- 0:12Speaker 2: The worlds of Vigeonal podcast.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:22Speaker 3: The AFC's wide open. It's a pretty even feel. There's
- 0:26Speaker 3: going to be a loser in every one of these games,
- 0:27Speaker 3: you know, and it's going to come down to bad
- 0:30Speaker 3: call or turn over, jeez or whatever. I'm so proud
- 0:35Speaker 3: of your friend.
- 0:36Speaker 4: No one's right out of my flat working out played.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It's going to come down.
- 0:40Speaker 4: And Fred, you know that I spent a lot of
- 0:42Speaker 4: my time not only rooting for the Boston teams, but
- 0:44Speaker 4: rooting for Northeastern, which means I have a lot of
- 0:46Speaker 4: losing and a lot of callous day after games, you know, mentality.
- 0:51Speaker 5: I think the reason why a lot of people are
- 0:53Speaker 5: dreading losing this game is because they've heard all year
- 0:56Speaker 5: long that this team is fraudulent because of the schedule
- 0:58Speaker 5: that they played.
- 0:59Speaker 6: So what seven, I had a party and final whistle,
- 1:03Speaker 6: I just took the balloon, I popped it and I
- 1:05Speaker 6: went to my room. The first five minutes talking about
- 1:08Speaker 6: it might be disappointing if the Patriots lose, and now
- 1:10Speaker 6: we're talking about two other teams that if they.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Lose, their coaches might get fired. Right, that's how stream
- 1:14Speaker 3: it is.
- 1:18Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:22Speaker 3: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:26Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:29Speaker 3: It is Thursday here at Gillette Stadium, and it's wild
- 1:34Speaker 3: Card week. As you know, we're getting ready for the
- 1:37Speaker 3: Los Angeles Chargers.
- 1:39Speaker 1: You know, are we ready? Is the hey in the
- 1:44Speaker 1: barn here at Patriots Unfiltered. Feel a little surreal this week?
- 1:47Speaker 6: I'd say it just doesn't I know, it just jump
- 1:50Speaker 6: right into it and it feels like you're.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Still on the treadmill, you know.
- 1:53Speaker 6: And that's what I keep doing, what you've been doing
- 1:56Speaker 6: the three weeks of show, the pregame, everything, And I
- 1:58Speaker 6: don't know, it's just it feels a little surreal right now,
- 2:01Speaker 6: and I don't think it's quite settled in.
- 2:02Speaker 1: There's going to be a giant game here on Sunday night.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and it is going to be giant. NBC bringing
- 2:08Speaker 3: a lot of people here. Yeah, yeah, they we're told
- 2:11Speaker 3: they're going to be bringing a very large footprint. Okay, cool,
- 2:14Speaker 3: so cool?
- 2:16Speaker 1: You like that.
- 2:17Speaker 5: I'm guessing he doesn't just like, just play the game.
- 2:24Speaker 1: You get one v cameras. Yeah, like, all right, play
- 2:28Speaker 1: the game.
- 2:28Speaker 5: As long as as long as we got the eye
- 2:30Speaker 5: in the sky.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I really think we all have the fun. Just use
- 2:33Speaker 1: your phone.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think if if Evan could just play this
- 2:36Speaker 3: out in like a computer, he'd rather do that.
- 2:40Speaker 5: I'd rather just play the game and not deal with
- 2:42Speaker 5: all the other nonsense.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's part of the fun. We're back in
- 2:45Speaker 3: the mix even like, you're too young. You weren't here
- 2:49Speaker 3: when we were in the middle of it. Every year,
- 2:52Speaker 3: like you're the team, you're not that conversations every year.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Everyone hates us because it was the Patriots. We're bat baby.
- 3:02Speaker 5: I literally was physically in New Orleans when they won
- 3:05Speaker 5: their first Super Bowl. But I'm too young.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I'm talking about working here. You're too young. You're you're
- 3:10Speaker 3: not a veteran here yet.
- 3:13Speaker 5: That's true. Neither is Deuce's second playoff right, third playoff game.
- 3:18Speaker 6: But like one playoff game, this is totally your fault.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Justin Herbert of p U.
- 3:24Speaker 6: That's like, is my job on the line on Sunday?
- 3:29Speaker 3: You're out? Could be I can't I can't get my
- 3:32Speaker 3: team to win a playoff game.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Come on, great regular season player, I don't want you
- 3:36Speaker 5: anywhere near them because the rest I.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Hope you were sick and tired of not winning a
- 3:40Speaker 3: playoff game as you are twelve and four seasons, right,
- 3:42Speaker 3: that's why, That's why, right?
- 3:45Speaker 1: Right? So all right, special?
- 3:49Speaker 3: So do we fail any different about you guys are
- 3:52Speaker 3: than we did on Tuesday?
- 3:54Speaker 4: You guys are making me feel better, you three and
- 3:57Speaker 4: you know, I got sort of bashed around a little
- 4:00Speaker 4: bit yesterday.
- 4:01Speaker 6: Like the Princess of positivity on the sports Hub wark.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I figure if those two guys you know, can be
- 4:07Speaker 4: like this and maybe I'm maybe I'm worrying a little
- 4:10Speaker 4: bit too much about some of the.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Things, but they're doing it as it work like they're the.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Patriots, them out of it, you guys, right, making me
- 4:19Speaker 4: feel better?
- 4:19Speaker 3: What a failure?
- 4:20Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I would say a little bit of injury
- 4:22Speaker 6: news just from yesterday with the reports and Kiris Toga
- 4:26Speaker 6: being the one who do didn't come back, so that
- 4:28Speaker 6: is something to monitor. But Omari and Hampton did not practice. Uh,
- 4:32Speaker 6: there were a couple other guys, but they were rest
- 4:34Speaker 6: I know Khalil Mack was among them. Illnesses illnesses and
- 4:38Speaker 6: the illnesses were the rest for the Patriots. But I
- 4:40Speaker 6: think those are two significant ones just for the Patriots.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Tonga.
- 4:43Speaker 6: I mean they're kind of related, right, It's like Tonga
- 4:45Speaker 6: the run stopper on one side and the running back
- 4:47Speaker 6: on the other. With Hampton, so we'll see, I mean,
- 4:50Speaker 6: he's a he's a good player.
- 4:51Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 4:51Speaker 6: I kind of watch marilinear and I really thought he
- 4:55Speaker 6: was really good. And then as I watched more and
- 4:57Speaker 6: towards the end of the season, I'm like, he's okay.
- 4:58Speaker 6: And I don't know how you guys felt the at them,
- 5:00Speaker 6: but I like him.
- 5:01Speaker 3: He's okay.
- 5:01Speaker 4: He missed the big chunk in the middle of the season.
- 5:03Speaker 4: That's hard for a rookie. But I came to the
- 5:06Speaker 4: conclusion that maybe that I'm so impressed with some of
- 5:09Speaker 4: the numbers that the Chargers defense has and I'm not
- 5:13Speaker 4: taking consideration the amount of time the charges offense holds
- 5:15Speaker 4: the ball. I sort of tucked myself into this during
- 5:19Speaker 4: my hour yesterday on Sunshine dot Com. I wonder if
- 5:22Speaker 4: maybe I'm overrating the Chargers defense a little bit because
- 5:27Speaker 4: I think the charges were second in the league or
- 5:29Speaker 4: some places they have first in the league.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I don't know how that.
- 5:31Speaker 6: I don't know how that's changes time for drive.
- 5:37Speaker 5: You and we had a very lengthy conversation about this yesterday,
- 5:41Speaker 5: to the point where I think I'm just gonna ask,
- 5:44Speaker 5: because there are number two in time of possession everywhere,
- 5:47Speaker 5: and then Rabel keeps on referencing that they're number one
- 5:50Speaker 5: in some metric. So does like Stretch have like a
- 5:53Speaker 5: secret like time of possession metric that they use, or like,
- 5:57Speaker 5: what's going on?
- 5:57Speaker 6: Did time per drive maybe? Like, No, they're not number
- 6:00Speaker 6: two in that one too. I mean, it's probably close, right, it's.
- 6:03Speaker 5: About thirty seconds difference between them and Buffalo, and.
- 6:06Speaker 4: I wonder if that protects the defense. It makes me
- 6:08Speaker 4: want to go back and the defense's numbers a little
- 6:10Speaker 4: bit better than they really are.
- 6:12Speaker 6: It makes me want to go back and look at
- 6:13Speaker 6: games where maybe time of possession was more even or
- 6:15Speaker 6: maybe even skew to the other team, and how did
- 6:17Speaker 6: the defense perform.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I think one of the underrated aspects of this game
- 6:22Speaker 3: that the Patriots need to get right in order to
- 6:25Speaker 3: win is communication on defense. And that's where I'm hoping
- 6:31Speaker 3: the return of Spelane will help because the way that
- 6:36Speaker 3: they keep the ball is you know, they it's nickel
- 6:39Speaker 3: and Dimia down the field. You know, right, they're not
- 6:42Speaker 3: hitting big play, they're not an explosive offense. They they're
- 6:45Speaker 3: just very efficient and they divert their downs. And I
- 6:49Speaker 3: think that middle of the field you need someone out
- 6:52Speaker 3: there that's keeping everybody on the same page, because they'll
- 6:56Speaker 3: put you in a blender.
- 6:57Speaker 1: They'll they'll mix around.
- 6:58Speaker 3: He'll he'll just right bit the ball to any one
- 7:01Speaker 3: of you know, his receivers. He doesn't force it to
- 7:03Speaker 3: any one guy. So you've got to be on your
- 7:06Speaker 3: on your toes.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I mean, I like it.
- 7:07Speaker 6: When was the last time this defense as it will
- 7:10Speaker 6: be constituted on Sunday night, all play together. I mean,
- 7:12Speaker 6: you've got to go back before the bye. So I
- 7:14Speaker 6: agree with your point. And the question for me is
- 7:17Speaker 6: does it just resume and we pick it right up
- 7:19Speaker 6: and and everybody's on the same page and the rush
- 7:21Speaker 6: is coordinated, and you know, Evan and I shot our
- 7:24Speaker 6: preview and trying to challenge these backup offensive linemen for
- 7:27Speaker 6: the Chargers. You want to you know, run stunts. But
- 7:29Speaker 6: we've also seen times recently miscommunications, guys don't get the call,
- 7:34Speaker 6: you blow a corner, you know, you blow the edge,
- 7:36Speaker 6: and Josh Allen steps out and converts a big touchdown
- 7:39Speaker 6: you know, in long yardage. So yeah, I think it's
- 7:42Speaker 6: it's really interesting just and it goes back to the
- 7:44Speaker 6: main point for me of just what do they look
- 7:46Speaker 6: like these new guys coming right back in after a
- 7:48Speaker 6: few weeks off.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Are they rusty? Are they ready to go? Yeah?
- 7:50Speaker 3: I would think, you know, with Spalline being a veteran
- 7:52Speaker 3: and everything, I think he'll be ready. He seems you know,
- 7:55Speaker 3: it's like riding like him. He'll he'll get right back
- 7:58Speaker 3: up on it.
- 7:58Speaker 1: He will lead them.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you will lead, You will lead. Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 5: No, they they they it feels like they live in
- 8:05Speaker 5: like third and short and third and medium.
- 8:08Speaker 3: So I watched all of them.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Yeah, and it feels like that's what they live in
- 8:12Speaker 5: because like they on time, it's just they that's the
- 8:15Speaker 5: way that they kind of drive the ball is, you know,
- 8:17Speaker 5: it's first and ten becomes second and five, and second
- 8:21Speaker 5: and five becomes third and one and third and one
- 8:23Speaker 5: becomes a first down, and it's just over and over
- 8:25Speaker 5: and over again. And that's sort of the cycle that
- 8:28Speaker 5: you want to try to break. And I to me, though,
- 8:30Speaker 5: I think it it kind of starts on with the
- 8:32Speaker 5: Patriots offense. Like if the Patriots offense can put some
- 8:35Speaker 5: points on the board early and get the Chargers to
- 8:38Speaker 5: have to playoff schedule, that's when you start to you know,
- 8:44Speaker 5: kind of expose that offensive line to drop back passing
- 8:47Speaker 5: and the play action kind of goes away, and the
- 8:49Speaker 5: run game kind of goes away. And now you're in
- 8:51Speaker 5: the fourth quarter and Josh Justin Herbert's dropping back for
- 8:55Speaker 5: the forty fifth time in the game. Like, that's that's
- 8:58Speaker 5: where you want to get this Charger's team. You want
- 9:00Speaker 5: to make them play from behind. You don't want to
- 9:02Speaker 5: let them control the tempo of the game, because that's
- 9:06Speaker 5: they want to grind you out. They want to choke
- 9:08Speaker 5: you out and possess the ball and keep the score down.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Do you dare them to beat you lng and just
- 9:14Speaker 3: crash down and and and you know, cover everything short,
- 9:17Speaker 3: be aggressive, you know, because they're going to try to
- 9:20Speaker 3: get the ball out of Herbert's hand because they know
- 9:23Speaker 3: that their offensive line is a little weak.
- 9:26Speaker 6: So I like how you're thinking, men, it's definitely a
- 9:30Speaker 6: little risky, but you know Quinton Johnson, Yeah, that's the one.
- 9:33Speaker 1: That's the one you gotta watch out for him.
- 9:35Speaker 4: He might not catch it because he's he's a little
- 9:38Speaker 4: he's a little inconsistent. He's not quite a d Mitchell inconsistent.
- 9:41Speaker 4: He's a lot better than that. But he does have
- 9:44Speaker 4: some occasional drops. But he can get behind you. He
- 9:46Speaker 4: can run.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, Yeah, And.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Just to Evan's point about the you know the second
- 9:53Speaker 4: and five, third and one, the Chargers are really good
- 9:57Speaker 4: on third down.
- 9:58Speaker 1: They've attempted like fifty two.
- 10:00Speaker 4: More third downs in the Patriots, so they're comfortable going
- 10:05Speaker 4: three plays at a time to get a first down.
- 10:07Speaker 4: The Patriots have obviously been more explosive explosive with May's
- 10:10Speaker 4: downfield passing, they haven't needed as many.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Third downs number four in plays per drive.
- 10:15Speaker 1: So you're just they're holding the ball.
- 10:17Speaker 3: They're so on my long commute, as often I do,
- 10:20Speaker 3: I have time to muse.
- 10:22Speaker 1: And we thank you for your service.
- 10:24Speaker 3: And one of the things I was thinking about is
- 10:25Speaker 3: the chess game that this game will be. And you've
- 10:29Speaker 3: got Drake May who's never been in this position before,
- 10:31Speaker 3: never been in an NFL playoff game, and we've seen
- 10:34Speaker 3: at times during the season where early in games he's
- 10:36Speaker 3: maybe a little bit too much adrenaline, you.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Know, overthrowing.
- 10:40Speaker 3: So I'm I'm the Chargers defensive coordinator and I'm thinking
- 10:46Speaker 3: to myself, all right, how are the Patriots going to handle.
- 10:49Speaker 1: May in this game?
- 10:50Speaker 3: And will they say, Okay, we want to get him
- 10:53Speaker 3: comfortable early, so we're going to set him up with
- 10:55Speaker 3: some short passes, get some early successes.
- 10:58Speaker 1: To kind of you know, calm him down a little bit.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and if that's the case, they do what I
- 11:05Speaker 3: think the Patriots it might do is we're gonna crash down.
- 11:08Speaker 3: We're gonna take away those short throws. We're gonna you know,
- 11:11Speaker 3: have some incompletions early to maybe rattle his confidence. Then
- 11:15Speaker 3: I'm going to Josh McDaniels and I'm thinking to myself, Okay, yeah,
- 11:19Speaker 3: I'd like to do that.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'd like to set him up with early success.
- 11:21Speaker 3: But I know that we want to do that, so
- 11:24Speaker 3: let's take some early shots, you know, let's let you know.
- 11:27Speaker 1: So that's what I'm thinking.
- 11:28Speaker 8: This is exactly how you lose football games, because like
- 11:32Speaker 8: you can't like this is you gotta take what they
- 11:34Speaker 8: give you right, like if you start to get into
- 11:35Speaker 8: this pretzel of like, well, they think we're gonna do this,
- 11:38Speaker 8: and then we think we're gonna.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Do So how would you handle a first time quarterback
- 11:43Speaker 3: like Drake May has never been in a playoff game.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I get him outside the pocket, I try to move
- 11:47Speaker 5: the pocket first couple of throws, get him out on
- 11:50Speaker 5: the perimeter, let him use his legs a little bit.
- 11:54Speaker 5: I know that this is gonna sound weird, but like
- 11:55Speaker 5: maybe let him get hit and like just let him.
- 11:59Speaker 5: You got to get him in to the game, you know,
- 12:01Speaker 5: And I think that, uh that that's what I would
- 12:04Speaker 5: I would do is I would try to give him
- 12:06Speaker 5: some bunnies early on. You know, can you get him
- 12:08Speaker 5: on a boulet, get him outside the pocket, he dumps
- 12:11Speaker 5: it to Hunter Henry and the flat for you know,
- 12:13Speaker 5: positive yards and now you're rolling or he runs away
- 12:16Speaker 5: first play for him, that too, that that could work too.
- 12:20Speaker 5: I mean, there's there's definitely conversations about different quarterbacks and
- 12:24Speaker 5: how they handle that. You know that that amped up
- 12:27Speaker 5: energy early on, and a lot of them say that
- 12:30Speaker 5: getting hit or getting you know, your legs involved and
- 12:33Speaker 5: kind of getting moving is big, and I think that
- 12:36Speaker 5: we talked about it on the preview, like it, avoiding
- 12:39Speaker 5: three and out on the first drive feels like such
- 12:41Speaker 5: a big thing for this team because you want to
- 12:44Speaker 5: get him into a rhythm and get him calm down
- 12:47Speaker 5: and into the game. And I think that if the
- 12:49Speaker 5: Chargers defense, you know, they force a ton of three
- 12:51Speaker 5: and outs, and if you kind of get into a
- 12:54Speaker 5: game where they go three and out and the Chargers
- 12:56Speaker 5: go on one of these ten twelve play drives and
- 12:59Speaker 5: the whole first quarter is over and Drake Mays, you know,
- 13:02Speaker 5: is on the sideline the entire time, I think that's
- 13:04Speaker 5: what you really want to avoid.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I like the point though Fred and Evan. Evan brought
- 13:07Speaker 3: it up too.
