- 0:55Speaker 3: All right, welcome Kevin McCullough and Linda Perillo. And Linda,
- 0:59Speaker 3: thank you for showing up. Thank you for not booking
- 1:02Speaker 3: a flight to the United Arab Emirates today turned around.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Exactly so disappointing. I was headed there, and you know,
- 1:12Speaker 4: really it was the dream of trip of a lifetime.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Not yeah, well, it's just it's the latest of which
- 1:19Speaker 3: I now think there are five or six Mid East
- 1:22Speaker 3: countries that just because of the tensions in the war
- 1:25Speaker 3: and the yeah, they're telling Americans, do not do not,
- 1:29Speaker 3: do not, do not under any circumstances.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I did think it was kind of interesting.
- 1:33Speaker 3: On Saturday, I was watching I think it was the
- 1:35Speaker 3: Fox coverage of what was going on, but they kept
- 1:38Speaker 3: running this kind of same package from one of their
- 1:40Speaker 3: reporters and they were like, the US government is strongly
- 1:45Speaker 3: encouraging people in heavy, you know, Muslim populated countries to
- 1:51Speaker 3: find their own way home. Do not do not wait
- 1:55Speaker 3: and depend upon an American government transport.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And I was like, people do that. They it around
- 2:00Speaker 2: and they go, oh, I'm in a really dangerous place.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I'm just going to sit here and wait for the
- 2:05Speaker 3: government to go get me.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I don't know, I don't know what
- 2:10Speaker 4: people listen. The bottom line is, Kevin, I don't know
- 2:12Speaker 4: what people are thinking period.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Why.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I think the only reason I would travel to the
- 2:19Speaker 4: Middle East at all, not as a tourist, probably if
- 2:23Speaker 4: I had business there.
- 2:25Speaker 5: I mean, and that's probably why we travel.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Really, Dubai and UAE are these destinations where they're not
- 2:31Speaker 3: only just doing business meetings, but they're having these huge
- 2:34Speaker 3: conferences and stuff.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Yeah, they are.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Attract you know, business tourism to those places. And that's
- 2:41Speaker 3: why in some of those countries it's a little more
- 2:44Speaker 3: lax on some of the dress code for the women
- 2:46Speaker 3: and other things. They're trying to engage the West as
- 2:49Speaker 3: opposed to the Western anything to do with the West
- 2:51Speaker 3: at all.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Well, now, maybe you know, maybe there's a shot. What
- 2:56Speaker 4: I find so interesting, Right, and as a kid that
- 2:59Speaker 4: grew up in the eighties watching the Iranian hostage.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Issues unfold, right, I mean they were.
- 3:09Speaker 3: In my television sets that we had an eyeshot of
- 3:11Speaker 3: the dining.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Room table exactly.
- 3:14Speaker 4: You are exactly right, channel four channel you say channel four.
- 3:18Speaker 5: We didn't even say NBC. You said channel.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Four, Channel four in Dallas CBS, so, but it was.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Here it was NBC. But Walter Cronkite, I mean, we
- 3:30Speaker 4: had these people, right, Yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 5: That's it.
- 3:34Speaker 4: But you know, you go back and they were incarcerated
- 3:37Speaker 4: for over four hundred days, which is like over like
- 3:42Speaker 4: almost a year and a half. Yeah, that was a
- 3:47Speaker 4: lot of time. And I think as a child it
- 3:50Speaker 4: didn't penetrate. But when they said it the other day
- 3:53Speaker 4: I went, oh, my god, right, and that is I'm
- 3:57Speaker 4: getting to a point here, Kevin, believe.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It or not.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Trust you.
- 4:02Speaker 4: You know, what did we see? We saw the Shah
- 4:06Speaker 4: of Iran. We saw him leave, we saw him come here.
- 4:09Speaker 4: He came here, and the interesting part of this whole
- 4:12Speaker 4: thing is everything went full circle.
- 4:15Speaker 5: It's his son who's.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Trying to get back into power, diplomatic power, democratic power.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Well I put that in quotes right.
- 4:23Speaker 3: He's promised that if they if they establish a new government,
- 4:27Speaker 3: he will oversee and see to it that there are
- 4:29Speaker 3: free elections held, which is not something that they ever
- 4:32Speaker 3: had under the Mullahs at all. Those elections were always rigged.
- 4:37Speaker 3: And that's why, you know, remember ak Medinajad. I remember
- 4:41Speaker 3: the little the little guy with the rat face. He
- 4:43Speaker 3: had like ninety nine to one.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Yeah votes, So interesting, isn't it?
- 4:48Speaker 4: Because you know what, I want to keep my hands
- 4:51Speaker 4: as well.
- 4:52Speaker 5: So I will vote and you could watch.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I'll let you stay there while I fill out my ballot.
- 4:59Speaker 2: In fact it out for me. Why don't you go ahead?
- 5:01Speaker 5: Yeah, no problem?
- 5:03Speaker 3: No, preprinted with the reprinted with the circle already colored in.
