- 0:00Speaker 1: Just in closing, I wanted to touch on something that
- 0:03Speaker 1: touched on earlier today in one of the questions that
- 0:06Speaker 1: came in, and it was just about appreciation and how
- 0:09Speaker 1: this woman just was upset with her husband because he
- 0:14Speaker 1: comes in and he complains about his job, and he
- 0:17Speaker 1: wanted her to acknowledge that, and he wanted her to
- 0:21Speaker 1: understand how hard he was working. And he was talking
- 0:27Speaker 1: about how hard it is for a black man out
- 0:29Speaker 1: here to work in the atmosphere that we have to
- 0:32Speaker 1: work in. It's not saying that black women don't work
- 0:35Speaker 1: in the same atmosphere. There is a difference between the two.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And she says, well, I tuned him out, but I've
- 0:43Speaker 1: been imploring him to just go get another job. Why
- 0:46Speaker 1: don't he do that? Well, it's not that easy out
- 0:49Speaker 1: there to just go get another job with the benefits,
- 0:51Speaker 1: with the seniority, with the same amount of pay. You know,
- 0:56Speaker 1: he may be at an age where they don't hire
- 0:58Speaker 1: people of his age anymore, forty and stuff like that.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So it's a lot to consider. But let's not overlook
- 1:04Speaker 1: the basic problem that his brother had when he wanted.
- 1:07Speaker 1: All he wanted from his woman was to validate him.
- 1:11Speaker 1: All he wanted was appreciation. And I'm going to say something.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I'm speaking for all men right now. Most men leave
- 1:20Speaker 1: this world underappreciated. All of my true friends are my age.
- 1:26Speaker 1: They all feel this way, they all have felt this.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Just being a man, a husband, and a father is
- 1:35Speaker 1: really really a thankless job. It's really really tough man.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And I'm not saying it's not tough for women, because
- 1:40Speaker 1: it is. But let's just look at let's take for example,
- 1:44Speaker 1: Mother's Day versus Father's Day. That right there shows you
- 1:49Speaker 1: the level and the effort that men, boys have to
- 1:53Speaker 1: put forth to show their appreciation for their mothers, and
- 1:58Speaker 1: as they should. It is a well deserved title. You
- 2:02Speaker 1: only get one mama, and I understand it, But fathers
- 2:05Speaker 1: don't get that same type of recognition. Now, is it
- 2:09Speaker 1: because you think we mean and were supposed to be
- 2:11Speaker 1: tough and we're supposed to just suck it up and
- 2:12Speaker 1: deal with it because that's what we do every day.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But don't you know how much it would mean to
- 2:18Speaker 1: your man if you just appreciated him, if you showed
- 2:21Speaker 1: it to him, if you told it to him. You
- 2:24Speaker 1: know how much it would mean to your man if
- 2:25Speaker 1: you would talk to your kids and say, go in
- 2:27Speaker 1: down and tell your father thank you, because that man
- 2:31Speaker 1: bring it in here every day and he just show
- 2:34Speaker 1: up sick, well off, whatever, and he keep putting it in.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Do you know what that would mean to that man?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Do you know how many times you are your man
- 2:43Speaker 1: has had to help your family, or your man has
- 2:46Speaker 1: had to help some other people, and it goes without
- 2:51Speaker 1: thanks and appreciation, and it wears on a man. The
- 2:55Speaker 1: sad thing about being a man is we don't really
- 2:57Speaker 1: get You don't really know how value you are and
- 2:59Speaker 1: how much you appreciate it until you gone, and we
- 3:02Speaker 1: got to stop that. I just think we have to
- 3:04Speaker 1: stop that now. I'm speaking up on behalf of men
- 3:07Speaker 1: because I've been in that position many times where I
- 3:10Speaker 1: just felt unappreciated. I have, and you can look at
- 3:15Speaker 1: what I have and think that ought to fix it
- 3:16Speaker 1: and compensate for it, but it don't because there's nothing
- 3:20Speaker 1: like appreciation. And I'm gonna tell you this again, ladies,
- 3:24Speaker 1: most men leave this world feeling underappreciated, and you just
- 3:29Speaker 1: don't know what it would mean to him if everybody
- 3:31Speaker 1: gathered around him and just told him thank you, if
- 3:35Speaker 1: it just did some kind for the man, if you
- 3:37Speaker 1: just had you have your damn kids call they dad
- 3:40Speaker 1: every now and say, hey, man, look, I know you
- 3:42Speaker 1: don't have to do what you're doing, but I show
- 3:45Speaker 1: appreciate it. I'm talking from experience, too, but I'm talking
- 3:49Speaker 1: because I know all of my friends feel the exact
- 3:52Speaker 1: same way. I could tell you right now on this
- 3:55Speaker 1: show that Junior and Tommy feel the exact same way.
- 3:59Speaker 1: They just do. Man, But it don't look good when
- 4:01Speaker 1: we complain about it, because just like the lady said
- 4:05Speaker 1: in the letter, I've tuned him out. Why don't he
- 4:08Speaker 1: just go get another job, because you don't know what
- 4:10Speaker 1: it's like, because you don't understand, as a black man,
- 4:14Speaker 1: what this is to go out there in this world
- 4:16Speaker 1: afterday and bite your tongue and deal with the things
- 4:19Speaker 1: you deal with, and then to come home and not
- 4:22Speaker 1: get no reinforcement, not have a place to get our
- 4:25Speaker 1: battery recharged. And then we got to turn around and
- 4:28Speaker 1: go right back out there again and produce again and
- 4:31Speaker 1: bring that check home again. And ain't nobody clapping for us,
- 4:36Speaker 1: ain't nobody cheering us home, and ain't nobody appreciating us?
- 4:39Speaker 1: And that's gonna get old. Ladies, do your man a favor.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Gather everybody else that's ever he's ever done something for
- 4:47Speaker 1: and tell them to appreciate your fail even if you
- 4:50Speaker 1: do it, tell everybody else get anything. It would mean
- 4:53Speaker 1: a lot to them. Those are my clothes remarks today.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Have a great day to y'all. Have for all. Steve