- 13:08Speaker 6: It's just we've seen that, we seen Mey get a
- 13:09Speaker 6: little riled up, and as you said, first playoff game,
- 13:12Speaker 6: what's what's it going to look like trying to take steps.
- 13:14Speaker 6: I think it's a really good thing to keep in
- 13:16Speaker 6: mind as you go into the game.
- 13:17Speaker 4: I wouldn't mind taking a shot early though, I mean
- 13:20Speaker 4: not necessarily saying that, don't give him a bunny to get,
- 13:23Speaker 4: you know, on the very first player, but I mean
- 13:24Speaker 4: somewhere early on. Have him get the ball downfield, because
- 13:28Speaker 4: I find that he's more accurate when he does that,
- 13:31Speaker 4: and then I sort of think that opens things up,
- 13:34Speaker 4: you know, from there on, you know, like that thinking
- 13:36Speaker 4: like the Buffalo game, he takes a shot downfield to
- 13:38Speaker 4: Booty right away, you know, one of those not necessarily
- 13:42Speaker 4: saying the first pass or the first play, but somewhere
- 13:45Speaker 4: in the first quarter.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking about him, have him to air it out
- 13:48Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Did you guys read the thing he posted on players Tribute?
- 13:51Speaker 3: I did? That was something Yeah, yeah, I just it.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Was just talking about a gambling addiction really, you know,
- 14:00Speaker 6: when he was in college, and uh, you know, credit
- 14:02Speaker 6: to him for coming out and saying all those things.
- 14:04Speaker 6: I mean, I think it's it's really a big thing.
- 14:07Speaker 6: I read reading and I'm like, I got to talk
- 14:08Speaker 6: to my kids about this because I think it's becoming
- 14:10Speaker 6: a huge problem.
- 14:11Speaker 3: He made a good point, you know, like if you
- 14:13Speaker 3: go into these casinos, He's right, there's no windows, you know,
- 14:17Speaker 3: they the climate is made so that you're comfortable, right.
- 14:22Speaker 3: They don't want you to know what time it is.
- 14:24Speaker 3: There's no clocks on the wall, and He's and they
- 14:27Speaker 3: want you to get lost in your gambling, and he said,
- 14:29Speaker 3: the apps are kind of the same thing. You're in
- 14:31Speaker 3: your bed at night, lights off, the only thing on
- 14:34Speaker 3: is you and your phone, and you're kind of lost
- 14:36Speaker 3: in that app and that's all your when you know,
- 14:39Speaker 3: when you have a problem, that's all you're thinking about. Yeah,
- 14:43Speaker 3: and he's he said, it is what it is. You know,
- 14:45Speaker 3: it's it's really he's not making any excuses, but it's dangerous.
- 14:49Speaker 4: No.
- 14:49Speaker 6: He really appreciated the support from the organization after it
- 14:52Speaker 6: came out. I think it was what two years ago
- 14:54Speaker 6: when all the things he was doing in college. But
- 14:58Speaker 6: I also it changed the way I see his journey
- 15:01Speaker 6: a little bit. We've talked about how he's you know,
- 15:03Speaker 6: emerged from that guy he didn't really know where he
- 15:05Speaker 6: was going to be as a rookie and he didn't
- 15:07Speaker 6: get his feet and bounds all that stuff to the
- 15:08Speaker 6: emergence of what he's been this season, and this added
- 15:11Speaker 6: such depth to it to me of a guy who
- 15:14Speaker 6: not just getting his life in order on the field,
- 15:16Speaker 6: but off the field as well, and able to, you know,
- 15:19Speaker 6: kind of admit that he had a problem.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And in that first year here, he literally walked out
- 15:24Speaker 3: of his offensive meeting, got in his car and said,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I'm not playing anymore.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I'm done.
- 15:28Speaker 3: I'm not gonna play football anymore. And you know, they
- 15:32Speaker 3: they talked him back, thank goodness. But yeah, he was
- 15:35Speaker 3: on the edge of you know, never even playing hard
- 15:38Speaker 3: to play for Bill.
- 15:39Speaker 1: That was a part of it too.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that he did adjust to it.
- 15:42Speaker 6: But it sounds like he's in a pretty good place
- 15:44Speaker 6: right now with with how things are going.
- 15:45Speaker 3: So yeah, but I would suggest anyone go to Players
- 15:50Speaker 3: Tribune and look, you know, just search for Casehaan but
- 15:54Speaker 3: Booty and and read that. It was a really interesting read.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought him talking about his early days at
- 16:03Speaker 5: LSU and his journey was it kind of puts into
- 16:06Speaker 5: perspective like why he fell to the sixth round and
- 16:08Speaker 5: all that kind of stuff, because he was he was
- 16:10Speaker 5: the next guy at LSU early on the numbers three.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Was putting up in some of those games, and.
- 16:15Speaker 5: Just the recruit you know, all of it, Like he
- 16:17Speaker 5: was supposed to be the next Jamar Chase justin Jefferson
- 16:21Speaker 5: obj like he was supposed to be the next LSU
- 16:24Speaker 5: wide receiver and he looked like it as a freshman
- 16:27Speaker 5: and then he broke his ankle and then he had
- 16:29Speaker 5: these you know, off the field problems, and all of
- 16:31Speaker 5: a sudden, he goes from everybody thought he was going
- 16:33Speaker 5: to be a star and be a first round pick
- 16:36Speaker 5: and all that to a sixth round pick, and it
- 16:38Speaker 5: just it kind of tells you how far his journey
- 16:41Speaker 5: has come in there.
- 16:43Speaker 3: You know, he's one of the surprises this year. I
- 16:46Speaker 3: would say, yeah, it's interesting.
- 16:48Speaker 6: The other point I got from that and some other
- 16:51Speaker 6: stuff is just I think sports scambling, the proliferation of
- 16:54Speaker 6: it is changing the way people watch sports and roof
- 16:56Speaker 6: for sports, similar to the way that fantasy football did.
- 16:58Speaker 6: When you're kind of going away from allegiances to teams,
- 17:01Speaker 6: you're going towards players, and you know, now, it's it's
- 17:04Speaker 6: even different. You're looking at the odds, you're looking at bets,
- 17:07Speaker 6: you're looking at all these different like little micro data
- 17:11Speaker 6: points that you're rooting for now of like a guy
- 17:13Speaker 6: to have more than three receptions or that kind of thing.
- 17:15Speaker 3: So it's just, uh no, it's it's tough out there.
- 17:17Speaker 6: I'm kind of in a way, I'm glad that we
- 17:18Speaker 6: can't do it because I'm just not even tempted because
- 17:20Speaker 6: I know it would be easy just to you know,
- 17:23Speaker 6: I'm watching a random Bruins game on a Friday night
- 17:25Speaker 6: with nothing to do, and hey, let's put a couple
- 17:26Speaker 6: of butts on it.
- 17:27Speaker 3: You know, might be tapping that app. And yeah I
- 17:29Speaker 3: didn't work for a team.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 6: You do wonder like with this stuff, like with these
- 17:34Speaker 6: new like polymarket and stuff like those betting apps that
- 17:37Speaker 6: where you can bet on like normal things.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Like I was.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Thinking, like does that affect us too? Like those are
- 17:42Speaker 6: you know those are like bet on with the weather.
- 17:44Speaker 6: It's really stuff like that, and.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Those things are those things are a problem. Like this
- 17:50Speaker 5: is a totally different conversation, but.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Take your money.
- 17:53Speaker 5: Those things need to be regulated.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Lookod for booty.
- 17:58Speaker 3: People just need to be careful.
- 17:59Speaker 1: You know.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Play market is in those are bad news. Like if
- 18:04Speaker 5: you read some of the stuff about it, it's bad.
- 18:06Speaker 3: There's just some people that are more susceptible to that
- 18:09Speaker 3: than others.
- 18:10Speaker 1: You know, I mean, it's just no question.
- 18:13Speaker 3: But if you have a compulsive personality or whatever it is,
- 18:16Speaker 3: we're going to fall into that track.
- 18:18Speaker 1: And that was good.
- 18:19Speaker 4: And I have a million friends growing up, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 4: like I and I know it's easier now and Mike
- 18:25Speaker 4: is right. There's more uh more options in turns, you know,
- 18:29Speaker 4: player prop bets and all that kind of stuff. But
- 18:32Speaker 4: I could give you at least a couple of dozen
- 18:36Speaker 4: kids in the eighties that had real, real serious albums.
- 18:41Speaker 4: It's an addiction. It's just like alcoholism or you know,
- 18:44Speaker 4: any any kind of drug abuse. It's a compulsive uh,
- 18:47Speaker 4: you know behavior, and it's it's absolutely an addictive personality
- 18:52Speaker 4: trait that you know, I guess anybody could have.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Kid from bu who the book he took his car.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they took his car.
- 19:03Speaker 4: I had a kid that I played, I played baseball
- 19:05Speaker 4: with in high school that literally every Friday they would
- 19:10Speaker 4: come to his house. They would come to his work,
- 19:13Speaker 4: get his check, go to the bank, give him twenty bucks,
- 19:16Speaker 4: and they take the rest until he was paid up.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Wow. And that went on for a long time.
- 19:23Speaker 4: And this is like a young adult who was living
- 19:26Speaker 4: off of twenty dollars a week because the bookie was
- 19:29Speaker 4: taking the rest.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And what are you going to do? Go to the
- 19:32Speaker 1: cops right right now?
- 19:35Speaker 3: Yeah, so that on the Patriots. Just thought I'd bring
- 19:39Speaker 3: that up because I like the Patriots. Booty's name got mentioned,
- 19:43Speaker 3: and our picks are for entertainment purposes only, right.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yeah, especially on this show.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, And he's an X factor in this game.
- 19:52Speaker 5: We want to talk and get it back to football
- 19:54Speaker 5: and not talk about gambling.
- 19:55Speaker 9: A d well.
- 19:56Speaker 6: I keep thinking of you keep talking about all the
- 19:58Speaker 6: quarter stuff, and then the whole big buzzword quarters this
- 20:00Speaker 6: year was you know, you throw deep on the quarters, right.
- 20:03Speaker 5: So yeah, and Ben Kyle Williams on the outside, I
- 20:05Speaker 5: think is a big part of this game. I think
- 20:07Speaker 5: those two guys are gonna have opportunities one on one
- 20:09Speaker 5: coverage down the field and you know, against Saint Juice
- 20:13Speaker 5: or Cam Hard or Dante Jackson, and if they can
- 20:15Speaker 5: win those matchups, even it doesn't have to be when
- 20:18Speaker 5: you're catching sixty yard bombs. You don't have to win
- 20:20Speaker 5: ten of them. You just have to win one or two,
- 20:21Speaker 5: and that can really tilt the game. So I'm I'm
- 20:25Speaker 5: sure when Drake Maycy's quarters backside, he's throwing that thing
- 20:28Speaker 5: over the top. I can tell you that.
- 20:29Speaker 3: When Big Head Andy Hart was on the show, we
- 20:31Speaker 3: used to talk about games declaring themselves, you know, after
- 20:34Speaker 3: the first quarter or whatever. But I found this year
- 20:37Speaker 3: with Patriots games, games haven't really been declaring themselves always
- 20:41Speaker 3: like there's been roller coasters and been shifts and things change.
- 20:46Speaker 3: But do you think this game will declare itself early?
- 20:50Speaker 6: That's I don't want to think about that for a
- 20:52Speaker 6: second because I think, to Avan's point, what's in my
- 20:54Speaker 6: head is that this I hope it doesn't, I think
- 20:57Speaker 6: because I think sometimes the Patriots need a little bit
- 20:59Speaker 6: of a a.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Runway to get get warmed up a little bit.
- 21:02Speaker 6: I don't know, and this is just all kind of
- 21:04Speaker 6: based on my foggy memories of each of these games.
- 21:06Speaker 6: But you know, Evans thing with a team that wants
- 21:08Speaker 6: to possess the ball, and you know, I can handle
- 21:11Speaker 6: it if the Patriots defense goes three and out but
- 21:12Speaker 6: then they force a punt, but you know it just
- 21:15Speaker 6: you cannot let the game declare itself that the Chargers
- 21:18Speaker 6: are going to have no problem executing ten twelve play drives?
- 21:21Speaker 3: Will Will there be a first drive touchdown by the Chargers?
- 21:24Speaker 1: You think, No, No, I don't.
- 21:27Speaker 5: I'm kind of with Paul, But maybe that's just because
- 21:30Speaker 5: I don't really respect grog Rom and all that much.
- 21:32Speaker 5: But I think that you know, it's it's one of
- 21:36Speaker 5: those games. You know, I've seen you know, the Chargers
- 21:39Speaker 5: all in play all their big games, you know, down
- 21:41Speaker 5: the stretch here at this point, and they they tend
- 21:45Speaker 5: to flip a switch at some point in the in
- 21:46Speaker 5: the middle of the game defensively and they start to
- 21:49Speaker 5: ratchet up the heat on the quarterback. And that's I think,
- 21:52Speaker 5: what's really I'm waiting for. Like I think early on
- 21:55Speaker 5: they kind of do you know what Fred's talking about,
- 21:58Speaker 5: They kind of just let the opponent get out of
- 22:01Speaker 5: their script and get it out of their system. And
- 22:03Speaker 5: then they you know, started to start to get a
- 22:06Speaker 5: little bit more aggressive as the game wears on and
- 22:08Speaker 5: almost kind of like lull you into that where you
- 22:11Speaker 5: know where now all of a sudden, like oh, you know,
- 22:13Speaker 5: the whole thing changed, and now they're just sending a
- 22:16Speaker 5: lot of pressure at the quarterback. So that that's I
- 22:19Speaker 5: think what you know, talking to some of the players yesterday,
- 22:22Speaker 5: you know, Digs and some of the receivers, you know,
- 22:24Speaker 5: that's what they're kind of expecting is that the Chargers
- 22:27Speaker 5: are going to kind of come out in this game
- 22:29Speaker 5: and soft zone and you know, kind of let the
- 22:31Speaker 5: Patriots you know, get their their scripted plays out of
- 22:35Speaker 5: their system and then Jesse Mint's like real game plan
- 22:38Speaker 5: will start like somewhere around halftime, and that's when what
- 22:42Speaker 5: they're going to have to be really ready for.
- 22:44Speaker 6: What's like, what do you think takes the Chargers out
- 22:46Speaker 6: of what they want to do? More like throwing deep
- 22:48Speaker 6: an effective run game? You know, how do you how
- 22:50Speaker 6: do you get them out of what they want to do?
- 22:53Speaker 3: I think you got to play it like I got
- 22:55Speaker 3: a lead.
- 22:55Speaker 5: I think getting well offensively, but defensively, you know, they
- 23:01Speaker 5: aren't really built. I don't think to play a ton
- 23:03Speaker 5: of man coverage like I don't think they have the
- 23:05Speaker 5: personnel to morph into like a man coverage defense. So
- 23:09Speaker 5: if the Patriots are scheming open receivers in their zones
- 23:12Speaker 5: and you know, Josh McDaniel's in his bag and he's
- 23:14Speaker 5: finding ways to get guys open, you know what they
- 23:17Speaker 5: what do they do?
- 23:18Speaker 10: Now?
- 23:18Speaker 5: Historically it's pressure, Like they just start bringing pressure and
- 23:21Speaker 5: try to heat the quarterback up. But you know, Drake
- 23:24Speaker 5: May has been great against the Blitz this year and
- 23:27Speaker 5: the Patriots have had answers most for the most part
- 23:29Speaker 5: against that. So can you get them, you know, to
- 23:32Speaker 5: have to play a little bit more man to man
- 23:34Speaker 5: then maybe they want to. I don't. I don't. Again,
- 23:36Speaker 5: I don't know if they're really built for that. You know,
- 23:38Speaker 5: they're they're more built as a zone defense.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Well on their offensive side. For the Charges, a guy
- 23:43Speaker 3: named Bill Belichick was on the Let's Go podcast he's
- 23:47Speaker 3: back on now that this season's over, and he was
- 23:50Speaker 3: talking about all the matchups and of this one, he
- 23:53Speaker 3: said that, you know, the Charges aren't built as a
- 23:55Speaker 3: team to come from behind like that, that they're.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Not good at that.
- 23:59Speaker 3: So almost like someone says, yeah, so if you can,
- 24:02Speaker 3: you know, if you get the lead on them and
- 24:03Speaker 3: start they become one dimensional, they're kind of cooked.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they're cooked.
- 24:07Speaker 4: I was impressed with that, I really was. I was
- 24:11Speaker 4: impressed with that. Seven seven subs on the offensive line.
- 24:16Speaker 4: They don't want to throw it forty five times. Well,
- 24:19Speaker 4: that's interesting. You know, there's an embarrassment. He talked about
- 24:23Speaker 4: every He talked about every playoff game, talked about every
- 24:26Speaker 4: playoff team except for one.
- 24:27Speaker 11: I know.
- 24:28Speaker 4: I was an embarrassment again that part of him. Two
- 24:31Speaker 4: in two full years of embarrassments. He added another one
- 24:35Speaker 4: to the mix, that part of it with an analysis
- 24:37Speaker 4: that Beth Perlo could have easily provided yes, yes.
- 24:40Speaker 3: The tackles are out of it.
- 24:42Speaker 4: On the offensive line. You don't want to have Justin
- 24:45Speaker 4: Herbert dropping back forty five times. They're not built for that. Thanks,
- 24:49Speaker 4: thanks for playing. Not one mention of Drake May the
- 24:52Speaker 4: MVP of the league. Not one mentioned that he's stunk.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Not one mention. No, that was that was kind of weird.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I agreed that part of it was.