- 5:08Speaker 5: With his face on it. Yes, no, yuse, please go.
- 5:12Speaker 5: We're good, We're good, We're good.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know what, we're laughing.
- 5:17Speaker 4: But the thing is that the regime that these people
- 5:19Speaker 4: have lived under and suffered under for so long, for
- 5:24Speaker 4: seven years, we helped them. So, you know what, these
- 5:28Speaker 4: people that say that our commander in chief did not
- 5:32Speaker 4: do the right thing by congressional standards, you're wrong. He
- 5:36Speaker 4: has a right to do what he did. And guess what,
- 5:40Speaker 4: he's protecting our land. They are a major terroristic threat
- 5:45Speaker 4: to this country and they always happen, that's right.
- 5:48Speaker 3: And they all The interesting thing about this, and I
- 5:51Speaker 3: wrote about this on Sunday in my column, but this
- 5:55Speaker 3: is this is decades worth of accountability coming home to roost.
- 5:59Speaker 3: It's not just for one bad thing that they did.
- 6:02Speaker 3: They took their hostages, they held them for a year
- 6:05Speaker 3: and a half. They blew up our embassies, they blew
- 6:07Speaker 3: up our boats, They blew up our sailors in marine barracks,
- 6:10Speaker 3: They blew up innocence in individual ied attacks all through
- 6:15Speaker 3: the Middle East of our servicemen and women. A lot
- 6:18Speaker 3: of the men and women that came home from Iraq
- 6:20Speaker 3: weren't injured by Iraqi forces. They were injured by roadside
- 6:23Speaker 3: bombs that the Iranians had built. And when I say
- 6:27Speaker 3: the Iranians, I don't mean the Iranian people. I mean
- 6:28Speaker 3: the Internet, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
- 6:31Speaker 2: They're really bad guys.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And so this is not just you know, it's so
- 6:36Speaker 3: weird because like AOC's like on TV, what did they do?
- 6:40Speaker 2: What haven't they done over the last forty seven years?
- 6:42Speaker 3: I mean they've killed thousands and thousands and thousands of
- 6:45Speaker 3: Americans and no president has ever, you know, stood up
- 6:48Speaker 3: to them and said that's that shouldn't happen. And so
- 6:51Speaker 3: finally we had the window of opportunity. They got all
- 6:54Speaker 3: of their they got all of their goat breeding cousins
- 6:56Speaker 3: all in one spot where they were all sitting there
- 6:59Speaker 3: having their little warma together, and bam, we.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Just we just took them all out.
- 7:03Speaker 3: And all I had to see to know which side
- 7:07Speaker 3: was right was to watch the Iranian diaspora across the
- 7:11Speaker 3: country on Saturday night into Sunday around the world, every city,
- 7:16Speaker 3: major Iranian populations coming out and cheering and saying thank
- 7:19Speaker 3: you to the US and Israel.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Iran's going to be a great I's say, right, Well,
- 7:24Speaker 2: it says.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Everything and it says that our democrats here are they're crazy.
- 7:28Speaker 3: And I'm not talking about voters. I'm talking about the
- 7:30Speaker 3: nut jobs that are in Congress, like the elon Omars
- 7:34Speaker 3: and AOC's and they're, well, we killed an innocent civilian
- 7:38Speaker 3: head of state. What what are you smoking? This guy
- 7:41Speaker 3: was bad and there he was worse to his own
- 7:44Speaker 3: people than Hitler was. He killed thirty five thousand Iranians
- 7:48Speaker 3: in January, just you know, because he didn't like them protesting.
- 7:52Speaker 2: It's really bad. So I don't have any problem.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Say what, Listen, this is how I view it.
- 7:59Speaker 4: You had no frame of reference, any of them, including myself,
- 8:05Speaker 4: to say have these people were living or not living?
- 8:08Speaker 4: So shut the bleep up and maybe on your next vacation,
- 8:14Speaker 4: tell me what a week is like in Tehran.
- 8:17Speaker 5: I want to know what you're weak in Tehran.
- 8:19Speaker 2: He's a guest editorial spot.
- 8:22Speaker 5: I'll pay for all things. I'll pay for that.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Listen out of pocket, Linda Perillo, My treat Tehran for
- 8:30Speaker 4: a week, okay, and you let me know what it's like,
- 8:34Speaker 4: especially and you know me, keV.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I'm not a lib. I'm not a liber I.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Know at all.
- 8:39Speaker 3: And the thing is now it's going to be there
- 8:42Speaker 3: now would be a little bit skewed because the freedoms
- 8:45Speaker 3: are going to start to come back, and you know,
- 8:48Speaker 3: they're going to have a different government in charge to
- 8:50Speaker 3: see what they have, what they did to that country
- 8:53Speaker 3: and every dollar that Obama and Biden gave them, and
- 8:57Speaker 3: just I can't, I can't justify what we've been doing.
- 9:00Speaker 2: In all these years.
- 9:02Speaker 5: I can't.
