Not too bad.
- 1:52:28Last start we talked about him on the cold list.
- 1:52:30Oh, and one, six and a third. It's 8 strikeouts, 5 earned, no
- 1:52:35walks. Only gave you one point.
- 1:52:38That was at home versus the Dodgers.
- 1:52:39Listen, this is not the guy people were expecting to see
- 1:52:43after drafting him around the third in drafts.
- 1:52:47So he went around the third round in drafts.
- 1:52:48I I think they expected someone that would give them probably a
- 1:52:51little lower ERA, maybe a low three, maybe a little more
- 1:52:55strikeouts per inning. But you can't knock the numbers
- 1:52:58he has. He's still fantasy relevant, but
- 1:53:01man, look at his last four starts. 3 earned at San
- 1:53:05Francisco, 3 earned home versus Miami, 3 earned at Houston, and
- 1:53:09now 5 earned at San Francisco. Not sure owners are.
- 1:53:13Jumping ship just yet? But I think this is a great
- 1:53:17opportunity to go out and offer something for him.
- 1:53:20You know, if they come back with a counter, then you know,
- 1:53:23they're looking to unload. Then you got some, you know,
- 1:53:25some talking to do you know, pitchers for a great offense?
- 1:53:29He pitches for a great offense. But again, we always say
- 1:53:33expectations are key. And with him and the innings he
- 1:53:36pitched last year with the playoffs in the World Series,
- 1:53:38those expectations probably could be a little limited
- 1:53:40because they might probably have an effect on the way he's
- 1:53:43pitching right now. To be honest, I think he's a
- 1:53:46great arm. Probably went a little too early
- 1:53:48in Jeff's just because of the playoff production.
- 1:53:51To me, he probably should have went around or two later.
- 1:53:53Probably when like I think of Ryan Wu or George Kirby win,
- 1:53:59that's probably the round couple rounds later that he went, he
- 1:54:02should go. That's just me, but I think.
- 1:54:05This is a great chance to get. A guy who is an SP2A number 2
- 1:54:10starting pitcher, not the SP one that he was probably drafted as.
- 1:54:15Probably a little cheaper. Yeah, last year he went deep in
- 1:54:20the playoffs. He pitched.
- 1:54:21Really. Well, in the playoffs, we know
- 1:54:22the World Series story and there's always going to be
- 1:54:26fatigue. I, I truly do believe there's
- 1:54:28always fatigue after a long playoff push, especially when
- 1:54:31you're trying to win the whole entire thing.
- 1:54:34And they did that with Yamamoto. They they put him in the
- 1:54:36bullpen. They hadn't come out like they
- 1:54:38they really, they stretched him to the Max, I think last year.
- 1:54:42And I think this year you're starting to see a little bit of
- 1:54:44a slow start with them because of that.
- 1:54:46You know, I think he's still pretty tired, to be honest with
- 1:54:49you. I think there's between the
- 1:54:50World Baseball Classic 2 on top of that, you know, playing for
- 1:54:54Team 10, there's been a lot of pitching that has been done, I
- 1:54:58say in the past even six months for Yamamoto, maybe seven
- 1:55:02months. October, right?
- 1:55:03Yeah. So maybe seven months.
- 1:55:04So still that's that's a lot of pitching for a lot of, you know,
- 1:55:07dead time out there too. Yeah, dangle, dangle.
- 1:55:13Yamamoto. If they're countering like you
- 1:55:15said, they're interested in it, what would I give?
- 1:55:18For a Yamamoto at this. Point look, I still think he's
- 1:55:21an elite. I still think he's a top ten
- 1:55:24guy. I think he plays for the
- 1:55:26Dodgers. So he's still going to get win
- 1:55:27opportunities like more than often than not.
- 1:55:31And now with Snow and Glads now hurt, I think they need him more
- 1:55:36than ever to step up. They need the old Yamamoto to
- 1:55:40come back and pitch 6-7 innings, give up 1 and get the win.
- 1:55:44Like they need to start to relieve some of that rotation
- 1:55:47and some of that bullpen. I think now because of the
- 1:55:50injuries that have been happening.
- 1:55:51So I'm. I'm buying.
- 1:55:53I'm buying. Yeah, I am too.
- 1:55:56It's. Just a matter of what it would.
- 1:55:57Take for him, you know, I don't want to overpay, but just
- 1:56:00because I know, you know, when he's not going, he's not like an
- 1:56:06elite guy. You know, you literally, you
- 1:56:08look at his last four starts, 3:00 and 3:00 and 3:00 and 5:00.
- 1:56:10That's, I mean, that's a lot of hard runs.
- 1:56:13You know, so it when he's not going, he's not going, but when
- 1:56:17he is, he is. So it's tough to because he's
- 1:56:19been so night and day. Like he, he started off really
- 1:56:22hot this year. I think his ERA, the first month
- 1:56:24was like a 28 and now it's just ballooned to A-36 just because
- 1:56:28of his four starts. Which Yamamoto am I going to
- 1:56:32trade for and what am I going to get?
- 1:56:35And then on flip side of that, I don't want to trade somebody
- 1:56:37that I think I know he's consistent that can, you know,
- 1:56:40give me these, you know, give me a good average every start he
- 1:56:44goes out there and then get somebody who's just so
- 1:56:47inconsistent. That's the question.
- 1:56:49I would be kind of. Contemplating when?
- 1:56:51I'm offering this trade for Yamamamoto, that's all.
- 1:56:55It's it's really more about. What I'm going to give up?
- 1:56:58I want him, but what am I going to give up for?
- 1:57:01That's the only question. Yeah, I mean.
- 1:57:04Again, on the spot it's tough, but.
- 1:57:06It's you're going to have to give up something for him.
- 1:57:09So he's still on the Dodgers. He's still their number one.
- 1:57:12And like I said, they're going to he's going to produce.
- 1:57:14He's still going to produce. I don't I think he will come
- 1:57:17back from these bunkers. We'll call him, you know, these
- 1:57:20three-year and these five year and I think he'll be back.
- 1:57:22So I still think if you're a Yamamoto owner, I'd keep the
- 1:57:27price tag. I still I I would keep it at a,
- 1:57:31you know, a Tier 1, Tier 2 type player.
- 1:57:34In return. So yeah, it's, it's a tough one,
- 1:57:38but you're going to have to give it up, yeah.
- 1:57:42Yeah, no, I agree. I agree.
- 1:57:46Well, that's all right, man. Look at that.
- 1:57:47We got. Right through.
- 1:57:49Right on time. Right on time.
- 1:57:53What a great show, man. Started off talking about some
- 1:57:56of the younger guys, which is always fun to talk about.
- 1:57:58Start talking about IL guys, who's coming back, who's hot,
- 1:58:03who's not this past week. And of course some of these
- 1:58:05really good buy low, sell high candidates.
- 1:58:08So really great show. I had a good time talking about
- 1:58:11it. It's about that time.
- 1:58:14Any good games on tonight? Not like last week, probably
- 1:58:18still still watch a couple but and my drink is about finished