- 25:01Speaker 4: I know it's weird me playing the role of wall defender,
- 25:03Speaker 4: but that was an embarrassment.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that rual was is he gonna get any interviews
- 25:07Speaker 1: this cycle? We think, I don't know.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Some smoke earlier.
- 25:10Speaker 6: I think, like in December, we had some reports that
- 25:12Speaker 6: there are teams interested.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Well, now's the time when you actually see that.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I don't know if I.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Guess, I'm just confused as to like where I what
- 25:20Speaker 5: is the smoke? Like, he has a job. He's coaching
- 25:24Speaker 5: North Carolina. So unless he makes it clear that he
- 25:27Speaker 5: wants out of North Carolina and he wants.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Back and someone wanted him, they would contact him and
- 25:31Speaker 4: then he would say, well, no, I have a job,
- 25:33Speaker 4: or oh yeah, I'm interested in talking about that. I
- 25:36Speaker 4: just come back to the same thing for two full
- 25:39Speaker 4: years anybody could have hired him, anybody that no one
- 25:42Speaker 4: wanted him, one team talked to him, and in the
- 25:45Speaker 4: two years that have transpired, there's been nothing but one
- 25:48Speaker 4: misstep after the next, and now everybody's gonna want him.
- 25:51Speaker 4: I never say never, because I think some of these
- 25:53Speaker 4: owners in these leagues, all leagues, not just the NFL,
- 25:56Speaker 4: make really curious decisions. Who could not across sports as
- 26:00Speaker 4: felgrinam As always say, but how could you ever predict
- 26:04Speaker 4: a guy who is a fairly accomplished NBA player like
- 26:07Speaker 4: Trey Young wants to go to the Washington Wizards, one
- 26:11Speaker 4: of the worst teams in the NBA. I have no
- 26:14Speaker 4: accounting for these decisions that guys can make. Sometimes someone
- 26:17Speaker 4: might might say that Bill's the guy, but he's done
- 26:20Speaker 4: nothing but hurt his coaching legacy, not just off field.
- 26:25Speaker 4: I'm not talking about the clown show off the field.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I'm talking about his coaching. No one wanted him for
- 26:30Speaker 4: two years and he's done nothing really to change anybody's
- 26:34Speaker 4: mind to make them know, jeez, I wish we had
- 26:35Speaker 4: done that instead of what we did.
- 26:37Speaker 5: That's sort of my what my point was was, just
- 26:39Speaker 5: like what has changed about the situation that now, all
- 26:43Speaker 5: of a sudden, somebody is going to be super.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Since makes the heart grow fonder absence of what In
- 26:47Speaker 3: this case, he's not absent.
- 26:48Speaker 4: He's in the news every other day.
- 26:51Speaker 3: He's on the Let's Go podcasts.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Talking about you know, anybody but the MVP Hi Alex.
- 27:02Speaker 5: He wanted to go to Washington after he found out
- 27:04Speaker 5: he had no other options. Okay, yeah, Trey Young was like,
- 27:08Speaker 5: I actually want to go to and then like nobody
- 27:13Speaker 5: wanted him, and so then he was like, I'll go
- 27:15Speaker 5: to the Wizards.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Like I thought.
- 27:16Speaker 4: He wanted to go to Washington. That was the mark
- 27:18Speaker 4: Stein report I saw yesterday.
- 27:20Speaker 5: You know, we got some casual people in this market
- 27:22Speaker 5: with the NBA.
- 27:23Speaker 4: I am casual, but I was reading mark Stein. I
- 27:25Speaker 4: thought he was an insider.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Well, since we're talking about things not patriot, we might
- 27:30Speaker 3: as well mention that Mike McDaniel can from the Dolans.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Eight now right, yeah, eight openings.
- 27:37Speaker 1: That's pretty wild.
- 27:39Speaker 12: It is a notable one.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean do you think.
- 27:42Speaker 3: That, like, like I know it it seems self centered,
- 27:47Speaker 3: but do you think that the success that these first
- 27:50Speaker 3: time head coaches are having Liam Cohen, Ben Johnson Mike
- 27:54Speaker 3: Vrabel are getting more teams even more impatient.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 27:59Speaker 4: I think there's eight every year really on average, this
- 28:01Speaker 4: eight every year. I also don't think you last three
- 28:05Speaker 4: years and on the fourth year if you if you're
- 28:07Speaker 4: not the guy, you're gone.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 5: I also think in this one, like Harboss Stefanski, like McDaniel,
- 28:13Speaker 5: like those guys have been in their jobs for a
- 28:15Speaker 5: little while.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Yeah, they're not. They're not getting let go because Liam
- 28:19Speaker 4: Cohen had a good first it wasn't a one and
- 28:21Speaker 4: done in situation.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Don't think that puts pressure on them to like, we
- 28:24Speaker 3: got to do something. We can't stick with this guy,
- 28:28Speaker 3: We've got to get somebody new.
- 28:29Speaker 5: I mean, Dabele was that with the Giants for what
- 28:32Speaker 5: three years? Right, Like, it's not like these guys were
- 28:34Speaker 5: all his fourth year.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Yeah, then they're not Like to me, that would be
- 28:39Speaker 4: Aaron Glenn if he gets let go, well you had
- 28:43Speaker 4: a year, Well Liam Coman Cohen only had a year.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Why can't you do what he did? You got to
- 28:47Speaker 4: go right, you know. But this is like, I mean,
- 28:49Speaker 4: forget Hardball because obviously that's an anomaly. But McDaniel, Dabele,
- 28:56Speaker 4: Stefanski all been there four four years, five you know
- 29:00Speaker 4: Stefanski longer.
- 29:01Speaker 5: Yeah, Morris got multiple years and.
- 29:04Speaker 4: He got two years, right, so he would be closer
- 29:07Speaker 4: to what you were talking about.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Fred.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Maybe they're the ones that regret Belichick. Maybe they're going
- 29:11Speaker 4: to revisit imagine that's the only team, that's the only
- 29:14Speaker 4: team that talk.
- 29:16Speaker 12: About if they were like, you know what, just kidding.
- 29:18Speaker 4: There's your guy.
- 29:20Speaker 1: But see then now Belichick has all the leverage and
- 29:25Speaker 1: defensive coordinator. Yeah, exactly, have to throw them out.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that Bridges burned a little bit.
- 29:34Speaker 6: You think, Yeah, it's interesting though, who's going to end
- 29:37Speaker 6: up in Miami? And you know what that job now
- 29:39Speaker 6: entails when you look at what the Patriots and Bills
- 29:41Speaker 6: are doing, and it's.
- 29:42Speaker 5: Always an interesting job because they do have deep pockets
- 29:46Speaker 5: and well quarterback.
- 29:47Speaker 12: What do they do about the quarterback?
- 29:49Speaker 1: Yeah? Will he be their starting quarterback? I don't think so.
- 29:52Speaker 3: He will not. I think they'll figure out the money
- 29:54Speaker 3: and I think they'd rather go with yours over him.
- 29:56Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 29:57Speaker 3: I bet you to will land somewhere as like a
- 29:59Speaker 3: one B.
- 30:00Speaker 1: The situation.
- 30:00Speaker 6: Maybe like Daniel Jones is a free agent, right, so
- 30:04Speaker 6: maybe Indy resigns him and they get to and they I'm.
- 30:07Speaker 5: Not one of them done yet in Miami.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Yeah, because I'm pretty convinced that they just don't.
- 30:14Speaker 5: I mean, like maybe the relationship is burned and I
- 30:17Speaker 5: don't know, I do, I'm not there. I don't know.
- 30:19Speaker 5: But there's just not a lot of options. Like it's
- 30:22Speaker 5: not one of those years where there's like five quarterbacks
- 30:25Speaker 5: in the draft that you have Matt.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Jones, but I think that they've decided that he's not
- 30:30Speaker 4: their guy, like to your point, lost the locker room
- 30:35Speaker 4: and to your point, like half years, Yeah.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Which.
- 30:41Speaker 12: Quarterback is?
- 30:42Speaker 5: What is the unknown? But you know right now in
- 30:44Speaker 5: the draft it's Mendoza and that's it. Like everybody else
- 30:47Speaker 5: is kind of a project quarterback. And then you know,
- 30:50Speaker 5: I guess like they could trade for Lamar, but that's
- 30:52Speaker 5: like a real like you know.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Work everything.
- 30:56Speaker 4: This isn't a good quarterback class. I like Dante more
- 30:59Speaker 4: To and I a little bit less on ty Simpson,
- 31:03Speaker 4: but it's not a great class. But I would just
- 31:05Speaker 4: look at it as I don't want to anymore if
- 31:08Speaker 4: I'm Miami, and I think that that's what they've decided.
- 31:13Speaker 4: But to your point about the relationships. All the guys
- 31:15Speaker 4: that he had bad relationships with are now gone.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and I and I don't know that the staff.
- 31:19Speaker 4: And you know, the personnel department, so fans, but they
- 31:24Speaker 4: tend to swing big in Miami like they have you know,
- 31:27Speaker 4: the owners got deep pockets and it's you know, like
- 31:30Speaker 4: Lamar Jackson, it's an attractive place to play for a player.
- 31:33Speaker 1: So it's they brought an Aikman as a consultant.
- 31:37Speaker 3: One of his roles you think will be analyzing who
- 31:39Speaker 3: the next quarterback should be.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Sounds like he's in on the GM interviews. I don't know,
- 31:46Speaker 5: I don't know. I mean, like I said, it's hard,
- 31:48Speaker 5: it's it's not a it's not a great year to
- 31:50Speaker 5: need a quarterback. There isn't even really like that like
- 31:53Speaker 5: Sam Darnold, you know, thing to like that kind of guy. Like,
- 31:57Speaker 5: I don't know really where you turn unless Daniel Jones.
- 32:00Speaker 4: Maybe there's a couple of options, you know, and who knows,
- 32:04Speaker 4: like if they you know, can someone would someone take
- 32:06Speaker 4: a shot at Kyler Murray for a second go round?
- 32:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought of that one too.
- 32:10Speaker 4: You know, Daniel Jones. As you mentioned, the Cousins, Mac
- 32:15Speaker 4: saved the season but mac Jones might be. I mean,
- 32:20Speaker 4: he's under contract, you'd have to trade for him. But
- 32:22Speaker 4: he's a guy that could get a second act.
- 32:25Speaker 1: He doesn't inspire confidence.
- 32:27Speaker 5: But like he somehow kept at least wing to his upright,
- 32:31Speaker 5: Like he's been productive in one game.
- 32:34Speaker 4: I like, I like two of more than mac Jones too.
- 32:36Speaker 4: I just feel like Miami has decided done with.
- 32:39Speaker 3: What do you guys think?
- 32:40Speaker 6: Will show a lot of people talking Malik Willis and
- 32:43Speaker 6: Willis Milke Willis is gonna going to cash in.
- 32:46Speaker 4: That's another that's another one that could get a second act.
- 32:48Speaker 5: I think Milik Willis will get a chance to compete,
- 32:50Speaker 5: to be the starter somewhere, and you're not like gunning
- 32:53Speaker 5: him the job without any.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Practice, nced.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Well, the backup money has gone up a lot and.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Forty to fifty million over like the course of he.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Thinks Malik Willis is going to get forty or fifty
- 33:05Speaker 4: million over the course of multiple years. Yeah, I thought
- 33:09Speaker 4: you met like twelve years.
- 33:11Speaker 5: No, No, Like, I think that that's actually not totally
- 33:14Speaker 5: out of the realm of possibility over like a two
- 33:16Speaker 5: or three year contract. Oh okay, that's that's kind of
- 33:18Speaker 5: where that fringe starter.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Later that's just like forty to fifty million. That's like
- 33:24Speaker 4: kind of front end starter. No, no, it's not hotween.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Poorly and then clarified on.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Claric but yeah, if you're talking to or three year deal,
- 33:33Speaker 4: so you know, fifteen million a year.
- 33:36Speaker 6: Sentence if you start X amount of games and I
- 33:39Speaker 6: could see that.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, A five five past five hundred is
- 33:42Speaker 1: the hot line.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Let's get everyone involved because you know, we do have picks.
- 33:46Speaker 3: We have a lot to do today. Anything else going
- 33:48Speaker 3: on today that we need to talk about from Josh
- 33:52Speaker 3: and defensive coaches this afternoon. We'll get our second participation
- 33:56Speaker 3: report today, so that'll be interesting to see if the
- 33:59Speaker 3: guys that are sick or back.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I thought it was encouraging yesterday. I mean,
- 34:05Speaker 5: my obviously Tonga being out isn't ideal, but this isn't
- 34:08Speaker 5: really one of the games where I would anticipate, like
- 34:11Speaker 5: being a big Tonga game anyways, So I was pretty uh,
- 34:15Speaker 5: I mean, everybody's back explained talked yesterday, said that he
- 34:19Speaker 5: this was the target all along, was to be back
- 34:21Speaker 5: for the playoffs and he feels like he's ready to go.
- 34:23Speaker 5: And Lander is back out there. So the one interesting
- 34:26Speaker 5: thing I do think is, you know, what do you
- 34:28Speaker 5: do at left guard? And if Jared Wilson's cleared, Like,
- 34:31Speaker 5: do you put him back in or do you stick
- 34:33Speaker 5: with Ben Brown and kind of ride a hot hand
- 34:34Speaker 5: with Ben Brown a little bit? Who we talked to.
- 34:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll talk to yesterday that I'll probably be coming
- 34:38Speaker 6: up at the halftime.
- 34:40Speaker 3: So that that is something that that's coming up.
- 34:42Speaker 12: Are you worried about the flu?
- 34:46Speaker 5: If it was like Friday, then maybe people I don't know.
- 34:50Speaker 12: I heard it's hitting people really hard.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Well, we don't know for a fact that they have
- 34:53Speaker 5: the flu. We know that you're sick.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I was in CVS yesterday and this guy in front
- 34:57Speaker 3: of me, he's like, well geez talking to the lady
- 35:00Speaker 3: and he's like.
- 35:00Speaker 1: My wife got it and now I got it.
- 35:03Speaker 12: I can't even feel here up Patriot Place down where I.
- 35:06Speaker 4: Live here has a long community hours.
- 35:09Speaker 12: We all.
- 35:11Speaker 1: That's right, must be nice to pop home real quick, right,
- 35:14Speaker 1: Mike goes home to go to the bath. Literally, I.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Like, uh, DJ is in Arizona? What's up? DJ DJ?
- 35:26Speaker 1: Hey, mister DJ hey?
- 35:28Speaker 12: Some time they replay.
- 35:31Speaker 1: DJ Okay, we come on you know, I know it's
- 35:39Speaker 1: going to be ready Eldred in North Carolina.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Hey, all right, Yeah, yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 13: I didn't like you keep me on hold and then
- 35:52Speaker 13: they let me talk yesterday and that was kind of rude, bro,
- 35:55Speaker 13: But you know what we're paying. I'll forgive you for
- 35:57Speaker 13: that one.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Could I do?
- 35:58Speaker 4: But we ended the show when he was on the line.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Sometimes you run out of time.
- 36:06Speaker 13: Things didn't y'all. I'm gonna ask you all question because
- 36:09Speaker 13: everybody was talking the other day about if you lose,
- 36:12Speaker 13: how would you feel? But didn't y'all see the luting
- 36:15Speaker 13: them guys, Guy dig Homeward. I don't think they're gonna lose.
- 36:20Speaker 13: To be honest with you.
- 36:21Speaker 4: I don't think they are either.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we agree with him or whatever.
- 36:25Speaker 13: Yeah, but the way they're looking in acting, you know,
- 36:29Speaker 13: might be our year and if it does great with
- 36:32Speaker 13: you get Coach of the Year for Nick three years.
- 36:35Speaker 1: There you go.
- 36:36Speaker 13: But other than that, But other than that, that Cam
- 36:40Speaker 13: Newton thing. Did y'all see saying you shoot him down?
- 36:45Speaker 3: And I did?
- 36:46Speaker 5: Yeah, John with him?
- 36:49Speaker 3: Yeah, And Cam Newton's just he's just sensationalizing things. Now.
- 36:54Speaker 3: I can't believe he believes his own ass. Yeah, yeah enough.
- 37:00Speaker 13: Don't don't think it works. Me is the backfield and
- 37:06Speaker 13: the tide end and my boy Quentin jumps and getting
- 37:09Speaker 13: behind it and shots at me. Quentin jump.
- 37:16Speaker 4: I would take I would take my chances with Quintin Johnston. Absolutely.
- 37:19Speaker 4: I think he is. He's proven enough that he is
- 37:23Speaker 4: kind of he is what he is. He's a big
- 37:25Speaker 4: play threat.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I can't.
- 37:26Speaker 4: I don't think he'd be the centerpiece of your passing game.
- 37:28Speaker 4: If he is, you're going to be disappointed. But I
- 37:31Speaker 4: think he's made enough plays the last couple of years
- 37:33Speaker 4: to you know, he's he can be a good part
- 37:36Speaker 4: of a good offense. You know how, I bet you
- 37:38Speaker 4: would love to have him Josh Allen to on the
- 37:41Speaker 4: outside like that compliment that can threaten the defense.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean he's not. I don't think
- 37:47Speaker 5: he's been first round pick, but he's been probably not.
- 37:50Speaker 5: He's been above the line of bust for sure.
- 37:53Speaker 1: He's ad Mitchell.
- 37:56Speaker 4: He's no A d Mitchell.
- 37:58Speaker 5: He won He runs one rounte alt.
- 38:00Speaker 13: Do you want me to say he runs more than
- 38:03Speaker 13: one route?
- 38:03Speaker 3: But he doesn't.
- 38:04Speaker 5: He runs.
- 38:05Speaker 1: He runs across the field and he runs up the
- 38:08Speaker 1: deep crossed the one route, pony, I still.