- 9:02Speaker 4: And I was thinking about the Democrats and I was saying, like,
- 9:06Speaker 4: what it's no matter what we do, no matter what
- 9:10Speaker 4: the president does, it could have been the best.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Because I'm telling you, if Biden or Obama.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Had done the same thing, yet him a cake, Like
- 9:20Speaker 4: what else can we do for you today?
- 9:22Speaker 5: Sir?
- 9:22Speaker 2: You know that's it?
- 9:24Speaker 3: It's it's it really is a derangement that they have
- 9:27Speaker 3: attached to just President Trump, which I don't think he
- 9:30Speaker 3: cares so is this. He's like, there's gonna be people
- 9:34Speaker 3: that don't like me. I'll just live with that. We'll
- 9:36Speaker 3: figure out how to get through it anyway. All right,
- 9:38Speaker 3: she's Lenna, I'm Kevin. We are talking travel and we're
- 9:41Speaker 3: starting a new series this week that we're going to
- 9:44Speaker 3: call Revolutionary Destinations, and that's a little bit of clue
- 9:48Speaker 3: about what it might be about. Stay with us, Kevin mccaullough,
- 9:56Speaker 3: glad to be with you. I'm speaking with Danny Patino
- 9:58Speaker 3: and we're talking about food for the poor and feeding
- 10:01Speaker 3: children this month. Danny, what are these children experiencing?
- 10:04Speaker 2: Our bodies are miraculous.
- 10:06Speaker 6: They will adapt to altitude, to temperature, to stress, but
- 10:10Speaker 6: there's one thing that they should never adapt to, and
- 10:12Speaker 6: that is hunger. And we met a young girl named
- 10:14Speaker 6: Daniela and I'll do it us. And she's built a
- 10:16Speaker 6: tolerance to not eating. I'm gonna let that sit in
- 10:19Speaker 6: for a moment. She's built a tolerance to noise, she's
- 10:22Speaker 6: built a tolerance to discomfort, to inconvenience, but to hunger.
- 10:25Speaker 6: And that's the body's ultimate surrender. That's when empty becomes
- 10:29Speaker 6: the new normal. And that tolerance isn't strengthful, it's a
- 10:32Speaker 6: survival mode and it's the body learning to function on
- 10:35Speaker 6: less than what it needs. And it's a childhood adapting
- 10:38Speaker 6: to scarcity instead of abundance. And once that's built, that
- 10:42Speaker 6: tolerance is going to just shape everything from growth, learning
- 10:45Speaker 6: and hope.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Eight fivey five, nine oh seven, four six, seven, three
- 10:49Speaker 2: eight fivey five nine oh seven four six seven three.
- 10:52Speaker 2: You can also text hunger to five to one five
- 10:55Speaker 2: five five. Hi.

- 13:19Speaker 9: and large, it is remarkable that you have surrounding neighbors
- 13:24Speaker 9: of Iran now opening their airspace and their real estate,
- 13:27Speaker 9: allowing Israelis and US combat troops to operate from their positions.
- 13:32Speaker 2: That is new that has never happened before.

- 13:57Speaker 2: McCollough, Welcome back. It's Travel Tuesday.
- 14:01Speaker 3: She's Linda Perillo, Yes, the Dynamic travel Icon and she
- 14:07Speaker 3: has those parillos.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yep. Well, you're a big TV start now.
- 14:11Speaker 3: You know, once you sit on Rosanna Scatto's pouch, the
- 14:14Speaker 3: world knows who you are.
- 14:17Speaker 5: I love Rosanna. She's a good egg.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Jillie Great and she was on Outnumbered yesterday and it's
- 14:23Speaker 3: very it's very funny, what well, that's the thing. So
- 14:27Speaker 3: it was Harris Faulkner and all the normal people that
- 14:30Speaker 3: are on Outnumbered, but she was there. Larry Kudlow was
- 14:34Speaker 3: the was the guy in the in the middle because
- 14:36Speaker 3: there's always one guy in the middle and then four females.
- 14:39Speaker 3: And she was one of the tangential guests. And she's
- 14:43Speaker 3: been on it a couple of times before, but I
- 14:45Speaker 3: feel like they kind of put her in a bad
- 14:47Speaker 3: situation because they she ends up being on the panel
- 14:51Speaker 3: sometimes when there's some of the most like controversial or
- 14:55Speaker 3: breaking news like things that are happening, and she's just
- 14:58Speaker 3: not used to doing opinion journalism at all. She's very
- 15:01Speaker 3: much used to keeping things straight and narrow and having
- 15:05Speaker 3: to be because she's on the broadcast side of the
- 15:08Speaker 3: of the building. It's actually a completely different building, but
- 15:10Speaker 3: she's on the broadcast side of the operation. So they
- 15:12Speaker 3: had her on yesterday and there's Cudlow just being Larry
- 15:16Speaker 3: you know, well, you know, trumpy skinn it's blow up
- 15:19Speaker 3: the world and we're going to have the thing and
- 15:20Speaker 3: then we're all the economy is going to be great,
- 15:23Speaker 3: It's going.
- 15:24Speaker 2: To be wonderful.
