- Lucas: Hey there, welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Last episode we were at the night market buying snacks and drinks. Lucas: Yeah, and you got some practice with prices. But today, we're gonna level up — we're gonna learn how to bargain. Luna: Oh, I need this. I always pay full price because I don't know what to say. Lucas: Well, let's change that. The first phrase is '可唔可以平啲'. That means 'can you lower the price a bit?'. Lucas: Good. Try it a bit slower: Lucas: Yeah, that's it. Now, if you think the price is too high, you can say '太貴' — too expensive. Luna: 太貴. Lucas: Right. So imagine you're at a stall, and the vendor says the price is fifty dollars. You can say '太貴' and then '可唔可以平啲'. Lucas: Perfect. Another useful one is '平啲啦' which is like saying 'cheaper, please' — a bit more direct. Luna: 平啲啦. Lucas: Yes. And if you think the price is really good, you can say '好抵' — that's a bargain. Luna: 好抵. Lucas: Yeah. So let's do a quick scene. I'm the vendor, and you're the customer. Lucas: Good. And I say '四十蚊啦'. Luna: 平少少啦 — can I say that? Lucas: Yeah! '平少少' means 'a little cheaper'. So '平少少啦' — a little cheaper please. Lucas: Exactly. So you can chain them: '太貴,平少少啦,可唔可以平啲?'. Lucas: Nice. And if you get a good price, you can say '好抵'. Luna: 好抵. I love that. Okay, so let me try bargaining for real. I want to buy a keychain. Lucas: Sure. I'll be the vendor. Thanks. Lucas: See, you got a discount. Got it.