- 38:15Speaker 13: Take a d Mitchell. If I was about them off season,
- 38:19Speaker 13: I give him a third.
- 38:21Speaker 5: Give him a third round packing the third okay, tick care,
- 38:25Speaker 5: I would like you loyal.
- 38:27Speaker 4: If I were the Jets, I'd give a third for
- 38:29Speaker 4: someone to take.
- 38:29Speaker 13: A better quarterback. We got a better quarterback.
- 38:32Speaker 5: Because he can teach him how to catch.
- 38:33Speaker 13: Can't use this speed. And then, like I said, he
- 38:36Speaker 13: used guns just to make the during catches three times,
- 38:40Speaker 13: you know, each.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Time, so like I said, and then he dropped it.
- 38:43Speaker 13: Take him in a heartbeat, yeah, I say he didn't
- 38:45Speaker 13: catch him.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of part of the jobs.
- 38:48Speaker 3: It's actually wide receiver, you know.
- 38:51Speaker 4: Once taught me I need my receivers to get open
- 38:54Speaker 4: and to receive.
- 38:56Speaker 13: But like I said, he just got them. You give
- 38:59Speaker 13: him off easily, Drake. I guarantee if you're done one
- 39:03Speaker 13: D three Okay.
- 39:04Speaker 10: Well, how to take the reservation? Yeah, get out of
- 39:10Speaker 10: Dugs machine, Maks Aldrid, work on those hands. How about
- 39:14Speaker 10: Ethan in Kentucky?
- 39:17Speaker 7: Hey?
- 39:18Speaker 9: What's up?
- 39:18Speaker 1: Hey?
- 39:19Speaker 13: Hey?
- 39:19Speaker 3: What Ethan?
- 39:20Speaker 1: Were you named after Ethan Allen? He's from Kentucky.
- 39:22Speaker 9: I think no I was named after Ethan h Okay,
- 39:30Speaker 9: Sunday night, first trip to July.
- 39:31Speaker 13: Pretty excited.
- 39:32Speaker 9: Just wanted to say that. And secondly, I've got caller
- 39:36Speaker 9: on collar Drome, like, if you're gonna call with what
- 39:40Speaker 9: the game plan? Which nobody wants to hear anyway, and
- 39:44Speaker 9: it's based off throwing screens while Darwin James was camped
- 39:47Speaker 9: out the box and anyway, we just don't need that.
- 39:51Speaker 13: That's not good. What's Evan's gonna do?
- 39:52Speaker 14: Run out for kickoff? Hey, stop the game.
- 39:54Speaker 7: I've got the player fan gave us.
- 39:56Speaker 15: It's gonna work, Like, come on to Christian give it man, dude.
- 40:01Speaker 15: You know, I feel like you think you're the villain
- 40:03Speaker 15: because people are jealous because you have money or whatever
- 40:06Speaker 15: it is you do and.
- 40:07Speaker 7: You live in California.
- 40:08Speaker 9: It's just because you're annoying man.
- 40:10Speaker 13: So that's it.
- 40:12Speaker 14: I mean, all right forward to the show.
- 40:14Speaker 9: But every week having to listen to something like that,
- 40:17Speaker 9: that's it, all right, Elder, keep it up, man, We
- 40:19Speaker 9: love it.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Thanks. Ethan Okay in Kentucky.
- 40:23Speaker 3: Uh DJ is back in Arizona's dj J hear me
- 40:28Speaker 3: there we go?
- 40:29Speaker 13: We can right Hey everyone, I'll tell it.
- 40:33Speaker 16: Well.
- 40:35Speaker 14: Yeah, so I just I was calling in because I
- 40:38Speaker 14: was just listening to our show when I'm on the
- 40:40Speaker 14: way to work.
- 40:41Speaker 17: So I like listening to it and stuff.
- 40:43Speaker 7: But man, sometimes some callers they'll call and like, I
- 40:48Speaker 7: don't know if they girlfriend don't listen to them why
- 40:50Speaker 7: for something?
- 40:52Speaker 17: Oh day, like please like say what you need to
- 40:56Speaker 17: say and then like hang up.
- 40:58Speaker 16: Like I love listening to y'all talking so and like
- 41:01Speaker 16: I love when.
- 41:02Speaker 17: Customers like do like dump the grump with Paul and
- 41:05Speaker 17: stuff like that.
- 41:05Speaker 2: But sometimes some people just going too long.
- 41:08Speaker 7: Like if you gotta say, brother, get your two cents
- 41:11Speaker 7: out and then call it a day.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Well yeah, I mean I got go past.
- 41:15Speaker 17: We're gonna win it all this year, and we just need.
- 41:18Speaker 13: You know the right path, and we got it.
- 41:20Speaker 1: We got it.
- 41:21Speaker 11: Take care, Thanks DJ, I thank.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I can't understand where DJ is coming from.
- 41:25Speaker 3: And like some shows, like Paul shows, you know, they
- 41:28Speaker 3: insist on their players, their callers to be concise because
- 41:33Speaker 3: they're up against breaks for thirty ten minutes. We don't
- 41:36Speaker 3: have to, so I let people go. It's we're not
- 41:38Speaker 3: in a rush, you know, but.
- 41:41Speaker 4: You had one yesterday.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Sometimes yeah, yeah, he kept going.
- 41:44Speaker 3: I was I had to cut him off, But I
- 41:47Speaker 3: get what the caller is saying, is like, you have
- 41:49Speaker 3: a point, make your point and hang up and listen. Agreed,
- 41:55Speaker 3: But sometimes you know, it's good to keep on so
- 41:58Speaker 3: that we can retort.
- 41:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I like the back and forth sometimes. So I
- 42:01Speaker 4: like when Aldred is that.
- 42:02Speaker 12: Call that's like first time, long time, I'll hang up.
- 42:05Speaker 3: That was one of the greatest calls.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I mean five seconds that was the greatest call.
- 42:11Speaker 6: I love when like gets pissed that guys are like, hey, guys,
- 42:14Speaker 6: how's it going?
- 42:15Speaker 3: No pleasure?
- 42:18Speaker 1: Or the phone is back and I get the phone. Friend,
- 42:21Speaker 1: come on.
- 42:22Speaker 3: They had somebody on yesterday. It was literally sounded like
- 42:25Speaker 3: he was talking into his pillow. It was like, all right,
- 42:28Speaker 3: come on.
- 42:29Speaker 18: Uh.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Kendalls in North Carolina, I hate Kendall.
- 42:32Speaker 7: Was going on. Yeah, I want to ask if we
- 42:36Speaker 7: win the pall Sunday night with all take the ball, you.
- 42:39Speaker 17: Know, trying to get the leads.
- 42:40Speaker 7: You don't have.
- 42:41Speaker 16: Bad opening defensive bend.
- 42:44Speaker 7: Yeah, you don't have to do the charges. Uh, you
- 42:48Speaker 7: don't get lead, you don't have to ball.
- 42:52Speaker 3: So if you win the toss, do you defer or
- 42:54Speaker 3: take the ball?
- 42:55Speaker 1: I still defer. I love to defer. I still defer
- 42:58Speaker 1: my big.
- 43:01Speaker 16: I want to ask about Leonard Taylor.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Leonard Taylor. Yeah, he's had any Taylor too.
- 43:10Speaker 5: I mean he's made the thanks of some limited snaps
- 43:13Speaker 5: in there, and you know, if Tong is not going
- 43:15Speaker 5: to be back, then I would assume that they could
- 43:18Speaker 5: elevate him again from the practice squad, and that resets
- 43:21Speaker 5: in the playoffs, so you you go back down to zero,
- 43:23Speaker 5: So they're gonna have the flexibility with him in farms again.
- 43:26Speaker 5: So yeah, I've been impressed by what I've seen. I mean,
- 43:29Speaker 5: it's not much in terms of, you know, snap count,
- 43:32Speaker 5: but he's made some plays. Okay, I think it was
- 43:35Speaker 5: a pretty high draft pick too, right, wasn't he Yeah?
- 43:38Speaker 6: Jets, Yeah, yeah, sounds good.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Oh geez more Drake may nicknames it's it's unbelievable, Parker
- 43:50Speaker 3: writes in The Patriots Being good again is hitting other
- 43:52Speaker 3: fan bases differently this time. For years, everyone could explain
- 43:57Speaker 3: away the dynasty as a fluke the greatest coach ever
- 43:59Speaker 3: paired with the greatest player ever. Once Brady left, the
- 44:02Speaker 3: story became this is what a rebuild looks like, and
- 44:05Speaker 3: rebuilds take forever. But New England turning it around this
- 44:09Speaker 3: fast breaks that illusion. It forces fans to confront something uncomfortable.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Long rebuilds aren't inevitable, and a decade of irrelevance isn't normal.
- 44:18Speaker 3: Seeing the Patriots rebound so quickly as people looking inward
- 44:22Speaker 3: at their organizations with.
- 44:23Speaker 1: More scrutiny and fewer excuses.
- 44:26Speaker 3: What once felt, what once felt explainable, no longer is.
- 44:31Speaker 3: The Patriots are back and it's breaking fan bases across
- 44:34Speaker 3: the league.
- 44:36Speaker 1: I think they do Sweethearts of the league right now.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I think it's the opposite.
- 44:41Speaker 4: It's like this kid is throwing the ball downfield, making
- 44:44Speaker 4: all these plays the MVP.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Everybody loves them.
- 44:46Speaker 12: Now we're a really likable team four or five years.
- 44:48Speaker 4: In a row. When you become Kansas City, where everybody
- 44:50Speaker 4: starts to root against you, that will happen.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Well, his point isn't that they're rooting against us, breaking
- 44:56Speaker 3: everyone's heart.
- 44:57Speaker 19: No, they're seeing how quickly we've reached. I don't think either.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I'm with you, Alex, but his point is like it's
- 45:07Speaker 3: making teams look inward at their team and like we
- 45:11Speaker 3: should be able to do this too.
- 45:13Speaker 19: I think you can't shut yourself out of the trench.
- 45:15Speaker 19: In five to seven years. How much of it is incompetence,
- 45:21Speaker 19: how much of it is bad decisions and bad drafting.
- 45:23Speaker 4: I'm with Alex.
- 45:26Speaker 5: You know, hit on the quarter They got really lucky
- 45:28Speaker 5: that they were at the third pick and a three
- 45:30Speaker 5: quarterback draft, And if you have the third pick this year,
- 45:33Speaker 5: there is no Drake May sitting on the board for you,
- 45:37Speaker 5: and I guess that.
- 45:37Speaker 4: But I'm talking about incompetence. I'm with Alex. Like to me,
- 45:41Speaker 4: is incompetence. There are a lot of teams that.
- 45:46Speaker 11: They have a.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Handful of down years and then they get okay again,
- 45:50Speaker 4: Like that can happen, Like, I don't think that you
- 45:53Speaker 4: should just when you lose a really good player or
- 45:57Speaker 4: if you're like at the top, like if if if
- 45:59Speaker 4: Mahomes we tires next year. I don't think that you
- 46:03Speaker 4: should be resigned for ten or twelve years of irrelevance
- 46:06Speaker 4: in Kansas City. You should be able to figure it
- 46:08Speaker 4: out in less than the Jets have done. Like the
- 46:11Speaker 4: Jets is uttering competence, Yeah, but there are other teams
- 46:14Speaker 4: that have been able to maintain a semblance of competitiveness.
- 46:17Speaker 4: The Jets the Chiefs are one of them.
- 46:18Speaker 2: The whole.
- 46:21Speaker 19: Ownership, I think well, and like just the structure of
- 46:24Speaker 19: the organization.
- 46:25Speaker 3: I always said, if you have a bad owner, it's
- 46:26Speaker 3: really tough. But the whole way the NFL is set
- 46:29Speaker 3: up is for bad teams to be able to get
- 46:32Speaker 3: good quicker.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and again there's a difference.
- 46:34Speaker 4: If Drake May turns out to be this every year
- 46:37Speaker 4: and the Patriots win, say three four titles over the
- 46:40Speaker 4: next eight years, Okay, that's different. That's dominance. That's that's rare.
- 46:45Speaker 4: To be that good, have five bad years and then
- 46:48Speaker 4: be that good again.
- 46:49Speaker 3: That's rare.
- 46:50Speaker 4: But I think being consistently competitive and good is not
- 46:53Speaker 4: that rare in the league. To your point, Fred, it's
- 46:56Speaker 4: kind of designed to be like that, right. You shouldn't
- 46:59Speaker 4: just them out and never be good again, like the Jets. Like,
- 47:03Speaker 4: that's that's hard to do.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Well, I would say.
- 47:07Speaker 3: The other thing I would say to Parker is like
- 47:09Speaker 3: the Commanders force other teams and fan bases to look inward.
- 47:14Speaker 6: Right now and now you know, and then this year
- 47:17Speaker 6: they take a step back. And that's to me, it's look,
- 47:19Speaker 6: this season has been awesome, and but it's it's going
- 47:21Speaker 6: to continue to get harder, and I just I'm not
- 47:24Speaker 6: going to live in a place where we have another
- 47:26Speaker 6: dynasty in our hands.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Now, like you know, point like let's be a.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Submission as a possibility with how good Drake mays it.
- 47:31Speaker 6: But I'm not assuming it, you know, I'm just going
- 47:33Speaker 6: to say, let's finish strong this year in the playoffs,
- 47:36Speaker 6: and let's build next year and continue to get better
- 47:38Speaker 6: next year, you know, to deal with as the schedule
- 47:41Speaker 6: gets tougher, the.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Other teams are now gunning for you.
- 47:44Speaker 6: You know, it's I mean, you're going to hire a
- 47:45Speaker 6: Miami coach and a big part of that interview is
- 47:47Speaker 6: going to be, so Josh Allen Drake May, what are
- 47:49Speaker 6: we going to do?
- 47:50Speaker 3: You know, that's got to be part of that conference.
- 47:52Speaker 3: I want to get back to that where our team
- 47:54Speaker 3: is forcing other teams in our division to make bad decisions.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I want to get back to that.
- 47:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I would. I'm with Deuce on this.
- 48:01Speaker 8: I feel like that happened.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I do think it happened.
- 48:08Speaker 5: Six opponent slate. I just keep looking at that and
- 48:13Speaker 5: then like, like that's gonna especially the road games, is
- 48:17Speaker 5: gonna be trying to live in the moment, Kansas City
- 48:20Speaker 5: a gauntlet and not to like not live in the moment,
- 48:23Speaker 5: But I.
- 48:23Speaker 4: Just fred I'm gonna put They'll be fine.
- 48:26Speaker 5: But just to sit here and think that that now
- 48:28Speaker 5: they're going to just be fourteen and three every year, like.
- 48:31Speaker 4: Maybe not fourteen next year.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Schedule when you go to Detroit and when you go
- 48:36Speaker 5: to Chicago and you go to Seattle, like it's gonna
- 48:39Speaker 5: be a lot harder. It's gonna be a lot harder
- 48:41Speaker 5: next year.
- 48:42Speaker 12: You never know what happened. So like, look at this year.
- 48:43Speaker 19: We look at that that stretch of the raven Cincy
- 48:46Speaker 19: and it was different, much different.
- 48:48Speaker 5: Well, I think it's gonna be harder because I think
- 48:50Speaker 5: like Detroit will be back, like Detroit is gonna be
- 48:52Speaker 5: good in the city.
- 48:53Speaker 12: Will at that You just never know.
- 48:55Speaker 3: I really never know Detroit was this year.
- 48:58Speaker 12: You can guess.
- 48:59Speaker 4: But I feel pretty comfortable thinking they're going to play
- 49:02Speaker 4: more than three teams that finish over five hundred next
- 49:04Speaker 4: year every year.
- 49:05Speaker 3: My whole thing about you can't judge a schedule until
- 49:08Speaker 3: after the season comes true.
- 49:09Speaker 4: You are once again Freddie Fields, Todd and Rochester.
- 49:15Speaker 3: You've been talking about what worries fans about Sunday's game.
- 49:19Speaker 3: For me, it would be going three and out on
- 49:21Speaker 3: the first series, and then the defense gives up a
- 49:23Speaker 3: touchdown on the charges first drive, which has been typical
- 49:26Speaker 3: this season when you're playing catch up ball game, and
- 49:30Speaker 3: as Paul suggested, at some point during one of the
- 49:33Speaker 3: few of these games, the rest will make some stupid
- 49:35Speaker 3: questionable call.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Ron tarbor No, So I would just say, like, I
- 49:41Speaker 4: wouldn't want to play from behind. They haven't done that
- 49:44Speaker 4: a lot this year, and I wouldn't want to have
- 49:48Speaker 4: to play a playoff game, even at home against a
- 49:50Speaker 4: team that you think you should beat. I wouldn't want
- 49:52Speaker 4: to have to play from behind all day. No, But
- 49:55Speaker 4: it's so easy to start. I can live with the start.
- 49:57Speaker 4: I don't want this start. Yeah, it's easy to see
- 49:59Speaker 4: that they've done that a number of times, as the
- 50:01Speaker 4: emailer said, but that's different. You know, like falling behind
- 50:05Speaker 4: seven to nothing after each team has had the ball
- 50:07Speaker 4: is not necessarily, you know, a huge concern. But you know,
- 50:13Speaker 4: going at half down seventeen to seven or something like that,
- 50:17Speaker 4: I wouldn't feel great. Not that I'm saying they couldn't
- 50:19Speaker 4: come back, but I wouldn't feel great about having to
- 50:21Speaker 4: play catch up the whole game.
- 50:22Speaker 6: It's kind of the defer thing too with having your
- 50:24Speaker 6: home crowd for a home playoff game.
- 50:26Speaker 3: They should be loud, like right out of the gate.
- 50:29Speaker 6: They're going to be looped up, hopefully, and hopefully that's
- 50:32Speaker 6: a challenge, you know, for Herbert and the offense to
- 50:34Speaker 6: not streight together a ten twelve play drive up up
- 50:37Speaker 6: right down the field and all right, seven nothing Drake,
- 50:39Speaker 6: good luck.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Andrew and north Reading.