- 15:24Speaker 3: And you have Harris, who's Emmy winning, you know, multiple
- 15:28Speaker 3: decades long Emmy winning journalists, the main anchor for the show,
- 15:32Speaker 3: and then you've got all these like other you usually
- 15:35Speaker 3: have like one person from the left, and you've got
- 15:37Speaker 3: someone who's like kind of a kind of token libertarian.
- 15:40Speaker 3: And then he had Rosanna, And every time they cut
- 15:43Speaker 3: to Rosanna, she I just felt nervous for because she
- 15:46Speaker 3: was like she was trying to not.
- 15:47Speaker 5: She she was so seasoned, she was trying to.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Thread the needle and be very like, I'm not taking
- 15:53Speaker 3: a side on this when everybody else on the couch
- 15:55Speaker 3: is taking a side. What they should have her on for,
- 15:58Speaker 3: I think is stuff that's typically New York related and
- 16:02Speaker 3: is stuff that she can have fun with. So when there's,
- 16:05Speaker 3: you know, something goofy going on in the city, or
- 16:08Speaker 3: when there's like you know, but I don't know why
- 16:10Speaker 3: they've started and they've done that with her and a
- 16:12Speaker 3: couple of other people from major affiliates across the country.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I don't know if they're trying to prime them for
- 16:17Speaker 3: the news channel, but it's like it doesn't it's not
- 16:19Speaker 3: the same because everybody else on the news channel is
- 16:21Speaker 3: like rabid opinion people and she's not. She's she's a
- 16:26Speaker 3: straight newsperson. So anyway, I felt bad for you yesterday
- 16:29Speaker 3: she did.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Really she's she said, listen, I think she's a sweetheart,
- 16:33Speaker 4: but underneath it, I mean, she's been.
- 16:35Speaker 5: Doing broadcast journalism for.
- 16:37Speaker 3: So long, but the news channels aren't journalism, their opinion.
- 16:41Speaker 3: So well, you know what you get, MSNBC, you know
- 16:44Speaker 3: what you get, Fox News, you know what you and
- 16:46Speaker 3: you can be on the other side. But her, what
- 16:49Speaker 3: she does at Fox five is so it's it's literal broadcast.
- 16:54Speaker 3: It goes to everybody, So she can't be She's just not.
- 16:57Speaker 3: It's like a muscle that she hasn't exercise for a
- 16:59Speaker 3: long time to be like in the editorial division as
- 17:02Speaker 3: opposed to this. And she's a very good straight news anchor.
- 17:06Speaker 3: But it's just a different just a different animal.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Who is the journalist uh CBS with the short hair,
- 17:13Speaker 4: the girl I can't even think of her.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Listen, I'm going.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Through not Katie, No, No, she's young.

- 27:16Speaker 3: I'm Kevin, and we're talking travel Tuesday. And yes, you
- 27:20Speaker 3: cannot go to the UAE or to Dubai. If you're
- 27:24Speaker 3: attempted to go, Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 2: It's going to be so turned away. They're going to say, Nope,
- 27:30Speaker 2: you can't go.
- 27:30Speaker 3: You're an American and the and that's the American State
- 27:34Speaker 3: Department that's saying that, like, don't.
- 27:35Speaker 5: Well, listen to this protection. So listen.
- 27:37Speaker 4: I just want to say this is a blanket statement
- 27:39Speaker 4: out there. Check your travel advisories. You know, people love
- 27:43Speaker 4: to go places that sound exotic, they sound fun, they're
- 27:47Speaker 4: not trite.
- 27:47Speaker 5: They've been here. It's not common. It's you know, it's woke,
- 27:50Speaker 5: very woke. That's the new word. It's woke.
- 27:52Speaker 4: So is it woke to go to Tehran? It might be,
- 27:57Speaker 4: but why don't you check the travel advisory and see
- 28:00Speaker 4: if maybe you should be going there, or like you said,
- 28:03Speaker 4: going to Dubai, which is also very woke and modern less.
- 28:08Speaker 3: They've got all of these conferences that they hold there
- 28:10Speaker 3: now and it's like, well, are you just suspending all
- 28:13Speaker 3: the conferences? Are you moving them to other safe cities?
- 28:16Speaker 3: Because they have I mean, those countries have really tried
- 28:19Speaker 3: to embrace a kind of westernized sense of you know,
- 28:23Speaker 3: global propriety.
- 28:24Speaker 2: But as long as as long as you're going.
- 28:26Speaker 3: To have Mulla's like Ayatola Kamani who wanted to drive
- 28:32Speaker 3: entire country, you know, into the Stone Ages, it's just
- 28:37Speaker 3: you're going to have to make You're gonna have to
- 28:39Speaker 3: pull away. And to the administration's credit, the reason that
- 28:43Speaker 3: Trump had success this weekend is because of work he
- 28:45Speaker 3: started doing in twenty sixteen.
- 28:47Speaker 2: So like it.
- 28:49Speaker 3: It really is a kind of testimony to his enduring
- 28:51Speaker 3: ability to form foreign policy and alliances that really count,
- 28:55Speaker 3: and so far they've.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Held so well, let's help Kevin. You know what is
- 28:58Speaker 5: a springboard.
- 29:00Speaker 4: It's a springboard into peace and that you know what,
- 29:02Speaker 4: I'm laughing and making fun of all this stuff, and
- 29:04Speaker 4: I really shouldn't do it, but maybe why can't we
- 29:08Speaker 4: feel safe when we travel to these countries? Why can't
- 29:10Speaker 4: we feel safe learning about other cultures? You know, these
- 29:14Speaker 4: places in the Middle East. I mean, I wouldn't go
- 29:15Speaker 4: to the Middle East right now, for sure, but you
- 29:18Speaker 4: know we can learn, we can. Let Egypt's a beautiful country.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Wouldn't go there, and now Israel's a beautiful country. Wouldn't
- 29:24Speaker 4: go there right now either, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. These
- 29:28Speaker 4: are beautiful countries with a lot of modern technology and
- 29:32Speaker 4: a lot to offer. But we are afraid because of
- 29:36Speaker 4: what's happening.
- 29:37Speaker 3: And I don't think fear is necessarily beneficial, but having
- 29:41Speaker 3: a wise eye to things and saying that, well, yeah.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Like not going. How's that? Okay? So let's talk about
- 29:48Speaker 5: the most part.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Let's talk about the most the number one places to visit,
- 29:52Speaker 3: because Expedia and trip Advisor have come up with two
- 29:56Speaker 3: different destinations for us.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's the first one. And this is no surprise.
- 30:01Speaker 4: Thank you Kevin Costner and the cast of Yellowstone. It's
- 30:04Speaker 4: big Sky Montana, and I think a lot of people
- 30:08Speaker 4: that if you ever watched Yellowstone, and we did watch it,
- 30:12Speaker 4: the scenery is just I mean, it is just beyond.
- 30:16Speaker 4: It is just beckoning you to get on your pony
- 30:19Speaker 4: and ride out into the Sun's anything.
- 30:21Speaker 5: You may not know where you're going.
- 30:23Speaker 4: But listen, I would like to just meet Luke Grimes,
- 30:27Speaker 4: who lives out there, who.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Nails are definitely on the menu.
- 30:32Speaker 5: He's the ranch family. He's got to be my wrangler.
- 30:35Speaker 3: I mean, come on, you would like him to wrangle
- 30:39Speaker 3: a bunch. Well he's and and now he's got the spinoff,
- 30:43Speaker 3: which is going to do well. And Marshalls think that
- 30:46Speaker 3: Beth and what was Oh.
- 30:48Speaker 5: I love her.
- 30:50Speaker 2: That couple are going to well.
- 30:52Speaker 4: So it's uh, well they are rip and Beth Bethton,
- 30:57Speaker 4: Beth Dunton is my spirit animal.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Every woman I know says that and nobody is actually
- 31:04Speaker 3: like not.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Love I know because we try and it gets very scary.
- 31:08Speaker 4: And listen, she killed her brother in cold blood.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Since on the couch, Jamie had it coming.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Oh we did have it coming. Listen. It was cold,
- 31:17Speaker 5: I mean it was right there.
- 31:18Speaker 4: She sits on the couch, has a cigarette, thinks about
- 31:21Speaker 4: it and her husband comes gets rid of the body
- 31:25Speaker 4: and she went out of.
- 31:25Speaker 2: The wife took to the train station. Well that's it.
- 31:29Speaker 5: I want to be best done.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Well, I don't want to be any of the other Duttons.
- 31:33Speaker 3: If she's around, that's for sure.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Well that's.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Expedia, says Montana trip Advisor. Actually is is awarding a
- 31:45Speaker 3: destination that I think a lot of people might not
- 31:47Speaker 3: have thought of, but it is you dub Bali in
- 31:52Speaker 3: the South Pacific and this year Bali claimed the number
- 31:55Speaker 3: one spot uh. It's Indonesia's most visited island and has
- 31:58Speaker 3: evolved into a hub for wellness with lots of yoga centers,
- 32:01Speaker 3: meditation centers, spa focused days all around ubud and along
- 32:07Speaker 3: the coast, and at the same time, beach clubs, nightlife
- 32:10Speaker 3: scenes and others are allowing for you know, evening entertainment.
- 32:15Speaker 3: So you have you have your yoga during the day,
- 32:17Speaker 3: you have your nightclubs at night. And because of that,
- 32:19Speaker 3: people are saying that Bali at least saying it's there.
- 32:24Speaker 3: And the thing that gets me about the South Pacific
- 32:29Speaker 3: is that this is one of those areas where I'm
- 32:31Speaker 3: really iffy on because I think there are planss there
- 32:33Speaker 3: that seem very safe, and then you hear, you know
- 32:37Speaker 3: of like just occasional, some sort of uprising that takes
- 32:39Speaker 3: place somewhere, and it's always in these areas. They don't
- 32:43Speaker 3: have a lot of things that they clamp down on
- 32:46Speaker 3: in terms of like extremism, so you can radicalize people.