- 50:41Speaker 3: I was at the game on Sunday, sitting in section
- 50:43Speaker 3: one oh five, and right after the game, I saw
- 50:46Speaker 3: a woman walk out of the tunnel sporting the best
- 50:48Speaker 3: fit of the day, a maroon coat with a very
- 50:51Speaker 3: chic pair of black boots. Did a double take, and
- 50:53Speaker 3: it was none other than Peugh's own Alexandra Francisco.
- 51:00Speaker 4: As soon as you heard maroon, he's talking about me.
- 51:07Speaker 12: I've had some great offenses that.
- 51:10Speaker 1: I was slaying it.
- 51:12Speaker 3: What do you want me to do?
- 51:13Speaker 12: I mean, was a moment.
- 51:16Speaker 5: Sure, we talk about the fact that you said that
- 51:19Speaker 5: you need to stop buying new outfits for game.
- 51:21Speaker 19: Data the other day because January no retail in jail.
- 51:27Speaker 3: They have they have things where you can like rent
- 51:29Speaker 3: clothes they do.
- 51:31Speaker 19: That would be just as much of an issue for
- 51:34Speaker 19: me okay, because I would like the clothes and I
- 51:36Speaker 19: was returning this, I'm going to buy it.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Okay, that would be me.
- 51:41Speaker 3: By Joseph Ka claims he's the biggest Patriots fan in Hillsboro, Oregon.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Okay, so who's going to argue with that?
- 51:48Speaker 3: Being from Oregon and having followed Herbert his entire college career,
- 51:51Speaker 3: it seems like he usually comes up short in the
- 51:53Speaker 3: biggest games and moments. It's not always a three pick
- 51:56Speaker 3: performance like it was in the playoffs from last year.
- 51:59Speaker 3: But for whatever reason, and despite all of his talent,
- 52:02Speaker 3: it seems like he struggles to win big games. Good
- 52:04Speaker 3: good punctuation. Too good for you, Joseph, Do you think
- 52:08Speaker 3: this is well.
- 52:09Speaker 4: It was well punctuated.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Do you think this is more of an unlucky thing
- 52:17Speaker 3: or do you think Herbert lacks that killer clutch factor?
- 52:19Speaker 3: How do you think this plays into our game?
- 52:22Speaker 5: Well, the issue is is that your quarterback has the
- 52:24Speaker 5: same reputation.
- 52:25Speaker 3: So something's got to give.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and to me, see, I.
- 52:28Speaker 5: Mean this is both these guys I feel like are
- 52:31Speaker 5: exercising that demon. You know, Jake May has had that
- 52:34Speaker 5: in his repertoire, like it really hasn't had a ton
- 52:38Speaker 5: of big games of like just thinking about like the
- 52:40Speaker 5: AC Championship game is sophomore year at North Carolina. They
- 52:43Speaker 5: got their doors blown off of them. So yeah, it's uh.
- 52:47Speaker 5: Both these guys kind of have that reputation of being
- 52:49Speaker 5: a little bit too cool for school and not playing
- 52:52Speaker 5: the best in these like meaningful gus.
- 52:54Speaker 4: I definitely feel that about Herbert, And I can't decide
- 52:58Speaker 4: yet whether I feel it I'm lucky.
- 53:00Speaker 12: Or I feel like you can't say that about tracks yet.
- 53:03Speaker 19: No, you can't compare the college career to what he
- 53:07Speaker 19: would be like in the NFL with an NFL team.
- 53:10Speaker 5: No, you can't. And that's definitely true. But that's we've
- 53:14Speaker 5: been talking about this year, about the game winning drives
- 53:17Speaker 5: and the fourth quarter comebacks, and until he did it
- 53:19Speaker 5: in Baltimore, it's all I heard about about, you know,
- 53:21Speaker 5: from the people on the other side of it is
- 53:23Speaker 5: you know, he's never come from behind, He's never won
- 53:26Speaker 5: in the clutch, you know, And that's exactly what they
- 53:29Speaker 5: say about her.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Yea Austin and North Carolina. I was speaking with my
- 53:32Speaker 3: cousin who's a Carolina fan, and we were talking playoffs
- 53:35Speaker 3: and such, and I said of course Denver will be
- 53:37Speaker 3: playing at home just like every other week. He was
- 53:39Speaker 3: so confused and look at me like I had three
- 53:41Speaker 3: heads and goes. I'm pretty sure they have the same
- 53:44Speaker 3: number of home games that everyone else. I forget not
- 53:47Speaker 3: everyone is aware of the Fred Denver conspiracy. So well
- 53:51Speaker 3: you have to school them, have them listen to this show.
- 53:55Speaker 1: And the more you think about it, you're like, you
- 53:57Speaker 1: know what.
- 53:57Speaker 3: That's right.
- 53:59Speaker 19: That's funny how the bits become like part of your
- 54:03Speaker 19: like those parasocial relationships you have with podcast hosts and
- 54:07Speaker 19: whatever it may be.
- 54:08Speaker 4: I'm sure that the first time Fred did the whole
- 54:11Speaker 4: Denver road game bit that I bid for it.
- 54:13Speaker 3: I'm sure I'm.
- 54:17Speaker 8: Talking about because.
- 54:22Speaker 1: When they were arguing about it.
- 54:25Speaker 12: Some teams go to Europe.
- 54:26Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna take a break. We'll be right back.

- 56:26Speaker 6: There have been how to feel get out there first
- 56:27Speaker 6: practice of the week for a playoff game.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Yeah, felt good.
- 56:30Speaker 11: I think there's a lot of energy in the building.
- 56:32Speaker 11: I think everyone's excited and a little bit extra focus
- 56:35Speaker 11: and uh, you know, I think we're excited for some
- 56:38Speaker 11: playoff football and Sunday.
- 56:39Speaker 6: I want to take you back first just to last year.
- 56:41Speaker 6: I mean, you came here and you started the very
- 56:44Speaker 6: first weekend. Just what was that whirlwind like from you
- 56:46Speaker 6: for your perspective, coming into a team for the first time,
- 56:49Speaker 6: and then all of a sudden you find yourself starting
- 56:51Speaker 6: right out.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Of the gate.
- 56:52Speaker 11: Yeah, it was definitely chaotic, tremendous blessing though. I mean,
- 56:56Speaker 11: I remember I was in the Las Vegas Heat on
- 56:59Speaker 11: a a Wednesday afternoon, I believe, got a phone call
- 57:03Speaker 11: from my agent that the Patriots once signed me to
- 57:05Speaker 11: the fifty three. Took a red eye that night, landed
- 57:08Speaker 11: in Boston after a five hour flight at about six
- 57:11Speaker 11: thirty in the morning, and got picked up and they said,
- 57:14Speaker 11: all right, we're gonna take you to the facility and
- 57:16Speaker 11: get ready for practice. I had about thirty minutes of
- 57:18Speaker 11: sleep on the plane, so that was fun. And then
- 57:21Speaker 11: got there practice Thursday, Friday, then Saturday got told I
- 57:25Speaker 11: was starting, and I was able to play some games
- 57:27Speaker 11: last year, so it was an incredible experience and so
- 57:30Speaker 11: blessed to be here.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Just to put a ball on it.
- 57:32Speaker 6: Sorry, real quick, I mean, now you sign extension this
- 57:34Speaker 6: year with the team. I mean, do you feel like
- 57:35Speaker 6: you've you found a home here?
- 57:37Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 57:37Speaker 11: I mean I love everything about this organization. You know,
- 57:40Speaker 11: I really feel like everyone cares about one another here.
- 57:43Speaker 11: I feel like everyone's very focused on the same goal here.
- 57:48Speaker 11: And you know, I'm fortunate to be able to be
- 57:50Speaker 11: coached by coach Rabel and everyone else and also have
- 57:53Speaker 11: tremendous teammates in the locker room as well.
- 57:56Speaker 5: I think one of the cool unique things about you
- 57:58Speaker 5: is that you got to play with Drake is rookie
- 58:00Speaker 5: year and kind of see this right front and center,
- 58:03Speaker 5: almost literally sometimes of his development. What has that been
- 58:07Speaker 5: like to watch him go from the guy that started
- 58:10Speaker 5: in Houston with you to where we are now.
- 58:12Speaker 11: Yeah, it's been tremendous. You know, Drake's just such an
- 58:15Speaker 11: awesome guy. He's a great leader, phenomenal football player as well,
- 58:18Speaker 11: and to see his growth from last year to this
- 58:20Speaker 11: year is just you know, it's such a special thing
- 58:24Speaker 11: to be a part of to see him become the
- 58:26Speaker 11: player that he is and be able to lead us
- 58:29Speaker 11: and he'll continue to lead us. But yeah, he's a
- 58:32Speaker 11: great player, great friend, and yeah.
- 58:36Speaker 5: Memory Land let's get into the Chargers playoffs there a
- 58:39Speaker 5: little bit. I think one of the exciting things for
- 58:41Speaker 5: us watching you guys down the stretch here is the
- 58:43Speaker 5: run game and how you guys have been able to
- 58:45Speaker 5: really run the rock and late in the season January football.
- 58:48Speaker 5: Just how big is that for you guys going into
- 58:50Speaker 5: the playoffs and what's kind of click for you guys
- 58:52Speaker 5: in that regard?
- 58:53Speaker 11: Yeah, absolutely, I think in order to win playoff games,
- 58:56Speaker 11: you have to be able to run the ball pick
- 58:58Speaker 11: effectively and efficiently. So that's a big point of emphasis
- 59:02Speaker 11: for us for sure. And I think the big thing
- 59:04Speaker 11: for us is just everyone being on the same page,
- 59:06Speaker 11: having a great game plan every week. Everyone knows exactly
- 59:09Speaker 11: who we're going towards and uh yeah, and just the
- 59:13Speaker 11: guys that are out there as well. I mean, uh,
- 59:16Speaker 11: I love all of my own line buddies. I love
- 59:18Speaker 11: all the running backs, quarterback, wide receivers. You know, everyone
- 59:21Speaker 11: plays a part in the run game, and everyone's bought
- 59:23Speaker 11: into that. So that's why it works.
- 59:25Speaker 3: Can you talk a little bit about that chemistry.
- 59:26Speaker 6: I mean it seems like you guys, we have Morgan
- 59:28Speaker 6: in here, we have Mike in here, and you guys
- 59:30Speaker 6: know you have your your your.
- 59:32Speaker 1: What is it the.
- 59:36Speaker 3: Sushi Celtics games.
- 59:37Speaker 6: I mean, you've been a part of a couple different
- 59:39Speaker 6: offensive lines. Just how did that all come together? Did
- 59:41Speaker 6: you feel it early on, like like this is a
- 59:42Speaker 6: special group?
- 59:43Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 59:43Speaker 11: I think uh. During OTAs in training camp, we started
- 59:46Speaker 11: to make that more of an emphasis of spending time
- 59:49Speaker 11: away from the facility with one another, whether that's dinners
- 59:52Speaker 11: or going to events or anything, and because you really
- 59:55Speaker 11: have to build that bond off the field, uh, to
- 59:57Speaker 11: have it really grow on the field, you know. So
- 1:00:00Speaker 11: I think that's been important to us to spend time
- 1:00:03Speaker 11: away from here and uh, you know, talk on a
- 1:00:06Speaker 11: personal level outside of just football basis twenty four to seven.
- 1:00:10Speaker 11: So we have a great group of guys, and uh,
- 1:00:12Speaker 11: I'm so glad I'm part of this group.
- 1:00:14Speaker 6: We hear offensive line coaches sale all the time. We
- 1:00:15Speaker 6: want to see our guys to see it through one
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: set of eyes. Did you feel like off the field
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: that that helps with the on the field communication and
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: those things pulling it all together?
- 1:00:24Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:00:24Speaker 11: Absolutely, I think, uh, just having everyone on the same
- 1:00:27Speaker 11: page and just like you said, everyone's seeing through the
- 1:00:29Speaker 11: same set of eyes. Uh, And everyone has a great
- 1:00:33Speaker 11: understanding of the game plan every every single week, you know,
- 1:00:36Speaker 11: and we all use the same language and communicate efficiently
- 1:00:40Speaker 11: and effectively to one another. So I think that's been
- 1:00:42Speaker 11: a big part.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: What was your reaction when Will chug the beer on
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: the JumboTron and did you guys put him up to that?
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: It seemed prepared, You're like ready for the beer right
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: out there.
- 1:00:54Speaker 11: I mean he was ready for his dan you know, right,
- 1:00:58Speaker 11: that's right.
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: Yeah, what's his life playing next to him last week
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: a couple of times this year, but just seeing him
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: grow and him getting to play next to him every week.
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean he's a special player.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:01:11Speaker 11: He actually grew up an hour away from me. He
- 1:01:13Speaker 11: grew up in Monroe, Louisiana. I grew up in Vicksburg.
- 1:01:15Speaker 11: So it's kind of cool connection that we have right there.
- 1:01:19Speaker 11: That's right, Yeah, that's right. But uh no, Will's phenomenal player.
- 1:01:24Speaker 11: He's very mature for his age. He plays at a
- 1:01:26Speaker 11: very high level. He's super competitive as well, and I
- 1:01:31Speaker 11: think that that's what we need on this team.
- 1:01:33Speaker 13: You know.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: So I got one more for you, Ben, Just playoff football.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: We hear all about it, the intensity, ratchet it up,
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: you said it even in the building here. How do
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: you prepare for the energy, for the just the level
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: of competition that you're going to face on Sunday night
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: against those Chargers.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:46Speaker 11: I think the big thing is to you know, understand
- 1:01:49Speaker 11: that it's going to be a great environment. It's gonna
- 1:01:52Speaker 11: be a lot of fun, it's gonna be excitement, everything.
- 1:01:54Speaker 11: But you know, as coach, Brabes it said the other day.
- 1:01:57Speaker 11: You know, we're not going to change your recipe. You know,
- 1:02:00Speaker 11: we we understand what we need to do to accomplish
- 1:02:03Speaker 11: the things that we want to accomplish. So I think
- 1:02:06Speaker 11: just maintaining the same love consistency that we have throughout
- 1:02:09Speaker 11: the year. What it stands out to you about the Chargers, Yeah,
- 1:02:12Speaker 11: I think they're really good up front. You know, they
- 1:02:14Speaker 11: make it difficult to run the ball. They're strong, they've
- 1:02:17Speaker 11: got some fast guys, and uh, they mix in a
- 1:02:21Speaker 11: lot of movement as well, so it'll be a challenge
- 1:02:23Speaker 11: for us. But we're excited.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: Awesome, Yeah, we're excited too. Thanks so much for joining us.
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: And good luck Sunday, Yeah.
- 1:02:29Speaker 11: Thank you so much.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: History.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: We're we're chomping at the bit getting ready for the season.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Is it champing or chomping at the bit?
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Eric, chomping?
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: That's a good question, Fred, I've always heard as chomping,
- 1:02:50Speaker 6: but it's spelled champing, so I don't know.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: I really don't know which one is accurate. I think
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: I did know it.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: But naked or buck naked, I've always wanted it's a
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: good one.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: I think I'm looking at you with a light stare
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: because that's a great one. I think it's a bottle,
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: isn't it buck naked?
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Naked? Isn't it buck?
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: So who's a buck naked?
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Yeah, as in a tear is naked and you're like
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: a buck?
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: But would naked make more sense?
- 1:03:19Speaker 13: Oh?
- 1:03:20Speaker 10: It was?
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: This is This is the whole topic.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: I end it right now there, This is a whole
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: topic on miriam Webster dot com.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: While both buck naked and butt naked are used to
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: describe someone who is fully nude.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Buck naked is the older of the pair.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Fuck naked naked? But what about the champion and the chopping?
- 1:03:37Speaker 22: That's another great moment from all.
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: Right, it's time for the Copilot Question of the Week,
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: presented by a Microsoft copilot, where every day is game
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: day and where every decision is powered by insight, innovation,
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: and innovation. Microsoft technology helps to make decisions faster, insight sharper,
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: and strategies more adaptive. So, guys, usually I'm asking you
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: the question, but today I just want to ask Microsoft
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: co pilot the question how will the Patriots and Chargers
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: game unfold?
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: And it's quite a detailed response.
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: I'm going to I'll give you kind of the overview
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: of it, because but it sounds a lot like Evan.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: But I don't know how close this is going to
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: be in depth.
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: Is Belichick's analysis.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Just eat the cliff I'll just give you the cliff notes.
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: But really the question is is Microsoft Co Pilot a
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: ball noer?
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: So let's start with the first quarter.
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: Expect New England to open deliberately and structurally whatever that means.
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: Heavy twelve personnel and condensed formations force the Chargers out
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: of dime, so they play a lot of dime. I'm
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: not sure Drake May operates in a quick game, glances, flats,
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: option routes to neutralize the pressure. The Chargers respond conservatively early,
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: testing the Patriots covered structure but prioritizing ball security. This
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: is like a word salad right now. Patriots ten to
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: three after the first quarter, and then they're going to
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: go on.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Seventeen to ten.
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: But in the third quarter they say momentum swings in
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: the margin narrows as expect Jim hart buz best stretch here,
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: tempo packages and screens set up.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Slow New England's pressure disguises.
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: One long Chargers drive ends in points likely a field goal,
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: but the Patriots are going to hang on.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: The matchups that will decide the game.
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: According to Microsoft Copilot, are the Chargers ol against the
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: Patriots pressure disguise?
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough?
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: Probably right, Patriots would win that one.
- 1:05:24Speaker 6: Patriots RBS and tight ends versus Chargers sub packages. I
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: don't know about that one. Early down success rate kind
- 1:05:30Speaker 6: of like that. If New England stays in second and
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: five are better, they control tempo and win the possession game.
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: If the Chargers create early negative plays, the variant spikes
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: last one here explosive plays. Los Angeles likely needs two
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: or more chunk plays twenty plus yards to offset New
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: England's time in possession advantage. So final score Patriots twenty seven,
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: Chargers twenty According to.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: I like it.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Alex Pilot.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: I think is very smart.
- 1:05:56Speaker 12: I was just gonna say, what did the Maddenson have,
- 1:05:58Speaker 12: Like are the.
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: Commuters and they lost on the last they lost on
- 1:06:01Speaker 6: the last play.
- 1:06:03Speaker 12: Not over looking for it, Paul, not to cut you off.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: No, you did not cut me off. Co Pilot looks,
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: but he thinks the Patriots are going to do the
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: possessing of the ball. Yeah, that's that's what the pilot thinks. Interesting,
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: here's a quick thing. It's just a couple of cent
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: it's a really good in time in possession. I think
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: they're top ten.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Yeah, uh, it just a quick overview.
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: New England dictates the Temple early, absorbs the Chargers CounterPunch
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: after halftime, and then closes the game with a clock
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: training execute with clock training execution in the fourth quarter.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: So there you have the folks.
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: Let's do it all right, Okay, Microsoft Copilot take us home,
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: all right?
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: I like it.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: Just tired of me answering all the questions.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Well, I couldn't think of a great question.
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: Maybe you could think of a would be a great question, Paul,
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: regarding maybe the Chargers or playoffs or Patriots. I tried
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: a number of different things and nothing really struck my
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: fancy or applied to Drew ledso frankly that that would
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: have been in your wheelhouse.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, they didn't play the Chargers in a playoff
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: game when Drew There No, no, those the sixty three
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: they played seven six or seven with Brady?
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Yeah right? And then is there another one?
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, okay eight five five Pats five hundred is
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: the hotline podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: I want to remind everyone to subscribe to the newsletter
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Patriots dot com slash PU newsletter.

- 1:07:56Speaker 1: to the game will be given away.

- 1:08:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I'll be there. Come find me. I'll
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: be wandering around with my family.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Mike will be the one heckling Paul. I want to
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: you want to be there for that doesn't know what
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: he's talking about. I should be on all accents?
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: Did I do that bad last week?
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: All right, back to the phones. Let's go to Georgia.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: Smitty?
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: What's that Smitty in Georgia? Okay?
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: I think he was just there really well, too bad.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Man, he's in New Bedford.
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: Hey, bring us, Hey, what's going on?
- 1:09:31Speaker 17: Guys? By Devan always running away every.
- 1:09:34Speaker 23: Time I every time I call in Evan, Evan disappeared.
- 1:09:37Speaker 23: But so I I remember you guys talked about it
- 1:09:42Speaker 23: yesterday that the Chargers are really zone heavy team. And
- 1:09:47Speaker 23: again Drake May excellent with the zone, excellent with the blitz,
- 1:09:51Speaker 23: excellent with the man. I'm not gonna lie I I
- 1:09:54Speaker 23: I don't remember what game it was, but he was
- 1:09:56Speaker 23: having a hard time picking up like the zone.
- 1:09:58Speaker 17: Blitz little bit. And then my next question would be
- 1:10:03Speaker 17: with it again.
- 1:10:04Speaker 23: I know, Matt Collins again really big target, so he
- 1:10:08Speaker 23: was excellent with zone.
- 1:10:10Speaker 17: You know, does that have an impact on how they
- 1:10:13Speaker 17: game plan this? Do we see more of Austin Hooper
- 1:10:15Speaker 17: in the past game. I'm curious to know your thoughts
- 1:10:18Speaker 17: of taking off there.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Thanks jv Okay, Thanks Manny.
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: Yeah, it's I mean, it's, you know, like Smart's knowing
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: where to be. I mean, I'm not saying I think
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: he's wrong. I just don't know about that mc collins thing.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: I mean, I always just saw mac Collins as more
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: size and catch radius, you know, whether it was man
- 1:10:35Speaker 6: or zone.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: So I wonder about Pop Douglas though, and I honestly
- 1:10:39Speaker 6: wonder about Chisholm, and are they going to continue to
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: use him in a blocking role?
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: And what's his awareness in zone?
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: Kind of like he hasn't played a lot this year,
- 1:10:47Speaker 6: but you know, could that be you know, a guy
- 1:10:50Speaker 6: that maybe has a couple of catches because he can
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: find some holes.
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: I liked evans suggestion that you might get a couple
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: of chances to take some deep shots and Kyle Williams
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: and Booty. Yeah, and I think if you can hit
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: one of those, like Evan was talking, I think that
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: really affects the the way Jesse Minter has to respond
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: to that.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I think that could open up a lot of stuff.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Jacket and Abba. Knowing what you know now,
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: if the twenty four draft were held today and the
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: Patriots had the number one pick, whom would you select?
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: I would select Drake May.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: Caleb Williams is not accurate, and May is almost as
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: athletic as Williams. Jayden danielss uber athletic, but he's also
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: fragile in his playing style makes him susceptible to injury. Yeah,
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: I would definitely take Drake if I knew then what
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: I know now.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: But if you knew then what you knew then, I'd
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: probably stick with May because he's our guy. But it's
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: hard not to say Caleb Williams. That would be a
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: coin flip. I think Caleb Williams is terrific.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: If the Patriots had the number one pick in twenty four,
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: who do you think they.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Would have picked?
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: Caleb Williams Williams?
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the Begger question if they had they
- 1:11:58Speaker 6: had lost the last game last year with what would
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: they have done?
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Would taken Will Campbell won overall?
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: Is that that question? Because I think that's a much
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: more interesting you know, like, so they would have taken
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: Drake May. Okay, they have Drake May, so like what
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: would they have done if they got the number one
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: pick last year? Is done a number of different things,
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: including that, which I think probably would be the answer.
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: Someone would have been trading up to get cam Wood
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: and then what can you get down Campbell's stone.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: And try to get Will question for the show.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: I'm not sure if he is being uh serious here
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Brendan and Edmonton. Is this a must win game for
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: the Patriots? If you don't win, you go home playoffs.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: It doesn't get more must win than when you're in
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: True, Are you joking?
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Maybe he means like overall, like for the franchise, is
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: it a must win? In that case, I would say, no, playoff.
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: He's having fun and making a joke. But he might
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: be talking like that, right, like like you were talking yesterday,
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: like is it a success?
- 1:13:05Speaker 13: Right?
- 1:13:05Speaker 9: You know?
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Way do you go from here? And all that stuff?
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Sweet kid writes him, what's up? Sweet kid?
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: D Melvin.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: If we tighten up defensively in the red zone, we
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: should win. I feel both offenses will stall in the
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: red zone, but Patriots prevail twenty seventeen. Let's score first
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: and make them chase.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: I think your red zone thing is that's relevant. This
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: is you know, the Patriots are struggled in the red
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: zone and the Chargers offenses struggled in the red zone.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: So who wins that matchup could be very important.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: I think the Chargers are something like forty some odd
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: percent offensively forty seven percent I think offensively in the
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: red zone. Patriots allow like sixty eight percent touchdowns. If
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: the Patriots can win that battle and make make Mike's
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: guy Dicker the kicker kickfield goals, that's huge.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it is.
- 1:13:53Speaker 6: I mean that is something I think worth bringing up though,
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: is I mean Dicker is a good kicker. I mean
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: that's if it comes down to that. I mean they
- 1:13:59Speaker 6: might have this light edge. Again, I don't know exactly
- 1:14:02Speaker 6: what his splits are if if I mean, does sound
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: like weather's really going to be a factor. It doesn't
- 1:14:05Speaker 6: even sound like cold is really going to be a factor.
- 1:14:07Speaker 6: It seems like it's going to be pretty seasonable. But
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: he's a good kicker.
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Spencer writes in I went to dinner with Niners fans
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: last night, and I agree with the caller. They're heated
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: at the Patriots being good. I'd say seventy five percent
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: of fans nationally I still hate the Patriots.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: I'm surprised.
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: I'm not saying there's no one that hates the Patriots.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: I'm just saying I don't think this right now. They're
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: America sweethearts.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: I think people are in love with Drake.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: I think the only thing.
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: Holding that back right now is the MVP debate and
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: that there's you know something now, there's just some camps
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: that people are, you know, when I respect.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: I just think choice, for example of you know, has
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: to revolve around us.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: All right, Well, I just don't really see it. That
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: what it does, that's a revolverround the forty nine ers
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: in the hub of the universe. Paul, don't you know
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: we call it the hub. Don't you know the hub.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: Let's see, let's get back to the phones. Well, Todd
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: and Gardner is giving it another shot. What's up Todd?
- 1:15:02Speaker 18: Hey, guys, Hey, I think if we can get two
- 1:15:05Speaker 18: touchdowns from the combination of our outside guys Williams and
- 1:15:08Speaker 18: Body will win going away. Otherwise, to quote a wrestling
- 1:15:14Speaker 18: term from the seventies, I think Frank uses.
- 1:15:16Speaker 7: This term too.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: It'll be a slobber knocker.
- 1:15:18Speaker 18: And I have no idea, but we need to get
- 1:15:20Speaker 18: the outside guys going.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: Okay, what do you think, guy, I think, yeah, I
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: don't care who scores the touchdowns. Like if they score,
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: they score touchdowns, and they get the lead, they play
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: from the lead.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: I think that's their formula for success. That's what they've
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: done all year.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: Like if Hunter Henry catches two touchdowns instead of Kyle
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: Williams and Booty catching, I don't do that.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Well, I mean, okay, but let's look at it a
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: little bit more, you know, microscopically, if the two people
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: are scoring touchdowns?
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Are Booty and Williams? Is that opening it up for
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: other things because you're hitting it could be yeah, it
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: could be.
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: What do you think is more likely the Patriots one
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: by two scores?
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Are the Chargers one by two score? Patriots?
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: Yeah? Well that's what do you think?
- 1:16:01Speaker 12: I think?
- 1:16:01Speaker 19: I think I would be more likely for the Chargers
- 1:16:03Speaker 19: to win by two collapse what.
- 1:16:08Speaker 12: I think if we're going to lose, it would probably
- 1:16:10Speaker 12: be like that.
- 1:16:12Speaker 19: I don't know, though, And this is based on no
- 1:16:15Speaker 19: stat This is based on no.
- 1:16:17Speaker 12: It's just all how I feel.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: Yeah, No, I get what if the Patriots lose, you
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: think they'll probably lose going away? But I think the
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: way you asked it, what's more likely Patriots win by
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: the Charges? By to I think the Patriots by Oh no,
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: you asked that question. Fred and I rarely are on
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: the same page when it's immediately hard.
- 1:16:40Speaker 12: To imagine that. I don't know. I just see like
- 1:16:44Speaker 12: a shootout in a close game.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: That's that's what.
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: You and I have the same score. I know that's yeah,
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: we did like a half hour teasing our show. But
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: if if it were to be a fourteen point spread,
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: I think chances are of the Patriots would be the
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: team that wins by that because they're at home. Chargers history,
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: and you know the Felger and maz like warm weather
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: team coming. You know, I don't think that all those
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: things are going to be a huge factor. But I've
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: been wrong pretty much every step of the way this season.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: So if the.
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: Chargers come here and melt, I'll have to go in
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: on Wednesday and take my medicine from those two bozos
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: and say, hey, you guys were right.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: This game wasn't competitive. Cody's and Fresno, what's up?
- 1:17:32Speaker 13: Cody thinks what's going on?
- 1:17:35Speaker 24: He's hugely excited for the game this weekend. I think
- 1:17:38Speaker 24: ultimately we're going to crest the Chargers about thirty five
- 1:17:41Speaker 24: and twenty one. And I know the MVP discussion has
- 1:17:45Speaker 24: been beaten the desk, But the one thing I haven't
- 1:17:49Speaker 24: heard and maybe you guys have, is the focus.
- 1:17:52Speaker 17: Of the value financially.
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: When we look at Drake May and.
- 1:17:56Speaker 7: Stafford, the two you know contenders were split.
- 1:18:00Speaker 11: Here's here when we're.
- 1:18:00Speaker 24: Talking about the stats.
- 1:18:02Speaker 17: But how can you overlook May's impact on his rookie deal.
- 1:18:06Speaker 14: I mean, any team, any owner.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: Would kill to have made sure and would allow.
- 1:18:11Speaker 17: That team so much success in the future.
- 1:18:13Speaker 24: So I think looking at the v value, I mean,
- 1:18:17Speaker 24: there's no discussion made of the best.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go, Cody. You're in Fresno. You're in Fresno.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: How close is that to where the super Bowl.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Is going to be in Santa Clara.
- 1:18:28Speaker 7: Oh we're about four hours away.
- 1:18:29Speaker 10: Okay, yea, So it's going to be crowded.
- 1:18:34Speaker 17: I know the state is going to be huge.
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: Everything's going to be buzzing over here.
- 1:18:38Speaker 17: So I'm excited.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: Okay, we'll see you there, Cody and Fresno.
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: I would just say that, like a contract doesn't have
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: anything to do with value, that's not.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: I mean, if you're just talking about value.
- 1:18:55Speaker 12: He votes aren't thinking about that?
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: No, no should they?
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Smitty is back in Georgia giving in another try. What's up, Smitty, Smitty?
- 1:19:04Speaker 16: Hey guys, what's going on?
- 1:19:05Speaker 13: Hey?
- 1:19:07Speaker 16: Hey, I'm a long time listener, first time foller. I'm
- 1:19:11Speaker 16: an original season ticket holder from back in the day
- 1:19:14Speaker 16: when my dad and I had to buy stock in
- 1:19:16Speaker 16: Sullivan's family trust in order to get season tickets.
- 1:19:19Speaker 17: I don't know if you.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Remember all that, Yeah, trad you do. Right, sure.
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19:24Speaker 16: My My question is yesterday's report injury report, it showed
- 1:19:30Speaker 16: that half of the Chargers team had hamstring injuries.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: If that was the.
- 1:19:35Speaker 16: Case, why aren't they firing their their their conditioning staff.
- 1:19:39Speaker 16: And number two, is that something that's the legal lows
- 1:19:42Speaker 16: or is that this car blos you know, coming up
- 1:19:46Speaker 16: with some sort of conspiracy and and and trying to uh,
- 1:19:50Speaker 16: you know, make make the Patriots that something's up. I
- 1:19:58Speaker 16: don't know, I don't know. I've never seen something like that.
- 1:20:00Speaker 16: But if you look at the injury report, everyone had
- 1:20:02Speaker 16: hamster injury. Okay, if that allowed? Does the leak allow that?
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: Are you allowed to have a hamstring injury?
- 1:20:09Speaker 17: No?
- 1:20:10Speaker 12: He means like messing with the injury.
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: Like what evidence do we have that they're messing.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: With the injury report?
- 1:20:17Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: No, I think I mean they have a large I'm
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: just going to call it up here. They had a
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: lot of guys on it. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: eleven twelve. They had thirteen guys on the injury report.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: How many have hamster five? Five out of thirteen.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: I mean that's a lot, but it happens. I Mean
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: there's been times here in the Patriots where you get
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: a slew of a certain type of injury.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: I mean, that's not an uncommon injury. I mean it's
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: not like a running but it's not like this. You know,
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: do you remember that the year that Teddy Bruski and
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: Vrabel had that wristball there's a skaphoid injury? Like I'd
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: never heard that phrase in my whole life, that bone
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: or whatever, and they both broke it in the same year.
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: Was that a conspiracy that Belichick?
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: No, I don't think there's any advantage there, Smitty of.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I don't think there's an advantage to having your guys
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: not being able to practice in the week that the
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: game is being played. I don't think there's an advantage
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: to that. Like ol Marion Hampton has an ankle injury.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: I'm gonna guess that Jim Harbaugh is not thrilled about that.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: And here's the thing. It's it's hard to screw around
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: with this these days, Smitty and anyone else, because these
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: practice tapes can be audited. And like if you tell
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: if you say a guy had limited participation, Lee can
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: look at your practice tape and say he was there
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: the whole time.
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: Yeah, and three of those guys didn't practice at.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: All, right, so if they were out there, then you know,
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: the Chargers could get in trouble. So the league goes
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: to some pretty pretty great lengths to make sure that
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: teams aren't screwing with that practice report.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: I just don't.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Yes, a lot of it has to do with gambling,
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: and I do.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: I don't doubt that teams try to like tinker with
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: the injury report here and there. I think all teams do.
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: But I don't necessarily think it's an advantage. I don't
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: think they're trying to put one over on the Patriots
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: or whatever. Like Patriots don't look at a guy who
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: was limited in practice with the hamstring and say, well,
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: cross him off the list. You know, maybe if a
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: guy is in concussion protocol and he hasn't progressed to
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: the first step, you might say, well, doesn't look like
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: he's going to play.
- 1:22:19Speaker 12: You know, interesting to see what their injury report looks
- 1:22:22Speaker 12: like today.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: Yeah, guys get healthy.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: You know, Dante Jackson was limited to yesterday.
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: Yeah, he's good to go, evidently according to people with
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: the Chargers. But Hampton is not going to be one
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: hundred percent. Yeah, like you don't have a rookie not
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: practice the week of the game and have him be
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: one hundred percent. So he's gonna he's If he's I'm
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: sure he'll play, but he's not going to be he's
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: not going to be fully ready.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Get ready for that little Videl, that little guy.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: Who has been hurt and didn't play in the game
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: against the Broncos coming off of of a neck injury,
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: and now he's going to try to play. They were
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: already out, the other guys out, Najee Harris, he's been
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: out for most of the year.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: So this is what's what I was ready for the divisional.
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: As Evan and I were walking out during the break,
- 1:23:10Speaker 6: he just said, you know, they they should come out
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: with like a run heavy, like they should test the
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: Patriots run defense. And and you know, Evan has been
- 1:23:18Speaker 6: making the point that they don't run the ball a lot.