- 32:50Speaker 5: Oh there's no law. It's almost like they're lawless.
- 32:54Speaker 4: I mean, they are contained lawfully in their own country.
- 32:58Speaker 4: They have their own rules, but I know, I see lawlessness.
- 33:01Speaker 4: And you know what, And this segment go to Hawaii.
- 33:04Speaker 4: It's the same thing, and you're in the United States,
- 33:06Speaker 4: just much.

- 37:36Speaker 3: And I was thinking, in fact, I talked to some
- 37:38Speaker 3: of the Medjet people last week. I am positive, I
- 37:42Speaker 3: am not even doubtful of this. I am positive that
- 37:45Speaker 3: they their emergency extraction service, which is called Medjet Horizon,
- 37:50Speaker 3: is not just activated just because of health issues. It
- 37:54Speaker 3: can also be activated because of safety issues. And so
- 37:56Speaker 3: I am I am nearly one hundred percent positive that
- 38:00Speaker 3: they have people that they are helping to get out
- 38:02Speaker 3: of the Middle East right now. Oh, for sure, feel
- 38:05Speaker 3: very very unsafe, but you know, to sign up the

- 38:27Speaker 3: anither one of those places. But at the Passport Life
- 38:31Speaker 3: the newsletter that Linda and I write, we are starting
- 38:34Speaker 3: a brand new series on destinations that were involved in
- 38:39Speaker 3: the founding of our country because it's the two hundred
- 38:43Speaker 3: and fiftieth year of America. Did you sing Happy Birthday
- 38:46Speaker 3: yet to America?
- 38:47Speaker 5: Linda, No, I didn't.
- 38:49Speaker 2: We have to get on that before July fourth.
- 38:51Speaker 3: But we're starting the journey in Boston, which if you
- 38:56Speaker 3: know anything about the Revolutionary War, you know that's where
- 39:00Speaker 3: the Brits really thought that they were gonna kind of
- 39:03Speaker 3: kick our fannies and tell us to sit down and
- 39:05Speaker 3: be quiet. And Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill were both
- 39:10Speaker 3: part of the Boston battles and it was just one
- 39:12Speaker 3: of those things where we would not have America today
- 39:16Speaker 3: if Boston hadn't been kind of that key starting point.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Of course, the Boston Tea Party was where they said,
- 39:24Speaker 3: you're going to tax us without letting us have a
- 39:26Speaker 3: voice in that taxation. So proof here goes your tea
- 39:30Speaker 3: into the into the ocean.
- 39:32Speaker 2: And so that's where we've.
- 39:34Speaker 3: We've highlighted this first destination in last week's issue. But
- 39:37Speaker 3: I wanted to ask Lady Perillo, when you think of Boston,
- 39:42Speaker 3: it is a modern city now, it still has a
- 39:44Speaker 3: lot of kind of historical flare to it.
- 39:46Speaker 2: What do you what do you like about this city.
- 39:48Speaker 2: I'm sure you've been Oh my gosh.
- 39:50Speaker 5: Yeah, Boston.
- 39:52Speaker 4: My sister lived up in Massachusetts for many years and
- 39:55Speaker 4: graduated Boston University.
- 39:57Speaker 5: My niece graduated Boston.
- 39:59Speaker 2: It was a Golden Eagle.
- 40:00Speaker 5: My brother graduated Boston University.
- 40:03Speaker 4: So we spent a lot of time in Boston and Massachusetts.
- 40:07Speaker 4: I love Boston, and I'm going to say why because
- 40:10Speaker 4: I think it is a much more civilized, unadulterated version
- 40:15Speaker 4: of New York City, and I think it's very walkable.
- 40:20Speaker 4: I think it retains its historical charm in almost every
- 40:26Speaker 4: section of the city, and being a baseball fanatic. Right,
- 40:32Speaker 4: look at Fenway Park. I mean they've not they've barely
- 40:35Speaker 4: touched the place. But it gives it charm, right, it
- 40:40Speaker 4: gives it a sense of old Americana. And I love
- 40:44Speaker 4: Boston for that reason. And you bring up a good point.
- 40:48Speaker 4: It's really where the revolutionary were, I believe began, right,
- 40:52Speaker 4: they traveled, they come in and then they get went
- 40:54Speaker 4: further south. Because even here in New Jersey, Kevin, we
- 40:57Speaker 4: know that we have a lot of historical Marstown is
- 40:59Speaker 4: like all about it, Bergen County is all about it.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Everything through the north. Because the path was really it
- 41:06Speaker 3: was like started in Boston.
- 41:08Speaker 2: It did.
- 41:08Speaker 3: It did kind of flow west a little bit of
- 41:10Speaker 3: there a couple of times, but it went through New York,
- 41:13Speaker 3: it went down to Philadelphia, yeah, came back up towards
- 41:15Speaker 3: New York, it went further south eventually into Virginia and
- 41:19Speaker 3: eventually at Yorktown and where the you know, we finally
- 41:23Speaker 3: put a knife in them and said you're done.