- 1:23:21Speaker 6: I mean, I think he said like a thirty percent
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: run team. But if I were the Chargers, I'd want
- 1:23:24Speaker 6: to test this Patriots run defense. You talk about sustaining drives,
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: that'd be a good way to do it.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: Cam's in North Carolina.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: Cam? You in? Cam?
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Cam is our Cam.
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: It's Cam Newton.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Cam.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: A lot of people sleep at the phone here. How
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: about Connecticut, We'll go to sal how's the pizza?
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: Sal?
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: Hey?
- 1:23:51Speaker 16: How did you guys?
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: Hey show? But one one comment and one question, Paul,
- 1:24:02Speaker 7: you talk about the the scheduled being the you know,
- 1:24:09Speaker 7: we only had so many opponents that were that were
- 1:24:11Speaker 7: under the under they were over five hundred. We've had
- 1:24:15Speaker 7: thirteen or so opponents. And if part of the reason
- 1:24:19Speaker 7: that some of these opponents and many of them are
- 1:24:21Speaker 7: under five hundred, is because the Pats beat them. So
- 1:24:25Speaker 7: I mean, I think when they when they start looking
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: at schedules, it's better to review where they would have
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: been had has not succeeded as they did against them.
- 1:24:33Speaker 7: I think their their schedule was not strong, but I
- 1:24:36Speaker 7: don't think it was necessarily.
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: It was the weakest since the merger in the history
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: of the league.
- 1:24:43Speaker 7: I believe that, Paul. But going into the season, you look.
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: Like, for example, that was Alex's point. You didn't think
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: that going into the season that some of the teams
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: that were terrible were going to be terrible, like Cincinnati
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: and Baltimore. I think Alex brought that up.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and I.
- 1:24:56Speaker 7: Think Alex is correct. But at the same time, you
- 1:24:59Speaker 7: look at the you know you said under five hundred.
- 1:25:01Speaker 7: You look at the NFC South. We swept that division
- 1:25:05Speaker 7: and they're all late. Three of them are.
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: Nine and it's and it's the worst division in football.
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: I mean, it is what it is.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: I'm oh, I can't.
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: I just don't want oh. I don't know why Evan
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: is so right. I don't know why there's triggers people sound.
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: Don't just be happy. Don't let me that you won
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: fourteen games.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: Don't let people get to you about the schedule.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: Don't worry about it. I keep telling everybody the same
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: thing said, we're good, We're not flukes.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: Like, what are you watching. You're watching a team that
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: is good every week. Your quarterback is the MVP. What
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: do you care that people are talking about the schedule.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Don't let them get to yourself. I don't really get it.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:25:41Speaker 7: I'm with you, Fred, Well, listen, I love the haters.
- 1:25:45Speaker 7: I guess I suppose, but one just question, I'll take
- 1:25:48Speaker 7: it off the air, is I would like I think
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: it would be optimistic for the optimal for the Paths
- 1:25:54Speaker 7: to have the Jaguars lose to the Bills, so they
- 1:25:57Speaker 7: don't have to go to Denver because that play house
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: of horrors for the Patriots any other combination and includes
- 1:26:03Speaker 7: just going to Denver. I think andrews us losing in Denver.
- 1:26:08Speaker 13: Take care of guys.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: Okay, all right, thanks, Okay.
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: I'm actually working myself into the opposite.
- 1:26:16Speaker 12: Not afraid of Denver.
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: I'm rooting for Denver to be Buffalo if it comes
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: to that in the second round.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, let's go to Andrew in Ottawa. Hey, Andrew,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: can you hear me?
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: Yeah? Hey, so, yeah, longtime fan. I'm just h one
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: is to share a quick question and then comment and
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: I'll take it off air. The comment, I guess just
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: to answer something or just to reply to Paul from earlier,
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: just to be fair to the Jets, right like they
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: if imagine ratings were a little better, you know, they'd
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: probably be doing better themselves to so you know, I
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: guess we can't be too hard on them. But uh,
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: as for the comment. Yeah, So I got married a
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: bit over a year ago and my wife saw how
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: much of a Pats fan I am, so she took
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: a big interest and we went through all the three
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: games to glory, uh tape there and yeah she's she's
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: a huge fan now too. The reason I'm bringing that
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: up is I just kind of uh told her, like, hey,
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: my dream job after I retired get out of the
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: military here is, you know, maybe I could do something
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: that the you know, for the Patriots. And then because
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: she saw the ring ceremony and stuff and how everyone's awarded,
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: so I just told her, I'm glad but we got
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: married and that that's not something I have to worry
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: about because I can't imagine a Super Bowl ring, uh,
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: you know, being the first ring she got. So I
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: guess just the last quick thing is, huh, what happens
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: in this state in this situation. If it's not three
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: games to glory, it's going to be three games to
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: glory plus one for this year?
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Well we'll figure something out. Yeah, yeah, four games? All right,
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: thanks Andrew.
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: Actually, what's not let's not reinvent the wheel here, right, yeah,
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: Gandalf in the Shire rights in.
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: The Chargers have lost by fourteen or more three times
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: this year. Patriots have lost by one score every time. Okay,
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: it's that three times that they've lost.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 1:28:29Speaker 6: Interesting, I would say though, if there was an if
- 1:28:32Speaker 6: there was a four game to glory, that'd be pretty
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: jam packed with a lot of a lot of stuff.
- 1:28:36Speaker 12: Considering all the extended directors.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: Cut a lot in there.
- 1:28:40Speaker 12: Sure yeah, forged in Foxborough.
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: Apart from poland fun fact, if the Patriots make the
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Super Bowl, the only possible matchup that wouldn't be a
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Super Bowl rematch would be the forty nine ers. The
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: Patriots have faced all six other teams from the NFC
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: and previous Super Bowls Bears, Ackers, Rams, Panthers, Eagles, and Seahawks.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: That's a great stat It is great.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: I love that that's what happens.
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: Fred will get mad because you can't call it a rematch, all.
- 1:29:09Speaker 6: Right, If only the Giants could have figured out a
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: way to sneak in here, he is.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: That's that's that's a good stat though.
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: That is speaking to trivia. Tyler and Georgia has some
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: through the Patriots. Though the Patriots aren't playing Saturday the tenth,
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: as that happens to be my birthday, wanted to try
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: and stump the crew with some January tenth trivia for
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: a chance to win a T shirt.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: Duce couldn't do it for me, but the listeners are
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: coming through.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: All right, QUI. Patriots have played on January tenth three
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: times with a two and one record. The first game
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: was the divisional round of the three season against Tennessee,
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: with the Patriots winning seventeen fourteen. Who did they play
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: in the other two games.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna say the Jets on January tenth.
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: He says, I won't give him the years because that
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: would almost certainly give it away.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: In other words, these were very memorable games. When were
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: better or worse? It was the same opponent for both teams.
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: Purthers noted record one of the games was a loss,
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: not to Denver, No, it was both Baltimore Baltimore. I
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: was just thinking of teams they lost nine and fifteen, Okay,
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: so oh nine they they it was the wild card loss.
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: In fifteen it was the double pass game, right right?
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I would actually be fourteen yeah, fourteen.
- 1:30:38Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: And one other question. On January tenth, nineteen eighty eight,
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: the actual day I was born, the Denver Broncos defeated
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: the Houston Oilers thirty four to ten in the AFC
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: Divisional round. Where was this game played?
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: The astronome.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: Even in the late eighties, Denver always played at home,
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: And to anyone who points out how home field is
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: determined in the playoffs, just go with the joke.
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: Very well done. That's a good joke. Good Jobby Miller.
- 1:31:07Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: One more call and then we're going to get to picks.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: Goose is in East Boston. What's up, Goose?
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: Talk to me? Goose, Hey, what's up? But you never
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: heard that one.
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: I got a question about time of possession.
- 1:31:23Speaker 14: I know a lot of the games the Patriots maybe
- 1:31:25Speaker 14: even slightly struggling, and I think of the Bills game
- 1:31:27Speaker 14: that comes to mind, even like the quick Trevion touchdown,
- 1:31:30Speaker 14: It's felt like we just didn't have ball as much.
- 1:31:32Speaker 14: And I know, yeah, the Chargers lead and time possession,
- 1:31:35Speaker 14: and I was wondering what you guys think are the
- 1:31:36Speaker 14: keys to avoiding that from.
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: Happening, the obvious stuff they're getting them off the field defense,
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: you know, getting some pressure, you know, taking advantage of
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: that bad offensive line.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: For the Chargers.
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, little ro Harbart action the Patriots should because
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: illegal formation. I think you can bank on that little
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: illegal formation, little offensive tackle lined up off the line
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: of scrimmation. We had on a thirty one yard catch
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: for Quinton Johnson legal formation.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: I'm not worried about time of possession in this game.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Now, I'm worried about if they possessed the ball and
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: once they get close, keeping them to three red zone defense.
- 1:32:14Speaker 9: See.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: I worry a little about time of possession only because
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: if it shortens the possessions, that keeps the score down.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: I think, I think Thetriot score, you'll see my score.
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: I think the Patriots are more comfortable the higher the
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: score gets, and I don't think the Chargers feel the
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: same way.
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: All right, all right, well, thanks Goose, thanks for the call.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: It is that time of the week.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: And we're gonna have our season ending standing, so.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: You didn't have to rush through this. So obviously there's
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: a lot less games, that's.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: True, pick time, more time on each jam.
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: But I will allow you to take your victory laps
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: those of you that are in line to do so.
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: So the last week of the season, which we all
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: acknowledge is very difficult. Alex and Mike were nine and seven, Evan, Paul,
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: and Fred were all a so the final overall standings
- 1:33:09Speaker 4: Alex by virtue of her one win advantage in week
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: eighteen one seventy four, ninety seven and one. Fred won
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: seventy three ninety eight and one, Paul was third, one
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: sixty seven, one oh four and one, Mike won sixty three,
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: one oh eight and one, and Evan the ball Noer
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: one sixty one, one ten and one.
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: Love to see it with the spread.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: Which is, as Fred likes to say, with the men
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: are separator through the boys.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: Paul eleven and five.
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: You did it, wow.
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: I want to come back amazing.
- 1:33:45Speaker 12: Better come back Atlanta Patriots, super Bowl or Paul this year.
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: I think we have to put that in co pilot
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: and next week and see Alex and Evan eight and eight,
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: Mike seven and nine, and Fred six and ten. I
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: beat you by five games Fred in the last week,
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: but it wasn't quite enough enough. Dug too deep of
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: a hole. Fred one forty three, one twenty five and four,
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: a very very good record with the spreads, won two
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: games back. Paul one one twenty seven and four, Evan
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: the Ball Knower one thirty five, one thirty three in four.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: So the three of us made.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: A little cash.
- 1:34:28Speaker 4: Little Kashish and Alex one thirty two, one thirty six
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: and four. Nothing to be ashamed.
- 1:34:34Speaker 19: Of right apart with the spread about.
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: Solid solid, four games under five hundred.
- 1:34:41Speaker 12: I'm ashamed last year we were all above five hundred. Significantly.
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: It's my one. Okay, there's my one. I want everybody
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: to listen to this. Oh my god, because I think
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: this is extremely difficult to accomplish over the span of
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: eighteen weeks of football. Mike Dussaut picked every game with
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: the spread and finished one fourteen, one fifty four and four.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good because we repeat that for.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: Those of you in the back that may not not
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: have caught it. One fourteen, one fifty four and four.
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: Stay away from.
- 1:35:12Speaker 10: That app you watch, you watch who you heck?
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: Say, my friend?
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: Fair enough, fair enough?
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: But all right, all right, So now it's a clean slate.
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: Who will emerge in the playoffs?
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah, thank god, you can see I've
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: wiped the slate clean. Everybody's owing all for everything in
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: the playcat All right, So we start anew As Paul said,
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: there's not as many games, only six, so we can
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: take our time with each one and give really in
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: depth analysis.
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: I printed out some things.
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: I'm just going to take the check route and just
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: say whatever. My wife would come up with.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: Oh, all right, so we start with wait a minute,
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: how do they do this?
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: The Rams?
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: They have the film, but they have the Sunday game
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: first on NFL.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: What are they doing it? What are they doing? All right,
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: we're gonna start with Saturday. We're not Donaurday. And that's
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: at four thirty.
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: It's the Rams at twelve and five against the Panthers
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: eight and nine on Fox.
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: The Rams by ten and a half.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: Ten and a half, Charlie, Okay, yeah, that's that as
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: it moved, all right.
- 1:36:23Speaker 6: So of course the uh, the Panthers won thirty one
- 1:36:25Speaker 6: twenty eight earlier this season. This would be a rematch,
- 1:36:29Speaker 6: but the Rams have won two of the last three.
- 1:36:31Speaker 6: I'm just gonna read off this sheet and maybe it'll
- 1:36:33Speaker 6: help me. Sean McVay has one hundred career wins as
- 1:36:36Speaker 6: as a head coach, one of three to do so
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: all time prior to turning forty.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: All right, enough with this, I'm gonna take. I'm gonna
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: take like the ESPN pregame show right now, I'm.
- 1:36:47Speaker 6: Gonna take the Rams, and uh yeah, I just I
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: think Caroline is a nice story.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: They snuck in.
- 1:36:52Speaker 6: They won the bad Division, But I think it's all over,
- 1:36:55Speaker 6: and I think the Rams veteran team, they're gonna blow doors.
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: I'll lay the ten and a half.
- 1:37:00Speaker 19: I felt like the Rams we're going to cover all
- 1:37:04Speaker 19: day now. Deuce is predicting this as well, so I
- 1:37:07Speaker 19: have a little.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: Pause now to the opposite, you'll probably be right now
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: you're getting mocked in your head.
- 1:37:13Speaker 19: I think what the Panthers did is very commendable and
- 1:37:16Speaker 19: very cute. It's that great for them to build on
- 1:37:20Speaker 19: in the future.
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: Rams role Okay, okay, yeah, I will take the Rams
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: both ways too. I feel like they sort of manage
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: themselves down the stretch after that Seattle loss on that
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: Thursday night, kind of trying to keep themselves healthy. Maybe
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: DeVante Adams ready to return for this playoff game. They
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: do remember going to Carolina and turning the ball over
- 1:37:46Speaker 4: a Sluettes. I think they had four turnovers in that game.
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: One of them was a pick six. I don't think
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: those things happen this time, and I think they need
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: to do something Fred the NFL, I don't think. I
- 1:37:57Speaker 4: don't think it's a good look to have the home
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: team being underdogs by ten and a half points in
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: a playoff game. If you can't finish five hundred, you
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: can't make the playoffs. This division nonsense needs to go.
- 1:38:08Speaker 4: But I will take the Rams both ways.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: Did cam Ward die or something? Cam who's the quarterback? Young?
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: I get the mixed up.
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: This is the guy who led Freddy Field.
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: But like surprise in the playoffs that the spread is
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: this much. Panthers are no Panthers. I think they cover
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: Rams win, but I think the Panthers cover at home playoffs.
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: Everybody's gonna be up for this game unless there's a
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: slew of injuries I don't know about in Carolina.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: Now, those just the regular players they have every week.
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with the Panthers covering here and I'll
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: be right. I mean, let me tell you all right,
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: Saturday night, eight o'clock and I can't see this is
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: on Amazon.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: I believe it.
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: Yeah, Amazon, this is an Amazon game. The nine to
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: seven and one Packers are at the eleven and six.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: Bears Green Bay by one and a half. It's a
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: big game. So my buddy Yle Brnant talking about it.
- 1:39:13Speaker 6: He's a Bears fan and he's just was talking about
- 1:39:15Speaker 6: how the Packers have just crushed the Bears over the
- 1:39:18Speaker 6: last whatever. It's been twenty plus years and it's a
- 1:39:21Speaker 6: real chance for the Bears to change that narrative.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: And I think they do. I think they do.
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: I've been a Packer fan in recent years, but I
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: just they're so inconsistent and there's something that tells me
- 1:39:33Speaker 6: that Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams are gonna let it rip.
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: And you know, with no Michael Parsons there for the
- 1:39:39Speaker 6: for the Packers, I think that really hurts them. So
- 1:39:41Speaker 6: I'm going to take Chicago to win. And you say
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: one and a half, yea, so one and a half. Yeah,
- 1:39:45Speaker 6: I'll rebates favorite. All right, Sorry, I'll take the point
- 1:39:48Speaker 6: for the point and a half of Chicago, please bear.
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna take the Bears too, for a lot
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: of the reasons Mike said. The Packers really got hit late,
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: you know, including Jordan.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: Love and he hasn't played.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: Parson's obviously a huge loss. I think the defense has
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: taken on Water a little bit since he went out
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: of the lineup. I'm a little worried about how Chicago
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: handles this. You know, we talked a lot about Drake
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: May's first playoff game. This is Caleb Williams' first playoff game.
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: He's had a bad tendency this year of really slow
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: starts and building holes and having to climb out of them.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: I don't think that's a good formula for success in
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: the postseason. So I do worry about that. But I
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: like the Bears at home and I will take them
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: to win.
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: If I was a Bears fan, i'd be up in arms.
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: What I know, it's only a point and a half,
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: but what an insult after the year they've had to
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: be dogs at home against the Packers. What an insult?
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: Because really it's four points? What do they know?
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: Friend usually get three?
- 1:40:52Speaker 12: What do they they know?
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: Nothing in this one. This is just bad. This is
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: just a money thing.
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: Yeah, so the Bears, Bears win Bears. It's just what
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: an insult to the Bears.
- 1:41:03Speaker 4: Oh yeah, A lot of a lot of road favorites
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: this week in the playoffs this well, four out of
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: the six road So I'm with.
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: You, Bears fans. You're gonna beat the Packers, all right.
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: So that's the Saturday games. Now we move to Sunday
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: and it's one o'clock and we are watching CBS because
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: the Bills at twelve and five are playing the Jaguars
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: at thirteen and.
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: Four, Buffalo by one and a half. That's a really
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: tough game for me to pick my toughest game.
- 1:41:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I have a lot of respect for Josh Allen.
- 1:41:38Speaker 6: I think they feel the opportunity right now to go
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: on a run. But I just think their path is
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: so difficult to I mean, they have to go to Jacksonville,
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: to Denver, maybe to New England. You know, like it's
- 1:41:49Speaker 6: it's really tough. And I think Jacksonville. I think Trevor
- 1:41:51Speaker 6: Lawrence was one Player of the month and he deserved it.
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: They're they're playing great.
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: It just seems to me like, I don't know Buffalo
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: is gonna do it.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: I really think the spread was one and a half,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: Buffalo by one of the half.
- 1:42:02Speaker 6: I've been I've been kind of in my mind just
- 1:42:03Speaker 6: thinking Buffalo all week and now when I really look
- 1:42:05Speaker 6: at this game, I'm gonna take the Jaguars.
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: I'm gonna take the Jaguars.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I like it.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I like it. And is that it for McDermott
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: if the Jaguar, If Jaguars win, I think so, yeah,
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: another one nine nine.
- 1:42:20Speaker 19: My heart says Jags, my head says Buffalo. So so
- 1:42:25Speaker 19: I'm going to go with emotion. I would love to
- 1:42:27Speaker 19: see the Jaguars beat the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: You gonna go with your heart.
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: Yet the heart, what the heart wants or whatever it wakes,
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: I don't know what it wants.
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: I just think Jacksonville is entering the playoffs in a
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: much better position. They're healthier. The Bills a beat the crap.
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: I don't know what Josh Allen's going to look like.
- 1:42:48Speaker 4: You'll probably benefit a little bit from not having to
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: play that last game with that injury, but I don't
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: think you just magically have one week off and you're
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: you're okay. He's the whole team, and I don't think
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: he's one hundred percent. I'll take the Jags.
- 1:43:01Speaker 12: Interesting also on this for Jacoby.
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll take I'll take the Jags. I think they
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: were better teams.
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: Don't care about I guess not, I don't.
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: I mean, I love Jacoby Myers, and I love more importantly,
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: I love mister Myers still listening, But if the Bills
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: were healthy, I'd be taking the Buffalo even though Jacoby
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: Myers is on jackson I.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: I I hope you guys are right, I really do.
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: But I'm going with the Bills here because I foresee
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: a Bill's Denver showdown and I've I've felt that, I've
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: seen it.
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: I'm manifesting.
- 1:43:37Speaker 6: It's going to manifest itself prophecy taking the Patriots out
- 1:43:41Speaker 6: of it.
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: For me, I think Jacksonville might be the best team
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: in the AFC right now. Yeah, well, okay, I hope.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: But like I said, I hope I'm wrong. I hope
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: you guys are right. I'd love to, you know, have
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: the Bills windows slam shut like that.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: Yeah, they're gonna proba'ly gonna be some changes, all right.
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: Now, we go to four thirty on Sunday and we're
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: on Fox. We've We've changed our televisions to Fox. It's
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: the forty nine Ers at twelve and five at the
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: Eagles defending Super Bowl champions at eleven and six.
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: Philadelphia by four and a half, the first the first
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: home favorite.
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: That is it's interesting. Yeah, how's the health on this one?
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: In this one for the forty nine ers?
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: Forty nine is a beach of crap all year. Yeah,
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: that's why I think it's one of the best coaching jobs.
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: Shanahan is done. But right now, keeping together tough.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean.
- 1:44:40Speaker 6: It's just so hard for me to get behind that
- 1:44:42Speaker 6: Philly offense when especially watching that Bills game where I'm like,
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: you guys can't move the ball in the second half.
- 1:44:48Speaker 6: I'm gonna go San Francisco with the upset on the road.
- 1:44:52Speaker 6: Rock Purty champs are out me.
- 1:44:55Speaker 19: Too, even though I hate how many upsets I've picked.
- 1:44:59Speaker 19: Just like it seems like bad vibes right now.
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I do worry a little bit about that because
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: Philly just they don't seem right. I think Philly is
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: a vastly superior team, and I'm going to take them
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: to win the game.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: I will take the points. I'll take, you know, the
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: four and a half.
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: Maybe it's a field goal game, maybe that the Niners
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: score late, but I think you guys are right. I
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: think the Niners have an opportunity to go there and win.
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: I was I had my eyes opened by what Seattle
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: did to San Francisco, and I think Philly can do
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: the same thing. I think Philly's defense is pretty formidable,
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: and I think that you can defend the Niners. Right now,
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: Trent Williams worries me too. If he's not back, I'll
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: take Philly to win the game at home, but San
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: Francisco to cover.
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: What do we know about Trent Williams, because that's huge.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: I don't know. Did you look at the injury report?
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: I don't know how like a computer, don't don't you
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: talk to people.
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: I don't talk to people about the Philly San Francisco.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: Maybe I'll get a text, but.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: You know, yeah, I think that. I think this has
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: been a really really good job done by Shannyan. Really
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: impressive what Shanny Han has done. Fred Warner, Nick Bosa.
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: They lost another linebacker last week whose name is escaping me.
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: Hufanga is something one of those guys. They've been really
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: decimated with injuries all year long. Trent Williams in and
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: out of the lineup is a huge difference for them.
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: Yep, yep, I'm gonna go with Eagles ready, and I'll
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: head hedge my bed. I'll say the forty nine ers
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: cover the four and a half. But yeah, who you're
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: rooting for in that one?
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: Forty nine Ers all the way? I mean, I can't
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: do that.
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: Why not because I don't like the forty nine ers?
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: What did they ever do to you when I was
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: a kid, They dominated, So I'm just like everybody. So
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: you must hate Dent Dallas. Yep.
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: You hate the Steelers, yep, Raiders, yep, you hate the
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: forty nine Ers, Yep, you hate the Giants.
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't really hate the Giants. They didn't dominate.
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: They have a couple of good.
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: Runs about then if you.
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: Missed one the Dolphins, I know you hate Miami Pop yes, Redskins, Yes, okay,
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: all right, there was the teams.
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: That won all the time.
- 1:47:09Speaker 14: I didn't.
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: I didn't hate them because you're probably a fan of
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: them each time they won time.
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: That's poor. That's what I.
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: Agree, and that's what you do.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: That's poor to me. All right, now, we're going to skip.
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: Over Sunday at eight o'clock and we're gonna move to
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: Monday night, which to me is a travesty and abomination.
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: It's abhorrent, uh to have a Monday night game.
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: In the playoffs.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: I agree, I think this is stupid.
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: But anyway, I guess the alternatives have three games on
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: Saturday and they don't want to do that.
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: And ask you a quick question, will you be that
- 1:47:47Speaker 6: upset about it Monday night when you're like, I'm.
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: Looking at it from the perspective of the teams that
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: have to play.
- 1:47:54Speaker 4: Sure, you know it's altruistic because I agree of him,
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: but I feel like, pecially if the Patriots win and
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: it's like fall, let's go, let's say more football.
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'll.
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: Take your word for it. I may not even watch
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: you play that game.
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: What Chicago? Okay? Is it on a stream? My New
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: Year's resolution was.
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: My new New Year's resolution is to make Paul a
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: fan of the NFL. You can't make me.
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: I would want to watch the Buffalo Jacksonville game. Eric
- 1:48:25Speaker 4: had left the building in the San Francisco phillip Philadelphia game.
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: Unfortunately we'll be doing shows like probably won't be able
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: to see much of that. I don't really have the
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: streaming game. We all know that I'm out in the
- 1:48:39Speaker 4: Monday night game. You can't make me watch that Pittsburgh
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: team again, Like I just I hate watching them off.
- 1:48:45Speaker 13: Now.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: It's not only I don't like the Steelers now. They
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: have probably the most unlikable player who's played in the
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: league in the last twenty five years is the quarterback.
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: I can't do it. I can't you hate football, how.
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: The communication it's win, I will watch it, just for
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: professional because I am a professional friend.
- 1:49:06Speaker 12: You can hate watch Rogers.
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: You scout.
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: I don't really hate watch a lot, No.
- 1:49:10Speaker 12: But it was fun must sing it is I like
- 1:49:14Speaker 12: to root for a.
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: Team he does?
- 1:49:16Speaker 6: Didn't you love watching him lose his mind though? When
- 1:49:18Speaker 6: the como communication wasn't going and he can't get the
- 1:49:20Speaker 6: play and he's just so mad, Like, I just love
- 1:49:22Speaker 6: watching him get mad.
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I was rooting for Baltimore to beat Pittsburgh,
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: not hate watching Pittsburgh.
- 1:49:29Speaker 12: Make me too.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: Watches will make Patriots fans more upset, That's what I
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: want to have.
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: So okay, So, which.
- 1:49:36Speaker 12: Can I argue with the listeners and Evan and.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: What can what can what?
- 1:49:39Speaker 10: So?
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: What do we pick? What do we do for this one?
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: Like du says that Jacksonville might be the best team
- 1:49:45Speaker 4: in the AFC, But yet you're you're like rooting You're
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: picking Buffalo, Like, which one are.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: You rooting for? Well, I'm rooting for Jacksonville.
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: Oh okay, that's all right. So you're rooting for the
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: best team to win. If I were a Patriot fan
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: and I thought that Jacksonville was the best team, I'd
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: be rooting against them.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: I would like to.
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: I just know.
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: But Patriots fans are scared of Josh Allen.
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: Okay, I was told Patriots fans aren't scared of me.
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: I don't know who.
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: I believe he made a declaration?
- 1:50:12Speaker 12: Did he did?
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: You open a show with the Patriots shouldn't be afraid
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: of anybody.
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: They shouldn't be, but they are. And I try to
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: get them off the ledge. I tried to talk them
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: off the ledge. But they shouldn't be, but they are.
- 1:50:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:50:27Speaker 12: See, the Patriots shouldn't be afraid of the Patriots fans.
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: Fans fans should The Patriots aren't afraid.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: I mean I was.
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: The Patriots themselves are not afraid. This is all any
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: of the other teams in.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: The league, and I hear it all the time on
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: your shows, every show. We don't want to have anything
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: to do with Josh Allen.
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: Okay. Meanwhile, everyone here thinks the Jaguars are going to
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: beat Josh Allen.
- 1:50:54Speaker 12: But I picked emotionally.
- 1:50:55Speaker 4: I think the Jags are going to beat the Bills.
- 1:50:58Speaker 4: I didn't say anything about Josh well he's on the
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: I think the Jags have a better team than the Bills.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, okay, and Josh Allen can't overcome it.
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: I don't think you will, not in his physical state.
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: You go with a broken foot.
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: All right, Texans playing with Texans? This is eight fifteen.
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: Did we already do the picks for this one?
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Though?
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: No Startsburgh?
- 1:51:18Speaker 12: Sorry you talk about I was an abomination, and then it.
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: Was an abomination that are playing on Monday night.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: Plus that you can't wait because I'm killing time you
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: can't wait to watch abomination that you can't wait to
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: see Houston by three?
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: Yeah, so I wow like to buy points. I picked Jacksonville,
- 1:51:37Speaker 6: So I just theory to texanhll you.
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: Think they should be favored by more than on the
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: road in a playoff? Yes, and something needs to be
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: done about the way the NFL does Playoffsky, if you
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: think it's an abomination that a wild card team is
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: going on the road to play a division winner and
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: they should be favored by more, maybe we should stop
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: having the best of four teams be automatically in the
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: playoffs and play at home.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: I think you receive the whole You just shuffle, you
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: receed the whole thing, like it's better of the division,
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: the divisions.
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: You just regard just the best of four teams and
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: you automatically make the playoffs, but you get a home game. Yeah,
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: I'm done with I.
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: Say, get rid of the divisions.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: I'm done at the.
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: We need to change this, you know.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: Get rid of the divisions, all right?
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: Keep going to Houston by three, dude, Houston by three.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: So I've got the Patriots.
- 1:52:29Speaker 6: Uh, you know, then A're gonna have to face Jacksonville
- 1:52:32Speaker 6: and I will take I gotta take Houston.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: I just think they're the better team.
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: I just I feel like Pittsburgh, though, is somehow going
- 1:52:39Speaker 6: to like hang in there and it's gonna be close.
- 1:52:41Speaker 6: And even as much as you not to disparage them,
- 1:52:43Speaker 6: they always seem to kind of hang around.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: This time.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Houston.
- 1:52:48Speaker 12: I'm gonna take Houston. I'm gonna it's.
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: Three three three flat three flat three.
- 1:52:54Speaker 12: Mmm, Houston, Houston.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I am with the group.
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: I like the Texans. I could see Aaron Rodgers just
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: throwing the ball to Kenneth Gainwell about fifteen times in
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: this game, and if the Texans just come up and
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: tackle them, they will not.
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: Be able to move the ball.
- 1:53:12Speaker 3: Well, I'm telling you right now, Texans win. Rogers doesn't
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: even finish the game. And it's not because the score. Wow, jeez, yeah,
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: he's not going to finish the game.
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: Nobody roots for injuries like the red.
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: I'm not rooting for it. It's just going to happen
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: to be Will Anderson and then we never hear from
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: him again. I don't know about that. But he's not
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: going to finish the game. So there you go. All right,
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: Now we move back to Sunday at eight o'clock. This
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: is not envy, sure, and I'm sure the peacock in universe.
- 1:53:45Speaker 6: It's my favorite thing you're saying, Universo, I just it
- 1:53:48Speaker 6: makes my week.
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: The Chargers are eleven and six and the Patriots, of
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: course are fourteen and three.
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: Oh Patriots by three and a half. Three enough, Oh
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: boys stayed exactly where it was Sunday, it.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: Was right now.
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: I'm just I'm going to take the Patriots, of course.
- 1:54:09Speaker 6: But I I feel like this is gonna be a
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: roller coaster game. I was trying to think of a
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: like good little Fred thing of like, you know, get
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: your something ready to ride the roller coaster, and I
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: couldn't come up with it quick enough.
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: It's amazing you couldn't get in his Usually he's got
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: some like, you know, little story to lead you to
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: be able to pick that right.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: Get in line early.
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a butcher. His uh, his style. But I
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: got to pick the Patriots.
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: You don't have to know.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: I got it. I got it, I got there. I
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: think there.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: You can pick whoever you think is going to emerge.
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: Let me twist them. I think the Patriots are.
- 1:54:44Speaker 6: I'm going to stick, however, with the score that I picked,
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: and I'm going to change a little bit so I
- 1:54:49Speaker 6: can pick the Patriots minus three out.
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna say Patriots thirty four to thirty.
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: Yeah, one of those.
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: Like back and forth minute last you know, I'm gonna That's.
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: How you finish forty games under five hundred, because you
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: want to pick the score and then you say, well,
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: I don't want to pick that score because that doesn't
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: fit the spread. So I'm just going to change the
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: score to the sure right.
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: Well, my original score it was going to happen.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: My original score was thirty three.
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: Fine, fine, I'll do it thirty three to thirty one.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: I'll stick to what I said.
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: I I cut you down for the Pats to cut
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: I mean, but I really do think it's already a score,
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: so I'm going to write a close pick in you
- 1:55:26Speaker 4: know it?
- 1:55:27Speaker 12: I forgot it? What did you have Monday?
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: Alex and I have the same score. It was extremely organic.
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: Ye the show thirty one twenty seven Patriots.
- 1:55:35Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: I feel like as time has gone on this week,
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: I feel like the spread might be a little bit
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: bigger than I'm saying, maybe more of a full touchdown.
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: But I'll stick with my score. I like to be consistent.
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: I think there's too much offense, too much Drake May.
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: I think he will answer any questions about his lack
- 1:55:55Speaker 4: of postseason experience early on. They're going to get a lead,
- 1:55:58Speaker 4: play the way that they've play'd so many games this
- 1:56:01Speaker 4: year and make the Chargers chase. Okay, but I do
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: respect the Chargers. I think they're a good team, and
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: I don't think that they'll just come here and lay
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: down for them.
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: Like Garrett Blunt said something that I thought was interesting
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: when he was on the show this week. He said,
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: you know what he tells, what he told young players
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: when it came to the playoffs is whatever you think
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: is going to happen, it's not going to happen. It's
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: always something different.
- 1:56:25Speaker 12: This is the leading story.
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: And this score came to me on Tuesday.
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: It came to me. That's how. That's how.
- 1:56:34Speaker 4: Was usually on his commute, hallucinating because he's been in
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: his car over.
- 1:56:38Speaker 12: The Sagamore Bridge.
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: Yes, this is this. It came to me actually during
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: the show. I was just thinking about it. But I've
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: held it until now. Patriots win. But the score is
- 1:56:49Speaker 3: twenty four to nineteen. Twenty four to nineteen. It's not
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: the game we think it's going to be. It's going
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: to be a tough you know, there's going to be
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: some punting going on field position.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's only one less touchdown that I picked.
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I picked things.
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: It's twenty four to nineteen.
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: This is going to be one of those games where
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: both teams kind of tighten up at the ball, They
- 1:57:18Speaker 3: tighten up a little bit and they start playing field position.
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: So that would be unexpected. Yeah, it's right. Yeah, so
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: I think that matches your narrative.
- 1:57:26Speaker 12: Yeah, are you guys nervous?
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: No, nervous. I'm not going to not at all.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: The beauty of this team is we'll beat you any
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: way you want, will beat you any way you want
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: to play I'm nervous, generally nervous.
- 1:57:38Speaker 12: Yeah, I have butterflies and it's days before.
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: Have you been with the team when we want in
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: the playoffs?
- 1:57:44Speaker 13: Oh?
- 1:57:44Speaker 4: Friend, many of you, And that's what I'm sort of covered.

- 1:57:57Speaker 19: It's been misery. Not with you guys, but well you guys.
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: It's a different misery.
- 1:58:04Speaker 12: No, it's so different. That's why I feel that's why
- 1:58:08Speaker 12: I'm going to cry.
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: If it's so sad, I'm going to have to try
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: to find Alex if we lose. Good thing. You weren't