- 41:26Speaker 5: Battle of Yorktown.
- 41:27Speaker 2: But it was a whole.
- 41:28Speaker 3: That this whole region of the country. And that's why
- 41:31Speaker 3: I think if families wanted to this year, if they
- 41:34Speaker 3: took little family trips to some of these spots they'd
- 41:36Speaker 3: learned so much throughout the two hundred and fifty years.
- 41:39Speaker 4: I think we're going to do it, keV. I think
- 41:40Speaker 4: I'm going to focus on that because I haven't really
- 41:43Speaker 4: been focusing.
- 41:46Speaker 5: It's time to travel again. It's time.
- 41:48Speaker 4: It's getting there, you know, spring break, summer, We're going
- 41:51Speaker 4: to start doing it.
- 41:52Speaker 5: And I agree with you. I love Boston, great.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Cool that haven't spent a lot of time in Boston.
- 41:57Speaker 3: What would Linda Perillo's favorite?
- 42:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 42:01Speaker 3: When it comes to like Rome, you've got like your
- 42:03Speaker 3: hanging place, eat and so forth. Do you have favorites
- 42:07Speaker 3: the Boston area.
- 42:08Speaker 5: I still love Fanuel Hall.
- 42:11Speaker 4: It brings together a lot of merchants and food and restaurants.
- 42:18Speaker 4: There's a great restaurant if it's still open. I think
- 42:21Speaker 4: it was Jurgen's Park. I mean it was a fun
- 42:23Speaker 4: place to.
- 42:24Speaker 5: Eat, you know.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Then you have I think it's the North End, right,
- 42:28Speaker 4: which is very Italian.
- 42:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so Cheers is there? Go see Cheers.
- 42:35Speaker 4: That's the original Cheers, Kevin, that's the original Cheers is there?
- 42:42Speaker 4: And the Harbor, I mean the Harbor is beauty and
- 42:45Speaker 4: in the summertime. The Harbor is a great, great place
- 42:47Speaker 4: to visit. So I think there's a lot going on
- 42:49Speaker 4: in Boston. You need more than a weekend there if
- 42:52Speaker 4: you're going to really take in all the sites and
- 42:55Speaker 4: take in everything Boston is. It's a wonderful, wonderful city,
- 42:59Speaker 4: high and highly recommended with kids. There's a lot to
- 43:02Speaker 4: do there. There's a lot of museums well for.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Your educational aged kids. There is the Freedom Trail, which
- 43:08Speaker 3: is a two and a half mile red brick path
- 43:11Speaker 3: that connects sixteen historic sites all in the Crazy That
- 43:16Speaker 3: include the Old South Meetinghouse, which is where the colonists
- 43:19Speaker 3: debated the t act before they threw it in the water,
- 43:23Speaker 3: Finniel Hall, as you said, the cradle of Liberty. A
- 43:25Speaker 3: lot of speeches that stirred the revelation took place there,
- 43:28Speaker 3: the Paul Revere House, the North End home of the
- 43:31Speaker 3: Midnight Writer who then you know, famously said the British
- 43:34Speaker 3: are coming, the British are coming. And then the Old
- 43:36Speaker 3: North Church which is where they indicated with the lanterns
- 43:41Speaker 3: one if by land, two and by sea. And it
- 43:43Speaker 3: was a it was a message kind of sent in
- 43:46Speaker 3: code to the to the colonialists to as to how.
- 43:50Speaker 2: They would plan their attack.
- 43:51Speaker 3: So that's just that's just on the Freedom Trail and
- 43:54Speaker 3: if you have kids. But there's also this really cool
- 43:57Speaker 3: hotel called the Liberty Hotel that was once the Charles
- 44:02Speaker 3: Street Jail and it opened in eighteen fifty one, which
- 44:06Speaker 3: is I don't know, it's about one hundred years after
- 44:08Speaker 3: the revolution was completed.
- 44:11Speaker 2: But here's the thing.
- 44:12Speaker 3: It was a jail and they've turned it into a
- 44:15Speaker 3: five star luxury place.
- 44:18Speaker 2: And you see the inside, So don't you.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Wish you were incarcerated there? Maybe something else they didn't.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Tell everybody what it was going to be.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Or the business written so and one culinary suggestion. The
- 44:34Speaker 3: Union Oyster House has been held as a great place
- 44:38Speaker 3: for great fresh seafood of Boston Fair. When we come back,
- 44:42Speaker 3: it's time for Pirello to do some pointers.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Don't go any why.

- 48:09Speaker 3: But final a few minutes of travel Tuesday. Thank you
- 48:11Speaker 3: for being here. She's Linda Perillo. I'm Kevin McCullough. Linda
- 48:15Speaker 3: on my recent travels. I just went to Nashville not
- 48:19Speaker 3: long ago. And there and back. I flew United. The
- 48:22Speaker 3: last several trips I've taken, I've gone on United, and
- 48:25Speaker 3: I'm starting to now when, like with my new syndicated show,
- 48:29Speaker 3: Salem's going to send me places and I've already got
- 48:31Speaker 3: all my mileage numbers into the corporate HQ so that
- 48:34Speaker 3: when they book my flight, I can get the miles
- 48:37Speaker 3: for that. But I've never paid attention to that until
- 48:41Speaker 3: like maybe the last two or three years, and I
- 48:43Speaker 3: feel kind of dumb for not having done so, because
- 48:45Speaker 3: I've done a little bit of travel over the course
- 48:47Speaker 3: of my life, and United's miles stay with you forever,
- 48:50Speaker 3: and it would have been kind of nice to have
- 48:52Speaker 3: all those accrued. Having said that, I'm now on board
- 48:55Speaker 3: and I see these things. Even when you get on
- 48:57Speaker 3: the plane, they say purchase more mind for your ticket,
- 49:01Speaker 3: and it's in the app. You can actually pay money
- 49:04Speaker 3: to get extra miles. And I don't know if it's
- 49:07Speaker 3: a better deal than just buying airfare or not, but
- 49:10Speaker 3: I haven't done that yet. But there does seem to
- 49:12Speaker 3: be an emphasis on trying to get people to accumulate
- 49:14Speaker 3: these miles as much.
- 49:15Speaker 5: As they can, well, because they want you to pay
- 49:18Speaker 5: for it now.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 49:18Speaker 4: So when these mileage programs first started out, you know,
- 49:23Speaker 4: it was just like miles, that's it.
- 49:25Speaker 5: You flew Delta, you got the miles period.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Then the Loyally program, you use this, we're going to reward.
- 49:29Speaker 4: You, right, And then they introduced, you know, down the road,
- 49:34Speaker 4: they introduced credit cards and like American Expresses got one
- 49:36Speaker 4: of the best points going capital one, Capital one, I
- 49:41Speaker 4: think venture is.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Another nothing the Apple card And if you do the
- 49:45Speaker 3: savings account with the Apple program, they start you out
- 49:47Speaker 3: at four and a half percent.
- 49:49Speaker 5: Like it's that's crazy, right, real stuff.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Yes, So here what they're saying is in a nutshell
- 49:54Speaker 4: is that it used to be if you didn't have
- 49:56Speaker 4: a mileage, if you have a Mileage Plus member and
- 49:58Speaker 4: you were not a credit card, uh, you were just
- 50:02Speaker 4: earning what was it, five miles per dollar spent. But
- 50:05Speaker 4: now you're going to earn less as just a blanket member.
- 50:09Speaker 4: But if you are a credit card holder, you're going
- 50:13Speaker 4: to get a lot more perks. Your mileage is going
- 50:15Speaker 4: to go up with every dollar. And so they're really
- 50:19Speaker 4: rewarding the people that do have the credit card, and
- 50:22Speaker 4: they do give you like a whole bunch of miles.
- 50:24Speaker 4: I think when you first sign up for it and
- 50:26Speaker 4: you get going and they want you to buy your
- 50:29Speaker 4: tickets on the credit card, right, So even.
- 50:32Speaker 5: If you're in the if you've ever noticed, if.
- 50:34Speaker 4: You're in the United terminal and you go to eat,
- 50:37Speaker 4: and even if you sit down at any place you
- 50:40Speaker 4: use your credit card, you're going to get more points
- 50:43Speaker 4: for using that credit card within the United terminal.
- 50:46Speaker 5: So they do make it perk ful, percolated. I don't
- 50:50Speaker 5: know it worked to eat the hurky.
- 50:55Speaker 2: It's not a word we normally associate with that.
- 50:57Speaker 4: No, I think you're going to see more and more
- 50:59Speaker 4: of this kind kind of thing happening through credit cards
- 51:03Speaker 4: and purchasing things for.
- 51:04Speaker 3: The record and just you and me, no one's listening.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Which mileage program on the airlines?
- 51:10Speaker 2: Do you like the best?
- 51:11Speaker 4: You know?
- 51:11Speaker 5: I don't know. I think honestly, they're all the same.
- 51:14Speaker 4: I think United's is very strong, right, Jet Blue they're okay.
- 51:19Speaker 4: But again, I think if you go with a Capital
- 51:22Speaker 4: one credit card with the American Express points, I think
- 51:25Speaker 4: you get a lot of the same perks. But if
- 51:28Speaker 4: you're going to use a credit card, like to me,
- 51:30Speaker 4: it doesn't matter if you like your mileage plus credit
- 51:33Speaker 4: card more and you're going to get points.
- 51:34Speaker 5: Use that. I mean, it's it's a whole bunch of points. Guy,
- 51:38Speaker 5: go on the point sky he is.
- 51:40Speaker 2: All the things I did with loyalty programs are just cash.
- 51:43Speaker 2: I just want the money. Give me the cash back,
- 51:45Speaker 2: give me three percent on every gallon of gas I buy.
- 51:48Speaker 2: I'm good with that.
- 51:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
